2. The Economic Crisis Of Boomerang Buyers
Several years ago, the United States experienced an economic disaster like no one
has ever seen before. This economic crisis left families devastated, broken and in
disbelief as they were being escorted and locked out of their homes in the presenceof
neighbors, families, and children. During the economic crisis, the current boomerang
buyers were not able to meet their financial obligations, and as a result lost their
homes to foreclosure, and many had to file bankruptcy.Purchasing a home with bad
credit is difficult, but not impossible. As these foreclosure victims try to reconstruct
their lives, it is imperative they reestablish good credit.
Many boomerang buyers cannot have imaginedliving through an experience and

Therefore, with distance (minimum two years) between the prior foreclosure event
and locating a potential new home, the boomerang buyer is facing the opportunity of
a lifetime to buy a home again(Martin).
Current boomerang buyers are opting to rent to own as a possible way to procure a
home.According to an article, entitled How to Buy A House Using A Lease, Rent
to own is a good option for foreclosure victims with poor credit (MediaWiki).Rent to
own usually require buyers to pay extra rents each month plus up front fees of about
5% of the purchase price. The regular rent then goes in owner s pocket (presumably
to pay the mortgage), but the additional payments are used to buy down the price of
the home (Christie).
The buyer should save for a down payment, address credit issues and pay off existing
debts before buying. Rent to own afford the boomerang buyers time to assess their
finances to figure out:
If they have enough money to come up with the down payment;
If they have enough money to pay the mortgage;
If they have the income to invest;
If there is enough money to meet other expenses; and
Most importantly, if they plan to stay in the house. (Christie) There are several
benefits to lease options. During the period of the lease, the boomerang buyer has
time to put their finances in order, thus reducing the stress of paying a mortgage.
Also the prospective buyer has an opportunity to improve their credit profile; a longer

3. Barbie Doll Marge Piercy
Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy
The poem Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy dramatizes the conflict between stereotyping
and perfection within society. The title accentuates the theme of the poem; the Doll
symbolizes society s interpretation of beauty and a reflection of how the girl s ideas
of this beauty shape her self worth. According to Steven Ratiner, author of Giving
Their World: Conversations with Contemporary Poets, it is Piercy s realistic
interpretations of life experience which develops the theme of her poetry: ... her
poems contain visions of a woman s struggle to take responsibility for her own life...
By comparing the young lady in the poem to a Barbie doll, the author reveals the
irony of the title. The societies within America ... Show more content on

Barbie looks blown out of proportion, she is rigid, she does not step out of line, she
just smiles and does not talk, and she does whatever her puppeteer wants of her. She
went to and fro apologizing , Robert Perrin notes the melancholic rhythmic emphasis
and depression cycle of to and fro (87). This line conveys that the girl is convinced
that Everyone saw a fat nose on thick legs (11). For the first time, the reader is
given traits of the girl that provide the countermovement for the poem (Perrin 87).
This girl tries to live up to the epitome, for she has apologized and now wants to
repair herself so she will be acceptable. This line re emphasizes the ugliness of not
measuring up to the standard of an ideal female, a standard set by society.
The third stanza Piercy transitions into adulthood. It seems as though the young girl
is reaching out for help to match with society s Barbie like expectations of her. She
is advised to play coy, / exhorted to come on hearty, / exercise, diet, smile and
wheedle (12 14). The society is giving her advice on how to appear attractive so
she is struggling to find out as to why people will not accept her for who she is.
Social restrictions accepted by society put a lot of pressure on vulnerable, young
girls who at heart want to resist the influences of dominant culture (Perrin 84). The
girl is looking for an answer that society won t give her, she has to
4. The First And Second Industrial Revolutions In France
The first and second industrial revolutions reconstructed the global economy.
Manufacturing shifted from the simple artisan shop to the massive factory. The
idea and practice of the local small business slowly faded, as the concept of
corporation grew. These corporations had a simple goal: make profit, cut
competition, repeat. Manufacturers and other large corporations did anything to
achieve this goal, and strived to do it as cheaply as possible. In order to lower
costs, they often cut workers wages. This was not received well by the employees,
who eventually fought back. Thus, the labor movement was born. France, at first, did
not take to the idea of organized labor. Tension grew between the people and the
government, until a revolution was started. After the 1848 Revolutions in France,
organized labor was legal, and the French government began to embrace the idea. A
friendly relationship between laborers and the government was cast, and it was only
to be fortified when the Third Republic was formed. The United States however, did
not face the same fate when it came to workers rights. Although labor unions were
not explicitly illegal in the United States, they were not welcomed either. Granted
under the rights of the First Amendment, people could freely protest and strike, yet
the government continuously resisted unions. The United States government took
the side of the captains of industry, and remained on this side for over a century.

Privacy on Social Networks
Tasdiq A. 11/4/2010
The privacy issues surrounding social networking sites are nothing new by any
stretch of the imagination, but it seems that many people have mismatched
expectations when it comes to privacy and social networks. Social
Network Sites (SNS) are websites that allow users to upload information to a public
profile, create a list of online friends, and browse the profiles of other users of the
SNS. The websites have membership rules and community standards. Users disclose
identity relevant information via their profile to others. This information is

to it.
Laws to minimize privacy threats
Not all threats for privacy in Social Network Sites materialize and damage users in
the same way. A risk analysis approach is needed to incorporate these insecurities
into the analysis. The experts identified multiple threats for users of Social Network
Sites. When these threats materialize, they become incidents that affect a certain
amount of people. However, not all of these incidents damage users in the same way.
The damage incurred depends on the type of threat and the perception of the user.
Laws are directed at preventing the threats from materializing. More specifically,
American tort laws create means for people to find compensations against the
damages they incurred. Experts rate to what extent the tort laws address the threats
for privacy and resulting damages they identified. The ratings of the various tort laws
are depicted in illustration below.

7. Stockhausen Life and Works
Composer Karlheinz Stockhausen was born August 22, 1928 in the small town of
Mödrath located just west of Cologne Germany. He was the first child of three
born to Simon and Gertrud Stockhausen. Early in his life, the Stockhausen family
struggled financially. Germany was in a low point of stability after WWI and most
people had trouble making ends meet. Simon Stockhausen, a teacher at the time, was
forced to move from one temporary post to another on average twice a year.
Unfortunately in 1932 when he was four years old, Stockhausen s mother Gertrud
was committed into a sanatorium. This was likely due to the depression she
encountered associated with the instability, poverty, and having three children so
close to one another. In 1935 Shortly after his wife became ill, Simon Stockhausen
was promoted to head teacher at a small village school located in Altenburg. The
newly formed Third Reich led by Adolf Hitler used him in this position to influence
the local community by spreading propaganda and organizing fundraisers for the new
movement. Karlheinz Stockhausenshowed an early interest in musicand the family
piano. The family also owned a radio that young Stockhausen listened to and
attempted to imitate. When he was seven, Karlheinz was enrolled in school and
began his first piano lessons with the organist of the local Protestant church. He
practiced often and learned to play back music he heard on the radio.
In 1939 Karlheinz was refused admission to an elite high
8. Hollywood Sexism
Power in Hollywood
Women are more than 50 percent of the population in America. Everyday woman
face sexism but, Hollywood in particular has many cases of misogynism. Despite
Hollywood projecting progressive ideas they severely lack in the sexism part.
Misogynist portrayal of women in Hollywood results from men having the power in
Hollywood.
Women are a low percent of those behind the camera. In 2014, a whopping 85
percent of films had no female directors, 80 percent had no female writers, and one
third lacked female producers, according to a San Diego State University study
(Davidson). How can there be strong women characters if there are not that many
women working behind the scenes? With the lack of women behind the camera,
the roles women play are often degrading and sexist. Women are often portrayed in
service jobs such as waitresses instead of in leadership roles. In the top 500 films
from 2007 2012, 28.8 percent of women wore sexually revealing clothes while men
only accounted for 7 percent (IndieWire). TV and movies teach girls from a young
age that they are meant to be a wife or homemaker and not much else. It is hard to
dream to be a doctor or a CEO of a big company if you do not see it when you turn
on the TV. And it is not that women are not qualified to work behind the camera, they
are just not given the chance. It is hard to change your portrayal in film and TV if you
are not the one writing the characters or directing.

9. God Created Humanity For A Purpose
Assess the claim that god created humanity for a purpose
It can be argued that god did create humanity for a purpose, as why would he
endow us with sense, reason and intellect if he intended us to forgo their use? It
therefore logically follows that we must have some purpose, hidden or not that we
are expected to fulfil, also why would the bible detail the creation of humans in such
detail as is demonstrated in genesis 2, why would god, in this story, prioritise
mankind over all others when the purpose if said entities is made apparent as
animals are made to feed man, so if god endeavoured to assign a purpose to those
supposedly subservient to mankind, why would he not give a purpose for mankind to
fulfil, why also, according to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However this is also subject to a counter argument, as perhaps it could be argued that
god has endowed us with intellect, so perhaps we are supposed to use that intellect
to discern what our purpose is, in my personal opinion, it is naГЇve to suggest that
mankind has a singular purpose, as I believe that our purpose is ever changing and
exists in a constant state of flux, as our purpose cannot be simply to worship god,
or to reproduce, no, I believe that mankind does not have a singular purpose as
such, as is implied in the question, as would god not have endowed us simply with
the qualities necessary in order to fulfil a singular purpose, therefore unless said
purpose was extremely intricate in its guidelines, we would have been left with
qualities missing, as if our purpose was simply to worship god, why would god
give us the sense of knowledge that leads us to question his very existence, would it
not be beneficial for him to limit us in our intellect, that we will flourish as a species
but not be granted the capability for critical analysis which leads us to doubt
10. The Pros And Disadvantages Of Modern Test Taking

Modern Test Taking
There have been many studies done to figure out which of the many testing styles
allow students to both retain more information and help elevate some of the pre exam
stress, while at the same time not putting too much work on the professor. Out of all
the styles that have been tested, two of the most common styles that constantly rival
each other are the open book test vs. the closed book tests. Many teachers still cling to
the traditional closed books test.
A closed book test is a test where students are expected to study their note before a
test is given and try their very best to memorize everything that they can fit into their
heads in order to successfully pass the test, then go into the exam with nothing but the
pencil in their hand and the test on their desk.
An open book test, is a test that allows students to bring either their notes or
something that can be written on such as a sheet of paper or a note card that was
given to the student before the exam.
Both of these exam types have a wide range of both advantages and disadvantages.
One of the most common disadvantages that is often mentioned for closed book
exams is the fact that as far as the real world is concerned, closed book test are
unrealistic. For many subjects the idea of doing a task with nothing but the sole
information in someone s head would be seen as not only absurd but actually
careless. An example of this absurdity and

entered college as an undecided major. Unexpectedly that all changed a few weeks

speech and was in dire need of a Speech Pathologist. This is what initially sparked
my interest in this field. I was determined on working with the geriatric population

in Speech Pathology and Psychology at Brooklyn College because I believe they

aspects of Psychology including cognitive science, neuroscience, and biology are
essential in understanding speech disorders, language processing, production,

gave me the opportunity to learn how important client clinician interaction is for the
session and how essential it is to build a good relationship with the client. Although I

12. Ethical Issues On Abortion
Introduction: Bioethics is the study of the typically controversial ethical issues
emerging from new situations and possibilities brought about by advances in
biology and medicine. It is also moral discernment as it relates to medical policy,
practice, and research (Centre for Bioethics 2015). Within society, there are many
ethical issues and not all religious groups agree. Issues including, abortion, cloning,
IVF and designer babies; they are all controversial in society. This report will outline
the ethical issue of abortion. Outline Issue: Abortion is the termination (end) of a

They believe that abortion is the act of killing a human being. According to the 10
commandments, Thou shall not kill , life is sacred from the act of conceiving to
the time of death and to take a human life, born or unborn, is classified as morally
wrong. According to the Catholic Church, Human life is sacred because from its
beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a
special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of
life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for
himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being ( Donum vitae, 5),
(Fr. William Saunders 2015). Within both the old and new testaments it shows God
s disbelief of this issue. Muslims also have a similar belief to that of Catholics; it
is wrong and haram (forbidden). They are taught that life begins from the creation
of God at conception and an unborn child has the right to care, have protection and
a life. Abortion on any grounds is forbidden in the Islamic holy book Al Quran. Do
not kill or take a human life which God has declared to be sacred. (SPUC 2015)

13. Racism in the Loon Essay
The Loons : Social Racism Kills a Metis Girl
Margaret Laurence s short story The Loons from A Bird in the House has proven
highly controversial as an example of racist literature. The Loons, is a representation
of racial separation in mid western Canada in the early 1900 s. Here, Margaret
Laurence uses setting and characterization to show how severe the prejudice of white
people can be towards half breeds, after the period of new colonization. Piquette
Tonnere, protagonist, who intends to fight those prejudices eventually, dies, leaving
readers surprised to observe the cruelty of the society.

heritage. It seemed to me that Picquette must be in some way a daughter of the

suggesting that just because Picquette is an aboriginal, she must be a skilled tracker
and hunter like legendary literary character Hiawatha. Piquette senses this, and she
refuses to open up to Vanessa, by rejecting her friendly act. Vanessa immediately
decides that as an Indian, Piquette was a dead loss, when she realizes that Piquette
has no Indian secrets to share with her; she is confused by Piquette and ultimately
rejects her.
Alienated Piquette acts indifferently to her surroundings, and only once in the story
her heartfelt feelings have been expressed: Listen, you wanna know something,
Vanessa?...Your dad was the only person in Manawaka that ever done anything good

like the loons who cry only at night, her words mean a lot: they show to the readers,
Piquette s loneliness and isolation.
Grown up woman Piquette wants acceptance in white dominating society. She
attempts to escape poverty and alienation by becoming a seductive woman to snare a
man assuming marriage can be the only avenue of escape. In her make up and skin

Noise generated by electronic devices varies greatly, as it can be produced by several
different effects. Thermal noise is unavoidable at non zero temperature, while other
types depend mostly on device type or manufacturing quality and semiconductor
defects, such as conductance fluctuations, including 1/f noise. 16. Explain the
difference between external and internal noise.
Internal Noise is that which a system generates on its own. For example in
MicroProcessor, Inductance of lines connecting different gates or coupling
capacitance between different lines may produce noise. In some systems, thermal
excitation and deexcitation of Electrons may produce Noise. In Most Cases, such
Noise is unavoidable. For example, if we are amplifying a signal by normal
Amplifier, which has certain internal Noise, and if We make gain large to improve
signal to Noise ratio, Noise gain will also increase!!! External Noise on the other
hand comes from some external source. For example, in Microprocessor system,
ripple voltage from power supply or voltage spikes may produce noise. This noise can
often be reduced easily and may even be suppressed.

15. How To Shoot A Jump Shot Essay
Everyone can handle the ball, and pass the ball, but not everybody can shoot.
Whether it is open, contested or off the dribble, to be able to shoot the ball ,will
take your game to the next level. To be able to shoot the ball well, requires a lot of
time and practice to ensure a high shooting percentage. The time used to practice
should focus on form, balance, and timing which are essential to having a great shot.
Having balance for a jump shot is the first thing that should be addressed.
First you must spread your feet shoulder width apart to maintain a certain leverage.
Next make sure that your feet aren t flat footed, nor on the heels of your feet. To
maintain a correct balance you must stand on balls of your feet. Then keep your head

This is affecting the strength of the wrist and hands before the shot is released. Lastly
follow through with your shot to the basket. Meaning to guide the shot as its being

important part of the shot.
With perfect timing allows the shot to be not only complete, but also successful. It
allows you to understand when to make the release, and follow through with your
shot. This process doesn t require really any steps, but merely just an understanding
of the shooting process. Once timing is perfected along with the other steps, a jump
shot could be deadly during a game. With balance, form, and timing all marked
down the possibilities could be endless. A player with a deadly jump shot is
always a threat to an opposing team. If utilized properly a shot could be made
contested, uncontested, or off the dribble which would allow any player to be
unstoppable on the court. Players such as Devin Booker, J.J Reddick, Kyrie
Irving. Damian Lillard, and Stephen Curry all utilize this aspect of the game, and in
that became very great players due to

19. William Shakespeare s Oedipus Tyrannus
Oedipus Tyrannus is a play written by Sophocles, and it deals with the interactions
between divine justice/fate and human control in the events that take place for
Oedipus. He is the son of King Laius and Queen Jocasta but he was given away as
an infant due to news of a horrid oracle that would destroy the kingdom and his
parents. Apollo s oracle shows that Oedipuss destiny and life as a whole was already
predetermined before he was born and that Oedipus has no choice that would
affect those events. However the entire play is about the choices Oedipus is
making, the investigation that brings him down is his own and the curse under
which he falls is the one he utters from his own mouth. Oedipus goes from a
prideful, arrogant and heroic king to a condemned humble man due to his tragic
fate at the end of the play. Oedipus may not be happy towards the end of the play as
opposed to the beginning but he reaches a point in which he is content. Oedipus is
less free at the beginning of the play as compared to the end because he is tied
down by the miasma and hubris that surround him after he killed his father. In the
end of the play Oedipus finally has full knowledge of who he is, and he blinds
himself in a rage of penitence, accepting total responsibility, by saying his actions as
well as the god s fate are responsible for what he did, and he is determined to take
the punishment of exile as well.
Oedipus s character has changed drastically from the beginning of the play to the end.

A worldview is often defined as a person s perception of life and perspective of the
world. A worldview involves more than how a person interprets life, but it also
involves a person s philosophy of life, and a person s decision making (Gutierrez

looks through to see the world, and that what a person sees is how they base their

Man was made in the image of God [Genesis 1:27] (Holy Bible, 2011). Then God
puts the man into the garden to work it, and to be the authority over all living
things [Genesis 1:26; 2:15] (Holy Bible, 2011). God created man in His image and
gave man the most important form of life. Of all the living beings created, man is
the only self conscious being. Plant life have unconscious life, animals have
conscious life, and human beings have self conscious life (Willmington, 1981). Per
Everyday Bible Study, God s ultimate plan is to restore a proper relationship with
Him (Gutierrez, Hulshof, Cartwright, 2016). John 17:3 gives the purpose of
mankind, and that is, for man to know God (Holy Bible, 2011). Per Finding Your
Worldview: Thinking Christianly about the World, man is made to have a personal
relationship with God the Father by Jesus Christ, His Son (Gutierrez Weider, 2013).
This is salvation. John 3:16 tells us that God loved man so much that He sacrificed
His Only Son so that we may live forever with Him (Holy Bible, 2011). When a
person accepts this truth then they have salvation, they have accepted this
wonderful gift from God. Per Everyday with Jesus Daily Bible, God created us to
know and enjoy Him (Hughes, Holman Bible Staff, 2013). 1 John 4:8 says that
God is love and if we know God then we love. This is important because we cannot
truly love ourselves, love others, or love
21. Compare And Contrast The Passionate Shepherd To His
Love
The Idealist and the Realist are two rather different types of people. One sees the
world in an optimistic light, where the flowers seemingly always bloom and
summer is ever lasting, while the other sees the world as a skeptic and sees that all
happiness at some point comes to an end. Within the poems The Passionate Shepherd
to his loveand The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd we see these two types of
people interact with one and another through letters as one expresses his love and
the other rejects it. We see how the Shepherd views the world and the blossoming
of love and we see the Nymph s view of the world and her skeptical view on love.
The story of these two poems start with the declaration of love from the Shepherd
within The Passionate Shepherd to his love, with the first line of the poem being
Come live with me, and be my love yet what is his view on love? Well the
Shepherd within his poem to the Nymph, says that he d give her gifts like A cap of
flowers and a kirtle (Line 11, Shepherd) to her. Those aren t the only gifts either he
even promises her a Gown made of the finest wool (Line 13, Shepard), and also
some Delights such as other Shepherds singing and dancing for them(Line 21,
Shepherd). The Shepherd seems to view that love is not moved by who one is, but
rather by bribes and entertainment which are different from the Nymph s own views.
The Nymph herself seems to be rather skeptical of the Shepherd and seemingly has a
distrust of Shepherds due

The ways and reasons land mines are used has changed dramatically since WW1.
What was once considered to be cutting edge defensive technology has turned into
an offensive tactical device and extremist s tool to wreak havoc on an enemy or
marginalized population. Connecting the history of landmines to the conflicts we
have discussed in this class will take several steps. The first part of this paper will
discuss the history of landmines, how they are detonated, and the different types of
landmines. The next section looks at the ways landmines are used defensively in war
time, and as an offensive weapon in past wars and by current day extremists. The
third section examines examples of the devastation that ... Show more content on

potential aggression from the other side. The DMZ contains approximately 1 million

North Korea has artillery that eliminates the need for a land invasion. Although the

The large and under appreciated civilization of the Indus Valley reveals treasures
and achievements of ancestors from our past. A seal from the Indus Valley has left
historians and archeologists puzzled about its possible meanings. Archeologists
believe the seal could represent a particular business, or even a prominent individual.
The seals found could signify trade and commerce amongst villages, representing
their leaders, a sacrificial ritual, or protection and procreation. In some ancient
societies seals were used for printing an image on a document or product. In the Indus
Valley the seals often have images of animals and some kind of title or inscription.
Unfortunately the language written on these seals is still undeciphered. The specific...

To illustrate, the Indus civilization flourished a thousand years later than the
Middle East and North Africa. So these huge civilizations were already dominating
the area, leaving the Indus Valley in the shadows. Then Indian or South Asian
civilizations moved toward the plains of the Ganges River, which archeologists
believed covered all that remained of the Indus (p.103). The Indus Valley began to
decline around 1700 B.C.E and was not rediscovered until the twentieth century.
Therefore decades passed before any recognition of the Indus Valley, causing
erosion and wear on the artifacts and history of the valley. All scholars have really
uncovered are the advanced cities and neighborhoods they made. This leaves a lot
of room for potential explanations about the civilization and their lives. Moreover,
the script written on the seals found are unrecognizable and archeologists cannot
decode the language. The language written on these seals is unlike any other
dialect. In addition, our mindset compared to the people of the Indus Valley is
worlds apart. A plausible reason why people cannot decipher these intricate seals is
our mind are overcomplicating their meanings. I think we perplex, or over simplify,
their dialect. We are so in the dark about the interpretations of this ancient civilization
and their seals because the Indus Valley is foreign to us. Limited archeologist

a.Monotheism and Mosaic Law, The Book of Exodus, Chapter 19 20. (c. Tenth Sixth
Centuries B.C.E.)
Moses answered the people, Do not be afraid; God has come to test you, so that
your fear of him, being always in your mind, may keep you from sinning
b.The quote is significant because it explains how God works. Moses is talking to the
people who fear the peals of thunder on the mountain and lightning flashes. They
were also scared of the loud sound of the trumpet and the smoking mountain.
Basically, Moses is telling them not to fear and that God is just testing them. He
explains that God is hoping that if they are afraid, then they will not sin. I think this
is important when believing in monotheism because there is only one God. In the
Holy Bible of today s time, God says, Do not be afraid multiple times and this quote
reveals the ethical dimension of the Hebrews monotheism. The concept of sin was
missing in the region during the tenth sixth centuries.

Yahweh, their God, made a covenant with Hebrew people, in exchange for obeying
the laws which God revealed to Moses, the Hebrew leader, on Mount Sinai. Yahweh
promised the people that he will count them as kingdom of priest and a consecrated
nation. The laws that God created were the Ten Commandments. The Ten
Commandments are still used broadly around the world and in many religions today,
like Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The Book of Exodus shined a light on the
development of Hebrew monotheism because it talks about how there is only one
26. Pathology Of Pornography
CHAPTER 3 Abjection as a Pathological Source of Violence in Pinter It is a truth,
universally accepted, that man is a social animal. Man cannot live alone. This
characteristic of man along with his capacity to think, communicate and achieve his
goals in an astute manner separates him from other animals. Man is dependent on
others from his birth until the time of his death for the fulfillment of his physical
and emotional needs. The primitive men formed associations on the basis of
common likes, dislikes, practices, customs, and most importantly on the basis of the
inherent sexual drive to copulate with the opposite gender. These associations led to
the formation of a society which as defined by R.M. Maciver is a web of social
relationships (Society: An Introductory Analysis 5). Thus society does not just
comprise individuals, but it also includes the multifaceted patterns of the interactions
and relationships that arise among them. An important fact to be noted here is that
man is not for the society, but society is for man and for a society and its members
to flourish and progress, there is a need for favorable social, political and economic
conditions. Any sharp deviation from these favorable conditions leads to chaos and
ultimately the disorganization of the society. Since it is man who forms his
associations and relationships and on a larger level the society, it is very important to
understand the working of the human mind and its impact on the functioning of the

As the United States became more involved in the Vietnam War, the American
society became fired up, not supporting the war, and questioned the United States
foreign plan. The American people spread their messages in many ways from
protest songs to protests. Protest songs were used as propaganda to send negative
messages about the US and the war. One of the iconic protests songs at the time
came out in 1965 by Country Joe and the Fish, I Feel Like I m Fixin To Die (Doc
B). This song gave off the message to America that there are other things then just
enlisting in the war and that there is a lot of money to be made in America, while
still being supportive, like helping supply the Army with the equipment needed to
fight (Doc B). This 1965... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Vietnam War made impacts on the movement back home. As in 1967 Martin
Luther King Jr. even went against his own beliefs of not speaking out about the
war he began preaching that it is truly sad to see African American people and the
poor who can not make a living, being drafted (Doc C). Not only were they being
drafted they were also dying at a much higher rate then just about every other group
in society (Doc C). MLK also stated that these individuals were fighting to establish
peace and rights over in Vietnam, while they did not even have these for themselves
(Doc C). During the Vietnam years there still was some of the American population
who supported the war, but would not speak out publicly about supporting the
actions. This group was given the name the silent majority. Richard Nixon while in
office spoke out about the group saying that the silent majority needs to speak out
publicly as all the messages going around about the war are negative (Doc G). He
also said in his speech that even though some people may not like the war everyone
should help in the mind of creating peace in South Vietnam and that without everyone
coming together in the nation that the US military could be defeated in the war (Doc
30. The Use of Literary Techniques to Develop Theme in...
A war has been raging in the jungle and rice paddies of Vietnam. Many have died
from other people and mines. Tim O Brien was born in the time known as the baby
boom. The babies born in this time, when they were older, ended up fighting in the
Vietnam War. The Vietnam War lasted for eighteen years (1956 1975)(Smith 1). O
Brien wrote Where Have You Gone Charming Billy in 1975 to protest against the
war. The military draft rarely happens, so when it happened for the VietnamWar
everyone was surprised. Many did not want to join, which caused mass protests
against a war we didn t have to enter. In the story, Paul Berlin is the main character.
When he first arrives in Vietnam, he watches one soldier named Billy Boy get his
foot blown off. Billy Boy reacts so much that he gave himself a heart attack. Tim O
Brien develops his theme you can not let fear take control in his short storyWhere
Have You Gone Charming, Billy through the use of setting, mood, and
characterization.
O Brien emphasize his theme through the use of setting. The Vietnam war started in
the 1960s. It was a terrible war that could have been avoided. It Laid the groundwork
for issues he later explored in fiction, including the mind numbing rituals of battle
(Smith 1). War is the worst way to settle disputes. The quote also means that war
plays with your mind so what is seen can never be unseen. YOUR SON BILLY BOY

VIETNAM (O Brien 1). That shows in
31. The Importance Of International Migration
Migration Migration is relatively easy to define. It consists of the abandonment by
certain people from their place of residence and the adoption of a new one during a
relatively long period, although not necessarily permanent. But within this definition
include social phenomena of very diverse types. First, we deal with of international
migration and not of internal migration. This distinction is partly significant and
partly arbitrary. It is arbitrary in the sense of that the change of social and economic
environment, regardless of distance migration, can be equally large in the case of
national migration than in an international migration. Today cross the border between
Mexico and the United States, to give an example, may mean less change for the
migrant who migrates from a rural area of the state of Chiapas to go to the capital.
But the difference between internal and international migration is itself significant in
the sense that it implies a legal change in the status of the person. In most countries of
the world it is perfectly legal that an inhabitant moves within the country. But the
movement between different countries is not always legal. Quite the contrary, it is
always illegal if various legal procedures. International migration changes status legal
form of the person in a way that internal migration does not. The migration domestic
policy is sometimes a political issue, but international migration it is always. It is
impossible to speak of migration without

being the most gifted of our kind, and we often place their successes on a pedestal
far beyond our reach. It is a widely accepted excuse their natural abilities have
allowed them to reach their expertlevel of knowledge and achievement. However,
modern research is yielding more proof that innate characteristics have less to do
with a person s talent and that hard work is the primary push factor towards those
achievements. All of those accomplished people from various fields have one thing in
common: deliberate practice, the primary source of success.
Being an incredibly underutilized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They concluded that the amount of time spent in deliberate practice and effort put
forth, predicted advancing further rounds in final competition far better than any
other kind of preparation (Duckworth 126), consequently proving that deliberate
practice is key to success. Nevertheless, deliberate practice is less about quantity
and more about the quality of practice. Practicing to reach a certain quota of time
spent on the task or following the same routine will yield limited results, quickly
leading to frustration. Repetition of the same motions does not mean excellence;
defining goals and honing in on weaknesses are the only way to avoid stagnation
in practice. Deliberate practice requires a willingness to refine skills and put forth
a full effort something Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky has strived to do her
entire career. Her coach has described her as someone who willingly does more
deliberate practice than anyone he s ever met (Duckworth 136). She knows how
deeply gratifying practice is when done correctly, and has six Olympic medals to
prove it. While expert performers may seem to have reached a godlike level of
achievement, their successes are only attained through the patience required for
deliberate practice.
Even the most daunting of challenges or unfair disadvantages can be overcome
through the use of deliberate practice. According to Ericsson s study, there are very
few characteristics that would allow someone and

She found out that Zora was not recognized for what she had done and written as

Her interactions with white people and how she thought of them as well as the

36. The Lives Of Minimum Wage Workers
As an investigative approach to study the lives of minimum wage workers,
journalist Barbara Ehrenreich conducted this research by assuming multiple low
paid positions herself. Her essential goal for this study was to determine how low
paid workers survive on their income. She began her adjustment to the working class
lifestyle by establishing regulations for herself to eliminate any advantages from her
real life that could alleviate her throughout the process. In doing so, she abandoned
all of the luxuries that her middle class career afforded her, such as a comfortable
living environment, fresh quality meals, and working independently. Immersing
herself into this lifestyle allowed her to witness the arduous circumstances of low
wageliving that she could not have experienced otherwise.
After finding a temporary residence in an efficiency apartment within a forty five
minute drive from the prospective employment options in Key West, Florida,
Ehrenreich attempts to find a low paying job that could defray her living expenses.
She applies for multiple jobs and waits a couple of days until she is hired as a
waitress at a restaurant attached to a hotel that she calls Hearthside. During the first
few weeks as a waitress, Ehrenreich is concerned with being an effective worker
and providing a convivial atmosphere for the customers. She soon discovers that the
onerous demands of waitressing can only be alleviated by desensitising herself to the
quality of her work. Upon doing so,
37. Factory Workers And The Poor Conditions Of The
Industrial...
Initially, the Industrial Revolution instigated poor conditions for the working class,
but with progress, the conditions of the working class improved. Upon the
industrialization of Manchester, the priority of factory owners was to reach mass
production, and was not the conditions and safety of workers. To begin with, factory
owners resolved that in order to make the greatest profit from mass production,
they would need to employ as many workers as possible, in order to ensure that
production needs were met. With the limited space in factories, workers were
cramped together using machines that were dangerous. The wages for workers was
just a pittance, leading to the cramped streets for workers unable to afford better
living spaces. The filth of the streets exposed workers to diseases by the atmospheric
conditions, killing many off (Document 6). As these conditions of living in cramped
spaces and having exposure to illnesses affected workers, many of them died. In fact,
the average life span at the beginning of the industrial revolutionfor workers was just
17 years (Document 6). Considering that this is less than the average lifespan of a
skilled worker, it is evident that the poor conditions of workers actually shifted the
population. For many years, these conditions continued to negatively affect the
working class and the population of cities. As journalist William Alexander Abram
observed, gradually, as Factory Acts were passed, such as the Factory Act of 1844,

39. Resolving Internal And External Conflicts
Having the skills to resolve internal and external conflicts effectively is one of the
biggest challenges faced by organizations in today s business world. In most cases,
mediators are needed to attain success in conflict issues. They are vital to success as
they act as they act as neutral parties to analyze a conflictby listening to both parties
and coming up with a solution. The mediator is completely impartial (neutral)
person(s) who probably doesn t know either party, but will act as a middle person
that listens to both sides of the situation from the two and see if any middle ground
opportunities for some kind of arrangement, acceptable to both sides, which will in
part or fully help to resolve the situation. By so doing, a mediator functions as an
intermediary. A mediator talks to parties in separate rooms and never allows
shouting or interruption from disputants facing each other. In fact, it is needless
allowing disputants to be in the same room at all. The role of the mediator is to
shuttle or go between the parties. However, this paper will describe a work related
conflict experience where a mediator was used to resolve the conflict, define the role
of a mediator, explain the types of data a mediator may choose to gather and analyze
when conducting a session to reduce or eliminate the conflict, assess how the
information is utilized in a mediationplan by providing a detailed example of each.

40. Why Women Should Not Be Sexualized And Objectified The
Way...
David Dale 1 Why women should not be sexualized and objectified the way they
are in video games today: Most of us would already know that women s
representation in the media is highly sexualized and that women are regularly
portrayed in a sexual manner and are objectified in all forms of media whether it
be in magazines, online, television, movies, music videos, and of course video
games (Wu, 2014). Many people derive gratification from what they read and hear
every day without thinking about the way that women are being portrayed in these
forms of media. Women are regularly used as an object to sell a game or used as
eye candy to advertise and sell a product. The way that women in today s society
are objectified and sexualized in media especially video games can lead to later
unsocial behaviour by the participant and that s not a positive or desirable result
for society. Video games have long been known as a male dominated media, when
it comes to the market audience, player base, and character representation in game.
Research concerning gender representation in video games often focuses on a few
key points of how men and women are viewed differently, things like physical
abilities, role in the game, and physical attributes are just a few to point out (Zorrilla,
2011). Something that is used a lot in video games is the sexualized depiction of
female characters, the overwhelming masculinity of the implied game player, and the
recurring structure of male heroes or characters
