Scrub typhus, also known as bush typhus, is a disease caused by a bacteria called ORIENTIA TSUTSUGAMUSHI.
Scrub typhus is spread to people through bites of infected chiggers (larval mites).
Most cases of scrub typhus occur in rural areas of Southeast Asia, Indonesia, China, Japan, India, and northern Australia. Anyone living in or travelling to areas where scrub typhus is found could get infected
Scrub typhus is not transmitted directly from person to person; it is only transmitted by the bites of vectors
Chiggers are abundant in locales with high relative humidity (60%–85%), low temperature (20°C–30°C), low incidence of sunlight, and a dense substrate-vegetative canopy.
Occupational risk is higher in farmers (aged 50–69 years), females.

Rabies is a viral disease that causes acute encephalitis
(inflammation of the brain) in warm blooded animals. Rabies is a zoonotic disease (a disease that is transmitted to humans from animals) that is caused by a virus
Dengue virus rarely causes death. However, the infection can progress into a more serious condition known as severe dengue or dengue hemorrhagic fever. Symptoms of dengue hemorrhagic fever include: bleeding under the skin. frequent vomiting.

Herpes zoster by dr bashir ahmed dar associate professor medicine sopore kas...Prof Dr Bashir Ahmed Dar
Herpes zoster (or simply zoster), commonly known as shingles and also known as zona, is a viral disease characterized by a painful skin rash with blisters in a limited area on one side of the body, often in a stripe. The initial infection with varicella zoster virus (VZV) causes the acute (short-lived) illness chickenpox which generally occurs in children and young adults.

Arthropod-borne diseases are transmitted by arthropods, members of the invertebrate phylum Arthropoda, which includes insects, spiders, and crustaceans (Tortoise, crabs).
Arthropod vector can cause a variety of human diseases, including malaria, yellow fever, chikunguniya, and dengue fever.
New Drug Discovery and Development .....NEHA GUPTA
The "New Drug Discovery and Development" process involves the identification, design, testing, and manufacturing of novel pharmaceutical compounds with the aim of introducing new and improved treatments for various medical conditions. This comprehensive endeavor encompasses various stages, including target identification, preclinical studies, clinical trials, regulatory approval, and post-market surveillance. It involves multidisciplinary collaboration among scientists, researchers, clinicians, regulatory experts, and pharmaceutical companies to bring innovative therapies to market and address unmet medical needs.

New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN HEALTHCARE.pdfAnujkumaranit
Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. It encompasses tasks such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, perception, and language understanding. AI technologies are revolutionizing various fields, from healthcare to finance, by enabling machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence.

3. • MODE OF TRANSMISSION
By the infected larval mites. The transmission
cycle may be following
4. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMPS
Symptoms of scrub typhus usually begin within 10
days of being bitten. Signs and symptoms may include
• Fever and chills
• Headache
• Body aches and muscle pain
• A dark, scab-like region at the site of the chigger bite
(also known as eschar)
5. continued
• Mental changes, ranging from confusion to coma
• Enlarged lymph nodes
• Rash
• People with severe illness may develop organ failure
and bleeding, which can be fatal if left untreated.
• Five to eight days after the onset of fever, a macular or
maculopapular rash may appear on the trunk and later
extend to the arms and the legs in a small proportion
of patients Complications of scrub typhus infection
include pneumonia, acute respiratory distress
syndrome (ARDS) like picture, myocarditis,
encephalitis, hepatitis, DIC, acute kidney injury, acute
pancreatitis, transient adrenal insufficiency etc.
6. DIAGNOSIS
The mainstay in scrub-typhus diagnostics
remains serology.
• The oldest test in current use is the Weil–Felix
OX-K agglutination reaction, which is
inexpensive, easy to perform.
• . The indirect fluorescent antibody(IFA) test is
more sensitive, and results are available in a
couple of hours; however, the test is more
expensive.
7. TREATMENT
Scrub typhus should be treated with the
antibiotic doxycycline. Doxycycline can be used
in persons of any age
PREVENTION
• No vaccine is available to prevent scrub
typhus.
• Reduce your risk of getting scrub typhus by
avoiding contact with infected chiggers.
• When traveling to areas where scrub typhus is
common, avoid areas with lots of vegetation
and brush where chiggers may be found.
8. Continued,
• If you will be spending time outdoors:
• Use Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered
insect repellentsexternal icon containing DEET or other
active ingredients registered for use against chiggers,
on exposed skin and clothing.
• If you have a baby or child:
– Dress your child in clothing that covers arms and legs, or
cover crib, stroller, and baby carrier with mosquito netting.
– Do not apply insect repellent onto a child’s hands, eyes, or
mouth or on cuts or irritated skin.
– Adults: Spray insect repellent onto your hands and then
apply to child’s face.
– Treat clothing and gear with permethrin or purchase
permethrin-treated items.
