Comparing Gilgamesh, Noah And The Ark
Did you know that in 2011, over eight billion dollars of damage was caused by floods in the US
alone? Floods occur often all over the world. These natural disasters can happen anywhere, at any
time, with or without rainfall. Ancient Mesopotamia created an epic with Gilgamesh, Noah and the
Ark is a story from the Hebrew culture, and the story of Deucalion came from Greek mythology.
These cultures have created flood stories that share many similarities, but have their own unique
characteristics. There are many similar things with the origin and preparation of each flood story. In
each story, a god is angered by the corruption and evil nature of mankind. In each tale, all men had
become bad, and all men were at war with each other. In Noah s Ark, Yahweh is angered, and warns
Noah about the flood that is coming. In the epic of Gilgamesh, Enlil is an angered god, whilst Ea
warns Utnapishtim of the upcoming flood. Zeus is an angered god in the story of Deucalion;
Prometheus, Utnapishtim s father, warns Utnapishtim of Zeus s planned flood. Each man plans to
build an ark. Noah and Utnapishtim is instructed on the size of the ark, but Deucalion was not

wives were to repopulate the land. The earth took many months to dry in Noah s Ark, while in the

repopulate the earth. In Deucalion, he and his wife were to throw stones behind their backs to create
new people. Each stone that Deucalion threw became a man, and each stone Pyrrha threw became a

Banyan Tree’S Success Has Been A Great Case For Entrepreneurs
Banyan Tree s success has been a great case for entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry to study. With
the genius ideas that had been put successfully into practices by Banyan Tree CEO Ho Kwon Ping, the
company had made a dramatically transformation that had become a phenomenon at that time. This
essay will briefly investigate deeply into business strategy applied by the Banyan Tree that had
affected the core focus of the company, as well as discussing if the same strategies used in the hyper
dynamic hospitality industry today, would they be as successful or would new strategies need to be
employed.

Stephanie s Near-Death Experience
To this day, Stephanie still remembers the moment she was eye to eye with a gun barrel. Having a gun
pointed straight between her eyes, knowing her life could end in a second was a spine chilling
moment. An ordinary September day took a turn when she was met by a nefarious criminal on her way
home from work. The day she came close to death changed her whole perspective on life, making her
a more watchful and cautious person. Every event in one s life shapes them; however, when life s at
stake, it changes everything. Stephanie s near death experience changed her. It was a pleasant fall
Tuesday when Stephanie went to work. Her day normal consisted of writing reports, and filing
paperwork for her office. She turned on the television to see if there was anything alluring in the news.
NEWS FLASH: MAN CONVICTED OF MURDER HAS ESCAPED PRISON. The warning did not
phase her, considering the jail was far from her office. She concluded that she was safe. By four o
clock, it was time for her to travel home from a laborious day of work. She arranged her things into
her bag, and began her trek. Walking out the door, she was met with warm rays from the sun. It was an

she managed to stand up. Consequently, she realized her mistake when he had a gun pointed towards

The Power To Change The Ordinary Village
The Power to Change the Ordinary Village One of the people who influenced Gabriel Garcia Marquez
writing in the young age was his grandmother. He spent a lot of his childhood life listing to her
magical, superstitious and supernatural view of reality (Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Biography 2012).In
his short story, The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World, Marquez uses Magical Realism to
illustrate how, even an unknown, drowned man can have influence on a community. In the Magical
Realism story, the reader is introduced to the irreducible element, something we cannot explain
according to the laws of the universe (Faris, 2004, p. 7). Then the reader experiences Unsettling

Eye Anatomy Poster
Eye Anatomy Posters Explaining Our Body s Cameras
By Stephen Lamb
Oct 4, 2009
The human eye is nature s version of a camera, yet so much more complex than a camera that all its
functions require years of study to understand. For example, within the layers of the retina
immediately behind the lens, light impulses are converted into electrical signals which proceed
through the optic nerve to the occipital cortex at the back of the brain, where they are translated .
Healthy eyes see in 20/20 vision. That is, standing 20 feet away from an eye chart a series of symbols,
or images, printed on a page people with 20/20 vision can see everything a normal eye can see, normal
being based on the average visual acuity of a majority of the population. ... Show more content on

Defects in the shape of the lens, or inadequate filling of the vitreous humor, can result in inadequate
vision. Age and disease also play their part in reducing human vision. Thus, perfect vision at birth may
require correction as early as grade school, and will almost certainly require correction by the age of
retirement.
Ophthalmologists, or eye doctors, can help patients understand the need for corrective lenses or
surgery by using an Eye Anatomy Poster, whose central figure is a cut away view of the right eye
which depicts everything from the rods and cones (specialized structures in the eye the retina uses to
process light) to more esoteric items like the canal of Schlemm or scleral venous sinus, a circular
channel that collects fluid from the anterior chamber and sends it to the bloodstream.
With its diagram of the visible light spectrum, and a dissection of the structures of the eyeball, this
detailed chart makes it easier to see how the sight of a flower, for example, passes through the retina
to the optic nerve and is interpreted by the brain for our enjoyment, edification and

The Battle Of Yorktown By George Washington
The Battle of Yorktown is known as the battle that separated the United States from Great Brittan. The
purpose of this paper is that I will discuss the events that led up to the battle, the battle itself, the
outcome, and a specific event that, if changed, might have changed the outcome of the war. There are
multiple events that may have changed the outcome; within this paper I will discuss one, and that will
be, what if George Washington s diversionary orders didn t deceive the British. On September 28,
1781 General George Washington started his siege on Yorktown, where the British General Lord
Charles Cornwallis garrisoned his 9,000 troops. Those actions are just the final steps that won the
battle and solidified the United States as an independent nation. The real beginning of the Battle of
Yorktown started in August of 1781 when the French army led by French Commander, the Comte de
Rochambeau, convinced General Washington to attack Yorktown instead of New York. The Comte de
Rochambeau Stated to General Washington, that if he was to attack New York that they would suffer a
great deal of casualties due to the British s well fortification of the area and that the attack wouldn t
succeed. General Washington was convinced by his ally s concern, so on August 19, 1781 the French
and United States Continental Army Began their march to Yorktown in order to crush Lord Charles
Cornwallis and his recent string of victories. General Washington wanted the element of surprise when

Franchising Is A Long Term Essay
Nowadays, franchising is one of the easiest ways to start a business. Franchising is defined as a long
term, continuing business relationship wherein for consideration, the franchisor grants to the franchise
a licensed right, subject to agreed requirements and restrictions, to condusct business utilising the
trade and/or service marks of the franchisor and also provides to the franchisee advice and assistance
in organising, merchandising, and managing the business conducted to the licensee 1. The
company granting these rights in deemed the franchisor, the receiver of these rights the franchisee, and
the right is defined as the franchise. The franchiser owns a trademark or brand, which he (or she)
agrees to allow the franchisee to use for a fee (often an original purchase price plus a percentage of
sales). The franchiser provides the franchisee with assistance (financial, choice of site, and so on) in
setting up their operation, and then maintains continuing control over various aspects of the franchisee
s business; for example, via the supply of products, discussion of their marketing plans and/or
centralized staff training 2.
The franchising arrangement may be viewed as an agency relationship in which the franchisor
(principal) is reliant upon franchisees (agents) to undertake actions on their behalf 3. Franchising
organizations differ from other business, based on three important points 4 are:
1. Geographic dispersal of organizations units
2. Replication across

Core Values Of My Life
Friedman reading lists many core values, but the ones that are most important to me and have
influenced me the most include: Physical Fitness, Creativity, Enjoyment, and Family. Physical fitness
means, staying in shape through physical activity and healthy nutrition. This has always been a big
part of my life. In my childhood I incorporated physical activity through different activities my mother
would sign me up for such as, swimming, roller staking, and dancing. As I got older my main physical
activity was dance, I grew to love it and it helped me stay in shape. Along, with this though I always
tried to eat a healthy diet because my family has a history of high blood pressure. Being physically fit
influenced me to make healthy choices and break away from my family s history of health problems.
It also, lead me to healthier eating choices now and more physical activity through other sports such as
kickboxing which also builds disciple leading to a more organized lifestyle and doing better in school
because of it.
Furthermore, physical fitness led to creativity, which is another major influence in my life. Creativity
according to Friedman is discovering, developing, or designing new ideas or things; demonstrating
imagination. As I mentioned previously, physical fitness has been a big part of my life, most of all this
consisted dance. My mother s love for dance was passed on to me and through this I learned creativity.
I have been dancing for almost fourteen years and I have picked up many different techniques. Being a
dancer involves a lot of creativity because you need to be able to learn new styles and create your own
dances using these styles. My creativity in dance followed through to the classrooms I ve sat in. It has
allowed me to think outside of the box and get creative with class projects and with work. Often times
my friends come to me when they want new idea s or a different view on projects they are working on
and it feels great that I am able to help them. Another value that has greatly impacted my life is
enjoyment. Enjoyment is fun, joy, and laughter. Without this my life would dull and unfulfilled. My
friends bring me enjoyment every day. It keeps me happy and wanting to learn and do new

California Irrigation System Analysis
Water drainer
With an everlasting reputation of droughts, California has caused their citizens to struggle through
their droughts in exchange of money. Peaking at 34 billion dollars in revenue in 2013, California
means business when it comes to agriculture. California is in fact the largest agricultural producing
state in meaning a large amount of water from the state is going towards irrigation systems. As a
result, the amount of land and water used has a huge impact towards the state of California physically.
If California s agriculture business continues as it is now, the little amount of ground water they have
will cease sooner than it should naturally. By creating a new irrigation system for farmers, the state
can have more water to use for citizens and allow their aquifers to rest.
Irrigation systems account for 70% of water usage in the world. By creating a new irrigation system
for agriculture, the system will be focusing on using as little water necessary per plant. Farming uses a
large amount of unnecessary water per plant as their current system lacks efficiency. The typical
irrigation system, flood irrigation, is one of the most common irrigation systems used despite being
one of the oldest. The problem with this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advancements Of The Early Modern Period Medicine
It is difficult to decide whether the developments, inventions and discoveries of the Early Modern
Period contributed to European power or whether it contributed to European progress. The reason this
is, is because in the case of Europe, especially in this time period, power and progress seemed to go
hand in hand. In the case of discovery the countries that had the most power led the way in
discovering new land, it was this curiosity in expanding power that led to the progress of new worlds
and opportunities. The invention of the printing press contributed to providing knowledge and
therefore an aspect of power to people who did not have it beforehand and it was the progress of
medicines and sciences that ensured not only the power and superiority of European knowledge but
also the ability to progress to the next level of knowledge.
From the beginnings of the Early Modern Period medicine was essentially summed up in high
mortality rates and the notion that men and women were two completely different people
anatomically, treatments were largely herbal and the type of doctor you went to see depended on what
was wrong with you and if you could afford them . Attaining and preserving a state of health,
therefore, required balance, and that equilibrium was inherently elusive and easily forfeited .
However, while there was some progress in this field throughout the period it was not as drastic as one
would expect, the Galenic body of the four humours was still a dominant

Analysis Of The Book Gulliver s Travels Essay
In his book, Gulliver s Travels, it is hard to miss the various references that its author, Johnathan
Swift, makes concerning bodily functions. Yet, this is more than the bawdy, juvenile toilet humor one
would encounter in a cheeky T.V. show for it has a literary purpose. Scatology is used to define the
literary trope of the grotesque body. Through the realist perspective, Swift employs scatology to both
shock and attract. He uses it to draw attention to Gulliver s humanity, and normalize the strangeness of
the lands Gulliver visits. By successfully employing elements of the scatological to enhance his novel,
Swift manages to create a novel that has both realist aesthetic and the fantastical grotesque. As a result
of the grotesque simply being an exaggeration of reality, Swift by exaggerating the role of bodily
functions highlights makes a private subject public and creates a common thread with his audience.
Realism in the context of literature, is defined by the Carson Newman College as any artistic or
literary portrayal of life in a faithful, accurate manner, unclouded by false ideals, literary conventions,
or misplaced aesthetic glorification and beautification of the world. It is a theory or tendency in
writing to depict events in human life in a matter of fact, straightforward manner. It is an attempt to
reflect life as it actually is. The scatological elements that Swift employs are also present across other
artistic forms such as poetry and paintings, and they

JOHN COLTRANE S AND MILES DAVIS INFLUENCE ON JAZZ
Introduction
In the 1960s, numerous jazz musical performers, for example, Ornette, Sun, Mingus, and Dolphy,
extended the limits of their music in terms of organization, rhythm, congruity, beat, and composition.
They separated customary traditional methods and changed to newer techniques that were not heard of
before. They also improved the intensity and brought more prominent freedoms concerning the length
of time, substance, and structure of performances. The subsequent music was given numerous names:
free jazz, vanguard, the new thing. Avant Garde jazz was one of the result of these diversification of
jazz from the traditional forms with John Coltrane playing a major role for its inception.
John Coltrane was an incomparable jazz artist of the late 20th century whose move from dedicated
traditionalist to drastic creator of new forms made him a prominent stylist in jazz (Deveaux Giddins,
n.d.). He was born in September 23, 1926 in Hamlet, North ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The introduction of the rock aspect into jazz captured the attention of every audience. As a result,
Davis impact on jazz fusion came to light in the 1970 s through his double jazz album bitches brew
which was released in April by Columbia records (Griffin Washington, 2013). In the album, Davis
experimented with electric musical instruments such as the electric piano and guitar in addition to the

How Energy Plays A Vital Role As A Catalyst For Economic...
Introduction Energy plays a vital role as a catalyst for economic growth and high standard of living. It
is a fundamental input for all sectors, fuelling transport and providing electricity to industry,
commerce, and agriculture. Yet access to energy remains an elusive goal for approximately 1.5 billion
people worldwide (International Energy Agency, 2009). Given energy s importance in promoting
economic growth, governments tend to assist the energy industry through policies that support
research and development, provide low interest loans, and deliver subsidies to producers and or
consumers. The Global Subsidies Initiative estimated that global subsidies to fossil fuel producers
were approximately $100 billion in 2009 (Global Subsidies Initiative, 2009). Coady et al. (2010)
estimated that consumer subsidies for petroleum products amounted to $57 billion, globally, in 2003,
$519 billion in 2008, and $136 billion in 2009. Subsidies often reduce production costs, make energy
affordable to consumers, and encourage development of new supply sources. Policies involving
subsidies often have intended goals to address market failures or respond to social and distributional
objectives. According to Komives et al. (2007), government support in the form of a subsidy can be
critical for ensuring access to modern energy services, including electricity for the poorest, thereby
enhancing societal welfare. Although these support programs are used to improve the standard of

Woman At Point Zero Analysis
In Nawal El Saadawi s book Woman at Point Zero and a Hausa story from northern Nigeria called
Yamira, Atafa, and the King have both main characters that go through the a similar childhood
obstacle, even though Saadawi s book is about a real woman while the Nigerian story is on a fictional
character. The technique of masculinity is presented in various stories, such as Yamira, Atafa, and the
King and Saadawi s book Woman at Point Zero, which are further analyzed in this essay, which not
only state what is definition of a masculine man but also shows how men standards influence the way
society looks upon woman, which creates the ideal woman.

proves that Yamira is confident enough and that he is going to do all he can to marry this girl. Also this
scene display the power of Yamira, for being a boy/man along for being a prince, that he can arrange a

do what men want them to, especially in older times when tradition was important to the society.
Marriage is an example of what young girls in Africa and around the world have to experience
because of traditions. In the article The Negative Consequences of Dowry Payment on Women and
Society by Emily Onyango, the author mentions that young girls are not only forced into marriage but
they are seen as property. When women are treated as property, they have no dignity... This means that
parents will not give the girls education, but marry them off instead (Onyango 3). All of the dreams of
a girl can t be accomplish because they forced into marriage for money. However, a boy can get his
education and move on in life because of his gender.

The Role Of Independent And Non Medical Prescribing
The Role of Independent and Non Medical Prescribing: Prescribing is defined and the process
involving information gathering, clinical decision making, communication and evaluation which then
results in the initiation, continuation or cessation of medication/s. Independent prescribing means that
the prescriber takes responsibility for the clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of patients.

The following is a time line of the UK history of non medical prescribers and the factors influencing
its development. Prescribing in Australia is authorised by individual state and territory legislations that
deal with drugs and poisons. These legislations allow various levels of health professionals to
administer/supply medications under an assortment of protocols or direct order agreements. Any
prescriber must also follow processes that have been determined by their professional bodies, which is
legally binding in Australia. Legally, prescribers must also maintain all confidentiality and privacy
clauses. Also, the patient s health and wellbeing should be the focus of all decision making so that no
harm should come to the patient. The knowledge and skills obtained from the required training should
be used to optimise patient s health. Ethics of prescribing in Australia is a philosophy of clinical
practice that follows the following four principles the form the main framework for ethical decision

Biography Of Samuel F. B. Morse
In 1836, Samuel F. B. Morse created Morse Code, a method of transmitting text information as a

graduated from Yale in 1810 and studied painting in England afterwards. Morse s painting style was
considered romantic and he flourished in the art field. Morse co founded the National Academy of

MAPLE LEAF CONSUMER FOODS FIXING HOT DOGS (A)
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Maple Leaf Foods (MLF), a result of many mergers and amalgamations, has been in Canada for over
100 years. Its operations focus on three core areas: meat products, agribusiness and bakery products.
The meat product group is the largest, with sales to about $2.5 billion in 2000. Each business is made
up of independent operating companies (IOCs), with each IOC run by a president and encouraged to
follow a common set of values. Efforts are underway to optimize vertical coordination of the IOCs. A
major concern for the meat product division is the loss of market share in the hot dog industry where
average price per kilo is increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
RESULTS OF SITUATION ANALYSIS
MLF is losing market share due to proliferation of unsuccessful brands such as _Beef Dogs_, _Lean n
Lite_ and _Burns_. Having too many brands has spread corporate resources thin and has underutilized
the Maple Leaf brand name leading to lack of a national identity of their hot dog segment,
productivity problems and rising costs, both operational and production.
THE ALTERNATIVES THEIR ANALYSIS
ALTERNATIVE 1: _Eliminate poor performing hot dog brands and re allocate the funds associated
with them to existing brands that are doing well in order to increase their sales._
The hot dogs that we are trying to improve sales for are: _Hygrade_, _Maple Leaf Originals_, _Top
Dogs_ and _Shopsy s_. This option involves reformulating _Top Dogs_ to make it taste better and
provide value for the consumers, without trying to make it a national brand. MLF will increase market
research in order to gain vital information to help properly position this brand in each of the different
regions. MLF can borrow money from other, more profitable IOCs

Split Sisters and Split Personalities of Goblin Market Essay
Split Sisters and Split Personalities of Goblin Market
I have 50 different personalities, and still I m lonely (Amos). Perhaps everyone is truly composed of
multiple personalities embodied within one whole. Whether these split personalities are actual or
purely metaphorical, no one human being has a single sided mind, and a single sided position on
everything. Within the brain many battles are raged between opposing sides of issues, between the
personalities. Goblin Market is one of Christina Rosetti s sister poems, a form in which she used
sisters to represent different aspects of the split personality that was caused by conflicting attitudes
and mixed emotions towards love (Bellas 66). The two opposing young sides of ... Show more content

sister, unafraid to hold back her feelings. In two of the first lines involving the sisters these
personalities are developed. In response to the goblin men Lizzie veiled her blushes a modest gesture,
hiding her femininity. Laura, however, bowed her head to hear. The initial impression is of modesty
from the act of bowing her head, yet a curiosity is displayed because she bows her head to hear. Lizzie
then tells Laura that she should not peep at goblin men. This warning seems parroted in response. A

Homeless Problem Essay
Homeless problem is easier to solve than to manage (Malcolm Gladwell). It is so difficult to find a
good answer for this issue, but the most moral solution for the homeless problem is to give them a free
apartment and take care of them, if they have injuries, like mental illness or addictions. This is a good
resolution because they need something to start with a new life, and this solution is a good way for a
new beginning, as they don t own a home and neither money to buy food. Even though giving a free
apartment to the homeless could seem unfair to those citizens who are working every day and don t
own so much money to live, these citizens have to think about the lack of possibilities the homeless
have living in the streets, a Care issue. So what it would be done is that they will share an apartment
with the essential needs to live and with a weekly review for their health. At the beginning care issue
is more important than fair because homeless people don t have anything to start with, so they can t
find work with their appearance, as the bosses look for people who appears good and have a stable
situation. But care issue is only temporally more important than ... Show more content on

And the final ones, are the chronically homeless, who are living for a year or more, most of them old

the ones who really need help and must have someone who takes care of them, as they have nowhere

why humans inhabit this planet, and in many ways people get lost trying to find the answer. Now in

Challenges Faced By The Crowd Funding
CROWD FUNDING As a young Indian, I always want India to be filled with people of new
innovative, creative and productive ideas and thoughts. And I strongly believe that if these thoughts
can be made into actions with the advancements in Information technology, it can heal India s soaring
problems like unemployment, illiteracy to an extent. But recent reports on India s ease of doing
business rankings is very alarming. Even after 20 years of economic reforms, India slipped from 131st
position in 2013 to 134th position in 2014.Among BRICS countries, India is doing the worst. And
among the issues faced by Small, Medium Enterprises which includes startups, credit issues is a main
concern. In a recent secondary research done by me in finding credit issues of SMEs, results showed
that out of all SMEs, 92.77% have no finance or self finance. This has really affected the growth of
SMEs in India. Even after increase in number of venture capitalists/angel investors to protect new

Progression of Black Masculinity
Nearly every decade consists of at least one film that helps to define the development of a generation.
The film is able to paint a clear enough picture that not only captures the cultural aspects of the
generation but also portrays the social implications and complexities associated with the environment
the culture thrives in. In regards to the genre of hip hop and rap and its relationship with black life and
urban imagery for example, Cooley High may be representative for a generation that was in their 20 s
during the debut of the movie. The next generation of the 1980 s would most likely be able to
understand the interworking s of the movie Krush Groove whereas the generation of the 1990 s would
more than likely link themselves to such films as New Jack City and Juice. These films depicting the
rise of black boys to black men were in rarity during their debut and because of the popular actors and
underlining themes in them have had a significant long lasting impact on people of color as well as
young white Americans that have been somewhat interested in the everyday struggle of their inner city
counterparts. Through a careful analysis of films such as Krush Groove depicting black life in the
1980 s to the urban imagery displayed in the 1990 s movies of Juice and New Jack City the
progression of the portrayal of young black males can be observed as well as the difference in
viewpoints on black humanity, and stereotypes. Minorities have overcome significant hurdles in the

Everywhere you go you see perfect people. You read a magazine and on every page you see those

Moreover, the people on the television are perfect too. The people you see are not real anymore. This

picture increases drastically.
Are all these people born so perfect? Or did they cheat with cosmetic surgery? Of course there are

Cosmetic surgery is, for a lot of women, an aid to increase their self esteem. They see cosmetic
surgery as the ultimate way to improve their self image. Cosmetic surgery is also used to enhance the

more surgeons and nurses to be able to meet the demand. And of course the right to do what you want
with your body is a reason to go to the cosmetic surgeon. But cosmetic surgery also knows a dark side.
An operation is never without any risks. Cosmetic surgery can cause serious damage to your body.
Besides, you lose your own identity after using cosmetic surgery. Your own identifying mark is being
removed and replaced by a more common identifying mark. Also the costs of cosmetic surgery are
very high. For most people it is too expensive, so they negotiate a loan. The high costs make cosmetic
surgery a mean for rich people to improve their appearance. And of course we need to wonder if
cosmetic surgery is a good way to make you happy. It is much better to love yourself for who you are,
because only then also other people can love you for who you are. After all for everyone exists the

Analysis Of Latinos And The American Dream By Linda Chavez
Opportunities in America are limited for minorities, yet even more so for the Hispanic population. The
American view on what Hispanic people are like are severely one sided due to the media often
portraying them as poor and as criminals. Discrimination has held the Hispanic community back from
advancing in society compared to other minorities. Hispanics and the American Dream, written by
Linda Chavez, lays out the internal issues that exist within the Hispanic community and how that
affects their progress in American society.
The Hispanic population in America has reached more than twenty one million and is constantly
growing, yet they continue to face constant discrimination and are widely perceived as the drugs of
society. (Chavez, Pg. 57) Chavez declares that Hispanic advocates focus more on the idea of their
community s suppression rather than highlight how Latinos contribute to American society and their
admirable efforts in reaching such feats. Research has shown that the words Hispanic or Latino
occurred in close connection with the word poverty in more than eighteen hundred stories found in
print media. (Chavez, Pg. 58) Out of all the Hispanic groups in America, Mexican Americans have the

How Can Anthropogenic Climate Change Affects Children
The social problem I chose to research is anthropogenic climate change, primarily focusing on how it
will effect children. The reason I chose this topic is because it s a great concern to me and the future of
our planet. It s almost unbelievable how large industries can be so neglectful to the effects climate
change is having on Earth. I often think about how the generations of the future will deal with the
damage our generation and previous generations have caused to our atmosphere. There is also the
question if they will even be able to adapt, or recover from these extreme changes. This problem needs
to be addressed now rather than later. The longer we wait the more damage is done to the atmosphere,
which results in even greater hardship for future generations. The research composed in this paper
covers what climate change is, how it is currently effecting us and how it will affect us in the future.

The Sea Of The Mediterranean Sea
The Mediterranean Sea is the largest enclosed sea in the world, surrounded by Europe, Africa, and
Asia the most populated region of the globe. It is connected to the Atlantic Ocean by the Strait of
Gibraltar which separates Spain from Africa, a distance of 8.9 miles. The sea has an average depth of
4,900 feet, but the deepest point is in the Calypso Deep in the Ionian Deep, having recorded 17,280
feet. It is bordered by 25 coastlines and is split into seven subdivisions of which are the Aegean,
Adriatic, Ionian, Tyrrhenian, Ligurian, Balearic, and Alboran seas. It also contains a shallow
submarine ridge (Strait of Sicily) between Sicily and Tunisia, dividing the sea into two main sub
regions the Eastern and Western Mediterranean. It has an annual temperature of 19 degrees Celsius,
but waters located near the warmer regions (I.E. Africa) can reach up to 26 degrees Celsius in the
summer. The Mediterranean is characterized by its deep blue color which derives from its warm
temperatures and higher salt production due to mass evaporation. It is known to have hot, dry
summers and wet winters except for the Southern regions considering they have desert like climates.
Early civilizations thought that the Mediterranean was the center of their region considering they had
not traveled out of their boundaries yet, therefore giving its Latin name mediterraneus , meaning

Theory Of Constraint Technique Is The Elimination Of Idle...
Another Theory of Constraint technique is the elimination of idle time. For whatever reason, idle time
is also present in bottleneck resources. For instance, all employees may have a break at the same time
leading to no performance during the bottleneck process. Short breaks may have a high opportunity
costs since the bottleneck have a constraint effect on the entire plant output. Thus, elimination of such
idle time may improve a factory s output. As a TOC technique, scheduling and sequencing involve the

Goldratt indicated that there is always a constraint and that the fourth step is the centre for continuous
improvement. Goldratt, indicated that an allusion of no constraints would be an indication of infinite
performance which is not possible in real life. Under normal circumstance project managers get more
resources after realising that there is a resource constraint in the system (Srinivasan, 2012). But the
TOC indicates that a project manager should strive to achieve the highest performance from the
available resources before getting additional constraint resources. It is evident that the moment that a
constraint is elevated adequately, it stops to be a constraint and the bottleneck changes within the
system (Lau Kong, n.d.). TOC also uses a thinking process, this is an administration tool used for
understanding where the organisation is positioned, what is seeks to be and how it plans to get there.

Response To Naturalism
Aquinas s Response to Naturalism
Introduction
In this paper, I will do three things: (1) summarize an overview of what naturalism is by detailing its
history and illustrating it with the views of characteristic thinkers, (2) explain what is known as
Aquinas s Thomist Law and finally (3) discuss whether or not Thomist Law commits the naturalistic
fallacy.
1 What Is Naturalism?
Naturalism can be best summed up as a philosophical methodology as opposed to doctrine that abides
by these three characteristics:
1. Philosophy should regard the methods of science quite seriously.
2. When a philosophical claim and a scientific claim of equal strength conflict with each other, the
scientific claim wins out.
3. Philosophical and scientific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The procreation and the education of offspring ought to be pursued.Ibid, 245.
3. Humans goods are those goods to which humans have natural inclinations (i.e. to know the truth
about God and the achievement of societal harmony).Ibid, 154.
2.2 Kinds of Law
There are four different kinds of law in Aquinas s moral framework. I described above, in detailing the
types of reasoning that exist in Aquinas s thought, the underlying mechanisms behind Natural Law,
which is just one strain of Thomist Law. Besides Natural Law, there is Eternal Law, Divine Law, and
Natural Law.
Eternal Law details the structure of the cosmos: it is concerned with the ineffable and intangible divine
qualities that transcend human experience and pervade throughout the universe.
Natural Law cooperates with Eternal Law, in that living by the Natural Law Aquinas s belief that man
ought to and is inclined toward pursuing good and avoiding evil confers participation in Eternal Law
and, hence, the divine.
Human Law is what dictates legal systems, and is entirely man made for the practical day to day
regulations of society. It is conventional and possesses no ontological meaning, but it can be just by
way of agreeing with Natural Law as its logical

Great Depression And The Great Recession
The Great Depression and the Great Recession are two of the darkest times in American history. There
is much debate about the cause of the Great Depression and how it differed from the cause of the
Great Recession. Many people believe that the stock market crash of 1929 played a major role the
Great Depression. On the other hand, the stock market crash of 2008 drove America into the Great
Recession. The causes of stock market crashes are often unforeseen, but many have detectable
indicators. There are many differences between the 1929 stock market crash and the 2008 stock
market crash, but we can learn more from the similarities between the two. The credit boom of the
1920 s is one of the things that contributed most to the stock market crash on 1929 and then the
eventual cause of the Great Depression. We find that the credit boom view provides a useful
perspective on both the boom of the 1920s and the subsequent slump. In particular, it directs attention
to the role played by the structure of the financial sector and the interaction of finance and innovation.
(Eichengreen) As many people know today, having a credit card and going shopping without realizing
exactly how a credit card works can put the user in a tough situation. After a person puts something on
credit they must pay it back at a later date. In the 1920 s the credit boom was where people had started
to use credit more frequently and were getting carried away with the idea of credit. People putting

The Cycle Of Socialization ( C.o )
1) Define describe the Cycle of Socialization (C.O.S), the Cycle of Liberation (C.O.L). Explain how
they relate to how Hip Hop has been shaped, giving two examples from either reading and/or in class.
The Cycle of Socialization is the cycle in which shapes who we are mentally, morally, and
characteristically. The first step in the COS, is the Lens of Identity. This is where the person is
socialized through their own personal lens, or they are taught on a personal level. Examples of this is
one s peers, teachers, or family. There is usually unquestionable trust in these people. The second step
is Institution Culture, where we are bombarded with subliminal messages by these two factors each
day. Institution, would be things such as School, a Business, or the Media (one of the largest in the
institution factor). Culture, would be things like what we have done in class, such as studying lyrics,
language, patterns of conscious and unconscious though. The last step, is the Lens of Experience. This
is one of the most important, because we have now become experienced in life, and know many things
that many may not ever know. With this though, we have two choices of what we can do. The first
choice, is to do nothing; we can remain stagnant, and go a long to get along because that is the easier
way to do things. Or, we can cause change, raise consciousness, and interrupt the stagnant problem
help with fixing it. When we do this though, it leads into the next cycle,

Mortal Motherhood In The Iliad
It is difficult to reconcile the image of Thetis as a powerful goddess capable of disrupting the cosmic
order1 with her presentation throughout the Iliad as a grief stricken, helpless mother. Indeed, due to
her reiterated mourning in regards to the mortality of her son, the grief experienced by Thetis presents
her as more debilitated than the other gods and goddesses. Epithets such as blessed 2 and living
easily3 describe gods and scenes like the wounding of Aphrodite4 seem parodic,5 which further
emphasis the distance between mortals and immortals. Thetis is set between this distance, as an
immortal goddess having begotten a mortal son, for whom she fully experiences the painful reality of
mortal motherhood. Similarly, another god experiences

He laughed, and strolled over to the source of the noise. Several Kikwi had been pinned under a large
log they d been hoisting into place. Link squatted down and pulled the log up, allowing the small
rodent like creatures to escape. When the Kikwi had offered to help him build a small cabin, Link
accepted their gracious offer. They were hard workers, yet they tended to be a little clumsy at times.
Thanks for the help guys, but I think that ll be all for today. He said, and the Kikwi scurried off. He
meandered into the small living area that had been built, and sat down on one of the few hide covered
chairs scattered about. A flash of blonde hair popped out from behind the door frame, and Link smiled.
He rather enjoyed Zelda s company, especially after a grueling day of work. The Kikwi had built her a
cabin too, however it had been finished long before Link s. He d insisted they finish hers before even
thinking about building one for him. What happened? I heard screaming. Zelda asked. Link shook his
head. It was just the Kikwi. A few got pinned under a log. They re fine. Zelda nodded and sat down

Eye Anatomy Poster Eye Anatomy Posters Explaining Our Body s Cameras By Stephen Lamb Oct 4, 2009 The human eye is nature s version of a camera, yet so much more complex than a camera that all its functions require years of study to understand. Healthy eyes see in 20/20 vision. On September 28, 1781 General George Washington started his siege on Yorktown, where the British General Lord Charles Cornwallis garrisoned his 9,000 troops. Those actions are just the final steps that won the battle and solidified the United States as an independent nation. The real beginning of the Battle of Yorktown started in August of 1781 when the French army led by French Commander, the Comte de Rochambeau, convinced General Washington to attack Yorktown instead of New York. The Comte de Rochambeau Stated to General Washington, that if he was to attack New York that they would suffer a great deal of casualties due to the British s well fortification of the area and that the attack wouldn t succeed. • 18. Advancements Of The Early Modern Period Medicine It is difficult to decide whether the developments, inventions and discoveries of the Early Modern Period contributed to European power or whether it contributed to European progress. The reason this is, is because in the case of Europe, especially in this time period, power and progress seemed to go hand in hand. In the case of discovery the countries that had the most power led the way in discovering new land, it was this curiosity in expanding power that led to the progress of new worlds and opportunities. The invention of the printing press contributed to providing knowledge and therefore an aspect of power to people who did not have it beforehand and it was the progress of medicines and sciences that ensured not only the power and superiority of European knowledge but also the ability to progress to the next level of knowledge. From the beginnings of the Early Modern Period medicine was essentially summed up in high mortality rates and the notion that men and women were two completely different people anatomically, treatments were largely herbal and the type of doctor you went to see depended on what was wrong with you and if you could afford them . Attaining and preserving a state of health, therefore, required balance, and that equilibrium was inherently elusive and easily forfeited . • 19. Analysis Of The Book Gulliver s Travels Essay In his book, Gulliver s Travels, it is hard to miss the various references that its author, Johnathan Swift, makes concerning bodily functions. Yet, this is more than the bawdy, juvenile toilet humor one would encounter in a cheeky T.V. show for it has a literary purpose. Scatology is used to define the literary trope of the grotesque body. Through the realist perspective, Swift employs scatology to both shock and attract. He uses it to draw attention to Gulliver s humanity, and normalize the strangeness of the lands Gulliver visits. By successfully employing elements of the scatological to enhance his novel, Swift manages to create a novel that has both realist aesthetic and the fantastical grotesque. As a result of the grotesque simply being an exaggeration of reality, Swift by exaggerating the role of bodily functions highlights makes a private subject public and creates a common thread with his audience. Realism in the context of literature, is defined by the Carson Newman College as any artistic or literary portrayal of life in a faithful, accurate manner, unclouded by false ideals, literary conventions, or misplaced aesthetic glorification and beautification of the world. It is a theory or tendency in writing to depict events in human life in a matter of fact, straightforward manner. It is an attempt to reflect life as it actually is. John Davis Influence On Jazz Student s name: Instructor: Institutional affiliation: JOHN COLTRANE S AND MILES DAVIS INFLUENCE ON JAZZ Introduction In the 1960s, numerous jazz musical performers, for example, Ornette, Sun, Mingus, and Dolphy, extended the limits of their music in terms of organization, rhythm, congruity, beat, and composition. They separated customary traditional methods and changed to newer techniques that were not heard of before. They also improved the intensity and brought more prominent freedoms concerning the length of time, substance, and structure of performances. The subsequent music was given numerous names: free jazz, vanguard, the new thing. Avant Garde jazz was one of the result of these diversification of jazz from the traditional forms with John Coltrane playing a major role for its inception. John Coltrane was an incomparable jazz artist of the late 20th century whose move from dedicated traditionalist to drastic creator of new forms made him a prominent stylist in jazz (Deveaux Giddins, n.d.). Given energy s importance in promoting economic growth, governments tend to assist the energy industry through policies that support research and development, provide low interest loans, and deliver subsidies to producers and or consumers. The Global Subsidies Initiative estimated that global subsidies to fossil fuel producers were approximately $100 billion in 2009 (Global Subsidies Initiative, 2009). Coady et al. (2010) estimated that consumer subsidies for petroleum products amounted to $57 billion, globally, in 2003, $519 billion in 2008, and $136 billion in 2009. Subsidies often reduce production costs, make energy affordable to consumers, and encourage development of new supply sources. Policies involving subsidies often have intended goals to address market failures or respond to social and distributional objectives. According to Komives et al. (2007), government support in the form of a subsidy can be critical for ensuring access to modern energy services, including electricity for the poorest, thereby enhancing societal welfare. Naturalism can be best summed up as a philosophical methodology as opposed to doctrine that abides by these three characteristics: 1. There is much debate about the cause of the Great Depression and how it differed from the cause of the Great Recession. Many people believe that the stock market crash of 1929 played a major role the Great Depression. On the other hand, the stock market crash of 2008 drove America into the Great Recession. The causes of stock market crashes are often unforeseen, but many have detectable indicators. There are many differences between the 1929 stock market crash and the 2008 stock market crash, but we can learn more from the similarities between the two. The credit boom of the 1920 s is one of the things that contributed most to the stock market crash on 1929 and then the eventual cause of the Great Depression. Institution, would be things such as School, a Business, or the Media (one of the largest in the institution factor). Culture, would be things like what we have done in class, such as studying lyrics, language, patterns of conscious and unconscious though. The last step, is the Lens of Experience. This is one of the most important, because we have now become experienced in life, and know many things that many may not ever know. With this though, we have two choices of what we can do. The first choice, is to do nothing; we can remain stagnant, and go a long to get along because that is the easier way to do things. Or, we can cause change, raise consciousness, and interrupt the stagnant problem help with fixing it. When we do this though, it leads into the next cycle, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Mortal Motherhood In The Iliad It is difficult to reconcile the image of Thetis as a powerful goddess capable of disrupting the cosmic order1 with her presentation throughout the Iliad as a grief stricken, helpless mother. Indeed, due to her reiterated mourning in regards to the mortality of her son, the grief experienced by Thetis presents her as more debilitated than the other gods and goddesses. Epithets such as blessed 2 and living easily3 describe gods and scenes like the wounding of Aphrodite4 seem parodic,5 which further emphasis the distance between mortals and immortals. Thetis is set between this distance, as an immortal goddess having begotten a mortal son, for whom she fully experiences the painful reality of mortal motherhood.
