Policy Theories And The Governance Of Policy Policies
causes of the reform whereas few scholars investigate the policy processes. Second, from actor
specific perspective, the literature stresses the role of state actors and International Financial
Institutions (IFIs) and mentions about presence but the inefficiency of private actors, labor unions
in particular, in policy making processes. This paper aims to fulfill these gaps comprehensively and
systematically by adopting the network approach. In order to explain inefficiency of certain groups,
this paper stresses the meta governance of networks that generate hidden hierarchies within policy
networks. I call the sub structures depending on the hidden hierarchies as extreme sub structures . I
argue that these structures which are incompatible... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this sense, another gap in the literature is that its emphasis on International Financial
Institutions (IFIs) and policy makers, what I call top actors and their impact on the initiation of
the reform. On the other hand, a limited literature alludes the presence but inefficiency of the
representative of the disadvantaged groups what I call bottom actors i.e., labor unions (Baccaro
and Howell 2011; Culpepper and Regan 2014; Gulec 2016; Konstantinos and Ghellab 2014;
Sarfati and Ghellab 2012; Vuković and Babović 2014). The present paper contributes the
literature by fulfilling these two gaps. It focuses on the dynamics of policy making processes, as
the second step of Hall s formula. Beyond making implications, this paper examines the causes of
the implied inefficiency of the bottom actors and argues that their inefficiency originates from
meta governance within policy networks (Bell and Park 2006; Jessop 1997; Scharpf 1994;
Whitehead 2003). States which have a centralized authority and a statist legacy are more likely to
refuse to share their power in the traditional models. They more tend to use policy networks as a
mask of their continued meta governance and even as a means to legitimize the criticized policy
decisions made under their dominance. Policy network approach through the measures of Social

Ironing Their Clothes By Alvarez Summary
Analysis on Ironing Their Clothes
In the Alvarez, the author depicts to us a child that has much love for their family.
Although there is little time the child has to spend with the family, it has been made very clear that
the child s house keeping responsibilities show the true love for her family. The daughter has no
way of expressing love to her family so the only way she can convey her emotion is through
ironing her family s clothing. Alvarez conveys life to the apparel of her family and additionally to
the task itself of tending to those garments. She portrays the ragged pieces of clothing of her dad
to be a representation of man himself. Worn out by all the work, his garments show the same ideals.
The errands her mom does, the washing,

Essay on Human In Vitro Testing
Everyday scientists perform different tests on cells (known as in vitro testing) to assess numerous
concepts, such as drug efficiency and nanoparticle toxicity. Unfortunately, these tests do not always
provide the best or most accurate results since the human body is composed of several different cell
types, all of which interact and cause robust responses that cannot accurately be mimicked or
studied with single cells. Thus, current techniques are being employed to imitate the complexity of
the human body by using more than two celllines combined together.
Previous techniques used single cell types, or what is commonly known as a monoculture system
to study cellular responses. This is often used for simplicity and for studying single ... Show more

While monocultures are not the perfect representation of a complex system, they are still extremely
useful for science research and provide the basis for numerous different studies. With only one cell
line to study, scientists know that the response they measure is a direct result of the treatment
rather than a result of cell signaling and cell interactions.
To account for the versatility of a human system, scientists are beginning to use co culture cell
systems. These are systems that combine two or more cell lines. These types of models are
beneficial for studies because they show how a response in the body is more likely to occur.
Following toxic exposures, cells signal to each other to elicit a response to control for potential
damage. For example, when a nanoparticle is inhaled it enters the lung. Once here, depending on
the size of the particle, it travels to the alveolar region (the area of the lung responsible for oxygen
exchange with the blood). Once in this region, if the particle is toxic, our immune response is
activated. This means that immune cells, like macrophages, move toward the particle and attempt
to engulf it to prevent further toxic effects. Immune cells often release chemicals that signal to
other cells that damage has occurred. These signals then elicit responses, such as an inflammatory
response, and additional cells are

Personality And Psychodynamic Models Of Personality
Over the variation of the project, subject A has been tested over three different models of
personality. Each one provided different points to her personality and allowed for the most in
depth explanation of the subject s personality. Each of these models are also capable of acting as
a check and balance for the other. For example, between the trait and psychodynamic models.
One could compare the results from the Big 5 and how that matches to the Myers Briggs since
essentially those gave similar feedback. Once those are both taken accounted for, these could
give rise to a more accurate basis for the biological model, which is mainly inferred and not
factual in the first place. The most prominent trait across the trait and psychodynamic models
was the strength of A s introversion. In both of the personality tests taken, this was usually one
of the results that was very striking. When she was first introduced to the result of her
extraversion during the Big 5 test, only a 17, she was incredibly surprised with the data and
slightly appalled. Although she knew that was never the life of the party, she would have hardly
categorized herself as introverted. However, after reading the characteristics of introversion, she
came more to terms with the result and embraced her newly discovered trait. This helped her to
answer more accurately on the Myers Briggs which showed that she scored a 92 in introversion.
These two comparable scores allowed for an almost definitive agreement

Parent Child Relationships Essay
The purpose of this paper is to observe the interactions of a parent child dyad and apply aspects of
the theories studied in class to the observation. Since my experience working with families is
limited to brief interactions with infant children and their mothers, I have chosen to base my
analysis off of With or Without You: A Memoir by Domenica Ruta (2013). This is a relevant topic
because the parent child relationship provides significant context for human development. In order
to understand its influences, we must view parenting contributions from a variety of theoretical
perspectives of development, keeping in mind the role of context and the role of biology. It has
been interesting to read Domenica Ruta s childhood story and... Show more content on

Each stage has its own developmental task, unique to each individual experience, that must be
faced and resolved in order to achieve healthy outcomes. For Dominica, her mother would
constantly ask her to fetch things for her (i.e. soup, matches, chocolate milk, etc.), which would
distract Domenica from her school work and assignments. The family also didn t own many books
other than those Domenica brought home from the library. Even though Dominica grew up in a
household that was strewn with garbage and drug paraphernalia, where she was repeatedly told
that she was unattractive, she still developed a love for learning, reading, and was driven to
succeed. This event can be connected to Erikson s fifth stage of developing one s identity or
experiencing role confusion. Even though Dominica faced challenges, she still made an effort in
her adolescent and young adult years to discover her true self and find meaning relevant to her own
personhood. While attempting to discover her own unique identity, Dominica was also influenced
by her mother s actions and behavior, which she mimicked in addition to responding to her mother s
requests. In Social Learning Theory, Albert Bandura proposed that children acquire many skills in
the absence of rewards/punishments by watching and imitating behaviors of others. The premise of
this model is based on the idea of observational learning and modeling, through the parent child
relationship.

Compare And Contrast Buddhism Hinduism And Jainism
Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism are religions in Asian countries. Both religions have similar
beliefs and ideas; however, they differ in some aspects. For instance, Dharma means moral law
governing individual conduct conduct in the Hindu religion. In the Buddhist religion, dharma is
cosmic law and order and the teachings of Buddha. The ethical teachings of the religions are
moderately similar to my personal moral views. Yet, there is a few ideas that contradict my own.
My thoughts are very similar to karma; I believe that one gets rewarded with what he or she gives
out. I believe in the Buddhist reasoning, cause, and end of suffering. Being kind and benevolent is
an aspect in life, which I believe in deeply. This belief is very similar to the noninjury belief in
Hinduism. On the contrary, I do not believe in an afterlife. So, the concept in reincarnation. samsara
goes against my theories. Also, I don t relate to the concepts of Dharma within Hinduism. Lastly, I
never speak against other s religion. Similarly, Hinduism respects all other religions.... Show more

keeps people from doing bad. According to Hindu principles, karma can also come from a past life.
However, penalizing for acts did in a past life is unfair. If reincarnation and Samsara were real,

Copyright And Public Domain Within The Entertainment Industry

Copyright and Public Domain within the Entertainment Industry What aspects make up intellectual
property? How is it protected? According to Leslie Ellen Harris, it is important to shed light on just
what copyright is. She writes, Section 102 of the U.S. Copyright Act states the following: In no
case does copyright protection for an original work of authorship extend to any idea, procedure,
process, system, method of operation, concept, principle, or discovery, regardless of the form in
which it is described, explained, illustrated, or embodied in such work (Harris 39). Understanding

The case of A M Records Inc. v. Napster Inc., record companies brought infringement action against
Napster for the unfair use of copyrighted work and harmed the potentiality of music within the
market (239 F3d 1004, 2001). With the burgeoning of the internet age, musicians and artists were
faced with the threat of in home piracy, via file sharing programs like Napster, or Grokster.
There are claims made suggesting that copyright is a direct violation of our freedom of speech.
Within the general foundation of protection and enjoyment of those protections, rest limitations,
because of the real connection between authorization and copyright law. The goal of research is to
investigate and unearth specific facts about the history of intellectual property in relation to old and
contemporary court cases. The M. Whitmark Sons v. Pastime Amusement Decree states that
copyright is an indivisible and cannot be split up and partially assigned, as to time, place, rights
and privileges (298 F. 470, 1924). Does this case contradict the Digital Millennium Act? Are the
copyright rules in violation of any rights concerning our right to free speech? If so, how are those
rights violated? The Statute of Anne in eighteenth century Europe, was set up to prevent the

The Pros And Cons Of Car Accidents
Car accidents have become a common occurrence today. According to the State Highway Patrol,
traffic deaths around Ohio have increased for the second year in a row. There were 1,057 traffic
fatalities in 2015 as compared to 1008 fatalities in 2014 and 990 fatalities in 2014. According to a
highway patrol spokesperson, approximately 60% of Ohio s fatal crashes in 2015 involved drivers
who were not wearing a seatbelt. Nearly one third of the fatal crashes involved drivers who were
impaired by alcohol or drugs.
If you were in a car accident and nobody got injured, you should count yourself lucky. It can be
an extremely traumatic experience to suffer severe injuries or to see your passengers (friends and
/or family) hurt or injured. It is also a very stressful experience if you are the one who is at fault
and you end up injuring another driver. Therefore, car accidents that do not result in any fatalities
and major injuries can be quite a blessing. Sometimes though, the vehicles are not as lucky and may
suffer significant damage. You may ask yourself in such a situation as to who will pay the cost of
repairing your car?
The legal requirement in Cleveland, Ohio is for drivers to carry a minimum insurance policy that
includes bodily injury liability and property damage liability coverage. Specifically, the required
minimum for bodily injury liability coverage is $25,000 per person injured in an accident and
$50,000 for all persons injured in an accident. The required minimum for property damage liability
coverage is $25,000 for injury to or destruction of property of others.
Ohio is a liability state. This means that if you are in an accident and you incur medical injuries
and/or property damage, the driver who is responsible for the accident will be the one who will be
held liable for any damages. In other words, it will be the negligent driver s insurance company
who will pay you for any vehicle related damages. That is precisely why the mandatory insurance
policy in Ohio requires all drivers to carry a $25,000 property damage coverage.
However, since Ohio is a liability state and any damages paid by the parties involved in an
accident is dependent on the level of their fault, you have to keep in mind that if you

Brazilian Colonial Development Of Brazil
History
Most native tribes who were living in Brazil in the 1500 s thought they were descendants from
the first wave of migrants from North Asia. At the time of European discovery, the territory of
current day Brazil had as many as 2,000 nations and tribes, an estimated total population of nearly
3,000,000 Amerindians. ( Cia world factbook , 2016). It was discovered by a linguistic survey that
there were 188 indigenous languages with 155,000 speakers around 9000 BC. Initially Portugal had
little interest in Brazil, mainly because of high profits gained through commerce with Indochina.
After 1530, the Portuguese Crown devised the Hereditary Captaincies system to effectively
occupy its new colony, and later took direct control of the failed captaincies . ( Cia world fact
book , 2016). Sugar was the most important Brazilian Colonial product until the early 18th century.
Brazilian sugar at the time was stated as being high in quality, in comparison to those of other
nations. However, when other countries started to produce and offer sugar at a lower price, the
industry in Brazil faced a major crisis.
During the 18th century, an independent explorer named Bandeirante, discovered gold and
diamond in the state of Minas Gerais. Unfortunately, gold production declined towards the 18th
century, starting a period of relative stagnation of the Brazilian hinterland. The man power of
Amerindians and African slaves were greatly exploited in Brazil s colonial economy. ( Cia world

Los Vendidos Essay examples
Luis Valdez wrote Los Vendidos in order to address his view of the Mexican culture and in
reference to the prejudices that surrounded him. The play defines four versions of Mexican men,
shop owner Honest Sancho is trying to sell to a Secretary in Governor Reagan s political office.
The buildup of characters: The Farmworker, Johnny Pachuco, The Revolucionario, and the
Mexican American, symbolizes an evolution of what society deems the ideal Mexican American
should be. Los Vendidos translates to The Sold Ones or The Sellouts which is a solid interpretation
of Valdez s opinion on Mexican s conformity to the American culture. Valdez creates a distinct
characterization of all four models, Miss Jimenez, and Honest Sancho with snarky... Show more

The racist connotation that Miss Jimenez associates with who she thinks would fit in society s
box is a definite reflection of the hardships Valdez witnessed in his community. For example, the
Zoot Suit Riots that occurred in 1944 was rooted by a reaction by young Mexican American
males against a culture that did not want them to be a part of it. Stuart Cosgrove examines this
issue when he states, In the most obvious ways they had been stripped of their customs, beliefs
and language. (*Vargas 317) These youths were going through an identity crisis because they
did not know which culture they could identify with. Miss Jimenez is a character that embodies
that repression Valdez explains in Los Vendidos. As the scene progresses, Sancho demonstrates
the Farmworker s capabilities and strong work ethics the scene develops into a political parody.
Sancho explains this particular model is designed to go on strike. The Farmworker rebels against
society in this scene and Miss Jimenez quickly moves onto the next model in fear this outspoken
Farmworker would cause a rebellion instead of shedding positively on her (and the Reagan
administration s) view of the ideal Mexican. The play continues with Johnny Pachuco, who is the
stereotypical Mexican gangster. He is the type that uses weapons and steals from people. He has

MGMT Case Study Toyota Crisis
Case Study for MGMT
The Case Study Did Toyota s Culture Cause Its Problems? illustrates the slow reaction to safety
problems and the arrogant culture of
Toyota regarding the issue of unintended acceleration (Robbins Judge
2013). The key issues in the case study are the arrogant culture of
Toyota, miscommunication, groupthink and poor human resource management. The problems in
Toyota began with the recall of 10000
Laxus Cars in 2000 (Finch 2010, p 475), followed by a series of recalls for different models in
2010 (Robbins Judge 2013). These recalls associated with the unintended acceleration gave birth to
lots of questions regarding the countermeasures of Toyota towards safety and the culture of the

Intra organizational communication occurs inside of an organization which generally engages
organizational members (Clegg et al. 2011). In case of
Toyota, when the problems associated with unintended acceleration arose, Toyota reacted slowly
to the problems and failed to find the real cause of the crisis (Finch 2010, p.474). Later a quality
advisory panel developed by Akio Toyoda, the president of Toyota, stated that the flaws created by
the unintended acceleration damaged information sharing and miscommunication and slowed down
response time to quality and safety issues (Ohnsman 2011, cited in Taneja, Pryor, Sewell
2012, p. 128). This provides a clean example of Toyota having miscommunication within the
company.
Mass communication problem was also evident in Toyota. Mass communication reaches many
receivers from one point(Clegg et al.
2011), thus helps to build strong relationships with key Stakeholders
(Clegg et al. 2011). But, in Toyota, the corporate leaders did not have the courage to face the
public for several weeks on critical safety issues, therefore, they risked the trust of Toyota s dealers
and customers worldwide (Heller and Darling 2011, p.11). This justifies poor mass communication
in Toyota.

Social Media And Its Effects On Society Essay
Nations around the globe rely on all types of media to address the general population about
occurring events or incidents in the country. Countries such as America and China are well known
for their excessive use of the media to cover important and none important events around the nation.
The general public is affected by the media s control in many forms, which can include media
marketing of consumerism and social media. The Truman Showalludes the society in which
compliance is forced, due to the media s overwhelming control over the general public; and
argues that there is no actual media control can be broken free from, because it is a person s
choice to seek their own path to freedom. This theme is illustrated through the symbolism of the
characters of Christof, Truman s Wife Meryl, and Truman. The claim is supported by the
articles that include, 13 ways of looking at The Truman Show by Yacowar , Mapping the culture
of control by Wise J. Macgregor, and The Staging of real life by Kilborn . The central argument
that, We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented (Wise), is supported in
Mapping the culture of control by Wise because the general public want what everyone wants due
to their need of fitting in with the so called social norm.
Christof s purpose is that of a symbolic character in which he supports the media s control over the
general public. In many parts throughout the film Christof displays himself as overpowering and

Blue Trail Narrative
When I first set out for the Blue Trail I did not know what to expect. I ve been on several trails
before that were infested with overgrowth and never found them amusing, so what s so special
about this one?
Finding the trail wasn t particularly difficult, since I knew the campus from its sustainable farm to
the music building overlooking its own lawn and pond; however, once I got there I was surprised.
Right on the edge of the road, the forest had muses all around to draw inspiration from. I found
myself transfixed by every little squirrel that would not run away from me, since I was in their
world and not the other way around. Surrounded by an ocean of orange pine leaves, I wondered
how much longer until fall would come and transform everything.
THUNK. I tripped on several tree roots throughout the path and realized I was out of my element.
There wasn t that much human activity there either, besides the whooshing sound of cars passing
the road nearby or the lone blonde girl that sat along the path. Of course, I avoided talking to other
people during my walk because that would ruin the time for self contemplation. Though, I must
admit that I was distracted all around by the tree stumps, beer bottles, spiders, gnats, and rocks on
the path. But, despite seeing the red barns and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What I Thought Represented A Good Teacher
In my first field experience, I acquired many skills and knowledge in what I thought represented
a good teacher. In my total time spent in my observation hours I saw, two schools, eight different
teachers, and four different grade levels. The grades I viewed the most were first and second,
particularly because these are the grades I wish to teach in. For the majority of the time I spent
with all the grade levels, I found most of the teachers inspiring in some aspects of their lesson
cycle, teaching style and of course the creative dГ©cor around their rooms. I found that the most
inspiring or beneficial teachers were in Hondo, Texas, at Meyer elementary because of their unique
structure and compassionate curriculum for all of the students in which I want to pass on to my
students in my teaching future. At Meyer Elementary I first started with Mrs. Jessica Martinez s
class, overall I found her class to be well structured, organized and successful at most. But, She did
not have her class quite under control, and had difficulty retrieving their attention span, which I
found odd with the multiple teacher assistants she had, however I found that her lessons where
quite intriguing to the students knowledge. One lesson I found extremely stimulating was her
word of the day, in which the students compared and contrasted that specific vocabulary word
throughout the activities in their school day. The second teacher I observed was Mr. Gabe Cortez

dishes may be found all over the world.
The original sweet and sour pork has a bright red orange color, and a delicious sweet and sour
taste. The ingredients for the dish are simple. It includes pork tenderloin, egg white, and the
condiments includes salt, vinegar, wine, starch, tomatoes, and sugar. The sauce is the pith of the

Improving Procurement And Sourcing Efficiency
Pursuit for competitive advantage is vital for the survival of any business organization s supply
chain. Businesses are feeling the difficulty to improve procurement and sourcing efficiency. The
value that can be achieved through successful procurement practices is often a lot harder to achieve
than many companies actually realize. If a company expects to grow and survive, it constantly
needs to add value. Procurementis one area that has become a critical area of focus to create a more
competitive and efficient supply chain. In the past, procurement was seen as insignificant to other
areas of an organization. However, implementing cross functional teams to continually review

Fortune 500 companies like IBM, Dell, and Delta Air Lines are spending higher than 50% of
their revenues on procurement. For a long time, procurement has been looked at as negotiating to
get better prices. Many organizations still view procurement as a way to influence spending to
get discounts and lower costs from their suppliers. However, sustainability and the supply chain
risks that companies face today call for procurement to be different now. Organizations can see
real savings by looking at total cost of ownership, which can include a lot of the end to end supply
chain costs. Disruptions are unavoidable and every decision involved in the procurement process
has a risk factor to it. In order for procurement to influence and affect a company it must present a
business case that it is a value added function. An organization can add value long term with its
ability of purchasing within procurement. Organizations need to stop short term thinking because
of the high risk levels associated with this. Procurement decisions can add a lot of value to a
company, but organizations need to think of the long term implications of their decisions.
Purchasing is important to competitive advantage because it increases value and savings for a firm.
Purchasing can build relationships, drive innovation, improve quality, and reduce products time to
market. Suppliers have a huge impact on organizations total costs because most product features

Motifs In Dubliners
Two major motifs reappearing throughout the stories in Dubliners are the Messianic and Trinity
motifs. Joyce seems to have conceived Dubliners as his offering of a sacred book to the Irish
Literary Movement s attempts to spiritually arouse Ireland so that she might throw off the chains
binding her to her oppressor, England. Joyce s sacred book, however, does not flatter his
countrymen by strengthening their claims to be chosen of people of the modern world and not to
be made in the heroic image of the mythical historical Cuchulain; rather, it allows them to take a
good look at themselves in a nicely polished looking glass so that they might see the
pretentiousness of their claims. It is in great part through the two major motifs in

Nettle Analysis
Be not deceived by the appearance of things, for show is not the substance Anonymous
When we write or read there are two levels of comprehension. The first is the literary sense, where
one doesn t dive beneath the surface to find meaning. The second is symbolism. When used
properly, this tool adds meaning and depth to one s literature and allows one to recognize and
understand more thoroughly. To find a symbol of myself was no easy task, but when thought over
thoroughly, stinging nettle came to mind. One does not necessarily think of beauty, softness or
practicality when they think of stinging nettle, and yet there is so much more to this prickly plant

The Conflict Of Mr. Donaldson
1. The first conflict is existed between Mr. Waterhouse and Mr. Donaldson. The reason of the
conflict is connected with different type of decision making between these two people. Another
reason is connected with Donaldson s attitude on working. It looks like that Donaldson is a
selfish person who always does anything according to his personal point of view. talking about
the type of conflict, it is avoidance: Mr. Waterhouse observes all the annoying things that
performed by Mr. Donaldson, but he did not react actively on it. Being on doubts regarding the
future of Mr. Donaldson, he represents an example of a justification type of account giving
response on a conflict: he does not know what to do and finds justifications for his position
Another conflict is observed among Mr. Donaldson and Bettina Scheri, a woman, who organizes
his programs, and is a manager of Mr. Donaldson. A man seems to be very familiar and
unthankful here, and the conflict tends to look as competition, at least from Mr. Donaldson s point
of view. talking about the types of account giving responses, it looks like that Mr. Donaldson is on
the way of ideological account, he does not want to cope with the problem. Probably, he thinks that
he is better than his manager. 2. talking about the motivators that drive two main people in the

The Revolutions Of The Celestial Orbs By Nicolaus...
The texts The Revolutions of the Celestial Orbs by Nicolaus Copernicus and Two New Sciences by
Galileo demonstrates a powerful illustration of heliocentric hypothesis. In each book, astronomer
Nicolas Copernicus and Scientist Galileo Galilei describes their theory and assumption about the
motion and shapes of the planets and objects based on their understandings and advocating earlier
scientist s thoughts. Nicolas Copernicus describes Sun as the center of the universe, which is
spherical in shape and other planets(wanderers), which are also spherical revolve around the sun in
a Uniform, Eternal, and Circular motion. Likewise, Galileo defines the motion of massive bodies
(planets) are steady and uniform, and distance traveled by these bodies are equivalent at equal
intervals of time. However, in Idols of the Mind, Francis Bacon demonstrated that there were flaws
in the assumptions made by the scientists because they conducted the practical experiments and
theories based on their own understanding. According to his scientific investigations, past scientific
thinkers used tests and experiments based on their thoughts, which he thinks corrupts the nature of
things as they try to compound their nature with it. Copernicus and Galileo commit errors by
demonstrating theories and performing experiments based on the human understandings of
themselves and other scientists, like Aristotle. However, because this leads to the corruption of a
more natural way of thinking, Francis

Gay Latino History by Horacio Roque Ramirez
The AIDS epidemic has become an impacting plague that has expanded across multiple countries
as well as communities. As it continues its identity as a gay mans disease, its stigma generates a
negative connotation that has appealed to figures who are seen as second class individuals. In the
essay Gay Latino Histories/ Dying to be remembered: AIDS obituaries, public memory and the

Ramirez belived that it was an important matter for homosexuals to not be ashamed of being
affected with the disease as well as keeping quiet in order to avoid judgment and ridicule. Silence
had already made its presence known within the history of latino homosexuals as he refers to it
as the latino album of the dead for ten years. (Ramirez, 104). By talking about AIDS and
conveying the issue to the public, it was an easier way to speak about the disease openly.
According to Ramirez, this would be a step in a better direction as people could make reference of
the existence of queer latinos through their obituaries that were published in the newspapers
through the Bay Area Reporter. As some obituaries mentioned queer latinos deathfrom AIDS as
well as their sexual preference, Ramirez makes account of some of the obituaries masking the
disease as there was mention made to other illnesses. He states that it was often a tactical use of
code words and phrases such as cancer , pneumonia , unknown causes , or long term illnesses that
signaled yet obfuscated AIDS related death. (Ramirez, 106). This pointed out the act of giving
queers a bad name which is what the loved ones of the deceased did not want to happen. By the
covering of the truth that queer latinos were infected with AIDS, it

Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
Charter of Rights and Freedoms
The Canadian constitution is the foundation that forms and brings together our nation government
and its legal system. You can also consider the constitution as a rulebook. It contains rules and
regulations that political parties must follow in order to adopt, amend, or revoke a law. The
constitution has three main sources. In 1867 the British North American Act passed, which was the
first source of the constitution. A change was made to the BNA act and was patriated in 1982. It
was then officially called the Constitution Act 1867. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
were included in the amendments that were added to the Constitution in 1982. The act was
renamed Constitution Act 1982. The second source is the unwritten set of rules and conventions,
which is crucial in Canadian law. These rules usually are developed and later on used by
important politicians and government officials. The last source of the constitution is the court
rulings and decisions. When there are disputes or conflicts to solve, the courts are called upon to
resolve them. The charter of rights and freedoms is known as the most important piece of
paperwork to any living Canadian. (Alexandraowicz 104). It is made up of 34 sections and 9
subsections. The most significant subtopics in the charter are our fundamental freedoms, legal and
equality rights. These rights allow us to speak and do as we will under a reasonable limit, protect

Porter s Generic Strategies
Porter s Generic Strategies If the primary determinant of a firm s profitability is the attractiveness of
the industry in which it operates, an important secondary determinant is its position within that
industry. Even though an industry may have below average profitability, a firm that is optimally
positioned can generate superior returns. A firm positions itself by leveraging its strengths. Michael
Porter has argued that a firm s strengths ultimately fall into one of two headings: cost advantage and
differentiation. By applying these strengths in either a broad or narrow scope, three generic
strategies result: cost leadership, differentiation, and focus. These strategies are applied at the
business unit level. They are called... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The value added by the uniqueness of the product may allow the firm to charge a premium price for
it. The firm hopes that the higher price will more than cover the extra costs incurred in offering the
unique product. Because of the product s unique attributes, if suppliers increase their prices the firm
may be able to pass along the costs to its customers who cannot find substitute products easily.
Firms that succeed in a differentiation strategy often have the following internal strengths: Access
to leading scientific research. Highly skilled and creative product development team. Strong sales
team with the ability to successfully communicate the perceived strengths of the product. Corporate
reputation for quality and innovation. The risks associated with a differentiation strategy include
imitation by competitors and changes in customer tastes. Additionally, various firms pursuing focus
strategies may be able to achieve even greater differentiation in their market segments. Focus
Strategy The focus strategy concentrates on a narrow segment and within that segment attempts to
achieve either a cost advantage or differentiation. The premise is that the needs of the group can be
better serviced by focusing entirely on it. A firm using a focus strategy often enjoys a high degree
of customer loyalty, and this entrenched loyalty discourages other firms from competing

Benefits And Benefits Of Pay And Reward Strategies
Several pay and reward strategies can be adopted by organisations. However, each of the
strategies involves issues that must be considered as it could affect the employees and the

reward strategies, which are aligned with its own business strategies. This will ensure that
perspectives of employees, employers and the costs are all considered in the course of the
application of each strategy. The aim of this essay is to explain and evaluate the main pay and

Graded pay, broad banding graded pay, labour market related pay, performance related pay and total

Employee Performance And Achievement Of Organisational Goals
1 Introduction: 1.1 Background: Employee behaviours could often have an impact on
organisational performance and achievement of organisational goals. In any organisation, its
members could display varied behaviour where minimalists would contribute just enough to
maintain affiliation while others may exhibit overt and discretionary behaviour which is beyond
their stipulated job description and likely to benefit the organisation (Turnipseed and Rassuli:
2005). This latter behaviour where the employee goes the extra mile proactively engaging in
such activities has been described by various nomenclatures such as Organisational Citizenship
Behaviour (OCB) by Organ (1988) as cited in Organ (1997), pro social organisational behaviour
(Brief and Motowidlo: 1986), contextual performance (Borman and Motowidlo: 1993) and extra
role behaviour (Van Dyne et al: 1995). OCB has been one of the important and popular research
subjects in the recent years. It emphasizes on the most preferred employee level outcomes at
workplace (Bateman and Organ 1983, Smith et al 1983, Anderson and Williams: 1996). Although
the concept of OCB was proposed by Bateman and Organ in the early 1980s, the origins of this
concept could be traced back to early 1960s when Katz recognized three distinct behavioural entities
for the proficient functioning of an organisation. This includes induction and retention of the

With this being said, mad cow disease is also always fatal. Any cow that has ever been diagnosed
with mad cow disease has died from the disease. I, personally, am surprised that doctors have not
been able to at least slow down the effects of this disease. So, without needing to be said, mad cow
disease is a cow s biggest nightmare. The effects of mad cow disease on cattle are very obvious.
This disease is not one in which you see a cow grazing and it looks perfectly fine, but a disease in
which the cow looks as if it has no control over its own body and mindlessly wanders around. That
is because having no control over its own body is exactly what happens. As you may or may not
know, cows tend to stay pretty closely together in a field. Well, a cow with mad cow disease will
not necessarily stay with the herd. It may wander off completely from the herd for no apparent
reason at all. You may also see a mad cow disease ridden cow stagger and miss steps. This is just
another sign of mad cow disease in cattle. When a cow gets certain types of sicknesses or illnesses,
it may lose weight. Well, the same can be said for a cow with mad cow disease. As a result of the
cow losing a lot of weight, it will also become very weak and it may also become hard for it to hold
itself up for very long. Now, I m not saying that any cow that loses weight because of an illness
has mad cow disease, but it is one of the effects

Bhopal, Bhopal And Its Effects
Thirty years ago in Bhopal, India, an accident at the Union Carbide pesticide plant led to around
thirty tons of highly toxic gases to fill the air and spread through the nearby towns. When the
accident occurred, over 600,000 people were exposed to the very deadly gas. Over the past
years, 15,000 people have been killed by the disaster and it s effects. (Union Carbide
Corporation, 2001 2014) Toxic material still remains in Bhopal to this day. (Taylor, 2014) This
accident occurred in 1984 at the Union Carbide plant, which had been established in Bhopal in
1969. Reports began months before the disaster of the possibility of a huge accident. Staff had
been being laid off for weeks prior and that had led to less and less safety checks. (Taylor, 2014)
The gas that leaked is named Methyl Isocyanine. Methyl Isocyanine is used as a popular pesticide.
When in it s liquid form, the chemical is odorless and very flammable. In a gas though, it is highly
toxic and irritating. The organic compound can also be found in small amounts in certain cigarettes.
Union Carbide was using Methyl Isocyanate as an intermediate. Methylamine was made to react
with phosgene to produce the Methyl Isocyanate, which then reacts with 1 naphthol to form
carbonyl, which is the final product. The accident was triggered when water entered Tank E610,
which contained more than 40 tons of methyl isocyanate, initiating a runaway reaction. (Ganesh,

Introduction
Abnormal psychology can be defined as the study of mental disorders. It includes the topics and
problems that are very common in our daily lives. TV, newspapers, magazines and websites,
frequently expose the cases of celebrities and famous personalities that suffer from drinking, eating
or some other kind of mental disorder.
The purpose of writing this paper is to explore the origin of the field of abnormal psychology, its
evolution into scientific discipline and briefly discuss the different psychosocial, biological and
socio cultural theoretical models related to the development of abnormal psychology.
Origins of Abnormal Psychology
The field of abnormal psychology tuned out to be a scientific discipline in the last century but
the introduction of the abnormal behaviour started as early in the Biblical history (Damour and
Hansell, 2008). The initial explanation of the mental illness was a spiritual approach built on an
assumption that the meta physical spirit world can affect the real observable world. This
assumption and belief on psychotherapy initiated the practice of boring holes in the skull of a
person in order to take out the evil spirit. This medical process of actually performed in 3000 B.C

Rowling changed her name so that she would be discriminated and could write her novels.
Rowling had unprecedented success, gaining millions of fans among boys and girls of all ages,
even adults. In fact, Rowing became so famous, she had to Change to another name, Robert
Galbraith. That s so she could write detective novels. She thought since she had a new name that
would mean a new start or a new chance to do something different. Like the book called, Harry
Potter. This is what she said when she was asked why she chose a new name, she said, and I
quote, I was yearning to go back to the beginning of a writing career in this new genre, to work
without hype or expectation and to receive totally unvarnished feedback. It was a fantastic
experience and I only with it could have gone on a little longer than it

So processes and practices that firms utilize in order to manage knowledge are really important for
attaining strategic objectives by harnessing complexity and making the best use of existing
resources and capabilities (Zack, 1999a; Zollo and Winter, 2002). It could be forecasted that
empirical study of social network would occupy an important position in the field of management
and the guiding role of the research would become more obvious.( Yonghai, Y,2010)
Several years ago, one of the major challenges in knowledge management is to explore creative
ways to convert the tacit knowledge base in organisations into explicit knowledge (Nonaka,
1994). But with the development of social network and social media, this challenge seems already
had a good solution. Now more and more researchers have already realized the importance of social
networks and social Medias to the KM.
Knowledge management
Recently, knowledge management (KM) has already been recognized as a key instrument to
improve effectiveness and performance in the organization (Zack et al., 2009). The OECD has
recognised that knowledge and technology have become drivers of productivity and economic
growth in modern economies in 1996.

The Ethics of Cloning Essay
Imagine a world where everyone looked like you and was related to you as a sibling, cousin, or
any form of relation, wouldn t that be freaky? Although cloning is not an important issue presently,
it could potentially replace sexual reproduction as our method of producing children. Cloning is a
dangerous possibility because it could lead to an over emphasis on the importance of the genotype,
no guaranteed live births, and present risks to both the cloned child and surrogate mother. It also
violates the biological parent child relationship and can cause the destruction of the normal
structure of a family. The cloningof the deceased is another problem with cloning because it
displays the inability of the parents to accept the child s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reproductive cloning could essentially replace sexual reproduction and change the way of life for
future generations.
There are two main types of Reproductive Cloning, Blastomere Separation (Embryo Splitting)
and cloning by somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) technology (Cibelli et al. 478). Blastomere
separation is the making of multiple copies of a genome by separating or multiplying the
individual cells of an early embryo (Cibelli et al. 478). This process can make multiple identical
genotypes possible. SCNT Technology is the use of a somatic (body) cell nucleus from an
existing (or deceased) person to copy the genome of that individual (Cibelli et al. 478). There are
two uses to this technology, the procreative uses and the deliberate replicative uses. People who
cannot have a biologically related child any other way would use the procreative SCNT
technology. It appeals to both gays and lesbians or just people who want to avoid transmitting a
disease through sexual reproduction (Cibelli et al. 478). The purpose is to obtain a healthy child
who is directly related to his/her parents, not to re create a living genotype (Cibelli et al. 478). On

Numerical Modeling And Validation Of Neo Hookean Materials

Project title: Numerical modelling and validation of Neo Hookean materials in an automotive
design application
1. BACKGROUND AND SUMMARY
1.1BACKGROUND
Cauchy elastic materials, also known as simple elastic materials are a type of material in which the
stress at each point can only be determined from the state of deformation in which it is currently in
with respect to a arbitrary co ordinate system [1]. The fact that these stresses depend solely on the
state of deformation means that these stresses, which cause work, can depend on the path in which
the material deforms. This translates to the material being conservative, also known as a
hyperplastic material (e.g. rubber).
Hyper elastic material, also know as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally, the hydraulics pressure is generated from either the geroter (generated rotor), or a
rotary vane pump, which are driven by the engine of the vehicle. The turning of the wheels is
done by a hydraulic cylinder which has a force applied to it from a hydraulic cylinder, which is
directly controlled by valves allowing for flow according to the drivers steering. The more force
applied by the driver allows for a grater flow in the hydraulic system thus, allowing for a greater
displacements of the steering heel, leading to an increased turning rate of the vehicle.
Considering hydraulic pumps are designed to in effect only during positive displacement the speed
of the engine, directly relates to the flow rate of the hydraulic pump meaning that at high speeds
the cars steering operates easier and faster compared to low speeds.
FIGURE 2: Power steering unit layout [3].
The equivalent linear stiffness of the dust boot covers is important for the feel of the steering, and
the packaging constraints in that area are restrictive so a trade off needs to be found between the
maximum diameter (minimum stiffness) of the concertina folded cover and the effect of the
stiffness on the steering.
1.2 LITERATURE REVIEW
Thin wall structures comprised of hyper elastic materials are commonly found throughout many
engineering disciplines (i.e. mechanical and biomechanical engineering). Such devices are utilized

There are different methods for models to emulate surfaces. Usually, the model will choose the
most common surface type in the particular grid box and that is the one that, wins or the model
uses. This means that the model is only represented by that particular type of surface. The other
method is the model finding the average albedo, soil types, surface roughness, and different
characteristics to average out to find what the surface is. However, we parameterize and the
model uses the most frequent type of surface of the year to represent. Initially we don t want to
waste computing power on the different types of surfaces, that is why these two types of
methods for figuring model surfaces is used. 8.Radiation models should be concerned with
melting snow because of the different albedos (shortwave radiation). New bright white snow has
a high albedo, meaning it reflects more incoming solar radiation. Old snow becomes darker and
not as bright over time. This will cause a low albedo where more energy is absorbed. Melting
snow causes part of the ground to be exposed, so this can affect the radiation differently for
portions of the ground that do have snow on it vs. portions of the ground that don t have snow
cover. 9.There are complications when it comes to models dealing with vegetation as one large
plant being the entire surface for the grid box. First of all, this causes effects on the surface and
boundary layer temperatures, moisture, and other forecast factors.

Fermentation Lab
DISCUSSION
In reference to Figure 1, the results indicated that the liquid medium created through the juice of
strawberries resulted in the highest rates of fermentation. However, while initially at the 5, 10, and
15 minute marks, the rate of fermentation of strawberries was the lowest out of all of the liquid
mediums; from the 15 minute mark to the 20 minute mark, the height of the bubbles rapidly
increased. The second highest rate of fermentation was from the water, which was used as a
constant in the experiment. After the water, it was the grape juice that had the next greatest rate of
fermentation, subsequently proceeded by oranges, and then lemons which had the lowest rates of
fermentation. Each of the rates of fermentation was determined by looking at the height of the
bubbles, in the last 5 minute interval, the 20 minute mark of the lab. When comparing the results to
the hypothesis, it is seen that certain parts of the results do not support the hypothesis. It was
hypothesized that the liquid mediums created by fruits such as grapes, would result in a higher rate
of fermentation. It was then expected to be followed by oranges, strawberries, and lemons
respectively. However, the results show that when strawberry juice was... Show more content on

Since the rate of fermentation of yeast in the strawberry trials may have increased due to a higher
concentration of elements such as zinc and magnesium, conducting future experiments that are
more specific to nutrients such as zinc and magnesium may assist in gaining an insight into their
role in yeast growth and fermentation. Rather than keeping the experiment too broad with various
factors to consider within the fruit juices, focusing on isolating for specifically added supplements
may also help in further understanding the nutritional requirements of

The Swimmer By John Cheever
Shep Davis Mrs. Smith English 102 27 April, 2016 The Swimmer In the short story The
Swimmer John Cheever characterizes Neddy in a selfish and content manner to illustrate his
detachment from society. The swim that Neddy starts in the beginning of the play seems fun
and innocent in nature. He enjoys stopping at all of his friends and families house drinking
every time after he finishes swimming the pool. The drinking depicts his easy lifestyle, lack of
care for the world, and his detachment from society. The repetition of drinking eventually is
what brings him to his cold and bewildered reality because he has suppressed everyone around
him by only wanting to swim. At the end of the story he is left with no friends to talk with or
family to care for him because he has been self centered. He also is unaware of what has
transpired while he was swimming. This displays his mindsets lack of care for others he just
wants to drink and have a good time. However as he progresses he goes further into his loop of
the pools, and he desires to swim in more and more. This loop symbolizes his life, and how he is
not progressing or doing anything important with it. He wants to just go around in circles hiding
from reality. The irony is he is left poor and all of his friends leave him. His entire image of life,
and how he wanted to live was based on himself and money. After the money disappeared so did
his companions because he was living a life that did not value relationship or care.

  • 2. Policy Theories And The Governance Of Policy Policies causes of the reform whereas few scholars investigate the policy processes. Second, from actor specific perspective, the literature stresses the role of state actors and International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and mentions about presence but the inefficiency of private actors, labor unions in particular, in policy making processes. This paper aims to fulfill these gaps comprehensively and systematically by adopting the network approach. In order to explain inefficiency of certain groups, this paper stresses the meta governance of networks that generate hidden hierarchies within policy networks. I call the sub structures depending on the hidden hierarchies as extreme sub structures . I argue that these structures which are incompatible... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this sense, another gap in the literature is that its emphasis on International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and policy makers, what I call top actors and their impact on the initiation of the reform. On the other hand, a limited literature alludes the presence but inefficiency of the representative of the disadvantaged groups what I call bottom actors i.e., labor unions (Baccaro and Howell 2011; Culpepper and Regan 2014; Gulec 2016; Konstantinos and Ghellab 2014; Sarfati and Ghellab 2012; VukoviД‡ and BaboviД‡ 2014). The present paper contributes the literature by fulfilling these two gaps. It focuses on the dynamics of policy making processes, as the second step of Hall s formula. Beyond making implications, this paper examines the causes of the implied inefficiency of the bottom actors and argues that their inefficiency originates from meta governance within policy networks (Bell and Park 2006; Jessop 1997; Scharpf 1994; Whitehead 2003). States which have a centralized authority and a statist legacy are more likely to refuse to share their power in the traditional models. They more tend to use policy networks as a mask of their continued meta governance and even as a means to legitimize the criticized policy decisions made under their dominance. Policy network approach through the measures of Social Network Analysis (SNA) is an efficient way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ironing Their Clothes By Alvarez Summary Analysis on Ironing Their Clothes In the Alvarez, the author depicts to us a child that has much love for their family. Although there is little time the child has to spend with the family, it has been made very clear that the child s house keeping responsibilities show the true love for her family. The daughter has no way of expressing love to her family so the only way she can convey her emotion is through ironing her family s clothing. Alvarez conveys life to the apparel of her family and additionally to the task itself of tending to those garments. She portrays the ragged pieces of clothing of her dad to be a representation of man himself. Worn out by all the work, his garments show the same ideals. The errands her mom does, the washing, ... • 5. Essay on Human In Vitro Testing Everyday scientists perform different tests on cells (known as in vitro testing) to assess numerous concepts, such as drug efficiency and nanoparticle toxicity. Unfortunately, these tests do not always provide the best or most accurate results since the human body is composed of several different cell types, all of which interact and cause robust responses that cannot accurately be mimicked or studied with single cells. Thus, current techniques are being employed to imitate the complexity of the human body by using more than two celllines combined together. Previous techniques used single cell types, or what is commonly known as a monoculture system to study cellular responses. This is often used for simplicity and for studying single ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While monocultures are not the perfect representation of a complex system, they are still extremely useful for science research and provide the basis for numerous different studies. With only one cell line to study, scientists know that the response they measure is a direct result of the treatment rather than a result of cell signaling and cell interactions. To account for the versatility of a human system, scientists are beginning to use co culture cell systems. These are systems that combine two or more cell lines. These types of models are beneficial for studies because they show how a response in the body is more likely to occur. Following toxic exposures, cells signal to each other to elicit a response to control for potential damage. For example, when a nanoparticle is inhaled it enters the lung. Once here, depending on the size of the particle, it travels to the alveolar region (the area of the lung responsible for oxygen exchange with the blood). Once in this region, if the particle is toxic, our immune response is activated. This means that immune cells, like macrophages, move toward the particle and attempt to engulf it to prevent further toxic effects. Immune cells often release chemicals that signal to other cells that damage has occurred. These signals then elicit responses, such as an inflammatory response, and additional cells are ... • 6. Personality And Psychodynamic Models Of Personality Over the variation of the project, subject A has been tested over three different models of personality. Each one provided different points to her personality and allowed for the most in depth explanation of the subject s personality. Each of these models are also capable of acting as a check and balance for the other. For example, between the trait and psychodynamic models. One could compare the results from the Big 5 and how that matches to the Myers Briggs since essentially those gave similar feedback. Once those are both taken accounted for, these could give rise to a more accurate basis for the biological model, which is mainly inferred and not factual in the first place. The most prominent trait across the trait and psychodynamic models was the strength of A s introversion. In both of the personality tests taken, this was usually one of the results that was very striking. When she was first introduced to the result of her extraversion during the Big 5 test, only a 17, she was incredibly surprised with the data and slightly appalled. Although she knew that was never the life of the party, she would have hardly categorized herself as introverted. However, after reading the characteristics of introversion, she came more to terms with the result and embraced her newly discovered trait. This helped her to answer more accurately on the Myers Briggs which showed that she scored a 92 in introversion. These two comparable scores allowed for an almost definitive agreement ... • 8. Parent Child Relationships Essay The purpose of this paper is to observe the interactions of a parent child dyad and apply aspects of the theories studied in class to the observation. Since my experience working with families is limited to brief interactions with infant children and their mothers, I have chosen to base my analysis off of With or Without You: A Memoir by Domenica Ruta (2013). This is a relevant topic because the parent child relationship provides significant context for human development. In order to understand its influences, we must view parenting contributions from a variety of theoretical perspectives of development, keeping in mind the role of context and the role of biology. Each stage has its own developmental task, unique to each individual experience, that must be faced and resolved in order to achieve healthy outcomes. For Dominica, her mother would constantly ask her to fetch things for her (i.e. soup, matches, chocolate milk, etc.), which would distract Domenica from her school work and assignments. The family also didn t own many books other than those Domenica brought home from the library. Even though Dominica grew up in a household that was strewn with garbage and drug paraphernalia, where she was repeatedly told that she was unattractive, she still developed a love for learning, reading, and was driven to succeed. This event can be connected to Erikson s fifth stage of developing one s identity or experiencing role confusion. Even though Dominica faced challenges, she still made an effort in her adolescent and young adult years to discover her true self and find meaning relevant to her own personhood. While attempting to discover her own unique identity, Dominica was also influenced by her mother s actions and behavior, which she mimicked in addition to responding to her mother s requests. • 9. Compare And Contrast Buddhism Hinduism And Jainism Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism are religions in Asian countries. Both religions have similar beliefs and ideas; however, they differ in some aspects. For instance, Dharma means moral law governing individual conduct conduct in the Hindu religion. In the Buddhist religion, dharma is cosmic law and order and the teachings of Buddha. The ethical teachings of the religions are moderately similar to my personal moral views. Yet, there is a few ideas that contradict my own. My thoughts are very similar to karma; I believe that one gets rewarded with what he or she gives out. I believe in the Buddhist reasoning, cause, and end of suffering. Being kind and benevolent is an aspect in life, which I believe in deeply. This belief is very similar to the noninjury belief in Hinduism. On the contrary, I do not believe in an afterlife. So, the concept in reincarnation. samsara goes against my theories. • 11. The Pros And Cons Of Car Accidents Car accidents have become a common occurrence today. According to the State Highway Patrol, traffic deaths around Ohio have increased for the second year in a row. There were 1,057 traffic fatalities in 2015 as compared to 1008 fatalities in 2014 and 990 fatalities in 2014. According to a highway patrol spokesperson, approximately 60% of Ohio s fatal crashes in 2015 involved drivers who were not wearing a seatbelt. Nearly one third of the fatal crashes involved drivers who were impaired by alcohol or drugs. If you were in a car accident and nobody got injured, you should count yourself lucky. It can be an extremely traumatic experience to suffer severe injuries or to see your passengers (friends and /or family) hurt or injured. It is also a very stressful experience if you are the one who is at fault and you end up injuring another driver. Therefore, car accidents that do not result in any fatalities and major injuries can be quite a blessing. Sometimes though, the vehicles are not as lucky and may suffer significant damage. You may ask yourself in such a situation as to who will pay the cost of repairing your car? The legal requirement in Cleveland, Ohio is for drivers to carry a minimum insurance policy that includes bodily injury liability and property damage liability coverage. Specifically, the required minimum for bodily injury liability coverage is $25,000 per person injured in an accident and $50,000 for all persons injured in an accident. The required minimum for property damage liability coverage is $25,000 for injury to or destruction of property of others. Ohio is a liability state. This means that if you are in an accident and you incur medical injuries and/or property damage, the driver who is responsible for the accident will be the one who will be held liable for any damages. In other words, it will be the negligent driver s insurance company who will pay you for any vehicle related damages. That is precisely why the mandatory insurance policy in Ohio requires all drivers to carry a $25,000 property damage coverage. However, since Ohio is a liability state and any damages paid by the parties involved in an accident is dependent on the level of their fault, you have to keep in mind that if you ... At the time of European discovery, the territory of current day Brazil had as many as 2,000 nations and tribes, an estimated total population of nearly 3,000,000 Amerindians. ( Cia world factbook , 2016). It was discovered by a linguistic survey that there were 188 indigenous languages with 155,000 speakers around 9000 BC. Initially Portugal had little interest in Brazil, mainly because of high profits gained through commerce with Indochina. After 1530, the Portuguese Crown devised the Hereditary Captaincies system to effectively occupy its new colony, and later took direct control of the failed captaincies . ( Cia world fact book , 2016). Sugar was the most important Brazilian Colonial product until the early 18th century. Brazilian sugar at the time was stated as being high in quality, in comparison to those of other nations. However, when other countries started to produce and offer sugar at a lower price, the industry in Brazil faced a major crisis. During the 18th century, an independent explorer named Bandeirante, discovered gold and diamond in the state of Minas Gerais. Unfortunately, gold production declined towards the 18th century, starting a period of relative stagnation of the Brazilian hinterland. Stuart Cosgrove examines this issue when he states, In the most obvious ways they had been stripped of their customs, beliefs and language. MGMT Case Study Toyota Crisis Case Study for MGMT The Case Study Did Toyota s Culture Cause Its Problems? illustrates the slow reaction to safety problems and the arrogant culture of Toyota regarding the issue of unintended acceleration (Robbins Judge 2013). The key issues in the case study are the arrogant culture of Toyota, miscommunication, groupthink and poor human resource management. The problems in Toyota began with the recall of 10000 Laxus Cars in 2000 (Finch 2010, p 475), followed by a series of recalls for different models in 2010 (Robbins Judge 2013). In case of Toyota, when the problems associated with unintended acceleration arose, Toyota reacted slowly to the problems and failed to find the real cause of the crisis (Finch 2010, p.474). Later a quality advisory panel developed by Akio Toyoda, the president of Toyota, stated that the flaws created by the unintended acceleration damaged information sharing and miscommunication and slowed down response time to quality and safety issues (Ohnsman 2011, cited in Taneja, Pryor, Sewell 2012, p. 128). This provides a clean example of Toyota having miscommunication within the company. Mass communication problem was also evident in Toyota. Mass communication reaches many receivers from one point(Clegg et al. 2011), thus helps to build strong relationships with key Stakeholders (Clegg et al. 2011). But, in Toyota, the corporate leaders did not have the courage to face the public for several weeks on critical safety issues, therefore, they risked the trust of Toyota s dealers and customers worldwide (Heller and Darling 2011, p.11). This justifies poor mass communication in Toyota. Human Resource Management The lack of skilled Human Resource Management was noticeable throughout the Toyota crisis. Human Resource ... • 16. Social Media And Its Effects On Society Essay Nations around the globe rely on all types of media to address the general population about occurring events or incidents in the country. Countries such as America and China are well known for their excessive use of the media to cover important and none important events around the nation. The general public is affected by the media s control in many forms, which can include media marketing of consumerism and social media. The Truman Showalludes the society in which compliance is forced, due to the media s overwhelming control over the general public; and argues that there is no actual media control can be broken free from, because it is a person s choice to seek their own path to freedom. This theme is illustrated through the symbolism of the characters of Christof, Truman s Wife Meryl, and Truman. The claim is supported by the articles that include, 13 ways of looking at The Truman Show by Yacowar , Mapping the culture of control by Wise J. Macgregor, and The Staging of real life by Kilborn . The central argument that, We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented (Wise), is supported in Mapping the culture of control by Wise because the general public want what everyone wants due to their need of fitting in with the so called social norm. I ve been on several trails before that were infested with overgrowth and never found them amusing, so what s so special about this one? Finding the trail wasn t particularly difficult, since I knew the campus from its sustainable farm to the music building overlooking its own lawn and pond; however, once I got there I was surprised. Right on the edge of the road, the forest had muses all around to draw inspiration from. I found myself transfixed by every little squirrel that would not run away from me, since I was in their world and not the other way around. Surrounded by an ocean of orange pine leaves, I wondered how much longer until fall would come and transform everything. THUNK. I tripped on several tree roots throughout the path and realized I was out of my element. There wasn t that much human activity there either, besides the whooshing sound of cars passing the road nearby or the lone blonde girl that sat along the path. In my total time spent in my observation hours I saw, two schools, eight different teachers, and four different grade levels. The grades I viewed the most were first and second, particularly because these are the grades I wish to teach in. For the majority of the time I spent with all the grade levels, I found most of the teachers inspiring in some aspects of their lesson cycle, teaching style and of course the creative dГ©cor around their rooms. At Meyer Elementary I first started with Mrs. Jessica Martinez s class, overall I found her class to be well structured, organized and successful at most. But, She did not have her class quite under control, and had difficulty retrieving their attention span, which I found odd with the multiple teacher assistants she had, however I found that her lessons where quite intriguing to the students knowledge. Joyce s sacred book, however, does not flatter his countrymen by strengthening their claims to be chosen of people of the modern world and not to be made in the heroic image of the mythical historical Cuchulain; rather, it allows them to take a good look at themselves in a nicely polished looking glass so that they might see the pretentiousness of their claims. The texts The Revolutions of the Celestial Orbs by Nicolaus Copernicus and Two New Sciences by Galileo demonstrates a powerful illustration of heliocentric hypothesis. In each book, astronomer Nicolas Copernicus and Scientist Galileo Galilei describes their theory and assumption about the motion and shapes of the planets and objects based on their understandings and advocating earlier scientist s thoughts. Nicolas Copernicus describes Sun as the center of the universe, which is spherical in shape and other planets(wanderers), which are also spherical revolve around the sun in a Uniform, Eternal, and Circular motion. Likewise, Galileo defines the motion of massive bodies (planets) are steady and uniform, and distance traveled by these bodies are equivalent at equal intervals of time. However, in Idols of the Mind, Francis Bacon demonstrated that there were flaws in the assumptions made by the scientists because they conducted the practical experiments and theories based on their own understanding. According to his scientific investigations, past scientific thinkers used tests and experiments based on their thoughts, which he thinks corrupts the nature of things as they try to compound their nature with it. Employee Performance And Achievement Of Organisational Goals 1 Introduction: 1.1 Background: Employee behaviours could often have an impact on organisational performance and achievement of organisational goals. In any organisation, its members could display varied behaviour where minimalists would contribute just enough to maintain affiliation while others may exhibit overt and discretionary behaviour which is beyond their stipulated job description and likely to benefit the organisation (Turnipseed and Rassuli: 2005). This latter behaviour where the employee goes the extra mile proactively engaging in such activities has been described by various nomenclatures such as Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) by Organ (1988) as cited in Organ (1997), pro social organisational behaviour (Brief and Motowidlo: 1986), contextual performance (Borman and Motowidlo: 1993) and extra role behaviour (Van Dyne et al: 1995). The organic compound can also be found in small amounts in certain cigarettes. Union Carbide was using Methyl Isocyanate as an intermediate. Methylamine was made to react with phosgene to produce the Methyl Isocyanate, which then reacts with 1 naphthol to form carbonyl, which is the final product. The accident was triggered when water entered Tank E610, which contained more than 40 tons of methyl isocyanate, initiating a runaway reaction. Historical Perspective of Abnormal Psychology Running head: ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY Historical Perspective of Abnormal Psychology [Student s Name] [Name and Section no of Course] [Instructor s Name] [Date] Introduction Abnormal psychology can be defined as the study of mental disorders. It includes the topics and problems that are very common in our daily lives. TV, newspapers, magazines and websites, frequently expose the cases of celebrities and famous personalities that suffer from drinking, eating or some other kind of mental disorder. The purpose of writing this paper is to explore the origin of the field of abnormal psychology, its evolution into scientific discipline and briefly discuss the different psychosocial, biological and socio cultural theoretical models related to the development of abnormal psychology. Origins of Abnormal Psychology The field of abnormal psychology tuned out to be a scientific discipline in the last century but the introduction of the abnormal behaviour started as early in the Biblical history (Damour and Hansell, 2008). The initial explanation of the mental illness was a spiritual approach built on an assumption that the meta physical spirit world can affect the real observable world. This assumption and belief on psychotherapy initiated the practice of boring holes in the skull of a person in order to take out the evil spirit. This medical process of actually performed in 3000 B.C in Bolivia, Peru and also in the pre Hispanic Azrtec and Incan Civilizations (Shieff, Smith ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So processes and practices that firms utilize in order to manage knowledge are really important for attaining strategic objectives by harnessing complexity and making the best use of existing resources and capabilities (Zack, 1999a; Zollo and Winter, 2002). It could be forecasted that empirical study of social network would occupy an important position in the field of management and the guiding role of the research would become more obvious.( Yonghai, Y,2010) Several years ago, one of the major challenges in knowledge management is to explore creative ways to convert the tacit knowledge base in organisations into explicit knowledge (Nonaka, 1994). But with the development of social network and social media, this challenge seems already had a good solution. Now more and more researchers have already realized the importance of social networks and social Medias to the KM. Although cloning is not an important issue presently, it could potentially replace sexual reproduction as our method of producing children. Cloning is a dangerous possibility because it could lead to an over emphasis on the importance of the genotype, no guaranteed live births, and present risks to both the cloned child and surrogate mother. It also violates the biological parent child relationship and can cause the destruction of the normal structure of a family. The cloningof the deceased is another problem with cloning because it displays the inability of the parents to accept the child s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reproductive cloning could essentially replace sexual reproduction and change the way of life for future generations. There are two main types of Reproductive Cloning, Blastomere Separation (Embryo Splitting) and cloning by somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) technology (Cibelli et al. 478). Blastomere separation is the making of multiple copies of a genome by separating or multiplying the individual cells of an early embryo (Cibelli et al. 478). This process can make multiple identical genotypes possible. SCNT Technology is the use of a somatic (body) cell nucleus from an existing (or deceased) person to copy the genome of that individual (Cibelli et al. 478). There are two uses to this technology, the procreative uses and the deliberate replicative uses. People who cannot have a biologically related child any other way would use the procreative SCNT technology. It appeals to both gays and lesbians or just people who want to avoid transmitting a disease through sexual reproduction (Cibelli et al. 478). The purpose is to obtain a healthy child who is directly related to his/her parents, not to re create a living genotype (Cibelli et al. 478). On the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Numerical Modeling And Validation Of Neo Hookean Materials Student number: s3378766 Project title: Numerical modelling and validation of Neo Hookean materials in an automotive design application 1. BACKGROUND AND SUMMARY 1.1BACKGROUND Cauchy elastic materials, also known as simple elastic materials are a type of material in which the stress at each point can only be determined from the state of deformation in which it is currently in with respect to a arbitrary co ordinate system [1]. The fact that these stresses depend solely on the state of deformation means that these stresses, which cause work, can depend on the path in which the material deforms. This translates to the material being conservative, also known as a hyperplastic material (e.g. rubber). Hyper elastic material, also know as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generally, the hydraulics pressure is generated from either the geroter (generated rotor), or a rotary vane pump, which are driven by the engine of the vehicle. The turning of the wheels is done by a hydraulic cylinder which has a force applied to it from a hydraulic cylinder, which is directly controlled by valves allowing for flow according to the drivers steering. The more force applied by the driver allows for a grater flow in the hydraulic system thus, allowing for a greater displacements of the steering heel, leading to an increased turning rate of the vehicle. Considering hydraulic pumps are designed to in effect only during positive displacement the speed of the engine, directly relates to the flow rate of the hydraulic pump meaning that at high speeds the cars steering operates easier and faster compared to low speeds. FIGURE 2: Power steering unit layout [3]. The equivalent linear stiffness of the dust boot covers is important for the feel of the steering, and the packaging constraints in that area are restrictive so a trade off needs to be found between the maximum diameter (minimum stiffness) of the concertina folded cover and the effect of the stiffness on the steering. 1.2 LITERATURE REVIEW Thin wall structures comprised of hyper elastic materials are commonly found throughout many engineering disciplines (i.e. mechanical and biomechanical engineering). Usually, the model will choose the most common surface type in the particular grid box and that is the one that, wins or the model uses. This means that the model is only represented by that particular type of surface. The other method is the model finding the average albedo, soil types, surface roughness, and different characteristics to average out to find what the surface is. However, we parameterize and the model uses the most frequent type of surface of the year to represent. Initially we don t want to waste computing power on the different types of surfaces, that is why these two types of methods for figuring model surfaces is used. 8.Radiation models should be concerned with melting snow because of the different albedos (shortwave radiation). New bright white snow has a high albedo, meaning it reflects more incoming solar radiation. Old snow becomes darker and not as bright over time. This will cause a low albedo where more energy is absorbed. Melting snow causes part of the ground to be exposed, so this can affect the radiation differently for portions of the ground that do have snow on it vs. portions of the ground that don t have snow cover. 9.There are complications when it comes to models dealing with vegetation as one large plant being the entire surface for the grid box. • 48. Fermentation Lab DISCUSSION In reference to Figure 1, the results indicated that the liquid medium created through the juice of strawberries resulted in the highest rates of fermentation. However, while initially at the 5, 10, and 15 minute marks, the rate of fermentation of strawberries was the lowest out of all of the liquid mediums; from the 15 minute mark to the 20 minute mark, the height of the bubbles rapidly increased. The second highest rate of fermentation was from the water, which was used as a constant in the experiment. After the water, it was the grape juice that had the next greatest rate of fermentation, subsequently proceeded by oranges, and then lemons which had the lowest rates of fermentation. Each of the rates of fermentation was determined by looking at the height of the bubbles, in the last 5 minute interval, the 20 minute mark of the lab. When comparing the results to the hypothesis, it is seen that certain parts of the results do not support the hypothesis. It was hypothesized that the liquid mediums created by fruits such as grapes, would result in a higher rate of fermentation. It was then expected to be followed by oranges, strawberries, and lemons respectively. However, the results show that when strawberry juice was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Swimmer By John Cheever Shep Davis Mrs. Smith English 102 27 April, 2016 The Swimmer In the short story The Swimmer John Cheever characterizes Neddy in a selfish and content manner to illustrate his detachment from society. The swim that Neddy starts in the beginning of the play seems fun and innocent in nature. He enjoys stopping at all of his friends and families house drinking every time after he finishes swimming the pool. The drinking depicts his easy lifestyle, lack of care for the world, and his detachment from society. The repetition of drinking eventually is what brings him to his cold and bewildered reality because he has suppressed everyone around him by only wanting to swim. At the end of the story he is left with no friends to talk with or family to care for him because he has been self centered. He also is unaware of what has transpired while he was swimming. This displays his mindsets lack of care for others he just wants to drink and have a good time. However as he progresses he goes further into his loop of the pools, and he desires to swim in more and more. This loop symbolizes his life, and how he is not progressing or doing anything important with it. He wants to just go around in circles hiding from reality. The irony is he is left poor and all of his friends leave him. His entire image of life, and how he wanted to live was based on himself and money. After the money disappeared so did his companions because he was living a life that did not value relationship or care. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
