Narrative Essay On Study With Children
Studying With Children!
When people think of starting over, a lot of different things come to mind. Starting over could be
simply going back to the drawing board in a business venture, rewriting an English paper, or
rearranging your life. Even rearranging your life can be from many different aspects. Alcoholics
need to start over. Gamblers need to start over. Divorced people need to make a new start as well.
In which direction does starting over take you?
Starting over for me first of all meant finding a way to keep up with all of the payments a married
couple acquire with a home and kids. Everyone always says, you ll be just fine. And I suppose that
is true. Financially there is always a job out there. Maybe not a high paying ... Show more content

As quickly as she was concerned, she now runs to catch up with Emily. I call the swing! yells Laura.
I can hear Emily scream, Me first!
...I m glad they have each other.
Self esteem plays another important factor. You keep hearing his voice taunting, You ll never
make it without me! So you get a minimum wage job and go home and cry every night and keep
asking yourself, Where did I go wrong? After years of being told graduating top of your class
meant nothing, you believe it. Anybody can graduate above 13 classmates he chimes with a
cynical and annoying laugh. All of your self confidence is gone. Now you have two jobs that pay
minimum wage.
Your emotions get in the way. You find yourself pondering the same questions. Can I do it after
all this time? Can I still type? I ve been Mom and a wife for over nine years. What has changed
since I was a self sufficient individual?
Then it happens. You begin to come out of your shell. Instead of two minimum wage jobs, you
land a really great job with benefits and you are home every night at 4:30 for the kids. You feel
good about yourself.
Hey Jackie! Have you lost weight? You really look great! he says. I can t help but blush.

Jovian Planets Research Paper
I would have to say that the atmospheres of Jovian planets and the atmospheres of terrestrial planets
similar because they are all part of the same primordial solar nebula. Another similarity is that, they
both move around the Sun at an angle orbit with changing eccentricities. Despite the fact, the Jovian
and terrestrial planets differ in structure, they both have a solid core which in turn makes the cores
of the terrestrial planets are larger than the cores of the Jovian planets.
The textbook defines Jovian planets as the Jupiter like planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
These planets have relatively low densities (Lutgens Tarbuck, 2011, pg 430). The atmospheres of
the Jovian planets in our solar system are made mostly of hydrogen

Friedrich Froebel and Marie Clay Essay example
Friedrich Froebel and Marie Clay Friedrich August Wilhelm Froebel was born in Oberweissback,
Germany in April 21, 1782 (Ransbury, 1995). He was the sixth child of a Lutheran Minister, but
lost his mother before his first birthday. As a young boy, he played and explored in the gardens
surrounding his home most of the time. His deep love of nature would later influence his
educational philosophy. He did not become educated until age eleven. When he was fifteen years
old, he was apprenticed to a Forester. He then studied at the University of Jena. He accepted a
teaching position at the Frankfurt Model School in Yverdon, Switzerland. This school was based on

The occupations were tasks that taught skills useful in later life such as weaving, folding paper,
stringing beads, perforating paper, modeling with clay, lacing cards, follow the dots, and joint and
stick construction (Jalongo and Isenberg, 2000). He also believed children were brought closer
to God through song, dance, plays, and games. Froebel called his approach to education self
activity and self representation ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000; Ransbury, 1995). Therefore the teacher s
role is as a guide, not a lecturer ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000). He was also the first to introduce the
concept of curricula appropriate to a child s developmental level (Woodill,1995).
Froebel designed Kindergarten to children s needs in physical activity, the development of sensory
awareness and physical dexterity, creative expression, exploration of ideas and concepts, the
pleasure of singing, the experience of living among others, and satisfaction of the soul ( Friedrich
Froebel , 2000). Until his death in 1852, he was devoted to making Kindergarten known. The
German immigrants brought the idea of Kindergarten to the United States in the nineteenth century.

Peabody established the first English Kindergarten and training school in Boston in 1860 (Sadker

The World War I Ended
In late June 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated. A rise of threats and
mobilization orders followed the event, leading to the outbreak of World War I, which pitted
Germany, Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Empire (the so called Central Powers) against Great
Britain, France, Russia, Italy and Japan (the Allied Powers). The Allies were joined after 1917 by
the United States. The four years of the Great War as it was then known saw unprecedented levels
of carnage and destruction, thanks to grueling trench warfareand the introduction of modern
weaponry such as machine guns, tanks and chemical weapons. By the time World War I
ended in the
defeat of the Central Powers in November 1918, more than 9 million soldiers had been killed and
21 million more wounded. New weapons revolutionized combat in World War One.
Combat morphed from a rapid, noble and relatively ephemeral thing to a new model: trench warfare.
There were many wars before the Great War, or World War 1. The Revolutionary war and The
Civil War were the two major wars before the occurrence of World War 1. Both of these wars
produced many casualties. During The Civil, at least 618,000 Americans died. Today, The Civil
War still has the greatest number of American casualties than any other war. Another major war
prior to the First World War was the American Revolution. During this time there was
approximately 50,000 dead or wounded American soldiers.
The technology during these two wars was very

J.D. Salinger s A Perfect Day for Ortgies Essay
J.D. Salinger s A Perfect Day for Bananafish
At first glance, J.D. Salinger s short story A Perfect Day for Bananafish is the story of a
psychically torn war veteran whose post traumatic stress moves him to take his own life while on a
second honeymoon with his wife. Indeed, that is the story, but that first glance does not reveal the
inner motives and symbolic pathways Seymour Glass takes to reach the final decision to end his
life. The carefully placed details and minute innuendoes are deliberate on Salinger s part, and they
represent pieces of the puzzle to find out what is really happening in the protagonist s head. Indeed,
A Perfect Day is just one part of the Glass family saga, and Seymour s character and family ... Show

Now, if instead of ?See More? Glass we define him as ?See More Glass? then I have a slightly
more cryptic interpretation for his name. Now, the Glass family is Jewish, as is established in
Salinger?s Nine Stories, and Seymour is a veteran of World War II. Before America?s
involvement in the war, on November 9th, 1938, there was a very violent uprising of Reich
citizens against the Jewish population orchestrated by Joseph Goebbels. During that time
thousands Jewish citizens were rounded up for concentration camps and their businesses were
destroyed, littering the streets with glass from their storefronts. That night came to be known as
the Kristallnacht, or in English, the ?Night of Broken Glass.? Though I know there is no direct
link to this night in the story, and indeed it took place before Seymour was even in Europe, it has
a direct link to the first major violence against Jews as well as a sharp spike in the number of
Jewish adults who committed suicide to escape the horrors of the Reich. The perhaps far fetched, I
feel this more esoteric interpretation of Seymour?s name could well represent the link to the
horrors he experienced during his tenure in World War II.
A name is a metaphysical representation of a person, but there are physical hints in Seymour?s
characterization that hint towards a greater purpose in his actions. Muriel tells her mother that he
wears his bathrobe on the beach so that people won?t see his

Gangs in Prison Essay
Introduction
Prison gangs are originally formed by inmates as a way of protecting themselves from the other
inmates. These gangs have turned out to be violent and thus posing a threat to security. This paper
will have a look at the different gangs in prisons, their history, beliefs and missions, and the
differences and similarities in these gangs.
The Aryan Brotherhood
The Aryan Brotherhood started in 1964 was founded by Tyler Bingham and Barry Mills who were
white supremacists and Irish American bikers. It started at the San Quentin state prison. The prison
group was created to protect white prisoners from the black inmates. The cause changed into

The Black Guerrilla Family
The Black Guerrilla Family was started in the year 1966 by W.L. Nolen, Lester Jackson, James
Carr and other racist who were black in the San Quentin state prison in California. The founders
adopted the militia structure and ideology of the Symbionese Liberation Army. The gangs were
started so as to unite the black prisoners and get rid of a violent uprising. This uprising was
believed to be from a racist prison administration that was white. The gang attracted thousands
black American offenders, and was listed for a number of staff assaults and the murder of Marin
County judge in 1970. Its territory is in California and some selected areas in the United States. It
also has a paramilitary kind of structure. It has around 50,000 members. If one wants to join the
gang, one has to be black and must be nominated by an existing member. They have a symbol of a
dragon that is attacking a gun tower of a prison. This gang is still growing in most of the American
prisons with some of its members outside the confinement.
The Folk Nation
The Folk nation was founded in 1978, in Chicago, along with the People Nation. The Folk Nation
groups include the Black Disciples, Black Gangster Disciples, the Gangster Disciples, the

Real Estate And Its Effects On The Economy Essay
Real Estate Investing Real Estate has been a driving force in world economies since the days of
Babylon, one of the most fantastic developments the world has ever known, and the desire to

The union needs to be made to look as a useless entity and the company needs to be looked as a

Beautiful skin symbolizes proper hydration, and proper hydration allows our skin to prosper. For
some of us, however, acne can prevent our skin from reaching its full potential due to occasional

This paper explores three main facets of carbon dioxide: carbon dioxide as an atmospheric threat,

Thus, the study explores scientific insight into the aspects of carbon dioxide and reflects its
spiritual significance for responsible Christian action.
This examines the hazards, the production, and a potential solution to the looming problem of
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. COв‚‚, or carbon dioxide, is a greenhouse gas that plays a
significant role in global warming. Power generation (see Figures 1 and 2) and manufacturing
industries contribute to the production of carbon dioxide. Finally an effective climate change plan
should integrate emission cuts and CCS. Releasing CO2 in the atmosphere is harmful to the
environment in several ways. The combustion of fossil fuels releases new COв‚‚ in the
atmosphere. Fossil fuels are made of hydrocarbons. When burned, these substances change form
and enter the atmosphere as carbon based gases . The EPA concludes that 90% of carbon gases
released into the atmosphere are from the combustion of fossil fuels. So, industrial combustion is
the primary culprit of such COв‚‚ production (West, 2009).
Consequentially, such carbon based gases pollute the air near the earth s surface , create smog,
and increase the amounts of atmospheric greenhouse gases which contribute to global warming as
diagrammed in Figure 1 (West, 2009). Coal, for instance, does not always burn cleanly as it often
includes toxic elements (West, 2009). Thus the use of coal is hazardous for

the children to memorise word to word from books and posters and Children sat in rows at desks

stimulating and exciting for children. Nevertheless through her experience Montessori discovered
children want to learn, and they will do it in their own time frame and they shouldn t be forced.
The new education that she invented will make learning fun, spontaneous and challenging. She
diminished the traditional method of teaching by starting her children with writing. She felt the
traditional method of teaching was very teacher oriented and it lacks the role of children in
education. The teacher dominates the class and gives instructions to the whole class. The children
s role is to sit, listen and absorb the information from teacher s traditional academic instruction.
Teachers sets the Curriculum materials themselves at a rapid pace plus the materials are not
catered for individual needs. They are treated in a same manner; therefore teachers are not being

Black Canadians have shaped Canadian heritage and identity through their involvement in Canada s

I took a new approach with this project, where I thought about what type of room I was making
the shade for, as a person will have different lighting needs for each room, and shades should vary
based on that purpose. Many of the designs I saw were similar in their shape, but it was the
decoration that varied. I took a bedroom light shade as my challenge, where I wanted to make a
shade that could create a soft light, where the light would not shine directly down, but rather
flow to the ceiling and around. The shape itself was quite simple; a truncated cone which would
hang from the ceiling, with a smaller cone placed inside. The idea was that the majority of the
light would reflect back towards the ceiling, where it could fill the room, while a small amount
would come through the small gap between the cones. With this project, I made a similar task
for myself, to make a Christmas themed lantern. This was to explore the possible functions of
lighting and lamp shades, as well as how form follows function, so while my plan was to create
a decorative lantern with a Christmas look; it wasn t difficult for the form to create itself. I

made in specific locations to highlight the drawing, and it was then made to a cylinder where I

A Single Person, Group, Event Or Community
Case studies are in depth investigations of a single person, group, event or community.
Typically, data are gathered from a variety of sources and by using several different methods
(e.g. observation interviews). The research may also continue for an extended period of time, so
processes and developments can be studied as they happen. The case study started with the
clinical studies where the medical history was recorded over a period of time and similar cases
were handled with same procedure and identical symptoms were considered to group the diseases
in one genera. In case study the hierarchy of events is recorded which have happened in the past
leading to the current events and forecasting their effects in the future. The data for the case study
can be collected from various sources which are easily accessible on the internet such as annual
reports of the company, articles and blogs of the employees and the website content. For the
detailed insight data, interview can be used as an effective tool .the facts can be gathered from the
individual, friends, family, employer and other people surrounding the individual on which the case
is studied.

Essay on The Social Construction of Gender Roles
The Social Construction of Gender Roles Gender or sex roles are the expected patterns of
behavior assumed to follow from a person s sex. Gender roles are not natural. They are formed by
and vary within society, culture, geographic location, politics and time. There is a strong
relationship between the social construction of genderand compulsory heterosexuality. People are
programmed into certain gender roles and social categories through socialization and interaction
with others. Expectations about appropriate gender rolecharacteristics and sexual behavior have

In 1920, women won the right to vote and they were gradually moving into the male dominated
labor force, but gender roles were not changing much. Due to the World War II draft, many women
entered the labor force and even helped run the country. Upon the return of the veterans, many
women were forced back into their homes. However, the opportunities for women were
broadening and some women began making careers for themselves outside of the home. The 1960
s saw many feminist movements and in 1963 the Equal Pay Act was passed by Congress which
enticed more women to get out of the house and into better careers.
Men had difficulties accepting and adjusting to changes in women s roles. They had to adjust to
having women around them at their job sites and some felt that women were filling positions that
an unemployed man should have been given. Men also felt that the traditional male role as
provider was being threatened, so some men did not allow their wives to enter the labor force.
Most men, however, have gradually accepted women in the career world. Today, men are even
taking on roles that were once deemed female like nursing, homemaking and teaching.
There are many social agents that cause the construction of gender roles. Parents and family are
important socialization agents in the gender role development of children. They have different

Brief Summary Of The Book Calling Maggie May
Calling Maggie May is a book that any teenager can have a connection to or relate to, I have also
connected to this book in many ways and here s why. She is a sixteen year old girl like me who
is trying to find her place in the world. Trying to search for something better but also not
knowing what that something is. She does what she is told and tries her best in school to get
good grades and constantly worrying about making anyone disappointed in her especially her
parents, that s also what it s like for me i work hard also to maintain decent grades and doing
homework everyday there s a lot of stress that comes with school and on top of that just wanting
to make my parents proud is a feeling i can understand very well as i read this book. As i got to a
mid way point in the book i can also see her parents point of view and how they were always
worrying about her and that yelling at her may have not been an ideal way to handle the
arguments they had it s just that they don t want to see her fail and they start to notice a change in
their daughter s behavior she comes home late, drunk and she is wearing clothes they have never

wanted to make decisions for herself and she feels that her parents are holding her back from that
and i completely can relate to wanting to make your own decisions instead of having my parents
make all the choices for me i would rather take charge and decide for myself what to do, and she

the California. And how did that change the people, economic, political and environmental
effects. The Gold Rush is a rapid movement of people to a newly discovered Goldfield. Gold rush
was arguably one of the most significant events to build American history during the first half of

Most of these were white men who came from New England. However, Native Americans, free
blacks, and enslaved African Americans also worked the mines. Thousands of experienced
miners came from Sonora in Mexico. Other foreign miners came from Europe, South America,
Australia, and China. Most of the Chinese miners were peasant farmers who fled from a region
that had suffered several crop failures. By the end of 1851, one of every 10 immigrants was the
Chinese who used to backbreaking labor in their homeland, the Chinese proved to be patient

American miners resented the success of the Chinese and were suspicious of their different foods,

Logan: A Stand Out Superhero Movie
In the past few years, the superhero genre has risen into the movie industry. This year alone, six
superhero movies were released. The superhero genre is popular among young adults. While big
studios like Marvel and DC are competing for audiences, many overlook Fox studio, which has
been making critically acclaimed superhero movies like the X Men way before the surge of the
genre. The competition between studios create an oversaturation making it hard for films like
Logan to stand, but it does this and more. Logan not only transcends the superhero genre but also
turns the superhero format on its head. Logan incorporates elements found in the drama, road
trip, and western genre and emphasizes emotion over action. Set in a post apocalyptic future,
Logon tells the story of a broken down Wolverine in his older years, taking care of Charles.
Despite his reluctance to engage in any more conflicts, he is forced to escort Laura, a young girl,
to safety. Although Logan may be criticized for its one dimensional villains and overdone story,
director James Mangold, successfully crafted an excellent film that separates itself from the genre
through realistic characters and a simplistic plot.
Most of the time, Logan centralizes on its main characters, so it is understandable that other
characters are not as fleshed out. The villains came off as uninteresting and forgettable. Boyd
Holbrook played Donald Pierce, a generic villain with no reason why he is

The Behavior Rating Profile, Second Edition Is An...
BRP2 Summary
The Behavior Rating Profile, Second Edition is an instrument that s designed for student s
ranging from 6 to 18. The purpose of the BRP 2 is to help identify students with emotional,
behavioral, personal, or social adjustment problems in many settings. The BRP 2 assesses
behavior at home, in school, and in interpersonal relationships for individuals. According to
Kelley, Reitman, Noell (2003), The system is comprised of six elements, which can be used
independently, or in conjunction with each other to provide a more ecological view of the
individual s behavioral functioning (p. 132). There are three Student Rating Scales, a Parent
Rating Scale (home), a Teacher Rating Scale (school), and a Sociogram (peers). The Sociogram is
not really a scale, but provides a classroom based peer nomination procedure. The assessment
should be given to the teacher, the parents, and used to observe Jay during a peer interaction
This assessment was chosen, because each after reviewing the many components of this assessment
it gives information to help find interventions regarding Jay s behavior. For example, the Parent
Rating Scale will help discover underlining issues at home that might contribute to Jay s ongoing
behavior. One of the cons of this assessment is that Spanish version is available, however, it was
normed in Mexico and caution should be applied to interpreting these norms with Spanish speaking
students from the United States. Assistive technology does not play

and differences between two different people and how they may look the same as the other, but

society think more about the term humanitiesitself and see what problems have been socially
constructed in society in general. We want to teach society, not to judge a book by its cover and

Objectives Of The Operation Andreas
German Nazis developed the Operation Bernhard during the Second World War, as a continuation
of the so called Operation Andreas. The goal of both operations was to flood the UK with
counterfeit notes to provoke a shock effect in UK economy in both national and international scale.
The experience of Germany in the inter war period served as an example of the devastating effects
of hyperinflation in an economy. The plan focused on the printing of counterfeit notes with the
largest number in circulation, ВЈ5, ВЈ10, ВЈ20, and ВЈ50. It also contemplated the production of
US dollars but in a lesser extent because of technical difficulties.
Operation Bernhard started in 1942 when Himmler revived the operation and assigned the mission
to Bernhard KrГјger, an SS Major. KrГјger purpose was to improve Operation Andreas to make it
more efficient. He moved the production centre to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, near
Berlin, and employed Jewish prisoners to produce counterfeit British notes. Around 142 Jewish
were part of the operation, being isolated from the rest of the camp to avoid the spread of any
detail about the mission. This group of prisoners managed to reproduce almost perfectly the British

Notes On The Y Formacion Del Derecho

Understanding A Child Needs And Child Development
Understanding a child needs and the way to interact with them a key knowledge to create different
ways for the child to development at their appropriate age level. In the beginning of the semester, I
only have some knowledge of child development. I didn t know the method of teaching a child are
even to speak to them. After this class and participating in programs relating to children s
development, such as Jumpstart, i slowly understand the importance of ways to express and take to
the children. The environment that a childgrows in affects a child in a certain degree that would
either be negative or positive. For example, if a child is growing in a place that lack of space and
material to manipulate, then the child will have lack of that skill he or she is supposed to acquire
at a certain age and that will maintain for a lifetime. On the other hand, if the child have the
spacious environment to implement play meaning that child would have enough material to
develop the developmental skills that is appropriate for his or her age. In a classroom, it is best that
there is enough materials for each individual that are able to use to reach the developmental skills. I
think the most important thing that a classroom should have is natural lighting, which meaning
that there should be windows. In early childhoodcenters located in spaces not originally designed
for children....create a safe, healthy, and engaging environment ( Smith, 2013 p.9). I know that

Liberia is unlikely most Sub Saharan countries, because Liberia has always been what is called a

Slaves. Liberia quickly became a republic by 1847 with the helping hand of American Politics.
While Liberia was not colonized in the traditional sense. Liberia still displayed some problems that
traditionally colonized countries suffered from. Liberia suffered the mirroring image problem, the
two publics problem, and corruption.
Liberia, like many French and British colonies, wanted to mirror the white republic and be the
black republic. Essentially Liberia wanted to be the Black United States of America. This is what

The Jericho Tower
One of the greatest mysteries of the Neolithic period in Ancient Israel is the Jericho Tower. At a
time first attempting permanent village settlements, building a monumental tower was not done on
a whim. The tower represents the first monumental building structure in the Levant, but what was it
built for? This question has been on the minds of archaeologists for years. The three main theories
behind the tower are for defensive purposes, floodprevention, and in clock towerfunction. Neolithic
society had just begun forming agricultural communities, but there were still factions of pastoral
nomads wandering the hills. The first theory behind the construction of the Jericho Tower was
for defensive purposes. The wall, which in one place is supported by the Tower, and the size
and shape of the Tower itself point to being a set of defensive structures for the settlement.
However, since the Tower is on the inside of the wall, the ability to shoot invaders is greatly
prohibited. If this was a tower for defense, it would likely be put on the outside of the wall in
order to have better accuracy with oncoming invaders. Another reason the Tower probably was not
a defensive structure is the lack of hostile attacks in the region. There are very few signs of other
fortified settlements in this region and there has been no... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Quruntul is only one part of the clock tower theory. The next part considers the placement of the
Tower with the alignment of the summer solstice. At the time of building the Tower, it is very
likely that the sunset on the summer solstice would line up with the Tower and Mt. Quruntul. If so
this depicts the shift from pastoral nomads to agricultural villages that is occurring. Telling time is
an important feature of farming because it sets the time for the planting season. Thus, if the Tower
was built to signal when the summer season began, it indicates that Jericho was moving into a more

Pros And Cons Of Political Parties
A Political Party is defined as a formal coalition of interests joined together to get their candidates
for public office elected under a common label and agenda. Political Parties, over time, have
seemed to do more harm than good for our nation. The founders of America never even intended
for this nation to be separated into two different Political Parties. There is nothing which I dread so
much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and
concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded
as the greatest political evil under our Constitution. John Adams, The Works Of John Adams,
Second President Of The United States. Political Parties were never intended to be an exercised idea
in the American government. Our founding fathers had emphasized their hatred for the division of
our republic. All obstructions to the execution of the laws, all combinations, and... Show more

The question to behold is, are Political Parties really representing who the American voters are?
People oftentimes express that the people of their own political parties are not really giving a
good image for the people of their own party. Hillary Clinton was supposed to represent the
Democratic party for the 2017 election. With being such an admirable figure any mistake can be
taken and a sign of being a liar, deceptive, and manipulative. Those who support her and her
Political Party are perceived to be a lying, deceptive, manipulator, but that does not mean that her
followers are. The same concept can be applied to Trump, oftentimes he is seen to have no filter,
as a racist, and even sexist as well, and again the same thing can be said about Trump; just because
he is viewed as that, that does not mean that his followers are the same

Under the construction it involves the issue that revenue should be recognised continuously. Some
of the contracts are fixed price based contracts but they will not remain fixed as the contract extends
over a long period of time that s when the contract may include escalation clauses. At the stage of
completion that is determined by the reference of the contract costs incurred to date ,the cost will
reflect on the work performed that is in the costs incurred to date .Contract costs which are excluded
may involve the contract costs that applies to the future activities that is on the contract, this
includes the costs of the materials that have been brought to a contract site but not yet used during
the contract performance .Also the payments made to subcontractors in advance of work performed

Most of the businesses can recognise their revenue in a financial year but businesses like
construction are a long term thing and accounting books are done yearly. The accounting of long
term contracts have some complications and the IRS requires the contractors to have a way they
work out their contract and have to reach for an agreement. Normally a contract is a long term and
if not completed in the same tax year it is started, not considering the time that is needed to
complete the job, therefore a specific accounting method has to be used in the first year of the
contract start. There are two common

The Oppression Of Oceania In George Orwell s 1984
The citizens of Oceania in George Orwell s, 1984 were portrayed as soulless humans that just
traipsed the Earth without emotions or feelings. The novel was written as an ominous for future
generations, but very little probability exists that the novel would have foreboded today s
society. The expression of a mood, and a warning. The mood it expresses is that of near despair
about the future of a man, and the warning is that unless the course of history changes, men all
over the world will lose their human qualities, will become soulless automatons, and will not even
be aware of it. (The Afterword of 1984) The world today does not relate much to the themes read in

In 1984, the people, except Winston and Julia, were shown as brainless robots. The
Oceanians were indoctrinated and had no thoughts, understanding, or emotions. Big Brother had
taken control of every aspect of their lives and the Party craved the power more and more. The
Party s ultimate goal was to dehumanize humans. This is not possible in the real world because
people today are closed minded and indecisive. In America, this would never work because of our
government, there is a checks and balances system that makes it so that one branch or person can
never have too much power, making it so a Big Brother figure would be insurmountable.
On the contrary, the modern world isn t so different from the dystopia of 1984. Human qualities
like compassion are nonexistent in the Party citizens. The news shows the people that senseless

The History Of Wine Production
The history of wine production traces back thousands of years, with the earliest evidence of a
wine like drink located in China circa and estimated to be of at 7000 BC. Wine was the center of
the agricultural culture of many civilizations like the Romans, the Phoenicians and the Greeks, who
considered winea divine drink of the gods. Wine remains until today one of the largest components
of the agricultural production in the Western civilization (Appendix 1).
Grapevine is one of the most economically and socially important crops around the globe. Grapes

The past few years however, groups have been trying to address the cultivation techniques from
another perspective; by genetically modifying grapevines.
Realizing the global significance of wine, scientists specializing in plant biology, viticulture and
enology from the major wine producing areas (USA, Australia, France, Canada, Chile, Italy,
Germany, Spain and South Africa) launched the International Grape Genome Program (IGGP) in
the beginning of the century. It involves a cooperative genome sequence analysis of the species
Vitis Vinifera, one of the most common grapevine species.
The goal of the IGGP is to provide insights into the molecular biology of the species. Using genetic
tools, scientists are attempting to modify specific parts of the Vitis genome to produce higher
quality wine, disease resistant crops and provide a database for producers to plant the right
species with respect to the specific environment of their production site. According to data
collected in 2007, half of the grape genome has been mapped, which includes more than 22800
nucleotide sequences and the project is expected to grow even more the next years. The data has
been placed in the public databases of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).

Asylum Seekers And Refugees Analysis
UNHCR (2015) records that 2015 saw the highest number of displaced people seeking refugee and
asylum seekers in different countries. Whereas many European nations have been considerate
enough to open the borders for these unfortunate people, Australia has remained very passive
responding to the world refugeecrisis.
In fact asylum seeker and refugee policies remain as one of the most controversial political debates
in Australia. In the recent years the Austrian government has been adopting various strict
measurements mainly as a political response to the increasing number of asylum seekers and
refugees. Australian major political parties have been keen to adopt deterrence based policies to
discourage and prevent access to protection in Australia.

What Role Did Discus Play In Ancient Sports
Ancient Games and Sports Paper Discus
Joelle Jackson, Cassie Hayes, Ragan Davis and Grace Fischel
Latin II G6
9.8.17.
Discus, an ancient athletic game originating in the ancient Greek Olympics, was one of the first
games in the athletic competition. A throwing contest involving a weighted metal or stone disc,
known as a discus, comparable to the modern day frisbee, competitors competed to see who could
throw the disc the farthest. Representing one fifth of the pentathlon event, the discus throw was a
popular Olympic event. It was later incorporated into the modern Olympics at the time of their
conception in 1896 (Encyclopedia Brittanica 1). Discus is still practiced similarly to ancient times,
as a track and field event in both minor and major competitions around the globe.

The Interpreter Of Maladies Analysis
Have you ever wondered what a person was actually feeling? Are they actually happy or was it all
just a show, a figurative mask? In the story The Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri, many
topics, including that of appearance, are generated. On the topic of appearance, everyone, including
those around you, puts on a figurative mask to cover or hide their true emotions. Characters in this
story use objects, ranging from cameras to a rear view mirror, to hide their feelingsfrom those
around them. The central theme of this story is that things aren t always as they appear and this
theme is developed using characterization and the motif of sight. The first character to begin
hiding their emotions using an object was Mr. Das, who used a camera to hide the fact that he
wants his family to seem happy. For instance, near the end of the story, when the family stops
near a cave to take a picture, Mr. and Mrs. Das argue when Mrs. Das doesn t want to get out of
the van with the family. Mr. Das says But we could use one of these pictures for our Christmas
card this year. We didn t get one of all five of us at the Sun Temple. Mr. Kapasi could take it.
(Lahiri, pg 24) In this piece of evidence, Mr. Das wants to take a picture as a family so it can be
used as a Christmas card. This family picture was supposed to cover the fact that Mrs. Das was
complaining about being in, to make them all seem happy, despite the fact that they may be feeling
something else. This is important to the theme, as it shows that the family may seem happy,
however, nothing is always as it seems. In addition, closer to the end of the story, when Mrs.
Das decides to be in the picture near the cave, Mrs. Das s child, Bobby goes missing. When Mrs.
Das is approaching, Mr. Das says, Just in time. We ll get Mr. Kapasi to take the picture of the
five of us. ... I don t know. Ronny, where s Bobby? (Lahiri, pg 28) In this piece of evidence, the
family gets ready to take the picture, when they realize, they don t know where Bobby is. As
previously mentioned, the family picture was to cover up what they re actually feeling and how
disorganized the family actually is, as in they had lost their child to find him getting beat by a
group of monkeys.

The Pros And Cons Of Guerilla Warfare
Insurgency must not be jumbled up with terrorism as they overlap somehow but are totally
different entities. These two such concepts probably lead to more confusion than any other thing.
Guerilla warfare and insurgencies are often inferred to be similar with terrorism. One rationale for
this is that insurgencies has similar targets as that of terrorism. However, if we examine specific
differences, a prime difference is that an insurgency is a movement against the authorities with
specific aim. Its motive is to challenge the government regarding control of certain parts of its
territory and for that they require some support of the population, on the contrary, a terror group
does not require active support of the population. It just works for... Show more content on

It is a creative force, not an antagonistic one in some scenarios. If their approach is to improve the
spaces that belong to all of us, then that is the positive aspect of such movements. Taking a very
small example like installing temporary seating at bus stops, for people who are fed up of waiting
for bus, after their jobs and stay standing. When the authorities take no step to accommodate them,
that s when the guerillas come in. I won t naively support such acts as profound, or say that they
have the strength to solve the deep rooted problems in our cities, but the spirit of the guerilla
urbanists to fix small issues in appreciable ways should be appreciated. These are the acts that lay
the foundation of a reformatory movement, for the betterment of locales. They change the direction
of our vision towards the city. Guerrilla urbanists are not given the reform projects by the
government like turning roads into sidewalks and setting up shop in vacant buildings, which is
illegal in most cities. Gradually though, some governments have approved these projects after
witnessing the positive public reception they gain. Others have gone further and initiated such
projects themselves, one of the most famous examples is pedestrianizing Times Square in New York

Transcendentalism In La Ley Innata
In La ley Innata, or the Inborn Law by the Spanish rock band, Extremoduro, vocalist Roberto
Iniesta takes us on a journey of chaos, the external and internal aspects of ourselves, and
ultimately forms a poetic and musical masterpiece. Many of the songs on the album are difficult
to interpret, which, as a whole, ends up becoming a series of beautiful words that no one
understands. However, because of its mysterious nature, we look at it from all sorts of angles in an
attempt to decode as if it were some sort of puzzle. In one of the songs, Iniesta says he is looking
for [his] destiny, living a deferred life, without being, without hearing, without giving. I personally
think that these lines not only resonate with Thoreau s transcendentalism, and that humans thrive
from within, but also helps us look deep into what it means to be human and the kind of struggles
that we face because we often find ourselves clinging to our physicality, rather than our spirituality.
Furthermore, the fact that Iniesta is looking for a destiny even though he is living life without
being explains that it is his non physical aspect that is doing the work, not his actual physical body.
That being said, Mary Oliver, in Humpbacks helps us determine how and why our non physical
self gives us more answers to the bigger questions we encounter on a day to day basis and why our
physicality gets in the way.
As he looks down on society s structure, Thoreau mentions that the things which corrupt humans

A Lululemon ambassador is described as someone who embodies the lululemon lifestyle and lives

they may request (Ritchie).
Since the craze of Lululemon had taken off many rival companies such as gap, nike, Nordstorm

He was the sixth child of a Lutheran Minister, but lost his mother before his first birthday. As a young boy, he played and explored in the gardens surrounding his home most of the time. His deep love of nature would later influence his educational philosophy. He did not become educated until age eleven. When he was fifteen years old, he was apprenticed to a Forester. He then studied at the University of Jena. He accepted a teaching position at the Frankfurt Model School in Yverdon, Switzerland. He also believed children were brought closer to God through song, dance, plays, and games. Froebel called his approach to education self activity and self representation ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000; Ransbury, 1995). Therefore the teacher s role is as a guide, not a lecturer ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000). He was also the first to introduce the concept of curricula appropriate to a child s developmental level (Woodill,1995). Froebel designed Kindergarten to children s needs in physical activity, the development of sensory awareness and physical dexterity, creative expression, exploration of ideas and concepts, the pleasure of singing, the experience of living among others, and satisfaction of the soul ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000). Until his death in 1852, he was devoted to making Kindergarten known. The German immigrants brought the idea of Kindergarten to the United States in the nineteenth century. • 7. The World War I Ended In late June 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated. A rise of threats and mobilization orders followed the event, leading to the outbreak of World War I, which pitted Germany, Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Empire (the so called Central Powers) against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy and Japan (the Allied Powers). The Allies were joined after 1917 by the United States. The four years of the Great War as it was then known saw unprecedented levels of carnage and destruction, thanks to grueling trench warfareand the introduction of modern weaponry such as machine guns, tanks and chemical weapons. By the time World War I ended in the defeat of the Central Powers in November 1918, more than 9 million soldiers had been killed and 21 million more wounded. New weapons revolutionized combat in World War One. Combat morphed from a rapid, noble and relatively ephemeral thing to a new model: trench warfare. There were many wars before the Great War, or World War 1. The Revolutionary war and The Civil War were the two major wars before the occurrence of World War 1. Both of these wars produced many casualties. During The Civil, at least 618,000 Americans died. Today, The Civil War still has the greatest number of American casualties than any other war. Another major war prior to the First World War was the American Revolution. During this time there was approximately 50,000 dead or wounded American soldiers. • 9. J.D. Salinger s A Perfect Day for Ortgies Essay J.D. Salinger s A Perfect Day for Bananafish At first glance, J.D. Salinger s short story A Perfect Day for Bananafish is the story of a psychically torn war veteran whose post traumatic stress moves him to take his own life while on a second honeymoon with his wife. Indeed, that is the story, but that first glance does not reveal the inner motives and symbolic pathways Seymour Glass takes to reach the final decision to end his life. The carefully placed details and minute innuendoes are deliberate on Salinger s part, and they represent pieces of the puzzle to find out what is really happening in the protagonist s head. Indeed, A Perfect Day is just one part of the Glass family saga, and Seymour s character and family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, if instead of ?See More? Glass we define him as ?See More Glass? then I have a slightly more cryptic interpretation for his name. Now, the Glass family is Jewish, as is established in Salinger?s Nine Stories, and Seymour is a veteran of World War II. Before America?s involvement in the war, on November 9th, 1938, there was a very violent uprising of Reich citizens against the Jewish population orchestrated by Joseph Goebbels. During that time thousands Jewish citizens were rounded up for concentration camps and their businesses were destroyed, littering the streets with glass from their storefronts. That night came to be known as the Kristallnacht, or in English, the ?Night of Broken Glass.? Though I know there is no direct link to this night in the story, and indeed it took place before Seymour was even in Europe, it has a direct link to the first major violence against Jews as well as a sharp spike in the number of Jewish adults who committed suicide to escape the horrors of the Reich. The perhaps far fetched, I feel this more esoteric interpretation of Seymour?s name could well represent the link to the horrors he experienced during his tenure in World War II. A name is a metaphysical representation of a person, but there are physical hints in Seymour?s characterization that hint towards a greater purpose in his actions. This examines the hazards, the production, and a potential solution to the looming problem of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. COв‚‚, or carbon dioxide, is a greenhouse gas that plays a significant role in global warming. Power generation (see Figures 1 and 2) and manufacturing industries contribute to the production of carbon dioxide. Finally an effective climate change plan should integrate emission cuts and CCS. Releasing CO2 in the atmosphere is harmful to the environment in several ways. The combustion of fossil fuels releases new COв‚‚ in the atmosphere. Fossil fuels are made of hydrocarbons. When burned, these substances change form and enter the atmosphere as carbon based gases . The EPA concludes that 90% of carbon gases released into the atmosphere are from the combustion of fossil fuels. So, industrial combustion is the primary culprit of such COв‚‚ production (West, 2009). Consequentially, such carbon based gases pollute the air near the earth s surface , create smog, and increase the amounts of atmospheric greenhouse gases which contribute to global warming as diagrammed in Figure 1 (West, 2009). I took a new approach with this project, where I thought about what type of room I was making the shade for, as a person will have different lighting needs for each room, and shades should vary based on that purpose. Many of the designs I saw were similar in their shape, but it was the decoration that varied. I took a bedroom light shade as my challenge, where I wanted to make a shade that could create a soft light, where the light would not shine directly down, but rather flow to the ceiling and around. The shape itself was quite simple; a truncated cone which would hang from the ceiling, with a smaller cone placed inside. The idea was that the majority of the light would reflect back towards the ceiling, where it could fill the room, while a small amount would come through the small gap between the cones. With this project, I made a similar task for myself, to make a Christmas themed lantern. This was to explore the possible functions of lighting and lamp shades, as well as how form follows function, so while my plan was to create a decorative lantern with a Christmas look; it wasn t difficult for the form to create itself. I sketched a winter village on some card with a black pen for the shade, many pin sized holes were made in specific locations to highlight the drawing, and it was then made to a cylinder where I made a cap to block the light. • 39. The Jericho Tower One of the greatest mysteries of the Neolithic period in Ancient Israel is the Jericho Tower. At a time first attempting permanent village settlements, building a monumental tower was not done on a whim. The tower represents the first monumental building structure in the Levant, but what was it built for? This question has been on the minds of archaeologists for years. The three main theories behind the tower are for defensive purposes, floodprevention, and in clock towerfunction. Neolithic society had just begun forming agricultural communities, but there were still factions of pastoral nomads wandering the hills. The first theory behind the construction of the Jericho Tower was for defensive purposes. The wall, which in one place is supported by the Tower, and the size and shape of the Tower itself point to being a set of defensive structures for the settlement. However, since the Tower is on the inside of the wall, the ability to shoot invaders is greatly prohibited. If this was a tower for defense, it would likely be put on the outside of the wall in order to have better accuracy with oncoming invaders. Another reason the Tower probably was not a defensive structure is the lack of hostile attacks in the region. There are very few signs of other fortified settlements in this region and there has been no... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Quruntul is only one part of the clock tower theory. The next part considers the placement of the Tower with the alignment of the summer solstice. At the time of building the Tower, it is very likely that the sunset on the summer solstice would line up with the Tower and Mt. Quruntul. If so this depicts the shift from pastoral nomads to agricultural villages that is occurring. Telling time is an important feature of farming because it sets the time for the planting season. Thus, if the Tower was built to signal when the summer season began, it indicates that Jericho was moving into a more permanent agriculturally focused ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Political Parties, over time, have seemed to do more harm than good for our nation. The founders of America never even intended for this nation to be separated into two different Political Parties. There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution. John Adams, The Works Of John Adams, Second President Of The United States. In the story The Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri, many topics, including that of appearance, are generated. On the topic of appearance, everyone, including those around you, puts on a figurative mask to cover or hide their true emotions. Characters in this story use objects, ranging from cameras to a rear view mirror, to hide their feelingsfrom those around them. The central theme of this story is that things aren t always as they appear and this theme is developed using characterization and the motif of sight. The first character to begin hiding their emotions using an object was Mr. Das, who used a camera to hide the fact that he wants his family to seem happy. For instance, near the end of the story, when the family stops near a cave to take a picture, Mr. and Mrs. Das argue when Mrs. Das doesn t want to get out of the van with the family. Mr. Das says But we could use one of these pictures for our Christmas card this year. We didn t get one of all five of us at the Sun Temple. Mr. Kapasi could take it. (Lahiri, pg 24) In this piece of evidence, Mr. Das wants to take a picture as a family so it can be used as a Christmas card. This family picture was supposed to cover the fact that Mrs. Das was complaining about being in, to make them all seem happy, despite the fact that they may be feeling something else. This is important to the theme, as it shows that the family may seem happy, however, nothing is always as it seems. In addition, closer to the end of the story, when Mrs. Das decides to be in the picture near the cave, Mrs. Das s child, Bobby goes missing. When Mrs. Das is approaching, Mr. Das says, Just in time. We ll get Mr. Kapasi to take the picture of the five of us. ... I don t know. Ronny, where s Bobby? (Lahiri, pg 28) In this piece of evidence, the family gets ready to take the picture, when they realize, they don t know where Bobby is. Transcendentalism In La Ley Innata In La ley Innata, or the Inborn Law by the Spanish rock band, Extremoduro, vocalist Roberto Iniesta takes us on a journey of chaos, the external and internal aspects of ourselves, and ultimately forms a poetic and musical masterpiece. Many of the songs on the album are difficult to interpret, which, as a whole, ends up becoming a series of beautiful words that no one understands. However, because of its mysterious nature, we look at it from all sorts of angles in an attempt to decode as if it were some sort of puzzle. In one of the songs, Iniesta says he is looking for [his] destiny, living a deferred life, without being, without hearing, without giving. I personally think that these lines not only resonate with Thoreau s transcendentalism, and that humans thrive from within, but also helps us look deep into what it means to be human and the kind of struggles that we face because we often find ourselves clinging to our physicality, rather than our spirituality. Furthermore, the fact that Iniesta is looking for a destiny even though he is living life without being explains that it is his non physical aspect that is doing the work, not his actual physical body. That being said, Mary Oliver, in Humpbacks helps us determine how and why our non physical self gives us more answers to the bigger questions we encounter on a day to day basis and why our physicality gets in the way.
