The Positive Effects Of Music And Music Education
Music has the power of producing a certain effect on the moral character of the soul, and if it has the
power to do this, it is clear that the young must be directed and must be educated in it, Aristotle said
(NAfME). When students learn music at a younger age their general well being is impacted in a
positive way. Musical training encourages young students to tap into their imagination and create art.
Music connects pieces of life s tasks together. As prospering musicians, students are vulnerable to
emotional changes, sparks of creativity, and an increased sense of belonging. Music has made a great
impact on the lives of many students from all over the world. Teaching various types of music and
musical improvisation to students positively impacts their well being by improving learning skills,
promoting self respect, inspiring creativity, and establishing musicianship. Music is known as a very
important scholarly subject. Music was considered so educational that the Ancient Greeks used it to
study and teach mathematics and philosophy (Online Master of Music Education). After the United
States realized the importance of teaching music education the U.S Department of Education declared
music as a core subject in curriculums. In 1717 the first music school in America opened in Boston,
Massachusetts. The school helped improve children s singing for religious reasons in a straightforward
teaching style. This teaching style included music tablature and textbooks. Singing

The Impact of Divorce on Children Essay
In the United States today, we live in a society that has perhaps one of the highest rates of divorce
amongst all other industrial nations at a rate averaging around 40 to 50 percent. Of that staggering rate
of divorce, 60 percent of those involve children. Because of this, more than one million children go
through their parents divorce each year. Now, during this time of divorce a great focus seems to be
drawn between the adults, but at what point should we wonder about the children? What changes and
potential consequences are thrust upon the child forced to go through what might be considered an
extremely demanding ordeal such as his/her parents divorce. I will tackle this topic with the assistance
of various resources that have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trauma and distress of children going through divorce is often produced from overwhelming
senses of vulnerability as the family seemingly collapses, grief at the loss of what felt like an intact
family as well as at the loss of the non custodial parent, and even a strong sense of powerlessness to
being unable to prevent the divorce from happening.
The simple act of divorce alone can be a very stressful event for any child. As such, the looming
realization that things will be different, yet not knowing how, often plays to the fears of the child.
Divorce for a child can often lead to reduced contact with the non custodial parent (often the father),
lower standards of living, moving from one home to another, changing schools, having more
responsibility thrust upon them, or even the potential for the custodial parent to be less
psychologically or physically available for the child when they need them. All of these are
environmental forces that can lead to an overwhelming amount of stress for any child, leaving them in
a negative position and making it harder for them to cope and adjust to the divorce. Often times
children can t mentally cope with the divorce, either. With children being as egocentric as they are, it
is impossible for a child to look at the conflict between their parents indifferently. Many children are
stuck with a sense that they are the reason for their

Gracile Features
Introduction
The more gracile features that denote a female typically include the smaller size or often nonexistence
of certain features found on the skeleton including but not limited to the nuchal crest, mastoid process,
and brow ridges. Also, the average height of a female is shorter than that of the average male. Due to
this difference in skeletal structure, most of the bones in the female skeleton should in some form be
sexually dimorphic. The trend of smaller features is of course excluding the pelvic girdle, on which
most female features are larger and rounder due to the skeletal requirements of childbirth. Given the
above statement, it is reasonable to predict that there would be a distinguishable difference between
the metacarpal of a male and a female. Studies have proved that metacarpals are sexually dimorphic,
and can be used to identify the sex of a skeleton in both Egyptian and Tai populations. Due to these
past studies, it is logical to assume that the same sexually dimorphism can be found in the European
population. If successful this study could develop an algorism to help determine the sex from just a
single bone. This advancement in our knowledge of sex identification could propel cases, in which the
sex of the induvial was undeterminable from the bones recovered.

The Effect Of Biofuels On The Environment Essay
Introduction Yeast fermentation is a process that produces carbon dioxide and ethanol from the
mixture of yeast, sugar, and water. It is a process of anaerobic respiration since yeast does not need
oxygen to create energy. It is a widely used experiment performed to measure the amount of carbon
dioxide produced from different yeast and sugar mixtures (Grammer, 2012). Biofuels are fuels that are
heated to a specific temperature to create energy. For example, if you heat up oxygen, the product will
be energy, carbon dioxide, and water. Biofuels are important because they will be used in place of
fossil fuels to cause less pollution to the environment (Kim K, Choi I, Kim H, Wi S, Bae H, 2014).
The use of biofuels will increase over the next few years because they are much safer than fossil fuels
(Kim K, Choi I, Kim H, Wi S, Bae H, 2014). There are various ways that this experiment can be
performed. In one study, the use of inverted pipettes, test tubes, capillary tubes, and graduated
cylinders were used to make the process quicker and simpler (Grammer, 2012). The scientists decided
to perform this experiment this way to focus more time on more important issues. Because the
procedure was shorter, it allowed for more replications to be completed. Also, it gave more accuracy
and precision because of the various instruments used (Grammer, 2012). The experiment performed in
lab was also a simple procedure and allowed for six different replicates, one from each lab table.

In December 2004, it was decided that direct advances to priority sector will be encouraged, thus
beginning a phased withdrawal of eligibility in special bonds of specified institutions.
1.3
In paragraph 90 of the Annual Policy, ibid, it was stated that one view is that lending to
any infrastructure project should be made eligible for priority sector lending while making subtargets
fungible within the overall target. There is another view that enlargement of areas has resulted in loss
of focus. It is also held that credit growth in housing, venture capital and infrastructure has been strong
while it has been sluggish in agriculture and small industries. Further, it is argued that only sectors that
impact large population, weaker sections and are employment intensive such as agriculture, tiny and
small industry should be eligible for priority sector. Since there are several issues that need to be
considered in this regard, it is appropriate that these are debated and examined in depth .
1.4
In order to examine the issues raised in the Annual Policy, it was decided that an Internal
Working Group be set up for the purpose.
a) to examine the need for continuance of priority sector lending prescriptions; b) to review the
existing policy on priority sector lending including the segments constituting the priority sector,
targets and sub targets, etc.; c) to examine the suggestions received regarding

Support The Frightfully Hopeful Future of Technological Singularity Imagine. One day your Doctor
regretfully informs you the person you love the most in your life is tragically going pass away due to
an incurable disease. Instantly, overwhelming feelings of despair and anger burn inside your chest
while graphic scenes of funeral details and goodbyes flood your mind eventually propelling you to the
rhetorical question everyone asks, Is there anything we can do? Then, The Doctor hands you a
pamphlet saying, Have you ever heard of nanotechnology? This Doctor is no Mad Scientist ; in fact,
he is a highly trained professional that has saved several lives with his proposition. What would you
say? This small scale scenario is the perplexing situation the human race will have to face in the near
future. Although some would consider the merger of technology and human biology a completely
crack pot idea, It is this hasty decision of judgment that explains our reaction to fear. This fear
resonates with most of the population globally since it is this very generation that has witnessed the
exponential growth of technology. Physically, psychologically and spiritually, technological
singularity threatens our future and shakes the foundation of morality. However, does this change
bring about negative or positive ramifications? With Technological Singularity s future being so
unpredictable, it would not be wise to ignore its possibilities especially since it was the human race,

Mountain Man Light Case Summary
DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTANCY
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mr. Chris Prangel
FROM: Merik Ducker Section AE1 Group 8
DATE: September 22, 2015
SUBJECT: Product Launch: Mountain Man Light
INTRODUCTION
The memorandum will analyze the proposed new product launch of Mountain Man Light (MMLight)
for Mr. Chris Prangel, the future owner of the Mountain Man Beer Company (MMBC). More
specifically, the memorandum will consider the advantages and disadvantages of launching MMLight,
as well as a cost volume profit analysis of the proposed new product launch. The memorandum will
conclude with recommendations for Mr. Prangel s consideration.

West ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, MMBC should deploy grass roots marketing like social media for the launch of MMLight to
avoid costly broadcast marketing and to appeal to the anti corporate attitudes of the younger
demographic revealed in the marketing focus group.
On Premise Location and New Customers To further decrease the likelihood of cannibalization and to
diversify its location offerings and customer base, the memorandum recommends that MMBC launch
MMLight into on premise locations (such as bars and restaurants). Industry observers remark that the
crucial consumer segment for beer companies are younger drinkers ages 21 27 years who are not yet
loyal to a brand of beer. Women and younger drinkers typically prefer light beer. These groups
frequently visit on premise locations and represent an exciting market for MMBC. For questions or
concerns, please feel free to e mail mducker2@illinois.edu or call 217.381.9578.

Fluoride Ions And Its Effect On Health And Excess...
Introduction
Fluoride is one of the important heavy metal present in water and waste water. Fluoride ions in water
exhibits unique properties, as itsoptimum dosein drinking water is advantageous to health and excess
concentration beyond the prescribed limits affects health(5). Also Fluoride ions are extremely toxic to
human body. A fluoride ion is attracted by positively charged calcium in Teeth and Bones, due to its
strong electronegativity. Major health problems caused by fluoride are dental fluorosis, teeth mottling,
skeletal fluorosis, and deformation of bones occur in children as well as adults (5). The waste water

Essay on the Growth of Katherina in Taming of the Shrew
The Growth of Katherina in Taming of the Shrew
Although Katherina s final speech in The Taming of the Shrew may sound subservient on the surface,
it actually reflects her growth and development into a stronger and more complex character. Without
losing the forcefulness that she displayed earlier in the play, the delivery of her final speech exhibits
the cleverness and deceptiveness that she has learned from Petruchio throughout the taming process.
At the beginning of the play, Katherina is seen as the forceful sister and Bianca as the clever one.
Katherina is described by Grumio as the fiend of hell (I.i.88) and by Tranio as curst and shrewd
(I.i.180). In contrast, Lucentio sees in Bianca s silence mild behavior and ... Show more content on

After he wins Bianca s love with his cleverness, he assumes that she will remain silent and obedient
when she becomes his wife. He doesn t realize that Bianca is also very clever and that her earlier mild
behavior has been a pose. Lucentio is so sure of Bianca s subservience that he wagers a hundred
crowns with Petruchio that Bianca will come when he sends for her. However, the cleverness he used
to win Bianca s love did not ensure her obedience as his wife and he loses the wager.
Petruchio like Katherina is very strong and forceful. However, his forcefulness is viewed as a positive
masculine attribute, whereas Katherina s forcefulness is seen as a negative, shrewish trait. But
Petruchio is not only forceful; he like Bianca and Lucentio is also quite clever. He seems to relish the
challenge of taming Katherina, both for the sport of it as well as the monetary rewards that she will
bring to their marriage. In order to tame Katherina, Petruchio freely uses both force and cleverness. At
their first meeting, he cleverly sings her praises: Hearing thy mildness prais d in every town,/Thy
virtues spoke of, and thy beauty sounded,/Yet not so deeply as to thee belongs (II.i.191 93). While he
proceeds with witty praise, Katherina responds with insults and at one point strikes Petruchio
(II.i.219). Petruchio is unfazed and warns Katherina that he will

Descriptive Essay About Trail Riding
Do you ever have a dream where you re falling, and it feels so real that your body wakes you up? Well
this was not a dream. I was falling, and there was no bed for me to wake up in.
Growing up I was always around horses. My mom got into horses as a teenager, and they never left
her heart. The minute I was born I was put up in the saddle. Where most families would bond by going
swimming, hiking, or to watch a movie, my family bonded by going horseback riding. (Or as we call
it, trail riding.) The first horse I remember riding was a beautiful mare (girl horse) named Angel. She
was a sweet old white quarter horse who took care of everyone who rode her. I went on many trail
rides with her and when she passed away I learned at the early age of six that people s deaths aren t
the only deaths we morn. Eventually I moved on and started riding a new horse whose name was
Tanka.
Tanka was a stubborn and sassy sorrel mare. I really didn t ride her on my own because she probably
would ve taken advantage of me being a beginner. Since I couldn t ride her on my own my sister Lisa
usually rode along on Tanka while I sat behind the saddle, holding on to the edge of it for dear life.
One cloudy mid September day my mom decided we should go on a trail ride. Since we didn t have
enough horses for everyone who wanted to come on the ride, my mom came up with a plan.
She planned that me, Lisa, and my mom s friend Lori should ride down the road to meet my mom and
her other friends at their house

Indonesi The Largest Economy Of South East Asia
Indonesia is the largest economy in South East Asia; it has progressed into a decentralized electoral
democracy and has managed to reduce its overall poverty from 17 percent in 2004 to 11 percent in
2014. However, despite their steady economy and major improvements, nearly 40 percent of
Indonesia lives just above the poverty line. Additionally, Indonesian public services and health
standards fall behind other middle income countries; these facts combined with their high rates of
maternal mortality, child malnutrition, and insufficient access to education place Indonesia in the
developing or Third World realm. Indonesia s history, geographic position, abundance of natural
resources, wars and conquest, as well as trade has fundamentally shaped the economic and political
structure. Furthermore, leadership influence, intervening forces, and its colonial masters have also
played a large role in constructing the systems of this developing country. The colonial period has
greatly formed Indonesia into the country it is today; however, this period did not start immediately as
outsiders entered. The Dutch first arrived in the country during the end of the 16th century, but it took
a slow process of political expansion and centuries later before they would reach the territorial
boundaries of present day Indonesia. During the 18th century the United East India Company
established itself as a major political and economical power on the island of Java. This Dutch trading

Mary Shelley s Use Of The Weather In Frankenstein
Mary Shelley s use of the elements in Frankenstein aid in developing different moods experienced
throughout the novel. Habitually describing details of the existing weather, she is able to relate it to
the emotions of her characters. Whether the conditions are malevolent or delightful, she never fails to
help the reader recognize the indication of an emotion or incident that will soon occur in the story.
Rain is the foremost component of spring, the season of hope, renewal, and (emotional) awakening.
When the creature notices the amiable warmth and light showers that satisfy the earth, it is almost as if
his feelings go through photosynthesis; they are boosted instantaneously. Similar to a rebirth, Shelley
uses the fresh spring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that meteorological conditions are able to affect a character s thoughts and alter their
feelings. As has been noted, Shelley accentuates the description of spring to express the hope and
renewal bestowed upon the creature by the exemplifications of the weather. It is common throughout
the novel that the existing weather reflects, and sharply influences, Victor s mood(s). For example, the
atmosphere surrounding the hut is cold and harsh when the creature concludes his tale and asks Victor
to construct his companion. This creates meaning in the text because much like these inhospitable
conditions, Victor s heart is cold blooded and calloused when it comes to the creature. Shelley s reason
behind the freezing cold temperature is not only to foreshadow Victor s response, but to demonstrate
the absence of color (warmth) and human sentimentality. In similar fashion, the pleasant weather in
the valley of Chamounix is able to alleviate some of the guilt ridden weight placed upon Victor s
shoulders from the outcome of Justine s trial. With clear skies as their background, the pinnacles of the
mountains and graceful flow of the waterfalls are effective in establishing a sense of fearlessness
within Victor; the power of the topography

Tracheal Replacement Report
The background of this report is based on the controversy surrounding thoracic surgeon, Paolo
Macchiarini. Macchiarini grew a reputation as a star surgeon for his work involving ground breaking
trachea transplants. He was viewed as a forerunner in the field of regenerative medicine using both
synthetic and biological scaffolds as trachea transplants. The transplants were seeded with the patients
own stem cells taken from bone marrow and placed in a machine where it rotated in a solution
designed to encourage cell growth. The impression was that the cells would divide and turn into
tracheal cells. These plastic trachea transplants proved deadly for his patients. Of the seven patients

Methods include the use foreign materials, nonviable tissue, autogenous tissue, tissue engineering, and

The indications for tracheal replacement are lesions a region in an organ or tissue which has suffered
damage through injury or disease that can t be resected and reconstructed safely with end to end
anastomosis or long segment congenital stenosis, which cannot be effectively managed with slide or
patch tracheoplasty , (Haykal et al., 2014). Acquired lesions include malignancy, traumatic injury, and
subglottic or tracheal stenosis. The general limits for safe resection are about one half of the tracheal
length in adults and one third in small children. Very lengthy lesions that cannot be safely removed
and reconstructed primarily are managed palliatively with long term T tubes or stents. The clinical
course of these patients is usually complicated with multiple infections and frequent hospital
admissions. Therefore, a safe and dependable tracheal replacement remains an important unmet

Maor Mashiach Interview Write Up #1 Mrs. Trombetta BQ: What is sleepwalking? Language Arts 8
1/26/15 Introduction Gary Zammit Doctor 12 years in the Sleep Disorder Institute (SDI) in NYC. 5:30
6:00 January 28, 2015. Telephone interview Gary is a CEO and leading expert in sleep disorders. 1)
Are there any new technologies that can prevent or treat sleepwalking? I am not aware of any new
technologies that are available to prevent or treat sleepwalking. There are some different forms of
sleepwalking. Sleepwalking occurs in very deep sleep early in the night, and some of it is
disorganized. There are other forms of sleepwalking that are more organized and have a purpose. For
example, sleep eating is a disorder when people get out of bed and consume food during their sleep.
But for all of those various forms of sleepwalking, we do not have any new or novel technologies that
prevent or treat sleepwalking? 2) Is there a treatment for this disorder? Well sleepwalking is more
common in kids and as children age and get into their teen years and adulthood, it is more common
that sleepwalking goes away by itself. So it s kind of self limiting for most people but not everyone.
For kids and adults who sleepwalk the best thing to do is to gently guide the sleepwalker back into bed
and that is what takes care of it. Very often, they will stay asleep in bed and that is what takes care of
it. So you don t want to startle a sleepwalker and you don t want to shake

Love And Love In The Book Of Love Possessed By Gabriel...
In the book Of Love and Other Demons written by Gabriel Marquez, Main Character Sierva Maria is
a young child whose existence had been neglected from birth by her father, The second Marquis of
Casalduero, and her mother, a once powerful Merchant. She lives her life, peacefully, among the
slaves in their quarters until she is one day bitten by a rabid dog. Once the news had spread of the bite,
the question of not only life and death, but demonic possession and love come into play. The article,
By Love Possessed written by A.S Byatt, closely analyzes the life Sierva suffered after the bite and if
the demons in the title of the work are really the ones the Church believes is possessing her. Love is
subliminally introduced throughout the piece and the only demon named in the title. Knowing that
love is the worst demon of all, the other demons mentioned in the work never resided in Sierva, but in
the sins of man. When Sierva was bitten, the only people who knew about it were the slaves. After a
few rituals, the bite slowly began to heal and she showed no signs of contracting the deadly disease of
rabies. Once her father, the Marquis, made the discovery of what had occurred, he made Sierva live
within the house instead of the slave quarters. Not suited to the environment, Sierva never spoke and
rarely showed any form of emotion. The Marquis did everything he could to figure out how to save
her, not only from possibly contracting rabies, but from what was making her act

society falls short of the intended message; however, the pollution factor has to be taken into
consideration before buying such a fast and easy acting product. Sure, for some, that message would
never be brought to light making the decision to buy Bounty, a no brainer. But for some, that might be
the deciding factor in whether or not they purchase it. Bounty paper towels have been commonly
known to pick up messes. However, when the hyperboles and enlarged items are shown in this way, it
makes it seem like the brand is now bigger and better than ever. Designed with children and parents in
mind, the author uses logical appeals of big messes to appeal to the intended audience. He does this in
a way that sets the audience up for an ultimatum. You choices are to either buy the paper towels or
have a 14 foot Popsicle on the floor in your kitchen. The answer is obvious here. By alluring the
audience through definitive logic, the author implies that without Bounty , you will have messes
galore. The display of two oversized items defends his implication. Bounty does an

This reaction is typical for many of the project managers with whom we interacted. They don t find

may, of course, not always be the case: sometimes the Gantt chart is indeed the bible by which the
project is managed. The problem faced by project managers is recognizing which approach is
appropriate for the particular project at hand. Should they strictly enforce the discipline inherent in
critical path thinking or should they adopt a more contingent style of management, utilizing a set of
tools and techniques better suited to the particular characteristics of the project?
There are few guides to inform the project manager in this important decision. Managers are left to

Pleasantville And A Clockwork Orange Essay
Pleasantville and A Clockwork orange are both films that have certain things that are abnormal.
Pertaining to Pleasantville it begins in black and white and end to be in color because of being
exposed of certain things. In a Clockwork Orange that is exposed with violence robbery is highly
unusual because it is not something morally right to do. While analyzing both of these movies they
both have certain distortions that can be covered that make their own individually, out of ordinary, a
tad shocking and unsatisfactory, and more to meet the eye. In Pleasantville, disorder starts to happen
slowly as the movie proceeds. While David and Jennifer fight over the remote, there seems to be some
strange guy at the door. This TV guy suddenly gives them a remote and they are magically in the
world of Pleasantville. Pleasantville is a world that would be described as happy, and perfect, with
perfect parents, school, a perfect town, and also with perfect children. The symbolism here is that
everything is in black and white for a reason. The people of Pleasantville are very unaware of
everything else, all they know is about Pleasantville, there are no books, and not even sex, and even
the main streets have no limits. Even Mary Sue, who is Jennifer, asked her teacher Miss Peters, What s
outside of Pleasantville? (Pleasantville Imbd) and Miss Peters response was The end of main street is
just the beginning again). It seems that Pleasantville only exists to the people of the town.

Performing Global Geographies Reading Response
Performing Global Geographies: Reading response
Through an analysis of the narratives of round the world travelers, the authors explore how travelers
weave together time, space, place and pace in a global journey around the world. Using examples
from the article explain how the itinerary plays a role in helping the travelers negotiate the tension
between time, space, and pace while at the same time reflecting certain cultural and social
assumptions about place.
The itinerary gives structure to the assumptions, anxieties and desires that travellers bring to a round
the world trip. Through the itinerary, travellers co ordinate the destinations they want to visit alongside
dozens of contingencies that factor into a round the world trip purchasing tickets, applying for visas,
allocating budgets, scheduling vaccinations, deciding what to pack and so on.
Itineraries emerge out of travellers negotiation of an assumed tension between space and time in their
performance of a global journey. In particular, these travellers worry about allocating their limited
time to enough destinations and to the right kinds of destinations to qualify as a round the world trip.

Throughout the novel i began to wonder if anyone of the events portrayed by Clancy had any
historical or real world evidence of occuring, such as mass USSR defection by disgruntled citizens
and military figures, the act of scuttling or purposely sinking your own naval vesel, and the United
States stance on allowing in fugitives from foreign countries. In The Hunt for Red October, it is
questionable as to whether or not the United States would be so openly willing as to send out enitre

numerous accounts of defectors coming to the United States during and after WWII. As we as students

questionable to wonder about our nation s stance on accepting them. People in the novel such as Jack

returned from the mall with her friends. They are waiting for their mother and father to come home
from work, as they do every day. This is one common family structure in the America society, but
other societies, such as the Caribbean, also have family structure. How are the infrastructures in the
Caribbean society different and similar to American society familial infrastructures? How are these
family structures preparing their children for a future within their respective societies? The main
people preparing these children are the parents.
In Caribbean societies, Men are valued more than females and are seen as the primary disciplinarians
and decision makers ( Family Structure ). The men are the unilateral money makers for their families.
They also have little to no relationship with their children, if they do, it is with the son. In America,
the fathers usually work but, sometimes, they are stay at home dads and care for the house and the
children. For example, in my family, my father worked during the time my sister was alive but, when I
was born, he quit work and became a stay at home dad. The fathers in Caribbean and American
societies have one main difference, Caribbean dads always work and never have a relationship with
their children while American fathers tend to have a better relationship with their children. However,

Religious Freedom
Should the government decide which religions have freedom to worship? The balancing act of
individual rights and religious liberty has been a contentious affair throughout American history. Some
people believe states must accommodate to all religions, including the rights of business owners to
refuse service based on their values. There are beliefs the government should have no influence on
religions. On the other hand, some believe government should balance religion with individual rights.
Governments should not be based on religion ,but states should work to protect all religions and give
them equal advantages to succeed.
People should be able to practice what their religion preaches. If the government tells them the have to
go against their values they are further decreasing their freedom to practice what they want. The
government of the United States was created to protect the God given rights of the people, from our

Once Emma becomes fed up and realizes that he is a sad creature
(Flaubert 78), she begins her little quest to find the right man through a binge
of affairs and broken hearts.
The author of Madame Bovary, Gustave Flaubert, was born in Rouen France
(Kunitz 280). He grew up in a rather wealthy and prosperous family as a result
of his father being a successful doctor (Kunitz 280). This could easily relate
to the fact that Charles Bovary was a doctor too.
During Flaubert s younger years, he was alone most of the time. He
didn t have any friends and normally spent his days in solitude. This gave him
time to focus on his literature (Flaubert i). Since Flaubert s academics and
knowledge of literature were released at such an early age, it is explainable to
see how his profound talent was released (Flaubert i). He began to write plays
at around the age of ten. These were in depth, romantic plays that adults would
learn to appreciate (Kunitz 280). At that time Flaubert focused his attention
on the study of History and the writings of numerous romantics as well (Kunitz

Flaubert was later sent to an intermediate school in Paris to further
strengthen his academic standings (Kunitz 280). Upon completion of that, he

Thomas Hardy Neutral Tones Essay
Neutral Tones by Thomas Hardy conveys the deceiving nature of love through metaphor, the symbolic
environment in which the poem takes place, oxymoron and poetic sound devices. Among Hardy s
pessimistic poems, Neutral Tones is one of the most acclaimed. At the heart of the sixteen line poem
with an ABBA rhyme scheme, he encounters the demise of a once loving relationship. The former
promising love that he shared with his partner has dissolved into bitterness and its effects leave him
devastated and hopeless. Although the title hints that the author is trying to take a neutral stance on the
situation, his word choice and use of figurative language does not indicate it. The only neutrality
present in the poem is the description of the cold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(9 12). The smile on your mouth was the deadest thing is a shocking statement to make on the smile of
a formerly beloved person because it doesn t maintain neutrality like the author tries to keep (9). The
cold gesture of a grin of bitterness shows how the bond and connection that they once shared has
disappeared (11). Her presence is also causing him great suffering and is deemed a bad omen like an
ominous bird (12). Hardy implies that the people that we end up loving the most are the ones that
bring us the most pain. The final quatrain highlights a depressing state of mind through assonance and
alliteration. Words like keen , deceives , me , tree , and leaves exhibit the assonance of the ee sound.
Although Hardy tries to keep a neutral opinion of his experience of love, beneath the surface, the
reader is aware of the inner emotional turmoil that the author has experienced. By the end his ex
lovers face and winter are now a constant reminder of how deceiving love can be. The reader is left
with the knowledge that all love that ends usually leaves behind a depressing state of mind and

Although these disasters tend to be mild due to the cold water that surrounds Canada, some hurricanes
on the eastern side of Canada can strike with high speeds because the warm Gulf Stream extends close
to Atlantic Canada. The strongest hurricane to pass through Canadian land was the 1927 Nova Scotia
Hurricane that had winds of 165km/h and was classified as a category 2 hurricane however hurricane

  • 3. The Positive Effects Of Music And Music Education Music has the power of producing a certain effect on the moral character of the soul, and if it has the power to do this, it is clear that the young must be directed and must be educated in it, Aristotle said (NAfME). When students learn music at a younger age their general well being is impacted in a positive way. Musical training encourages young students to tap into their imagination and create art. Music connects pieces of life s tasks together. As prospering musicians, students are vulnerable to emotional changes, sparks of creativity, and an increased sense of belonging. Music has made a great impact on the lives of many students from all over the world. Teaching various types of music and musical improvisation to students positively impacts their well being by improving learning skills, promoting self respect, inspiring creativity, and establishing musicianship. Music is known as a very important scholarly subject. Music was considered so educational that the Ancient Greeks used it to study and teach mathematics and philosophy (Online Master of Music Education). After the United States realized the importance of teaching music education the U.S Department of Education declared music as a core subject in curriculums. In 1717 the first music school in America opened in Boston, Massachusetts. The school helped improve children s singing for religious reasons in a straightforward teaching style. • 4. The Impact of Divorce on Children Essay In the United States today, we live in a society that has perhaps one of the highest rates of divorce amongst all other industrial nations at a rate averaging around 40 to 50 percent. Of that staggering rate of divorce, 60 percent of those involve children. Because of this, more than one million children go through their parents divorce each year. Now, during this time of divorce a great focus seems to be drawn between the adults, but at what point should we wonder about the children? What changes and potential consequences are thrust upon the child forced to go through what might be considered an extremely demanding ordeal such as his/her parents divorce. I will tackle this topic with the assistance of various resources that have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The trauma and distress of children going through divorce is often produced from overwhelming senses of vulnerability as the family seemingly collapses, grief at the loss of what felt like an intact family as well as at the loss of the non custodial parent, and even a strong sense of powerlessness to being unable to prevent the divorce from happening. The simple act of divorce alone can be a very stressful event for any child. As such, the looming realization that things will be different, yet not knowing how, often plays to the fears of the child. Divorce for a child can often lead to reduced contact with the non custodial parent (often the father), lower standards of living, moving from one home to another, changing schools, having more responsibility thrust upon them, or even the potential for the custodial parent to be less psychologically or physically available for the child when they need them. All of these are environmental forces that can lead to an overwhelming amount of stress for any child, leaving them in a negative position and making it harder for them to cope and adjust to the divorce. Often times children can t mentally cope with the divorce, either. With children being as egocentric as they are, it is impossible for a child to look at the conflict between their parents indifferently. • 5. Gracile Features Introduction The more gracile features that denote a female typically include the smaller size or often nonexistence of certain features found on the skeleton including but not limited to the nuchal crest, mastoid process, and brow ridges. Also, the average height of a female is shorter than that of the average male. Due to this difference in skeletal structure, most of the bones in the female skeleton should in some form be sexually dimorphic. The trend of smaller features is of course excluding the pelvic girdle, on which most female features are larger and rounder due to the skeletal requirements of childbirth. Given the above statement, it is reasonable to predict that there would be a distinguishable difference between the metacarpal of a male and a female. Studies have proved that metacarpals are sexually dimorphic, and can be used to identify the sex of a skeleton in both Egyptian and Tai populations. Due to these past studies, it is logical to assume that the same sexually dimorphism can be found in the European population. If successful this study could develop an algorism to help determine the sex from just a single bone. • 6. The Effect Of Biofuels On The Environment Essay Introduction Yeast fermentation is a process that produces carbon dioxide and ethanol from the mixture of yeast, sugar, and water. It is a process of anaerobic respiration since yeast does not need oxygen to create energy. It is a widely used experiment performed to measure the amount of carbon dioxide produced from different yeast and sugar mixtures (Grammer, 2012). Biofuels are fuels that are heated to a specific temperature to create energy. For example, if you heat up oxygen, the product will be energy, carbon dioxide, and water. Biofuels are important because they will be used in place of fossil fuels to cause less pollution to the environment (Kim K, Choi I, Kim H, Wi S, Bae H, 2014). The use of biofuels will increase over the next few years because they are much safer than fossil fuels (Kim K, Choi I, Kim H, Wi S, Bae H, 2014). There are various ways that this experiment can be performed. In one study, the use of inverted pipettes, test tubes, capillary tubes, and graduated cylinders were used to make the process quicker and simpler (Grammer, 2012). The scientists decided to perform this experiment this way to focus more time on more important issues. Because the procedure was shorter, it allowed for more replications to be completed. Also, it gave more accuracy and precision because of the various instruments used (Grammer, 2012). The experiment performed in lab was also a simple procedure and allowed for six different replicates, one from each lab table. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is another view that enlargement of areas has resulted in loss of focus. It is also held that credit growth in housing, venture capital and infrastructure has been strong while it has been sluggish in agriculture and small industries. Without losing the forcefulness that she displayed earlier in the play, the delivery of her final speech exhibits the cleverness and deceptiveness that she has learned from Petruchio throughout the taming process. At the beginning of the play, Katherina is seen as the forceful sister and Bianca as the clever one. However, the cleverness he used to win Bianca s love did not ensure her obedience as his wife and he loses the wager. Petruchio like Katherina is very strong and forceful. However, his forcefulness is viewed as a positive masculine attribute, whereas Katherina s forcefulness is seen as a negative, shrewish trait. I was falling, and there was no bed for me to wake up in. Growing up I was always around horses. My mom got into horses as a teenager, and they never left her heart. The minute I was born I was put up in the saddle. Where most families would bond by going swimming, hiking, or to watch a movie, my family bonded by going horseback riding. (Or as we call it, trail riding.) The first horse I remember riding was a beautiful mare (girl horse) named Angel. She was a sweet old white quarter horse who took care of everyone who rode her. I went on many trail rides with her and when she passed away I learned at the early age of six that people s deaths aren t the only deaths we morn. Eventually I moved on and started riding a new horse whose name was Tanka. Tanka was a stubborn and sassy sorrel mare. I really didn t ride her on my own because she probably would ve taken advantage of me being a beginner. Since I couldn t ride her on my own my sister Lisa usually rode along on Tanka while I sat behind the saddle, holding on to the edge of it for dear life. Rain is the foremost component of spring, the season of hope, renewal, and (emotional) awakening. For example, the atmosphere surrounding the hut is cold and harsh when the creature concludes his tale and asks Victor to construct his companion. This creates meaning in the text because much like these inhospitable conditions, Victor s heart is cold blooded and calloused when it comes to the creature. Shelley s reason behind the freezing cold temperature is not only to foreshadow Victor s response, but to demonstrate the absence of color (warmth) and human sentimentality. In similar fashion, the pleasant weather in the valley of Chamounix is able to alleviate some of the guilt ridden weight placed upon Victor s shoulders from the outcome of Justine s trial. In the book Of Love and Other Demons written by Gabriel Marquez, Main Character Sierva Maria is a young child whose existence had been neglected from birth by her father, The second Marquis of Casalduero, and her mother, a once powerful Merchant. She lives her life, peacefully, among the slaves in their quarters until she is one day bitten by a rabid dog.
