Fda s Code Of Conduct Analysis
The FDA s policy on Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) needs to be revised to require the FDA to
inspect manufacturer s food additive in food. The GRAS has a loop hole that put manufacturer s
products on shelves without the need of FFDA official approval for inspecting the food additives.
Food additive are substances added to food to improve their taste, preservation, and appearance.
Though most food additives are beneficial and provide nutritional value, companies are not realizing
the harmful substance of the food additive and needs to be properly inspected for the safety of the
public. The FDA states that, it is the responsibility of the manufactures, or safety employees, to pass
the food additives as safe. What is important to note is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Until sales dropped 30%, this giant manufacturer introduced My Scene , Barbie dolls debuting

about a certain product they like and tend to ignore the good things of a competing product.
Barbie and cultural aspects: Diffusion and failure
Originating from the concept that different ethnic groups can have their very own stereotyped ideals of
beauty, in a strategy of expanding the global reach of Barbie line to different cultures, Mattel came up
with multi cultural Barbie, i.e. Barbie with different backgrounds, for instance: the coloured Barbie
was warmly greeted in African, American, Hispanic, and Indian cultures. However, there was
controversy over approaches of Mattel in other markets, of which cultures traditional Barbie dolls
were not compatible with. Drawbacks were clearly seen in Mattel s business in several overseas
markets, to name but a few, ban on Barbie in Malaysia due to its lack of Asian appearance; Barbie
confistication in Iran because of its non Islamic features (Ferrell 2007, 484), which go against their
religion in terms of women s image; Barbie rejection in China, a

Tulsa Race Riot Research Paper
Another brutal race riot was the Tulsa Race riot of 1921. On May 30, 1921, Dick Rowland, a 19 year
old african american shoe shiner, entered an elevator with Sarah Page, a 17 year old white elevator
operator. Rowland accidentally stepped on her foot or grabbed her to catch himself from falling. After
screaming, police were called to arrest Rowland. He managed to flee but was arrested the next day.
Newspaper articles and widespread rumors caused people to form a lynch mob. The court case was
held the next day on May 31, 1921. While Rowland was being tried, many white supremacists
surrounded the courthouse waiting to lynch him. At around 10pm, shots were fired, which started the
beginning of the riot. African Americans, some veterans of WWI,

Examples Of Dramatic Irony In The Masque Of The Red Death
In the same way, dramatic irony is when the reader knows something that the characters do not, which
causes the reader to fear or dread what they suspect will happen. The first indication of dramatic irony
is in Masque of the Red Death when the black room with the blood red windows is described. This
description creates a bad feeling about the room and the reader senses something bad will happen in
that room. This idea is proven later when the Prince dies in that room. Another example of dramatic
irony is demonstrated in Terrible Things when Bunting writes We have come for any creature that is
white, the Terrible Things thundered. There are no white creatures here but us (Bunting, Three). This

understand that the Terrible Things are there for them, but the reader has this realization. This alarms

dramatic irony builds suspense in stories is in The Lottery when Tessie says I think we ought to start

significant because her pleading adds to the audience s fear of not knowing what will happen to the

The Impact Of Service Quality Of Indigo Airlines
Introduction
This report seeks to recommend practical strategies on how to improve service productivity, without
neglecting service quality of Indigo Airlines.
Indigo is a budget airline company headquartered at Gurgaon, India (commenced operations from 15
August 2006), specialising in domestic flights. It is the fastest growing and largest airline in India with
a market share of 37.8% as of April 2015. The airline offers about 650 daily flights connecting to 38
destinations which includes 5 international destinations with its primary hub at Indira Gandhi
International Airport, New Delhi. It presently operates am airline fleet of 96 aircraft belonging to the

There are two main aspects that describe and affect both service quality; the actual service customers
expected (expected service) and services perceived (perceived service). Fitzsimmons Fitzsimmons
(2001) explains that the creation of customer satisfaction for a service can be identified through a
comparison between service perceptions with service expectation, see Figure 1.
Methods
Focus on utilizing secondary airports and older terminals should reduce airport fees and also up to a
certain point it is possible to avoid head on competition with or any of the high end airline services.
This will enable less congested airports, reduce average flight times and delay incidents. Consequently
Indigo will start to attract business travellers who value punctuality and frequency.
Other important features that can be added include innovative boarding processes that yield shorter
ground waits are
Reduce and monitor air freights Since these airlines are frequent flyers reducing the load on the

Competitiveness in the Industry
1. The smartphone business has evolved rapidly over the past few years, and has undergone some
shifts in the type of market model. The three basic model types are monopoly, oligopoly and
monopolistic competition. Another type, perfect competition, does not exist in practice but only in
theory as a means of understanding the extreme. Perhaps in a market where ten vendors are all selling
watermelons to an audience that knows its melons, you could argue that there is perfect competition,
but such markets are few and far between in the West.
In the smartphone industry, the competition is characterized by the operating system that the devices
use. Thus, when n the industry was first evolving out of the personal digital assistant industry, there
were only two main players, the Palm and the Blackberry. Apple entered the market and brought with
it a whole new set of consumers to a product that was initially seen as a tool for business. Palm s
popularity declined, but there were other new entrants ranging from Windows to other proprietary
systems and of course to Android. Now, the smartphone industry had evolved into a state of
monopolistic competition with half a dozen platforms all competing for the hearts and minds of
consumers. However, the industry is once again shifting back to duopoly status, with RIM being
marginalized and Apple and Google being the only two players that matter.
2. In the short run, the trend towards duopoly will continue. The two leading products have

Research Paper On Green Sea Turtle
Sea turtles spend most of their life at sea, but when a sea turtle is ready to lay her eggs and mate, she ll
have to travel long miles just to get to the nesting grounds. In the article, SeaWorld Parks and
Entertainment , it states, Green sea turtle populations migrate primarily along the coasts from nesting
to feeding grounds. However, some populations travel 2,094 km (1,300 miles) across the Atlantic
Ocean; from Ascension Island nesting grounds (in the middle of the South Atlantic) to Brazilian coast
feeding grounds. What this evidence is stating is that this particular species of sea turtle, the green sea

Once they reach the shore, they begin to nest, where in the article, Sea Turtles , it states, Sea turtles,
like salmon, will return to the same nesting grounds at which they were born. When females come to
the shore they dig out a nest in the ground with their back flippers, bury their clutch of eggs and return
to the ocean. This evidence highlights the fact that once the female sea turtle lays her eggs, she leaves
and returns back to the ocean until she nest s again. What determines the sex of the sea turtle is fairly
odd. In like most reptiles, the temperature of the sea turtle nest determines the sex of the hatchlings.
Warmer temperatures produce more females, whereas cooler temperatures result in more males. (Sea
Turtles). Females would lay roughly about 100 200 eggs and After hatching, the young may take as
long as a week to dig themselves out of the nest. They emerge at night, move toward the ocean and
remain there, solitary, until it is time to mate. (Basic Facts About Sea Turtles. 2013, March 18). But
unlike females, males never return to the beach once they have hatched from their egg and heads for
the ocean. In the article, Sea Turtles , it states, After their first frantic crawl from the nest to the ocean,
male sea turtles never return to the shore again, and

Behaviour Modification
A Self Control Program for Smoking Cessation
Christine Chambers
Trent University
Introduction
The behaviour modified for this self directed behaviour change project is smoking. Smoking was
selected as the behaviour I wish to change because it is known that tobacco use is the leading cause of
premature, preventable death and disease (Edwards, Bondy, Callaghan, Mann, 2014). Smoking is a
behaviour that has been recently initiated; I started smoking occasionally in August 2013 (one
cigarette a few times a week) and intended to buy only the one pack. However over a period of several
months, my smoking has increased. The rationale for this choosing this target behaviour is that it is
still a relatively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Self Directed Intervention Method
The initial phase of the self directed intervention consisted of baseline measurement of smoking
behaviour. Baseline data was collected for a period of 7 weeks and a functional assessment was
completed during this time. Upon starting the intervention phase, the final target behaviour of
smoking cessation was broken down into smaller, short term objectives lasting 2 weeks each.
Functional assessment revealed that smoking behaviour was often preceded by a busy or stressful
environment (antecedent) and that mood and/or anxiety levels functioned as establishing operations
for smoking behaviour (smoking was often preceded by higher anxiety rating or lower mood rating).
As well, the functional assessment revealed that smoking behaviour was maintained by positive
sensory stimulation (the experience of a slight buzz when smoking) and by temporary
escape/distraction from a demanding environment. Based on assessment results, the intervention phase
consisted of a reinforcement schedule that provided rewards for changing criterion levels for smoking
behaviour. The initial criterion was determined by calculating the mean number of cigarettes smoked
per day during the baseline period. Each criterion level (or short term objective) lasted for a two week
period before changing the criterion level again. The timeline for baseline, intervention, maintenance
phases are outlined in table 1. The initial intervention selected was a

The Son s Veto Analysis

One of the ways Hardy evokes a sense of contrast between the two settings with the use of triads.
Evidence for these can be seen when he describes the initial setting, ...with trees and shrubs and glebe
. He then goes one to describe the second setting, the more industrial of the two as a ...vista of sooty
trees, hazy air, and drab house facades . This helps the reader to visualize and compare the two
settings, for example, when he describes the initial setting as having trees whilst the second setting, he

between the two settings.

Randolph, the son of Sophy and the Reverend, is a boy that has been brought up by expensive

Evidence of this is abundant, when Hardy writes, her only child, on whose education no expense had

Randolph is an upper class boy whose parents had sacrificed wealth and time to bring up, only for the
mother to be neglected by him due to her lower class statues.
Later in the story, Sophy asks Randolph if she can marry the man she has always loved, Sam. Quite
unsurprisingly, Randolph rejects the idea, as having 2 parents in low classes in the hierarchy would be
a liability to his profile in the upper class. However, Randolph injects venom into his rejection, saying,

eyes of all the gentlemen of England! (You being Sophy). It can now be fully interpreted, that

Comparing Pascal s Wager In Catholicism And The Christian God
Pascal s Wager is often considered one of philosophies weakest religious arguments to date. Pascal
invents a wager to persuade the one who questions God into attending church, following the Ten
Commandments, and following any other traditions in the Catholic Church. The wager is, if a person
is a believer and after departing from this earth they find that they are correct, then their rewards are
infinite. They will receive eternal life and a relationship with God in heaven. On the other hand if a
person is a non believer and after death they find that they are incorrect, then their loss is infinite.
Meaning they have the possibility of eternal damnation and separation from God. There are another
two possibilities, in which God does not exist and the believer is incorrect and the non believer is
correct. Both of these scenarios have finite rewards or finite losses. Depending on matter of opinion,
one could say that a life doing good works and being part of a community is a reward in itself whether
or not God actually exists but to someone else it could be a restriction or a loss of freedom. None the
less, if God turns out to not exist the atheist and the theist would only have finite consequences. Pascal
s Wager is rooted in Catholicism and the Christian God. Making the wager apply to much broader
terms would take away the many Gods criticism and make the argument stronger. Restructuring the
Wager and offering the possibility of evidence, which is what Pascal should have

Bismarck And Kaiser Wilhelm s Foreign Policy
Maya Epstein Mr. LeRoy Honors History 1 21 October 2015 1. Bismarck and Kaiser Wilhelm were
two German officials around the time of world war one. They both had foreign policies and they were
both pretty different. Bismarck s foreign policy had many aims. One of the aims was to leave
territorial expansion behind. He unified Germany and to do so had to incorporate many other states
into Prussia. He was also very much in favor of peace instead of war. He also never tried to strengthen
the naval forces of Germany especially not to ruin the relationship with England. Next, he decided to
keep France isolated as well as friendless so that could not start a war as revenge. He also focused on
Germany s relationship with Austria and Russia. He also distrusted Italy. Kaiser Wilhelm s foreign
policy differed from Bismarck s in many ways. Whereas Bismarck did things based on logic Kaiser
Wilhelm did things more based on emotion. This resulted in incoherence and inconsistency in the
German relations with other nations. He wanted an empire that could rival the size of the british. He
also managed to alienate the English by aggressively expanding the navy. He was more aggressive and
wanted Germany to be the best. Their decisions were significant to World War one in many ways. One
of the ways was it fueled European tension prior to the war. The different countries did not like some
the things either of the leaders were doing, and that did not help much. Also, because of the already

SAS No. 1, which established the codification of auditing
standards and procedures, was issued in November 1972 and is currently still in effect. There are
120 Auditing Standard Statements that have been issued since 1972, in which many have been
superseded by new standards. As the auditing profession strives to confirm the accuracy and
credibility of entity financial statements, these standards are required to be updated as the US
economy is constantly changing and auditors are faced with different situations on a daily basis.
Attestation services are guided by The Statements on Standards for Attestation

reason for adopting these standards was to establish a general framework and reasonable
boundaries for attestation services. The standards provide useful and necessary guidance to
CPA s that perform attest services, and to guide designated AICPA standard setting bodies in
establishing the standards for attest services. They are basically an extension to the ten generally

the senate regarding this measure and instead brought it before the popular assembly. His reason for
doing so might have been that he believed it would get bogged down in the senate, as it was a bill
directly affecting their finances or perhaps it was because he only had one year to act and realized the
immediate need for reform. However Tiberius had friends in the senate and it is possible that the bill

males and females and they work together to create babies. The reproductive system is an important

penis, scrotum, testicles, epididymis, vas deferens, ejaculatory ducts, urethra, seminal vesicles,

Where Have All The Rivers Gone Essay
Egypt s history has became one of the extensive histories out of other countries in the world. In
ancient times, the country depended on the Nile River for most of its agriculture. The Nile River
remains an essential part of the country s resources. According to Sandra Postel in her article Where

rice, cotton, and many others. In addition to ancient history, there s plenty to know about Egypt s
modern history. Sometime around 1800, European powers dominated Egypt when other foreign
powers were conquering the country. France and Britain, specifically, invaded the country for
themselves for a moderate amount of time. According to John Esposito, Napoleon Bonaparte of

The Temple Of Divus Augustus

The Temple of Divus Augustus was a major temple originally built to commemorate the first Roman
emperor, Augustus. The temple was built between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, and behind the
Basilica Julia. The temple was built on the site of the house where Augustus inhabited before he
entered the public life around the mid 1st century BC. It is known from Roman currency that his
temple was originally built to a hexagon style design. The size, physical proportions and exact site are
unknown. Provincial temples of Augustus, like the smaller Temple of Augustus in Pula, now in
Croatia, had already been constructed during his lifetime. Most likely because of the popular
resistance to the notion Augustus was not officially adored in Rome until after his death. That s also
when a temple at Nola in Campania, (where he died), seems to have been begun. After that multiple
temples were dedicated to him all over the Roman Empire.

The construction of the temple took place during the 1st century AD. Having been vowed by the

Constantine s Use Of Constantinople As A Site Of Byzantium
Constantinople was a city strategically built both on the outside and inside. Constantine founded
Constantinople on the remains of Byzantium for economic and military reasons, which were
excellently seen through in the city. With the benefits of those actions, Constantine developed a rich
and religious community for his citizens. The site of Byzantium was located on a peninsula and
therefore had innate advantages with trade and protection. Being surrounded by water meant trade
across the Black Sea from the front and two ports on the sides. This led to economic diversity and
prosperity. The water also served as a means of protection, as invaders were not likely to attack via
fleet. With danger primarily coming from one side of the city, a

The difference in size will have an impact on expense, revenue, and income. Every company plans to
get the most out of every dollar spent. Consequently, we will be comparing the their financial
performance from 2007 2009. From the beginning, Walgreens has yielded a better gross profit by an
average of 8% over CVS/Pharmacy. Gross profit is the amount left over after cost of goods sold is
taken from revenue. Although, both have been steady with their percentage gross profit,
CVS/Pharmacy 21% amp; Walgreens 28%, Walgreens has gained more. However, Walgreens
celebration is short lived because the balance statement is more than gross profit. In fact the 8% edge
in gross profit they gave back in operating expenses. Walgreens operating expenses took, on average,
22.5% away from their total revenue. CVS/Pharmacy operating expenses took only 14.5% away from
their total revenue. Moreover, other indicators of return on investment to the company are higher for
CVS/Pharmacy than Walgreens. CVS/Pharmacy has had a higher operating income than Walgreens
since 2007. For the last two years CVS/Pharmacy has posted higher income before taxes than
Walgreens. Finally, the biggest trend difference between the two firms is that CVS/Pharmacy s net
income has increased three years in a row, while Walgreens net income has steadily decreased three
years in a row. As a company, CVS/Pharmacy received a 20% gross profit margin.

War Between Europeans And Indians
Suspicion and hostility, branching from technological and cultural differences, as well as, mutual
feelings of being superior, have infused relations between Native Americans and non Natives in North
America. Intertribal conflicts among the Indians, and nationalistic rivalries, lacking faith, and
expansion desires on the part of non natives worsened these tensions. The resulting white and native
conflicts often took a particularly bad turn and resulted in the near destruction of the native
people(Native American). War between Europeans and Indians was common back in the 1600s. In
1622, the Powhatans nearly wiped out the already struggling Jamestown colony. Frustrated at the
continuing conflicts, Nathaniel Bacon and a group of whites destroyed the Pamunkey Indians before
leading an unsuccessful revolt against colonial authorities in 1676. Continuous wars also plagued
early Dutch colonies in New York. In New England, Puritan forces wiped out the Pequots in 1636, a
campaign s intensity that seemed to shape the future. Following attacks inspired by King Philip
against English settlements sparked a concerted response from the New England Confederation.
Employing Indian partnerships and a scorched earth policy, the colonists nearly wiped out the
Narragansetts, Wampanoag, and Nipmuck tribes in 1675 and1676. A major Pueblo revolt also
threatened New Mexico in 1680 (European). Indians were also a key factor in the rivalries among
France, Spain, and England. In King William s, Queen

Examples Of John Proctor In The Crucible
John Proctor; Tragic Hero or Ordinary Joe Plays have been used as a method of storytelling and form
of entertainment for hundreds of years. A tragedy is one type of play where the audience pities the
characters and fear the same consequences that the characters face. In addition, tragedies often include
a tragic hero who has a tragic flaw causing his or her downfall. One example of a play that is a tragedy
and includes a tragic hero is the The Crucible. John Proctor in The Crucible is a true tragic hero
because he possess the four characteristics of goodness, superiority, tragic flaw, and realization of his
downfall. In order to be a true tragic hero, the protagonist must be a moral and ethical person. Proctor

Together with having extensive land, Proctor´s crops were doing considerably well compared to other
farmers (Act 2). Not all farmers in the region are lucky and suffer from crop failures. Because of his
successful harvest and land, Proctor is considered superior and privileged in the Salem community.
Therefore, Proctor is a tragic hero because he holds the characteristics of superiority. One cannot be a
tragic hero with a tragic flaw. This flaw will lead to the downfall of the protagonist. Proctor s tragic
flaw is his inability to avoid temptation. Specifically, Proctor gave into temptation of Abigail. In Act 1,
Abigail confronts Proctor about his nightly visits to Abigail s window. Proctor agrees that he has been
visiting Abigail, owing to that he can not avoid the temptation of Abigail. Although Abigail and him
are no longer seeing each other, Proctor cannot stay away from Abigail and gives into temptation to
visit Abigail. Another example that demonstrates Proctor s inability to avoid temptation is when
Proctor confesses to the court about his relationship with Abigail (Act 2). In court, Proctor could have
kept the court oblivious to the fact that he and Abigail had a relationship, instead as a last resort,
Proctor gave into the temptation and informed the court. In the process Proctor also ruined his name in
the community. By giving into temptation, Proctor caused his own demise. Tragic heroes eventually

Tay Sachs Essay
Imagine that there is a disease that is terrible and causes trouble for you every day, there is no cure,
there is only the dragging on of day after day. This is Tay Sachs Disease, it is a disease that is lifelong,
that is, unless it kills you early on in life. This disease has lots of symptoms. These symptoms are a
result of how the disease affects the brain and its functionality. This disease is an inherited disease,
and is known as a serious genetic disease.( Health and Wellness Resource center and Alternative

so serious and normally result in the death of the person that has this disease. The person doesn t

this disease. 1 in 3600 Jewish infants are born with Tay Sachs disease. ( Student Resources in Context

parents that either have the disease or are both carriers. Parents can be carriers and not even know it
because this disease is recessive so both recessive alleles have to be present in order for the disease to
show itself. Interestingly, 1 in 27 eastern European Jews are carriers for this disease. ( Student

Loyalty In Macbeth
The Tragedy of Macbeth is a play by the famous playwright, William Shakespeare. William
Shakespeare s plays are known for his character s dramatic aspects and how they are portrayed in the
play towards the reader or onlooker. Macbeth illustrates importance of Kingship and Natural Order. In
Macbeth the notion of honor is of one s word and loyalty to one s superior, in this case the king, King
Duncan. Despite of this, Macbeth displays defective relationships that loyalty is essential to the
relationship. By killing his comrade and friend, Banquo, Macbeth shows that he is untrustworthy and
his egocentric mind. By killing his king and relative, Duncan, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth reveal their
ambitiousness toward the hierarchy. Upon hearing the report of Macbeth becoming the Thane of
Cawdor and the prophecy that he will become king, Lady Macbeth prays to the spirits, ...Come, you

Was Helen Thomas A Hero Of Journalism
Hero of Journalism
On July 20th, 2013, the day female journalist Helen Thomas passed away, President Obama released a
statement, calling Helen Thomas a true pioneer . It is not common for a president to comment on the
death of a reporter, but Helen Thomas was far more than merely a reporter; she was a hero. The
veteran journalist worked for the United Press and United Press International for 57 years. During her
long career life, she never failed to keep presidents on their toes (Obama, 2013). Her work led females
to follow, inspired people and protected public s right, marking her as a hero.

In 1959, the National Press Club barred women as members. She led her fellow female journalists
fought for admission and forced the National Press Club to allow them to attend. She was the first
woman wrote about presidents and wrote aggressively about politics, in addition, the first woman in
some previously male only positions in the National Press Club and White House(Sullivan, 1993).
These accomplishments in journalism would surprise and dismay any journalist whether male or
female. Helen fought against conventional wisdom about female journalists, earning herself as well as
other female journalists an equal position with male journalists. Her pioneering career experience
inspires all the female journalists after her, and many females follow her steps, fighting against sexism
and making marvelous achievements. As Tollefson(1993) writes that The hero lives a life worthy of

Using Visual Stimulation
How Using Visual Stimulation Can Allow Children to Learn Without Being Bored
It all started back in the year of 2000 when I began to teach Sunday school. The children that I taught
were the ages from four years to six years old. I really enjoyed teaching that age group at the time.
Every week I would read them the Bible lesson for that week. I used the expression in my voice to try
to make the lesson interesting. Also, I had an assistant teacher who would do all types of arts and craft
projects with them. This begins to get boring to me week after week. I started to thinking about how I
can teach in a different way. Children in this age group have a short attention span. One day while

U.s. Foreign Policy Of Containment
George Kennan George Kennan was a major factor in the U.S. foreign policy of containment, which
was created during the Cold War in order to prevent the spread of Communist ideology of the Soviet
Union in other countries. After World War II, George Kennan, ...a career diplomat and expert on
Russia... (Roark, Pg.867), had anticipated that the Soviet Union wanted to gain power and expand
Communism throughout other countries, so in order to provide a counterforce and protect American
capitalism, Kennan developed the idea of containment that defended threaten countries from
Communist power with American atomic weapons, economic aid, espionage, propaganda, and army

  • 2. Fda s Code Of Conduct Analysis The FDA s policy on Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) needs to be revised to require the FDA to inspect manufacturer s food additive in food. The GRAS has a loop hole that put manufacturer s products on shelves without the need of FFDA official approval for inspecting the food additives. Food additive are substances added to food to improve their taste, preservation, and appearance. Though most food additives are beneficial and provide nutritional value, companies are not realizing the harmful substance of the food additive and needs to be properly inspected for the safety of the public. Do a case study of its success (or failure) and how it has changed the landscape of product innovations. For example, Thomas and friends has clothes, stationery, household products, jewellery etc. *** She is a successful independent woman, who lives in a world of pink, where she owns a dream house in Malibu. However, My Scene was found to be an imitation of the Bratz dolls and soon flopped (Hope 2011). This refers to the process of selective retention. According to Kotler amp; Keller (2009, 204), consumers may keep in mind positive features about a certain product they like and tend to ignore the good things of a competing product. Barbie and cultural aspects: Diffusion and failure Originating from the concept that different ethnic groups can have their very own stereotyped ideals of beauty, in a strategy of expanding the global reach of Barbie line to different cultures, Mattel came up with multi cultural Barbie, i.e. Barbie with different backgrounds, for instance: the coloured Barbie was warmly greeted in African, American, Hispanic, and Indian cultures. However, there was controversy over approaches of Mattel in other markets, of which cultures traditional Barbie dolls were not compatible with. Drawbacks were clearly seen in Mattel s business in several overseas markets, to name but a few, ban on Barbie in Malaysia due to its lack of Asian appearance; Barbie confistication in Iran because of its non Islamic features (Ferrell 2007, 484), which go against their religion in terms of women s image; Barbie rejection in China, a ... On May 30, 1921, Dick Rowland, a 19 year old african american shoe shiner, entered an elevator with Sarah Page, a 17 year old white elevator operator. Rowland accidentally stepped on her foot or grabbed her to catch himself from falling. After screaming, police were called to arrest Rowland. He managed to flee but was arrested the next day. Newspaper articles and widespread rumors caused people to form a lynch mob. The court case was held the next day on May 31, 1921. While Rowland was being tried, many white supremacists surrounded the courthouse waiting to lynch him. At around 10pm, shots were fired, which started the beginning of the riot. • 5. Examples Of Dramatic Irony In The Masque Of The Red Death In the same way, dramatic irony is when the reader knows something that the characters do not, which causes the reader to fear or dread what they suspect will happen. The first indication of dramatic irony is in Masque of the Red Death when the black room with the blood red windows is described. This description creates a bad feeling about the room and the reader senses something bad will happen in that room. This idea is proven later when the Prince dies in that room. Another example of dramatic irony is demonstrated in Terrible Things when Bunting writes We have come for any creature that is white, the Terrible Things thundered. Another example of dramatic irony is demonstrated in Terrible Things when Bunting writes We have come for any creature that is white, the Terrible Things thundered. There are no white creatures here but us (Bunting, Three). This quotation illustrates dramatic irony because the rabbits do not understand that the Terrible Things are there for them, but the reader has this realization. This alarms the readers and causes one to dread what will happen to the rabbits. One more example of how dramatic irony builds suspense in stories is in The Lottery when Tessie says I think we ought to start over Mrs. Hutchinson said... I tell you it wasn t fair... you didn t give him enough time. Everybody saw that (Jackson, Four). This quotation is a good example of dramatic irony because when Tessie started causing a scene the reader begins to suspect that she will be the one who is chosen. Methods Focus on utilizing secondary airports and older terminals should reduce airport fees and also up to a certain point it is possible to avoid head on competition with or any of the high end airline services. • 7. Competitiveness in the Industry 1. The smartphone business has evolved rapidly over the past few years, and has undergone some shifts in the type of market model. The three basic model types are monopoly, oligopoly and monopolistic competition. Another type, perfect competition, does not exist in practice but only in theory as a means of understanding the extreme. Perhaps in a market where ten vendors are all selling watermelons to an audience that knows its melons, you could argue that there is perfect competition, but such markets are few and far between in the West. In the smartphone industry, the competition is characterized by the operating system that the devices use. Thus, when n the industry was first evolving out of the personal digital assistant industry, there were only two main players, the Palm and the Blackberry. Apple entered the market and brought with it a whole new set of consumers to a product that was initially seen as a tool for business. Palm s popularity declined, but there were other new entrants ranging from Windows to other proprietary systems and of course to Android. Now, the smartphone industry had evolved into a state of monopolistic competition with half a dozen platforms all competing for the hearts and minds of consumers. However, the industry is once again shifting back to duopoly status, with RIM being marginalized and Apple and Google being the only two players that matter. 2. In the short run, the trend towards duopoly will continue. The two leading products have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Paper On Green Sea Turtle Sea turtles spend most of their life at sea, but when a sea turtle is ready to lay her eggs and mate, she ll have to travel long miles just to get to the nesting grounds. In the article, SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment , it states, Green sea turtle populations migrate primarily along the coasts from nesting to feeding grounds. However, some populations travel 2,094 km (1,300 miles) across the Atlantic Ocean; from Ascension Island nesting grounds (in the middle of the South Atlantic) to Brazilian coast feeding grounds. What this evidence is stating is that this particular species of sea turtle, the green sea turtle, has a unique type of traveling pattern that it follows by. Once they reach the shore, they begin to nest, where in the article, Sea Turtles , it states, Sea turtles, like salmon, will return to the same nesting grounds at which they were born. When females come to the shore they dig out a nest in the ground with their back flippers, bury their clutch of eggs and return to the ocean. This evidence highlights the fact that once the female sea turtle lays her eggs, she leaves and returns back to the ocean until she nest s again. What determines the sex of the sea turtle is fairly odd. In like most reptiles, the temperature of the sea turtle nest determines the sex of the hatchlings. Warmer temperatures produce more females, whereas cooler temperatures result in more males. (Sea Turtles). Females would lay roughly about 100 200 eggs and After hatching, the young may take as long as a week to dig themselves out of the nest. They emerge at night, move toward the ocean and remain there, solitary, until it is time to mate. (Basic Facts About Sea Turtles. 2013, March 18). But unlike females, males never return to the beach once they have hatched from their egg and heads for the ocean. • 9. Self Change Program (Behaviour modification) Essay Behaviour Modification A Self Control Program for Smoking Cessation Christine Chambers Trent University Introduction The behaviour modified for this self directed behaviour change project is smoking. Smoking was selected as the behaviour I wish to change because it is known that tobacco use is the leading cause of premature, preventable death and disease (Edwards, Bondy, Callaghan, Mann, 2014). Smoking is a behaviour that has been recently initiated; I started smoking occasionally in August 2013 (one cigarette a few times a week) and intended to buy only the one pack. Self Directed Intervention Method The initial phase of the self directed intervention consisted of baseline measurement of smoking behaviour. Baseline data was collected for a period of 7 weeks and a functional assessment was completed during this time. Upon starting the intervention phase, the final target behaviour of smoking cessation was broken down into smaller, short term objectives lasting 2 weeks each. Functional assessment revealed that smoking behaviour was often preceded by a busy or stressful environment (antecedent) and that mood and/or anxiety levels functioned as establishing operations for smoking behaviour (smoking was often preceded by higher anxiety rating or lower mood rating). As well, the functional assessment revealed that smoking behaviour was maintained by positive sensory stimulation (the experience of a slight buzz when smoking) and by temporary escape/distraction from a demanding environment. Based on assessment results, the intervention phase consisted of a reinforcement schedule that provided rewards for changing criterion levels for smoking behaviour. The initial criterion was determined by calculating the mean number of cigarettes smoked per day during the baseline period. Each criterion level (or short term objective) lasted for a two week period before changing the criterion level again. The timeline for baseline, intervention, maintenance phases are outlined in table 1. The initial intervention selected was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Later in the story, Sophy asks Randolph if she can marry the man she has always loved, Sam. Quite unsurprisingly, Randolph rejects the idea, as having 2 parents in low classes in the hierarchy would be a liability to his profile in the upper class. However, Randolph injects venom into his rejection, saying, I am ashamed of you! It will ruin me! A miserable boor! A churl! A clown! It will degrade me in the eyes of all the gentlemen of England! • 12. Comparing Pascal s Wager In Catholicism And The Christian God Pascal s Wager is often considered one of philosophies weakest religious arguments to date. Pascal invents a wager to persuade the one who questions God into attending church, following the Ten Commandments, and following any other traditions in the Catholic Church. The wager is, if a person is a believer and after departing from this earth they find that they are correct, then their rewards are infinite. They will receive eternal life and a relationship with God in heaven. On the other hand if a person is a non believer and after death they find that they are incorrect, then their loss is infinite. Meaning they have the possibility of eternal damnation and separation from God. There are another two possibilities, in which God does not exist and the believer is incorrect and the non believer is correct. Both of these scenarios have finite rewards or finite losses. Depending on matter of opinion, one could say that a life doing good works and being part of a community is a reward in itself whether or not God actually exists but to someone else it could be a restriction or a loss of freedom. None the less, if God turns out to not exist the atheist and the theist would only have finite consequences. Pascal s Wager is rooted in Catholicism and the Christian God. Making the wager apply to much broader terms would take away the many Gods criticism and make the argument stronger. • 13. Bismarck And Kaiser Wilhelm s Foreign Policy Maya Epstein Mr. LeRoy Honors History 1 21 October 2015 1. Bismarck and Kaiser Wilhelm were two German officials around the time of world war one. They both had foreign policies and they were both pretty different. Bismarck s foreign policy had many aims. One of the aims was to leave territorial expansion behind. He unified Germany and to do so had to incorporate many other states into Prussia. He was also very much in favor of peace instead of war. He also never tried to strengthen the naval forces of Germany especially not to ruin the relationship with England. War Between Europeans And Indians Suspicion and hostility, branching from technological and cultural differences, as well as, mutual feelings of being superior, have infused relations between Native Americans and non Natives in North America.
