Looking At Cultural Relativism, By John Ross Essay
Looking at cultural relativism, you get a better understanding of the world. Just because
something may seem weird it doesn t always mean it s wrong. When you get closer to the
situation, you become aware of why a culture does a certain ritual or acts a certain way. In light of
everything, you find that what they do is not weird at all but rather a way of living within that
specific culture.
An example of this from the readings would be the Innuit. The Innuit make their home in the
isolated land of Greenland all the way to Alaska. They have a very primitive way of living and
have adapted to the cold icy climate. They have a nickname that is better known universally and
that would be the term eskimo. In 1577, John Ross, an explorer, came across a group of Innuit
hunters. The Innuit were very fascinated with Ross s ship and they strangely dressed people on the
ship. But what they found to be most shocking was the amount of wood that made up the ship and
the furniture on the ship.
The hunters thought that is was ridiculous or weird that the strange men have that much wood.
The hunters that Ross had came across was from Greenland, a place that had little to no wood,
therefore they were not used to seeing that much wood in one place. Everything they do is
centered around ice, even their homes are made out of ice. So we cannot really judge them on
thinking that Ross and his men were some type of aliens. They did not know better, for all they
knew, they had been the only ones on

Personal Statement In Structural Engineering
A simple bridge truss was the first structure I ever analyzed. The simple combination of beams that
could hold cars, trains, and trucks over long spans of water fascinated me. Having the tools to
analyze the loads on the truss further increased my interest in structures. I encountered the bridge in
a textbook for my first engineeringclass.
Knowing that the professor, Mr. Paul Davids, was a tough teacher, I asked him for the textbook
so I could study and get ready for the class over the summer. Just arrived from Belize, I was
determined to succeed. In class we learned about forces on simple members and then we put the
members together to form a simple truss. At this point I had almost decided that structural
engineering was the career for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this program I hope to draw on my structural analysis and geo technical research background as
a foundation for studying more advanced concepts. I am particularly interested in researching the
ties between the structural engineering, geo mechanics, and applied mechanics. I believe research
is necessary to acquire data and formulate theories, but it is just as important to know how to apply
those theories and use that data in the real world. I hope to be involved in some structurally related
research at First Choice U. I am particularly interested in two research facilities: The Structures and
Composites Laboratory and the Earthquake Engineering

Controversies In Youth Sports
The Controversies in Youth Travel Teams Participation in youth sports in the United States is on
the rise. Organized youth sports are highly popular for youth and their families, with approximately
45 million children and adolescent participants in the US (Merkel, 2013). There are many benefits
for children that can be attributed to sports such as: physical activity, learning motor skills, sense of
belonging, stress relief, and many more. With childhoodobesity on the rise recreational sports has
never been needed more than it is today. Over the past three decades, the incidence of obesity in
children has tripled, with one of every three children being affected (Merkel, 2013). Obesity has
many long term health problems related to it such as: diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure
cancer, asthma. We can attribute this health problem to changes in our society over like increased
technology, increased crime rates, fast food and isolated suburban neighborhoods. Sports and other
physical activities are needed to keep children from causing further damaged to their future.
However, the days of simply playing ball with your friends are over. It is a different world for
young athletes. Sports at a young age should be fun and a great source of physical activity. Yet,
many children are specializing in one sport early playing year round, joining competitive clubs, or
travel teams and participating in special training programs believing they ll put themselves on the

Baseball Bat Essay
During what should ve been the happiest time of the year I was stricken with fear and pain.
Now this time of year will not be so joyful for I will be in constant fear of another attack. While I
was enjoying my evening shopping for my loved ones, you were preparing to take that joy away
from someone in such a selfish manner. How could you think it was okay to take so brutally
from another hardworking person? What gave you the right to take what I had worked so hard
for? How do you for one second think it was alright to swing a baseball bat at my head and take my
belongings? Not only does this hurt me physically, but it does physiologically as well. Now,
because of you I have the feelingto be constantly looking over my shoulder where ever I go. I have
consistent headaches from where you thoughtit was okay to hit my over the head with a baseball bat.

nowhere near the amount you should have received. What if you were to have killed me with that

Biomechanical Summary
This article brings up evidence that argues for the ineffective use of Insoles. It shows evidence
from a biomechanics professor, Dr. Nigg, saying they only correct problems in the short term
and only for select athletes. 1 In contrast a professor goes on to say that biomechanics may not
fully understand how orthotics work .1 Supporters for inserts try to argue that they are effective
based upon the person. The co owner of Hersco Ortho lab said they do work, but choosing the
right one requires a great deal of care .1 There seems to be a contrast to this statement though,
based on evidence in the article. One study found that when individuals were able to pick which
insert they wanted, based on comfort, there were half as many injuries when

ABSTRACT Contributory Factors to the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET)
Performance among the 2008 Education Graduates of the College of the Immaculate Conception
By Dr. Milagros B. Cortez and Dr. Rosalita M. Licup The College of the Immaculate Conception
(CIC) is known for its high quality teacher education. The college provided the province of Nueva
Ecija with quality teachers in terms of teaching proficiency coupled with religious background.
However, CIC is now facing difficulty in providing more licensed teachers due to varied factors.
For quite sometimes, the college entrants for teacher education were becoming inferior in quality

This report is concerned with the effects of teacher professionalization on elementary and secondary
teachers in the United States(Clabaugh and Rozycki, 1986). There is a general perception that there
is a marked change in the context of education in general and teacher education in particular. In a
world that increasingly values specialization, teachers were found to be lacking in expertise in their
respective fields of specialization. It is also recognized that there is a shift in educational emphasis
from what to learn to how to learn brought about by an accelerating pace in the production of
knowledge triggered by the intensifying and pervading scientific and technological revolution. But
studies show that teachers do not have the appropriate learning tools such as communication,
problem solving, and thinking skills to respond to such trends(Yeban,2002). Yeban (2002)
continued that new imperatives are forcing teacher education institutions to re visit and re think
their assumptions, theories, and practices about the kind of teachers that must be produced. The
current curriculum where the respondents of the study belong is deemed insufficient to address
these concerns. Issues such as the growing gap between theory and practice, failure to make teachers

though the letter was from the 1940s, and there were many documentations of that time, my
mind was filled with awe of the historical relevance these letters could hold. These letters could
be a gateway to tens or hundreds of minds of women and men who have personal experience
with World War II. These letters were an entryway into the lives of those who had gone through
years and years of strife, of conflict. These letters give insight into the lost shadows of people
from the past, letting us forever memorialize and treasure their memories. I shout, completely
disregarding the goat, who lurches with fright, and flees into the thin trees in the distance. We
must gather these notes! Eleanor looks up with wide eyes, and nods jerkily in response.
Stooping along the sides of the road, we maniacally collect tens, and later hundreds of letters

it finally evolved into. We are so lucky. Afterwards, a run back to my car, and grabbing a plastic

Carrie Stephen King
Horror
Carrie is a story about a girl who has never fit in at school. All the other kids were always mean to
her. They ether never thought of her feelings, or didn t care. One day, in the girls locker room, the
teasing got out of hand. This time, a teacher caught them. This time, revenge was in order. At least,
that s what Chris Hargensen thought. The punishment for their crime, no prom. Chris wasn t going
down without a fight, but she sure went down. When a vicious prank is pulled on Carrie at the
dance, she snaps and unleashes he telegenic power on all the kids, teachers, parents, and the rest of
the town. The town will burn with Carrie s revenge, but will she burn with it?
Carrie White Carrie is the main character (you can tell by the title), but I would also say she is
partially the antagonist. Her mother raised her to be very religious and told her almost
everything she did was a sin. When Carrie wasn t like the other kids, they made fun of her. When
they would make fun of her, she got mad. And when she got mad, bad things happened. Carrie
learned she had telekinesis. The older she got the more interested she became in her power, so she
learned to control it. But a horribly treated girl and a dangerous power don t mix.
Sue Snell Susan Snell is the perfect girl every parent wants as their daughter. Good grades, nice to
everyone at school, and very pretty and popular. But when the teasing broke out in the locker room
she joined in.

Papuan Toby Research Paper
The Papuan Toby belongs to a group of fishes known as the Puffer Fish. They are found in
different regions of the world. One of the unique things about Papuan Toby is the brown and blue
dots that adorn the body. It is not a very good swimmer and can ingest air when it puffs itself. This
can be risky to its overall health as there have been instances where they float to the surface of
water. Basically, they inflate their size to ward off predatory fishes from attacking them. Also,
Papuan Toby has body mucus which is toxic to human health when ingested.
Furthermore, the Papuan Toby can grow up to 10 centimeters and can make a good fit in any tank.
It is important to mention that this fish can be territorial in nature. They protect their space and
ward off any intruder that tries to over step the boundary. It is not ideal to have two male Papuan

This would help to prevent the spread of the infection and also heal the infected fish. Generally,
the freshness of the water in the tank cannot be over emphasized. The Papuan Toby is a fish that
loves to be as close as it can to its natural habitat. Due to its aggressive tendencies, it can be a
delight to watch their activities in the tank. However, this must not be done to bringing about stress
points to their health.
It is important to give the Papuan Toby a live rock that they can chew on. This helps to keep
their teeth in shape and not affect their feeding habit. Also, it must be mentioned that they must
be fed twice a day. The only exception is if there are plants in your aquarium which they can feed
on. Generally, they do not require a lot of variety in their food chain. The basics such as frozen
foods and other feed that most fishes thrive on can be used for them. They would bring a lot of
delight to the excitement you get in your

Mind at Work by Mike Roses
We ve looked at work from many different views in this class. From the bottom in Mike Roses
book, Mind at Work which looks at the, on the jobsite skills and intelligence needed in the work
force. Along with the way our society and education play a role in that. And then there was the
middle working class view by journalist and author Barbara Ehreinch and her book Nickel and
Dimed, which saw a middle classperson look at the low wage lifestyle of Americans, and her
failed attempt to live off wages. It ended up very one sided and controversial since it was a
wealthier person trying to look in on a subject they could never understand. But one thing that I
never really felt or saw either one really look at is the connection between work and life balance
they only looked at the different aspects of work and those factors. But I feel there was a factor
left out and it is life, family, personal aspects. In a collection of articles unlike the other books we
have read, The Harvard Business Review along with the School of Business at the university did
a five year research on the connection and balance between work and life outside of work. But it
also looks at the higher end of the social ladder. They look at executives of company s worldwide.
Like I said, this edition of the HBR is a series of articles that go from a deep look into the
mommy track to different future looks on prospective jobs, and details the path of employees of all
levels on how to understand the tricky and

Reflection On Work
Examining my Work, Play, Fit and Push planner for this week I started off pretty strong.
Tuesday came and I slacked off a little because I started feeling sick on Monday afternoon and
felt even worse Tuesday, so I got preoccupied on trying to feel better and didn t work on the
schedule I planned, besides doing homework and going to my final critique. Wednesday I felt
better so I was able to focus on the schedule again, reorganizing my room as well as my
bathroom. I want to be strict on myself following today since being sick kind of threw me off
schedule and got me unmotivated. For the rest of the week Friday through Sunday I m going to
try to follow the schedule I have picked out since its little more laid back than the rest of the
days. Besides the let back of not feeling the greatest I would say this week went pretty well and I
can still finish strong this weekend following my plan. This week challenges were mainly
because I was feeling a little under the weather and was focusing on feeling better before the
convention came. So for the first day of the week I didn t get to work on my play but I did work
on my push. I would say starting off on Monday it was a success and I did get to voice my
opinion at work that day, sharing how I felt on a certain matter relating to the production of the
print and marketing center at work. Another challenge that I faced is getting my motivation back
because although I felt better I still wasn t 100% so I just tried my best. The

Ionic Compounds Lab Report
Background Ionic compounds and covalent compounds have many similarities and differences.
Ionic compounds are only formed with metals and non metals. Covalent compounds are formed
with non metals. Ionic compounds have an overall neutral charge, but covalent compounds don t
have charge. Ionic compounds are formed when non metals take electrons from metals. This gives
both of them noble gas configuration. Covalent compounds are formed by two non metals sharing
their unpaired electrons, so they can mutually have noble gas configuration. What properties do
compounds form when forming ionic and covalent bonds? Procedure The compounds are placed
in a tray. Tin foil was fit into an empty tray to make the same shape. The compounds were placed
into the tinfoil tray with a scoopula. The tinfoil tray was placed over the metal tray, which was
positioned over the bunsen burner. A timer was then started to time how long it took each
compound to start melting. DI water was then placed into a plastic tray. Each compound was placed

Salicylic acid, sucrose, paraffin, and sodium stearate are all covalent compounds. The ionic
compounds, on average, took much longer to melt than the covalent compounds did. For example,
sodium chloride did not melt at all, but paraffin melted, on average, in 28 seconds. The ionic
compounds also were more likely to dissolve in the water than the covalent compounds. Sodium
carbonate dissolved in the water, but the salicylic acid did not. The ionic compounds also were
more likely to conduct energy than the covalent compounds. Sodium bicarbonate conducted some
electricity, but sucrose did not. Some exceptions were calcium carbonate, which did not dissolve or
conduct electricity, sodium bicarbonate and copper (II) sulfate, which both melted, and copper (II)

Factors And The Effects Of Moving To A New Country
Effects of Moving to a New Country
Moving to a new country can allow people to gain a lot of experience as well as allows people to
gain knowledge about different cultures and traditions. Also several teenagers, who live far away
from their family would or may struggle from moving to a new country because they may feel
distant from their family but in most cases, a teenager moving to a new country will make them
more independent and exposes them to new traditions and cultures. Moving to a new country is
generally a rare opportunity that people should trust appreciate and try to gain everything they can
from moving. However, living in a foreign country can have a huge effect on a person because
certain aspects of the country such as; learning a new language, respect for others and career growth
may effect someone.
Once someone moves to a new country, they become exposed to a new culture and will begin to
respect and (maybe) practice the traditions of a country. But the main effect of moving to a new
country is learning a new language. Most countries have their own language and is spoken ... Show

GPA Class Rank
Should one bad test day that somebody had years ago determine their entire future? Test scores,
GPA, and class rank matter more than ever before, and have a massive impact on our chances of
getting into the school or job that is desired. These numbers should not define people for a
multitude of reasons. The standardized teststhat are required of all students is not an accurate
reflection on that student s ability to succeed in an actual working environment, hazardous health
effects, and the fact that students are haunted by a huge pressure defined by their family and
society that they must get a certain class rank or their entire future is out the window. New tests
should be implemented that give an accurate reflection of student s abilities... Show more content on

Through the years of school students go through many teachers which are all very different in their
teaching methods and how they grade. Some teachers offer a lot of opportunities to significantly
boost a student s grade while others are very strict about how they grade, for example, Student A is
the exact same as Student B, but one of them has a significantly higher GPA because they won the
teacher lottery. Until last year a lot of the computer in Plano ISD were probably older than the
students using them, this brings up another major inequality. America is a very diverse country in
many ways, one of these is income inequality. Many poorer communities around the country are
severely under equipped in terms of courses available, technology used by students, and student to
teacher ratio. Students that grow up in these communities are already at a massive disadvantage
when it comes to educational opportunities and keeping this same system in place will only hold
back these students that had the misfortune of attending and underfunded

Analysis Of The Article Advertising s Twenty Basic...
Paintings aren t as interesting as they used to be. Paintings became popular during the Renaissance
era (14th century 17th century). Artists express their thoughts and emotions through their paintings.
Paintings give off many messages, and the message someone receives correlates with their mindset.
For example, the paintingof the Last Supper, if viewers don t have the mindset of a Christian then
they would think everyone is mad at the guy in the middle (Jesus). Paintings are all about
perception and what the viewers can take from the image mentally.
In the article Advertising s Fifteen Basic Appeals , Jib Fowles gives the meaning of affiliation in
advertisement. Fowles states, the need to associate with others is widely invoked in advertising
(para. 18). Advertisers use this technique when they want the viewers to get involved. An artist may
paint an image of a happily married couple, and this may make a single man want to be affiliated
with women. Painters use this technique to bring people together.
Also, Fowles breaks down the need to escape in advertisement. Fowles claims that advertisement
gives the viewers the need to escape when we have a desire to duck out of our obligations (para.
52). When life becomes too oppressive we tend to seek for freedom. Many advertisements will
show an image of people who is having the time of their life to try to target people who are at a
low stage in life. Artists use transcendentalism in their paintings that make people want to

Robin Morgan No More Miss America Analysis
In 1968, a group of insurgent feminists rallied out to gather around other women to help in a protest
to fight against the hegemony of girls beauty in the annual Miss America s Beauty Pageant. No
More Miss America was an iconic pamphlet made to call attention to multiple degrading aspects of
the beauty pageant. In it, Robin Morgan, a feminist protestor herself, argues against the dominant
ideology of beauty in society. The New York Radical Women first thought of making this movement
after realizing how the annual Miss America s Beauty pageants were so similar to livestock
competitions at county fairs. To prove this, the women put beauty pageant sashes on sheep and
walked them around the boardwalk. The organization went through great trouble to protest their...

Women were protesting against the pageant. They wanted to prove their commitment to their

Should we abandon our country? The Vietnam war was the war between South Vietnam and North
Vietnam. Northern Vietnam wanted to spread communism to the Southern part of Vietnam while
the Southern part wanted democracy. Many people opposed the war because it was a foreign
war and the U.S had no business digging its nose into it. Others claimed that it was intervening
with Vietnam s own independence. During the war the U.S had drafted many poor american
citizens to fight in the war. Being drafted meant that you were being conscripted into the war

He says For every means we have to escalate the enemy can match us...To say that we are mired

them joining the war South Vietnam would have a greater chance to win. What many Americans
didn t know was at the time the only action where no unnecessary americans were killed was
choosing not to further entregue the the Vietnam forces. If we were to carelessly decided to drop

people to have the same decision, that joining the war would either end in a nuclear war between

Airbus Boeing
Airbus vs. Boeing
Stuart Taylor Chris Tillmanns November 13, 2002
The airline manufacturing industry consists of only two firms, Airbus in Toulouse, France and the
Chicago based Boeing. Two recent research and development moves at the two firms offer an
insight into the positioning strategy that each is taking in the future market place. It seems the two
firms are accenting two niche markets with a pair of flagship products, neither of which are in
direct competition with each other. This will allow for the firms to stave off price competition in
the short term by differentiating product lines, which is desirable given the recent increase in buyer
power gained by lowcost airlines.

Current Aircraft Market
The airline industry is in a downturn. In 2001, the International Air Transport Association had a net
loss of $17 billion, which is more than the industry has made in its entire history. 3 This has led to a
grim short term outlook for the airline manufacturers, and subsequently Boeing has cut 2002
production in half4 and Airbus by one fourth. 5 This, however, is not necessarily a good measure
of the industry s condition, since both companies have an extensive backlog that can be used to
maintain these new targets. Although the total backlog of 2,783 planes is worth an estimated
$172 million dollars6 it is also somewhat uncertain due to lax cancellation penalties negotiated by
the airlines during the boom years. Furthermore, the rise of low cost airlines does not directly
translate into a larger market for aircraft due to the fact that the success of low end carriers tends to
reduce the demand for aircraft by the large carriers.7 It is important to note however, that this is not
a permanent depression in the market, but a reflection of the cyclical nature of the industry.
Future Airline Industry Outlook
Both Airbus and Boeing, foresee dramatic growth in the airline industry over the next twenty years,
with the firms forecasting average annual growth of revenuepassenger kilometers at 4.2 and 4.9%
respectively. This will be generated by lower ticket prices and

Categories In My Word Cloud
When writing everyday, whether it be writing a caption on a new post, texting a friend, or
journaling everyday, people do not think of their use of words and how it reflects things about
them. The word cloud project takes those words and compiles a list of them that are used most
often. I chosed to use summaries that were written on my phone on days that were eventful and
I would like to remember. The summaries reflect what I did everyday over the summer and what
I liked the most from that day. Categories in my word cloud is summer school, softball, and

they should know better since they are more exposed to all kinds of different cultures.
Hopefully, with time and better education of society in general, the offensive words will
gradually fade away.4. What are advantages and disadvantages of deaf people using hearing aids
or cochlear implants? What are your thoughts on both of these devices? The advantage of
hearing aids is that they can pick up some sounds which make a deaf person feel more aware of
what is going on. There are digital aids that can be programmed to pick up the frequencies of
speech but these are designed for users with moderate deafness. The disadvantage of hearing
(digital) aids is that severely or profoundly deaf people do not benefit from digital aids. Others
feel that they are uncomfortable and they do not like wearing them.Hearing aids have been
accepted as part of the Deaf culture because they are removable and they do not involve invasive
surgery. The advantage of having a cochlear implant would be that is allows the recipient to hear a
wider variety of sounds and possibly develop better speech patterns however, it is unknown what
the long range effects of this device may do to the tissue and nerves of

Toni Morrison And Virginia Woolf s The Bluest Eye
Essentialists claim that women writers tend to avoid difficult societal issues, such as gender, race,
and political concepts. They critiqued that women prefer to be safe when it comes to the style of
their works, but that could not be farther than the truth. These women, have in fact, made a
tremendous impact on society and sculpted the way we see things in the world today. Toni
Morrison, author of The Bluest Eye, challenged the Essentialists claim by making a novel about
racism, and how it affected African American culture in the 20th century. Margaret Atwood, author
of The Handmaid s Tale, challenged this notion by addressing issues about sexual violence and
political issues, except in the shape of an extremist and dystopian world.... Show more content on

The characters who were apart of the African community are forced to accept themselves as the
outsiders , which has been told to them by the upper class white community. Morrison shows
how these stereotypes tormented the brains of many, sometimes to the point of losing their
minds. The black community was taunted by the white people, and Morrison made the focus of
the novel a young group of little girls who are just realizing the horrors of the world. Not only
does the novel discuss racism and it s effect on the black community, but it discusses the
unrealistic expectations of beauty in our society. Even the title of the novel The Bluest Eye
displays a stereotypical viewpoint of beauty. For example in the story Pecola Breedlove yearns
to have blue eyes. She hopes that one day she will be able to transform, and therefore be loved
by others because of her new blue eyes. Eventually, Pecola goes crazy, thinking that she has the
bluest eyes. Toni Morrison discussing an issue such as racism and unrealistic beauty standards is
surely not what I call a safe call, but instead, a bold and intimidating one. Personally, this felt like a
way of describing what happens to a person who wants to change themselves physically and
becomes distorted in the process...because it is, in fact, unrealistic to drastically change one s
appearance. Margaret

Testing of Packing Order Theory in Case of Pakistan
(1)Introduction
There are three main capital structure theories which materialized from the reflections on the

Descroption of the Kiwi Fruit
For the following assignment I have chosen kiwi fruit as my source of concentration and focus.
As I started to explore this object, first I have decided to focus on the outer appearance. Just by
looking at the kiwi fruit, the shape that I noticed is oval or cylindrical, kind of egg shaped fruit, a
little similar to lemon size, with the two ends on each side. It is also pretty clean and uniform in
shape, meaning that it s not wrinkled or shriveled as I look at it. Skin of the fruitis covered with the
thin, short, and fuzzy little hair, almost like it s wrapped with moss that is of brown color with the
dark greenlayer underneath of it that is evidently flat and plain. The overall color of kiwi is a
mixture of brown with dark green. As I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Comparing the two separate parts that I tasted, I noticed that the white center inside the kiwi was
harder in composition than the green pulp which was much squishy. I also came to conclusion that
the pulp itself had its characteristic taste of luscious and delectable taste, whereas the white center
was pretty sweet but tasteless at the same time, meaning that it didn t distinguish from any
particular flavor that I could compare to. As I worked on this assignment, I observed that as I
tried to concentrate more on the object, I became more frustrated and angry since I tried to get
as much details as I could. When I was describing the external appearance of the fruit, I didn t
have any major problems because I relied on my senses such touch, hear, smell, but as I was
exploring the internal appearance in which I mostly relied on my taste, it was pretty hard for me
to focus and describe it in details. Fortunately, with each detail that I found, I got more involved in
this and the flow of new thoughts and ideas came to my head. The more I was concentrating, the
bigger commitment I put into this assignment. I really tried to put an effort in this task and be as
much enthusiastic as I could to make this assignment pleasing, instead of just playing with it and
doing it in a half hearted

The Scientific Theory Of Evolution
Since the beginning of time, there have been hundreds if not thousands of myths, legends, and
beliefs of how the human race has come to be. Over the past hundred years, once thought to be
candid beliefs are being pushed around by the scientific theory of evolution. The Bible was
written over 1500 years ago without any scientific backing. Because of its widespread popularity,
most people believe it is correct. When a majority of people believe in something most tend to stay
and not wonder off because of what people will think of them if they do not believe in the same
things. While the theory of evolutionhas scientific evidence and is relatively new in comparison, it
only has around fifteen percent of the United States. Most will turn... Show more content on

This leads to the first point, Charles Darwin s theory of evolution. His theory states that organism
change over a long period of time making them more suited for their environment. When an
organism has a trait that makes it more likely to survive in its environment while the other
organisms die off and are not able to reproduce is called natural selection. Today there are many
signs that a person has, that show that humans have evolved from a very early stage of man. The
very early stage of man was a bipedal ape like creature that lived in Africa. Archaeologist found a
skeletal structure of what is know to be the oldest know finding of a prehistoric human, lucy. Lucy
was found on November 24, 1974. She is around three point one eight million years old
according to carbon dating. One of the major push factors that show that lucy is a common
ancestor of man is that it can walk on legs. As in a modern human s skeleton, Lucy s bones are
rife with evidence clearly pointing to bipedality. Her distal femur shows several traits unique to
bipedality. The shaft is angled relative to the condyles (knee joint surfaces), which allows bipeds
to balance on one leg at a time during locomotion. There is a prominent patellar lip to keep the
patella (knee cap) from dislocating due to this angle. Her condyles are large and are thus adapted to
handling the added weight that results from shifting from four limbs to two (Michael Hagelberg).

Confucianism Daoism
Taoist principles have continuously shaped the teachings of martial arts. Transcribed in literature,
the art of martial arts was symbolically represented through supernatural images of the assassin, the
Xia character, and the knight errant. Although Confucianism, Legalism, and Daoism all influenced
the establishment of the martial value within martial arts, Daoism functions as the greatest
influence within martial arts that is observable through literature and film. The portrayal of martial
arts throughout time demonstrates Taoist principles that emphasize both supernatural and
philosophical elements. Beginning in 722 B.C.E, Confucianism and Daoism co existed to produce

As an early form of martial arts, Tai chi emphasizes a softer and internalized approach to achieving
Dao. While practicing Tai chi, one must internalize themselves in relation to their environment. The
basis of Tai chi revolves around the idea that the human body functions as a microcosm of the
universe. By understanding one s qi energy flow one attains the capacity to function like the
universe. The goal of Tai chi is to harness the energy (qi) of nature itself and bring it into the body.
As a result, bringing the natural energy of the environment into the body will produce a balance and
thus, improve mental and physical health. The art of Tai chi and its emphasis on the connection
between the cosmos and the individual s body heightens the Taoist idea that everything that exists
has a source or a reason behind its existence. Furthermore, since the human body exists as a
microcosm of the universe, it has the potential to develop and function similarly to the universe.
This connection between the internal and external body can be examined through the Taoist
representation of the human

Similarities And Differences Between The Aeneid And The...
In many ways, Virgil s Aeneid mirrors Homer s Odyssey. Through context, characters, and themes,
these two famous ancient epic poems are similar; however, in morality and treatment towards the
gods, they differ drastically. By comparing the two protagonists most popular epithets, one can
immediately see how unalike they truly are. Odysseusis often referred to as The Stormer of Cities
or the Sacker of Cities whereas Aeneas is almost always referred to as the Pious or Good Aeneas
(depending on the translation). These two epithets create a divergence in theme culture between the
two epics, for they directly reflect the morals of the cities that these epics are written for and about:
Rome and Athens. How a community presents their hero is how they present their ethos. The
original of the two, the Odysseywas written (supposedly) by Homer around the end of the eighth
century before common era. As one of the oldest works of Western Literature, the Odyssey set the
stage for the later epics to come. Evidently, one of those works would be Virgil s Aeneid
commissioned by Augustus himself. On the other hand, it is rumored that Augustus asked Virgil to

Disadvantages Of Deep Learning
Deep Learning which developed as a Machine Learning approach has become very popular
nowadays. It helps in dealing with complex problem with a greater understanding. Traditional

basically learning data representations which is all about making things and presenting to real

mathematical models, which can be termed as composition of same type of functions wherein some

(Convolutional Neural Network) used in Deep learning for image restoration, works by
averaging out the output of various trained network to the same input. Neural Networks have

God s relationship to man has been defined by specific requirements and promises, divinely

scope
1. Case study: Nautilus Boat Hire
The business has to establish specific and achievable goals because otherwise the risk management
team and the individuals in it will have no direction, nothing to aim for. Goals provide a focus and
purpose for action.
In this case we have to turn weaknesses into strengths and threats into opportunities and all this has
to be specific, tangible and measurable.
Examples of how managing risk that Nautilus Boat Hire could adopt:
Provide of life jacket to all crew of the boat.
Provide of guide service in every trip.
Restructure the boats to make their use easier. Buy boats with easier use.
Distributed to each passenger a pamphlet advising the use of protective sun cream and even
offering to purchase such product also sell bottles of water.

Competitive Advantages the Apple s
1. * What, historically, have been Apple s competitive advantages?
Apple s mission is to make products that were cutting edge, designed beautifully, and easy to use.
They have been able to keep this competitive advantage not only by relying on its own proprietary
designs but also by refusing to license their hardware to third parties. They tend to be a leader in
new technologies such as the first desktop solution, mp3 player, and touch screen cell phone.
Jobs believed deeply in focus while the previous CEOs sought to broaden Apple s products. Apple
had one of the narrowest product lines of any company of comparable size. Jobs also believed in
extreme practices of secrecy, closed door policy in which key cards accessed only certain ... Show

They were able to capture over 14% of the smart phone market and introduced the Apple App Store
which would bring in even more revenue and benefits to customers which would convince them to
buy the iPhone. Overall people still continue to purchase the iPhone and there seems to be a sort
of following for Apple created products, so I do not think that Apple will have a problem with
maintaining a position in the smart phone market. 3. What are Apple s long term prospects for the
iPad?
The iPad was designed to be a middle ground between the smart phone and laptop. Some thought
that the iPad would be a replacement for the Kindle fire but that was never Jobs intention.
Eventually Jobs thought that the iPad would kill the laptop market but my personal opinion is
that it never will. The capabilities and design of the iPad does not always provide the same
experience that a laptop does, so only time will tell where the iPad goes. 4. What advice would you
offer the new CEO Tim Cook? * Global expansion like open more stores worldwide * For iPhone
open phones to every carrier * Develop its one to one apple program * Pursue stronger strategic
alliances with software

Plato s Theory of Human Knowledge Essay
Plato s Theory of Human Knowledge
Plato contended that all true knowledge is recollection. He stated that we all have innate
knowledge that tells us about the things we experience in our world. This knowledge, Plato
believed, was gained when the soul resided in the invisible realm, the realm of The Forms and The
Good.
Plato s theory of The Forms argued that everything in the natural world is representative of the
ideal of that form. For example, a table is representative of the ideal form Table. The form is the
perfect ideal on which the physical table is modeled. These forms do not exist in the natural world,
as they are perfect, and there is nothing perfect in the natural world. Rather the forms exist in the
invisible realm, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
is recollected.
However, in proving that what we call learning is actually recollection, Plato also proved that the
soul is immortal. As was stated, there is no example of true perfection in our world. Yet, we can
imagine the idea of perfection. Where could this idea come from if we have not experienced it in
our world? We must have experienced it at some point if the idea is within us.
Thus, Plato argued that the soul must have existed outside of the natural world. In order for this to
be so, it must be immortal, living before it came into this world. It only stands to reason, Plato
contended, that it must continue to exist after it leaves this world. How else would it have been in
existence before it came into this world? Plato believed that it was a rational assumption that our
soul must continue to exist even after our death.
Whether Plato believed that the soul migrates from one lifetime to another, one body to another,
some would say is unclear. However, I believe that the idea of recollection leans heavily on the
assumption that the soul is residing within the invisible realm before it comes into existence in the
physical realm.
If the soul migrates from one body to another at one person s death and another s birth, then we
would still have no explanation for the soul s knowledge of the forms. For wouldn t the previous
life have been spent in the natural world, just as this life is? As has already been argued,

The Importance Of Self Assessment
I was able to take three assessments that were able to tell me about my interests, skills, possible
jobs and education degrees that I could potentially pursue. The names of the three assessments are
the: Strong Interest Inventory, Myers Briggs Type Indicator and StrenghtsQuest. I m going to take a
look at my results for each assessment and compare the similarities as well as the contrast. The
highest themes that were measured for me in the Strong Interest Inventorywere the: Enterprising,
Conventional and Artistic. It s broken down into four categories which are Interests, work activities,
potential skills and values. For Enterprising, I felt that all four categories sum up me. The
assessment picked up on my leadership quality, ability to motivate and direct others.
The conventional theme did pick up that I have values of accuracy, stability, efficiency and paying
attention to details. It also said that I m interested in organization and setting up procedures which
is very true. That s thing at my current job that bothers me the most. The one thing I didn t agree
with is that I m in record keeping and I m not the best at that.
The Artistic theme was spot on as far as my interests and values. My interests were self expression,
art appreciation, communication and culture. The values were beauty, originality, independence
and imagination. I definitely view the world in color when dealing with most situations. There was
a list of my personal style scales preferences and the

Evolutionary Computing Based Approach For Unsupervised...
Abstract Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a stochastic randomized blind search and optimization
technique based on evolutionary computing that has already been proved to be robust and effective
from its outcome in solving problems from variety of application domains. Clustering is a vital
technique to extract meaningful and hidden information from the datasets. Clustering techniques
have a broad field of application including bioinformatics, image processing and data mining. In
order to the find the close association between the densities of data points, in the given dataset of
pixels of an image, clustering provides an easy analysis and proper validation. In this paper, we
propose an evolutionary computing based approach for unsupervised image clustering using elitist
GA (EGA) a efficient variant of GA that segments an image into its constituent parts automatically.
The aim of this algorithm is to produce precise segmentation of images using intensity information
along with their neighbourhood relationships. Experimental results from simulation study reveal
that the algorithm generates good quality segmented image. Keywords Image Clustering,

My Slave Narrative
When I was young I was a slave. It was a part of my life that I prefer not to flashback to because
of the horrors it brings me back to. One day, at our family reunion at the Chesapeake Bay my
great grandchildren, came up to me begging for stories. Since I had always been so private about
my past, I felt that it was a good time for my family to learn about my past life as a slave. Come
here young ones, I shouted, Would you guys like to learn about my former life as a slave? Yes!
they kids shouted as they ran over to my rocking chair. My oldest great granddaughter, Ethel,
was the first at the rocking chair and she asked, Grandmother, can you tell us about your
wedding? That s a great story, Ethel, one of my few fond memories as a slave. To start off, I met
Frank in the cookhouse while I was gathering food to bring back to our master s house. He and I
were both house servants. My heart stopped when first saw him and I thought he was the most
handsome man I had ever seen. On the outside, he was a strong, tough man, but on the inside, I
felt that he would be caring and sweet. Later that night, after I had finished my work we met again
in the cookhouse. Instantly, we fell for each other and our marriage ceremony was performed two
months later. What happened at your wedding? Ethel asked. Frank and I had a fairly traditional
slave ceremony. As house servants, we were about to have a formal wedding. For us, the black
plantation preacher came and then in the quartering

The Famished Road Essay
The Famished Road fits the description above. Some of the characters (Azaro and his father)
feel that the world is very corrupt. The only way to climb up the social ladder is to join the
detested Party of the Rich. They cannot have any real impact on the world because they are living
in horrible poverty and belong to the Party of the Poor. To compensate for their poverty, they spend
most of their time dreaming. Azaro s father plans to build houses for the poor, tar all the roads,
clear away all the rubbish in the streets, open massive stores to sell food cheaply to the poor,
become a musician, bring free education to the poor, become head of state, or an invisible ruler of
a very educated nation (408 409).

glorify themselves by using exaggerating words such as friends of the poor . But whenever people
utter fake announcement that time people from poor party reply with stark reality words such as
rain will turn into gutters , to teach illiteracy and so you can see better how to rob us . In this
situation everything is realistic. In other words nothing is magical. The political nonsensical nature
is delineated through the animal imagery. There is communication between photographer and
Azaro where he asks some tricky questions to know secrete things about rats and political

Baroque Music Research Paper
The aristocracy is rich and powerful during the Baroque period. It is called age of absolutism
because of the high power of the aristocracy. They use luxury entertainments to show their power.
On the other hand, the religious institutions, which is divided into Catholic and Protestant, also
compete their power with their baroque style in churches. And the middle class also distribute the
development of Baroque style as well. And because its ability of influence the development of
baroque style, a style that represent luxury, it shows that the social status of the middle class is
rising. 2. It means full of action and movement, well structured, filled with drama, being theatrical,
and can be referred as magnificent extravagance,
3. The music elements, such as mood, rhythm, melody, dynamics, texture, harmony, tone color and
form, has a characteristic defined in baroque. Firstly, the unity of mood means that one basic mood
is expressed in one piece of music. Continuity is the main character in rhythm, melody and dynamic.
Rhythm patterns and melodic lines in the beginning of the music is constantly repeated throughout
the whole piece while dynamics stay unchanged and stable mostly. However, different elements
have their specific defer, too. While a forward motion is formed by the continuous of rhythm, we
cannot over look that beat is emphasized far more than the previous period, Renaissance. And the
melodic line is not easy to sing and hard to

Assisted Suicide Speech
Some people think that assisted suicide should be legal and some people think it should not be
legal. This issue is serious because if the Supreme Court does change the law and make it legal
then people will use assisted suicide as an excuse to get help in ending their lives. Our views as a
society have not changed because we still think killing someone is murder and when someone is
killed we think that person should be put in jail. So if society thinks people should not commit
murder then what is the difference between murder and assisted suicide? There isn t one. Yes when
someone requests assisted suicidethey want to their lives to end but that should not give us the right
to go around and kill anyone who wants to die. Committing murder... Show more content on

If Canadians know that it is against the law to assist in someone s suicide why do they do it
anyway? If the law is changed then more people will go and assist someone in killing
themselves. If a person wants to kill themselves then they are obviously in a bad state of mind.
Section 7 of the Charter is supposed to make everyone feel secure. So instead of letting that
person commit suicide we should protect that person and get that person help, whether it be
getting them some sort of therapy or getting that person medication to keep them feeling better
for that period of time. Many Canadians are charged for helping someone ill or someone they
love die. Marielle Houlle, for example, is a lady that was sentenced to get three years probation by a
Quebec court in 2004 because she helped her 36 year old son, who was in pain from multiple
sclerosis, end his life (CBC, 2014). Another one of my concerns with assisted suicide is that
some people might use it as a cover up for killing another person. If a person shoots someone and
ends another their life that person can serve up to 14 years in prison. Yet this lady only gets 3
years probation for ending her sons life. This was a controversial decision as it was not
considered fair by many people. The law should just stay the same and anyone who kills someone
else should get an appropriate

Daniel Boorstin s The Image
In his groundbreaking book The Image, historian Daniel Boorstin described how our culture had
created a thicket of unreality which stands between us and the facts of life. 2 Taken together,
telegraphy, photography, radio, cinema, and television brought forth the pseudo event, an
occurrence staged to call attention to itself.
Boorstin was not just concerned with the now familiar photo op or media event. He put his finger
on a much larger problem. Americans not only confused the copy with the original but also
actually preferred the copy to the original. News was no longer gathered; it was made. The
traveler, a person who travails, had been replaced with the tourist a person who stays at American
hotels in France made to look like French ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While communications technologies have become more portable and de massified, they have not
diminished the pseudo event or stopped manufacturing celebrities.
In some ways, the navel gazing that goes on in social media has made us all stars within the
cyber universe. Celebrities are, after all, dream wishes about ourselves. As Dolly Parton once told
Reader s Digest, People don t come to see me be me, they come to see me be them. 6
What do Jackson, Elvis, Monroe, and Sinatra have in common? None of them committed heroic
deeds. Nevertheless, each contributed substantially to modern show business. Before World War II,
the singer was subordinate to the orchestra in billing and score. But when Columbia Records
released Sinatra s All or Nothing at All during the Christmas of 1943, the subordination flipped, and
the young crooner became an object for which young girls wept and

The Effects Of Fishing On The Big Trophy Winners
When I come it fishing, let s just say I am hooked like a large mouth bass is hooked to my line.
Ever since I was a boy and my dad took me and my brother fishing, I could never get enough of it.
Every time I would come home from school, I would ask my dad when are we going fishing and
he would always say boy there more than just fishing but being a young boy fishing was the only
thingI would wantto do. The older I got, the worse I got about fishing, I would always want the
new rod or gear that just came. I have been to fishing shows and watch fishing on the TV and I
always wanted to be just like the man I show be able to catch the big trophy winners.
Every time I walk into Walmart, it didn t matter what I was there in the first place that I would
have to go is the fishing area. I would walk out with what I really was there for than some new
gear that I need to fix my old gear or to replace and to double up on. The most that I am at my
worse is when I walk into a Bass Pro Shop, due to the fact I don t have any of the stories near me,
I would go crazy. I would look like a chicken that just got his head cut off running around see
everything that I can. It was like I died and went to heaven, the last time that I got a new hat and
some bait. I would spend hours just looking and wondering how good this will work for me may
it be a new rod, reel, hooks, bait, or even line. It doesn t matter if I have something similar to what
I was looking at but for me, I always thought

the prophet Isaiah in chapter seven verse fourteen, Therefore the Lord himself will give you a
sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel, (God with us).
The Magi visit the toddler Messiah in Bethlehem and Matthew reminds the Jews where the prophet
has written, But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of
Judah; for our of you will come a ruler, who will shepherd my people Israel. (Matthew 2:6 New
International Version) The mission of Matthew to his neighbors and friends, the Jewish people must

Anemia is common among individuals with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection [1].
In sub Saharan Africa, the prevalence of anemia is high people living with HIV are likely to be
malnourished, have low CD4 counts and have high rates of comorbidities such as tuberculosis and
malaria [2, 3] The presence of anemiapredicts poor clinical outcomes like death, clinical progression
to AIDS, morbidity and a poor quality of life during the course of the HIVinfection whether the
person is on ART or not [4, 5, 6]. Those who recover from the anemia have better clinical

different groups should be different.
As HIV/AIDS programs across sub Saharan Africa are maturingв€’ more people are failing their
first line ART regimens and are requiring second line ART regimensв€’ the programs should have
strategies in place to improve survival and to reduce morbidity while on ART [12]. In one part,
these strategies should identify those people at a greater risk of anemia during treatment.
We studied a cohort of Malawians on second line ART to describe the prevalence of anemia and
identify those individuals at risk of having anemia by assessing the prevalence, type and factors

  • 2. Looking At Cultural Relativism, By John Ross Essay Looking at cultural relativism, you get a better understanding of the world. Just because something may seem weird it doesn t always mean it s wrong. When you get closer to the situation, you become aware of why a culture does a certain ritual or acts a certain way. In light of everything, you find that what they do is not weird at all but rather a way of living within that specific culture. An example of this from the readings would be the Innuit. The Innuit make their home in the isolated land of Greenland all the way to Alaska. They have a very primitive way of living and have adapted to the cold icy climate. They have a nickname that is better known universally and that would be the term eskimo. In 1577, John Ross, an explorer, came across a group of Innuit hunters. The Innuit were very fascinated with Ross s ship and they strangely dressed people on the ship. But what they found to be most shocking was the amount of wood that made up the ship and the furniture on the ship. The hunters thought that is was ridiculous or weird that the strange men have that much wood. The hunters that Ross had came across was from Greenland, a place that had little to no wood, therefore they were not used to seeing that much wood in one place. Everything they do is centered around ice, even their homes are made out of ice. So we cannot really judge them on thinking that Ross and his men were some type of aliens. They did not know better, for all they knew, they had been the only ones on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Personal Statement In Structural Engineering A simple bridge truss was the first structure I ever analyzed. The simple combination of beams that could hold cars, trains, and trucks over long spans of water fascinated me. Having the tools to analyze the loads on the truss further increased my interest in structures. I encountered the bridge in a textbook for my first engineeringclass. Knowing that the professor, Mr. Paul Davids, was a tough teacher, I asked him for the textbook so I could study and get ready for the class over the summer. Just arrived from Belize, I was determined to succeed. In class we learned about forces on simple members and then we put the members together to form a simple truss. At this point I had almost decided that structural engineering was the career for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Controversies In Youth Sports The Controversies in Youth Travel Teams Participation in youth sports in the United States is on the rise. Organized youth sports are highly popular for youth and their families, with approximately 45 million children and adolescent participants in the US (Merkel, 2013). There are many benefits for children that can be attributed to sports such as: physical activity, learning motor skills, sense of belonging, stress relief, and many more. With childhoodobesity on the rise recreational sports has never been needed more than it is today. Over the past three decades, the incidence of obesity in children has tripled, with one of every three children being affected (Merkel, 2013). Obesity has many long term health problems related to it such as: diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure cancer, asthma. We can attribute this health problem to changes in our society over like increased technology, increased crime rates, fast food and isolated suburban neighborhoods. Sports and other physical activities are needed to keep children from causing further damaged to their future. However, the days of simply playing ball with your friends are over. It is a different world for young athletes. Sports at a young age should be fun and a great source of physical activity. Yet, many children are specializing in one sport early playing year round, joining competitive clubs, or travel teams and participating in special training programs believing they ll put themselves on the fast ... Now this time of year will not be so joyful for I will be in constant fear of another attack. While I was enjoying my evening shopping for my loved ones, you were preparing to take that joy away from someone in such a selfish manner. How could you think it was okay to take so brutally from another hardworking person? What gave you the right to take what I had worked so hard for? How do you for one second think it was alright to swing a baseball bat at my head and take my belongings? Not only does this hurt me physically, but it does physiologically as well. It shows evidence from a biomechanics professor, Dr. Nigg, saying they only correct problems in the short term and only for select athletes. 1 In contrast a professor goes on to say that biomechanics may not fully understand how orthotics work .1 Supporters for inserts try to argue that they are effective based upon the person. The co owner of Hersco Ortho lab said they do work, but choosing the right one requires a great deal of care .1 There seems to be a contrast to this statement though, based on evidence in the article. One study found that when individuals were able to pick which insert they wanted, based on comfort, there were half as many injuries when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

ABSTRACT Contributory Factors to the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) Performance among the 2008 Education Graduates of the College of the Immaculate Conception By Dr. Milagros B. Cortez and Dr. Rosalita M. Licup The College of the Immaculate Conception (CIC) is known for its high quality teacher education. The college provided the province of Nueva Ecija with quality teachers in terms of teaching proficiency coupled with religious background. However, CIC is now facing difficulty in providing more licensed teachers due to varied factors. For quite sometimes, the college entrants for teacher education were becoming inferior in quality compared to other degree programs in the college which eventually lead to lower passing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This report is concerned with the effects of teacher professionalization on elementary and secondary teachers in the United States(Clabaugh and Rozycki, 1986). There is a general perception that there is a marked change in the context of education in general and teacher education in particular. In a world that increasingly values specialization, teachers were found to be lacking in expertise in their respective fields of specialization. It is also recognized that there is a shift in educational emphasis from what to learn to how to learn brought about by an accelerating pace in the production of knowledge triggered by the intensifying and pervading scientific and technological revolution. But studies show that teachers do not have the appropriate learning tools such as communication, problem solving, and thinking skills to respond to such trends(Yeban,2002). Yeban (2002) continued that new imperatives are forcing teacher education institutions to re visit and re think their assumptions, theories, and practices about the kind of teachers that must be produced. The current curriculum where the respondents of the study belong is deemed insufficient to address these concerns. Issues such as the growing gap between theory and practice, failure to make teachers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I turned my head back to watch the road carefully, annoyed by her sudden outburst. She continued to stutter, overwhelmed with astonishment, P P Peter, we should turn around! These letters could be a gateway to tens or hundreds of minds of women and men who have personal experience with World War II. These letters were an entryway into the lives of those who had gone through years and years of strife, of conflict. These letters give insight into the lost shadows of people from the past, letting us forever memorialize and treasure their memories. I shout, completely disregarding the goat, who lurches with fright, and flees into the thin trees in the distance. We must gather these notes! Stooping along the sides of the road, we maniacally collect tens, and later hundreds of letters filled with personal accounts of the past, which framed at least a small part of this world to what it finally evolved into. They ether never thought of her feelings, or didn t care. One day, in the girls locker room, the teasing got out of hand. This time, a teacher caught them. This time, revenge was in order. At least, that s what Chris Hargensen thought. The punishment for their crime, no prom. Chris wasn t going down without a fight, but she sure went down. When a vicious prank is pulled on Carrie at the dance, she snaps and unleashes he telegenic power on all the kids, teachers, parents, and the rest of the town. Her mother raised her to be very religious and told her almost everything she did was a sin. When Carrie wasn t like the other kids, they made fun of her. When they would make fun of her, she got mad. And when she got mad, bad things happened. Carrie learned she had telekinesis. The older she got the more interested she became in her power, so she learned to control it. But a horribly treated girl and a dangerous power don t mix. One of the unique things about Papuan Toby is the brown and blue dots that adorn the body. It is not a very good swimmer and can ingest air when it puffs itself. This can be risky to its overall health as there have been instances where they float to the surface of water. Basically, they inflate their size to ward off predatory fishes from attacking them. Also, Papuan Toby has body mucus which is toxic to human health when ingested. Furthermore, the Papuan Toby can grow up to 10 centimeters and can make a good fit in any tank. From the bottom in Mike Roses book, Mind at Work which looks at the, on the jobsite skills and intelligence needed in the work force. Along with the way our society and education play a role in that. And then there was the middle working class view by journalist and author Barbara Ehreinch and her book Nickel and Dimed, which saw a middle classperson look at the low wage lifestyle of Americans, and her failed attempt to live off wages. It ended up very one sided and controversial since it was a wealthier person trying to look in on a subject they could never understand. But one thing that I never really felt or saw either one really look at is the connection between work and life balance they only looked at the different aspects of work and those factors. But I feel there was a factor left out and it is life, family, personal aspects. In a collection of articles unlike the other books we have read, The Harvard Business Review along with the School of Business at the university did a five year research on the connection and balance between work and life outside of work. But it also looks at the higher end of the social ladder. They look at executives of company s worldwide. Covalent compounds are formed with non metals. Ionic compounds have an overall neutral charge, but covalent compounds don t have charge. Ionic compounds are formed when non metals take electrons from metals. This gives both of them noble gas configuration. Covalent compounds are formed by two non metals sharing their unpaired electrons, so they can mutually have noble gas configuration. What properties do compounds form when forming ionic and covalent bonds? Procedure The compounds are placed in a tray. Tin foil was fit into an empty tray to make the same shape. The compounds were placed into the tinfoil tray with a scoopula. The tinfoil tray was placed over the metal tray, which was positioned over the bunsen burner. Test scores, GPA, and class rank matter more than ever before, and have a massive impact on our chances of getting into the school or job that is desired. These numbers should not define people for a multitude of reasons. The standardized teststhat are required of all students is not an accurate reflection on that student s ability to succeed in an actual working environment, hazardous health effects, and the fact that students are haunted by a huge pressure defined by their family and society that they must get a certain class rank or their entire future is out the window. Until last year a lot of the computer in Plano ISD were probably older than the students using them, this brings up another major inequality. America is a very diverse country in many ways, one of these is income inequality. Many poorer communities around the country are severely under equipped in terms of courses available, technology used by students, and student to teacher ratio. • 16. Analysis Of The Article Advertising s Twenty Basic... Paintings aren t as interesting as they used to be. Paintings became popular during the Renaissance era (14th century 17th century). Artists express their thoughts and emotions through their paintings. Paintings give off many messages, and the message someone receives correlates with their mindset. For example, the paintingof the Last Supper, if viewers don t have the mindset of a Christian then they would think everyone is mad at the guy in the middle (Jesus). Paintings are all about perception and what the viewers can take from the image mentally. In the article Advertising s Fifteen Basic Appeals , Jib Fowles gives the meaning of affiliation in advertisement. Fowles states, the need to associate with others is widely invoked in advertising (para. 18). Advertisers use this technique when they want the viewers to get involved. An artist may paint an image of a happily married couple, and this may make a single man want to be affiliated with women. Painters use this technique to bring people together. Also, Fowles breaks down the need to escape in advertisement. Fowles claims that advertisement gives the viewers the need to escape when we have a desire to duck out of our obligations (para. 52). When life becomes too oppressive we tend to seek for freedom. Many advertisements will show an image of people who is having the time of their life to try to target people who are at a low stage in life. In it, Robin Morgan, a feminist protestor herself, argues against the dominant ideology of beauty in society. Although the total backlog of 2,783 planes is worth an estimated $172 million dollars6 it is also somewhat uncertain due to lax cancellation penalties negotiated by the airlines during the boom years. Furthermore, the rise of low cost airlines does not directly translate into a larger market for aircraft due to the fact that the success of low end carriers tends to reduce the demand for aircraft by the large carriers.7 It is important to note however, that this is not a permanent depression in the market, but a reflection of the cyclical nature of the industry. Future Airline Industry Outlook Both Airbus and Boeing, foresee dramatic growth in the airline industry over the next twenty years, with the firms forecasting average annual growth of revenuepassenger kilometers at 4.2 and 4.9% respectively. Do all deaf people know how?I think that speech or lip reading is something that should never be expected out of anyone, deaf or hearing. I do not think that a person s mouth can be understood without sound coming out of it. There are too many different ways of saying things; lip shapes are different; lip movements are different; people enunciate words differently therefore causing different facial movements. I would personally never approach someone with the question of Can you read my lips? Hopefully, with time and better education of society in general, the offensive words will gradually fade away.4. What are advantages and disadvantages of deaf people using hearing aids or cochlear implants? What are your thoughts on both of these devices? The advantage of hearing aids is that they can pick up some sounds which make a deaf person feel more aware of what is going on. There are digital aids that can be programmed to pick up the frequencies of speech but these are designed for users with moderate deafness. The disadvantage of hearing (digital) aids is that severely or profoundly deaf people do not benefit from digital aids. Others feel that they are uncomfortable and they do not like wearing them.Hearing aids have been accepted as part of the Deaf culture because they are removable and they do not involve invasive surgery. The advantage of having a cochlear implant would be that is allows the recipient to hear a wider variety of sounds and possibly develop better speech patterns however, it is unknown what the long range effects of this device may do to the tissue and nerves of ... • 22. Toni Morrison And Virginia Woolf s The Bluest Eye Essentialists claim that women writers tend to avoid difficult societal issues, such as gender, race, and political concepts. They critiqued that women prefer to be safe when it comes to the style of their works, but that could not be farther than the truth. These women, have in fact, made a tremendous impact on society and sculpted the way we see things in the world today. Toni Morrison, author of The Bluest Eye, challenged the Essentialists claim by making a novel about racism, and how it affected African American culture in the 20th century. Margaret Atwood, author of The Handmaid s Tale, challenged this notion by addressing issues about sexual violence and political issues, except in the shape of an extremist and dystopian world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The characters who were apart of the African community are forced to accept themselves as the outsiders , which has been told to them by the upper class white community. Morrison shows how these stereotypes tormented the brains of many, sometimes to the point of losing their minds. The black community was taunted by the white people, and Morrison made the focus of the novel a young group of little girls who are just realizing the horrors of the world. Not only does the novel discuss racism and it s effect on the black community, but it discusses the unrealistic expectations of beauty in our society. Even the title of the novel The Bluest Eye displays a stereotypical viewpoint of beauty. For example in the story Pecola Breedlove yearns to have blue eyes. She hopes that one day she will be able to transform, and therefore be loved by others because of her new blue eyes. Eventually, Pecola goes crazy, thinking that she has the bluest eyes. Toni Morrison discussing an issue such as racism and unrealistic beauty standards is surely not what I call a safe call, but instead, a bold and intimidating one. Personally, this felt like a way of describing what happens to a person who wants to change themselves physically and becomes distorted in the process...because it is, in fact, unrealistic to drastically change one s appearance. When an organism has a trait that makes it more likely to survive in its environment while the other organisms die off and are not able to reproduce is called natural selection. Today there are many signs that a person has, that show that humans have evolved from a very early stage of man. The very early stage of man was a bipedal ape like creature that lived in Africa. Archaeologist found a skeletal structure of what is know to be the oldest know finding of a prehistoric human, lucy. Lucy was found on November 24, 1974. She is around three point one eight million years old according to carbon dating. One of the major push factors that show that lucy is a common ancestor of man is that it can walk on legs. As in a modern human s skeleton, Lucy s bones are rife with evidence clearly pointing to bipedality. Her distal femur shows several traits unique to bipedality. The shaft is angled relative to the condyles (knee joint surfaces), which allows bipeds to balance on one leg at a time during locomotion. There is a prominent patellar lip to keep the patella (knee cap) from dislocating due to this angle. Her condyles are large and are thus adapted to handling the added weight that results from shifting from four limbs to two (Michael Hagelberg). According to the bible, the ... Through context, characters, and themes, these two famous ancient epic poems are similar; however, in morality and treatment towards the gods, they differ drastically. By comparing the two protagonists most popular epithets, one can immediately see how unalike they truly are. Odysseusis often referred to as The Stormer of Cities or the Sacker of Cities whereas Aeneas is almost always referred to as the Pious or Good Aeneas (depending on the translation). These two epithets create a divergence in theme culture between the two epics, for they directly reflect the morals of the cities that these epics are written for and about: Rome and Athens. How a community presents their hero is how they present their ethos. The original of the two, the Odysseywas written (supposedly) by Homer around the end of the eighth century before common era. As one of the oldest works of Western Literature, the Odyssey set the stage for the later epics to come. Evidently, one of those works would be Virgil s Aeneid commissioned by Augustus himself. • 41. Plato s Theory of Human Knowledge Essay Plato s Theory of Human Knowledge Plato contended that all true knowledge is recollection. He stated that we all have innate knowledge that tells us about the things we experience in our world. This knowledge, Plato believed, was gained when the soul resided in the invisible realm, the realm of The Forms and The Good. Plato s theory of The Forms argued that everything in the natural world is representative of the ideal of that form. For example, a table is representative of the ideal form Table. The form is the perfect ideal on which the physical table is modeled. These forms do not exist in the natural world, as they are perfect, and there is nothing perfect in the natural world. Rather the forms exist in the invisible realm, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... is recollected. However, in proving that what we call learning is actually recollection, Plato also proved that the soul is immortal. As was stated, there is no example of true perfection in our world. Yet, we can imagine the idea of perfection. Where could this idea come from if we have not experienced it in our world? We must have experienced it at some point if the idea is within us. Thus, Plato argued that the soul must have existed outside of the natural world. In order for this to be so, it must be immortal, living before it came into this world. It only stands to reason, Plato contended, that it must continue to exist after it leaves this world. How else would it have been in existence before it came into this world? Plato believed that it was a rational assumption that our soul must continue to exist even after our death. Whether Plato believed that the soul migrates from one lifetime to another, one body to another, some would say is unclear. However, I believe that the idea of recollection leans heavily on the assumption that the soul is residing within the invisible realm before it comes into existence in the physical realm. If the soul migrates from one body to another at one person s death and another s birth, then we would still have no explanation for the soul s knowledge of the forms. For wouldn t the previous life have been spent in the natural world, just as this life is? As has already been argued, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The names of the three assessments are the: Strong Interest Inventory, Myers Briggs Type Indicator and StrenghtsQuest. I m going to take a look at my results for each assessment and compare the similarities as well as the contrast. The highest themes that were measured for me in the Strong Interest Inventorywere the: Enterprising, Conventional and Artistic. It s broken down into four categories which are Interests, work activities, potential skills and values. For Enterprising, I felt that all four categories sum up me. The assessment picked up on my leadership quality, ability to motivate and direct others. The conventional theme did pick up that I have values of accuracy, stability, efficiency and paying attention to details. It also said that I m interested in organization and setting up procedures which is very true. That s thing at my current job that bothers me the most. The one thing I didn t agree with is that I m in record keeping and I m not the best at that. The Artistic theme was spot on as far as my interests and values. Abstract Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a stochastic randomized blind search and optimization technique based on evolutionary computing that has already been proved to be robust and effective from its outcome in solving problems from variety of application domains. Clustering is a vital technique to extract meaningful and hidden information from the datasets. Clustering techniques have a broad field of application including bioinformatics, image processing and data mining. In order to the find the close association between the densities of data points, in the given dataset of pixels of an image, clustering provides an easy analysis and proper validation. In this paper, we propose an evolutionary computing based approach for unsupervised image clustering using elitist GA (EGA) a efficient variant of GA that segments an image into its constituent parts automatically. The aim of this algorithm is to produce precise segmentation of images using intensity information along with their neighbourhood relationships. Experimental results from simulation study reveal that the algorithm generates good quality segmented image. One day, at our family reunion at the Chesapeake Bay my great grandchildren, came up to me begging for stories. Since I had always been so private about my past, I felt that it was a good time for my family to learn about my past life as a slave. Come here young ones, I shouted, Would you guys like to learn about my former life as a slave? Yes! they kids shouted as they ran over to my rocking chair. My oldest great granddaughter, Ethel, was the first at the rocking chair and she asked, Grandmother, can you tell us about your wedding? That s a great story, Ethel, one of my few fond memories as a slave. To start off, I met Frank in the cookhouse while I was gathering food to bring back to our master s house. He and I were both house servants. My heart stopped when first saw him and I thought he was the most handsome man I had ever seen. On the outside, he was a strong, tough man, but on the inside, I felt that he would be caring and sweet. Later that night, after I had finished my work we met again in the cookhouse. Instantly, we fell for each other and our marriage ceremony was performed two months later. What happened at your wedding? Ethel asked. Frank and I had a fairly traditional slave ceremony. • 47. Assisted Suicide Speech Some people think that assisted suicide should be legal and some people think it should not be legal. This issue is serious because if the Supreme Court does change the law and make it legal then people will use assisted suicide as an excuse to get help in ending their lives. Our views as a society have not changed because we still think killing someone is murder and when someone is killed we think that person should be put in jail. So if society thinks people should not commit murder then what is the difference between murder and assisted suicide? There isn t one. Yes when someone requests assisted suicidethey want to their lives to end but that should not give us the right to go around and kill anyone who wants to die. Committing murder... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Canadians know that it is against the law to assist in someone s suicide why do they do it anyway? If the law is changed then more people will go and assist someone in killing themselves. If a person wants to kill themselves then they are obviously in a bad state of mind. Section 7 of the Charter is supposed to make everyone feel secure. So instead of letting that person commit suicide we should protect that person and get that person help, whether it be getting them some sort of therapy or getting that person medication to keep them feeling better for that period of time. Many Canadians are charged for helping someone ill or someone they love die. Marielle Houlle, for example, is a lady that was sentenced to get three years probation by a Quebec court in 2004 because she helped her 36 year old son, who was in pain from multiple sclerosis, end his life (CBC, 2014). Another one of my concerns with assisted suicide is that some people might use it as a cover up for killing another person. If a person shoots someone and ends another their life that person can serve up to 14 years in prison. Yet this lady only gets 3 years probation for ending her sons life. This was a controversial decision as it was not considered fair by many people. The law should just stay the same and anyone who kills someone else should get an appropriate ...
