Analyzing The Poem The Lesson Of The Moth
The Lesson of Life Every living thing on this earth has at least one thing in common, life. Every
person/creature chooses to live their lives in their own way. If one should reach the short poem the
lesson of the moth they would see two very different views on how one should live their life. Some
people choose to live like the safe Roach, some people choose to live like the rash moth, and some
people choose to live with a beautiful blend of the two. The roach in this story is the writer of this
poem. He says he had a conversation with a moth and asked this moth why he was living so
incautiously. The roach wants a safe life. He stresses that he did not agree with the moth s way of life.
In fact, in this poem, he says I would rather have

Compare And Contrast Essay On The Enlightenment
The Age of Reason, also known as the Enlightenment, took place in Europe in the 18th century. It
became a time period that consisted of new knowledge and wisdom. People began to see the world in
a different way, and began to think more logically. The Enlightenment was a major turning point in
Europe since it led to new scientific discoveries, a secular way of viewing religion, and a shift in the
way the government ruled.
Before the Enlightenment philosophical ideas were not supported with evidence and just assumed to
be correct. Many people in European society did not question or argue ideas shared by respected
scientists. For example, many believed Aristotle in his belief that Earth was the center of the universe.
Aristotle also thought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the Enlightenment, God was viewed as the creator of everything. Many believed that God
controlled every aspect of life, and many concepts were credited to God. Yet when the idea of thinking
with reason and logic came to light, people stopped using God as an explanation for everything. A
new, secular view on religion began to form, which meant some people questioned religion while
others found scientific explanations for God s existence. For example, many people believed in
Deism. Deists believed that God made the world and then had no interaction with the events that
occured. Deism said that God made it possible for people to discover laws as well as apply reason to
ideas. Others believed in Pantheism which stated that nature and God were the same thing. All these
new beliefs that came to light affected European society by helping minimize the reliance on religion
and emphasize logical reasoning. The idea of questioning religion and tradition during the
Enlightenment can be compared to the Reformation in 16th century. During the Reformation, religion
was questioned in terms of papal authority, while in the Enlightenment, religion is questioned on terms
of logic and reason. Both times in history led to more secular views on

The Case Of Boxes, Llc, The Distribution Occurs 4
Transaction 1 Code Section 704(c)(1)(B) covers distributions of contributed property to another
partner. Under this code section, if contributed property is distributed within seven years of the
contribution date, the contributing partner must recognize some or all of the built in gain that was
deferred at the date of contribution. In the case of Boxes, LLC, the distribution occurs 4 years after the
contribution, so Bobby is subject to the recognition provisions. At the date of contribution, the land
has a $350,000 built in gain. Recognition of this gain is deferred and the partnership takes a carryover
basis of $250,000. When the land is distributed, the FMV of the land has increased to $870,000,
increasing the built in gain to $620,000 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the date of contribution, the partnership took a carryover holding period in the land that Bobby
contributed. As a result of the distribution, Larry will also take a carryover holding period of April
14th, 2003. The character of the gain recognized by Bobby is determined by how it was used by the
partnership. Capital gain property is not subject to the five year character provisions under Section
724. Assuming that Boxes held the land as a capital asset rather than inventory, the gain recognized by
Bobby would be capital in nature. Because Larry is not at least a 50% owner of the partnership, his
intentions for the land are irrelevant in this matter.
Transaction 2
In the event of the retirement of a partner with a disproportionate distribution, Code Section 751(b)
provides guidance. In order for Section 751(b) to apply, the partnership must have both Section 751
and non section 751 property. Section 751 assets include unrealized receivables and substantially
appreciated inventory. Because the inventory has not appreciated by 120%, of its adjusted basis, the
only Section 751 property that Boxes of Books has is its receivables. Because Bobby s distribution of
$845,000 exceeds his 35% share of $840,000, he will recognize a guaranteed payment of $5,000 under
Section 736(a). Section 736(a) does not apply to the receivables

Relationship Between Economic Growth And Economic Development
Introduction Economic development is a new concept that came about in the early twentieth century.
Although, theorists argue that Karl Marx has alluded to the concept earlier in 1887 . Historically, the
increasing importance of the concept can be traced back to the needs approach of the ILO , World
Bank and Amartya Sen s Capability approach (Sen, 1993). Gerald Meier defines economic
development as the process whereby the real per capita income of a country increases over a long
period of time subject to the stipulation that the number below an absolute poverty line does not
increase and that the distribution of income does not become more unequal . Wherein, there is
evidently a strong relationship between economic growth and development. This essay analysis the
concept of the two terms economic growth and economic development by examining their
characteristic approaches. In turn, understanding the relationship between them. Economic Growth
Economic growth aims at removing obstacles that could come in the way of increasing an economy s
productive capacity, like removing market imperfections that exist in an economy. Supplying the
missing components like capital, foreign exchange, technology, skills, and management, which is
needed for improving an economy s productive capacity. Consequently, expecting that the increased
capacity of the economy would somehow reach the masses. Economic Development Economic
development, on the other hand, aims at increasing the

An Admirable Spanish Novel, The Ingenious Gentleman Don...
Don Quixote fully titled The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha is an admirable
Spanish novel by an eminent novelist Miguel De Cervantes. Cervantes wrote many novels while in
prison but unfortunately this was the only reputed work produced by him which became world s first
best seller and literature s great masterpiece. It encompasses the history, culture and the general
environment in Spain. According to me, this magnum opus became so high flying because of its
universally recognized matchless idea of Quixotism (pursuits of lofty romantic ideas) combined with
the innovative characters.
The concept of the novel is simple: Alonso Quijano (Don Quixote), landowner from La Mancha, is
obsessed with his library of chivalrous books. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of the book also pertains with the thought of Quixotism and the invention of characters.
Clearly, it was to undermine the influence of the vain and empty book of chivalry in order to provide
some merry and prudent material for reader s entertainment. Although it is immaterial he did make a
complete end to the further publications of chivalric romances. Cervantes himself wrote in the latter
section of part 1, for chivalry, offers wide and spacious window through which the pen may run
without any hindrance. Perhaps Don Quixote owes his genesis to these notions of his author. But as
Cervantes launches his idealistic and possessed hero on a career open to public contempt, the
possibilities of a many leveled, kaleidoscopic theme may have become apparent very early if the
characters were not incorporated in a beguiling way. The way he integrated his character not only
helped him produce an idealistic effect on his work but also kept track of his idea of Quixotism in the
quixotic environment created by Don Quixote all throughout the novel
So, while Cervantes is presenting a vivid ideology of Quixotism it was really requisite for him to have
particular relationship with his characters as well as the reader and he did succeed in doing so. Don
Quixote presents this interesting aspect of a novelist who learns and grows in coincidence with his
own characters. As he lives with them and loves them, Cervantes investigates

Planning Process Group Essay
Assignment 1
1. Which process group starts at the start and ends at the end of the project and why?
Monitoring and controlling is the process group that starts at the start and ends at the end as it
performs integrated change control to manage and control changes to the cost baseline, scope and
schedule. Further, it helps in analyzing and measuring the performance of the project and finding the
variation of the project from the project management plan and provides asolutions to those problems.
2. Why does the closing process group start so early in the chart?
Since some project deliverables get finished before and get the sponsor acknowledgment that is the
reason the closing process group begins ahead of schedule in the chart.
3. Why do the planning and execution process groups have similar shapes and why is the executing
process group skewed to the right?
Both the planning and the execution process groups have the same shape as we know that everything
that is thought ahead and gets regard in planning process group will be done in the execution process
group. Since the execution is done when the fulfillment of the planning process group, the execution
process group is tilted towards the right. Nonetheless, the most elevated measure of cash and time of
all the process groups is taken by execution process group.
4. Did you see that the executing process group is larger and higher than the planning process group?
Why?

Essay on Media and Violence
Introduction
In this essay I will be analysing whether less visual violence within the media would mean less
violence on the streets. Firstly, I will be questioning whether there is a connection between the
viewing of media violence and actual acting upon it. To do this I will analyse the usefulness of the
different methods used to approach such as complex issue. To illustrate this I will use examples of
different media forms that seem to have been a catalyst for acts of violence. I will then attempt to
come to a conclusion on whether less media violence could mean less acts of violence. Define
Firstly, to begin to analyse the media effects of violence one must define the term violence. The fact

Research
Some argue that watching violence on screen may have a negative effect on the individual and may
lead to that individual imitating that act. Many researchers especially psychologist have carried out
studies attempting to prove that there is a correlation between the two commonly using experiments
with the use of observations (Boyle, 2005). The most common way that researchers go about
answering the question is by selecting a group of children, making them watch something which has a
level of violence and analyses the way the children react to it after they have watched it (Bandura et
al, 1963). There are many flaws when conducting such as study, one of them being that the study
highly lacks in reliability. Even if there appears to be a link between media violence and street
violence, the results would not be geographically consistent if the study was repeated as they fail to
realise that the social situation of every individual is different, (Guanlett, 2001) therefore, generalising

Bullying in Social Networks
Bullying in Social Networks
Bullying in Social Networks Technology, it seems has unleashed an ugliness in us. (Pitts, 2010, p.

people today are using social networks such Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Skype, Youtube and many
more, not only as a way to keep in contact with people but as a way to attack people. Technology has
evolved into this great thing where, one all can keep in touch with family members or high school

We need to use what we have and use it to strengthen and help others not weaken and knock down our

offended, it might be better to not even open an account with a networking site. Yet if one does, it
would be wise to limit it to close friends and family as protection from this harsh society. Perhaps,
sticking to old fashioned phone calls, letter writing and going to visit that individual that you want to
keep in contact with. I remember back when I was in elementary school during lunch one spring day. I
recall walking into the cafeteria, and my friends waved me down to come join them. I took cuts in line
because I wanted to be with them and catch up on all the latest gossip. I managed to get in line without
the lunch lady seeing me. I began talking with my friends, when this snooty girl looked at me and
said, What do you think you re doing? I ignored her because I simply didn t care. I continued chatting
with the girls until, I get shoved by this girl as she scolded me. Being a strong willed child, I had told

measure of any solutions hydrogen ion concentration. The range for pH is generally from zero to
fourteen, with seven being neutral. If you measure any solution, if it is lower than the neutral amount
of seven than that would be considered as it being more acidic and having less oxygen in its fluid but
if it is higher than seven on the pH reading it will be considered as being oxygen rich and contains

The problem I am going to discuss is homelessness in Long Island. What is homelessness and who
defines it? Homelessness is a person lacking adequate shelter or otherwise residing below the minimal
standard of what is considered a safe dwelling. The federal definition of homeless is an individual who
lacks a fixed, regular, or adequate nighttime residence (HUD, 2011). Homelessness is not just a
problem in big cities like New York or Los Angeles, but rather it is a global epidemic affecting small

they find affordable housing. In shelters, 30% of the homeless population has been homeless before.
This group is not able to earn a wage high enough to maintain economic independence and the

Genetically Modified Food ( Gm Food )
Introduction Genetic engineering or biotechnology can be applied to different fields such as animal
biology, agriculture, or in microorganism. [8] Ever since the first genetically modified food (GM food)
Flavr Savr tomato was invented in 1994 [16], genetically modified food has been at the center of
controversy in terms of its suitability for human consumption and its effect on the biodiversity of
naturally evolved organisms. Monsanto is the largest GM seed producer in North America to the
extend that 80 percent of U.S. corn and 93 percent of soy grown from Monsanto patented GMO seeds.
[17] Monsanto has a tremendous influence and control over the marketing and production of global
seed industries. [17] According to a scientific journal report , GM fed mice could be related to the
reduction in digestive enzyme synthesis [9], suggesting that the consumption of GM food may impair
our digestion, and that individuals may be sensitive and vulnerable to a variety of foods. [9] Another
concern with GM food is its impact on biodiversity. However, the issues surrounding biodiversity may
differ from region to region [5]; for instance, developed countries have less farmland to produce GM
food by comparison to their developing counterparts. Therefore, the impact of GM food on
biodiversity may be less pronounced in developed countries. However, the common environmental
impact brought on by the cultivation of GM food is: a change in ecosystems and biodiversity, habitat

Abstract
Childhood maltreatment is a prevalent problem through out the world. As a child grows and matures
the brain continues to develop according its experiences. During this time sensitive periods of
development for different areas of the brain. A few areas that are of interest are the stress influenced
areas, which are at an increased risk for developmental problems when exposed to maltreatment. The
extra stress from such exposures can influence abnormalities throughout the brain, which have been
linked to structure changes with in the corpus callosum, anterior cingulate, dorsolateral prefrontal,

hormone systems. These structural changes are associated with an increased risk of psychopathology
and other life long educational and physiological risk.
In 2013 an estimated 679,000 children were victims of maltreatment and approximately 3.1 million

The Vanished documentary has a split narrative structure skipping from scenes of the airplane to when
the soldiers are sent up on the investigation this is the only documentary, which is structured this way
and works very well it bounces back and forth in time. This technique is used because it builds a
suspense for the viewer and just a crucial moment is near it will switch so the viewer will continue
watching until it switches back again to the main screen, it gratifies the audience when it is shown
again. The Blue Planet has a very linear structure like the Burkitsville Seven (the beginning of the
documentary is shallow and it ends up at the bottom of the ocean) but at the end they have a sub
section demonstrating how the produced the documentary and proving its reality, this is a form of self
reflexive filming. They do not need to build suspense because it is not that genre of documentary. The
Pirate documentary as well as the Burkitsville Seven and the Blue Planet happens periodically but this
differs as there is a much larger timescale instead of one main focus the are many sub plots about the
different pirates of the time, this gratifies the audience as it uses a wide range of stories and each one
is different and has a wide range of events so the viewer watches for the range of events. This is a little

Summary Of The Evil Genius
There s a saying in ballet that says Put Swan Lake on the billboard, and they will come. This certainly
seemed the case tonight as the Bolshoi Ballet has kicked off its two week stay at the Koch Theater
with a week a Swan Lakes. Well ... I think many of the audience were shocked, to say the least, that in
the Bolshoi/Grigorovich version, there s no swan and no lake. In fact, audience reaction was muted,
and it made for some awkward moments when the audience was dead silent and the dancers decided
to come out for another bow. Grigorovich decided to make the whole ballet a vision conjured up by
the Evil Genius. The Evil Genius mirrors Siegfried in all his dancing and actions, and swans appear
from behind a curtain. In the third act a sextet of black swans and Odile are also conjured up by the
Evil Genius from behind this curtain. This robs the ballet of any meaningful romantic connection
between Odette and Siegfried. It s all a vision of the Evil Genius, remember? And in the final act,
there s no reconciliation or forgiveness between Odette and Siegfried. The Evil Genius again whisks
his swans behind the curtain. The end. Many iconic moments are gone: Odette doesn t make the flying
entrance. Instead, she s already behind the curtain, and has to exit the stage before re entering. The
entrance of the swans is also gone: they re already onstage behind that stupid curtain, then a few
minutes later they re enter with the familiar flying arabesque sequence. This production

The Kenyon Commencement Speech By David Foster Wallace
I believe that existence is comprised of hundreds and millions of different realities intermingling and
colliding into one another. I also believe that at the center of each reality there lies the individual who
crafted it. Our perception of what is real and false exists solely in our own minds, and our minds are
what determines the lense in which we perceive the world. Our perception is largely influenced by our
psyche; how we live and think stems from our perception of the world. Our brains are directly
influenced by a number of key factors, including but not limited to; societal connotations, individual
experience, instinctual desires, environmental factors, and cognitive thought. These factors, as well as
other conditions, are what determine our default setting. In his noteable This is Water speech, given at
the 2005 Kenyon Commencement Address, David Foster Wallace argues a similar idea as he explains
his take on the phrase teaching you how to think . Through his use of relatable parables and anecdotes
and repetition and reverent focus of words like choice and awareness he paints a livid picture of the
use of conscious choice in our daily lives. He stresses the concept of a self centered default setting that
comes from an individual s blind certainty and the repercussions that deferring to that default can have
on an individual s lifestyle and fulfilment. If we are unable to recognise the water in which we dwell
we will always remain unaware, stuck in an

The Integration Of Personal Health And Financial Well Being
The integration of personal health and financial well being is, perhaps, the perfect platform to speak to
what s on the hearts and minds of Americans and those who represent them on Capitol Hill.
And, as the American Benefits Council approaches its 50th anniversary in 2017, it has appropriately
considered how it can leverage this milestone to advance its policy objectives, membership goals and
overall awareness of the value of the industry you represent. There may be no better time to open a
discussion on the challenges and opportunities that will take place over the next 50 years, as well as
recognize your successes of the past 50 years.
There also is no more important time to ensure that the Council s voice is heard by policymakers and

for the campaign:
1. Messaging geared toward educating policymakers about the key issues related to employer
sponsored benefits and their impact on Americans.
2. Messaging geared toward members and prospective members demonstrating how the Council
actively and successfully advocates on their behalf.
We also will create an identity/logo for the campaign that will be used to help brand the efforts in a

The Portrayal Of African Americans Essay
How has the image of Africans develop from being savages to being portrayed as more human
individuals? In other words, in what ways has the roles of African reversed over time? Refer to five or
more of the assigned readings to support your assertions.
A stereotype can be defined as a representational practice that categorizes and segregates an individual
or group of individuals based on their differences, often associating him/her with a positive or
negative label, such as, by outcasting an individual based on their racial and ethnic backgrounds (Hall
225). The image of Africans as savages is a common stereotype seen in American and European films
that show Africans as barbaric and primitive creatures. Specifically in these films, a savage is an
African who is constantly portrayed and characterized as a worthless, lazy, blood thirsty, cannibalistic
beast who probably deserves to die (158). This is because Africans don t fit the stereotypical cookie
cutter mold of what the directors consider normal (i.e. being a great white hunter), and therefore, they
are immediately seen as insignificant and worthless individuals (158). Over time, as African produced
films start forming an appearance in Hollywood, the perception of Africans slowly changes. In part
because African directors represent their race as lead characters who are independent and smart.
Africans are no longer seen as savage creatures, but instead, as actual human beings who crave to have
their voice heard in the

This result required analysis from another technician, who ultimately concluded that some of the
samples were consistent with Fritz hair. It took this expert over two years to do his analysis, and he did
so with the knowledge that when he was analyzing Fritz hair, Fritz was a suspect in the case. (Other
hair samples that he analyzed were not marked as having come from a suspect). [*604] The
prosecution s case may have been strengthened when it was able to prove during cross examination of
Dennis Fritz that he had lied to the school system when he indicated on his job application that he had
no criminal convictions. In fact, he had once been convicted of growing marijuana. (When the police
had discovered this fact during its investigation, they called the junior high school where Fritz was
working and told them that he was under investigation for murder and had lied about his marijuana
growing conviction. The school system fired him immediately). The prosecution also established that
Fritz had lied about the marijuana growing conviction on an application for a gun permit. Although

things like the internet, books, maps, geological maps and council offices which all play a part within

check the site boundaries, building lines, existing buildings and other man made, or natural, features

P1.2:
Ground investigations are a crucial part of the survey as they determine the nature of the land and
explains the different types of soil which helps identify the type of foundations that should be used or
how water absorbent the soil is. A few stages of a ground investigation include; Trial Pitting, Dynamic
Probe testing/Sampling, Cable Percussive Boreholes and Rotary Boreholes.
Trial Pitting Trial pits can easily be performed by hand but it will take triple the amount of time and
you won t be able to get a good depth to get a good samples. Trial pits are usually dug mechanically
because it is finished much faster and can be dug a lot deeper. Trial pits are normally excavated at
4.5m deep as this provides a good insight of what the foundations will be sitting on and it provides
information if deeper foundations are needed. The advantages of machinery is that greater depths can
be achieved which would result in a more detailed soil sample test etc. A disadvantage of this would
be minor ground disturbance which could cause problems.
Dynamic probe testing/Sampling This can be performed with a tracked percussive or pneumatic

Providing students with intensive phonological interventions during the early stages of learning
development can help students improve in reading, writing, and spelling. Teachers may use various
methods to instruct students during the interventions. Approaches such as structured system and
multisensory are recommended based on the researchers in the field of dyslexia. Structured system
involves taking steps such as alphabetic principles, reading, spelling, and writing. First, student will
learn the phonemes, the vowels, and the syllables. Students need to learn the relationship between
letters, sounds and words. Students will work on rhythm and rhymes such as alliteration to help them
develop letter sound recognition. Then students will progress onto reading words when they are able
to successfully match the phonemes to the letters. Multisensory involves using fingers, letter tiles to
manipulate the letters and spell words. Using a combination of visualization and kinesthetic to help
them memorize new vocabularies, which is similar to a Montessori setting. Montessori believed the
ideal curriculum for children with dyslexia is multisensory, structured, cumulative, and sequential
(Skotheim M.K, 2008). Children are able to experience language by spending time through tactile
learning of tracing sounds to alphabet learning phonemes. They also concentrate on listening skills,
and development of communication skills through

Fingerprints And Fingerprints Of Fingerprints
As humans, we each contain our own unique fingerprints. Our fingerprints are so remarkably
distinctive that even identical twins do not share the same fingerprints . Because the palm surfaces of
our hands and feet retain the same constant ridges throughout our lifetimes, customary methods of
fingerprinting were able to exploit this for purposes of identification. Under the context of forensic
science, there are various types of fingerprints: impression, patent, and latent . An impression
fingerprint is what would be found if someone pressed his or her thumb down in clay for instance. It
creates a mold of sorts. A patent fingerprints are typically found on surfaces and can be visibly seen.
For example, window fingerprints or fingerprints ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The origin of fingerprint identification dates back to the late 19th century when groundbreaking
research on fingerprints was first published in the British scientific journal. Shortly after, Sir Galton
would make the popular fingerprint categorizations of arches, loops, and whorls. Fueled with this new
research, police agencies in London and Argentina began utilizing fingerprints as tools for
identification within their departments . In 1906, Captain Joseph A. Faurot of the New York City
police department was one of the first proponents to promote fingerprints for the purpose of criminal
investigation in the United States. In 1924, the Federal Bureau of Investigation began to formulate the
first fingerprint databases. This was essential to the viability of fingerprint identification as it served as
a catalyst for the databases we use today.
Today, the dominant framework used by fingerprint experts is the ACE V, short for analysis,
comparison, evaluation, and verification . Although the ACE V frame was developed and fingerprint
identification has been exercised for years, the validity of finger printing as a tool of identification
remains questionable. To understand this lack of certainty, we can delve into two clear opposing
opinions regarding fingerprint identification. Many in the academic

Graduate students have already developed a certain level of proficiency in learning new materials and
solving problems independently.
I believe the best approach for advanced graduate courses is to guide the students through a broad
range of topics so that they can perform in depth reading of the materials outside the class.
Following this philosophy, instead of presenting traditional lectures,
I gave reading assignment for each chapter of the main textbook, and designated one student to give a
lecture to the class every time. Toward the end of each lecture,
I added important points that were either not covered or not explained very clearly.
In this way, everyone in the class was actively engaged in reading course materials and participating in
discussions. Besides, I regularly organized reading session of original scientific papers to stimulate
thinkings and intriguing discussions.
I have taught the undergraduate course on textit{``Intermediate Electrodynamics } in the Spring

Tacoma Narrows Bridge Essay
Tacoma Narrows Bridge
One of the most influential engineering discoveries in the past century was the ill fated Tacoma
Narrows Bridge. Galloping Gertie as she was known to local residents, the massive Washington state
suspension bridge shook, rattled and rolled its way into the history books. Legendary in its time, the
Tacoma Narrows Bridge held many records and drew tourists from around the world in its short life.
However, the famous bridge is not known for its creative engineering or speedy construction,
unfortunately the bridge was destined to fail. That failure in turn changed the way every building is

After years of deliberation, state officials decided that the time had come to create the Washington Toll
Authority in order to save the necessary funding to build a bridge to span the Tacoma Narrows. In
1937 the project had begun, and officials sought a bridge designer to get their plan moving.
Leon Moisseiff was commissioned in 1937 to build a bridge that would rival the length of the
Brooklyn Bridge yet remain elegant and appealing to residents. He created a perfect design and the
project moved in search of contractors. From 1938 to 1940, continuous work constructed a suspension
bridge a mile long. At the time, the Tacoma Narrows was the third largest bridge in the world. The
design was simple yet slender, with two 420 foot tall towers and a pair of suspension cables
supporting the road. The towers were reinforced carbon steel to support the lengthy bridge. The
concrete deck was 39 feet wide and 8 feet deep. The girders were made of carbon steel anchored in
giant blocks of concrete. The design was narrower, lighter and more flexible than any other bridge in
the world. The Seattle Toll Authority expected to Leon s design to handle 60,000 vehicles a day and
increase travel to Olympic Peninsula.
The one mistake that caused this entire bridge to fail was a last minute change made by the contractors
early on in the build.

Mom? Dad? Where do babies come from? asked one of my children not too long ago. You might

Dad? How do babies get into a mommy s tummy and how do they come out? This inquiry certain
triumphs over the previous one. Questions are formed as minds and hearts contemplate the
information they are exposed to. Answers are pursued when the human soul undergoes the searching

Furthermore, we acknowledge that children also have a need to be reborn in water and the Spirit.
Therefore, they are baptized as soon as possible because their parents, as well as the Church, cannot
deny them the gift of becoming children of God. Indeed, infant baptism testifies that God says yes to
us in love even before we can say yes to Him in faith while summoning the community to look after
and support one another s faith journey. Nevertheless, Baptism puts us on the path of salvation and
new life but does not guarantee that we will arrive at the end of this path. Therefore, we must look for,

Traditional Instructional Method
Traditional teaching methods have continued for generations, and are still implemented today.
However, these instructional methods do not encourage students to own their own learning which in
turn leaves them as less engaged.
Author of How Teacher Education Matters Linda Darling Hammond wrote about the positive effects
training and development on teaching has on the teachers who under go them in contrast to those
teachers who had a small amount or even no training. Furthermore, teaching training and development
reforms that intensively wove expansive experimental training with assignments regarding how to
learn and how to teach produces teachers that have a higher probability of remaining in their chosen
teaching career. Therefore, teacher training plays a vital role in growing a teacher s ability to teach and
respond to practical situations that were merely just theory in training to their actual classrooms, and
then be able to evaluate and grow further.
In the last ten years their has been mass unhappiness with the education system especially with teacher
training programs. Assorted criticism towards education schools has arisen, claims from that they are
ineffective in shaping adequate teachers for their job, or that they do not respond to new demands, or
that they do not give students any practical experience, or even that they act as prevention to recruiting

Thus one may argue that it is the contribution pattern of core participants and not all contributors that
matters for the project. However, success of FLOSS projects is driven by masses and not individuals
where each contributor has a unique role to serve. For instance, approximately 70% of contributors in
FLOSS projects are one time contributors. However, their presence ensures popularity and interest in
project, and is appreciated. So if contributors cease to file issues it is an indicator of decreasing
popularity and influences the age of project. With decreasing contribution the project diminishes and
slowly dies out.
In this study we assume absence of activities in three months as an indicator of contributors leaving
the project. This assumption is localized. For instance, an owner who stop participating for three
months indicates that the contributor has left the project while a reporter may continue participation
even after a year. However, for planning this assumption holds as it indicates the trend of
participation. Also the data available in ITS may not answer all RQs that are of relevance to decision
makers. However, it gives justifiable understanding of stability of the project in a data driven and
objective manner.
Another extension of this work will be to study environmental factors that influences stability of
project by examining contributor participation patterns. We present study on trends of participation,

Leaders Like Martin Luther King, Jr.
Leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Winston Churchill and Hitler have one thing
in common; the word charisma is usually attached to them when people describe their characteristics
as a leader. Charisma defined by the online Merriam Webster Dictionary is a personal magic of
leadership arousing special popular loyalty or enthusiasm for a public figure (as a political leader); a
special magnetic charm or appeal (Merriam Webster, 2014). The Oxford Dictionary states that
charisma is Compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others (Oxford University
Press, 2014).
Max Weber (known as the father of sociology) first introduced the concept of charisma with the
relationship to power and authority. He described charisma as a personality trait that sets her/him apart
from the masses. The charismatic individual is deemed to have supernatural, superhuman, or to
possess exceptional power that is not readily accessible to a regular person (Weber, 1947). Weber
further believed that charisma was the result of a social crisis and that these leaders have extraordinary
appeal because they ...emerge with the radical vision that provides the solution to the crisis (Barbuto,
1997, p. 689). For example, Martin Luther King, Jr. arose in the civil rights movement as a beacon of
change, equality and eventually for peace.
The power of the charismatic leader is often defined by how the followers perceive and act.

  • 2. Analyzing The Poem The Lesson Of The Moth The Lesson of Life Every living thing on this earth has at least one thing in common, life. Every person/creature chooses to live their lives in their own way. If one should reach the short poem the lesson of the moth they would see two very different views on how one should live their life. Some people choose to live like the safe Roach, some people choose to live like the rash moth, and some people choose to live with a beautiful blend of the two. The roach in this story is the writer of this poem. He says he had a conversation with a moth and asked this moth why he was living so incautiously. The roach wants a safe life. He stresses that he did not agree with the moth s way of life. In fact, in this poem, he says I would rather have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Compare And Contrast Essay On The Enlightenment The Age of Reason, also known as the Enlightenment, took place in Europe in the 18th century. It became a time period that consisted of new knowledge and wisdom. People began to see the world in a different way, and began to think more logically. The Enlightenment was a major turning point in Europe since it led to new scientific discoveries, a secular way of viewing religion, and a shift in the way the government ruled. Before the Enlightenment philosophical ideas were not supported with evidence and just assumed to be correct. Many people in European society did not question or argue ideas shared by respected scientists. For example, many believed Aristotle in his belief that Earth was the center of the universe. Aristotle also thought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the Enlightenment, God was viewed as the creator of everything. Many believed that God controlled every aspect of life, and many concepts were credited to God. Yet when the idea of thinking with reason and logic came to light, people stopped using God as an explanation for everything. A new, secular view on religion began to form, which meant some people questioned religion while others found scientific explanations for God s existence. For example, many people believed in Deism. Deists believed that God made the world and then had no interaction with the events that occured. Deism said that God made it possible for people to discover laws as well as apply reason to ideas. Others believed in Pantheism which stated that nature and God were the same thing. All these new beliefs that came to light affected European society by helping minimize the reliance on religion and emphasize logical reasoning. The idea of questioning religion and tradition during the Enlightenment can be compared to the Reformation in 16th century. During the Reformation, religion was questioned in terms of papal authority, while in the Enlightenment, religion is questioned on terms of logic and reason. Both times in history led to more secular views on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Case Of Boxes, Llc, The Distribution Occurs 4 Transaction 1 Code Section 704(c)(1)(B) covers distributions of contributed property to another partner. Under this code section, if contributed property is distributed within seven years of the contribution date, the contributing partner must recognize some or all of the built in gain that was deferred at the date of contribution. In the case of Boxes, LLC, the distribution occurs 4 years after the contribution, so Bobby is subject to the recognition provisions. At the date of contribution, the land has a $350,000 built in gain. Recognition of this gain is deferred and the partnership takes a carryover basis of $250,000. When the land is distributed, the FMV of the land has increased to $870,000, increasing the built in gain to $620,000 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the date of contribution, the partnership took a carryover holding period in the land that Bobby contributed. As a result of the distribution, Larry will also take a carryover holding period of April 14th, 2003. The character of the gain recognized by Bobby is determined by how it was used by the partnership. Capital gain property is not subject to the five year character provisions under Section 724. Assuming that Boxes held the land as a capital asset rather than inventory, the gain recognized by Bobby would be capital in nature. Because Larry is not at least a 50% owner of the partnership, his intentions for the land are irrelevant in this matter. Transaction 2 In the event of the retirement of a partner with a disproportionate distribution, Code Section 751(b) provides guidance. In order for Section 751(b) to apply, the partnership must have both Section 751 and non section 751 property. Section 751 assets include unrealized receivables and substantially appreciated inventory. Because the inventory has not appreciated by 120%, of its adjusted basis, the only Section 751 property that Boxes of Books has is its receivables. Because Bobby s distribution of $845,000 exceeds his 35% share of $840,000, he will recognize a guaranteed payment of $5,000 under Section 736(a). Section 736(a) does not apply to the receivables ... • 5. Relationship Between Economic Growth And Economic Development Introduction Economic development is a new concept that came about in the early twentieth century. Although, theorists argue that Karl Marx has alluded to the concept earlier in 1887 . Historically, the increasing importance of the concept can be traced back to the needs approach of the ILO , World Bank and Amartya Sen s Capability approach (Sen, 1993). Gerald Meier defines economic development as the process whereby the real per capita income of a country increases over a long period of time subject to the stipulation that the number below an absolute poverty line does not increase and that the distribution of income does not become more unequal . Wherein, there is evidently a strong relationship between economic growth and development. This essay analysis the concept of the two terms economic growth and economic development by examining their characteristic approaches. In turn, understanding the relationship between them. Economic Growth Economic growth aims at removing obstacles that could come in the way of increasing an economy s productive capacity, like removing market imperfections that exist in an economy. Supplying the missing components like capital, foreign exchange, technology, skills, and management, which is needed for improving an economy s productive capacity. Consequently, expecting that the increased capacity of the economy would somehow reach the masses. Economic Development Economic development, on the other hand, aims at increasing the ... • 6. An Admirable Spanish Novel, The Ingenious Gentleman Don... Don Quixote fully titled The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha is an admirable Spanish novel by an eminent novelist Miguel De Cervantes. Cervantes wrote many novels while in prison but unfortunately this was the only reputed work produced by him which became world s first best seller and literature s great masterpiece. It encompasses the history, culture and the general environment in Spain. According to me, this magnum opus became so high flying because of its universally recognized matchless idea of Quixotism (pursuits of lofty romantic ideas) combined with the innovative characters. The concept of the novel is simple: Alonso Quijano (Don Quixote), landowner from La Mancha, is obsessed with his library of chivalrous books. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of the book also pertains with the thought of Quixotism and the invention of characters. Clearly, it was to undermine the influence of the vain and empty book of chivalry in order to provide some merry and prudent material for reader s entertainment. Although it is immaterial he did make a complete end to the further publications of chivalric romances. Cervantes himself wrote in the latter section of part 1, for chivalry, offers wide and spacious window through which the pen may run without any hindrance. Perhaps Don Quixote owes his genesis to these notions of his author. But as Cervantes launches his idealistic and possessed hero on a career open to public contempt, the possibilities of a many leveled, kaleidoscopic theme may have become apparent very early if the characters were not incorporated in a beguiling way. The way he integrated his character not only helped him produce an idealistic effect on his work but also kept track of his idea of Quixotism in the quixotic environment created by Don Quixote all throughout the novel So, while Cervantes is presenting a vivid ideology of Quixotism it was really requisite for him to have particular relationship with his characters as well as the reader and he did succeed in doing so. Don Quixote presents this interesting aspect of a novelist who learns and grows in coincidence with his own characters. As he lives with them and loves them, Cervantes investigates ... • 7. Planning Process Group Essay Assignment 1 1. Which process group starts at the start and ends at the end of the project and why? Monitoring and controlling is the process group that starts at the start and ends at the end as it performs integrated change control to manage and control changes to the cost baseline, scope and schedule. Further, it helps in analyzing and measuring the performance of the project and finding the variation of the project from the project management plan and provides asolutions to those problems. 2. Why does the closing process group start so early in the chart? Since some project deliverables get finished before and get the sponsor acknowledgment that is the reason the closing process group begins ahead of schedule in the chart. 3. Why do the planning and execution process groups have similar shapes and why is the executing process group skewed to the right? Both the planning and the execution process groups have the same shape as we know that everything that is thought ahead and gets regard in planning process group will be done in the execution process group. Since the execution is done when the fulfillment of the planning process group, the execution process group is tilted towards the right. Nonetheless, the most elevated measure of cash and time of all the process groups is taken by execution process group. 4. • 8. Essay on Media and Violence Introduction In this essay I will be analysing whether less visual violence within the media would mean less violence on the streets. Firstly, I will be questioning whether there is a connection between the viewing of media violence and actual acting upon it. To do this I will analyse the usefulness of the different methods used to approach such as complex issue. To illustrate this I will use examples of different media forms that seem to have been a catalyst for acts of violence. I will then attempt to come to a conclusion on whether less media violence could mean less acts of violence. Define Firstly, to begin to analyse the media effects of violence one must define the term violence. The fact that there are several different levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This post modern society can either have a positive affect or a negative one especially as technology and the media have become more advanced and widespread, for example technology can be used to cure diseases as well as allow terrorist attacks to occur. Postmodernist fear that the media will become so overpowering a dominant that it will create hyper reality whereby the distinctions between image and reality no longer exist (Jewkes, 2004: 26) Research Some argue that watching violence on screen may have a negative effect on the individual and may lead to that individual imitating that act. Many researchers especially psychologist have carried out studies attempting to prove that there is a correlation between the two commonly using experiments with the use of observations (Boyle, 2005). The most common way that researchers go about answering the question is by selecting a group of children, making them watch something which has a level of violence and analyses the way the children react to it after they have watched it (Bandura et al, 1963). There are many flaws when conducting such as study, one of them being that the study highly lacks in reliability. Even if there appears to be a link between media violence and street violence, the results would not be geographically consistent if the study was repeated as they fail to realise that the social situation of every individual is different, (Guanlett, 2001) therefore, generalising the study based ... Upon the arrival of her old friend Kristine Linde, Nora took it upon herself to find her friend a job since she had gone through a lot in her life. • 20. Summary Of The Evil Genius There s a saying in ballet that says Put Swan Lake on the billboard, and they will come. I think many of the audience were shocked, to say the least, that in the Bolshoi/Grigorovich version, there s no swan and no lake. In fact, audience reaction was muted, and it made for some awkward moments when the audience was dead silent and the dancers decided to come out for another bow. Grigorovich decided to make the whole ballet a vision conjured up by the Evil Genius. The Evil Genius mirrors Siegfried in all his dancing and actions, and swans appear from behind a curtain. In the third act a sextet of black swans and Odile are also conjured up by the Evil Genius from behind this curtain. This robs the ballet of any meaningful romantic connection between Odette and Siegfried. It s all a vision of the Evil Genius, remember? And in the final act, there s no reconciliation or forgiveness between Odette and Siegfried. The Evil Genius again whisks his swans behind the curtain. The end. Many iconic moments are gone: Odette doesn t make the flying entrance. Instead, she s already behind the curtain, and has to exit the stage before re entering. The entrance of the swans is also gone: they re already onstage behind that stupid curtain, then a few minutes later they re enter with the familiar flying arabesque sequence. This production ... • 21. The Kenyon Commencement Speech By David Foster Wallace I believe that existence is comprised of hundreds and millions of different realities intermingling and colliding into one another. I also believe that at the center of each reality there lies the individual who crafted it. Our perception of what is real and false exists solely in our own minds, and our minds are what determines the lense in which we perceive the world. Our perception is largely influenced by our psyche; how we live and think stems from our perception of the world. Our brains are directly influenced by a number of key factors, including but not limited to; societal connotations, individual experience, instinctual desires, environmental factors, and cognitive thought. These factors, as well as other conditions, are what determine our default setting. In his noteable This is Water speech, given at the 2005 Kenyon Commencement Address, David Foster Wallace argues a similar idea as he explains his take on the phrase teaching you how to think . Through his use of relatable parables and anecdotes and repetition and reverent focus of words like choice and awareness he paints a livid picture of the use of conscious choice in our daily lives. He stresses the concept of a self centered default setting that comes from an individual s blind certainty and the repercussions that deferring to that default can have on an individual s lifestyle and fulfilment. • 23. The Portrayal Of African Americans Essay How has the image of Africans develop from being savages to being portrayed as more human individuals? In other words, in what ways has the roles of African reversed over time? Refer to five or more of the assigned readings to support your assertions. A stereotype can be defined as a representational practice that categorizes and segregates an individual or group of individuals based on their differences, often associating him/her with a positive or negative label, such as, by outcasting an individual based on their racial and ethnic backgrounds (Hall 225). The image of Africans as savages is a common stereotype seen in American and European films that show Africans as barbaric and primitive creatures. Specifically in these films, a savage is an African who is constantly portrayed and characterized as a worthless, lazy, blood thirsty, cannibalistic beast who probably deserves to die (158). This is because Africans don t fit the stereotypical cookie cutter mold of what the directors consider normal (i.e. being a great white hunter), and therefore, they are immediately seen as insignificant and worthless individuals (158). Over time, as African produced films start forming an appearance in Hollywood, the perception of Africans slowly changes. In part because African directors represent their race as lead characters who are independent and smart. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Providing students with intensive phonological interventions during the early stages of learning development can help students improve in reading, writing, and spelling. Teachers may use various methods to instruct students during the interventions. Approaches such as structured system and multisensory are recommended based on the researchers in the field of dyslexia. Structured system involves taking steps such as alphabetic principles, reading, spelling, and writing. First, student will learn the phonemes, the vowels, and the syllables. Students need to learn the relationship between letters, sounds and words. Students will work on rhythm and rhymes such as alliteration to help them develop letter sound recognition. Then students will progress onto reading words when they are able to successfully match the phonemes to the letters. Multisensory involves using fingers, letter tiles to manipulate the letters and spell words. Using a combination of visualization and kinesthetic to help them memorize new vocabularies, which is similar to a Montessori setting. Montessori believed the ideal curriculum for children with dyslexia is multisensory, structured, cumulative, and sequential (Skotheim M.K, 2008). Children are able to experience language by spending time through tactile learning of tracing sounds to alphabet learning phonemes. They also concentrate on listening skills, and development of communication skills through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Fingerprints And Fingerprints Of Fingerprints As humans, we each contain our own unique fingerprints. Our fingerprints are so remarkably distinctive that even identical twins do not share the same fingerprints . Because the palm surfaces of our hands and feet retain the same constant ridges throughout our lifetimes, customary methods of fingerprinting were able to exploit this for purposes of identification. Under the context of forensic science, there are various types of fingerprints: impression, patent, and latent . An impression fingerprint is what would be found if someone pressed his or her thumb down in clay for instance. It creates a mold of sorts. A patent fingerprints are typically found on surfaces and can be visibly seen. For example, window fingerprints or fingerprints ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The origin of fingerprint identification dates back to the late 19th century when groundbreaking research on fingerprints was first published in the British scientific journal. Shortly after, Sir Galton would make the popular fingerprint categorizations of arches, loops, and whorls. Fueled with this new research, police agencies in London and Argentina began utilizing fingerprints as tools for identification within their departments . In 1906, Captain Joseph A. Faurot of the New York City police department was one of the first proponents to promote fingerprints for the purpose of criminal investigation in the United States. In 1924, the Federal Bureau of Investigation began to formulate the first fingerprint databases. This was essential to the viability of fingerprint identification as it served as a catalyst for the databases we use today. Today, the dominant framework used by fingerprint experts is the ACE V, short for analysis, comparison, evaluation, and verification . Although the ACE V frame was developed and fingerprint identification has been exercised for years, the validity of finger printing as a tool of identification remains questionable. To understand this lack of certainty, we can delve into two clear opposing opinions regarding fingerprint identification. Many in the academic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. What Is The Importance Of Teaching Courses At The Rice... Since coming to the Rice University in 2012, I have taught three courses at undergraduate and graduate levels. The large variety of audiences, ranging from undergraduate juniors, professional masters, first year graduate students, and advanced graduate students majored in nuclear and particle physics, required me to develop different teaching objectives and approaches. I have received strong positive feedback from the students. I am mentoring a highly productive research group consisting of postdoc fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Postdoc, Maxime Guilbaud, was awarded a textbf{2015 CMS Achievement Award} and a textbf{prestigious CERN research fellow} position. Zhenyu Chen successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis this ... I believe the best approach for advanced graduate courses is to guide the students through a broad range of topics so that they can perform in depth reading of the materials outside the class. Following this philosophy, instead of presenting traditional lectures, I gave reading assignment for each chapter of the main textbook, and designated one student to give a lecture to the class every time. Toward the end of each lecture, I added important points that were either not covered or not explained very clearly. In this way, everyone in the class was actively engaged in reading course materials and participating in discussions. Besides, I regularly organized reading session of original scientific papers to stimulate thinkings and intriguing discussions. I have taught the undergraduate course on textit{``Intermediate Electrodynamics } in the Spring semester since 2015. This is a core course for junior students majored in physics. It is the first time students systematically learn the important subjects such as Maxwell Equations and Special Relativity, and associated mathematical tools (such as vector and tensor algebra, partial differential equation, etc.), which are crucial for developing a solid ... Galloping Gertie as she was known to local residents, the massive Washington state suspension bridge shook, rattled and rolled its way into the history books. Legendary in its time, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge held many records and drew tourists from around the world in its short life. However, the famous bridge is not known for its creative engineering or speedy construction, unfortunately the bridge was destined to fail. That failure in turn changed the way every building is constructed today as well as further man s understanding of physics and the forces of nature. In this paper we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After years of deliberation, state officials decided that the time had come to create the Washington Toll Authority in order to save the necessary funding to build a bridge to span the Tacoma Narrows. In 1937 the project had begun, and officials sought a bridge designer to get their plan moving. Leon Moisseiff was commissioned in 1937 to build a bridge that would rival the length of the Brooklyn Bridge yet remain elegant and appealing to residents. He created a perfect design and the project moved in search of contractors. From 1938 to 1940, continuous work constructed a suspension bridge a mile long. At the time, the Tacoma Narrows was the third largest bridge in the world. The design was simple yet slender, with two 420 foot tall towers and a pair of suspension cables supporting the road. The towers were reinforced carbon steel to support the lengthy bridge. The concrete deck was 39 feet wide and 8 feet deep. The girders were made of carbon steel anchored in giant blocks of concrete. The design was narrower, lighter and more flexible than any other bridge in the world. The Seattle Toll Authority expected to Leon s design to handle 60,000 vehicles a day and increase travel to Olympic Peninsula. The one mistake that caused this entire bridge to fail was a last minute change made by the contractors early on in the build. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How do babies get into a mommy s tummy and how do they come out? This inquiry certain triumphs over the previous one. Furthermore, we acknowledge that children also have a need to be reborn in water and the Spirit. Therefore, they are baptized as soon as possible because their parents, as well as the Church, cannot deny them the gift of becoming children of God. Nevertheless, Baptism puts us on the path of salvation and new life but does not guarantee that we will arrive at the end of this path. Therefore, we must look for, encounter, and walk with Christ Jesus daily on this earth to heaven journey. He is truly the Way, the Truth, and the Life that will guide, enlighten, and empower us. However, these instructional methods do not encourage students to own their own learning which in turn leaves them as less engaged. Author of How Teacher Education Matters Linda Darling Hammond wrote about the positive effects training and development on teaching has on the teachers who under go them in contrast to those teachers who had a small amount or even no training. Furthermore, teaching training and development reforms that intensively wove expansive experimental training with assignments regarding how to learn and how to teach produces teachers that have a higher probability of remaining in their chosen teaching career. Therefore, teacher training plays a vital role in growing a teacher s ability to teach and respond to practical situations that were merely just theory in training to their actual classrooms, and then be able to evaluate and grow further. In the last ten years their has been mass unhappiness with the education system especially with teacher training programs. Assorted criticism towards education schools has arisen, claims from that they are ineffective in shaping adequate teachers for their job, or that they do not respond to new demands, or that they do not give students any practical experience, or even that they act as prevention to recruiting intelligent and passionate college students. In this section, we state and justify the choices we made in the study, its influence and also discuss the future scope of this work. In this paper, we present a case study on one real world, large, popular and open source project namely Google Chromium Project. Google Chromium has reportedly observed an increase in popularityfootnote{http://statcounter.com} (with respect to other similar projects) from 2009 to 2012 that is the duration of the study. However, success of FLOSS projects is driven by masses and not individuals where each contributor has a unique role to serve. For instance, approximately 70% of contributors in FLOSS projects are one time contributors. However, their presence ensures popularity and interest in project, and is appreciated. So if contributors cease to file issues it is an indicator of decreasing popularity and influences the age of project. With decreasing contribution the project diminishes and slowly dies out. In this study we assume absence of activities in three months as an indicator of contributors leaving the project. This assumption is localized. For instance, an owner who stop participating for three months indicates that the contributor has left the project while a reporter may continue participation even after a year. However, for planning this assumption holds as it indicates the trend of participation. Also the data available in ITS may not answer all RQs that are of relevance to decision makers. However, it gives justifiable understanding of stability of the project in a data driven and objective manner. Another extension of this work will be to study environmental factors that influences stability of project by examining contributor participation patterns. • 38. Leaders Like Martin Luther King, Jr. Leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Winston Churchill and Hitler have one thing in common; the word charisma is usually attached to them when people describe their characteristics as a leader. Charisma defined by the online Merriam Webster Dictionary is a personal magic of leadership arousing special popular loyalty or enthusiasm for a public figure (as a political leader); a special magnetic charm or appeal (Merriam Webster, 2014). The Oxford Dictionary states that charisma is Compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others (Oxford University Press, 2014). Max Weber (known as the father of sociology) first introduced the concept of charisma with the relationship to power and authority. He described charisma as a personality trait that sets her/him apart from the masses. The charismatic individual is deemed to have supernatural, superhuman, or to possess exceptional power that is not readily accessible to a regular person (Weber, 1947). Weber further believed that charisma was the result of a social crisis and that these leaders have extraordinary appeal because they ...emerge with the radical vision that provides the solution to the crisis (Barbuto, 1997, p. 689). For example, Martin Luther King, Jr. arose in the civil rights movement as a beacon of change, equality and eventually for peace. The power of the charismatic leader is often defined by how the followers perceive and act. Researchers believe that the leader ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
