Risk Of A Diversified Portfolio
Introduction:
Market risk, or beta risk, is described as a reflection of a project on stockholders risk of a
diversified portfolio. Many factors can influence the market such as war, inflation, and recession.
Market risk is measured by the firm s beta coefficient to determine the effects the market has on the
portfolio. In addition to market risk, there are two forms of risk that managers use to calculate the
risk of a particular project related to holding a diversified portfolio. Stand alone risk is used
when the firm s only holds one asset or a single stock. Corporate, or within firm risk is the
measurement of all assets or stocks held by the firm. Of these three risks, the Capital Asset Pricing
Model states the market risk is the risk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stand alone risk often correlated to the corporate risk which often correlates to the market; thus,
if stand alone risk is high, market risk will also be high. Market risk is the riskiness of a well
diversified project (assets or stocks) compared to the market using the markets beta, or slope of a
linear regression. The projects is plotted against the market (beta) risk to determine its risk
compared to the market. Much research has been done on the effects market risk has on stocks,
firms, portfolios, exchange rates, and more. Research often concludes with supporting evidence that
support the use of market risk for estimations and predictions in finance, since the market risk
cannot be eliminated from the stock market.
Market Risk Management:
Understanding market risk is crucial in determining the factors that threaten one s ability to attain
returns from a particular project, single stock, or a portfolio. The impact of market risks is crucial
to determining stability and the return on an investment. Many factors impact the market risk
which effect both global and country economies. Market risk allows a firm to estimate the risk and
return on projects or investments. Generally the riskier the project, the higher the returns. Market
risk is predictable over time; although the predictions are not perfect, one can gain understanding
into the effects the market will have on investment or how the investment will react to

Effective Use Of Imagery In Marianne Moore s Poetry
In Poetry , Marianne Moore explains that it is not that she does not like poetry, but it is the idea
that poetry is simply not the same anymore. Poetry conveys ingenuity and candid ideas; it should be
used to express one s authentic thoughts and feelings. Moore connects the use of imagery to
expound on the interpretation that people do not appreciate or like what they do not understand.
The poem purposely has no true structure, as it is written in free form with no rhymescheme or
pattern. Moore shows her frustration with the addressed autocrats of literature and displays that by
using an ironic tone in the composition of the poem. Through Moore s use of imagery, she
highlights people s lack of originality and perspective. In the line Hands that can grasp, eyes that
can dilate, hair that can rise if it must, these things are important not because a high sounding
interpretation can be put upon them but because they are useful... (Moore 6), the speaker is stating

The poem has a natural flow, exemplifying that poetry does not have to abide by a set of rules.
People are used to thinking they must follow the clichГ© guidelines that poetry must rhyme,
have a pattern, or a hidden meaning, and that simply is not true. The unrestrained arrangement of
the poem connects with one of Moore s concluding lines, ...the raw material of poetry in all its
rawness... (44). The speaker s use of enjambment represents the flow of her thoughts in the poem.
Every word continued over the line break has its own emphasis. For example, there are only two
periods in the poem, one in the first stanza and one at the very end. The period is placed in the
quote, ...one discovers after it all, a place for the genuine. , which puts emphasis on the word
genuine. Moore uses this to officially open the readers mind to genuine poetry, as after that point
she provides justifications as to what makes it genuine with the

Wobbler Syndrome Summary
Critique of Scientific Articled The article I reviewed discussed a study of the body shape and
alignment in a breed of dogs called Great Danes. Some of the dogs had a disease called Cervical
Spondylomyelopathy, commonly known as Wobbler Syndrome or CSM, and some of them
were perfectly normal and healthy. The cause of this disease is unknown but many believe that
it is a mix of large breed dogs having a large and heavy head and long neck which can cause
irregular forces on the vertebrae of the neck. The study included 15 dogs with Wobblers and 15
dogs who had no clinical signs of wobblers. In the beginning stages, wobblers causes dogs to
have a funny, wobbly walk in their back legs and they will seem extra clumsy. This study used
MRI scans to determine that there were no distinct differences in dogs with Wobbler Syndrome
verses those who are healthy. This finding disproved the original hypothesis that it is caused by a
large head and long neck.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This study can help the scientific and veterinary communities to narrow down what does actually
cause CSM. I believe this study was conducted in a mostly correct manner; however, I would have
liked for them to include more than one single breed of dog. Also, body measurements were taken
with a soft fabric tape measure which could stretch over time leading to incorrect measurements.
Overall, I believe that this study was conducted in a manner which exemplifies the scientific
method and was presented in a great

Army Leadership Essay
LEADERSHIP Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done,
because he wants to do it . 34th President of the United States Dwight D. Eisenhower. Leadership
is crucial part of today s army and leaders play a huge role in the accomplishment of the mission.
I believe this is true, because leaders are the guys who are in close contact with the younger
soldiers. They are the ones who counsel the soldiers and make them better and make a plan for
that soldier to improve and become a better soldier. Leaders play a major role in the
accomplishment of the mission, because officers and higher leaders cannot be everywhere at once,
so they need a person they can trust to lead the charge and tackle the mission the right way

Taking a Look at Addison s Disease
Autoimmune diseases are very common. There are over 23.5 million Americans who suffer
from such diseases. Women of child bearing age and people with a family history of
autoimmune diseases are more likely to be affected by these diseases. Addison s can also occur
in dogs. This type of disease is one that is caused by the attack of healthy cells and tissue. The
immune system can t tell the difference between the healthy tissue and the bad one and it attacks
the normal one creating an autoimmune disorder. Autoimmune disorders can destroy body tissue,
change the function of an organ, or cause abnormal growth in an organ. Parts of the body that are
usually affected by these disorders are joints, muscles, blood vessels, endocrine glands, or other
organs. There is a wide variety of autoimmune diseases. More than 80 kinds of diseases have been
discovered.
One common autoimmune disease is Addison s disease. Addison s occurs when your body creates
antibodies which attach onto your adrenal cortex and destroys the cells which create cortisol, and
aldosterone. This may not seem to be a big deal but, it is life threatening. Cortisol is a hormone
which responds to stress, increases blood sugar, and suppresses the immune system. . It also helps
regulate the metabolism. When there is a lack of cortisol you can have symptoms such as diarrhea,
inability to handle stress, vomiting, loss of appetite, and much more. Aldosterone works with blood
pressure, and helps regulate the salt and water

Quilt In Colonial America
History and the wide variety cultures has altered the way women quilt.
Quilts in Colonial America resembled their culture and lands from which the quilters had come
from. The wealthy and social prominent settlers in the south began to make patchwork quilts
after the middle class and poor women had been working on patchwork for hundreds of years.
The Puritans brought sturdy fabrics and simple designs, and in northeastern America the colors
were more colorful. Linsey woolsey, also known as woolen bedcovers were not often made as a
staple within the household. The woolen bedcovers were made of a woolen or glazed worsted
fabric dyed in neutral colors as a top layer, with the filling was a soft layer of carded wool; the
layers were held together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

advantages in technology like the pioneers did. Native American women had to grow or barter
goods such as cotton, twine, and dye to create such beautiful quilts, which also, are some of the
most beautiful works done that are hung in museums today. Quilting was a big technique that the
Native Americans borrowed from the Europeans. The natives altered this technique by changing

THE IMPORTANCE OF A FAMILY
Having a loving family is something that no child should live without. A loving family helps
shape your personality, and also helps instil good decision making in you. They also act as your

Implementing Observational Learning
The following essay provides the reader with a cursory understanding of observational learning and
how it may be implemented within the classroom. The paper first explores a workable definition of
observational learning primarily through the concept of modeling and vicarious learning. The
second part discusses the roles of the teacher and environment. The paper then discusses how
observational learningmay be used to teach positive attitudes and effective thinking skills, also
achieved through vicarious learning. Scaffolding , a learning strategy that utilizes observational and
vicarious learning is explored in the last section of this paper.
Observational learning is basically learning by watching others, referred as models. There are ...

This is referred as vicarious reinforcement, whereas vicarious punishment occurs when a student
observes a peer facing consequences for a behavior that the observer is also doing. The peer
facing a consequence essentially forces the observer to also stop behaving in a similar fashion.
Vicarious extinction occurs when the observer notices that a behavior does not produce the desired
result, therefore they cease the behavior (Vockell, 2004).
The integration of observational learning would begin with the teacher. The teacher may be the
primary role model in the classroom environment, hence it is imperative to project positive
behaviors and qualities and refrain from behaviors and attitudes that tend to diminish opportunities
towards intellectual, social and developmental growth within each student (Vockell, 2004). The
classroom environment is also taken into consideration. Environmental factors may affect outcomes
related to modeling techniques. The idea is to limit the potential effects of sensory stimuli, such as
when closing doors to the classroom in order to lessen external noise or distractions.
Attitude and thinking skills can be learned vicariously, [C]hildren develop a large number of
thinking strategies by imitating the ways their peers think. Teachers can exploit opportunities for
observational learning of attitudes and thinking skills related to academic subjects.

The Powerful Roman Empire
The Roman Empire was one of the most well known empires in history. It was the most powerful
of all of the empires and covered at least a part of over fifty present day countries. It covered the
most area out of all of the empires in history. Other than the Spartans, the Roman Empire had the
most powerful army of the ancient world and contained over 20% of the world population back
then. The Roman s ingenuity created many inventions as well, such as the arch, which, with
aqueducts, would revolutionize the transport of water and other supplies across the empire. The

One main reason that the Roman Empire expanded so much was because of their many good
emperors such as Trajan and his successor Hadrian.
Trajan was emperor of Rome from 98 117 CE and is considered one of the Five Good Emperors
of Rome. One reason Trajan was considered such a good emperor was because he was kind and
generous to the Roman People and Senate. Because of this, Trajan was one of the reasons that
Rome could have so much land and be at the height of their power during his reign. Trajan made
sure that the poor were fed and cared for, and almost everybody in his empire liked him. Aside
from his kindness, Trajan was also recognized for his achievements in war and expanding Rome
to its height in 117 AD with 5 million square kilometers. Throughout Trajan s reign, he captured
Dacia, or present day Romania, and the Parthian Empire, or the Persians with his skill in fighting.
Following Trajan s death in 117, Hadrian rose to the throne. Hadrian is considered another one of
the five good emperors of Rome, except Hadrian was different than Trajan in that he unified and
consolidated Rome rather than seize more land as Trajan had. Rather than expand the Empire,
Hadrian ruled justly and traveled around his empire and rectified tax situations. Hadrian is most
well known for building a wall across Britain to keep out barbarians called Hadrian s Wall.
Although these emperors helped maintain the Roman

Don Quixote Foils
In the Spanish novel, The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha, written by Miguel de
Cervantes, Sancho Panza is conveniently placed throughout the story to be easily compared to
others. Sancho sets the point of being normal or regular for the settings and explains with actions
and appearance how others are. Sancho also verbally expresses the insane manner of his companion
more than once. Sancho s purpose is to not only be the foil, but also to be the reference point and
explanation of the story. Sancho is a neutral character. In chapter three, Tilting at windmills,
Cervantes states an honest, ignorant laborer named Sancho Panza. When compared to Don Quixote,
Sancho is but a simple fellow, and Quixote is a crazed old man who fantasizes being a great
knight of great chivalry. This comparison is that of an obvious one, were Sancho is foil to only
Quixote. In chapter twenty two, on page 152, Cervantes tells of Sancho s Family awaiting his
return. This sheds more light on Sancho s family, as it states later that he has a wife and children.
This brings to conclusion that Sancho has a normal sized family, that consists of normal people,
since the text does not state otherwise. Sancho is a normal guy, with a normal family, who does...

Gen. Stat. В§ 1A 1, Rule 12.
The above statue is affirmed in Sutton v. Duke, 277 N.C. 9, 102 (N.C. 1970), Where the court
established the sufficiency of notice pleading. This type of pleading provides a statement of a claim
is adequate if it gives sufficient notice of the claim asserted to enable the adverse party to answer
and prepare for trial, to allow for the application of the doctrine of res judicata, and to show the
type of case brought
Further defining what is required for a complaint to be sufficient, Sutton establishes that, detailed
fact pleading is no longer required. A pleading complies with the rule if it gives sufficient notice
of the events or transactions which produced the claim to enable the adverse party to understand
the nature of it and the basis for it. Id. at 104. The court provided the rational for only requiring
such notice by indicating how the opportunity for discovery and the other pretrial procedures
established by the Rules to disclose more precisely the basis of both claim and defense and to
define more narrowly the disputed facts and issues. Id. at 102.
In addition, Buchanan v. Hunter Douglas, Inc., 87 N.C. App. 84, 88 (1987) affirms , The
requirements of N.C.R. Civ. P. 8(a) are met when a pleading gives sufficient notice of the events, or

John Locke s Theory Of Religious Tolerance
John Locke, a 17th century English philosopher is remembered for his great contributions to
three issues that was important during his time and still concerns us today. The three topics
Locke covered during his lifetime was how to handle people with different religion, determining
who should rule, and how to educate our children. Locke developed theories from the three
topics because they played a central role in his life. Religion politics and education influence
Locke s writing and because of his writing we have a foundation of modern philosophical
empiricism and political liberalism. Locke was born during the 20 year English Civil War. Due
to the result in the death of Charles I, England reinvented themselves so that the church and the
state will be combined. Locke did not agree that the government should rule over religion. He
believed in freedom of belief. His theories of religious tolerance was written in Letters Concerning
Toleration (1689 92) due to the aftermath of the European wars of religion, creating reasoning for
religious tolerance. Three main arguments that was stated included (1) Earthly judges, the state in
particular, and human beings generally, cannot dependably evaluate the truth claims of competing
religious standpoints. (2) Even if they could, enforcing a single True Religion will not work,
because you can t be compelled in to believe through violence. (3) Coercing religious uniformity
leads to far more social disorder than allowing diversity.

Why Animals Shouldn t Have A Bill Of Rights

When a cause is brought up and given light, it has a way of splitting people in how they react to it.
And such has been true when it comes to granting new rights, because it s brobdingnagian in our
society that is always hungry for freedoms. We are split down the middle on whether, or not to
consider animals, just like us, and thus deserve the rights we hold in our society today. On the
other end, are people who don t believe such rights should be given to animals. While the pro
arguments hold value, there is much more to see on the other end. As to why animals shouldn t
have a Bill of Rights like we as humans do. It s shown in various different ways, even the most
popular arguments held by the opposing side. Such as cows hurting the environment, zoo s being
inhumane, and pets. There are other factors as well to take into consideration such as food,
psychology medicine, and even culture. It s often argued that cows are the main source of our
Methane emission, giving a strong argument to reduce, or even stop, our consumption of meat. In

Grant vs Mcclellan Comare and Contrast
1. Describe the different approaches to waging war of Grant and McClellan, utilizing Grant s
campaign in the West and McClellan s maneuvers in Virginia.
During the American Civil War, leadership within the Union s army was constantly an issue.
Within the Union, various generals were found at times to be at odds with the political leaders in
Washington. This was especially evident in the relationship between General George McClellan
and President Lincoln. This tension was the result of McClellan s approach to waging war. By
examining the differing approaches to waging war of U.S. Grant and George B. McClellan one

(McPherson, 1988, pp. 361 365)
McClellan s caution in waging war is evidenced clearly in the Army of the Potomac s Peninsula
Campaign. McClellan was charged with leading the assault on Richmond, delivering what could
have been a fatal blow against the Confederacy. During the Army of the Potomac s movements
towards Richmond, McClellan repeatedly delayed, believing he had inferior numbers to his initial
adversary, Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston. Johnston knew the caution McClellan was
prone to, and slowly drew McClellan closer to Confederate forces defending Richmond. At the
Battle of Seven Pines, Johnston reinforced the idea in McClellan s mind that caution was
necessary. (McPherson, 1988, p. 461) The surprise attach by Johnston s forces, though ultimately
defeated by the Army of the Potomac, delayed McClellan s advance as he called for more
reinforcements from Washington. Johnston was wounded in the battle, and replaced by General
Robert E. Lee. Lee, whose prowess as a tactician bordered on legendary, led a series of surprise
attacks against McClellan s Army of the Potomac in the Seven Days Battle. McClellan s forces
were pushed back, and he was relieved of duty as commander of the Army of the Potomac, until
later in 1862. (McPherson, 1988, pp. 462 470)

Taking Responsibility In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
When people don t take responsibility for their actions unacceptable things happen. For instance,
drunk drivers don t take control of themselves once they are intoxicated. They get behind the
wheel rather than calling a taxi, which puts other people s lives in danger. There has been 1,142
people who were killed in crashes involving a drunk driver in Minnesota from the years 2003
2012. The theme of not taking responsibility for their actions shows up in Mary Shelley s book
Frankenstein. People say it s a story about a monster, but it s really much more than that. Through
the events of when Victor Frankenstein creates the monster and abandons it, him not speaking at
Justine s trial, and Robert Walton turning back to save his shipmates, Shelley shows that people
should take responsibility for their actions. Victor Frankenstein s actions of creating the monster
and abandoning it demonstrates the consequences for lack of responsibility. Victor spends his
career creating a monster. He creates the monster using dead human corpses. It takes Victor almost
two years to build the monster. Victor is horrified when the monster first wakes up causing him...

Sex Workers in Canada Essay
Sometimes, the term sex work is used, as well as prostitution . But whichever term we choose to
say, it does not eliminate the stigma attached to it. Cases such as the Bedford V. Canada Case (144)

Statistics Canada says sex trade is job that is at a high risk since 2000. Homicide in Canada
report had said that since 1991, 73 sex workers were murdered on the job. Sadly, this trend
remains today. In 2007, 15 sex workers were reported killed as a direct result of their profession,
up and average of 7 per year for the previous decade .1 Research has proven that the murder scale
for sex workers represents roughly 60 to 120 times the murder rate of adult women in the
general Canadian population .2 Sex work is a very controversial topic and many individuals are
passionate about what they believe. Regardless of the moral arguments, beliefs and disbeliefs,
every person in Canada owns the right to have their human rights as well as their health respected
one hundred percent. The Courts of Canada have focused on the precise question of whether or
not Canada s current laws abide by the Constitution and serve to protect the human rights of the
persons engaging in sex work. Although prostitution is legal in Canada and it is legal to be a sex
worker, it is difficult for them to actually engage in such activity without risking criminal charges
that come after it and breaking the law. The Criminal Code seeks to make almost every activity
linked to prostitution illegal and forbids prostitution in nearly every private, or even public place.

Database Management Systems That Are Used For Non...
Overview
NoSQL is generally interpreted as Not only SQL [1]. It is a class of database management
systems that are used for non relational database. Typically NoSQL database does not use two
dimensional table to store data. The four generally categories of NoSQL database are key values
database, column databases, document databases, and graph databases [2]. NoSQL database is an
indispensable part of big data. Most company choose NoSQL database because it yields better
performance when compared to relation database. Many relational databases have been existing
for more than 20 years, while most NoSQL databases have a history of less than 5 years.
Because NoSQL databases are so young, they exposes lots of security issues. Many NoSQL
databases are still focusing on adding features and improving performance, while strength security
mechanism is still a low priority task. There were already two data breaches happened in
companies that are using NoSQL databases (MongoHQ in 2013 and LinkedIn in 2012 [3]).
Detailed result
NoSQL database characteristics
The problem of relational database is that its performance degrade significantly while handling
exponential growth of semi structured data or unstructured data [4]. The NoSQL databases possess
properties called BASE (Basically available, Soft state, and eventually consistent) that makes it
much more scalable than relational databases. As the CAP theorem [5] said, a database system

Mexican People Living In Texas In The 1930 s
Mexican people living in Texas, which until 1830 was part of Mexico, had a peaceful life. As
any other city, the society was divided into rich and poor classes. Spanish descendants were the
rich and mixed blood people were the poor. Even with these marked social distinctions, the
Mexicans had no major problem with each other. BY 1920, the Mexican government in its effort to
increase the economy, invited Americans to move to the vast expanse of land. Taking advantage of
the rich soil in Texas, in a while, there was more Anglos than Tejanos living in this part of Mexico.

Another conflict point was that Mexican Tejanos were always against slavery, but for the

Mexican peons from entering the country and forbidding Mexicans to associate with blacks (p.

The Drunk Bus Should Be Kept Around Essay
The Drunk Bus Should Be Kept Around
I remember hearing stories of such a thing called the drunk bus before I came to college, but I
was not exactly sure what it was. I just figured the bus took a bunch of drunken college students
to the bars when they wanted to go. Now that I am a first year student at State U, I understand I
was not that far from the truth. Some say the bus should be taken away, but the fact of the matter
is the bus is a necessity at college since there will always be drinking. This way, when all of the
students are done drinking at school and want to go to the bars, they are not putting themselves or
any other members of the community in danger by drinking and driving.

I am also positive if there were to be a terrible wreck caused by an intoxicated student, the entire
community would all agree that the drunk bus is a wise choice to keep in commission. If the drunk
bus were to go out of commission, then I am certain the amount of accidents would rise
dramatically.
Sober students ride the bus as well
Not every person who gets on the bus is intoxicated. I have talked with many of my friends and
they tell me that they hardly ever are intoxicated when they go on the bus, but the just want to
have a good time and dance at the club. If students ask the bus driver, he will also make stops to
local grocery stores such as Wal Mart and Hy Vee. I know many students that go on the bus just
hang out at the bar to have fun, without drinking. Therefore, this shows how the bus has more than
one use of just transporting drunken students.
Students will always drink
I read a very interesting book called Behind the Arch: The Truth about Drinking at Buena Vista
University. This book explained how the Storm Lake, IA community feels that having the drunk
Bus around only encourages students to drink. I think the community needs to realize if there were
no bus to transport intoxicated students to and from the bars, the students only option would be to
drive intoxicated, which should never happen. Eighty five percent (or 334) of the 395 students who
completed the online survey indicated they drank (14). It is common knowledge there

Authority Is A Fundamental Part Of Life Essay
Authority is a fundamental part of life. It is utilized in both micro and macro ways, such as it
being used in a particular group of individuals or a mass society. In order for society to function,
some aspect of authority is required. Police officers use authority to maintain order and obedience
throughout communities. Parents possess characteristics of authority in order to teach children
right from wrong. As well as, teachers are considered authority figures since they need to control
and maintain obediencein the classroom.
Authority cannot exist without obedience. Society is developed on this notion. Without authority,
and its required obedience, disorder and disruption would occur. But how much obedience to
authority is necessary? When is it too much or too little? Authority figures hold such power, that it
quite often becomes abused. We can relate back to these questions by looking into the novel,
Crimes of Power and States of Impunity , and connecting it with the element of the chain of
command. Often, higher authority individuals abuse their powers, just like those involved in the
scandal at Abu Ghraib. The American Soldiers were ambiguously declaring to torture, punish,
interrogate, and harm the inmates prior to interrogation. Yet, these soldiers were following the
commands of their higher authorities, that exactly being the United States of America. Obeying the
authority can sometimes be perilous, especially, when one s morals are disrupted. When you are

The Character of Moth in Love s Labor s Lost Essay
The Character of Moth in Love s Labor s Lost
Like much of Love s Labor s Lost, the young character Moth is full of paradox. When Shakespeare
has little Moth play great Hercules in the Nine Worthies, the playwright offers humor in contrasting
the physiques of the actor with his role, or as Armado puts it, Moth is not quantity enough (5.2.130)
to play the Greek god. However, Shakespeare may also be using this contradiction to compare
physical strength with mental. Although physical ability doesn t carry significance in Love s Labor

worthy of a high status. Using Moth as a Herculean figure is one of the most obvious paradoxes in

First, Moth delivers a contrasting image swift lead and then defends his oxymoron by completing
the image: lead bullets. This example demonstrates the page s cleverness, but his rhetoric always
refers to the real world and not to the one in books. Unlike Armado, who relies too heavily on
literary figures like Hercules and Sampson for self validation, Moth claims his intellect comes
from [m]y father s wit and my mother s tongue (1.2.95). Moth s roots are firmly grounded in reality.
Since Moth lives in the real world, he hasn t pursued academic interests; instead, he has studied
and understands people, and this perspective often gives him an advantage over the scholarly
characters. Most of the play s characters try using language in order to impress others. Some do
this effectively, but most do not. Moth succeeds with rhetoric where many fail because he knows
that words are tools, not toys. In other words, Moth knows how to use words to serve his
purpose, and he also knows when to keep his mouth shut. When the boy first encounters
Holofernes and Nathaniel, he calls the men s versions of Latin scraps (5.1.37). And if that isn t
insulting enough, Moth claims the two learned men have stol n such crumbs. In the face of
pretentiousness, words come easily to the boy. The page ridicules helpless Holofernes, calling the
old man a cuckold in various clever and humorous ways. Here, Moth appears to play with

Some examples are hostility, anger, resentfulness, and fear. The fourth barrieris lack of subject

the major barriers faced by employees in most organizations. When a person is under stress, they

Telephones? PCs or Cadillacs? Autos or bicycles? This inquiry is essential since assets are
restricted yet needs and needs are boundless. Society needs a ton of merchandise and
administrations, however everything can t created for everybody. Decisions must be made. Firm
should pick among the wide combination of choices while selecting which merchandise to deliver.

the possibility that individuals purchase merchandise with their wages. Presently, there is an idea.
In any case, shouldn t something be said about individuals who have no wage? With constrained

Home Depot Inventory
In April 1978 two co workers Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank were laid off from their jobs at
Handy Dan Home Improvement Centers. Bernie and Arthur dreamed up the idea of The Home
Depot while at a coffee shop in Los Angeles in 1978. Before the idea of The Home Depot came
along home improvement stores were basically small hardware stores with a limited inventory
and a limited variety of merchandise. Both Bernie and Arthur having worked at a hardware store
and being avid DIYers themselves had a vision for a home improvement super store that would
not only offer a huge variety of merchandise at great prices but would also have a highly trained
staff. These employees would have the ability to not just sell products but will be able to walk

Despite some financial difficulties in the mid 1980 s caused by over expansion. The company
opened fewer stores in 1986 and changed their stock offerings to help restructure their debts. The
Home Depot would not see another financial downfall until 2008 with the down turn of the
housing market. This lead to several thousand layoffs and the closing of 54 stores nationwide.
The Home Depot continues to grow as the leader of do it yourself home improvement. In the
early 1990 s an installation program for quality windows and carpets called EXPO was launched
with much success. They had also published a do it yourself home improvement book consisting
of over 480 pages. By 1995 The Home Depot had expanded outside of the US when it acquired the
Canadian hardware chain Aikenhead s Hardware and later entered the Mexican market in 2002
when it began construction of stores in Mexicali and

Examples Of Foreshadowing In Tangerine
Tangerine is a book full of interesting details and ideas. The protagonist, Paul, attempts to
remember what happened to his eyesight, and why he must wear thick glasses. After moving to
Tangerine, Paul meets new friends and plays his favorite sport, soccer. However, he is
constantly overshadowed by the star of his family, Erik. Paul thinks his brother Erik is a jerk,
but everybody else sees him as the great football star. In Paul s mind, he is the person that is not
blind, he can see things his parents could not. In the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor, Bloor
strategically uses suspense and foreshadowing to portray the theme of standing up to fear. First
of all, Bloor uses suspense to display fear, as in page 168, I could see Erik lurking behind me, in
the shadows of the imaginary clock. Erik is like a shadow behind Paul, always ready to jump him.
This line is full of suspense, as the meaning is not entirely clear. It can be interpreted in many
ways, however, all of it will eventually unravel and explain the mystery behind it all. Another quote

The quote Joey stared him down. No, I don t have a problem with that. I guess I got a problem
with you. This quote on page 158 talks about Joey, one of Paul s friends, talking to Tino, another
one of Paul s friends. The two do not get along very well, and all this builds up to a fight between
them. These examples of foreshadowing can be seen throughout the story. On page 258, a quote
states Tino crossed the floor and walked up to Erik. Which would mean that Tino is confronting
Erik, which builds up a lot of tension. Another quote on page 214 says Erik, you ll need to give
me your key...I got it in my locker at school, I keep a lot of my stuff there. This quote is about
Erik talking to Paul s mom about a key. Erik has his key in the locker, which makes Erik look
suspicious. Leaving his key in the locker may seem like Erik trying to hide something from Paul s

Labor Unions Essays
In this essay I ll write about union membership, membership trends, the two types and levels, and
the importance of unions. I ll also discuss some of the negative sides of unionization in corporate
America today.
Labor unions are groups or clubs of workers and employees who bond together to get good
conditions, fair pay, and fair hours for their labor. These unions are usually joined together, and
most unions in America are some branch of the largest labor union organization in the United
States, the AFL CIO with thirteen million members.
One of the largest unions is the Teamsters Union, formed in 1903, and perhaps the most
contentious, union with 1.3 million members, were expelled from the AFL CIO, in 1957. The labor
organization grew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reasons for the decline was the loss of jobs in manufacturing, which was the labor s
biggest stronghold. America has lost three million factory jobs over the past four years. The second
reason is heavily unionized industries have been decreasing. Other reasons are many firms have
moved from the unionized to the not so unionized Southeast and Southwest region and they tend to
hire nonunion workers. Some of the American companies have moved their manufacturing process
to other countries where very few unionized labor is employed. The management of the companies
is providing benefits that include higher wages and better working conditions, therefore employees
don t need to join any union. The largest growths in employment take place in the service
industries, and these industries regularly are not unionized.
The two main types of unions are craft unions and industrial unions. Craft unions are organizations
of workers with similar skills. This type of union can maintain control over the supply of skilled
laborers; often work for multiple employers in a year. (e.g. construction unions, pilot unions)
Industrial unions are organized by industry which originally started b/c ineligible for craft unions
and typically work for one employer for long period. (e.g. steelworkers, auto workers)
Unions often have several levels which are; local: workers in plant or industry in a limited
geographical area (Buhler union was CAW local 2224), national: larger union

Obama s Foreign Policy on China Essay
President Barack Obama and his administration s foreign policy toward China can be summed up in
one word: conciliatory. Conciliatory is not in the form of any weakness or appeasement, but rather
the realization that in the 21st century global market, China is a main player on the world stage.
Obama s foreign policies are a departure from the previous administration. George Bush s unilateral
foreign policies were deemed domineering, even belligerent. From an international standpoint, Anti
American sentiments were at an all time high during Iraqi War driven years. In America, the
domestic stance after 9/11 saw this as an extension of patriotism and commitment. Nowadays, both
domestically and internationally, many pundits would argue that... Show more content on

This is a double edge sword that does not have an easy solution so I understand both sides and that
no country is living in a vacuum. There are a quite a bit of complexities and consequences to
consider and I believe there will be a mutual success in this issue. Concerning Human Capital, the
Obama Administration has also pressed hard to improve the human rights issues in China in terms
of economic policies to benefit workers and their family situations. Historically, having the highest
population at a staggering figure of over $1.3 billion people, the human labor supply is more than
available at any given moment. Thus, United States especially has outsourced countless
manufacturing companies and jobs to China. This reality the President clearly stated will not
change anytime in the future so this must be an accepted reality. (Ivaneishvili 2012) So, the Obama
administration has sharply criticized China for their lack of enforcement and laws to deal with such
violations. But, this criticism as the State Department states applies to the United States as well, but
the United States has laws to deal with this issues so the criticism is being put in a way not to
outfight offend Chinese policies but to encourage an increase in the priority of the Chinese
government to follow up actions to remedy the situation (Berg 2012). The State Department also
applauded China for the actions that China already has taken to ensure better working

The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Power
Statement of intent That Nuclear power is a great way to produce power and is not as bad as it
is said to be. This will be directed teens and young adults looking for a quick read in a small
informative magazine. The following piece of writing is about how nuclear energy is a good
source of power. This is important because of the growing population and the need for electricity.
I am writing this for teens and young adults as just a small informative.Splitting the atom is a
dangerous practice that can cause widespread destruction but when used properly it is the best
source of energy possible. Not only does this method create huge amounts of energy for the
amount of fuel required, but is also incredibly environmentally friendly with a very low impact.
Nuclear energy is not as dangerous as most people believe it is.You can disagree and say nuclear
poweris dangerous but times have changed. Modern reactors and containment facilities are far
safer and more advanced now. Out of the thirty three countries operating nuclear power plants,
there have only been three major accidents. These were Fukushima, Chernobyl and Three Mile
Island. Only the Chernobyl accident in 1986 had fatalities. In fact it had the only fatalities caused
by a commercial nuclear disaster. The reactors used at Chernobyl were the very flawed and poorly
designed Soviet reactor which were designed at the birth of the nuclear age. They were unable to
cool themselves in an emergency shutdown or stop of the

Informative Speech On Salvador
Who are you? What are you? Where are you from? Questions that people are always asking and
wondering the answer to. Although I might look like I?m a different race I?m actually
Salvadorian. I?m not a quarter, nor half but a full, one hundred percent Salvadorian. El Salvador
is a tiny nation close to Guatemala located in Central America. A lot of people have told me I
don?t look hispanic or think I?m Salvadorian. They get surprised when I start speaking spanish,
see me eat traditional Salvadorian foods, or hear the music my family and I play at family
reunions or special occasions. My first language learned and spoken at home was spanish.
Although us Salvadorians speak spanish we say and pronounce certain words differently. It?s
almost like the difference between the American and British english. We speak spanish but have
different words which sometimes causes confusion to other spanish speakers. I remembered one
day me and my mexican friend were talking about her upcoming quinceanera. I remember telling
her, ?It?s going to be so much fun learning the dance moves for the special dance! Although I bet
some of the bichos are going to be messing around and acting immature?. The confusing in her face
after hearing me say that was priceless and I couldn?t help but burst out laughing. ?Did you just call
the boys insects??, she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I always refer back to my Salvadorian culture without even realizing it sometimes. I have learned
that my beliefs, values and my way of thinking can impact someone?s life. They could be
impacted in a positive or a negative way depending on how they received it. I always try to make
a change and make someone happy. My intentions are not to hurt anyone but to show respect. I am
the one who decides to whether I follow all of my cultural beliefs or not and that?s what helps me
to learn what things are going to be best that will guide me through

Many factors can influence the market such as war, inflation, and recession. Market risk is measured by the firm s beta coefficient to determine the effects the market has on the portfolio. In addition to market risk, there are two forms of risk that managers use to calculate the risk of a particular project related to holding a diversified portfolio. The projects is plotted against the market (beta) risk to determine its risk compared to the market. Much research has been done on the effects market risk has on stocks, firms, portfolios, exchange rates, and more. Research often concludes with supporting evidence that support the use of market risk for estimations and predictions in finance, since the market risk cannot be eliminated from the stock market. • 5. Effective Use Of Imagery In Marianne Moore s Poetry In Poetry , Marianne Moore explains that it is not that she does not like poetry, but it is the idea that poetry is simply not the same anymore. Poetry conveys ingenuity and candid ideas; it should be used to express one s authentic thoughts and feelings. Moore connects the use of imagery to expound on the interpretation that people do not appreciate or like what they do not understand. The poem purposely has no true structure, as it is written in free form with no rhymescheme or pattern. Moore shows her frustration with the addressed autocrats of literature and displays that by using an ironic tone in the composition of the poem. Through Moore s use of imagery, she highlights people s lack of originality and perspective. In the line Hands that can grasp, eyes that can dilate, hair that can rise if it must, these things are important not because a high sounding interpretation can be put upon them but because they are useful... The speaker s use of enjambment represents the flow of her thoughts in the poem. Every word continued over the line break has its own emphasis. For example, there are only two periods in the poem, one in the first stanza and one at the very end. Some of the dogs had a disease called Cervical Spondylomyelopathy, commonly known as Wobbler Syndrome or CSM, and some of them were perfectly normal and healthy. The cause of this disease is unknown but many believe that it is a mix of large breed dogs having a large and heavy head and long neck which can cause irregular forces on the vertebrae of the neck. The study included 15 dogs with Wobblers and 15 dogs who had no clinical signs of wobblers. In the beginning stages, wobblers causes dogs to have a funny, wobbly walk in their back legs and they will seem extra clumsy. This study used MRI scans to determine that there were no distinct differences in dogs with Wobbler Syndrome verses those who are healthy. This finding disproved the original hypothesis that it is caused by a large head and long neck.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe this study was conducted in a mostly correct manner; however, I would have liked for them to include more than one single breed of dog. Because of this, Trajan was one of the reasons that Rome could have so much land and be at the height of their power during his reign. Don Quixote Foils In the Spanish novel, The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha, written by Miguel de Cervantes, Sancho Panza is conveniently placed throughout the story to be easily compared to others. Sancho sets the point of being normal or regular for the settings and explains with actions and appearance how others are. When compared to Don Quixote, Sancho is but a simple fellow, and Quixote is a crazed old man who fantasizes being a great knight of great chivalry. This comparison is that of an obvious one, were Sancho is foil to only Quixote. In chapter twenty two, on page 152, Cervantes tells of Sancho s Family awaiting his return. • 22. John Locke s Theory Of Religious Tolerance John Locke, a 17th century English philosopher is remembered for his great contributions to three issues that was important during his time and still concerns us today. The three topics Locke covered during his lifetime was how to handle people with different religion, determining who should rule, and how to educate our children. Locke developed theories from the three topics because they played a central role in his life. Religion politics and education influence Locke s writing and because of his writing we have a foundation of modern philosophical empiricism and political liberalism. Locke was born during the 20 year English Civil War. Due to the result in the death of Charles I, England reinvented themselves so that the church and the state will be combined. Locke did not agree that the government should rule over religion. He believed in freedom of belief. His theories of religious tolerance was written in Letters Concerning Toleration (1689 92) due to the aftermath of the European wars of religion, creating reasoning for religious tolerance. Three main arguments that was stated included (1) Earthly judges, the state in particular, and human beings generally, cannot dependably evaluate the truth claims of competing religious standpoints. (2) Even if they could, enforcing a single True Religion will not work, because you can t be compelled in to believe through violence. (3) Coercing religious uniformity leads to far more social disorder than allowing diversity. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

McClellan was charged with leading the assault on Richmond, delivering what could have been a fatal blow against the Confederacy. During the Army of the Potomac s movements towards Richmond, McClellan repeatedly delayed, believing he had inferior numbers to his initial adversary, Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston. Johnston knew the caution McClellan was prone to, and slowly drew McClellan closer to Confederate forces defending Richmond. At the Battle of Seven Pines, Johnston reinforced the idea in McClellan s mind that caution was necessary. It is utilized in both micro and macro ways, such as it being used in a particular group of individuals or a mass society. In order for society to function, some aspect of authority is required. Police officers use authority to maintain order and obedience throughout communities. Parents possess characteristics of authority in order to teach children right from wrong. As well as, teachers are considered authority figures since they need to control and maintain obediencein the classroom. Authority cannot exist without obedience. Society is developed on this notion. Without authority, and its required obedience, disorder and disruption would occur. But how much obedience to authority is necessary? When is it too much or too little? Authority figures hold such power, that it quite often becomes abused. We can relate back to these questions by looking into the novel, Crimes of Power and States of Impunity , and connecting it with the element of the chain of command. Often, higher authority individuals abuse their powers, just like those involved in the scandal at Abu Ghraib. The American Soldiers were ambiguously declaring to torture, punish, interrogate, and harm the inmates prior to interrogation. Yet, these soldiers were following the commands of their higher authorities, that exactly being the United States of America. Both Bernie and Arthur having worked at a hardware store and being avid DIYers themselves had a vision for a home improvement super store that would not only offer a huge variety of merchandise at great prices but would also have a highly trained staff. These employees would have the ability to not just sell products but will be able to walk customers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite some financial difficulties in the mid 1980 s caused by over expansion. The company opened fewer stores in 1986 and changed their stock offerings to help restructure their debts. The Home Depot would not see another financial downfall until 2008 with the down turn of the housing market. This lead to several thousand layoffs and the closing of 54 stores nationwide. The Home Depot continues to grow as the leader of do it yourself home improvement. In the early 1990 s an installation program for quality windows and carpets called EXPO was launched with much success. They had also published a do it yourself home improvement book consisting of over 480 pages. By 1995 The Home Depot had expanded outside of the US when it acquired the Canadian hardware chain Aikenhead s Hardware and later entered the Mexican market in 2002 when it began construction of stores in Mexicali and ... • 42. Examples Of Foreshadowing In Tangerine Tangerine is a book full of interesting details and ideas. The protagonist, Paul, attempts to remember what happened to his eyesight, and why he must wear thick glasses. After moving to Tangerine, Paul meets new friends and plays his favorite sport, soccer. However, he is constantly overshadowed by the star of his family, Erik. Paul thinks his brother Erik is a jerk, but everybody else sees him as the great football star. In Paul s mind, he is the person that is not blind, he can see things his parents could not. In the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor, Bloor strategically uses suspense and foreshadowing to portray the theme of standing up to fear. First of all, Bloor uses suspense to display fear, as in page 168, I could see Erik lurking behind me, in the shadows of the imaginary clock. Erik is like a shadow behind Paul, always ready to jump him. This line is full of suspense, as the meaning is not entirely clear. It can be interpreted in many ways, however, all of it will eventually unravel and explain the mystery behind it all. Another quote is on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The quote Joey stared him down. No, I don t have a problem with that. I guess I got a problem with you. This quote on page 158 talks about Joey, one of Paul s friends, talking to Tino, another one of Paul s friends. The two do not get along very well, and all this builds up to a fight between them. These examples of foreshadowing can be seen throughout the story. On page 258, a quote states Tino crossed the floor and walked up to Erik. Which would mean that Tino is confronting Erik, which builds up a lot of tension. Another quote on page 214 says Erik, you ll need to give me your key...I got it in my locker at school, I keep a lot of my stuff there. This quote is about Erik talking to Paul s mom about a key. Erik has his key in the locker, which makes Erik look suspicious. Leaving his key in the locker may seem like Erik trying to hide something from Paul s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Labor Unions Essays In this essay I ll write about union membership, membership trends, the two types and levels, and the importance of unions. I ll also discuss some of the negative sides of unionization in corporate America today. Labor unions are groups or clubs of workers and employees who bond together to get good conditions, fair pay, and fair hours for their labor. These unions are usually joined together, and most unions in America are some branch of the largest labor union organization in the United States, the AFL CIO with thirteen million members. One of the largest unions is the Teamsters Union, formed in 1903, and perhaps the most contentious, union with 1.3 million members, were expelled from the AFL CIO, in 1957. The labor organization grew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the reasons for the decline was the loss of jobs in manufacturing, which was the labor s biggest stronghold. America has lost three million factory jobs over the past four years. The second reason is heavily unionized industries have been decreasing. Other reasons are many firms have moved from the unionized to the not so unionized Southeast and Southwest region and they tend to hire nonunion workers. Some of the American companies have moved their manufacturing process to other countries where very few unionized labor is employed. The management of the companies is providing benefits that include higher wages and better working conditions, therefore employees don t need to join any union. The largest growths in employment take place in the service industries, and these industries regularly are not unionized. The two main types of unions are craft unions and industrial unions. Craft unions are organizations of workers with similar skills. This type of union can maintain control over the supply of skilled laborers; often work for multiple employers in a year. (e.g. construction unions, pilot unions) Industrial unions are organized by industry which originally started b/c ineligible for craft unions and typically work for one employer for long period. (e.g. steelworkers, auto workers) Unions often have several levels which are; local: workers in plant or industry in a limited geographical area (Buhler union was CAW local 2224), national: larger union ... • 44. Obama s Foreign Policy on China Essay President Barack Obama and his administration s foreign policy toward China can be summed up in one word: conciliatory. Conciliatory is not in the form of any weakness or appeasement, but rather the realization that in the 21st century global market, China is a main player on the world stage. Obama s foreign policies are a departure from the previous administration. George Bush s unilateral foreign policies were deemed domineering, even belligerent. From an international standpoint, Anti American sentiments were at an all time high during Iraqi War driven years. In America, the domestic stance after 9/11 saw this as an extension of patriotism and commitment. Nowadays, both domestically and internationally, many pundits would argue that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a double edge sword that does not have an easy solution so I understand both sides and that no country is living in a vacuum. There are a quite a bit of complexities and consequences to consider and I believe there will be a mutual success in this issue. Concerning Human Capital, the Obama Administration has also pressed hard to improve the human rights issues in China in terms of economic policies to benefit workers and their family situations. Historically, having the highest population at a staggering figure of over $1.3 billion people, the human labor supply is more than available at any given moment. Thus, United States especially has outsourced countless manufacturing companies and jobs to China. This reality the President clearly stated will not change anytime in the future so this must be an accepted reality. (Ivaneishvili 2012) So, the Obama administration has sharply criticized China for their lack of enforcement and laws to deal with such violations. But, this criticism as the State Department states applies to the United States as well, but the United States has laws to deal with this issues so the criticism is being put in a way not to outfight offend Chinese policies but to encourage an increase in the priority of the Chinese government to follow up actions to remedy the situation (Berg 2012). The State Department also applauded China for the actions that China already has taken to ensure better working ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Power Statement of intent That Nuclear power is a great way to produce power and is not as bad as it is said to be. This will be directed teens and young adults looking for a quick read in a small informative magazine. The following piece of writing is about how nuclear energy is a good source of power. This is important because of the growing population and the need for electricity. I am writing this for teens and young adults as just a small informative.Splitting the atom is a dangerous practice that can cause widespread destruction but when used properly it is the best source of energy possible. Not only does this method create huge amounts of energy for the amount of fuel required, but is also incredibly environmentally friendly with a very low impact. Nuclear energy is not as dangerous as most people believe it is.You can disagree and say nuclear poweris dangerous but times have changed. Modern reactors and containment facilities are far safer and more advanced now. Out of the thirty three countries operating nuclear power plants, there have only been three major accidents. These were Fukushima, Chernobyl and Three Mile Island. Only the Chernobyl accident in 1986 had fatalities. In fact it had the only fatalities caused by a commercial nuclear disaster. The reactors used at Chernobyl were the very flawed and poorly designed Soviet reactor which were designed at the birth of the nuclear age. They were unable to cool themselves in an emergency shutdown or stop of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although I might look like I?m a different race I?m actually Salvadorian. I?m not a quarter, nor half but a full, one hundred percent Salvadorian. El Salvador is a tiny nation close to Guatemala located in Central America. A lot of people have told me I don?t look hispanic or think I?m Salvadorian. They get surprised when I start speaking spanish, see me eat traditional Salvadorian foods, or hear the music my family and I play at family reunions or special occasions. My first language learned and spoken at home was spanish. Although us Salvadorians speak spanish we say and pronounce certain words differently. It?s almost like the difference between the American and British english. We speak spanish but have different words which sometimes causes confusion to other spanish speakers. I remembered one day me and my mexican friend were talking about her upcoming quinceanera. I remember telling her, ?It?s going to be so much fun learning the dance moves for the special dance! Although I bet some of the bichos are going to be messing around and acting immature?.
