Swing Band History
Swing can be traced back to a style called Dixieland jazz which was created by African American
musicians in the later 1920 s in New Orleans. It became the most popular and a successful kind of
music during the 1930 s, being played by band leaders such as Duke Ellington, Jimmie Lunceford,
Bennie Moten, Cab Calloway and Fletcher Henderson.
The instruments found in a swing band are very similar to the instruments found in a jazz band.
Both contain a brass section that have trumpet and trombone, a rhythm section with bass, piano and
drums and a wind section with saxophone and clarinet. But the swing band very occasionally used
the string section unlike jazz bands. Swing music is played with a medium tempo. A unique
characteristic of swing is that the drums are the only fully rhythmical instrument.
Fundamentally swing is orchestral and largely influenced by European music. It is also widely
recognised for having contributed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was seen as morally and socially unacceptable. Because it has roots in African American culture,
the white majority dismissed it as its improvisation, racy lyrics, lack of strings and fast tempo were
deemed as cultural degradation. But this changed when the musician Benny Goodman; a well
known and well liked white bandleader adopted the style and playing it in the Palomar Ballroom in
1935. After this it became quickly popular among the younger patrons and became the hot style of
music all over the country.
After this from 1935 1946 became known as the swing era as swing became extremely popular in
America. With a wider acceptance of swing music, large mainstream bands began to incorporate the
style into their repertoires. Musicians required more detailed and organised compositions and
notation. Because of this bandleaders had to spend more time on their arrangements to avoid the
chaos of multiple musicians improvising at

Mobile Cloud Computing And Technology
Abstract
As advances in technology occur, mobile cloud computing is able to overcome the issue of resource
poverty that occurs in mobile devices. Manufacturers now look at cloud computing as an asset
because they can run their products better. The number of businesses and individuals that are
investing in cloud computing services is anticipated to grow rapidly. Rapid growth of this nature
will have a large impact in the IT industry. This study shows that cloud computing, including mobile
computing, is a major contribution to the expansion of output and employment within the IT sector.
An improvement in performance is making mobile cloud computing a better choice for consumers.
In recent years, changes in the mobile cloud computing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thinks that manufacturers depend on their mobile devices more than past years (Columbus,
2014). For manufacturers to benefit their mobile devices and take advantage of the automated
process, they need to enter in the customer s personality on purchasing products into the system. It
is also beneficial to figure out why the customer is purchasing such items (Columbus, 2014).
Is mobile cloud computing growing enough to increase the demand for manufacturing jobs?
Should businesses use more mobile devices to generate additional manufacturing jobs, or is it as
simple as having more mobile devices built for sale by those manufacturing mobile devices? Is
mobile cloud computing growing fast enough to increase the demand for mobile devices to
generate manufacturing jobs? Further study by Staten, Csorny, and Minnick show why advances in
mobile cloud computing exists and the answer is businesses using more mobile devices as stated
by Subramanian and Columbus. As a solution, more mobile devices may need to be manufactured
in order to keep up with customer orders as mentioned by Columbus.
Mobile cloud computing is part of the expansion that is a leading contribution to the increased
growth in output and employment in the IT industry. One avenue for mobile cloud computing is
that rapid growth is expected to have high in demand service in markets such as software,
hardware, and IT outsourcing. The performance of mobile

Racial Disparities Of Mass Incarceration
Racial disparities in mass incarceration
Introduction
Mass Incarceration in the United States has been a large topic of choice because rapid growth in
the prison and jail populations, the long sentences the inmates face, and the inability for some
inmates to incorporate themselves back into society. Since the 1970 s the U.S. prison population
quadrupled from 158 to 635 people per 100,000, causing the U.S. to gain the title of country with
the highest incarceration rate. (Massoglia, Firebaugh, Warner, 2013, p. 142; Muller, 2012) As the
growth of the U.S prison and jail population rapidly increased, so did the growth of the three major
contributors to that population African Americans, Hispanics, and whites with African Americanand

Muller s study found that though the number of African American incarceration increased after the
1970 s, one of the causes of the rise that contributed to roughly thirty percent of the African
American incarceration came about long before during the initial migration of many African
Americans to the North between 1880 and 1950. The migration was related to the rise in African
American incarceration in that the African Americans who migrated from the South were migrating
from a comparatively low nonwhite incarceration rate to the comparatively high nonwhite
incarceration rate that was in the North. Though the migration had a direct effect on the increase of
incarcerations of the African American population, it did not cause a rise in the number of white
incarcerations, thus causing a rise in racial disparity in prisons and jails before mass incarceration
was established.
An additional study that Muller conducted was related to the number of foreign whites being
incarcerated or joined as a part of a state s police force and their relationship with the African
Americans incarceration rate. Mullers findings suggest that as African American migrants started

The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio
In the book, The Decameron, by Giovanni Boccaccio, there is many tales but I am only going to
speak of two.The first tale, Fabricio Goes to Naples, was told by Fiammetta. Fiammetta s story
differs from the rest of the stories by, his has many dangers that occur in one night rather than
over a period of years. The second tale, Bernardo di Rossini and His Wife, was told by Dioneo.
This story was different than the others by, it was a comedy story, showing to laugh over bad things
than over virtuous deeds.
In, Fabricio Goes to Naples, a man from Perugia, by the name of Fabricio, sold horses. When
Fabricio heard that Naples sold horses at a cheap price, he set out with a purse full of money and
some merchants, hoping to receive a good deal. Sadly, he couldn t find a good deal. Even to show
he meant business, he foolishly opened his purse to display all of his money. A sicilian lady saw
how much money he had and thought, Who would make better use of that money than me?
The sicilian lady was with an older sicilian woman, whom knew Fabricio. When the older woman
saw Fabricio she greeted him affectionately. Fabricio recognized the woman for she had lived
with Fabricio s father. When the two ladies got back home, the younger lady carefully questioned
the older one about Fabricio, in order to find a way to get all of his money. By the time the lady
felt she was informed well enough, she knew nearly everything about him, including his family. The
younger lady then started to play

The Plight of Canada’s Fitness
Obesity levels in Canada have tripled over the last 30 years, according to Statistics Canada.
Moreover, a recent study by the University of Manitoba by Dr. Henry Janzen has suggested that
90% of Canada s adolescents are physically inactive. Even though, Manitoba is the only province in
Canada in which physical educationcredits between grades 9 to grade 12 are required for
graduation, the program is facing several issues from the large class size, limited space, and
specialist versus generalist teachers issue. Thus, physical education programs needs to be enforced
and should be mandatory nationwide. Incontrovertible, physical education programs are getting

Thus, if the child s experience was not perfect then that may lead to a negative impact or image
in this child, which might lead him to quite that specific sport again. Nonetheless, a new research
by the Canadian institute of health research in British Columbia discovered that increasing the
gymnasium class frequency, or soft drinks consumption would not reduce or affect the body
mass weight (BMI) in youth. Then, the child s diet and food preference creates all the difference.
However, teenagers and youth develop food preferences are based on the advertising they see
which, unfortunately, aim for the high calorie and sugar laden drinks and snacks. I still cannot
remember a time in my semester long physical education when I was taught to choose a healthy
diet, rather the 110 hour class focused on taking action in the gymnasium and ensuring that a
minimum of 55 hours of out of school activity are logged by the end of the course. So the key
component here is the relationship between the teacher and the student. In other words, if the
teacher took the time to alter his program to adapt to the present day student, then the program will
be more effective and it will establish more interests. Surprisingly, Canadian kids and youth are
ranked the fourth globally in obesity levels; we are almost beating the United States not in the
positive way but in the negative one, good job Canada! This however reveals certain connections to

Doolittle And Pygmalion
A character s ego can be greatly affected by his or her class consciousness. Mrs. Costello from
Henry James Daisy Miller and Mr. Doolittle from Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion are comparable
with their disdain for middle class. Both Mrs. Costello and Mr. Doolittle do not belong to the
middle class; therefore, their position for observation differs. Belonging to the highest circle of the
society, Mrs. Costello s scorn results from her arrogant sense of superiority. She denunciates the
middle classfor its commonness and the lack of formality for social rules and regulations. On the
contrary, Mr. Doolittle, as a dustman and someone nearer to the lowest class of the society,
criticizes the middle class for its empty formality and morality. He condemns the middle class for
trying to have more decorum than it can afford. Although one views that the middle class... Show

Doolittle s class escalation also adds depth to the overall story of Pygmalion. Higgins lessons and
Eliza s change in English pronunciation can only work when the society is unable to differentiate
and identify Eliza s class without her speech style. This condition, unlike Daisy Miller, suggests a
much loose guidelines for class and social perception on them. It does not completely deny the
existence of different social classes, but it criticizes the class for lacking core characteristic.
Therefore, Mr. Doolittle s rather abrupt change of class supports the story s context of a more
flexible type of society. In such society, Eliza can be identified as a duchess with her beautiful
dress, manner, and pronunciation. Also, in Pygmalion, higher class does not necessarily ensure a
respectable, desirable characteristic. Freddy and Clara are of the higher class but are not described
with desirable features. Also, with eloquence in speech, a dustman can be moved to the middle
class without much difficulty. Therefore, the individual s ability to acquire the qualities of the class
is more important in

Dangerous Liaisons By Pierre Ambroise Laclos
It is true that in the old times women did not have equal rights as men. Men had more social and
political freedom comparing to women, and the system was organized on men. It took a really
long time for women to gain at least some equality. In the book Dangerous Liaisons by Pierre
Ambroise Laclos there are many examples of women having much less rights comparing to men
in the 18th century. Back then, women simply couldn t do what men could simply because they
were women and they weren t considered as powerful as men were. Women had to do more
things in order for them to do the same things as men. For example, if women wanted to have an
affair it had to be kept secret and no one was supposed to find out about it, because if someone did

So the author can also hide Cecile s true feeling because she doesn t want everyone to know that
she was raped. This would make her life in the future miserable, because none of the men would
want to marry her, since back then men wanted to have pure wives. Another part of this
argument is that Valmont said that since he had the key to Cecile s room, people would believe
him rather then her. Cecile states that in the letter to Madame de Merteuil: ...he was careful to
tell me that, if anyone came, he would know how to put all the blame on me; and, indeed, it was
very easy, because of the key. (letter 97, page 148). That could be true the people would believe
Valmont rather than Cecile because of the key, but Cecile could have also brought up that she
gave him the key because she wanted him to bring the letters from Danceny, since Cecile s
mother already knew that Cecile was writing to Danceny before. This could have saved her from
the rape from Valmont. But because she didn t not do that, I do not believe that the scene with
Valmont seduction of Cecile, could be considered as rape. This can also be showed how women
had much less rights because people were more likely believe Valmont rather than Cecile if
something was to come up about that seduction. Cecile wasn t able to share it with anyone
except for Madame de Merteuil because she knew she basically had no rights and her life would
be over. On the other hand Valmont was happy to share that he had an affair with Cecile because it
was an accomplishment for him, even though it was not as big as his usual

Pest Analysis
INTRODUCTION
This chapter identifies the main external influences on the UK market for private security and fire
protection, using the four headings of a PEST analysis: political, economic, social and technological.
Where such influences have more than one dimension, they are considered under the heading that
is considered to be the most relevant.
POLITICAL FACTORS
The Terrorist Threat
Precautions against terrorist attacks have been stepped up since the events of 11th September 2001,
and there is strong demand for security services and equipment in the public sector. The UK, and
especially London, has been on a high level of alert since the war in Iraq. Some of the UK s export

The concept of Neighbourhood Wardens has been judged successful by the Office of the Deputy
Prime Minister
Neighbourhood Renewal Unit, which is helping to finance some of the schemes between 2000 and
2005.
Neighbourhood Wardens provide a uniformed, semi official presence in residential areas, with the
aim of improving the local quality of life. They can provide community safety and assist with
environmental improvements and housing management. Street Wardens are similar to
Neighbourhood
Wardens, but they have a greater emphasis on environmental problems, such as litter, graffiti and
dog fouling. Their role is also to deter anti social behaviour, to reduce the fear of crime and to
foster social inclusion.
Minimum Wage and Working Time Legislation
The National Minimum Wage was introduced in April 1999, and a European
Directive on working hours and holidays came into force in October 1998.
The UK was able to introduce a voluntary opt out of the 48 hour week, but the UK regulations are
to be tightened and opinions seem to be divided as to whether this is to the long term benefit or
detriment of the guarding sector.
Outsourcing of Police and Public Sector Security Work
A growing proportion of police and public sector security work is being outsourced to private
security firms, and this `civilianisation is expected to continue. Private firms already have a well
established role in the operation of private prisons, the monitoring of tagged

The Use Of Personal Anecdotes On The Audience And It
It is within the human nature to be interested in other people s experiences. Whether it be with
reality shows or blog posts, people like to hear different incidents through diverse perspectives.
Writers take advantage of this curiosity and try to tie experiences into their works. Many times
writers will include experiences of their own in order to convince their audience of their
perspective on a subject. These personal experiences are done in order to make an impact on the
audience and it is written in a certain way to make it the most efficient for the readers. The use of
personal anecdotes is effective when details are described to the point where readers can create
their own opinions, when they are used as the main topic against an argumentas opposed to being an
unimportant detail, and when it has the ability to appeal to the audience s emotion.
Details within the anecdote are best described to the point where the audience can draw their own
conclusions on what is happening. Description is crucial in order to fully understand what is
going on. In the case of Blue Collar Brilliance , written by Mike Rose, the author puts in a lot of
time to adequately describe what the significance of his experiences mean and how they
contribute to the story. Fry four on two, my mother would say as she clipped a check onto the
metal wheel. Her tables were deuces, four tops, or six tops according to their size... (Rose 262).

Essay On American Refugees
The United States has been a refuge for many people from other countries since the early 1900 s.
Many Americans do not know the difference between a refugee, an asylum seeker, and an
immigrant. Over the years, different associations, agencies, official acts and laws have come into
existence to limit who can be awarded the title of refugee. Rules and regulations have become the
most confusing part of coming to the United Statesif a person is seeking refuge. This paper will
explore the history of the American refugee and the laws, regulations, and associations that aide or
hinder their status.
What is the Difference between a Refugee, and Asylum Seeker, and an Immigrant?
In the United States, a refugee is defined as a person that is outside of the United States and is
seeking refuge from persecution based on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, social group or
political opinion. Refugees can be excluded from being awarded refugee status for polygamy,
health related issues, moral and criminal and security grounds. They could also be excluded for
misrepresentation of facts on visa applications, smuggling and previous deportations. A person

Things They Carried Ethnography
In any war story, but especially a true one, it s difficult to separate what happened from what
seemed to happen.
Tim O Brien, The Things They Carried It is not only war stories that create confusion, both for their
writers, and their readers, about the nature of the truth they tell. Is the truth in a true story what the
writer experienced, or the truth of what really happened? If the story is about other people, is the
truth what the writer sees them do, or what they think they are doing? If the writer does not know
the whole truth, does the story become false?
All these questions become even more pertinent if posed about ethnographies. An ethnography is,
by nature, meant to be a description of a people (the dictionary ... Show more content on

Ethnography has undergone a process of drastic evolution (or, some might say, oscillation) in
the century or so that it has existed as an anthropological tool. Many aspects of ethnography
have changed between two extremes that I will term traditional ethnography and postmodern
ethnography. Everything from the declared goal of the anthropologist to the approach to
possible objectivity or subjectivity of the anthropologist s writing, from views on the concept of
culture to the ethnography s intended audience, even to choice of topic to explore, has changed.
I will explore these differences using Coming of Age in Samoa by Margaret Mead as an
example of traditional ethnography, and Poetics of Military Occupation by Smadar Lavie as an
example of postmodern ethnography. Veiled Sentiments by Lila Abu Lughod will serve as
something of a mix, poised between the two extremes. I must first, however, explain my choice
of postmodern as a label for the kind of ethnography that Smadar Lavie produced in 1990 (based
on fieldwork done throughout the 70 s). The aspect of postmodernism that I embrace in
characterizing Poetics of Military Occupation as postmodern is postmodernism s abandonment of
the concept of an absolute truth. The definition of postmodernism offered by Josh McDowell and
Bob Hostetler as a worldview characterized by the belief that truth doesn t exist in any objective
sense but is created rather than discovered serves well to illustrate the ways

Trials and Tribulations of the Muslim Youth Today The Youth of Islam today are dwelling in a
crisis and it is a shame to say that most of them know not of what they are in engrossed in. Others
out of ignorance disobey the commandments of Allah (SWT) and the guidance of the Prophet,
Muhammad (SAW), thus bringing upon them the wrath and anger of Allah (SWT). The lack of
authentic knowledge and taqwa (fearing and being cautiously aware of Allah) allows the shaytaan
to throw in doubts and arrogance into the hearts of the young Muslims. This leads them directly
towards the wrong path and straight to the fire. Therefore without knowledge and a firm foundation
of taqwa the young Muslim well never see the light and the beauty of the religion they are
obligated to embrace. The lack of knowledge and taqwa also opens the doors to many major
issues such as identity crisis, venom of the media, bad companionship, love and attachment to the
dunya, and lack of confidence. Although there may be more reasons to the downfall of the youth
these few that were mentioned are the main issues that the youth must combat because they are
things you deal with on a day to day basis. Time is running and day after day we are losing our
brothers and sisters to these issues. It is a matter of time before we completely lose them and they
become so engulfed in disobedience that they begin to join forces with those who are cursed by

popular novel incorporated into many businesses to assist in training employees. Fred Nickols

with change to be warranted, whereas Nickos thinks the book is a get on board or else message.

2009 study of American parents, 78 percent of parents admitted to lying to their children. Another
study, executed by Gail Heyman of the University of California San Diego and her colleagues,
found that 84 percent of the 114 American parents they chose admitted to telling their children lies
to promote behavioral obedience (Smith Is It Okay for Parents to Lie to Their Kids? China s
Parents Say Yes 2013). These behavioral lies, along with tradition, bring about fictional characters
to convince the children that if they comply, they will be rewarded; for example, children must
behave year round or Santa will not deliver presents Christmas Eve night, but coal in stockings.
Parents need to stop feeding these ridiculous lies about fictional characters existing to their children.

Miss Brill Essay
In the short story, Miss Brill by Katherine Mansfield, is a story about a day in the life of Miss Brill.
Miss Brill has a huge imagination and lets her mind wander far from reality. The story reveals
how Miss Brill sees herself through her own eyes, a glamorous actress who likes to think of
herself as needed. Then it continues to reveal how Miss Brill is actually seen in reality through
everyone else s eyes, a shy, lonely, old lady that is infact not needed at all. The differences from
Miss Brill s actual life and her life she imagines is very different. Every Sunday Miss Brill enjoys
her visits to the park, where she observes all that goes on around her (Peltier 17). Miss Brill sits
in her special seat and watches the band play while observing everyone who walks by. After

Financial Crisis And Its Effects On Economic Growth
The late half of 1997 and the early parts of 1998 presented the world with one of the world s most
famous financial crises. This financial crisis proved to be detrimental mainly to the south eastern
Asian area, including South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia. The
aforementioned south eastern states recorded astounding economic growth in the preceding decade.
The downfall of the economy caused a domino effect in the local markets and currency markets of
each country. The nations leaders, as a result, had to request assistance from the IMF. Politics were
important in creating the financial boom, but they were also guilty of the subsequent consequences.
Similar to a number of financial crises in the past, the Asian financial crisiscame to be as a result of
unexpected economic growth. The countries were all under the influence of a number of different
economic criteria, such as cheap yet fairly well educated labour, lowered barriers to trade, and
economies based heavily on exports. Even Malaysiaenjoyed bountiful foreign direct investment.
All of these elements came together to make Asia dominant force in exports. This was proven by
the fact that none of the countries affected by the crisis experienced of export growth lower than
12% between 1990 and 1996. Not only did these countries experience rapid growth in exports, the
nature of the exports where product types are concerned also changed. The products evolved from

Variance Is A Statistical Method Used For Test Differences...
Analysis of variance is a statistical method used to test differences between two or more means.
ANOVA is used to test general rather than specific differences among means. An ANOVA
conducted on a design in which there is only one factor is called a one way ANOVA. The One
Way ANOVA is considered an omnibus test because it indicates whether or not there are any
significant differences in the means between any of the groups. However, it does not indicate
which mean are different. The One way ANOVA compares the means of the samples or groups to
make inferences about the population means. The one way ANOVA, two kinds of variables:
independent and dependent. Also, the one way ANOVA is used to determine whether there are any
statistically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The One Way ANOVA can compare the means of three or more groups. Furthermore, by running
additional t tests an increase 5% error increases with every t test ran. An ANOVA, on the other hand,
has a 5% error, that remains trough the duration of the test. Therefore, if one is running many
controls the type I error remains at 5% and the researcher can be more confident that any
statistically significant result you find is not just running lots of tests.
In a one way ANOVA, the null hypothesis tested by rather the population means are equal, or that
each of the group means is equal. If the null hypothesis is rejected, then it can be concluded that at
least one of the population means is different from at least one other population mean. The
alternative hypothesis, however, looks to see that at least two of the group means are significantly
different. The assumption of independence is obtained if the observations are random and
independent if they are to be representative of the populations and in no way related or dependent
on another. The distributions of the populations from which the samples are selected are normal;
This is commonly referred as the assumption of normality. The variances of the distributions in the
populations are equal. This is often referred as the assumption of homogeneity of variance.

Design and Culture Abstract: Uses Design in a different way; but one must add that a universal
language is being constructed daily. design is understood here as a phenomenon which affects
everybody. design is characterized by a dual alliance with both mass production and mass
consumption and that these two phenomena have determined nearly all its manifestations .Industry
unconsciously evolved its own aesthetic, and this aesthetic was from the beginning one which
intelligent designers, whatever their background, tried to obey .

Like Janus, design looks in tow directions at the same time: as a silent quality of all mass
produced goods it plays a generally unacknowledged but vital role in all our lives; as a named
concept within the mass media, it is, however, much more visible and generally recognized. In this
latter guise design becomes an extension of marketing and advertising. The designer jeans
phenomenon, which persuades us to buy a product because it has been designed, is, culturally
speaking, totally distinct from the activity of the anonymous designers within industry who
resolve the problems of cost, appearance and use in consumer products. The way in which design
as an adjunct of marketing has grown out of design as an aspect of mass production is a major
theme within the story of modem design and the focus of this book. It is a change which directly
mirrors the way in which the model of mass production industry, as presented by Henry Ford, which
dominated American ideas about industrial organization in the early twentieth century, has been
challenged by an alternative model which stresses batch production, a smaller scale of operations

To allocate leasing permits the Secretary of the Interior must first create a Resource Management

the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA), the process of creating an RMP often requires
interdisciplinary cooperation in order to piece together a realistic Environmental Impact

The Federal Surface Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 (FSCRA) attempted to shift some of the
responsibility for environmental consequences to the private contractors who rely on mining for
privatized profit (Menzel 1981 et al. Chan 2017). Notably, the FSCRA did not attempt to mitigate
environmental degradation derived from oil drilling and hydraulic fracturing. Whereas, oil drilling
and hydraulic fracturing tend to fall underlies stringent regulations, but NEPA still applies to these
processes. The consequences of oil drilling and hydraulic fracturing include deforestation,
ecosystem destruction, chemical contamination of land and water, long term harm to animal
populations (particularly migratory birds and marine mammals) (O Rourke 2003, 594). In addition,
hydraulic fracturing require an extractive fluid which often entails the usage of chemicals that are
either carcinogenic or associated with numerous health problems affecting the eyes, skin, lungs,
intestines, liver, brain, and nervous system (Kargbo 2010, 5681). For example, in New York it has
been confirmed that formaldehyde, pesticides, acids, and numerous other hazardous materials have
been found in hydrofracture fluids (Kargbo 2010, 5681). The extraction of coal, oil, and natural gas
degrades the environment and has the most detrimental impacts locally.

John Cage was born in 1912 in Los Angeles. His father was an inventor, and his mother worked as
a journalist for the LA Times. Cage was first introduced to the piano musicof the 19th century by
his aunt; he began taking piano lessons in fourth grade. By the time he graduated from high
school, he was convinced that he wanted to be a writer, and in 1928 Cage became a theology

beneficial for his future writings than studying at school was. He spent a couple years in Europe,
studying various forms of art. In 1931 he came back to California, and started earning money by
teaching private lessons on contemporary art.
In 1933 began to focus on music rather than on visual art, and moved to New York, and later to
California (UCLA), to study with Schoenberg. In Cage s autobiography, he mentions:
When I asked Schoenberg to teach me, he said, You probably can t afford my price. I said, Don t
mention it; I don t have any money. He said, Will you devote your life to music? This time I said
Yes. He said he would teach me free of charge. I gave up painting and concentrated on music.

Why Organisations Need to Change
Why organisations need to change
Change management is relevant as though the research finds that change is taking place at an ever
increasing pace, the evidence suggests that most change initiatives fail. For example, recent CIPD
research suggested that less than 60% of re organisations met their stated objectives which are
usually bottom line improvement. This is consistent with other published research.
The impact of failures to introduce effective change can also be high: loss of market position,
removal of senior management, loss of stakeholder credibility, loss of key employees.
Finally, one organisational response to change is that organisational forms are themselves evolving.
Therefore, the change management response will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Management need to be aware of these different criteria to ensure they respond appropriately.
Suggested reasons for resistance include: loss of control, shock of new, uncertainty, inconvenience,
threat to status, competence fears. It is important to try to diagnose the cause of employee
resistance as this will help determine the focus of effort in trying to reduce/remove the issue.
What can be done to make change management more effective?
From the issues raised in the section above, it can be seen that change is complex and there is not
a single solution. However, a number of key areas of focus emerge.
Effective leadership is a key enabler as it provides the vision and the rationale for change.
Different styles of leadership have been identified, for example coercive, directive, consultative
and collaborative. These different styles may each be appropriate depending on the type and scale
of change being undertaken. For example, when there is a large scale organisation wide change a
directive style has been identified as most effective.
Appropriate and timely training is frequently identified as key to effective change. Examples of
training requirements might include:
* Project and programme management skills to ensure change initiatives are completed both on
time and to budget.

Thesis On Psoriasis
Abstract:
Psoriasis is a disease of chronic systemic inflammation that involves not only the skin, but also
internal organs. The frequency of Non alcoholic fatty liver disease was found to be significantly
greater in psoriasis patients with increased risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. A
large number of immunes is found in Psoriatic skin and this immune produce chemokine s,

incident rate of psoriasis, and hip circumference and waist to hip ratio were all associated with a
higher risk of incident psoriasis. 37 The psoriasis that are associated with metabolic syndrome and
increase risk of cardiovascular disease are non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and chronic
plague. . NAFLD is the hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome, with its key component
being visceral obesity. 38 The prevalence of NAFLD is 10 24% of the general population
worldwide, increasing to 57.5 74% in obese individuals. The mortality was increased in patients
with NAFLD compared with the general population and in the National Health and Nutrition

mortality and liver related mortality compared with individuals without liver disease. 39 While in
most patients, NAFLD does not progress beyond simple steatosis, it may progress to Non
Alcoholic Steato Hepatitis (NASH). The prevalence of NASH also correlates with obesity, with
waist to hip ratio and abdominal obesity reported to be predictors of NASH. Diagnosing patients
with NAFLD and identifying those with NASH is challenging, as they are generally asymptomatic.

To Investigate the Rate of Reaction Between Calcium...
Aim: To investigate the rate of reaction between Calcium Carbonate and Hydrochloric Acid.
Just from looking at the aim of the investigation I already know that a salt would be formed
because a carbonate with an acid forms a salt. In this investigation the substance that is formed is
Calcium Chloride, Water and Carbon Dioxide. The symbol equation for this is:
CaCo3 #61664; Ca2+ + Co32
Hcl #61664; H+ + Cl
Add these all together to get
CaCO3(s) + 2H+(aq) Ca++(aq) + H2O + CO2(g)
The rate of reaction is just the speed at which the substances on the left side of equation turn into
the substances on the right side. The way we measured the rate of reaction today was measuring

Theme Of Pullman In Northern Lights
In Addition, Pullman s hate to the Church. Pullman always attacks churches and priesthoods, the
trouble is that all too often in human history, churches and priesthoods have set themselves up to
rule people s lives in the name of some invisible god (and they re all invisible, because they don t
exist) and done terrible damage. In the name of their god, they have burned, hanged, tortured,
maimed, robbed, violated, and enslaved millions of their fellow creatures, and done so with the
happy conviction that they were doing the will of god, and they would go to Heaven for it. That
is the religion I hate, and I m happy to knowns as its enemy . Pullman make the reader ask
magnificent questions, like questions about universe and how the universe was made, makes the
Catholic Church accused Pullman s writings as anti Christian and accused him of promoting a

relationships within a familyunit. Relationships can be enmeshed, detached, or disengaged; these
types of relationships are unhealthy. The family system can be open and homeostatic; these kinds
of relationship are healthy. We are all born into different families with different situations.
Sometimes life can be hard, with all of its facets and difficulties, and ups and downs. Looking at

Facebook Case Analysis
Facebook (FB) has been dominating the social network industry since its birth in 2004. It was one
of the first social platforms that aimed to connect people all over the world together. FB has been
successful in establishing its competitive advantage relying in its network effect and its ability to
catch up with the competition.
As depicted on Figure II, FB has strength points that include: its long history and its access to
global markets over a short period of time, that enabled it to lock in a wide base of users that find
it too costly to switch to other networks that don t provide a strong motivation for switching
especially that FB has a strong ability for imitation and integration that led to a growing advertising
revenue from different advertisers that find FB to be a great source of data that they can use for
segmentation and targeting. FB weakness points are: its high dependency on advertising revenue,
its high dependency on games applications revenue and concentration of ownership in the hands
of its founder, Mr. Zuckerberg, that seems to be so innovative and successful. However, it is a
reason why long term investors may worry because there is no guarantee of the continuous of the

i.This is a devil with pointy horns and a trident in a full body red suit who tries to convince you to
do wrong. ii. An example of this is Kronk from The Emperor s New Groove. iii. They miss the fact
that the devil can hurt you, maybe not physically but spiritually.
b.Another view is of a person who rules hell and can do no harm to us up on Earth.
i.These people miss the fact that the devil is on Earth trying to sway God s people toward our sinful
nature.
c.Contrary to popular views, the devil and his fellow evil angels are real threats and enemies to the
world, raging an all out war against Christians, but it is important to remember that we are not
fighting this war alone God is there fighting for us.
i.He is an enemy of man and of believers, one whom we should know, respect, and resist in faith
and in the power of the Lord Jesus. (Dickason, 115)
II.Some people do not believe in evil angels, or only view them as a miniscule threat, not an actual,
harmful enemy.
a.The first reference to them [angels] in Scripture is after the fall.

Theme Of Revenge In Hamlet
Ojea Quintana 1
Lucas Ojea Quintana
Mr. Sather
AP English 3: Section 1
23 October 2017
The Delay of Revenge Shakespeare s Tragedy Hamlet, demonstrates how humans have to answer
one question throughout their life, To be, or not to be. This question can apply to anything and
anyone and asks if a person should act or not. The ghost is a character who rarely appears, but
offers Hamlet the significant life long question, Hamlet must answer. Throughout the play Hamlet
wonders if he should kill Claudius or not which is the basis of the question, to be or not to be.
Hamlet does not successfully answer that question and he does not act when he should, which
ends up killing him. The ghost affects the theme of revenge because he calls upon Hamlet to
avenge him and Hamlet s legacy. Although deeply sorrowed by his father s death, Hamlet did not
consider payback as an option until he meets with the ghost of his father. The ghost tells Hamlet
King Claudius, his own brother, murdered him. Then the ghost tells Hamlet to revenge his foul and
most unnatural murder? (I.v.25). Although murder was an acceptable form of revenge in Hamlet s
time he is uncertain about killing Claudius. However, upon his father s command, Hamlet
reluctantly swears to get revenge against Claudius. Hamlet does this not because he wants to, but
because his father makes it clear that it is his duty as a son, and so Hamlet should not disappoint
his perfect father. Hamlet promises to prove his love and duty by killing Claudius.
Ojea Quintana 2 The idea of revenge is illustrated in many ways throughout the play. The
appearance of the ghost introduces appearance versus reality. When Claudius is at prayer, Hamlet
had a perfect opportunity to kill him but he did not want revenge for just punishment in his life, he
wanted revenge for punishment for eternity. Hamlet thinks that killing Claudius in his state of
purity do this same villain send /To heaven. /Why, this is hire and salary, not revenge! (III.iii.76)
will make Claudius go to heaven which is much more than he deserves. Yet another change I m
Hamlet s character, changing from not even thinking about killing Claudius at the start of the play
too making sure

Essay On Government Branches
I believe that having the government split into 3 branches is a good idea because none of them
could over rule over the others. If it wasn t like that just imagine all the possible things that can
occur. Another reason for them to be split up is so that they don t get overwhelmed with
everything that they have to do. So that s one of the main reasons we have our government split
into 3 different branches. Checks and balances is a really good thing to help our system because
it doesn t allow our government branches to be more powerful then the other. All branches have
huge roles towards our government but i think this one has the most important role because it has
the president and all the people that pretty much run our country. The Executive branch carries out
and enforces the laws. Unlike the Judicial branch they put a to the laws while the Executive
branch enforce the laws. The Executive branch contains the president, vice president and the
cabinet. The head of the Executive branch is the president because he s the commander of armed
forces and runs the miltary and he helps carry out laws that are approved. The cabinets role in the
Executive branch is to help carry out laws that are created. The vice president is a back up towards
our current president they both have the same... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The House Of Represntives and the Senate are pretty much the whole Legislative branch. The
Legislative branch main purpose is to make new laws and pass them out. They can t just make
laws and pass them. It has to go through a process, they all say what they think about the law and
if they all some what agree they are passed. Also something unique about the about the Legislative
branch is that the number of reprenstives each state gets is from thats states poplulation. Which is
kinda crazy because that means all states will have a different amount of people some will have

Was Longfellow Summary
For Longfellow an abolitionist the decision of the united states and the impending war over
slavery was as dangerous and threatening to america as the british troops were in 1775. said by
Franklin Johnson in the article How Accurate Was Longfellow s Poem? In the article that speaks
the truth states many different pieces of accurate information. In the correct article called How
Accurate Was Longfellow s Poem , states that that Henry Longfellow s information was
incorrect because he is not interested in the conversation or the topic that he is walking or
writing about and so therefore is giving incorrect information. As stated in Longfellow s poem
he is giving a lot of INCORRECT information but getting away with it by stating information that
is making his words seem believable by giving false information and stating different
information and all of the things that are given with false information. The poem written by
Henry Wadsworth was very incorrect because there were 3 different people who were involved
in Paul Revere s journey and in the poem only 1 person is mentioned, he gave incorrect
information about the lanterns and how it was used, and in the poem he gives us a lot of
information that is inaccurate and does not give us the correct ending as in the article about the
poem it gives a perspective for Paul Revere and gives us somewhat of an ending that will tell us
the truth. There are three different articles and they are all about Paul Revere and based all

Common Insecticides Behavior Problems
The article I choose was Common Insecticides May Be Linked to Kids Behavior Problems by
Lindsey Konkel and Environmental Health News and the reason why I choose this article because I
find the human brain interesting and I like learning about different chemicals and the effects that
chemicals can have on the brain. One question that the article did not answer was that, after saying
that more research is still needed, they did not say how they were going to do further research. The
author s intent on writing this article to inform people that pesticides can still be harmful to
children even after organophosphate, a former chemical in pest killers, was removed and there are
still other chemicals that can cause threats to children developmental growth.... Show more content

The Drug Approval Process Essay
The drug approval process is a complicated labyrinth that sometimes seems impossible to navigate.
There are guidelines, protocols, procedures and standards that each person in the process are
expected to follow. This includes the doctors, principle investigators, researchers, pharmaceutical
companies, the regulatory bodies and yes, the patients. The patients are by far the most important
aspect of a clinical trialand obtaining drug approval. Without the willing volunteers in clinical trials
there would not be treatments and cures for many diseases today. There are a lot of factors that go
into getting a new medication to the open market, including many phases of clinical research. The
roles of the FDA, various research laboratories and the pharmaceutical companies all play a pivotal
role in the time that it takes to obtain drug approval. There are many obstacles associated with each
step including funding and how that impacts the consumer costs.
Our country began with no limitations on goods and quickly progressed to enforcing accurate
labeling and mandatory testing. This has advanced to enforcing challenging scientific standards,
which tend to be somewhat controversial today. The years between 1938 and 1951 are pegged
The birth of the modern pharmaceutical trade: the Revolution in medicine according to Philip
Hilts (2003). The industry went from just a few chemical companies to an explosive initiative to

Walkalong Collides
Did you know that walkalong gliders can stay in the air as long as you want? This happens
because of wind constantly pushing wind against the glider, therefore keeping the glider in the
air. According to recent experience with gliders, the hypothesis is going to be which glider is
faster, and which one stays up longer, and if the hypothesis is correct then the seagull glider will
be the best. If the conditions are not perfect, then this will affect the project majorly. To
understand more about walkalong gliders you must know the science behind gliders, the
condition the paper must be in, and also possible weather that will affect the project. Do you
know what it takes to make walkalong gliders fly? Walkalong gliders are very fun to use, and
one of the things walkalong gliders need, is aerodynamics, Aerodynamics is the properties of a
solid object the manner in which air flows around it, but the good thing about aerodynamics, is
that it substitutes for engines Aerodynamics is for those who cannot manufacture good engines
(Enzo Ferrari). Another thing that walkalong gliders need to fly is wind resistance, and wind
resistance is where the airplane is able to fly without being affected by wind. Another thing that

if it is used it is used outside. The quality of the paper has to be as close to perfect paper as

Social And Economic Policy Decisions Impact Income Equality
Social and economic policy decisions impact income equality, which has an effect on the health
of Canadians. Those with lower incomes are directly affected while income inequality affects
the health of all Canadians through weakening of social structure (Raphael, 2002). Contrary to
reports of rising net worth, a new report has been released by an Ottawa based think tank to show
Canada s inequality problem. The top 10 percent of Canadians have seen their net worth grow by
42% since 2005 to 2.1 million in 2012. However, the bottom 10 percent saw their net worth shrink
by 150 percent (Flavelle, 2014). With this new report, it challenges the idea that suggests Canadians
are getting wealthier laterally (Flavelle, 2014). This paper will examine... Show more content on

For example, the reduction of deaths from infectious diseases such as influenza, diphtheria and
typhoid were due to improvements in general living conditions rather than medical cures (Raphael,

disease and cancer.
Health and Poverty
Vulnerable populations including immigrants, Aboriginal peoples, single parent families and the
elderly make up a growing percentage of the lower extreme of the socioeconomic scale (Turnbull,
J. Podymow T, 2002). While we are quick to consider the costs of aiding the poor, we rarely
consider the costs that poverty and income inequality inflict on our society. To achieve improved
health, it is critical to improve income security through good jobs, income supports and fairer taxes
(Barnes et al., 2013).
There are two broad strategies that focus on alleviating the effects of poverty on health: 1) directly
reducing poverty and socio economic inequality 2) intervening in pathways connecting poverty and
health. These interventions have been identified as upstream and downstream. Downstream
policies refer to those that have an explicit health purpose and tend to be targeted at those that are
already suffering from increased health risk, while upstream refers to the wider influences on health
inequalities such as income distribution, education and housing. While these approaches fall

Russia Living Conditions
In Russia, there were some prosperous peasant farmers called kulaks, but the living and working
conditions for most peasants were dreadful. The Famine and starvation were common and in some
regions. Much of Russia land was unsuitable for farming. As a result, the land was short in supply
because, by the early 1900s, the population was growing rapidly. The peasants living conditions
contrasted sharply with those of the aristocracy, who had vast estates, town and country houses and
luxurious lifestyles. The biggest problems that Russiafaced is that the Tsar did not do delegate day
to day task and he also managed his officials poorly.

Research Paper on Mikhail Gorbachev
Mikhail Gorbachev has gained adequate fame because he was the last and the first founding
president of the USSR republic. As a leader, he acted in a new era of history without the need for
past theoretical support. As the first president of USSR, Gorbachev transformed the Soviet Union
from socialism to another political regime. He transitioned the economy of USSR from a planned
centralized economic system towards a free market economy leading to increased competitive trade.
In the history of the Soviet Union, no political leader had dealt with such turmoil. The country was
headed towards an uncertain future. Studies indicate that Gorbachev was essential in both domestic
and global affairs (Gorbachev, 19b).
People across the world have continued to debate and argue about the controversies surrounding
his achievements and roles. In USSR, the populations blamed Gorbachev the economic misery and
collapse of the Soviet Union in the course of adapting to the new free market economy. Therefore,
most populations of the Soviet Union believe that Gorbachev introduced negative governance in
USSR. At the same time, he has been applauded for his role in leading the collapse of the Berlin
Wall, bringing the cold war to a halt and German unification. In my view, Gorbachev has made
significant contributions towards the end war between the west and the east more than any leader

Judicial System In Texas
In the nineteen thirties, the people of Missouri would pick judges and eventually politicians
realized they could buy judges. They would buy votes especially an American politician Tom
Pendergast, would try to pack the court with those who agreed with his political ideas. Until
merit selection, the lawyers went against it and wanted a better way for judicial selection. Both
Democrats and Republicans worked together and campaigned without financial interest. Leading
to the Missouri plan where the judge is now chosen by merit and qualifications. In the Missouri
Plan, seven people are on this commission. Three citizens appointed by the governor, three
lawyers elected by lawyers of a different part of the state and the chief justice. Lawyers go
through the judicial appellate commission and the judicial appellate commission picks three. After
this, the governor picks one to become the judge. After a year serving then a ballot asks voters of
Missouri if the judge should be kept in office or not.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1. The commission nominates the qualified individuals. 2. The governor appoints a nominee to a
judicial position. 3 Retention election follows the initial term. A benefit of the Missouri Plan is
that it is based on qualification competition rather than political affiliation competition and is
now copied in thirty states. In Texas, judges are elected usually by political party affiliation.
Usually Republicans are chosen in Texas with the straight ticket vote. The problem is that were
taking away from the different qualifications that people have by simply voting politically. I
prefer the Missouri plan over electing judges just by politics. It just seems like a better way to
pick judges. I think if political affiliation was removed the judges would be best chosen by their
history or quality as any other job usually

The process of discovery can be hidden and unexpected, having the potential to expand one s
understanding of the world around them and enhance their desire to reconsider what is known. This
is evident in the play, The Tempest by William Shakespeare, composed during the renaissance and
humanism era, and the poem, This Lime Tree Bower my Prison by Samuel Coleridge, written
during the romanticism era. Both these texts explore similar aspects whereby the protagonists is
forced into a vulnerable position and the barrier of their conflicted minds obstructs them from
forming new perceptions. The Tempestaccentuates the importance of integrating worlds to develop
positive interactions and overcome conflicts. Similarly, Coleridge s poem highlights... Show more

  • 2. Swing Band History Swing can be traced back to a style called Dixieland jazz which was created by African American musicians in the later 1920 s in New Orleans. It became the most popular and a successful kind of music during the 1930 s, being played by band leaders such as Duke Ellington, Jimmie Lunceford, Bennie Moten, Cab Calloway and Fletcher Henderson. The instruments found in a swing band are very similar to the instruments found in a jazz band. Both contain a brass section that have trumpet and trombone, a rhythm section with bass, piano and drums and a wind section with saxophone and clarinet. But the swing band very occasionally used the string section unlike jazz bands. Swing music is played with a medium tempo. A unique characteristic of swing is that the drums are the only fully rhythmical instrument. Fundamentally swing is orchestral and largely influenced by European music. It is also widely recognised for having contributed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was seen as morally and socially unacceptable. Because it has roots in African American culture, the white majority dismissed it as its improvisation, racy lyrics, lack of strings and fast tempo were deemed as cultural degradation. But this changed when the musician Benny Goodman; a well known and well liked white bandleader adopted the style and playing it in the Palomar Ballroom in 1935. After this it became quickly popular among the younger patrons and became the hot style of music all over the country. After this from 1935 1946 became known as the swing era as swing became extremely popular in America. With a wider acceptance of swing music, large mainstream bands began to incorporate the style into their repertoires. Musicians required more detailed and organised compositions and notation. Because of this bandleaders had to spend more time on their arrangements to avoid the chaos of multiple musicians improvising at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Mobile Cloud Computing And Technology Abstract As advances in technology occur, mobile cloud computing is able to overcome the issue of resource poverty that occurs in mobile devices. Manufacturers now look at cloud computing as an asset because they can run their products better. The number of businesses and individuals that are investing in cloud computing services is anticipated to grow rapidly. Rapid growth of this nature will have a large impact in the IT industry. This study shows that cloud computing, including mobile computing, is a major contribution to the expansion of output and employment within the IT sector. An improvement in performance is making mobile cloud computing a better choice for consumers. In recent years, changes in the mobile cloud computing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He thinks that manufacturers depend on their mobile devices more than past years (Columbus, 2014). For manufacturers to benefit their mobile devices and take advantage of the automated process, they need to enter in the customer s personality on purchasing products into the system. It is also beneficial to figure out why the customer is purchasing such items (Columbus, 2014). Is mobile cloud computing growing enough to increase the demand for manufacturing jobs? Should businesses use more mobile devices to generate additional manufacturing jobs, or is it as simple as having more mobile devices built for sale by those manufacturing mobile devices? Is mobile cloud computing growing fast enough to increase the demand for mobile devices to generate manufacturing jobs? Further study by Staten, Csorny, and Minnick show why advances in mobile cloud computing exists and the answer is businesses using more mobile devices as stated by Subramanian and Columbus. As a solution, more mobile devices may need to be manufactured in order to keep up with customer orders as mentioned by Columbus. Mobile cloud computing is part of the expansion that is a leading contribution to the increased growth in output and employment in the IT industry. One avenue for mobile cloud computing is that rapid growth is expected to have high in demand service in markets such as software, hardware, and IT outsourcing. The performance of mobile ... Racial Disparities Of Mass Incarceration Racial disparities in mass incarceration Introduction Mass Incarceration in the United States has been a large topic of choice because rapid growth in the prison and jail populations, the long sentences the inmates face, and the inability for some inmates to incorporate themselves back into society. Since the 1970 s the U.S. prison population quadrupled from 158 to 635 people per 100,000, causing the U.S. to gain the title of country with the highest incarceration rate. (Massoglia, Firebaugh, Warner, 2013, p. 142; Muller, 2012) As the growth of the U.S prison and jail population rapidly increased, so did the growth of the three major contributors to that population African Americans, Hispanics, and whites with African Americanand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Muller s study found that though the number of African American incarceration increased after the 1970 s, one of the causes of the rise that contributed to roughly thirty percent of the African American incarceration came about long before during the initial migration of many African Americans to the North between 1880 and 1950. The migration was related to the rise in African American incarceration in that the African Americans who migrated from the South were migrating from a comparatively low nonwhite incarceration rate to the comparatively high nonwhite incarceration rate that was in the North. Though the migration had a direct effect on the increase of incarcerations of the African American population, it did not cause a rise in the number of white incarcerations, thus causing a rise in racial disparity in prisons and jails before mass incarceration was established. An additional study that Muller conducted was related to the number of foreign whites being incarcerated or joined as a part of a state s police force and their relationship with the African Americans incarceration rate. • 6. The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio In the book, The Decameron, by Giovanni Boccaccio, there is many tales but I am only going to speak of two.The first tale, Fabricio Goes to Naples, was told by Fiammetta. Fiammetta s story differs from the rest of the stories by, his has many dangers that occur in one night rather than over a period of years. The second tale, Bernardo di Rossini and His Wife, was told by Dioneo. This story was different than the others by, it was a comedy story, showing to laugh over bad things than over virtuous deeds. In, Fabricio Goes to Naples, a man from Perugia, by the name of Fabricio, sold horses. When Fabricio heard that Naples sold horses at a cheap price, he set out with a purse full of money and some merchants, hoping to receive a good deal. Sadly, he couldn t find a good deal. Even to show he meant business, he foolishly opened his purse to display all of his money. A sicilian lady saw how much money he had and thought, Who would make better use of that money than me? The sicilian lady was with an older sicilian woman, whom knew Fabricio. When the older woman saw Fabricio she greeted him affectionately. Fabricio recognized the woman for she had lived with Fabricio s father. When the two ladies got back home, the younger lady carefully questioned the older one about Fabricio, in order to find a way to get all of his money. By the time the lady felt she was informed well enough, she knew nearly everything about him, including his family. The younger lady then started to play ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though, Manitoba is the only province in Canada in which physical educationcredits between grades 9 to grade 12 are required for graduation, the program is facing several issues from the large class size, limited space, and specialist versus generalist teachers issue. Thus, if the child s experience was not perfect then that may lead to a negative impact or image in this child, which might lead him to quite that specific sport again. Nonetheless, a new research by the Canadian institute of health research in British Columbia discovered that increasing the gymnasium class frequency, or soft drinks consumption would not reduce or affect the body mass weight (BMI) in youth. Then, the child s diet and food preference creates all the difference. However, teenagers and youth develop food preferences are based on the advertising they see which, unfortunately, aim for the high calorie and sugar laden drinks and snacks. I still cannot remember a time in my semester long physical education when I was taught to choose a healthy diet, rather the 110 hour class focused on taking action in the gymnasium and ensuring that a minimum of 55 hours of out of school activity are logged by the end of the course. So the key component here is the relationship between the teacher and the student. In other words, if the teacher took the time to alter his program to adapt to the present day student, then the program will be more effective and it will establish more interests. Surprisingly, Canadian kids and youth are ranked the fourth globally in obesity levels; we are almost beating the United States not in the positive way but in the negative one, good job Canada! • 8. Doolittle And Pygmalion A character s ego can be greatly affected by his or her class consciousness. Mrs. Costello from Henry James Daisy Miller and Mr. Doolittle from Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion are comparable with their disdain for middle class. Both Mrs. Costello and Mr. Doolittle do not belong to the middle class; therefore, their position for observation differs. Belonging to the highest circle of the society, Mrs. Costello s scorn results from her arrogant sense of superiority. She denunciates the middle classfor its commonness and the lack of formality for social rules and regulations. On the contrary, Mr. Doolittle, as a dustman and someone nearer to the lowest class of the society, criticizes the middle class for its empty formality and morality. He condemns the middle class for trying to have more decorum than it can afford. Although one views that the middle class... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Doolittle s class escalation also adds depth to the overall story of Pygmalion. Higgins lessons and Eliza s change in English pronunciation can only work when the society is unable to differentiate and identify Eliza s class without her speech style. This condition, unlike Daisy Miller, suggests a much loose guidelines for class and social perception on them. It does not completely deny the existence of different social classes, but it criticizes the class for lacking core characteristic. Therefore, Mr. Doolittle s rather abrupt change of class supports the story s context of a more flexible type of society. In such society, Eliza can be identified as a duchess with her beautiful dress, manner, and pronunciation. Also, in Pygmalion, higher class does not necessarily ensure a respectable, desirable characteristic. Freddy and Clara are of the higher class but are not described with desirable features. Also, with eloquence in speech, a dustman can be moved to the middle class without much difficulty. Therefore, the individual s ability to acquire the qualities of the class is more important in ... • 9. Dangerous Liaisons By Pierre Ambroise Laclos It is true that in the old times women did not have equal rights as men. Men had more social and political freedom comparing to women, and the system was organized on men. It took a really long time for women to gain at least some equality. In the book Dangerous Liaisons by Pierre Ambroise Laclos there are many examples of women having much less rights comparing to men in the 18th century. Back then, women simply couldn t do what men could simply because they were women and they weren t considered as powerful as men were. Women had to do more things in order for them to do the same things as men. For example, if women wanted to have an affair it had to be kept secret and no one was supposed to find out about it, because if someone did find... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So the author can also hide Cecile s true feeling because she doesn t want everyone to know that she was raped. This would make her life in the future miserable, because none of the men would want to marry her, since back then men wanted to have pure wives. Another part of this argument is that Valmont said that since he had the key to Cecile s room, people would believe him rather then her. Cecile states that in the letter to Madame de Merteuil: ...he was careful to tell me that, if anyone came, he would know how to put all the blame on me; and, indeed, it was very easy, because of the key. (letter 97, page 148). That could be true the people would believe Valmont rather than Cecile because of the key, but Cecile could have also brought up that she gave him the key because she wanted him to bring the letters from Danceny, since Cecile s mother already knew that Cecile was writing to Danceny before. This could have saved her from the rape from Valmont. But because she didn t not do that, I do not believe that the scene with Valmont seduction of Cecile, could be considered as rape. This can also be showed how women had much less rights because people were more likely believe Valmont rather than Cecile if something was to come up about that seduction. Cecile wasn t able to share it with anyone except for Madame de Merteuil because she knew she basically had no rights and her life would be over. On the other hand Valmont was happy to share that he had an affair with Cecile because it was an accomplishment for him, even though it was not as big as his usual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Use Of Personal Anecdotes On The Audience And It It is within the human nature to be interested in other people s experiences. Whether it be with reality shows or blog posts, people like to hear different incidents through diverse perspectives. Writers take advantage of this curiosity and try to tie experiences into their works. Many times writers will include experiences of their own in order to convince their audience of their perspective on a subject. These personal experiences are done in order to make an impact on the audience and it is written in a certain way to make it the most efficient for the readers. The use of personal anecdotes is effective when details are described to the point where readers can create their own opinions, when they are used as the main topic against an argumentas opposed to being an unimportant detail, and when it has the ability to appeal to the audience s emotion. Details within the anecdote are best described to the point where the audience can draw their own conclusions on what is happening. Description is crucial in order to fully understand what is going on. In the case of Blue Collar Brilliance , written by Mike Rose, the author puts in a lot of time to adequately describe what the significance of his experiences mean and how they contribute to the story. Many Americans do not know the difference between a refugee, an asylum seeker, and an immigrant. Over the years, different associations, agencies, official acts and laws have come into existence to limit who can be awarded the title of refugee. Rules and regulations have become the most confusing part of coming to the United Statesif a person is seeking refuge. This paper will explore the history of the American refugee and the laws, regulations, and associations that aide or hinder their status. What is the Difference between a Refugee, and Asylum Seeker, and an Immigrant? In the United States, a refugee is defined as a person that is outside of the United States and is seeking refuge from persecution based on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, social group or political opinion. Refugees can be excluded from being awarded refugee status for polygamy, health related issues, moral and criminal and security grounds. Tim O Brien, The Things They Carried It is not only war stories that create confusion, both for their writers, and their readers, about the nature of the truth they tell. Is the truth in a true story what the writer experienced, or the truth of what really happened? If the story is about other people, is the truth what the writer sees them do, or what they think they are doing? If the writer does not know the whole truth, does the story become false? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ethnography has undergone a process of drastic evolution (or, some might say, oscillation) in the century or so that it has existed as an anthropological tool. Many aspects of ethnography have changed between two extremes that I will term traditional ethnography and postmodern ethnography. Everything from the declared goal of the anthropologist to the approach to possible objectivity or subjectivity of the anthropologist s writing, from views on the concept of culture to the ethnography s intended audience, even to choice of topic to explore, has changed. I will explore these differences using Coming of Age in Samoa by Margaret Mead as an example of traditional ethnography, and Poetics of Military Occupation by Smadar Lavie as an example of postmodern ethnography. Veiled Sentiments by Lila Abu Lughod will serve as something of a mix, poised between the two extremes. I must first, however, explain my choice of postmodern as a label for the kind of ethnography that Smadar Lavie produced in 1990 (based on fieldwork done throughout the 70 s). The aspect of postmodernism that I embrace in characterizing Poetics of Military Occupation as postmodern is postmodernism s abandonment of the concept of an absolute truth. The definition of postmodernism offered by Josh McDowell and Bob Hostetler as a worldview characterized by the belief that truth doesn t exist in any objective sense but is created rather than discovered serves well to illustrate the ways ... Yusuf Jaaber Islamic Studies October 24, 2015 Trials and Tribulations of the Muslim Youth Today The Youth of Islam today are dwelling in a crisis and it is a shame to say that most of them know not of what they are in engrossed in. Others out of ignorance disobey the commandments of Allah (SWT) and the guidance of the Prophet, Muhammad (SAW), thus bringing upon them the wrath and anger of Allah (SWT). The lack of authentic knowledge and taqwa (fearing and being cautiously aware of Allah) allows the shaytaan to throw in doubts and arrogance into the hearts of the young Muslims. This leads them directly towards the wrong path and straight to the fire. Therefore without knowledge and a firm foundation of taqwa the young Muslim well never see the light and the beauty of the religion they are obligated to embrace. The lack of knowledge and taqwa also opens the doors to many major issues such as identity crisis, venom of the media, bad companionship, love and attachment to the dunya, and lack of confidence. Although there may be more reasons to the downfall of the youth these few that were mentioned are the main issues that the youth must combat because they are things you deal with on a day to day basis. The book never fully reveals whether or not Hem makes it out of cheese station C, but it exhibits how it is possible to discover better opportunities that come with change through the actions of Haw. The short story Who Moved My Cheese, is a popular novel incorporated into many businesses to assist in training employees. Fred Nickols wrote an article discussing how he views the book, and the overall message concerning the purpose of the book. He states that the main point of the book is to make life simpler than it really is . Nickols expresses his distaste for the book, and his reluctance to buy it . The writing suggests that Nickols is taking the book s plot too far on the realism scale, and not considering the real message of the text. The book is meant to inspire people to be resilient from hardship, and adapt to change, it s not read for the story of the characters. I find the message of adaptability with change to be warranted, whereas Nickos thinks the book is a get on board or else message. It seems like he is unnecessarily mad at the book for no reason. The general feeling this article imposes upon the reader of, is somewhat like he is upset with a fiction story for being unrealistic. He claims that the book s value is ... This financial crisis proved to be detrimental mainly to the south eastern Asian area, including South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia. The aforementioned south eastern states recorded astounding economic growth in the preceding decade. The downfall of the economy caused a domino effect in the local markets and currency markets of each country. The nations leaders, as a result, had to request assistance from the IMF. Similar to a number of financial crises in the past, the Asian financial crisiscame to be as a result of unexpected economic growth. The countries were all under the influence of a number of different economic criteria, such as cheap yet fairly well educated labour, lowered barriers to trade, and economies based heavily on exports. As depicted on Figure II, FB has strength points that include: its long history and its access to global markets over a short period of time, that enabled it to lock in a wide base of users that find it too costly to switch to other networks that don t provide a strong motivation for switching especially that FB has a strong ability for imitation and integration that led to a growing advertising revenue from different advertisers that find FB to be a great source of data that they can use for segmentation and targeting. FB weakness points are: its high dependency on advertising revenue, its high dependency on games applications revenue and concentration of ownership in the hands of its founder, Mr. Zuckerberg, that seems to be so innovative and successful. However, it is a reason why long term investors may worry because there is no guarantee of the continuous of the long term success given a single control over a public company. The Devil And His Fellow Evil Angels Thesis: Contrary to popular views, the devil and his fellow evil angels are real threats and enemies to the world, raging an all out war against Christians, but it is important to remember that we are not fighting this war alone God is there fighting for us. I.Today s view of the Devil and evil angels is almost a laughable view, or, as Lyle Lange puts it, a fun loving prankster (Lange, 183) a.One view is of a shoulder devil. i.This is a devil with pointy horns and a trident in a full body red suit who tries to convince you to do wrong. ii. An example of this is Kronk from The Emperor s New Groove. iii. They miss the fact that the devil can hurt you, maybe not physically but spiritually. b.Another view is of a person who rules hell and can do no harm to us up on Earth. i.These people miss the fact that the devil is on Earth trying to sway God s people toward our sinful nature. c.Contrary to popular views, the devil and his fellow evil angels are real threats and enemies to the world, raging an all out war against Christians, but it is important to remember that we are not fighting this war alone God is there fighting for us. i.He is an enemy of man and of believers, one whom we should know, respect, and resist in faith and in the power of the Lord Jesus. • 40. Theme Of Revenge In Hamlet Ojea Quintana 1 Lucas Ojea Quintana Mr. Sather AP English 3: Section 1 23 October 2017 The Delay of Revenge Shakespeare s Tragedy Hamlet, demonstrates how humans have to answer one question throughout their life, To be, or not to be. This question can apply to anything and anyone and asks if a person should act or not. The ghost is a character who rarely appears, but offers Hamlet the significant life long question, Hamlet must answer. Throughout the play Hamlet wonders if he should kill Claudius or not which is the basis of the question, to be or not to be. Hamlet does not successfully answer that question and he does not act when he should, which ends up killing him. The ghost affects the theme of revenge because he calls upon Hamlet to avenge him and Hamlet s legacy. Although deeply sorrowed by his father s death, Hamlet did not consider payback as an option until he meets with the ghost of his father. The ghost tells Hamlet King Claudius, his own brother, murdered him. Then the ghost tells Hamlet to revenge his foul and most unnatural murder? (I.v.25). Although murder was an acceptable form of revenge in Hamlet s time he is uncertain about killing Claudius. However, upon his father s command, Hamlet reluctantly swears to get revenge against Claudius. Hamlet does this not because he wants to, but because his father makes it clear that it is his duty as a son, and so Hamlet should not disappoint his perfect father. Hamlet promises to prove his love and duty by killing Claudius. Ojea Quintana 2 The idea of revenge is illustrated in many ways throughout the play. The appearance of the ghost introduces appearance versus reality. When Claudius is at prayer, Hamlet had a perfect opportunity to kill him but he did not want revenge for just punishment in his life, he wanted revenge for punishment for eternity. Hamlet thinks that killing Claudius in his state of purity do this same villain send /To heaven. /Why, this is hire and salary, not revenge! (III.iii.76) will make Claudius go to heaven which is much more than he deserves. If it wasn t like that just imagine all the possible things that can occur. Another reason for them to be split up is so that they don t get overwhelmed with everything that they have to do. So that s one of the main reasons we have our government split into 3 different branches. Checks and balances is a really good thing to help our system because it doesn t allow our government branches to be more powerful then the other. All branches have huge roles towards our government but i think this one has the most important role because it has the president and all the people that pretty much run our country. The Executive branch carries out and enforces the laws. Unlike the Judicial branch they put a to the laws while the Executive branch enforce the laws. The Executive branch contains the president, vice president and the cabinet. The patients are by far the most important aspect of a clinical trialand obtaining drug approval. To achieve improved health, it is critical to improve income security through good jobs, income supports and fairer taxes (Barnes et al., 2013). There are two broad strategies that focus on alleviating the effects of poverty on health: 1) directly reducing poverty and socio economic inequality 2) intervening in pathways connecting poverty and health. These interventions have been identified as upstream and downstream. As the first president of USSR, Gorbachev transformed the Soviet Union from socialism to another political regime. He transitioned the economy of USSR from a planned centralized economic system towards a free market economy leading to increased competitive trade. In the history of the Soviet Union, no political leader had dealt with such turmoil. The country was headed towards an uncertain future. Studies indicate that Gorbachev was essential in both domestic and global affairs (Gorbachev, 19b). People across the world have continued to debate and argue about the controversies surrounding his achievements and roles. In USSR, the populations blamed Gorbachev the economic misery and collapse of the Soviet Union in the course of adapting to the new free market economy. Therefore, most populations of the Soviet Union believe that Gorbachev introduced negative governance in USSR.
