Listening To Music Analysis
For many years we as individuals and as a society have created and listened to various forms of music.
Initially there are two ways in which music can be introduced into one s life. The first initiation is
through listening to music. This can then be followed by the second initiation which is playing music.
Through these initiations people are able to remember music and do not need the external influence
because of memory. For example, if someone likes Mozart, they do not need to actually listen to the
music because they can hear it in their own mind. The memory of music can never be fully taken
away, not even from someone who has become deaf. Music has been used as a means of expression,
and a way to convey feelings and emotions such as love, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people have turned to exercise, better sleep habits, and their friends and families to try to reduce
stress (ADAA). Listening to music is the best and safest way to reduce stress. Many people turn to
drugs and alcohol when they are stressed. These forms of stress reducers can be very harmful to the
body. For example, if someone is stressed and decides to smoke marijuana before they drive to work,
there is impairment to the mind of the driver causing them to possibly crash. Instead of this person
turning to drugs while driving, they can turn on music to reduce their stress on the way to work. When
people listens to enjoyable music, they are able to forget about the stressful situations that are
occurring in their life. Many are able to put themselves in another state of mind when listening to
music. An altered state of mind is not as attainable through any other means. I have a personal
experience with this type of stress reduction. Whenever I am feeling stressed about an exam, or an
essay that is critical for my grade in a class, I listen to music to calm me down. When I listen to music,
I forget about the task at hand and focus on the words of the song. When I am done listening to music
I am much more productive and able to focus better on studying and writing. Many other people have
told me they also experience the same benefits I do with stress reduction through music. Some people
may enjoy hardcore, loud and aggressive music which can make them angry, agitated and antisocial.
This can cause stress in their life because they are being influenced by the aggressive nature of the
music. However, the majority of people who listen to music, do so with the intention of being soothed
rather than being affected by a stress causing agent. This is obvious based on the many interactions I
have had with others who appreciate listening to music. When listening to enjoyable music

Essay: Circle of Faith In Action
Through the story of the king and the sparrow, we come to realize the implications that social justice
has on a community. In following the circle of faith in action, we realize the king became aware,
analyzed, and acted only after his death. The circle of faith in action began with the king s awareness
of his people s suffering, then he analyzed his options to help, finally he acted by removing his jewels
to help those in need. Although the king directly supported those in need through monetary donations,
he effectively neglected their long term needs to survive. In relation to the story of the king, American
society and culture can be used as a counterpoint to such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From America s beginning, it has never been a respectful society; be it Native Americans, the poor, or
minorities, America has always trampled upon their rights. America only respects power and wealth
the two usually go hand and hand for it is through power that profit can be made. America is known
for several controversies regarding respect for its inhabitants over its relatively short history; although
these controversies have ended, there remains much contempt for those who struggled. America s poor
seem to be afflicted by a de facto sense of poverty, in that their homes, educational opportunities, and
employment follow and circular pattern of failure. Americans depose those with a background of
poverty, seeing them as virtually useless for the betterment of the nation. Through the nation s ideals,
America has become a disrespectful country, favoring only those who can contribute .
In conclusion, America seems to be at war with itself and its inhabitants at all times, a seeming
paradox, in which the nation is torn between justice and injustice. To have justice in America, one
usually thinks of being generous, the real solution is to be aware of the suffering of others. In terms of
respect America seems to be lacking; the disrespect of America seems to be a manifestation of our
own problems. Harvard Medical School psychiatry professor Alvin Poussaint takes it one step further,
I think it s a

Agricultural Extension Practices For A Farming Community
The previous chapter reviewed the agricultural extension practices where extension plays an important
role in facilitating changes in a farming community. The literature indicated that there are a lot of
extension approaches due to change of ideas, purposes vary, and paradigm shift. It appears that,
agricultural extension involves many different approaches and methodologies. And it is managed and
delivered through a variety of institutional arrangements. It seems that no single approach best suit
extension development in all circumstances.
The purpose of this chapter is to consider farming from the perspective of the farmer and how such
consideration might benefit extension approaches and outcomes. The farming environment is complex

Nevertheless, after the introduction, the chapter begins by clarifying what kind of farmers this study
refers to by defining smallholder farmer, elements of smallholder, and the farming environment as to
understand and identify some key variables in farming environment that will enhance our
investigation of farmers livelihood.
4.1 Introduction
This chapter identifies various factors that affect farmers decision making concerning their way of life.
The sustainable livelihoods approach (SLA) is a way to improve understanding of the way of life of
rural people (IFAD, 2011). It draws on the main factors (internal and external) that affect rural people
s livelihoods and the natural relationships between these factors. SLA is based on the concept of
capability, equity and sustainability (Chambers Conway, 1992).This study seeks to consider SLA as a
framework to help understand the main factors that affect cocoa farmers livelihoods, the relationships
between these factors and how decisions are made on growing cocoa.
In this chapter the diffusion of innovation model, particularly the variables which influences an
innovation s rate of adoption (after Rogers, 2003), and elements of smallholder farmer by HLPE
(2013) (see Figure 11) will be viewed through SLA. The commonly known variables determining the
rate of technology adoption in agriculture were listed by Rogers (2003). These variables include

European Union s Foreign Policy
Introduction
Many authors over several decades have made an attempt to conceptualize and analyze European
Union s Foreign policy. Some interpret the policy to be an ongoing puzzle , emerging from the
distinction of either being a derivative policy of a common Union, or being a policy of cooperation
amongst the independent EU member states, while the others consider the policy area to be a
moveable feast in a state of constant flux . (Christiansen Tonra, 2005) (Smith H. , 2002) . There are
even those academicians who presume that European Union does not have a foreign policy as it is not
a sovereign institution, but is a common negotiation body institutionalized by the member states in
order to formulate certain mutually favorable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the GOALS Means End approach is an essential element of an international policy actor (Tocci ,
2007). Through a series of official and legal arrangements, EU under the Maastricht Treaty
declarations in 1992, outlined a set of five Foreign Policy objectives submitted under the Joint Action
of Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) . Further in 2003, the European Council agreed on a
a European Security Strategy (ESS) comprising of three core strategies: addressing security threats;
enhancing security in the EU s neighbourhood ; and creating an international order based on effective
multilateralism .
Arnold Wolfers, an eminent theorist of International Relations in 1962 advanced a theory, outlining
the differences amongst state policies pressing for preservation of POSESSION GOALS against the
ones putting efforts to reach the MILIEU GOALS . (Wolfers, 1962) The policies drafted to enhance or
preserve the national possessions such as the territory, citizenship, etc. reflect the possessive nature of
selfish states. In contrast, the policies drafted to shape the environment of the state or in our case, the
EU in order to provide stabilizing conditions beyond the borders with a positive sum game for all,
reflects the milieu goal policies.

Hollywood Is Falling Essay
Hollywood is Falling
In 1946, Hollywood reached its highest attendance peak and was having one of its most successful
years. The silver screen was growing in numbers, sales, and was reaching a multitude of cinematic
achievements. They were at the top of the film industry and they believed they were indestructible.
Unbeknown to them, Hollywood was going to face some major issues that would result in their
untimely downfall.
Hollywood, after World War II, had high hopes that their business would blossom even further once
the doors opened in the foreign market trade. Hollywood was dominating the nation and they believed
their films would soon dominate the world. However, their calculations were off and they did not take
into account that foreign cinemas were in serious trouble. In other countries, the cinemas had to shut
down or many were destroyed in the war. The foreign film market was slowly rebuilding itself and
was focused on financially stabilizing its business. Then, when American movies started pouring into
their countries, the foreign cinemas had to place tariffs and restrictions on box office revenues being
sent to America. And they even had to place quotas on the amount of American films shown in foreign
theaters. This caused Hollywood to take a major hit financially. There were little to no profits earned
from the foreign market and Hollywood began to slowly decline. Overseas markets may have punched
the gut of Hollywood, but it was nothing compared to the

Organization Strategy and Human Resources
An organizational strategy is the creation, implementation and evaluation of decisions within an

Occupational Therapy Vs Family Systems Model
The foundation of everything falls into the therapist parent/caregiver relationship. The occupational
therapist has to build a strong relationship with the parent/ caregiver to get their trust and support for
the services they are going to provide to their child (Brown Stoffel, 2011). The two have to work
together for the child to get the most benefits from the therapy. Although in some aspects the
occupational therapist may know what is best for the child, they have to be able to respect and take
into consideration the parents feelings and desires. The caregiver/parent also has to be observant of the
child s actions at home to be able to tell the therapist if they believe the interventions are helping the
child (Brown Stoffel, 2011). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

routine becomes a ritual for the family in which they all have a specific role in (Brown Stoffel, 2011).
When a routine is set, it is best if the occupational therapist can complete the therapy session within
the daily routine. If the appointment is scheduled outside of the routine, this can cause the balance to

Temujin s ability to unify these radically polar people was the jumping off point in the reign and
legacy of the Mongol empire. His sheer capability and practices were then engrained into successors
that was most impressive. The Mongolian Empire speedily conquered staggering amounts of land in
only a finite amount of time, but their most imposing obstacle was finding a way to govern these
foreign lands. Genghis Khan was the first to integrate the Mongols into these societies, and with their
expert military skills, they overthrew surrounding nations and captured their lands. Genghis knew that
he couldn t adopt an umbrella policy for vastly differing nations, so the Mongols who occupied each

Meanings Are Transmitted Throughferred On By...
Whatever the implications of poems are, its meanings are transmitted throughferred on by
significations and undertones as well as by the writer s game plan of words into expressions,
conditions, and sentences to accomplish specific impacts. The organization of words into significant
verbal arrangements is called sentence structure or syntax. An artist can control the sentence structure
of a line to place stress on a word. This is particularly clear when a writer changes the typical word
order (Weaver, 2014). Word Choice When constructing a poem, the author is very careful in the choice
of words they may use and how they arrange those words. The author/poet uses word tools such as
tone, diction (formal and informal), colloquialism, , denotations and connotations, and whatever
jargons were used during the author specific timeframe. Tone Tone is the author s demeanor toward
the subject, the state of mind made by the greater part of the components that are within the poem.
Composing, similar to dialog, can be portrayed as genuine or light, miserable or glad, private or open,
furious or tender, sharp or nostalgic, or by whatever other states of mind and sentiments that
individuals experience (Weaver, 2014). Diction Like every good writer, poets are distinctly mindful of
lingual authority, their decision of words they utilize. Writers pick words particularly painstakingly on
the grounds that the words in their poems may point to themselves. Poems are generally less lengthy

Voltaire and The Enlightenment
The eighteenth century was a crucial changing point in the European history because of The
Enlightenment. The Enlightenment was revolutionary because of Voltaire, a writer that used his ideas
to attack the established Catholic Church, and to propagate the freedom of religion, scientific
thoughts, skepticism and experiential philosophy.
Voltaire was born in 1694, a year that was under the regiment of Louis XIV. At that time, the
aristocracy ruled France in an extreme way that most commoners were struggling in poverty. From a
middle class family, Voltaire did not like the political environment of France and the aristocratic
system. As a well educated and intelligent student from the college of Louis le Grand, he became a
secretary for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By this storyline, Voltaire wanted to tell the French aristocracy that they did not have any heritage.
Once they were expelled from their current positions, they needed to live as commoners, or maybe
suffered more because they had never done anything in the castle.
Even though Candide was expelled, he was still very happy because he always believed in optimistic
philosophy. He learnt the philosophy from his teacher, Panloss, a parody of the contemporary
philosophers in the seventeenth century that always argued about the metaphysics, which had no use
in the real world. Also, the optimism was a satire from the philosophy of Leibniz, a popular
philosopher around that time. The optimism was widely used in the Christian churches to tell people
that life was always full of happiness because the perfect God created the world. Human beings
suffered in the world because they did not see the greater purpose from God. The sufferings were only
trials and in the end the human being would still deserve ultimate happiness. After the Lisbon s
earthquake, which killed more than 30,000 people, many of who died because they were just praying
to the God without actually doing anything, Voltaire was very angry about the situation that the priests
in the church did not help people, but led them to sit in the church and pray. Therefore, he wanted to
attack this philosophy, so in Candide he described the horrible

Biblical Worldview Model
A Biblical world worldview is how a Bible believing Christian ought to see the world. The basic
components that make up a biblical world view are well to start the Bible is God breathed and
therefore has ultimate authority and is fully true. The Bible gives believers some clear cut commands
that should be used in developing ones worldview. But the Bible also gives believers to form many of
their own opinions that they can make using their personal worldview with the Bible engrained in it.
For example, the Bible clearly states that Jesus lived a sinless life. Therefore, he is the standard that
Christians should strive to imitate (with a lot of God s grace). The Bible also clearly says that there is
only one true God. So a believer should not

all knew him as a genius with a lot of knowledge. As it was said earlier, he was asked to become the

The Patient Protection Affordable Care Act Of 2010
Individual Mandate a provision of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.

Public policy is a system of laws, regulatory measures, a course of action by which a government
maintains order or addresses the needs of its citizens through actions defined by its constitution. The
Patient Protection Affordable Care Act is a great example of the power vested in the government to
establish laws that will assist in health care reform to provide coverage for many. The PPACA was
signed into law in March 2010 by President Barak Obama. This act represents a major adjusting of the
health care system in the United States. The Act affirms that everybody should have some basic
security when it comes to their health care. There have been many debates and questions of the
constitutionally of the health care law. The issue of the individual mandate is one that was highly
debated and objected by many. The individual mandate requires that all individuals to purchase some
minimally insurance policy or pay a penalty. Many feel that such a policy represents a fundamental
threat to liberty and an unprecedented leap of power by the federal government and clearly
unconstitutional. On June 28, 2012, in a 5 to 4 ruling the Supreme Court upheld that President Obama
s health care overhaul, indicating that it s a requirement that most Americans obtain insurance or pay a

Veterans Day Research Paper
Whether it is in an office, on a battlefield, or at a switchboard, it takes a hero to be a veteran. Bravery
and patriotism are characteristics of veterans. Veterans Day was created to honor all people who have
served, fought, and died for our country and our freedom. People who served in the military and gave
their services, risked their lives, and lost their lives for us are all veterans: They deserve our thanks.
When people think of veterans, a word that might come to their mind would be hero. Soldiers leave
their homes, families, and friends to fight for our country and the freedom we believe in so strongly. If
a brother, cousin, uncle, or friend gets killed during a battle, veterans keep going. They need to wait
until a later time to grieve, cry, and mourn their lost companions. Soldiers endure loss, blistering cold,
scorching heat, trench foot, and more. This is what makes up a true hero. ... Show more content on

soldiers and civilians. It takes bravery to live through that. Years later, when veterans are safely home,

When young men and women enlist in the armed forces, they know the dangers they face. They still
enlist and are willing to risk their lives for the freedom of their country because they believe. They
feel proud. Soldiers leave home, go overseas, fight for our country, and either die bravely or come

The Day the Music Died
The day the music died was February 3, 1959. On that day three great Rock and Roll artist, Buddy
Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. Richardson, died in a tragic plane accident near Clear Lake, Iowa. This
day would mark the end of an era, because those men were the last of a revolution in music that
changed the world. After their death there would not be another true Rock and Roll phenomenon until
the British invasion with the Beatles in 1964. Buddy Holly was only twenty two years old on that

An Example Of Perseverance In Warriors Don T Cry
How many times in life have you struggled but got through a difficult time? That is called
perseverance. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or
delay in achieving success. Synonyms are persistence and determination. It originated from the latin
word perseverare. Right now the world has been filled with natural disasters, from hurricanes to
wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere through it because there is not
much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In all of the nonfiction literature we have
read there were many different examples of perseverance from many different people. I decided to
choose three. For my first example Melba Pattillo Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous
examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing something despite difficulty. For the second example of
perseverance I chose Maya Angelou. Through her life there were countless times that she was faced
adversity and still achieved success. My third example is Earl Simmons (DMX) from the book
E.A.R.L . He went through a tough time at almost all time growing up and he never gave up and
achieved success. Perseverance creates success; therefore, when you stick through something you can
accomplish what you want. In the book Warriors Don t Cry Melba Pattillo Beals and the rest of the
Little Rock 9 were faced with racism as they were trying to go to a all white school. They all had

Essay On Assessing Competency
Assessing Competency In order for a defendant to plead guilty, he or she must understand the
circumstances and consequences of their plea. They must understand that if they put in a guilty plea,
they are agreeing with the fact that they did the crime. Depending on how gruesome the crime is that
was committed the attorney and judge can send the defendant out for a psych evaluation. Once at the
psych evaluation the psychologist will ask the accused a series of questions. The doctor will look at
the accused past and current situation to help understand more about the patient. The psychiatrist will
help the court understand if a person is fit to stand trial. Everyone wants to know if the accused is
capable of making decisions on his behalf.
Every person being accused is considered competent unless it can be proven otherwise. Until that is
proven, the case will be treated as a normal case. If the defendant is found incompetent to stand trial
there will be further testing done; and the trial or court proceedings may be put on hold. If found
incompetent the patient will not be able to understand what s being discussed. He or she won t be able

The noun allegory can be a piece of literature or art that unveils a hidden value such as a moral or

We commonly overlook or forget the morals that were hidden in some of our favorite childhood tales.

Summary Of Twelve By Alexander Blok
Peace, land, and bread ; the battle cry for the country during the Russian Revolution. With this in
mind, in the early 1900s, a rebellion swept through one of the biggest empires in Asia. This revolution
was unparalleled event in modern history (History: The Russian Revolution). Nonetheless, the
historical background of this time period can be displayed in various forms. In this case, Twelve by
Alexander Blok, is a poem that reflects the Russian Revolution and the struggles in that time period.
Moreover, the text takes place throughout a night and ironically begins at twelve midnight. During the
Russian Revolution, a lot of political and economic struggles plagued one of the biggest empires
(History: The Russian Revolution). Twelve fabricates the appropriate figurative language to correlate
with the historical facts of the revolutions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alexander Blok makes use of juxtaposition to compare the revolution in Russia to how Russia was
before. To specify, black night, white snow was included to reveal contrast and set up the scene for the
poem (Blok 1). Setting the scene for the poem in this way allowed Blok to evidently display how
contrasting these two settings are. The black night expounds the dark cloud that was the revolution
and the white snow connotes how Russia was before everything derailed. Hence, setting the correct
scene for the twelfth hour in Russia and everything that occurred. To illustrate, the Russian Revolution
was a groundbreaking event that shaped modern history...World War I provided the catalyst for the
revolution in Russia (The Russian Revolution). World War I, was the catalyst which increased to the
detriment of the revolution. The way the Russian Revolution swept through the country was very
detrimental and changed Russia drastically. Therefore, juxtaposition exposes the transformation of
Russia and connects the text to the

They built various temples for many of their gods, but only the two most honored had a temple at the
top of the Templo Mayor, meaning temple major, which was located at the center of Tenochtitlan. The
astounding pyramid was built in 1325 to honor the sun god Huitzilopochtli and the rain god Tlaloc
(Ancient 1). The Templo Mayor is believed to have been around 300 ft. high with two temples at it s
peak for their gods (McDowell 768). The Aztecs built many other pyramids with a temple at the top,
but the factor that determined an important pyramid was if the pyramid had a roof made of wooden
beams forming a point (Morgan 15). The average Aztec temple was approximately 200 ft. that rose in
terraces with a broad stairway leading to the top (Morgan 15). Art for the Aztecs was a way to honor
their gods, and for their own aesthetic pleasure. The artisans would organize themselves into guilds
based on what they were skilled in. Through metalwork, the Aztecs would make metal objects by
beating thin pieces of gold, silver, or copper, or they would make ornaments and jewelry by pouring

Doctors will biopsy, measure and test tumors to discover whether or not it is malignant or benign (

  • 2. Listening To Music Analysis For many years we as individuals and as a society have created and listened to various forms of music. Initially there are two ways in which music can be introduced into one s life. The first initiation is through listening to music. This can then be followed by the second initiation which is playing music. Through these initiations people are able to remember music and do not need the external influence because of memory. For example, if someone likes Mozart, they do not need to actually listen to the music because they can hear it in their own mind. The memory of music can never be fully taken away, not even from someone who has become deaf. Music has been used as a means of expression, and a way to convey feelings and emotions such as love, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many people have turned to exercise, better sleep habits, and their friends and families to try to reduce stress (ADAA). Listening to music is the best and safest way to reduce stress. Many people turn to drugs and alcohol when they are stressed. These forms of stress reducers can be very harmful to the body. For example, if someone is stressed and decides to smoke marijuana before they drive to work, there is impairment to the mind of the driver causing them to possibly crash. Instead of this person turning to drugs while driving, they can turn on music to reduce their stress on the way to work. When people listens to enjoyable music, they are able to forget about the stressful situations that are occurring in their life. Many are able to put themselves in another state of mind when listening to music. An altered state of mind is not as attainable through any other means. I have a personal experience with this type of stress reduction. Whenever I am feeling stressed about an exam, or an essay that is critical for my grade in a class, I listen to music to calm me down. When I listen to music, I forget about the task at hand and focus on the words of the song. When I am done listening to music I am much more productive and able to focus better on studying and writing. Many other people have told me they also experience the same benefits I do with stress reduction through music. Some people may enjoy hardcore, loud and aggressive music which can make them angry, agitated and antisocial. This can cause stress in their life because they are being influenced by the aggressive nature of the music. However, the majority of people who listen to music, do so with the intention of being soothed rather than being affected by a stress causing agent. This is obvious based on the many interactions I have had with others who appreciate listening to music. When listening to enjoyable music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Circle of Faith in Action 12/8/09 Christian Service Learning Essay: Circle of Faith In Action Through the story of the king and the sparrow, we come to realize the implications that social justice has on a community. In following the circle of faith in action, we realize the king became aware, analyzed, and acted only after his death. The circle of faith in action began with the king s awareness of his people s suffering, then he analyzed his options to help, finally he acted by removing his jewels to help those in need. Although the king directly supported those in need through monetary donations, he effectively neglected their long term needs to survive. In relation to the story of the king, American society and culture can be used as a counterpoint to such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From America s beginning, it has never been a respectful society; be it Native Americans, the poor, or minorities, America has always trampled upon their rights. America only respects power and wealth the two usually go hand and hand for it is through power that profit can be made. America is known for several controversies regarding respect for its inhabitants over its relatively short history; although these controversies have ended, there remains much contempt for those who struggled. America s poor seem to be afflicted by a de facto sense of poverty, in that their homes, educational opportunities, and employment follow and circular pattern of failure. Americans depose those with a background of poverty, seeing them as virtually useless for the betterment of the nation. Through the nation s ideals, America has become a disrespectful country, favoring only those who can contribute . In conclusion, America seems to be at war with itself and its inhabitants at all times, a seeming paradox, in which the nation is torn between justice and injustice. To have justice in America, one usually thinks of being generous, the real solution is to be aware of the suffering of others. In terms of respect America seems to be lacking; the disrespect of America seems to be a manifestation of our own problems. Harvard Medical School psychiatry professor Alvin Poussaint takes it one step further, I think it s a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Agricultural Extension Practices For A Farming Community The previous chapter reviewed the agricultural extension practices where extension plays an important role in facilitating changes in a farming community. The literature indicated that there are a lot of extension approaches due to change of ideas, purposes vary, and paradigm shift. It appears that, agricultural extension involves many different approaches and methodologies. And it is managed and delivered through a variety of institutional arrangements. It seems that no single approach best suit extension development in all circumstances. The purpose of this chapter is to consider farming from the perspective of the farmer and how such consideration might benefit extension approaches and outcomes. The farming environment is complex and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, after the introduction, the chapter begins by clarifying what kind of farmers this study refers to by defining smallholder farmer, elements of smallholder, and the farming environment as to understand and identify some key variables in farming environment that will enhance our investigation of farmers livelihood. 4.1 Introduction This chapter identifies various factors that affect farmers decision making concerning their way of life. The sustainable livelihoods approach (SLA) is a way to improve understanding of the way of life of rural people (IFAD, 2011). It draws on the main factors (internal and external) that affect rural people s livelihoods and the natural relationships between these factors. SLA is based on the concept of capability, equity and sustainability (Chambers Conway, 1992).This study seeks to consider SLA as a framework to help understand the main factors that affect cocoa farmers livelihoods, the relationships between these factors and how decisions are made on growing cocoa. In this chapter the diffusion of innovation model, particularly the variables which influences an innovation s rate of adoption (after Rogers, 2003), and elements of smallholder farmer by HLPE (2013) (see Figure 11) will be viewed through SLA. The commonly known variables determining the rate of technology adoption in agriculture were listed by Rogers (2003). These variables include perceived attributes of ... • 6. European Union s Foreign Policy Introduction Many authors over several decades have made an attempt to conceptualize and analyze European Union s Foreign policy. Some interpret the policy to be an ongoing puzzle , emerging from the distinction of either being a derivative policy of a common Union, or being a policy of cooperation amongst the independent EU member states, while the others consider the policy area to be a moveable feast in a state of constant flux . (Christiansen Tonra, 2005) (Smith H. , 2002) . There are even those academicians who presume that European Union does not have a foreign policy as it is not a sovereign institution, but is a common negotiation body institutionalized by the member states in order to formulate certain mutually favorable ... Through a series of official and legal arrangements, EU under the Maastricht Treaty declarations in 1992, outlined a set of five Foreign Policy objectives submitted under the Joint Action of Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) . In other countries, the cinemas had to shut down or many were destroyed in the war. The foreign film market was slowly rebuilding itself and was focused on financially stabilizing its business. Then, when American movies started pouring into their countries, the foreign cinemas had to place tariffs and restrictions on box office revenues being sent to America. And they even had to place quotas on the amount of American films shown in foreign theaters. This caused Hollywood to take a major hit financially. There were little to no profits earned from the foreign market and Hollywood began to slowly decline. Overseas markets may have punched the gut of Hollywood, but it was nothing compared to the ... Whatever the implications of poems are, its meanings are transmitted throughferred on by significations and undertones as well as by the writer s game plan of words into expressions, conditions, and sentences to accomplish specific impacts. The organization of words into significant verbal arrangements is called sentence structure or syntax. An artist can control the sentence structure of a line to place stress on a word. This is particularly clear when a writer changes the typical word order (Weaver, 2014). Word Choice When constructing a poem, the author is very careful in the choice of words they may use and how they arrange those words. The author/poet uses word tools such as tone, diction (formal and informal), colloquialism, , denotations and connotations, and whatever jargons were used during the author specific timeframe. Tone Tone is the author s demeanor toward the subject, the state of mind made by the greater part of the components that are within the poem. Composing, similar to dialog, can be portrayed as genuine or light, miserable or glad, private or open, furious or tender, sharp or nostalgic, or by whatever other states of mind and sentiments that individuals experience (Weaver, 2014). • 27. An Example Of Perseverance In Warriors Don T Cry How many times in life have you struggled but got through a difficult time? That is called perseverance. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Synonyms are persistence and determination. It originated from the latin word perseverare. Right now the world has been filled with natural disasters, from hurricanes to wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere through it because there is not much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In all of the nonfiction literature we have read there were many different examples of perseverance from many different people. I decided to choose three. For my first example Melba Pattillo Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing something despite difficulty. For the second example of perseverance I chose Maya Angelou. Through her life there were countless times that she was faced adversity and still achieved success.
