Hey Nostradamus is a book that was written in 2004 set in the real world, about a fictional
shooting that took place at Delbrook secondary school, and around the Vancouver area. The
story is based on four different peoples accounts in a first person point of view. With each person
explaining religion, losing loved ones, teenage love, and sex, the author is able to relate to more
people since he is using significant main ideas, and different perspectives of those main ideas.

In the school shooting, Jason loses his girlfriend Cheryl, as well as a possible child. This affects
Jason in a huge way as he is not able to cope with the loss, and becomes hated by the parents of
Cheryl. He also does not get out of his antisocial stage, even after he meets another girl later on
in life. Heather also is not the best at being social, so they both use characters throughout the
story. Heather holds on to the characters after Jason goes missing. This effect Heatter, and she
goes through quite an ordeal just to keep his scent in the apartment, as well as to make it look
like he is still living in the apartment. Reg well not dead. might as well be to Jason in the first
little bit of the story as he does not communicate with him at all. Reg s family also does not

dies, but this does not affect him too much. His Wife Barb goes crazy, and actually gets Jason to
have sex with her in the hope to have babies that look like Kent, Repeating the Cheryl Marriage

The Universal Qualities of Chinese Creation Myths Essay
The Universal Qualities of Chinese Creation Myths
From every culture and every generation come myths, myths that discuss things such as the
existence of a god, the purpose of the sun and the moon and most importantly creation and how we
came to be on this earth. Creation myths not only contain an explanation for our existence but will
also say or demonstrate something distinctive about the culture from which it originated in a way
unique to that culture. Despite the differences in time of their creation and the cultures from which
they come, all creation myths contain universal elements, elements that can be found in creation
myths from around the world. Chinese Creation myths, though created in a remote area of the

Darwinism And Religion Gould Summary
At the beginning of the essay Gould made a clear reference to a dear friend, Kirtley Mather, who
was a pillar of both science and Christian religion in America (Gould, 1981). Comparatively, this
appealed to the emotions of the reader, unlike most scholarly works Gould reminded the reader of
his humanity. Often, Christians relate evolutionas being the work of a devil, or some form of
subhuman, out to misguide their faith; therefore, the reader assumed this was Gould s way of
facilitating a viable connection with biased readers before undermining creationism. Darwinism is
known as the theory of evolution, and creationists repeatedly utilize a mistaken vernacular of the
word theory to denounce evolution. Although, a theory is part of a hierarchy of confidence running
downhill from fact to theory to hypothesis to guess (Gould, 1981).... Show more content on

Moreover, Gould explained how theories are the anatomy behind ideas, which attempt to
decipher facts. Facts are data, they form the fabric of reality, but like Gould said, Einstein s
theory of gravitation replaced Newton s, but apples did not suspend themselves in mid air,
pending the outcome. And humans evolved from apelike ancestors whether they did so by
Darwin s proposed mechanism or by some other, yet to be discovered (Gould, 1981). In other
words, Darwinism is a theory, but human genetics were, without a doubt, sown from the same
seeds as apes, and even if another theory replaces Darwinism our ancestry will remain the

Social Security currently extends benefits to about 61.9 million people. In 1935, when it was first
created, under 225,000 people received benefits. President Franklin D. Roosevelt created the
program during the Great Depression. This was during a time period of economic instability and

Firstly, opponents of Social Security privatization worry there are many risks involved. They
worry about risks associated with investing in the stock market. They believe this because
investors are not able to accurately predict what the market will do next. According to a
researcher at the Cato Institute, a research organization on public policy, Michael Tanner, states
there have been many big drops in the stock market over the years. Nobody is certain what it will
do next (1). The market could be up one day and down the next like a rollercoaster at an
amusement park. Many people do not want to privatize Social Security because investing in the
stock market involves many risks, especially if all the money invested is intended to last
throughout retirement years. There is no guarantee any money will be made. Many people also
have the chance of losing large sums of money. People are FRIGHTENED (sad) they could lose

government with the stock market. A database that specializes in business, political, and

would undermine basic free market principle and impair the economy ( Social Security Reform

The Female Role in A Rose for Emily, Miss Brill, and The...
Reading literature, at first, might seem like simple stories. However, in works like William
Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill, and Kate Chopin s The Storm, the
female protagonists are examples of how society has oppressive expectations of women simply
because of their gender. In A Rose for Emily, by William Faulkner, the story starts out with a
distinctive split between the motivations of men and women: The men through a sort of respectful
affection for a fallen monument, the women mostly out of curiosity (Faulkner 121). At the funeral
of Emily, the narrator appoints men in the category of attending out of respect, and women
attending simply because they are curious and nosy. The immediate... Show more content on

The town tolerates a human being s death in order to preserve themselves from the task of
investigating a word, lady, a woman, Miss Emily (Curry). Any objection would undermine the
entire meaning of being a lady. Emily ultimately gets away with murder because she is a woman.
An important aspect in A Rose for Emily is the narrator s gender is left a mystery; this allows the
reader to openly interpret the story from a different aspect, more specifically, through the mind
of a feminist. Emily is subtly portrayed as an admirable woman who defies society s
expectations of gender roles. Faulkner s use of the nosy women and the respectful men at the
funeral, without further inquiry, may seem like it is in favor of a patriarchal society. However,
Faulkner s main goal was to encourage the reader to understand that a woman, Emily, was
capable of controlling her own behavior without society s influence. In order to better understand
how society s expectations of women are incorporated in The Storm, it is important to understand
author Kate Chopin s protest. Chopin s writings gave the potential to unhinge patriarchal
discourse (Cutter) by giving women a voice. Her earlier works focused on passive women who
were unheard and oppressed in a patriarchal society. Her later works show contrast by moving
towards a clearer understanding of how women most effectively can resist patriarchal suppression
(Cutter). As Chopin s career progressed, she gave

Throughout the late 1800s to the early 1900s, both japan and India saw a rise in the use of
machines in the textile industry. Both showed similar recruitment techniques, but were not so
similar in who the workers were and their working conditions.
The Indian textiles chart showed how India used machines to produce greater yarn and cloth
amounts in 1914 as compared to the production in 1884. As well it demonstrated how the amount
of people using machine made textiles had greatly increased opposed to hand made textiles (Doc

working conditions in the Japanese textile factories seem barely livable. In contrast the Indian

better living conditions for Indian workers than Japanese workers. Since the document is written

Pathological Liar Essay example
We have all lied at some time or another in our life. As a child, we may have lied so we would
not get in trouble. As adults, we may lie to avoid disagreements with someone, so we can maintain
a healthy relationship with that person. We teach children that it is wrong to lie; however lying
comes natural for us, and we all liewhenever it is convenient. These kinds of lies are white lies .
They are harmless lies if mentioned with the right purpose. People lie to loved ones more than
anyone else. It is easier to lie to a loved one more than anyone else, because telling the truth might
be more painful than a lie. Some people are better liars than others. When a person becomes
habituated with lying, it becomes a problem. When Lies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A pathological liar does not realize that he is telling lies. A pathological liar unintentionally lies
and believes that he is telling the truth. Based on the C.C. Dike, M. Baranoski, and E.E.H.
Griffith s study, Pathological lying revised, pathological lying can be considered diagnosis
when the lying is persistent, pervasive, disproportionate, and not motivated primarily by reward
or other external factors. is compulsive and impulsive by nature (the liar is unable to control the
lying). Also, from a psychiatric point of view, behavior is abnormal based on the person s
ability to power over it, and not the behavior s degree or purpose. A strong psychiatric morbidity
indicator, but not necessary sufficient to establish a disorder, is when the behavior causes more
harm than good and when it is supports an irrational reason. Therefore, pathological lying
implies an apparent lack of control and for pathological lying to exist the individual must lie
despite himself, just as someone with and anxiety disorder cannot help feeling anxious. (Grubin,
Acad). A Pathological liar does not have to have a reason to lie. They will not feel guilty or care
about what happens to people due to the lies that they have told. Pathological liars lie to control
and get their own way. It is difficult to determine if the stories of a pathological liar are true or not

The Natural Approach ( Na ) Developed By Tracy Terrell And...
The Natural Approach The Natural Approach (NA) developed by Tracy Terrell and supported by
Stephen Krashen, is a language teaching approach based on how babies naturally learned their
native language. The efficiency of the NA is derived from its very own structure: a communicative
based approach, which produces superior results than any habit drill approach. Its own name
reflects the importance of this method, since it duplicates the natural path of first language
acquisitioninto second language acquisition. Therefore, students should first be able to acquire
language before they are able to speak it; oral production should be delay until it naturally emerges
or when the students are ready to do so. Acquisition and learning are two different concepts that
need to be addressed differently in order for the student to learn a new language. In The Natural
Approach to Language Teaching: An Update, Tracy Terrell explains Krahen s Monitor Theory,
which categorizes these two conceptions apart by stating that acquisition is the unconscious
formulation of grammatical principles and learning as the conscious cognitive based study of
grammar (122). Such definitions suggest that the best time for students to learn a language is
outside the classroom, where they are exposed to language in its natural form. They are exposed to
little acquisition practices outside the classroom; therefore, acquisition should happen in the
classroom and learning outside the classroom. They are

2. Porter s Five Forces Analysis
It analyses the micro environment of the business i.e. its competitiveness, attractiveness and
profitability.
a. Emirates Supplier Power
The supplier power in airlines is dominated by the world s two largest aircraft manufacturers are
Airbus and Boeing. The competition between the two manufacturers is neck to neck but that
would prove to be a boon for Emirates as the prices would not rocket through the ceiling. A study
shows that Emirates holds 93 Boeing aircrafts and 83 Airbus units (Planespotters, 2009). In 2007,
Emirates purchased 81 Airbus flights, to extend it services however, they chose Airbus over
Boeing as the latter failed to deliver its latest aircrafts on time and moreover, Airbus had quoted a
good price (Barryl, 2007). The changing oil prices also have an adverse effect on the aviation
industry. In a nutshell, the bargaining power of suppliers is high. Buyer Power
There are 2 direct flights from Dubai to Hong Kong weekly, rest are 35 are via flights. Fares vary
according to demand, but Emirates not being a budget airline its buyers do not really influence the
price. Further more, a Travel Survey concluded that above 60% of the travellers preferred Emirates
Airlines to any other international Airlines (Glass, 2008).
However, one could opt for an indirect flight if tariffs are concerned or if they wish a stop

On November 20, 2016, David, Morgan, and I visited the Felix Valle House State Historic Site.
It is located at 198 Market Street in Saint Genevieve, Missouri. This site was built in the early
1800 s. The initial construction of the house began in 1818 and the earliest recorded date of
construction beginning was January 1st. It was started by a man named Jacob Philipson. Mr.
Philipson was a Jewish merchant from Philadelphia who moved to Saint Louis in 1808. He
moved his business down to Saint Genevieve in 1811 and in April of 1818 he purchased a lot of
ground. On this ground, Philipson built a one and a half story Federal Style home which would
end up containing both his personal living quarters and his store. The lot was also home to a... Show

There was a relaxing feeling coming from the room. The colors were pretty mellow such as the
cream colored walls. Although the room gave off this aura, there was a very elegant tea set in
the middle of the room. The wall contained a fireplace while the corner of the room contained a
combination of both a bookshelf and a desk. The desk had a pair of golden glasses that belonged
to one of the men who lived in the home (I can t recall exactly who they belonged to). Aside from
these things, the room also contained what looked like a very comfortable couch. The guide
stated that all of the pieces in the house aside from one fireplace and most of the replicated sales

from the room. There was a table set up for dinner which had two styles of dining were set up.
Three of the four styles were American Style. These had the engravings on the silverware engraved
on the front. However, there was one setting setup different. This setting was the French Style. The
only thing different from the American Style here was that the engravings were found on the back.
This showed us yet again how the times were changing over from French Style to American Style
in what would become Federal Style. Moving from the downstairs to the home s upstairs, you enter
a set of staircases found outside the home s

The Carnage of World War I
The carnage of world war one was the result of the clash between new technologies, but old
strategies. Blitzkrieg warfare would be the first form of modern military tactics for it fully utilizes
the technological advancements of that time. The term Blitzkrieg was not invented by the
Germans, but by an English magazine that described the invasion of Poland (Showalter). While
many accredit the invention of Blitzkriegwarfare to Heinz Guderian, Germany s Chief of Mobile
Troops during WWII, it was actually invented far before that. In fact, it was developed right after
WWI after seeing the devastating effects of trench warfare(Showalter). Ironically, the basis of
Blitzkrieg warfare was also laid by German Field Marshall Alfred von Schlieffenof the famous
Schlieffen plan of WWI(Showalter). The basic essence of Blitzkrieg warfare was built upon the
belief that Germany was always going to be out resourced and out numbered in every war and
thus in order to win it, the Germans must strike hard and fast and penetrate deep behind enemy
lines(Showalter). Thus, Blitzkrieg warfare was the most effective military tactic of its time
because it utilized all of the technology of its time, it not only utilized physical warfare, but also
psychological warfare, and because Germany s opponents were not prepared for this kind of
warfare.
One of the main reasons the Germans were so successful with Blitzkrieg warfare was because
Blitzkrieg warfare utilized all of the modern technologies to its

How Did The Treaty Of Versailles Punish Germany
The Treaty of Versailles is a peace treaty, where it basically punishes Germany. It makes them
powerless to a point that they cannot be able to create another war. This treaty was way too harsh
on the Germans. It is a fact that they were not the only ones fighting in the war, and they should
not be the only one, who should be punished. Everyone must take responsibilities for their drastic
decisions. All of the major countries had a role in this war, not only Germany. The Germans were
stripped down of everything they had. It left Germans helplessly and made to live in poverty. In
order to pay off the damages that were made, they were treated like slaves. Instead of making
peace with Germany, the Treaty of Versailles

Women in World War Two
Women in World War Two There was much more to women s work during World War Two than:

a war? In 1939 to 1945 for many women, World War II brought not only sacrifices, but also a
new style of life including more jobs, opportunities and the development of new skills. They were
considered as America s secret weapon by the government. Women were who allow getting over

In 1919, Lloyd George of England, Orlando of Italy, Clemenceau of France and Woodrow Wilson

War One, this produced the creation of the Treaty of Versailles
. German people were unhappy with
this. They couldn t afford to pay the money because they were really poor after the war. The only
solution they had was to choose a man who promise to rip up the treaty, his name was Adolf Hitler,
the man who started the World War II, that generated an incredible change In many countries were

Kappa Alpha Theta And CASA Case Study
I am a Theta. I am for the child. As an undergraduate, pledging Theta at Phi chapter of Kappa

especially through our philanthropy work for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). For
25 years, Kappa Alpha Theta and CASA have shared a common belief that every abused or
neglected child should be loved, have a safe home, and have the opportunities to succeed. A
CASA provides a voice for children during the juvenile court system. As children move from one
foster home to the next, consumed by the legal system they are too young to understand; a CASA

they are fundamentally an extra set of eyes and ears for these children. By getting to know the

Nature, Power, And Division Of A Tempest And The Tempest
Nature, Power, and Division in A Tempest and The Tempest
Humans have often struggled to define their relationship with nature throughout history. In the early
periods of their existence, humans were ruled by the brutality of untamed nature. They utilized
nature to an extent of survival, but had not yet developed a system to thrive within it. As humans
advanced, both mentally and technologically, their aptitude and desire to exploit nature increased
dramatically. These two polar relationships between humans and nature are mirrored in William
Shakespeare s The Tempest and AimГ© CГ©saire s A Tempest. In The Tempest, Shakespeare
fixates on Caliban s attachment to nature and Prospero s exploitation of it, while in A Tempest,
CГ©saire employs nature as the dividing force between Caliban and Prospero. These two separate
themes both represent the consequences that occurred throughout history as a result of two
ideologies about nature colliding during colonization.
Caliban s strong emotional attachment to the island in The Tempest motivates him to actively
respect nature. During Caliban s first interaction with Prospero in the play, he states, This Island s
mine, by Sycorax my mother. This assertion of dominion by Caliban sparks a desire for him to
protect the nature on the island. As a result, he values nature like it is an extension of himself and
strives to maintain harmony with it. Caliban follows this up by reminding Prospero, And then I
loved thee and show d thee all the

Hollywood and Nathaniel West s The Day of the Locust Essay
Hollywood and Nathaniel West s The Day of the Locust Works Cited Missing Although set in the
1930s, Nathanael West s The Day of the Locust ironically resembles contemporary Hollywood.
Within the glamorous setting of Hollywood, West s characters take on multiple roles instead of
assuming individual personalities. They put on and remove these imaginary personality masks,
similar to those in the Commedia dell Arte, to exhibit a range of emotions that only their character
type would exhibit. Consequently, West s characters are trapped in this restrictive atmosphere,
especially at the end of the novel when they become part of a collective mob. In these manners, the
characters in The Day of the Locust exhibit qualities akin to modern actors,... Show more content on

In fact, Webb notes that today, only one major studio still exists in the city, as most back lots
have turned into offices that coordinate filming activities elsewhere. This small fact proves that
Hollywood has always been a concept as much as a place (xi), a symbol people reference for the
movie industry, no matter where the movies were actually produced. Hollywood cinema also
produces its own realities on the big screen. As Cecil B. De Mille. Goldfish and Samuel Goldfish
claimed during the production of the first motion picture, when real life doesn t fit a
preconceived image, create another reality (xi). Since that 1913 statement, Hollywood has
fostered this type of reality making that results into an escape for its audiences. Aside from the
physical escape of traveling to the movies or Blockbuster in order to view these films, audiences
are also invested in the characters they view on screen. However, Webb informs the public that
what appears on the screen is a stylized version of real life (or a plausible vision of imaginary
worlds) that is made possible by the prolonged collaborative effort of hundreds, working in
support of a celebrated few (3). The reality of the cinema lies in producers, directors, actors, back
lots, etc. involved in its creation rather

ADVANTAGES OF RUBY ON RAILS
Ruby on Rail is constructed by the language of ruby which is a programming language
dynamically. Thus, the basic advantage of Ruby on Rails comes by the language usage, as ruby
makes it very easy to do Meta programming.
One major advantages of Ruby on Rail is its MVC framework, in which RoR offer sever handling
view layers, the models layers (database communication), as well as the interaction between such
layers with the help of controllers. Different frameworks depend on several developmental efforts to
get this.
One more essential feature is the database tables mapping to the objects of Ruby named as models.
The running database along with the application code, already it contain everything Ruby on Rails
needs to know, that s why there is no need to deal with the inner deep details.
In Ruby on Rails, the striking feature is known as scaffolding. With the Ruby on Rails scaffolding,
automatically, it create the operations of CRUD complete set (i.e., Create, Retrieve, Update, as
well as Delete), along with the database table views. Then, they can modify it according to your

Advertisement Advertisements For Women s Advertising
KEEP IT REAL JUST FOR ONCE
Nowadays, companies spend billions of dollars in search of customers for the companies products.
As a result, the necessity of target advertising can t be underestimated. After all, women had no
reason to purchase a $50000 necklace until Pandora proposed the tagline, your jewelry isn t just
jewelry, in its latest advertisement in Cosmopolitan Magazine (Pandora. Cosmopolitan). In that
regard, modern advertisements paint a stereotypical image of an ideal woman as the classy being,
appareled in artificial, perhaps fake, beauty. If it s not the glossy pink or red lips, then it ll either
be the artificial eye lashes, the dyed hair, or sexy stare that hangs on the pages of magazines and
postal on bill boards. While advertisements attempt to convince us that all women are supposed to
look pretty, be looked at and be seductive, in reality, this is unwarranted. As careful analysis of three
ads targeting at women in Advertisement Cosmopolitan 2015 indicate, advertisements , in attempt
to catch patrons , have besmirched the ideologies about women s prototype by stereotypically
exaggerating the relevance of physical beauty in them. Moreover, such unfair portrayer is proven,
on several bases, to be detrimental in the long run.
One of the most common unfair messages conveyed in women oriented ads is that the physical
appearance of women is all that matters. This proposes that without applying makeups, dying

The Importance Of Mental Strength In The Novel Night
Mental Strength is the most valuable strength in a survival situation because it can not be lost or
taken away from someone. According to Caroline Alexander s article The Voyage of the James
Caird the crew of the James Caird needed mental strength to survive the dangerous journey. In the
article she writes Worsley, despite the rank discomfort, was in his element. He was conscious of
being in the midst of a great adventure which had been his life s ambition (Alexander 185). Here it
is shown that despite the physical challenges Worsley was still able to maintain his mental strength
which kept him going. Similar to the crew of the James Caird Sherpas that climb Mt. Everest to
transport goods also need mental strength to make it through their job. In the article The Value of
the Sherpa Life by Grayson Schaffer it states And perhaps most significantly, the amount of time
that Sherpas spend making laps through the deadly Khumbu Icefalland up the Lhotse Face
(Schaffer 218). Schaffer explains that despite the physically grueling laps their mental strength
which kept them going was maintained. Similar to the Sherpas of Mt. Everest and the crew of the
James Caird in Elie Wiesels memoir Night he needed mental strength to survive in the
concentration camps of World War II. In the book it says An icy wind was blowing violently. But

My Work And Dedication Of My Father Works At Dupont...
There were many different degrees to to choose from but pursing a degree in Accounting stood
out to me because there are so many different paths you can go on to where you want to be in life.
So far, I ve set many goals not only on the degree and jobs associated with it, but also goals for the
years to come in my life. Of course there will be a lot of responsibilities and hard work to come
with this major, but in the end hopefully all the hard work and dedication will pay out. I grew up
in a small town in West Virginia
named Parkersburg where there were a decent amount of jobs but
there were to bigger companies in the area that pretty much made Parkersburg a suitable place to
live. Those two companies were DuPont Washington Works and the Bureau of the Fiscal
Service. My mother works at the Bureau of the Fiscal Service and my father works at DuPont.
Growing up she always told me accountants made good money and also received great benefits
because it was a government job. I never really knew much about accounting or the business
world until I took a business class and accounting class in high school which taught me a lot
because I got to practice accounting, ran a business in a 9 week simulator, and have an internship
with State Farm, Dan McPherson. It was safe to say, I would be attending West Virginia University
in pursuit of an accounting degree. Now fast forward a couple months to where I am at now at

Friar Lawrence is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because Friar could have told
everyone that they were married and he gives Juliet the potion. This conflict could have easily
been resolved if Friar Lawrence would have been truthful. The first reason I gave you is that
Friar Lawrence could have told everybody. He agreed to marry Paris and Juliet after Friar had

Music, The Food Of Neuroscience
In the article, Music, the food of neuroscience? Robert Zattore, a cognitive neuroscientist,
suggested that we should consider music, art, and culture in a biological perspective (312). There
is a well known quote by Friedrich Nietzsche that speaks out to many people and states, Without
music, life would be a mistake . This article by Zattore makes a reader consider if music has a
bigger meaning in our lives than we think. The author argues that we can learn about neuroscience

According to Zattore s article, the research behind people with amusia has shown that music
depends on neural processes and therefore that music can indeed lend itself to scientific study
(313). There is no doubt that a decent section of this article was devoted to explaining how little
we know and how complicated it is to make discoveries in this topic of musical neuroscience.
In addition to justifying how determining which aspects of music apply to neuroscience, Zattore
suggests that music has a correlation with speech. Some researchers believe that music and speech
share several similarities. Speech processing takes place in the left half of the brain so scientists
wonder if this asymmetry is mirrored in the right hemisphere for music (313). On the other hand,
the author states that there have been cases where individuals have lost their speech functions due
to auditory damage but show high level musical function, like the example Zattore gives of the
Russian composer Vissarion Shebalin (313). Furthermore, the author explains how certain studies
have shown promising results when comparing how speech relates to music. Neuroimaging studies
demonstrate that some functions like syntax may require similar neural resources for both speech
and music (313). Zattore is careful to

Elizabeth Jordan Character Analysis
Identity is the fact of being who or what a person or thing is and in this book Elizabeth Jordan, the
main character is trying to find her identity with this newfound lifestyle. She is trying to adjust to
letting the Lord into her life and dedicating herself to him because she has never done that before.
She always gets distracted, Elizabeth had entered her closet committed to prayer and exited
committed to tackling her foot odor. That was the danger of spending time with Godmost of the
time you found something else to do (Farby, 117). She was struggling to adjust and found it hard
to say what she wanted to. Luckily she had someone to guide, Miss Clara, had told her many
important things throughout this book one quote that helps support Elizabeth in finding her
identity in this book is, There s no magic in the location in the location you pray. But Scripture
does say to go into your inner room and pray secret, and your heavenly Father who sees what is
done in secret will reward you. Get rid of any distractions, and focus your heart and mind on Him.
Acknowledge that He is God and that you desperately needHim (Farby, 151). Following after Miss
Clara said this Elizabeth surrendered herself to the Lord. She got rid of all distractions to solely
focus on him and let the Lord fix all wrong in her life. She surrendered to him knowing she can t
fix all the wrong by herself. All the wrong being her marriage, relationship with her daughter, and

Personal Statement Of Faith By God
PERSONAL STATEMENT OF FAITH
As a man purchased by God through his Son, I believe it is necessary to clearly state, in a concise
manner, the closed handed truths I believe as guided by Scripture. My Statement of Faith
summarizes essential Christian beliefs, shows unity in Christ, and guards me from potential error.
I affirm these gospel truths, with the understanding that my confidence in these truths grows
progressively over time. These beliefs are great cause for joy. Far more than just words on a page,
they are precious gifts from God.
I.The Scriptures.
I believe that the 66 books of the Bible are God s word revealed to us, written by God s apostles
and prophets. In its original manuscripts it contains truth without error as it unfolds the story of
God his creation, our fall, his redemption and restoration; therefore it is, and will remain to the end
of the world, the true center of Christian union. The Scriptures are the supreme standard by which
all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.
II.The Triune God.
We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God. He is an infinite, intelligent Spirit,
the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth, glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible
worship, trust, and love. In the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: the Father, the Son,
and the Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but complimentary
offices in the great work of redemption.

All Quiet on the Western Front
All Quiet on the Western Front A Book Review
Professor s Comments: This is a good example of a book review typically required in history
classes. It is unbiased and thoughtful. The Student explains the book and the time in which it was
written in great detail, without retelling the entire story... a pitfall that many first time reviewers
may experience. All Quiet on the WesternFront is the story of Paul Baumer s service as a soldier in
the German army during World War I
. Paul and his classmates enlist together, share experiences
together, grow together, share disillusionment over the loss of their youth, and the friends even
experience the horrors of death together. Though the book is a novel, it gives the reader ... Show

The story is as relevant today as it was when published in 1929 because it is the story of more
than war; it is the story of humanity. The book begins with the death of Paul s friend. The men
have, by this time, become almost desensitized to death. Kemmerich (the dying friend) owns a
fine pair of English airman s boots. It is a forgone conclusion that Kemmerich will no longer
require them. It is not petty greed, but pragmatism, which drives Muller s desire to have the
boots. The troops own equipment is ragged and worn, making anything in serviceable condition
an improvement on what they have. As we find out in the story, not only are the soldiers boots
worn out, but the artillery of the German army is also worn out. This may symbolize that not
only are the soldiers and equipment at the front worn out, but so is Germany as a whole. Germany
was worn out and had no idea what was going to happen, just as the soldiers had no idea where the
artillery shells would land.
Paul reminisces about his days in school and how he and his friends believed the indoctrination
they had received from their schoolmaster. However, after experiencing war, Paul questions the
fervent nationalism of the Germans. What has nationalism done for Germany other than destroy
the country? In blindly following the words of his elders, Paul has achieved nothing except to
become an old man at the age of twenty. Not only does Paul now question his schoolmaster s
reasoning, but he also

Therefore, the next solution would be relying on the retail store itself to help minimize the
operation cost. As the Logistic Efficiency Analysis Team, we are going to focus more on the
retailer level. We will provide an analysis on how daily retail store routines and workloads can
affect the corporate level decision on supply chain.
Working at Target, teamwork and collaboration is the expectation of their team members and
leaders. For each work centers is joint directly or indirectly among other work centers.
Additionally, Target believes in diversity and has a non bias hiring process; hence, with team
members come from different background and 100 250 employees, getting the right person to the
right place and on the same page becomes difficult. As a strategy, Target divided the store into
three sectors. The administration team, your sales floor team, your operational team; within these
team there are sub teams and each of those sub team has a leaders and assistant leaders. By doing
so, Target is able to drive the divide and conquer strategy.
The administration team responsibilities are, hiring the right team member for the right position.
Ensuring, equal working opportunities for all team members. Providing assistance in in general

Hack An Iphone Analysis
The articles of the constitution have withstood the change of time because our country founders
worded them in such a way so that principle ideas will never be questioned. The FBI in the case of
one of the California shooters, Syed Farook, pressured Apple to hack the phone without the search
warrant. The FBI shouldn t have pressured Apple to hack an iPhonebecause it breaches privacy, it
violates free speech, and it hurts apple s business.
From the business point of view of Apple, I have seen Arguments that Apple refused to unlock the
phone for business reasons, to protect the Brand. (2) This because Apple phone sales would
decrease because people of the world do not want to be tracked on their phones. Also, the company
has a responsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Government has no right to force anybody to provide Services against their will. (2) If the U.S.
did force companies to provide services to violate personal privacy, freedom or speech, or
fundamental human rights, they would behave no differently than the governments of Russia or
China. Unlike the U.S., these governments have no respect for individual rights or free speech.
On the other hand, many people may argue that by hacking into the shooter s iPhone it would
increase national security. But, The Fourth Amendment was meant to protect Americans from
illegal searches. This means that police or other law enforcement can t search your home, car, or
clothing without permission from a court. It also guarantees Americans right to privacy... It doesn
t say that a person s home or belongings can t be searched at all. It does say that the government
must have a good reason for the search, or probable cause. And the government must get
permission, in the form of a warrant from a judge by showing probable cause. (1) That is because
the fourth amendment gives us the right to privacy.
All in all, Apple did choose the right thing of refusing to hack into the iPhone. If Apple would
breach the Phone, then they would break the constitution by going against the first and fourth
amendment. Also, if Apple did violate the device, then it would have hurt the brand name. To avoid
any other issues such as this one in the future we should amend the constitution or add laws that
adjust to changing technology in the

Simon As A Christ Figure In William Golding s Lord Of The...
In the novel Lord of The Flies, William Golding portrayed Simon as a Christ figure. Simon and
Jesus led parallel lives. Simon s appearance seemed to resemble that of Jesus Christ s. Simon
picked fruit from the tree to feed the littluns. He also practiced deep meditation away from the
other children. Simon received messages from the Lord of The Flies while meditating. Simon also
tried to illuminate the children about the myth of the beast and dies a horrific death at the hands of
the people he loved. He received an almost angelic burial. His death marks the completion of the
destruction of the island s civilization. All of these events allude to Jesuss life events, according to
the scriptures in the Bible.
Simon s appearance seemed to resemble that of Jesus Christ s. Simon is described as having no

Jesus is also described as non good looker himself. ...there is no beauty that we should desire him.
(Isaiah 53:2).
In the novel, Simon picked fruit for the littluns, when they could not reach it. Simon found for
them the fruit they could not reach. (Golding 56). In the Bible, Jesus took 5 loaves of bread and

History And Development Of Law Enforcement
Written Assignment #1 In this essay I will be writing about subjects about law enforcement. The
first is the history and development of law enforcement, the hiring of, training of, and career
paths of law enforcement officers, and last the various styles and primary operational strategies of
today s law enforcement agencies. The history of criminal justice system has come a long way
from 1653 to where we are now in present day. America was built on the idea that government will
not be centralized. That is why the Constitution developed a government divided into three
branches. Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The purpose for a government divided into three
branches is to limit the power of the government. The same idea is what created the criminal justice
system in which we have in today s time. The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 limit the power of local
law enforcement, and restricts the government from using military personal to inforce laws on US
soil. Furthermore, another authority that limits the power of law enforcement, but also empowers,
is jurisdiction. Jurisdiction is what give our policeofficers the right to inforce laws. Each law
enforcement agency has its own jurisdiction they must follow. Political jurisdiction has three major
divisions: Federal, state, and local. Each political jurisdiction division operate within their own
borders, and only answer to the jurisdiction of their

Scripture Verse
The Scripture verse I chose was Genesis (1 4). I chose this scripture verse because the creation
of this world is important to us and our religion. I chose to do an I with flowers around it
because flowers were created on day 3 of the creation of this world. The joys of doing this
project was to read this scripture verse and to reflect on what this verse means. When I reflected
on this verse I thought about how amazing it is to see the little flowers and trees and streams that
I run through on my trail system in my neighborhood so that s why creation is so amazing and
mind blowing to me. The challenges in this project were reading my handwriting and trying to

Discrimination Quotes In Frankenstein
Discrimination in Frankenstein
Have you ever discriminated against someone or been discriminated against because you were
different? Frankenstein is a book that explores society and human behavior when someone different
is introduced. It says that humans are not always willing to introduce someone new to their society
and that sometimes they tend to discriminate against the different one. To show this, the writer used
a monster which was introduced to a human society. This monster is rejected everywhere he goes
because of his difference. He is rejected by his creator, and then he is rejected by the villagers, by
the farmers who the monster had so long admired and in the end by the reader himself.
Unable to endure the aspect of the being I had created, I rushed out of the room .
The writer uses this quote to show that the creator, in this case Victor Frankenstein, is the first to
reject the monster as he rushes out of the room. Victor had worked day and night trying to create
an individual that would be and would look like a human. Once Victor had finished creating this
monster he realized how not human like the monster was and decided to reject him as the book
states: I had desidered it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had finished
the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror filled my heart .. This ... Show more content

The book states: The whole village was roused; some fled, some attacked me . Wherever he goes,
the monster cannot find a person who accepts his way of being. This is shown in the different

rejection of the monster by the villagers symbolizes the rejection of people that belong to a
different culture and that may show discrimination when someone new is

Edgar Allan Poe Symbolizing Baltimore

mascot for the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore has some of the countries most intellectual literary

in Baltimore until his death. The theater is also a part of Baltimore, The Baltimore Senator Theater.

system they will never be able to get out of. The local policies makers, and government officials
play a key part in this oppression of minorities.
The New York Times had an editorial section called How Racism Doomed Baltimore the article

  • 6. Darwinism And Religion Gould Summary At the beginning of the essay Gould made a clear reference to a dear friend, Kirtley Mather, who was a pillar of both science and Christian religion in America (Gould, 1981). Comparatively, this appealed to the emotions of the reader, unlike most scholarly works Gould reminded the reader of his humanity. Often, Christians relate evolutionas being the work of a devil, or some form of subhuman, out to misguide their faith; therefore, the reader assumed this was Gould s way of facilitating a viable connection with biased readers before undermining creationism. Darwinism is known as the theory of evolution, and creationists repeatedly utilize a mistaken vernacular of the word theory to denounce evolution. Although, a theory is part of a hierarchy of confidence running downhill from fact to theory to hypothesis to guess (Gould, 1981).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And humans evolved from apelike ancestors whether they did so by Darwin s proposed mechanism or by some other, yet to be discovered (Gould, 1981). In other words, Darwinism is a theory, but human genetics were, without a doubt, sown from the same seeds as apes, and even if another theory replaces Darwinism our ancestry will remain the ... However, in works like William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill, and Kate Chopin s The Storm, the female protagonists are examples of how society has oppressive expectations of women simply because of their gender. In A Rose for Emily, by William Faulkner, the story starts out with a distinctive split between the motivations of men and women: The men through a sort of respectful affection for a fallen monument, the women mostly out of curiosity (Faulkner 121). At the funeral of Emily, the narrator appoints men in the category of attending out of respect, and women attending simply because they are curious and nosy. The immediate... Any objection would undermine the entire meaning of being a lady. Emily ultimately gets away with murder because she is a woman. An important aspect in A Rose for Emily is the narrator s gender is left a mystery; this allows the reader to openly interpret the story from a different aspect, more specifically, through the mind of a feminist. Emily is subtly portrayed as an admirable woman who defies society s expectations of gender roles. Faulkner s use of the nosy women and the respectful men at the funeral, without further inquiry, may seem like it is in favor of a patriarchal society. However, Faulkner s main goal was to encourage the reader to understand that a woman, Emily, was capable of controlling her own behavior without society s influence. In order to better understand how society s expectations of women are incorporated in The Storm, it is important to understand author Kate Chopin s protest. Chopin s writings gave the potential to unhinge patriarchal discourse (Cutter) by giving women a voice. Her earlier works focused on passive women who were unheard and oppressed in a patriarchal society. Her later works show contrast by moving towards a clearer understanding of how women most effectively can resist patriarchal suppression (Cutter). As Chopin s career progressed, she gave ... Also, from a psychiatric point of view, behavior is abnormal based on the person s ability to power over it, and not the behavior s degree or purpose. • 19. The Natural Approach ( Na ) Developed By Tracy Terrell And... The Natural Approach The Natural Approach (NA) developed by Tracy Terrell and supported by Stephen Krashen, is a language teaching approach based on how babies naturally learned their native language. The efficiency of the NA is derived from its very own structure: a communicative based approach, which produces superior results than any habit drill approach. Its own name reflects the importance of this method, since it duplicates the natural path of first language acquisitioninto second language acquisition. Therefore, students should first be able to acquire language before they are able to speak it; oral production should be delay until it naturally emerges or when the students are ready to do so. Acquisition and learning are two different concepts that need to be addressed differently in order for the student to learn a new language. In The Natural Approach to Language Teaching: An Update, Tracy Terrell explains Krahen s Monitor Theory, which categorizes these two conceptions apart by stating that acquisition is the unconscious formulation of grammatical principles and learning as the conscious cognitive based study of grammar (122). Such definitions suggest that the best time for students to learn a language is outside the classroom, where they are exposed to language in its natural form. They are exposed to little acquisition practices outside the classroom; therefore, acquisition should happen in the classroom and learning outside the classroom. They are ... Emirates Supplier Power The supplier power in airlines is dominated by the world s two largest aircraft manufacturers are Airbus and Boeing. The competition between the two manufacturers is neck to neck but that would prove to be a boon for Emirates as the prices would not rocket through the ceiling. A study shows that Emirates holds 93 Boeing aircrafts and 83 Airbus units (Planespotters, 2009). In 2007, Emirates purchased 81 Airbus flights, to extend it services however, they chose Airbus over Boeing as the latter failed to deliver its latest aircrafts on time and moreover, Airbus had quoted a good price (Barryl, 2007). The changing oil prices also have an adverse effect on the aviation industry. In a nutshell, the bargaining power of suppliers is high. Blitzkrieg warfare would be the first form of modern military tactics for it fully utilizes the technological advancements of that time. The term Blitzkrieg was not invented by the Germans, but by an English magazine that described the invasion of Poland (Showalter). While many accredit the invention of Blitzkriegwarfare to Heinz Guderian, Germany s Chief of Mobile Troops during WWII, it was actually invented far before that. In fact, it was developed right after WWI after seeing the devastating effects of trench warfare(Showalter). Ironically, the basis of Blitzkrieg warfare was also laid by German Field Marshall Alfred von Schlieffenof the famous Schlieffen plan of WWI(Showalter). The basic essence of Blitzkrieg warfare was built upon the belief that Germany was always going to be out resourced and out numbered in every war and thus in order to win it, the Germans must strike hard and fast and penetrate deep behind enemy lines(Showalter). Thus, Blitzkrieg warfare was the most effective military tactic of its time because it utilized all of the technology of its time, it not only utilized physical warfare, but also psychological warfare, and because Germany s opponents were not prepared for this kind of warfare. • 26. Nature, Power, And Division Of A Tempest And The Tempest Nature, Power, and Division in A Tempest and The Tempest Humans have often struggled to define their relationship with nature throughout history. In the early periods of their existence, humans were ruled by the brutality of untamed nature. They utilized nature to an extent of survival, but had not yet developed a system to thrive within it. As humans advanced, both mentally and technologically, their aptitude and desire to exploit nature increased dramatically. These two polar relationships between humans and nature are mirrored in William Shakespeare s The Tempest and AimГ© CГ©saire s A Tempest. In The Tempest, Shakespeare fixates on Caliban s attachment to nature and Prospero s exploitation of it, while in A Tempest, CГ©saire employs nature as the dividing force between Caliban and Prospero. These two separate themes both represent the consequences that occurred throughout history as a result of two ideologies about nature colliding during colonization. Caliban s strong emotional attachment to the island in The Tempest motivates him to actively respect nature. During Caliban s first interaction with Prospero in the play, he states, This Island s mine, by Sycorax my mother. This assertion of dominion by Caliban sparks a desire for him to protect the nature on the island. After all, women had no reason to purchase a $50000 necklace until Pandora proposed the tagline, your jewelry isn t just jewelry, in its latest advertisement in Cosmopolitan Magazine (Pandora. Luckily she had someone to guide, Miss Clara, had told her many important things throughout this book one quote that helps support Elizabeth in finding her identity in this book is, There s no magic in the location in the location you pray. But Scripture does say to go into your inner room and pray secret, and your heavenly Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. Get rid of any distractions, and focus your heart and mind on Him. Acknowledge that He is God and that you desperately needHim (Farby, 151). Following after Miss Clara said this Elizabeth surrendered herself to the Lord. She got rid of all distractions to solely focus on him and let the Lord fix all wrong in her life. • 41. Personal Statement Of Faith By God PERSONAL STATEMENT OF FAITH As a man purchased by God through his Son, I believe it is necessary to clearly state, in a concise manner, the closed handed truths I believe as guided by Scripture. My Statement of Faith summarizes essential Christian beliefs, shows unity in Christ, and guards me from potential error. I affirm these gospel truths, with the understanding that my confidence in these truths grows progressively over time. These beliefs are great cause for joy. Far more than just words on a page, they are precious gifts from God. I.The Scriptures. I believe that the 66 books of the Bible are God s word revealed to us, written by God s apostles and prophets. In its original manuscripts it contains truth without error as it unfolds the story of God his creation, our fall, his redemption and restoration; therefore it is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union. The Scriptures are the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried. II.The Triune God. We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God. He is an infinite, intelligent Spirit, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth, glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible worship, trust, and love. In the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but complimentary offices in the great work of redemption. a. ... It is unbiased and thoughtful. The Student explains the book and the time in which it was written in great detail, without retelling the entire story... a pitfall that many first time reviewers may experience. All Quiet on the WesternFront is the story of Paul Baumer s service as a soldier in the German army during World War I . The story is as relevant today as it was when published in 1929 because it is the story of more than war; it is the story of humanity. The book begins with the death of Paul s friend. The men have, by this time, become almost desensitized to death. Kemmerich (the dying friend) owns a fine pair of English airman s boots. It is a forgone conclusion that Kemmerich will no longer require them. It is not petty greed, but pragmatism, which drives Muller s desire to have the boots. The troops own equipment is ragged and worn, making anything in serviceable condition an improvement on what they have. As we find out in the story, not only are the soldiers boots worn out, but the artillery of the German army is also worn out. This may symbolize that not only are the soldiers and equipment at the front worn out, but so is Germany as a whole. Germany was worn out and had no idea what was going to happen, just as the soldiers had no idea where the artillery shells would land. Paul reminisces about his days in school and how he and his friends believed the indoctrination they had received from their schoolmaster. However, after experiencing war, Paul questions the fervent nationalism of the Germans. What has nationalism done for Germany other than destroy the country? In blindly following the words of his elders, Paul has achieved nothing except to become an old man at the age of twenty. Not only does Paul now question his schoolmaster s reasoning, but he also ... On the other hand, many people may argue that by hacking into the shooter s iPhone it would increase national security. But, The Fourth Amendment was meant to protect Americans from illegal searches. This means that police or other law enforcement can t search your home, car, or clothing without permission from a court. It also guarantees Americans right to privacy... It doesn t say that a person s home or belongings can t be searched at all. It does say that the government must have a good reason for the search, or probable cause. The first is the history and development of law enforcement, the hiring of, training of, and career paths of law enforcement officers, and last the various styles and primary operational strategies of today s law enforcement agencies. The history of criminal justice system has come a long way from 1653 to where we are now in present day. America was built on the idea that government will not be centralized. That is why the Constitution developed a government divided into three branches. Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The purpose for a government divided into three branches is to limit the power of the government. The same idea is what created the criminal justice system in which we have in today s time. The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 limit the power of local law enforcement, and restricts the government from using military personal to inforce laws on US soil. • 49. Discrimination Quotes In Frankenstein Discrimination in Frankenstein Have you ever discriminated against someone or been discriminated against because you were different? Frankenstein is a book that explores society and human behavior when someone different is introduced. It says that humans are not always willing to introduce someone new to their society and that sometimes they tend to discriminate against the different one. To show this, the writer used a monster which was introduced to a human society. This monster is rejected everywhere he goes because of his difference. He is rejected by his creator, and then he is rejected by the villagers, by the farmers who the monster had so long admired and in the end by the reader himself. Unable to endure the aspect of the being I had created, I rushed out of the room . The writer uses this quote to show that the creator, in this case Victor Frankenstein, is the first to reject the monster as he rushes out of the room. Victor had worked day and night trying to create an individual that would be and would look like a human. Once Victor had finished creating this monster he realized how not human like the monster was and decided to reject him as the book states: I had desidered it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had finished the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror filled my heart ..
