The Use of Fiber Optics in Communications Essay
The Use of Fiber Optics in Communications The field of communications is one in which the
technologies are changing on an almost daily basis. Numerous different technologies have been
pursued over the past few years; each designed to essentially accomplish several basic purposes in
terms of community service. Three of the most actively pursued application include interactive
distance learning, video conferencing, and entertainment. While it is the first two, video conferencing
and interactive distance learning, which would serve to the best advantage in terms of education and
business; it is the last, entertainment which has the most appeal to the largest number of people. The

Light enters one end of the fiber from a light bulb, laser, or some other source, and travels essentially
unimpeded all the way to the length of the fiber where it is intercepted by a photosensitive detector
such as an electronic device or even the human eye. The distance of travel varies according to the use
to anywhere from just a few inches to over one hundred and fifty miles. Fiber optic cable can transmit
large amounts of information over one hundred and fifty miles almost instantaneously. While it takes
five hours to transmit the contents of an encyclopedia over copper wires, the entire work can be
transmitted in less than a minute over fiber optics (Yawn PG). Single Mode/Multi Mode Fibers
referred to as single mode are most often used for the longer distance transmissions. Multi mode fibers
are used in applications requiring less distance. They are less expensive than single mode fibers and
accept light from a larger variety of sources and from different angles. Single mode fibers are smaller
in diameter than are multi mode and are particular both about the type of light they will accept and the
angle at which it can be introduced. They typically accept light only when it is directly input to the
axis of the fiber. This ability requires special light sources such as lasers and

Why Is It Important For All People Learn About Language...
I believe that it is important for all people to learn another language other than their native language. I
come from a family with great pride of heritage my father s family begin German and mother s family
begin Russian I learned multiple languages growing up. Since having this background I wanted to
learn more languages and know I can speak eight languages English, German, Russian, Arabic,
Spanish, Finnish, Ukrainian and French. I know learning a language is a long a stressful process, but it
will help you in the long run in any field of study.
Learning all this has helped me throughout my life. An example of this is when I was at the Bayshore
mall with some of my friends, and a woman who was wearing a Hijab was asking us where something
was, but we really couldn t understand her so I started talking to her in Arabic to help her out.
Learning languages doesn t just help with communication, but it also helps people see life from a
different perspective and helps with understanding a culture. Most people feel that they don t need to
learn a language because we re American and we speak English, but we are a land of mixed cultures
who needs to realize that this would make us a more intellectual country with a lot more
understanding. The field of study you enter in to will more then likely to work at an international scale
or you ll work with someone with is a different nationality.
Another reason for learning a language is for when someone travels the world, but doesn t

The bollywood industry is one of the largest industries in India, though it is still not considered to be a

it is one of the most lucrative and highly volatile sectors, where a film can make or break careers.
The movie industry largely depends on the audience, the consuming public for its revenue. The way
and means to reach this diverse audience is through promotions.
Where once, the only source of promotions was word of mouth , today there are diverse mediums

National Expansion Backbone
Thomas Jefferson was the backbone for National Expansion in the United States. During Thomas
Jefferson s presidency he made remarkable and revolutionary movements. One remarkable
presidential decision was the purchase of Louisiana Territory (1803). A shocking 828,000 square miles
of land stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada, from the Mississippi river to the rocky
Mountains. This nearly doubled the size of the United States. Shortly after purchasing the territory,
Jefferson set life to the Lewis and Clark expedition. In 1803 Jefferson commissioned the Lewis and
Clark expedition, to explore the new NorthWest territory. The following year, 1804, 45 men lead by
Meriwether Lewis and Clark went up the Missouri River. However, prior to the expedition and
Louisiana purchase Jefferson had dreamed of sending explorers across the United States to make new

System Development Life Cycle Essay
Computer system plays an important role in solving human problem in their daily life. There are
standard steps in order to develop information system called System Development Life Cycle
(SDLC). SDLC is the framework available to build a complete system. There are five phases in SDLC
which are planning, analysis, design, coding, testing and maintenance (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix
1). The first phase in SDLC is planning. In this phase, the potential system development project is
identified. Project manager summarizes all strength and weakness that possible to occur using their
professional skills (Hoffer, George, Valacich, 2008). Next, business plan is defined and documented

The interview session has been done by include an open ended and closed ended question which are
related to the implemented project. Next, sampling technique is executed by system analyst who does
evaluation to the current system or prototype. These processes give feedback in evaluation form that
filled after tested the system. Lastly, observation is performed by using questionnaire form. According
to Burch (1992), the questionnaire is analyzed and transform into structured form that easy to
understand. After all information has been collected, structuring of system requirement takes place. It
focused on development process modeling which perform graphically representing the process, or
actions, that capture, manipulate, store, and distribute data between a system and environment (Hoffer,
George, Valacich, 2012, p. 182). In this step, Data flow diagram (DFD) is structured by system analyst
using special tools and techniques to create a decision table. According to Hoffer, George and Valacich
(2012), decision table is a diagram of process logic where the logic is reasonably complicated (p. 200).
This table is useful to help system analyst to make a decision toward the project. Then all information
s gained from this phase are documented in System Analysis Report (SAR) that acts as a guideline or
reference to the future system development project (Burch, 1992). The next phase in SDLC is design.

The Struggles of Mexicans in Mexican-American History Essay
The Struggles of Mexicans in Mexican American History
Mexico s problems originally began upon the arrival of the Spanish in 1492, as illustrated in Major
Problems in Mexican American History by Zaragosa Vargas as well as in the video documentary,
Chicano!. The sequence of events which date back to the precolonial Spanish days and take place in
Mexico s history eventually provoke the national movement that called for social justice and equality,
especially after the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Then came the question of group and
individual identity. Those of Mexican heritage were broken up into the groups Chicanos, which were

The Indians in the areas of conquest resisted and revolted, even after the independence of Mexico

The establishments of settlements throughout the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries

Each patient regardless if the condition is the same or not, is unique in the treatment. Nurses must treat
each patient and their condition in a unique fashion to avoid a bias. Not all patients will have the same
recovery time or same length of treatment. Nurses must be able to know how a patient can improve
their overall health by using the three levels of prevention. The nurses number one goal in treating a
healthy patient is preventing a future complication. The nurse can provide secondary prevention by
educating patients at risk for prostate cancer to get screened. The nurse also provides tertiary
prevention by preventing further or secondary complications related to a chronic issue. The third
paradigm is environment. Environment/situation includes all possible conditions affecting patients and
the settings in which their health care needs occur (p. 41). The environment can consist of many
different elements. Some environmental conditions must be made to promote better patient health
depending on the condition. A burn patient will require a room with heat lamps to prevent
hypothermia for example. Some patients have to adapt to a new environment because of a new
diagnosis. Some medications require a patient to avoid sunlight exposure, and a patient that enjoys the
outdoors must learn to adapt and change their norm. The nurses can provide education about
alternatives to a patient that must

Essay On Racial Profiling
It is frequently said that the way you approach someone is the way that they get their first impression
of you. So if you come off negatively at first, that lessens the chances of a person liking you. This can
also relate to the way someone perceives what type of person you are, dependending upon looks,
clothes, and of course race.
The act of racial profiling has become more serious than ever; although this problem has been around
for centuries, racial profiling has recently gained attention in the news. You may think that the cases
broadcasted on the news are the only major cases of racial profiling and that it doesn t happen very
often, but in reality it happens quite a bit.

upon race. To be very blunt, the ratio of black to white people in my school was about 4:1. I was a
very quiet girl especially during my sixth grade year. In seventh grade I began to open up more, but
this caused frequent altercations. As people began to know my name I recruited names such as preppy
and white girl . I found the phrase white girl to be ironic considering the fact that I am fully Hispanic.
When I corrected anyone who believed I was white, I would often get I didn t know you were
mexican, you look like you re white! . These accusations and the shocked looks on the faces of those
who knew the truth never disappeared. Being a Senior in High School and knowing most of my fellow
classmates, I still frequently get the same comments or faces of those who have never thought twice
about my race because I look white or I act white . Through the years of receiving comments like this,
I ve come to the realization that these judgements of people based upon their appearance happen all of
the time. I will admit to doing this myself and giving the same comments as I have gotten. These
racial judgements don t just come with African American or Caucasian

Alexander At Issus
The artworks I am going to write about are The Battle of Alexander at Issus by Albrecht Altdorfer, and
Third of May,1808 by Francisco Jose de Goya. While The Battle of alexander at Issus is an example
of Northern Renaissance, and Third of May, 1808 is an example of Romantic art. Both these artworks
are important as they both share the theme of War, but the outcome is completely contrasting. The use
of colors in both these works are also completely opposite and it prove further how the same theme

Romantic Era was more expressionistic and was facing very turbulent times, which is very evident in
the forbiddingly dark artwork by Goya. Even though the main theme is about war in both these
paintings, the different eras and the different society inspired two very different outcomes. In The
Battle of Issus Altdorfer uses nature to convey harmony, and the victory of man over man. The
celestial drama above the vast landscape correlated with the human contest below raises the scene to a
cosmic level. The painting is full of bright, wonderful, and creative images that easily amaze people
the more they look at it. Although the ant like people fill the painting with chaos and the incredible
sky gives off power you can still feel a sense of peace. While on the other hand, Goya, in spite of
being emplyed by the Court, remained a revolutionary. He hated authority in any form: priests,
soldiers, officials; and he knew that, given the chance, they would exploit the helpless and keep them
down by force. It is this feeling of indignation which gives symbolic force to the man in the white

coupled with governmental changes in health care reimbursement structures have compelled
considerable reductions in force in health care organizations and in some instances elimination of

Employees must be allowed actively to participate in problem solving and process improvements to be
engaged with moving the department forward. When it comes to personal growth, people need to feel
that they are advancing toward their career objectives and are learning and contributing new ideas. To
feel engaged at work, they need to feel that their manager cares about their own personal growth and
advancement, Kruse (2012). The concept of teamwork and personal growth has been successful in
many organizations and has been proven to improve employee job satisfaction. Having open and
honest communication with individuals and teams is another method of motivating employees. In
order for employees to be engaged in achieving departmental goals they must feel as though they are
appreciated and their thoughts and ideas are valued. A manager must have effective communication
skills with staff to build these relationships. According to Kruse (2012), communication is critical
because it forms the backbone for all other engagement efforts. It is important for managers to create a
system of two way communication and not just a method of broadcasting information as found in
many organizations. Suggestion for effective communication include: being an active listener, using a

Nietzsche s Concept of Eternal Recurrence
Friedrich Nietzsche is a German philosopher who lived in 1844 to 1900, and his proposition on eternal
recurrence was one of his most discussed works. The concept states that the world is eternally self
destroying, then self creating, over time. He radicalizes the Christian concept of eternity and combines
it with simple reasoning to come up with an innovative concept. This paper will discuss in detail what
eternal recurrence is and the implications of such a concept on free spirits, and whether adopting such
a belief will make a person s life better or not. The paper will then proceed to offer a response to
criticism on Nietzsche s proposition. The text to be used is the second edition of Existentialism: Basic

For the paper to portray balance and respect to divergent opinions, it will offer an argument that
counters the chosen position, and then offer a response to this counter argument. Upon completion of
these, the paper will offer a conclusion that summarizes its contents and tie up all concepts presented.
Eternal recurrence is a notion that states that the world is recurrent and will continue in such manner
to form a self similar and infinite time. It was founded in ancient Indian and Egyptian philosophy and
was heavily employed by Nietzsche, who used it as a central faucet of his philosophy. If such a
concept was indeed true, and man lived a constantly recurring life, then its adoption would result in a
better life. This is because a person would try to maximize the number of good experience, as every
pleasure inducing experience will recur throughout (Guignon Pereboom 2001). When a person
believes that the same experiences will recur in other lives, then one will want to ensure that most of
these experiences are mostly gratifying, such that, through each recurrence, the person will continue
experiencing the same pleasure. The free spirit will aim at engaging in activities that will result in a
fulfilled life, meaning that a person will become more ambitious, more

Taser Research Paper
Taser Misuse and Police Use of Force
Introduction
Officers endure about six months of training in the academy. After the academy they continue to train
yearly. Although they train yearly many do not have the training in dealing with people that have
mental health problems. Not being trained properly in the mental health can lead to the misuse of the
officer s weapons. Officers know who not to tase but sometimes have mishaps and tase people who
are pregnant. If needed officers tase people who are on drugs but people who are on drugs have a
much higher chance of death. The misuse of tasers by law enforcement can cause serious injury.
Officers need to be aware of who they tase and how much force they use.

It is safer for the officer to use a taser against a combative suspect rather than using hand to hand

Researchers conducted an analysis of 12 of the largest agencies on the east coast. The analysis
confirms that in those 12 agencies using a taser was safer than using hand to hand combat
(Bulman,2010). Tasers are safe when used on a healthy person. Although they are safe to use on health
person the officer has to follow the guidelines of the manufacture to ensure the safety of the people. If
the person is on stimulant drug while being tased it increases their chance of injury. Those stimulant
drugs include methamphetamine, crack, cocaine, ecstasy, and caffeine. Not all officers are trained to

The Reflection Of Being A CURO Honor Scholar
As this semester draws to a close and I reflect upon it, I am grateful for having taken this class and to

class, but I think this difference has been beneficial. CURO 4970H entailed class lectures, writing
assignments, and presentation assignments. These assignments composed the class portion while

The class portion this year has had the greatest impact on me academically and personally. In class, we
discussed how to write personal statements, resumes, and abstracts. In addition to that, we also learned
how to present ourselves through elevator speeches and how to prepare for interviews. For all of the in
class lectures, we had a writing assignment or presentation assignment that not only helped to
reinforce what we learned but also gave us usable drafts and practices for any future opportunities in
which their implementation may be useful. In doing so, I was able to grasp more firmly the material
we covered in class and I had a physical representation of my work in the above mentioned formats

Theme Of Appearance Vs Reality In Macbeth
In real life, many define their trust by judging solely on others by their appearances. Trust is valued if
one is to appear trust worthy or not. Though sometimes, appearances are deceiving. The theme of
Appearance versus reality refers to the entire world in this book. Many of the characters such as
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are deceived by what seems real, but is not. This mistaken judgment of
what is real or not shadows the consequences that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth encounter. At first
Macbeth s characters gives the impression of bravery and strength, and also appears at one point, that
he is capable of being a warrior. But throughout the book, it is well aware that Macbeth s character has

Jupiter s 3 Year Research Paper
Have you ever considered the falsehood of some of the information that you ve been fed? Just think
about it. It seems that every discovery is made by a curious European scientist . For example, Galileo
Galilei is considered to have discovered Jupiter s four moons in 1610, and the moons have even been
named Galilean Moons , but Africans, the Dogon people to be exact, actually discovered Jupiter s four
moons over 60,000 years ago. This is just one of many example of many of African discoveries that
they were not credited for along with further findings in astronomy, weapons, metallurgy, and tools,
and mathematics. For starters, astronomy has been dated back to as early as 3200 BC in Mali, West
Africa, which, by the way, is the earliest time dated for the field. The Dogon people of Mali were able
to chart the movement of the sun, recognize constellations, and chart the cycle of the moon. While the
Mayans created the first calendar in 3114 BC, Africans created the calendar that we currently use
today. Mayans used a two calendar system that could not predict days more than 52 days ahead, and it
divided a 365 day calendar into 18 twenty day months. The Africans, however, created the African
Stonehenge, a calendar that could predict as far as one would like, that consists of 365 ... Show more

calculated distances and angles along with solving algebraic based on minimum resources, like the

The City of Albany decided to upgrade a fleet of repair trucks in order to respond to pothole fixing.
ACME manufactured a cab and chassis of a truck that was then sold to Keefer Motors. Keefer Motors

ACME s implied warranty of merchantability extends to making a promise that the goods are fit for
the ordinary purposes for which they are sold which is a cab (place that holds the driver) and a chassis
(flat area attached to cab). As a manufacturer, ACME s implied warranty is the cab/chassis which was
fit for the ordinary purposes of being a truck shell, they have no knowledge of how the unit will be
utilized. A back up sensor (unless required by law) does not make the unit unfit for the ordinary
purposes of being a truck.
Keefer Motors is not accountable for breach of warranty of merchantability as they were selling to the
City of Albany a cab/chassis and the statement of facts asserts that no discussion took place with the
city as to the purpose of the use of truck. Again product can still perform and no warranty was made
regarding a back up alarm.
Breach of implied warranty of fitness by Susan s Truck Equipment has not been proven as no proof is
shown as to what STE might have advised the City of Albany about adding on safety features. The
City of Albany had the duty to its employees to modify the truck with safety capabilities as they are
the entity to know the intended purpose of the modified vehicle for pothole reparations. Statement of

COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE WAY WORDSWORTH AND HUGHES WRITE ABOUT
NATURE
IN THEIR POEMS DAFFODILS AND THISTLES
Hughes wrote the poem Thistles which is about how these plants are.
He speaks about them as if they were a sign of violence, and violent creatures. He views them as a
symbol of vengeance, pain and threat.
The thistles are spiky and can hurt anyone. They are dull, immortal, green, rough, and produce a big
amount of chaos, written in????????
Wordsworth on the other hand, wrote about Daffodils which are small golden flowers. They look
vivid, colourful and peaceful. These flowers produce a state of calm, sweet and memorable moments.

The form of Hughes poem contributes to its content and theme in many ways. The theme of the poem
is that the thistles represent a battle.
More and more plants appear, and the other plants get other older.
They get chopped, it becomes a big fight. So the theme is about a battle that takes place which some
thistles moaned and some are planted. The theme is mainly about violence and about how the thistles
are, what they look like. The Daffodils poem has a different theme.
The theme is about happiness, joy and good things in life when daffodils are around, how colourful
they are their movement and the way that they have affected Wordsworth s life. The form makes the
theme and content be different to the form of the Thistles poem. The content of the Daffodils poem is
that it is full of words that makes you feel calm and relaxed while you read the poem, as it has nice
and sweet things, and the way Wordsworth expresses his feelings for the daffodils is such that it even
affects the content, it makes the content better.
Each poet has used language to communicate atmosphere, ideas and attitudes in their poems. In each
poem there are a few aspects in language which are quite effective. In Hughes poem, he uses olden
language and olden words to communicate the feeling of the thistles.
He uses rough words, and horrible words to create an atmosphere like

Examples Of Friendship In The Founding Brothers
Friendship remained one of the major themes seen throughout Founding Brothers. Certain connections
could change how things became accomplished and turned out. Knowing certain people can determine
where you stand, what kind of reputation you hold, and sometimes what you are able to accomplish.
Befriending and losing friends were ways the Founding Fathers were able to institute this nation. The
majority of the founding fathers were acquaintances and even friends. These ties helped each man
succeed in certain ways. For example, the dinner hosted by Thomas Jefferson included his friends
Alexander Hamilton and James Madison. The joining of these men resulted in a compromise that
some say, saved the Union. Another example of friendship helping ... Show more content on

The first example is when Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr defriended each other due to constant
switching of political allegiance. Hamilton and Burr were friends throughout the Revolution, but their
rapport slowly dwindled when Burr won the Senator seat over Hamilton s father in law in 1791. This
caused the old friends to separate. This separation changed how the Cabinet was set up because
Hamilton chose to support Thomas Jefferson instead of Aaron Burr. Another example of a torn
friendship is the friendship Thomas Jefferson and John Adams shared. John Adams beat Thomas
Jefferson and became the second president of our nation. The two men s friendship became sour soon
after. Thomas Jefferson hired a yellow journalist to dig up uncanny information on John Adams and
had it published. This drove the two friends even farther apart. The fading friendship between these
two men changed how things were, and in fact, the two men didn t speak for almost 12 years. The last
example of this is James Madison and Alexander Hamilton collaborated to further benefit the
federalists, but this collaborations and friendship ended when Alexander Hamilton proposed the

Keeping the Past Alive in in A Rose for Emily by William...
Miss Emily Grierson, the leading character in A Rose for Emily , is a bizarre woman to say the least.
Faulkner begins this story with Miss Emily s funeral, and continues to tell about the interesting events
in her life. All throughout the story, Miss Emily exhibits many traits of a mentally ill person, but is
never medically diagnosed. Faulkner writes, Miss Emily had been a tradition, a duty, and a care (245),
meaning that she stuck to her Southern raised ways. She refused to conform to the modernization of
the world around her. The narrator of this story seems to be a person that knows Miss Emily and her
family very intimately. The narrator also considers themselves apart of the townspeople referred to as
the we throughout the story. This story tells about the ups and downs in the extremely intriguing life of
a woman that refuses to leave her past. After her death, the whole town went to her funeral: the men
through a sort of respectful affection for a fallen monument, the women mostly out of curiosity to see
the inside of her house (Faulkner 244). No one had been into her home in at least a decade except for
the workers. Faulkner uses imagery to describe the big, squarish framed house that had once been
white (244). Miss Emily came from a wealthy family during the Antebellum Era, and her house
appears to not have been touched up since then. Miss Emily was not one to accept to charity by any
means. After the death of her father, Colonel Sartoris remitted

Speech On Pickled Eggs
If you ve never tasted a pickled egg you are missing out! For vinegar lovers, hard boiled egg lovers
and pub goers, pickled eggs are the perfect snack. Pickled eggs are hard boiled eggs that are preserved
in vinegar and seasonings for at least two days.
It was thought that the British brought pickled eggs to America, but others are certain that it was the
Germans. Whoever brought them, thank you! These sweet and sour eggs have become popular in
pubs, taverns and bars all over the world due to their harmonious pairing with beer.
Many early recipes came from the Pennsylvania Dutch, including several recipes for pickled beet eggs
where whole beets, onions, vinegar, sugar, salt, cloves, and a cinnamon stick are used as the brine.

Macbeth Act 1.7 Soliloquy Essay
Macbeth s second soliloquy in Act 1.7 reveals the emotional and mental turmoil he suffers while
contemplating the act of murdering King Duncan. It is here that Shakespeare first offers his judgement
on the harsh effect rampant ambition has on even the most virtuous of characters. The beginning of the
play depicts brave Macbeth (1.2) as a valiant general and devoted subject of the king, all words that
were spoken about Macbeth characterise him as only an honourable man and nothing less. However,
is it because of his vaulting ambition (1.7) that Macbeth abandons his morals and makes the decision
to murder King Duncan. Macbeth s thoughts, at the beginning of the soliloquy, focus on the
consequences that may result from killing the King.

The soliloquy shows that Macbeth is aware that the deed of killing Duncan is morally wrong, and he is
frightened that in doing so it will motivate others ambition inspiring them to do the same. Macbeth
then has considerations of feudal obligations and ties of kinship (Regan. S).
... He s here in double trust;
First, as I am his kinsman and his subject,
Strong both against the deed; then, as his host,
Who should against his murderer shut the door,
Not bear the knife myself...
There is still a war between ambition and ethics inside of Macbeth s mind, although he wants to be
king, as both a kinsman and [a] subject it would be sinful to murder King Duncan. As [King Duncan s]
host Macbeth feels that it is his responsibility to prevent the killing of the King, not to be the one who
executes the plan. However, even with all his doubts and morals, Macbeth is overruled by his
ambition and he decides to kill his kinsman.

Sexual Harassment At The Workplace
Part B
As seen in the case study, a court decision may be one way for any company to legally define what
constitutes sexual harassment in the workplace, but there are many ways to define sexual harassment.
Everyone has different views and tolerance levels towards sexual harassment. When a case of sexual
harassment occurs in a workplace, however, it comes down to how the courts define sexual
harassment. The Supreme Court defines sexual harassment to be unlawful in two ways. The first type
involves sexual harassment that results in a tangible employment action; this is referred to as quid pro
quo. For example, if an employee complies with the harasser s request, then she will get a raise. This
unlawful act is usually presented in the workplace by a person who has an upper hand, such as a
manager, to ensure that s/he will get what s/he wants. Employees are often victimized by fear that they
will not get promoted or that they will get fired. They also dread that if a complaint is filed, it will not
be handled correctly. This instance of sexual harassment always involves another violation of
employee rights; [sic] wrongful termination. This would occur, for instance, when a supervisor . . .
tells a subordinate that . . . she must be sexually cooperative with [him] or . . . she will be fired, and
who then indeed does fire the subordinate for not submitting ( U.S. Supreme Court Defines ).

Another form of sexual harassment is known as hostile work environment.

Film Analysis Of Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
As one of the most monumental anniversaries of all time approaches, it is only right that we revisit the
work of one of the most inspirational people of all time. Obviously, this means William Shakespeare,
right? Not quite. Although Shakespeare to some is the godfather of literature, he can also be seen as
the godfather of boredom. That is why it has been decided to review a different type of Shakespearean
play. 400 years ago marks the death of William Shakespeare, and while his worth is still regarded
among older generations, it does not have quite the same effect on the younger. That is until Baz
Luhrmann graced the silver screens with his youthful and lively interpretation of Romeo and Juliet.
The 1996 version set in a modern day America has enraptured and educated a whole new generation
of young people for the past 21 years and promises to continue to stand the test of time. So what
makes Romeo + Juliet so good?
For anyone that has seen this film, it goes without saying that what Baz Luhrmann has created is
stunningly beautiful. With elements such as music, sound and editing, not to mention the mis en scene
that shapes the film and the actors performance to corroborate it, this is not just any ordinary movie.
Romeo + Juliet has the opportunity to transform and take viewers to another world right from the
moment they press play.
From the very beginning the film presents itself as a visual and audio feast your senses. As the
opening scenes take place, director Baz

Synthesis and Analysis of Iron(III) Oxalate Complex Discussion
This experiment initially involved the synthesis of an iron (III) oxalate complex with the general
formula Kw[Fex(C2O4)y] zH2O. The variables x, y, and z were determined
through the duration of the entire experiment. Part 1 involves the synthesis of an iron (III) oxalate
complex. The iron is first presented in its Fe2+ form, so it must first be oxidized to
Fe3+ before the oxalate ion will readily bind to it. Hydrogen peroxide is the oxidant of choice: 2Fe2+
(aq) + H2O2 (l) + 2H+ (aq) 2Fe3+ (aq) + 2H2O (l), in acidic solution.
The oxalate ion is then free to coordinate to the Fe3+ ion, forming a ... Show more content on

Part 2 of this experiment invoked the use of redox
titrating to determine the oxalate content (C2O42 ) of the salt. An aqueous solution of the iron oxalate
salt is prepared for titration, and the oxalate content is found through analysis
by measuring the volume of titrant.
Part 3 of the experiment utilized Spectrophotometry to determine the iron content in the iron (III)
oxalate complex. The results were combined with findings from Part 1 and
Part 2 to determine the empirical formula and percentage yield of the compound synthesized in Part 1.
Spectrophotometry is a routine laboratory test that has the added advantage
of being able to analyze multiple samples in a short amount of time. The most efficient way of
determining concentration is to prepare a set of standard solutions of known
concentration, record the absorbance readings at a fixed wavelength, and plot the absorbance vs.
concentration data. The wavelength of 520 nm was selected for experiment Part
3 because this is the maximum absorbance for the iron (III) ion. The Beer s Law Plot that was graphed
came out to be linear with an equation of:
Absorbance = 5.395 x 10^3(Fe^+2 Bipy) 0.0014.
The empirical formula that was determined was different from that of the true compound mentioned.
The empirical formula determined was:
K3[Fe(C2O4^ 2)3] 3 H2O
If had there been a better alternate method to determining the iron

Light enters one end of the fiber from a light bulb, laser, or some other source, and travels essentially unimpeded all the way to the length of the fiber where it is intercepted by a photosensitive detector such as an electronic device or even the human eye. The distance of travel varies according to the use to anywhere from just a few inches to over one hundred and fifty miles. Fiber optic cable can transmit large amounts of information over one hundred and fifty miles almost instantaneously. While it takes five hours to transmit the contents of an encyclopedia over copper wires, the entire work can be transmitted in less than a minute over fiber optics (Yawn PG). Single Mode/Multi Mode Fibers referred to as single mode are most often used for the longer distance transmissions. Multi mode fibers are used in applications requiring less distance. They are less expensive than single mode fibers and accept light from a larger variety of sources and from different angles. Single mode fibers are smaller in diameter than are multi mode and are particular both about the type of light they will accept and the angle at which it can be introduced. They typically accept light only when it is directly input to the axis of the fiber. This ability requires special light sources such as lasers and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I come from a family with great pride of heritage my father s family begin German and mother s family begin Russian I learned multiple languages growing up. Since having this background I wanted to learn more languages and know I can speak eight languages English, German, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Finnish, Ukrainian and French. I know learning a language is a long a stressful process, but it will help you in the long run in any field of study. Learning all this has helped me throughout my life. An example of this is when I was at the Bayshore mall with some of my friends, and a woman who was wearing a Hijab was asking us where something was, but we really couldn t understand her so I started talking to her in Arabic to help her out. Learning languages doesn t just help with communication, but it also helps people see life from a different perspective and helps with understanding a culture. Most people feel that they don t need to learn a language because we re American and we speak English, but we are a land of mixed cultures who needs to realize that this would make us a more intellectual country with a lot more understanding. The field of study you enter in to will more then likely to work at an international scale or you ll work with someone with is a different nationality. • 11. Essay On Racial Profiling It is frequently said that the way you approach someone is the way that they get their first impression of you. So if you come off negatively at first, that lessens the chances of a person liking you. This can also relate to the way someone perceives what type of person you are, dependending upon looks, clothes, and of course race. The act of racial profiling has become more serious than ever; although this problem has been around for centuries, racial profiling has recently gained attention in the news. As people began to know my name I recruited names such as preppy and white girl . I found the phrase white girl to be ironic considering the fact that I am fully Hispanic. • 31. Sexual Harassment At The Workplace Part B As seen in the case study, a court decision may be one way for any company to legally define what constitutes sexual harassment in the workplace, but there are many ways to define sexual harassment. Everyone has different views and tolerance levels towards sexual harassment. When a case of sexual harassment occurs in a workplace, however, it comes down to how the courts define sexual harassment. The Supreme Court defines sexual harassment to be unlawful in two ways. The first type involves sexual harassment that results in a tangible employment action; this is referred to as quid pro quo. For example, if an employee complies with the harasser s request, then she will get a raise. This unlawful act is usually presented in the workplace by a person who has an upper hand, such as a manager, to ensure that s/he will get what s/he wants. Employees are often victimized by fear that they will not get promoted or that they will get fired. They also dread that if a complaint is filed, it will not be handled correctly. This instance of sexual harassment always involves another violation of employee rights; [sic] wrongful termination. This would occur, for instance, when a supervisor . . . tells a subordinate that . . . she must be sexually cooperative with [him] or . . . she will be fired, and who then indeed does fire the subordinate for not submitting ( U.S. Supreme Court Defines ). • 32. Film Analysis Of Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet As one of the most monumental anniversaries of all time approaches, it is only right that we revisit the work of one of the most inspirational people of all time. Obviously, this means William Shakespeare, right? Not quite. Although Shakespeare to some is the godfather of literature, he can also be seen as the godfather of boredom. That is why it has been decided to review a different type of Shakespearean play. 400 years ago marks the death of William Shakespeare, and while his worth is still regarded among older generations, it does not have quite the same effect on the younger. That is until Baz Luhrmann graced the silver screens with his youthful and lively interpretation of Romeo and Juliet. The 1996 version set in a modern day America has enraptured and educated a whole new generation of young people for the past 21 years and promises to continue to stand the test of time. So what makes Romeo + Juliet so good? For anyone that has seen this film, it goes without saying that what Baz Luhrmann has created is stunningly beautiful. With elements such as music, sound and editing, not to mention the mis en scene that shapes the film and the actors performance to corroborate it, this is not just any ordinary movie. Romeo + Juliet has the opportunity to transform and take viewers to another world right from the moment they press play. From the very beginning the film presents itself as a visual and audio feast your senses. As the opening scenes take place, director Baz ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Oxalate Lab Essay Dr. Hjorth Gustin Chemistry 201 Lab November 8th, 2010 Synthesis and Analysis of Iron(III) Oxalate Complex Discussion This experiment initially involved the synthesis of an iron (III) oxalate complex with the general formula Kw[Fex(C2O4)y] zH2O. The variables x, y, and z were determined through the duration of the entire experiment. Part 1 involves the synthesis of an iron (III) oxalate complex. The iron is first presented in its Fe2+ form, so it must first be oxidized to Fe3+ before the oxalate ion will readily bind to it. Hydrogen peroxide is the oxidant of choice: 2Fe2+ (aq) + H2O2 (l) + 2H+ (aq) 2Fe3+ (aq) + 2H2O (l), in acidic solution. The oxalate ion is then free to coordinate to the Fe3+ ion, forming a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Part 2 of this experiment invoked the use of redox titrating to determine the oxalate content (C2O42 ) of the salt. An aqueous solution of the iron oxalate salt is prepared for titration, and the oxalate content is found through analysis by measuring the volume of titrant. Part 3 of the experiment utilized Spectrophotometry to determine the iron content in the iron (III) oxalate complex. The results were combined with findings from Part 1 and Part 2 to determine the empirical formula and percentage yield of the compound synthesized in Part 1. Spectrophotometry is a routine laboratory test that has the added advantage of being able to analyze multiple samples in a short amount of time. The most efficient way of determining concentration is to prepare a set of standard solutions of known concentration, record the absorbance readings at a fixed wavelength, and plot the absorbance vs. concentration data. The wavelength of 520 nm was selected for experiment Part 3 because this is the maximum absorbance for the iron (III) ion. The Beer s Law Plot that was graphed
