2. Aseptic Techniques
Asepsis can be defined as the complete absence of bacteria, fungi, viruses or other
microorganisms that could cause disease. Aseptic techniques refer to a set of skills
that are used to ensure any environment being examined or dressed remains free from
micro organisms by not directly touching the wound or any other surface that might
come into contact with the wound(McFerran and Martin 2008).
Sterilization techniques and effective hand washing technique also play a major role
in maintaining aseptic conditions. Aseptic techniques may be adopted in a number of
environments including surgery, community and ward based nursing. There are
many procedures which require asepsis such as inserting a catheter, suturing a wound
(Aziz 2009) or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Depending on the type of wound this may include debridement, swabbing or using
fluids to remove debris and necrotic tissue. Some patients may even prefer to
shower their wounds with tap water. This should be discussed with the nurse as a
preferred and more suitable method for irrigation, as swabbing may damage fragile
granulation tissue (Briggs 2008) as cited by Griffiths et al (2001).
Once the wound has been cleansed a new dressing appropriate for the type of
wound should be applied as quickly as possible to minimise airborne contamination
(Pegram and Bloomfield 2010). All equipment used in the procedure should be put
in the waste bag provided and disposed of in an appropriate bin.
The ANTT may be used by nurses when they are cleansing wounds or changing
dressings. Wounds healing by primary or secondary intention should be approached
in the same manner whether the wound is open or closed ensuring asepsis
throughout. A solution that is non toxic to the tissue is used to remove debris, wound
exudates and metabolic wastes, these processes are used to cleanse the wound and
help to promote wound healing (Briggs 2008). The ANTT should be adopted when
attending to surgical site wounds, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers and
less superficial wounds such as skin tears and scrapes where the integrity of the skin
has been breached or compromised
3. Analysis Of Jay Gatsby s The Great Gatsby

Jay Gatsby, an exotic millionaire philanthropist, has everything and anything a
man could ever need. He lives a life most could only dream of. A life full of
massive parties, sports cars, mansions, and booze. Yet he is missing something, he
is missing the only thing that could make him truly happy, to live a life with Daisy
Buchanan. He knew that when he kissed this girl, and forever wed his unutterable
visions to her perishable breath, his mind would never romp again like the mind of
God. (pg 119). He was in love with Daisy, and he opened up to her, only to lose her
to Tom who had the money to support her. Money could not buy Gatsby happiness
and finally ends up destroying him.
Wealth has both benefits and dangers. Extreme wealth has the power to allow
someone almost unlimited potential, however wealth can easily corrupt and change a
person for the worse. Once someone has a taste of wealth they always want more. A
prime example of this is the Wilsons, Myrtle and George. They both die because
they truly believed money could buy them happiness. [Tom] What do you want
money for, all of a sudden? [George] I ve been here too long. I want to get away.
My wife and I want to go west. Your wife does! exclaimed Tom, startled.
[George]She s been talking about it for ten years. He rested for a moment against
the pump, shading his eyes. And now she s going whether she wants to or not. I m
going to get her away (pg 131).
4. The Effect Of Iq Scores
James Flynn (1984, 1987, 2007) conducted comprehensive studies of several
intelligence tests and he concluded a long term upward tendency of performance of
IQ scores, by approximately 1 IQ point per every 4 to 5 years. This tendency is
termed as Flynn effect by Herrnstein and Murray (1994) and it varies in different
countries over different time periods. For example the United States developed by
3 points every decade between 1932 and 1978, in Estonia by 1.65 points between
1932 and 2006, Japan gained 7.7 between 1940 and 165, Argentina s gains was 6.91
between 164 and 1998 (Williams, 2013). However, this must be interpreted with
caution as the progression of the IQ increase does not necessary mean that the general
intelligenceadvanced (Urbina, 2014). The Flynn effectcan be explained by several
approaches however these interpretations are not completely explanatory and some
have been found contradictory. A multi level environmental explanation was provided
by Niesser (1998), he argues that the IQ rise occurred due to the tendency which took
part in the second part of the 20th century in some countries where better nutrition,
improved care during pregnancy, urbanization, schooling, television, greater
environmental complexity and pre school surroundings were found. Regarding
schooling and education difficulties arise, as education is unlikely to cause the
changes in all data sets (Williams, 2013). The Flynn effect was rather found in non
scholastic factors, meanwhile
5. Electronic Medical Records And Electronic Health Records
Technology has advanced throughout the years. The effects of these advancements
have been both positive and negative. Not only have these advancements helped
make our lives easier, it has also helped us lived longer. For example, the use of the
computer has evolved in health care. Medical Professionals use the computer for
their daily operations. As a result of the use of the computer, the Electronic Medical
Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) were created. In 2009,
President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which
included the HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical
Health) Act. HITECH instructed the Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services to get

EMR and EHR also helps keep information up to date. A study was done by to
evaluate the staffed nurses attitude and perception of the EHR in Sri Ramakrishna
Hospital. The study found that majority of the staffed nurses (95.5%) found the
EHR as beneficial (Juliet Sudha, 2013). About 68% of the nurses believed that
EHR would be helpful and the about 73% of them believed EHR will reduce the
workload (Juliet Sudha, 2013). Cons Nurses have found the EMR and EHR
beneficial. Many of them have positives views of them. However, not all nurses
have reciprocal feelings towards having patients medical records electronically
distributed. According to Nelson (2016), challenges to EHR usability include
workflow issues, forced word choices, lack of or limited free text, and difficulty
finding data or information, among others. Nurses have stated that inputting
information to the EMR and EHR takes too much time and it is also time
consuming. The most common problem with EMR and EHR are system failures.
Computers crash every time and power outages are really common. If the system
ends up failing, then there might be no back up charts. One major problem would be
the change to EMR and EHR. New nurses might find the change is not difficult.
However, for older nurses that are used to charting might find the change to electronic
charting difficult. Another disadvantage of the EMR and EHR is the
6. Characteristics Of Bull Sharks
Great White sharks are known all around the world for their humongous size and
ferocious teeth, but in the coastal waters of Crystal River there is another predator
that might be smaller in size, but is just as dangerous. Bull sharks, though not the
largest species of shark, are known for being the most aggressive and most likely to
attack a human. It is because these and many other terrifying characteristics that
many experts consider the Bull sharkto be one of the most dangerous sharks in the
world, (http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/). Bull sharks, like almost any other
type of shark, are known for living in salt water, but part of what makes them such a
threat to humans is the fact that they can be found in brackish or even freshwater
as well. What is even more terrifying is that fact that they have been found as far
inland as rivers and tributaries similar to our own King s Bay and Crystal River.
They also can be found in shallow, warm water. While this includes all of the world s
oceans, it also gives more evidence to the fact that Bull sharks could possibly be
stalking the very waters our town is known for. (http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/sharks

Their noses are known for being short and blunt, giving them extreme similarities to
that of a bull, considering a bull s face is known for looking the same way. When you
see Mexican and Spanish bullfighting, the bull always runs head first into the human
that is antagonizing them. This is another way that a Bull shark is similar to a bull,
because they also are known to head butt their prey before attacking, this aggressive
type of behavior helps bring even more light on why this animal was named after a
bull.
7. Unemployment In America
According to the definition provided by the American Psychological Association,
socioeconomic status is defined as a class of a group or individual that is
characterized by income, employment and education. The Appalachian region is its
own geographical and statistical region that is set apart from the non Appalachian
United States. The Appalachian region runs a close race with the United States in
receiving their high school diploma or GED; however, there is a rather significant
difference in the pursuit of a postsecondary education between the U.S. and
Appalachia at 49.6 percent and 55.0 percent, respectfully (Pollard Jacobsen, 2012).

8. Types Of Aphasia And The Nervous System
The nervous system is a complex arrangement of nerves and specialized cells called
the neurons carry messages to and from the brain and the spinal cord to different
parts of the body. Nervous system is consisted of the central nervous system and the
peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system is made up of the brainand the
spinal cord and the peripheral nervous systemis made up of nerves that are outside the
brain and spinal cord. Nervous system diseases affect the functioning of the human
nervous system consisting of the peripheral nervous system and the central nervous
systemand one such disorder is aphasia. Aphasia is a neurological disorder that is
caused by damage to the portions of the brain which is responsible for
communication. Aphasia damages the left part of the brain that contains language
and is usually caused by stroke but at the same time can be caused by other diseases
such as brain tumors, infection, head injury, or dementia that damages the brain.
There are four types of aphasia and they are expressive aphasia, receptive aphasia,
anomic aphasia, and global aphasia.
Expressive aphasia is the loss of ability to convey one s thoughts through speech or
writing. A patient with expressive aphasia knows what they want to say but have
trouble finding the words that is needed to state what they mean. Some of the
symptoms that is shown by a person with expressive aphasia are slow speech,
spelling or grammatical errors, have trouble getting certain

Many people think art is subjective. The answer is: yes, it is. At the same time,
however, there are still yardsticks we can use to measure the quality of the art,
especially among works that belong to the same genre. To understand how this
works, let us use a simple analogy. If you come from a foreign land and have never
eaten char kway teow (fried flat rice noodles), the first time you try the dish, you
may not be able to tell whether it is good or bad. But after you ve tried the dish
from ten different stalls, you will probably be able to tell which is better, and you
probably would be able to define what qualities make for a good plate of char kway
teow. Therefore, in order to know good art when you see it, you need to have seen
a lot of art both good and bad in order to make the comparison. The fact is that
mankind has been producing art for so long that the overall body of knowledge on art
has become so complex that ordinary people cannot comprehend the scope of the
subject without some form of structured education. Most people, however, continue
to attempt to appraise art without investing the time and energy needed to understand
the subject first. The way to learn how to art appreciation is to look at more good art.

10. Production Of Biogas From Renewable Resources Essay
Title: PRODUCTION OF BIOGAS FROM RENEWABLE RESOURCES
ANIMAL WASTE BIOGAS FROM WASTE AND RENEABLE RESSOURCES
Introduction (background information) Nearly three billion people worldwide rely
on biomass fuels (2.4 billion) and coal (0.4 billion) burnt inefficiently on open fires
or simple stoves. These traditional household energy practices have dramatic
consequences for health, the environment and socio economic development.
Ensuring access to clean and efficient household energy is therefore a major and
urgent challenge faced by low and middle income countries. Energy is a key factor
for economic and social development. Worldwide, more than two billion people lack
access to sustainable and modern energy technologies, (Amigun et al, 2008). In
African energy sector, reform is rampant, institutional roles are shifting and new
players are entering the market. Rising prices of crude oils and its related pollution
which has seen decline in ozone layer has seen many countries adopting renewable
methods to substitute this. Othere energy sources like electricity are still out of reach
by many people. energy needs of the developing world have to be met in a
sustainable manner. The invention and diffusion of green energy technologies in
developing countries is one of the strategies perceived as instrumental in combating
the negative effects related to the use of traditional hearths (Rwiza, 2009). In Kenya
the three main sources of energy are: petroleum, electricity and wood

On August 29, 2005, people s lives were about to change forever. A vicious storm
called Hurricane Katrina was about to sweep through the Gulf Coast. Not only
was this storm big, but it was the 5th greatest hurricane in the history of the United
States, and took millions of people by surprise. This storm ruined people s homes,
and lives in less than 24 hours, and nothing would ever be the same again. It
seemed like any normal day for people all over the Gulf Coast, until they get the
news of a soon coming hurricane that is ranked at a category 3, but would soon
change into a category 5 hurricane called Hurricane Katrina. This storm would ruin
homes, kill innocent lives, and leave people struggling to survive for years to
come. This storm would change the way people look at storms. There was chaos
around the country as people were evacuating and preparing for the storm. People
were warned about 2 days before the storm actually hit. Everyone in New Orleans
was ordered to leave for the NWS predicted that the city would be flooded and
inhabitable for weeks after. In New Orleans the Superdome would serve as a

because you will not know if there is any change of information with that particular

you will be left at a loss. This is why Peter Lynch greatly emphasizes throughout his
book on the importance of only investing in companies of which you fully understand
the nature of their business and believe in it.
Peter Lynch poses three important questions to the investor in order to self evaluate
their financial position as well as mental state before deciding to invest in the stock
market: (1) Do I own a home? He advises that buying a house first is the best type of
investment you can make as it, in the long run, just as stocks, always appreciates in
value. (2) Do I need the money now? Only invest money you can afford to lose and
will not be needing in the near future. (3) Do I poses the personal qualities necessary
to succeed in stocks? Some of the personal qualities Lynch deems necessary are lots
of patience, ability to ignore the general panic, tolerance for pain, open mindedness,
persistence, and common sense.
In his book Lynch talks about developing the company story before investing in the
stocks of any company. Being able to develop the story comes from conducting the
research of the company s financial health and
13. Fiscal Policy Vs Monetary Policy
Stimulating, keeping balance, and influencing our economy are only a few things
our nation strives for when it comes to regulating our economy. Two of the powerful
tools our government uses in getting our countries economy in the right direction are
fiscal and monetary policy. Both of these policies are extremely effective in their
own ways and when used together can only help an economy more than harm it.
Taking a closer look at the policies individually, the fiscal policy seems to have a
bigger role in regulating the economy. Through government management the fiscal
policy seems to hold up its part of the deal and betters the economy in the long run.
One of the influential policies that our nation uses is monetary policy. Monetary

The policy objectives are to set base interest rates, or creating easy money
/influencing the supply of money. For example, in the United States, the Federal
Reserve Bank is tasked with achieving maximum employment and price stability at
the same time. One of the tools that the Federal Reserve board uses is purchasing
and/or selling U.S. government bonds in the market which ultimately influences
the supply of money. If a nation is in a recession, the monetary policy may put in
place in order to regulate the economy by selling government bonds for newly
created money. When it comes to the monetary there are several pros and cons that
come hand in hand. A few pros is that there is a small amount of inflation which is
good because it allows investment in the future and workers will expect higher
wages, also in using the monetary policy the banks can act quickly, even though the
currency weakens this can result In a boost in exports. That boost allows products to
be less expensive for foreigners to buy. However, there are many cons that outweigh
the pros. For example, tools such as increasing interest rates affect the economy as a
whole, not really considering the fact that only a part of the country needs the
stimulus. States with higher unemployment may need

The chief definition of thought revolves around the basic concept of the mental
process: The action or process of thinking; mental action or activity in general, esp.
that of the intellect; exercise of the mental faculty; formation and arrangement of
ideas in the mind (OED, 1a). A further subset of definitions can be catalogued into a
Manichean vision of positives and negatives and which equally apply to Hamlet s
central consideration of consciousness as a blessing or a curse. There is a stress on
thought s potentiality which fits with Hamlet s obsession with the infinitude of man:
Conception, imagination, fancy (OED, 4c). But following this comes the negative
view of thought as quasi action, a direct link to Hamlet s stall tactics: The
entertaining of some project in the mind; the idea or notion of doing something, as
contemplated or entertained in the mind; hence, intention, purpose, design; esp. an
imperfect or half formed intention; with negative expressed or implied = not the least
intention or notion of doing something (OED, 4d). Similarly, the past neutral sense of
Remembrance, Е’mind (OED, 5e) is countered by the negative anticipatory
connotation of: Anxiety or distress of mind; solicitude; grief, sorrow, trouble, care,
vexation (OED, 5a). This current of duality is important to keep in mind as we

Access Control Policy
Due in Week Seven: Outline the Access ControlPolicy. Describe how access control
methodologies work to secure information systems
Access control is used to restrict operations, which authorized users can perform.
Access control does exactly what it says, it controls what access an authorized user
can have. A reference monitor is used for access control and follows instructions from
an authorization database. These authorizations are controlled and administered by a
security administrator who sets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also possible under some operating systems for the network or system
administrator to dictate which permissions users are allowed to set in the ACL s of
the resources. Discretionary Access Control has a more flexible environment than
Mandatory Access Control, but also increases the risk that data will be made
accessible to users who should not gain access. Understanding permissions about the
security of file servers on the network will increase network security (Bushmiller,
2011).
2 Mandatory access control
Describe how and why mandatory access control will be used.
Mandatory Access Control (MAC) uses a hierarchy approach to control access to
resources, such as data files. The system administrator is responsible for the
settings in a MAC environment. All access to resource objects is controlled by the
operating system based on setting configured by the system administrator. With
MAC it is not possible for users to change the access control for any resource.
Mandatory Access Control starts with security labels, which contain two types of
information and are assigned to all resource objects on the system. The two types of
16. information are classification, such as confidential or top secret and a category,
which is basically an indication of the project or department to which the object is
available, or an indication of the management level.

21. Cochlear Implants
Hearing loss in childhood and infancy can have a major effect on the development
and continuation of language. It hinders the acoustic signal that enters the ear
canal to not be fully received by the auditory cortex which then affects and distorts
what we receive and how we comprehend the auditory stimuli. There are different
types and degrees of severity of hearing loss that can impair one or both ears, or
can be congenital. Children with a hearing loss that is either severe or profound, in
both ears, sensory neural, or congenital are considered to be a candidate for a
cochlear implant. Cochlear implants are the only way for these children to develop

After then the decision of Caparo Industries plc v Dickman outlined the three fold
test: 1) There should be a relationship of proximity between the parties. 2) The
resulting damage is reasonably foreseeable. 3) The situation should be one in which
the court considers it fair, just and reasonable that the law should impose a duty of a
given scope.
This is not an easy test to meet. Firstly, a special relationship is required for the third
party to claim that the defendant auditor owed him a duty of care. In order to define
this concept, Lord Oliver outlined further conditions for the claimant to establish
sufficient proximity with the defendant party. Thus the relationship of proximity is
hard to specify which placed increasing difficulties on claimants. Secondly, once the
claimant has established that the auditor did have a duty of care towards him, he will
then need to show that this duty has been breached. It is even less likely that a breach

United Kingdom gets constituted by four countries: the England, Wales, Scotland
and Northern Ireland. There is no single arrangement of reports that contains the
entire of the law of the UK. Moreover, UK law is likewise not classified, that brings
a level of conviction to the law as it permits nationals to recognize plainly whether
something is unlawful and the examination methodology that it will create. Absence
of codification prompts the legitimate framework being firm as innovative
improvements go before past that which the lawmakers thought. Despite its flaws
and solidness, the English basic law, as an agent of the normal law of the UK, is a
standout amongst the most productive ones. All states need to embrace the same or
somewhat changed legitimate framework. Some law applies all through the entire of
the UK; a few applies in a few countries. The four main sources of English and Welsh
law are legislation or statutory, common or case law, European Convention on the
Human Rightsand European Unionlaw.
Body
1)Statutory
The primary source of law for the UK is statutory or legislation, which is the law
passed by Parliament. Essential law will come into power after level headed
discussion and consequent approbation in the House of Commons. It will then
undergo support in the House of Lords and will then get Royal Assent in the event
that it is to end up law. Secondary enactment is law made outside of Parliament
where the ability to make law has formerly been allowed by

Rhetorical Reading Essay(Revision)
Since they started pouring the concrete for the dam Lake Powell has been a center
of controversy. From nature preservationists to ancient ruins advocates the subject
has been heated and intense. On the other hand, those who support Lake Powell are
just as avid and active in their defense of the reservoir. One of the former, Edward
Abbey, sets forth his plea, hoping it does not fall upon deaf ears.
Abbey attempts in his article to help the reader visualize Glen Canyon before it was
dammed up. He uses a lot of pathos to help the reader feel the beauty of the previous
Glen Canyon and the ugliness of the present. His article seems to be ... Show more

These effects are perfectly normal when working with a reservoir and as he points
out are not permanent. Sodden garbage strewn about, dead trees, sunken boats, the
skeletons of long forgotten, decomposing water skiers; (147) These are all
attempts to bring the reservoir in a negative light but these do not come from the
reservoir but from careless patrons and the inevitable accidents. If the number of
people who visited Lake Powell visited the former Glen Canyon area, the garbage
and deaths and other negative aspects would be at the same ratio because some
humans are simply careless and draining a reservoir is not going to change that.
Often times Abbey tries to appeal to our emotions through connotation and
metaphors by creating a picture perfect image of what Glen Canyons used to be like
with its varied flora and fauna and beautiful landscape. Unfortunately this attempt is
flawed because anyone who has ever been to Lake Powell or seen pictures knows
that it is equally as beautiful as and maybe even more so than the common river and
surrounding landscape scene.
Abbey employs a great use of sentence structure and connotations when refuting the
claim that Lake Powell is the most beautiful reservoir in the world. Certainly it has a
photogenic backdrop of buttes and mesas, projecting above the expansive surface of
stagnant waters where the speedboats, houseboats and cabin cruisers play. But

It seems to me, my dear friend, that the music of this ballet will be one of my best

The Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky is another ballet that is based on a fairy tale,
and was first presented to the Tsar of Russia.
It tells the story of Princess Aurora, King Florestan s daughter. The fairies have been

Pas d action
There is a minor brass introduction followed by ascending and descending major
scales played by the harp. The strings play a legato melody and there is a pedal
note in the woodwind. The music modulates back to minor and there is a
crescendo with a sequence and use of the timpani. There is a descending arpeggio
played by the brass section, and then the string melody is repeated with brass

then played by brass. It is then repeated with cymbal crashes, brass fanfares and a

The harp and pizzicato bass strings accompany a legato string melody in major.
There is a crescendo and diminuendo, and then melody is repeated. The music is
quite fast and again has a #190; rhythm. There is a modulation to minor and the
strings play a sequence, which is repeated by brass. Major harp scales close the piece.
Waltz
The piece opens with a major ascending sequence by the orchestra with an imperfect
cadence. Bass instruments play the waltz rhythm for 2 bars then the strings come in
with the sequential legato melody.
26. Personal Statement On Identity And Personality
Identity is very significant in one s life. Every person in this life goes through a
phase of self assessment that involves trying to identify the different elements that
compose one s identity and personality, which can be perceived as an ultimate
personal quest to answer the question who am I? Many cultures have rituals that
provide the foundation for self development of the individual and provide a pathway
that guides the individual to the answers he or she is looking for. Since my birth, I
belong to certain Community or Social Groups which can influence my identity and
personality. The first was my nationality and family. I have been born in India and I
belong to Hindu Cultureand Religion group. I had been given my name Harshit by
my aunt which means One who gives happiness or Joyful or Happy . I represent my
Identity by showing my group which I belong to and how the group affects my
personality. When I came to the United Statesfor my further undergraduate studies, I
joined classes, sports clubs and university clubs. These activities were part of my
college curriculum. Overall, now I belong to multiple Social Groups such as my
family, my classes, Hindu culture and religion, universities clubs, community groups
and sports club. Within these groups, I have acquired good knowledge and have
completely changed my conduct, how to get involved in social life and how to
communicate effectively and fluently in English.

Social presence is essential to the shopping experience. This tiny touch of social
environment is an important item between the consumer and the seller. People used
to ask the waitress what do you recommend? They ask the perfume seller what scent
is your favorite? during this time, sellers receive these questions as personal
questions. This small conversation which relies on personal experience, drive
consumers to choose their purchases. On other words, when the sellers show their
product as what they are accustomed to buy or use, that usually affects the consumer
s decision. When the seller uses phrases such as my favorite is that or I used to use
this , it is usually followed by mentioning the product s features, which could create a
comfortable stand between the consumer and the seller. These simple comments
which have the pronoun I make the consumer eager to buy or prefer this product
particularly. This is what Khaled Hassanein and Milena Head tried proving in their
study Manipulating perceived social presence through the web interface and its
impact on attitude towards online shopping. After the appearance of online shopping s
phenomenon, consumer and seller lost the direct connection between each other. The
relationship between the seller and the consumer became stranded between the
consumers and their devices. Nonetheless, Sellers have never accepted losing their

30. Analysis Of The Movie Requiem For Detroit
Requiem for Detroit? is a historical documentary, released in 2010 and directed by
Julien Temple, about the decline and collapse of Detroit, one of America s largest
cities. It chronicles Detroit s journey through its success in the automobile industry all
the way through its urban decay and industrial collapse to the present day. As the film
draws a close, Temple also suggests some ways forward for Detroit. He presents
possibilities and clearly shows which he thinks is most likely through his use of
interviews with subjects and visual representations of these offered opinions. The
intended reading that Temple offers viewers is a complex one, with many anti
consumerist and anti corporate ideas and leanings. Despite the doom laden feel of
much of the text, Temple paints optimism for the potential for a progressive and
productive future for Detroit. Throughout the documentary he clearly expresses this
intended reading through effective use of motifs, shown by visual and sound
techniques, music and interviews with both privileged and non privileged characters.
One element of film that Julien Temple consistently reverts to throughout his film
Requiem for Detroit? (Temple, 2010), is the element of motif. Both visual and aural
motifs, used separately and in conjunction, are used to great effect to present and
enhance the reading of the film that the director intended. Some key motifs used are
fire, abandoned buildings, graffiti and many sound effects depicting destruction and
31. The Call For A Revised Study On Secession
The call for a revised study on secession come from one of the leading historians in
Walter L. Buenger s article, Secession Revisited: The Texas Experience. Buenger
argues there exists an extensive amount of studies on secession, but the focus of these
studies centers on individual states actions, no one has attempted to synthesize these
works and write a history of secession for the entire South. He asserts that Texascould
serve as a model if someone conducted a synthesize study of secession for the entire
South. Buenger supports this claim utilizing Terry Jordan study previously mentioned
above study on Upper and Lower South, by outlining the attributes (culture, economic,
and political ideologies) of those found in Texascompared to the attributes found in
the Upper and Lower Southern states. Key to his analysis is his detailed description
of the four political factions found in Texas. Radical separatists, a small group
wanting to secede immediately, shared the Lower South culture and ideology of
defending Southern rights. They believe the responsibility of the nation centers on
protecting the rights and property of the individuals. Moderate secessionists shared
the Lower South Democratic party characteristics, of the slaveholding and cotton
growing culture. These moderates also included some wheat growers from the Upper
South and Germans living in close proximity to the cotton growers that supported
secession. Moderate unionists shared

This periodization training program is designed for women gymnasts overall at the

uneven bars, beam, vault, and floor exercises (Gymnastics Artistic, 2015). Gymnasts
perform complete vaults in different positions after exploding off the springboard
and pushing off the table (Gymnastics Artistic, 2015).The uneven bars require upper
body strength, and precision timing to perform well in this event. The gymnast can
go from low bar to high bar, from high bar to low bar, or from releasing from a bar
and continuing back on the same bar (Gymnastics Artistic, 2015). The balance beam
routine flows from one movement to the next and involves high flying release ...

By focusing on increasing lean muscle, the gymnast will also help improve their
power, and muscular endurance. The entire macrocycle will be for an entire year.
Within year long macrocycle there specific mesocycles that complete the
macrocycle. This macrocycle will consist of six mesocycles including preparatory,
sport specific, competition, and postseason phases (Eubanks Gonzalez, n.d). The
mesocycles will then be divided into specific microcycles which will explain what
the gymnast will do for the week. Typically female gymnasts are characterized as
having highly complex coordination coupled with both isometric and explosive
force (Sanchez et al., 2013). The overall goal for these athletes would be to
increase muscular strength and muscular power to allow for maximum
performance, and to gain more flexibility in order for the gymnast to perform each
event with ease due to full range of motion (ROM). Flexibility drills will be done
throughout the program to help benefit the gymnast. Gymnasts will improve agility,
coordination, and balance, by practicing sport specific skills (Eubanks Gonzalez,
n.d). These sport specific skills will be covered primarily during the off season.
Strength and power will continue into the pre season where the athlete s basic
strength will be increased as well (Eubanks Gonzalez, n.d). Speed, agility, balance,
and coordination will be maintained throughout the macrocycle in order for peak
performance to be reached during the competition phase or in season (Eubanks
Gonzalez, n.d). The program will first begin with a low intensity through the first
three phases, then begin to spike at phase four, and it dramatically increase from
phase four to phase six (Eubanks Gonzalez, n.d). It will increase during this time
period to ensure that gymnast reaches their training peak

the restaurant industry and how these factors increase or decrease the demand for
such services. The hypothesis that will be examined is that the performance of
restaurants is mostly based on the type of food chosen by customers when they

food refers mainly the nationality or concept of the food, (traditional American,

and cultural and institutional differentiation. In so doing, we will discuss the
possibilities or the lack of endogenously generated social change within American
Indian societies and cultures. Mainly this essay will concentrate on two important
aspects of world view that contribute to conservatism in Native American cultures.
The two aspects are as follows, holistic Native American beliefs versus dualistic
world views, and in so discussing we will illuminate the reader s knowledge about the
differences in views of purity and salvation. The second important aspect is that of the
economic ethic: American Capitalism versus Native American subsistence labor...

For Native Americans the creatures and resources that the Creator has created are not
here for man to use and manipulate, thou Native Americans use the land they do not
believe that man is any more special than any other creature. Native Americans
believe that all living things have a soul were Christians believe that man is the
center of the world and the only creature with a soul. This distinction makes it vary
difficult for Native American communities to accept change and adapt to capitalism.
Another underlining reason as to why change is so difficult to implement in Native
American communities is because every aspect of tribal life is so interconnected that
change in one aspect of life would inadvertently mean change in the entire outlook. In
Native American tribes, all aspects of life, whether it is religion, economy, or polity
are all interlinked. As Professor Champagne said , Native American tribes are like
onions, they are layers upon layers centered on creation stories and ceremonies. A
good example of this is the Hopi community. Clans and families within villages
organize Hopi religious, ceremonial, and political leadership. Although the particular
way in which Hopi institutions are constructed is unique to them, a pattern of
undifferentiation is observed among them because religious, political, economic, and
kinship structures are tightly interrelated and

long lasting effects. Due to imperialization, Somalia is much different now than it

imperialized Somalia for two main reasons. One reason was that tension from war

Throughout known history, societies that have developed across the globe have
favored men. Men were permitted to be lawyers, doctors, voters, and land owners;
however, one of the most influential, yet underpaid occupations for an individual is
the writer. Men have served for centuries as the mouthpiece for truth regarding all
things, until early feminists pushed for girls to receive education including key
success skills such as reading and writing. Most men were not thrilled about this
revolutionary change. Their efforts to uphold the traditional roles of women are

Feminist theory was developed to recognize injustices against women, and proposes
action to change the situation universally (Young 20). The 1960s and 70s brought
second wave feminism, which occurred during the same time as the Civil Rights
movement and protests against the Vietnam War (Rich 7). The second wave of
feminism was said to be a transition focused on individual rights (Freedman 3).
Feminists who belonged to other minority groups received poor recognition from
mainstream feminists (Rich 31). Many issues among feminists themselves can be
seen on a larger scale throughout society itself; however, in order for second wave
feminism to be a success, cultural issues such as homophobia and racism needed to
be ironed out from within the group before feminists could expect any forward
progress. Due to poor recognition from white feminists, Black Feminism, as well as
several other subcategories of feminism, developed during this time (Freedman 4).
Black feminism arose from the civil rights movement and mainstream feminism.
From civil rights activists, black women were treated as second class citizens , and
racism came from their fellow feminist sisters. Black women ran an uphill battle,
fighting racism, classism, and even at times homophobia (Rich 32).
Black women are inherently valuable, and that our liberation is a necessity not as an
adjunct to somebody else s but because of our need as human persons for autonomy

41. Vpn Exists For Virtual Private Network
Introduction VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. It provides a private network
across the public network (Internet). This allows the user to transmit and receive
data to the private network across Internet, like it is being directly connected to it.
VPN has the characteristics of point to point and private link. To resemble a point
to point link, the data is sent along with the routing information necessary to reach
the destination through the public network. Data is encrypted and only the users in
the network can access the resources in it, which resembles the characteristics of a
private connection. Data sent through the VPN is very secure, as it cannot be
deciphered without the encrypted keys. In VPN, tunnel is the part of the
connection where data is encapsulated and VPN connection is the part of the
connection where the data is encrypted. Figure 1: VPN Connectivity Overview
VPN helps users working remotely to connect to the company infrastructure

President Donald J. Trump has issued an executive order that has banned immigrants
from entering the United States of America. Enacting this prohibition would damage
America s reputation as the melting pot that we once were. A group of presidents of
leading American colleges and universities wrote a letter urging Donald Trump to
rectify the recent executive order. The authors use different strategies such as ethos,
emotional appeal, and logos to persuade Donald J. Trump to rectify the executive
order banning immigrants from the United States. The authors establish credibility for
themselves using ethos. They state that they are the presidents of leading American
colleges and universities which effectively demonstrates their integrity as leaders of
the nation s most prestigious institutions. The reputation they assert early in the letter
identifies them as highly reliable and upright, thus validating that that their opinions

43. Why Should Catch 22 Be Banned
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller, a book with a purpose to provide comic relief to the
hearts of many After the horrors of the Korean War. Catch 22 is a book set during
World War II and shows an American B 52 bombardier named Yossarian and
displays his experiences at a U.S. Air Force base in the small island of Pianosa
west of Italy. Catch 22 is renowned by many who have enjoyed the book s realism
and use of satire, but some beg to differ and often criticize the book over the
excessive use of profanity. In some cases the book has been outright banned such as
the case in Strongsville, Ohio where the school district banned the book from school
libraries due to the use of profanity and racial slurs repeated often throughout the
book. Many schools across... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the 1st amendment guarantees the right to freedom of the press among other
things books are protected under said right as decided by Lamont v. Postmaster
General (1965), a book can not be banned from schools because a school is an
extension of the government, and if a school were to ban a book because of
language, violence, etc. the government would essentially be suppressing the 1st
amendment. A quote from the American Library Association website from a court
case which involved Strongsville school board attempting to ban Catch 22 from the
school district is as follows, The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit ruled
against the School Board, upholding the students First Amendment right to receive
information and the librarian s right to disseminate it. The removal of books from a
school library is a much more serious burden upon the freedom of classroom
discussion than the action found unconstitutional in Tinker v. Des Moines School
District (Notable 1st Amendment Court Cases). The 1st amendment protects the
rights of the book to remain inside of schools because if Catch 22 was banned that
school would be suppressing the 1st amendment right therefore breaking the
constitution. The 1st amendment protects a person s right to freedom of speech,
religion, etc., but also provides rights to that of
44. how appreciation affects interest rates and exchange rates
1.Explain the how appreciation affects interest rates and exchange rates. How does
this influence commodity currency? Should we return to a gold standard? Why or
why not?
Business dictionary defines an exchange rate as the rate at which one currency can
be exchanged for another. In other words, it is the value of another country s
currency compared to that of your own. If you are planning a trip to travel abroad
this is something that needs to be calculated along the trip, because in order to
purchase goods or services while aboard one would need to purchase the local
currency. Just like the price of any asset, the exchange rate is the price at which you
can buy that currency. If you are traveling within Europe, for example, and ... Show

For instance, if the dollar depreciates relative to the euro, the exchange rate rises.
When the dollar depreciates relative to the euro, the dollar becomes more
competitive because the price of American goods when exchanged to euro will be
cheaper leading to a larger American export. On the other hand, European countries
that denominate its goods and services in Euros will have lost competitiveness to
the dollar. The price of European products will thus become more expensive in
America. A currency appreciates as a result of increased demand for that currency
on world markets. Its value in the world market increases. This increase in demand
can occur for several reasons which include: When a country s exports are high, the
buyers of these exports need its currency to pay for those exports. Also when the
country s central bank increases interest rates, people will want that currency to
deposit in the banks to earn that higher interest rate. The higher the interest rate the
stronger the currency.
Gold standard Between 1870 and 1914, there was a global fixed exchange rate.
Currencies were linked to gold, meaning that the value of a local currency was
fixed at a set exchange rate to gold ounces. This was known as the gold standard.
This allowed for unrestricted capital mobility as well as global stability in
currencies and trade. However, with the start of World War I, the gold standard was
abandoned. To help combat the Great Depression, faced
