An man from India deeply influenced a black man in America...
An man from India deeply influenced a black man in America who persuaded black Americans
to peacefully seek civil rights. Blacks in America were once slaves. They had neither freedom
nor rights. Now, in the 20th century, segregation has been abolished and discrimination has
largely been reduced and blacks are more able to live freely as American citizens. In Early 1950
s, blacks did not have civil rights, so they had to fight for their freedom by protesting. In 1955,
blacks decided to rally together for social justice and planned a boycott. This boycott became
known as the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This boycott was pivotal in the Civil Right Movement by
energizing blacks, particularly in the South, to become more involved in politics. This... Show more

These laws were applied to the use of everything such as, bathrooms, water fountains, restaurants
and buses. The enforcement of the Jim Crow laws was one of the key factors for the Montgomery
Bus Boycott, initiated by determined black women. People today know Rosa Parks as the pivotal
for the main cause of Montgomery Bus Boycott, but it was not just her, it was also Claudette
Colvin. She was one of the four women who got arrested nine months before Parks in March
1955. Colvin s situation was similar to Parks; Colvin refused to give up her seat to a white
passenger on a Montgomery bus . Claudette was only fifteen years old at the time of the arrest.
She was also a member of the NAACP Youth Council. The NAACP wanted to test the
Montgomery Bus System by assigning black women to challenging the Jim Crow law on buses
in Montgomery, AL. After her arrest, even though she was a youth, the NAACP thought Colvin
would be their key to their rebellion, but could not happen because she later became pregnant.
During her pregnancy, Colvin testified in the Montgomery federal court on the hearing of the
Browder v. Gayle case. Her performance of that civil disobedience did not spark the bus boycott
as Parks did, but did started something that Rosa Parks finished. The elevation of the bus conflict
increased on December 1, 1955, when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person.
There was a law that allowed white bus drivers to expand the whites

Themes Of Marigolds And Miss Brill
Sometimes one has to go through alienation and isolation to reach a transformation. In both
Marigolds by Eugenia W. Collier and Miss Brill by Katherine Mansfield, the characters transform
majorly due to their feelings of isolation. Marigolds is about a woman called Lizabeth recalling her
coming of age experience and Miss Brillis about a lonely womanliving in a fantasy life that she has
created for herself. The theme of alienation and a definitive transformation is evident in both
stories. In Marigolds, the theme of alienation is not as noticeable as in Miss Brill, but still appears
throughout the story. It first starts in the beginning of the story when the author uses I repeatedly in
the first paragraph. The author echoes the authors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Miss Brill created a fantasy life to escape her lonely one and is heartbroken when she is brought
back to reality. In the first paragraph, the fox fur is almost like a friend to her. She treated it as
though it is still alive referring to it as a dear little thing! (Mansfield para 1). She is constantly
alone but always manages to make herself feel oppositely. Every Sunday, while walking alone at
the park, she witnesses what she call a play .. She is always listening as though she didn t listen
and sitting in other people s lives just for a minute while they talked round her, (Mansfield para
3). Miss Brill considers herself part of the play and that even she had a part and came every
Sunday (Mansfield para 19). No doubt somebody would have noticed if she hadn t been there;
she was part of the play after all (Mansfield para 19). However, she is devastated when the only
thing she considers herself to be attached to, her fur, is insulted by the girl. She went home that
day, alone like always, and quickly put down her fur lining back into the box as she heard
someone crying (Mansfield para 18). The person crying is Miss Brill and she is alone when she
does it, just like she is throughout the whole

C-Diff Research Paper
Clostridium Difficile also known as C Diff is a bacterial infection of the gastrointestinal tract of
the human body. C Diff is a gram positive bacillus, which is spore forming. C Diff is one of the
many superbug that health care workers and hospitals battle. There is a very large push by the
Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to educate on hand hygiene and room decontamination for
patients that have tested positive for C Diff in a health care setting. This is because the spread of
the disease is through the fecal oral route, and with spores being able to live on contaminated
surfaces for a long period of time.
C Diff is an opportunistic infection, it will affect an individual whose flora in the intestines has
been compromised by the treatment of antibiotics for a different infection like pneumonia, MRSA,
etc... Antibiotics do not know what bacterial are good and what is bad. They kill all bacteria. This
gives the C Diff spores the opportunity to then take over the flora in the intestine that are being
killed by the current regiment of antibiotics. C Diff affects the flora of the large intestine ... Show

Symptoms range from mild to severe infections. A patients will present with watery stools,
dehydration, and mild to severe abdominal cramping, blood or pus in the stool, leukocytosis and
even kidney failure. Detection of C Diff is very easy for an experienced health care worker all
you need is a good nose. C Diff has a very familiar smell that one will remember. For laboratory
testing, physicians will usually order a stool sample be taken. Stool can be tested for the presence
of C Diff toxins A and B. A microbiologist will run either an Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA),
Polymerase Chain Reaction, or a Cell Cytotoxicity Assay. Each of these test look for C Diff toxins
in the human stool. Many hospitals will run the EIA and Cell Cytotoxicity Assay to collaborate

Is America Still Relevant Today
America has the ability to make difference in people lives. As said before, people came to the
United States to seeks better lives and more opportunities. I believe the American Dream also
means being equally treated. Equal does not mean we are all the same. We are all different,
which is what makes American the way it is today. We are all human and deserve to be treated as
such with dignity and respect. Although America has a hard time showing that we are all equal, I
still believe it is a part of the American Dream. The United Stateshave run into many brick walls
trying to make it seem like all of us are equal, but it has not been a complete success. Many
problems with race and gender is still relevant today. For example, the Black Lives

Herman Hesse s Well-Known Bildungsroman
In Herman Hesse s well known Bildungsroman, Demian, the novel contains connections to both
the Bible and Nietzsche , The Gay Science. These influences are seen in the chapter, Two Worlds
and its similarity to Genesis; the mark of Cain and its connection to Thus Spoke Zarathustra,
and the preparation for World War 2 to Nietzsche s concept of preparatory human beings. Hesse s
influence from the Bible is seen in chapter one, Two Worlds through the similarity between
Sinclair s childhood life and the story of the Fall in Genesis. Sinclair believes the world is divided
into two, the world of light and the world of darkness. The world of light being love and strict
rules, education and example (Hesse 3) Whereas, the world of dark is comprised... Show more

Demian has major similarities to Nietzsche s, Thus Spoke Zarathustra which is seen through
Hesse s mention of the mark of Cain. In chapter two, Cain , Sinclair and Demian are taught the
story of Cain and Abel in school. As expected, the boys learn the story as it is told in the bible,
Cain receives a mark on his forehead to indicate he is evil. However, Demian explains to Sinclair
that he interpreted (the story) in a completely different way. (Hesse 22) Demian believes that the
mark on Cain s forehead is not an indication of evil rather, it is a mark of power that threatened
and scared everyone. When Sinclair and Demian part different ways after their conversation,
Sinclair questions, he not himself a kind of Cain? (...) Why does he have such a power in his
eyes, and why does he speak so scornfully about the others , the fearful ones, who, after all are
actually pious and pleasing to G d? (Hesse 25) Hesse s inclusion of this quote is to reveal that
Sinclair sees Demian as Cain, due to his sense of power and opposition from the others. Later,
the reader learns that Sinclair also has the mark of Cain. Hesse demonstrates this when Sinclair
and Demian are reunited as teenagers and Demian says, you ve changed. But you have the sign
(...) we used to call it the mark of Cain. (Hesse 109) Demian defines those with the mark as,
considered strange, even crazy and dangerous, by the rest of the world. We were awakened, or at
least awakening; our efforts were directed toward ever more complete awareness, while others
always longed to merge their opinions, ideals, and duties, their lives and their happiness, more and
more closely with those of the herd. (Hesse 117) this quote indicates that having the mark of Cain
implies that one separates oneself from mass thinking, the herd. A further meaning for the mark of
Cain is shown when Demian says, felt that we embodied

National Strategy For Homeland Security Essay
The National Strategy for Homeland Security is tasked with guiding, unifying, and organizing
America s homeland security efforts. The National Strategy seeks to protect the Americans, the
country s infrastructure and major resources as well as prevent and thwart any terrorist attacks. It
also responds to and ensures recovery from incidents and strengthens the foundation for long term
success. Such involves developing a preparedness culture among various partners across the
country to make use of well planned response, defensive approaches, and recovery measures.
However, terrorists are adapting to the current practices on terrorism response protocols and using
new technologies and organizational capabilities and structures in response to both international
and domestic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is critical, to maintain a balance in emergency management planning as well as
ensuring an implementation of all hazards approaches. There is also a need to address risk
management through strategic planning to create programs and capabilities regarding the
homeland security programs. Further, the National Strategy should incorporate operational
planning to identify any threats and hazards and determine the risk reduction objectives.
The National Strategy for Homeland Security could benefit from information sharing in regard to
terrorism response protocols. This would call for all entities involved in counterterrorism to share
information effectively and understand each other s contributions, responsibilities, and roles. It is
also critical for these agencies to update and establish new information sharing agreements to spur
collaboration and coordination as well as formalize and reaffirm the responsibilities and roles of
partners in the information sharing

Within The Context Of American Society, We Have Strayed
Within the context of American society, we have strayed from the true purpose and identity of
what the church was originally created to be. When we hear the word, church, we think of a
building, a mere location where believers gather together every Sunday. The church of America
might believe the essential elements of the church are an air conditioned sanctuary, ten different
ministry opportunities, and a full band to lead worship. While none of these things are necessarily
bad, they do not comprise the biblical model of what the church was created to be. The church can
be divided into two components: the Universal Church and the local church. Once a person
becomes a believer, they are part of the Universal Church, the body of believers... Show more

In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus commands His listeners to repent for the Kingdom of God is near.
In Acts 3:19, Peter says, Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that
times of refreshing may come from the Lord. One cannot enter into a relationship with God without
repentance, which is why it is the first essential element of the church. Repentance and faith in
Christ turns a person away from his or her sin and allows that person to enter into the grace of God.
Repentance is a central command of Christ to the church, and so it must be a central command in
our churches today.
The second characteristic Peter considers to be essential is baptism. Jesus himself was baptized; so
believers of the church today must also be baptized. In Matthew 28:18 20, Jesus gives His final
command as, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. If Jesus considered baptism worthy and necessary enough to be
in His final command, it is something we should put into practice today. The command to be
baptized is found multiple times throughout the book of Acts and also in the rest of New
Testament, thus, making it an essential element of the church today. In Acts 22:16, Paul is told,
And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his
name. Baptism is the first step of obedience as a

Do you ever wonder if animals of different species ever act the same? If you say no then you re just
like me. Two completely different animals who behave the same don t sound like a true
possibility for most of us because we hardly see such quality played out. And if we do it s
commonly viewed on a video we have found on the internet or a picture with caption of how a
horse acts like a dogor something of the sort. The majority of the population have pets of their
own at home, which we can say are the typical dog, cat and fish. I assume you may have guessed
that I too have some of these animals as a pet; however I also have a pet that a great amount of
people do not have a parrot. Yes that s right my pet parrot named chipsy. I have three dogs, two
fish and one parrot. But the two that act alike are my Senegal parrot Chipsy and my Bishon

Princess has white curly hair and is short and fat. Princess doesn t chirp, but obviously she barks.

Divergent Essay Identity
Everyone is special. Each person is known to present a zeal of individuality, each specialising in
a unique set of traits while learning from them to create new ones. Moreover, Veronica Roth has
written a novel called Divergent. The novel takes place in a world composed of the ideology of
identity where each person is divided into factions , places that tell how they think and behave.
All things considered, the story identifies many components of self identity and symbolises it into
a new take on how the human perceives individuality. The story is followed by many characters,
Four, a young man empowered by an ugly past, and Tris, a teen with a gift she is forced to partake.
In the novelDivergent, self identity is exemplified through the actions... Show more content on

Likewise, humanity can find themselves like Tris, where she is baptised with dangerous and
unexpected titles in Divergent. The term Divergent is an impact of the life of the society in the
novel. Divergents are described to be people with a diverse set of emotions, possibly bring
unbalance to their orderly utopia. Tris never expected to be Divergent. However, she represents
how human beings usually cope when faced with a disorderly circumstance. She describes her trait
of diversity as if ‒someone breathed new air into my lungs. (Roth 442) Insignificance,
acceptance is a huge step to recognising self identity. Tris has learned to define herself according
to one of her most doubted moral. For instance, it was a huge breath for her to fully embrace her
Divergent mind. Similarly, men and women can learn from this as a life lesson as the unexpected
can be the most beneficial on how they perceive themselves. Nevertheless, Tris also relies on the
brave and selfish persona as a Dauntless initiate. Despite lived in a brave new world of adventure
she realises the true definition of her bravery and bravery among others. Beforehand, Tris used to
live in a complete opposite of dauntless where those dwelling lived upon pillars of selflessness. In a
mature talk with Four about her experience in Dauntless, she states ‒that selfishness and bravery
aren t all that different. (Roth 336) Even when traits have a reasonable contrast, those opposite
contracts. For instance, Tris finds similarity between a discrepancy. Thus, it symbolises that
believing that each emotion of one s life builds upon each other creates a personality that can
overcome the greatest of odds. In her time in Dauntless, Tris creates a friendship among many
people, especially Christina. Christina was known as Tris first actual friend, due to the boundaries
in Abnegation, her last faction. Over the course of the book, Tris and Christina

Persuasive Essay On Fentanyl
Once more, the lives of Canadians are being claimed by addiction and overdose of a new drug in
the streets. For those of you who don t know what fentanyl is, it s a powerful opioid, 100 times
stronger than morphine, that is often prescribed to help patients manage moderate to severe pain.
As a highly addictive substance, many are now dependent on it, and it is one of the most frequent
causes of drug overdose. Readily available for purchase online are quantities of pure fentanyl from
China, but when improperly diluted in clandestine labs, it can lead to an immediate overdose.
Recently, an antidote for opioid overdose called naloxonehas become available without
prescription, so that anyone can use it. Fentanyl has become a severe problem in the past few
years, and while we yet to find a way to eliminate dependence on this drug, we must keep those
who use it safe.
Developed in 1959 by a Belgian chemist, Fentanyl came into widespread use in the mid 1990s as
a painkiller and anesthetic. With the widespread availability of this drug as a common prescription,
it s not difficult to understand how easy it is to become dependant on. Here begins the problem, for
once their prescriptions run out, people need to buy drugs off the street to feed their addictions.
Now, buying drugs off the street can be incredibly dangerous, as drugs produced in illegal labs
without a way to control dosage can be deadly. This is an especially big issue with fentanyl,
because of its potency; A few hundred

Sagging Pants Is Deviant Behavior Essay
A deviant behavior is a label attached to a person s activity that is conducted in a manner outside
the normalized zone of conformity within a society. There is the perception of how people view
or understand certain demeanors. Next, a behavior may be considered illegal in the eyes of the
law and it may also be viewed as immoral, unethical or inappropriate in the eyes of the people.
Moreover, deviant behavior is conceptualized in the eyes of the public even when an act is not
illegal.
Although this may be true, there is still the circle of cultural beliefs and upbringings among certain
groups of people that may not actually consider an act deviant or illegal. People in a community

On the other hand, wearing saggy pants is a matter of free will and of choice. It is part of a
person s identity. Why would wearing pants that show underwear be considered deviant?
Feldman(1984) indicates, norms are enforced to show people what type of behaviors are accepted
within a members of society. Furthermore, this raises the point in asking the question, why there are
no rules against women wearing revealing tops? In my opinion, I think it s just a matter of choice
and how members of a society view such acts which are not criminalistic.
I believe that sagging may be more predominant in lower classes such as college freshmen
because they are just getting out of high school and may still be more involved in the trendy urban
fashion statements. Next, in regards to sagging being used by upper level classmen such as seniors,
I think that they would tend to use less of sagging pants because of their age and maturity level.
In the same fashion, I believe school dropouts would tend to sag more than medical doctors
because of the difference in professionalism. In my opinion, doctors are professionals and are not
trying to look cool or make a fashion statement. In addition, I believe that some dropouts would
have a lesser sense of ethical and acceptable morals. But, at the same time, I still find wearing
specific styles of clothing is a matter of choice.
I think that the answer to this question may take on

The Unified Science Center At Stockton For My Project
I decided to choose the Unified Science Center at Stockton for my project because it is easily
accessible to me, it is fairly new and as a business major student, I found the building to be very
impressive. We business majors don t have a place to hang out or a quiet place to talk to people in
our major. I normally just see people in the library or in the hallway and if we have to do
schoolwork we just go to a computer lab. However, the Science and Math majors have a building
full of labs and classrooms. In my opinion I felt like Stockton was trying to one up the Arts
building with another new building. The two buildings are similar in the way they both function.
The Art building is a good place for the Art majors to get creative for their assignments and while
these students are surrounded by artwork they could feel more of an impact from the atmosphere.
The Science Center is a good place to apply what the Science students have learned in class and
apply it in a laboratory.
Stockton University built this building to attract more science students. I think EYP did a great
job designing the building. If you never entered the building before, you can just look at it from
the outside and just tell that it is a building designed for Science majors. The building itself does
not have many classrooms, but instead it has a lot of laboratories with state of the art equipment.
On the inside of the building it has a piece of artwork called the wave hanging from the second

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Composite...
I.INTRODUCTION
A
n aeroplane is acted upon by a few forces in the sky: Lift, Drag, Thrust and Weight. It counters the
force of gravity by using either static lift or by using the dynamic lift of an airfoil. A composite
material is a material made from two or more constituent materials with differing physical or
chemical properties that when joined together, produce a material with characteristics different
from the individual material. The individual component remains separate and unique from the
finished structure. There are a few types of currently available composite materials, and they
include carbon fibre, fiber glass and fibre reinforced matrix systems. Almost all new aircraft these
days include some composite material into their designs. The most common composite material that
is used in aircraft is fiberglass. Other composite materials used includes Kevlar, which is now
replacing glass fibers. Composite materials had been used commonly since ... Show more content

Although aeroplanes go through very stringent checks before flying, more time is needed to
check when it is made with the composite material. As composite materials do not break easily,
it is hard to differentiate if the interior structure has been damaged at all. Hence, it requires
extensive inspection techniques for detection. In contrast, for traditional materials like
aluminium, due to its nature, it bends and dents easily. [6] Therefore it is quite easy to find out
if there is any structural damage. Based on experience, an aircraft would be grounded for a few
days to repair on the composite material while only a few hours would be needed for a traditional
metallic part. Moreover, repairs can be much more expensive when a composite surface is
damaged. Also, composite repairs are more prone to human error than metal repairs since the
quality of composite repair is highly dependent on the process

Discuss The Arguments For Banning Sulphuric Acid
PbO2 + Pb + 2H2SO4 ↔ 2PbSO4 + 2H2O The reaction of lead and lead oxide with the sulfuric

The main sources of pollution caused by this process are process wastes and emissions of
contaminated air. Acid rain is one of the emissions that contributes to pollution. The process of
smelting sulphide ores produces sulphur dioxide gas; this chemical reacts in the atmosphere to form

Ancient Aztec Art
The modern concept of art as a form of individual expression would not have made much sense to
most Aztec artists, particularly those in the visual arts painting, sculpture, and metalworking. For
most Aztec artists their works were not meant to express feelings or thoughts, nor were they meant
to be beautiful or pleasing to view. Art was almost entirely in the service of Aztec religion. Since
the Aztec common people could not read, art was the central means of conveying the ideas and
stories of the spirit world and communicating religious truths to them. Sculptures of the gods were
necessary for worship. These statutes, often made in the detailed image of one of the gods, existed
in every Aztec home. There were thousands in temples and in... Show more content on

The first discovery of Olmec art was a colossal head, found in the area of Tres Zapotes in 1862.
As of 2004 seventeen colossal heads have been located in several sites. These, like much Olmec
art, were designed to glorify the Olmec rulers. For the Olmecs, art was meant to give power to
the shaman or ruler. The massive altars made of enormous carved basalt blocks weighing up to
44 tons (40 metric tons), for instance, are believed to have served as thrones for the Olmec
kings. At the bottom and front of each of these altars was a carved niche. A small human figure
sits in the niche, holding either a were jaguar on his lap or a cord in his hand, or both. The niche,
according to experts, represents a cave, or the entrance to the supernatural world and the ruler s ties
to the gods. The process of entering into the otherworld the world of the supernatural is central to
most Olmec art. Though they were masters at stone carving, the Olmec were also highly skilled
potters and stone cutters. Much of their pottery depicts nagual transformations the jaguar in
particular, but also the harpy (part bird, part woman), shark, and caiman (a kind of crocodile found
in Central and South America). Among Olmec artifacts, archaeologists have found many life sized
ceramic human infants made from white clay. They are realistic portraits and beautifully crafted,

Two Arguments On The Theory Of Evolution
Evolutionism is supported by most people. There are two arguments on the theory of evolution.
The first argument is that evolution is caused by natural selection, such as the birds of the
Galapagos Islands. Because of different food made of different mouth type of bird, after the
environment changed, the food source changed, causing the birds died, this is the result of natural
selection.
The second argument is that all creatures are genetically related. In the anatomy, although whales
appearance just like fish, but the other part is more similar with the mammals, and in the early
embryonic development process also like mammals,
Genetics also found that the closest DNA sequence of whale was hippopotamus, probably they had a

Persuasive Essay On Anti Smoking
Did you know that 20% of adult s smoke cigarettes in the United States and every year more than
480,000 people die from tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke, making it the leading
cause of preventable death in this country? (CDC, 2017) How many of those people do you think
have children? Second hand smoke is just as dangerous as lighting up according to the Center for
Disease Control and Prevention. It causes numerous health problems in infants and children,
including more frequent and severe asthma attacks, respiratory infections, ear infections, and
sudden infant death syndrome. (CDC, 2017) Anti smokingadvertisements began in 1998 as part of
a 206 billion dollar settlement. Major tobaccocompanies, including Philip Morris USA, R. J.
Reynolds, Brown Williamson, and Lorillard, were to pay for anti smoking ads due to a lawsuit
from 46 states. The states filed a lawsuit against the major tobacco companies for Medicaid and
costs incurred while treating the sick and dying cigarettesmokers. (Public Health Law Center,
2015) In 2012, the federal government took on an effort to attack the nation s tobacco addiction
with a series of advertisements highlighting the grisly toll of smoking. (Harris, 2017) You have
probably noticed one of these ads. In one TV ad, a woman who has a hole in her neck and barely
any hair on her head after suffering head and neck cancer. (Harris, 2017)
Even today, there are many powerful advertisements focused towards a shrinking market of
smokers. They often depict the harmful effects of tobacco through graphic pictures or other
startling images. The advertisement I chose depicts a black background with a clear baby bottle
full of cigarette butts. There is smoke coming from the nipple of the baby bottle with the words,
How many cigarettes a day does your child smoke? in all white bold letters. Under the baby bottle
are the words, Prevent passive smoking in a smaller font. Through this, the image is able to
convey a sense of danger and promote awareness of the hazards of smoking around children.
In advertising, the importance of tone is used to impact a specific group of people. Setting the right
tone can convey your message to the intended audience. In the advertisement I

Why Do Animals Lack Intelligence
Descartes posits that animals lack intelligence, a characteristic that is distinctly a human possession
(p.30, Adam Tannery). By this he means their ability to be rational, to exercise reason and to speak;
the act of putting words in an orderly fashion to express thoughts. While the deaf and the dumb lack
this possession, they have the ability to speak through a different language, sign language (p.31).
Parrots in contrast, have the ability to speak but lack the comprehension to express higher levels of
thought (p.31). Language is a learnt behavior. If Descartes thought of language as a measure of
intelligence, then Washoe a chimp who has been taught to communicate through American Sign
Language (ASL) would be a refutable example of this statement. Critics argued that the chimps
were only taught to mimic, but Washoe shocked researchers when she taught her adopted son
Loulis about 50 ASL signs without researchers intervention2. Surely, this is evidence that animals...

Comparing Saramago s Death With Interruption, And Re
Saramago s quote Some people spend... speaks well to the depth of works and the recongnition of
themes within them. Stories create a broad path from beginning to end in order to engage a
reader, and sometimes even link these two ends to an extreme degree. Other stories, however, lead
the reader on a journey from the beginning to end, and they grow lost between what the focus of
the novel and what other subplots are trying to establish. Saramago, Sartre, and Marquez all show
how a flowing river of literature may seem to detract from the overarching theme of a work, but in
actuality enhance the reader s experience. In Death with Interruptions, Saramago establishes an
undercurrent of mystery, as why death has stopped. Until the end of the... Show more content on

Each individual has (and will) hurt each other, and that is what caused them to be there in the
first place. When Inez first meets Garcin, she is eager to begin her torture, so as to be tortured by
separation, she sets the scene for the end of the story (Sartre 8). Garcia realises the futility in
fighting against the hellish (a hah) environment he is in. Finally, Garcin says well, well, let s get on
with it..., thereby linking the cycle of the story (Sartre 47). Most of the middle section can be
considered just fluff and slight character development, but the majority of the action occurs when
the characters first meet upon their entry to hell and their acceptance of the fate that they have been
left with, not determining who they are in relation to each other. For the longest time, the three
have been fighting over (and sometimes for) each other, but the most momentous achievement is
when they learn to accept each other. This story teaches about acceptance, as even with a
murderer, an adulterer, and an abuser can get along, because they are condemned for eternity.
Europe has a long history of not accepting differences, from the early slave trade to more modern
examples like the Armenian Genocide. Sartre experienced a lot of this living in France during both
World Wars, and seeing just how brutal humans could treat others. Instead, Sartre tries to portray a
world filled with terrible individuals, but shows that eventually they must all have to get along with

Voter Turnout In America
The nature of voter turnout is a broad concept in modern American politics and can be broken into
many topics: how voter turnout varies by state, by election, by demographics, and whether or not
voter turnout actually matters. Despite public opinion that voter participation is declining and that
such participation matters, voter turnout is about the same as it was in the 1960s and has not
undergone serious changes, and turnout only actually matters in competitive or local elections,
rarely national elections. The first determinant of variation in voter turnout is electiondifferences
between states; specifically, votingaccessibility, early voting, how competitive the race is, and
gerrymandering of districts in the state. Voting accessibility

The Importance Of Race In Education
Access to education is a basic human right, not a privilege. Human rights cannot be given or taken
away on the basis of nationality, sex, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, language, or any other
status. This means that the right to education is legally guaranteed for all without any
discrimination, state have the obligation to protect, respect, and fulfil the right to education, [and
that] there are ways to hold states accountable for violations of deprivations of the right to
education (Right to Education). In 1948, Article 26 of The Universal Declaration on Human Rights
declared that everyone has the right to education. However, many children are denied educational
opportunities on the basis of their gender or their race. In the United States, race and gender
inequality still plays a big role in students education. Race and ethnicity have been shown to
have a large effect on the way that students learn and are treated in all levels of education. As
with race, gender also plays a large role in one s education. Reports have shown that academic
and disciplinary racial disparities continue to exist in K 1 education in the United States, and girls
and young women in all parts of the globe are prevented from starting school at all, or not allowed
to complete their education (T., Kirah). The United States Department of Education s 2014 Civil
Rights Data Collection reports that Black, Latino, and Native Americans have a bigger chance of

registration in a semi urban settlement in Uasin Gishu Kenya. This is a descriptive cross
sectional survey conducted in a semi urban settlement in the Uasin Gishu of Kenya to determine
awareness, attitude and practice of birth and death registration. This is a descriptive cross
sectional survey. Three hundred and two heads of households were interviewed in houses
selected by systematic random sampling and birth registration certificate checked for children
below 11 years. The study showed that awareness of birth registration was high in the study
population and the major source of awareness is through government agencies and mass media
play very little role. The awareness of death registration is however very low. Out of the 217
(71.9%) households that had children below 11 years, total children below 11 years is 473
children, 354 (74.8%) of them had their births registered and only 202 (57.1%) had registration
certificate during the interview. Of the 209 households that recorded deaths in the household within
the last 10 years only 24 (11.8%) households reported registering deaths in the last 10 years. The
study concluded that Birth registration and death registration need to be complete for planning

Testaments Betrayed Analysis
While humans often live life in a duality, with a face they put on for the public and the true
character they show with friends, the private life may easily seep into the public eye. In his piece
Testaments Betrayed, Czech writer Milan Kundera asserts that the curtain between public and
private lives is not to be removed, and those who do so are deplorable voyeurs. Although it is
immoral for one to reveal another s private life, the barrier between public and private lives must be
torn down when the public benefits, whether by the intruder or the individual in question himself.
For those declaring the need for a societal shift in paradigm, leaders of a movement often need to

An individual s rights are secondary to those of society, which seeks to benefit and advance
more. Eric Garner was fatally choked by NYC police in 2015, prompting the rise of the Black
Lives Matter movement. His last words, I can t breathe, were captured on video and shared
millions of times while he was fading in and out of consciousness. While the bystander capturing
the video may have intruded into his privacy, that moment was a necessary mingling of public and
private because it personified the outrage present in society. In doing so, the bystanders
demonstrated to a broad audience the injustice present in society. The dual nature of an
individual s public and private personas also exactly demonstrates the necessity in breaching
personal privacy, for individuals may have a different personal agenda than the public façade
they create. Many colleges now review a student s social media profiles as a part of the holistic
admissions process in order to verify the authenticity of a student s supposed character. I
personally had a friend who was a Big 10 bound athlete have his contracts revoked because of his
braggadocios nature on social media, often proclaiming how he had received contracts from
schools that, in reality, had not extended one. While supposedly a breach in privacy of the
prospective athlete, this step is necessary in the admissions process to ensure that the team and
college in general has a reputable student body. Thus, the curtain of privacy must be torn away in
situations where the public stands to gain knowledge to make informed

Oozing Hegemonic Masculinity in the Super Bowl Commercials
Many of us watch the Super Bowl to check out what we expect to be the most innovative and
entertaining commercials of the year. Given the grand stage on which these commercials air, it is
important that we analyze them in their proper context. Remember, this is a sporting event, one in
which only men are allowed to participate (as athletes/coaches), where violent collisions are
celebrated, and where most of the audience is male. Considering these gendered parameters, we
should not be surprised that many of the 2012 Super Bowl commercials ooze hegemonic
masculinity. In this post David Mayeda explores how a masculinity can be used to opress men and
women alike.
Back in 1987, Raewyn Connell coined the term hegemonic masculinity in a seminal text, Gender
Power. Hegemonic masculinity refers to the dominant form of masculinity that exists within a
particular culture. Relative to this ever changing, idealized form of masculinity are different
subordinated masculinities those within a culture that do not live up to the so called masculine
gold standard. Put simply, there are real men and then there are all other men.
In watching the 2012 Super Bowl commercials, we can see versions of hegemonic masculinity
demonstrated. Perhaps the most vivid version was seen in H M s Super Bowl ad, utilizing soccer
(futbol) star, David Beckham:
Tattooed, rugged, athletic, showcasing a lean musculature and menacing glare, Beckham embodies
a hegemonic masculinity that would surely resonate

Essay on Brian Friel s Translations
Brian Friel s Translations
Brian Friel s play Translations was the first production of the Field Day Theatre Company in
Derry in 1980, which Friel co founded with Stephen Rea. It describes the beginning of the process
of Anglicization in a relatively remote Gaelic speaking area during the 1833 Survey of Ireland, in
which the English mapped Ireland, both culturally and geographically. Years of concerted
anglicizing of the Irish by the British early in the 19th century led to the widespread fall into disuse
of the native Gaelic tongue. National schools teaching exclusively in English began to open during
the Survey of Ireland, and English culture encroached rapidly into Ireland. William Butler Yeats and

Hyde s speech argues that the Irish had by that point indiscriminately adopted all that was English
with little thought as to its value, that the Irish had [ceased] to be Irish without becoming English. 2
He criticizes those Irish who claim to hate British dominance, yet speak only English, anglicize their
Irish names, and remain ignorant of Gaelic literature. His central view is that the Gaelic language is
the most important aspect of an Irish identity distinct to that of the British, and that only a return to
Ireland s native language can halt the process of Anglicization. However, he is careful not to make
the claim that nothing English is of value, but emphasizes the necessity of not neglecting that
which is essentially Irish.
The history of Ireland is one of early scholasticism and rich culture in times when the rest of
Europe had less of a literary and artistic tradition. By the time of Hyde s speech, the nation had
become one of the least studious and most un literary 3 countries of the area, and he claims that the
fault lies in a divergence from the right path. 4 Progressive Anglicization has led the Irish to forget
their own culture and its traditions. The British claim that because the Irish have forgotten much of
their language and customs, they should be content as an integral part of the United Kingdom, and

Reclamation, what s it s like to be Commissioner, and any thoughts about your end of term. Today, I

tribes and with federal policy promoting Indian self determination and economic self sufficiency. As
I have witnessed here first hand, settlements can end decades of controversy and contention
concerning water issues among tribes and neighboring communities replacing those conflicts with

constituents have been recognized as valuable traditional herbal medicines used for the treatment of
diseases with a long history in TCM (Fang et al., 2009). Empirical evidence suggests that various
peony root preparations have broad therapeutic benefits for pain, muscle spasm, inflammation,
menstrual dysfunction, and neurodegenerative disorders, stroke (Wu 1985; Wu et al. 2010; Guo et

that possess multiple pharmacological properties, in particular neuroprotective effects. To date,

Anglo-Saxon Women
Anglo Saxon is a term to describe any Germanic people during the 5th century until the Norman
Conquest. Anglo Saxon, as discussed Is composed of 3 Germanic tribes; the Anglos, Saxons, and
the Jutes. They are also known as the last people who settled in Britain. They started out invading
with small number of people, then increased in number, then invaded different areas, and had
several kingdoms which were constantly in war at each other.
During the Anglo Saxons period, growing up for them is actually equal to both boys and girls.
Parents treat them equally like for example, it is not only boys who collects sticks for firewood,
it is not only boys who fetched water from a stream or well but girls as well. Maybe the only
difference when they grew up is that girls were centered to learn housekeeping skills while boys
learned the skills of their fathers. Although as time goes by men and women had different roles.

Open Carry Of Firearms Is Beneficial
Open Carry of Firearms Is Beneficial In America we have a constitution that states all the rights
and restrictions upon citizens. In the constitution, there is a huge controversy going on about the
second amendment, the right to bear arms. This amendment states that along with meeting
regulations, the American citizen is allowed to own and possess weapons of many forms. This
amendment is now under large amounts of scrutiny because of many things that have taken place
in recent history. In today s society, there are two sides to this controversy. There is the side that
says that gun rights should be heavily restricted and nearly taken away, and you have the side
that says that it is our right to own firearms. The side that says that America should restrict gun
rights basically blames all of the major events that happen for the worse on guns. The other side
says that all these major events are the result of poor decisions made by criminals that can get
their hands on weapons no matter what the law says. Openly carrying in America could help
eliminate this problem by making criminals think twice. In America there are many different views
on the ownership, transaction, and possession of firearms. In the United States Bill Of Rights it
says in the second amendment that, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a
free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. This is a very vague
statement that says no matter what the

White People In Montgomery
After learning about the boycott and searching on various websites about Rosa Parks and the
Montgomery boycott. I found that white people served an important role in this resistance
movement. After a period of time the boycott started, white people in Montgomery split into three
major groups. While most of the white peopleopposed the boycott with violent actions, some whites
still helped their African Americanemployees by providing transportation support. Another business
group who wanted to make profits from black, remained peaceful and negotiated with boycott
leaders.
Large amounts of white population in Montgomery went against the bus boycott and some even
used violent actions. The White Citizen s Council listed some of the telephone numbers of white
people who support the boycott, and numerous people made phone calls to complain about the
behavior of hauling African American. (S. Gratze) According to their behavior, we can concluded
that huge amounts of people dislike the boycott and took some actions. Ku Klux Klan, a white
supremacist group, bombed four black churches and the homes of prominent black leaders . Some

Sato san stated that the business community in Montgomery formed an organization called the Men
of Montgomery and tried to negotiate directly with the boycotters. Since businessman took their
money seriously in most cases and the resistance worked efficiently, they tried to reach an
agreement with boycott leaders. Unfortunately, the talk was proved to be a failure and finally
ended with no result. (Sato san) However, these actions made by white people didn t appear to be
common, they realized the tense situation and took their interest as the first place. The business
power in Montgomery had some influences in the boycott, and they negotiated with boycotters to

Dawn the Innovator in Brand Building
Jacquelyn Denton
American Intercontinental University
Abstract
Dawn has created a loyal fan base since its introduction in 1973. Dawn marketers utilized several
marketing techniques such as brand equity and positioning to remain the leader of dish soap
sales. Dawn has built brand equity by using the original Dawn to spring board their new
products such as the ultra concentrated Dawn with power scrubbers. Dawn positions itself in the
market by fulfilling the consumers need for a quality product. Dawn has given consumers a new
perspective as dish soap by being used to clean animals affected by the recent oil spill. The Dawn
brand is an example of how brand building is an essential factor for ... Show more content on

Dawn is a strong brand which increases Terri s positive attitude toward the Dawn brand. The
attitude is built based on the experience with the product. The website www.netMBA.com states,
The consumer s awareness and associations lead to perceived quality, inferred attributes, and
eventually, brand loyalty . (Brand Equity 2010). Terri s next set of questions concern brand
positioning. Dawn has a dominant place in Terri s mind. Positioning is the attempt of a brand to
occupy the space of a consumers mind. A more detailed definition comes from the AIU textbook
entitled Marketing Management which states, Positioning is the act of designing the company s
offering and image to occupy a distinctive place in the minds of the target market (Kotler Keller
2009).One drop of Dawn completing a sink full of dishes is the goal it helps consumers achieve.
Dawn positions itself has a unique liquid with power scrubbers. In the consumers mind they see
little power scrubbers that eat and destroy the grease particles in the water and on the dishes. No
other dish washing liquid claims to have tiny power scrubbers in their liquid that fight and destroy
grease. The interview with Terri is complete. Terri has a better understanding of why she feels
Dawn is the only dishwashing liquid she will use. The second part of the research will identify
how Dawn identifies market segments and targets? How has Dawn developed its brand

Budismo
Budismo
Ang Budismo o Budhismo (Sanskrit: Buddha Dharma, nangangahulugang: ang landas o batas ng
naliwanagan o ng gising ) ay isang relihiyon at pilosopiya na nakatuon sa mga aral ni Buddha
ЕљДЃkyamuni (SiddhДЃrtha Gautama), na marahil namuhay noong ika 5 siglo BCE.

Limited Liability Company ( Llc )
Alternative 1. Limited Liability Company (LLC)
The first alternative is a Limited Liability Company or abbreviated a LLC. As an LLC your
personal assets are protected from lawsuits and business debt, and only assets of your company
can be touched by lawsuits and creditors (Small Business Chron.com, 2015). With a LLC you have
plenty of advantages to include the benefit of always upgrading to another business organization
and having the security and peace of mind of limited liability. It is also easier to form than a
corporation. There are also disadvantages to include self employment taxes. Unless you choose to
be taxed like a corporation, LLCs are usually subject to self employment taxes. This means that the
profits of the LLC won t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Corporation
The second alternative is a corporation. One can form as an S corporation of C Corporation. A
C corporation is double taxed. The corporation pays taxes, as do the company s shareholders. S
corporations are single taxed. All taxation and business expenses are paid for by the company s
shareholders (Small Business Chron.com, 2015). There are some advantages to this form. You
are not personally liable for lawsuits and debt. It is easier to attract investors for your business.
S corporations are limited to a maximum of 100 shareholders and a C corporation can have
unlimited shareholders (Small Business Chron.com, 2015). The corporation is a stand alone
entity, which means you are not personally liable for the assets and debts of the business (Small
Business Chron.com, 2015). The stand alone entity also separates tax liabilities, which is
another advantage. This means that the corporation taxes are separate from your personal tax
liabilities. As a business owner, you are responsible for paying taxes only on the money the
corporation pays you in the form of a salary, commission or dividends this is on your personal
tax return. The corporation is responsible for paying corporate taxes (at the corporate tax rate) on
any profit the company makes (Small Business Chron.com, 2015). There are also some
disadvantages. First, the costs can be a disadvantage. One of the primary disadvantages of a
corporation is the costs for running a corporate form of

Effect of Antiseptic Handwashing vs Alcohol Hand Sanitizer
Effect of Antiseptic Handwashing vs Alcohol Sanitizer on Health Care Associated Infections in
Neonatal Intensive Care Units
Introduction
This article seeks to determine if alcohol hand sanitizers are as effective as
antiseptic handwashing at reducing or eliminating health care associated infections in a
neonatal intensive care unit. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta,
GA, recommends use of waterless alcohol hand products in lieu of traditional
handwashing for patient care, but there is little data demonstrating the impact of this
recommendation on health associated infections.

* Measurements of nurses skin condition and microbial density on hands compared using t test data
obtained via crossover studies. Hand hygiene practices were reported on nurse diary cards and
quality scores from direct observation were compared between products (ALC hand sanitizer
containing 61% ethanol and emollients or CHG antiseptic detergent containing 2% chlorhexidine
gluconate) with 10,000 patient days of follow up and overall infection rate of 14 per 1,000
patient days. * The study had more than 90% power to detect a risk ratio between the two
treatment groups of 1.6. For bloodstream infections with 5500 catheter days of follow up and a
rate of 17.5 per 1000 catheter days, we had 90% power to detect a risk ratio of 1.5. Additionally,
with 1500 infants, the study had 90% power to detect an odds ratio of 1.4.
Findings/Interpretation
Numerous studies have confirmed the efficacy of alcohol based products, reported
microbicidal effects of hand sanitizer containing 61% ethanol and emollients (ALC) as
good or superior to those of other antiseptics. Several studies have shown better removal
of methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus or vancomycin resistant enterococci from
the hands of health care workers by ALC when compared with antiseptic detergent
containing 2% chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG). A recent study by Pittet,, J.M., showed
over a three year period that when the use of alcohol rubs increased from 3.5 to 16.4

Blacks in America were once slaves. They had neither freedom nor rights. Now, in the 20th century, segregation has been abolished and discrimination has largely been reduced and blacks are more able to live freely as American citizens. In Early 1950 s, blacks did not have civil rights, so they had to fight for their freedom by protesting. In 1955, blacks decided to rally together for social justice and planned a boycott. This boycott became known as the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This boycott was pivotal in the Civil Right Movement by energizing blacks, particularly in the South, to become more involved in politics. The enforcement of the Jim Crow laws was one of the key factors for the Montgomery Bus Boycott, initiated by determined black women. People today know Rosa Parks as the pivotal for the main cause of Montgomery Bus Boycott, but it was not just her, it was also Claudette Colvin. She was one of the four women who got arrested nine months before Parks in March 1955. Colvin s situation was similar to Parks; Colvin refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery bus . Claudette was only fifteen years old at the time of the arrest. She was also a member of the NAACP Youth Council. The NAACP wanted to test the Montgomery Bus System by assigning black women to challenging the Jim Crow law on buses in Montgomery, AL. After her arrest, even though she was a youth, the NAACP thought Colvin would be their key to their rebellion, but could not happen because she later became pregnant. During her pregnancy, Colvin testified in the Montgomery federal court on the hearing of the Browder v. Gayle case. Her performance of that civil disobedience did not spark the bus boycott as Parks did, but did started something that Rosa Parks finished. The elevation of the bus conflict increased on December 1, 1955, when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person. There was a law that allowed white bus drivers to expand the whites ... • 3. Themes Of Marigolds And Miss Brill Sometimes one has to go through alienation and isolation to reach a transformation. In both Marigolds by Eugenia W. Collier and Miss Brill by Katherine Mansfield, the characters transform majorly due to their feelings of isolation. Marigolds is about a woman called Lizabeth recalling her coming of age experience and Miss Brillis about a lonely womanliving in a fantasy life that she has created for herself. The theme of alienation and a definitive transformation is evident in both stories. In Marigolds, the theme of alienation is not as noticeable as in Miss Brill, but still appears throughout the story. Every Sunday, while walking alone at the park, she witnesses what she call a play .. However, she is devastated when the only thing she considers herself to be attached to, her fur, is insulted by the girl. C Diff is a gram positive bacillus, which is spore forming. C Diff is one of the many superbug that health care workers and hospitals battle. There is a very large push by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to educate on hand hygiene and room decontamination for patients that have tested positive for C Diff in a health care setting. This is because the spread of the disease is through the fecal oral route, and with spores being able to live on contaminated surfaces for a long period of time. C Diff is an opportunistic infection, it will affect an individual whose flora in the intestines has been compromised by the treatment of antibiotics for a different infection like pneumonia, MRSA, etc... • 7. Herman Hesse s Well-Known Bildungsroman In Herman Hesse s well known Bildungsroman, Demian, the novel contains connections to both the Bible and Nietzsche , The Gay Science. These influences are seen in the chapter, Two Worlds and its similarity to Genesis; the mark of Cain and its connection to Thus Spoke Zarathustra, and the preparation for World War 2 to Nietzsche s concept of preparatory human beings. Hesse s influence from the Bible is seen in chapter one, Two Worlds through the similarity between Sinclair s childhood life and the story of the Fall in Genesis. Sinclair believes the world is divided into two, the world of light and the world of darkness. The world of light being love and strict rules, education and example (Hesse 3) Whereas, the world of dark is comprised... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Demian has major similarities to Nietzsche s, Thus Spoke Zarathustra which is seen through Hesse s mention of the mark of Cain. In chapter two, Cain , Sinclair and Demian are taught the story of Cain and Abel in school. As expected, the boys learn the story as it is told in the bible, Cain receives a mark on his forehead to indicate he is evil. However, Demian explains to Sinclair that he interpreted (the story) in a completely different way. (Hesse 22) Demian believes that the mark on Cain s forehead is not an indication of evil rather, it is a mark of power that threatened and scared everyone. When Sinclair and Demian part different ways after their conversation, Sinclair questions, he not himself a kind of Cain? (...) Why does he have such a power in his eyes, and why does he speak so scornfully about the others , the fearful ones, who, after all are actually pious and pleasing to G d? (Hesse 25) Hesse s inclusion of this quote is to reveal that Sinclair sees Demian as Cain, due to his sense of power and opposition from the others. Later, the reader learns that Sinclair also has the mark of Cain. Hesse demonstrates this when Sinclair and Demian are reunited as teenagers and Demian says, you ve changed. But you have the sign (...) we used to call it the mark of Cain. (Hesse 109) Demian defines those with the mark as, considered strange, even crazy and dangerous, by the rest of the world. We were awakened, or at least awakening; our efforts were directed toward ever more complete awareness, while others always longed to merge their opinions, ideals, and duties, their lives and their happiness, more and more closely with those of the herd. (Hesse 117) this quote indicates that having the mark of Cain implies that one separates oneself from mass thinking, the herd. A further meaning for the mark of Cain is shown when Demian says, felt that we embodied ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Within The Context Of American Society, We Have Strayed Within the context of American society, we have strayed from the true purpose and identity of what the church was originally created to be. When we hear the word, church, we think of a building, a mere location where believers gather together every Sunday. The church of America might believe the essential elements of the church are an air conditioned sanctuary, ten different ministry opportunities, and a full band to lead worship. While none of these things are necessarily bad, they do not comprise the biblical model of what the church was created to be. The church can be divided into two components: the Universal Church and the local church. Once a person becomes a believer, they are part of the Universal Church, the body of believers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus commands His listeners to repent for the Kingdom of God is near. In Acts 3:19, Peter says, Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. One cannot enter into a relationship with God without repentance, which is why it is the first essential element of the church. Repentance and faith in Christ turns a person away from his or her sin and allows that person to enter into the grace of God. Repentance is a central command of Christ to the church, and so it must be a central command in our churches today. The second characteristic Peter considers to be essential is baptism. Jesus himself was baptized; so believers of the church today must also be baptized. In Matthew 28:18 20, Jesus gives His final command as, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. If Jesus considered baptism worthy and necessary enough to be in His final command, it is something we should put into practice today. The command to be baptized is found multiple times throughout the book of Acts and also in the rest of New Testament, thus, making it an essential element of the church today. In Acts 22:16, Paul is told, And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name. Baptism is the first step of obedience as a ... Moreover, Veronica Roth has written a novel called Divergent. The novel takes place in a world composed of the ideology of identity where each person is divided into factions , places that tell how they think and behave. All things considered, the story identifies many components of self identity and symbolises it into a new take on how the human perceives individuality. However, she represents how human beings usually cope when faced with a disorderly circumstance. She describes her trait of diversity as if ‒someone breathed new air into my lungs. (Roth 442) Insignificance, acceptance is a huge step to recognising self identity. Tris has learned to define herself according to one of her most doubted moral. For instance, it was a huge breath for her to fully embrace her Divergent mind. Similarly, men and women can learn from this as a life lesson as the unexpected can be the most beneficial on how they perceive themselves. Nevertheless, Tris also relies on the brave and selfish persona as a Dauntless initiate. Despite lived in a brave new world of adventure she realises the true definition of her bravery and bravery among others. Beforehand, Tris used to live in a complete opposite of dauntless where those dwelling lived upon pillars of selflessness. In a mature talk with Four about her experience in Dauntless, she states ‒that selfishness and bravery aren t all that different. (Roth 336) Even when traits have a reasonable contrast, those opposite contracts. For instance, Tris finds similarity between a discrepancy. Thus, it symbolises that believing that each emotion of one s life builds upon each other creates a personality that can overcome the greatest of odds. For those of you who don t know what fentanyl is, it s a powerful opioid, 100 times stronger than morphine, that is often prescribed to help patients manage moderate to severe pain. As a highly addictive substance, many are now dependent on it, and it is one of the most frequent causes of drug overdose. Readily available for purchase online are quantities of pure fentanyl from China, but when improperly diluted in clandestine labs, it can lead to an immediate overdose. Recently, an antidote for opioid overdose called naloxonehas become available without prescription, so that anyone can use it. Fentanyl has become a severe problem in the past few years, and while we yet to find a way to eliminate dependence on this drug, we must keep those who use it safe. Developed in 1959 by a Belgian chemist, Fentanyl came into widespread use in the mid 1990s as a painkiller and anesthetic. With the widespread availability of this drug as a common prescription, it s not difficult to understand how easy it is to become dependant on. • 16. The Unified Science Center At Stockton For My Project I decided to choose the Unified Science Center at Stockton for my project because it is easily accessible to me, it is fairly new and as a business major student, I found the building to be very impressive. We business majors don t have a place to hang out or a quiet place to talk to people in our major. I normally just see people in the library or in the hallway and if we have to do schoolwork we just go to a computer lab. However, the Science and Math majors have a building full of labs and classrooms. In my opinion I felt like Stockton was trying to one up the Arts building with another new building. The two buildings are similar in the way they both function. The Art building is a good place for the Art majors to get creative for their assignments and while these students are surrounded by artwork they could feel more of an impact from the atmosphere. The Science Center is a good place to apply what the Science students have learned in class and apply it in a laboratory. Stockton University built this building to attract more science students. I think EYP did a great job designing the building. If you never entered the building before, you can just look at it from the outside and just tell that it is a building designed for Science majors. A composite material is a material made from two or more constituent materials with differing physical or chemical properties that when joined together, produce a material with characteristics different from the individual material. The individual component remains separate and unique from the finished structure. There are a few types of currently available composite materials, and they include carbon fibre, fiber glass and fibre reinforced matrix systems. In contrast, for traditional materials like aluminium, due to its nature, it bends and dents easily. [6] Therefore it is quite easy to find out if there is any structural damage. Based on experience, an aircraft would be grounded for a few days to repair on the composite material while only a few hours would be needed for a traditional metallic part. To reduce this effect, new technology has been created and plays an important role in reducing smelting related pollution. Ancient Aztec Art The modern concept of art as a form of individual expression would not have made much sense to most Aztec artists, particularly those in the visual arts painting, sculpture, and metalworking. For most Aztec artists their works were not meant to express feelings or thoughts, nor were they meant to be beautiful or pleasing to view. Art was almost entirely in the service of Aztec religion. Since the Aztec common people could not read, art was the central means of conveying the ideas and stories of the spirit world and communicating religious truths to them. The states filed a lawsuit against the major tobacco companies for Medicaid and costs incurred while treating the sick and dying cigarettesmokers. (Public Health Law Center, 2015) In 2012, the federal government took on an effort to attack the nation s tobacco addiction with a series of advertisements highlighting the grisly toll of smoking. By this he means their ability to be rational, to exercise reason and to speak; the act of putting words in an orderly fashion to express thoughts. While the deaf and the dumb lack this possession, they have the ability to speak through a different language, sign language (p.31). Parrots in contrast, have the ability to speak but lack the comprehension to express higher levels of thought (p.31). Language is a learnt behavior. If Descartes thought of language as a measure of intelligence, then Washoe a chimp who has been taught to communicate through American Sign Language (ASL) would be a refutable example of this statement. Critics argued that the chimps were only taught to mimic, but Washoe shocked researchers when she taught her adopted son Loulis about 50 ASL signs without researchers intervention2. Other stories, however, lead the reader on a journey from the beginning to end, and they grow lost between what the focus of the novel and what other subplots are trying to establish. Although it is immoral for one to reveal another s private life, the barrier between public and private lives must be torn down when the public benefits, whether by the intruder or the individual in question himself. His last words, I can t breathe, were captured on video and shared millions of times while he was fading in and out of consciousness. While the bystander capturing the video may have intruded into his privacy, that moment was a necessary mingling of public and private because it personified the outrage present in society. In doing so, the bystanders demonstrated to a broad audience the injustice present in society. The dual nature of an individual s public and private personas also exactly demonstrates the necessity in breaching personal privacy, for individuals may have a different personal agenda than the public faГ§ade they create. Given the grand stage on which these commercials air, it is important that we analyze them in their proper context. Remember, this is a sporting event, one in which only men are allowed to participate (as athletes/coaches), where violent collisions are celebrated, and where most of the audience is male. Considering these gendered parameters, we should not be surprised that many of the 2012 Super Bowl commercials ooze hegemonic masculinity. In this post David Mayeda explores how a masculinity can be used to opress men and women alike. Back in 1987, Raewyn Connell coined the term hegemonic masculinity in a seminal text, Gender Power. Hegemonic masculinity refers to the dominant form of masculinity that exists within a particular culture. Relative to this ever changing, idealized form of masculinity are different subordinated masculinities those within a culture that do not live up to the so called masculine gold standard. Put simply, there are real men and then there are all other men. In watching the 2012 Super Bowl commercials, we can see versions of hegemonic masculinity demonstrated. It describes the beginning of the process of Anglicization in a relatively remote Gaelic speaking area during the 1833 Survey of Ireland, in which the English mapped Ireland, both culturally and geographically. Years of concerted anglicizing of the Irish by the British early in the 19th century led to the widespread fall into disuse of the native Gaelic tongue. His central view is that the Gaelic language is the most important aspect of an Irish identity distinct to that of the British, and that only a return to Ireland s native language can halt the process of Anglicization. However, he is careful not to make the claim that nothing English is of value, but emphasizes the necessity of not neglecting that which is essentially Irish. In the constitution, there is a huge controversy going on about the second amendment, the right to bear arms. This amendment states that along with meeting regulations, the American citizen is allowed to own and possess weapons of many forms. This amendment is now under large amounts of scrutiny because of many things that have taken place in recent history. In today s society, there are two sides to this controversy. There is the side that says that gun rights should be heavily restricted and nearly taken away, and you have the side that says that it is our right to own firearms. The side that says that America should restrict gun rights basically blames all of the major events that happen for the worse on guns. The other side says that all these major events are the result of poor decisions made by criminals that can get their hands on weapons no matter what the law says.
