Medieval Weather Patterns
When exploring Europe, Medieval Europe comes to mind. During the Medieval times, the people
began to take on changes. Growth and recovery became major during these times, especially
agriculturally. Weather patterns, society, technological innovations, and agriculture all play
important roles to each other. When thinking weather patterns, one must think why would weather
patterns play a major role? Weather patterns in Europechanged drastically during the medieval
years. Europe would experience harsh, cold weather and warm weather. During the medieval times,
the people had no measuring systems. The people would use natural findings. Some of the natural
findings were lake sediment, arctic ice, tree rings, and any other things of nature. They also made
predictions based on the farmers techniques, cold springs meant late planting (Johnston, 2016b).
Along with natural findings, human behavior and society was also examined and held relations to

The society was split up into the clergy, aristocrats, and the commoners. The religious part of
society were the clergy people. The clergy followed the pope, the head of the church. The
aristocrats were the knights in the society, also known as the men of war (Spielvogel, 2013). And
the last of the society are the commoners. The commoners consisted of peasant farmers (Salisbury,
2016). The commoners played the biggest role in relations to the weather. Since the commoners
were the farmers, they were affected more than the others. They would sometimes become
rebellious and belligerent because of the weather changes. The weather patterns caused some of the
people to switch in moods. Despite the affects the weather patterns had on the people, they began to

Olive Oil
a lofty ambition and was shared by the true hotel servers he came to know.
The Rooms, Executive, referred to as Olive Oil, was perfectly put together. She was the mistress of
Mr. Suave, and the first in a long line of Kiva servers, commonly referred to as Brown Nose servers
that Japes became involved with. These Brown Nose servers did anything they could to keep their
bosses happy, but rarely had a clue on doing their own job. Server s like Olive Oil were scattered
within the hotel world, and although these ingratiating tactics were obvious, the irony was if they
applied these efforts towards what needed to be done they could have been successful. Inevitably,
this selective behavior came back to bite them.
During a quiet weekend, Japes worked the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Suave s office. Japes, I have been asked to offer you a position as an executive back in your neck
of the woods. It is a smaller hotel, but has an excellent reputation within the community. I told my
counterpart back in the Land of Empires that you were loyal and easily took on responsibility.
Thank you. I truly appreciate the promotion, said Japes. It was wise to have never spoken to
anyone about Mr. Suave s drinking indiscretion and Olive Oil s incompetence. Both his abilities as a
manager and as a confidante distinguished him from the pack. He was on his way to the Land of
Empires, and unlike his last few stops, he would be working in a resort environment. He was
stoked for his first real executive position, and he started down the road to a small world away
from the hustle and bustle of the major city. Again, although destined to leave his fellow servers
who he had grown so close to, he knew it was the smart thing to do. The separation from yet
another gang was painful for the bond between servers was strong, as every day for years they
worked together to please others. The life developed into a true art, a true dedication, and a true

Michigan Water
Water Essay
The state of Michigan has so many interesting facts. Those facts include the well known Great
Lakes and how it Influences the population and the environment. Also, an important fact is that
Michigan came into being through erosion and the formation from huge glaciers. Over the years,
many plants and animals came into existence in the both the Upper Peninsula and Lower
Peninsula. The state is one of leaders in the areas of production and manufacturing. Natives and
settlers came over to utilize the land and make it what the state is today, Michigan. Michigan is a
state that borders on four out of the five Great Lakes. Those lakes ... Show more content on

This geological landscape was the Great Ice Age. Michigan was affected by the Wisconsin Glacier
which was an extremely huge ice mass. It stretched from its tip of the Hudson Bay, and its
bottom down by the lower end of the Ohio River. While the climate was changing and not
warming up, the meltwater from the glacier carried rocks and soils afar. This created low hills
across the state of Michigan. The grinding of boulders created particles of various sizes and
weight. The heaviest pieces fell first. These pieces formed ridges, which in turn formed flowing
streams. The weight of that glacier over Michigan was gradually becoming smaller. The earth
began to act like a sponge. The Michigan landscape began to emerge. Plants began to spring up on
the landscape and formed into suitable growing environments. These environments made it a place
for communities to start growing and to become prosperous with

Bring Back Flogging By Jeff Jacoby
An Analysis for Bring Back Flogging
In the essay written by Jeff Jacoby in Bring back Flogging The article is about how our prisons are
over populated with people that are in there because of the none violence crime, which make the
inmates to have higher chance of getting rape, beaten, or murder rather than getting whipped and
embarrassment in public, that could help them to make better choice in the future and also teaches
the public to behave the way that is acceptable in the society. Plus the cost that is associated with
these inmates to keep them in prison that cost the tax payers millions of dollars every year.
Jeff Jacoby uses a lot of his own opinion, in some instances he used what John Dilulio, who is a

What Gatchel says makes a lot of sense, that states being under budget for the prisons due to the
over population and since the income of a prison comes from tax payers, there is only so much
that jails can take to take care of the inmates. What he is suggesting is why not going back to the
old school ways of dealing with nonviolent crime, which costs a lot less than $30,000 a year to just
whippet someone.
I come from a country that they still handle small criminals the old ways, and big time criminals are
the only people that end up in jail, therefore when it comes to budgeting at the beginning of the
year, the country has more money to invest towards the people, rather than the criminals that are
part of the noncontributing part of the society.
The opposing issue that I can think of would be that some people might say that it is a cruel way
to treat someone when you degrade them in public, but what they don t realize is that when people

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Written Contracts
The law recognizes that legally binding contracts can be written, verbal, or a mixture of both.
However, for business purposes, written contracts are usually preferred due to the following
reasons: The contents ( terms ) are in writing for all to see They can ensure that precise language is
used in describing the terms of the agreement There is, therefore, less opportunity for
misunderstandings and conflicting assumptions There is less need to rely on memories of what
was originally agreed The individuals involved in the transaction may change over time. Written

that all the terms of the agreement are contained in the written document... Show more content on

An agreement which was legally enforceable when entered into but which has become void due
to supervening impossibility of performance for example a contract between a citizen of
Pakistan and India is a valid contract during pesce but if war brakes out between two countries,
the agreement will become void contract. 3. Void Agreements. According to section 2 (g), An
agreement which is not enforceable by law but either of the parties is void. No lagel rights or
obligations can arise out of a void agreemant. It is void ab initio i.e. from its very inception, for
example an agreement without consideration or with a minor. 4. Voidable Contract. According to
Section 2 (i), An Agreement which is enforceable by law at the option of one or more parties but
not at the option of the other or others is a voidable contracts. Note that the word used here is
contract and not just agreement . Thus is the result of absence of free consent in the contract. This
is so because the rights and duties are created and the was not free but was obtained by coercion,
undue influence, fraud, misrepresentation. The other party who include the consent take advantage
of his own fraud because He who comes into Equity (i.e. before law) must come with clean hands.
Thus a voidable contract valid and enforceable until the party repudiates it entitled to avoid

Milleneration And Generation Z And The Post-Millennial...
Millennials are defined to have been born somewhere between the mid to late 80s till the early
to mid 90s, whereas Generation Z is characterized to have been born between 1995 till about
now. Therein lies a large area for differences between the two generations. I was born on the tail
end of 1999 meaning I was technically born in the Gen Z era, but I sometimes see myself relating
to Millennials I see online or in mainstream media. I will discuss both generations and then decide
where I most see myself.
Generation Z, the Post Millennial generation take up a decent sized chunk of the US population.
They are also referred to as the iGeneration or Gen Tech. You rarely hear of this generation as
they are usually overshadowed by the previous gen (Millennials). But Gen Z ers are a group all
their own. George Beall of the Huffington Post states that Gen Z processes information faster...
Thus their attention spans might be significantly lower than Millennials but that despite being less
focused as compared to Millennials Gen Z can quickly and efficiently shift between work and
play, with multiple distractions going on in the background . I can personally see myself a little in
this, I have a terribly short attention span but I can t really multitask. Beall also states that
Generation Z desires more independent work environments , implying that they lean more towards
entrepreneurial work. I can t relate to this, I thrive off of at least a little structure, I m not good in the

What Is Sherman Alexie s The Absolutely True Diary Of A...
When it comes to societies, all of them have their own customs. These customs force the people
of each society to conform to specific standards in order to get along. Usually they have two types
of rules; these are written and unwritten. The majority of the rules are written so that people will
be more likely to follow them. On the other hand, unwritten rules are used to guide communication
on a more personal level. This can be seen in the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time
Indian by Sherman Alexie. The author uses the story of a bullied Indian named Junior who decides
to go against societal norms and attend an all white school in order to challenge the views of each
community. In this story, the Indians often resort to violence when faced with something that
threatens their culture, or way of life. They see the fact... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On Junior s first day at Reardan he already starts to notice this difference. The whites, when faced
with their first Indian student, are a little afraid so they resort to what they were always taught
to do when faced with an unfamiliar situation. They start to insult him by calling him names like
Chief and Red Skin. They also did this because they feared Junior. While explaining his first day
at Reardan he says, None of those guys punched me or got violent. After all, I was a reservation
Indian, and no matter how geeky and weak I appeared to be, I was still a potential killer. So
mostly they called me names. Lots of names (Alexie 63). This shows that they fear him just as
much as he fears them. Soon, they realize he is not a threat to them, and they quickly became
friends with him. This is shown when the Reardan crowd cheered Junior on after seeing the way
the Indians treated him at the first basketball game. They also booed the Indian team upon their
arrival to the Reardan gym. This shows how the whites use a verbal approach to deal with

Extinction Of Megafauna
Same ecological extinction happened when humans migrated to America 16,000 years ago. When
the northeastern Siberia and northwestern Alaska were connected due to low sea level, Homo
sapiens migrated to Alaska. When the glaciers melted after 2000 years since their arrival in Alaska,
people were able to travel to rest of the United States and eventually to South America. On their path
to South America, humans led to extinction of 34 out of 48 genera of large mammals in North
Americaand 50 out of 60 genera in South America (Harari, 2015). Barnosky et al. (2016) also

With agriculture came domestication. Domestication is defined as humans changing the
environment and the ecosystems within the environment in order to make the Earth safer for
humans and to gain more beneficial and productive goods and services (Kareiva et al., 2007).
Domestication can be categorized to two big branches: domestication of plants and domestication
of animals. Humans facilitated domestication of plants through agricultural practices. Through
artificial selection, humans chose domesticate plants with traits that are most advantageous for
humans survival, usually those that yield the most food (Young, 2016). When these traits are
selected repeatedly, domesticated crops resulted in differing both physiologically and
morphologically from its ancestor species. Domestication suggests enlargement of plant structure.
Bigger plant structure prompts an increase in abundance and likelihood of herbivores that may
feed off of these domesticated crops. Increase in seed size also negatively correlates with toughness
of seed coat. This relationship indicates that more parasites are able to prey on these weak
domesticated crops (Chen, 2015). Shang et al. (2014) also establish a specific example and write
that humans have purposefully domesticated cucumbers without the bitter taste, which protected
the species from herbivores. Without the bitter taste, the cucumber species is now defenseless
against herbivores

The World Is Too Much With Us Annotation
For this discussion, I would like to look at The World Is Too Much with Us by William
Wordsworth. I think that this poem fits the Italian sonnet category. To support this claim, the first
8 lines (octave) present a problem. Also, the first 8 lines follow the abbaabba form. The first line
ends with the word soon (a), the second line ends with the word powers (b), the third line ends with
the word ours (b), and the fourth line ends with the word boon (a). This same scheme continues
throughout the next 5 lines as well. Because of this rhyming scheme, I believe it is an Italian Sonnet
. One thing I really liked about this poem was the title. I read it and thought that it sounded funny
because I would think that it would say The World Is Too Much

sector companies are not set up to make profit but rather to help people of the country by

private sector, private sector companies are owned by individual or individulas, these comaines are
set up to genartate profit either through providing a product or service, these are the most common

Western Influence on Kuwait
Kuwait and Western influence Over the past decades, Kuwait, like most Islamic countries have
practiced strict measures in terms of their governance system with lots of times the religious
aspect influencing greatly the kind of government in place and the type of governance that is used
within Kuwait. This resulted in a closed, less democratic, religious, stereotypical and generally
patriarchal society. This has however undergone a lot of change particularly with the embracing of
the Western culture that is more open, diverse and liberal in nature. Positives of western culture
interaction More democratic space Western culture has had far reaching effects on many aspects
of lives of the Kuwaiti in the sense that people have become more open minded and the society
has turned from suppressing the women, both domestically and socially, to embracing them and
liberating them to make choices and participate in social events like men do. Ladies currently
enjoy a lot of freedom with regard to what they put on and how they express themselves. Kuwaitis
have also adopted modern pop culture something that was unheard of in the past. They have
developed a sense of taste for whatever they buy, whatever they listen to, what they eat, watch, what
they do on their bodies, hair and teeth. It is paradoxical that when Kuwait gained her independence
from the United Kingdom in 1961, her citizens proclaimed liberation, when in actual sense there
was none of it. Women in particular had to

The Theme Of Symbolism In A Hanging By George Orwell
Literature is a complex form of expression, that can be used by writers as a tool to convey
simplistic entertaiment; create mythical and fantastical worlds that escape the limitations of
mankind or as an art form that enables a very cable few to challenge an entire school of thought
and traditions, one of these peculiar few was a man known as George Orwell. Orwell was the
pseudonym of Eric A. Blair, a man who opposed the oppressive values of totalitarian esque
political systems and cherished the idealistic political notions of equality, which can be seen
across his diverse repertoire of work. This is especially highlighted in his anecdotal short essay A
Hanging , where Orwell retails a story of his time in the British police corps which serves... Show

In his anecdotal short essay, Orwell uses characters as lenses to explore the core themes of
rebellion and depravity found in his writing. To clarify, Orwell shows the effects of the british
colonial system through the actions of the characters and the language used for their descriptions.
For example, characters of indigenous origin to the colonies are defined on the basis of their
religion or race. This illustrates the stereotypical fashion in which colonists defined natives.
Similarly, Orwell use negative imagery and pathetic fallacy to dehumanise and belittle the prisoners
in the story. As illustrated by quotes such as like animal cages and squatted in long rows , which
compare the prisoners to animals ,thus garnering a sympathetic response from the audience and
illustrates the severity of the condemned men s plight. Moreover, the dehumanization of the
prisoners may reflect the way in which the narrator and other characters in position of power
distance themselves from the acts they are committing. To illustrate, when preparing the prisoner
for the execution he is treated as an object, a chore that must be completed in order for the
characters to progress as opposed to an individual facing a grim end. Yet, during the execution the
prisoner is described as higher being, he s acceptance of death is a force that terrorises the other
characters, thus belittling them and showing the negative effect that the event has on their psyche.
In contrast, Orwell uses speech patterns and burmese terms to illustrate the effect colonisation has
on the culture of its colonised states. For examples, native characters of higher authority emulate
their British counterparts in their names and

The Pros And Cons Of Banning The Armalite Rifle
The AR 15 (ArmaLite Rifle) is a modern sporting rifle that has been a main controversy in America
which dominates the gun control conversation. With the mass shootings that occurred in the
previous years, the AR 15 was the dominant weapon used in these tragedies. This semi automatic
rifle is classified by the media as an assault riflein which it is not because the AR 15 is not
automatic. The supporters of banning the AR 15 and Gun Control believe that it will stop mass
shootings from happening, but there is no evidence that banning any assault weapon would prevent
mass shootings. The AR 15 should not be banned because the Second Amendment of the United
StatesConstitution protects individual gun ownership. This weapon is mainly used for hunting and

People who are against this rifle being legal often ask supporters of the rifle Is it necessary to
use this weapon outside of military combat? . The AR 15 is one of the most popular rifles of all
time and it is used by many American hunters because of the rifles effectiveness. The AR 15 is
effective when hunting due to the higher magazine capacity and quicker fire power compared
to other standard bolt action hunting rifles. The opposing side would argue that it is not
necessary to have a quicker fire rate for hunters, but the AR 15 is needed for farmers who are
having their farms ruined by wild hogs. Many farmers are losing thousands of acres of crops as
well as money due to a high population of wild hogs. People believe that you should only use a
bolt action rifle, but when there are dozens of wild hogs destroying your crops, it is necessary to
use a semi automatic rifle. The AR 15 in this case would be able to kill many wild animals faster
than a standard bolt action rifle that takes longer to shoot and is less

Summary Of Albert Camus s The Plague
A Greek philosopher, Thucydides, once said The secret to happiness is freedom... And the secret to
freedom is courage (Thucydides). Albert Camus, much like Nietzsche did not believe that death,
suffering, or the human existence had any underlying moral or rational meaning due to the fact that
he did not believe in God or even an afterlife for that matter. Nietzsche made those who read his
Twilight of the Idols question the very premises of religion and what we think we know. Camus
believed that humanbeings, as mortals, live under an irrational and an absurd death sentence,
never really being able to live a free and meaningful life. Yet, Camus still believed that people were
capable of giving their lives meaning and finally living their lives freely. In Albert Camusnovel The
Plague, the people of Oran believed that they were free, that is true, in the technical definition of
freedom, but were they really free before the plague occured? Perhaps Camus and Nietzsche are
asking human beings, how are they really free if they are living their lives in constant routines and
believing in a God that they do not even know exists or not.
The irony in Albert Camus The Plague is in Camus method of freedom . Much like other human
beings the citizens of Oran were strictly disciplined by an instinctive enslavement to their habitual
routines, prisoners of these routines. Correspondingly, Camus makes readers question whether the
citizens of Oran were really alive, only when they are separated from their friends and families
because due to the quarantine of the plague is when they actually feel the love and need for them,
before the plague, they sadly took their loved ones for granted. Unfortunately, it took for the
citizens to be removed from their significant others to actually see the love they actually feel for
one another, and perhaps after they realize that it is the push they needed to find the meaning and
give meaning to their boring mundane life.
Nietzsche forces readers to cease to believe in the very thing that we base our reasoning on. Take
our morality for instance, humans treat morality like a sacred being, because we believe that there
is a higher celestial being or a God. Humanity is being called into

Overview of Haute Couture Haute couture is high end fashion that is constructed by hand from
start to finish, made from high quality, expensive, often unusual fabric and sewn with extreme
attention to detail and finished by the most experienced and capable sewers, often using time
consuming, hand executed techniques. Couture is a French word that means dressmaking in
English but may also refer to fashion, sewing, or needlework and is also used as a common
abbreviation of haute couture and refers to the same thing in spirit. Haute translates literally to high

Implementation Of Light Fidelity ( Li Fi ) On 3rd Gen...
Abstract: This paper explains an idea for implementation of Light Fidelity (Li Fi) on 3rd Gen
Modular projects (such as Oil Gas, chemicals, petrochemicals, power plants and other processing
industries). In particular, it will show how the application of Li Fi on 3rd Gen Modular project
avoids all the instrument wiring systems and Wi Fi(Wireless Fidelity) based wireless instrument
problems and reduces the life cycle cost of instrumentation system. The implementation of optical
wireless instrument communication systems on 3rd Gen Modular projects will result in enhanced
wireless capacity to realize Industrial Internet of Things (I2oT) and contribute to the key
performance indicators for the 4th Gen. Modularization and beyond. The availability of Li Fi
communication system provides multiple benefits over wired and Wi Fi based wireless
instrumentation systems. The paper covers all the key areas of engineering, design and
construction/fabrication, deliverables requirement, while implementing Li Fi on modularization
projects to achieve the plants requirement in an optimized way.

Agile software development methodology
Agile development is a term used in software development to describe incremental software
development methodologies. It is a type of incremental model because, in incremental model the
whole requirement is separated into many separated builds. Here, the software is developed in
incremental, rapid cycles resulting in small incremental releases with each release building on its
former functionality. Each release is critically tested to make sure that the software quality is
maintained.
The phrase agile refers to a software development methodology which promotes a project
environment for adaptation, rapid delivery and client focus, self organization and team work. Agile

Essay on Overview of John Demos s Unredeemed Captive
The Unredeemed Captive tells a story of struggles a family went through to stay true to one
another. Eunice Williams was taken captive and family went through many obstacles to try and
get her home. Both Eunice and her family were captured together along with many other town
residents in the Deerfield Massacre of 1704. Demos precisely described the Deerfield raid along
with the process of traveling to Canada. Throughout the book, Demos also covered some
individual captive experiences and events. Demos showed the life of Eunice before her life was
changed and how it would be if she was not taken. He stated why the raid was the way it was and
showed the success of it.

The three hundred mile journey to Montreal has begun. As this moment, The Williamses know
they are destined for a march . . . into a strange land, as prisoners (Demos 19). Things began to get
rough as the trail elongated. Out of all the captives, only ninety two captives survived the actual
march to Canada. Many of the captives were killed along the journey. Many were women including
John Williams wife. Before the captives reached Canada, the group split into smaller groups. They
all ended up going in separate destinations. As days and months eventually went by, the Williams
children along with many other remaining captives were eventually dispersed amongst the
numerous participating Indians tribes. Upon coming to New France, the prisoners were sold to the
French, and later exchanged for release by the governors of the English and French colonies.
For John Williams, he was redeemed by the French governor. There would be no hope of his
children being released for a while. Not until Mr. Williams made his way back to New England,
which ended up being almost three years he eventually got the French governor to release all of
his children after a negotiation. Only one was left captive, her name was Eunice. She ended up
staying a captive for many years at the starting age of six years old. The Kahnawake Indian tribe
took her and refused to sell her to the French.

Report on Leasing vs. Purchasing The benefits of leasing Computer equipment vs. purchasing
Summary
The company needs to upgrade its computer equipment. There are two upgrade paths to consider.
In this proposal, we demonstrate how equipment leases take advantage of the benefits of reduced
depreciation and taxation, easy scalability, reduction of IT staff usage, reduced energy costs, and
reduction of capital spending. The company can free up money overall and maintain better control
of the IT budget by leasing. The cost of equipment is spread out over a 3 year period by leasing.

Computer technology evolves rapidly. There is a distinct advancement year to year. Computers
handle more processing power, use less energy, and depreciate like rocks falling off Pike s Peak.
Leasing helps prevent obsolescence. It offers an opportunity to upgrade equipment for a fraction of
the cost of purchasing. With better equipment, the company stays ahead of the IT curve and
improves on productivity from all departments that utilize the in house private network. IT
equipment has an expected useful life of five to eight years.

The major role of the project manager or team is to lead all processes and participants of a given
project. In satisfying this role, the project manager or team has the difficult task of predicting
project schedules and budgets, including possible setbacks that may adversely impact them. Where
setbacks are encountered, the project manager or team should strive to compensate for these, to
bring the project within agreed requirements. For example, recent recipients of the Project of the
Year Award in 2009 and 2010 demonstrated their ability to achieve project goals despite significant
setbacks.
In 2009, the Newmont TS Power Plant Project faced challenges from a difficult economic landscape
in 2004 and an environment with unparalleled demand for technical resources and construction
labor, while operating in a remote location. The project management team adopted a risk
management approach and focused on high performance teamwork. The former approach, with risk
management and mitigation, is among core strategies advocated by the Project Management
Institute. The latter attribute, regarding the level of teamwork, was enhanced by adopting many
team building sessions, and by valuing a clear vision for the goals expected by all stakeholders in
the project. Goals were assessed on many aspects, including schedule, quality, safety, and
sustainability. The Project of the Year Award recipients described their project management strategy

The Rule of the Major Generals
The Major General rule was an idea by Cromwell to help reduce the threat of royalist conspiracy
and to help further his need for healing and settling . However, the rule lasted less than a year due
its unpopularity and lack of support from the local gentry. In addition, the Major Generals
themselves were either inconsistent in their application of the aims or were negligent in their
duties. Furthermore, the unrealistic aims of the rule set them up for failure before the rule had
even begun, historian Farr comments on the limits of the generals power and the fact that it s no
wonder the rule failed as the scope of the tasks were impossible to fulfil.
Whilst all of these factors play a part in the failure of the Major Generals rule, the most significant
is its negligence by the Major Generals themselves. Its unpopularity and unrealistic aims could have
been overcome if every generals was both optimistic about their role and fully committed to the
cause. The lack of responsibility of the Major Generals led to the public not thinking they could
support the rule, and rather than help the rule, cause its demise. Farr further suggests that it was its
practical failure, rather than alleged unpopularity which led to the rule failing. However, Sharp
explains that the establishment of the Major Generals did more to alienate the gentry than any other
move and in terms on of healing and settling , it was a disaster.
The rule of the Major Generals was not popular, the gentry deeply

Taking a Look at Graphic Novels
Graphic novels are seen to be successful to those who don t like reading pages of words upon
words, but instead acting more like a comic book with semi detailed pictures that help the reader
envision the author s intended view. Although, they do have their limitations on being condensed
and lacking details that could allow the reader to fully understand characters in the environment of
the novel. With graphic novels, history is a great use to portray many important events such as
the Boxer Rebellion in China and provide a novel that can inform an audience of the history and
reasoning behind the event. As a whole graphic novels are best in that they can get a point across
to the reader much more efficiently than a wordy novel, but not with it s limitations of being
condensed in nature and lacking the extra details needed to understand the characters in the story.
Therefore, graphic novels reach a wide set of audiences, remains strong in providing voice and
portraying it s setting, but is weak with characterization and providing sufficient detail to the
understanding of a historic event. To obtain a wider range of an audience, graphic novels will just
do that. Graphic novels have many positives to the reader that it helps the reader view the novel in
the author s light of thinking. Graphic novels illustrate the scene in comic strip form that only
narrative is needed to bring the images to life. In Boxers and Saints, the story of Bao and Vibiana
is illustrated so beautifully

Good Morning Vietnam Analysis
In Good Morning Vietnam, the movie shows the story Adrian Cronauer and his experience as a
radio DJ in 1965 Vietnam. In the movie, Adrian is a witty and impulsive comic that likes to do
his own thing which does not go over well with the General Major who is in charge. However,
Adrian s comedy and wit help to make his radio shows entertaining for the troops and he becomes
respected among many of the men in the army. Although Adrian is censored, he still tried to inform
the troops and went against the normal protocol. Good MorningVietnamgives a unique look into the
war and shows the frustration of both sides. The only villains that seem to arise are the ones who
hold Adrian back or the ones who are confused and angry at the misfortunate that had fallen upon
their home in Vietnam. Overall, this movie showed the good and bad sides of the war while also
giving an inside look into the experience of one man. The movie helped to showcase the main
themes of conflict in war, censorship of the news and events, and confusion among civilians and
soldiers.
Although this movie does not showcase the time period using clothing or unique hairstyles, it
reflects the 60s through the different music that Adrian includes in his radio station. Adrian plays
songs from James Brown, the Beach Boys, and references icons of the time such as the Beatles and
the Rolling Stones. The rebellious nature of the music reflects not only Adrian s attitude, but also
the rebellion against the war that took off

The, The Gender Knot, By Allan G. Johnson
The biological sex of a person, in most cases, today can still be considered one of the main
identifying characteristics of an individual. In the past the sex of a person was more than an
identifying characteristic, it was who they were. They were either men or women, there was no in
between or changing it. Society today has come a long way in terms of genderidentity and gender
roles, but the concept of patriarchy still has the upper hand when it all boils down. Allan G.
Johnson s, The Gender Knot, provides for a more diverse outlook on the women s expected
roles in life, how they are expected to handle difficult situations in marriage, and how they
demonstrate courage, in Mona Lisa Smile. For years the expected roles of women have been
confined to such things as, housekeeping, cooking, and child care, in the majority of the cultures

limits such as those. In this movie the women are expected to attend college and make excellent

When looking into different political theories there are many different views and even more

This forced British radicals, from the 1790s to the 1820s to emphasize the importance of natural
rights and popular sovereignty in areas concerning government.
Now that we understand the liberalist side of things, let s look into the socialist government.
Socialism emphasizes much different views compared to liberalism. Socialism is based on the
theory of collectivism meaning human beings are social by nature, not individuals, and society
should respect this and refrain from acting in an individualistic manner. It also believes in public
ownership of property by society and government, not individuals, which gives controls of
production and property of most companies to the government. Furthermore, the socialistic idea of
central economic planning replaces any free market liberal view of class and wealth. This allows
the government to own and control the economy in an attempt to make everyone equal in terms of
wealth and standards of living. This promotes the idea of economic equality among citizen s instead
forcing people to work for what they have because it supports wealth redistribution.
People of a Socialist government rely heavily on their government in terms of control the means of
production such as manufacturing and agriculture. Socialist governments are also responsible for
and control their countries economic systems within the central government. An example of a
socialist government is The Socialist Republic of Vietnam, an ancient empire,

Illicit Drug Trafficking
Role of social network structure in illicit drug trafficking in Columbia
By Preeti Kanther Over the past three decades, the US has spent more than a trillion dollars to
curtail drug industry operations in Latin America. During 1980s, Peru, Bolivia and Columbia used
to contribute 65%, 25% and 10% toward the overall coca production globally. Since then, due to
many US funded war efforts on drugs in these neighboring Andean countries, drug industry in
Columbia got a tremendous boost, increasing its market share to 90% and making it the world s
largest cocaine producer ever by 2000. Between 2000 and 2010, US invested close to $7.3bn on
military and economic aid to eradicate coca production and cocaine trafficking. The project ... Show

It s hard to understand the direction of information flow or where the authority resides in a
network which is flexible and constantly changing, which makes it harder for law enforcements to
devise any strategic moves and predict the outcome. The network structure seemed to be really
dense in the core with a lot of small organizations representing as closures3 which are tied to each
other through brokers or middlemen making hefty profits in between by providing services through
constant access of new information. The strength of intra network operations lies in the hands of
these brokers. They could be very well characterized as connectors4. Think of the network structure
as really dense in the core and spreading outwards on the periphery through weak ties. The weak
ties enable the network to expand and contract itself depending on the market situation. 5 The core
members treat each other with high degree of trust and belongingness, making it extremely hard for
any outsider or law enforcement people to tap into the network and access any information about
their operations. It took almost four decades for the network to come

How Did Hitler Gain Power
Adolf Hitler was born on the 20th of April in 1889 in a small village in Austria. This little boy
would later become one of the most feared men in the entire world. A man who would
singlehandedly become responsible for the death and suffering of millions of people. How was it
possible for such a man to get all this power? Hitler became so powerful because of three factors:
The Treaty of Versailles, the German economic crisis and the use of propaganda.
The Treaty of Versailles was an important catalyst for Hitler s rise to power. On 28 July 1919 the
Treaty of Versailles was signed by the Weimar Republic. This caused Germanyto lose a large piece
of their territory. Additionally, Germany also needed to admit guilt of the war. This made German...

With propaganda Hitler tried to convince people that the Nazi s was the only right party. In
1929 Hitler chose Josef Goebbels to be his minister of propaganda. Josef Goebbels created
campaigns with slogans and pictures which were spread throughout the country to convince and
persuade people about ideas. Hitler used propaganda in different ways. Pro Nazi s movies were
made under production of Josef Goebbels and books with Nazi propaganda were written. The
Nazi s even sent instructions to newspapers which instructed them to write anti Jewish stories.
Josef Goebbels made sure that no one could see or read something that was damaging to the Nazi
s. Books which did not match with the Nazi ideal were burned and the Nazi s even controlled the
film industry. This meant many movies idealized Hitler and the Nazi party. Hitler used propaganda
because although he won the elections, he did not have the majority of support along the people.
Therefore he wanted to ensure the people that the Nazi party was the only correct choice.
Moreover he wanted to convince people who did not support him that it was pointless to continue
with their opposition. The Nazi s use of propaganda helped Hitler to convince the German people
of his ideas. Goebbels once said: The essence of propaganda consists in winning people over to an
idea so sincerely, so vitally, that in the end they succumb to it utterly and can never escape from it.
This illustrates the importance of propaganda in winning the peoples support and subsequently

The Arguments For And Against Free Trade
Evaluate the arguments for and against Free Trade.
Free trade which is also known as laissez faire has been around since the Nineteenth century. Free
trade is a built constructive thing which allows trade to be easily transportable between nations and
states. Due to this there has been many unfair calls but also beneficial to some. Also it brings about
tension as everyone would like to input an agreement based on what suits them. This evaluation is
divided into four main sections. It will first consider what free trade is and how is operates in order
for the reader to understand the actual concept of free trade. It will then go on to describe the
arguments for and against free trade. The third part compares the two arguments and comes up with
an evaluation on the two. Finally, some conclusions will be drawn as to which evaluation has a
stronger point.
Free trade is built on the principle that if more people are freely available to engage in mutually
beneficial exchange, that this will mean the world resources are used more efficiently, more people
will become wealthy as a result. And those countries can specialise economically what they do best
and produce more efficient trade that they don t have easy to them. Economist David Ricardo
developed the term comparative advantage . Which in principle is taking advantage of what the
country makes best and concentrating on assets that the country has in order to preform best in that
product. In affect trading these products with

Alexander Mackay s Journey To The New World
The United States during the mid 19th century was a country that was just beginning to develop. To
capture what the country was like at this time, a man named Alexander Mackay journeyed from
Scotland to the United States to stay for an entire year. He argued that staying for weeks or even
months at a time was inefficient to understand the political, cultural, and environmental aspects of
the country. Therefore, a year s time was devoted to travel across the Eastern side of the United
Stateswhile visiting all of the major cities including Richmond and New York City. Being an
outsider, he strived to maintain an unbiased perspective on many things such as the slave situation
in the south to give the reader an accurate and clear picture of the states. Spending this much time
there, he was able to live with the people as opposed to existing along beside them. In... Show more

From his description, a general comparison can be made of the two cities from this time period.
The two cities differ greatly in many ways. Mackay describes Richmond as ...a small, but
certainly a very pretty town (251). When visiting New York City, he ends up visiting an
observatory which grants him a view of the entirety of the city area. The sight he sees was
described as grand and busy with activity around the bay. His initial reactions to each city very
much contrasts one another which tells us a lot about the overall feel that each city has. Mackay
takes time to describe the James River s falls and how it gives Richmond an abundant source of
water power. Previously in his trip he noticed how the water surrounding New York gave it access
to trade and incoming immigrants. New York City is located near the Erie Canal which connects it
to the Great Lakes and as a result the Mississippi River. The facts he points out shows how both
cities used the surrounding water to its own

Driver Responsibility Program Analysis
According to Oxford Dictionaries, surcharge mean: An additional charge or payment. For the
state of Texas and New Jersey, this law has been put in place for their drivers who commit a
traffic ticket offence. The Driver Responsibility Program, created in 2003, requires drivers to
pay annual surcharges on top of the fines and legal fees attached to traffic violations, such as
driving without insurance or while intoxicated. These surcharges keep people from registering
their car, getting their license and being legal on the road. This law have more illegal drivers on
the Texas roads. Drivers aren t automatically levied surcharges for minor tickets for speeding or
car accidents, but a point system is used to punish repeat offenders. If a driver accrues six points in
a three year period, a surcharge is assessed. Failure to pay results in a suspended driver s license.
Even for those who know about the payment options, though, the application process can be
burdensome, critics say. It requires applicants to get documents notarized and to provide financial
documentation, including an income tax form.
Bill Lewis testified on behalf of Mothers Against Drunk Driving , an organization that supported the
program when it was first enacted but now wants lawmakers to reform the program to better
assist the millions of drivers caught up in the surcharges. Staudt said she believes the program is
unconstitutional because it penalizes drivers twice for the same violation. Out of the 3.2 billion
dollars billed to Texas drivers only 1.2 billion dollars has been collected. The reason for this law is,
Texans has come up with a reliable revenue for trauma hospitals, YГЎГ±ez Correa (TCJC) said.

Theme Of Light In A Streetcar Named Desire
Light vs dark is a recurring theme in the play A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams.
This play circles around the main character Blanche and how she is trying to start a new life
leaving her past sins behind her. Slowly her past starts to catch up with her and eventually she has a
downfall in mental health and is sent away. Throughout this play there are many instances where
the lightand the absence of light affects the character Blanche. She finds comfort in the darkness
and it greatly influences her connection with reality, the relationship she has with Mitch, and her
slow mental decline.
The motif light vs dark is prominent because it affects relationships in the story greatly, most
noticeably Blanches relationships. When Blanche ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of the play she is nonchalant about covering up light because she feels more put
together. She tells Mitch to put a little colored paper lantern... over the lightbulb because she can
t stand a naked lightbulb (Williams 60). This shows that she still cares about not being seen in
the light but not as much as later in the play. In scene 5 she refers to the lantern covering the
light but she says soft people have got to... put a paper lantern over the light... you ve got to be
soft and attractive. And I I m fading now, she s rambling about how she is not how she was in her
youth (Williams 92). She s stating that she needs that covering of the light to be the new , more
pure and innocent, person she is trying to be. Soon this darkness that she finds comfort in turns into
shadows of grotesque and menacing form, (Williams 159) haunting her thoughts as she is slowly
grown more insane from her past catching up to her. The darkness, which was once her safety net,
has turned into her nightmare. Light vs dark accentuates every aspect of Blanche s life and, in turn,
affects the people around her. The straining of Blanche s relationship with Mitch, her crumbling
mental state, and her detachment from reality are all seen through the motif light vs dark. Without
this recurring image there would be no lies and destruction of characters. The downfall of this
character is brought by her use of darkness

Natural leader or not, it becomes natural when life depends on it. That s probably the only thing
I learnt in this rubbish excuse of a city other than not to go into one alone. Now, we just have to
exit through the forest and get back behind safe grounds. Oh, and what I just realized, probably
easier said than done. Forces have been closing in on our last known position to the enemy and
it won t be long till they could find us when the sky lights in a couple hours. We moved out as a
bunch, and taking out everyone who got in our way. Enemies noticed lights every once in a
while, but by the time they got to us, we were ghosts already. Through the forest, we had the
advantage that we were still unseen. Streaks of light, orange ones, started to appear by the time
we see the opening at the end of the dark forest. It was sunlight, and we re back to where we
started. Something I can call my home on the battlefield. I took a random shot into the horizon as
the sun appeared, dawn, and just in time. With the rail, the beautiful array of colours were about
the only thing I enjoyed on this trip. First feeling I get was relief, and then happiness took over as
we get out of our tanks and high five each other like when we win our hometown

Fear And Loathing In America By Hunter S. Thompson
From this week s reading, I chose to write analysis and synthesis of the story by Hunter S.
Thompson, Fear and loathing in America. The author narrates in the story about the event
surrounding the 9/11 and made some predictions about the possible consequences of war that are
going to start to happen due to the attack on the American soil. To state one of the author s
predictions that he said for sure will happen and what really we experienced and witness today
that his predicts are for real happening. it will be a religious war, a sort of Christian jihad, fueled
by religious hatred and led by merciless fanatics on both sides (Thompson, 2001, p.7). As the
author stated in the story, media and political figures played a major role in decorating the attack
as if it was a religious war carried out by religious extremists, who want to start a new crusade war
of the 21st century. It was never mentioned as politically motivated attack, but of rootless extremists
who want to get rid of Christianity. As a result hatred between Muslim and Christianity increased
more than ever. Since the 9/11 attack there has been an increasing... Show more content on

Queensland Bulls Research Paper
The Queensland Bulls Cricket Team Queensland s Premier Male Cricket Team Since 1882
Queensland s Cricket History Cricket can be seen in Queensland as early as 1857, two years
before its separation from New South Wales and statehood. The first inter colonial, or
representative, match was in 1864 when the Queensland XXII was beaten by the New South Wales
XI. They would record their first victory in 1875 when the Queensland XVIII beat the NSW XI.
This victory was the spark behind the formation of the Queensland Cricket Association the
following year. In 1892/93, ten years after the formation of the Queensland Bulls, they were granted
first class status, winning their inaugural first class match against NSW in that season by 14 runs.
Due to the tyranny of distance, and the fact that the players held non professional status, the
opportunities for more than a few first class competitions were limited. During the 1892/93 season
they rarely played more than two inter colonial matches.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were finally admitted to the Sheffield Shield 34 years later for the 1926/27 season. It was a
successful debut for them, defeating NSW in their first ever Shield match. Like most new teams
it was hard for them to maintain that level of competition. During the first 19 seasons they
finished last (out of the then four team competition) 15 times. Queensland has gained
momentum over the years and had gone on to win the Sheffield Shield seven times: 1995, 1997,
2000 2002, 2006, and 2012. They have also won the One Day Cups ten times: 1976, 1981 1982,
1989, 1998, 2007, and 2013 2014. Queensland also has a long history of producing players who
have represented Australia in test matches. Over the years they have produced more than 50 test
players. The Bull s

  • 2. Medieval Weather Patterns When exploring Europe, Medieval Europe comes to mind. During the Medieval times, the people began to take on changes. Growth and recovery became major during these times, especially agriculturally. Weather patterns, society, technological innovations, and agriculture all play important roles to each other. When thinking weather patterns, one must think why would weather patterns play a major role? Weather patterns in Europechanged drastically during the medieval years. Europe would experience harsh, cold weather and warm weather. During the medieval times, the people had no measuring systems. The people would use natural findings. Some of the natural findings were lake sediment, arctic ice, tree rings, and any other things of nature. They also made predictions based on the farmers techniques, cold springs meant late planting (Johnston, 2016b). Along with natural findings, human behavior and society was also examined and held relations to weather patterns.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The society was split up into the clergy, aristocrats, and the commoners. The religious part of society were the clergy people. The clergy followed the pope, the head of the church. The aristocrats were the knights in the society, also known as the men of war (Spielvogel, 2013). And the last of the society are the commoners. The commoners consisted of peasant farmers (Salisbury, 2016). The commoners played the biggest role in relations to the weather. Since the commoners were the farmers, they were affected more than the others. They would sometimes become rebellious and belligerent because of the weather changes. The weather patterns caused some of the people to switch in moods. Despite the affects the weather patterns had on the people, they began to become advance in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She was the mistress of Mr. Suave, and the first in a long line of Kiva servers, commonly referred to as Brown Nose servers that Japes became involved with. These Brown Nose servers did anything they could to keep their bosses happy, but rarely had a clue on doing their own job. Server s like Olive Oil were scattered within the hotel world, and although these ingratiating tactics were obvious, the irony was if they applied these efforts towards what needed to be done they could have been successful. Inevitably, this selective behavior came back to bite them. During a quiet weekend, Japes worked the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suave s office. Japes, I have been asked to offer you a position as an executive back in your neck of the woods. It is a smaller hotel, but has an excellent reputation within the community. I told my counterpart back in the Land of Empires that you were loyal and easily took on responsibility. Thank you. I truly appreciate the promotion, said Japes. It was wise to have never spoken to anyone about Mr. Suave s drinking indiscretion and Olive Oil s incompetence. Both his abilities as a manager and as a confidante distinguished him from the pack. He was on his way to the Land of Empires, and unlike his last few stops, he would be working in a resort environment. He was stoked for his first real executive position, and he started down the road to a small world away from the hustle and bustle of the major city. Again, although destined to leave his fellow servers who he had grown so close to, he knew it was the smart thing to do. The separation from yet another gang was painful for the bond between servers was strong, as every day for years they worked together to please others. The life developed into a true art, a true dedication, and a true love of being a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, an important fact is that Michigan came into being through erosion and the formation from huge glaciers. Over the years, many plants and animals came into existence in the both the Upper Peninsula and Lower Peninsula. The state is one of leaders in the areas of production and manufacturing. Natives and settlers came over to utilize the land and make it what the state is today, Michigan. Michigan is a state that borders on four out of the five Great Lakes. Those lakes ... It stretched from its tip of the Hudson Bay, and its bottom down by the lower end of the Ohio River. While the climate was changing and not warming up, the meltwater from the glacier carried rocks and soils afar. This created low hills across the state of Michigan. The grinding of boulders created particles of various sizes and weight. The heaviest pieces fell first. These pieces formed ridges, which in turn formed flowing streams. The weight of that glacier over Michigan was gradually becoming smaller. The earth began to act like a sponge. The Michigan landscape began to emerge. Plants began to spring up on the landscape and formed into suitable growing environments. These environments made it a place for communities to start growing and to become prosperous with ... • 6. Bring Back Flogging By Jeff Jacoby An Analysis for Bring Back Flogging In the essay written by Jeff Jacoby in Bring back Flogging The article is about how our prisons are over populated with people that are in there because of the none violence crime, which make the inmates to have higher chance of getting rape, beaten, or murder rather than getting whipped and embarrassment in public, that could help them to make better choice in the future and also teaches the public to behave the way that is acceptable in the society. Plus the cost that is associated with these inmates to keep them in prison that cost the tax payers millions of dollars every year. Jeff Jacoby uses a lot of his own opinion, in some instances he used what John Dilulio, who is a Princeton criminologist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What Gatchel says makes a lot of sense, that states being under budget for the prisons due to the over population and since the income of a prison comes from tax payers, there is only so much that jails can take to take care of the inmates. What he is suggesting is why not going back to the old school ways of dealing with nonviolent crime, which costs a lot less than $30,000 a year to just whippet someone. I come from a country that they still handle small criminals the old ways, and big time criminals are the only people that end up in jail, therefore when it comes to budgeting at the beginning of the year, the country has more money to invest towards the people, rather than the criminals that are part of the noncontributing part of the society. The opposing issue that I can think of would be that some people might say that it is a cruel way to treat someone when you degrade them in public, but what they don t realize is that when people ... • 7. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Written Contracts The law recognizes that legally binding contracts can be written, verbal, or a mixture of both. However, for business purposes, written contracts are usually preferred due to the following reasons: The contents ( terms ) are in writing for all to see They can ensure that precise language is used in describing the terms of the agreement There is, therefore, less opportunity for misunderstandings and conflicting assumptions There is less need to rely on memories of what was originally agreed The individuals involved in the transaction may change over time. • 8. Milleneration And Generation Z And The Post-Millennial... Millennials are defined to have been born somewhere between the mid to late 80s till the early to mid 90s, whereas Generation Z is characterized to have been born between 1995 till about now. Therein lies a large area for differences between the two generations. I was born on the tail end of 1999 meaning I was technically born in the Gen Z era, but I sometimes see myself relating to Millennials I see online or in mainstream media. I will discuss both generations and then decide where I most see myself. Generation Z, the Post Millennial generation take up a decent sized chunk of the US population. They are also referred to as the iGeneration or Gen Tech. You rarely hear of this generation as they are usually overshadowed by the previous gen (Millennials). But Gen Z ers are a group all their own. George Beall of the Huffington Post states that Gen Z processes information faster... Thus their attention spans might be significantly lower than Millennials but that despite being less focused as compared to Millennials Gen Z can quickly and efficiently shift between work and play, with multiple distractions going on in the background . I can personally see myself a little in this, I have a terribly short attention span but I can t really multitask. • 9. What Is Sherman Alexie s The Absolutely True Diary Of A... When it comes to societies, all of them have their own customs. These customs force the people of each society to conform to specific standards in order to get along. Usually they have two types of rules; these are written and unwritten. The majority of the rules are written so that people will be more likely to follow them. On the other hand, unwritten rules are used to guide communication on a more personal level. This can be seen in the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. The author uses the story of a bullied Indian named Junior who decides to go against societal norms and attend an all white school in order to challenge the views of each community. In this story, the Indians often resort to violence when faced with something that threatens their culture, or way of life. They see the fact... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On Junior s first day at Reardan he already starts to notice this difference. The whites, when faced with their first Indian student, are a little afraid so they resort to what they were always taught to do when faced with an unfamiliar situation. While explaining his first day at Reardan he says, None of those guys punched me or got violent. After all, I was a reservation Indian, and no matter how geeky and weak I appeared to be, I was still a potential killer. So mostly they called me names. Lots of names (Alexie 63). This shows that they fear him just as much as he fears them. Soon, they realize he is not a threat to them, and they quickly became friends with him. This is shown when the Reardan crowd cheered Junior on after seeing the way the Indians treated him at the first basketball game. They also booed the Indian team upon their arrival to the Reardan gym. This shows how the whites use a verbal approach to deal with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the northeastern Siberia and northwestern Alaska were connected due to low sea level, Homo sapiens migrated to Alaska. When the glaciers melted after 2000 years since their arrival in Alaska, people were able to travel to rest of the United States and eventually to South America. On their path to South America, humans led to extinction of 34 out of 48 genera of large mammals in North Americaand 50 out of 60 genera in South America (Harari, 2015). Barnosky et al. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With agriculture came domestication. Domestication is defined as humans changing the environment and the ecosystems within the environment in order to make the Earth safer for humans and to gain more beneficial and productive goods and services (Kareiva et al., 2007). Domestication can be categorized to two big branches: domestication of plants and domestication of animals. Humans facilitated domestication of plants through agricultural practices. Through artificial selection, humans chose domesticate plants with traits that are most advantageous for humans survival, usually those that yield the most food (Young, 2016). When these traits are selected repeatedly, domesticated crops resulted in differing both physiologically and morphologically from its ancestor species. Domestication suggests enlargement of plant structure. Bigger plant structure prompts an increase in abundance and likelihood of herbivores that may feed off of these domesticated crops. Increase in seed size also negatively correlates with toughness of seed coat. This relationship indicates that more parasites are able to prey on these weak domesticated crops (Chen, 2015). Shang et al. (2014) also establish a specific example and write that humans have purposefully domesticated cucumbers without the bitter taste, which protected the species from herbivores. Without the bitter taste, the cucumber species is now defenseless against herbivores ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The World Is Too Much With Us Annotation For this discussion, I would like to look at The World Is Too Much with Us by William Wordsworth. I think that this poem fits the Italian sonnet category. To support this claim, the first 8 lines (octave) present a problem. Also, the first 8 lines follow the abbaabba form. The first line ends with the word soon (a), the second line ends with the word powers (b), the third line ends with the word ours (b), and the fourth line ends with the word boon (a). This same scheme continues throughout the next 5 lines as well. Because of this rhyming scheme, I believe it is an Italian Sonnet . One thing I really liked about this poem was the title. I read it and thought that it sounded funny because I would think that it would say The World Is Too Much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Western Influence on Kuwait Kuwait and Western influence Over the past decades, Kuwait, like most Islamic countries have practiced strict measures in terms of their governance system with lots of times the religious aspect influencing greatly the kind of government in place and the type of governance that is used within Kuwait. This resulted in a closed, less democratic, religious, stereotypical and generally patriarchal society. This has however undergone a lot of change particularly with the embracing of the Western culture that is more open, diverse and liberal in nature. Positives of western culture interaction More democratic space Western culture has had far reaching effects on many aspects of lives of the Kuwaiti in the sense that people have become more open minded and the society has turned from suppressing the women, both domestically and socially, to embracing them and liberating them to make choices and participate in social events like men do. Ladies currently enjoy a lot of freedom with regard to what they put on and how they express themselves. Kuwaitis have also adopted modern pop culture something that was unheard of in the past. They have developed a sense of taste for whatever they buy, whatever they listen to, what they eat, watch, what they do on their bodies, hair and teeth. It is paradoxical that when Kuwait gained her independence from the United Kingdom in 1961, her citizens proclaimed liberation, when in actual sense there was none of it. • 16. The Theme Of Symbolism In A Hanging By George Orwell Literature is a complex form of expression, that can be used by writers as a tool to convey simplistic entertaiment; create mythical and fantastical worlds that escape the limitations of mankind or as an art form that enables a very cable few to challenge an entire school of thought and traditions, one of these peculiar few was a man known as George Orwell. Orwell was the pseudonym of Eric A. Blair, a man who opposed the oppressive values of totalitarian esque political systems and cherished the idealistic political notions of equality, which can be seen across his diverse repertoire of work. In his anecdotal short essay, Orwell uses characters as lenses to explore the core themes of rebellion and depravity found in his writing. To clarify, Orwell shows the effects of the british colonial system through the actions of the characters and the language used for their descriptions. For example, characters of indigenous origin to the colonies are defined on the basis of their religion or race. This illustrates the stereotypical fashion in which colonists defined natives. Similarly, Orwell use negative imagery and pathetic fallacy to dehumanise and belittle the prisoners in the story. As illustrated by quotes such as like animal cages and squatted in long rows , which compare the prisoners to animals ,thus garnering a sympathetic response from the audience and illustrates the severity of the condemned men s plight. Moreover, the dehumanization of the prisoners may reflect the way in which the narrator and other characters in position of power distance themselves from the acts they are committing. To illustrate, when preparing the prisoner for the execution he is treated as an object, a chore that must be completed in order for the characters to progress as opposed to an individual facing a grim end. Yet, during the execution the prisoner is described as higher being, he s acceptance of death is a force that terrorises the other characters, thus belittling them and showing the negative effect that the event has on their psyche. In contrast, Orwell uses speech patterns and burmese terms to illustrate the effect colonisation has on the culture of its colonised states. For examples, native characters of higher authority emulate their British counterparts in their names and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This semi automatic rifle is classified by the media as an assault riflein which it is not because the AR 15 is not automatic. The AR 15 is one of the most popular rifles of all time and it is used by many American hunters because of the rifles effectiveness. The AR 15 is effective when hunting due to the higher magazine capacity and quicker fire power compared to other standard bolt action hunting rifles. The opposing side would argue that it is not necessary to have a quicker fire rate for hunters, but the AR 15 is needed for farmers who are having their farms ruined by wild hogs. Many farmers are losing thousands of acres of crops as well as money due to a high population of wild hogs. People believe that you should only use a bolt action rifle, but when there are dozens of wild hogs destroying your crops, it is necessary to use a semi automatic rifle. • 21. Summary Of Albert Camus s The Plague A Greek philosopher, Thucydides, once said The secret to happiness is freedom... And the secret to freedom is courage (Thucydides). Albert Camus, much like Nietzsche did not believe that death, suffering, or the human existence had any underlying moral or rational meaning due to the fact that he did not believe in God or even an afterlife for that matter. Nietzsche made those who read his Twilight of the Idols question the very premises of religion and what we think we know. Camus believed that humanbeings, as mortals, live under an irrational and an absurd death sentence, never really being able to live a free and meaningful life. Yet, Camus still believed that people were capable of giving their lives meaning and finally living their lives freely. In Albert Camusnovel The Plague, the people of Oran believed that they were free, that is true, in the technical definition of freedom, but were they really free before the plague occured? Perhaps Camus and Nietzsche are asking human beings, how are they really free if they are living their lives in constant routines and believing in a God that they do not even know exists or not. The irony in Albert Camus The Plague is in Camus method of freedom . Much like other human beings the citizens of Oran were strictly disciplined by an instinctive enslavement to their habitual routines, prisoners of these routines. Correspondingly, Camus makes readers question whether the citizens of Oran were really alive, only when they are separated from their friends and families because due to the quarantine of the plague is when they actually feel the love and need for them, before the plague, they sadly took their loved ones for granted. Unfortunately, it took for the citizens to be removed from their significant others to actually see the love they actually feel for one another, and perhaps after they realize that it is the push they needed to find the meaning and give meaning to their boring mundane life. Nietzsche forces readers to cease to believe in the very thing that we base our reasoning on. Take our morality for instance, humans treat morality like a sacred being, because we believe that there is a higher celestial being or a God. Humanity is being called into ... However, the rule lasted less than a year due its unpopularity and lack of support from the local gentry. In addition, the Major Generals themselves were either inconsistent in their application of the aims or were negligent in their duties. Furthermore, the unrealistic aims of the rule set them up for failure before the rule had even begun, historian Farr comments on the limits of the generals power and the fact that it s no wonder the rule failed as the scope of the tasks were impossible to fulfil. Whilst all of these factors play a part in the failure of the Major Generals rule, the most significant is its negligence by the Major Generals themselves. Its unpopularity and unrealistic aims could have been overcome if every generals was both optimistic about their role and fully committed to the cause. The lack of responsibility of the Major Generals led to the public not thinking they could support the rule, and rather than help the rule, cause its demise. Farr further suggests that it was its practical failure, rather than alleged unpopularity which led to the rule failing. However, Sharp explains that the establishment of the Major Generals did more to alienate the gentry than any other move and in terms on of healing and settling , it was a disaster. • 39. The, The Gender Knot, By Allan G. Johnson The biological sex of a person, in most cases, today can still be considered one of the main identifying characteristics of an individual. In the past the sex of a person was more than an identifying characteristic, it was who they were. They were either men or women, there was no in between or changing it. Society today has come a long way in terms of genderidentity and gender roles, but the concept of patriarchy still has the upper hand when it all boils down. Allan G. Johnson s, The Gender Knot, provides for a more diverse outlook on the women s expected roles in life, how they are expected to handle difficult situations in marriage, and how they demonstrate courage, in Mona Lisa Smile. For years the expected roles of women have been confined to such things as, housekeeping, cooking, and child care, in the majority of the cultures around the world. The expected roles of the women in, Mona Lisa Smile, are also confined to limits such as those. In this movie the women are expected to attend college and make excellent grades, all while trying to find a husband. They are to graduate from Wellesley College, but going on to further attend a graduate school is unthinkable. These women all possess the same goal, which is, to get married and then they think no further than having children. They are expected to stay at home and take care of the house and the children, while their husband is out working to provide for the family. They are above all else supposed to respect their ... This forced British radicals, from the 1790s to the 1820s to emphasize the importance of natural rights and popular sovereignty in areas concerning government. Now that we understand the liberalist side of things, let s look into the socialist government. Socialism emphasizes much different views compared to liberalism. Socialism is based on the theory of collectivism meaning human beings are social by nature, not individuals, and society should respect this and refrain from acting in an individualistic manner. It also believes in public ownership of property by society and government, not individuals, which gives controls of production and property of most companies to the government. Furthermore, the socialistic idea of central economic planning replaces any free market liberal view of class and wealth. This allows the government to own and control the economy in an attempt to make everyone equal in terms of wealth and standards of living. This promotes the idea of economic equality among citizen s instead forcing people to work for what they have because it supports wealth redistribution. People of a Socialist government rely heavily on their government in terms of control the means of production such as manufacturing and agriculture. A man who would singlehandedly become responsible for the death and suffering of millions of people. How was it possible for such a man to get all this power? Hitler became so powerful because of three factors: The Treaty of Versailles, the German economic crisis and the use of propaganda. The Treaty of Versailles was an important catalyst for Hitler s rise to power. On 28 July 1919 the Treaty of Versailles was signed by the Weimar Republic. With propaganda Hitler tried to convince people that the Nazi s was the only right party. In 1929 Hitler chose Josef Goebbels to be his minister of propaganda. Josef Goebbels created campaigns with slogans and pictures which were spread throughout the country to convince and persuade people about ideas. Hitler used propaganda in different ways. Pro Nazi s movies were made under production of Josef Goebbels and books with Nazi propaganda were written. The Nazi s even sent instructions to newspapers which instructed them to write anti Jewish stories. Josef Goebbels made sure that no one could see or read something that was damaging to the Nazi s. Books which did not match with the Nazi ideal were burned and the Nazi s even controlled the film industry. This meant many movies idealized Hitler and the Nazi party. Hitler used propaganda because although he won the elections, he did not have the majority of support along the people. Therefore he wanted to ensure the people that the Nazi party was the only correct choice. Moreover he wanted to convince people who did not support him that it was pointless to continue with their opposition. The Nazi s use of propaganda helped Hitler to convince the German people of his ideas. Free trade is a built constructive thing which allows trade to be easily transportable between nations and states. Due to this there has been many unfair calls but also beneficial to some. Also it brings about tension as everyone would like to input an agreement based on what suits them. This evaluation is divided into four main sections. It will first consider what free trade is and how is operates in order for the reader to understand the actual concept of free trade. It will then go on to describe the arguments for and against free trade. The third part compares the two arguments and comes up with an evaluation on the two. Finally, some conclusions will be drawn as to which evaluation has a stronger point. Free trade is built on the principle that if more people are freely available to engage in mutually beneficial exchange, that this will mean the world resources are used more efficiently, more people will become wealthy as a result. And those countries can specialise economically what they do best and produce more efficient trade that they don t have easy to them. • 48. Driver Responsibility Program Analysis According to Oxford Dictionaries, surcharge mean: An additional charge or payment. For the state of Texas and New Jersey, this law has been put in place for their drivers who commit a traffic ticket offence. The Driver Responsibility Program, created in 2003, requires drivers to pay annual surcharges on top of the fines and legal fees attached to traffic violations, such as driving without insurance or while intoxicated. These surcharges keep people from registering their car, getting their license and being legal on the road. This law have more illegal drivers on the Texas roads. Drivers aren t automatically levied surcharges for minor tickets for speeding or car accidents, but a point system is used to punish repeat offenders. If a driver accrues six points in a three year period, a surcharge is assessed. Failure to pay results in a suspended driver s license. Even for those who know about the payment options, though, the application process can be burdensome, critics say. It requires applicants to get documents notarized and to provide financial documentation, including an income tax form. Bill Lewis testified on behalf of Mothers Against Drunk Driving , an organization that supported the program when it was first enacted but now wants lawmakers to reform the program to better assist the millions of drivers caught up in the surcharges. Staudt said she believes the program is unconstitutional because it penalizes drivers twice for the same violation. Out of the 3.2 billion dollars billed to Texas drivers only 1.2 billion dollars has been collected.
