Measures of central tendency is a one of the
important parameter in statistics which helps us to find
out the average/mean, median, mode, Harmonic mean
and geometric mean of the given data.
without the help of central tendency we are unable to
find out any results to the any data
4. Meaning of Central Tendency:
Central tendency is a statistical parameter which
helps us to finding the results of the given data.
The large number of big figures not only confusing but also
difficult to analyse. There for it’s necessary to reduce the complexity
of data to make comparison and analysis, we reduce to a single
figure or value such value is called as the measures of central
tendency
The representative value of group of values is known as
measures of central tendency
5. Requisites for good measures of
Central tendency:
It should be Rigidly defined
The meaning of the average should be well defined and
precise as to be reliable and widely applicable
It should be easy to understand
An average should be simple to understand so that it can be
calculated with reasonable ease and rapidity
Easy to compute
An average should not only be easy to understand
but also simple to compute so that it can be used widely

The average should depend upon each and every item
of the series so that if any items is dropped the average itself is
altered
EXAMPLE; The arithmetic mean of 10,20,30,40,50 is
10+20+30+40+50/2 is 150/5=30. If we drop one item, say, 50, the
arithmetic mean would be 25
Not to be unduly affected by extreme
observations
Each and every item should influence the
value of the average, non of the items should influence it unduly
