Persuasive Essay On Race
The concept of being a post racial society is something that is only a fantasy in America. The country
is constantly dealing with racism based conflict despite the ongoing efforts to end them. Dominant
races are constantly bettering themselves at the cost of the underprivileged minority. To achieve a race
free society, we would have to eliminate the idea of race in general. Instead of there being various
races we should all be unified as one race, the human race, and simply be Americans. In this country,
we are constantly emphasizing the differences between the races. We are all forced to identify as one
race or another when we should instead be focusing on equality and unity over the differences. To
fully understand the extent to which racial differences play a role in American society, we must first
understand the prominence of prejudice and discrimination against minorities in the country.
According to Sensoy and DiAngelo, we use prejudice to place people into groups that make sense
based on gender, age, economic standing, and appearance. We use stereotypes along with prejudice to
generate an understanding of a person without truly knowing them. We then discriminate against
members of this group based solely on what ideals we have created about them due to prejudices that
are often instilled in us from birth (chapter 3). Many Americans adopt views from our parents about
people of a particular race or background and often think negatively of them just because we see

People Refuse Less When Dealing with Abnormal and...
People Refuse Less When Dealing with Abnormal and Charitable related Request Persuasion usually
occurs when people are mindless. According to the pique technique, target tend to comply if the
mindless state is interrupted by, for example, a abnormal request. In this experiment, we are
examining whether making an abnormal or charitable requests can influence people s willingness to
donate money. There are two independent variables in this experiment. One of them is the type of
request, either normal or abnormal. The other independent variable is the charitable state of the
request, such that whether it is a charitable or uncharitable request. The dependent variable that we are

194). The last experiment is about the prestige motive for making charitable transfers (Harbaugh,
1998). The experiment aims to find the true motivation behind the monetary charitable giving. In the
experiment, he used data on lawyers donations to their law school, and use economic model to
analysis. He concluded that people make charitable donations mainly due to prestige benefit which
means that they receive social approval after the donation (p. 281). This finding inspires us coming up
with our second independent variable in our experiment. We want to test whether it is true that people
are willing to donate more money to a charitable organization rather than an uncharitable one. This
experiment aims to find out what technique can we use to make people more willing to comply to the
donation requests. We believe there will be two main effects, one on each independent variable. We
hypothesize that making abnormal request will get people out of the mindless state and reduce the
possibilities of refusal than making a normal request. We also hypothesize that making a charitable
request will make people comply more positively than making a uncharitable one. We believe there is
also an interaction between the two independent variables. Our hypothesis for the interaction is that
for the normal request, there is slightly increase in the charitable requests than the uncharitable
requests. However, for the abnormal

French entry doors can make the front of your house look very grand and very elegant. However, there
are also drawbacks to having French doors. They tend to be made of a lot of glass, making it easy for
people to peer into your home. Here are a few different types of window film you can apply to your
French doors.
Plain Colored Window Film
The simplest way to cover up your French doors is to apply a solid colored window film to your
doors. A solid colored window film will make it more difficult for people to look through your
windows. From the outside, it will look like you have colored glass on your doors.
On the inside, the light that filters into your house will have a slight colored tint to it. You will still be

Earth s Layers Lab Report
Conclusion The hypothesis for the Earth s Layers Lab was If the Earth has layers, then the denser
material will be closer to the center of the Earth, and the hypothesis was accepted. The data collected
during the experiment accepted the hypothesis was that the sand from film canister #1 had a density of
0.32 g/mL3 and the canister would float on top of the water. The sand from film canister #2 had a
density of 0.99 g/mL3 and the top of the canister would be right below the surface if the water.
Finally, the sand from film canister #3 had a density of 1.17 g/mL3 and the canister sunk to the bottom
of the container of water. Based upon the data collected from the lab, the more sand added to the film
canister, the lower the canisters would go. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One good thing was that the volume of the film canister was measured properly. Some problems were
that when the water in the canister was poured into the graduated cylinder, a few drops of water
spilled back into the tub of water. Also on the graduated cylinder had lines to the nearest millimeter
but the meniscus was in between two lines so the measurement was not completely accurate. There
were a few extraneous variables. One of the extraneous variables was the volume was calculated from
a separate canister. The other three canisters had slightly differents masses so they all could have had
different volumes making the densities of the sand not completely accurate. One other extraneous
variable was when the canisters were put in the water a small amount of water got in the canisters
making the sand wet. This could make the sand s density different making the data

Direct Animal Interactions
Organisms in our society are always interacting with one another on a daily basis. These interactions
impact the fate of the organisms lives, and that of the rest of the ecosystem. These interactions can
either be direct and indirect. A direct organism affects an organism without outside interferences,
while an indirect organism interaction is when an organism interacts an organism by its effects on a
third organism. The three different direct interactions are competition in which both organisms
interacting or negatively effect, mutualism in which both organisms benefit from the direct
interactions, and predation in which one organism benefits from the interaction while the other one
does not. Trophic cascades are found in ecological communities and directly impact the interactions of

will be examined. The Ulva would be expected to dominate over the Fucus distichus because the Ulva
is the superior space competitor. The Ulva grows and populates much faster, so would be able to take
over an area with no animals around. In an area with large herbivorous snails you would expect the
Fucus distichus to dominate because snails typically eat Ulva, allowing the Fucus distichus to
dominate because they have a chemical protection. In an area with a large crab population, you would
expect the Ulva sp. to dominate because the Asian shore crabs eat periwinkle snails, resulting in more
Ulva sp. because there won t be enough snails to eat them. If there is a presence of Asian shore crabs,
the Ulva sp. will dominate in a community over the Fucus distichus the Asian shore crab will eat the
periwinkle snail and allow for the ulva to prosper without the fear of a predator and dominate space
over the Fucus

The American Businessman Essay
The American Businessman When you think of your average businessman, the first thought probably
is a tall and slender man, who always wears black suits and is a wall street shark. However, this is not
the case for Eric Merchant. He is a large, jolly man, who always wears tee shirts that relate to cars and
trucks. Every weeknight, after Eric comes home from his job as a business owner, he starts to work
again. He is a day in and day out workaholic, he always has something to do and time to do it. He
elaborates, I can t just do nothing, that doesn t seem practical to me, Eric has always been a devoted
worker for his own personal satisfaction, and for his two children, Maddy and Masen. Before his
business, Merchant Automotive, became his priority in work, he was a mechanic for a Todd Wenzel
dealership. However, he still ran his own small business on the side while working there. He bought
parts from their supply manager and resold them on his own website. They knew what I was doing,
they just didn t care because I wasn t competing with them. His managers hadn t cared because they
weren t selling anything online, and therefore saw no problem with Eric doing so. Along with that, he
would do speciality mechanic work on large diesel trucks out of his own garage. Eric had tools and
knowledge to perform maintenance on specific vehicles that almost every other mechanic shop could
not do. He attracted customers from around the globe by using online forum websites, spreading

Biometric And Identification Of Biometric Identification
Biometric methodologies emerged into existence in 1858 by use of recording hand images for
identification purposes. From 1858 to 1896 studies progressed in the identification of individuals by
hand geometry, a person s measurements, and fingerprints. From the year 1936 to 1985 biometric
studies proceeded for iris pattern, face recognition, acoustic speech, written signature, and hand
identification. Patents for hand and iris identification became a reality 1985 to 1986 and in 1988 the
first semi automated facial recognition system was deployed. By 1991 face recognition is automated
with the ability of detecting faces in real time. By the mid to late 1990 s biometric methodologies
evolves and is integrated into technology allowing the practice of fingerprint, palm systems, and iris
identification to become more reliable with increased automation capabilities. Studies therefore
increased and biometric technology became even more advanced in the early 2000 s up until today s
time.
There are now about 14 different types of biometric technologies that exist today. These biometric
technologies are DNA, Iris, Retina, face, fingerprint, finger geometry, hand geometry, odor, typing,
vein, voice, and gait recognition which are all techniques of identifying and authenticating individuals
that would provide a more reliable and efficient way of verifying a person identification also
preventing access to unauthorized personnel. Biometric technologies today are becoming less

Compare And Contrast The Temple Of Aphaia
The Temple of Aphaia displays two dying warriors. One is located in the west pediment and the other
is located in the east pediment. Despite this, both statues have a very contrasting style. On the west
pediment, the warrior has an arrow embedded in his chest which causes him to fall with grace in this
unnatural way. The warrior is smiling and is in a modeling posture rather than a realistic one.
However, the warrior on the east pediment seems more realistic as it s seen in the appropriate position
for someone who is near death. The reason for this is because it has been said that the pediment from
the west was created 10 years earlier than the one from the east, which is why the one built first is
traditionally archaic while the other is in

Rock Candy Research Paper
The main principle behind rock candy is called crystallization. Crystal is formed when molecules of
the substance arrange themselves in infinite repetitive arrays. Rock candy is made with pure sugar
cane, which gives it its unique taste. The first inventor of rock candy is unknown but it can be traced
back to India and Iran from the 9th century. Early on, as recounted in the writings, twigs would be
used as a device for the crystals to grow on. Over time, the plain white sugar crystals were decorated
in a custom that continues to this day. Adding to Arabic writings, rock candy has been mentioned in
writings which dated back to more than 700 years ago. It was also mentioned in a Persian poem in the
mid 13th century. According to historical records, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Alexander The Great Accomplishments
Alexander the Great has many historical accomplishments during his reign from 336BCE 323 BCE.
During his lifetime, Alexander has completed many long conquests and gained victory in vital wars
which impacted the growth of his kingdom. His accomplishments also set a guide for the Hellenistic
empire that followed in the region after his death. Alexander the Great, is the son of the Macedonian
King Philip II. After King Philip II was assassinated in 336 BCE, Alexander quickly took the throne
when he was only 20 year old. Many Greeks revolted claiming that he was too young to rule. As a
result, Alexander rushed to get in power by finishing his rebels and uniting all the Greek city states
under his rule. The city states of Thebes were the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alexander had appointed his father s experienced general Antipater as in command while he away on
his conquest, leaving him with 9,000 infantries and 1,500 cavalries to maintain control over
Macedonia s territories in Europe. During the spring of 334 BCE. One of the key battles fought in his
conquest was the Battle of Granicus River which occurred on May 334 BCE. It was fought near the
city of Troy and the first of three major battles that was fought between Alexander and the Persian
Empire. Alexander s army faced the Persians on the third day of May from Abydos. Parmenion, the
second in command of Alexander, suggested crossing the river upstream and attacking at dawn the
next day, but Alexander attacked immediately. This tactic caught the Persians off guard. The
Macedonian had special way of attacking. The phalanx tactic to attack consisted of a line that was
arrayed with the heavy combat soldiers in the middle, and cavalry on either side. The Persians
expected that the main assault would come from Alexander s position and moved units from their
center to that flank. The total casualties for the Greeks were between 300 and 400. Likewise, the
Persians had 1,000 cavalries and 3,000 infantry killed. After being victorious in the battle, Alexander
buried the Persian commanders and the Greek mercenaries who were killed fighting on the side of the
enemy. Alexander commanded his men to take all the surviving prisoners and sent them away to

The Parable Of The Sower And The Seed
The Parable of the Sower and the Seed
In Luke 8:4 15, Jesus tells us the Parable of the Sower and the Seed. This parable is about how the
sower spread the seeds on different parts of the land and they each went through a different path of
life. The paths represent the different responses from the followers of God, the seeds represent the
Word of God, and the sower represents a preacher. This Parable basically explains how different kinds
of people respond to the Word of God. Some of the seeds fell into the road, and never got the chance
to grow. This is because they were stepped on by humans and eaten by birds. This represents the
people who listen to the Word of God, but don t receive it. These people will never grow to be

it keeps you in check with your faith to make sure that you are still on the right path with God.
Teaching on Prayer
Prayer is essential to our relationship with God. Prayer is ultimately our response to God s invitation.
There are five types of prayer which are blessing and adoration (acknowledging that God is the source
of everything in our lives), petition(asking for forgiveness), intercession (praying for others),
thanksgiving(thanking God for everything we have in life), and praise(acknowledging God because
HE IS).
In Luke 11:1 13, Jesus is asked by the disciples to to teach them how to pray. So Jesus talks about a
parable about prayer, and some sayings about prayer. He tells a story about asking a friend for loaves
of bread, and if they don t answer you because your friendship isn t strong enough for them to do you
that favor, then they will do it because you are bold. (Persistence is key). This is also saying that when
you need something something from God you can always pray to Him and ask for it, and you will get
an answer, Everyone who asks will receive (Luke 11:10).
This excerpt is also saying how if children ask for something we will give them something what they
ask for, not something mean or irrelevant. It says, If your children ask for[ a fish, which of you would

upbringing in inner city Detroit to his position as director of pediatric neurosurgery at John Hopkins
Hospital at age 33. The novel foregrounds Carson s struggle to defy all odds aided by his iron will,
tremendous faith, respect, meekness and an unconditional devotion to God.
Carson displayed great determination and dedication from a young age. He thrived to be ahead of his
studies and went the extra mile for the well being of his education. After I started pulling ahead in
school, the desire to be smarter grew stronger and stronger. Carson focused more on being the best he

Throughout the auto biography Carson demonstrates an extraordinary amount of trust and faith in the
Lord. A pristine example of Carson s faith is portrayed before a major chemistry final. Although
Carson was unprepared, he laid the situation before God and was able to miraculously score well in
the exam. Carson lived a Christ oriented life and the blessings were endless. His faithfulness
demonstrated the power in living in such a way.
Carson was no ordinary man. His intricate way of thinking was like no other. One of the most obvious
and well known achievement is his concept of incorporating lasers in neurosurgery to nullify
complexities faced whilst operating. He knew there was an easier way and took the initiative to act
upon his ideas. Comparing Carson s accomplishments and initial circumstances serves as living proof
that anyone can be an influential figure in our society.
Carson s radiant demeanor shone throughout the course of his life. His pleasant behavior and respect
for others produced a very likable individual. Although there were countless incidents where Carson
could bad mouth white folk, he never resorted to racial prejudice and whole heartedly believed in
equality amongst everyone.
The problem with many of the intellectually talented is the mentality they withhold which
automatically grants them bragging rights. Carson on the other hand was a silent achiever, very
humble about his success

Iodination Of Salicylamide Lab Report
Iodination of Salicylamide Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to study the directing effects of
substituents on an aromatic ring. Aromatic rings do not undergo electrophilic addition reactions
instead they undergo electrophilic aromatic substitution. The study will be made from the reaction of
the electrophile, iodide ion with sodium hypochlorite, with salicylamide that has a hydroxyl group
(ortho /para directing) that is highly activated, electron donating, and an amide group (meta directing)
that is deactivating, electron withdrawing. The effects of the resulting substitution patterns will be

substitution occurs. Reactions Reaction 1: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hydroxyl group set the directing effect for the product to have the iodine be placed para to the
hydroxyl group. IR spectrum showing a strong peak at 816.50 cmˉ¹ in the fingerprint region suggested
a ring substitution pattern of 1, 2, 4 Trisubstituted because this pattern is expected to have peaks
between 850 800 cmˉ¹. The melting point being 210.8°C 216.4 °C suggested the structure to be like
the melting point of 228°C of 5 iodosalicylamide. The identification was determined to be 5
iodosalicylamide because of the directing effects of the activating group and the results of the melting
and IR spectrum of the product formed. Error resulted in the melting point being lower than the actual
melting point of the suggested salicylamide product structure because the sample could have been not

Censorship In The Movie The Sacrifice
Towards the end of our reading, Nafisi tells the story of a Russian movie called The Sacrifice being
released in theaters. Movies are much like books in the sense that they are an escape from reality.
Movies are another form of storytelling, but this time the story is told through cinematic art instead of
words on pages. In the 1930s during the Great Depression, films were an outlet. During this time, the
people who had the money would buy their movie tickets and go see a movie in order to forget about
their current situation. Much like when you read a book, when you watch a movie, you re submersed
into another world, another life and you acquire another character s problems and emotions and forget
your own. There are the kind of movies that helped you escape, then there were the kind of movies
that expressed serious issues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nafisi says, Knowing that I could not understand the words and that if I thought about the censorship I
would be too angry to watch, I surrendered to the magic of colors and images. (Nafisi 206) The people
of Tehran were so eager to see it because, ...were thirsty for some form of beauty, even in an
incomprehensible overintellectual, abstract film with no subtitles and censored out of recognition. I
believe people were so keen on seeing the film because it was the first time they were able to be
together as a community without someone telling them what they had to do or what they had to
believe. It was also a form of catharsis for many. The feeling of being able to show up to a theater and
be able to see a film was surprising to them, since many people had not been in a theater for years.
Although the people were being oppressed by not being able to choose the movie or language that the
film was in, they were still able to feel like they grasped a miniscule piece of freedom for just one

An Analysis Of Lucky Jim By Kingsley Amis
Entitled and Not Entitled In Lucky Jim, by Kingsley Amis that Dixon is the one that gets everything
he wants. It might not seem that he is getting what he wants at the beginning. It is not like that because
yes he was dating Margaret. She wanted to kill herself because Dixon was not being with her or
treating her like she wanted to be treated. Which during those hard moments he was going through it
was just like a test in life for better to come in a way. Having to be entitled makes kids or people very
selfish. For example there is nine ways that you know your child has an issue or is entitled. They can
not handle disappointments, expect a prize when they are behaving good, feels that rules do not have
to apply to them, constantly wants more, blames others when it is their fault, and expects to be rescued
when they have a problem. It is like when kids feel that are better than any other kids or people. Being
entitled is something it seems that does not happen to him. Eventually it does though he has a girl that
is one of the biggest things that makes him feel good at first. Then seeing his girl being obsessed with
him makes him alil uncomfortable. He makes a move that gets a little away from her. Which yes she
pretends to commit suicide to get the attention. That is why he does not break up with her feeling bad
for her. Though people just feel bad for her of the way she acts. He is a poor guy that struggles in his
job well trying to keep his job. Gets frustrated really quick has a bad mood sometimes. Amis says ,
Dixon knew all this , and very much better than Welch could hope to, but he felt constrained to say:
Yes , I see. I think living with you, Professor, and Mrs. Welch, must have helped her a lot to get out of
the wood (Amis 3). Shows that she is in good care or you can say good hands. Dixon is still worried
about her which make him a really good boyfriend, but she wants more than that. Margaret wants him
to be by herself but he really does not want to be in that position because he lost those types of
feelings for her. There is so much love for him that he does not notice that it is there next to him
asking to open the doors or him. He seems that no one is there for him but many people is actually

USING OF THE ECONOMIC VALUE ADDED MODEL FOR VALUATION OF A COMPANY
Doc. Ing. Eva Kislingerová, CSc. Prague University of Economics
Introduction
There is possibility to use, with respect to the object of valuation, several methods for valuation of a
company in practice. One of the most important and highly used group of methods are yield methods.
They are usually called Discounted Cash Flows (DCF) methods. Value of a company is derived from
present value of future incomes connected with the ownership of a company. The core of these models
is working with time value of future incomes investor gets in case of realization of an investment.

How Did Ww2 Affect People
When World War I ended most of the world thought that there would never be a global conflict like it
again, but some nations were very unhappy with the outcome of that war. One person in particular was
Adolf Hitler, he resented the ending of the first world war. When Hitler invaded Poland with the
German army he began the second world war. World War II had a major impact on many different
nations around the world. The beginning of the war affected the people who lived in central Europe,
while the Holocaust had a major impact on the Jewish population of Europe and the ending of the war
affected many Japanese citizens.
World War II started when Hitler backed by the German army invaded Poland on September first,
1939. In the wake of World War I the Treaty of Versaille created Poland, some citizens were very

Into The Forest Essay
Into the forest.
In the novel into the forest the two main characters, Nell and Eva, lived together their entire lives.
Although they grew up with together in the same remote place with the same parents, they developed
unique personalties and views on life.
In the early stages of the novel there are small things that differentiate the two girls. For example,
Nell, wants to be thrifty, save and preserve the things, while Eva is prepared to use things to get
something done, her thinking isn t of the future but of now. This changes later to some extent when
she realises they need these things to survive. An example of this is when they find that they only have

As she does this we, the audience, find that she appears to be a deep thinker and more academic than
Eva who is more practical. This can be seen throughout the novel as Eva always makes sure the fire is
stoked and does gardening. This also changes towards the end of the novel when Nell is needed to
take over these things when Eva is pregnant, such as using the rifle to kill a wild pig for food.
Both girls show compassion towards each other, but it is Nell that needs or craves this fellowship and
interest of other people. She tries to become friendly with the girls in the Redwood town with no
success, but when she realises that she cant really be apart of them because of her different past.
Alcohol provides some temporary relief, but after a while she thinks that maybe a boyfriend would be
better. Nell eventually meets and gets to know Eli, a young man from the Redwood town.
From Nell s account of Eva we see that Eva has a different personality. She appears to be much more
self assured than Nell is. In there own way they seem to be very focused; Nell on here reading, study,
learning and writing, and Eva on her ballet. Although they have these different interests, they are
simular in a way, because they are both are striving to achieve something and to make a name for
themselves, Nell with her University acceptance and Eva with here professional ballet debut.
Eva doesn t appear to need others like Nell. For example when Nell asks Eva, amp;quot;Don t

Essay about Darfur s Turning Point or Not
Evil can come in many different forms. Desmond Tutu claims this to be as he once said, When people
think of the sort of things that happen when genocide happens, it s again not people who are
intrinsically evil. This quote by Desmond Tutu is a definition of evil because not everybody was born
being evil it depends on a persons real nature. When many people think of evil they think of the
people that they do not like or do not care for. Without people being evil are world would not be as it
is today because we have overcame many of those challenges that it has brought to us. Even though
the Holocaust was horrible, people may debate that the Darfur Genocide was worse.

The Influence Of Lying In High School
Two days after a big math test, I was sitting in my usual seat in the back of the class while our teacher
was handing back our test grades. Because I was in the back of the class, I got my grade last. The time
it took the teacher to arrive to the last row felt like the waiting line at the airport; the time just stopped.
My mind drifted while I thought about what I got on the test. I had studied hard for that test, but I was
not sure if I performed well enough for a high grade. My test sliding onto my table snapped me back
to reality. When I looked at it, I felt relieved. Written in red stood 98/100, but when I saw the comment
beside, my smile left my face. He had commented one word: Fine. I could not understand why. Was he
not pleased with me? I have always thought that fine meant, you did all right, just okay, or not too bad.
After class, I approached the teacher and asked him why he was not pleased with my grade. He looked

Compare And Contrast Tang Dynasty And Empires

Five Tenets Of Management
Derrick Majchszak
Mr. Michael Kimmel
Management 3318
23 March 2016
Five Tenets of Management The business world is a far different place in the beginning of the 21st
century than it was at the beginning of the 20th century. Globalization is occurring at an ever
increasing pace. The speed with which people can communicate and with which people and goods can
travel has fundamentally altered the perception of distance. People of different cultures are finding it
easier than ever to move for work. Businesses are finding that the diversity of their workforces are
increasing at a rapid rate. Management and leadership have to be able to change and adapt for a
business to be successful in this swiftly changing environment. The best way for a business to succeed
is to implement a Total Quality Management approach that strictly adheres to five principles,
otherwise known as pillars. Total Quality Management (TQM) is not a new management style, nor is
it an Asian management style. The roots of TQM can be traced back to two Americans, William
Deming and Joseph Juran. American organizations were not interested in learning new management
techniques, so Deming and Juran traveled to Asia. The Japanese, desperate for a recovery after WWII,
latched on to the roots of TQM and grew it into the management style that TQM is recognized as
today. The last few decades have seen TQM labeled an Asian management style because the Japanese
and other Asian countries became so adept at utilizing TQM s

Terry Frisk Case Analysis
Similar to a Terry Frisk (commonly referred to as a pat down or frisk search ) a protective search is
conducted for officer safety. The same requirement of reasonable suspicion is necessary to perform a
protective search (Hall, 2014). In other words, the officer needs to be able to convey a reason, based
on articulable facts, why a protective search was conducted (Hall, 2014). These searches are to ensure
potentially, ill intentioned people that may be hidden in the area cannot harm officers (Hall, 2014).
When law enforcement makes a legal arrest, incident to that arrest an officer can search the suspect for
weapons, means of escape, and evidence (Hall, 2014). The scope of the search incident to arrest

Supreme Court in Maryland v. Buie set the precedence for law enforcement to conduct protective
searches (Hall, 2014). Although not every justice on the U. S. Supreme Court agrees with the
protective search doctrine, both federal and state courts have continued to expand on the Buie ruling
(Messing, 2010). Justice Brennan has two concerns with the protective sweeps ruling in the Buie case
(Messing, 2010). First, he believes expanding the Terry rule to people s homes violates the Fourth
Amendment (Messing, 2010). Second, the basis of this legal reasoning has no limits regarding the
standards of this ruling (Messing, 2010). Fortunately for law enforcement, the majority disagrees and
most courts allow protective sweeps even in a non arrest situation (Messing, 2010). Courts have
expanded the reasonable suspicion, and ability to articulate facts for protective sweeps to now include
categorical judgment to satisfy a protective sweep (Messing, 2010). An example could be if a suspect
is violent or more then one is arrested, then a protective sweep can survive the court s interpretation
(Messing, 2010). When conducting protective sweeps, the factors that courts take into consideration to
validate these sweeps I believe are sensible to any reasonable and prudent person. The four factors are

Role Of Doctors And The Medical System In Mrs Dalloway
Doctors and The Medical System in Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway
Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway is a piece of literature that helped to push forward a culture of writing
that she felt was otherwise stuck. Along with a style that transcended how people thought about telling
a story, was the commentary. The story is riddled with commentary on politics, society, war, class, and
the medical system. Virginia Woolf lets her worldviews bleed into her writing in a way that is
somehow both subtle and also still direct. She lets the characters have their own experiences and
dialogue, which show her views from different perspectives and without just coming out and saying it.
The commentary that this is most evident in is Woolf s commentary on doctors and the medical
system as a whole. Throughout Mrs. Dalloway, Virginia Woolf shows the incompetence of doctors and
the medical system through Clarissa and Septimus s interactions with them.
As the novel unfolds you begin to see more of the commentary on the medical system leak into the
story. When the novel begins, Clarissa is leaving to go out for a walk around the town. Clarissa hasn t
been able to get out as much as she has liked because she has struggled with her own illnesses that
have kept her presumably somewhat bed ridden. Although Clarissa s interactions with the doctors in
this story are not necessarily direct, it is made known that she has at least some distain for the time in
her life that she was struggling with her health.

Waste Trafficking Through Illegal Transnational Business
Waste trafficking refers to the traffic of hazardous wastes through illegal transnational business that
involves a variety of criminal groups such as private entities, corrupt government officials, and
organized crime groups (Liddick 134). According to environment professor Don Liddick, By the late
twentieth century transnational organized criminals, corporate polluters, and corrupt public officials
have discovered the means to profit from the traffic in household garbage, chlorofluorocarbons
(CFCs), and even radioactive waste illicit industries that rival the international drug trade in scope and

In order to have a better understanding of waste trafficking it is important to examine what facilitates
it, the links it has to organized crime groups, and what steps have been taken to counter it. There are
four factors that increase the likelihood of waste trafficking. The first factor is strict international
regulations. As regulations are implemented, new markets start to emerge. In 1991, for example, the
Bamako Convention imposed a ban on the import of hazardous waste into African, Pacific, and
Caribbean countries, but traffickers found alternative routes and destinations to Europe and China.

Essay on Reading, Writing and Literacy
I wouldn t say that I am a good writer, and I really don t like to read books either. Through my years in
school I became literate in these two categories. I was and still am not interested in writing, or reading
books in my spare time. The only writing I have ever done is for school. Writing just does not interest
me, and the only reading I do out of class is reading about sports in magazines, or reading the news, or
looking at web pages. I have only read a couple of books on my own, 95% of all the books I have read
have been for school. The reason for not writing out of class is probably attributed to the fact that I am
a very impatient person, and I have a short attention span. I have no interest in writing and reading so

The way it helps me out is if I m starting to get bored typing a paper I don t have to leave the
computer I could go on the internet and look at ESPN for a couple of minutes and after I check out last
nights scores I can go back to writing my paper. Because of my computer literacy there are a
numerous amount of things I know I can do on a computer like listen to music, get on the internet,
check e mail, watch a movie, talk to a friend, etc. It might take my attention away from typing but it is
only for a little bit, and then I am back to typing. In the long run I can get the assignment done faster
than just sitting in one spot with no distractions around because I will eventually step away and start
doing something else, then someone might call me to go some where and I will forget about the paper
and leave.
I myself am more of a hands on type of learner; I would rather see demonstrations on what I need to
do and be told why it was done that way, and the reason for it. Some subjects don t need to be taught
with the hands on approach. But now since I am in college the responsibility between the teachers and
myself has shifted, I now have to seek out the information instead of the teacher s hand feeding it to
me. One of my strengths is Restorative, which means that I like to solve problems. It applies to my
style of learning because if I don t understand something I do all I can to understand it. I now

By cloning the LPS locus, he was able to identify a toll like receptor (TLR4) which acted sense the
presence of invading microbes bearing LPS. Receptors of the same family, ten of which are now

to combat infection, but sometimes shock as well. It was for this work that Beutler won the Nobel

Hosea 3 Essay
Hosea s marriage is symbolic to Israel s Unfaithfulness to God through their continuous Idolatry. God
s unwavering love is represented in the long suffering husband of the unfaithful wife. The purpose of
writing about Hosea s marriage was to provide an illustration of His relationship with the People of
Israel. In Hosea 3 shows the greatness of God s grace, when Hosea s wife left him and was living in
sin Hosea was commanded by the Lord to buy her back. This illustrated how Israel needs God s
intervention to restore their relationship. God desires our love over external spiritual practices. For I
delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, And in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings
(Hosea 6:6). God was going back to (Deut 6:5) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then GOD ordered me, Start all over: Love your wife again, your wife who s in bed with her latest
boyfriend, your cheating wife. Love her the way I, GOD, love the Israelite people, even as they flirt
and party with every god that takes their fancy (Hosea 3:1 MSG). Through Hosea, God says that Israel
had left Him to value Harlotry, wine and new wine (Hosea 4:11 NASB). In Verse 12 God makes it
clear that men and women were committing infidelity with cultic prostitutes in the worship of false
gods. Gomer was an appropriate representation of Israel because of the fleshly nature of idolatry that
the folks were committing. Their spiritual adultery gave rise to the physical act of adultery. Hosea
marriage is a lasting symbol of God s faithfulness and conditional redemption of His unfaithful
people, beforehand and presently, through Jesus Christ. God s words to ancient Israel ought to fill us
with hope: I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in
justice, In lovingkindness and in compassion, 20And I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness. Then
you will know the LORD (Hosea 2:19 20

Part Two consists of the regulatory and practice issues found in coaching and mentoring. A thorough
review of the influence of power, the development and learning networks, the use of technology, and
the organizational issues such as purpose and goal orientation in coaching and mentoring are
developed throughout this section. Part Three focuses on the practice of supervision and standards
while exploring some of the contemporary diversity issues facing coaching and mentoring. Part Four
brings together all the above topics and moves toward a theory of coaching and mentoring. This
section concludes with a review of the emerging concerns from coaching and mentoring.
The authors point out that the history of mentoring is extensive and began with a more mature and
experienced person engaging in a relationship with a less experienced person. The central purpose of
both coaching and mentoring is to transfer specific knowledge and skills from one to the other with
the intent of fostering independence (Garvey, Stokes, Megginson, 2014). Garvey et al., (2014)
distinguish the difference between coaching and mentoring. According to the authors, coaching is the
act of facilitating and mentoring is the practice of giving advice and expert recommendations (Garvey
et al., 2014). The authors believe that coaches listen, ask questions, and enable mentees to discover for
themselves what is right for them, whereas mentors talk about their personal experience assuming it

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Race The concept of being a post racial society is something that is only a fantasy in America. The country is constantly dealing with racism based conflict despite the ongoing efforts to end them. Dominant races are constantly bettering themselves at the cost of the underprivileged minority. To achieve a race free society, we would have to eliminate the idea of race in general. Instead of there being various races we should all be unified as one race, the human race, and simply be Americans. In this country, we are constantly emphasizing the differences between the races. We are all forced to identify as one race or another when we should instead be focusing on equality and unity over the differences. To fully understand the extent to which racial differences play a role in American society, we must first understand the prominence of prejudice and discrimination against minorities in the country. According to Sensoy and DiAngelo, we use prejudice to place people into groups that make sense based on gender, age, economic standing, and appearance. We use stereotypes along with prejudice to generate an understanding of a person without truly knowing them. We then discriminate against members of this group based solely on what ideals we have created about them due to prejudices that are often instilled in us from birth (chapter 3). Many Americans adopt views from our parents about people of a particular race or background and often think negatively of them just because we see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the pique technique, target tend to comply if the mindless state is interrupted by, for example, a abnormal request. In this experiment, we are examining whether making an abnormal or charitable requests can influence people s willingness to donate money. There are two independent variables in this experiment. One of them is the type of request, either normal or abnormal. The other independent variable is the charitable state of the request, such that whether it is a charitable or uncharitable request. The last experiment is about the prestige motive for making charitable transfers (Harbaugh, 1998). The experiment aims to find the true motivation behind the monetary charitable giving. In the experiment, he used data on lawyers donations to their law school, and use economic model to analysis. He concluded that people make charitable donations mainly due to prestige benefit which means that they receive social approval after the donation (p. 281). This finding inspires us coming up with our second independent variable in our experiment. We want to test whether it is true that people are willing to donate more money to a charitable organization rather than an uncharitable one. This experiment aims to find out what technique can we use to make people more willing to comply to the donation requests. We believe there will be two main effects, one on each independent variable. We hypothesize that making abnormal request will get people out of the mindless state and reduce the possibilities of refusal than making a normal request. We also hypothesize that making a charitable request will make people comply more positively than making a uncharitable one. We believe there is also an interaction between the two independent variables. Our hypothesis for the interaction is that for the normal request, there is slightly increase in the charitable requests than the uncharitable requests. However, for the abnormal ... They tend to be made of a lot of glass, making it easy for people to peer into your home. Here are a few different types of window film you can apply to your French doors. Plain Colored Window Film The simplest way to cover up your French doors is to apply a solid colored window film to your doors. A solid colored window film will make it more difficult for people to look through your windows. From the outside, it will look like you have colored glass on your doors. Earth s Layers Lab Report Conclusion The hypothesis for the Earth s Layers Lab was If the Earth has layers, then the denser material will be closer to the center of the Earth, and the hypothesis was accepted. The data collected during the experiment accepted the hypothesis was that the sand from film canister #1 had a density of 0.32 g/mL3 and the canister would float on top of the water. The sand from film canister #2 had a density of 0.99 g/mL3 and the top of the canister would be right below the surface if the water. Some problems were that when the water in the canister was poured into the graduated cylinder, a few drops of water spilled back into the tub of water. One of the extraneous variables was the volume was calculated from a separate canister. The other three canisters had slightly differents masses so they all could have had different volumes making the densities of the sand not completely accurate. One other extraneous variable was when the canisters were put in the water a small amount of water got in the canisters making the sand wet. These interactions impact the fate of the organisms lives, and that of the rest of the ecosystem. These interactions can either be direct and indirect. A direct organism affects an organism without outside interferences, while an indirect organism interaction is when an organism interacts an organism by its effects on a third organism. The three different direct interactions are competition in which both organisms interacting or negatively effect, mutualism in which both organisms benefit from the direct interactions, and predation in which one organism benefits from the interaction while the other one does not. The American Businessman Essay The American Businessman When you think of your average businessman, the first thought probably is a tall and slender man, who always wears black suits and is a wall street shark. However, this is not the case for Eric Merchant. He is a large, jolly man, who always wears tee shirts that relate to cars and trucks. Every weeknight, after Eric comes home from his job as a business owner, he starts to work again. He is a day in and day out workaholic, he always has something to do and time to do it. He elaborates, I can t just do nothing, that doesn t seem practical to me, Eric has always been a devoted worker for his own personal satisfaction, and for his two children, Maddy and Masen. Before his business, Merchant Automotive, became his priority in work, he was a mechanic for a Todd Wenzel dealership. However, he still ran his own small business on the side while working there. He bought parts from their supply manager and resold them on his own website. They knew what I was doing, they just didn t care because I wasn t competing with them. His managers hadn t cared because they weren t selling anything online, and therefore saw no problem with Eric doing so. From 1858 to 1896 studies progressed in the identification of individuals by hand geometry, a person s measurements, and fingerprints. From the year 1936 to 1985 biometric studies proceeded for iris pattern, face recognition, acoustic speech, written signature, and hand identification. Patents for hand and iris identification became a reality 1985 to 1986 and in 1988 the first semi automated facial recognition system was deployed. By 1991 face recognition is automated with the ability of detecting faces in real time. By the mid to late 1990 s biometric methodologies evolves and is integrated into technology allowing the practice of fingerprint, palm systems, and iris identification to become more reliable with increased automation capabilities. Studies therefore increased and biometric technology became even more advanced in the early 2000 s up until today s time. There are now about 14 different types of biometric technologies that exist today. These biometric technologies are DNA, Iris, Retina, face, fingerprint, finger geometry, hand geometry, odor, typing, vein, voice, and gait recognition which are all techniques of identifying and authenticating individuals that would provide a more reliable and efficient way of verifying a person identification also preventing access to unauthorized personnel. The warrior is smiling and is in a modeling posture rather than a realistic one. However, the warrior on the east pediment seems more realistic as it s seen in the appropriate position for someone who is near death. Parmenion, the second in command of Alexander, suggested crossing the river upstream and attacking at dawn the next day, but Alexander attacked immediately. This tactic caught the Persians off guard. The Macedonian had special way of attacking. The phalanx tactic to attack consisted of a line that was arrayed with the heavy combat soldiers in the middle, and cavalry on either side. The Persians expected that the main assault would come from Alexander s position and moved units from their center to that flank. The total casualties for the Greeks were between 300 and 400. This parable is about how the sower spread the seeds on different parts of the land and they each went through a different path of life. The paths represent the different responses from the followers of God, the seeds represent the Word of God, and the sower represents a preacher. This Parable basically explains how different kinds of people respond to the Word of God. Some of the seeds fell into the road, and never got the chance to grow. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In conclusion I think the Parable of the Sower and the Seed is an extremely important parable, because it keeps you in check with your faith to make sure that you are still on the right path with God. Teaching on Prayer Prayer is essential to our relationship with God. Prayer is ultimately our response to God s invitation. There are five types of prayer which are blessing and adoration (acknowledging that God is the source of everything in our lives), petition(asking for forgiveness), intercession (praying for others), thanksgiving(thanking God for everything we have in life), and praise(acknowledging God because HE IS). In Luke 11:1 13, Jesus is asked by the disciples to to teach them how to pray. So Jesus talks about a parable about prayer, and some sayings about prayer. He tells a story about asking a friend for loaves of bread, and if they don t answer you because your friendship isn t strong enough for them to do you that favor, then they will do it because you are bold. (Persistence is key). This is also saying that when you need something something from God you can always pray to Him and ask for it, and you will get an answer, Everyone who asks will receive (Luke 11:10). This excerpt is also saying how if children ask for something we will give them something what they ask for, not something mean or irrelevant. Movies are much like books in the sense that they are an escape from reality. Movies are another form of storytelling, but this time the story is told through cinematic art instead of words on pages. In the 1930s during the Great Depression, films were an outlet. During this time, the people who had the money would buy their movie tickets and go see a movie in order to forget about their current situation. It might not seem that he is getting what he wants at the beginning. It is not like that because yes he was dating Margaret. She wanted to kill herself because Dixon was not being with her or treating her like she wanted to be treated. Which during those hard moments he was going through it was just like a test in life for better to come in a way. Having to be entitled makes kids or people very selfish. For example there is nine ways that you know your child has an issue or is entitled. They can not handle disappointments, expect a prize when they are behaving good, feels that rules do not have to apply to them, constantly wants more, blames others when it is their fault, and expects to be rescued when they have a problem. It is like when kids feel that are better than any other kids or people. Being entitled is something it seems that does not happen to him. Eventually it does though he has a girl that is one of the biggest things that makes him feel good at first. Then seeing his girl being obsessed with him makes him alil uncomfortable. He makes a move that gets a little away from her. Which yes she pretends to commit suicide to get the attention. That is why he does not break up with her feeling bad for her. Though people just feel bad for her of the way she acts. He is a poor guy that struggles in his job well trying to keep his job. Gets frustrated really quick has a bad mood sometimes. Amis says , Dixon knew all this , and very much better than Welch could hope to, but he felt constrained to say: Yes , I see. I think living with you, Professor, and Mrs. Welch, must have helped her a lot to get out of the wood (Amis 3). Shows that she is in good care or you can say good hands. Dixon is still worried about her which make him a really good boyfriend, but she wants more than that. Margaret wants him to be by herself but he really does not want to be in that position because he lost those types of feelings for her. Globalization is occurring at an ever increasing pace. The speed with which people can communicate and with which people and goods can travel has fundamentally altered the perception of distance. People of different cultures are finding it easier than ever to move for work. Businesses are finding that the diversity of their workforces are increasing at a rapid rate. Management and leadership have to be able to change and adapt for a business to be successful in this swiftly changing environment. The best way for a business to succeed is to implement a Total Quality Management approach that strictly adheres to five principles, otherwise known as pillars. Total Quality Management (TQM) is not a new management style, nor is it an Asian management style. The roots of TQM can be traced back to two Americans, William Deming and Joseph Juran. American organizations were not interested in learning new management techniques, so Deming and Juran traveled to Asia. The Japanese, desperate for a recovery after WWII, latched on to the roots of TQM and grew it into the management style that TQM is recognized as today. The last few decades have seen TQM labeled an Asian management style because the Japanese and other Asian countries became so adept at utilizing TQM s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Buie set the precedence for law enforcement to conduct protective searches (Hall, 2014). Although not every justice on the U. S. Supreme Court agrees with the protective search doctrine, both federal and state courts have continued to expand on the Buie ruling (Messing, 2010). Justice Brennan has two concerns with the protective sweeps ruling in the Buie case (Messing, 2010). First, he believes expanding the Terry rule to people s homes violates the Fourth Amendment (Messing, 2010). Second, the basis of this legal reasoning has no limits regarding the standards of this ruling (Messing, 2010). Fortunately for law enforcement, the majority disagrees and most courts allow protective sweeps even in a non arrest situation (Messing, 2010). Courts have expanded the reasonable suspicion, and ability to articulate facts for protective sweeps to now include categorical judgment to satisfy a protective sweep (Messing, 2010). An example could be if a suspect is violent or more then one is arrested, then a protective sweep can survive the court s interpretation (Messing, 2010). Role Of Doctors And The Medical System In Mrs Dalloway Doctors and The Medical System in Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway is a piece of literature that helped to push forward a culture of writing that she felt was otherwise stuck. Along with a style that transcended how people thought about telling a story, was the commentary. The story is riddled with commentary on politics, society, war, class, and the medical system. Virginia Woolf lets her worldviews bleed into her writing in a way that is somehow both subtle and also still direct. She lets the characters have their own experiences and dialogue, which show her views from different perspectives and without just coming out and saying it. The commentary that this is most evident in is Woolf s commentary on doctors and the medical system as a whole. Throughout Mrs. Dalloway, Virginia Woolf shows the incompetence of doctors and the medical system through Clarissa and Septimus s interactions with them. As the novel unfolds you begin to see more of the commentary on the medical system leak into the story. When the novel begins, Clarissa is leaving to go out for a walk around the town. Clarissa hasn t been able to get out as much as she has liked because she has struggled with her own illnesses that have kept her presumably somewhat bed ridden. • 42. Essay on Reading, Writing and Literacy I wouldn t say that I am a good writer, and I really don t like to read books either. Through my years in school I became literate in these two categories. I was and still am not interested in writing, or reading books in my spare time. The only writing I have ever done is for school. Writing just does not interest me, and the only reading I do out of class is reading about sports in magazines, or reading the news, or looking at web pages. I have only read a couple of books on my own, 95% of all the books I have read have been for school. The reason for not writing out of class is probably attributed to the fact that I am a very impatient person, and I have a short attention span. I have no interest in writing and reading so when ... The way it helps me out is if I m starting to get bored typing a paper I don t have to leave the computer I could go on the internet and look at ESPN for a couple of minutes and after I check out last nights scores I can go back to writing my paper. Because of my computer literacy there are a numerous amount of things I know I can do on a computer like listen to music, get on the internet, check e mail, watch a movie, talk to a friend, etc. It might take my attention away from typing but it is only for a little bit, and then I am back to typing. In the long run I can get the assignment done faster than just sitting in one spot with no distractions around because I will eventually step away and start doing something else, then someone might call me to go some where and I will forget about the paper and leave. I myself am more of a hands on type of learner; I would rather see demonstrations on what I need to do and be told why it was done that way, and the reason for it. Some subjects don t need to be taught with the hands on approach. But now since I am in college the responsibility between the teachers and myself has shifted, I now have to seek out the information instead of the teacher s hand feeding it to me. One of my strengths is Restorative, which means that I like to solve problems. It applies to my style of learning because if I don t understand something I do all I can to understand it. I now ... This illustrated how Israel needs God s intervention to restore their relationship. God desires our love over external spiritual practices.
