Should You Get an MBA Before Launching Your Startup? The Value of an MBA or Business
Education in Today s Competitive Arena for Entrepreneurship
Engineers, self made entrepreneurs and bootstrap enthusiasts believe that the right person with the
right work ethic can succeed in business with a good idea activated at the right time. However, in
today s complex, collaborative and highly technical business environment, a degree in business or
at least some strong business courses can give you the knowledge and tools to handle a startup like
a pro and reduce the learning curve that always appears in any business startup. Managing Growth

The Graduate Management Admission Council s Alumni Perspectives Report chronicles a rise in
the number of business graduates who start their own businesses. Entrepreneurs are growing
younger, better educated and committed to applying business skills to their own startup ideas. [3]
Although the demands of modern marketing, software implementations and integrating software
applications into sales platforms make it difficult to succeed in business without a thorough
grounding in modern sales, marketing and financing techniques, experienced engineers often
succeed in business without receiving formal educations on standard business practices. The
United States encourages this technology boom with its West Coast IT industry headquartered in
Silicon Valley and other areas. Education is a big key to business success even if it isn t limited
to business courses. Engineers, coders and developers are coming up with big ideas, but it often
takes people with business backgrounds to transform these ideas into practical ideas for sales and
marketing. Benefits of Getting a Business Degree
The benefits of getting a business degree can set you up for business success even if your
revolutionary idea for a startup doesn t succeed. Although there s no single path to business
success. A business degree and ideally an MBA will stand you in good stead when you encounter
typical business problems as your company grows. The benefits of

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised By Gil Scott Heron
In the 1960s, the Civil rights movement faced many challenges, a lack of media was one of them.
The media managed to cover a lot of the events that happened during the movement. However, the
media coverage still failed to bring the right amount of attention to the issue at hand. T.V. shows
and advertisements did not change or show any support. Even though a change was taking place,
the messages were not being shown to the American public. With that being said, the black power
movement had a saying for this The Revolution Will Not Be Televised .
The Revolution Will Not be Televised was written by Gil Scott Heronin 1970. This was during the
time after the Civil right movement was big. Equality was still a struggle, but things were coming
along, as blacks were finally getting some notice in things. The Government treated black like
they did not exist and were very corrupt, which is why he wrote this poem. Born on April 1, 1949,
Gil Scott Heron was raised by his maternal grandmother, Lillie Scott, In Jackson Tennessee. He
later moved to New York, after his grandmother died, at the age of 12. He went to a high school in
the Bronx and attended Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, eventually settling down in Manhattan.
He met Brian Jackson during the time he was attending Lincoln University and later founded the
Black Blues band. There were about nine members in the group, but according to Scott Heron he
was arguably not the most important voice

Overview of the Immune System and Cells
The immune system has dual natures in series with non self/self recognition being the most
important. Other natures are adaptive/nature or acquired/innate, secondary/primary, passive/active,
humoral/cell mediated and some parts or antigen specific. Antigen specific means when it
recognizes certain antigens it will act upon them. Some pats are systemic which is the don t just
stay at the infected area but go through the body and they have memory, so when they come the
same antigen again they know, they will attack it even stronger. The non self/self recognition is
every cell has marker based on the major histocompatibility complex and cells without this marker
or attacked as non self. This works so well that proteins that are not digested treated the same as
antigens.
There are certain diseases that break down the immune system and it attacks the self cells. These
diseases are called autoimmune and some of these are forms of diabetes and arthritis, systemic
lupus erythematosus and multiple sclerosis. When the immune system responds inappropriately to
innocuous substances such as allergies, this is called allergen.
The two fluid systems are the lymph and blood system are responsible for transporting the immune
systems agents through the body. The blood system contains five liters of blood which is about
seven percent of a person s body weight. Blood is made of fifty two to sixty two percent liquid
plasma and thirty eight to forty

Berlin Urban Voids
ARC303 Urban (Hi)Stories Berlin in Twentieth Century: Politics and Culture An Urban
(Hi)Stories about Voids Introduction: Berlin as Void In an official advertisement campaign of
1996, there was a slogan written all over the city: Berlin wird (Berlin becomes). But Berlin
becomes what ? Instead of a proper predicate, we get a verbal void. In the worst scenario, as Karl
Scheffler wrote at the end of his classic 1910 portrait of the city, Berlin may forever to become and
never to be. The twentieth century urban history of Berlin was largely associated with the concept
of voids. The voids that were created by the unique apartment buildings, also known as
Mietkasernen with enclosed inner courtyards. Only one decade later, Albert Speer intended to create

This city s history has been written, erased, and rewritten throughout this violent century. Its
legibility relies as much on visible markers of built space as on images and memories repressed and
ruptured by traumatic events. At the start of the Twentieth century, Berlin s future would have
followed a completely different direction. In Walter Ruttmann s 1927 film Berlin: Symphony of a
Metropolis, the editing draws a large amount of the graphic and thematic parallels of a different
group of people s routine working life, people with machines or people and animals throughout the
city. It shows a highly lawful social condition. Even the conflicts and movements shown throughout
the film are coordinated in rhythmic and systematic order, forming a harmonious symphony about
the metropolitan. (Fig.1) This scene of flourishing united urban environment in the Weimar
Republic supposed to show a bright future of the city yet gradually lost in the following decades.
As the war destroyed tons of buildings in Berlin, left overwhelming ruins, the creation of voids in
this city by the politics was only about to begin. (Fig.2,

Meet, Meat Industry Essay
When people think of the cow that their burger comes from, they think of a peaceful, fenced in
field with cows grazing lazily. In reality that beef comes from a cow who is forced to eat
something it cannot digest, in a cramped, loud feedlot, covered in feces. Big business has worked
hard to hide the reality of food origin. The American government should create legislation that
would eliminate this problem. Research is being done with invitro meat, otherwise known as lab
grown meat. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) should approve invitro meat for human
consumption. Animal cruelty caused by the farming industry and large companies is a huge
problem that can be avoided with scientific advancements in lab grown meat. The American... Show

When meat arrives in the supermarkets, it appears in neat and nicely wrapped packages under
bright lighting; fresh, clean and detached from its source, sometimes ground or covered in
spices, and largely cut in such a way that we cannot even tell by looking which part of the animal
the tissue comes from (Hopkins 580). There is already a missing link in our knowledge about
the meat people eat, so lab grown should be an easy transition onto the shelves. The
bioengineering required to make invitro meat is an offshoot of the technologies being developed
to grow tissue from stem cells for medical transplants. Researchers in the Netherlands grew a small
amount of pork from harvested pig cells, so lab produced meat could be on the menu within five
years (Grose 1). These are not meat substitutes, or artificial meat, or meat like substances that are
conglomerations of soy products and gelatins, it is genuine meat, genuine animal muscle tissue that
requires no animal suffering and no animal death to produce (Hopkins 581).
Lab grown meat can grow in a few different ways. Meat is already cultured on small and early
scales using a variety of basic procedures (Hopkins 582). One of the ways is called scaffolding.
Using scaffolds relies on self organization of cell in muscles. Growth of the cells happens on small
beads or mesh suspended in growth medium (Hopkins 582). Different growth mediums are being
used for trials. Some mediums are algae, fetal bovine serum, or

Taran Swan Essay
Taran Swan s story as general manager of Nickelodeon Latin America is a true pattern of
successful leadership in building organizations. She manages to foster a great team of people who
would feel equal and work together to achieve a common goal that she manages to set without
exercising authority. Furthermore she manages to make everyone feel equal in their ideas by
allowing discussions rather than exercising power. Her managementis extremely effective when the
company was being created but at the same time, as her team increased she kept the tight working
style which guarantees success in the long run even if she is not present. Although the case study

However, Taran Swan successfully identifies her main recourse and advantage the Nickelodeon
brand and philosophy. Although her managers at Nickelodeon where unsure about the success that
can be achieved in Latin America, she took the challenge to try and convince them that the market
is ready. As she noted there were not that many opportunities to enter the competition and she fails
most probably there won t be another shot. Quickly she manages to overcome what proves to be her
greatest challenge the unfamiliar environment.
Starting with a brand and full of ideas, the first key step that Taran Swan executes is the
establishment of her great team. Her strategy of recruiting talented, open minded people is a
very firm base of the future company. Her personal involvement with all of her staff is vital for
her future style of leading who foster communication between people in a very productive
environment. She has faith in the people she has chosen to be part of Nickelodeon Latin America
and firths for every single one of them, as in the case of McCarty and Friedman. She is extremely
successful in creating the perfect environment for people to discuss, question and reason their ideas
and views. She rarely applies her authority and at the same time by adjusting small pieces of the
machine that she has created the company leaps forward. In such a hostile and unfamiliar

story collection entitled The Unknown Errors of Our Lives. It shows that like other Diaspora texts

female protagonists of the stories: uprootedness, utter alienation, perilous danger, racial
discrimination, afflicted hardships, immanent brooding of haunting tension, vain repentance,
irretrievable loss, constant homesickness, nostalgic longing, identity crisis, Trishanku existence,

Masculinity In Medea
Throughout the Greek tragedy Medea, many characters have acted in a way that proves Foucault
s idea that power controls us. Medea lacks true freedom and the men in this Greek tragedy say
that being a woman is easy, but it s very challenging. Medea attempts to play the role of men and
performs traditional roles of masculinity, but cannot fully fulfill the role because of her status as a
woman. Foucault would consider Medeato be mimicking the same power elimination that Jasondid.
He was able to get the trust of Medea, by allowing her to slave the dragon, and deceive her father.
Once, he got her trust he then betrayed her. Medea s revenge is dictated by a masculine regime of
truth.
Medea being under a particular regime of truth that is incredibly masculine allows her anger to
turn into revenge and her want for power causes her to think about death. She does not know any
other way; she has learned that this tactic is how you gain power. She says, for I shall kill the
children, my own ones (22). The death of her children becomes symbolic of revenge. The boys are

men who went to win the Golden Fleece for Pelias (1). A dragon guarded the fleece and Medea
helped Jason retrieve it with her so called magic . In the eyes of Foucault it could be seen that by
baring her children Medea accomplished the equivalent of Jason retrieving the Golden Fleece.

A Research Study On Regenerative Medicine And Transplantation
Regenerative medicine and transplantation is the recent advancement in the field of scientific
medical research embarking on the evolvement of embryonic stem cells(ESCs)and
reprogrammed human somatic cells called induced pleuri potent stem cells(iPSCs) .Human
embryonic stem cells were first derived in 1998 by Thomson et al. and induced pleuri potent
stem cells(iPSCs) in 2007(Thai Journal of Obstetrics and GynaecologyApril 2013) The innate
proficiency of the human embryonic stem cells to differentiate into multiple cell lineages i.e
pluripotency and worthy of self renewal score them as invaluable sources in therapeutic and
diagnostic field. However, there are some impediments seen in the generation and utilisation of
these ESCs as some countries believe that isolation of ESCS from embryos is detrimental to the
embryos and as they are not patient specific , auto rejection is observed in some cases. (Thai
Journal of Obstetrics and GynaecologyApril 2013) To overcome this, scientists have identified
iPSCs by reprogramming of certain somatic cells. Vivid progression in the remedy of infertility
will be possible with the transformation of germ cells from stem cells. The mechanism of
differentiation of ES cells in vitro and in vivo are not well inferred due to limited number of
oocytes available through donation programmes. Functional or mature gametes have fail to develop

and upon their sudden Approach, I immediately ordered our Militia to disperse, and not to fire:
Immediately said troops made their appearance and rushed furiously, fired upon, and killed eight

they searched and greatly abused us... (Resource Sheet #2)I also think that the last resource isn t
entirely true. The text states, ...she was surprised by the firing of the king s troops and our people,

Real Hero Definition
What is a hero?
A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of
overwhelming obstacles. Christopher Reeve
What do you think of when you hear the word hero? Do you think of someone saving another
person? How about a man with big muscles? Do you think of your parents? When I first thought of
a hero, I imagined someone saving another from a burning fire. However, thinking more about it
I realized that a hero isn t just someone who saves people, they can be anybody. A hero is brave,
courageous, selfless, honest, and determined. The qualities in a real hero are often missed or
overlooked. We expect them to look like superman, when in reality, that isn t a real hero at all.

The invented characters of calligraphy allowed for an interesting and pleasing presentation for
artists and readers.
Gia Gu Wen or Jia Gu Wen is considered among the very first characters to be discovered even
though it was not fully mature. Oracle bones present some of the very earliest and most ancient
examples of Chinese calligraphy. The best way of understanding calligraphy, however, has been
linked to the political authority and rituals Tregear, 1980, p. 87). When looked at from that
perspective, the calligraphy can easily be traced and its meaning be understood. Various reigns and
dynasties in China have had documented literature and cultural rituals. Looking at each and every
one of them allows a person to trace the Chinese calligraphy through time. Dynastic literature
After the unification of chine back in 221 BC, the short lived unity saw the burning of thousands
of writing s and literature material by the emperor to ensure that classical writings were not
available for the public. This created a daunting task for the subsequent dynasty since it had to re
establish and reconstruct a fresh the texts and literature that were considered classics. The dynasties
that followed saw the importance of documentation and clear preservation of any form of literature
for posterity. The Chinese culture and way of life has been among the few that have retained ties
with ancient times. The art world in china as in most Asian countries,

As the flame of revolution spread throughout the world, the ideas of a better government were
shared; The American Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence and The Declaration of the
Rights of Man show how France and America borrowed ideas during a trying time in the country.
The Declaration of Independence was written during the beginning battles of the American
Revolution and not long after France followed suit with the Declaration of the Rights of Man and

Without the Declaration of Independence, disgruntled colonists would not have been brought
together to fight for the cause. During the revolution soldiers stood together as one, setting
brother equal to brother. In a similar manner, the Bill of Rights united the colonists in mindset;
that every man should be allowed rights. The Bill of Rights corrected many of the wrongdoings
by the English government that made the colonists revolt, to prevent a revolution from
happening in America. The Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights unified the nation
as a whole. It is no surprise that the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen and the
American Bill of rights share many similarities. The Bill of Rights restated many ideas from the
Virginia Declaration of Rights, crafted by George Mason. The Declaration of the Rights of Man
was also influenced by Mason s ideas during the framing of the document. Both pieces were
heavily influenced by John Locke s philosophies of every man s right to life, liberty and the pursuit

Aristotle Citizen
According to the words of Aristotle, a city state is viewed as a natural organization that is
comprised of a large sum of individuals who share a common goal but hold unique identities. He
mentioned the following, For a city is by nature a mass of people; as it becomes more and more
unified, first the citywill turn into a household, and then the household will turn into just one
person for we would say that a household is more unified than a city, and one person more unified
than a household. And so, even if someone were capable of completely unifying a city, he should
not do it, since he would destroy the city. (Aristotle, page 292) The common goal here, is to allow

Aristotle addresses the question about who should be fit to rule. He answers this by stating that
good ruling is done by those who are intelligent have learned the necessarily skills to rule a city
state. Aristotle states the following, First, we must understand the received formulae of oligarchy
and democracy, and the oligarchic and democratic justice; for everyone touches on some sort of
justice, but the make only limited progress and do not describe the whole of what is fully just.
Justice seems to be equality, for instance, and indeed it is but for equals, not for everyone. Again,
inequality seems to be just; and so it is but for unequals, not for everyone. But these omit this part
equality or inequality for whom and so make the wrong judgment. The reason is that they are
giving judgment in their own case, and most people are practically always bad judges in their own

disproportionate representation of the majority. Given the circumstances, only citizens (those born

How Is George Justified In Of Mice And Men
In life, people are faced with tough decisions every day. In the novelette Of Mice and Men,
written by John Steinbeck, George was forced to make a tough decision and ended up
euthanizing Lennie. George was put in this situation because Lennie killed Curley s wife. He
kills Lennie to protect him from society as well as protect society from Lennie. Also, Lennie is
unable to make decisions on his own, so he always looks to George for answers. Though Lennie
s death may seem like a murder, George s actions are justified when he kills Lennie due to the
reason that it was a mercy killing. George kills Lennie because he poses a threat to society since
he does not know his own strengths. In Weed, Lennie harassed a girl, but George was there to
stop him before he could cause any serious harm. However, at the ranch, George was not there to

Certainty And Doubt In My Writing Work
While struggling with puzzling and complex events I came to a deeper understanding of constant
questioning and doubting as the utmost ability in my writing work...as Voltaire noted that doubt

The Horrible And Gruesome Events Of The Holocaust
The author of Night, a novel documenting the horrible and gruesome events of the holocaust, Elie
Wiesel expresses his experiences and observations in which he and his fellow Jews were
dehumanized while living in concentration camps (a hell on earth). All Jews, as a race were
brutalized by the Nazis during this time; reducing them to no less than objects, positions which
meant nothing to them, belongings that were a nuisance. Nazis would gather every Jew that they
could find and bring them to these infernos, separating the men and women. Families, not knowing
it would never see each other again. Individuals within the categories were divided even more,
based on their health, strength, and age. They would be judged by a Nazi officer, which would then
decide their fate, if they would have the opportunity to live or if they would be sentenced strait to
execution. In these camps, babies became target practice, being tossed in the air like an object with
no significant value and shot at with no remorse. The more mature could be sentenced to execution,
tossed into pits of fire while fully conscious burning them alive. In addition, the ones who passed
inspection received treatment as if they were slaves and dogs, making them follow any command,
any disobeying of these demands would consequence them to be shot without hesitation. These
dehumanizing crimes were the punishments forced on the Jewish race by the Nazi influence,

Rico Act Essay
The RICO Act has been an important component in addressing organized and white collar crime.
Write a five page (double spaced) essay that summarizes the RICO Act and its impact on organized
and white collar crime. Be sure to support your thoughts with information from our readings.
Rico Act Essay
The term Rico Act stands for the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act,
Codified as chapter 96, Title 18, of the United States Code which was passed by Congress in
1970. The purpose of the Act was to eliminate the ill affects of organized crimeon the nation s

Those found guilty of racketeering can be fined up to $25,000 and sentenced to 20 years in
prison per racketeering count. In addition, the racketeer must forfeit all ill gotten gains and
interest in any business gained through a pattern of racketeering activity. RICO also permits a
private individual harmed by the actions of such an enterprise to file a civil lawsuit and collect
monetary damages. Despite its harsh provisions, a RICO related charge is considered easy to
prove in court, as it focuses on patterns of behavior as opposed to criminal acts.
Although some of the RICO predicate acts are extortion and blackmail, one of the most successful
applications of the RICO laws has been the ability to indict or sanction individuals for their behavior
and actions committed against witnesses and victims in alleged retaliation or retribution for
cooperating with federal law enforcement or intelligence agencies. Unfortunately, due to the
complexity of bringing organized crime members to justice, ten years passed before the first RICO
convictions were obtained. Throughout the 1970s crime families continually fought for power over
the many racketeering enterprises that brought in huge sums of money. The National Conference
on Organized Crime in 1975 estimated that mob

Summary Of The Beautiful North
A Journey to the North Into the Beautiful north is an awesome novel that relates they story of
Nayeli, a nineteen years old girl and her three friends that decided to migrate to the United States
to hire seven men to defend their little town from some drug traffickers that arrived to their
village. But going north was not an easy journey for Nayeli and her friends. They have so many
trouble on their way to Tijuana. In this research paper there is a review of the scenes in the
Tijuana garbage dump in chapter 12, where immigrants belongings were stolen and they have to
face several dangerous situations. When they arrived to Tijuana, they found out their baggage
got lost, and the driver did not respond for it. So there they are, with no personal belongings and
very little money. Luckily, they meet Don Porfirio and his wife Aracely who offered them a
place to sleep. Aracely and Don Porfirio are a Mixtec Indian couple that come north to Tijuana
to find work and earn some money. Nayeli did not know if she can trust them, but she had no
other options. She and her friends accepted the offer and took the buss with Don Porfirio and
Aracely towards, what they described as, a humble home. The bus stopped near a trash dump.
Don Porfirio described the dump as Home . In fact, Urrea relates that Baptist missionaries have
built their home out of old garage doors smuggled in from San Diego. For Nayeli it was a long sad

Nitration of Methyl Benzoate
NITRATION
OF
METHYL
BENZOATE

 Purpose:
The main objective
of this experiment was to synthesize methyl nitrobenzoate from methyl benzoate, using the mixture
of nitric and sulfuric acid by performing the process of electrophillic aromatic substitution. During
this reaction, the combination of HNO3 and H2SO4 made a nitrating solution. The crystallization
was done to accomplish pure product. The melting point and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC)
were performed to test the purity of the product. Using the methyl benzoate reaction product,
methyl nitrobenzoate, one can determine the meta substituted, para substituted and orthosubstituted
of the final products. Furthermore, HNMR and IR used to investigate the quality of the product....

This would indicate that during the recrystallization there was a reduction in the percentage yield
of the production. The obtained final product melting point rang was 76.2 780C. This would
show that the experimental melting point was very close to the literature value of 78 80В°C
which denotes the meta substituted of the product. So, the analysis of the melting point confirmed
that the product was methyl meta nitrobenzoate as it was anticipated. Additionally, use of the
melting point analysis shows that NO2 group could be added to the methyl benzoate at the meta
position successfully. The ortho and para products could have been also analyzed during the
experiment; however, they were not chosen for the product (methyl benzoate) because they have
unstable resonance forms that have positive charges near one another. The two positive charges
that are next to one another can make the product to be unstable and as result ortho and para
substituted products are not favorable in this electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction. Also,
an IR of the product confirmed that methyl m nitrobenzoate as a favorable. A peak located at

Disconnection Essay
When people are feeling down or there is something wrong with them they tend to disconnect from
the world and go into one of their own. In this place they find comfort and safety and it is
somewhere that no one can bother them for the time being. I myself find comfort just lying in my
bed staring at the ceiling and drifting off in thought. For artiststhough, they are able to find this
comforting place in music. Blink 182, Linkin Park, and NAS are some of the famous artists that are
able to disconnect from the world through their songs. They are able to get all of there thoughts out
through music and the world has a chance to hear them.

The best example of feeling disconnected come from the lyrics of Blink 182 s quot;Adam s song

had been on tour for months entertaining people and he never had anytime for himself so all he
wanted to do was be alone and not have to make anyone but himself happy.
Song writers are excellent on expressing their feeling os disconnection from he world because they
usually never have anytime to be themselves so they express is through song. I think that everyone
needs time to disconnect in one way or another. It gives you time to be by yourself and think about

Pharma Company Restructuring Plan Accounting Under IFRSs U.S. GAAP
Introduction and Background
Pharma Company is a U.S. based subsidiary of a U.K. organization and prepares its financial
statements in accordance with both U. S GAAP (for reporting to its U.S. based lender) and IFRSs
(for reporting to its U.K. parent). As part of a restructuring plan for one of their business lines,
Pharma Company is considering the relocation of a manufacturing operation from its current
location in Bellvue, Oklahoma to a new facility in a separate geographic location. Due to the
restructuring plan put in place, Pharma Company has taken several actions which are listed below:

Pharma Company has also entered into irrevocable contracts that will affect the restructuring plan
over the next 18 months. In addition, the cost to dismantle the existing manufacturing operation is
estimated at $1 million but has yet to be finalized. Though Pharma Company is under no legal
obligation to perform the dismantling (and have not done so during past restructuring plans) they
have stated their plans to dismantle the Bellvue facility in a press release.
Issues
Several issues arise for Pharma Company as a result of their planned relocation. The main issue is
whether or not to record a restructuring provision for the relocation plan under both IFRSs and
U.S. GAAP. The subsequent issues are which of the incurred costs should be included in the
possible restructuring provision and when they should be accrued under both IFRSs and U.S.
GAAP. These include deciding on whether to recognize (1) the leasetermination liability, (2) the
one time termination benefit liability, (3) the $500,000 cost of relocation, $1.5 million staff
training, and any irrevocable contract costs, as well as (4) any dismantling costs for the year ended
December 31, 2011.
Brief Overview of Conclusions
After review of the primary issue it has been discovered that (in accordance with both U.S. GAAP
and IFRSs guidelines) Pharma Company s plan to relocate its manufacturing operation meets the

Rhetorical Appeals In I Have A Dream Speech
During the 1960s, racism and discrimination were an enormous issue in the United States. To
highlight problems with African Americans Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave one of the greatest
speeches in modern history when he spoke the words I Have a Dream on August 28, 1963. King
began his speech by saying, I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as
the greatest demonstration of freedom in the history of our nation (King). He emphasized on the
racial injustice and his dream for unifying society to bring equilibrium back. Throughout the speech,
he used a very sophisticated voice and kept the audience engaged while carefully choosing the
language and structure of his speech. Using keywords like we, our, dream, justice, freedom on his
speech, King highlighted the importance of the theme.
While listening and reading the speech, the civil rights leader divided his speech into two halves.
The first half of the speech he is emphasizing on the injustice toward the African Americans, and the
second half he talks about the future of the Nation living the American dream equally and united.

Animal Farm Literary Analysis
George Orwell, the writer of Animal Farm, Why I Write, and Politics and Language, was arguably
one of the most influential writers of the 1900s. Orwell has written multiple pieces of literature
that have helped him develop his purpose, which is to spread the message that power corrupts and
absolute power corrupts absolutely. Ultimately, Orwell effectively fuses his political and artistic
purpose into a single powerful work of art in his short novel Animal Farm.
One of Orwell s most influential political novels is Animal Farm. Animal Farm is a book about a
group about mistreated and abused animals who overthrow their neglectful owner and form a
new society. Although their society is formed around the idea of equality, it still resulted in chaos.
Orwell wrote Animal Farm as a response to communism in the Russian Revolution. Communism
is extremely similar to the way things worked on Animal Farm... communism always started off
with positive intentions, but ended in chaos. In the novel, Orwell does a good job of showing the
reader that the animals are not undergoing the best conditions, Towards the end of the book,
Orwell says, Starvation seemed to star them in the face. Orwell s novel is filled with symbolism
and irony which helps us infer the specific events and people he references in the book. Orwell
achieved his purpose in the book Animal Farm by shifting the hopeful tone to one of despair.

Disadvantages of Biofuel Production
According to this article written by David Pimentel, Alison Marklein, Megan A. Toth, Marissa N.
Karpoff, Gillian S. Paul, Robert McCormack, Joanna Kyriazis, and Tim Krueger, the production of
biofuels is not only energetically wasteful in most circumstances, but it is also causing food
shortages throughout the world. By creating biofuels throughout United States, we are not only
using up valuable farmlands, but we are actually becoming more dependent upon foreign oil.
Throughout this article several statistics are given to show how energetically unfavorable the
production of biofuels really is. Not only does the production of biofuels require huge amounts of
resources like water, cropland, and chemical fertilizers, but in many cases it also consumes more
net energy in fossil fuels than it produces in alternative energy resources. Some examples of biofuel
production throughout the world include biomass resources, corn ethanol, grass and cellulosic
ethanol, soybean biodiesel, and algae for oil production.
Renewable biomass resources on planet Earth amount to nearly 92 quads or 19% of the global
energy use per year. One quad is equal to 1 quadrillion or 1015 BTU s. To place this into
perspective, a little over 1,000 BTU s are in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The majority of
these biomass resources come from wood harvested from forests throughout the world. Included in
this biomass calculation is the total forest biomass production that yields 38 quads or 8% of the

Paleolithic Vs Neolithic Research Paper
I would prefer living in the Paleolithic Era and the Neolithic Era.
One main reason is that the Paleolithic men were much healthier than the Neolithic men in the
ways that, Paleolithic men were foragers and they moved their food which led them to not staying
in one spot permanently. This means that sickness and diseases were not easily passed on. Unlike
the Neolithic men who did have permanent settlements and had illness passed around quite easily.
Also it says in the passage Old Stone Age vs. New Stone Age that The adoption of grains in the
Neolithic era coincided with a shortening of stature, thinner bones and crooked, cavity ridden teeth.
Since Paleolithic Era did not domesticated grains they only ate wild grains they were taller, ... Show

They created created language by using symbolic language (using symbols or sounds to
communicate) and collective learning (telling other people about your discoveries so they can use
it and the information does not die). Although the Neolithic man did create some very important
discoveries too (the wheel, calendars, time keeping etc.) they would not have able to make these
discoveries without language.
Another reason is that the Paleolithic people had a healthy balanced diet. The Paleolithic people
had a main diet of meat, fruits, vegetables, and wild grains. Whereto the Neolithic people had a
main diet of wheat, yams, corn, rice, and maze. As we ve seen in paragraph one grains make your
bones thinner, decrease your height, and make you have crooked teeth. Therefore the Paleolithic
people had a better balanced diet which allowed them to be healthier.
My fourth reason is that you are a farmer (Neolithic) and one year you have bad weather and
your crops don t grow. Now you have very little if any food. That doesn t just effect a couple of
people though. That effect your whole clan or colony which can be a lot of people. Whereto if
your a forager (Paleolithic) and you don t have a permanent settlement then if one year you have
bad weather you don t need to stress about it because you can move like you do anyway for your

Presentation In The Military
Presentations can be unforgettable. They cause us to envision possibilities and contemplate the
future. Unfortunately they can also be unforgettable in how they make us suffer. They can be
tedious. Both examples were apparent during my 24 year career in the military.
Bovee and Thill state, Planning oral presentations are much like planning any other business
message: You analyze the situation, gather information, select the right medium, and organize the
information (p.434). Presentations in my organization accomplish this and other times don t.
Usually one can tell when this has been done and when it hasn t. Several are effective and others
aren t.
There are basic reasons why specific presentations capture attention and certain don t. One of the
biggest problems with presentations in our workplace is, redundancy. They pound the same
information repeatedly. There have been presentations delivered, where person decided that a word
or point needed to change that would create little to no difference in the presentation; however, we
would be required to view another presentation of the same material, occasionally less than a
month after having it presented. This goes against one of Bovee and Thills purpose for a message,

T.J is foolish, sneaky, and dishonest. In the end, this leads to his near death experience. In this

and now he has Stacey Logan s mom for a teacher. With Stacey being his best friend, T.J tries to

from Uncle Hammer. It was a little big, but it was way nicer than the one that he had before. T.J
really wanted the coat, so he tricked Stacey into giving it to him. He did this by saying that other
kids were making fun of him, saying that he looked like a preacher. Stacey felt embarrassed, and
gave the coat to T.J when he told him that he would give it back, after he grew into it. This shows
that Stacey was foolish to listen to T.J, but it also shows how sneaky T.J can really be. T.J is
sneaky in many ways in this book. Another example was when he was talking about how he gets
out of his cores and other work that needs to be done at his house. He told Stacey that whenever
there is work that has to be done, and someone has to go somewhere to get it done, he volunteers
himself to do it. Then when he goes, he spends the whole day being gone, so that when he gets
back, all the rest of the work is done. See, fellows, there s a system to getting out of work. Jus

The Creation Of The New German Nation, Or What Would Become
The creation of the new German nation, or what would become known as the German Unification,
mirrored similar revolutions around the globe, including that of the Meiji Restoration and the Ita

remains in uncertain territories, is whether this new German Empirewas created from above or
below. Neither position can be disregarded or invalidated, as the power of the people holds equal
significance to that of the people in power. However, as clearly highlighted by Ernest Renan in a

the Poles were the butt of historic German feelings of superiority , as they d generally found

Examples Of Gothic Trope In Australia Directed By Baz Lurhman
Hello and welcome back to FNS. On today s episode, we ll be focusing on the Australian film
industry, and more specifically, how the gothic trope of the Australian outback is manipulated to
present Australian identity. One of the better examples of this manipulation is the movie Australia,
directed by Baz Lurhman. Lurhman has used narrative, aesthetic and cinematic techniques to distort
and manipulate the gothic trope throughout the film.
Gothic is known as the literary, artistic and architectural style which originated in the 12th century
(Wikipedia, 2016). The basic concept of the gothic style consists of fear, horror and strangely
eccentric ideas (Anon. 2016). Similarly, the gothic trope of Australias outback relates to the harsh,

An example of this is how they re shown as a threat to settlers (Turcotte, G. 1998). However this
colonial perspective of the trope is corrupted when Nullah forms a bond with Lady Ashley. Their
relationship s established after Lady Ashley sings Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz to
Nullah. The tune then becomes the motif which plays when they re together. It can be assumed
that as a British woman, Lady Ashley represents the settlers. Therefore, the closeness her and
Nullah share symbolises how un threatening Aboriginals really are and subverts the tropes
colonial perspective. The pair s bond also challenges another element of the trope; the
construction of Aboriginals as figures haunting the Australian landscape (Turcotte, G. 1998). Not
even four minutes into the film, the audience is given a scene in which Nullah and his
grandfather, King George, are wandering the land and learning to hunt. This establishes the
relationship Aboriginal people share with the land; as if the land is their home and backbone
(Korff, J. 2016). Later in the film, Nullah is drawn to go walkabout with his Grandfather, but held
back for a while by Lady Ashley and the Drover. This rejects the gothic tropes idea that Aboriginal
people own or are owned by the land at the expense of white

they are not aware is also a power move, and one that M. Paul has been employing in order to try

In the book, M. Paul and Mme. Beck take on the lead roles in spying on other characters for their
own benefit. Not only are the students subjected to being watched, but teachers as well. Lucy
Snowe becomes a victim of spying by both M. Paul and Beck. In turn, she is also subjected to the
male gaze, not only by M. Paul, but also particularly by Graham who subjects most women to his
masculine gaze. However, Lucy does not let herself be pushed into revealing information she
wishes to keep confidential. She uses her gaze and surveying to flip the stereotypes and
expectations for the Victorian woman. Instead of remaining silent and ignorant in her role as a
teacher, Lucy uses her ability to watch and survey to gather information and use newfound
knowledge to learn about how to go against female repression and the male gaze. From this
knowledge, Lucy earns her autonomy. She is able to speak her mind when she deems it necessary
without compromising her own morals about her history. She learns how to survive on her own,
which gives her the necessary skills to survive after her fiancГ© dies, providing readers with a
satisfying ending that Lucy will be successful all on her

Childhood Reflection Paper
By taking this class, I have learned about the stories of our childhood and how they affect us in
many ways. They allow for children and adults to connect with one another while reading a
certain story. This allows both the parent and the child the ability to wind down from a stressful
day just by reading. I learned about how stories make us who we are and help us escape into a
different reality. Stories can elicit emotional responses from us, help us deal with certain
problems in our lives, and give us the chance to empathize with certain characters who are like
us. Bedtime stories allow us to use our own imagination which allows us to travel to various
places without even moving an inch from where we are sitting. I have also learned how bedtime
stories from our childhood help us realize what we value and what our morals are. Therefore,
this class has taught me about the books of our childhood and how it helps strengthen our
imagination just by reading little black marks on a piece of paper. Because of stories, they help
us figure out who we are as a person. I have learned how they emphasize our morals and what we
believe in. They teach us certain values and how to identify whether something is right or wrong. A

Comparing Christian Liberty, Utopia, and The Prince Essay
Christian Liberty, Utopia, and The Prince
A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none...A Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant
to all, subject to none. (Luther Pg. 7) These lines show what Luther is truly about. In Christian
Liberty, Luther believes in the reestablishing of God as the inner authority. In Utopia, Thomas More
believes the power should be in one group and that the rest of the common people in the society
should all be equal like a communist society. In The Prince, Machievelli believes that the power is
within the prince. I choose Christian Liberty as the best form of authority because it is the closest
to being an honest and true way of authority. Although noneof the books portray ... Show more

Is not such a soul most obedient to God in all things by this faith? ...What more complete
fulfillment is there than obedience in all things? This obedience, however, is not rendered by
works but by faith alone. (Luther page 13) In this passage Luther is explaining the inner man
versus the outer man. He is showing that if you trust and believe in God then he will never steer
you wrong but if you don t then, what greater wickedness, what greater contempt of God is there
than not believing his promise...but to make God a liar or to doubt that he is truthful? That is to
ascribe truthfulness to one s self but lying and vanity in God?
This quote shows the dismal side of not believing in God and his supreme power and authority. If
you were to doubt him whom would you go to for salvation once he gave up on you?
Man has a two fold nature, a spiritual and a bodily one. According to the spiritual nature, which
men refer to as the soul, he is called a spiritual, inner or new man. According to the bodily nature
which men refer to as flesh, he is called a carnal, outward, or old man. (Luther page 7) We have
first talked about the spiritual aspect of a person now we are going to talk about the physical aspect.
Now let us turn to the second part, the outer man. Here we shall answer all those who, offended by
the word faith and by all that

Impact Of Technology On The Music Industry
Over the years, music has become portable, starting with the transistor to a set of headphones.
Technology has allowed us to create a diverse musical culture. Music will always have an effect
on one s culture, and it has definitely mad a huge impact on the use of technology. Cultural
diversity is about bringing people closer together though the World Wide Web. Many music
publishers are the key to cultural diversity when it comes to publishing all genres. They will
increasingly continue to play a part in promoting diversity by bringing music of all kinds and
forms to the music market. The way we access and listen to music has changed a lot in the music
industry. For some, it may seem easier to download your favorite song from your favorite artist,
but there are rules to the file sharing and downloading of music. Before there was file sharing,
people would gather in concert halls for impressive music from some of the best known
composers of all time. Today, there has been an abundance of ways to access and listen to music,
in writing this paper, my goal is to discuss copyrightlaws, file sharing, and the progression of how
we access music.
Before we reached the electronic musical era, there was good old fashion concert halls. People
would gather together in the concert halls to see many different composers perform, all from
which were in different eras; the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic era. By the year 1877, Thomas
Edison had discovered how to record and reproduce sound

Theme Of The Interlopers
Why do we engage in war? Is there ever a significant outcome?Just like the Korean War, the story
Interlopers by Saki, share similar themes and outcomes. In the Interlopers, the author Saki conveys
a theme of don t waste your life on engaging in hatred cause death will follow, using the literary
techniques of situational irony, imagery, and foreshadowing.
Saki has displayed a theme of wasting your life on engaging in hatred because death will follow, by
using the technique of irony. This theme comes into notice when the forresters walk out into the
open to explore. Ulrich and Georg, the forresters, meet eyes in the middle of the open forest.
Then, lighting struck and branches from the trees fall down onto Georg and Ulrich. The hatred
turned from each other onto nature. Hoping that the other is dead, Ulrich shouts I m caught in
my own forest land , and then their was a moment of silence (Saki 8). Georg was silent because
he knew that this situation he got in, is very ironic. They re on their own land but yet trapped
and nearing death all because of this long lasting family feud. Since death is nearing, Georg
starts to get into panic mode. He shouts at Ulrich and says, Death and damnation to you, Ulrich
Von Gradwitz , as they were trapped under the heavy tree branches (Saki 8). Georg didn t mean
that in a bad way. He just wanted to make sure that Ulrich knew that if they did died under those
branches, that it would be all his fault for making this a bigger deal than what it

Principles Of Universal Design Of Kroger
ADA/Universal Design Project Summary The grocery store Kroger was inspected based on
American s with Disabilities Act (ADA) and universal design. Overall the store was very
disability friendly although, like many grocery stores, Kroger had items high on shelves that
would be hard for people in wheelchairs to reach. To fix this problem, some principles of
universal design could be integrated into the store layout. The general universal design of the
store was fairly inclusive. The power doors at the entrance allowed for equitable use, the first
principle of universal design. Kroger also had restrooms on either ends of the store. One of the
sets of restrooms contained two unisex bathrooms. Though these two bathrooms didn t have
accessible signs there were grab bars and low sinks in the bathroom fulfilling the second
universal design, principle flexibility in use. The organization of the store made it simple and
intuitive, one side of the store contained groceries while the other contained home goods. This
setup allows for optimal flow throughout the store and ease when looking for specific items.
Kroger complied with the low physical effort principle in many ways, the doors to the bathrooms
were very easy to push and pull, and had handles that would be within reach of someone in a...

Without the tactile or auditory aids it would be difficult for a blind person to be able to decipher
different brands of the same products. To become more universally designed Kroger could have
scanners that customers could use to scan an item for an auditory message of what the product is.
Kroger didn t seem to have any features that fulfilled the tolerance for error principle. They could
improve their design by creating an undo button for the self check out computers. This button
would allow for error if someone accidentally pressed an unwanted button or scanned an unwanted

Evolution Of Managed Care And The Forces That Have Driven...
Describe the evolution of managed care and the forces that have driven its evolution.
Managed care and its competition is being viewed to solve their issue on the struggle to control
rising health care costs. Managed care can be defined a system of delivering health services in
which care is delivered by a specified network of providers who agree to comply with the care
approaches established through a case management process. Managed care has a one hundred years
of history in the United States, and it gained national recognition around mid 1970s. The health
maintenance organizations (HMOs) are managed care organizations. There are two categories of
MCOs are, preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and point of service plans
(POS). There are over half of Americans with health insurance are enrolled in managed care plans.
Currently the debate in the United States is in regard to the quality of care provided by MCOs
and traditional fee for service plans. Another major issue with managed care is the use of gag
clauses in contracts amongst the MCOs and their providers. These clauses limit providers from
being more informative to patients about the alternative treatments or the details of reimbursements
for providers. The U.S. health care reform failed in 1994, and it caused a more focused turn to the
marketplace to provide the stimulus for reducing costs.
A few new trends are rising as managed care enters its second generation: dual and triple option
plans with

Technology And The Positive Effects Of Information Technology
Information technology is the study or use of systems, such as computers and smartphones, for
storing, retrieving, and sending information. In our society today, it has become more common to
own a smartphone. A survey ran in 2015 regarding the ownership of these devices demonstrated
that 68% of U.S. adults have a smartphone, rising about 35% since 2011, and tablet ownership is at
45% among adults (PEW Research Center). As of right now technology is becoming a threat to the
way we live. Even though technology has created positive impacts in society, it has caused a barrier
in human interaction, inactivity in daily life, and has lead to the spread of false news on social
platforms. Technology affects the way individuals communicate, learn, and think. It helps define
society and determines how one interacts with others on a daily basis. Over the years, technological
advancements have contributed to the barrier in communication that society suffers from today. A
study done by the International Center for Media the Public Agenda (ICMPA) found that 1 in 4
people spend time socializing online (Hampton). Through the growing popularity and usage of
social media platforms, it has become more simple to remain in contact with others through online
platforms. Although it is great to keep in touch with distant friends and relatives, many individuals
have taken advantage of this opportunity. A poll ran by Statista determined that the percent of
Americans who has a social media

Similarities Between Japan And Canadian Government
Japan and Canada are on opposite sides of the world, but are they on opposite sides of
government? That s what I ve been researching about for the past three weeks.
TYPE OF GOVERNMENT
Japan is a constitutional monarchy, which means that the emperor s power is limited and saved for
special ceremonies. Canada is also a constitutional monarchy, where Queen Elizabeth II plays a
symbolic role instead of a position in power.
STRUCTURES AND FUNTIONS
Japans government is sorted into three branches; the judicial branch, the legislative branch, and the
executive branch. Similarly, Canada has the same branches.
In Japan executive powers are exclusively in the Cabinet, which consists of a prime minister and
the ministers he or she appoints. The prime minister, is appointed by the emperor, by the Diet. The
prime minister appoints the other members of the Cabinet, all of whom must be members of the
legislature. The Cabinet is responsible to the Diet and must resign if the House of Representatives
passes a vote that takes them off a seat of power. In Canada the executive branch holds the positions
of the lieutenant governor: W. Thomas Molloy, premier, cabinet, and public service. In Canada the
lieutenant governor is appointed by the governor general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The emperor appoints the chief justice upon designation by the Cabinet, which also appoints the
other justices. The judges can only be removed by public impeachment. The Supreme Court
determines the constitutionality of laws and all its decisions are final. It supervises a system of
four inferior courts: A High Court, which rules on appeals of judgments by the lower courts; a
District Court; a Family Court; and a Summary Court. In Canada the supreme court is also the
highest court, a court of last appeal. The supreme court of Canada has nine judges, one of the
judges is the chief justice and eight other regular

Women Grievances Of Women
Often society today only addresses one side of the gender inequality issue; the grievances of
women. Feminists have fought the ingrained tradition of women subjected to life as a housewife
with no rights since women are looked down upon as the lesser sex. Women have spent hundred of
years trying to break down genderbarriers and constructs. Less discussed in the social issues of
today are the grievances men face. The issues of misogyny and misandry are discussed by the
authors of Marked Women, A Woman s Beauty, Man Bashing, and The Men We Carry in Our
Lives. Although men lead lives that are not absent from gender discrimination, women have
historically and still currently oppressed by men in society and still fighting for equal rights.
Women are judged upon every choice and every action they take. Being marked means that a
judgement can be formed about one s character. An unmarked form of a word means what you
think of when you re not thinking anything special, a luxury that women do not have. In the article
Marked Women, Deborah Tannen elaborates on how women are inherently marked in everything
they do. Clothing that are too tight will mark a woman as promiscuous while loose clothing
would be marked as lazy. Makeup is also definitive mark on the character of a woman. Tannen
states in the article how you couldn t say the men didn t wear makeup in the sense that you could
say a woman didn t wear makeup, which demonstrates how a judgement can always be

Attivation Of School Observation
General Information My Observation took place on 09/21/17. I arrived at 9:00am and departed
at 12:30pm. I went to a Head Start program which is a public institution. The grade level that I
observed was Pre K and the children were around four years old.
Staff
In the program, there was one teacher and one teacher s aide. The class had sixteen children. The
Staff/Child ratio was 1:8 which means they had an adequate amount of staff for the children. There
were nine girls and seven boys in the classroom.
Activities
When the children arrived to Head Start the first thing they did was to go to a bin that had their
names in it. They searched for their names and tried to write it on a piece of paper which is
counted as attendance. After they wrote their names they picked what job they had that day which
includes teachers helper, bell ringer and other options. They then participated in organized play
with specific toys as they waited for the rest of their peers to arrive. They then ate breakfast and
after participated in a large group lesson containing children pointing out the first letters of their
names. After the group lesson, they had free play and then went outside to the playground.
Interaction Upon arrival, the children are encouraged to find and write their names which the
teacher s aid was very attentive. She helped the kids whenever they needed help writing, which
is an example of scaffolding. Teachers encourage and assist children in their own efforts to write
(Bredekamp Copple, 2009, p.169). She also praised them when they finished writing their names
and encouraged them to pick a job of the day on the job board. The teacher and the teacher s aide
often referred to the children as their friends . Whenever a child needed help they would say My
friend, what can I help you with? . Referring to the children as this created a pleasant environment
and most likely made the children feel as though they are loved. After writing their names and
picking their jobs children are encouraged to play with specific boxes of toys at the tables. The toys
were mostly building toys that children can make something out of. The teacher would sometimes
show the children different things they could build

The Issue Of Political Corruption
The issue of political corruption is as persistent as it is prevalent; that is to say, it exists
ambiguously, politically, and in undefined terms. Generally, political corruption is understood to
mean a breach of the public trust in the course of a politician s duties (Huigens 2010). In any
democracy that is truly for the people by the people, it should be easy to weed out the corrupt
politicians. That said, the corruption of any one politician does not always translate to a different
election outcome and some electors may benefit from a corrupt representative (Ionescu 2013). This
is because of the ambiguous and political environment in which political corruptionoccurs. Since
politicians have the power to create laws, they do not willingly create laws that criminalize their
actions. This has led for the expansion of honest services mail fraud by the courts to include
politicians actions (Huigens 2010). However, the courts have not always been consistent.
Sometimes actions of the courts create strain on a politician such that they could not get elected
without first getting corrupted (Issacharoff 2010). This process has the effect of shifting
representatives power from the people to corporations (Evertsson 2013). Still, with a high profile
enough case, a corrupt politician can be outrooted by the ballot box (Ionescu 2015). However,
organizational deviance has a causal effect on relevant actors (Tatham 2016) especially when the
issue is as widespread as Mr. Silver

Globalization in Regard to Worldwide Equality
Globalization in regard to worldwide equality Introduction Globalization has changed much
about the way that people perceive the world and it influenced individuals to express less
interest in ideas like nationalism and borders. Even with this, one is likely to observe that these
two concepts can be considered responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions of people
throughout history, thus meaning that globalization can practically be considered an idea that
directly contradicts nationalism and borders. It is surely difficult to determine whether or not
globalization has had a positive effect on the world, but when looking at matters from the
perspective of developing countries experiencing rapid progress one might be inclined to assume
that it would only be safe for him or her to claim that the process has actually led to greater
global equality. Globalization as a confusing concept Many fail to have a clear understanding of
globalization and what it entails. This is largely owed to the fact that society largely promotes
globalization as a process that is going to overcome hunger, poverty, and deprivation (Munck, 1). In
contrast, other believe that it is actually responsible for many of the problems that the contemporary
social order is experiencing. All things considered, people need to acknowledge that the matter is
very complex and that refrain from thinking that it is not actually problematic to analyze the matter.
This process does not only involve

  • 2. Essay On Should You Get An Mba Before Launching Your Startup Should You Get an MBA Before Launching Your Startup? The Value of an MBA or Business Education in Today s Competitive Arena for Entrepreneurship Engineers, self made entrepreneurs and bootstrap enthusiasts believe that the right person with the right work ethic can succeed in business with a good idea activated at the right time. However, in today s complex, collaborative and highly technical business environment, a degree in business or at least some strong business courses can give you the knowledge and tools to handle a startup like a pro and reduce the learning curve that always appears in any business startup. Managing Growth The need to manage the growth of your business seems to demonstrate that you re doing something right, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Graduate Management Admission Council s Alumni Perspectives Report chronicles a rise in the number of business graduates who start their own businesses. Entrepreneurs are growing younger, better educated and committed to applying business skills to their own startup ideas. [3] Although the demands of modern marketing, software implementations and integrating software applications into sales platforms make it difficult to succeed in business without a thorough grounding in modern sales, marketing and financing techniques, experienced engineers often succeed in business without receiving formal educations on standard business practices. The United States encourages this technology boom with its West Coast IT industry headquartered in Silicon Valley and other areas. Education is a big key to business success even if it isn t limited to business courses. Engineers, coders and developers are coming up with big ideas, but it often takes people with business backgrounds to transform these ideas into practical ideas for sales and marketing. Benefits of Getting a Business Degree The benefits of getting a business degree can set you up for business success even if your revolutionary idea for a startup doesn t succeed. Although there s no single path to business success. A business degree and ideally an MBA will stand you in good stead when you encounter typical business problems as your company grows. • 3. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised By Gil Scott Heron In the 1960s, the Civil rights movement faced many challenges, a lack of media was one of them. The media managed to cover a lot of the events that happened during the movement. However, the media coverage still failed to bring the right amount of attention to the issue at hand. T.V. shows and advertisements did not change or show any support. Even though a change was taking place, the messages were not being shown to the American public. With that being said, the black power movement had a saying for this The Revolution Will Not Be Televised . The Revolution Will Not be Televised was written by Gil Scott Heronin 1970. This was during the time after the Civil right movement was big. Equality was still a struggle, but things were coming along, as blacks were finally getting some notice in things. The Government treated black like they did not exist and were very corrupt, which is why he wrote this poem. Born on April 1, 1949, Gil Scott Heron was raised by his maternal grandmother, Lillie Scott, In Jackson Tennessee. He later moved to New York, after his grandmother died, at the age of 12. He went to a high school in the Bronx and attended Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, eventually settling down in Manhattan. He met Brian Jackson during the time he was attending Lincoln University and later founded the Black Blues band. There were about nine members in the group, but according to Scott Heron he was arguably not the most important voice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Overview of the Immune System and Cells The immune system has dual natures in series with non self/self recognition being the most important. Other natures are adaptive/nature or acquired/innate, secondary/primary, passive/active, humoral/cell mediated and some parts or antigen specific. Antigen specific means when it recognizes certain antigens it will act upon them. Some pats are systemic which is the don t just stay at the infected area but go through the body and they have memory, so when they come the same antigen again they know, they will attack it even stronger. The non self/self recognition is every cell has marker based on the major histocompatibility complex and cells without this marker or attacked as non self. This works so well that proteins that are not digested treated the same as antigens. There are certain diseases that break down the immune system and it attacks the self cells. These diseases are called autoimmune and some of these are forms of diabetes and arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and multiple sclerosis. When the immune system responds inappropriately to innocuous substances such as allergies, this is called allergen. The two fluid systems are the lymph and blood system are responsible for transporting the immune systems agents through the body. The blood system contains five liters of blood which is about seven percent of a person s body weight. Blood is made of fifty two to sixty two percent liquid plasma and thirty eight to forty ... • 5. Berlin Urban Voids ARC303 Urban (Hi)Stories Berlin in Twentieth Century: Politics and Culture An Urban (Hi)Stories about Voids Introduction: Berlin as Void In an official advertisement campaign of 1996, there was a slogan written all over the city: Berlin wird (Berlin becomes). But Berlin becomes what ? Instead of a proper predicate, we get a verbal void. In the worst scenario, as Karl Scheffler wrote at the end of his classic 1910 portrait of the city, Berlin may forever to become and never to be. The twentieth century urban history of Berlin was largely associated with the concept of voids. The voids that were created by the unique apartment buildings, also known as Mietkasernen with enclosed inner courtyards. Only one decade later, Albert Speer intended to create ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This city s history has been written, erased, and rewritten throughout this violent century. Its legibility relies as much on visible markers of built space as on images and memories repressed and ruptured by traumatic events. At the start of the Twentieth century, Berlin s future would have followed a completely different direction. In Walter Ruttmann s 1927 film Berlin: Symphony of a Metropolis, the editing draws a large amount of the graphic and thematic parallels of a different group of people s routine working life, people with machines or people and animals throughout the city. It shows a highly lawful social condition. Even the conflicts and movements shown throughout the film are coordinated in rhythmic and systematic order, forming a harmonious symphony about the metropolitan. (Fig.1) This scene of flourishing united urban environment in the Weimar Republic supposed to show a bright future of the city yet gradually lost in the following decades. As the war destroyed tons of buildings in Berlin, left overwhelming ruins, the creation of voids in this city by the politics was only about to begin. (Fig.2, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Meet, Meat Industry Essay When people think of the cow that their burger comes from, they think of a peaceful, fenced in field with cows grazing lazily. In reality that beef comes from a cow who is forced to eat something it cannot digest, in a cramped, loud feedlot, covered in feces. Big business has worked hard to hide the reality of food origin. The American government should create legislation that would eliminate this problem. Research is being done with invitro meat, otherwise known as lab grown meat. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) should approve invitro meat for human consumption. Animal cruelty caused by the farming industry and large companies is a huge problem that can be avoided with scientific advancements in lab grown meat. The American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When meat arrives in the supermarkets, it appears in neat and nicely wrapped packages under bright lighting; fresh, clean and detached from its source, sometimes ground or covered in spices, and largely cut in such a way that we cannot even tell by looking which part of the animal the tissue comes from (Hopkins 580). There is already a missing link in our knowledge about the meat people eat, so lab grown should be an easy transition onto the shelves. The bioengineering required to make invitro meat is an offshoot of the technologies being developed to grow tissue from stem cells for medical transplants. Researchers in the Netherlands grew a small amount of pork from harvested pig cells, so lab produced meat could be on the menu within five years (Grose 1). These are not meat substitutes, or artiп¬Ѓcial meat, or meat like substances that are conglomerations of soy products and gelatins, it is genuine meat, genuine animal muscle tissue that requires no animal suffering and no animal death to produce (Hopkins 581). Lab grown meat can grow in a few different ways. Meat is already cultured on small and early scales using a variety of basic procedures (Hopkins 582). One of the ways is called scaffolding. Using scaffolds relies on self organization of cell in muscles. Growth of the cells happens on small beads or mesh suspended in growth medium (Hopkins 582). Different growth mediums are being used for trials. Some mediums are algae, fetal bovine serum, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She manages to foster a great team of people who would feel equal and work together to achieve a common goal that she manages to set without exercising authority. Furthermore she manages to make everyone feel equal in their ideas by allowing discussions rather than exercising power. Her managementis extremely effective when the company was being created but at the same time, as her team increased she kept the tight working style which guarantees success in the long run even if she is not present. However, Taran Swan successfully identifies her main recourse and advantage the Nickelodeon brand and philosophy. Although her managers at Nickelodeon where unsure about the success that can be achieved in Latin America, she took the challenge to try and convince them that the market is ready. Quickly she manages to overcome what proves to be her greatest challenge the unfamiliar environment. Starting with a brand and full of ideas, the first key step that Taran Swan executes is the establishment of her great team. Her strategy of recruiting talented, open minded people is a very firm base of the future company. The Unknown Errors Of Our Lives By Chira Banerjee The paper explores the different dimensions of Diaspora consciousness in Chitra Banerjee s short story collection entitled The Unknown Errors of Our Lives. It shows that like other Diaspora texts the short stories of the volume deal with many strands of immigrant experience undergone by the female protagonists of the stories: uprootedness, utter alienation, perilous danger, racial discrimination, afflicted hardships, immanent brooding of haunting tension, vain repentance, irretrievable loss, constant homesickness, nostalgic longing, identity crisis, Trishanku existence, cultural liminality and hybridised cultural identity. • 9. Masculinity In Medea Throughout the Greek tragedy Medea, many characters have acted in a way that proves Foucault s idea that power controls us. Medea lacks true freedom and the men in this Greek tragedy say that being a woman is easy, but it s very challenging. Medea attempts to play the role of men and performs traditional roles of masculinity, but cannot fully fulfill the role because of her status as a woman. Foucault would consider Medeato be mimicking the same power elimination that Jasondid. He was able to get the trust of Medea, by allowing her to slave the dragon, and deceive her father. Once, he got her trust he then betrayed her. Medea s revenge is dictated by a masculine regime of truth. Medea being under a particular regime of truth that is incredibly masculine allows her anger to turn into revenge and her want for power causes her to think about death. She does not know any other way; she has learned that this tactic is how you gain power. She says, for I shall kill the children, my own ones (22). A Research Study On Regenerative Medicine And Transplantation Regenerative medicine and transplantation is the recent advancement in the field of scientific medical research embarking on the evolvement of embryonic stem cells(ESCs)and reprogrammed human somatic cells called induced pleuri potent stem cells(iPSCs) .Human embryonic stem cells were first derived in 1998 by Thomson et al. and induced pleuri potent stem cells(iPSCs) in 2007(Thai Journal of Obstetrics and GynaecologyApril 2013) The innate proficiency of the human embryonic stem cells to differentiate into multiple cell lineages i.e pluripotency and worthy of self renewal score them as invaluable sources in therapeutic and diagnostic field. However, there are some impediments seen in the generation and utilisation of these ESCs as some countries believe that isolation of ESCS from embryos is detrimental to the embryos and as they are not patient specific , auto rejection is observed in some cases. (Thai Journal of Obstetrics and GynaecologyApril 2013) To overcome this, scientists have identified iPSCs by reprogramming of certain somatic cells. Vivid progression in the remedy of infertility will be possible with the transformation of germ cells from stem cells. The mechanism of differentiation of ES cells in vitro and in vivo are not well inferred due to limited number of oocytes available through donation programmes. (Resource Sheet #1)This shows how maybe the colonists fired because they felt threatened by the soldiers.I also think that Resource Sheet #2 is a lie because it s the only one out of the 5 that says anything remotely like it.The text states, ...who rode up to us, mounted and armed, each having a pistol in his hand, and after putting pistols to our breasts, and seizing the bridles of our horses, they swore, that if we stirred another step, we should all be dead men, upon which we surrendered ourselves. They detained us until Two o clock the next morning, in which they searched and greatly abused us... (Resource Sheet #2)I also think that the last resource isn t entirely true. The text states, ...she was surprised by the firing of the king s troops and our people, on their return from Concord. Purpose:
The main objective of this experiment was to synthesize methyl nitrobenzoate from methyl benzoate, using the mixture of nitric and sulfuric acid by performing the process of electrophillic aromatic substitution. During this reaction, the combination of HNO3 and H2SO4 made a nitrating solution. The crystallization was done to accomplish pure product. The melting point and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) were performed to test the purity of the product. So, the analysis of the melting point confirmed that the product was methyl meta nitrobenzoate as it was anticipated. Additionally, use of the melting point analysis shows that NO2 group could be added to the methyl benzoate at the meta position successfully. The ortho and para products could have been also analyzed during the experiment; however, they were not chosen for the product (methyl benzoate) because they have unstable resonance forms that have positive charges near one another. The two positive charges that are next to one another can make the product to be unstable and as result ortho and para substituted products are not favorable in this electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction. Paul, Robert McCormack, Joanna Kyriazis, and Tim Krueger, the production of biofuels is not only energetically wasteful in most circumstances, but it is also causing food shortages throughout the world. By creating biofuels throughout United States, we are not only using up valuable farmlands, but we are actually becoming more dependent upon foreign oil. Throughout this article several statistics are given to show how energetically unfavorable the production of biofuels really is. Not only does the production of biofuels require huge amounts of resources like water, cropland, and chemical fertilizers, but in many cases it also consumes more net energy in fossil fuels than it produces in alternative energy resources. Some examples of biofuel production throughout the world include biomass resources, corn ethanol, grass and cellulosic ethanol, soybean biodiesel, and algae for oil production. • 32. Paleolithic Vs Neolithic Research Paper I would prefer living in the Paleolithic Era and the Neolithic Era. One main reason is that the Paleolithic men were much healthier than the Neolithic men in the ways that, Paleolithic men were foragers and they moved their food which led them to not staying in one spot permanently. This means that sickness and diseases were not easily passed on. Unlike the Neolithic men who did have permanent settlements and had illness passed around quite easily. Also it says in the passage Old Stone Age vs. New Stone Age that The adoption of grains in the Neolithic era coincided with a shortening of stature, thinner bones and crooked, cavity ridden teeth. They created created language by using symbolic language (using symbols or sounds to communicate) and collective learning (telling other people about your discoveries so they can use it and the information does not die). Although the Neolithic man did create some very important discoveries too (the wheel, calendars, time keeping etc.) they would not have able to make these discoveries without language. Another reason is that the Paleolithic people had a healthy balanced diet. The Paleolithic people had a main diet of meat, fruits, vegetables, and wild grains. Whereto the Neolithic people had a main diet of wheat, yams, corn, rice, and maze. As we ve seen in paragraph one grains make your bones thinner, decrease your height, and make you have crooked teeth. Therefore the Paleolithic people had a better balanced diet which allowed them to be healthier. My fourth reason is that you are a farmer (Neolithic) and one year you have bad weather and your crops don t grow. Now you have very little if any food. That doesn t just effect a couple of people though. That effect your whole clan or colony which can be a lot of people. Whereto if your a forager (Paleolithic) and you don t have a permanent settlement then if one year you have bad weather you don t need to stress about it because you can move like you do anyway for your ... Unfortunately they can also be unforgettable in how they make us suffer. They can be tedious. Both examples were apparent during my 24 year career in the military. Bovee and Thill state, Planning oral presentations are much like planning any other business message: You analyze the situation, gather information, select the right medium, and organize the information (p.434). Presentations in my organization accomplish this and other times don t. Usually one can tell when this has been done and when it hasn t. Several are effective and others aren t. There are basic reasons why specific presentations capture attention and certain don t. One of the biggest problems with presentations in our workplace is, redundancy. They pound the same information repeatedly. There have been presentations delivered, where person decided that a word or point needed to change that would create little to no difference in the presentation; however, we would be required to view another presentation of the same material, occasionally less than a month after having it presented. This is a quote by T.J Avery in Mildred Taylor s novel, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry. T.J is foolish, sneaky, and dishonest. In the end, this leads to his near death experience. In this book, T.J is seen as dishonest for many reasons. He cheats on homework and tests, blames things on his brother, and steals from the Barnett store. He was held back into the seventh grade again, and now he has Stacey Logan s mom for a teacher. With Stacey being his best friend, T.J tries to get all the answers to the tests. T.J also talked Stacey out of his new coat. Stacey got a new coat from Uncle Hammer. It was a little big, but it was way nicer than the one that he had before. T.J really wanted the coat, so he tricked Stacey into giving it to him. He did this by saying that other kids were making fun of him, saying that he looked like a preacher. Stacey felt embarrassed, and gave the coat to T.J when he told him that he would give it back, after he grew into it. This shows that Stacey was foolish to listen to T.J, but it also shows how sneaky T.J can really be. T.J is sneaky in many ways in this book. Another example was when he was talking about how he gets out of his cores and other work that needs to be done at his house. He told Stacey that whenever there is work that has to be done, and someone has to go somewhere to get it done, he volunteers himself to do it. Then when he goes, he spends the whole day being gone, so that when he gets back, all the rest of the work is done. See, fellows, there s a system to getting out of work. Undoubtably, by the turn of 1871, a new German Empire emerged, but what remains in uncertain territories, is whether this new German Empirewas created from above or below. Neither position can be disregarded or invalidated, as the power of the people holds equal significance to that of the people in power. On today s episode, we ll be focusing on the Australian film industry, and more specifically, how the gothic trope of the Australian outback is manipulated to present Australian identity. One of the better examples of this manipulation is the movie Australia, directed by Baz Lurhman. Lurhman has used narrative, aesthetic and cinematic techniques to distort and manipulate the gothic trope throughout the film. Gothic is known as the literary, artistic and architectural style which originated in the 12th century (Wikipedia, 2016). The basic concept of the gothic style consists of fear, horror and strangely eccentric ideas (Anon. 2016). Similarly, the gothic trope of Australias outback relates to the harsh, unforgiving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this is how they re shown as a threat to settlers (Turcotte, G. 1998). However this colonial perspective of the trope is corrupted when Nullah forms a bond with Lady Ashley. Their relationship s established after Lady Ashley sings Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz to Nullah. The tune then becomes the motif which plays when they re together. It can be assumed that as a British woman, Lady Ashley represents the settlers. Therefore, the closeness her and Nullah share symbolises how un threatening Aboriginals really are and subverts the tropes colonial perspective. The pair s bond also challenges another element of the trope; the construction of Aboriginals as figures haunting the Australian landscape (Turcotte, G. 1998). Not even four minutes into the film, the audience is given a scene in which Nullah and his grandfather, King George, are wandering the land and learning to hunt. This establishes the relationship Aboriginal people share with the land; as if the land is their home and backbone (Korff, J. 2016). They allow for children and adults to connect with one another while reading a certain story. This allows both the parent and the child the ability to wind down from a stressful day just by reading. I learned about how stories make us who we are and help us escape into a different reality. Stories can elicit emotional responses from us, help us deal with certain problems in our lives, and give us the chance to empathize with certain characters who are like us. Bedtime stories allow us to use our own imagination which allows us to travel to various places without even moving an inch from where we are sitting. I have also learned how bedtime stories from our childhood help us realize what we value and what our morals are. Therefore, this class has taught me about the books of our childhood and how it helps strengthen our imagination just by reading little black marks on a piece of paper. Because of stories, they help us figure out who we are as a person. I have learned how they emphasize our morals and what we believe in. Managed care and its competition is being viewed to solve their issue on the struggle to control rising health care costs. Managed care can be defined a system of delivering health services in which care is delivered by a specified network of providers who agree to comply with the care approaches established through a case management process. Managed care has a one hundred years of history in the United States, and it gained national recognition around mid 1970s. The health maintenance organizations (HMOs) are managed care organizations. There are two categories of MCOs are, preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and point of service plans (POS). There are over half of Americans with health insurance are enrolled in managed care plans. Currently the debate in the United States is in regard to the quality of care provided by MCOs and traditional fee for service plans. Another major issue with managed care is the use of gag clauses in contracts amongst the MCOs and their providers. These clauses limit providers from being more informative to patients about the alternative treatments or the details of reimbursements for providers. The issues of misogyny and misandry are discussed by the authors of Marked Women, A Woman s Beauty, Man Bashing, and The Men We Carry in Our Lives. I went to a Head Start program which is a public institution. The grade level that I observed was Pre K and the children were around four years old. Staff In the program, there was one teacher and one teacher s aide. The class had sixteen children. The Staff/Child ratio was 1:8 which means they had an adequate amount of staff for the children. There were nine girls and seven boys in the classroom. Activities When the children arrived to Head Start the first thing they did was to go to a bin that had their names in it. They searched for their names and tried to write it on a piece of paper which is counted as attendance. After they wrote their names they picked what job they had that day which includes teachers helper, bell ringer and other options. They then participated in organized play with specific toys as they waited for the rest of their peers to arrive. They then ate breakfast and after participated in a large group lesson containing children pointing out the first letters of their names. After the group lesson, they had free play and then went outside to the playground. Interaction Upon arrival, the children are encouraged to find and write their names which the teacher s aid was very attentive. Globalization as a confusing concept Many fail to have a clear understanding of globalization and what it entails. In contrast, other believe that it is actually responsible for many of the problems that the contemporary social order is experiencing. All things considered, people need to acknowledge that the matter is very complex and that refrain from thinking that it is not actually problematic to analyze the matter.
