The Importance Of Life As A Seventh Grader
CUSACK AM
CONFERENCE ESSAY
Last year as a sixth grader, I wasn t as irresponsible as I thought I was looking back on it now. I got
most of my homework in on time, I had good grades and I was organised. I had good friends to help
me through the hard parts and I like to think that I helped others as well.
One of the actions that helped me later in seventh grade was when I had study hall last year. It
definitely helped me realize to set aside time for homework. Plus it showed me how to keep
homework and school work in separate, prioritized sections in my life. Last year, with the electives
that I had, I was able to make friends outside of sixth grade and when I went into seventh grade, I had
people who had the same teachers from the year before help me with things I either couldn t
understand or needed advice for. Also, in that part of things, I talked to teachers that I didn t have
earlier, but later in the school year and I got to know some of them. Which definitely helped me as a
seventh grader, by knowing somewhat what to expect if I had them as my teachers.
Life as a seventh grader seems pretty easy compared to an adult s everyday life, but in the moment it
can be pretty challenging. One of the few challenges that I have faced happened when I went to
Ireland for two weeks. I only missed seven total school days and I tried to bring most of my school
work with me, but it still wasn t easy when I had missed lessons and tests when I couldn t learn them
from nearly five

Nation Of Islam Research Paper
Reflection Essay With all the religions in the world, there are many to choose from. In reflecting on
this students beliefs, as well as the beliefs of the Nation of Islam, this student hopes to gain insight
into a community that is part Atlanta s patient population. Often times in caring for many in this

this student s belief and that of the Nation of Islam, the three elements of religion that will be assessed
are sacredness , community , and central myth , (Molloy, 2015).

How Music Industry and Artists Have Been Affected by the Internet 3rd Draft
Technology in this digital age has led to drastic changes in many sectors of life, especially needs to
technology such as Internet as an information and connection resource. In fact, music has continually
evolved at a rapid rate, and the music industry is struggling to keep up the pace. Issues ranging from
illegally downloading and sharing of music, piracy to inevitable disputes over sites offering music
streaming services and the share of royalties for the artist prompt the big question whether the Internet
raises more problems than advantages. The dispute has served as a massive blow ... Show more

It means they can produce music in the comfort of their homes or through cheap freelance studios.
Later, they can that market and sell their music without the help of a label or radio promotion. On the
21st century entrepreneur article, David Bowie said, I do not think a few years to come it would be
significant or necessary to be signed up with a label because things would not be working with labels
and distribution systems in the same manner. There has been complete overhaul of the music industry,
and everything we thought about music will change in ten years time, and nothing will stop it (15).
Also, in an article authored by Guardian News Tony Wadsworth, a former CEO of EMI music, tries to
define the changes in their company s role, compared to 1990 s era, record labels have become
unrecognizable... they have become smaller, productive, and diversified regarding functionality
(p130). Luke Henderson of Fluke productions, which is a recording studio located in London,
recognizes that, compared to some few years ago, it is now much easier for artists to kick start their
careers. As soon their music is uploaded, it is accessible to many people across the world. These are
the clear signs that the internet has placed some power on the artist s hand. Easy sharing and selling
has made the complex celebrity works easy. Musician Amanda Palmer also gave it a twist where she

Three Sociological Theories
There are three types of theories that are used in sociology to view issues. The three theories are
structural functionalism, conflict, and symbolic interactionism.
One of the theories in sociology is structural functionalism, or also known has the consensus theory.
The structural functionalism level of analysis is macro. Structural functionalism is defined as a
theoretical approach that sees society as a structure with interrelated parts designed to meet the
biological and social needs of individuals of those that make up a society. This theory is all about how
everything is related. The focus of structural functionalism is the way each part of society functions
together to contribute to the whole. In addition, this is all about the structure ... Show more content on

Symbolic interactionism focuses on the relationships among individuals within a society. In addition,
this theory focus is one to one interaction and communications. Communications meaning interacting
with language and symbols with others. This theory looks at the culture aspect of the two elements
chart of society. The culture side includes values, beliefs, norms, and symbols. Culture is defined as
groups shared beliefs, practices, and values. It is how someone expresses themselves. Values are a
culture s standards for discerning what is good and just in society. Beliefs are some we believe to be
true. Norms are the visible and invisible rules of conducted through which societies are structured.
There are formal and informal norms. Formal norms are the established, written rules and laws.
Informal norms are casual behaviors that are generally and widely conformed too. Lastly, symbols are
the gestures or objects that have meanings associated with them are recognized by people who share a
culture. Language, signs, and gestures are recognized as symbols. Key terms that are associated with
symbolic interactionism: social action and interaction, socialization (language), verbal and nonverbal,
symbols and gestures, norms and values, social class, status (social position), role, the self and society

The Nature Of People s Beliefs
Philosophy allows people to study the nature of people s beliefs. Throughout history people s beliefs
have differed. At one time people may believe one idea and decades later people may completely
disagree with that idea. Not even the ideas of the law are exempt from this occurrence. Since the
spoken word, hundreds of philosophers have defined law in different ways. Seeing law in different
ways people can come to different conclusions about specific cases. The Fugitive Slave Law was a
controversial law in American history. The Fugitive Slave Law allowed slave owners to capture their
slaves who have fled north to free states. In United States v Morris, the emancipators challenged the
Fugitive Slave Law in Boston. A group of emancipators helped an escaped slave flee to Canada; the
Fugitive Slave Law states helping an escaped slave is in violation of the law. In this case, the jurors let
the emancipators free for helping a slave escape slavery to Canada. Philosophy gives us the tools to
analyze the legality of the juror s actions and answer the question Did the jurors in Morris do the right
thing? Natural Law theory, Positivism, Legal Realism, Dworkin s neo natural law theory, and Butler s
critical law theory all provide different outlooks to answering this question. All of these philopshers
have differing beliefs of the role of morality and law. However, these philosophies all conclude in the
answer the jurors in Morris, in fact, did the right thing. The Natural Law

How Organizational Change Is The Transformation And...
Examining organisational change, we can see that it is the transformation and development within an
organization which includes the structure, work methods, or work culture. It is when people attain new
behavior in order to adapt to their environment (Pullen, 1993). This occurs because there may be some
adjustments which leave many businesses no choice but to change; for example, adjustments in
consumer demands, legal factors, economy, and competitors. A major aspect which triggers change is
organisational innovation. According to McWilliams (2013, p.111), innovation is being able to put into
place new creative ideas. To put this into context, we are going to use technology as a model to help
better understand the elements of change and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This results in an introduction of a dominant design; the most popular choice amongst customers. If
the dominant design becomes a success, it may create a technological lockout, where companies may
find it extremely strenuous to sell their products, or it may result in incremental change. Incremental
change consists of improving the dominant design, and when the organization forms new ideas
(innovate) on how to better improve and manufacture the product.
Technology has a life cycle. Initially, a new technology is introduced and this is a result of
organisational innovation. When the cycle concludes, technology is therefore replaced by a more up to
date technology. According to McWilliams (2013, p.111), vast amounts of research were conducted to
propose that many technology cycles are based on the S curve patthern of innovation . It is a model
which depicts how new technology replaces old technology. The S curve can also be understood by
innovation streams. Innovation streams go into further depth about the different stages the life cycles
of technologies. As previously mentioned, it first starts off with technological discontinuity. Living in
the 21st century, technology is constantly advancing at a rapid rate. With a broad range of skillsets
from every industry and through contemporary science, we are able to produce technology in all kinds
of ways as well as to introduce various creative ideas. Advances in technology result in a change in

DOST PTRI turned difficult to remove stains from these husks into a textile dye called coconut pink.
They found out that young coconut husk extract imparts red to maroon color on silk, piña seda and
piña while it produces an old rose color on cotton. They also established colorfastness, laundering and
light ratings of the dyed materials and found these to be satisfactory for all these types. Coconut husks
potential to impart red color comes as a necessary indulgence for textile manufacturers who use in
great quantities the non colorfast red dye from sibukao (Caesalpinnia sappan). The textile institute s
research study revealed that young coconut husks sourced from different locations produce varying
shades of red. This required thus hue and color tint matching capabilities and adjustments in the
dyeing parameters. In addition, DOST PTRI found that coconuts from high elevations yield almost no
color compared with coconuts from coastals and low lying areas. This new use for young coconut
husks holds promise for additional income for farmers. Likewise, the new technique s requirement for
compulsory chopping of husks before extraction facilitates rapid decomposition. This reduces the risk
of clogging of waterways and drainage systems along coconut processing

Ganglion Cyst Research Paper
A ganglion cyst is a noncancerous, fluid filled lump that occurs near joints or tendons. The ganglion
cyst grows out of a joint or the lining of a tendon. It most often develops in the hand or wrist but can
also develop in the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle, or foot. The round or oval ganglion can be pea
sized or larger than a grape. Increased activity may enlarge the size of the cyst because more fluid
starts to build up. CAUSES It is not known what causes a ganglion cyst to grow. However, it may be
related to: Inflammation or irritation around the joint. An injury. Repetitive movements or overuse.
Arthritis. RISK FACTORS Risk factors include: Being a woman. Being between the ages of 20 50.

Ganglion cysts are most often diagnosed based on a physical exam. Your health care provider will feel
the lump and may shine a light alongside it. If it is a ganglion, a light often shines through it. Your
health care provider may order an X ray, ultrasound, or MRI to rule out other conditions.
TREATMENT Ganglions usually go away on their own without treatment. If pain or other symptoms
are involved, treatment may be needed. Treatment is also needed if the ganglion limits your movement
or if it gets infected. Treatment may include: Wearing a wrist or finger brace or splint. Taking anti
inflammatory medicine. Draining fluid from the lump with a needle (aspiration). Injecting a steroid
into the joint. Surgery to remove the ganglion cyst. HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS Do not press on
the ganglion, poke it with a needle, or hit it. Take medicines only as directed by your health care
provider. Wear your brace or splint as directed by your health care provider. Watch your ganglion cyst

Advantage Of Chemotherapy
In 2012 there were 338,623 new cases of cancer in the UK. In the same year 161,823 people died from
cancer in the UK (Cancer Research UK, 2015). According to studies done by Cancer Research UK
42% cases of cancer in the UK are preventable.
Along with radiotherapy treatment, chemotherapy is of the most common treatment for cancer in that
it has been proven as one of the most effective. Chemotherapy kills the cancer cells by damaging them
so that they can t reproduce and spread, it uses anti cancer medicines also called cytotoxic medicines
(Macmillan Cancer Support, 2015). Although chemotherapy is an effective treatment for cancer, it
doesn t cure the patient of cancer entirely. Cancer researchers are investigating into ways in which
they can cure cancer but haven t found a cure as of yet. Chemotherapy is used only in cases if the

An Evaluation Of A Marketing Audit
A marketing audit is a systematic approach to examining existing products and services for strengths
and weaknesses. It often focuses on the Ps of marketing including product, price, place, and promotion
along with other elements. The purpose of the marketing audit is to appraise the organization s current
status and provide recommendations for future action. Darlene Weingand (1999) adapted Philip Kotler
s definition of a marketing audit. It s a comprehensive, systematic, independent, periodic examination
of the information agency s total environment, objectives, strategies, activities, and resources in order
to determine problem areas and opportunities and to recommend a plan of action. An audit is used to
identify capabilities and challenges in the organization. This assessment should include both internal
and external investigations. The internal aspect focuses on the library itself, while the external aspect
explores the larger organization, the local community, and the larger country. The marketing audit
provides the basis for making informed decisions about library activities. What s realistic and
unrealistic for your organization? What makes your programs unique? What changes need to be made
in the library s programs and services? http://eduscapes.com/marketing/2.htm TABLE OF

Summary Of Rethinking Eating
The article, Building a $325,000 Burger, talked about Dr. Post and his work on in vitro meat. His
experiments are to make meat out of stem cell grown muscles. The idea for having in vitro meat has
many positive aspects, for example, it supports animal welfare, covers environmental issues, greatly
reduces water, land, and energy use, and emissions of methane and other greenhouse gases, compared
with conventional raising of cattle or other livestock . Since this cultured meat is made through stem
cells, the cells can turn into any kind of tissue. If someone wanted muscle tissue or neural tissue, then
he or she can access it.
Since this technology is fairly new and is undergoing development, it has not reached the hands of
consumers as yet. Dr. Post plans on having a public display of taste testing the hamburger. He has
already tried the meat in his lab and claimed that without any fat, the tissue tastes reasonably good .
There are questions regarding safety and costs, however, whether this meat could affect our organs
and make them weaker or indirectly harm in a way like alter DNA as red meat does, and whether this
technology can improve enough to make the costs go down to produce in vitro meat. One last concern
is whether more than one square centimeter of muscle meat can ... Show more content on

Essay On Military Censorship
Censorship during times of war has been explained countless times both in favor and in opposition to
the idea. A government s job is to protect individuals and military when countries are fighting amongst
one another, but the reality of what is happening is not always broadcasted to the general public.
Justification for censorship during times of war cannot be found with the fact of public trust, privacy,
and emotional distress being neglected with lack of information and withholding personal dedications
to loved ones at home. Shielding a community from the harsh matter of death and grief happening on
the battlefield should be chosen personally, not by an outside source. The suppression of information

An Analysis Of The Media s Bias
An Analysis of Bias in Media Bias by and within the media is subject to and motivated by a complex
but predictable set of factors. These factors are both meaningful and measurable. Bias within the
media is oftentimes thought of as simple and straightforward but this is not the case. While no ethnic
group outright denies the existence of bias within major news outlets, whites feel it occurs less than
blacks. Exceptions that conflict with this sentiment do exist, of course. As David Niven stated in his
2005 paper, certain powerful individuals are capable of making targeted allegations of bias that serve
only to highlight a specific individual or socio political entity s style of thinking in this article
instance, sports reporters were criticized by Rush Limbaugh for having more sympathy for black
quarterbacks when they performed well. However, in cases like this one, the remark can be depicted
as purely for publicity s sake rather than reporting. Blacks on the other hand have demonstrated a
consistent level of doubt relating to the credibility of major news coverage, but with a drawback. As
Beaudoin Thorson state in the 2005 paper, coverage of Blacks and black issues is viewed less
favorably when presented with non black or low black sources. Blacks and black issues presented by
or with a black source are viewed considerably more favorable. This topic of bias is in a near constant
state of flux. As ratios and relationships of and between different ethnic

Conformity In Dead Poets Society
Carpe diem, seize the day, boys, seize the day. Mr. Keating told this quote to the boys almost every
day and he wanted them to be their own individuals. While watching the movie, Dead Poets Society,
we realize how important it is to have individuality and to not conform to everyone else s normal ways
to live. The Dead Poets Society was filmed by Peter Weir in the year 1989, starring boys attending a
preparatory school, who are being forced to ideas of conformity, not being able to have their own
ideals, and dealing with their overbearing parents. Conformity is a huge deal back in 1959, you couldn
t talk back to your teachers, your parents, or anyone for that matter. Conformity can have a negative
undertone in school because students are supposed to be individual and should not have to be the same
as everyone else. Students should be able to act how they want to be who they are. Children in school
should be given their own opportunity to do what they please. Non conformity can have a positive
undertone in school because not being conformed to everyone else s norm, you are a special
individual. Being able to do as you want is good to becoming your own person and not being like
everyone else in school. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Turbo technics technology offer a Hybrid Turbo for the Land rover Defender 2200cc engine which

Joe Light produced his mixed media painting Colored Hobo in the 1980s using different kinds of paint
on a wooden panel (wooden door that is turned sideways). Just as the title proposes, the painting s
subject is a colored man that is hobo who is walking with a stick and a bag at the end of the stick

His use of warm colors throughout the piece and his use of cool colors mixed in with the warm colors
creates balance. However, the contrast between the warm colors and the cool color create variety. The
little window on the door has a random picture of what looks like a leaf and flowers growing on top of
the leaf also create variety because it is not part of the male hobo who is the main focus. The little
picture in the window is the only other thing in the artwork besides the male hobo which makes the
viewer question its purpose (well it definitely made me question what it had to do with the artwork!).
Light uses dark black lines outline to show the mountains, his overalls, his hat, his stick, his bag tied at
the end of his stick, the river or stream, and the grass. The lines show the shape of everything in the
picture. The value of the picture is between medium and dark, though the orange in the mountains and
the pink in the river or stream is bright. The space of the art piece is negative, open, and shallow. The

Paul Laurence Dunbar We Wear Mask
What does it mean to be a good poet? Who is a good poet? There is only one answer to these
questions, and the answer is that a good poet is someone who can bring hidden and exciting emotions
through their work and can make the readers feel exactly what they were trying to convey through
words. Paul Laurence Dunbar is the best African American poet of the 19th century and early 20th
century. His work leaves behind a legacy. Especially the poem We Wear Mask . The poem strongly
conveys the struggle, the inner experience, and the humiliation of the African American community.

He suggests that they believed the people with power should see what they want them to see. They
never expressed their true feelings. From the beginning, African Americans have been represented in a
false way to the society. As Daly Guilamo emphasizes in his article Paul Laurence Dunbar and Juan
Bosch Converse on Racial Violence: Writing Justice and Injustice that Paul Laurence Dunbar uses the
guise of white American guilt to portray lynching as a racist tradition that is outdated and
incompatible with modernism. (p. 22). Daly Guilamo article emphasizes about how people should
have given them the respect they deserved even as slaves. Moreover, Dunbar knew that words are
more powerful than any other thing in this world. Just as Joanne Gabbin, states in his article Intimate
Intercessions in the Poetry of Paul Laurence Dunbar that the Biblical figure who helped to establish
the Christian church, Dunbar took seriously his parents charge to be a great man who would carry the
word to his people (p. 227). We wear the mask expresses every bit of expression that African
Americans, slaves have felt. It contributes to cultural ideas and expectations to the society in the form
of expression. It promotes the values of African Americans having rights to freely express themselves,
but they couldn t. It supports the idea that slaves were hiding their emotions because they felt it was

Ready For Junior Year
To begin with, so far I started off on the right track this year and I m satisfied about it. There this one
question that has been constantly repeating itself on my head. Am I ready for junior year? I been
asking this question to myself constantly this school year. I believe that I m not ready for junior year.
The reason why I m saying this is because I feel like there a lot more concepts to know of to be

1. Transmission Circuit:
Fig. 3.3 Transmitter circuit
This circuit diagram shows how a 555 timer IC is configured to function as a basic monostable
multivibrator. A monostable multivibrator is a timing circuit that changes state once triggered, but
returns to its original state after a certain time delay. It got its name from the fact that only one of its
output states is stable. It is also known as a one shot .
In this circuit, a negative pulse applied at pin 2 triggers an internal flip flop that turns off pin 7 s
discharge transistor, allowing C1 to charge up through
R1. At the same time, the flip flop brings the output (pin 3) level to high . When capacitor C1 as
charged up to about 2/3 Vcc, the flip flop is triggered once again, this time making the pin 3 output
low and turning on pin 7 s discharge transistor, which discharges C1 to ground. This circuit, in effect,
produces a pulse at pin 3 whose width t is just the product of R1 and C1, i.e., t=R1C1.
IR Transmission circuit is used to generate the modulated 36 kHz IR signal. The IC555 in the
transmitter side is to generate 36 kHz square wave. Adjust the preset in the transmitter to get a 38 kHz

Mary Anne In The Things They Carried By Tim O Brien
In the novel The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien in the chapter Sweetheart of Song Tra Bong the
Vietnam war changes Mary Anne from an innocent young lady into a beast. While people at at war,
many changes occur to ruin a completely innocent person s state of mind, and change them into
deranged human beings, because of the rough environment and crazy things that occur while people
are on the battlefield. When Mary Anne first arrived in Vietnam she seemed as she was completely
innocent charming lady. Mary Anne had a conventional personality, and was even described as a lady
with long white legs and blue eyes and a complexion like strawberry ice cream. Very friendly too . (O

Mary Anne first arrived in Vietnam she would have never got her hands bloody, as she was in a

of herself and even lost some of her identity, as she stopped wearing jewelry, cut the hair short

changes made it very clear that Mary Anne was letting herself go, and made her seem as if she did not
care about herself anymore. These all started to make Mary Anne seem like more of a beast, rather

A Day At the Fair
A Day At the Fair Personal Narrative
It is Thursday, August 24th, the opening day of the Minnesota State Fair. I am here with my family, a
friend and his mom, and one of my sister s friends. It seems so long since last year s fair. I always look
forward to the state fair, even though it s pretty much the same every year.
We park at the same man s house every year. His house is right behind the mini donut stand on
midway parkway, across the street from the main gate. As we pull into his driveway, I feel a pang of
excitement run through me, and when I get out, I can smell it. The smell is familiar, distinctive. When
the telltale aroma wafts into my nostrils, I remember why come to this thing every year. We walk over

Main seating is in the middle, bleacher seating is on either end. It is designed as a racing arena, so it is
very wide and not good, in my opinion, for concerts. They had to put up large movie screens on both
sides of the stage because you can t see the stage from the bleachers. There is a race every Labor Day,
the last day of the fair. You can hear the cars from all over the fairgrounds and it gets really, really
annoying after a while. Some artists appearing this year include Christina Aguilera, Goo Goo Dolls,
and Weird Al Yankovic. I plan on seeing Weird Al on Sunday.
The part of the Grandstand that we are going to now is the main building. It consists of two floors of
merchants selling all sorts of things, from pianos to software to golf clubs to the latest cooking
gizmos. A friend of ours works at the Nadachair booth. He is my sister s friend s teacher. We usually
visit him every year. A Nadachair is basically a cushion for your back with a strap around your waist
for extra support. The East Room is just a separate room with more of the same stuff. I usually don t
go there because it is uncomfortably hot in there. The main building and the East Room are under the
bleachers. Outside the grandstand is the Corn Roast. They sell grilled corn that is absolutely fabulous.

yellow wavy slide that is about fifty feet tall and

Visual Analysis Essay On Bridget Riley
There is a single gallery exhibition showing at the Art Institute of Chicago, presenting Bridget Riley s
works. Gallery 294 is exhibiting three paintings and one installation in all. Riley is a British artist who
dominantly engaged in a short lived art movement called Op Art in 1960s and since then she
developed her works from abstract black and white paintings to colorful stripe paintings. Riley
inherited the legacy of Abstract Expressionism. She used simple geometric shapes in her paintings and
arouses viewers complicated sensations but also provides viewers virtually optical experiences.
In Bridget Riley s works, an illusion of movement (and of volume) is engendered by the
destabilization of a regular pattern and the continually confusing inversion of figure and ground.
(Foster, 418) It is very explicit in Ascending and Descending Hero, which occupies the most
conspicuous position in the gallery. The overall painting is symmetrically constituted by different
sized black triangles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the opposite wall of the Ascending and Descending Hero, Horizontal Vibration is extremely simple
in its visual aspects. Riley painted many black horizontal lines in different thicknesses. When the
viewer backs two steps away then the viewer can actual feels the vibration from these horizontal lines.
Red Modulation (Yellow and Orange) is in between the Ascending and Descending Hero and
Horizontal Vibration. Riley repeated warm color horizontal lines in the same thickness. It does not
only create a pattern, but also hides several vertical lines when the viewer steps back to the middle of
the gallery. Some pink vertical lines are dancing in the repetitive stripes. Both of the pieces offer
viewers a virtual optical experience. Walking slowly into the installation Continuum, Riley built a
hypnotic space for viewers by painting monochromatic geometric shapes

of plants and animals. Prairies began appearing in the mid section of our continent eight to ten
thousand years ago and have developed into one of the most complex and diverse ecosystems in the

cold winters locked in frigid winds and ice. Tallgrass prairies are an extremely complex web of life. At

Hormones Lab Report
1. Background/Introductions: Hormones are a regulatory substance produced in an organism and
transported in blood to stimulate target cells or tissues into action. There are many glands and lobes in
the endocrine system that produce hormones, but for this experiment we are particularly interested in
the pituitary gland and the intermediate lobe because those are the two parts of it that produce
Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone (MHS). These hormones are peptide hormones that are produced in
response to UV light, but are not a direct feedback mechanism. When the hormones are secreted out of
the glands, they travel through the bloodstream until they reach melanocytes located in the skin

Specifically in red hair, light skin people and in dogs.
2. Specific Aim(s): Questions that will be answered: How particular SNP s ultimately affect the
structure and function of the MSH receptor, leading to decreased signaling by the receptor. What is the
normal structure and function of the MHS receptor? Where within the structure do normal amino acids
reside? What is the side chain structure of the variant and non variant amino acids at the polymorphic
sites? How might the variant amino acids alter the structure and/or function of the protein?
A. The goal of this project is to find a correlation between the MSHR amino acid variation and skin
type. Then use the correlation to explore the effects of amino acid variants on the structure and
function of the MSH receptor.
B. Hypothesis: If we can perform the PCR reaction of a dogs DNA, then we will be able to compare
its amino acid structure to its hair color, as well as simply compare it to a humans.
C. We will test this hypothesis by attempting to see if we can perform the PCR reaction for dogs, since
the primers are optimized for humans. If we can we will sequence them with human DNA.
Additionally, we will also see if we can modify the PCR reaction in order to obtain a PCR product
from the dog DNA. If we get a product from the PCR reaction, it will be

The Importance Of Employee Uniforms
Introduction Have you ever wondered why companies make their employees wear a specific uniform
or wear a specific style of pant and shirt? Well, there are many reasons why; one, the company may
use their uniform as part of their organization s colors. This allows the employee to feel they are part
of the organization and it allows the consumer to identify a company purely from the colors on a
uniform. Just within the past year, a sitcom television show called Superstore. Those who watch this
sitcom, quickly realizes how those who wrote the scripts and chose the actors clothing did so to poke
fun directly towards Wal Mart. Additionally, a person s physical appearance, such as piercings, tattoos,
and hair styles are all ways others associate them as a good or bad person, and clothing is no
exception. Whether it is in a business setting, a restaurant, or even a doctor s office, a person s
perception towards another is determined by initial contact. Despite a single office or profession;
employers need to consider a dress code to ensure the safety of all employees. Moreover, some
employees do not direct a dress code as a way to save operational costs, while some provide the
employees with a shirt and the employee must wear a specific type and color of pant. Sure, the dress
code for employees can be unattractive, however, the employer is not paying the person to look good
or seek a partner. Employers need to explain the reason the companies uniforms are designed and

hopes.

Over 23 million cars were made.
Other scientific things that were invented at the time was freezing to preserve foods, car companies for
example Ford and Chrysler, dry roll film and portable cameras.
There were many reasons for the boom they were: Mass production: Factories around the USA could
use electricity and set up assembly lines and make objects quickly. The cars were made identical to
make them easier to make and so they are cheaper.
America was being paid back loaned that it had lent other countries during the war, on top of this they
were making interest. The banks now had lots of money to lend to people setting up a business or for
people to buy on the margin.
Taxation was kept low and businesses and companies able to keep much of the profit to invest in new
efficient factories that produced goods at a cheaper price.
Advertising also played a part in the boom, these convinced people to buy their items. They
exaggerated. Advertising took place on the Posters, radio newspapers, magazines and cinema, they
encouraged people to buy more and more, and the families had many more items than the rest of the
world. When something new had come along every one had to buy it. It was like competitions

The Wrath Of God Vs. Big Brother
The Wrath of God vs. Big Brother: Observational Effects of Cooperation in the Dictator Game (2000
words)
General overview of plan
A consistent finding within the paradigm of experimental games is that humans reward others who
behave cooperatively and fairly (Gächter, Renner Sefton, 2008, Zimring, 1971) and often impose
sanctions on those who fail to do so (Guala, 2012, Bankston Cramer, 1974). One potential means of
implementing and maintaining fairness is through the maintenance of a cultural norm of fairness (Fehr
Fischbacher, 2004). As human societies are often predicated repeated cooperative behaviours between
genetically unrelated individuals (McKay, Efferson, Whitehouse Fehr, 2010) one possible explanation
for large scale cooperation is through the reinforcement of behaviours that preserve social and moral
standards and punishment of behaviours which are associated with norm violations (Carpenter,
Matthews Ong ong a, 2004, Falk, Fehr Fischbacher, 2005, Hopfensitz Reuben 2009, Casari Luini
2012). One way of enforcing these norms is through the use of belief in supernatural agents (Ahmed
Salas, 2008). It has been suggested by some researchers that individuals with a belief in a form of
supernatural punishment can be used to promote prosocial behaviour (Norenzayan Shariff, 2008) and
can be achieved via due to two possible proximate mechanisms. Individuals who hold a belief in an
omnibenevolent being primes cultural norms which are associated with

Compare And Contrast Judaism And Monotheism
Pharisees: spiritual grandparents of rabbinic Judaism. They believed that God controlled all things, yet
decisions made by individuals also contributed to the course of a person s life. Also, they believed in
the resurrection and the award/punishment in the afterlife notion.
Reform Judaism: the more liberal, progressive, modern thinking sect of Jews. The reformers began by
reforming the prayer service to bring it into line with Western sensibilities. They also began to
reexamine the underpinnings of Judaism, the meaning of the Torah, reward and punishment of the
afterlife, the meaning end of time, and the role of Jews in the integrated world. Reform Judaism wants

Monotheism: this means the belief that there is only one God. Monotheism is present within all three

Current Market Segments Of Tesla
changing market dynamics, rendering itself with certain information lag and marketing inaccuracy.
Current market segments of Tesla China are generally based on income level and an added up function
of technology savviness. Such market segment pattern can be easily seen through Tesla s development
track in China and its technological centric product strategy. The characteristic of such market
segments is quite straight forward, much resembles the characteristic of Tesla Motors itself. Under the
new market outlook, however, it can hardly afford to ignore the lower income fan base which would
have a huge positive promotional effect for Tesla brand.
With a large customer base and the Chinese government pushing force, would not be difficult for Tesla
to educate the unaware mass market of its concept and technological advances. This will create a
strong social stream which might influence its potential customers. The lower income segments could
also serve as a good customer base for the much anticipated Model 3.
2. Promotional Strategy
Create a Buzz
Tesla Motors had endorsed a direct sales strategy and pretty much only relied on word of mouth in
promoting its brand. Although word of mouth is one of the most credible ways of advertising, its
influence is quite limited especially during new product promotion. This approach has slowed down
the brand penetration process into the potential market segments, which might be a major reason for
the loss of sales momentum since last

causes of The Great Depression were that there were a lot of overproduction of consumer goods which
resulted in the decrease in demand, another reason was that there were many bankruptcies and high

people to either become employed and or even homeless. During the Roaring Twenties, the Middle

tasks at hand. Hercules finds hidden qualities deep inside himself that help him figure out how to beat
the task at hand. He finds that there is more to himself than just strength and power. He is also cunning
and intelligent. Hercules completes the tasks at hand in this stage and the tasks help shape his
character. Hercules learns a little from each task which helps his character build. A key example of this
is how Hercules handled cleaning the Augean stables. He decided it was not possible to clean the
stables himself because the mares dung kept coming so he decided to wash out the feces with the
rivers Alpheus and Peneus. Hercules finds his great character flaw in the 5th labor. This flaw is his

cattle to Hercules. Augeas decided to dishonor their previous agreement so Hercules killed him and
stole all the cattle for himself. This was an action of rage not logic and hurt his chances of getting
credit for the task. He learned from this because his cousin, King Eurystheus, made Hercules do

Essay On Organ Donation
Organ donation is when a person authorizes an organ or any biological tissue of the human body to be
surgically remove while the donor is still alive or after death. Organs and tissues that are
transplantable will be removed in a surgical procedure and will be determine if they are suitable and
can be used for transplantation. An organ transplantation is a surgical procedure in which an organ is
removed from the donor s body and placed in the recipient s body. Organ donor is someone who is

organ that will be donated from the organ donor is called the recipient. There are two kinds of organ
donation: living donation and deceased donation. Living donation is when the organ donor is still alive
while deceased donation is when the donation takes place after death. Organ donation has been going

Brigham Hospital in Boston in December 23, 1954. The operation was led by Dr. Joseph Murray

Social Pressure In Randall Jarrell s The Ball Turret Gunner
People s opinions can be changed or influenced by social pressure. We are swayed by our peers, the
media and by advertising. We are surrounded by something or someone telling us what is the newest
fashion, the latest social trend and even what is considered attractive. These social pressures succeed
because the need to conform is an innate instinct that increases survivability in a social environment.
This conforming to social pressure is not bad or wrong; however, the implications of what can happen
when we become overly agreeable are troubling. Studies have been conducted and poems have been
written about our instinct to conform and how it could affect the future. Solomon E. Asch, a social
psychologist, conducted one of these studies. The experiments, which examined a person s responses
when faced with social pressure, consisted of a group of people that were shown two cards: one with
one line drawn on it and another card with 3 or more lines drawn on it. The subjects were to respond

Jarrell s poem is about a ball turret gunner for a military unit during a war. The gunner describes
himself as being asleep his whole life until he gets killed by an enemy plane. What this means is that,
from the day he was born, he did what he was told and obeyed the government (the State ). The last
line of the poem states, When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose. This line is
significant because it implies that the gunner s sacrifice of his life for the State was meaningless, as if
he were just another product on an assembly line. His reward for conforming to the State s wishes was

Essay about Cooperative Learning
Cooperative Learning During the weekend I spent learning about the theories and structures of
cooperative learning, I was captivated by five components of cooperative learning. I intend to use
these five in my own classroom. They begin with the introduction games Pleased to Meet You and
Knotting Acquaintance followed by the creation of base groups and finally STAD and TGT. These are
five basic, yet exciting ways to use cooperative groups in the classroom.
I will use the first two introduction games at the start of the school year, because students are nervous
about the start of school and these games are great for breaking the ice. I would start with the pleased
to meet you form. This gets students talking amongst one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I like the base group because it gives the students a home. The base groups help open the door to
getting the cooperative learning going. The length of time that the base groups will stay together
depends on the climate in the classroom. If I have selected well and the groups have been successful I
might be inclined to let them work together up to the midpoint of the school year. The base groups
will merely serve as a home. Depending on the activity the class is doing I will use ad hoc groups and
Formal learning groups.
In the Formal learning groups, as well as in the ad hoc and the base groups, I will employ two types of
group activities the STAD system and the TGT system.
The Student Team Achievement System (STAD) is a five part system with proven effectiveness in
Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science. The groups are set up heterogeneously and
presented with new material. The next step is to have the learners practice the material within their
group. It is the responsibility of the group to be sure all group members have received the information
and have a clear understanding of it. Once the groups have had sufficient time to practice, the teacher
gives the students individual quizzes. The quizzes are scored and the learners earn points for their
group. The points earned by the group members are based on their level of improvement over their
base score; their average score on the previous quizzes. The base score could also be established by

Lab Report Of Freezing Point Of Cyclohexanol

Freezing Point Depression
Introduction:
The purpose of this lab experiment is to calculate the change in the freezing point of cyclohexanol and
a solution made with cyclohexanol to find the molar mass of the unknown solute. The colligative
properties of solutions are based on the concentration of molecules rather than the identity of the
chemical. Freezing point, a colligative property of a solution, is constant in any substance and does not
rely on the amount given. For any solution composted of two or more components, there is one
solvent and one or more solutes. The major amount is the solvent and the minor amounts are the
solutes. When solutes are dissolved in solvents, the solution s freezing point is ... Show more content

This can be accounted for in the sample of cyclohexanol. The experiment must have had a
contaminated sample of cyclohexanol, rather than a pure sample. This accounts for the difference in
the experimental values and the actual values.
Conclusion:
By demonstrating the application of a colligative property of a solution, the change in freezing point
observed between the cyclohexanol and the solution with the cyclohexanol as the solvent can be used
to calculate the unknown solute s molar mass. The data in the lab was graphed and shown in the
cooling curve. Bases off the data on the graph, the freezing points are shown where the temperature
remains constant. Using the freezing points, the difference of freezing point was calculated. The
molality of solution was calculated in the lab using the molar mass of the unknown solution from the
given previous data. The data in the lab showed the molar mass of the unknown solute to be off from
the given molar mass in the lab. This can be explained through contamination. Theoretically, it was
learned that by calculating the freezing point of an unknown substance, it can be identified. The lab
showed important techniques in using a graph

A Summary Of The Cherokee Tribe
History of Traditions Overdriving Biological Patterns
The Cherokee Tribe is among the more popularly known Native American tribes in the United States.
They are mainly remembered for their fight against the U.S. government and the Supreme Court and
their forced migration in the Trail of Tears. However, as mentioned by North Carolina Digital History
and Robert Conley, because of their written language, many of their traditions and history is well
known and taught in schools as an example of Native American culture (10.2 and 105). Michael D.
Green and Theda Perdure introduce Cherokee history in the book, The Cherokee Removal: A Brief
History with Documents. The tribe originally inhabited southeast North America in what is currently
Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, and into northern Georgia and Alabama 1). From 1836 to 1839
the Cherokee Tribe was forcibly and harshly removed and relocated in Oklahoma in what is known as
The Trail of Tears (Green 160) Throughout all the changes the Cherokee had to undergo as they lost
their traditional land and home, they were able to keep their traditions, rituals, and ceremonies and
some, such as the dance and medicine use, are still practiced today. Traditions and rituals are repeated
over and over, year after year. For an event to have this much significance in a society it must have
been important from the time it began. As Miller Williams, a poet from 1930 2015, said, Ritual is
important to us as human beings. It ties us to our

Oregon Trail Dangers
Since the British finally let their claims of Oregon land go, this opened land to other people in
America to take. A lot of people decided to be brave and take the long trek to Oregon. Considering the
economic depression happening, any slight hope of a better life, would seem like a dream. Before
traveling, families knew of the dangers that faced them. The dangers were simply multiple ways that
anyone in the family could possibly die from. Including a light scare of going the wrong direction. Fur
trappers were able to create a Oregon Trail , so that people could make it towards Oregon. They also
knew of the type of reward they would receive if they were to make it. The reward could of course be
more land to farm on. Especially considering the

The Pioneers Of Aviation By Orville And Wilbur Wright...
Orville and Wilbur Wright brothers were the pioneers of aviation since its first flight performed in
1903 in a heavier than the air machine in North Carolina; but it was not until World War II, when in
flight travel achieved a prominent place in other countries, prompted the beginning of a new way of
communication and a new business.
When the reorganization of the airlines in operation occurred, the network of scheduled flights from
fixed itineraries comprehensive and competitive race began in improving the services they offered,
such as trained attendants to deal effectively with passengers during flights. Leaning on the technical
evolution and the race of modernization and progress, service airline has managed to prevail and win
the battle brilliantly, that is why every day many services are efficient such as reservation systems,
baggage handling, documentation, and others. Commercial aviation is an activity that is created from
the need to transport people and goods, hence airlines became an option as business.
The Boeing Company was a small military contractor and was one of the best trading companies in
the world, because it s advanced technology that was used in warplanes, then those advances changes
were incorporated into commercial aviation.
The U.S. airline industry is one of the most varied and active in the world, even though the latest years
this industry have been struggling to make revenues and profits. Thus, among all the regulated
business within United

Why Might Different Pressure Groups Use Different Methods...
Why might different pressure groups use different methods in their methods in their attempts to
influence government .
Pressure groups are groups of like minded individuals who come together on the basis of shared
interests or a commonly held cause in order to put pressure on policy makers at Westminster and
beyond. Pressure groups are significantly more numerous than political parties because whereas the
parties tend to aggregate and accommodate a wide range of views in an effort to see their candidate
elected to public off, pressure groups have a tendency to fragment opinion. Recent years have seen the
emergence of looser social movements and more focused single issue groups, replacing larger, more
traditional groups as a fundamental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It starts from the premise that conventional methods of influencing policy are flawed and that more
visible and direct protests, perhaps even involving civil disobedience, illegal methods or violence,
may offer the best opportunity of success because they attract media attention, raise public awareness
and force politicians to sit up and listen.
Although many feel that direction action techniques provide the most immediate way of articulating
their views and achieving tangible results, critics argue that the rise in single issue, direct action
politics undermines our system of representative democracy. This is because such campaigns prevent
governments from implementing their programmes and from pursuing policies that address the bigger
picture.
The scope and scale of direct action campaigns has increased significantly since the 1990s. The anti
roads protests of recent years, the campaign against live animal exports, the campaigns against fox
hunting and vivisection, the fuel protests and the campaigns by groups such as Fathers4Justice and
environmental groups such as Greenpeace and Plane Stupid have al been seen to have had some effect
on policy or opinion.
Precisely how effective individual pressure groups are is often hard to gauge not least because many
core insider groups prefer not to publicise the extent of their influence, for fear of alienating the
government and losing their privileged status. Similarly, while high profile

Essay On Man s Search For Meaning
A prominent quote in the bible comes from John 8:13 and states, The truth will set you free .
According to this, knowing the truth will free one from the prison of falsehood, and yet the truth is
often accompanied by some form of suffering. Knowing the truth will free someone from the lie they
are living, but it may not be a life they wish to be freed from. In difficult situations, people often rely
on illusion and live in denial as a way to survive, due to the truth being too difficult to accept. In order
to find meaning in one s life while suffering or experiencing a difficult situation, meaning is often
found in illusions and false hoods, rather than in reality. Within Man s Search for Meaning by Viktor
Frankl, The Matrix, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Illusion, it seemed, was the best remedy to survive the horrors of the camps. Frankl used this illusion
to ignore the reality of what he was suffering from in order to find meaning and be able to survive. If
one were to fixate on the horrors of the reality he was living, he would be unable to see a future
outside the camp and therefore a reason to live, ultimately resulting in his demise.
The idea of using illusion to escape the horrors of reality is depicted by Cypher in The Matrix. Cypher
had been awoken by Morpheus and reborn into the real world outside the Matrix. In the movie Cypher
is seen at dinner with Agent Smith, and describes to the agent that ... I know this steak doesn t exist. I
know when I put it in my mouth; the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy, and delicious. After
nine years.. you know what I realize? Ignorance is bliss (Wachowski, The Matrix). This is Cypher s
justification for betraying his friends and helping the agents protect the Matrix against Morpheus and
his allies. Cypher was disgusted by the nature of reality in comparison to the blissful illusion that the
Matrix provided, and he was desperate to return to that. Because of this, Cypher, during a mission,
separated himself from the others in the Matrix and returned to reality, shooting Tank and then
unplugging Apoc and Switch to kill them. As he attempted to kill neo, Tank regained consciousness
and stopped Cypher

  • 2. The Importance Of Life As A Seventh Grader CUSACK AM CONFERENCE ESSAY Last year as a sixth grader, I wasn t as irresponsible as I thought I was looking back on it now. I got most of my homework in on time, I had good grades and I was organised. I had good friends to help me through the hard parts and I like to think that I helped others as well. One of the actions that helped me later in seventh grade was when I had study hall last year. It definitely helped me realize to set aside time for homework. Plus it showed me how to keep homework and school work in separate, prioritized sections in my life. Last year, with the electives that I had, I was able to make friends outside of sixth grade and when I went into seventh grade, I had people who had the same teachers from the year before help me with things I either couldn t understand or needed advice for. Also, in that part of things, I talked to teachers that I didn t have earlier, but later in the school year and I got to know some of them. Which definitely helped me as a seventh grader, by knowing somewhat what to expect if I had them as my teachers. Life as a seventh grader seems pretty easy compared to an adult s everyday life, but in the moment it can be pretty challenging. One of the few challenges that I have faced happened when I went to Ireland for two weeks. I only missed seven total school days and I tried to bring most of my school work with me, but it still wasn t easy when I had missed lessons and tests when I couldn t learn them from nearly five ... Also, in an article authored by Guardian News Tony Wadsworth, a former CEO of EMI music, tries to define the changes in their company s role, compared to 1990 s era, record labels have become unrecognizable... they have become smaller, productive, and diversified regarding functionality (p130). One of the theories in sociology is structural functionalism, or also known has the consensus theory. The structural functionalism level of analysis is macro. Structural functionalism is defined as a theoretical approach that sees society as a structure with interrelated parts designed to meet the biological and social needs of individuals of those that make up a society. • 6. The Nature Of People s Beliefs Philosophy allows people to study the nature of people s beliefs. Throughout history people s beliefs have differed. At one time people may believe one idea and decades later people may completely disagree with that idea. Not even the ideas of the law are exempt from this occurrence. Since the spoken word, hundreds of philosophers have defined law in different ways. Seeing law in different ways people can come to different conclusions about specific cases. The Fugitive Slave Law was a controversial law in American history. The Fugitive Slave Law allowed slave owners to capture their slaves who have fled north to free states. In United States v Morris, the emancipators challenged the Fugitive Slave Law in Boston. A group of emancipators helped an escaped slave flee to Canada; the Fugitive Slave Law states helping an escaped slave is in violation of the law. In this case, the jurors let the emancipators free for helping a slave escape slavery to Canada. Philosophy gives us the tools to analyze the legality of the juror s actions and answer the question Did the jurors in Morris do the right thing? Natural Law theory, Positivism, Legal Realism, Dworkin s neo natural law theory, and Butler s critical law theory all provide different outlooks to answering this question. All of these philopshers have differing beliefs of the role of morality and law. However, these philosophies all conclude in the answer the jurors in Morris, in fact, did the right thing. • 7. How Organizational Change Is The Transformation And... Examining organisational change, we can see that it is the transformation and development within an organization which includes the structure, work methods, or work culture. It is when people attain new behavior in order to adapt to their environment (Pullen, 1993). This occurs because there may be some adjustments which leave many businesses no choice but to change; for example, adjustments in consumer demands, legal factors, economy, and competitors. A major aspect which triggers change is organisational innovation. According to McWilliams (2013, p.111), innovation is being able to put into place new creative ideas. This results in an introduction of a dominant design; the most popular choice amongst customers. If the dominant design becomes a success, it may create a technological lockout, where companies may find it extremely strenuous to sell their products, or it may result in incremental change. Incremental change consists of improving the dominant design, and when the organization forms new ideas (innovate) on how to better improve and manufacture the product. Technology has a life cycle. Initially, a new technology is introduced and this is a result of organisational innovation. When the cycle concludes, technology is therefore replaced by a more up to date technology. According to McWilliams (2013, p.111), vast amounts of research were conducted to propose that many technology cycles are based on the S curve patthern of innovation . It is a model which depicts how new technology replaces old technology. The S curve can also be understood by innovation streams. Innovation streams go into further depth about the different stages the life cycles of technologies. As previously mentioned, it first starts off with technological discontinuity. Living in the 21st century, technology is constantly advancing at a rapid rate. • 12. Summary Of Rethinking Eating The article, Building a $325,000 Burger, talked about Dr. Post and his work on in vitro meat. His experiments are to make meat out of stem cell grown muscles. The idea for having in vitro meat has many positive aspects, for example, it supports animal welfare, covers environmental issues, greatly reduces water, land, and energy use, and emissions of methane and other greenhouse gases, compared with conventional raising of cattle or other livestock . Since this cultured meat is made through stem cells, the cells can turn into any kind of tissue. If someone wanted muscle tissue or neural tissue, then he or she can access it. Since this technology is fairly new and is undergoing development, it has not reached the hands of consumers as yet. Dr. Post plans on having a public display of taste testing the hamburger. He has already tried the meat in his lab and claimed that without any fat, the tissue tastes reasonably good . There are questions regarding safety and costs, however, whether this meat could affect our organs and make them weaker or indirectly harm in a way like alter DNA as red meat does, and whether this technology can improve enough to make the costs go down to produce in vitro meat. • 15. An Analysis Of The Media s Bias An Analysis of Bias in Media Bias by and within the media is subject to and motivated by a complex but predictable set of factors. These factors are both meaningful and measurable. Bias within the media is oftentimes thought of as simple and straightforward but this is not the case. While no ethnic group outright denies the existence of bias within major news outlets, whites feel it occurs less than blacks. Exceptions that conflict with this sentiment do exist, of course. As David Niven stated in his 2005 paper, certain powerful individuals are capable of making targeted allegations of bias that serve only to highlight a specific individual or socio political entity s style of thinking in this article instance, sports reporters were criticized by Rush Limbaugh for having more sympathy for black quarterbacks when they performed well. However, in cases like this one, the remark can be depicted as purely for publicity s sake rather than reporting. Blacks on the other hand have demonstrated a consistent level of doubt relating to the credibility of major news coverage, but with a drawback. As Beaudoin Thorson state in the 2005 paper, coverage of Blacks and black issues is viewed less favorably when presented with non black or low black sources. Blacks and black issues presented by or with a black source are viewed considerably more favorable. This topic of bias is in a near constant state of flux. While watching the movie, Dead Poets Society, we realize how important it is to have individuality and to not conform to everyone else s normal ways to live. The Dead Poets Society was filmed by Peter Weir in the year 1989, starring boys attending a preparatory school, who are being forced to ideas of conformity, not being able to have their own ideals, and dealing with their overbearing parents. Conformity is a huge deal back in 1959, you couldn t talk back to your teachers, your parents, or anyone for that matter. Conformity can have a negative undertone in school because students are supposed to be individual and should not have to be the same as everyone else. Students should be able to act how they want to be who they are. Children in school should be given their own opportunity to do what they please. • 20. Paul Laurence Dunbar We Wear Mask What does it mean to be a good poet? Who is a good poet? There is only one answer to these questions, and the answer is that a good poet is someone who can bring hidden and exciting emotions through their work and can make the readers feel exactly what they were trying to convey through words. Paul Laurence Dunbar is the best African American poet of the 19th century and early 20th century. His work leaves behind a legacy. Especially the poem We Wear Mask . The poem strongly conveys the struggle, the inner experience, and the humiliation of the African American community. Fighting against stereotypes. He suggests that they believed the people with power should see what they want them to see. They never expressed their true feelings. From the beginning, African Americans have been represented in a false way to the society. As Daly Guilamo emphasizes in his article Paul Laurence Dunbar and Juan Bosch Converse on Racial Violence: Writing Justice and Injustice that Paul Laurence Dunbar uses the guise of white American guilt to portray lynching as a racist tradition that is outdated and incompatible with modernism. (p. 22). Daly Guilamo article emphasizes about how people should have given them the respect they deserved even as slaves. Moreover, Dunbar knew that words are more powerful than any other thing in this world. Just as Joanne Gabbin, states in his article Intimate Intercessions in the Poetry of Paul Laurence Dunbar that the Biblical figure who helped to establish the Christian church, Dunbar took seriously his parents charge to be a great man who would carry the word to his people (p. 227). We wear the mask expresses every bit of expression that African Americans, slaves have felt. It contributes to cultural ideas and expectations to the society in the form of expression. • 23. This circuit diagram shows how a 555 timer IC is configured to function as a basic monostable multivibrator. A monostable multivibrator is a timing circuit that changes state once triggered, but returns to its original state after a certain time delay. It got its name from the fact that only one of its output states is stable. It is also known as a one shot . In this circuit, a negative pulse applied at pin 2 triggers an internal flip flop that turns off pin 7 s discharge transistor, allowing C1 to charge up through R1. At the same time, the flip flop brings the output (pin 3) level to high . When capacitor C1 as charged up to about 2/3 Vcc, the flip flop is triggered once again, this time making the pin 3 output low and turning on pin 7 s discharge transistor, which discharges C1 to ground. This circuit, in effect, produces a pulse at pin 3 whose width t is just the product of R1 and C1, i.e., t=R1C1. IR Transmission circuit is used to generate the modulated 36 kHz IR signal. The IC555 in the transmitter side is to generate 36 kHz square wave. Adjust the preset in the transmitter to get a 38 kHz ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Visual Analysis Essay On Bridget Riley There is a single gallery exhibition showing at the Art Institute of Chicago, presenting Bridget Riley s works. Gallery 294 is exhibiting three paintings and one installation in all. Riley is a British artist who dominantly engaged in a short lived art movement called Op Art in 1960s and since then she developed her works from abstract black and white paintings to colorful stripe paintings. Riley inherited the legacy of Abstract Expressionism. She used simple geometric shapes in her paintings and arouses viewers complicated sensations but also provides viewers virtually optical experiences. In Bridget Riley s works, an illusion of movement (and of volume) is engendered by the destabilization of a regular pattern and the continually confusing inversion of figure and ground. (Foster, 418) It is very explicit in Ascending and Descending Hero, which occupies the most conspicuous position in the gallery. The overall painting is symmetrically constituted by different sized black triangles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well, there are many reasons why; one, the company may use their uniform as part of their organization s colors. • 35. The Wrath Of God Vs. Big Brother The Wrath of God vs. Big Brother: Observational Effects of Cooperation in the Dictator Game (2000 words) General overview of plan A consistent finding within the paradigm of experimental games is that humans reward others who behave cooperatively and fairly (Gächter, Renner Sefton, 2008, Zimring, 1971) and often impose sanctions on those who fail to do so (Guala, 2012, Bankston Cramer, 1974). One potential means of implementing and maintaining fairness is through the maintenance of a cultural norm of fairness (Fehr Fischbacher, 2004). As human societies are often predicated repeated cooperative behaviours between genetically unrelated individuals (McKay, Efferson, Whitehouse Fehr, 2010) one possible explanation for large scale cooperation is through the reinforcement of behaviours that preserve social and moral standards and punishment of behaviours which are associated with norm violations (Carpenter, Matthews Ong ong a, 2004, Falk, Fehr Fischbacher, 2005, Hopfensitz Reuben 2009, Casari Luini 2012). One way of enforcing these norms is through the use of belief in supernatural agents (Ahmed Salas, 2008). It has been suggested by some researchers that individuals with a belief in a form of supernatural punishment can be used to promote prosocial behaviour (Norenzayan Shariff, 2008) and can be achieved via due to two possible proximate mechanisms. The characteristic of such market segments is quite straight forward, much resembles the characteristic of Tesla Motors itself. Under the new market outlook, however, it can hardly afford to ignore the lower income fan base which would have a huge positive promotional effect for Tesla brand. He learned from this because his cousin, King Eurystheus, made Hercules do another task because he did not manually remove the waste from the stables and he killed Augeas. • 41. Essay On Organ Donation Organ donation is when a person authorizes an organ or any biological tissue of the human body to be surgically remove while the donor is still alive or after death. Organs and tissues that are transplantable will be removed in a surgical procedure and will be determine if they are suitable and can be used for transplantation. An organ transplantation is a surgical procedure in which an organ is removed from the donor s body and placed in the recipient s body. Organ donor is someone who is giving an organ or tissue to the recipient who is in need of a transplant while the beneficiary of the organ that will be donated from the organ donor is called the recipient. There are two kinds of organ donation: living donation and deceased donation. Living donation is when the organ donor is still alive while deceased donation is when the donation takes place after death. Organ donation has been going on for centuries. The very first successful living donor transplant took five and a half hours at Brigham Hospital in Boston in December 23, 1954. The operation was led by Dr. Joseph Murray along with Dr. David. The first organ donor was Ronald Herrick. He donated one of his kidneys to his identical twin brother, Richard Herrick. Richard was dying from a chronic nephritis, an inflammation of the kidneys. As a matter of fact, Ronald was a living related donor. That means the organ comes from a blood relative such as parent, brother or sister. Later on, the successful operation led Dr. ... • 42. Social Pressure In Randall Jarrell s The Ball Turret Gunner People s opinions can be changed or influenced by social pressure. We are swayed by our peers, the media and by advertising. We are surrounded by something or someone telling us what is the newest fashion, the latest social trend and even what is considered attractive. These social pressures succeed because the need to conform is an innate instinct that increases survivability in a social environment. This conforming to social pressure is not bad or wrong; however, the implications of what can happen when we become overly agreeable are troubling. Studies have been conducted and poems have been written about our instinct to conform and how it could affect the future. Solomon E. Asch, a social psychologist, conducted one of these studies. The experiments, which examined a person s responses when faced with social pressure, consisted of a group of people that were shown two cards: one with one line drawn on it and another card with 3 or more lines drawn on it. The subjects were to respond which line on the second card was the same length of the line on the first card. However, not all of the participants were actual subjects. Some were told ahead of time to give an incorrect answer and for the others to follow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jarrell s poem is about a ball turret gunner for a military unit during a war. The gunner describes himself as being asleep his whole life until he gets killed by an enemy plane. What this means is that, from the day he was born, he did what he was told and obeyed the government (the State ). The last line of the poem states, When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose. This line is significant because it implies that the gunner s sacrifice of his life for the State was meaningless, as if he were just another product on an assembly line. His reward for conforming to the State s wishes was an early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Essay about Cooperative Learning Cooperative Learning During the weekend I spent learning about the theories and structures of cooperative learning, I was captivated by five components of cooperative learning. I intend to use these five in my own classroom. They begin with the introduction games Pleased to Meet You and Knotting Acquaintance followed by the creation of base groups and finally STAD and TGT. These are five basic, yet exciting ways to use cooperative groups in the classroom. I will use the first two introduction games at the start of the school year, because students are nervous about the start of school and these games are great for breaking the ice. I would start with the pleased to meet you form. This gets students talking amongst one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I like the base group because it gives the students a home. The base groups help open the door to getting the cooperative learning going. The length of time that the base groups will stay together depends on the climate in the classroom. If I have selected well and the groups have been successful I might be inclined to let them work together up to the midpoint of the school year. The base groups will merely serve as a home. Depending on the activity the class is doing I will use ad hoc groups and Formal learning groups. In the Formal learning groups, as well as in the ad hoc and the base groups, I will employ two types of group activities the STAD system and the TGT system. The Student Team Achievement System (STAD) is a five part system with proven effectiveness in Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science. The groups are set up heterogeneously and presented with new material. The next step is to have the learners practice the material within their group. It is the responsibility of the group to be sure all group members have received the information and have a clear understanding of it. Once the groups have had sufficient time to practice, the teacher gives the students individual quizzes. The quizzes are scored and the learners earn points for their group. The points earned by the group members are based on their level of improvement over their base score; their average score on the previous quizzes. The base score could also be established by ... • 44. Lab Report Of Freezing Point Of Cyclohexanol Jacob Winter Chem 101 103 11/7/16 Freezing Point Depression Introduction: The purpose of this lab experiment is to calculate the change in the freezing point of cyclohexanol and a solution made with cyclohexanol to find the molar mass of the unknown solute. The colligative properties of solutions are based on the concentration of molecules rather than the identity of the chemical. Freezing point, a colligative property of a solution, is constant in any substance and does not rely on the amount given. For any solution composted of two or more components, there is one solvent and one or more solutes. The major amount is the solvent and the minor amounts are the solutes. When solutes are dissolved in solvents, the solution s freezing point is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be accounted for in the sample of cyclohexanol. The experiment must have had a contaminated sample of cyclohexanol, rather than a pure sample. This accounts for the difference in the experimental values and the actual values. Conclusion: By demonstrating the application of a colligative property of a solution, the change in freezing point observed between the cyclohexanol and the solution with the cyclohexanol as the solvent can be used to calculate the unknown solute s molar mass. The data in the lab was graphed and shown in the cooling curve. Bases off the data on the graph, the freezing points are shown where the temperature remains constant. Using the freezing points, the difference of freezing point was calculated. The molality of solution was calculated in the lab using the molar mass of the unknown solution from the given previous data. The data in the lab showed the molar mass of the unknown solute to be off from the given molar mass in the lab. This can be explained through contamination. Theoretically, it was learned that by calculating the freezing point of an unknown substance, it can be identified. The lab showed important techniques in using a graph ... • 45. A Summary Of The Cherokee Tribe History of Traditions Overdriving Biological Patterns The Cherokee Tribe is among the more popularly known Native American tribes in the United States. They are mainly remembered for their fight against the U.S. government and the Supreme Court and their forced migration in the Trail of Tears. However, as mentioned by North Carolina Digital History and Robert Conley, because of their written language, many of their traditions and history is well known and taught in schools as an example of Native American culture (10.2 and 105). Michael D. Green and Theda Perdure introduce Cherokee history in the book, The Cherokee Removal: A Brief History with Documents. The tribe originally inhabited southeast North America in what is currently Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, and into northern Georgia and Alabama 1). From 1836 to 1839 the Cherokee Tribe was forcibly and harshly removed and relocated in Oklahoma in what is known as The Trail of Tears (Green 160) Throughout all the changes the Cherokee had to undergo as they lost their traditional land and home, they were able to keep their traditions, rituals, and ceremonies and some, such as the dance and medicine use, are still practiced today. Traditions and rituals are repeated over and over, year after year. For an event to have this much significance in a society it must have been important from the time it began. As Miller Williams, a poet from 1930 2015, said, Ritual is important to us as human beings. It ties us to our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Why Might Different Pressure Groups Use Different Methods... Why might different pressure groups use different methods in their methods in their attempts to influence government . Pressure groups are groups of like minded individuals who come together on the basis of shared interests or a commonly held cause in order to put pressure on policy makers at Westminster and beyond. Pressure groups are significantly more numerous than political parties because whereas the parties tend to aggregate and accommodate a wide range of views in an effort to see their candidate elected to public off, pressure groups have a tendency to fragment opinion. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It starts from the premise that conventional methods of influencing policy are flawed and that more visible and direct protests, perhaps even involving civil disobedience, illegal methods or violence, may offer the best opportunity of success because they attract media attention, raise public awareness and force politicians to sit up and listen. Although many feel that direction action techniques provide the most immediate way of articulating their views and achieving tangible results, critics argue that the rise in single issue, direct action politics undermines our system of representative democracy. This is because such campaigns prevent governments from implementing their programmes and from pursuing policies that address the bigger picture. The scope and scale of direct action campaigns has increased significantly since the 1990s. The anti roads protests of recent years, the campaign against live animal exports, the campaigns against fox hunting and vivisection, the fuel protests and the campaigns by groups such as Fathers4Justice and environmental groups such as Greenpeace and Plane Stupid have al been seen to have had some effect on policy or opinion. Precisely how effective individual pressure groups are is often hard to gauge not least because many core insider groups prefer not to publicise the extent of their influence, for fear of alienating the government and losing their privileged status. • 49. Essay On Man s Search For Meaning A prominent quote in the bible comes from John 8:13 and states, The truth will set you free . According to this, knowing the truth will free one from the prison of falsehood, and yet the truth is often accompanied by some form of suffering. Knowing the truth will free someone from the lie they are living, but it may not be a life they wish to be freed from. In difficult situations, people often rely on illusion and live in denial as a way to survive, due to the truth being too difficult to accept. In order to find meaning in one s life while suffering or experiencing a difficult situation, meaning is often found in illusions and false hoods, rather than in reality. Frankl used this illusion to ignore the reality of what he was suffering from in order to find meaning and be able to survive. If one were to fixate on the horrors of the reality he was living, he would be unable to see a future outside the camp and therefore a reason to live, ultimately resulting in his demise. The idea of using illusion to escape the horrors of reality is depicted by Cypher in The Matrix. Cypher had been awoken by Morpheus and reborn into the real world outside the Matrix.
