Examples Of Suspense In The Cask Of Amontillado
Authors use many elements in their story to increase the suspense. Edgar Allan Poe makes his stories
intense and dark, just like The Cask of Amontillado . Poe uses irony and elements of setting in The
Cask of Amontillado to increase the suspense in the story. Poe uses irony in The Cask of Amontillado
to increase the suspense by making obvious hints to Fortunato that he will die soon. Fortunato clearly
did not get the hints. One irony is when Montresor told Fortunato And I to your long life . This is
verbal irony. Montresor clearly does not mean that he knows that Fortunato will be buried alive. Poe
uses verbal irony a lot in the text, he uses it to make the plot more suspenseful. Another example of
irony is Montresor s family motto

Footnote To Youth Sparknotes
In the book an old, girls orphanage burns down. The orphanage doesn t have enough money to rebuild
it s self, so all the girks have to find a home. All the younger girls get adopted and no one wants to
adopt the 7 teenagers. The matron gives each of those seven girls some money she s been saving and
tells them the little she knows about there past. She told Sara (the main character in the book) she s
Jewish, and she was born in Germany. She goes to Germany finds the doctor who signed the form to
let her go to Canada and he wants nothing to do with her. The doctors assistant desires to help her find

where records about everyone who died during the holocast were kept. When they went in they got

Comeback Churches Summary
In their book, Comeback Churches: How 300 Churches Turned Around and Yours Can Too, writers Ed
Stetzer and Mike Dodson report their discoveries concerning 324 churches that made rebounds from
five or more years of level and/or decrease. There is promise for the 70 to 80 percent of North
American houses of worship that are as of now in a condition of upkeep or decay. Comeback
Churches establishes a decent framework for perceiving the issue and will help pioneers in the Church
begin moving in the right heading. Furthermore, it makes an extraordinary showing with shielding the
requirement for Churches to genuinely assess the wellbeing and welfare of their body. A great guide to

[The church] lost sight of its true mission and purpose to simply make more and better followers of
Jesus Christ. [x] Stetzer and Dodson agree that churches desiring a comeback will need to make
changes in order to start growing again. [27] Grounded in scripture, each section intends to illuminate
the actions necessary to facilitate a turnaround, determining the status, preparation, and change
management.
Comprised of fourteen chapters, the authors are explicit in readers comprehending this as a guide
rather than a fix all in turning around their churches. One chapter or section will not facilitate a
change, rather a sequence of habits and efforts. Comprised of a large volume of statistical data, the
facts remain constant; declining or plateaued churches can rebound. However, it will require change,
change from the pulpit to the pews. Beginning with 0 or foundation, there are six criteria that should
exist in all biblical churches, and are prominently and frequently mentioned in Scripture [2]: (1)
Scriptural authority; (2) Biblical leadership; (3) Preaching and teaching; (4) Ordinances; (5) Covenant
community; and (6) Mission. Additionally, the foundation emphasizes the need of becoming a

Online Shopping And The Future Of All Business
Popularized by websites like Amazon and eBay. Online shopping and the virtual store may be the
future of all business. Online shoppers spent an estimated 126 billion in the U.S. alone in 2013. Seeing
exponential growth in coming years, Many major retailers have already made efforts to set up online
shops. Retail juggernauts like Walmart and Target have thrown their hats into the online arena with
websites of their own. Many more entrepreneurs have begun creating entire businesses online. The
reasons to take your company digital may be plentiful. As more of the world gains access to the
internet even more markets become accessible. With the advent of drone technology and better
delivery methods online sales and logistics are becoming easier and more cost efficient. Also online
stores and warehouses require less manpower making them cheaper. But a major impact of this growth
is the decline in recent years of big box retailers and subsequently the fall of The Mall . As more
consumers choose to do their shopping online many retailers and shopping centers are being left
behind. As the number of failing malls begin to rise and consumers choose in larger numbers to forgo
the lines and do their shopping online, it is a trend that we predict will grow in importance and impact
in the coming years. So in this paper we will discuss online retail and e commerce as a whole. We will
look at it s history and current impact. Then we will make some predictions

Impact Of Indonesia During The Age Of Exploration
Indonesia is the result of globalization, so is the world. During the Age of Exploration, one of the
major incidents was the relationship between India and Indonesia. Indian traders and missionaries
helped shape the Indonesia we know today. Piles of evidence indicate India s presence both before and
during the Age of Exploration. A source (Verma, Deepti.) claimed that there are evidences that prove
India s presence in Indonesia around the 200th BC. Around the 8th century, Indonesia was starting to
be greatly influence by the Indians; in fact many kingdoms, such as the Majapahit, Cailendra, and
Srivijaya empire, were heavily influenced by India as it is with some areas in now days Indonesia.

One of the significant obvious impacts is the 4 classes of society that highly influenced regions
adapted. It is not considered as castes, but is adapted to allow an ideal, peaceful, stable and ordered
society system. The 4 classes includes the top being brahmans that includes teachers and people who
do sacrifices, and then there s kasatrias which includes people who governs, then the waisyas that
includes farmers, lastly the sudras which includes artisans. And then there s the lower class that does
not go together with the other 4 classes, which are the chandalas that includes one who is depraved or
wicked (Fox, James J). When Hindus refer to the wicked or depraved, they are referring to people
whose occupancy are evil, have a low social status and live in a morally corrupt life despite their
ethical behavior. For example, a kind, respectful and religious man has the job of hunter killing
animals so then he is depraved. When this happen so, one can only be saved from their religious
damnation by the most powerful rites one needs to perform (Fox, James J), and so this is the Hindu
belief system. Besides this, some strongly influenced regions uses Indian law books that are mixed
with local laws and restrictions and/or requirements. And in courts that use such law, Hindu and
Buddhist priests then hold a high position and that court (Fox, James J). Because of the practices and
requirements, including some that were mentioned, of Hinduism, a lot of what matters to the
Indonesian Hindus are based on this belief system. What matters and what don t changes the whole

Domestication Of Animals, The Bantu Migrations
Continuity and change helps us understand what has changed or remained the same over the course of
history. It allows us to examine certain patterns or cultural influences and how they have either faded
from history or still remain significant today. Domestication of animals, the Bantu Migrations, and the
rise of Islam are key elements that will be discussed. Domestication is a very useful skill that has
remained the same for many years. Animals can be used for meat, milk, wool, etc. They are also used
as farming tools and transportation. Certain animals much better suited to domestication than others;

Ban Zhao is another significant individual who help shape modern concepts. She was born in the first
century, AD, during the Later Han Dynasty (Gregory p. 123).
She is significant in Chinese history because of her writings and teachings of the Admonitions for
Women using a Confucian approach to define appropriate behavior (Gregory p. 123).
She objected that many families taught their sons to read, but not their daughters and would go on to
become an advocate of the education of women. The Admonitions for Women became one of the most
commonly used texts for the education of Chinese women (McKay et al, p. 166).
If Confucius and Mencius were trying to create the superior man (junzi) then Ban Zhao was trying to
create the female version of that (Gregory p. 123). As defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary,
feminism is the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. By this definition,
Ban Zhao was a feminist in her teachings and ideas which will be applied for many years into modern
civilization.

Vibrio Natriegen s Generation Time
Title: Vibrio natriegens s generation time and optimal growth environment using a Closed Growth
System.
Abstract: The objective of this experiment is to find out what the optimal growth environment is for V.
natriegens out of three different environments. The first is a Brain Heart Infusion broth (BHI) that
contains 50 mM of NaCl. The second is BHI containing 250 mM of NaCl. The third is BHI containing
1000 mM NaCl. In order to obtain this, a growth curve graph must be constructed for each different
environment, and the generation time of the bacteria in each environment must be calculated. The
optimal environment for V. natriegens was found to be the BHI with 250 mM of NaCl.

It is the y value posted in the upper right hand corner. The following data was obtained from the
Closed System Growth experiment:
As shown in the figure above, it is evident that V.natriegens grew faster when the Brain Heart Infusion
(BHI) broth contained 250mM NaCl. The # of bacterial cells at each time point was measured
following the equation given in the How to generate a bacterial growth curve supplemental material
posted on D2L. (2) The data was then recorded in the table listed above. A growth curve graph was
constructed using the data above which illustrated the differences between each of the different BHI
mixtures. The graph was then used to determine the generation time of V.natriegens for each different
environmental condition. In order to calculate the generation time (g) the mean growth rate (k) must
be calculated. The formula to do this is posted in the supplemental material How to generate a
bacterial growth curve on D2L. The k value calculated for each condition goes as follows:
At 50 mM NaCl k= 2.2 generations per hour
At 250 mM NaCl k= 4.7 generations per hour
At 1000 mM NaCl k= 3.2 generations per hour
The generation time for each condition goes as follows:
At 50 mM NaCl g= .45 hours per generation
At 250 mM NaCl g= .21 hours per generation
At 1000 mM NaCl g= .31 hours per generation
With all of these calculations the environment that is optimal for V. natriegens was determined.

Scopes Trial Research Paper
The Scopes Trial is part of a series most commonly known as the trial of the century. In this series
there are many trials which are looked as revolutionary and important part of history. But even though
some trials may be big, they don t make it into the trial of the century just because their concept and
ideology isn t a very controversial and doesn t make you choose one side or the other. The Scopes
Trial, also known as the Monkey Trial, didn t have much do with the case itself but what it actually
stands for. The Scopes Trial set in motion a debate which still hasn t been properly dealt with and

may change their child and fail them in life which is also natural to think for someone one loves. But
when we go along and think that everyone would be better their way then this causes mass troubles for
the people who opposes that view (like the agnostics in Dayton or Mr Darrow s dad) and I feel that
one should not do that and be open minded to all ideas and if one disagrees then one should look away

Sedimentary Rock Evolution
Analyzing the change in species over time utilizes the support from many disciplines of science in
order to come to the most plausible explanation of said change. Geology more specifically, the fossil
record is one such discipline that elicits profound insight on speciation. The fossil record is best
described as life s evolutionary story as it clearly shows sequential change in organisms throughout
time by providing a starting point and in many cases transitional fossils as benchmarks for
comparison. Sedimentary rock is crucial to this process as it is what cements organisms in time at their
time of death. Sedimentary rock is common on Earth and formed by the weathering of older rocks. As
this weathering occurs organisms that have died are buried in the sediments produced and preserved as

These fossils can range from footprints left by an organism or skeletal structures such as the pelvic
girdle of a fish. Fossils allow scientists to expound on the evolutionary history of an organism by
providing features to follow throughout time. Scientists have pieced together the evolution of flight in
birds and the structures needed to accomplish this task by documenting changes that took place in the
forelimbs, clavicle, and pelvis from current birds back to their pre winged ancestors. Additionally, the
evolution of paired appendages and subsequent loss in some vertebrates has been well documented in
the fossil record and specifically the stickleback. After the recession of the glaciers, populations of
stickleback were scattered in isolated lakes throughout the northern hemisphere. Fish in lakes with no
predation lost their pelvic spines since there was no evolutionary advantage to maintain them. By
analyzing the fossils of stickleback scientists were able to see this change occurred over the span of

A Rhetorical Analysis Of The Python Challenge By Dave Barry
Dave Barry is the writer of the article about the Python Challenge encouraging people to go out and
kill pythons as competition. Throughout the article he uses many rhetorical strategies all the while,
keeping a sarcastic and sardonic tone. The author begins his article with a rhetorical question with the
intent to pull the reader s attention towards his topic. The question he asks Would you like to make
some extra money, and at the same time run the risk of being eaten... draws the reader s attention out
and makes them want to continue reading to find out what it is they could do to get money but run the
risk of being eaten. The tone of Dave Barry s article in the first three paragraphs would be mostly

The Epidemic Of Obesity And Obesity
There s an appalling epidemic in today s society sweeping across not only the United States, but all
across the globe. This horrible epidemic isn t the bird flu, or any type of sickness, rather obesity.
Today, obesity rates are at an all time high in America. This disease, obesity, is being passed down the
family both genetically, and by the terrible eating habits developing in the US. Kids growing up in this
generation are facing frightening issues such as increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood
pressure, etc., the list goes on. Zinczenko proves this in his text Don t Blame the Eater, when he says,
Before 1994, diabetes in children was generally caused by a genetic disorder Only about 5 percent of
childhood causes were obesity related, or Type 2, diabetes. Today, according to the National Institute
of Health, Type 2 diabetes accounts for at least 30 percent of all new childhood cases of diabetes in
this country. (Zinczenko 463) The sad part about it, is these kids more time than not, are born into
these types of situations. There s no surprise that obesity rates in America are directly correlated with
the increasing amount of fast food chains popping up on every street corner. These fast food
restaurants are masters of the art of advertising, and are using it as the strongest way of increasing
sales. This is very dangerous because not all advertisements are true, despite what the common
American might think, and it can be used to sway people s thoughts

Taking a Look at the Watergate Scandal
The late 1960s to the mid 1970s was characterized by political controversy and instability. The
Watergate crisis is the most infamous scandal that occurred within those years, and arguably, in
American political history. The event occurred in 1972 and it redefined American political culture.
Nixon s involvement in the incident (and other controversies leading up to Watergate) led to a loss of
faith in government and a transition to the public s reliance on the media. However, Watergate s long
term positive effects negate its obviously negative reputation. The scandal transformed the ethical
environment of politics by yielding a series of progressive changes to government administration.

men were arrested early that morning. They were found in possession of electronic equipment
designed for communication and surveillance. When discovered, they were also carrying cash and
wearing surgical gloves. These men intended to obtain sensitive information and photograph
important documents. Soon following the first arrest, two more men were arrested with direct links to
break in at the democratic national convention. The break in was initially labelled as a third rate
burglary by the White House Press, and the 1972 election passed seamlessly, results uninfluenced by
the event. In fact, Nixon was re elected with the largest popular vote landslide in history. However, as
the trial of the Watergate burglary progressed, it soon became evident that the event originated within
the White House. One of the men, James McCord was a retired CIA agent, and another, E. Howard

as G. Gordon Liddy, the general counsel to Nixon s Committee to Re elect the President. Several

continuously recorded conversations inside the Oval Office. Knowing

The Consequences Of Domestic Violence
Abstract: Domestic violence is something that is overlooked in many aspects. While reading my paper
you will learn about different types of domestic violence. How every type is different than the other.
Each type hurts not only the victim, but everybody in the abuser and the victim s lives. Children are
usually the witnesses in these situations and tend to be caught in the middle. You will learn how this
affects them now and how it affects them later in life. There are also many reasons that someone turns
to domestic violence, and all of those topics will be discussed. Finally, you will learn about the
treatments available and all the ways to get help. After reading this paper I hope that you will be a
little more informed on the consequences of domestic violence. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have
been victims of [some form of] physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime
(Statistics). Domestic violence is one of the things that I think we as people don t take as serious as
other things. Reading that statistic was painfully chilling, and the scariest part is how much of it goes
unnoticed. My favorite part of the statistic was the part where it tells you how many men have been a
victim of this kind of violence, because factually that is something that is always overlooked.
Domestic violence isn t something that should be taken lightly and it definitely shouldn t be something
that is brushed off your shoulders if it happens to you and/or if it s happened

Interpretation By Summarizing. To Summarize Is To State
Interpretation by Summarizing
To summarize is to state the most important points. We might try to summarize the Bible. We might
try to summarize some scientific observations. We might try to summarize our experiences. We might
try to summarize this book.
Many of our statements are summaries. It would be nice if we could interpret our observations and
experiences by pure objective summarizing. It s very difficult though. Our worldviews get in the way.
Anytime we summarize, we leave out information that we consider minor. We only include
information that we consider the most important information. That makes it very easy to distort reality
into something that looks real but isn t real. There are several problems with summaries. These ...

During analysis, we tend to unconsciously add elements of the worldview and create an illusion. What
we ve built in our worldviews seems real. When we add unreal elements from our worldviews, we
think those unreal elements are real. Worldviews give that illusion. During analysis, we often
unconsciously filter some elements out if those elements aren t part of our worldviews. In addition, we
don t have a way of knowing that we have identified all the elements unless God reveals such a thing
to us. The worldview is a deceitful filter. For this reason, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide us in the
process. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to correct us when we get it wrong.
Interpretation can t add information. It s not a source of new knowledge. It can give us a better
understanding of the information that exists. Without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the human mind
is deceitful and will automatically distort the interpretation.
Explanations as a Way of Knowing
During the Q A session, Bill made the following statement:
We challenge you; tell us why the universe is accelerating. Tell us why these mothers were getting
sick. And we found an explanation for it.
Explanations aren t found. Explanations are made up. The word explanation exposes wrong thinking
about how we can know. Bodie Hodge gives this example:
Now I want the readers to understand that just because someone has an explanation for something,
that doesn t make it true. The Greeks

Wilson is widely known for his celebrated causes, first in 1990 for his high published demand for a

the reader is supposed to view Troy as a person. Wilson believed in the rights of blacks and he shows
this by having his main character Troy fight for his right to be a driver instead of a hard labor worker
at his job at the land fill. Because of the way blacks were treated and viewed on the job site Troy was
afraid to speak up about his feelings. Eventually, Troy built up the courage to go and speak to his boss,

conference call that day. Things in Coudersport quickly spun out of control as shareholders asked for
clarity and transparency. The revelations and the investigation that followed sent the company
spiraling deeper and deeper into a scandal that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
eventually called, one of the most extensive financial frauds ever to take place at a public company .
The stock continued to fall and on May 15, 2002 John Rigas resigned as chairman and CEO. In the
Securities and Exchange Commission v Adelphia Communications Corporation 2002, the SEC
charged Adelphia of three specific acts. First, executives fraudulently excluded billions of dollars in
liabilities from its consolidated financial statements by hiding them in off balance sheet affiliates.
Adelphia management kept this liability off the books by allocating the co borrowing loans among its
unconsolidated subsidiaries. Debt of the subsidiary was increased and Adelphia s bank debt was
reduced by the same amount. It gave investors the false impression that the company was leveraging
and paying off debts. The company made additional misrepresentations in public statements and
filings to keep up this appearance as well as creating bogus transactions and fictitious documents to

How Does Orangutans Affect Human Behavior
Orangutans are the world s largest arboreal mammal. The adults can get very big in size; some of them
can get up to between 120 pounds all the way to a close 200. They also can stand up very tall and get
up to between four to five feet, which is literally my grandma s height. Orangutan s hair colors are
slightly different than one another. Some have dark orange, brown orange and sometimes even pale
orange. Those are some of the rare colors you will see in orangutans; the most common hair color for
an orangutan is reddish orange. Their physical appearance is almost looking at a human being who is
very hairy. They have almost everything we have and look just like them for example. Orangutans

wonder if they think the same thing. From what I can remember I honestly think the local ecology
behavior doesn t really affect anything. To me I think it s normal, I mean they have been living like
this for thousands of years and have adapted to it. I do think that humans and orangutans can relate to
the ecology behavior. For example our human ecology is basically a short term of having an
interrelationship between humans and our social, economic and political organizations. The
development of tool use amongst the apes is truly an amazing thing seeing as for us that is probably
how we once started out as. Slowly making and building new tools for our survival and comfort needs
is really a remarkable thing. Orangutans are beautiful creatures and we must learn as much as we can

How Does Mining Affect Australian Economy
Aluminium is extracted from the metal ore bauxite. Bauxite is mined in various mines across
Australia. There are two bauxite mines currently operating in Alcoa, Western Australia. These mines
are the Huntly mine, located near Dwellingup and the Willowdale mine located east of Waroona.
Mining and Extraction process of Aluminium
Aluminium is mined on the surface of the crust. The extraction is done by electrolysis. Aluminium
oxide has a high melting point at over 2 000°C, as a result it is expensive to melt it, so, it is dissolved
in molten cryolite.
This diagram shows an aluminium oxide electrolysis tank. both the negative electrode and positive
electrode are made of graphite. Aluminium metal forms at the negative electrodes and falls to the
bottom of the tank, where it is siphoned off. This is how aluminium ... Show more content on

The mining process involves many big vehicles and other technology that release huge amounts of
pollution into the atmosphere speeding up global warming and causing climate change.
How does mining help the Australian Economy
Australia can sell most of what they mine for huge profits as they are nonrenewable resources and can
be used for many different things including jewellry or petrol. Also hundreds of people in Australia are
involved in the mining business so that raises the Australian economy.
Is it in Australia s best interests to mine metals?
I believe that Australia s best interests are not to mine metals, as there are more important issues and
better and more energy efficient ways to save money and power machines. Terrorism should be all
countries best interests as people all over the world are dying and wounded for people s beliefs. Also
solar and wind energy are just two energy efficient ways to power objects. It is better for the
environment than fossil fuels and carries only few

Different Models And Theories Associated With Adult Learning
There is several different models and theories associated with adult learning. Through my research it
seems that andragogy is the first thing educators think of when adult learning process is mentioned.
Malcolm Knowles says, Andragogy is the art and science of helping others learn (Merriam, Caffarella,
Baumgartner, 2007). Andragogy are learning strategies focused on adults. It is often interpreted as the
process of engaging adult learners with the structure of the learning experience (Clardy, 2005).
Andragogy is an assumption that there are different characteristics and requirements when it comes to
learning between adults and children. Therefore, the learning procedures used in teaching adults must
be altered from the pedagogical procedures related to teaching children. Andragogy is based on five
assumptions concerning the adult learner (ASTD, 2007).
First is the assumption that as a person matures, their self concept moves from a dependent personality
towards more of a self directing personality. (Merriam et al., 2007). At this point the learner is
considered self directed. The second assumption is that an adult accumulates a growing reservoir of
experience, which is a rich resource for learning (Merriam et al., 2007). Basically, adults can utilize
their experiences to influence themselves and others. Third, the readiness for an adult to learn is in
close relation to the developmental tasks of the adult s social role. (Clardy, 2005). This readiness to
learn is a direct

Write An Essay On The Battle Of Verdun
The Battle of Verdun Introduction The Battle of Verdun was between the German and French armies
which took place around the city of Verdun sur Meuse in North East France from February 21 to
December 18, 1916. This battle was the largest, longest and amongst the most important battles in
First World War on the Western Front. The war resulted to deaths of about quarter of a million people
and left another half a million injured. The Battle of Verdun popularized by the phrase ill ne passeront
pas meaning they shall not pass brought much destruction and caused people to think of it as the war
to end all wars. History of Verdun and Background of the Battle In 1648, the Peace of Munster treaty
awarded Verdun to France. Due to the city s strategic location on Meuse River, it played a crucial role
in the defense of its surroundings. In the 1870s, Séré de Rivière devised a programme to build two
lines of fortresses from Belfort to Epinal and from Verdun to Toul which were defensive screens and
also enclosed towns which were intended to be bases for counterattacks. The forts were made ... Show

How To Juggle Three Tennis Balls
The past weeks we have been learning how to juggle in class with three tennis balls. We were given

that were able to juggle because they were taught at a younger age or already knew how to do so. We
were trying to get through the three stages of motor learning, cognitive, associative, and automaticity
stages. During the first stage, cognitive, I was confused and had no idea what was going on in the
situation. I was in completely lost when it came to juggling. I never really understood how to juggle

is at the cognitive or even the associative stage they need practice to get to the automaticity stage.
Another strategy is to give them hints on how to do the skill, with other people telling you how to do it
helps you understand it more and eventually get it to the automaticity stage. The last strategy is that
the student will be able to experiment the skills on their own, by that I mean trying different
techniques to accomplish the task at hand. For example, while juggling have the students try different
ways to start throwing the ball and catching them with different hands to see what feels more

Mexican American Studies Should Not Be Banned
America is woven of many strands. Our fate is to become one, and yet many (Ralph Ellison qtd. in D
Angelo). Although this quote may be over fifty years old, its meaning still stands; our country should
be made of many different cultures and ethnicities that come together to make one United States.
However, this cannot be accomplished if our nation does not allow for different cultures to learn about
their own country and hold on to their heritage as well as gaining knowledge on the history of the
United States. Thus, Mexican American studies should not be banned in Arizona because contrary to
the belief that learning about other cultural struggles is anti American, actually focusing on the racial
identities within the United States is an important step towards becoming a multicultural nation.
The United States of America is a nation based on the idea of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of
happiness, the people from this country have an obligation to make sure that every American can
experience these given rights. However by banning Mexican American studies in Arizona, this right to
express and learn about their culture is taken away. According to Kirk Semple of the New York Times,
about 41 percent of all Mexicans between ages 16 and 19 [in the city] have dropped out of school.
There could be a plethora of reasons why this statistic may be so high for Mexican Americans,
however, based on the statements made by students in the documentary Precious Knowledge, there

Individual Diffferences
Describe and evaluate the ways in which environmental factors can impact on the development of an
individual s personality and intelligence.
The discussion in this essay entails the extent to which environmental factors impact an individual s
development of personality and intelligence. Development can be defined as improvement in function
which would imply that it occurs with the progression of age. Personality has been found to have a
substantial genetic influence however economic and social factors have been found to effect the
development of personality traits such as stereotypes. On the other hand, the development of an
individual s intelligence has much supporting evidence stating that environmental factors such as
education have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a person who would be described as an extravert who has lively trait may experience
extreme poverty leading to changes in their character therefore new traits may be portrayed in their
personality.
Behavioural genetics explains the development of personality and intelligence by emphasising the role
of genes in guiding our behaviour in a particular context or environment. In today society, children
within an institution may score differently on assessments, even when the teaching provided is the
same. This questions if intelligence is innate. Other factors such as health, family circumstances,
access to technology, wealth should also be considered. Research suggest that if we were to provide
all members of a population with an environment that is uniform in regards to intelligence, then
estimates of genetic influences would increase (Brody 1992). Biological explanations show that
differences in the male and female brain suggest differences in intelligence between the sexes.
However, generalising that intelligence is based on the structures of the brain would be an over
simplification and attitudes to learning and environmental influences would give a better
understanding.
Intelligence is not simply ones IQ result but can be referred to an individual s intellectual functioning
(APA 2013). Environmental factors affecting intelligence are many such as nutrition, education and
the environment lived in as well as having an effect on religion,

Their beliefs influence the kind of work they produced because their work are both abstract but driven
different conceptually. Their work exuded formal simplicity possessing two essential characteristics:
simplicity of forms and restricted use of the color. Vladimir Tatlin, had studied with Larionov, visited
Paris in 1912. There the Cubism suggested the idea to build models in relief, and was dedicated, from
then, to carry out constructions of glass, metal and wood. Exploring the volumes in its interaction with
the space, basically they are formed by the outright intersection and lines with the ones that openings

and with the real space that contains them.
Toward 1913, these were completely abstract and they were going to be the base of another
movement, constructivism to which Pevsner and Gabo would later unite. The constructivists thought
that the artists should try constantly to discover and to utilize new forms, since the same life

Explain Why William Win The Battle Of Hastings
WHY DID WILLIAM WIN THE BATTLE OF HASTINGS?
The Battle of Hastings took place in 1066 because Edward the Confessor died leaving no heir to the
throne. Almost immediately Harold Godwinson seized the throne and declared himself king but he had
two opponents, Harald Hadrada and William of Normandy. William eventually won the battle and was
crowned King of England, this piece of writing explains why.
One major reason why William won the Battle of Hastings is that Harold s army was not prepared to
fight William as they had been in the east fighting Harald Hadrada. They were immediately forced to
move south towards the coast and fight William, even though Harold s army was now severely smaller
then before the battle of Stamford Bridge, as many of his men had deserted him.
William also had good tactics and when Harold s shield wall was too strong for William s cavalry to
break through, so his men pretended to retreat, causing the Saxons to run after them, including some
men in the shield wall, which meant that the shield wall was now broken. ... Show more content on

north east to fight Harald, whilst at the same time William had arrived in England and was preparing
his men for battle, feeding them and letting them have some rest, whilst Harold s were fighting and his
numbers decreasing. Eventually Harald Hadrada was killed and Harold Godwinson won the battle, but
news soon came through that William had invaded in the south and Harold had to march his men then

hesitation. These behaviors prevent people from taking action. Instead, they hold back or complain as
others initiate new action. The result is that a needed change effort is derailed. The first step is not to
create a vision. This is especially true if your organization is in crisis, if alligators are nipping at your
feet. If they stand on a burning platform, they have no choice but to take immediate action, to jump
away from their comfortable positions. Assembling a team to discuss the organization s new vision
won t be very successful, because team members will be worried more about self preservation than the

The Purpose of Theatre during the 20th Century
The Purpose of Theatre during the 20th Century Throughout centuries, theatre has been an enormous
impact throughout society. During the 18th century, theatre had played a significant role to society
because it emphasized Rationalism (The Age of Reason), which began to lead away from the
limitations of Neoclassicism. Then in the 19th century, theatre was important because it introduced
Melodrama or music drama to increasingly emphasize the emotions and personalities of the
characters. And finally the 20th century, in which where it had transformed the whole ideology of
what theatre was truly represented. One purpose of theatre during the 20th century was to emphasize
realism. Realism had initially begun as an experiment to make theatre more impactful to society. It
was a reaction against the 19th century s ideology of theatre, melodrama. It had soon become a well
known innovation in mainstream theatre. Due to its common ideology, it had also caused adventurous
innovations to aspire as well. The reason for emphasizing realism was for realistic artists to create an
illusion of everyday life onstage.
A similar movement to realism that changed the ideology of theatre was naturalism; a movement that
had originally began in France in the 19th century and spread throughout Europe in the 20th century.
Naturalists rebut that the presentation should be represented as a slice of life . Many of the naturalists
believed that the most appropriate

Loan For A New Loan
Due to the recession, many households became financially burdened. As the economy suffered many
people faced job loss or at the very least a decrease in income, therefore, leading to many foreclosures.
Because of the impact a foreclosure has on one s credit score, these individuals are not able to qualify
for a new loan on another house. Fortunately there are other options in buying a house besides
qualifying for a loan such as owner finance and rent to own. Owner finance allows those who cannot
qualify for a loan the ability to have the owner of the property finance them. This option replaces the
bank with the owner of the property. It allows one to have the ability of owning a home who has a
lower credit score or is still going through bankruptcy. The owner who is financing the home can be
more flexible than a bank in the conditions of the loan such as a down payment, interest rates, and
mortgage payments. The owner can allow someone to pay the down payment in instalments instead of
all at once which is ideal for those who can qualify for a loan but do not enough money saved. Most
banks require at least a three percent down payment which is thousands of dollars and the more
expensive a house is the more money the down payment is. However, the owner can agree to
instalments once a week or once a month which gives the purchaser of the home the ability to
purchase the home without saving years in advance. Also, the owner may have a lower interest rate on
the loan than the

How Technology Has Broadened The Spectrum Of Applications
4. EMERGING DEVICES
The continuous scaling of CMOS technology has broadened the spectrum of applications. Complex
architectures can be now realized on a single chip. The integration of existing and new technologies
with CMOS extends the scope of implementation.
Figure 3 : Relationship among More Moore, More than Moore, and Beyond CMOS
4.1 More than Moore
The functional diversification of the semiconductor based devices by non digital components is More
than Moore implementation. These non digital functionalities may not scale at the same rate as the
digital components. The non digital components are capable of interacting with outside world through
sensors and actuators. This integration of functions like analog and mixed signal processing, addition
of passive, power components and bio chips increases the range of applications such as
communications, automotive, biomedical and security. As integration grows so does the challenges, it
demands the need for multidisciplinary research programs to run in pace with growing scientific
fields.
4.2 More Moore
The expansion of the CMOS by conventional dimensional scaling to reduce the cost per function and
improved performance is More Moore. This also comes with resource scarcity such as power
availability and reduced flexibility in interconnects. Power dissipation becomes a critical problem in
such devices due to large logic circuits. Since the battery capacity has not improved much but the
amount of logic in SoC almost doubles

  • 2. Examples Of Suspense In The Cask Of Amontillado Authors use many elements in their story to increase the suspense. Edgar Allan Poe makes his stories intense and dark, just like The Cask of Amontillado . Poe uses irony and elements of setting in The Cask of Amontillado to increase the suspense in the story. Poe uses irony in The Cask of Amontillado to increase the suspense by making obvious hints to Fortunato that he will die soon. Fortunato clearly did not get the hints. One irony is when Montresor told Fortunato And I to your long life . This is verbal irony. Montresor clearly does not mean that he knows that Fortunato will be buried alive. Poe uses verbal irony a lot in the text, he uses it to make the plot more suspenseful. Another example of irony is Montresor s family motto ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comeback Churches Summary In their book, Comeback Churches: How 300 Churches Turned Around and Yours Can Too, writers Ed Stetzer and Mike Dodson report their discoveries concerning 324 churches that made rebounds from five or more years of level and/or decrease. There is promise for the 70 to 80 percent of North American houses of worship that are as of now in a condition of upkeep or decay. Comeback Churches establishes a decent framework for perceiving the issue and will help pioneers in the Church begin moving in the right heading. Furthermore, it makes an extraordinary showing with shielding the requirement for Churches to genuinely assess the wellbeing and welfare of their body. [The church] lost sight of its true mission and purpose to simply make more and better followers of Jesus Christ. [x] Stetzer and Dodson agree that churches desiring a comeback will need to make changes in order to start growing again. [27] Grounded in scripture, each section intends to illuminate the actions necessary to facilitate a turnaround, determining the status, preparation, and change management. Comprised of fourteen chapters, the authors are explicit in readers comprehending this as a guide rather than a fix all in turning around their churches. One chapter or section will not facilitate a change, rather a sequence of habits and efforts. Comprised of a large volume of statistical data, the facts remain constant; declining or plateaued churches can rebound. However, it will require change, change from the pulpit to the pews. Beginning with 0 or foundation, there are six criteria that should exist in all biblical churches, and are prominently and frequently mentioned in Scripture [2]: (1) Scriptural authority; (2) Biblical leadership; (3) Preaching and teaching; (4) Ordinances; (5) Covenant community; and (6) Mission. Online shoppers spent an estimated 126 billion in the U.S. alone in 2013. Seeing exponential growth in coming years, Many major retailers have already made efforts to set up online shops. Retail juggernauts like Walmart and Target have thrown their hats into the online arena with websites of their own. Many more entrepreneurs have begun creating entire businesses online. The reasons to take your company digital may be plentiful. As more of the world gains access to the internet even more markets become accessible. With the advent of drone technology and better delivery methods online sales and logistics are becoming easier and more cost efficient. Also online stores and warehouses require less manpower making them cheaper. But a major impact of this growth is the decline in recent years of big box retailers and subsequently the fall of The Mall . As more consumers choose to do their shopping online many retailers and shopping centers are being left behind. As the number of failing malls begin to rise and consumers choose in larger numbers to forgo the lines and do their shopping online, it is a trend that we predict will grow in importance and impact in the coming years. So in this paper we will discuss online retail and e commerce as a whole. We will look at it s history and current impact. Then we will make some predictions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the Age of Exploration, one of the major incidents was the relationship between India and Indonesia. Indian traders and missionaries helped shape the Indonesia we know today. Piles of evidence indicate India s presence both before and during the Age of Exploration. A source (Verma, Deepti.) claimed that there are evidences that prove India s presence in Indonesia around the 200th BC. Around the 8th century, Indonesia was starting to be greatly influence by the Indians; in fact many kingdoms, such as the Majapahit, Cailendra, and Srivijaya empire, were heavily influenced by India as it is with some areas in now days Indonesia. One of the significant obvious impacts is the 4 classes of society that highly influenced regions adapted. It is not considered as castes, but is adapted to allow an ideal, peaceful, stable and ordered society system. The 4 classes includes the top being brahmans that includes teachers and people who do sacrifices, and then there s kasatrias which includes people who governs, then the waisyas that includes farmers, lastly the sudras which includes artisans. And then there s the lower class that does not go together with the other 4 classes, which are the chandalas that includes one who is depraved or wicked (Fox, James J). When Hindus refer to the wicked or depraved, they are referring to people whose occupancy are evil, have a low social status and live in a morally corrupt life despite their ethical behavior. For example, a kind, respectful and religious man has the job of hunter killing animals so then he is depraved. When this happen so, one can only be saved from their religious damnation by the most powerful rites one needs to perform (Fox, James J), and so this is the Hindu belief system. Besides this, some strongly influenced regions uses Indian law books that are mixed with local laws and restrictions and/or requirements. And in courts that use such law, Hindu and Buddhist priests then hold a high position and that court (Fox, James J). It allows us to examine certain patterns or cultural influences and how they have either faded from history or still remain significant today. Animals can be used for meat, milk, wool, etc. They are also used as farming tools and transportation. She was born in the first century, AD, during the Later Han Dynasty (Gregory p. 123). She objected that many families taught their sons to read, but not their daughters and would go on to become an advocate of the education of women. The Admonitions for Women became one of the most commonly used texts for the education of Chinese women (McKay et al, p. 166). If Confucius and Mencius were trying to create the superior man (junzi) then Ban Zhao was trying to create the female version of that (Gregory p. 123). • 8. Vibrio Natriegen s Generation Time Title: Vibrio natriegens s generation time and optimal growth environment using a Closed Growth System. Abstract: The objective of this experiment is to find out what the optimal growth environment is for V. natriegens out of three different environments. The first is a Brain Heart Infusion broth (BHI) that contains 50 mM of NaCl. The second is BHI containing 250 mM of NaCl. The third is BHI containing 1000 mM NaCl. In order to obtain this, a growth curve graph must be constructed for each different environment, and the generation time of the bacteria in each environment must be calculated. The optimal environment for V. natriegens was found to be the BHI with 250 mM of NaCl. Introduction: The type environment that bacteria live ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is the y value posted in the upper right hand corner. The following data was obtained from the Closed System Growth experiment: As shown in the figure above, it is evident that V.natriegens grew faster when the Brain Heart Infusion (BHI) broth contained 250mM NaCl. The # of bacterial cells at each time point was measured following the equation given in the How to generate a bacterial growth curve supplemental material posted on D2L. (2) The data was then recorded in the table listed above. A growth curve graph was constructed using the data above which illustrated the differences between each of the different BHI mixtures. The graph was then used to determine the generation time of V.natriegens for each different environmental condition. In order to calculate the generation time (g) the mean growth rate (k) must be calculated. The formula to do this is posted in the supplemental material How to generate a bacterial growth curve on D2L. The k value calculated for each condition goes as follows: At 50 mM NaCl k= 2.2 generations per hour At 250 mM NaCl k= 4.7 generations per hour At 1000 mM NaCl k= 3.2 generations per hour The generation time for each condition goes as follows: At 50 mM NaCl g= .45 hours per generation At 250 mM NaCl g= .21 hours per generation At 1000 mM NaCl g= .31 hours per generation With all of these calculations the environment that is optimal for V. natriegens was determined. ... In this series there are many trials which are looked as revolutionary and important part of history. But even though some trials may be big, they don t make it into the trial of the century just because their concept and ideology isn t a very controversial and doesn t make you choose one side or the other. The Scopes Trial, also known as the Monkey Trial, didn t have much do with the case itself but what it actually stands for. But when we go along and think that everyone would be better their way then this causes mass troubles for the people who opposes that view (like the agnostics in Dayton or Mr Darrow s dad) and I feel that one should not do that and be open minded to all ideas and if one disagrees then one should look away but not take that right from someone else, after all, that is what this nation stands ... Geology more specifically, the fossil record is one such discipline that elicits profound insight on speciation. The fossil record is best described as life s evolutionary story as it clearly shows sequential change in organisms throughout time by providing a starting point and in many cases transitional fossils as benchmarks for comparison. Sedimentary rock is crucial to this process as it is what cements organisms in time at their time of death. Sedimentary rock is common on Earth and formed by the weathering of older rocks. Fossils allow scientists to expound on the evolutionary history of an organism by providing features to follow throughout time. Scientists have pieced together the evolution of flight in birds and the structures needed to accomplish this task by documenting changes that took place in the forelimbs, clavicle, and pelvis from current birds back to their pre winged ancestors. Additionally, the evolution of paired appendages and subsequent loss in some vertebrates has been well documented in the fossil record and specifically the stickleback. After the recession of the glaciers, populations of stickleback were scattered in isolated lakes throughout the northern hemisphere. Fish in lakes with no predation lost their pelvic spines since there was no evolutionary advantage to maintain them. By analyzing the fossils of stickleback scientists were able to see this change occurred over the span of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Epidemic Of Obesity And Obesity There s an appalling epidemic in today s society sweeping across not only the United States, but all across the globe. This horrible epidemic isn t the bird flu, or any type of sickness, rather obesity. Today, obesity rates are at an all time high in America. This disease, obesity, is being passed down the family both genetically, and by the terrible eating habits developing in the US. Kids growing up in this generation are facing frightening issues such as increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc., the list goes on. Zinczenko proves this in his text Don t Blame the Eater, when he says, Before 1994, diabetes in children was generally caused by a genetic disorder Only about 5 percent of childhood causes were obesity related, or Type 2, diabetes. Today, according to the National Institute of Health, Type 2 diabetes accounts for at least 30 percent of all new childhood cases of diabetes in this country. (Zinczenko 463) The sad part about it, is these kids more time than not, are born into these types of situations. There s no surprise that obesity rates in America are directly correlated with the increasing amount of fast food chains popping up on every street corner. These fast food restaurants are masters of the art of advertising, and are using it as the strongest way of increasing sales. This is very dangerous because not all advertisements are true, despite what the common American might think, and it can be used to sway people s thoughts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Watergate crisis is the most infamous scandal that occurred within those years, and arguably, in American political history. The event occurred in 1972 and it redefined American political culture. Nixon s involvement in the incident (and other controversies leading up to Watergate) led to a loss of faith in government and a transition to the public s reliance on the media. Soon following the first arrest, two more men were arrested with direct links to break in at the democratic national convention. The break in was initially labelled as a third rate burglary by the White House Press, and the 1972 election passed seamlessly, results uninfluenced by the event. In fact, Nixon was re elected with the largest popular vote landslide in history. However, as the trial of the Watergate burglary progressed, it soon became evident that the event originated within the White House. One of the men, James McCord was a retired CIA agent, and another, E. Howard Hunt, was a former CIA operative and consultant to the Nixon White House. Another man identified as G. • 14. The Consequences Of Domestic Violence Abstract: Domestic violence is something that is overlooked in many aspects. While reading my paper you will learn about different types of domestic violence. How every type is different than the other. Each type hurts not only the victim, but everybody in the abuser and the victim s lives. Children are usually the witnesses in these situations and tend to be caught in the middle. You will learn how this affects them now and how it affects them later in life. There are also many reasons that someone turns to domestic violence, and all of those topics will be discussed. Finally, you will learn about the treatments available and all the ways to get help. After reading this paper I hope that you will be a little more informed on the consequences of domestic violence. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of [some form of] physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime (Statistics). Domestic violence is one of the things that I think we as people don t take as serious as other things. Reading that statistic was painfully chilling, and the scariest part is how much of it goes unnoticed. My favorite part of the statistic was the part where it tells you how many men have been a victim of this kind of violence, because factually that is something that is always overlooked. Domestic violence isn t something that should be taken lightly and it definitely shouldn t be something that is brushed off your shoulders if it happens to you and/or if it s happened ... We might try to summarize some scientific observations. We might try to summarize our experiences. We might try to summarize this book. Many of our statements are summaries. It would be nice if we could interpret our observations and experiences by pure objective summarizing. It s very difficult though. Our worldviews get in the way. Anytime we summarize, we leave out information that we consider minor. We only include information that we consider the most important information. That makes it very easy to distort reality into something that looks real but isn t real. There are several problems with summaries. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When we add unreal elements from our worldviews, we think those unreal elements are real. Worldviews give that illusion. During analysis, we often unconsciously filter some elements out if those elements aren t part of our worldviews. In addition, we don t have a way of knowing that we have identified all the elements unless God reveals such a thing to us. The worldview is a deceitful filter. For this reason, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide us in the process. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to correct us when we get it wrong. Interpretation can t add information. It s not a source of new knowledge. It can give us a better understanding of the information that exists. Without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the human mind is deceitful and will automatically distort the interpretation. • 25. Different Models And Theories Associated With Adult Learning There is several different models and theories associated with adult learning. Through my research it seems that andragogy is the first thing educators think of when adult learning process is mentioned. Malcolm Knowles says, Andragogy is the art and science of helping others learn (Merriam, Caffarella, Baumgartner, 2007). Andragogy are learning strategies focused on adults. It is often interpreted as the process of engaging adult learners with the structure of the learning experience (Clardy, 2005). Andragogy is an assumption that there are different characteristics and requirements when it comes to learning between adults and children. Therefore, the learning procedures used in teaching adults must be altered from the pedagogical procedures related to teaching children. Andragogy is based on five assumptions concerning the adult learner (ASTD, 2007). First is the assumption that as a person matures, their self concept moves from a dependent personality towards more of a self directing personality. (Merriam et al., 2007). At this point the learner is considered self directed. The second assumption is that an adult accumulates a growing reservoir of experience, which is a rich resource for learning (Merriam et al., 2007). Basically, adults can utilize their experiences to influence themselves and others. Third, the readiness for an adult to learn is in close relation to the developmental tasks of the adult s social role. (Clardy, 2005). This readiness to learn is a direct ... Although this quote may be over fifty years old, its meaning still stands; our country should be made of many different cultures and ethnicities that come together to make one United States. However, this cannot be accomplished if our nation does not allow for different cultures to learn about their own country and hold on to their heritage as well as gaining knowledge on the history of the United States. Thus, Mexican American studies should not be banned in Arizona because contrary to the belief that learning about other cultural struggles is anti American, actually focusing on the racial identities within the United States is an important step towards becoming a multicultural nation. The United States of America is a nation based on the idea of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness, the people from this country have an obligation to make sure that every American can experience these given rights. Most that do so successfully focus on showing what needs to be changed. Once people respond emotionally to the lesson, their emotional reactions propel them into action. They see, then feel, then change. To help them make the leap, you must: ✓ Help people see the need for change with compelling, eye catching dramatic situations to visualize problems and solutions. ✓ Let people feel as they are hit with the reality of their situation and feel the need to act. ✓ Let ... These measures involve the analysis of the data by means of statistical tools, techniques that normally used by the researcher when the data is of numerical form. To analyze the data in terms of quantitative measures, data is transformed into numeric form first, and then different tools like mean, median, mode, regression, correlations and sampling are implicated by the researcher. In the quantitative research different software are also used (Wetcher Hendricks, 2014). This software includes MS applications like Excel and other third party SPSS software for the application of the different tests like T Test, U test ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Purpose of Theatre during the 20th Century The Purpose of Theatre during the 20th Century Throughout centuries, theatre has been an enormous impact throughout society. During the 18th century, theatre had played a significant role to society because it emphasized Rationalism (The Age of Reason), which began to lead away from the limitations of Neoclassicism. Then in the 19th century, theatre was important because it introduced Melodrama or music drama to increasingly emphasize the emotions and personalities of the characters. And finally the 20th century, in which where it had transformed the whole ideology of what theatre was truly represented. One purpose of theatre during the 20th century was to emphasize realism. Realism had initially begun as an experiment to make theatre more impactful to society. It was a reaction against the 19th century s ideology of theatre, melodrama. It had soon become a well known innovation in mainstream theatre. Due to its common ideology, it had also caused adventurous innovations to aspire as well. The reason for emphasizing realism was for realistic artists to create an illusion of everyday life onstage. A similar movement to realism that changed the ideology of theatre was naturalism; a movement that had originally began in France in the 19th century and spread throughout Europe in the 20th century. Naturalists rebut that the presentation should be represented as a slice of life . Many of the naturalists believed that the most appropriate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Loan For A New Loan Due to the recession, many households became financially burdened. As the economy suffered many people faced job loss or at the very least a decrease in income, therefore, leading to many foreclosures. Because of the impact a foreclosure has on one s credit score, these individuals are not able to qualify for a new loan on another house. Fortunately there are other options in buying a house besides qualifying for a loan such as owner finance and rent to own. Owner finance allows those who cannot qualify for a loan the ability to have the owner of the property finance them. This option replaces the bank with the owner of the property. It allows one to have the ability of owning a home who has a lower credit score or is still going through bankruptcy. The owner who is financing the home can be more flexible than a bank in the conditions of the loan such as a down payment, interest rates, and mortgage payments. The owner can allow someone to pay the down payment in instalments instead of all at once which is ideal for those who can qualify for a loan but do not enough money saved. Most banks require at least a three percent down payment which is thousands of dollars and the more expensive a house is the more money the down payment is. However, the owner can agree to instalments once a week or once a month which gives the purchaser of the home the ability to purchase the home without saving years in advance. Also, the owner may have a lower interest rate on the loan than the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. How Technology Has Broadened The Spectrum Of Applications 4. EMERGING DEVICES The continuous scaling of CMOS technology has broadened the spectrum of applications. Complex architectures can be now realized on a single chip. The integration of existing and new technologies with CMOS extends the scope of implementation. Figure 3 : Relationship among More Moore, More than Moore, and Beyond CMOS 4.1 More than Moore The functional diversification of the semiconductor based devices by non digital components is More than Moore implementation. These non digital functionalities may not scale at the same rate as the digital components. The non digital components are capable of interacting with outside world through sensors and actuators. This integration of functions like analog and mixed signal processing, addition of passive, power components and bio chips increases the range of applications such as communications, automotive, biomedical and security. As integration grows so does the challenges, it demands the need for multidisciplinary research programs to run in pace with growing scientific fields. 4.2 More Moore The expansion of the CMOS by conventional dimensional scaling to reduce the cost per function and improved performance is More Moore. This also comes with resource scarcity such as power availability and reduced flexibility in interconnects. Power dissipation becomes a critical problem in such devices due to large logic circuits. Since the battery capacity has not improved much but the amount of logic in SoC almost doubles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
