seemed the case tonight as the Bolshoi Ballet has kicked off its two week stay at the Koch Theater
with a week a Swan Lakes. Well ... I think many of the audience were shocked, to say the least, that in
the Bolshoi/Grigorovich version, there s no swan and no lake. In fact, audience reaction was muted,
and it made for some awkward moments when the audience was dead silent and the dancers decided
to come out for another bow. Grigorovich decided to make the whole ballet a vision conjured up by
the Evil Genius. The Evil Genius mirrors Siegfried in all his dancing and actions, and swans appear

In this section, we state and justify the choices we made in the study, its influence and also discuss the
future scope of this work. In this paper, we present a case study on one real world, large, popular and
open source project namely Google Chromium Project. Google Chromium has reportedly observed an
increase in popularityfootnote{http://statcounter.com} (with respect to other similar projects) from
2009 to 2012 that is the duration of the study. This increase in popularity is also evident from the

Thus one may argue that it is the contribution pattern of core participants and not all contributors that
matters for the project. However, success of FLOSS projects is driven by masses and not individuals
where each contributor has a unique role to serve. For instance, approximately 70% of contributors in
FLOSS projects are one time contributors. However, their presence ensures popularity and interest in
project, and is appreciated. So if contributors cease to file issues it is an indicator of decreasing
popularity and influences the age of project. With decreasing contribution the project diminishes and
slowly dies out.
In this study we assume absence of activities in three months as an indicator of contributors leaving
the project. This assumption is localized. For instance, an owner who stop participating for three
months indicates that the contributor has left the project while a reporter may continue participation
even after a year. However, for planning this assumption holds as it indicates the trend of
participation. Also the data available in ITS may not answer all RQs that are of relevance to decision
makers. However, it gives justifiable understanding of stability of the project in a data driven and
objective manner.
Another extension of this work will be to study environmental factors that influences stability of
project by examining contributor participation patterns. We present study on trends of participation,

in common; the word charisma is usually attached to them when people describe their characteristics
as a leader. Charisma defined by the online Merriam Webster Dictionary is a personal magic of
leadership arousing special popular loyalty or enthusiasm for a public figure (as a political leader); a
special magnetic charm or appeal (Merriam Webster, 2014). The Oxford Dictionary states that
charisma is Compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others (Oxford University
Press, 2014).
Max Weber (known as the father of sociology) first introduced the concept of charisma with the
relationship to power and authority. He described charisma as a personality trait that sets her/him apart
from the masses. The charismatic individual is deemed to have supernatural, superhuman, or to
possess exceptional power that is not readily accessible to a regular person (Weber, 1947). Weber
further believed that charisma was the result of a social crisis and that these leaders have extraordinary
appeal because they ...emerge with the radical vision that provides the solution to the crisis (Barbuto,
1997, p. 689). For example, Martin Luther King, Jr. arose in the civil rights movement as a beacon of
change, equality and eventually for peace.
The power of the charismatic leader is often defined by how the followers perceive and act.
