Black Wall Street Research Paper
Black Wall Street was one of the most prominent displays of African American economical
accomplishment and standing of the modern world in spite of the fact that American culture as a
whole wasn t, and still isn t, supportive or conducive to the rise of minorities. The unprovoked
hostility isn t new, but it is dangerous because it accommodates the behavior that is responsible for
systematic discrimination and is the reason why were are permanently relegated to second class
and seemingly destined to fail. The fact that this injustice is rationalized, accepted and ignored is
the precise reason that African Americanownership and community sustainability is vital in
correcting the misrepresentation of us to the rest of the the world and continuing... Show more

I know that society today conditions young minorities, not just African Americans, into believing
that their life can and will only be a certain way, which they have no control over. If anything, I
find that to be the most destructive tool of oppression and ultimately the reason that there are not
more young Black entrepreneurs, but I maintain that it can be helped. There are a lot of young
Black people who see the fact that there even has to be a Black Wall Street in the first place, as
demeaning and conveying separatism. I would rather that young students especially, are able to
see that it can also be interpreted as: I will not maintain that my color created my reality, but I
can still create a reality that embraces my color instead of using it as justification to internalize
the self deprecating mentality it takes to measure up to a society controlled by those who try to
demean me. I want to give others a confidence that is often too rare, so that equality doesn t always

Evaluation Of Mentoring New Teachers

Oftentimes, new teachers are provided with little to no professional guidance, and because of that,
nearly fifty percent of teachers leave the classroom within the first five years. This turnover rate
not only has an impact on kids, since they lose the person they were connected with, but it also
costs the nation roughly 7.4 billion dollars a year. This video, which focuses on the Hillsborough
County Public School System, in Tampa, Florida, brings to light the importance of mentor teachers
for first and second year teachers. Through the gathering of evidence and classroom observations,
these mentor teachers provide the passion for new teachers and help to unlock their potential. Since
the implementation of the mentor program their retention of new teachers has gone from 72% to
94%.

First year teachers many times face some of the toughest assignments in the nation s toughest

Music s Influence On Music
Music has changed the way people have looked at others, have acted, and how they see the
world today. The beginning of music started when someone discovered that banning on
something made a sound. Music became a hideout for people when they needed a place to send
their mind. Musicians are the biggest part of the music and making it the way it is. Certain
musicians changed the way people started to look at music in the 60s. The 60s were a time for
standing up for what the country believed it, a time to show the overpowered people that they
weren t afraid. People looked to musicians such as; Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, and
many others for their influential music. Different types of artists with different sounds changed...

Similarities And Differences Between The Schools Of...
Buddhism is a missionary religion that begins in ancient India and spreads to eastern and south
eastern regions of Asia. After the death of Siddhartha Gautama, since the teachings were done and
passed around orally, there was no official record of the Buddha s teaching. Hence, this led to
collisions of principles and resulted in various divisions of Buddhism. However, there are two
dominant divisions of Buddhism that still exist until today: Theravadaand Mahayana. While
Theravada strand, which is also known as the southern school of Buddhism, expands toward the
south eastern region of Asia such as Sri Lanka, Thailand, Laos... The Mahayana strand, which is
also known as the northern school of Buddhism, spreads across the eastern region of Asia such as
China, Vietnam, Japan... Thus, in this essay, I focus and discuss the similarities and differences
between the schools of Theravada and Mahayana.
Despite being two different schools of Buddhism, both Theravada and Mahayana strands were once
a single entity. Therefore, they do have some overlapping principles, which are the core values of
Buddhism. First of all, both strands uphold the Triratna, which is also regarded as the three jewels
or refuges of Buddhism : buddha, dharma and sangha. Buddha refers to the fully enlightened one.
Dharma refers to the teachings of the Buddha. Sangha is the monastic order of Buddhism.
Secondly, Buddhists from both schools listen and uphold the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path,

Hypothesis:
If a burger, fries and Sprite are blended together and tested for monosaccharides, starches, proteins
and lipids, then it will test positive for all four nutrients because the buns contain carbohydrates or
monosaccharides, fries are made of potatoes which contain a lot of starch, the meat in the burger
will contain protein and there are a lot of fats or lipids in the oil used to fry the fries.
If chutney is tested for monosaccharides, starches, proteins and lipids, then it will test positive for
all four nutrients because sugar is added to make chutney, the vegetables contain starch and protein,
and the plants have vegetable oil or lipids in them.
Procedure:
Testing for Monosaccharides:
In a clean test tube, put 1 mL of glucose solution.
Then add 5 drops of Benedict s solution.
Use a test tube holder to put the test tube into a container of boiling water for 5 minutes, or until the
solution changes color.
In data table 1, record the color and the results from the glucose test. Save the test tube to use as a

Visual Media: Is Seeing Really Believing?
Visual media is often used to express an idea or thought because it can do so in a more succinct
manner than an essay or article. Through a drawing, painting, or photograph, the artist can convey
his message in the few moments it takes to look at the artwork or read the caption. Despite this
seemingly simple medium, a visual media image still uses the three persuasive strategies, Logos,
Ethos, and Pathos, just as a written work does, and often there is the application of one or more
fallacies.
Breaking Home Ties, a painting by Norman Rockwell, depicts a father and son, one with a
dreadfully sullen expression, and one with a keen look of anticipation, as they wait for the train
that will take the son away to college for the first time. The father can be seen slumped over,
clutching two hats, his weather beaten farm hat and his son s dapper fedora, in his work
roughened hands. The son, in a suit, matching tie and socks, and gleaming shoes, sits erect with a
look of delight on his face as he waits for the new destination in his life, State U, as proclaimed by
the pennant on his suitcase. The family dog seems to express the melancholy emotion that the father
seems loathe to, by resting her head in the son s lap. It is as if she knows she is absorbing the last
moments together with her master.
According to Totallyhistory.com, Rockwell s art form was a style of its own and perhaps best
described as portraits of Americana, and

The Government Should Support Wind Energy
Many researchers argue that the government should support wind energy. The Union of Concerned
Scientists (UCS) argues that wind energy reduces pollution. A 2009 UCS analysis found that they
could reduce pollution by lowering power plant carbon dioxide emissions. A 25 percent national
renewable electricity standard would lower power plant carbon dioxide emissions 277 million
metric tons annually by 2025 (para. 4). A study by the United States Department of Energy s
(DOE) National Renewable EnergyLaboratory explored reducing pollution by generating 80
percent of the country s electricity production could be reduced by approximately 81 percent by
2050. Wind powercan reduce pollution generated by fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas. A
typical 750 kW wind turbineprovides enough power for 328 typical (non electric heating) homes.
Electricity production accounts for more than one third of U.S. global warming emissions, with
the majority generated by coal fired power plants, which produce approximately 25 percent of
total U.S. global warming emissions; natural gas fired power plants produce 6 percent of total
emissions. In contrast, global warming emissions associated with renewable energy are minimal,
according to data gathered by the International Panel on Climate Change. Wind emits only 0.02 to
0.04 pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent per kilowatt hour (CO2E/kWh). This is compared with
natural gas, which emits between 0.6 and 2 pounds of CO2E/kWh, and coal, which emits

If opportunity doesn t knock, build a door. I learned this saying and followed it on December 4th
when I decided to invest in some stock shares. I want to go to college and so far I haven t gotten
any letters or offers from any colleges. So I figured that I would have to find a way to earn around
$100,000 over the course of the next 4 years. In order to make it easier on myself I decided that I
should make around $25,000 a year. My original strategy was to watch what companies are
performing well or seem like they will be successful. When I first entered the stock market, it was
the holiday season, so I invested in a lot of retail and manufacturers. Temperatures were dropping

The lowest Dow Jones dipped lower than 16,000. My strategy worked pretty well in the
beginning, I then decided to diversify my portfolio, which kept me in a rut and I wasn t able to
gain or lose any money. I learned that the stock market is very tough, it takes a lot of work to be
successful. You have to research and dig deep for companies that are successful and unknown. I
consulted with my mom, who is a stockbroker and she said that Eagle Pharmaceuticals has been
performing very well. I bought a couple shares and it earned me a lot of money. We have the
news on constantly in my house, I started to pay more attention to what companies are coming
out with new products, the weather, new studies by pharmaceutical companies. The superbowl
was also a great way for me to find a company that had a funny commercial or a sale going on. I
also learned that diversification is not helpful, it doesn t lose money, but it doesn t give you any
money either. If I didn t diversificate I probably would ve advanced and earned more money.
Entering the stock market was a great learning experience and I am happy that it was just a
simulation because in the real world I would be very stressed out if I went a net worth from

My Leadership Philosophy
With regards to leadership, my strength lies in my desire to help everyone. A leader has to put
the group first and make every decision with that principle in mind. When freshman approach
me in the hallway, eyes wide with terror and uncertainty, I stop and ask them what they need. If
the track team needs and extra runner for a race, even if I despise that race, I ll step up. My
philosophy is to lead by example, not by command. I ve found that simply telling people what to
do is the most ineffective way to actually get them to do it. For example, I am very passionate
about track and want the track team to do extremely well at state this year. Instead of giving a
rousing speech about courage and strength, I started training months in advance. By making
myself better, I encourage others to be better too. I m not the best on the team by a longshot, but
by working hard I inspire others to be better than me. My goal by the end of track season is not
to be the best on the team, but for the rest of the team to be better because of me. By doing that
extra lap I hope to inspire others to do the same.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking that final step and trusting that your decision is correct scares me. What if everyone
suffers because I m wrong? To overcome this, the only thing I can do is to take the leap. I will
fail, and I have failed many times already, but I ve also made the correct choices. By practicing
failure, I m mastering success. Another weakness of mine is the notion that my idea is always a
good one. This sometimes leads me to believe that, in a group project or something of the sort,
we should always use my idea. In a recent group project I took complete control without even
realizing it. When I did realize it, I told the group that I was sorry and stepped down in order to let
everyone s ideas flow too. Instantly the project became

Willy Loman Tragic Hero Essay
. HOOK Sophocles defines a tragic hero as a man who fall from a place of high esteem to fate
that is not deserved due to a tragic flaw. These can all be associated with tragedy but the heroic
aspect of these characters is often forgotten.
A: Thesis Willy Loman better fits Miller s definition of a tragic hero, then Joe Keller.
II. Extended Opinion #1 Willy Loman s attempts for his life shows readers a glimpse into the the
remorse, and internal depression Willy experiences invocating Sympathy among viewers more than
Joe Keller.
A. While some may argue that it is more tragic that Joe Keller killed himself expectedly, b the
prolonged suffering Willy felt is far worse, then a man releveling that he killed twenty one pilots.
B. The street is lined with cars. There s not a breath of fresh air in the neighborhood. The grass

a. Willy is explaining his neighborhood to his wife, and remising of the good old days when

Tim Burton Influences
Tim Burton the creator of a plethora of childhood films is in numerous of ways, so to say one of
the best directors. The style of Tim Burton is very different to the regular fairy tales that people
are used to. Often times the setting is dark and around someone different. One attribute that sets
Tim Burton away from other directors is his influences from when he was a kid. Tim Burton uses
many thoughts that some may call junk. However, he uses these tools to create a whole new
image that he interpreted in a whole new way. Many of Tim Burton s works were often influenced

more desired effect that intrigues people. These effects can be seen in all films, however, better in
some than others. We see excellent use of editing from Tim Burton in graphics and video quality
to produce things look better and flow easier. Some examples of this, come in the movies of
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory(2005) and Edward Scissorhands(1990). For example, we see
that in Charlie and the Chocolate factory(2005) the editing plays a big role in what we think of
the characters and our viewpoints of the characters simply by the editing and graphical imagery.
Augustus Gloop, a fat boy with tiny eyes of German descent, to make the character Tim Burton
used editing to create a child who was fat and animated to make an appearance that didn t hurt
the casters feeling of being fat and unfit. Another example is in Edward Scissorhands(1990) we
see the look of the town in a plastic and unrealistic and cheap way. The way that it looked showed
how artificial and unlifelike the town really was. These examples show how animating and editing
can greatly change how we see the image of a character or

Paranormal Sentimental Fiction In Horace Walpole s The...
This section will investigate the history and advancement behind paranormal sentimental fiction.
Paranormal sentimental fiction had its beginnings in the eighteenth century. An early noticeable
novel in this class was The Castle of Otranto composed by Horace Walpole. Walpole began an
artistic development somewhere down in riddle that increased quick drama and various imitators.
He is by and by for the most part associated with Strawberry Hill, the home he worked in
Twickenham, South West London where he resuscitated the Gothic type a few decades before his
Victorian successors, and for his Gothic novel, The Castle of Otranto.
The novel distributed in 1764 is regularly thought as the primary gothic novel, beginning an artistic
kind which would turn out to be exceptionally mainstream in the later eighteenth century and mid
nineteenth century. In this manner, Walpole, by augmentation, is apparently the antecedent to such
creators as Charles Maturin, Ann Radcliffe, Bram Stoker, Edgar Allan Poe and Daphne du Maurier.
In the introduction of the second release, Walpole makes a heuristic for perusing the novel which
without a doubt changes the way perusers are to see the novel until its end. He claims to blend the
new and old types of sentiment. The old sentiment is what is presently considered pre novel
exposition a principle component of such writing is their incredible style. There is enchantment, the
otherworldly is bottomless and they are absolutely mind boggling. The type of the new sentiment is
the thing that the books of the eighteenth century, when Walpole was composing, would ordinarily
have resembled. These books were reasonable; they were made to portray occasions and
individuals as they truly were.
Walpole at that point, by attempting to blend these two classes, makes something new something
genuinely novel . He makes fabulous situations like protective caps tumbling from the sky,
strolling pictures, and so on and puts as far as anyone knows genuine individuals into these
situations and lets them to act in a genuine way. In doing as such, he viably enables fiction to
develop in ways that it would some way or another have not possessed the capacity to. Walpole
presents many set pieces that

Betrayal In Kelly Link s The Summer People
Betrayal Have you ever been betrayed by someone that you trusted? The Summer People , a
fairy tale short story written by the author Kelly Link, portrayed the characters in a way that be
can be greatly related. Throughout the story, she used several literary elements, such as
symbols, allusions, and dictions to help the readers to understand the moral of the story. The
main character, Fran, was bonded with the faith to be the caretaker of the summer people, and
there is no possible way that she can escape from them. Despite the kindness of her friend,
Ophelia, Fran decided to use her to gain freedom from the summer people. Ophelia has always
been truthful to Fran, even though Fran bullies her during the beginning of the story. At the end,
Ophelia was betrayed by Fran and forced to take over her responsibilities of the summer people.
In an e mail interview conducted by Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts with Kelly Link by the
editor, Brian Attebery, explained the style of her writing. Link stated, The primary goals of fiction
whether it s fantasy or realism or whatever are to entertain, to raise or answer question, to unsettle
or to comfort, to communicate. The tool set changes. The goal varies too, and that s independent of

Stanley Chernyshevsky s Eyes-Wide Shut
Chernyshevsky states that the first purpose of art is to reproduce nature and life, and this
applies to all works of art without exception (364). Eyes Wide Shut is a movie that was directed by
Stanley Kubrick in 1999. Additionally, it was his last film. He created a film version of Dream
Story, which is a fictional (Schnitzler). The lead roles are played by Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidmanand
Sydney Pollack. The time is set up at Christmas in New York. Stanley Kubrick directs a number of
successful and serious films. There is no doubt that Eyes Wide Shutis one of them. (Kubrick).
Kubrick uses visual aesthetics to express his point of view indirectly. Christmas products is used
to create a holiday atmosphere, which is full of consumption. In addition, mask and costume hide
the identity and individuality of people. Finally, the money that Bill, who is male main character
and acted by Tom Cruise spent, shows he is a customer. These three things convey the theme of
consuming in Eyes Wild Shut. People are shopping to prepare for Christmas; therefore, Christmas
products are related to buying and consuming. In the movie, Christmas products are almost
everywhere especially the Christmas tree. The colorful trees contrast sharply with the main tones
of the movie, which are blue and red. Kubrick keeps reminding audiences that it is Christmas. At

Research Paper On Poliomyelitis
The word poliomyelitis is derived from two Greek words, polio meaning grey and myelon
meaning marrow which indicates the spinal cord. The classic manifestation of paralysis is the
effect of polio virus on the spine (Paul, 1971). Ancient records mention crippling diseases
compatible with poliomyelitis. A weakness of the lower limbs in children that was identifiable
as poliomyelitis was first described by Michael Underwood in 1789. The first outbreaks were
reported in the early 19th century and in 1843 in Europe and the United States respectively. For
the next century, polio epidemics were reported from developed countries in the Northern
Hemisphere each summer and fall. As years passed, the severity of the epidemics and the
average age of persons affected increased (Birmingham et al.,1997). This led to an increase in the
number of deaths as a resulting from polio. Polio cases hit a peak in the USA in 1952, where
more than 21,000 paralytic cases were reported (Paul, 1971). However, polio incidence declined

Examples Of Revenge In Hamlet

AP Literature and Composition

Hamlet s Stagnant Revenge
A bloody deed almost as bad, good mother/ As kill a king and marry with his brother , a statement
so bold you would assume it was from a bold man, but the reality couldn t be further from that
assumption. In the play Hamlet, the former king s son Hamlet attempts to take revenge upon the
new king, Claudius. As the readers, though we see how Hamlet is indirect in his action and delays
his revenge multiple times. Hamlet is a man of inaction. Hamlet waits to kill his Uncle, Claudius,
because he is uncertain of the truth, he is afraid of the afterlife, and he is working to exact the
perfect revenge.
Hamlet always wants more information before he takes revenge. Hints of his true motivation first
appear when the ghost appears and Hamlet says, Haste me to know t, that I, with wings as swift/ As
meditation or the thoughts of love,/ May sweep to my revenge. (I.v.29 31). Hearing of the murder,
his first reaction is to gather more information about the identity of the murderer. After his meeting
with the ghost, he starts to question the authenticity of the ghosts information. Thus begins his
quest to confirm the truth by acting as if he is insane. His activity leads to the invitation of an
acting troupe to improve. Hamlet takes advantage of their presence, convincing them to reenact a
play similar to his father s murder. During the play, Hamlet notes how the King and Queen

The Protagonists In Borderline
How are the protagonists different at the end of the novel from the beginning? In Borderline,
Sami Sabiri is very cowardly and spineless in the beginning; he allows his bullies to walk all over
him and he does not have the courage to speak up for himself: Your cowardice speaks to your
character, Sabiri. (105) He is constantly running away from his problems, even though he knows it
will not solve anything: Life can be tough, Sami. But hiding only makes things worse. In the end,
no matter how hard you try, you can t hide from yourself. Trust me. (101) He miserably makes his
way through each day, and he can even be seen as clueless when it comes to his goals. When things
turn sour and his dad gets arrested, he finally begins taking initiative.

My Favorite Day Of My Life
August 21, 2017 was the best Monday of my entire life. This Monday was the beginning of my
college life at UNCC. Interestingly enough, on that day, a solar eclipse was also occurring. So,
not only was my Convocation day nerve wracking, it was also exciting, and overall an extremely
eventful day. Had my college classes also begun on that day it would have been a bit too much.
Thankfully, my classes began the very next day after that... yay!? August 22nd was a day that I
expected the worst out of and received a pleasant outcome instead. On that day, I took my first
official college class, Survey of American History to 1865 with Dr. Carol Higham. I was
inexplicably worried that everything would go wrong but it went by swimmingly. For starters,...

Actually, no, Thursdays are usually boring. Well, anyways, the highlight of that day was
studying. I went to the Student Union early in the morning around 7 AM, because my first class
for the day began at 11 AM so I had plenty of time to kill. I decided to look over the notes I had
written for both of my history books. For one I had a long, somewhat exaggerated amount of
notes (does that remind you of something? By any chance?) and for the other, my notes weren t
even a page long. I realized that in spite of the fact, that I enjoyed reading both of the books, one
of them was simply more difficult to comprehend. I think making observations like that are
beneficial because they allow me to know what I struggle with and may need to make more time
for and what I can understand without too much difficulty. I was glad when I found out that my
first essay for my history class was based on the book that was easier for me to comprehend.
However, I was not equally glad to find out that it was due the next Thursday. Furthermore, I am
still anxious about that upcoming essay. What do college professors expect? Will my writing
meet their standards ? What if I fail? What if I fail and can t improve my grade? What if I mess
up my citations and receive a 0? Well, I suppose that s where the writing resource center comes
in... I am already excited to get lost on the way there. Yes, that was sarcasm, but I actually was
excited for something else, Friday! I have high expectations

Internment Camps In The Broken Road
The Navajo and Hopi tribes have long lived in an area by the region known as the four corners.
Uranium, oil, gas, and coal all very valuable resources can be found under the grounds where
these tribes have lived. When the white men realized this, they passed a law forcing the relocation
of the Indians. In the film, Broken Road, Florio and Mudd (1985) the narrator stated, The
government spent 500 million dollars to partition the land between the Navajo and Hopi tribes.
8,000 Indians were herded from fort Defiance to Fort Sumner, across the New Mexico border.
During this trip, many would die and the ones who survived found themselves in an internment
camp . This lasted until the tax payers realized they were paying over one million a year to keep
these camps going (Florio and Mudd, 1985). After they realized this, the Indians were released.
These people were released with only two sheep and little compensation (Florio and Mudd, 1985).
This horrific treatment of individuals was brutal and unforgivable. This relates very heavily to
another group of disempowered people, when the Nazis invaded and took all the Jews to
concentration camps. These Nazi camps were based off the Indians internment camps where they
were killed or held hostage in terrible, unlivable environments with little food and forced to do
work. In this Broken Road directed by Florio and Mudd(1985), the narrator Martin Sheenan had
mentioned, The Nazi s studied these Indian internment camps and used them as

Punk Rock Is A Subclass Of Rock And Roll
me to kick back and relax. A heavy and loud rock song for example, would not fall under my chill
playlist. A heavy rock song would be more suitable for the rock playlist that I have. Songs have
different characteristics, while also evoking different feelings within the those who listen. This
fact hints at the concept of subclasses and super classes. For example, the genre rock and roll
could be the super class of punk rock, because Rock and Roll is a fairly broad category of music
and punk rock is a more specific type or flavor of rock; thus showing how punk rock is a subclass
of Rock and Roll. Punk Rock is a category within a category of music. Rock and Roll
demonstrates how a genre can evolve from being relatively specific to generally broad as time
progresses and new music is introduced over the years. With the superclass of Rock and Roll at
the top of the hierarchy, under it could be other subclasses like hard rock, blues rock, pop rock,
psychedelic rock, Christian rock, Latin Rock, southern rock, etc. I would not consider my
grouping of music to be mutually exclusive. For instance, I may have one song that is on
multiple playlists. The song Summer, by the artist Calvin Harris, is on both my party playlist and
my Electronic Dance Music playlist. This particular song qualifies and meets the guidelines for
both these playlists that I made. The type of song that I was looking to add in each playlist was

Essay On Demand Of Fruits And Vegetables
Demand of Fruits and their prices
Aim and Objective of this study:
As the Indian population is increasing, the demand for fresh fruits and vegetables is also
increasing. Owing to the perishable nature and very short shelf life, these items require storage and
transportation facilities in order to reach to the customer in fresh state. This requires a considerable
amount of effort from the involved parties. The entire chain is fraught with issues like lack of
transparency in pricing (at the farmers end), dominance of traders, weak links in supply chain, etc.
This leads to loss of revenue to the farmer and increased additional costs to the other supply chain
partners, which ultimately enforces the final consumer to bear extra burden on his ... Show more

Compare And Contrast Midsummer Night s Dream Movie And Play
Michael Hoffman s 1999 film version of Shakespeare s midsummer night s dream was able to
modify the audience experience of the play. Michael Hoffman had successfully turned the play
into a film and was able to show a visible expression of the characters to the audience. He had also
made some changes, like the settings and made his version modernized. Though the film was
based on the Shakespeare s play, the audience s experience is still different. The differences are
the following: First, in the play, you can see the emotions, feelings and expressions of the
characters in the film. Since Shakespeare s play is written between 1590 and 1597, the English
language used was deep and hard to understand for the present people. But with the character s

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Lightships
Lightships are manned seamarks anchored at a specific point of a river, generally a shallow one.
Fixed into place by a mushroom shaped anchor, these small ships (rarely above 50 tons) would
initially use large lanterns affixed atop the main mast. Their main advantage is that they could be
placed in areas where it was impossible for lighthouses to act as efficient seamarks. Their main
disadvantage, especially the early ones, is that turbulent waters could slightly shift the anchor and
thus the ship s positioning (Talbot 1913, pp. 241 42). In the worst case scenario, the chains could
snap, leaving the ship in a dire position. However, introduced in the early 19th century were
numerous lighting inventions (Clarke 2016, pp. 14, 42) as well as mooring technologies using iron,
which could anchor a vessel 12 to 14 times the tonnage of the largest lightship (Clarke 2016, pp. 50
56), made them increasingly reliable over time. Ubiquitous to seafarers, their offshore position
meant that lightships were out of eyesight of the majority of the population, which explains why
they went largely unnoticed, even by most economists and historians including Coase, who studied
lighting services. Yet, lightships featured prominently in the frequently cited 1834 Report from the
Select Committee on Lighthouses. In fact, of the 55 lights in England, 13 were provided by
floating lights (House of Commons 1834, p. VI). As such, lightships were an important contributor
to lighting services. What

Introduction Microeconomics is analysis of individual firm or market and their price mechanism.
iMacs and their price mechanism would be analyzed in this paper. Supply and demand determine
the price of iMacs. There are many important factors that must be taken into consideration when a
decision is made about producing the iMac. Some of the factors are: demand and supply, price
mechanism, the analysis of production costs, the importance of market structure, trade and the
competitiveness in the global economy. Abstract My individual microeconomic analysis paper

When prices are higher the demand decreases and the supply increases and vice versa. The
market is in equilibrium when supply and demand curves intersect. If the quantity of iMacs
demanded and quantity supplied are equal the market is in equilibrium. The price where the
supply and demand curves intersect is the equilibrium price or market clearing price. If the
market price of iMac is above the equilibrium price, quantity supplied is greater than quantity
demanded, creating a surplus. The price will decrease. Example: if Apple have a lot of iMac
inventory that cannot sell we need to decrease the price, the iMac quantity demanded will increase
until equilibrium is reached. When the market priced is below the equilibrium price, quantity
supplied is lees then quantity demanded, we have a shortage. Market price will increase because
of this shortage. Example: iMac is always out of stock, raising the price of iMac the iMac s
quantity demanded will drop until equilibrium is reached. Apple is a fierce competitor in several
industries, ranging from personal computers to entertainment media to mobile payment systems.

Cultural History Of Tattoos
The cultural performance and ritual of tattooing evolved over time, but holds historical
significance for membership into a group of people, age bracket, or culture. Polynesians used
tattoos as a coming of age ceremony, and symbol of adulthood. Boys would be put away for weeks
at a time to transition from boyhood and to heal from the harsh procedure. As the practice moved
aboard ships, men tattooed one another shoddily, creating connection and camaraderie between one
another. As movement across seas spread tattooing, port cities began to sprout parlors as artistic
sailors settled down with this new line of work; this became the only form of Polynesian art widely
accepted and practiced in the West. P.T. Barnum accentuated the novelty of tattoos and employed
these visually interesting people to performer. Sanitation practices were never consistent until the

poke style tattoos. Prominent circus performers such as Captain Consentenus, The Greek Albanian
Tattooed Man and Nora Hildebrandt, The Tattooed Women were covered in tattoos, maintaining
oddity and division from common peoples. When Sam O Reilly created the tattoo machine, colors,
intricate and dynamic designs, and prominent sailor imagery became abundant. Sailors tattooed
themselves on hands and arms in the beginning, but moved the designs to more coverable areas
of the body when tattoos became associated with lower class and delinquency. Pin up girls, naked
ladies, and harsh imagery were common obscene tattoos amongst sailors, and became integral to
the American Traditional style, pioneered by Sailor Jerry. Between World War I and World War II,
sailors received tattoos in China and Japan. The style is apparent through the imagery of dragons,

Women s Fashion During The 19th Century
Introduction
The 18th century, more precisely between 1715 and 1789, was a significant time period in the
fashion sphere for women in France. The time period itself was a mark of great change for the
history of France due to various political reasons as well as various art movements and often
times fashion, despite being a branch of art, is overlooked by most viewers. However, fashion
during this time excelled in France and was essentially the symbol of a new era in this domain;
French fashion was now snowballing into something much greater that still echoes to this today.
Ultimately, the goal of this essay is to describe women s fashion during the period of 1715 1789 and
the shifts it made through the analytical use of various sources including artwork, literature,
museums online archives and internet sources.
Critical Review of Sources
One of the main sources used in this essay was a general historical overview from the end of the
15th century up until the French revolution. The source is subdivided into essays and gave detailed
descriptions apropos to France s political, economical, and social circumstances during the time
period of 1715 1789. Apropos to artwork, VigГ©e Le Brun s, La reine en gaulle , was looked at in
order to have a better understanding as to what the chemise Г la reine was like and since this
painting was done during the time period by the artist, it seemed appropriate to incorporate this
painting as source to the essay. With regards to museums

The Great Terror Robert Conquest Summary
With Robert Conquest s first edition of The Great Terror published in 1968, critics acclaimed
that his work was a spotlight on the atrocities wrought by the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. Since
then, with new sources and statistics coming forward, there have been two reassessments
published by Conquest. Regardless of edition, the author attempts to provide the reader a
gripping account of Stalin s mass purges where millions were murdered and millions more were
sent to Soviet prisons in brutal, inhumane conditions. Furthermore, to give the reader a well
rounded view of this period Conquest writes about more than just the gulags. He shares his
research on the Moscow Trials, the vicious methods for obtaining false confessions, life in the
labor camps, and much more. These topics all provide for a bleak picture of life in the former
Soviet Unionduring the reign of the dictator Stalin.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As with any other use of first hand accounts, the reader is presented with a more potent form of
storytelling that is easily diluted when the author describes the action for the audience in their own
words. For example, Conquest quotes Polish politician Zbigniew Stypulkowski to describe the
appalling conditions in the Soviet prisons where with cold and hunger and almost no sleep, a man
becomes like an automaton his eyes are bright, his legs swollen, his hands trembling. In this state he
is often convinced he is guilty (pg. 125). By using such striking quotes, Conquest accomplishes two
things. First, using eyewitness accounts better retains the reader s attention by placing them
directly in the action with those who lived it. Second, these testimonies give more credibility to the
author s work by showing that the author s interpretations and the real life events support each

Becker Freyseng was part of many experiments in Nazi concentration camps. He conducted
research on how high altitudes would affect humans. He used low pressure chambers to observe
how much pressure people could handle. He did experiments to see how cold temperatures
would affect the human body. They did this to test how they could rewarm people with
hypothermia. He even forced people to drink saltwater in hopes he could find ways to make
saltwater a valuable resource for German soldiers. He killed many people and discovered very
little. Joseph Mengele was another German who conducted many experiments on jews. His
largest interest was in genetics. His focus was to try and create the perfect race as quickly as
possible. He tried all sorts of crazy things such as injecting dye into patients eyes in order to
make them blue. In 1943 he became the leader of the women section in Auschwitz. He got to

military benefits because he simply went to one of her rally s in her piece on militarism. Her
points on militarism are valid and the fact that America has one of the largest incarcerated
populations and biggest military budgets are a symptom of a capitalist system that lack reforms
but, I feel that these points are more about a call for transparency and reform rather than the
dismantling of the government. Goldman s views on marriage do hold some water to a certain
degree but are not as prevalent because of the rise of social media and dwindling job prospects for
my generation that has had a hand in the lack of traditional

Criticism of Reality Television
The days of traditional television shows, movies and plays are slowly coming to an end. Many
people have replaced scripted shows with favorite actors with reality television. Reality television
has introduced viewers to a cast of regular people they can relate to, and some of whom they are
fond of or mimic in their day to day life basis. Reality television has however been on the receiving
end of endless criticism. Critics maintain that it has overwhelmingly turned young girls into divas
and young men into bodybuilders . Despite this rapid transition in media that has led many to an
inclination toprefer reality television rather than the traditional television shows, movies and
plays, which was the case many years back, critics feel that the social, moral fabric is eroding at
an extremely high rate . Certainly, this criticism aid in shaping reality television as we shall see in
this study .
While network officials and all the brains behind any reality television broadcast that benefit
tremendously from the high ratings of reality television are filled with praise, the industry continues
to face overwhelming criticism (Rose). The strongest of them being talented movie or tv show
actors and scriptwriters who feel that popularity has shifted from talent based shows to reality
television. Many of these actors indeed feel that the many years they have dedicated to the

The Effect Of Abundance Of Nutrients On Plant Morphology...
All plants rely on nutrients to help them repair damaged cells and grow, each nutrient with its own
benefit. For example, selenium increases plant resilience within harsh climates. Plant morphology
and growth is especially important for crops that are in high demand such as winter wheat grain
which has one of the highest worldwide production rates. The effect of the abundance of nutrients
on plantmorphology is further investigated in this study. This study entails winter wheatseeds being
placed in treatments of different concentrations of nutrients and observed and measured after two
weeks have passed. By keeping the environment constant, the effect of each treatment was measured
exclusively. The plants in the treatment without nutrients were noticeable shorter than those in the
treatments which contained nutrients. The results found suggest that the concentration of nutrients
is not as important so long as nutrients are included in the treatment.
Nutrients are an essential resource needed for plants to grow and replenish. They can be divided
into two main subgroups macronutrients and micronutrients. Most nutrients are absorbed through
the root hairs and can be used to repair tissues as well as run important processes such as
photosynthesis (Rush et al. 2016). For example, the nutrient Selenium is known to increase the
resilience of plants in harsh environments. In an experiment completed to see the effects of
selenium on wheat growth, it was noted that the Selenium

Ban on the Usage of Cell Phone while Driving
Cell phone ban while driving Many states in America according to their research have found out
that use of cell phones in cars have contributed to several accidents as well as traffic violations
and are now legislating rules and regulations on cell phone usage so as to create safer driving
environment in the states hence reducing the number of accidents each and every day caused
by use of cell phones while driving. Jennifer Clark (2012 ) indicates that teenage drivers were
banned from any cell phone use while driving in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut,
Delaware, D.C., Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey,
North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. Specific
ages vary by state. Michigan bans cell phones for teens with probationary licenses in cases where
the cell phone has resulted in an accident or traffic violation. The use of mobile phones in cars is
one of several sources of driver distraction which contribute to road crashes and injuries to those
both inside and outside the vehicle. According to research reported by Tom and Ray Magliozzi
(n.d), Drivers are four times as likely to crash when talking on a phone ењ°nd three times as likely
when talking on a hands free phone. This is occasioned by physical distractions when the driver
has to use one or both hands to dial a number, answer or end a call, writing down telephone
numbers, instead of concentrating on the physical

Analysis Of Hebron Israel By Miriam Levinger
In the 18th century, where Israel will be is occupied by Palestinians. Over time, Jews enter this
land as well, fleeing Germany after WWII. The UN grants Jews a nation state called Israel in
1948, but this just causes a Civil War to break out between Jews and Palestinians. After this war
Jews occupy a lot of the land. In 1967 the Six Days War occurs, and Jews occupy West Bank and
Gaza. They only occupy land with the military because by law they are not allowed to have their
own people in the country to hopefully prevent annexation. After some time, Jews choose to
ignore this law and they live among Palestinians. They use military force to keep it from the
Palestinians overthrowing them, and they also do not allow Palestinians citizenship. Jews believe
they have the right to this land because they are ancestors of Abraham, who owned this land and
is buried here. This claim is made by Miriam Levinger as well and is based on an interpretation of
Genesis 23.
Miriam Levinger s interpretation of the bible was driven by the literal text and the idea that this text
speaks to the present while mine was driven by the narrator s voice and influence on the plot and
characters. Miriam is a Jew who is living in Hebron, she claims that she has the right to live there:
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are my forefathers ( Hebron Israel, Miriam Levinger Hebron 1981 ).
Here, Miriam is interpreting saying that according to Genesis 23, since she is a descendant of
Abraham, she has a right to this

Taking a Look at Ghazan s Reforms and Time in Power
When Ghazan came into power, the Ilkhanid kindom was in rough shape. The kingdom he inherits
was in economical decline due to factors such as mismanagement and excessive taxes. Mostly in
response to the economic decline, as well as some out of sincere benevolence, Ghazan enacted a
series of wide ranging reforms: increased construction projects; abolition of extraordinary taxes;
improvement of gold and silvercurrency; establishment of single system of weights and measures
tat was based on the tabriz system; purging parasitic thieves and bandits; creation of a separate
royal troop; revise prenuptial agreement to a more modest amount; installation of baths and
mosques in every village; young woman s right to not be sold to brothels without their consent;
and punishment for public intoxication. The paper will explore Jami al tawarikh, the main primary
source, in which the author, Rashid al Din, Ghazan s vizier, who helped draft these reforms with
Ghazan Khan, gives a detailed account on the economy before Ghazan, his reforms and their
implementation 1 The paper will examine the aforementioned reforms by organizing it into
subheadings, and will explore, to the best of its ability, the overall effect from these reforms
according to the vizier and author, Rashid al Din.
Increased Construction Projects Rashid notes that despite Ghazan s predecessors inclination toward
building, they were ultimately neglected to two key reasons. Although the buildings were started,

The Act allows the children to access public benefits and employment authorization. Additionally,
the provision guarantees the chidden the right to obtain permanent residency. The other option for

Comparing The Novel Lord Of The Flies And Heart Of...
Topic: Comparing behavior of two main characters from two different books
Introduction
There are both similarities and differences between the protagonists of the Novels Lord of the
Flies (Golding) and Heart of Darkness (Conrad). In each case we have the supposedly civilized
individual(s) degenerating into savagery. As well, other characters are involved and highly
influenced by the protagonist(s). This report discusses these two books and what can be observed
from comparing works of essentially different world perspectives one was published in 1902 and
the other in 1954 and wholly different environments and situations. Just as a simple example, there
were no airplanes in the time of Conrad s protagonist, vs. an airplane crash setting up the whole
scenario for Golding s characters. This report analyses the character Kurtz from Heart of Darkness
by Joseph Conrad, comparing him to Jack, a character in William Golding s famed novel Lord of
the Flies . Celebrated contemporary novelist, William Golding (1911 1993), the 1983 Nobel
Laureate for Literature, is the author of Lord of the Flies (Li and Wu). The book, published in
1954, was a critically successful work up until the 70 s. Ever since its publication, this novel has
been a best seller, studied in universities and schools almost everywhere in the world. The book
portrays the transformation of a group of English school boys into savagery, after an airplane crash
strands them on an island without any

The Oliver Versus Brock Case
A civil suit is commonly derived from a private party or individual, who alleges damages from
duty of care. Once a civil case begins, it is the duty of the plaintiff to prove, with evidence, duty of
care, breach of duty, causation, and damages. Conversely, the defendant must prove their
affirmative defense against documented allegations. The Oliver versus Brock case proves the
importance of supporting evidenceas opposed to hearsay statements, to prove the truth of the matter.

Based on the information provided, Oliver s allegations were not supported with documentation,
but merely opinion and hearsay. In Oliver s affidavit, she stated that she read in the discharge
summary that Dr. Brock was consulted and assisted with treatment. Although the supporting
documentation of the previous statement is important, the more pressing issue becomes whether a
doctor patient relationship was formed in order to support the allegations.
Contrary to the alleged, Dr. Brock refuted the claim, defending that he never established a doctor
patient relationship with Anita, which relieves him of liability. In order to validate his refute,
Dr. Brock provided four factual elements that were supported by his counterparts; Dr. Whitfield
and Dr. Ketcham. The four elements that were presented in the affidavit included: (1) That there
has never been a doctor patient relationship between Dr. Brock and Anita Oliver, (2) Dr. Brock
has never seen or talked to Anita or Cathy Oliver, (3) Dr. Brock was not employed, engaged or

Integration Between Peasant And Elite Populations
Over the years, the ever evolving gastronomic identity that resulted from the fluid integration
between peasant and elite populations helped shape an equally evolving Italian cultural identity.
This glutinous parallel can be seen in the unique identities in the various regions ranging from the
South to the North of Italy. Although many national stereotypes exist today from the macaroni
eaters, to the red sauce that accompanies pasta, these can be explained by the exchange and the
influence that globalization has on culture. Acting as a basis to Italian identity are the practices
passed down through generations orally, the knowledge that is indispensable to their heritage in
which each recipe holds a variant to another. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, patrons are responsible to protect the culture and traditions of their region.
Being relatively inexperienced in the culinary world, I effectively set aside a days worth of time
to prepare my meal. Pouring over lists of ingredients, various recipes, and meticulously organized
equipment, I began my culinary journey with an Italian mindset. Beginning bright and early at
the Root Cellar I browsed through the vibrant local produce, indulged in the scent of fresh herbs,
and stood in awe at the monstrous wheel of parmigiano reggiano. Rather than opting for
packaged herbs, I took this opportunity to cross off my goal of creating an herb garden on my list
of to dos. Continuing on my journey, I visited the Market on Yates, which is full of unusual items
that can be easily overlooked amongst rows of generic names. This neighborhood market acts as a
fresh grocer much like the farmer s markets that are not accessible to those living in the heart of
downtown Victoria.
Food is an essential component to the creation of an Italian identity, as it offers not only sustenance,
but also provides narratives that reflect community and conflicts, tradition and innovation. When
searching for an appropriate recipe, reaching out to family and friends for a recipe they swear by, a
family secret, which seemed consistent with Italian culture. The passing down of recipes and

Myth Of Abusive Relationships
Toxic people have ways of pulling others willingly into unhealthy relationships without raising any
obvious red flags. They know how to make the other person feel that every mishap is their fault
while steering the blame away from themselves. Many people believe that those who are caught up
in an abusive relationship allow themselves to be the other s doormat, but the truth is that it
happens regardless of how confident or smart the abuser s partner is.
There is a certain level of myth regarding what society views as a healthy or unhealthy relationship.
While the latter is seen through rose colored lenses, the former conjures images of violent drunks
who beat their partners. Unfortunately, it is not always so obvious. Very often, abusive
relationships have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have an uncanny ability to pinpoint weaknesses and use them in such away to build to the
other person up rather than make him or her a better person. In doing so, they become the hero in
the relationship.
Differing Standards
Sometimes partners create an unspoken agreement that one person always does what the other
person wants and the other can do whatever they want. Interestingly, the second individual is not
held to the same level of accountability. An example is when a man can be out at all hours of the
night and balks at being questioned, yet the woman cannot do the same without facing an
interrogation. This is an unhealthy foundation on which to build the relationship.
Neediness
There is a difference between a person wanting to be around their partner and being overly needy
and clingy. When they start throwing around threats of what they will do if the other person ever
leaves, that is a form of emotional control attempting to hold the partner hostage. It may feel like
love, but no one is ever responsible for somebody else s emotional stability.

The San Jose March For Science. For My Civic Engagement
The San Jose March for Science For my civic engagement assignment, I attended the San Jose
March for Science from San Jose city hall to the Plaza de Caesar Chavez. The March was in
organized primarily in response to the Trump administration s unfavorable views on science,
especially towards environmental science, and was held in conjunction with hundreds of other
marches attended by hundreds of thousands of people across the world. I ve never been the most
civically minded person so I was not quite sure what to expect when attending, but I think that I
gained a more personal understanding of the political and democratic aspect of environmental
citizenship. I arrived at the march slightly after it was underway, a few blocks away from San...

In layman s terms, Environmental citizenship is the idea that humans are part of the environment
and that as a result we should work to help the environment through day to day and political
actions. A parallel could be drawn to the idea of the Social Contract, where people give up
certain privileges and take on certain duties in order to be effectively governed as a part of a
greater society (Gough 2 3). Environmental citizens give up certain privileges such as littering or
using fossil fuels and take on duties like recycling or voting for environmentally friendly laws or
politicians in order to better the environment as a whole. Environmental Citizenship can be further
broken down into two rough categories: personal daily citizenship and large scale political
citizenship. Daily environmental citizenship refers to people following environmentally just laws
and performing environmentally conscious actions in daily lives, such as recycling, eating food
from environmentally friendly sources such as homegrown gardens, using eco friendly
transportation such electric cars or public transportation, and other similar activities. Political
environmental citizenship is when people participate in large scale political processes such as
voting, political demonstrations (such as the March that I attended) or protests and even running
for political office. Of course,

Christian Music Vs. Secular Music
While gazing at a statue of Isaac Watt in Westminster Abbey, the great English poet Victor
Longfellow once quipped, He only did better what no man has ever done well! Professor Edward
B. Reed voiced a similar opinion, In this great mass of poetry (hymnody) there is little that shows
artistic excellence.
Both men were correct. In terms of artistic merit, Christian hymnody pales greatly in quality in
comparison to secular music. The reason for such a disparity is simple: the world s best composers,
musicians, and songwriters do not work for the church; they work in the secular music industry.
How then, do the local churches, especially smaller parishes, achieve excellence regarding music in
liturgy? In a word, they do not because they cannot. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, in order for the masses to accept it, contemporary forms of music must sound
contemporary to the modern ear. To achieve a high degree of authenticity, modern church music
must be played on modern instrumentation by musicians who possess specific experience and
particular knowledge and the appropriate training. The modern mission constituency is too
sophisticated to tolerate and accept watered down renditions of rock, country, folk, or blues music
played on pipe organs by classically trained pipe organists who noticeably misunderstand and
disrespect the subtleties inherent in 21st Century music. At best, they merely retool modern genres
to suit and satisfy classical palates.
J. S. Bach s B Minor Mass with its great chorale fugues, elaborately ornamented arias, and
orchestral accompaniment, may very well be the greatest chorale work ever composed; however,
liturgical music is ill conceived as a great art form. Accessibility is paramount and, at its finest,
liturgical music remains natural, unpretentious, and

Creating and Managing Effective Teams
Creating and Managing Effective Teams Managing a team of people can be tricky, but it can be
even harder when those people come from different areas in the workplace. Not knowing a
fellow team member can put a strain on the ability to work together, but with the proper training,
and management skills, any team can accomplish the goals set for them. For this exercise I was
asked to select a team of people to search for innovative ideas that would put the automaker on

The next problem I had to address was when the team felt that Amrita was trying to force her
ideas onto everyone else. Before being appointed to the team, she had been designing her own
ideas for a line of automobiles, now at every meeting she is trying to push those ideas onto the
other team members, instead of seeking out innovating ideas, like they were tasked to do in the
beginning. The team has used a few of her ideas, but they know for the team to succeed, they
will have to probe deep into the auto making industry to find the best ideas possible. I would
address the issue as a team, let her know that we appreciate her ideas, and that she will get
recognition for those ideas we use, but let her know that we still need move forward with the
program. Giving Amrita the recognition she is seeking as a reward would make her feel as if she
did help the team, while also giving her exposure in the design field. Once the group was back on
track, the next roadblock to hit the team was groupthink. They had started to rule out ideas that
might have been just a little risky, but could have put them on the leading edge of the industry.
Trying to inspire them to start thinking as individuals again, and get their creativity flowing again I
decided to use a Devil s advocate session. I told the team that they should take away questions and
concerns from this meeting, but that it is not an attack on the team, it is just a way to get them
thinking

  • 2. Black Wall Street Research Paper Black Wall Street was one of the most prominent displays of African American economical accomplishment and standing of the modern world in spite of the fact that American culture as a whole wasn t, and still isn t, supportive or conducive to the rise of minorities. The unprovoked hostility isn t new, but it is dangerous because it accommodates the behavior that is responsible for systematic discrimination and is the reason why were are permanently relegated to second class and seemingly destined to fail. The fact that this injustice is rationalized, accepted and ignored is the precise reason that African Americanownership and community sustainability is vital in correcting the misrepresentation of us to the rest of the the world and continuing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I know that society today conditions young minorities, not just African Americans, into believing that their life can and will only be a certain way, which they have no control over. If anything, I find that to be the most destructive tool of oppression and ultimately the reason that there are not more young Black entrepreneurs, but I maintain that it can be helped. There are a lot of young Black people who see the fact that there even has to be a Black Wall Street in the first place, as demeaning and conveying separatism. I would rather that young students especially, are able to see that it can also be interpreted as: I will not maintain that my color created my reality, but I can still create a reality that embraces my color instead of using it as justification to internalize the self deprecating mentality it takes to measure up to a society controlled by those who try to demean me. • 3. Evaluation Of Mentoring New Teachers [Teach Movie]. (May 12, 2014). Mentoring New Teachers. [Video File]. Retrieved from https:/ /www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVoyzliq7Ro Oftentimes, new teachers are provided with little to no professional guidance, and because of that, nearly fifty percent of teachers leave the classroom within the first five years. This turnover rate not only has an impact on kids, since they lose the person they were connected with, but it also costs the nation roughly 7.4 billion dollars a year. This video, which focuses on the Hillsborough County Public School System, in Tampa, Florida, brings to light the importance of mentor teachers for first and second year teachers. Through the gathering of evidence and classroom observations, these mentor teachers provide the passion for new teachers and help to unlock their potential. Since the implementation of the mentor program their retention of new teachers has gone from 72% to 94%. [PBS Newshour]. (July 4, 2013). Mentorship for New Educators Helps Combat Teacher Burnout. • 4. Music s Influence On Music Music has changed the way people have looked at others, have acted, and how they see the world today. The beginning of music started when someone discovered that banning on something made a sound. Music became a hideout for people when they needed a place to send their mind. Musicians are the biggest part of the music and making it the way it is. Certain musicians changed the way people started to look at music in the 60s. The 60s were a time for standing up for what the country believed it, a time to show the overpowered people that they weren t afraid. People looked to musicians such as; Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, and many others for their influential music. Different types of artists with different sounds changed... • 5. Similarities And Differences Between The Schools Of... Buddhism is a missionary religion that begins in ancient India and spreads to eastern and south eastern regions of Asia. After the death of Siddhartha Gautama, since the teachings were done and passed around orally, there was no official record of the Buddha s teaching. Hence, this led to collisions of principles and resulted in various divisions of Buddhism. However, there are two dominant divisions of Buddhism that still exist until today: Theravadaand Mahayana. While Theravada strand, which is also known as the southern school of Buddhism, expands toward the south eastern region of Asia such as Sri Lanka, Thailand, Laos... The Mahayana strand, which is also known as the northern school of Buddhism, spreads across the eastern region of Asia such as China, Vietnam, Japan... Thus, in this essay, I focus and discuss the similarities and differences between the schools of Theravada and Mahayana. Despite being two different schools of Buddhism, both Theravada and Mahayana strands were once a single entity. Therefore, they do have some overlapping principles, which are the core values of Buddhism. First of all, both strands uphold the Triratna, which is also regarded as the three jewels or refuges of Buddhism : buddha, dharma and sangha. Buddha refers to the fully enlightened one. Dharma refers to the teachings of the Buddha. Sangha is the monastic order of Buddhism. Secondly, Buddhists from both schools listen and uphold the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path, the Three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Ap Bio Lab Report Michelle Lui Period 7 AP Bio Lab Partner: Ashwin Sannecy Hypothesis: If a burger, fries and Sprite are blended together and tested for monosaccharides, starches, proteins and lipids, then it will test positive for all four nutrients because the buns contain carbohydrates or monosaccharides, fries are made of potatoes which contain a lot of starch, the meat in the burger will contain protein and there are a lot of fats or lipids in the oil used to fry the fries. If chutney is tested for monosaccharides, starches, proteins and lipids, then it will test positive for all four nutrients because sugar is added to make chutney, the vegetables contain starch and protein, and the plants have vegetable oil or lipids in them. Procedure: Testing for Monosaccharides: In a clean test tube, put 1 mL of glucose solution. Then add 5 drops of Benedict s solution. Use a test tube holder to put the test tube into a container of boiling water for 5 minutes, or until the solution changes color. In data table 1, record the color and the results from the glucose test. Save the test tube to use as a comparison. In another test tube, put 1 mL of hamburger meal slurry. • 7. Visual Media Logo Visual Media: Is Seeing Really Believing? Visual media is often used to express an idea or thought because it can do so in a more succinct manner than an essay or article. Through a drawing, painting, or photograph, the artist can convey his message in the few moments it takes to look at the artwork or read the caption. Despite this seemingly simple medium, a visual media image still uses the three persuasive strategies, Logos, Ethos, and Pathos, just as a written work does, and often there is the application of one or more fallacies. Breaking Home Ties, a painting by Norman Rockwell, depicts a father and son, one with a dreadfully sullen expression, and one with a keen look of anticipation, as they wait for the train that will take the son away to college for the first time. The father can be seen slumped over, clutching two hats, his weather beaten farm hat and his son s dapper fedora, in his work roughened hands. The son, in a suit, matching tie and socks, and gleaming shoes, sits erect with a look of delight on his face as he waits for the new destination in his life, State U, as proclaimed by the pennant on his suitcase. The family dog seems to express the melancholy emotion that the father seems loathe to, by resting her head in the son s lap. It is as if she knows she is absorbing the last moments together with her master. According to Totallyhistory.com, Rockwell s art form was a style of its own and perhaps best described as portraits of Americana, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Powerful Tools For Caregivers Case Study In 2008, while doing consulting work for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Pat Billings and Ruth Hamlin came upon a program developed by Stanford University called Powerful Tools for Caregivers. The program intrigued both Pat and Ruth as both have been fulltime family caregivers and both have worked in the care giving field as professionals most of their adult life. Little did they know that the program they presented to the Executive Services Corps, NE Board of Directors would have an impact on over 1,500 caregivers in eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa. • 9. The Government Should Support Wind Energy Many researchers argue that the government should support wind energy. The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) argues that wind energy reduces pollution. A 2009 UCS analysis found that they could reduce pollution by lowering power plant carbon dioxide emissions. A 25 percent national renewable electricity standard would lower power plant carbon dioxide emissions 277 million metric tons annually by 2025 (para. 4). A study by the United States Department of Energy s (DOE) National Renewable EnergyLaboratory explored reducing pollution by generating 80 percent of the country s electricity production could be reduced by approximately 81 percent by 2050. Wind powercan reduce pollution generated by fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas. A typical 750 kW wind turbineprovides enough power for 328 typical (non electric heating) homes. Electricity production accounts for more than one third of U.S. global warming emissions, with the majority generated by coal fired power plants, which produce approximately 25 percent of total U.S. global warming emissions; natural gas fired power plants produce 6 percent of total emissions. In contrast, global warming emissions associated with renewable energy are minimal, according to data gathered by the International Panel on Climate Change. Wind emits only 0.02 to 0.04 pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent per kilowatt hour (CO2E/kWh). This is compared with natural gas, which emits between 0.6 and 2 pounds of CO2E/kWh, and coal, which emits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 2014 a partnership between San Diego City Heights residents, Peace Promotion Momentum, and stakeholders within the juvenile justice system in San Diego selected the National Conflict Resolution Center and San Diego Youth Services to pilot the Restorative Community Conference (RCC) as an alternative to the juvenile justice system for youth offenders. I consulted with my mom, who is a stockbroker and she said that Eagle Pharmaceuticals has been performing very well. I bought a couple shares and it earned me a lot of money. We have the news on constantly in my house, I started to pay more attention to what companies are coming out with new products, the weather, new studies by pharmaceutical companies. The superbowl was also a great way for me to find a company that had a funny commercial or a sale going on. I also learned that diversification is not helpful, it doesn t lose money, but it doesn t give you any money either. If I didn t diversificate I probably would ve advanced and earned more money. Entering the stock market was a great learning experience and I am happy that it was just a simulation because in the real world I would be very stressed out if I went a net worth from $100,000 to ... When freshman approach me in the hallway, eyes wide with terror and uncertainty, I stop and ask them what they need. If the track team needs and extra runner for a race, even if I despise that race, I ll step up. My philosophy is to lead by example, not by command. I ve found that simply telling people what to do is the most ineffective way to actually get them to do it. For example, I am very passionate about track and want the track team to do extremely well at state this year. Instead of giving a rousing speech about courage and strength, I started training months in advance. By making myself better, I encourage others to be better too. I m not the best on the team by a longshot, but by working hard I inspire others to be better than me. My goal by the end of track season is not to be the best on the team, but for the rest of the team to be better because of me. By doing that extra lap I hope to inspire others to do the same.... To overcome this, the only thing I can do is to take the leap. I will fail, and I have failed many times already, but I ve also made the correct choices. By practicing failure, I m mastering success. Another weakness of mine is the notion that my idea is always a good one. This sometimes leads me to believe that, in a group project or something of the sort, we should always use my idea. In a recent group project I took complete control without even realizing it. When I did realize it, I told the group that I was sorry and stepped down in order to let everyone s ideas flow too. Audie Murphys Legend The first sentence of Audie Murphy s biography reads, Audie Leon Murphy was a legend in his own time ( Sergeant Audie Murphy Award, 2015), a seemingly fitting introduction for one of the bravest combat soldiers in our nation s history. The style of Tim Burton is very different to the regular fairy tales that people are used to. Often times the setting is dark and around someone different. One attribute that sets Tim Burton away from other directors is his influences from when he was a kid. Tim Burton uses many thoughts that some may call junk. However, he uses these tools to create a whole new image that he interpreted in a whole new way. Many of Tim Burton s works were often influenced by Dr. Seuss, Edgar Allen Poe, and Vincent Price. These effects can be seen in all films, however, better in some than others. We see excellent use of editing from Tim Burton in graphics and video quality to produce things look better and flow easier. Some examples of this, come in the movies of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory(2005) and Edward Scissorhands(1990). For example, we see that in Charlie and the Chocolate factory(2005) the editing plays a big role in what we think of the characters and our viewpoints of the characters simply by the editing and graphical imagery. Augustus Gloop, a fat boy with tiny eyes of German descent, to make the character Tim Burton used editing to create a child who was fat and animated to make an appearance that didn t hurt the casters feeling of being fat and unfit. Another example is in Edward Scissorhands(1990) we see the look of the town in a plastic and unrealistic and cheap way. • 17. Paranormal Sentimental Fiction In Horace Walpole s The... This section will investigate the history and advancement behind paranormal sentimental fiction. Paranormal sentimental fiction had its beginnings in the eighteenth century. An early noticeable novel in this class was The Castle of Otranto composed by Horace Walpole. Walpole began an artistic development somewhere down in riddle that increased quick drama and various imitators. He is by and by for the most part associated with Strawberry Hill, the home he worked in Twickenham, South West London where he resuscitated the Gothic type a few decades before his Victorian successors, and for his Gothic novel, The Castle of Otranto. The novel distributed in 1764 is regularly thought as the primary gothic novel, beginning an artistic kind which would turn out to be exceptionally mainstream in the later eighteenth century and mid nineteenth century. In this manner, Walpole, by augmentation, is apparently the antecedent to such creators as Charles Maturin, Ann Radcliffe, Bram Stoker, Edgar Allan Poe and Daphne du Maurier. In the introduction of the second release, Walpole makes a heuristic for perusing the novel which without a doubt changes the way perusers are to see the novel until its end. He claims to blend the new and old types of sentiment. The old sentiment is what is presently considered pre novel exposition a principle component of such writing is their incredible style. There is enchantment, the otherworldly is bottomless and they are absolutely mind boggling. The type of the new sentiment is the thing that the books of the eighteenth century, when Walpole was composing, would ordinarily have resembled. These books were reasonable; they were made to portray occasions and individuals as they truly were. Walpole at that point, by attempting to blend these two classes, makes something new something genuinely novel . He makes fabulous situations like protective caps tumbling from the sky, strolling pictures, and so on and puts as far as anyone knows genuine individuals into these situations and lets them to act in a genuine way. In doing as such, he viably enables fiction to develop in ways that it would some way or another have not possessed the capacity to. Walpole presents many set pieces that ... The classic manifestation of paralysis is the effect of polio virus on the spine (Paul, 1971). Ancient records mention crippling diseases compatible with poliomyelitis. A weakness of the lower limbs in children that was identifiable as poliomyelitis was first described by Michael Underwood in 1789. The first outbreaks were reported in the early 19th century and in 1843 in Europe and the United States respectively. For the next century, polio epidemics were reported from developed countries in the Northern Hemisphere each summer and fall. As years passed, the severity of the epidemics and the average age of persons affected increased (Birmingham et al.,1997). This led to an increase in the number of deaths as a resulting from polio. By any chance?) and for the other, my notes weren t even a page long. I realized that in spite of the fact, that I enjoyed reading both of the books, one of them was simply more difficult to comprehend. I think making observations like that are beneficial because they allow me to know what I struggle with and may need to make more time for and what I can understand without too much difficulty. These people were released with only two sheep and little compensation (Florio and Mudd, 1985). This horrific treatment of individuals was brutal and unforgivable. A heavy rock song would be more suitable for the rock playlist that I have. Songs have different characteristics, while also evoking different feelings within the those who listen. This fact hints at the concept of subclasses and super classes. For example, the genre rock and roll could be the super class of punk rock, because Rock and Roll is a fairly broad category of music and punk rock is a more specific type or flavor of rock; thus showing how punk rock is a subclass of Rock and Roll. Punk Rock is a category within a category of music. • 30. Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Lightships Lightships are manned seamarks anchored at a specific point of a river, generally a shallow one. Fixed into place by a mushroom shaped anchor, these small ships (rarely above 50 tons) would initially use large lanterns affixed atop the main mast. Their main advantage is that they could be placed in areas where it was impossible for lighthouses to act as efficient seamarks. Their main disadvantage, especially the early ones, is that turbulent waters could slightly shift the anchor and thus the ship s positioning (Talbot 1913, pp. 241 42). In the worst case scenario, the chains could snap, leaving the ship in a dire position. However, introduced in the early 19th century were numerous lighting inventions (Clarke 2016, pp. 14, 42) as well as mooring technologies using iron, which could anchor a vessel 12 to 14 times the tonnage of the largest lightship (Clarke 2016, pp. 50 56), made them increasingly reliable over time. Ubiquitous to seafarers, their offshore position meant that lightships were out of eyesight of the majority of the population, which explains why they went largely unnoticed, even by most economists and historians including Coase, who studied lighting services. Yet, lightships featured prominently in the frequently cited 1834 Report from the Select Committee on Lighthouses. In fact, of the 55 lights in England, 13 were provided by floating lights (House of Commons 1834, p. VI). As such, lightships were an important contributor to lighting services. What ... Micro Economic Analysis Paper Microeconomic analysis of iMac Veronica Ionescu Southern New Hampshire University Introduction Microeconomics is analysis of individual firm or market and their price mechanism. iMacs and their price mechanism would be analyzed in this paper. Supply and demand determine the price of iMacs. There are many important factors that must be taken into consideration when a decision is made about producing the iMac. Some of the factors are: demand and supply, price mechanism, the analysis of production costs, the importance of market structure, trade and the competitiveness in the global economy. When prices are higher the demand decreases and the supply increases and vice versa. The market is in equilibrium when supply and demand curves intersect. If the quantity of iMacs demanded and quantity supplied are equal the market is in equilibrium. The price where the supply and demand curves intersect is the equilibrium price or market clearing price. If the market price of iMac is above the equilibrium price, quantity supplied is greater than quantity demanded, creating a surplus. The price will decrease. Example: if Apple have a lot of iMac inventory that cannot sell we need to decrease the price, the iMac quantity demanded will increase until equilibrium is reached. When the market priced is below the equilibrium price, quantity supplied is lees then quantity demanded, we have a shortage. Market price will increase because of this shortage. Example: iMac is always out of stock, raising the price of iMac the iMac s quantity demanded will drop until equilibrium is reached. Polynesians used tattoos as a coming of age ceremony, and symbol of adulthood. Boys would be put away for weeks at a time to transition from boyhood and to heal from the harsh procedure. As the practice moved aboard ships, men tattooed one another shoddily, creating connection and camaraderie between one another. As movement across seas spread tattooing, port cities began to sprout parlors as artistic sailors settled down with this new line of work; this became the only form of Polynesian art widely accepted and practiced in the West. P.T. Barnum accentuated the novelty of tattoos and employed these visually interesting people to performer. Sanitation practices were never consistent until the 1960 s when Sailor Jerry aimed to create tattooing into an esteemed and respected art form. Oceanic cultures commonly covered their peoples from head to foot in geometric designs, mostly consisting of black lines. Sailor tattoos began as small, thin, stick and poke style tattoos. Prominent circus performers such as Captain Consentenus, The Greek Albanian Tattooed Man and Nora Hildebrandt, The Tattooed Women were covered in tattoos, maintaining oddity and division from common peoples. When Sam O Reilly created the tattoo machine, colors, intricate and dynamic designs, and prominent sailor imagery became abundant. Sailors tattooed themselves on hands and arms in the beginning, but moved the designs to more coverable areas of the body when tattoos became associated with lower class and delinquency. Pin up girls, naked ladies, and harsh imagery were common obscene tattoos amongst sailors, and became integral to the American Traditional style, pioneered by Sailor Jerry. The time period itself was a mark of great change for the history of France due to various political reasons as well as various art movements and often times fashion, despite being a branch of art, is overlooked by most viewers. However, fashion during this time excelled in France and was essentially the symbol of a new era in this domain; French fashion was now snowballing into something much greater that still echoes to this today. Ultimately, the goal of this essay is to describe women s fashion during the period of 1715 1789 and the shifts it made through the analytical use of various sources including artwork, literature, museums online archives and internet sources. Critical Review of Sources One of the main sources used in this essay was a general historical overview from the end of the 15th century up until the French revolution. Regardless of edition, the author attempts to provide the reader a gripping account of Stalin s mass purges where millions were murdered and millions more were sent to Soviet prisons in brutal, inhumane conditions. Furthermore, to give the reader a well rounded view of this period Conquest writes about more than just the gulags. For example, selenium increases plant resilience within harsh climates. Plant morphology and growth is especially important for crops that are in high demand such as winter wheat grain which has one of the highest worldwide production rates. The effect of the abundance of nutrients on plantmorphology is further investigated in this study. This study entails winter wheatseeds being placed in treatments of different concentrations of nutrients and observed and measured after two weeks have passed. By keeping the environment constant, the effect of each treatment was measured exclusively. The plants in the treatment without nutrients were noticeable shorter than those in the treatments which contained nutrients. The results found suggest that the concentration of nutrients is not as important so long as nutrients are included in the treatment. Nutrients are an essential resource needed for plants to grow and replenish. They can be divided into two main subgroups macronutrients and micronutrients. Most nutrients are absorbed through the root hairs and can be used to repair tissues as well as run important processes such as photosynthesis (Rush et al. 2016). Professor Edward B. Reed voiced a similar opinion, In this great mass of poetry (hymnody) there is little that shows artistic excellence. Both men were correct. In terms of artistic merit, Christian hymnody pales greatly in quality in comparison to secular music. The reason for such a disparity is simple: the world s best composers, musicians, and songwriters do not work for the church; they work in the secular music industry. How then, do the local churches, especially smaller parishes, achieve excellence regarding music in liturgy? In a word, they do not because they cannot. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, in order for the masses to accept it, contemporary forms of music must sound contemporary to the modern ear. To achieve a high degree of authenticity, modern church music must be played on modern instrumentation by musicians who possess specific experience and particular knowledge and the appropriate training. The modern mission constituency is too sophisticated to tolerate and accept watered down renditions of rock, country, folk, or blues music played on pipe organs by classically trained pipe organists who noticeably misunderstand and disrespect the subtleties inherent in 21st Century music. At best, they merely retool modern genres to suit and satisfy classical palates. J. S. The next problem I had to address was when the team felt that Amrita was trying to force her ideas onto everyone else. Before being appointed to the team, she had been designing her own ideas for a line of automobiles, now at every meeting she is trying to push those ideas onto the other team members, instead of seeking out innovating ideas, like they were tasked to do in the beginning. The team has used a few of her ideas, but they know for the team to succeed, they will have to probe deep into the auto making industry to find the best ideas possible. I would address the issue as a team, let her know that we appreciate her ideas, and that she will get recognition for those ideas we use, but let her know that we still need move forward with the program. Giving Amrita the recognition she is seeking as a reward would make her feel as if she did help the team, while also giving her exposure in the design field. Once the group was back on track, the next roadblock to hit the team was groupthink. They had started to rule out ideas that might have been just a little risky, but could have put them on the leading edge of the industry. Trying to inspire them to start thinking as individuals again, and get their creativity flowing again I decided to use a Devil s advocate session. I told the team that they should take away questions and concerns from this meeting, but that it is not an attack on the team, it is just a way to get them thinking ...
