theme that prevails throughout the book is selfishness. A man for all seasons is about a man, a very
historical figure Thomas more, a well respected man by the king and his people. Thomas More
remained silent when it came to his judgment and thought over king henry s divorce. Resulting, he
resigns as chancellor of England and refused to take the oath. He thought he could spare his life if he
remained silent. Not long after he was imprisoned, tried and eventually executed. Thomas More was a
selfish man. The sacrifices that Thomas More makes and the set events that happen throughout the

Thomas more is trying to make Alice understand what he s going to do. More: Alice, if you can tell
me that you understand, I think I can make a good death if I have to. Again I choose this quote
because it really shows More s motive his real character. More was using the word death like it was
nothing. He was juggling around the word death as of it meant nothing to him. That there shows that
