Cultural Influences On Consumer Behavior
Executive Summary
Demographic Subcultures
Consumers identify with many groups that share common characteristics and identities. These
groups that exist within a society are subcultures, and affiliation with them often gives marketers a
valuable clue about individuals consumption decisions. An important part of the identity of these
subcultures is clothing. Consumers feelings about their overall economic prospects, as well as the
state of mind consumers have about their own personal situation, otherwise known as consumer
confidence, helps to determine whether they will save their money, purchase goods and services, or
take on debt.

A consumer s lifestyle refers to how his or her tastes and values are reflected by consumption
choices and how he or she chooses to spend money and time.
Communicative and Symbolic Nature of Fashion
Fashion reflects how people define themselves as well as our society and our culture. It is
responsible for consumers changing their furniture, cars, wardrobes, and music. It is important to
keep in mind that fashion processes affect all types of cultural phenomena, including all types of
products, not just clothing and accessories.
Celebrity Endorsements in Fashion
For celebrity campaigns to be effective, the endorser must have a clear and popular image. In
addition, the celebrity s image and that of the product he or she endorses should be similar,
researchers refer to this as the match up hypothesis.
Online Consumer Behavior
The Internet is transforming the way consumers interact with companies and with each other.
Online commerce allows us to locate obscure products from around the world, and consumption
communities provide forums for people to share opinions and product recommendations. The
benefits are accompanied by potential problems, including the loss of privacy.
Social Media in Fashion and Trends
The explosion of social media in fashion has transformed the industry s branding and fan base.
Nowadays, the public can watch fashion shows streamed live at home. It is now possible to

Nontestimonial Hearsay Case Study
Q. What factors from Davis suggest that the evidence would be excluded by the Confrontation
Clause? Hearsay Hearsay is a statement, other than the one made by the declarant testifying in the
court, offered in evidence to prove the truth of the matter asserted. Confrontation Clause Under the
Sixth Amendment, Confrontation Clause provides that in all criminal prosecutions, the accused
shall enjoy the right to be confronted with the witnesses against him. Here, we must first determine
if the dialog during the 911 call in question establishes a testimonial or nontestimonial hearsay.
Nontestimonial hearsay will be subject to the FRE and falls outside of the scope of the
Confrontational Clause protection. Therefore, the provision of the Confrontation Clause would be
inapplicable. Testimonial Statement Statements are testimonial when the circumstances indicate
that there is no ongoing emergency, and that the primary purpose of the interrogation is to establish
evidence for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is apparent that the victim was making the phone call from the place of reasonable safety since
the defendant had left the house. Also, she stated that she was not physically hurt and didn t need
any medical attention. Even though the operator told the victim that the police was on their way
to her place, she expressed her wish twice during the call to get the defendant arrested. Her
concerns for the defendant s return does not give rise to the situation necessarily deemed to be an
emergency. These facts suggest that the purpose of her 911 call was not made in her effort to
obtain the police assistance urgently in resolving the danger that she might have been facing at the
time of her call. It was rather to document the past event. It was for the purpose of reporting the
details of the assault that had occurred just a short moment ago and more particularly for
establishing the evidence to arrest

Who Was Responsible For Macbeth s Downfall
MacBeth Analysis In the play MacBeth written by William Shakespeare, the main character
MacBeth was given a prophecy to become a king by three witches. In order for MacBeth to be
king, however, the current king has to be deceased; MacBeth was hoping that, by fate, King
Duncan would pass away naturally. Sadly, destiny did not favor MacBethas he has to murder King
Duncanfor him to become a king. Between MacBeth and his wife Lady MacBeth, MacBeth is the
more responsible person for the murder, thus making MacBeth the greater of two evil. After a
battle, three witches met with MacBeth to give him a prophecy that he will one day be a king.
In order for MacBeth to be king, the current one who was King Duncan, had to pass away or be
killed by someone else. If chance will have me King, why,/ chance may crown me,/ Without my

Ed Neumeister s Birds Of Prey
Ed Neumeister, a former member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, is a versatile trombonist,
composer, arranger, and conductor who debuted his 17 piece jazz orchestra The NeuHat Ensemble
in 1983. Since then, the reputed band has accommodated several jazz luminaries such as Joe
Lovano, Kenny Werner, and Don Byron, just to name a few. Subjected to alterations in its lineup
throughout the years, the ensemble was reunited after Neumeister has returned to the US from
Austria, where he taught for nearly 15 years. As a result, Wake Up Call, the new record, holds out
to eight evocative originals solidly orchestrated through airy and polished arrangements.

This piece, composed in 1995 and previously recorded for the Jazz Big Band Graz record, exudes
scented spring breezes with dulcet benevolence and optimistic oceanic textures, featuring delightful
saxophone and trombone solos. The title track follows a similar pacifism yet slightly more
concentrated in texture.
With an impactful dramatic punch, New Groove is buoyed by hi hat cymbal and a groovy cadence
of piano and bass. The tune features the singular verbalization of saxophonist Rich Perry
intercalated with orchestral usurpations.
The title Reflection was well chosen for a piece that achieves the desired levels of symphonic
sophistication through beautiful counterpoints delivered in the form of cries, whispers, and hushed
murmurs. On the contrary, Deliberation is a gently swinging piece propelled by a controlled bass
sway plus ticklish brushed drumming, and adorned with non colliding guitar and piano compings
and horn unisons afloat. The improvisers are Mark Gross on alto saxophone and Neumeister on an

My Personal Statement On My Career
This class has overall been one of my favorite classes that I have taken over the past four years
five years at DeSales. I learned more than I expected and have implemented some of these
learned lessons towards simple excel calculations into my work at my job. For my chosen
project, I decided to take a look at one of my hobbies. During my senior year I took a personal
finance and discussed with one of my professors about my collection of trading cards. The result
of this conversation, had me start thinking about the overall value of my collection for insurance
purposes and if I ever sold the collection. After my undergrad was over, I decided to pick up some
hobbies and one was to continue my interest in collecting Pokemon cards. When I has very
young, Pokemon was my life and I spent most of my time after school playing the video games
or collecting the cards. For a brief time in high school, I began to sell my cards and got out of
Pokemon altogether. However, once college began, one method that helped me study was
watching video game walkthroughs on YouTube. This lead to me watching more Pokemon
videos and even into finding two Poketubers (those on YouTube who create videos related to
Pokemon) who I follow daily. Some of their videos even had them opening up packs of Pokemon
cards which fully got me back into Pokemon. Now that I have completed undergrad and have
some more free time on my hands, I have picked up collecting Pokemon cards and as result of

1. The management of Deutsche Bank can not get along with the management of Dresdner Bank

Carrie Anne Pope Comes Home
Thank you for the opportunity to read the next chapter in your work, Carrie Anne Pope Comes
Home. I enjoyed the use of the small kid and her mother in the Greyhound bus as a real life
image of what Carrie Anne would love to do for her own child, Winnie. I thought that the
paragraph starting, Carrie Anne wanted to make her daughter sandwiches and cut up apples in
perfect star shapes. (3) worked well in particular. The reemergence of routine worked well when
Carrie Anne comes home such as her going through the back door as visitors only came through
the front door as well as the arrangement of the groceries on page 6 in the fridge which signals to
her that Winnie is at home. Milk on the top shelf, butter next to the cheese covered in butcher...

On page 5, when Carrie Anne was in conversation with the cops in front of her family home, I can t
imagine her saying out loud that she was in rehab, especially in front of Mrs. Boadean, who she
hadn t seen in years and but was still effected by her meanness and with her carefulness in her
recovery. Within Carrie Anne and Winnie s conversation in the house, some interiority of how both
Carrie Anne and Winnie felt in the exchange would help add more to the situation and Winnie s
character development since Carrie Anne s departure. For example, on page 8, when Winnie asks
why Carrie Anne is crying, this is the first time she s heard Winnie s voice in a long time. There
could be some emotional response, whether externally or internally, or shock. Also, in that
exchange, how did Winnie seem to Carrie Anne in her physicality along with her responses? Also,
within his conversation, Carrie Anne seems so fluid in her speech when talking to Winnie that I
didn t buy at the moment that she was affected by the moment. This is a huge deal to her and all
of the guilt and conflict that she has gone through without Winnie. Some inner dialogue within the
conversation along with it as well as some slowing down in the pace would help make those more
relatable to the moment. Good job and I look forward to your next

Essay On Living Standards In The UK
There is no doubt that the United Kingdom s living standards evolved positively during this last
decade. Living standard is understood as the level of income and comfort of a person, family or a
group, and the UK increasing the quality of their public services allowed them to move up their
ranking position by two places since 2009 in the Legatum Prosperity Index, and presently, the UK
ranks the tenth position in the world. However, the United Kingdom hasn t been developing their

According to Priti Patel s speech in July 2016, as the Secretary of State for International
Development from the UK, said that they started an economic development strategy , which has the
main goal to strengthen developing countries ability to trade more with external partners (including
the UK) while helping to create millions of jobs in countries across the world. In this case, African
countries would be considered as their trading partners of the future, she said. When the UK came
out from the European Union, existing relationships with African countries had to be renovated in
order to establish new trade and investment links, hence African regions would allow British
businesses to arise again. The African oil exports and metals are indispensable for the UK
agricultural and manufacturing areas nowadays, and as the UK has more access to African trading
market, they also take advantage of an easier access to those natural resources. If the UK supports
African economic growth by strengthening their trade agreements, then the UK would increase the
living standard of its population. However, African manufactured goods are being exported to many
other powerful countries in the world and with the highest economic growth, and those countries
would include China and the U.S. At this point, as the demand for African manufactured goods and

Critical Analysis Of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
Critical Analysis of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
The speaker in Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken gives the reader insight into human nature
with each line of poetry. While, Frost had not originally intended for this to be an inspirational
poem, line by line, the speaker is encouraging each reader to seek out his or her own personal
path in the journey of life. Romanticizing the rural woods of New England creates the perfect
setting for the theme of self discovery laid out and described by the speaker.
Robert Frost s original intent in writing the poem was not to convey the inspiration that it has for
almost a hundred years. He had written the poem to poke fun at his friend, Edward Thomas, with
whom he had taken many walks. Thomas was hesitant and always wondering what would happen if
he had chosen a different path (http://www.yoga.com/raw/readings/frost_road.html). In fact, Frost
sent the poem to his friend, then in France, and got the response, ?What are you trying to do with
me?? (http://www.libarts.sfasu.edu/Frost/PopPoems.html). However, Frost did see the impact the
poem was having and stated, Do not follow where the path may lead?Go instead where there is no
path and leave a trail.
The speaker communicates many things in the first stanza of the poem. The first line, ?Two roads
diverged in a yellow wood,? uses imagery with the color yellow, the color of gold, to show that
the speaker sees an opportunity ahead of him. The two roads symbolizes the choices and
consequences he must choose. The next line, ?And sorry I could not travel both,? illustrates how
difficult it is to make a choice. It is impossible not to wonder what could happen by choosing the
other road and what he could be missing out on. ?And being one traveler long I stood,? shows
how the speaker would like to be in two places at once. Unable to accomplish this, he takes a
long time to decide on what he should do. Finally, the speaker describes studying the first option,
looking as far into the future as he possibly could with the lines, ?And looked down one as far as I
could to where it bent in the undergrowth.?
The speaker continues to convey his message in the second stanza of ?The Road Not Taken.? In the
opening line of this

The Apostle Of The Deaf Essay
Louis Laurent Marie Clerc or commonly known as the Apostle of the Deaf in America , was born
December 26, 1785 in La Balme les Grottes, France. Mr. Clerc was born in a village in the south
eastern side of France; he came from a well off middle class family that would have been
considered bourgeois for his time. His father was Joseph Francis Clerc a civil attorney for the royal
family and his mother was Marie Elizabeth Candy whose father was a notary public. Her father as
well as being an attorney also served as major of their Balme les Grottes village from 1780 to
1814[1]. Laurent Clercwas born with the ability to hear, but around the age of one, Laurent was
left unattended for a few moments and manage to climb on top of a chair and fall onto the
kitchen fireplace, badly injuring the right side of this face. After this incident Clerc developed a
fever and lost his hearing and sense of smell [2]. He developed a scar underneath his right ear, this
interestingly enough helped create his name sign according to author Loida Canlas, His name sign
derives from the scar that remained the middle and index fingers brushed downward across the
right cheek near the mouth (Canlas) [1] ; it is believed that Laurent Clerc name sign is one of the
most iconic and recognizable name sign in American deaf culture. It is speculated and was argued
by Clerc himself, that he might have been born deaf, but that it was only discovered after the
accident and attributed to it [1]. When Clerc

A myth that many college age users like to believe is that there are numerous ways we can speed
up the process of becoming sober. These commonly believed methods include, drinking coffee,
taking a cold shower or exercising. There is only one way that a drinker can sober up and that is
to let the liver breakdown the alcohol. This process can differ in people depending on their
individual rate of metabolism, but overall this is a slow process that requires a significant amount
of time and cannot be sped up by outside means. Another commonly accepted myth and one that is
often encouraged is that drinking hard liquor will get you drunk faster than drinking beer. In fact,
the amount of alcohol in one beer is equal to the amount of alcohol in one shot of hard liquor,
(U.S. Department of Health, 1977). Although many of these myths would be beneficial to our
drinking experiences, they are all in fact false and users of alcohol must be aware of them.
Alcohol is one of the most commonly used drugs in the United States today. Sixty three percent of
Americans over the age of 18 said they have consumed alcohol at least once in the past year,
(National, 2001). A survey, conducted by the Core Institute, of 55,026 college students, ranging
from freshmen to seniors to non seeking degree students, from across the United States showed that
84.1% of students consumed alcohol at least once a year and that 72.1% of students

Burham House Sociology
Monterey House Located on the grounds of Roanoke College s campus is the reportedly haunted
house known as Monterey. This house was built in 1853 by the Huff family, over time passed
through many different owners, and in 2002 was officially bought by Roanoke College.
Throughout the history of the house several of the occupants are known to have died within the
premises of the property, thus contributing to it s reputation of being haunted. In our investigation
of the Monterey house we spent two nights in the house gathering various types of data to aid us in
our attempt to discover what theoryof haunting is consistent with the experiences within the house.
The experiences within the house can be explained through several different theories... Show more

For example, the numerous dowsing hits found in the house can be attributed to the priming or
bias of the people conducting the dowsing sweeps. They might be unaware of the priming and
the bias caused by following or trying to repeat the results of another. In addition to the dowsing
hits, the psychological theory of explanation is also supported by the reports of hearing voices
that are not actually there. This can be attributed to a lack of sleep causing hallucinations, fueled
by a self fulfilling prophecy, like purposefully looking for a specific piece of evidence in your
data until you find it, and can even be attributed to hearing damage or impairment due to health
problems or old age. Another possible explanation for the hauntings can be seen with deja vu, or
the experiencing of intense familiarity with something in the present environment that leads you
to believe you have experienced it before. An exemplification of this theory can be seen when
Robin experienced feelings of familiarity while listening to a song during one of the vigils, but
could not place where she had heard it before. This feeling of familiarity is derived by the brain s
inability to recall the information related to the potential memory, and is sometimes referred to as
the tip of the tongue phenomena. Overall, the data collected from Monterey is mostly explained by

Sexual Orientation, By Sarah Waters
Throughout human history, various minority groups find themselves the targets of prejudice,
discrimination, and even violent acts of hatred. One of the most notable ways in which the
struggles of these groups are documented and exemplified is through literature. Sexual orientation,
and more specifically homosexuality, is a prominent point of controversy within the world of fiction
writing, as well as through the nonfictional history of various societies. Sarah Waters Affinityis a
prime example of how history and fiction can intertwine. Waters wrote this novel in the 1990 s, but
set it in London during the Victorian Era. In order to create a realistic narrative, Waters had to ensure
that it was historically accurate, even down to the societal impact of Margaret s sexual preferences.
Though it was not overtly discussed, the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries marked the era in
which ...homosexuality in its modern form truly began to emerge (Willett 351). From the start of
Affinity, Margaret s emotional and psychological flaws are exposed through her diary. She also
reveals details about her relationship with Helen, which ultimately foreshadows the outcome of her
future romantic relationships. Many of Margaret s hardships come from the pressures that her
society puts on her and, in turn, she develops unhealthy relationships with those around her. Her
isolation plays a huge factor in her dependence on Selina, another woman who appears to be in the
same position as Margaret

Iago And Iago In William Shakespeare s Othello
Humans do not recognize the devastating destruction that words are capable of having when in the
right hands. The play Othello, written by William Shakespeare, demonstrates the conceivable
power that dwells within words through the character Iago. The character, Iago, has a complete
understanding of his victims nature down to their essence. In addition, because he does not have
any core beliefs or morals, Iagogains the ability to ultimately change his faith and principals. In
short, the biggest factor that contributes to Iago s successful manipulation is his ability to carefully
select words in the language.
Iago understands his companions to the very core by having complete knowledge of their behavior
and beliefs. He is able to fully grasp what his victim is thinking in situations and takes full
advantage of it to profit him. Othello is an exquisite example of Iago s expertise in the English
language and shows how fatal it can become. In the following lines Othello and Iago are
conversating about the plausible relationships between Cassio and Desdemona:
Othello: O, yes, and went between us very oft.
Iago: Indeed?
Othello: Indeed? ... Is he not honest?
Iago: Honest, my lord?
Othello: Honest, ay, honest.
Iago: My lord, for aught I know.
Othello: What dost thou think?
Iago: Think, my lord?
Othello: Think, my lord?
(act III. sc iii. Ll 100 105)
This short interaction between Iago and Othello is the beginning of Iago implanting the poison of
doubt into Othello s mind. Othello never suspects the loyalty of Desdemona however, Iago destroys
the foundation of this trust by continuously influencing Othello to think about it. He is an expert
when it comes to the complexity of the human mind and it allows him complete insight into Othello
s psyche. In the quotation, Iago is seen constantly questioning Othello. Othello desires an answer
but instead encounters another question. Notice that Iago questions Cassio s devotion to Othello;
the moment Othello brings him up in their conversation: O, yes, and went between us very oft.
Indeed? . Iago is forcing Othello to re evaluate Cassio, thus implanting the seed of doubt into his
mind. Later, the seed is seen sprouting roots because Othello then questions Cassio as to

they lacked many things, they still appreciated what they had, even if it was small. The Middle
Eastern poem Identity Card also shows this theme. My house... made of sticks and reeds (80)
shows the small amount that the Palestinians in the Middle East had and how they were able to
appreciate it before it was all taken away from them. The East Asian poem One Step shows the
theme of admiration as well, however this time it is the appreciation of time. The child has
learned to talk to walls... dotage, only one step away. (146) shows the passing of time and how,
in a blink of an eye, a child would have experienced their whole life and become feeble and old.
This shows the acceptance of the East Asian people that life is quick and their appreciation
towards what they already had. Both East Asia and the Middle East used first person point of view

The Great Depression And The American Dream Essay
The Great Depression was an era in America of economic and social ruin. At the depression s peak,
25% of the population was unemployed and millions of Americans were in poverty (DeClair 9/5
/17). However, the economic and social change that occurred in America due to the Great
Depression were the main muses for American artists of the time (DeClair 9/26/2017). The visual
arts, music, dance, and film contributed to the American identity by displaying and distributing the
new American values that emerged in the Great Depression, and pride and hope for the primarily
impoverished American population. One of the elements of American identity during the Great
Depression was the American Dream, which was the goal for many, yet was seemingly
unattainable. The American Dream, which was popularized by author James Truslow Adams in
1931, became the ideal lifestyle for Americans and typically comprised of a picturesque family in
a clean suburban neighborhood founded on hard work, dedication, community, and faith in the
government (Dickstein 5). This visual can be found in the billboard featured in Margaret Bourke
White s photograph titled Kentucky Flood. The billboard displays a young white family,
including a mother, father, two children, and a dog, driving in a car next to the phrase There s no
way like the American way! This image perfectly depicts the model life that Americans aspired to
live one of stability and independence. However, this photograph openly mocks and

Compare And Contrast The Separation Of America By Thomas...
In the following pages I offer nothing more than simple facts, plain arguments, and common sense...
(Paine, 455), the opening line of a book which changed a nation. The renowned American author
Thomas Paine writes this straightforward sentence with one task in mind, persuade the American
people to declare independence from Britain. Discussing the controversy between the separation of
Englandand the newly formed America s, the author conveys that America must not only isolate
herself from England, but America must also reject a monarchical government. Emphasizing that
Now is the seed time of Continental union, faith and honor, (Paine, 456), Paine stresses the urgency
of the topic, that what is written must come to pass in the near... Show more content on

However, Paine combats all of these notions with well thought out, educated details that sway
those arguments. For example, the idea of England increasing the profitability of America s
trade is addressed by Paine saying, Our plan is commerce and that, well attended to, will secure
us the peace and friendship of all Europe; because it is the interest of all Europe to have America
a free port. Her trade will always be a protection and her barrenness of gold and silver secure her
from invaders. (Paine, 458). Paine s use of the lack of the readers common knowledge allows for a
compelling argument which would enlighten audiences.
The second way Paine structures his argument for independence from Britain is through an
extended metaphor, comparing England and America to a mother and child. Through this
metaphor, Paine illustrates the toxicity of the relationship to the reader in plain language.
Abandoning technical terms and the phrases often used by higher class, educated individuals Paine
keeps the metaphor plain and simple so that everyone can comprehend the message. Paine begins
the metaphor by highlighting the destructive maternal relationship shared by the countries. But
Britain is the parent country, say some. The the more shame upon her conduct. Even brutes do not

Cultural Technology And Its Impact On Western Asia
Cultural proximity is the nationally, rather locally developed content that is related and supports
traditional identities concerning regional, ethnic, language, religion and other cultural components
(Georgiou, 2012).Cultural proximity is related to Confucian which is a common cultural belief in
East Asiathat had been commonly used as a tool to enhance the consumption various idea including
media content in the region. Chua (2004) argument that the commonness in Confucian basis to East

suggests that cultural proximity is not a major tool any more in determining the consumption of
media content within the region. This can be explained by the current trend where everything is
going in the global direction.
With globalization and advancement in technology, local is going global and the global is
attempting to become local or rather regional. In the modern world there are no boundaries for
political, economic and cultural concepts overlap, converge, and collide beyond regional
boundaries not only in the East Asia region but in the entire world. Confucian was utilized by
governments to promote their economies, but people became skeptical like in the case of a

Symbolism In Roald Dahl s Lamb To The Slaughter
The story Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl has many strong examples of literary elements
and writer s craft, most prominently dramatic irony, images, and symbolism. The author s
writing style focuses on many descriptive images. An excellent example of this is in the first
paragraph of the story when the author describes the main character and setting. The room was
warm, and clean, the curtains drawn, the two lamps alight hers and the one by the empty chair
opposite... Mary Maloney was waiting for her husband to come home from work... There was a
slow smiling air about her, and about everything she did. The drop of her head as she bent over
sewing was curiously tranquil. Her skin for this was her sixth month with child had acquired a
wonderful translucent quality, the mouth was soft, and the eyes, with their new placid look,
seemed larger, darker than before (1). This passage describes the comfort and warmth of Mary s
house and shows that this is one of her favorite times of the day, waiting for her husband to come
home. From this description the reader can tell that this is an everyday occurrence and thus gives a
sense of security and normalcy. This also hints that she is extremely loyal and dedicated to her
husband. The passagealso gives a physical description of Mary, making her seem delicate and
innocent, which fuels both the ironyand symbolism later in the story. Foreshadowing also heavily
impacts the storyline of Lamb to the Slaughter. The

Bilingualism Analysis
Bilingualism (go to paper rater) (buy more gum) ( study much) weekend
An ongoing battle of culture, freedom, and language occurs in America today. The battle is
commonly called Bilingualism. The dictionary definition: being able to speak multiple languages.
Though, when you dig deeper, you discover the hunger of differing tongues. Many people believe
bilingualism should have a certain role in the public and education. One of these figures is Martin
Espada, who believe that bilingualism is also respecting one s culture. He believes that more effort
be put into understanding different cultures and languages. An opposing figure to this is poet and
author, Richard Rodriguez, who believes bilingualism should not be emphasized in the public ...

Though the judge didn t care what she had to say. If he were to respect her like a judge should do
she would have been able to defend herself.
Moreover, throughout Rodriguez s essay he tries to to show us that he believes that
bilingualism in the public and schools is not the the priority but to be able to function in society
is. He illustrates this when he finally understands how to speak English. Rodriguez states I
spoke in a loud voice. And I did not think it remarkable when the entire class understood. That
day, I moved very far from the disadvantaged child I had been only days earlier ( 95 98). He calls
himself disadvantaged because before he could not function in the classroom, due to him only
knowing Spanish. But as he learns English he feels as though he can succeed. He also portrays
this when he talks of how there would be other people in his home after school other than his
family. Rodriguez states When I arrived home there would often be neighborhood kids in the house
(132 133). Now that he understands english he has friends. There is no need for him to use
Spanish. As English is what everyone uses to communicate.
These authors provide clear stances on bilingualism. I feel as if it s a great opportunity if you have
the time to learn about another culture and language. The way I view bilingualism in the public and
educational system is that everyone should have the choice to learn a different language. One piece

Ethnocentrism vs. Cultural Relativism
Ethnocentrism and Cultural Relativism
Ethnocentrism and cultural relativism are two contrasting terms that are displayed by different
people all over the world. Simply put, ethnocentrism is defined as judging other groups from the
perspective of one s own cultural point of view. Cultural relativism, on the other hand, is defined as
the view that all beliefs are equally valid and that truth itself is relative, depending on the situation,
environment, and individual. Each of these ideas has found its way into the minds of people
worldwide. The difficult part is attempting to understand why an individual portrays one or the
other. It is a question that anthropologists have been asking themselves for years. ... Show more

From then on, however, anything involving Arabicculture was deemed that of terrorists.
This process does work both ways, however. Citizens of other nations have long made it clear that
they believe Americans are nothing but greedy, power hungry people. I have known several people
that visited France, for example, and were treated as though they did not belong because they were
Americans.
Cultural relativism means the exact opposite of ethnocentrism. It can be summed up as believing
that all religious, ethical, aesthetic, and political beliefs are completely relative to the individual
within a cultural identity (www.cultural relativism.com). This means that there is no definite right
or wrong , but rather an ever changing set of values for each separate culture.
I have not personally witnessed cultural relativism, however I do know that it very well exists. An
example of this idea is in something such as equality in the workplace for both men and women. A
person following the cultural relativist perspective would say that it is wrong to deny women that
equality in the workplace in America today. The cultural relativist would also say, however, that
there is a culture where it is acceptable to limit certain areas of freedom from women.
These two intricate issues will continue to be a part of every society until the end of time. One can

Development of Aggression
Aggression is defined as the overt behavior of initiating hostilities or launching attacks. In
psychology, aggression relates to many different types of behavior. Originally, aggressive
behavior is defined as one person is intended to injure or irritate another people. However, it is
difficult to know or to measure if a person s behavior is intentional, especially in children. Hence,
when researchers carry out studies on aggression, the operational definition of aggression is often
referred to the behavior that injures or irritates another person. Aggression behaviors are caused by
many factors, such as social and environmental. People often associate aggression with the nature of
human. There were two arguments on this nature; one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shaw, Keenan, and Vondra (1994), showed that in the absence of parental responsiveness,
children are likely to develop aggressive behavior at age 3. Bates et al. (1998), also showed that
preschoolers with passive parents tended to have difficulty. By the late childhood, those difficult
preschoolers with passive parents tended to perform aggressive behavior in school.
Reinforcement refers to the contingent response from parents towards children s aggression.
Children who are rewarded for aggression tend to continue such aggressive behavior. On the
other hand, children who are punished for aggression tend to stop such aggressive behavior. A
study if the development and socialization of aggression done by Keenan (2002), revealed a
gender differences on aggression. He demonstrated that rates of aggression were higher in boys
than in girls at the end of the preschool period. Besides, Ross et al. (1990), reported that mothers
of boys were likely to support (reward) their sons when the children were in the peer conflicts.
However, mothers of girls were not likely to support (punishment) their daughters. Hence, the
studies indicate that children are at greater risk of developing aggressive behavior when parents do
not reinforce in an appropriate ways.

Who can understand modern warfare?
War has without a doubt changed extremely from what the term originally meant. Waris already
hard to define, according to Clausewitz, war is an act of force intended to compel our opponents to
fulfil our will... a continuation of political intercourse with a mixture of other means (Michael
Sheehan, 2014, 217). More specifically, war was between countries/states and it involved open
armed conflict. But war cannot be defined like this anymore in our modern times.
With open conflict between nations and non nation organizations, for example the War on
Terrorism, the definition above is no longer fully true. A better definition would be Hedley Bull s,
organised violence carried on by political units against each other (Michael Sheehan, 2014, 218).
Thus if the definition of war and how it s waged in the 21st century changed, theoretical approaches
best suited conceptually and analytically that can explain and understand modern war has also
changed.
Ironically, the theoretical approaches that seem to be best suited to understand and explain modern
war are two of the oldest theoretical theories; Realism and Liberalism. But which of these two is
more applicable; both have their strengths in relation to understanding and explaining modern
conflict, but Liberalism is bar

A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams is a strategically written masterpiece with a
plethora of themes and literary devices establishing it as one of the greatest literary works of its

this relationship would be Stanley, husband of Stella, and Steve, husband of Eunice. These two

advertisements for a payday loan and have thought about getting one. But before you get one of
these short term loans, you need to consider a title loan as an alternative. These types of loans offer
many advantages over payday loans. The following are three of the most significant advantages.
A title loan has lower Interest rates
Because a title loan company is getting security for the loan, they are able to offer lower interest
rates than are seen with payday loans. You must be careful when comparing interest rates of a title

In some instances, you may be able to get one for 30 days, but this is not the norm. A title loan
can be for several months. Because this type of loan is often used in an emergency, you will have
more time to get back on your feet. Financial emergencies often extend beyond a week or two.
You can get larger loans
A title lender will limit the size of a loan to a certain percentage of the value of the car. The exact
percentage will vary from one lender to the next, but this figure will usually be higher than a
payday loan because they are unsecured. The amount that you can get for a payday loan will be
based upon a percentage of your paycheck. Most people will have a car valued at a greater
amount than than their typical paycheck. If this is true for you as well, you will likely be able to
borrow more money with a title lender. A payday loan may not be enough for your needs.
If you have the title of your car and are in need of a quick loan, you should consider getting a title

The method of research we chose was; experiment.
Before we could conduct this experiment we wrote a story in which the protagonist and antagonists
roles were switched around. Meaning, that the perceived protagonist was actually the antagonist
and vise versa. After writing the story we came up with seven questions which corresponded with

best they could, with the exception of the lack of interest in the story, which was mentioned
previously. As far as our method of research goes, it worked out perfectly. If we had done any
other method it might not have worked out as well. For example, a survey would not have been
as accurate as we were aiming for. By doing an experimental project we were able to get the fairly
honest answers from the students. This is mainly because they did not know what we were
experimenting and thus could not alter their answer to meet our demands.
After our experiment was conducted we analysed the data. This data showed us that: 67% of the
grade 3 students continued to believe that tyrone was the protagonist, while only 21% of the
grade 6 students believed tyrone was the protagonist. This is a 46% difference between the
grades. Looking at this data we can see that as our age increases, our opinions of a person being
influenced by our first impression decreases. Or in other words, the Halo effect reduces. These
results can be seen in the following

Criminals Do not Obey Gun Control Laws
In America, the average amount of people shot per year is 100,000; over ten thousand defenseless
people are murdered. The Second Amendment s proclamation that A well regulated Militia, being
necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be
infringed has been an extensive topic of debate. Moreover, the amendment has been one of many
debates over the several years throughout America. The discussion of gun control is often debated
as to whether or not it is morally right to legally bypass the Second Amendment to avoid unlawful
uses of arms. The Second Amendment allows citizens to carry firearms specifically for protection,
gun control hinders that right and places civilians lives in danger. In short, the U.S. government s
intrusive restrictions on gun laws prevent law abiding citizens from defending themselves with
firearms.
The effects of gun control should abide with the Second Amendment. Although true, the Second
Amendment is not an unlimited right to own guns. Notwithstanding, the Second Amendment
allows the freedom to bear arms. The Second Amendment has never been interpreted as giving only
states the right to peaceably assemble. Moreover, the Court did not address whether the Second
Amendment applies to state and local governments. Even though the government chose to limit the
rights of the people, the Second

Good morning/afternoon English teachers. All representations of people and politics are indeed
acts of manipulation as true political agendas must be hidden behind a misleading facade.
Language plays a particularly powerful role in portraying in these political representations.
However ambiguous the political motive may be, control is the ultimate goal in the world of
politics. Contrary to popular belief, not all acts of manipulation are inherently immoral or solely
pragmatic. King Henry IV: Part 1(1596 1597), the second historical play of the Henriad, by William

The portrayal of Prince Hal is exemplary of Shakespeare s use of manipulation to position the
audience to favour a political figure. Initially he sets himself a bad impression to the audience
by being brash and irresponsible. Prince Hal s relationship to Falstaff and company was a tool
for him in order to create for himself a notorious image which he could later shed and expose his
true valor. At the end of Act 1, Scene 2, Hal, through his soliloquy, shows that he has a
completely different perspective on his own actions, conceding that they are unsuitable for a
King but that he is engaging in this behaviour for a clear political purpose. Hal uses the central

of the sun appearing from the clouds, symbolising his glorious rise from his behaviour: Being

Athenian Comedy Way back when, only males were allowed to be in plays. Since there was

Athenian comedy is broken up into three section: Old comedy, New comedy, and Middle comedy.
OLD COMEDY
Old comedy came about in honors of Dionysus. It was based on Fertility riots and political satire.
It was comedy of the 5th century B.C. The only play that was completed from the earliest days was

They joked around about all kinds things that were happening around them. It could be about

The Between Edouard Vuillard s Interior With A Screen (...
The art world has been host to a vast menagerie of talent, intellect, and creativity for about as
long as human culture has existed. It has grown, developed, and changed just as humanity has.
Naturally, with such an impressively expansive history, various avenues of art are visited time
and time again by new artists. Artists seek not only to bring their own personal flavor and
meaning to timeless concepts, but to find new ways to approach them. While not every single

With a Screen (1909 1910) and Henri Matisse s Blue Nude (Souvenir of Biskra) (1907). In this
essay, each artist s approach to the subject of the female nude will be closely analyzed,
compared, and contrasted, as will their styles of painting, handling of visual elements, and their
use of the principles of design. An interpretation of each work and what the artist intended when
creating it will also be provided. The analysis of these paintings will begin with Vuillard s oil
painting Interior With a Screen. This piece depicts a female nude placed in the interior a large and
furnished room; the woman appears to be slightly hunched over

An important part of the identity of these subcultures is clothing. Consumers feelings about their overall economic prospects, as well as the state of mind consumers have about their own personal situation, otherwise known as consumer confidence, helps to determine whether they will save their money, purchase goods and services, or take on debt. It is responsible for consumers changing their furniture, cars, wardrobes, and music. It is important to keep in mind that fashion processes affect all types of cultural phenomena, including all types of products, not just clothing and accessories. Celebrity Endorsements in Fashion For celebrity campaigns to be effective, the endorser must have a clear and popular image. In addition, the celebrity s image and that of the product he or she endorses should be similar, researchers refer to this as the match up hypothesis. • 3. Nontestimonial Hearsay Case Study Q. What factors from Davis suggest that the evidence would be excluded by the Confrontation Clause? Hearsay Hearsay is a statement, other than the one made by the declarant testifying in the court, offered in evidence to prove the truth of the matter asserted. Confrontation Clause Under the Sixth Amendment, Confrontation Clause provides that in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to be confronted with the witnesses against him. Here, we must first determine if the dialog during the 911 call in question establishes a testimonial or nontestimonial hearsay. Nontestimonial hearsay will be subject to the FRE and falls outside of the scope of the Confrontational Clause protection. Therefore, the provision of the Confrontation Clause would be inapplicable. Testimonial Statement Statements are testimonial when the circumstances indicate that there is no ongoing emergency, and that the primary purpose of the interrogation is to establish evidence for the... Also, she stated that she was not physically hurt and didn t need any medical attention. Even though the operator told the victim that the police was on their way to her place, she expressed her wish twice during the call to get the defendant arrested. Her concerns for the defendant s return does not give rise to the situation necessarily deemed to be an emergency. These facts suggest that the purpose of her 911 call was not made in her effort to obtain the police assistance urgently in resolving the danger that she might have been facing at the time of her call. It was rather to document the past event. It was for the purpose of reporting the details of the assault that had occurred just a short moment ago and more particularly for establishing the evidence to arrest ... The tune features the singular verbalization of saxophonist Rich Perry intercalated with orchestral usurpations. The title Reflection was well chosen for a piece that achieves the desired levels of symphonic sophistication through beautiful counterpoints delivered in the form of cries, whispers, and hushed murmurs. I learned more than I expected and have implemented some of these learned lessons towards simple excel calculations into my work at my job. The result of this conversation, had me start thinking about the overall value of my collection for insurance purposes and if I ever sold the collection. After my undergrad was over, I decided to pick up some hobbies and one was to continue my interest in collecting Pokemon cards. When I has very young, Pokemon was my life and I spent most of my time after school playing the video games or collecting the cards. For a brief time in high school, I began to sell my cards and got out of Pokemon altogether. However, once college began, one method that helped me study was watching video game walkthroughs on YouTube. This lead to me watching more Pokemon videos and even into finding two Poketubers (those on YouTube who create videos related to Pokemon) who I follow daily. Some of their videos even had them opening up packs of Pokemon cards which fully got me back into Pokemon. I enjoyed the use of the small kid and her mother in the Greyhound bus as a real life image of what Carrie Anne would love to do for her own child, Winnie. I thought that the paragraph starting, Carrie Anne wanted to make her daughter sandwiches and cut up apples in perfect star shapes. (3) worked well in particular. The reemergence of routine worked well when Carrie Anne comes home such as her going through the back door as visitors only came through the front door as well as the arrangement of the groceries on page 6 in the fridge which signals to her that Winnie is at home. On page 5, when Carrie Anne was in conversation with the cops in front of her family home, I can t imagine her saying out loud that she was in rehab, especially in front of Mrs. Boadean, who she hadn t seen in years and but was still effected by her meanness and with her carefulness in her recovery. Within Carrie Anne and Winnie s conversation in the house, some interiority of how both Carrie Anne and Winnie felt in the exchange would help add more to the situation and Winnie s character development since Carrie Anne s departure. For example, on page 8, when Winnie asks why Carrie Anne is crying, this is the first time she s heard Winnie s voice in a long time. There could be some emotional response, whether externally or internally, or shock. Also, in that exchange, how did Winnie seem to Carrie Anne in her physicality along with her responses? Also, within his conversation, Carrie Anne seems so fluid in her speech when talking to Winnie that I didn t buy at the moment that she was affected by the moment. This is a huge deal to her and all of the guilt and conflict that she has gone through without Winnie. Some inner dialogue within the conversation along with it as well as some slowing down in the pace would help make those more relatable to the moment. Good job and I look forward to your next ... In this case, African countries would be considered as their trading partners of the future, she said. When the UK came out from the European Union, existing relationships with African countries had to be renovated in order to establish new trade and investment links, hence African regions would allow British businesses to arise again. The African oil exports and metals are indispensable for the UK agricultural and manufacturing areas nowadays, and as the UK has more access to African trading market, they also take advantage of an easier access to those natural resources. If the UK supports African economic growth by strengthening their trade agreements, then the UK would increase the living standard of its population. • 12. Critical Analysis Of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken Critical Analysis of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken The speaker in Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken gives the reader insight into human nature with each line of poetry. While, Frost had not originally intended for this to be an inspirational poem, line by line, the speaker is encouraging each reader to seek out his or her own personal path in the journey of life. Romanticizing the rural woods of New England creates the perfect setting for the theme of self discovery laid out and described by the speaker. Robert Frost s original intent in writing the poem was not to convey the inspiration that it has for almost a hundred years. He had written the poem to poke fun at his friend, Edward Thomas, with whom he had taken many walks. Thomas was hesitant and always wondering what would happen if he had chosen a different path (http://www.yoga.com/raw/readings/frost_road.html). In fact, Frost sent the poem to his friend, then in France, and got the response, ?What are you trying to do with me?? (http://www.libarts.sfasu.edu/Frost/PopPoems.html). However, Frost did see the impact the poem was having and stated, Do not follow where the path may lead?Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. The speaker communicates many things in the first stanza of the poem. The first line, ?Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,? uses imagery with the color yellow, the color of gold, to show that the speaker sees an opportunity ahead of him. The two roads symbolizes the choices and consequences he must choose. The next line, ?And sorry I could not travel both,? illustrates how difficult it is to make a choice. It is impossible not to wonder what could happen by choosing the other road and what he could be missing out on. ?And being one traveler long I stood,? shows how the speaker would like to be in two places at once. Unable to accomplish this, he takes a long time to decide on what he should do. Finally, the speaker describes studying the first option, looking as far into the future as he possibly could with the lines, ?And looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth.? The speaker continues to convey his message in the second stanza of ?The Road Not Taken.? In the opening line of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A myth that many college age users like to believe is that there are numerous ways we can speed up the process of becoming sober. These commonly believed methods include, drinking coffee, taking a cold shower or exercising. There is only one way that a drinker can sober up and that is to let the liver breakdown the alcohol. This process can differ in people depending on their individual rate of metabolism, but overall this is a slow process that requires a significant amount of time and cannot be sped up by outside means. Another commonly accepted myth and one that is often encouraged is that drinking hard liquor will get you drunk faster than drinking beer. In fact, the amount of alcohol in one beer is equal to the amount of alcohol in one shot of hard liquor, (U.S. Department of Health, 1977). Although many of these myths would be beneficial to our drinking experiences, they are all in fact false and users of alcohol must be aware of them. Throughout the history of the house several of the occupants are known to have died within the premises of the property, thus contributing to it s reputation of being haunted. In our investigation of the Monterey house we spent two nights in the house gathering various types of data to aid us in our attempt to discover what theoryof haunting is consistent with the experiences within the house. The experiences within the house can be explained through several different theories... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They might be unaware of the priming and the bias caused by following or trying to repeat the results of another. In addition to the dowsing hits, the psychological theory of explanation is also supported by the reports of hearing voices that are not actually there. This can be attributed to a lack of sleep causing hallucinations, fueled by a self fulfilling prophecy, like purposefully looking for a specific piece of evidence in your data until you find it, and can even be attributed to hearing damage or impairment due to health problems or old age. Another possible explanation for the hauntings can be seen with deja vu, or the experiencing of intense familiarity with something in the present environment that leads you to believe you have experienced it before. An exemplification of this theory can be seen when Robin experienced feelings of familiarity while listening to a song during one of the vigils, but could not place where she had heard it before. One of the most notable ways in which the struggles of these groups are documented and exemplified is through literature. Sexual orientation, and more specifically homosexuality, is a prominent point of controversy within the world of fiction writing, as well as through the nonfictional history of various societies. Sarah Waters Affinityis a prime example of how history and fiction can intertwine. Waters wrote this novel in the 1990 s, but set it in London during the Victorian Era. In order to create a realistic narrative, Waters had to ensure that it was historically accurate, even down to the societal impact of Margaret s sexual preferences. Though it was not overtly discussed, the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries marked the era in which ...homosexuality in its modern form truly began to emerge (Willett 351). From the start of Affinity, Margaret s emotional and psychological flaws are exposed through her diary. She also reveals details about her relationship with Helen, which ultimately foreshadows the outcome of her future romantic relationships. • 19. Iago And Iago In William Shakespeare s Othello Humans do not recognize the devastating destruction that words are capable of having when in the right hands. The play Othello, written by William Shakespeare, demonstrates the conceivable power that dwells within words through the character Iago. The character, Iago, has a complete understanding of his victims nature down to their essence. In addition, because he does not have any core beliefs or morals, Iagogains the ability to ultimately change his faith and principals. In short, the biggest factor that contributes to Iago s successful manipulation is his ability to carefully select words in the language. Iago understands his companions to the very core by having complete knowledge of their behavior and beliefs. He is able to fully grasp what his victim is thinking in situations and takes full advantage of it to profit him. Othello is an exquisite example of Iago s expertise in the English language and shows how fatal it can become. In the following lines Othello and Iago are conversating about the plausible relationships between Cassio and Desdemona: Othello: O, yes, and went between us very oft. (act III. sc iii. Ll 100 105) This short interaction between Iago and Othello is the beginning of Iago implanting the poison of doubt into Othello s mind. Othello never suspects the loyalty of Desdemona however, Iago destroys the foundation of this trust by continuously influencing Othello to think about it. He is an expert when it comes to the complexity of the human mind and it allows him complete insight into Othello s psyche. In the quotation, Iago is seen constantly questioning Othello. Othello desires an answer but instead encounters another question. Notice that Iago questions Cassio s devotion to Othello; the moment Othello brings him up in their conversation: O, yes, and went between us very oft. Indeed? . Iago is forcing Othello to re evaluate Cassio, thus implanting the seed of doubt into his mind. Later, the seed is seen sprouting roots because Othello then questions Cassio as to ... At the depression s peak, 25% of the population was unemployed and millions of Americans were in poverty (DeClair 9/5 /17). However, the economic and social change that occurred in America due to the Great Depression were the main muses for American artists of the time (DeClair 9/26/2017). The visual arts, music, dance, and film contributed to the American identity by displaying and distributing the new American values that emerged in the Great Depression, and pride and hope for the primarily impoverished American population. One of the elements of American identity during the Great Depression was the American Dream, which was the goal for many, yet was seemingly unattainable. The American Dream, which was popularized by author James Truslow Adams in 1931, became the ideal lifestyle for Americans and typically comprised of a picturesque family in a clean suburban neighborhood founded on hard work, dedication, community, and faith in the government (Dickstein 5). Her trade will always be a protection and her barrenness of gold and silver secure her from invaders. (Paine, 458). Paine s use of the lack of the readers common knowledge allows for a compelling argument which would enlighten audiences. • 29. The Nature Of Armed Conflict The nature of armed conflict in the 21st century Josh Camara 1227345 Pol 2I03 Dr. Mark Busser Friday November 7, 2014 Pol 2I03 Josh camara 1227345 2014 11 05 Who can understand modern warfare? War has without a doubt changed extremely from what the term originally meant. Waris already hard to define, according to Clausewitz, war is an act of force intended to compel our opponents to fulfil our will... a continuation of political intercourse with a mixture of other means (Michael Sheehan, 2014, 217). More specifically, war was between countries/states and it involved open armed conflict. But war cannot be defined like this anymore in our modern times. With open conflict between nations and non nation organizations, for example the War on Terrorism, the definition above is no longer fully true. A better definition would be Hedley Bull s, organised violence carried on by political units against each other (Michael Sheehan, 2014, 218). Thus if the definition of war and how it s waged in the 21st century changed, theoretical approaches best suited conceptually and analytically that can explain and understand modern war has also changed. Ironically, the theoretical approaches that seem to be best suited to understand and explain modern war are two of the oldest theoretical theories; Realism and Liberalism. But which of these two is more applicable; both have their strengths in relation to understanding and explaining modern conflict, but Liberalism is bar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Streetcar Named Desire Foil A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams is a strategically written masterpiece with a plethora of themes and literary devices establishing it as one of the greatest literary works of its time. Not unlike most literary works, Williams uses many minor characters to emphasize the characteristics and qualities of major characters. This technique is known as a foil. An example of this relationship would be Stanley, husband of Stella, and Steve, husband of Eunice. These two couples live in a small apartment with almost no privacy from one another. Biopure had developed Hemopure , a blood substitute for humans, and an ancillary product Oxyglobin for the veterinary market1. Hemopure was still in the process of gaining Federal Drug Administration (FDA) approval , while Oxyglobin had already been approved and was ready to be launched1. When considering the marketing mix we must look at the various products in the portfolio of Biopure. There is a dilemma because one of Biopure s products is approved and the other is not. The impact of deciding to launch Oxyglobin initially and having to wait to release Hemopure has an impact on the overall financial situation of the company as well as its competitive position within the market. The other challenge that Biopure had is to decide how to price Oxyglobin should they release it to the market. If Biopure adopts competition based pricing111 as suggested by some of the sales team, the price sensitive nature of the veterinary market means that a price of $80 $100 per unit is considered to be optimal4. Despite this, research shows that Biopure can adopt a customer based approach, or value based pricing111. In critical cases, vets are willing to pay up to $150 per unit 80% of the time and pet owners are willing to pay up to $300/unit 75% of the time12. Before we could conduct this experiment we wrote a story in which the protagonist and antagonists roles were switched around. Meaning, that the perceived protagonist was actually the antagonist and vise versa. After writing the story we came up with seven questions which corresponded with the above story. As far as our method of research goes, it worked out perfectly. If we had done any other method it might not have worked out as well. For example, a survey would not have been as accurate as we were aiming for. By doing an experimental project we were able to get the fairly honest answers from the students. This is mainly because they did not know what we were experimenting and thus could not alter their answer to meet our demands. After our experiment was conducted we analysed the data. This data showed us that: 67% of the grade 3 students continued to believe that tyrone was the protagonist, while only 21% of the grade 6 students believed tyrone was the protagonist. This is a 46% difference between the grades. Looking at this data we can see that as our age increases, our opinions of a person being influenced by our first impression decreases. Or in other words, the Halo effect reduces. These results can be seen in the following ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Second Amendment s proclamation that A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed has been an extensive topic of debate. Moreover, the amendment has been one of many debates over the several years throughout America. The discussion of gun control is often debated as to whether or not it is morally right to legally bypass the Second Amendment to avoid unlawful uses of arms. The Second Amendment allows citizens to carry firearms specifically for protection, gun control hinders that right and places civilians lives in danger. In short, the U.S. government s intrusive restrictions on gun laws prevent law abiding citizens from defending themselves with firearms. The effects of gun control should abide with the Second Amendment. Although true, the Second Amendment is not an unlimited right to own guns. Notwithstanding, the Second Amendment allows the freedom to bear arms. The Second Amendment has never been interpreted as giving only states the right to peaceably assemble. All representations of people and politics are indeed acts of manipulation as true political agendas must be hidden behind a misleading facade. Language plays a particularly powerful role in portraying in these political representations. However ambiguous the political motive may be, control is the ultimate goal in the world of politics. Contrary to popular belief, not all acts of manipulation are inherently immoral or solely pragmatic. King Henry IV: Part 1(1596 1597), the second historical play of the Henriad, by William Shakespeare, provides insight into these ideas as his own work is as such a representation of people and politics of the Elizabethan Era, two hundred years before his own time.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The portrayal of Prince Hal is exemplary of Shakespeare s use of manipulation to position the audience to favour a political figure. Initially he sets himself a bad impression to the audience by being brash and irresponsible. Prince Hal s relationship to Falstaff and company was a tool for him in order to create for himself a notorious image which he could later shed and expose his true valor. At the end of Act 1, Scene 2, Hal, through his soliloquy, shows that he has a completely different perspective on his own actions, conceding that they are unsuitable for a King but that he is engaging in this behaviour for a clear political purpose. Hal uses the central metaphor of the sun in his speech: Yet herein will I imitate the sun (1.2.157) and creating imagery of the sun appearing from the clouds, symbolising his glorious rise from his behaviour: Being wanted, he may be more wondered at/By breaking through the foul and ugly mists (1.2.161 62). He ends with a rhyming couplet I ll so offend, to make offence a skill,/ Redeeming time when men think least I will (1.2.176 77). • 42. The Between Edouard Vuillard s Interior With A Screen (... The art world has been host to a vast menagerie of talent, intellect, and creativity for about as long as human culture has existed. It has grown, developed, and changed just as humanity has. Naturally, with such an impressively expansive history, various avenues of art are visited time and time again by new artists. Artists seek not only to bring their own personal flavor and meaning to timeless concepts, but to find new ways to approach them. While not every single creator and craftsman can make such a great impact on art or the world, their efforts have given birth to some truly magnificent and unique works. In an effort to create a more meaningful understanding, as well a deeper appreciation, of the nuances, techniques, and design choices employed in these attempts, a comparison will be made between Edouard Vuillard s Interior With a Screen (1909 1910) and Henri Matisse s Blue Nude (Souvenir of Biskra) (1907). In this essay, each artist s approach to the subject of the female nude will be closely analyzed, compared, and contrasted, as will their styles of painting, handling of visual elements, and their use of the principles of design. An interpretation of each work and what the artist intended when creating it will also be provided. The analysis of these paintings will begin with Vuillard s oil painting Interior With a Screen.
