Non Human Primate Reproductive Strategies
A key element in the life of any individual is to be able to reproduce. Nonhuman primates number
only 250 species but display great diversity in grouping patterns. We call some of these types of
groupings a one male polygyny or monogamy. However, the main focus today is that these primates
have evolved different strategies, behavioral and ecological, to cop with the need to balance limited
food supplies while avoiding predators with intensions of mating and or harming their offspring. It has
been assumed that in order for male primates to reach mating success, they must have to take on the
task of always being present to the female and her offspring s. I believe that I will argue that
monogamy and one male polygyny are different yet both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Dunbar, 1983) Among mountain gorillas, half of all the groups are one male. However, females leave
from one group to another. Polygynous females might be compensated for loss of exclusive paternal
care by mating with a genetically superior male, thereby increasing the likelihood of their progeny s
survival and ability to produce offspring (Alatalo and Lundberg 1986). (Hoglund, J. 1995) The
competition for these mating opportunities is driven by the female s choice. When this occurs, the
males lose females to another one male group and it exploits what males mating opportunities. When
one male group doesn t have the luxury of having females, they form or join a group of males similar
to a bachelor s group. In some of these species, the group of males attacks the one male group in order
to take his throne and seize the females (Hoglund, J. 1995). Sometimes, the females may get tired of
sharing the male with the other females in the group. Hoglund recorded (1995, pg. 76) so they seek
out males from all male groups to mate with during breeding season. Such influxes occur seasonally
between blue monkeys (Rowell, 1988), Hanuman Langurs (Boories et al., 1999), ring tailed lemurs
(Sussman, 1992), and sifakas (Richard 1992). A nonhuman

Cinematography Analysis Of Polanski s Chinatown
Cinematography Analysis in Chinatown
Chinatown is based on Roman Polanski s lifeworks. Polanski s goal is to emphasizes the meaning of
how cinematography is made, and how it inspires by understanding the concept of setting, lighting,
and how the image is captured. This film was released in 1974 by director of Roman Polanski to focus
on private investigator J.J. Gittes, played by Jack Nicholson to investigate the elements behind the
truth. Polanski s goal is to emphasize the audience to give an ominous feeling of the main character,
J.J. Gittes and his point of view by showing in color instead of black and white pictures. Due to these
reasons, Polanski wanted to use Panavision to give a flawed vision about the past, which the story is
set in the years of 1937. Polanski states, a traditional detective story with a new, modern shape for
Paramount picture. (1) This paper focuses on the film Chinatown which is neo noir, not only because
of the setting, but the concept of cinematography that connects duplicates occurrences together that
describe three categories: background of the cinematographer, point of view of the main character, and
the interpretation of the ending scenes.
First of all, Roman Polanski hired John A. Alonzo as the Director of Photography for Chinatown.
Therefore, Alonzo was well known for his notable works, as Director of Photography position after
Chinatown s successful film is Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Scarface, and Star Trek:
Generations. (2)

Twelfth Night Feste The Fool
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, the word fool can be defined in many ways. A fool can
be a stupid or silly person , or one who is made to appear foolish , a dupe, a jester, or one who lacks
good sense or judgement . The average child would see clowns or their fathers as silly fools. The more
mature mind would describe fools as drunkards or annoying coworkers. While the many definitions
above are valid, they are not as accurate in describing Feste the Fool in Shakespeare s Twelfth Night.
In actuality, Feste is no fool at all. His wit, smarts, and observational skills make him the most
intelligent and engaging character in the play.
Feste is renowned for his wit and impressive use of puns. He is a genius with words, and his ... Show

His choice to stay uninvolved in the many conflicts allows him to remain the impartial observer of the
play. However, despite his objectiveness, he still enjoys participating in the fun and mischievous
activities in Illyria, placing him both inside and outside the play. Better put, he takes part in the play s
craziness, but he is also able to step outside Illyria and look in. As a result, he is capable of
illuminating the foolishness of human nature through his ability to point out the folly in others. This is
made possible in virtue of his gift for analyzing and judging situations and the other characters. In Act
2 scene 4, Fool rightly observes Duke Orsino s love for Olivia as fickle and not genuine when likening
his mind to an opal, implying that he changes his mind as much as an opal changes color (which is
very often). He observes how foolish Olivia s excessive mourning is when grieving over her dead
brother (Act 1 Scene 5 Lines 64 69), and on several accounts points out the absurdity of Sir Toby s
over indulgent lifestyle in witty banter. Fortunately for Feste, because he is an allowed Fool (Act 1
Scene 5 Line 93), he is licensed to voice his observations without trouble, earning him many laughs
for speaking his mind. Fool s honest observations make him the comedic truth of the

Essay On AIDS
On larger scales as well, societies have been depriving LGBT people of their histories and rights in
order to preserve the current social and cultural climates. As rigid social classes have started to
become more blurred, AIDs literature has become more mainstream and the history of the AIDs crisis
in terms of gay people has become less shadowed. The first truly definable category of AIDs writing is
in the face of the initial media blackout, wherein only those who were affected by the disease wrote
about it, or consumed media related to it. This was when being gay was even more
dangerous/considered irreparably immoral, and the tone of the writing has shifted in the modern day
to more generalized, hopeful themes. (McDonald) It has taken a ... Show more content on

While the issue being discussed is whether trans* people are allowed to use the restroom that best
corresponds with their gender, the real question being discussed is whether or not trans* people are
allowed to exist in public spaces; if they can t safely use the restroom in a public space, then they can t
exist in that space for very long without either leaving or putting themself in danger. They either
remove themself or someone removes them. It s a more direct method compared to restriction of
information, but the intent and the outcome are the same; erasure of LGBT people from the public
consciousness. Similarly, and more specifically, The 1969 Stonewall Riots and subsequent American
revolutions were misrepresented and redirected in order to preserve the social climate as much as
possible. Sylvia Rivera, despite being a huge part of the Stonewall Riots and helping, according to
many historians, to kickstart the US LGBT rights movement, is hardly ever mentioned outside of in
depth LGBT conversations. Rivera was a huge part of LGBT history, and even then not many young
or newly realized members of the community know about her because she was a trans*woman of
color, the most threatened and erased LGBT denomination. In a work titled The Stonewall uprising,

The Fear Of Public Speaking
I ve always felt that public speaking is something that has come pretty natural to me. It was
throughout high school and again in college that I realize not everyone felt the same way. I found that
many people often dread public speaking. In college, it was really exemplified this first semester when
I heard that many people had to take a course called Communications 103, which primarily focuses on
writing and giving speeches. It didn t take this course this semester, so all I knew about it was what I
had heard through my peers. Some had a similar outlook on public speaking and said they didn t mind
having to give speeches, but others nearly had panic attacks leading up to them. It was this mixed
opinion on speeches that made me question why this happens, if there is a way to alleviate the fear,
and if a fear of public speaking is an actually thing.
In Ellysa Gonzalez s journal article Professional Speaker to Give Lecture at Tech about Public
Speaking , she explains how public speaking anxiety or the fear of public speaking, is a real thing. In
trying to explain how exactly this fear exists, Gonzalez explains it is partly because of the human need
to feel accepted . In the journal Gonzalez explains that this fear s technical name is glossophobia . It is
also among the top five most common fears (Gonzalez). After identifying that this is an actual fear
driven by the possibility of one not being accepted by those around them. Gonzalez s article goes on to

Why Is Italy An Amazing Place
There are many wonderful places in the world, but people believe that Europe has the best ones. For
example, Italy is such an amazing place to go to, either for vacation or to live there. There are many
mesmerizing things in Italy that can catch anyone s attention, such as going to museums, or go
sightseeing. The weather changes throughout the year, but it s still marvelous for tourist to go out and
do activities. There is many different types of things a tourist could do while in Italy. If the tourist
likes to visit museums while they are in vacation there is a variety of them. Some of the museums they
could visit the Galleria delgi Uffizi it is an art museum located in Florence, Italy. This museum would

It changes a lot throughout the year, but it is rare for Italy to have really high temperatures compared
to other places. It is great weather for the tourist to do many outdoors activities that would be fun,
enjoyable and unforgettable for everyone. The Colosseum would be a great activity to do, visiting the
place where the gladiators once fought. It would be also absolutely perfect with the weather in Italy,
since it won t be extremely hot. The Grand Canal tour is a lovely boat ride that takes you on a tour of
Italy. It is a breath taking and unforgettable tour that no one ever wants to miss. The great part of the
tour is learning little pieces of the history of some places and routes that no one takes in Italy and also
learning the background of things that the tour guide tells you and the fun facts makes everything
better. The best part is that if it is a group of 8 people they could all fit in one boat and enjoy the ride

What Was The Impact Of Nationalism In Germany Between 1815...
Nationalism was a result of a myriad of contributing factors which had a plethora of significant
impacts on Germany during the years 1815 and 1871. Nationalism is an ideology based on the sense
of loyalty and devotion one has to their nation and the beliefs that those who share a common
language, history, and culture should constitute an independent nation free of foreign domination. The
first, and perhaps most significant, effect that nationalism had upon Germany was that it led to
German unification in 1871. Another impact that nationalism had in Germany was that it allowed
Germans to develop a sense of national identity. Nationalism also played a huge role in enabling
Germany to become a dominant power within Europe. Therefore, nationalism ... Show more content

Many attempts to unify the separate German speaking countries were made prior to its official
unification, however, they were all ultimately unsuccessful. This was due to the fact that although the
people were Germanic, they had little sense of a national identity. Nationalism was a driving force
behind the development of a national consciousness as it assisted people in realising that they were all
German and, as a result, were all similar in many ways. These commonalities encouraged the
emergence of a distinct German identity. The biggest cultural factor was undoubtedly the German
language. Although there were different dialects used among the states, these variations emerged from
the same source, hence, the German people had shared a common language. All the states also shared
customs and a common culture, which stemmed from similar tastes in literature and music. There was
an increase in German literature, from the works of Goethe and Schiller, that recognised common
German characteristics and an interest in folklore also emerged at the time, as a result of the works of
The Brothers Grimm, who presented these tales as German in origin and changed details that
suggested different origins. What became the German national anthem was a poem that read
Deutschland über alles / Über alles in der Welt , which translates to Germany above all else / Above
all else in the world . The task of creating the German nation state was one that required and generated
a significant amount of hope in the citizens of Germany, who were able to transcend territories,
borders and different cultural

Skipping Meals On A Daily Basis
To begin with, since I came to Saint Leo University I have been skipping meals on a daily basis. It s
not because I want to but it s because my schedule is busy on a daily basis. However, when I do get
the chance to eat lunch I take advantage of it. Then when I m really busy I usually grab a yogurt to eat
on the go or even a sandwich I can snack on. But, with me skipping meals on a daily basis is very
unhealthy and I m making progress by making improvements with my eating habits. Firstly, I began
by creating a smart goal and used it motivation to help decrease the amount of time I skip meals. I
started eating breakfast in the dining hall or either in my dorm. I usually eat breakfast at 7:30 am or it
varies depending on my schedule. For breakfast, I usually eat cereal, oats, or French toast and
sometimes an English muffin. I stay away from the bacon because pork bacon is too oily and I like
turkey bacon more. Sometimes, I would eat the original and strawberry low fat yogurt mixed with
granola crumbs. Other than breakfast, sometimes I would eat lunch when my schedule is less hectic.
Normally, Monday s and Friday s is the two days that I defiantly eat lunch. This is because on Monday
s I don t have work in the afternoon, so I m free from 12:20pm and on Friday s I leave campus to go
home. When I do eat lunch, I usually have small portions of rice, or macaroni with chicken breast or
chicken wings. The chicken is normally baked or stewed. Also, sometimes I would have a salad

Corruption Of Prisoners In Plato s Arguments Of Democracy
In a dark cave there are prisoners, restricted to seeing what shadows puppeteers cast upon the stone
screen in front of them. This timeless story by Plato, used as a metaphor for those that are, to the
philosopher Plato, lowbrows, and have no desire to question what is around them and find the truth
and embrace ignorance. I have experienced this first hand, being an exemplification of what it means
to not question what I have faith in, or seek more. However, I have also experienced what it is to be
the prisoner that turns his head, as well as the prisoner that turns the other cheek.
When Plato was writing this dialogue, his goal was to show those in the metaphorical cave, how daft
and short sided he believes them to be. When Plato articulates the puppeteers through the voice of
Socrates, he says, ...and between the fire and the prisoners there is a raised ... Show more content on

Currently, I believe our nation s voters are in a bad state, to quote Winston Churchill, The best
argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter. I believe you can
apply these words to show how corrupt the average voter is. Today, the prisoners in the cave are those
that vote according to social standards, and support whatever is generally accepted as just. Those that
turn their heads are those that vote and mold their beliefs to reflect the word of God through Jesus
Christ. 11 score and 19 years ago, the founding fathers turned their heads from the Europe and created
a great nation following these beliefs. As said by Os Guinness, Beyond any question, the way the
American founders consistently linked faith and freedom, republicanism and religion, was not only

The Ethnic Issues of the Bedouins
Bedouins ethnic issues Abstract The focus of ethnicity and ethnic issues in the Middle East has been
associated with the Arabs in the Palestine and the Jews in Israel. Research carried in the previous
researches confirmed that these issues are directly or indirectly affected by the political disputes. In a
sample of the students who were involved in the research, 46.9% ranked the religion to be the major
factor of the formation of the identity. Some students said that the term Israel was not the appropriate
identity and a section about 50% said that Palestine was the right identity. When given six ways of
characterising the identities, that is the Arab, Israeli, Israeli Arab, Palestinian Arab, Israeli Palestinian,
and Palestinian. Palestinian Arab received the more endorsement by around 34%, followed by the
Israeli Arab by 30%, Arab followed by approximately 20%, then Israeli Palestinian by 11.7% and
Palestinian 4% the remaining 2.9% characterised themselves as Israelis. The implications of these data
are discussed in this work. Introduction A lot of discussion and literature has focussed on the Arab
Bedouins of the Negev, with respect to the impact of the state of Israeli and the attempts to settle the
groups considered to be semi nomadic, the above groups have specifically have caught the attention of
the Israeli scientists, however, they have not addressed the issues of ethnic identities of the Bedouin
Israeli citizens. Up to date, the study goes further to focus

Getting Rid Of Willie Keepum
I do not believe either is necessary at this early stage as both parties should be given a chance to
change. However, if I had to absolutely decide, I would choose to get rid of Willie Keepum (even after
considering his name hoping the name was not a hint). First, from a Human Resources and legal
standpoint, it seems irresponsible to fire an entire group of workers. This cleaning house move could
become extremely costly for Manny Flavors CC with regards to lawsuits and future personnel
recruitment and training. Second, I am quite certain the workers are not the underlying problem. As it
is hard to believe that every single one of the workers inherently has a bad attitude and is unwilling to
work. Of course, there are likely some bad apples but all workers unlikely. The more believable
situation is there is something causing all or most of the employees to act this way poor leadership
from the top. Even if Willie started with a fresh new group of workers, their attitudes and motivation
would probably decline to the same extent as the current workforce leaving Manny and the company
in a similar situation.
2. Analyze Willie s management style and compare it to others that might be better. The management
or leadership style that Willie uses is autocratic. The autocratic leader holds all power, authority, and
control, essentially reserving the right to make all decisions. For example, the way Willie

Project Plan And Workflow For Complete The Final Video
Project Methodology:
In this chapter, I present the project plan and workflow I used to complete the final video. In the
last part I discuss other software programs used to accomplish other tasks in the post production
stage.
Production Workflow:
The process to complete the insertion of a CG into a life footage is the same as a media production
workflow. The matchmoving process is part of an animation workflow which is part of the production
workflow. To achieve the final footage there is need to incorporate inherit workflows together.
Video Production Workflow:
To create a film, the process need to follow the basis of the media production workflow.

accommodate
changes during the project. In figure1 below it shows a basic animation production workflow with the
corresponding video production stages and figure2 is a basic matchmove workflow with the different
production stages. The incorporation of CG into a live footage involves a large scale of processes.
Figure 3: A basic Matchmove workflow showing production stages.
In a simple VFX scene, the animator is responsible for the 3D creation, a visual artist is
responsible for the composite and the key role is played by the matchmover who create the CG camera
from the real camera and ensure others have the generated CG scene to work with. The matchmoving
usually happens early in the production workflow.

I was able to derive this workflow for the insertion of the 3D into the live action footage. The
production is divided into 3 stages as a normal video production process.
Pre Production: I decided to have this into 2 stages. The first stage was a plan of the video
sequence plot.

White Tailed Deer And Gray Squirrel Psychology

during all of the seasons. For both of these species they remain active year round, which is helpful

fall. Since they are both hunted during the same season, more management techniques are required to
ensure the population stays at a healthy abundance.

Techniques Used For Air Navigation Essay
The techniques used for air navigation will depend on whether the aircraft is in flight under Visual
Flight Rules (VFR) or Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). In the latter case, the pilot will navigate
exclusively using radio navigation instruments and aids such as beacons, or as directed under radar
control by air traffic control. In the case of VFR, a pilot navigates heavily using dead calculations
combined with visual (pilot) observations, referring to appropriate maps. This can be supplemented
using radio navigation aids.
Given the flight plan and the position of the aircraft, the flight management system calculates the route
to be taken. The driver can take this course manually, or the autopilot can be configured to take the
course.
The flight management system mode is normally called LNAV or lateral navigation for the lateral
flight plan and VNAV or vertical navigation for the vertical flight plan. VNAV provides targets and
speeds of height and altitude, and LNAV provides a balanced control of automatic piloting.

Laurryn Hill Tell Him Analysis
The idea of love in relationships has become more popularized throughout the decades. Though the
term love is ambiguous and can vary from person to person, Sternberg s Triangular Theory of Love
depicts various forms of love based on passion, intimacy, and commitment alone and intersecting to
form an intermediate form of love. To illustrate, in the song Tell Him by Lauryn Hill, a combination of
intimacy and commitment creates companionate love seen between Hill and God.
Companionate love is defined as the affection and tenderness we feel for those with whom our lives
are deeply intertwined (Hatfield and Rapson, 1993). Companionate love can be seen in non couple
relationships as it excludes passion (infatuation) and exemplifies a relationship built on deep affection
and connectedness. Looking at companionate love in its components, intimacy and commitment can
range on the degree of intensity. Intimacy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

has; as she continues on in the song using the same verse multiple times, this establishes an emphasis

need and tell him suggests open and honest relationship that is built on trust. Throughout the song,
references to biblical verses like the verse Now I may have faith to make mountains fall, but if I lack
love, then I am nothin at all shows Hill s belief that through her faith in God, in all things she can be
successful; this again parallels with companionate love. The love for God by Hill displayed in the
song is finished off with the verse to the love that was shown when our lives were spared and tell him

Women s Roles in The Yellow Wallpaper and The Withered Arm
Women s Roles in The Yellow Wallpaper and The Withered Arm
In the late 19th century, women were expected to conform to the conventions of society. This meant
that they were expected to get married young, pure and beautiful. They were treated like objects as if
men bought them. How the woman felt was irrelevant in this period.
Women were expected to produce an heir and a spare . Women were also victim to double standards.
For example, women had to deal with a child out of wedlock yet were given no responsibility for this.
This contrasts strongly to a woman s role in society today. However, women are still expected to get
married and give birth to a child.

Hardy uses a technique called sympathetic background to show us this when he tells of how Rhoda sat
apart from the rest in the milking barn and lived on a lonely spot away from the other milkmaids.
In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman also shows sympathy for the plight of women. Like Hardy, she also
uses the sympathetic background technique when she illustrates the oppression of the speaker by John
and by society. This is illustrated clearly from the very beginning of the story where the speaker says
But what is one to do? This shows how she feels she is being trapped and oppressed by society s
expectations of her.
In The Withered Arm, I feel that Farmer Lodge genuinely believed that he was doing nothing wrong
be ignoring and looking down on Rhoda and her son because he felt society expected him to do that,
however other people may believe that it was unfair that a woman was left in that position. In The
Yellow Wallpaper, I feel that John acted caringly towards the speaker, whereas others may feel that
John was over protective. In both stories, the female characters were expected to conform to societies
expectations of them and if they did not, they were ostracised from society.
For example, in The Withered Arm, we learn that Rhoda has had a child out of wedlock with Farmer
Lodge (sympathetic background). For this
terrible sin, Rhoda is effectively excluded from society; however, no blame is

Development Of Innovative Educational Methodologies
According to Hall (2005, pp188), Insight into the educational, systemic and personal factors, which
contribute to the culture of professions, can help guide the development of innovative educational
methodologies to improve inter professional collaborative practice. IPE is integral in a healthcare
environment, and serves to allow individuals within the healthcare profession to gain an appreciation
for differing roles. Using the Kolb s Learning Cycle (1984), I will chronologically reflect upon my
experiences of IPE, considering concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation
and active experimentation. After having exchanged pleasantries, individuals seemed coy and as
theorised by Tuckman (1965), it was inherent that our team was in the forming stage of development
within a small group. Polite and perfunctory conversation took place, which made it difficult to
progress with the task in hand. Having worked as a member of teams in the past, it was pertinent to
use what little time we had wisely and I felt it necessary to adopt the role of a team leader, akin to that
theorised by the Hersey Blanchard Situational Leadership® model. Here, I styled my leadership in the
manner of selling the task providing information and direction which, accompanied by communication
from individuals in the team, would lead to the sale of the task and potential delegation of
responsibilities and progression with it. However, there were barriers to progress in that; upon

Rhetorical Analysis: We Are the World
A great song lasts for eternity. ~Quincy Jones Music Producer
Music. Long ago, it was nothing but a symphony of Neanderthals banging random objects together
and no one knows exactly where it originated from or who created it. However, what we do know is
that we have so much to thank them for. Of course, music has heavily evolved from cavemen beating
rocks together loudly and out of tune. In fact, music has become a major piece within the vast
foundation of America s culture. Looking back during the time of swing music, classic rock, 70s pop,
smooth jazz, even with today s odd mixes and mashups of songs, there s really not one person that

situation, it was almost just overwhelming to all involved. Now, We Are the World was first released

million copies. Over seventy five million dollars was raised by non profit organization, USA for
Africa, which was all donated to help restore Africa from its poverty ravaged and resource depleted
state, to its former glory. The hit song also won three Grammy Awards in 1986, including song and

Why Is It Important To Have Rules In Lord Of The Flies
In the novel The Lord of the Flies a group of young boys are stranded on an island after their plane
mysteriously crashes.I believe that William Golding was getting the point that a society cannot
function without a basic set of rules and boundaries . Throughout the book their society does
extremely well when they have leadership and simple laws to keep the boys in place. When Jack
decides to start anarchy and disrupts the balance of their system everything goes to hell. In the time
Ralph was in charge one small boy died on the mountain but it was an accident in the time Jack was in
charge two boys were brutally murdered, this just validates my point that a community can not survive
with no laws or rules.
Jack and Ralph first meet and the beach and establish their leadership roles among the boys. The boys
feel as though they need a chief and have a vote, Ralph wins the vote and after seeing Jack s ... Show

In the book the conch seemed to hold the boys together. When they had it they had leadership and they
thrived. The first timed it was introduced it was the center of power for the boys But there was a
stillness about Ralph as he sat that marked him out: there was his size, and attractive appearance; and
most obscurely, yet most powerfully, there was the conch. The being that had blown that, had sat
waiting for them on the platform with the delicate thing balanced on his knees, was set apart (22). I
believe this proves that the conch represents order and government. The glasses on the other hand I
believe that the glasses represent the power of ingenuity and science. Throughout the book the largest
part of innovation and science has been fire. It is everything to the boys they were even will to steal
and lie for it. The glasses are the only real piece of technology on the island. At the point the glasses
were broken it was a symbol for how dumbed down and far away the boys were from

My Experience With A Child
You have competition every day because you set such high standards for yourself that you have to go
out every day and live up to that (Michael Jordan). This quote perfectly describes my mentality as a
child and currently as a young adult. As a child, I was curious and determined as my family recalls.
My mother never lets me forget the number of times she had to free my fingers from the holes of
shopping carts because I was curious if they would fit. As I got older and a bit more independent, I
remember going into my kitchen cabinets and grabbing several different ingredients, namely flour, oil,
and water and creating different mixtures of different textures and consistencies. I was fascinated in
my creations. Along with this curiosity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a successful freshman year, my advisor encouraged me to pursue a summer research internship.
I was offered an internship through the Massachusetts Life Science Center and was placed at Pressure
Biosciences Inc. (PBI) in Medford, Massachusetts. I was overjoyed to work in the Boston area
because of the blossoming biomedical engineering research centers. During my time at PBI, I worked
to improve both the yield and quality of the protein extracted from Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded
(FFPE) tissue, using high pressure systems engineered by PBI. Over the course of my two month
internship, I optimized the deparaffinization method of the FFPE tissues along with the amount and
type of pressure (steady or oscillating) that was applied to the samples. I improved basic lab
techniques, and acquired new skills such as various sonication and homogenization methods and
running RC DC (reducing agent and detergent compatible) protein assays. I also gained experience
working independently on research projects. This internship introduced me to the life of an
independent research scientist and motivated me to pursue a career in research. The most impactful
aspect of this internship, however, was the fact that it forced me to abandon my life science based
comfort zone, and start to think and research as an engineer. I became familiar with the high pressure

Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt
Abstract
The influence of gamma irradiation on the electrical and dielectric properties of AgNO3/ PVA films
was investigated. The films were prepared by in situ chemical reduction techniques, then irradiated
with different gamma doses (25, 50, 75, 100, 125 KGy). The content of the Ag in the PVA film were
determined by using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AA), and were found to be 0.4 wt %. The films
have been characterized through dielectric spectroscopy and I V measurements. As a result, the
dielectric constant (ε) value decreases as the gamma irradiation doses increase. The conductivity of the
films and dielectric loss (tan δ) of increases with increasing the gamma irradiation doses. The
conductivity was found (σ = 4.9 x10−8 S m−1) for 125 KGy. Frank poole emission is the prevailing
transport mechanism for all samples.

Characteristics Of Princess Diana
Abstract
Princess Diana was known as the people s princess; but Diana was much more than that. Diana was an
activist, humanitarian, public servant and a leader. Princess Diana s entire adult life was focused on
helping those less fortunate, those suffering from debilitating diseases and offering aide to people
from third world countries. Diana didn t just contribute time but focused on attracting the attention of
the media which brought spectators and in return brought followers. These followers were willing to
contribute time and resources to hundreds of causes Princess Diana found important. Diana had great
charisma that she spread to all the people she met. In the developing countries she was able to
empower others by improving their self esteem (Gram 2013). Princess Diana led a life of giving and
through many years of personal grief and loss followed by a tragic death the world has suffered a great
loss as well. Fortunately, Diana was such an impactful leader that to this day there are memorial funds
set up in Princess Diana s name to assist with many of the charities that the Princess adored. Because
of the hours and back breaking work the Princess put in to these charities, they still reap benefits from
the followers of the people s leader, Princess Diana.
Princess Diana; a Leader A leader can possess many unique qualities. Merriam Webster defines a
leader as someone who guides others. A quick google search provides a definition of a person who
commands a group. Princess Diana was known to compassionately guide people to service. Without
instructing, verbalizing or motioning Diana was able to influence the way the world felt about many
different causes. Princess Diana was able to change the world s views and perceptions about
contagious diseases, third world countries and many different world crises. Diana was passionate
about all of the charities and work performed and was never fearful to be the first to volunteer. Diana
did not discriminate in any charity, she worked for the homeless, youth, drug addicts, and the elderly

The Role Of Spna As A Cell Wall
Figure 1: Kaplan Meier survival curves of wax worms infected with labelled dose (CFUs) of GAS
SpnA variants over 3 days **** P 0.05 (One way ANOVA) A methyl green assay allows quantification
of DNAse activity by measuring the change in absorbance as the methyl green DNA complex is
degraded (Sinicropi et al. 1994). The SpnA knockout had significantly lower DNAse function than
wildtype GAS whilst the non functional complements showed similar activity to the knockouts and
the functional complements showed an intermediate function in between that of the knockout and that
of the wildtype (Fig. 5) All strains showed higher activity than buffer alone (Fig. 5). Discussion
Previous experiments have characterised the role of SpnA as a cell wall anchored DNAse important
for immune evasion through the destruction of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) (Buchanan et al.
2006). While small scale in vivo experiments in mice have been conducted (Hasegawa et al. 2010), a
Galleria mellonella infection model allows for a larger scale screening of mutants to further refine the
role of SpnA in GAS virulence. This is due to the lower cost, easy maintenance, small size and
suitability of the wax worm (Ramarao et al. 2012). In the above experiments, the role of SpnA in GAS
virulence was clearly demonstrated by the significant difference in killing and the health index of the
caterpillars between wild type and ΔSpnA. They also revealed that complementation with cell wall
bound SpnA on a plasmid

Early African Art
Throughout history, artists have depicted the intimate and domestic scenes of maternal love in various
styles that reflected upon the historical, political, religious and artistic progression of the time period.
A striking example of Early African art is a Terracotta statue ca. 1000 1500 depicting a Mother with
children(?), from the Inland Niger Delta, Mali. The piece was discovered among many other modeled
terracotta sculptures in the walled town of Jenne Jeno. Archeological evidence from this region
suggests the presence of several diverse ethnic groups due to the several pieces found, all
differentiating in style. The mother within this statue is depicted in a seated position with 3 smaller

The painting, a wedding gift from Raphael to his friend Lorenzo Nasi, features the Madonna, the
Christ Child, and the infant Saint John in a serene landscape. The book in Mary s hand reads Sedes
Sapientiae or The Throne of Wisdom. This term usually is applied to images in which Mary is seated
upon a throne with The Christ child on her lap, but in this case, the inscription implies the rock on
which Mary sits is her natural throne. Mary is seen keeping her page in her book as she is interrupted
by the children who stand in her protective embrace. Raphael accepts the approach of the pyramidal
composition, the gentle effects of the soft light and the emotional dialog between the characters. Such
an interlock of gestures and glances within the painting conveys a profound intimacy between the
figures within the scene. The Christ Child is lovingly stroking a goldfinch that John holds out to him.

Kill The Five-Paragraph Essay By Kerri Smith
Teaching the process of a five paragraph essay seems to be a popular strategy when it comes to
teaching new writers; however, not everyone agrees that five paragraph essays are the best way to go
about introducing the writing process. John Warner, author of Kill the 5 Paragraph Essay believes the
process gives writers little freedom and is a tool for the worst of teachers to hide amongst the good.
On the other hand, Kerri Smith, author of In the Defense of the Five Paragraph Essay claims students
who know the five paragraph essay intimately are more prepared to take on the challenge of college
level writing. Both first year composition professors make great arguments; however, Warner s article

Warren s reasoning also backs his claims quite well. Evidence, appeals, assumptions, and reasonings
make an argumentative essay, without them the writing has little strength and credibility. Smith fails to
adequately present her argument. She uses little evidence as to why she defends the five paragraph
essay, drags out her personal experiences for two out of the five paragraphs in her writing, and has
little credible reasoning. At one point in her article, she states many professors do not care about the
organization and would be happy if they could write well. Organization, planning, and content are all
important to creating quality and strong essays. Stating professors do not care about organization of an
essay, Smith claims professors do not want appropriate college level

What Are The Similarities Between Nibelungenlied And Parzival
Nibelungenlied and Parzival
Although both the Nibelungenlied and Parzival were composed around the same time (c. 1200), they
are vastly different in certain respects namely concerning the matters of diplomacy, redemption,
revenge, and deceit. Some striking similarities do exist among the two texts concepts of honor (êre),
loyalty (triuwe), moderation (mâze) and knightly deeds (âventiure) are valued highly by both
societies. However, each notion is accomplished through different measures in each work. In fact,
societal values are taken more to the extreme in Nibelungenlied, and deceit is often used to obtain
them.
For example, honor manifests itself similarly in each work, but is acted on to a different extent. In
both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this reason, Parzival is a much more Christian composition.
More specifically, consider first the incidents surrounding Siegfried s death, which stem from a loss of
honor, but point out other important societal values in the Nibelungenlied. Gunther falsely claims,
with Siegfried s approval, that Siegfried is his vassal in order to impress Brunhilde. Siegfried then
helps Gunther with the cloak of invisibility to complete tasks of strength, which eventually win
Brunhilde. These are deceptions number one and two, and are especially heinous since they occur
during a wooing expedition. The third deception of Brunhilde comes about when Siegfried subdues
her so that she will sleep with Gunther in the future. The concept of loyalty to one s spouse and to
womankind in the world of Parzival forbids any dishonesty in courting endeavors, or any deceit to one
s wife. Moreover, nobody openly lies about rank, or social status, because it is far too important of a
concept. Gawan is perhaps the only character in Parzival who is not entirely honest about his heritage,
when he overcomes the Castle of Wonders and frees his relatives. However, his intentions are good he
simply wants to reunite King Arthur to his relatives in a sort of surprise manner, and for that reason
any wrong he causes through his silence is almost immediately ameliorated.
Finally, the laws governing âventiure do not allow anyone who uses tricks to win a

The Liberties Of The United States
Within the Constitution of the United States of America, the word privacy appears exactly zero times.
Not once does the legal document that outlines the social order of the United Sates, define, or
explicitly state a right to privacy for its citizens. Even with this fact prevailing over society, American
citizens still esteem privacy in the highest regard. According to a survey conducted by the PEW
Research Center, a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends

I hypothesize that modern day Americans greatly value privacy because throughout American history
and culture, citizens have been encouraged to own personal possessions such as property, people, and
tangible materials while also maintaining a sense of power in relation to others within society. For
example in the late 1800s, American corporations as well as economically invested individuals bought
and took ownership of tribal land in Hawaii . Land was taken by Americans and claimed as private
property in a culture in which the concepts of privacy and property possession were foreign. After
some time, Americans possessed ownership of a majority of Hawaiian land and this allowed them the
power to manipulate the land in whatever manner they deemed suitable. Privacy, the state or condition
of being free from being observed or disturbed by other people, quickly became a concept relevant to
land ownership in Hawaii . A historical account such as this, is only one instance of the American
values of ownership and power intersecting to facilitate a desire for privacy. It is clear that Americans
for centuries have valued their privacy as evidenced by the relationship between Hawaii and America,
but nonetheless it is unclear as to what extent Americans can exercise their privacy. To further
understand why the right for privacy needs to be explicitly addressed in American law, recent

Ghana And Its Demographic Profile Over Time
Ghana is a country found along the Gulf of Guinea in the sub region of West Africa in the African

Ghana was the first African country to gain independence from colonization by the United Kingdom
on the 6th March 1957 under the leadership of Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah who was the first Prime
Minister as well as the First President of Ghana. In terms of population policies and programmes
which is the subject matter of this paper Ghana was the third country in Sub Saharan Africa after

it was endowed with a relatively advanced network of infrastructure and social service institutions in

America History Teach Us About The Dangers Of Racism
What does this episode in US history teach us about the dangers of racism?
I think this period in history aptly depicts racism as a very sad, narrow minded, damaging, and ugly
mentality. Anyone who has ever been a target of anything gossip, slander, teasing or felt isolated,
ostracized, friendless, misunderstood or misjudged should have a heart for and the ability to empathize
with other people. Sadly, while this episode in history (and many others) clearly demonstrates the
dangers and horrors of racism, there are still many who choose to embrace the warped mentality from
which it springs. History has shown us this repeatedly. Personally, I cannot comprehend such a
perspective, as it has no basis in any kind of rational, reasonable, logical principle or ideal. But then, I
was always the scrawny kid that stood up for the underdog and fought off bullies, even if they were
twice my size and I ended up being the one that took a beating. To me, racism represents a corrupted
mentality; a level of arrogance, entitlement, and repackaged, relabeled bullying that is heartbreaking
and deplorable. And it is not just Caucasians who have throughout history fallen prey to the ugly
tentacles of racism. Beneath the surface, almost every nation, even otherwise very hospitable Asian
nations, have some racist views of another nation or nations which they perceive as worse than them.
Hopefully, humanity will eventually learn from history, and we can once and for all end the vicious
cycle of

Themes in Frankenstein Essay
Frankenstein deals with two main social concerns, the level of moral responsibility that a creator
possesses in relation to his creation, as well as the issue of the moral boundaries that exists in one s
quest for knowledge, including the fine line between good and bad knowledge, The novel also deals
with two main human concerns, which include a person s goals or aspirations as well as the issue of
pride and its affect on a person.
Mary Shelley highlights the issue of moral responsibility by the fact that Frankenstein neglects the
issue at first, but then realises its importance. Frankenstein completely ignores his moral responsibility
in relation to his work initially, blinded by his emotions, but once he realised that he had ... Show

Bad knowledge in contrast, is knowledge that is single minded, driven by personal gain, and possesses
very little constraints.
Pride is probably the most important human issue that Mary Shelley explores, with Frankenstein s
search for knowledge being more a quest for glory than one that was going to genuinely benefit
society. A new species would bless me as it creator and source NO father could claim the gratitude of
his child so completely as I should deserve theirs. Frankenstein s pride is blatantly displayed, as he
disregards, his family, friends and his environment to spend day and night creating the creature, only
to become conscious of the fact that it s a monster. His pride is further shown by the fact that he let s
an innocent woman die just to preserve his reputation by not speaking out. The way pride is portrayed
in the novel indicates that society back then was heavily based on ones reputation and prestige.
Goals or aspirations is closely tied in with the other issues discussed earlier, in that both Frankenstein
and Walton seek glory, but both realise, Frankenstein the hard way that glory comes at a price, and
risks need to be taken in order to achieve one s goal, but its up to that person to decide where the risk
is too great. This issue does reflect the values of Shelley s society, in that the three main

In 1775, America attacked its Mother Country in war. But Why? The Prime Minister of England,
George Grenville, issued many laws that taxed the colonist for almost everything they bought or sold.
The pastors and speakers of this era saw that they were being treated unfairly by their Mother Country
and took a stand against it. These men of God spoke out against mistreatment and the unjust laws that
had been placed on them. But how significant was the impact made by pastors and speakers on the
people that heard their messages? If we look at history, we see ragtag groups of patriots fighting the
British Army in what seems like an unfair fight. What inspired these men to stand and fight? I believe
it was the influence of pastors and speakers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Causes Of Drunk Driving And Driving
Have you ever lost someone close to you because of a bad decision, or a bad decision someone else
made? Drunk driving and driving under the influence of drugs is the leading cause of death in the
United States. Everyday 28 people die in the U.S. because of a drunk or drug impaired driver.
Everybody makes bad choices, even you and me, but there is a difference between a bad choice and a
bad choice that can put others at risk of injury and death. For many people stress is the reason that
drives them to drink or do drugs. The alcohol or drug numbs them to the stress of school, work,
family, money and relationships. Yes, the drugs and alcohol may numb you from the pain but in
reality, it makes everything worse. You can become addicted, you mood changes and in the end, you
may end up hurting others around you. As well, other reasons that cause people to make these bad
decisions include, peer pressure which is a big issue for teens who feel the need to fit in or want to be
viewed as cool, family issues, curiosity, and simply because it is accessible.
Driving under the influence or DUI is the crime for driving while under the influence of drugs or
alcohol. To be charged with a DUI, you must have a blood alcohol concentration or BAC of 0.08% or
more for drivers 21 years of age or older. If you are under the age of 21, a BAC of 0.02% can be cited
for a DUI. States such as Arizona or North Carolina have a zero tolerance policy for underage drivers.

and cause a continued division within the Republican party. However, if Hillary is elected, there
would be some but no major change within the parties and the divisions that have been forming
leading up the election may dissipate. Both prior and after the 2016 election, there have been and will
continue to be considerable changes in US coalitions. In conclusion, coalitions are necessary to
consider because of the significant effect that have on American politics. It is one of the most effective
ways for a party to expand their influence, power and the decisions in government they advocate.
They shape the US political arena and shift with incoming

The Rise Of Consumerism During World War II
In today s times, Americans are never too far from a drive through fast food restaurant or a shopping
mall. Products such as televisions, microwaves, and cars are necessities in homes in 2014. America
was not always the consumerist nation it is now. With thousands of American servicemen returning
home after World War II, the United States was filled with an energy that had long been repressed by
an economic depression in the 1930 s. By the 1950 s, Americans were ready to move on from the war
and start families. Thousands of jobs were created to accommodate all those retuning home, which
caused the United States economy to flourish. Since more people were working and receiving higher
wages, they were eager to start spending. Because of this, consumerism skyrocketed in the 1950 s.
Along with positive post war attitudes, suburbanization and the development of new products can also
be attributed to the rise of consumerism during this period.
As many American men fought in World War II, the United States economy had slowly started to pick
itself up after a devastating crash in 1929 that lasted over a decade. Most men were drafted into the
war, which left many jobs open back in the States. To fill these jobs women and African Americans
were recruited to fill them, thus making unemployment nearly nonexistent during this period. After
World War II had ended, Americans came home with a determination to keep the recovery going. A
key way to achieve this was to spend money.

Moon Affect Human Behavior
There is very little information about the floor of the sea and the depths of space, but we as humans
have come a long way from where we started. For hundreds of years folk stories and horror movies
have used the superstition of the moon in order to create a real world appeal. Whether the moon is
being held captive by a hostile Native American tribe or werewolves are roaming the town there s no
doubt that humans feel the power of the moon. Americans have sent men to the moon and found giant
squid in deep sea, but we still have very limited knowledge when it comes to the power of the moon or
what s at the bottom of the sea. Though studies show that the moon controls a lot more than the
average person might think, there is no real conclusion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a possibility that the gravitational pull of the moon affects humans as it affects the currents in
major bodies of water. There is not much information on the topic, but many studies have been done
to try to prove or disprove that theory. The results are controversial and spread out. So does the moon
affect human behavior? By studying scientific experiments and analyzing data I hope to come to a
conclusion. The Full moon may or may not directly or indirectly affect the activity of humans. Jodi
tasso and Elizabeth miller, the authors of The effects of the moon on human behavior* describe a
study where It was found that the eight categories of rape, robbery and assault, burglary, larceny and
theft, auto theft, offenses against family and children, drunkenness, and disorder conduct occurred
significantly more frequently during the full moon phase than at other times of the year. The quote
shows some potential volatility to the idea that humans could be affected by the moon. The Women
state that there was a significant increase in the number of criminal offenses during the full moon
phase. The moon cycle take 29.5 day to go from full to full again, during those 29.5 days there are
seven days when the moon gets brighter and brighter until it is full, this is known as the moon phase It
could be nothing more than coincidence but data has show similar results time and time

Summary Of A Lady s Dressing Room
A Lady s Dressing Room
A Lady s Dressing Room by Jonathan Swift is an interesting work of literature, especially for the time
period it was written in. A poem like such is about the other side of women men typically do not see
(hints the title). By revealing the somewhat more embarrassing side of women, it shows the
surrounding society that they not only take forever to get ready, but instead reveal the not so pretty
side of the stereotypical women. Society during this time silences women and does not allow them to
be true to themselves. Women are also held to a higher more proper standard than the men when it
comes to society formalities. Swift integrates different literary ideas throughout this piece, he includes
ideas such as: Feminine rhyme, prosody, imagery, a pastoral message in addition to ekphrasis.
First off feminine rhyme as well as prosody is used throughout the whole piece. For an example in
lines three and four there is a clear connection between the two rhyming words, it states: The goddess
from her chamber issues, /Arrayed in lace, brocades and tissues (Swift,3 4). Clearly in this line Swift
is describing that some lady issues need to be handled with tissues . This line is a great example of
feminine rhyme as well as prosody, because women are often thought of as more sensitive than men
and this continual rhyming pattern remains present throughout the whole poem. By taking on a female
perspective from the beginning Swift is not only challenging the power dynamics is society, he is also
giving voice to the females and showing the more sensitive side. Think about it this way, if a male
would have written this piece it more than likely would not been emotional and sensitive because men
are typically more insensitive than women.
Secondly another great literary device Swift uses would be imagery. Imagery is throughout the
remainder of the poem as it is describing the daily routine of a women, but the one part that is bolder
than the others would have to be when he states: And first a dirty smock appeared/Beneath the armpits
well besmeared (Swift, 11 12). This is a great example of imagery being used. By painting a picture in
the reader s mind, the author is giving it a more real time

Feminism Is An Effective Ideology Within Politics
Over the last few decades and even today in 2017, feminism has been a widely debated topic. The
misunderstanding in regards to what feminism is and the reason behind it play a large role in this
issue. Before the feminist movement, women were pretty much considered second class citizens.
Feminism is more than just angry, male hating women protesting. Feminism is about change, equality
and opportunity for women of all races and age. There are many reasons as to why feminism has been
an effective ideology within politics. Because of feminism and the women s work movement, more
women than ever before have been given the opportunity to make a difference in government.

2) Feminism brought this issue to light. As a result, more and more countries are using various
methods to slowly increase the percentage of women. One of the more popular methods is to use a
quota. A quota is a mandatory or voluntary number or percentage of women needed to be placed or
hired. (www.lop.parl.gc.ca) Since the adoption of constitutional quotas, the country of Rwanda has
been first in female representation since 2003. Women make up about 48.8% to 63.8% of the
representation in their governments lower house. (www.lop.parl.gc.ca) Because of the large amount of
representation in office, women have more of their issues brought forward and dealt with. For
example, in Latin America, the use of quotas has led to improvements on divorce, domestic violence
legislation, and child care. (Smith, 2005)
The involvement with national and international non governmental organizations (NGOs) along with
other women s groups have been quite beneficial. With these groups and organizations, women not
only have international and transnational relationships with others, but they can also use these groups
to promote women s rights, organize resistances, and to handle issues in regards to a global women s
agenda. (Hawkesworth, 2012 pg. 249) For example, sexual trafficking, gender justice, and women s
economic welfare. These organizations can bring awareness to a specific cause, as a result change can
be made. An example of this would be the adoption of the

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
Journal #1: Bibliographic entry
Krakauer, Jon. Into the Wild. New York: Anchor, 1997. Print.
Journal #2: Visual Symbol
A visual symbol that would be considered appropriate and important to the work would be the Magic
Bus. This Magic Bus provided Christopher McCandless with a place of shelter in the American West.
He came across this abandoned bus during his travels and gave it this name because of a song from
The Who which was a British Rock band that Mccandless favored. The author included this visual
symbol in the book most likely for the purpose of demonstrating McCandless belief in luck and hope.
McCandless believed that since he randomly came across a bus in the wild, it was considered a form
of luck because it wasn t likely for someone to come across that during an expedition in the wild. He
also later on eats the wrong berry that unfortunately poisons him, leading to his death that took place
on the old mattress in the Magic Bus; which he viewed as a loss or ending of his luck that he has been
granted with.
Magic Bus Day , he wrote in his journal. He decided to lay over for a while in the vehicle and take
advantage of its crude comforts. page 163

A Comparison Of Porphyria s Lover And Andrew Marvell
Nayla Windham
Mrs. Leah Armstrong
English 102, Section 3
1 April 2015
Dangerously in Love In Anthony Hamilton s song Love is so Complicated, he sings, Love is
complicated, the way I feel about you make me wanna change my attitude. Obsessive love can lead to
many dangerous consequences in a relationship. Browning and Marvell both examine dark love in
their poems. Both poets want their mistress to commit to them so they can have control over them.
Both Robert Browning in Porphyria s Lover and Andrew Marvell in To His Coy Mistress explore the
theme of obsessive love through their use of imagery, metaphors and personification. Robert
Browning was born in 1812 in London, England. He lived with his parents until he was thirty four
years old and secretly married his wife Elizabeth Barrett. Porphyria s Lover is one of Browning s early
dramatic monologues (Maxwell 27). It was first published as Porphyria in January 1836 (Maxwell
27). In Porphyria s Lover , the narrator murders the woman he loves in order to have her forever.

Tax Reform Essay
An outrage over taxes founded this country. And for its first 123 years, the US of A managed
handsomely with zero income tax.
Abraham Lincoln interrupted that in 1862 to finance the Union Army. But its success was short lived
when an 1872 Supreme Court decision repealed federal income tax as unconstitutional.
We made it all the way to 1913 before it miraculously clawed its way out of the grave (see movie The
Revenant ) where federal income taxes became law. Congress ratified the constitution to pull it off.
From then on nothing changed until Ronald Reagan s monumental 1986 Tax Reform Act.
But as cleverly crafted as the 86 makeover was, it opened up a monstrous black hole, sucking
hundreds of thousands of jobs into its void too ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gifting the middle class makes paychecks bigger. Groovy. But an empty victory since middle classers,
well, except for employing housekeepers, they don t hire. Corporations do.
Middle classers don t give themselves raises, either. Corporations do.
Middle classers don t provide themselves healthcare bennies. Corporations do.
Middle classers don t give themselves time off for family emergencies, extended vacays,
telecommuting permissions and all manner of special situations that intercept and arrest the normal.
Corporations do.
INSTEAD: say corporate is gifted to level the playing field with other countries we lost jobs to so
companies will come back to the U.S. bringing jobs with them. Wouldn t that be nice? Yes, unless you
factor in a massive outcry against helping the rich get richer. What middle classers never get is, you
shoot at the rich, you hit the poor. It s not how big one s paycheck is, as it is that. . .
Anything we can make of this for real estate?
Maybe this: the mother s milk to a thriving market is a reasonable policy protecting middle class
homeowners, who already pay 83% of all federal income taxes, from a loss in home value. Pray that is
where the focus is, because some talk on reforms could result in a 10+% loss in home values, similar
to the beating commercial values took in the 86 Tax Reform Act.
It s all good to lighten the load on businesses so they start hiring again. But at

  • 2. Non Human Primate Reproductive Strategies A key element in the life of any individual is to be able to reproduce. Nonhuman primates number only 250 species but display great diversity in grouping patterns. We call some of these types of groupings a one male polygyny or monogamy. However, the main focus today is that these primates have evolved different strategies, behavioral and ecological, to cop with the need to balance limited food supplies while avoiding predators with intensions of mating and or harming their offspring. It has been assumed that in order for male primates to reach mating success, they must have to take on the task of always being present to the female and her offspring s. I believe that I will argue that monogamy and one male polygyny are different yet both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Dunbar, 1983) Among mountain gorillas, half of all the groups are one male. However, females leave from one group to another. Polygynous females might be compensated for loss of exclusive paternal care by mating with a genetically superior male, thereby increasing the likelihood of their progeny s survival and ability to produce offspring (Alatalo and Lundberg 1986). (Hoglund, J. 1995) The competition for these mating opportunities is driven by the female s choice. When this occurs, the males lose females to another one male group and it exploits what males mating opportunities. When one male group doesn t have the luxury of having females, they form or join a group of males similar to a bachelor s group. In some of these species, the group of males attacks the one male group in order to take his throne and seize the females (Hoglund, J. 1995). Sometimes, the females may get tired of sharing the male with the other females in the group. Hoglund recorded (1995, pg. 76) so they seek out males from all male groups to mate with during breeding season. Such influxes occur seasonally between blue monkeys (Rowell, 1988), Hanuman Langurs (Boories et al., 1999), ring tailed lemurs (Sussman, 1992), and sifakas (Richard 1992). A nonhuman ... • 3. Cinematography Analysis Of Polanski s Chinatown Cinematography Analysis in Chinatown Chinatown is based on Roman Polanski s lifeworks. Polanski s goal is to emphasizes the meaning of how cinematography is made, and how it inspires by understanding the concept of setting, lighting, and how the image is captured. This film was released in 1974 by director of Roman Polanski to focus on private investigator J.J. Gittes, played by Jack Nicholson to investigate the elements behind the truth. Polanski s goal is to emphasize the audience to give an ominous feeling of the main character, J.J. Gittes and his point of view by showing in color instead of black and white pictures. Due to these reasons, Polanski wanted to use Panavision to give a flawed vision about the past, which the story is set in the years of 1937. Polanski states, a traditional detective story with a new, modern shape for Paramount picture. (1) This paper focuses on the film Chinatown which is neo noir, not only because of the setting, but the concept of cinematography that connects duplicates occurrences together that describe three categories: background of the cinematographer, point of view of the main character, and the interpretation of the ending scenes. First of all, Roman Polanski hired John A. Alonzo as the Director of Photography for Chinatown. Therefore, Alonzo was well known for his notable works, as Director of Photography position after Chinatown s successful film is Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Scarface, and Star Trek: Generations. • 4. Twelfth Night Feste The Fool According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, the word fool can be defined in many ways. A fool can be a stupid or silly person , or one who is made to appear foolish , a dupe, a jester, or one who lacks good sense or judgement . The average child would see clowns or their fathers as silly fools. The more mature mind would describe fools as drunkards or annoying coworkers. While the many definitions above are valid, they are not as accurate in describing Feste the Fool in Shakespeare s Twelfth Night. In actuality, Feste is no fool at all. His wit, smarts, and observational skills make him the most intelligent and engaging character in the play. Feste is renowned for his wit and impressive use of puns. He is a genius with words, and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His choice to stay uninvolved in the many conflicts allows him to remain the impartial observer of the play. However, despite his objectiveness, he still enjoys participating in the fun and mischievous activities in Illyria, placing him both inside and outside the play. Better put, he takes part in the play s craziness, but he is also able to step outside Illyria and look in. As a result, he is capable of illuminating the foolishness of human nature through his ability to point out the folly in others. This is made possible in virtue of his gift for analyzing and judging situations and the other characters. In Act 2 scene 4, Fool rightly observes Duke Orsino s love for Olivia as fickle and not genuine when likening his mind to an opal, implying that he changes his mind as much as an opal changes color (which is very often). He observes how foolish Olivia s excessive mourning is when grieving over her dead brother (Act 1 Scene 5 Lines 64 69), and on several accounts points out the absurdity of Sir Toby s over indulgent lifestyle in witty banter. Fortunately for Feste, because he is an allowed Fool (Act 1 Scene 5 Line 93), he is licensed to voice his observations without trouble, earning him many laughs for speaking his mind. Fool s honest observations make him the comedic truth of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay On AIDS On larger scales as well, societies have been depriving LGBT people of their histories and rights in order to preserve the current social and cultural climates. As rigid social classes have started to become more blurred, AIDs literature has become more mainstream and the history of the AIDs crisis in terms of gay people has become less shadowed. The first truly definable category of AIDs writing is in the face of the initial media blackout, wherein only those who were affected by the disease wrote about it, or consumed media related to it. This was when being gay was even more dangerous/considered irreparably immoral, and the tone of the writing has shifted in the modern day to more generalized, hopeful themes. While the issue being discussed is whether trans* people are allowed to use the restroom that best corresponds with their gender, the real question being discussed is whether or not trans* people are allowed to exist in public spaces; if they can t safely use the restroom in a public space, then they can t exist in that space for very long without either leaving or putting themself in danger. They either remove themself or someone removes them. It s a more direct method compared to restriction of information, but the intent and the outcome are the same; erasure of LGBT people from the public consciousness. Similarly, and more specifically, The 1969 Stonewall Riots and subsequent American revolutions were misrepresented and redirected in order to preserve the social climate as much as possible. Sylvia Rivera, despite being a huge part of the Stonewall Riots and helping, according to many historians, to kickstart the US LGBT rights movement, is hardly ever mentioned outside of in depth LGBT conversations. Rivera was a huge part of LGBT history, and even then not many young or newly realized members of the community know about her because she was a trans*woman of color, the most threatened and erased LGBT denomination. • 6. The Fear Of Public Speaking I ve always felt that public speaking is something that has come pretty natural to me. It was throughout high school and again in college that I realize not everyone felt the same way. I found that many people often dread public speaking. In college, it was really exemplified this first semester when I heard that many people had to take a course called Communications 103, which primarily focuses on writing and giving speeches. It didn t take this course this semester, so all I knew about it was what I had heard through my peers. Some had a similar outlook on public speaking and said they didn t mind having to give speeches, but others nearly had panic attacks leading up to them. It was this mixed opinion on speeches that made me question why this happens, if there is a way to alleviate the fear, and if a fear of public speaking is an actually thing. In Ellysa Gonzalez s journal article Professional Speaker to Give Lecture at Tech about Public Speaking , she explains how public speaking anxiety or the fear of public speaking, is a real thing. In trying to explain how exactly this fear exists, Gonzalez explains it is partly because of the human need to feel accepted . In the journal Gonzalez explains that this fear s technical name is glossophobia . It is also among the top five most common fears (Gonzalez). After identifying that this is an actual fear driven by the possibility of one not being accepted by those around them. Gonzalez s article goes on to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. What Was The Impact Of Nationalism In Germany Between 1815... Nationalism was a result of a myriad of contributing factors which had a plethora of significant impacts on Germany during the years 1815 and 1871. Nationalism is an ideology based on the sense of loyalty and devotion one has to their nation and the beliefs that those who share a common language, history, and culture should constitute an independent nation free of foreign domination. The first, and perhaps most significant, effect that nationalism had upon Germany was that it led to German unification in 1871. Another impact that nationalism had in Germany was that it allowed Germans to develop a sense of national identity. Nationalism also played a huge role in enabling Germany to become a dominant power within Europe. Therefore, nationalism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many attempts to unify the separate German speaking countries were made prior to its official unification, however, they were all ultimately unsuccessful. This was due to the fact that although the people were Germanic, they had little sense of a national identity. Nationalism was a driving force behind the development of a national consciousness as it assisted people in realising that they were all German and, as a result, were all similar in many ways. These commonalities encouraged the emergence of a distinct German identity. The biggest cultural factor was undoubtedly the German language. Although there were different dialects used among the states, these variations emerged from the same source, hence, the German people had shared a common language. All the states also shared customs and a common culture, which stemmed from similar tastes in literature and music. There was an increase in German literature, from the works of Goethe and Schiller, that recognised common German characteristics and an interest in folklore also emerged at the time, as a result of the works of The Brothers Grimm, who presented these tales as German in origin and changed details that suggested different origins. What became the German national anthem was a poem that read Deutschland über alles / Über alles in der Welt , which translates to Germany above all else / Above all else in the world . The task of creating the German nation state was one that required and generated a significant amount of hope in the citizens of Germany, who were able to transcend territories, borders and different cultural ... • 10. Skipping Meals On A Daily Basis To begin with, since I came to Saint Leo University I have been skipping meals on a daily basis. It s not because I want to but it s because my schedule is busy on a daily basis. However, when I do get the chance to eat lunch I take advantage of it. Then when I m really busy I usually grab a yogurt to eat on the go or even a sandwich I can snack on. But, with me skipping meals on a daily basis is very unhealthy and I m making progress by making improvements with my eating habits. Firstly, I began by creating a smart goal and used it motivation to help decrease the amount of time I skip meals. I started eating breakfast in the dining hall or either in my dorm. I usually eat breakfast at 7:30 am or it varies depending on my schedule. For breakfast, I usually eat cereal, oats, or French toast and sometimes an English muffin. I stay away from the bacon because pork bacon is too oily and I like turkey bacon more. Sometimes, I would eat the original and strawberry low fat yogurt mixed with granola crumbs. Other than breakfast, sometimes I would eat lunch when my schedule is less hectic. Normally, Monday s and Friday s is the two days that I defiantly eat lunch. This is because on Monday s I don t have work in the afternoon, so I m free from 12:20pm and on Friday s I leave campus to go home. When I do eat lunch, I usually have small portions of rice, or macaroni with chicken breast or chicken wings. The chicken is normally baked or stewed. Also, sometimes I would have a salad ... • 11. Corruption Of Prisoners In Plato s Arguments Of Democracy In a dark cave there are prisoners, restricted to seeing what shadows puppeteers cast upon the stone screen in front of them. This timeless story by Plato, used as a metaphor for those that are, to the philosopher Plato, lowbrows, and have no desire to question what is around them and find the truth and embrace ignorance. I have experienced this first hand, being an exemplification of what it means to not question what I have faith in, or seek more. However, I have also experienced what it is to be the prisoner that turns his head, as well as the prisoner that turns the other cheek. • 12. The Ethnic Issues of the Bedouins Bedouins ethnic issues Abstract The focus of ethnicity and ethnic issues in the Middle East has been associated with the Arabs in the Palestine and the Jews in Israel. Research carried in the previous researches confirmed that these issues are directly or indirectly affected by the political disputes. In a sample of the students who were involved in the research, 46.9% ranked the religion to be the major factor of the formation of the identity. Some students said that the term Israel was not the appropriate identity and a section about 50% said that Palestine was the right identity. When given six ways of characterising the identities, that is the Arab, Israeli, Israeli Arab, Palestinian Arab, Israeli Palestinian, and Palestinian. Palestinian Arab received the more endorsement by around 34%, followed by the Israeli Arab by 30%, Arab followed by approximately 20%, then Israeli Palestinian by 11.7% and Palestinian 4% the remaining 2.9% characterised themselves as Israelis. The implications of these data are discussed in this work. Introduction A lot of discussion and literature has focussed on the Arab Bedouins of the Negev, with respect to the impact of the state of Israeli and the attempts to settle the groups considered to be semi nomadic, the above groups have specifically have caught the attention of the Israeli scientists, however, they have not addressed the issues of ethnic identities of the Bedouin Israeli citizens. • 13. Getting Rid Of Willie Keepum I do not believe either is necessary at this early stage as both parties should be given a chance to change. However, if I had to absolutely decide, I would choose to get rid of Willie Keepum (even after considering his name hoping the name was not a hint). First, from a Human Resources and legal standpoint, it seems irresponsible to fire an entire group of workers. This cleaning house move could become extremely costly for Manny Flavors CC with regards to lawsuits and future personnel recruitment and training. Second, I am quite certain the workers are not the underlying problem. As it is hard to believe that every single one of the workers inherently has a bad attitude and is unwilling to work. Of course, there are likely some bad apples but all workers unlikely. The more believable situation is there is something causing all or most of the employees to act this way poor leadership from the top. Even if Willie started with a fresh new group of workers, their attitudes and motivation would probably decline to the same extent as the current workforce leaving Manny and the company in a similar situation. 2. Analyze Willie s management style and compare it to others that might be better. The management or leadership style that Willie uses is autocratic. The autocratic leader holds all power, authority, and control, essentially reserving the right to make all decisions. • 17. Techniques Used For Air Navigation Essay The techniques used for air navigation will depend on whether the aircraft is in flight under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) or Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). In the latter case, the pilot will navigate exclusively using radio navigation instruments and aids such as beacons, or as directed under radar control by air traffic control. In the case of VFR, a pilot navigates heavily using dead calculations combined with visual (pilot) observations, referring to appropriate maps. This can be supplemented using radio navigation aids. Given the flight plan and the position of the aircraft, the flight management system calculates the route to be taken. The driver can take this course manually, or the autopilot can be configured to take the course. The flight management system mode is normally called LNAV or lateral navigation for the lateral flight plan and VNAV or vertical navigation for the vertical flight plan. VNAV provides targets and speeds of height and altitude, and LNAV provides a balanced control of automatic piloting. • 18. Laurryn Hill Tell Him Analysis The idea of love in relationships has become more popularized throughout the decades. Though the term love is ambiguous and can vary from person to person, Sternberg s Triangular Theory of Love depicts various forms of love based on passion, intimacy, and commitment alone and intersecting to form an intermediate form of love. To illustrate, in the song Tell Him by Lauryn Hill, a combination of intimacy and commitment creates companionate love seen between Hill and God. Companionate love is defined as the affection and tenderness we feel for those with whom our lives are deeply intertwined (Hatfield and Rapson, 1993). Companionate love can be seen in non couple relationships as it excludes passion (infatuation) and exemplifies a relationship built on deep affection and connectedness. Looking at companionate love in its components, intimacy and commitment can range on the degree of intensity. Intimacy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chorus repeating tell him I need him, tell him I love him portrays the dependency on God Hill has; as she continues on in the song using the same verse multiple times, this establishes an emphasis on long term commitment to God and the degree of intimacy Hill has with God. Throughout the song, references to biblical verses like the verse Now I may have faith to make mountains fall, but if I lack love, then I am nothin at all shows Hill s belief that through her faith in God, in all things she can be successful; this again parallels with companionate love. • 19. Women s Roles in The Yellow Wallpaper and The Withered Arm Women s Roles in The Yellow Wallpaper and The Withered Arm In the late 19th century, women were expected to conform to the conventions of society. This meant that they were expected to get married young, pure and beautiful. They were treated like objects as if men bought them. How the woman felt was irrelevant in this period. Women were expected to produce an heir and a spare . Women were also victim to double standards. For example, women had to deal with a child out of wedlock yet were given no responsibility for this. This contrasts strongly to a woman s role in society today. However, women are still expected to get married and give birth to a child. Hardy uses a technique called sympathetic background to show us this when he tells of how Rhoda sat apart from the rest in the milking barn and lived on a lonely spot away from the other milkmaids. In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman also shows sympathy for the plight of women. Like Hardy, she also uses the sympathetic background technique when she illustrates the oppression of the speaker by John and by society. This is illustrated clearly from the very beginning of the story where the speaker says But what is one to do? This shows how she feels she is being trapped and oppressed by society s expectations of her. In The Withered Arm, I feel that Farmer Lodge genuinely believed that he was doing nothing wrong be ignoring and looking down on Rhoda and her son because he felt society expected him to do that, however other people may believe that it was unfair that a woman was left in that position. In The Yellow Wallpaper, I feel that John acted caringly towards the speaker, whereas others may feel that John was over protective. In both stories, the female characters were expected to conform to societies expectations of them and if they did not, they were ostracised from society. For example, in The Withered Arm, we learn that Rhoda has had a child out of wedlock with Farmer Lodge (sympathetic background). For this terrible sin, Rhoda is effectively excluded from society; however, no blame is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Development Of Innovative Educational Methodologies According to Hall (2005, pp188), Insight into the educational, systemic and personal factors, which contribute to the culture of professions, can help guide the development of innovative educational methodologies to improve inter professional collaborative practice. IPE is integral in a healthcare environment, and serves to allow individuals within the healthcare profession to gain an appreciation for differing roles. Using the Kolb s Learning Cycle (1984), I will chronologically reflect upon my experiences of IPE, considering concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation and active experimentation. After having exchanged pleasantries, individuals seemed coy and as theorised by Tuckman (1965), it was inherent that our team was in the forming stage of development within a small group. Polite and perfunctory conversation took place, which made it difficult to progress with the task in hand. Having worked as a member of teams in the past, it was pertinent to use what little time we had wisely and I felt it necessary to adopt the role of a team leader, akin to that theorised by the Hersey Blanchard Situational Leadership® model. Here, I styled my leadership in the manner of selling the task providing information and direction which, accompanied by communication from individuals in the team, would lead to the sale of the task and potential delegation of responsibilities and progression with it. El Shamy * Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt Abstract The influence of gamma irradiation on the electrical and dielectric properties of AgNO3/ PVA films was investigated. The films were prepared by in situ chemical reduction techniques, then irradiated with different gamma doses (25, 50, 75, 100, 125 KGy). The content of the Ag in the PVA film were determined by using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AA), and were found to be 0.4 wt %. The films have been characterized through dielectric spectroscopy and I V measurements. As a result, the dielectric constant (ε) value decreases as the gamma irradiation doses increase. The conductivity of the films and dielectric loss (tan δ) of increases with increasing the gamma irradiation doses. The conductivity was found (σ = 4.9 x10−8 S m−1) for 125 KGy. The Role Of Spna As A Cell Wall Figure 1: Kaplan Meier survival curves of wax worms infected with labelled dose (CFUs) of GAS SpnA variants over 3 days **** P 0.05 (One way ANOVA) A methyl green assay allows quantification of DNAse activity by measuring the change in absorbance as the methyl green DNA complex is degraded (Sinicropi et al. 1994). The SpnA knockout had significantly lower DNAse function than wildtype GAS whilst the non functional complements showed similar activity to the knockouts and the functional complements showed an intermediate function in between that of the knockout and that of the wildtype (Fig. 5) All strains showed higher activity than buffer alone (Fig. 5). Discussion Previous experiments have characterised the role of SpnA as a cell wall anchored DNAse important for immune evasion through the destruction of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) (Buchanan et al. 2006). While small scale in vivo experiments in mice have been conducted (Hasegawa et al. 2010), a Galleria mellonella infection model allows for a larger scale screening of mutants to further refine the role of SpnA in GAS virulence. This is due to the lower cost, easy maintenance, small size and suitability of the wax worm (Ramarao et al. 2012). In the above experiments, the role of SpnA in GAS virulence was clearly demonstrated by the significant difference in killing and the health index of the caterpillars between wild type and ΔSpnA. Some striking similarities do exist among the two texts concepts of honor (êre), loyalty (triuwe), moderation (mâze) and knightly deeds (âventiure) are valued highly by both societies. Siegfried then helps Gunther with the cloak of invisibility to complete tasks of strength, which eventually win Brunhilde. These are deceptions number one and two, and are especially heinous since they occur during a wooing expedition. The third deception of Brunhilde comes about when Siegfried subdues her so that she will sleep with Gunther in the future. Land was taken by Americans and claimed as private property in a culture in which the concepts of privacy and property possession were foreign. After some time, Americans possessed ownership of a majority of Hawaiian land and this allowed them the power to manipulate the land in whatever manner they deemed suitable. I think this period in history aptly depicts racism as a very sad, narrow minded, damaging, and ugly mentality. Anyone who has ever been a target of anything gossip, slander, teasing or felt isolated, ostracized, friendless, misunderstood or misjudged should have a heart for and the ability to empathize with other people. Sadly, while this episode in history (and many others) clearly demonstrates the dangers and horrors of racism, there are still many who choose to embrace the warped mentality from which it springs. History has shown us this repeatedly. Personally, I cannot comprehend such a perspective, as it has no basis in any kind of rational, reasonable, logical principle or ideal. But then, I was always the scrawny kid that stood up for the underdog and fought off bullies, even if they were twice my size and I ended up being the one that took a beating. To me, racism represents a corrupted mentality; a level of arrogance, entitlement, and repackaged, relabeled bullying that is heartbreaking and deplorable. And it is not just Caucasians who have throughout history fallen prey to the ugly tentacles of racism. Frankenstein completely ignores his moral responsibility in relation to his work initially, blinded by his emotions, but once he realised that he had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bad knowledge in contrast, is knowledge that is single minded, driven by personal gain, and possesses very little constraints. Pride is probably the most important human issue that Mary Shelley explores, with Frankenstein s search for knowledge being more a quest for glory than one that was going to genuinely benefit society. A new species would bless me as it creator and source NO father could claim the gratitude of his child so completely as I should deserve theirs. Frankenstein s pride is blatantly displayed, as he disregards, his family, friends and his environment to spend day and night creating the creature, only to become conscious of the fact that it s a monster. His pride is further shown by the fact that he let s an innocent woman die just to preserve his reputation by not speaking out. The way pride is portrayed in the novel indicates that society back then was heavily based on ones reputation and prestige. Goals or aspirations is closely tied in with the other issues discussed earlier, in that both Frankenstein and Walton seek glory, but both realise, Frankenstein the hard way that glory comes at a price, and risks need to be taken in order to achieve one s goal, but its up to that person to decide where the risk is too great. The Prime Minister of England, George Grenville, issued many laws that taxed the colonist for almost everything they bought or sold. The pastors and speakers of this era saw that they were being treated unfairly by their Mother Country and took a stand against it. These men of God spoke out against mistreatment and the unjust laws that had been placed on them. But how significant was the impact made by pastors and speakers on the people that heard their messages? • 41. The Rise Of Consumerism During World War II In today s times, Americans are never too far from a drive through fast food restaurant or a shopping mall. Products such as televisions, microwaves, and cars are necessities in homes in 2014. America was not always the consumerist nation it is now. With thousands of American servicemen returning home after World War II, the United States was filled with an energy that had long been repressed by an economic depression in the 1930 s. By the 1950 s, Americans were ready to move on from the war and start families. Thousands of jobs were created to accommodate all those retuning home, which caused the United States economy to flourish. Since more people were working and receiving higher wages, they were eager to start spending. Because of this, consumerism skyrocketed in the 1950 s. Along with positive post war attitudes, suburbanization and the development of new products can also be attributed to the rise of consumerism during this period. As many American men fought in World War II, the United States economy had slowly started to pick itself up after a devastating crash in 1929 that lasted over a decade. Most men were drafted into the war, which left many jobs open back in the States. To fill these jobs women and African Americans were recruited to fill them, thus making unemployment nearly nonexistent during this period. After World War II had ended, Americans came home with a determination to keep the recovery going. A key way to achieve this was to spend money. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Moon Affect Human Behavior There is very little information about the floor of the sea and the depths of space, but we as humans have come a long way from where we started. For hundreds of years folk stories and horror movies have used the superstition of the moon in order to create a real world appeal. Whether the moon is being held captive by a hostile Native American tribe or werewolves are roaming the town there s no doubt that humans feel the power of the moon. Americans have sent men to the moon and found giant squid in deep sea, but we still have very limited knowledge when it comes to the power of the moon or what s at the bottom of the sea. There is not much information on the topic, but many studies have been done to try to prove or disprove that theory. The results are controversial and spread out. So does the moon affect human behavior? By studying scientific experiments and analyzing data I hope to come to a conclusion. The Full moon may or may not directly or indirectly affect the activity of humans. Jodi tasso and Elizabeth miller, the authors of The effects of the moon on human behavior* describe a study where It was found that the eight categories of rape, robbery and assault, burglary, larceny and theft, auto theft, offenses against family and children, drunkenness, and disorder conduct occurred significantly more frequently during the full moon phase than at other times of the year. The quote shows some potential volatility to the idea that humans could be affected by the moon. • 43. Summary Of A Lady s Dressing Room A Lady s Dressing Room A Lady s Dressing Room by Jonathan Swift is an interesting work of literature, especially for the time period it was written in. A poem like such is about the other side of women men typically do not see (hints the title). By revealing the somewhat more embarrassing side of women, it shows the surrounding society that they not only take forever to get ready, but instead reveal the not so pretty side of the stereotypical women. Society during this time silences women and does not allow them to be true to themselves. Women are also held to a higher more proper standard than the men when it comes to society formalities. Swift integrates different literary ideas throughout this piece, he includes ideas such as: Feminine rhyme, prosody, imagery, a pastoral message in addition to ekphrasis. First off feminine rhyme as well as prosody is used throughout the whole piece. For an example in lines three and four there is a clear connection between the two rhyming words, it states: The goddess from her chamber issues, /Arrayed in lace, brocades and tissues (Swift,3 4). Clearly in this line Swift is describing that some lady issues need to be handled with tissues . This line is a great example of feminine rhyme as well as prosody, because women are often thought of as more sensitive than men and this continual rhyming pattern remains present throughout the whole poem. By taking on a female perspective from the beginning Swift is not only challenging the power dynamics is society, he is also giving voice to the females and showing the more sensitive side. Think about it this way, if a male would have written this piece it more than likely would not been emotional and sensitive because men are typically more insensitive than women. Secondly another great literary device Swift uses would be imagery. Imagery is throughout the remainder of the poem as it is describing the daily routine of a women, but the one part that is bolder than the others would have to be when he states: And first a dirty smock appeared/Beneath the armpits well besmeared (Swift, 11 12). This is a great example of imagery being used. By painting a picture in the reader s mind, the author is giving it a more real time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result, more and more countries are using various methods to slowly increase the percentage of women. One of the more popular methods is to use a quota. A quota is a mandatory or voluntary number or percentage of women needed to be placed or hired. (www.lop.parl.gc.ca) Since the adoption of constitutional quotas, the country of Rwanda has been first in female representation since 2003. Women make up about 48.8% to 63.8% of the representation in their governments lower house. (www.lop.parl.gc.ca) Because of the large amount of representation in office, women have more of their issues brought forward and dealt with. For example, in Latin America, the use of quotas has led to improvements on divorce, domestic violence legislation, and child care. (Smith, 2005) The involvement with national and international non governmental organizations (NGOs) along with other women s groups have been quite beneficial. With these groups and organizations, women not only have international and transnational relationships with others, but they can also use these groups to promote women s rights, organize resistances, and to handle issues in regards to a global women s agenda.
