1. Essay On Journey Of Life
Writing an essay on the journey of life can be a challenging task as it requires delving into the
intricacies of human existence, personal experiences, and the broader philosophical aspects of
life. The subject matter is vast and diverse, covering a spectrum of emotions, challenges,
triumphs, and introspections. Crafting a coherent and engaging narrative that captures the
essence of this complex journey involves a delicate balance between personal reflection and
universal themes.
The difficulty lies in presenting a unique perspective on the journey of life while acknowledging
the shared aspects of the human experience. It demands introspection, self-awareness, and the
ability to articulate thoughts and emotions effectively. Additionally, maintaining a cohesive
structure and flow throughout the essay is crucial to ensure that the reader can follow the
narrative and connect with the underlying message.
Moreover, tackling such a profound and subjective topic requires a thoughtful exploration of
various dimensions, including personal growth, relationships, purpose, and the inevitable
challenges that shape one's path. Striking the right balance between introspection and relatability
can be a formidable task, as the essay needs to resonate with a diverse audience while retaining
its individuality.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the journey of life is a demanding endeavor that requires both
creative expression and intellectual depth. It involves navigating the complexities of the human
experience and conveying a meaningful message that goes beyond the surface. Despite its

2. Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration
Introduction Cells are the basic units of life and their processes are vital to the
functioning of all organism. The reactions of photosynthesis and cellular respiration
are complimentary and are also the most important pathways on the Earth.
Photosynthesis is a process that converts carbon dioxide into organic compounds in
presence of sunlight. Cellular respirationis the set of metabolic reactions that take in
cells of living organisms that convert nutrients like sugar into energy , which is
known as ATP (adenosine triphosphate), and waste products. The two processes are
closely related and likewise, they share many similarities and differences
Processes in a Nutshell The main difference between photosynthesis and cellular
respiration is that photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast and cellular
respiration takes place in the mitchondrion. Plants contain mitochondria and
chloroplasts so both they may undergo both processes. However, animals and other
heterotrophs undergo cellular respiration, but not photosynthesis. In a nutshell, the
purpose of these processes is to convert free energy into ATP.
Discovery of Photosynthesis
The beginning of the discovery of photosynthesis began in the mid 17th century when
J.B. Van Helmont carefully measured the mass of the soil used by a plant and the
mass of the plant as it grew. After this noticed that the soil mass changed very little.
He then hypothesized that the mass of the growing plant must come from the water.
3. Use Of Myths In Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
Myths are used by primitive peoples to record their history to make sure it gets
passed down to future generations. Achebe incorporates folktales and myths into
Things Fall Apart to show how Igbo people use them as tools for teaching their
children the history and values of their ancestors. Many of these myths and fables
draw themselves from the earth, sky, and nature, which the African culture
believes to be a central part of what it means to be human; to have a relationship
with the earth and the humans that were made from it. For Okonkwo, these
folktales are symbols which provide important values and morals in an effort to
keep peace within his tribe and to keep their place in Africa. Okonokwo tells
masculine stories of bloodshed and violence, however Nyowe still preferred the
stories his mother told, which are more interesting and less violent. He remembers
the story his mother often told of the quarrel between the Earth and Sky. Sky
withheld rain for years and crops withered and the dead could not be buried in the
stony Earth. Vulture was sent to Sky to ask for forgiveness. Sky finally decided to
forgive and gave Vulture rain wrapped in tree leaves to give to Earth. On the way
back home Vulture pierced the leaves and the rain fell as it had never fallen
beforeЛ® (53). This story illustrates the clan s dependence on nature for its survival,
and how children are naturally drawn to mother earth and all its wonders. According
to the locust myth,
4. Cyber Bullying is a Big No No
As technology grown over the years, it became easier to stay connected to friends
and family around the world. Not only connected to personal friends and family
but also strangers from your area or around the world and form friendships
worldwide. It all well and good but sometimes the world of the internet hits you
back in the face. In the world of the internet, there are people who will say anything
to upset youths to the point of the victims hurting or killing themselves. Mostly on
social media sites like Facebook and Twitter are playing grounds for cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying has been a growing problem over the year in Central Florida
especially in high schools and the only way it could be resolve is to bring the
awareness to the youths in high school.
For this research report, I have been looking in to the issue of Cyberbullying in
high school level. What is cyberbullying and why is it a growing problem?
Cyberbullying has been a growing problem seeing that technology has grown more
advances and popular among people mostly youths still in grade schools. Not as
physical as traditional bullying but it grows to the point where cyberbullying is far
worst seeing that it could happen anytime, anywhere instead of just in school. It
means that even at home, people still fall into victim of cyberbullies. Even though it
silly to take what people say on the internet seriously, it does put harm youths who
take them hard and they will fall victim to the point of harming themselves
5. Graded Absolutist Ethical System
As a Christian, there are three ethical systems that one could look to, to mold their
ethical decisions around which all include a foundation of absolutism. But not all
absolutism ethical systems are equal. Of the three ethical systems (unqualified
absolutism, conflicting absolutism, graded absolutism), graded absolutism stands
out as the strongest ethical system to follow. Spikes from examiner.com describes
graded absolutism as in moral conflicts, the dilemma is not that we are obligated to
opposites, because greater absolutes are not opposites of lesser absolutes, and evil
is not the opposite of good but, is instead the privation of good and since evil is the
privation of good, only the privation of the greater good counts as evil, since
whenever there is a moral conflict, we are only obligated to the greater good
(Spikes, 2011). Unlike the other absolutisms, graded absolutism focuses on the
moral laws as being absolute. The essential principles of graded absolutism are
these: there are many moral principles rooted in the absolute moral character of God,
there are higher and lower moral duties, moral laws sometimes come into unavoidable
moral conflict and in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The issue with this is that it does not fully cover why one should adhere to God s
moral law. As it says in verse 17, the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for
every good work, God confirmed that sin entered this world through Adam and
everyone born there after has inherited this sin. With this sin, come the moral issues
of a fallen world. Through the recognition of the cross, believers in Christ have been
given God s instructions on dealing with ethical

Forward, that is my favorite. I play in El Paso and so does Charlie and Wes. We all
get along really well and it is fun to not be the only Eureka kid there. I have known El
Paso/Gridley kids for a long time but it is fun to have a few other Eureka kids there
too. Charlie and Wes each play midfield and they usually pass it up to me and then I
cross it to Joey or Logan or Cole and Goal! (Or vise versa.) But me and Charlie and
Wes have became really really close friends along with all the kids on our team. I
also love to watch soccer sometimes too. My favorite team is Chelsea and then in the
FIFA World CupI am usually for Brazil or America. Me and sometimes Caden and
sometimes Dad will watch and I will be like WOW, what a beautiful touch, and they
will be like, Umm, ok. So, we do like to watch but mostly me. Basketball is my
second favorite sport. Me and our old neighbours and Caden used to love to go
outside at our house and shoot, but then they moved away and we have no other
kids to play with. But a lot of times I will go over to Connell s house and we will
have like a 1 on 1 game pretending

Comparison John Updikes AP and Timothy OBreins How to Tell a True War Story
Although the short stories, A P, by John Updike, and How to Tell a True War Story,
by Timothy O Brien, are both written in the technique of first person narrative, the
two stories are conveyed to the reader in very different styles.
John Updike, who was 29 at the time when he wrote A P, narrates his story from the
point of view of a 19 year old boy. The narration of the story of A P illustrates the
scene of the grocery store in which the teenage boy, Sammy, is a cashier who
witnesses everything that goes on during the day. The store is a theater, having
numerous skits taking place throughout the day with no script. Sammy is in ... Show

with the straps pushed off, there was nothing between the top of her chest sown from
the shoulder bones like a dinted sheet of metal tilted in light. I mean it was more than
pretty.
Although Sammy s narration of the story is really Updike s narration written in the
point of view, or voice of Sammy, one cannot be displeased in the way the story is
depicted form this particular day at the A P. There is no better way to narrate the
story than though the eyes and thoughts of a teenage boy in is prime.
As stated in the thesis, Timothy O Brien also writes his short story, How to tell a True
War Story, in the first person narrative, although the style in which he narrates is
quite different than from the style in A P. O Brien, who was an actual soldier in the
Vietnam War takes on more of an autobiographical approach to telling his true war
story.
The opening lines to the story, This is true. I had a buddy in Vietnam. His name
was Bob Kiley, but everybody called him Rat., suggests to the reader immediately
that he author is telling this story from his own point of you with the fact that he
gives the impression of the story being part of a conversation already taking place.
The statement, This is true., gives the reader an idea of two veteran soldiers sharing
their war stories in a bar, in which the next one sounds even more unbelievable than
the one before.
Not only does O Brein write is story from a more autobiographical point
10. Informative Essay On Healing Time
We really surprised you with the first set of surprising facts that you didn t know
about piercing in our part one article, and we have finally returned with part two!
Piercings are a body mod trend that is sweeping the nation, and is only becoming
more popular. We have finally brought to you the top eight most surprising facts
that everyone should know about piercing! Number Eight: Healing Time Because
of the differences in skin thickness and blood flow in various parts of the body, the
healing time for each type of body location is likely to fluctuate. Because ear lobes,
tongues, and lips have an increased blood flow in comparison to the rest of the
body, they will heal the fastest and be least likely to become infected. Number
Seven: The Healing Balance While it is important to keep a pierced area clean, it is
also important not to over clean it. Over cleaning can result in intense drying out of
the wound (which requires moisture to heal), improper healing or prolonged healing,
and increased risk of infection. The professionals recommend a light cleaning about
twice a day, and to avoid harsh chemicals such as iodine. Number Six: Go Ointment
Free It is often assumed that applying antibiotic ointment to a piercing would aid its
healing process, as it would to a cut. However, these healing ointments can actually...

The action of piercing is not federally regulated, and only regulated on a state level
in a handful of areas. Tattoo artists need a license to open up shop, but literally
anyone could start up a piercing parlor. Therefore, it is highly important to do your
research on a parlor and its sterilization procedures before making a potentially
disastrous decision. One of the best ways to assure your medical safety is to ask for
a walk through of the location s sterilization procedures and equipment storage; if
they refuse, it s best to find another
11. Development Of Wireless Mobile Telecommunication Essay
The purpose of the paper is to focus on the development of wireless mobile
telecommunication. Firstly, cellular network technology is introduced to understand
the basis of wireless mobile telecommunication. And then the history evolvement of
mobile telephone systems is investigated to help know the background of fourth
generation wireless communication (4G). Finally, the standard of 4G, different
categories, the spread spectrum radio technologies as well as potential benefits and
problems that come with it are discussed. Especially, LTE standard is further
explained, including FDD LTE, TDD LTE and LTE advanced.
Cellular Network
In the development history of data communications and telecommunications, one of
the most significant advances has been the cellular networks technology, which is the
foundation of wireless mobile telecommunication and supports users in locations that
are not easily served by wired networks. It is the underlying technology for mobile
telephones, wireless Internet and mobile web applications, and so on.
Cellular network is a network where the last connection is wireless. In cellular
network multiple low power transmitters are used, with 100 W or less, thus, the
spread range of such a transmitter is small, dividing an area into cells. A band of
frequencies is allocated to each cell and each cell is served by a base station (BS),
including of transmitter, receiver, and control unit. The base station provides wireless
network coverage which can be used
12. Catherine The Great Impact
Over the period of 67 years, Catherine the Great a former Empress of Russia in the
1700 s used various methods in order to implement foreign policy unto her nation and
the nations around her. Her accomplishments in foreign policy not only caused
drastic changes in her own country for her own people, but also in surrounding
countries and their people. The most impressive and life altering achievement of
Catherine the Great, was the way in which she intelligently and manipulatively went
about her way in seizing control over one third of Poland.
Catherine II first began her rule in the year 1762, with the help and advocacy of
multiple allies, some of which included the supportive countries of; Austria, England,
and France. (Erikson 187) The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This incredible win, made Catherine II out to be an international heroine. (Erikson

problems with the Turks had finally ceased, for her envoys had informed her of the
fact that both sides had declared peace. Catherine II was finally able to focus not
only on the welfare of her country, but also on expanding its borders even more
than had been done so before. (Erikson 312) Meanwhile, amongst the totality of
European politics as a result of the help from the Empress and her advisors, Russia
was about to play a large and meaningful role in the new order. It was prime time
for Russia to advance herself territorially, therefore, a second annexation of Poland
was quickly ensured. (The first annexation of Poland occurred in 1772, courtesy of
Germany, in an attempt to prevent Austria from going to war against Prussia). In
order to swiftly and smoothly start absorbing the land of Poland, Catherine II
joined Frederick II, as well as the Austrian co ruler Joseph II, in dividing roughly
one third of the vast kingdom between themselves. Russia was able to collect lands
upon lands, and over a million and a half new subjects. After winning miles of land,
Russia seemed almost invincible, especially in comparison to Poland, who was

dropped the blanket I had wrapped around me. Much better. I grabbed my carrots and
orange juice, dragged the blanket behind me and took my time getting back to my

Women were being treated badly by the Toronto Police Service when they reported
sexual assault complaints (DuBois, 2012). The Toronto Police Service was negligent
in its handling of the serial rapist investigation due to sexist stereotypes and rape
mythologies, which placed women who fit the profile as a vulnerable victim at a
greater risk of being raped. There was an emphasis on the apprehension of [the] rape
suspect over the protection of likely victims (McClure, 1990, pg. 169). The
institutional sexism of police practices during the Jane Doe investigation dictates the
culture of a patriarchal police work environment. The decision to withhold
information about the serial rapist demonstrates systemic discriminatory practices
that blinded the police force in providing adequate investigatory measures to prevent

I, Nizam of Hyderabad, am truly delighted with the opinion of the British Governor
General who has decided that I must stay in power of my state, Hyderabad.
Hyderabad has been under my rule for thirty seven years and this city has flourished
the most during my reign; it is only justified that I remain as the ruler of this state for
as long as I breathe.
My family, the Asaf Jah Dynasty has been in control of Hyderabad since the
decline of Mughal Empire. This dynasty was founded by Mir Qamar ud Din
Siddiqi, a viceroy of the Deccan under the Mughal Empire from 1713 to 1721. When
the Mughal control collapsed in 1724, Asaf Jah declared himself independent in
Hyderabad, and that is how we, the Nizams, have been ruling for more than two
centuries.
During the period of my rule, Hyderabad State became the richest state in India. I
was presented with the title of His Exalted Highness, and Faithful Ally of the British
Government by the imperial colonial British government for our collaborating role
in the wars against Tipu Sultan of Mysore, the First war of Indian Independence of
1857 1858, after which I became the only Indian prince to be given both these titles.
With the start of World War 1 in 1914, I contributed a large amount of financial and
material aid to the British Government. In fact, my own personal army served with
the British at the war front. My constant and unparalleled support to the British
government strengthened our friendship, which was exemplified in the raising

20. Desecration Of The United States Flag
It should be considered safer to allow a few protestors to burn or disrespect the flag,
than to allow the government to repress our birth rights by banning desecration of the
flag. Deemed offensive by many citizens, and a form of symbolic speech by others,
the constitutionality of flag desecration has been in question since the late 1800s.
Desecration of the United Statesflag is constitutional, as a form of symbolic speech
and protected under the First Amendment, even though many citizens do find it
offensive. The flag has been a symbol for the United States for decades. On June
14, 1777 the first flag was officially commissioned by the Continental Congress
(U.S. Flag, 2005, para. 3). The flag is a trademark for the freedoms embraced by
the citizens of the United States, and is a beacon of hope for those fighting to keep
those freedoms. The flag is greatly respected by the citizens of the United States.
There are multitudinous people who use the flag as a form of protest in ways such
as ripping it, burning it, or trampling on it. These acts are forms of desecration of the
flag. Desecration is the use of something considered sacred in a profane way. Every
American is entitled to an opinion and has the freedom the express these opinions.
The flag is a symbol of freedoms, stated and protected in the Constitution of the
United States. The Constitution is the backbone of our country. First written in 1787,
and since then, the Constitution has been amended twenty seven times

A Monkey Cabinet is designed at USAMRIID and CDC for use in the possible
investigation of the question of whether animals can be infected with smallpox.
The development of a lethal, genetically engineered mousepox virus (the Jackson
Ramshaw virus) and its implications for bioterrorism are described. Finally, the
awakening of the smallpox at the CDC s MCF West in 2001 by US Army
investigators to induce smallpox disease in monkeys for the first time is
dramatically recounted. Section 6, The Demon s Eyes , continues the story of the
induction of smallpox disease in monkeys at the CDC in 2001. It was determined
that the Harper strain of smallpox kills monkeys slowly while the India strain kills
them quickly. This was the first time that smallpox had ever been shown capable of
infecting non humans. Of eight monkeys infected, seven died six of hemorrhagic
smallpox and one of the classic pustular type. There follows a discussion of the need
and justification for animal use smallpox experiments. The emergency evacuation of
the Army workers in the MCF West on 9/11 is described. Section 7, The Anthrax
Skulls , relates the atmosphere at the Department of Health and Human Services and
their actions at the time of the 9/11 attacks. The story of
22. Essay On Nail Polish
Nail Polish Industry Analysis
Introduction and Background
The US nail polish industry has a total revenue of $1.1 billion and a profit of
$118.4 million in 2012, with an annual growth of 2.3% in 2007 2012 and a projected
annual growth of 3.3% from 2012 2017 (Panteva). The nail polish industry is able to
survive the recession because they are sold at low prices, starting at a retail price
of lower than $5 to $10 for professional grade nail polishes at drugstores (Panteva).
Unlike other consumer goods, consumers are not as inclined to limit their purchase
of nail polish, due to low prices.
Current Performance
Despite the recession that significantly the economy, the nail polish industry was

Nail polish manufacturers experience moderate indirect competition from acrylic
nails, artificial nails and nail extensions, which imitates the effects of nail polish
without applying any nail polish (Barbalova). However, there is a surge in demand
of acrylic nails and could lead to a decrease in demand for nail polish.
The nail polish industry has moderate barriers to entry. Coty and Revlon dominate
63.6% of the market and both corporations compete in the global market (Panteva).
As a global corporation Coty and Revlon highly benefits from economies of scale,
which allowed them to acquire several smaller firms. In addition, both firms have
existing marketing and promotional activities and the public recognized the acquired
firms. The manufacturing process of nail polishes requires a high level of capital and
is extremely technical. The industry is also facing increased regulations from the
Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (Sole Smith). The chief concern from the
regulatory agencies is protecting consumers from harmful substances in nail polishes.
A recent investigation by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control
discovered that 80% of nail polish tested contains harmful substances that is linked to
birth defects and asthma (Sole Smith). As a result, the industry is facing increased
scrutiny from the government. For new firms to survive in the industry,

kinds of peaceful protests. One of the types of protest was marches. At those
marches, the participants would be assaulted, wounded, and yelled at by angry

things that would happen would be the protesters getting beat up and getting, for

AFRS 2206 Section 001
Essay #2
Dr. Tanure Ojaide
August 1, 2012
The Nubians Who are the Nubians? Nubians are people of northern Sudan and
southern Egypt. Their history and traditions can be traced to the dawn of civilization.
They settled first along the banks of the Nile from Aswan. Along the Nile, they
developed one of the oldest and greatest civilizations in Africa until they lost their last
kingdom five centuries ago. The Nubians remained as the main rivals to the
homeland of Africa s earliest black culture with a history that can be traced from 3800
B.C. onward through the monuments and artifacts. Ancient Nubia was a land of great
natural wealth, gold mines, ebony, ivory and incense that its neighbors always prized.

The city of Napata gained its fame from the religious significance of Gebel Barkal.
The Egyptians promoted the belief the primary form of their god dwelt inside the
pure mountain Gebel Barkal. Egypt s sun god Amun was represented as either a
man with a ram head or as a crowned ram with a solar disk. It seems as though the
Egyptians identified their pre existing god from the land of Nubia as a local form
of their own supreme god Amun who was considered to be the important source of
the royal power of Egypt and Kush. The city of Meroe located on the east bank of
the Nile, was the second urban center of the binary kingdoms of Kush. This city
became the permanent royal residence of the Kushite Kings of Napata in the fifth
century BC. Nubian pottery from the earliest periods represented the basic plastic
material employed in Nubia and Egypt. Primitive drawings and engravings on
Nubian pottery had a form identified of some geometric and symbolic patterns.
These forms have been used on the surface of decorated pottery such as circles,
squares, or triangles which represented the initial signs of most ancient civilizations.
During the Neolithic period, people of this time covered their tools and pottery
products with different forms, not particularly of art, but rather for recording their
idea of life. Although these forms represent hidden symbols with no clear meaning,
its purpose or goal was to help unleash the human mind while imagining its

depicted as a man who will not hesitate to evoke the power of fire against those
who impose him (Lodges 44) .This statement gives a clear view into the kind of
devious and anger provoked actions Mr.Snopes is willing to undertake in order to
get revenge on those he feels have wronged him. This statement also shows the

Life as a colonist was not easy. When people today say ВЁthe good old daysВЁ they

Work for a man was almost always outside. MenВґs job at home was farming. Men
typically did the farming, but children also helped. Farmers in the Middle colonies
produced wheat, grains, barley and oak. They also raised livestock. Other jobs that
men could do was a blacksmith, craftsman, miners, millers, carpenters and

Children s expectations were whatever the parents need help with. Common jobs for
boys were helping on the farm, feeding the animals, getting water from the well and

29. Volatile Organic Compounds
Overview
The Edwards Air Force Base located in Antelope Valley in Southern California was
built to test new aircraft and help integrate them into the U.S. Air Force. The site
became a flight test center after World War II. As an air base, many chemicals and
fuel are stored here and throughout its history there have been spills and improper
disposals. This became an environmental hazard when the contaminants began to seep
into the ground. The EPA, the Air Force, and two state agencies signed a Federal
Facility Agreement in 1990 to address this issue.
Activities That Led to Pollution

VOCs can easily become vapors or gasses making it very toxic to any in the area
who inhale it. Perchlorate, which came from the many years of rocket fuel resting, 1,
4 dioxane, and various metals are non volatile contaminants found in some areas. N
Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) is a semi volatile organic compound suspected of
being a carcinogen and is a known hepatotoxin. Some of the less harmful
contaminants include landfills that may contain unexploded artillery, weapons or
other munitions related materials. Perfluorinated Compounds (PFCs), an unregulated
group of chemicals, has also been found and is being investigated at different sites on
the base.
Harmful Effects
Trichloroethene has been associated with hepatotoxicity. Exposure also produces
decreased appetite, gastrointestinal irritation, headaches, skin irritation. Chronic
exposure produces ataxia (loss of full control of bodily movements.), decreased
appetite, headache, short term memory loss, sleep disturbances, and vertigo.
Tetrachloroethene is a group 2A carcinogen. This means that it is likely a probable
carcinogen. It is also a Central Nervous System depressant and due to its fat solubility
it can enter through the skin and cause irritation. Acute exposure to
tetrachloroethylene can cause incoordination drowsiness, dizziness, and headaches.
Large doses, however, can cause unconsciousness and death. Chronic exposure can
cause changes in reaction time, memory, attention and vision, and

fortunate, and that word has many differing and contradicting meanings, each suited
to one or two particular people with that set of goals in their lives. Therefore it is no
surprise that humanity has a natural tendency to be ambitious, and to strive to great
heights. While this is a beneficial trait, society as a collective whole has brainwashed
humanity to believe that ambition is the most important quality an individual can

Even though the witches may have been lying, and most definitely did not have
Macbeth and Banquo s best interests in mind, the two friends believed the
prophecy, and their belief was strengthened when Macbeth becomes Thane of
Cawdor at the request of the King Duncan. While the title was certainly prestigious
it didn t satiate Macbeth s aspirations to be great, especially now that the idea that
he would be King was planted in his mind. In order to achieve his goals he would
forego basic humanity and morality, betraying the trust of the King, the honor of
his comrades, and the sanctity of friendship. Ambition to be greater than what was
destined is what killed Macbeth, not some concept of the wrong kind of ambition.
The want or drive to be great is not inherently good nor evil, simply a desire, and
Macbeth s natural yearning to be great was spurred into overdrive with the idea that
he could actually achieve it. However what happens to many great men is that once
they stumble upon or actually accomplish their goals, they are not satisfied and must
have more. This is their downfall, their inability to be happy with what they have
achieved, their ambition to have or be more that what they feasibly can have or be,
this is what causes the greatest of men to fall. According to an article on Forbes.com

31. The Social Contract Theory Essay
1a. The Social Contract Theory According to the Social Contract Theory, it suggests
that all individuals must depend on an agreement/ or contract among each person to
form a society, in which they live in. The concept emphasizes authority over
individuals, in other words, the social contract favors authority (e.g. the Sovereign)
over the individuals, because men have to forfeit their personal right and freedom to
the government, in exchange for protection and security, which I will further
elaborate in this paper. In the book Leviathan, Thomas Hobbeswas one of the first to
discuss the social contract. Hobbes explains that all human beings are born in the
state of nature , which means that all men used to live in the primitive... Show more

However, for such is the nature of men, that howsoever may acknowledge many
others to be more witty, or more eloquent, or more learned, and they will hardly
believe there be many so wise as themselves . (Hobbes, 1651, p.184). However,
individuals would believe that some men would be inferior or superior to them, as
a result, each person in the state of nature is in fear of others who may attack for
any reasons (e.g. gain, safety, and glory). But, men never wanted to live in fear, in
contrary, they wanted peace in their life. In such dilemma, individuals must agree on
rule to govern their actions. In other words, men enter the social contract, which
requires them to give up their rights and freedom, and act upon the general rules to
the sovereign. By agreeing to the mutual consent, individuals also agree to obey the
laws, and submit their obedience to the sovereign. However, the sovereign, in
exchange, must guaranty the safety and protection of each of its members for their
rights and obedience. Nevertheless, the social contract theory make men lose their
moral obligations, and forces men to act more civilize to ensure a functioning society
for all its members.
In conclusion, Hobbes argues that people live in a state of

Gabriell Needham, Making of the Modern World I found the film, The Killing

as if I could feel the pain of the innocent Cambodians in a minute sense. There is
absolutely no way I could ever imagine what it was like to live though such a brutal
and emotional part of history. The actors who portrayed individuals in the film

Lastly, I feel as if Pran finished the movie as a hero. After Pran escaped from the re
education camp, he came across a family consisting of Khmer Rouge official and his
son. Even though the official knew Pran was against the revolution, which would
normally be very deadly knowledge, he let him stay because his son had grown
attached to him. The official thought that it was time for his son to leave because
the war was starting to get worse so he left him under the care of Pran. The boy s
father was eventually killed and Pran took the young boy and carried him through
a mine filled jungle along with a few other soldiers in hopes of giving him a new
life. I was surprised by the fact that the Khmer Rouge official allowed Pran to be
around his son in the first place. I found the leader to be very easy going
considering that he did not have Pran killed when he learned that he could speak
French. I feel as if the official knew that the war was turning into something that had
gotten way out of control and before he could stop the madness, it was too late.
Cambodia was torn to shreds when Pol Pot s regime took over. As seen in the movie,

33. Comparison Of The Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers The Pittsburgh Steelers are a prime example of a Discourse
community. They have set goals and are not going to let anything get in the way
of those goals. As every NFL team has the goal of winning a Championship only 1
team achieves that goal each year. Some teams just aren t good in general and
some are great, but let little issues interfere with their team chemistry which makes
them lose. Then there are teams that come together on issues and work them out
so that they can be as successful as they can, but with this season there is a huge
issue that all teams are going to have to go through and that is the National
Anthem. The National Anthem is our country s theme song and it is very highly
respected throughout our great country. The Anthem talks about freedom, liberty,
and justice for all and about how there are great men and women who risk their
lives every day so our country can be free. So, when the Anthem is played at
professional football games everyone stands and holds their hand over their heart
and respects our flag and our Anthem because that is the least we can do to help
support and show our respects to our soldiers and our great country. As many
people can see, a lot of things are changing, and these changes started when Colin
Kaepernick (Former Quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, now a free agent)
decided to take a knee instead of standing during the National Anthem in the 2016
17 season. Colin says he did this not to disrespect the soldiers and war veterans but,
to bring awareness of the issues going on in our country. Colin said that he felt that
our country is not free and justice is not done fairly. He believes there is too much
Police brutality there are people being murdered unjustly and not being held
accountable Kaepernick. Also, he believes African Americans are treated and looked
at differently and it has been that way in the past and it still hasn t changed. Once
Colin kneeled and said all the things he needed to get off his chest the world shook.
African Americanpeople and professional athletes all over the world agreed with
what he did. I m not saying white people didn t agree, but it was more African
Americans that felt the same way Colin did and

Question: Does better living and citizenship drives immigrants to obtain more
qualifications than local citizens? An analysis of the UK. Introduction A persistent
trend in the growth rate of immigrants to the UK has been observed since the 1950s
and that caters for a diverse ethnic society (Bell 1997). Simultaneously, we ve seen
a sharp rise in those participating in any form of qualification/education and this is
most prominent for those obtaining higher education qualifications. (Dolton, Silles
2008) However, in some cases there seems to be a drive to obtaining more
qualifications than others and this sometimes results in over qualification, a
phenomena many have accounted for providing its determinants, the extent of its
existence (Battu, Seaman, Sloane, 1999) and how it affects the returns for those in
the labour market that fall into this category of over educated (Sicherman, 1991).
Although previous studies have lightly focused on how over education affects
earnings, studies either focus on the US labour market (Rumberger 1987) or when
they do focus on the UK, its effect are assessed only for ethnic minorities. (Lindley
2009). A focus on an aggregated scale of all races will supplement the literature
where I intend to test whether immigrants are likely to be more over qualified than
UK born citizens and then compare the effect on earnings for each of the two
observation groups. Furthermore, having obtained a result on over qualification, I

they couldn t do anything other than be a house wife. Women had to make men see
that they didn t need to be held to certain criteria, for example, women not being

Men believe women are weak and don t have what it takes to play a sport. Women
are not weak at all the most painful feeling (child birth) women have to do not men.
And without women willing to go through that pain there would be no more
human race, so if they can do that we can definitely play a sport. Still women
would not let men keep them down, in the 1800 s and the 1900 s women started to
form informal athletic clubs; which help states like new york and new Orleans get
popular sports like tennis, croquet bowling and archery. Even though they were
forming groups they did not have any women clubs of their own. But, some men s
clubs actually let women participate in their clubs, but would not let them have full
membership. Also, to all the many discriminatory women had to fight against the

would play intramural games for their women competitions included intramural,

37. The As A Visual And Television Culture
Throughout the years, types of media have gradually changed. One of the most recent
changes taking place in the second half of the twentieth century. In his book,
Amusing Ourselves to Death, Neil Postman talks about the change from the age of
typography to the age of visual media and how it has greatly impacted the American
culture. Postman points out several reasons to support his opinion that the transition
has indeed proven to have a negative effect on the American people.
How did, what was once almost entirely a typographical culture, become so
completely a visual and television culture? Postman begins explaining this
transition by first describing what life in the 1800 s looked like. Until the 1840 s,
information could move only as fast as a human being could carry it... America was
still a composite of regions, each conversing in its own ways, addressing its own
interests. A continent wide conversation was not yet possible (64). The only
information people knew of the outside world was learned either by word of mouth
or written letters delivered in person. Because it was so difficult to obtain
information, Americans generally were only concerned with what was going on in
their immediate surroundings. Even newspapers were mostly about local happenings.
The gap was closed in 1837 with the invention of Samuel Morse s telegraph. The
telegraph provided a way for Americans to connect with people who would normally
be too far to communicate with. Though many disagree,

the brilliant green grass. Everything seemed so beautiful. Bison wallowed across
the cold rocks as the geysers spouted hot water. It was an animal s paradise.I tried to

I was in Yellowstone National Parkand that morning my family had woken up very

When I had arrived though everything was new and mysterious. It felt like a
different world. There were animals I had never seen before and things that would
never have happened in California. I had to see everything.
When I did though, I started to tap my feet and twiddle my thumbs. The same old
misty air, big mountains and bisons, was just not interesting more. Except I had not

people, they do not have simple lives. Their society s wellbeing is built on a secret;
they keep a child locked away with little food and no care, as a sacrifice, in order to

Gottlieb s What is Justice? The Answers of Utopia, Tragedy, and Dystopia
discusses ideas that are evident in The ones who ran away from the Omelas. The
idea that a child has to be sacrificed in order to keep the happiness and welfare of
their society is based on the concept that good cannot exist if there is no bad. This
concept is similarly argued by Gottlieb. She claims that the good place ...cannot be
fully understood without its counter image, the bad place of the writer s own time
and place. (26) In this case, the people of the Omelas are the writers of their own
lives and the child is the tool in which they create their perfect world on. Moreover,
the contrast between the child and the people of the Omelas is similar to that between
the rich and the criminals discussed by Gottlieb. Gottlieb says that the rich create
criminals then punish them in the name of justice(25 26) which is similar to what the
41. United States Involvement In The Vietnam War
In the beginning, the United States always pushed forth the idea they were becoming
involved in the war in Vietnam in order to send out aid to France, who was an ally of
theirs. After the United Nations began setting up a plan to help France, the United
States suggested splitting up the Communist and Democratic portions of Vietnam,
with the communists having control over the North, while the Kennedy
administration continued to send military aid to the Southern portions of Vietnam.
In the end, the United States main objective in becoming involved in the Vietnam War
was to prevent the spread of communism in the region. After the Gulf of Tonkin
incident, which occurred when North Vietnamese patrol boats fired on an American
ship that they had discovered conducting a spy mission off the coast of North
Vietnam, current United States President Johnson used the incident to eventually get
authority from Congress to send more US troops into Vietnam. Slowly over time, the
anti war sentiment against the Vietnam War continued to grow amongst the American
people. Many Americans grew confused as to why we were continuing to be
involved in a war that was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Nixon was elected, he redefined Vietnam policy. Referring to the policy as
Vietnamization , it called for the slow takeover of the responsibility of South Vietnam
by the South Vietnamese leaders (Lecture 17). The Nixon Doctrine said that the
United States would continue to give aid to our allies, but would continue sending
troops into the region. Beginning in 1972, the United States began withdrawing from
Vietnam, until eventually all US troops were removed from the region by 1975. After
the United States removed all military presence from the region, North Vietnam took
control of the

policies and procedures Thrive on following rules and doing things correctly Revel in

I always act as a positive role model and encourage others to be the best nurse they
can be. It s always nice to hear compliments and praise, which leads to being
motivated and increased self esteem, and giving higher levels of care. As it says in
Chapter 4, it creates an empowered environment where nurses feel they make a
difference (Grossman and Valiga, 2013, p. 74). When there is higher moral on the
units, patients also sense difference, and it shows with a positive patient outcomes.
Acting as a transformational leader, people will look up to you as a role model and
trust you judgments and decisions. I feel as though when people work together and
praise one another, more gets accomplished and goals are reached faster. Since we
all spend many hours at work, it s important to like what we do for job satisfaction,
and transformational leadership definitely promotes this

This can be seen in Figure 2, which states The kabuki stage is equipped with
various mechanical contrivances for dramatic effect. One of these is the Seri, a
platform that can be raised and lowered from below the stage to make actors appear
and disappear Nowadays, this is motor driven.
Figure 2 was a much earlier depiction of the stage, now it is much more intricate.
There are over fifteen aspects to the stage that make it unique to Kabuki theatre.
Each one holds an important aspect. It is more in depth in Figure 3. Primarily,
when starting from the top left and working the way down comes the mawaributal,
which is known as the revolving stage. The mawaributal used to be operated only
using human power and provide for simple scene changes by simply revolving the
center section of the stage. Not only does it allow all of the audience to view the
scene it is also much more appealing then abrupt scene changes. Then comes the
Hombutai and two Daijin bashiras, the Daijin bashiras are two black pillars on
both stage left and stage right and between them like the Hombutai, which is the
stage prop. Stage right is the Shimote, which holds the left side of the audience and
stage left is called the Kamite and there sits the right side of the audience. Audience
s sit all over the stage because of all the different places acting takes place. There is
a little box in front of the Shimote called the Kuromisu, also known as the Geza and
