Solving the Foreclosure Crisis Essay
The Foreclosure Crisis is the direct effect of the mortgage crisis that became apparent in 2007, so
in order to solve the current crisis we must tackle the cause, not just the symptoms. The issue at the
heart of the mortgage crisis is that in most cases the cost of the mortgage has risen above the
market value of the home, trapping the homeowner. To solve the crisis both in the short term and to
prevent similar crises in the long term, steps must be taken to achieve two broad goals: make
mortgages affordable by regulating mortgages and mortgageproviders and lowering interest rates,
and stabilize the market value of homes by increasing demand and decreasing supply.
In the past, governmental regulations on banks and mortgage lenders ... Show more content on

These actions will protect debtors from unjust rates and will ultimately protect creditors from
defaults on their loans.
The next essential regulatory act is to limit the size of mortgages. A regulation should be put in
place that prohibits the granting of a mortgage that is over 100% of the market value of house. In
the past, when house prices were rising it seemed safe to take out a mortgage higher than the value
of a house, but that is a root cause of all mortgage crises. The economy naturally grows and shrinks
and so does the market value of a house. When mortgages represent more than the market value of
the collateral and the value of the house drops, homeowners cannot sell their house for the
equivalent of the principal and if the homeowner cannot make payments, foreclosure or bankruptcy
are the only options. This clearly limits the lenders, but it is a necessary regulation to protect
lenders from losing money. In the case of a foreclosure in which the mortgage is worth more than
the collateral, the lender suffers the difference and risks its own bankruptcy. While this regulation
may seem to hurt lenders, truly it protects them.
Debtors who are close to foreclosure should have further rights protected by law. In the case where
a debtor cannot make their monthly payments due to financial situations beyond their control, they
should have the right to renegotiate for lower payments through

The Mathematical Theory Of Communication In Thomas...
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, entropy can be defined as the degree of disorder or
uncertainty in a system. In his novel, The Crying of Lot 49, Thomas Pynchon manipulates the
definition of the scientific term entropy to manifest the innate chaos and disorder in both a closed
thermodynamic system and in the life of the protagonist: Oedipa Maas. In the novel, Oedipa Maas
explores entropywith respect to the thermodynamic sorting of molecules in Maxwell s Demon, and
the communication information regarding the Tristero . According to Warren Weaver s, Recent
Contributions to The Mathematical Theory of Communication, there are technical, semantic, and
effectiveness problems that may distort the accuracy of communication,... Show more content on

Since entropy prospers in closed environments much like Oedipa s life at the beginning of the
novel, Pynchon develops the idea that the chaos in Oedipa s life is subject to increase with the
discovery of more information pointing to the existence of Tristero. This overload of information
Oedipa experiences serves as a roadblock to her understanding of the true meaning behind the
Tristero. According to Warren Weaver, the entropy in the channel is determined both by what one
attempts to feed into the channel and by the capabilities of the channel to handle different signal
situations (Weaver, 10). Thus, when Oedipa is fed copious amounts of symbols, words, and
theories, she finds it hard to handle sorting what is real and unreal. This confusion that Oedipa
endures is a direct consequence of the noise created by different people, symbols, and word that
disrupt Oedipa s deciphering of the Tristero. Warren Weaver comments on this noise seen in Claude
Shannon s communication transmission model, stating that, If noise is introduced, then the
received message contains certain distortions...that would certainly lead one to say that the received
message exhibits, because of the effects of the noise, an increased uncertainty... If the information
source has any residual uncertainty...then this must be undesirable uncertainty due to noise (Weaver,
11). This undesirable uncertainty due to noise leads

Analysis Of Hotel California By The Eagles
I have always enjoyed music with strong, meaningful lyrics so this option was the obvious choice
for my final. I find myself constantly listening to music and have listened to Hotel California by
The Eagles more times than I can count, making it another obvious choice for me. Although, when
reading through the lyrics the first time, I realized that I had never understood the song meaning
and the theme it is intended to portray. It was interesting to read through it with my own, as
opposed to hearing the tone it receives when listening to the song. Not having the music helped me
understand the meaning of the lines better, letting the words sink in instead of them being sung
quickly and then gone.
Hotel California takes on a relatively free form when analyzed as poetry. It contains a mostly
consistent rhyme pattern throughout using an A,A,B,B,C,C series, as many songs do. However,
the meter of the song is less structured and has more variance throughout the stanzas. Each can
carry different numbers of syllables than the one before, depending on the part of the song. This is
where the work loses its formality and is taken as free verse. When reading through, the lyrics carry
even more similar traits than those we look for when analyzing modern poetry including, general
theme and figurative language.
The theme of the song is rather interesting and I have heard many different theories about the
meaning when discussing it with peers over the years. One of the thoughts is

Chastity In The Canterbury Tales
Through the union of thirty four pilgrims on their journey to Canterbury for absolution, Chaucer
pens the tales and interactions of the pilgrims of various ranks and ecclesiastic affiliation. He
negotiates a social hierarchy different from that of the current governing structure through his acute
understanding of the behaviors, beliefs, and pretenses that cemented such order. Chaucer s
microcosm of caricaturized hierarchies criticizes the current social order defining the late 1300s,
exposes the decadence of the disintegrating social structure, and hints at his idyllic version of a
more correct institution. To understand Chaucer s lampoonery, it is imperative to understand the
current rankings and privilege from whence he came. Born to a... Show more content on

When the supporting cast of women effort for mastery over their husbands; they abandon it the
moment they attain it. In an era where chastity was expected and cherished, the Wife of Bath
presents a refreshing alternative to such concepts. She boasts of her sexual proclivity and
contends that male genitalia serves a greater purpose than simply urination. Her freeness in
indulging in sexual activity and her multiple spouses speaks to her inner confidence and lack of
privacy. Her character discusses the power relations between men and women and posits that
women desire domination and control over men ( The Wife of Bath s Tale , 229); however, the
domination that they crave is surface level in that women relapse into their subordinate stereotypes
once they have been granted such control. In an analogous vein, the Nun s Priest Tale offers a
varied stance from feminist s push for coexisting powers if not complete domination. When
Chanticleer confides in his dear Pertelote about his premonition, she dismisses his qualms and
accuses him of cowardice. Her desire for a courageous mate parallels men s objectification of
women and exposes the equally one dimensional consideration given to

Similarities In Narratives In Romantic Operas
To discover similarities in narratives in Romantic operas, I defer to Ernest Newman and George
Upton, who are professional music analysts. Newman has written multiple publications on the
great operas of Don Giovanni, Figaro, Turandot, and others. In his book The Wagner Operas, he
analyzes nine of Wagner s operas (Mastersingers of Nuremburg, The Valkyrie, Seigfired and
Parsifial among others). A common theme in many of Wagner s operas is that they involve the
supernatural, and this is in agreement with the immense drama of the Romantic era operas. For
example, in The Flying Dutchman, a phantom ship appears and a ghostly Dutchman (as the title
suggests) requests the marriage of a sailor s daughter to redeem himself (Newman, 1963).
Upton, has compiled plots and music of modern operas into a book published in 1926 as an
addendum to his Standard Handbooks on Music. One of the operas he summarizes is that of
Gioacchino Rossini s William Tell. The death of a herdsman s daughter at the hands of a tyrant s
follower results in the request to Tell to protect the herdsman. In a square, Tell refuses so succumb
to the tyrant s wishes and is jailed. The herdsman rounds up a rescue squad to help him and
succeeds. This is a divergence from the Wagnerian obsession with the supernatural, but is still an
excellent example of Romantic opera(Upton, 1926).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jacobs (an author for the master musician s series of texts), has done extensive research on
Wagner s life; yet the scope of this particular text required the omission of all except the major
events in Wagner s life, so this text is not a comprehensive biography of every event that happened

Dichotomy In The Exorcist
The Exorcist In this essay I will be talking about the symbols and their meanings and dichotomies
found in the exorcist, as well as some elements of horror I found in the film and my own opinion
about the film.
The film was directed by William Friedkin and it is based on the novel The Exorcist from 1971.
this film The Exorcist is about a mother who is an actor and her daughter who unfortunately has
been possessed by the devil himself. It follows them and how the mother is trying to help her and
that after trying everything she gets to priests to perform an exorcism on her and she is then rid of
the monster.
Dichotomy is when a seemingly harmless thing is portrayed as the opposite. One dichotomy in the
film is Regan. Regan is a dichotomy because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for why the effects were like that I have a feeling it is because they were made quite a while
back so that our knowledge of special effects and our ability to make effects has grown greatly.
As for the long and boring scenes that is probably because in the 1970s they were practicing with
new styles of filming. At the point in the film where Karras meets a possessed Regan to judge
her level of how possessed she was and throws holy water at her. Later he said it was only tap
water, this confused me because I do not get why the devil would react in way that seemed like
he was harmed by the water towards the tap water. A reason that could have been is because
according to Damien Karras, the demon s reaction to the tap water could mean that the possession
is not genuine. This would therefore weaken his case for an exorcism. So, it could be that the
demon was deliberately reacting to the tap water so Karras would not get permission to perform
the exorcism. Overall I thought that the film was pretty well acted and even though the effects
were bad I was still really

Essay On German Americans After Ww2
During the First World War, the American government encouraged suspicion of German Americans.
The government was at pains to discourage hostility towards Islamic Americans. The land of your
ancestors could have been an enemy of the United States. There are also many different Arab states,
and most are allies of the United States, while only a very few are sympathetic to terrorism. Ever
since the 9/11 terrorist attack, the United States started being more careful as to who to trust. The
United States started to wonder who is really loyal to them, Islamics is being judged and so are the

blamed the Arab Islamic, while other Americans blamed every Arab Islamic and Germans. The
Americans did indeed go to war with the Germans, Germany in general, and it was very
heartbreaking. I think that the majority of the Germans didn t even want a war to go on against
the United States. Most Americans took the issues and complications, creating anger and hatred
towards the Germans, creating rumors about them who were actually innocent. Both Germans,
Arabs and Islams gone through discrimination after the tragedy. Many Americans who lost their
loved ones grew hatred towards the Germans, Arabs, or Islams. Even though they were innocent,
no one seemed to believe them. Businesses and shops that were owned by the Germans, Arabs,

it was either a whole country or a whole religion s fault, no one bothered to listen to those who

religion. Those who created these posters, used a number of frightening images towards German

Exegetical Study on Corinthians
Exegetical study on: 1 Corinthians 14:1 6 Principles of Biblical Interpretation Dr. Dale Hutchcraft
10/23/09 Alex Sullins The passage that I chose to exegete is 1 Corinthians 14:1 6, the main idea of
this passage is for the apostle Paul to confront the Corinthian church in Corinth about their misuse
of the spiritual gifts, namely the use of tongues. The following is a full outline of the passage with
the main point of each verse, it goes as follows: 1 Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts,
but especially that you may prophesy. Paul starts out this verse strongly with the word pursue and
earnestly showing the importance he is putting on pursuing the spiritual gifts. He stresses the
importance though of the gift... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The NT understands prophecy to be a divine and inspired message from God. This word has
several meanings: a) To proclaim the revelation, the message of God, imparted to the prophet. b)
Prophecy can have a special sense to foretell or proclaim future events. c) Prophecy can also
mean to bring to light by prophetic speech something concealed. d) In Paul the word denotes
teaching, admonishing, and comforting (1 Cor. 14:3) e) In Acts 19:6 it shows that prophecy is
used to inspire and ecstatic magnifying God (Acts 10:46) (Kittel). Only Paul speaks of the gift
of prophecy, in some instances as in 1 Th. 5:20 it is not clear whether the reference is to the
prophetic gift or the prophetic saying (Friedrich). Verse 2 Verse 2 explains that the misuse of
tongues was one of Corinthians major problems in their exercises of their spiritual gifts during
worship (Blomberg). When speaking in tongues they felt enlarged and elevated, their whole being
was for a time expanded by this emotion (Exell). These gifts are all used by the spirit, in
understanding these gifts it is essential to understand what the spirit is. In Jewish thought the spirit
denotes the power that humans experience that relates them to the spiritual realm, the realm that
lies beyond human control (TDNT). The human spirit is the aspect of a person that God most
immediately encounters him or her (Rom. 8:16) the spirit is also referred to as the

cleverly placed in the film so that their symbolism is both recognizable and utilitarian. Overall, the

The Effects Of Stress And On Stress
When people hear the words life and stress together in the same sentence the words alone may
already be causing some to acquire more stress. Stress is very common and known by every
living thing and can play a huge role in our lives. We have all experienced stress in some type of
form. It is a very unpleasant state of emotional and physiological arousal that people experience in
situations that are dangerous or threatening. It may also vary by its definition because it may mean
something slightly different to one person then it does to the other. Stress is not always categorized
in the same degree. It can be measured differently depending on age and the situation/event. Some

There are many illnesses that can be caused by certain stressful life events such as: obesity,
diabetes, depression, anxiety, aging and Alzheimer s disease.
Conducting the Research This research was conducted by Holmes and Rahe and it compiled of
43 life events that majority of people feel that cause more stress than others. The events ranged
from minor everyday changes one may face in their life to chaotic and disastrous events. As a
reference point they assigned marriage with the arbitrary number of 500 and told the patients to
gauge their responses using that value. If an event called for a higher amount of stress and
change in one s life than the value would be higher and if it was less stress than the value would
be lower. For this research, The Social Readjustment Rating Scale was used. This scale was
created by Holmes and Rahe in the late 1960 s to measure the common stressors of everyday
events. This scale was used to determine the value of stress in a certain event. To use the scale the
individual being tested would have to add up all the values for the listed life events that were
correlated with the individual, and if the event happened multiple times within the past 12 months
then the event would be multiplied by the number of times it occurred. Every life stress event
listed on the scale has an assigned value which are referred to as life change units (LCU s). These
life change units reflect the amount of

Blood Imagery In Macbeth
Corruption of the mind often leads people to their ultimate downfall, and sometimes they become
too far gone to correct. Shakespeare wrote many tragic plays, but Macbeth is by far the bloodiest
play written to this day. This becomes evident with Shakespeare s use of blood to portray the
advancements of mental disease. Macbethbegins the playas Lord of Glamis, with Lady Macbeth as
his lady, and a sincere love for each other, and each other s power. As the plot continues we follow
these characters as their previous lives disintegrate through their horrendous acts in need of power.
In Macbeth, William Shakespeare uses blood imagery to convey Macbeth and Lady Macbeth s
character development. Macbeth, Macbeth s tragic hero, goes through a terrible... Show more

After Macbeth murders Duncan, he confides in his wife he fears that he will never be rid of his
guilt, to which Lady Macbeth replies, A little water clears us of this deed (II.ii.65). She calms
down her husband by telling him, that no one will know what they have done and they will
easily be rid of their guilt. She remains calm and level headed even though her husband just
committed a murder, which could mean the death of both of them if someone discovers their
deed. She believes that the blood on their hands can easily wash away, and there will be no
evidence of their part in the murder. Later on in the play, the audience sees that she no longer
has a sense of equanimity, but appears frigid and paranoid. The Doctor and Gentlewoman see
Lady Macbeth sleepwalking, and she rubs her hands while saying: Out, damned spot! Out, I say!
(V.i.30). Lady Macbeth looks like a mad woman, who hallucinates due to the guilt she bares.
Shakespeare implies that the stain Lady Macbeth struggles to get off of her hands comes from
the blood spilled from murders she helped commit. If earlier a little bit of water could wash away
the blood of the kings murder, then evidently the murders are piling up, and the amount of blood
on her hands seems uncontrollable, and she can no longer clean up her husband s mess.
Shakespeare morphs Lady Macbeth from acting calm and level headed to behaving insecure and
paranoid through the use of blood

Theme Of Human Nature In King Lear
Human nature is a concept that has interested scholars throughout history and brought debate over
what human nature truly is. Shakespeare explores the issue of human nature in his tragedy King
Lear by attempting to portray human nature as entirely good or evil. He seems to suggest, however,
that it is not impossible for one to move from one end of the spectrum of human nature to the other,
as multiple characters go through somewhat of a metamorphosis where their nature is changed.
Shakespeare present an account of human nature in King Learas the foundation of the tragedy King
Lear. In this play, there is a noticeable difference between the natural way in which humans want
to act against what is considered natural in society. Elements of society cause the characters to be
able to justify unnatural actions. Shakespeare thoroughly laces this play with the concept of
humans are neither good nor evil by nature. It is clear from the beginning of King Lear that
Cordelia has an entirely good nature, she remains constant throughout the play, never wavering
in her morals. The play begins with Lear deciding that he will have his daughters compete for
their divisions of his kingdoms based on which of them can impress him the most with their
proclamations of love. Cordelia, however, cannot express her love for her father in words, and
refuses to deceive him by doing otherwise, stating that she is sure [her] love s more richer than
[her] tongue (278 80). She realizes that by holding her tongue she is infuriating her father, but
her nature cannot allow her to do otherwise. When King Lear asks her what she has to say, she
states Nothing, my lord. This shows Cordelia s inherent good nature by doing what is right in a
tough situation. Lear s lack of understanding of the natural bond between parents and their
children leads him to his eventual demise. He is easily mislead by the other sisters, Goneril and
Regan s fake natural behavior when they give their long speeches in order to try and flatter him.
Eventually the daughters or as Lear calls them Pelican daughters (75) throw him out of his house
as soon as they have obtained power. However, they are still unsure whether he will try and take it
back. They come to

Self Reflection On Teaching And Learning
I believe a successful learning experience is engaging and valued by the students. I believe
students will value what they are learning if they believe what they re learning is relevant.
Relevance is important to teaching and learning because it is directly related to student
engagement and motivation (Frymier Schulman, 1995; Martin Dowson, 2009). Marsh (2008),
states a positive classroom environment provides a sense of security, community, belonging and
identity (Marsh, 2008). Based on my experience as a practicing teacher, I have found establishing
clear expectations within the classroom assist in maintaining control and discipline, to create a
safe learning environment (Fatt Hee, 1996). I believe within all classrooms, students diversity
should be valued. This creates a discrimination free environment and ensures students feel safe
and included (Philips, 2010). According to Stanford Parkay (2007) students are more engaged in
class when learning experiences are satisfying, challenging and friendly. There is no one size fits
all teaching strategy for all students. Therefore teachers must use a variety of teaching strategies to
cater for a variety of different learners (Gill, 2013). It is important for teachers to regularly evaluate
their practices and whether they are meeting the learning needs of all students (Zeichner Liston,
1987). Self evaluation can assist teachers to improve the educational experiences provided for
students and assist in identifying the professional education you need to further develop your
capacity to teach well (Schwartz, n.d.). As a future teacher developing learning programs, teaching,
assessing, providing feedback on student learning and reporting to parents/carers are skills I must
be proficient in. Standard 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning On my most

higher material expectations (De Graaf, Wann, Naylor); however, this proves to be uncorroborated
on account of size patterns, the consumers reasons for purchasing, and the types of amenities
available. Although SUVs are popular large cars, they shouldn t be used as the exclusive example
of every modern vehicles size. They symbolize just one data... Show more content on

Subcompact cars and microcars such as the Volkswagen Beetle or the legendary Smart Car, pertain
to size trends in vehicles supplementing the pattern. They have existed for years, steadily
proliferating in popularity. This demonstrates a contradiction to the testimony of growing vehicle
size.
Despite the desire for small cars traveling through the population, the demand for large cars is not
likely to curtail, though not on account of high expectations. Lots of room is one benefit of
buying a larger car. This is advantageous for families, especially ones who travel and need room
for luggage. Gas mileage is the most eminent factor. The comfort and roominess of a station wagon
exists in a SUV accompanied by the benefits of modern cars, including fuel efficiency. This was
important during the energy crisis of the 70 s and is still important today with the ever growing
gas prices (De Graas, Wann, Naylor). Safety brings up another benefit of driving a larger vehicle.
In the case of a wreck, large vehicles usually fare better just because of their sheer size. Buyers
typically prefer safety in their vehicle opting to purchase a larger vehicle.
Accompanying reasonability, the fact that expensive cars can be a status symbol does play a role
in the consumers decision; however, people have bought expensive things to flaunt since currency
has existed. The only people who bought expensive cars for looks were wealthy adults. Most

Police Brutality And The Police As An Institution, And...
The study of ethics in policing has expanded considerably over the past few years as cases of
police brutality and corruption have surfaced in the media and in the courtroom. Commentators
agree that three issues have shaped the role of ethics in policing: styles of policing, the police as an
institution, and policeculture. Banks, C. (2013). Criminal justice ethics: Theory and practice.

Leadership And Team Effectiveness Of Team Success
Leadership and Team Effectiveness Team success is a result of highly synchronized and efficient
groups who strives to reach a common goal. It is rare and undependable for a team to naturally be
successful without leadership. Leadership provides mission, vision, and values for a team.
Leadership also helps establish positive norms within a team s working environment. There are two
leadershiptheories presented in this course which, among the various theories, can play an
important role in effective tem management and composition as well as contribute to an effective
team (Bien, 2016). These two theories include the Management/Leadership Grid and Transactional
Theory. The Management/Leadership Grid and Transactional Theory both have the ability to
positively impact teams and how they behave. This essay will review these two leadership theories,
their relationship to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality assessment, and how
transactional leadership and sound team leadership are the best approaches to effective teams. It
will also discuss team performance, identity, evaluation, reward, working relationship and conflict
associated with these two theories. First we must get a better understanding of these two leadership
theories.

An Accidental Man Made Disaster
A disaster is a highly disruptive event that causes suffering, hardship, injury, and even death
(Anderson McFarlane, 2015). A disaster can cause interruptions in businesses, and can cause
partial or total destruction to infrastructure, such as homes or hospitals (Anderson McFarlane,
2015). A disaster can cause downed power lines, loss of transportation, loss of food, and
sanitation problems. Disasters are caused by naturally occurring events or man made events.
Examples of naturally occurring disasters are earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes.
Man made disasters are accidental, unintentional, or deliberately caused (Anderson McFarlane,
2015). An accidental man made disaster example would be a toxic spill, or a nuclear power
plant event. A deliberately caused man made disaster would be a terrorist attack, school
violence, or a bombing. Certain types of natural disasters are more likely to occur in certain
areas than others. For instance, areas along the coastline are more likely to experience a
hurricane than areas more inland. Every place one can live is prone to having a natural disaster
occur. Also, a man made disaster can happen anywhere; no place is safe from the threat of
terrorism. In my community of Mt. Lebanon, the biggest natural disaster that has happened was
flooding. About fifteen years ago, Mt. Lebanon had a terroristic attack. The terroristic attack was a
deliberate man made disaster. A man went on a racially motivated crime spree, killing five

Different Types of Sensors and Their Applications
Capacitive Sensors
Capacitive sensors use an array capacitor plates to image the fingerprint. Skin is conductive
enough to provide a capacitive coupling with an individual capacitive element on the array.
Ridges, being closer to the detector, have a higher capacitance and valleys have a lower
capacitance. Some capacitive sensors apply a small voltage to the finger to enhance the signal and
create better image contrast.
Capacitive sensors can be sensitive to electrostatic discharge (shock) but they are insensitive to
ambient lighting and are more resist contamination issues than some optical designs.
Optical Sensors
Optical sensors use arrays of photodiode or phototransistor detectors to convert the energy in light
incident on the detector into electrical charge. The sensor package usually includes a light emitting
diode (LED) to illuminate the finger.
There are two detector types used by optical sensors, charge coupled devices (CCD) and CMOS
based optical imagers. CCD detectors are sensitive to low light levels and are capable of making
excellent grayscale pictures. However, CCD fabrication is relatively expensive and neither low
light sensitivity or grayscale imaging are required for fingerprint recognition. CMOS optical
imagers are manufactured in quantity and can be made with some of the image processing steps
built into the chip resulting in a lower cost.
Optical sensors for fingerprints may be affected by a number of real world factors such as stray

Marie Gullemine Benoist Essay
Adoring one of the walls upstairs in the San Diego Museum of Art in the Balboa Park is a
neoclassical masterpiece crafted by French born artist Marie Guillemine Benoist. This Oil
painting, done on canvas, shows encased in a wreathed and rustic bronze frame woven in fertile
vines bearing fruit. With the respectful dimensions of 100.33 cm (39.5 in.) length and 81.6 cm
(32.13 in.) width, and hanging slightly above eye level it is easy to behold the bold and obvious
detailing of the beautiful young women it portrays. However as visually stunning as this painting
may be, the real beauty can be found in the history, controversy, and significance this work conceals
in secret.
Marie Gullemine Benoist also known as Marie Guillemine de Laville Leroux was born in Paris
France in 1768 where she later died in 1826. Being brought into the world at the height of the
neoclassical art movement it is no wonder this is where she drew her artistic inspiration. The heavy
influence of this style can be seen quite a bit through the detailing Benoist included in her works of
art. She is prominently known for the romantic dresses, realistic contoured body detailing, and
portrayal of beauty rather than the reality which strictly corresponds with this style influenced by
the classical art and culture of ancient Rome and Greece. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Abstract: As humans advanced in technology, manmade and natural disasters are increasing
exponentially. One of the most dangerous is the forest fire. Forest fire destroys trees which give
us oxygen and it is very difficult to stop a forest fire spreading if it is not detected early. Our
method is to detect the forest fire as early as possible and also predict the forest fire in advance
so that prompt action can be taken before the fire destroys and spreads over a large area. We also
find the rate of spread of fire in all direction so that necessary action can be initiated. The other
problems are deforestation where humans cut the trees from restricted areas and so the wild
animals from the forest enter the human habitation and cause problems. In this paper we discuss
the solutions to overcome these problems.

The Work And Decision Making Relationships Amongst The...
Since 1950 s, contemporary dance practitioners, both modern and post modern choreographic
artists/dancers, have worked with a group of dancers as a small community or social group to
create group works. This essay will discuss and reflect on the precise nature of the working and
decision making relationships amongst the choreographer and the dancers; what the group
dances looked like, or how the choreographies composed the group on stage; nature of the studio
and rehearsal processes and processes of transmission of corporeal values; and lastly, how the
group worked together in terms of pay and conditions and how and where they rehearsed and
performed. Using, internationally recognised choreographers Merce Cunningham and Twyla
Tharp, I will discuss these questions on the processes of group dances by how these choreographers
worked and developed a group of dancers.

Rivalry Of Elizabeth
Rivalry between Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots
Religion is a main reason why Elizabeth executed Mary. Evidence which supports this reason is
that some English Catholics would have preferred Mary as Queen of England. This would have
made Elizabeth feel as she would need to execute Mary because Mary gave Catholics a reason to
rebel against Elizabeth. Elizabeth was a protestant queen and most Catholics preferred a queen of
their own belief. Thus, this was the best time to rebel against Elizabeth and gain a new catholic
queen who lead the country. All they had to do, was releasing her from imprisonment. An argument
in support of this evidence is that in 1570 the Pope issued a Bull ordering. Catholics should disobey
Elizabeth because she was heretic. Catholics must follow the Pope and believe in him as the
legitimate head of church. McLaren describes that not solely the papal bull had consequences in the
year 1570, but also James Stewart s assassination:
If the near conjunction of the papal bull and the Northern Rebellion does not explain the change in
character of English anti Catholicism, 1570 still remains a key date in its career. The key event,
however, belongs to a British history whose parameters and ... Show more content on

This would give the Catholics courage to take Elizabeth off the throne and crown a catholic
queen instead, as this is what the Pope wanted. A further piece of evidence is the Northern
rebellion of 1569. It was a catholic attempt to replace Elizabeth with Mary. This would have
made Elizabeth feel that she would need to execute Mary because this event happened so
quickly as she has only been there for a year. Mary did not agree to it because she knew it would
fail. Religion links to other factors such as dynastic reasons, because Mary said she was the
rightful Queen of England and Elizabeth was illegitimate because the Catholics did not believe in

Moana ( HJA ) Stages In The Movie Moa
One occurrence of the Hero Journey Archetype (HJA) stages being utilized in the movie Moana
can be observed towards the beginning of the story with HJA Stage 2 Call to Adventure.
According to Campbell as cited and explained by Vogler, The hero is presented with a problem,
challenge or adventure. Maybe the land is dying, as in the King Arthur stories about the search for
the Grail (1). This suggests that stories which follow the HJA pattern usually have a herodrawn to
adventurethat is completely unfamiliar to their ordinary world. The author or director does this
to show foreshadow what the hero will eventually do; their adventure. An example of this stage
in the movie Moana directed by Ron Clements was when Moana desperately wants to go past the
reef. She wants to help people by going on a voyage however, her dad wants her to stay. All her
life, Moana felt called to the water. This scene introduces the audience to how Moana longs to go
on an journey, which fits the HJA Stage Call to Adventure. Another incidence of the Hero Journey
Archetype (HJA) stages being present in the movie The Lightning Thief can be seen towards the
beginning of the movie with HJA Stage 2 Call to Adventure. According to Campbell as cited and

Separating From Great Britain Dbq Essay
Under the tyranny of Great Britain the colonist faced many hardships placed onto them by the
parliament. Unconstitutional taxes were implemented for no reason other than to increase Britain s
revenue. In addition laws that disregarded man s natural rights were enforced by Britain onto the
colonists. And because of these reasons the American colonist were justified for separating from
Great Britain by declaring independence. The American colonists were justified for separating from
Great Britain because of the unfair taxes Great Britain forced on them. One example of an unfair
tax was the Stamp Act, which was a tax placed on all paper goods, such as newspapers or letters. In

Boston massacre. The Boston Massacre had only occurred, because the citizens were harassing

and needed soldiers to enforce peace among the civilians. The actions of the colonist were not

One of his biggest mistake he made was his attempt to do court packing where he can add more
Supreme Court justices when a justice reaches a certain age but refuses to retire. That is due to
the frustration that he encounters with the old, conservative supreme court and he believes that
such actions from the court have the intent on slowing down the progress of the New Deal.
(Court Packing) It was very unexpected and the courts eventually take action to prevent the
legislation from being more influential to the public. His executive action sending Japanese
citizens in the US to internment camps was a controversial measure to make after the attacks on
Pearl Harbor. It was deemed unfair to move Japanese Americans to relocation even though they

Organizational Effectiveness And What Emotional Intelligence
To be completely honest before starting this class I had no idea what organizational effectiveness
and what emotional intelligence was. I read a couple articles, and looked it up online. I still really
had no idea about the different components. I simply thought organizational effectiveness was a

would call) soft science components. I am referring to the psychology, sociology, and even
anthropology. This makes me very intrigued. I have enjoyed all of those classes in my undergrad

I have heard the term locus of control several times from nursing school. It always makes me

can make a difference in their lives. Nurses are very driven people. They are also very goal
oriented, so this helps them achieve their goals. Patients do not always have an internal locus of
control. Some believe everything happens to them, and there is nothing they can do about it.

Chlamydia Is Among The Smallest Organisms Essay
Chlamydia is among the smallest organisms. Under a microscope, they are seen as obligate
intracellular parasites. One characteristic of Chlamydia is that they could not produce their own
energy which makes them completely dependent on the energy of their hosts (Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, 2001).
Chlamydia undergoes two stages in its development, namely the elementary bodies and the
reticulate bodies. In its elementary stage, this organism meets its host and is taken up by
phagocytosis which thwarts the process of combination of the lysosome and phagosome. This
microscopic event normally kills pathogens. Once the formation of phagolysosome is stopped, the
bacteria produce glycogen and it then changes into the reticulate body. Reticulate bodies attain their
energy by sending forth straw like structures into the cell cytoplasm of their host. These bodies
then are divided by binary fission. It is estimated that for each phagolysosome about 100 1000
reticulate bodies are produced (Chlamydia Trachomatis, n.d.).
Causes
Chlamydia infection is particularly caused by the bacteria known as Chlamydia trachomatis which
in turn causes cervicitis and bartholinitis in women and urethritis in men. It also causes extragenital
infections which include rectal and oropharyngeal infections (World Health Organization, 2016). As
a form of sexually transmitted infection, an individual may get infected through sexual contact

Negligent Tort
Negligence is a tort law and it falls within the civil law which means a civil wrong has been
committed (Tort and Negligence, 2012). The American civil justice system, defines the law of
torts as situations that occur when the wrongful conduct of one party causes harm to another
individual (WiseGeek, 2003). The responsible party fails to act as a reasonable person to someone
to whom she or he owes a duty, as required by law under the circumstances. Negligent torts are not

Small injuries or damages may occur when products malfunction, death may occur, or there
could be damage done to ones property. The company could face possible lawsuits and in order
to prove negligence, an individual must have had a duty of care, which is defined as having
responsibility to act in the best interest of another. A company must always be ready to defend
itself in all the possible issues that may arise and cause any form of lawsuit (WiseGeek, 2003).
Recalled Product
Even though businesses do not like to recall its products, but when there is a safety problem

to protect consumers from injuries, and to save lives. Recalls are beneficial to everyone when

could result in profit loss due to consumers being afraid or refuse to purchase the product, and the
stock values could fall if the company is publicly traded. This can be very damaging for a business
and could ultimately force the company to go out of business (Seaquist, 2012).

Tattoos And Consumer Culture
In recent days, the consumption of tattoos may be considered contradictory in its ability to make
someone be different and its potential symbolism of various subcultures allowing the consumer
to fit in. While many cultures around the world started using tattoos as a way to mark status,
spiritual devotion, bravery and protection, Western society began using tattoos as a symbol of
criminality and deviance. This perception of degeneracy has been argued to derive from
European middle class ideas of evolutionary superiority of their civilised society versus other
savage ones (1993, p. 10). With the rise of the rock star in the seventies, many subcultures began to
use tattooing to defy the dominant ideology of an ink free body being society s attractive norm
(Kosut 2013, p. 143; Sternberg, 2017 a). In recent years, popular cultureand incorporation altered
mainstream perceptions of tattoos and challenged the traditional ideologies connecting tattoos and
deviance (Kjeldgaard Bengtsson 2005, p. 172). By exploring the development of tattoos in
consumer culture, this essay examines the contrasting beliefs regarding whether consumption
practices are sites of resistance to the dominant order or sites of conformity.
The history and social significance of tattoos is very complex, as stated by Karacaoglan (2012):
Although the practice of tattooing has been in existence for millennia, tattoos have acquired
renewed and widespread currency in contemporary Western culture. Tattooing

Analysis Of The Tell Tale Heart
Oftentimes, the most truly despicable villains are marked with indifference towards their moral
reprehensibility. In the Penal Colony and The Tell Tale Heart both elucidate the idea that
corruption, darkness, and immorality alike are unperceivable to the one afflicted. However, while
In the Penal Colony suggests that this blind nature is a result of dutiful honor, responsibility, and
hope, The Tell Tale Heart alternatively submits that it is a result of the possibility of fulfillment.
Distinction between both arguments is found in the way setting and atmosphere background the
action. Both stories are vague in describing the general location and time of the action. Kafka,
however, puts forth some effort in detailing the immediate setting in the scene. He establishes the
story within a deep , yet, small , sandy valley, closed in on all sides by barren slopes (Kafka 75).
Kafka also notes, apart from the Officer and the Travelerthere were present the Condemned...and
The Soldier... (Kafka 75). The valley is oxymoronically both deep and small . The uneven and odd
composition highlights the peculiarity and alien quality the colony exudes to the Traveler and
reader. All that stood out in the valley, both literally and figuratively, was what the Officer dubbed,
the apparatus (Kafka 75). The Traveler is made utterly removed from the setting he enters. The
isolation of the Traveler standing before the machine and three strangers perpetuates an atmosphere

Factors That Affect Our Soil Quality And Increase Som Is...
From a practical point of view, anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) has been commonly used as a soil
conditioner to reduce erosion by clay flocculation and binding particles and stabilizing the outer
aggregate surfaces. Moreover, PAM is highly resistant to microbial degradation, with a
decomposition rate of в€
ј10% yr 1, which has led to its efficient use as a soilconditioner for long
periods. Wu et al. (2012) revealed that PAM showed a minor effect on 14C allocation in plant
parts and soil in a short term 14C labeling study. Except the observations of PAM
biotransformation, little information is available on the PAM efficiency on the microbial
activity in soils. In contrast, the agronomic benefits of biochar (BC) application to improve soil
quality and increase SOM is growing. Applying BC improves the physicochemical properties of
soil and maintains C and N sources, owing to a pronounced increase in plant growth and yield.
Moreover, wood biochar decreased the soil bulk density and enlarged diameter of aggregates,
thereby reducing soil loss. However, little is known about the effect of BC on soil microbial
populations and activities. BC or PAM showed minor effect on the decomposition of SOM based
on CO2 evolution because of the stability of these conditioners. A high portion of 14C maize
residues were stabilized in the soil after adding BC and PAM as the binders by the occlusion of
labile residue C into aggregates. Understanding the short term dynamics of C caused by PAM or

Presidential Success And Its Impact On The State Of Nation
Throughout history, presidents have or have not wielded the powers and tools available to them to
further their goals. Examining presidential power and success is to understand presidential
leadership. These top tier individuals elected to the presidency uses the resources and personal
characteristics to lead them to success and greatness, in some cases, some more than others. I have
provided a case study between Presidents Van Buren and Roosevelt to show how the internal and
external factors lead one presidentto be one of the greatest and most successful presidents in U.S
history, while the other is regarded as one of the more unsuccessful and worst presidents.
Presidential success is distinguished between internal and external factors. We should care about
presidential success and greatness because it significantly impacts the state of nation. I argue that
both internal and external factors are most important in determining presidential success.
External Factors
Building a coalition with Congress is vitally important. Presidents want to leave a legacy with
essential legislation. Public policy legislation is especially important to the president because they
want ground breaking policy. Presidents cannot manage the nation by themselves. It is necessary
for Presidents to partner with Congress, even though it is frequently very difficult. The legislative
and executive branches are responsible for compromises that consist of passing laws, adopting
budgets, treaties,

Nawoi Tribe Research Paper
There is a tribe of humans called Nawoi. They are located next to a river that they have named
after themselves. They are truly a small tribe but are able to attract large populations of humans
who have just passed into adulthood. These young adults will tend to migrate to the tribe in
August and return their origins in May. This would suggest that they are hibernating in this area,
but that is not the main purpose for the large migration of these people. They migrate to be taught
by gurus of the subject of their choice. Nawoi s will typically stay and learn for four revolutions
around the sun. At the end of this time, the gurus will present you with a piece of tree, stating you
are ready to work. However, some will stay and continue to learn... Show more content on

These rituals usually start as the sun rises. The tribe will start heading towards the shrine. When
they reach it they will wait outside and start making food in honor off their god Hawkeye . They
will also drink an elixir made out of barley, hops and yeast with water. The tribe believes this
elixir brings the tribe closer together and allows the mind to talk their god more easily. They
will continue to drink this elixir for hours until they have consumed enough to go to the shrine
and start the religious ritual. The shrine is one of the biggest structures in the tribe s community.
Religion is such an important part of the Nawois live they have placed the shrine far enough
from the river to avoid flooding even though much of their community is within the flooding
zone. The shrine is shaped like a bowl. It has a state in the middle with seating 360 degrees
around the stage. This religious ritual is like none I have ever seen. The tribe will get the strongest
men in their community to represent their god and have them battle another tribe. The point of the
battle is to win and bring honor to your tribe and dishonor to the opposing tribe. To win you must
take the pigskin (piece of pigskin shaped like a cone) into the enemy s territory. Well not allowing
them to take the pigskin into their own territory. Deaths are a rarity but getting injured during the
course of battle is a common occurrence and is honorable

Bill Clinton Moral Leadership
For many years there have been people who obtain a high leadership billet, but are not worthy of
it. These leaders who are not worthy of it tend to lack moral standing and responsibility. Mortals
are a person s standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable. Although
many people believe that it is acceptable for leaders and politicians to have moral deficiencies, it is
imperative to be of the highest moral standing to be successful.
Let s take our Forty Second President Mr. Bill Clinton for example of poor self knowledge on what
s acceptable and not acceptable when in a leadership position. Certainly he lacked moral standing
because he was impeached from his presidency with two charges, perjury and obstruction

Case Study For Defence In Depth
2.8.3Case Study for Defence in Depth Security
1.Security Is a Team Sport: A Case for Cooperative Defence in Depth
A Defence in Depth strategy has always remained in fashion and a constant within security clever
organizations. Like the body s immune system, this strategy is focused on multiple layers of
defence to protect against any new threat. It includes defences and controls covering both networks
and hosts and encompasses all phases of threat protection from prevention, to detection, to response.
But there is an evolution to the traditional Defence in Depth strategy that is called Cooperative
Defence in Depth. A Cooperative Defence in Depth strategy should include both prevention and
detection technologies that support open security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Persistence it says the Install and Command Control phases. From a defence standpoint, at this
stage they ve gotten a foothold and can hang around on the network. Until now the attacker s
efforts resulted in very specific actions, but now they can connect back into the environment and
work towards a large scale ex filtration of data.
5.How the Skills Shortage Is Killing Defence in Depth
Denial of service attacks grow ever larger. Foundation turns out to have shocking holes. Since
2010, security vendors have been developing ever more impressive, but specialized, security
gizmos. It used to be easy to sell targeted security products because every gizmo would get air
cover from the concept of defence in depth.
Military prior to the digital age, defence in depth is the idea that more layers of defence equal a
stronger security posture. For vendors, defence in depth meant it was all right if their gizmo didn t
offer wide protection because some other vendor s gizmos would plug the holes. Forrester analyst
Rick Holland called this philosophy Expense in Depth the multilayered approach to ensuring
minimal return on investment.
Normally the market fixes problems like this: rising wages in any field should attract new
applicants to the business. But security doesn t work that way. Security is harder to teach than other

Causes Of The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
On March 25, 1911 in the New York City s West village 146 people mainly young women
immigrants of Italian and Jewish background perished. The women, some just teenagers would
work long hours in the factory sewing shirtwaist high necked cottons blouses which were the
fashion staple of the time for young women. The owners of the Triangle Shirt waist factory
would lock the doors while the women worked, said to prevent theft and the visit of union reps
to the location. What lead to the fire was the unsanitary factory floor. This was the exact reason
to why before the actual fire, 400 of the factories employees went on strike. During this strike the
women fought for better wages and safer working conditions. Unfortunately they only won some
of their concessions on pay, but little was actually done by the factories owner who continued to
keep the workplace in shambles. As well as the doors still locked. Besides the doors being
locked there were piles of flammable fabric scraps, over flowed waste baskets and many of
workers crammed in multiple floors of the building. In 1977 the fire was ignited by what was
said to be a match or cigarette tossed carelessly amid the debris on the eighth floor. The fire
quickly spread through the open factory floors above. The actual shirtwaist building was fire
proof and still stands today. Located in the West village at the corner of Greene Street and
Washington Place one could still pay the original building a visit. Those on the 10th floor
escaped to the roof and took the elevator until it stopped functioning. During those days fire
engine ladders only reached to the sixth floor. Unfortunately during the fire for some reason
workers on the ninth floor were not informed of the blaze, and due to a lack of a building alarm
system this floor had the highest number of deaths. The poorly built and unmaintained fire escapes
collapsed in the heat, sending a many of the workers on a free fall to their deaths. Which after the
initial tragedy, the New York CityFire Chief Edward F. Croke was asked if the fire escapes
provided by building in the area were actually adequate in the event of a fire. The chief s response

People with a lot of power are usually very influential and can change your life. In the Novel One
Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey, McMurphy and Nurse Ratched both had the same
main goal of beating each other. Both the Nurse and McMurphy have an impact on the patient s and
how they act. Big Nurse tries to divide the patients to keep them from uniting while McMurphy is
trying to unite them, so they can rebel against the Nurse. Both Nurse Ratchedand McMurphy have a

McMurphy and she tries to make him look selfish. Nurse Ratched also makes other patients feel
down on themselves, she says, If you men can calm yourself enough to act like a group of adults
at a discussion instead of children on the playground, we will ask the doctor if he thinks it would
be beneficial to consider a change in the ward policy at this time. Doctor? (168). She is able to
control the patients and make them think about what they are saying to give them second thoughts
about what they are really saying. Also she makes them feel bad about themselves for acting out
and making them feel like she is mad at them for doing it. Finally, Nurse is able to make the
patients act out towards each other and tell lies about themselves. Chief thinks to himself,
It was better than she d dreamed. They were all shouting to outdo one another, going further and

Economic Changes In The Gilded Age
The Gilded Age was a very special time for our nation that took place from the 1870s to around
1900. During this time, economic growth was at a rapid increase, politics were corrupted yet had
high turnouts, and urbanization flourished. Every aspect of the life of an American changed
drastically throughout this time of the Gilded Age. The entire era was focused on the enormous
changes that each aspect of America was going through. As this is brought to attention, if we are to
look into the way that America is in our time of today, we can find that there are many similarities
to that of the original Gilded Age. The United Statesof America have currently found themselves to
be experiencing the second era of the Gilded Age throughout the areas of economic, politic and
social transformation. During the first Gilded Age that occurred in the late 1800s, economic
growth was at an all time high. At this time, the wages that were given to American were at an
increased rate compared to that of the wages that were given in Europe. Due to this, an abundant
amount of European immigrants came over to the United States because of this inflated wage.
These economic advances were due to that of several technological advances that had come about
in this time. The industrial production skyrocketed, which, in turn, made for increased economic
wealth for Americans. Similarly, to this time, America in this day and age is experiencing its own
expansion in economy. Tax breaks in today s world

Task Switching Behavior
Video games have become one of the most popular forms of entertainment. Video games require
players to manipulate images on a screen. In general, those that play video games experience
improvements in hand eye coordination. This is logical, considering the quick movements one
must use to complete a video game. Video games also require the player to perform mental
processes similar to those the player would perform in the real world. With this in mind, it is
possible that certain video games can improve mental processes that are exercised within the
virtual world. Studies have investigated if and how driving, action, and puzzle video games

As stated in the study video gamers outperformed non gamers in the dual task situation ts(18)
3.205, ps .01, (***). Furthermore, the gamers outperformed nongamers on the task switching
therefore. Interesting enough, there was no significant difference in single task performance
between the two groups. While these findings seem promising, there is no way to say that the
differences in dual task and task switching performances were caused by video game play.
Therefore, the investigators decided to perform another experiment. The purpose of the
experiment was to see if action video games are responsible for the difference in performance on
these tests. The researchers picked two video games for the experiment: Medal of Honor and
Tetris. Medal of Honor is an action video game and Tetris is a puzzle game. It was hypothesized
that playing Medal of Honor would create improvements in the dual task and task switching tests
while Tetris would not create an improvement. In the between subjects experiment, 32 college
students were randomly separated into three groups, 10 in the Medal of Honors group, 10 in the
Tetris group, and 12 in the control group, whom were not exposed to any video games. The
experiment consisted of a pretest, conditioning trials, and a posttest. During the pretest, all three
groups were took the dual task and the task switching tests. After the tests, the two experimental
groups practiced their respective video games in 15 one hour sessions over four weeks. The
control group did not practice either video game. Finally, the three groups retook the two tests, and
the difference in performance was found. The independent variable of the experiment was video
game, with the levels being Medal of Honor, Tetris, and no game. The dependent variable was

A Direct Link Between Carbon Dioxide And Global Warming
Damon Matthews, a professor in Concordia University s Department of Geography, found a direct
connection between carbon dioxide and global warming. Matthew s studies show that same global
temperature increase, regardless of when or over what period of time the emission occurs. The
effect of adding more carbon dioxideis predicted in the theory of greenhouse gases. Swedish
scientist, Syante Arrhenius, first proposed the theory in 1896, based on earlier work by Fourier
and Tyndall. At the same time, many scientists have reached the same conclusion. If we increase
the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the Earth s temperature will increase. Energy
is absorbed from the sun in the form of visible light and ultraviolet radiation. The earth then
releases some of this energy as infrared radiation. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere captures
some of this heat, then re emit it in all directions. During this process, carbon dioxide and other
greenhouse gases keep the Earth s surface 33 degree Celsius warmer than it would be without
them. According to an ongoing temperature analysis conducted by a scientist at NASA s
Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the average global temperature on Earth has
increased by about 0.8 degree Celsius. Since 1975, two thirds of the warming has occurred at a
rate of roughly 0.15 0.20 degree Celsius per decade. Our lives involve the emission of theses
dangerous greenhouse gases (Bushnell 25). Carbon dioxide has increased to

Who Is To Blame For The Titanic
Have you ever heard about the Titanic? Well, chances are that if you have, you probably heard
of the altercation about who is responsible for the sinking of the titanic. The Titanic was one of
the greasiest disasters ever. There were numerous safety rules have been made because of the
Titanic. I think Captain Smith is responsible for the sinking of the Titanic because he didn t take
proper safety precautions, ignored multiple iceberg warnings, and left the wheel knowing that
there were icebergs ahead. Some people might argue that J. Bruce Ismay is responsible for the
sinking of the Titanic because he put too much of a burden on Captain Smith to get to New York
faster, but if Captain Smith was the best captain of all the captains in the

Vivaldi Solo Concerto Essay
The solo concerto was a feature piece for a solo instrument accompanied by a contrasting ensemble,
the biggest difference between the concerto grosso and the solo concerto was the contrast between
the solo and the tutti sections were even longer and much more detailed. It wasn t until the
eighteenth century that the solo concertobecame popular, the most well known composer of the
solo concerto was Antonio Vivaldi. It was Vivaldi s clean melodies, expertise with solo passages
and the contrast in timbre between the orchestraand solo parts that his concertos are among the
most famous of all other composers. Vivaldi wrote over five hundred concertos mostly for his own
instrument the violin, but also for the trumpet, cello, oboe flute and bassoon. Most of these

Vivaldi s music was innovative, flamboyant and bright. In this way he managed to embellish the
formal structure of the solo concerto. This form of concerto gave soloists a chance to show off
their virtuosity, especially violinists on the new instruments thanks to luthiers such as Stradivarius
and Guarneri. Vivaldi s solo concertos provided musicians with a much wider range of colour by
using orchestration techniques of pizzicato and muted strings and contrast which was unparalleled
at the time. He mostly followed the simple three movement structure of fast slow fast, because
Vivaldi followed this pattern closely this became a prominent template for the next three centuries
of composers. Vivaldi s four seasons concerto is arguably the most popular baroque concerto,
written for solo violin and orchestra, it is an example of programatic music, that is, music based
upon a story or music that tells a story. The four seasons is based upon a set of sonnets, no one
knows exactly who wrote them, but it is thought that Vivaldi himself may have written

Burial Practices Of Neanderthal Usuals
INTRODUCTION
Throughout our lives, we have buried our dead. It is a normal process, embedded into our culture
since, to what seems so to us at least, the beginning. However, we never thought to ask ourselves
when actually this practice began. Also we never thought to ask if we were the only ones to
entomb our dead in a ritualistic way. There is evidence of our distant cousins Homo
neanderthalensis, or Neanderthal, exhibit similar burial practices that we do to this day.
Neanderthal sites often have artifacts and possible different burial practices which can means
that they have the ability to do ritualistic burials. They are one of the links that may play a huge
role in understanding our past, and how our concept of death and the treatment of them began.
The topic of burying the dead is a big subject being because it is proof of some higher thought in
our ancestors. One of the major questions of human evolution is when we gained the ability to
conduct more complex and advance thought. By understanding our past we can have a better
understanding of our future. If we understood how our minds developed and formed we may be
able to better predict where it is going or at the least understand how our brains came to be up until
present day.
ARGUMENT
Neanderthals were able to do most tasks modern humans were able to do, i.e. make tools. There
is even evidence of them caring for their elders and appear to be able to comprehend their own
finite life (Schwarz 2014:18). That all being

Transgender Individuals Serving In The Military Essay
President Trump recently signed and transmitted a directive to the Department of Defense, which
would discontinue the admittance of transgender individuals into the military. The guidance sent to
the Pentagon on Friday, August 25th, 2017, also communicated the President s desire to cut off
funding from tax dollars to pay for troop s sex changes.
When Did the Subject of Transgender Individuals Serving in the Military Come up?
Former President Obama, brought the matter of transgender individuals serving in the military
before leaving office. He set the implementation date for his changes for July 2017, which of
course left the matter in the hands of his successor. Even at the time, Obama s move was widely

Reasons Transgender Troops Could Cause Problems:
Whether or not a person agrees with the transgender lifestyle is of no consequence. There are other
reasons that transgender troops aren t a good idea that has nothing to do with a moral leaning. They
are as follows:
Mental Health Issues: The military has strict restrictions on admittance based upon mental health.
For example, any presence of a mood disorder that requires medication can be disqualifying.
Anxiety issues are also disqualifying for entry into the military. When you consider this alongside
the fact that transgender people are at a greater risk, by two to three fold of developing this type
of mental disorder, according to a study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health, it makes
sense that someone who had a predisposition already to developing a mental illness wouldn t make
a good soldier.
Medical Needs That Take Soldiers Off The Battle Field:
Also, another reason why the military is so picky about enlistments is the fact that they want able
bodied troops who do their job, without fail. Transgender people, who are in the

During the early years of the Paleo Indian tribes, they exploited a wide variety of exotic plants
and animals. Many of these animals were from the Ice Age. This research paper will discuss what
kinds of tools they used for growing crops, hunting big animals like the woolly mammoth and the
giant ground sloth and what they used them for besides a source of food. In 13,000 bc the first
communities in the Americaswere established and the first group of people that established tribes
were the Paleo Indians. At this point in time the Ice Age was coming to an end, but there were still

mammoths body parts for other uses besides food. One thing they would use them for is build
their huts and tents out of the mammoths massive bones to make the structure of the tent and
would have most likely used the skin and fur as the roofs. The fur would have also been used to
make clothing too. Other bones would have been used to make tools for digging or weapons for
hunting (Wikipedia, Woolly Mammoth, n.d.). One of the tips that were used for spears was called
the clovis point. The clovis point was the most common arrowhead that was used on spears and

  • 2. Solving the Foreclosure Crisis Essay The Foreclosure Crisis is the direct effect of the mortgage crisis that became apparent in 2007, so in order to solve the current crisis we must tackle the cause, not just the symptoms. The issue at the heart of the mortgage crisis is that in most cases the cost of the mortgage has risen above the market value of the home, trapping the homeowner. To solve the crisis both in the short term and to prevent similar crises in the long term, steps must be taken to achieve two broad goals: make mortgages affordable by regulating mortgages and mortgageproviders and lowering interest rates, and stabilize the market value of homes by increasing demand and decreasing supply. In the past, governmental regulations on banks and mortgage lenders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These actions will protect debtors from unjust rates and will ultimately protect creditors from defaults on their loans. The next essential regulatory act is to limit the size of mortgages. A regulation should be put in place that prohibits the granting of a mortgage that is over 100% of the market value of house. In the past, when house prices were rising it seemed safe to take out a mortgage higher than the value of a house, but that is a root cause of all mortgage crises. The economy naturally grows and shrinks and so does the market value of a house. When mortgages represent more than the market value of the collateral and the value of the house drops, homeowners cannot sell their house for the equivalent of the principal and if the homeowner cannot make payments, foreclosure or bankruptcy are the only options. This clearly limits the lenders, but it is a necessary regulation to protect lenders from losing money. In the case of a foreclosure in which the mortgage is worth more than the collateral, the lender suffers the difference and risks its own bankruptcy. While this regulation may seem to hurt lenders, truly it protects them. Debtors who are close to foreclosure should have further rights protected by law. In the case where a debtor cannot make their monthly payments due to financial situations beyond their control, they should have the right to renegotiate for lower payments through ... • 3. The Mathematical Theory Of Communication In Thomas... According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, entropy can be defined as the degree of disorder or uncertainty in a system. In his novel, The Crying of Lot 49, Thomas Pynchon manipulates the definition of the scientific term entropy to manifest the innate chaos and disorder in both a closed thermodynamic system and in the life of the protagonist: Oedipa Maas. In the novel, Oedipa Maas explores entropywith respect to the thermodynamic sorting of molecules in Maxwell s Demon, and the communication information regarding the Tristero . According to Warren Weaver s, Recent Contributions to The Mathematical Theory of Communication, there are technical, semantic, and effectiveness problems that may distort the accuracy of communication,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since entropy prospers in closed environments much like Oedipa s life at the beginning of the novel, Pynchon develops the idea that the chaos in Oedipa s life is subject to increase with the discovery of more information pointing to the existence of Tristero. This overload of information Oedipa experiences serves as a roadblock to her understanding of the true meaning behind the Tristero. According to Warren Weaver, the entropy in the channel is determined both by what one attempts to feed into the channel and by the capabilities of the channel to handle different signal situations (Weaver, 10). Thus, when Oedipa is fed copious amounts of symbols, words, and theories, she finds it hard to handle sorting what is real and unreal. This confusion that Oedipa endures is a direct consequence of the noise created by different people, symbols, and word that disrupt Oedipa s deciphering of the Tristero. Warren Weaver comments on this noise seen in Claude Shannon s communication transmission model, stating that, If noise is introduced, then the received message contains certain distortions...that would certainly lead one to say that the received message exhibits, because of the effects of the noise, an increased uncertainty... If the information source has any residual uncertainty...then this must be undesirable uncertainty due to noise (Weaver, 11). This undesirable uncertainty due to noise leads ... • 4. Analysis Of Hotel California By The Eagles I have always enjoyed music with strong, meaningful lyrics so this option was the obvious choice for my final. I find myself constantly listening to music and have listened to Hotel California by The Eagles more times than I can count, making it another obvious choice for me. Although, when reading through the lyrics the first time, I realized that I had never understood the song meaning and the theme it is intended to portray. It was interesting to read through it with my own, as opposed to hearing the tone it receives when listening to the song. Not having the music helped me understand the meaning of the lines better, letting the words sink in instead of them being sung quickly and then gone. Hotel California takes on a relatively free form when analyzed as poetry. It contains a mostly consistent rhyme pattern throughout using an A,A,B,B,C,C series, as many songs do. However, the meter of the song is less structured and has more variance throughout the stanzas. Each can carry different numbers of syllables than the one before, depending on the part of the song. This is where the work loses its formality and is taken as free verse. When reading through, the lyrics carry even more similar traits than those we look for when analyzing modern poetry including, general theme and figurative language. The theme of the song is rather interesting and I have heard many different theories about the meaning when discussing it with peers over the years. One of the thoughts is ... • 5. Chastity In The Canterbury Tales Through the union of thirty four pilgrims on their journey to Canterbury for absolution, Chaucer pens the tales and interactions of the pilgrims of various ranks and ecclesiastic affiliation. He negotiates a social hierarchy different from that of the current governing structure through his acute understanding of the behaviors, beliefs, and pretenses that cemented such order. Chaucer s microcosm of caricaturized hierarchies criticizes the current social order defining the late 1300s, exposes the decadence of the disintegrating social structure, and hints at his idyllic version of a more correct institution. To understand Chaucer s lampoonery, it is imperative to understand the current rankings and privilege from whence he came. Born to a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the supporting cast of women effort for mastery over their husbands; they abandon it the moment they attain it. In an era where chastity was expected and cherished, the Wife of Bath presents a refreshing alternative to such concepts. She boasts of her sexual proclivity and contends that male genitalia serves a greater purpose than simply urination. Her freeness in indulging in sexual activity and her multiple spouses speaks to her inner confidence and lack of privacy. Her character discusses the power relations between men and women and posits that women desire domination and control over men ( The Wife of Bath s Tale , 229); however, the domination that they crave is surface level in that women relapse into their subordinate stereotypes once they have been granted such control. In an analogous vein, the Nun s Priest Tale offers a varied stance from feminist s push for coexisting powers if not complete domination. When Chanticleer confides in his dear Pertelote about his premonition, she dismisses his qualms and accuses him of cowardice. Her desire for a courageous mate parallels men s objectification of women and exposes the equally one dimensional consideration given to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Similarities In Narratives In Romantic Operas To discover similarities in narratives in Romantic operas, I defer to Ernest Newman and George Upton, who are professional music analysts. Newman has written multiple publications on the great operas of Don Giovanni, Figaro, Turandot, and others. In his book The Wagner Operas, he analyzes nine of Wagner s operas (Mastersingers of Nuremburg, The Valkyrie, Seigfired and Parsifial among others). A common theme in many of Wagner s operas is that they involve the supernatural, and this is in agreement with the immense drama of the Romantic era operas. For example, in The Flying Dutchman, a phantom ship appears and a ghostly Dutchman (as the title suggests) requests the marriage of a sailor s daughter to redeem himself (Newman, 1963). Upton, has compiled plots and music of modern operas into a book published in 1926 as an addendum to his Standard Handbooks on Music. One of the operas he summarizes is that of Gioacchino Rossini s William Tell. The death of a herdsman s daughter at the hands of a tyrant s follower results in the request to Tell to protect the herdsman. In a square, Tell refuses so succumb to the tyrant s wishes and is jailed. The herdsman rounds up a rescue squad to help him and succeeds. This is a divergence from the Wagnerian obsession with the supernatural, but is still an excellent example of Romantic opera(Upton, 1926).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dichotomy In The Exorcist The Exorcist In this essay I will be talking about the symbols and their meanings and dichotomies found in the exorcist, as well as some elements of horror I found in the film and my own opinion about the film. The film was directed by William Friedkin and it is based on the novel The Exorcist from 1971. this film The Exorcist is about a mother who is an actor and her daughter who unfortunately has been possessed by the devil himself. It follows them and how the mother is trying to help her and that after trying everything she gets to priests to perform an exorcism on her and she is then rid of the monster. Dichotomy is when a seemingly harmless thing is portrayed as the opposite. One dichotomy in the film is Regan. Regan is a dichotomy because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As for why the effects were like that I have a feeling it is because they were made quite a while back so that our knowledge of special effects and our ability to make effects has grown greatly. As for the long and boring scenes that is probably because in the 1970s they were practicing with new styles of filming. At the point in the film where Karras meets a possessed Regan to judge her level of how possessed she was and throws holy water at her. Later he said it was only tap water, this confused me because I do not get why the devil would react in way that seemed like he was harmed by the water towards the tap water. A reason that could have been is because according to Damien Karras, the demon s reaction to the tap water could mean that the possession is not genuine. This would therefore weaken his case for an exorcism. So, it could be that the demon was deliberately reacting to the tap water so Karras would not get permission to perform the exorcism. Overall I thought that the film was pretty well acted and even though the effects were bad I was still really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Exegetical Study on Corinthians Exegetical study on: 1 Corinthians 14:1 6 Principles of Biblical Interpretation Dr. Dale Hutchcraft 10/23/09 Alex Sullins The passage that I chose to exegete is 1 Corinthians 14:1 6, the main idea of this passage is for the apostle Paul to confront the Corinthian church in Corinth about their misuse of the spiritual gifts, namely the use of tongues. The following is a full outline of the passage with the main point of each verse, it goes as follows: 1 Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. Only Paul speaks of the gift of prophecy, in some instances as in 1 Th. 5:20 it is not clear whether the reference is to the prophetic gift or the prophetic saying (Friedrich). Verse 2 Verse 2 explains that the misuse of tongues was one of Corinthians major problems in their exercises of their spiritual gifts during worship (Blomberg). When speaking in tongues they felt enlarged and elevated, their whole being was for a time expanded by this emotion (Exell). These gifts are all used by the spirit, in understanding these gifts it is essential to understand what the spirit is. In Jewish thought the spirit denotes the power that humans experience that relates them to the spiritual realm, the realm that lies beyond human control (TDNT). It is a very unpleasant state of emotional and physiological arousal that people experience in situations that are dangerous or threatening. The events ranged from minor everyday changes one may face in their life to chaotic and disastrous events. As a reference point they assigned marriage with the arbitrary number of 500 and told the patients to gauge their responses using that value. If an event called for a higher amount of stress and change in one s life than the value would be higher and if it was less stress than the value would be lower. For this research, The Social Readjustment Rating Scale was used. This scale was created by Holmes and Rahe in the late 1960 s to measure the common stressors of everyday events. This scale was used to determine the value of stress in a certain event. To use the scale the individual being tested would have to add up all the values for the listed life events that were correlated with the individual, and if the event happened multiple times within the past 12 months then the event would be multiplied by the number of times it occurred. Shakespeare wrote many tragic plays, but Macbeth is by far the bloodiest play written to this day. This becomes evident with Shakespeare s use of blood to portray the advancements of mental disease. Macbethbegins the playas Lord of Glamis, with Lady Macbeth as his lady, and a sincere love for each other, and each other s power. As the plot continues we follow these characters as their previous lives disintegrate through their horrendous acts in need of power. She calms down her husband by telling him, that no one will know what they have done and they will easily be rid of their guilt. She remains calm and level headed even though her husband just committed a murder, which could mean the death of both of them if someone discovers their deed. She believes that the blood on their hands can easily wash away, and there will be no evidence of their part in the murder. Later on in the play, the audience sees that she no longer has a sense of equanimity, but appears frigid and paranoid. The Doctor and Gentlewoman see Lady Macbeth sleepwalking, and she rubs her hands while saying: Out, damned spot! Out, I say! (V.i.30). Lady Macbeth looks like a mad woman, who hallucinates due to the guilt she bares. Shakespeare implies that the stain Lady Macbeth struggles to get off of her hands comes from the blood spilled from murders she helped commit. If earlier a little bit of water could wash away the blood of the kings murder, then evidently the murders are piling up, and the amount of blood on her hands seems uncontrollable, and she can no longer clean up her husband s mess. • 15. Theme Of Human Nature In King Lear Human nature is a concept that has interested scholars throughout history and brought debate over what human nature truly is. Shakespeare explores the issue of human nature in his tragedy King Lear by attempting to portray human nature as entirely good or evil. He seems to suggest, however, that it is not impossible for one to move from one end of the spectrum of human nature to the other, as multiple characters go through somewhat of a metamorphosis where their nature is changed. Shakespeare present an account of human nature in King Learas the foundation of the tragedy King Lear. In this play, there is a noticeable difference between the natural way in which humans want to act against what is considered natural in society. Elements of society cause the characters to be able to justify unnatural actions. Shakespeare thoroughly laces this play with the concept of humans are neither good nor evil by nature. It is clear from the beginning of King Lear that Cordelia has an entirely good nature, she remains constant throughout the play, never wavering in her morals. The play begins with Lear deciding that he will have his daughters compete for their divisions of his kingdoms based on which of them can impress him the most with their proclamations of love. Cordelia, however, cannot express her love for her father in words, and refuses to deceive him by doing otherwise, stating that she is sure [her] love s more richer than [her] tongue (278 80). She realizes that by holding her tongue she is infuriating her father, but her nature cannot allow her to do otherwise. When King Lear asks her what she has to say, she states Nothing, my lord. This shows Cordelia s inherent good nature by doing what is right in a tough situation. Lear s lack of understanding of the natural bond between parents and their children leads him to his eventual demise. He is easily mislead by the other sisters, Goneril and Regan s fake natural behavior when they give their long speeches in order to try and flatter him. Eventually the daughters or as Lear calls them Pelican daughters (75) throw him out of his house as soon as they have obtained power. This review will focus on MEDCOM s ability to improve its acquisition workforce among the five ACFs. Mr. Spisak states, by valuing individuals and group potential, the Human Capital Strategy Plan points the way to success for the Army Acquisition Workforce (Spisak et al., p. 162). MEDCOM has strict regulatory mandates toward managing their acquisition personnel separately from but inclusively with the Army Acquisition Workforce (AAW). • 17. Trip Trips For The New Years Day Parade One thing that is on every bucket list is traveling abroad, or traveling to Paris, or going overseas, or some variation of that, and if one is lucky enough then hopefully one day that dream will come true. I know personally how stressful it can be to plan a trip abroad; I have traveled to London twice, and then to Paris, Florence, and Rome once. I went to London in December of 2014 to participate in The New Years Day parade; I traveled yet again to Europe in the summer of 2015 with an educational tours group. While I cannot tell you how to plan your tripsolo, I do know the other aspects of traveling. Today, I am here to tell you about the stresses and joys of planning a trip abroad; from planning what your destination/s will be to planning your outfits for the trip, I will try to cover everything that you can possible need to know. The first thing you need to do when thinking of traveling abroad is getting all the details planned or at least think them out. You need to figure out your main destination, you can later add on other destinations but you should know where you wantto go to for sure first. When figuring out your destination make sure, you really research that country so you that you will know how safe you will be ( Traveler s Checklist. ). When doing your research on your destination of choice you might see if they have anything that you should be vaccinated for just for your safety. • 18. Self Reflection On Teaching And Learning I believe a successful learning experience is engaging and valued by the students. I believe students will value what they are learning if they believe what they re learning is relevant. Relevance is important to teaching and learning because it is directly related to student engagement and motivation (Frymier Schulman, 1995; Martin Dowson, 2009). Marsh (2008), states a positive classroom environment provides a sense of security, community, belonging and identity (Marsh, 2008). Based on my experience as a practicing teacher, I have found establishing clear expectations within the classroom assist in maintaining control and discipline, to create a safe learning environment (Fatt Hee, 1996). I believe within all classrooms, students diversity should be valued. This creates a discrimination free environment and ensures students feel safe and included (Philips, 2010). According to Stanford Parkay (2007) students are more engaged in class when learning experiences are satisfying, challenging and friendly. There is no one size fits all teaching strategy for all students. Therefore teachers must use a variety of teaching strategies to cater for a variety of different learners (Gill, 2013). It is important for teachers to regularly evaluate their practices and whether they are meeting the learning needs of all students (Zeichner Liston, 1987). Self evaluation can assist teachers to improve the educational experiences provided for students and assist in identifying the professional education you need to further develop your capacity to teach well (Schwartz, n.d.). As a future teacher developing learning programs, teaching, assessing, providing feedback on student learning and reporting to parents/carers are skills I must be proficient in. Standard 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning On my most recent placement I taught a series of lessons (artefact) for a year 8 Health and Physical Education class. The sizes varied greatly along with the models throughout the ages, but vehicles have remained relatively constant taking changing times into account. The piece Swollen Expectations states that people in the present day buy larger vehicleswith more amenities as a result of their higher material expectations (De Graaf, Wann, Naylor); however, this proves to be uncorroborated on account of size patterns, the consumers reasons for purchasing, and the types of amenities available. Subcompact cars and microcars such as the Volkswagen Beetle or the legendary Smart Car, pertain to size trends in vehicles supplementing the pattern. They have existed for years, steadily proliferating in popularity. This demonstrates a contradiction to the testimony of growing vehicle size. Despite the desire for small cars traveling through the population, the demand for large cars is not likely to curtail, though not on account of high expectations. Lots of room is one benefit of buying a larger car. This is advantageous for families, especially ones who travel and need room for luggage. Gas mileage is the most eminent factor. The comfort and roominess of a station wagon exists in a SUV accompanied by the benefits of modern cars, including fuel efficiency. This was important during the energy crisis of the 70 s and is still important today with the ever growing gas prices (De Graas, Wann, Naylor). Safety brings up another benefit of driving a larger vehicle. In the case of a wreck, large vehicles usually fare better just because of their sheer size. Buyers typically prefer safety in their vehicle opting to purchase a larger vehicle. Accompanying reasonability, the fact that expensive cars can be a status symbol does play a role in the consumers decision; however, people have bought expensive things to flaunt since currency has existed. The only people who bought expensive cars for looks were wealthy adults. Most people bought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The study of ethics in policing has expanded considerably over the past few years as cases of police brutality and corruption have surfaced in the media and in the courtroom. The study of police ethics according to the Department of Justice is especially important in light of the functions and duties of the police as well as the wide powers of discretion that they enjoy. Police decisions can affect life, liberty, and property, and as guardians of the interests of the public police must maintain high standards of integrity. In addition, police have assumed the right to use intrusive, covert, and deceptive methods of law enforcement has a crucial role in protecting minority groups. It is rare and undependable for a team to naturally be successful without leadership. Leadership provides mission, vision, and values for a team. Leadership also helps establish positive norms within a team s working environment. There are two leadershiptheories presented in this course which, among the various theories, can play an important role in effective tem management and composition as well as contribute to an effective team (Bien, 2016). These two theories include the Management/Leadership Grid and Transactional Theory. The Management/Leadership Grid and Transactional Theory both have the ability to positively impact teams and how they behave. • 22. An Accidental Man Made Disaster A disaster is a highly disruptive event that causes suffering, hardship, injury, and even death (Anderson McFarlane, 2015). A disaster can cause interruptions in businesses, and can cause partial or total destruction to infrastructure, such as homes or hospitals (Anderson McFarlane, 2015). A disaster can cause downed power lines, loss of transportation, loss of food, and sanitation problems. Disasters are caused by naturally occurring events or man made events. Examples of naturally occurring disasters are earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Man made disasters are accidental, unintentional, or deliberately caused (Anderson McFarlane, 2015). An accidental man made disaster example would be a toxic spill, or a nuclear power plant event. A deliberately caused man made disaster would be a terrorist attack, school violence, or a bombing. Certain types of natural disasters are more likely to occur in certain areas than others. For instance, areas along the coastline are more likely to experience a hurricane than areas more inland. Every place one can live is prone to having a natural disaster occur. Also, a man made disaster can happen anywhere; no place is safe from the threat of terrorism. In my community of Mt. Skin is conductive enough to provide a capacitive coupling with an individual capacitive element on the array. Ridges, being closer to the detector, have a higher capacitance and valleys have a lower capacitance. Some capacitive sensors apply a small voltage to the finger to enhance the signal and create better image contrast. Capacitive sensors can be sensitive to electrostatic discharge (shock) but they are insensitive to ambient lighting and are more resist contamination issues than some optical designs. Optical Sensors Optical sensors use arrays of photodiode or phototransistor detectors to convert the energy in light incident on the detector into electrical charge. The sensor package usually includes a light emitting diode (LED) to illuminate the finger. There are two detector types used by optical sensors, charge coupled devices (CCD) and CMOS based optical imagers. CCD detectors are sensitive to low light levels and are capable of making excellent grayscale pictures. However, CCD fabrication is relatively expensive and neither low light sensitivity or grayscale imaging are required for fingerprint recognition. Marie Gullemine Benoist Essay Adoring one of the walls upstairs in the San Diego Museum of Art in the Balboa Park is a neoclassical masterpiece crafted by French born artist Marie Guillemine Benoist. This Oil painting, done on canvas, shows encased in a wreathed and rustic bronze frame woven in fertile vines bearing fruit. With the respectful dimensions of 100.33 cm (39.5 in.) length and 81.6 cm (32.13 in.) width, and hanging slightly above eye level it is easy to behold the bold and obvious detailing of the beautiful young women it portrays. However as visually stunning as this painting may be, the real beauty can be found in the history, controversy, and significance this work conceals in secret. Marie Gullemine Benoist also known as Marie Guillemine de Laville Leroux was born in Paris France in 1768 where she later died in 1826. Being brought into the world at the height of the neoclassical art movement it is no wonder this is where she drew her artistic inspiration. The heavy influence of this style can be seen quite a bit through the detailing Benoist included in her works of art. One of the most dangerous is the forest fire. Forest fire destroys trees which give us oxygen and it is very difficult to stop a forest fire spreading if it is not detected early. Our method is to detect the forest fire as early as possible and also predict the forest fire in advance so that prompt action can be taken before the fire destroys and spreads over a large area. We also find the rate of spread of fire in all direction so that necessary action can be initiated. The other problems are deforestation where humans cut the trees from restricted areas and so the wild animals from the forest enter the human habitation and cause problems. In this paper we discuss the solutions to overcome these problems. Since 1950 s, contemporary dance practitioners, both modern and post modern choreographic artists/dancers, have worked with a group of dancers as a small community or social group to create group works. This essay will discuss and reflect on the precise nature of the working and decision making relationships amongst the choreographer and the dancers; what the group dances looked like, or how the choreographies composed the group on stage; nature of the studio and rehearsal processes and processes of transmission of corporeal values; and lastly, how the group worked together in terms of pay and conditions and how and where they rehearsed and performed. Using, internationally recognised choreographers Merce Cunningham and Twyla Tharp, I will discuss these questions on the processes of group dances by how these choreographers worked and developed a group of dancers. The precise nature of the working and decision making relationships amongst the choreographer and the dancers; Merce Cunningham: dancer, choreographer, teacher and director of his own company (Brown, 1975, p19) has created, produced, and directed dozens of choreographic dance pieces since the ninety forties, working with hundreds of dancers. • 29. Rivalry Of Elizabeth Rivalry between Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots Religion is a main reason why Elizabeth executed Mary. Evidence which supports this reason is that some English Catholics would have preferred Mary as Queen of England. This would have made Elizabeth feel as she would need to execute Mary because Mary gave Catholics a reason to rebel against Elizabeth. Elizabeth was a protestant queen and most Catholics preferred a queen of their own belief. Thus, this was the best time to rebel against Elizabeth and gain a new catholic queen who lead the country. All they had to do, was releasing her from imprisonment. An argument in support of this evidence is that in 1570 the Pope issued a Bull ordering. Catholics should disobey Elizabeth because she was heretic. Catholics must follow the Pope and believe in him as the legitimate head of church. McLaren describes that not solely the papal bull had consequences in the year 1570, but also James Stewart s assassination: If the near conjunction of the papal bull and the Northern Rebellion does not explain the change in character of English anti Catholicism, 1570 still remains a key date in its career. According to Campbell as cited and explained by Vogler, The hero is presented with a problem, challenge or adventure. Maybe the land is dying, as in the King Arthur stories about the search for the Grail (1). This suggests that stories which follow the HJA pattern usually have a herodrawn to adventurethat is completely unfamiliar to their ordinary world. • 34. Chlamydia Is Among The Smallest Organisms Essay Chlamydia is among the smallest organisms. Under a microscope, they are seen as obligate intracellular parasites. One characteristic of Chlamydia is that they could not produce their own energy which makes them completely dependent on the energy of their hosts (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2001). Chlamydia undergoes two stages in its development, namely the elementary bodies and the reticulate bodies. In its elementary stage, this organism meets its host and is taken up by phagocytosis which thwarts the process of combination of the lysosome and phagosome. This microscopic event normally kills pathogens. Once the formation of phagolysosome is stopped, the bacteria produce glycogen and it then changes into the reticulate body. Reticulate bodies attain their energy by sending forth straw like structures into the cell cytoplasm of their host. These bodies then are divided by binary fission. It is estimated that for each phagolysosome about 100 1000 reticulate bodies are produced (Chlamydia Trachomatis, n.d.). Causes Chlamydia infection is particularly caused by the bacteria known as Chlamydia trachomatis which in turn causes cervicitis and bartholinitis in women and urethritis in men. Tattoos And Consumer Culture In recent days, the consumption of tattoos may be considered contradictory in its ability to make someone be different and its potential symbolism of various subcultures allowing the consumer to fit in. While many cultures around the world started using tattoos as a way to mark status, spiritual devotion, bravery and protection, Western society began using tattoos as a symbol of criminality and deviance. This perception of degeneracy has been argued to derive from European middle class ideas of evolutionary superiority of their civilised society versus other savage ones (1993, p. 10). With the rise of the rock star in the seventies, many subcultures began to use tattooing to defy the dominant ideology of an ink free body being society s attractive norm (Kosut 2013, p. 143; Sternberg, 2017 a). In recent years, popular cultureand incorporation altered mainstream perceptions of tattoos and challenged the traditional ideologies connecting tattoos and deviance (Kjeldgaard Bengtsson 2005, p. 172). By exploring the development of tattoos in consumer culture, this essay examines the contrasting beliefs regarding whether consumption practices are sites of resistance to the dominant order or sites of conformity. In the Penal Colony and The Tell Tale Heart both elucidate the idea that corruption, darkness, and immorality alike are unperceivable to the one afflicted. However, while In the Penal Colony suggests that this blind nature is a result of dutiful honor, responsibility, and hope, The Tell Tale Heart alternatively submits that it is a result of the possibility of fulfillment. Distinction between both arguments is found in the way setting and atmosphere background the action. Both stories are vague in describing the general location and time of the action. Kafka, however, puts forth some effort in detailing the immediate setting in the scene. He establishes the story within a deep , yet, small , sandy valley, closed in on all sides by barren slopes (Kafka 75). Kafka also notes, apart from the Officer and the Travelerthere were present the Condemned...and The Soldier... (Kafka 75). The valley is oxymoronically both deep and small . The uneven and odd composition highlights the peculiarity and alien quality the colony exudes to the Traveler and reader. All that stood out in the valley, both literally and figuratively, was what the Officer dubbed, the apparatus (Kafka 75). The Traveler is made utterly removed from the setting he enters. • 39. Factors That Affect Our Soil Quality And Increase Som Is... From a practical point of view, anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) has been commonly used as a soil conditioner to reduce erosion by clay flocculation and binding particles and stabilizing the outer aggregate surfaces. Moreover, PAM is highly resistant to microbial degradation, with a decomposition rate of в€ ј10% yr 1, which has led to its efficient use as a soilconditioner for long periods. Wu et al. (2012) revealed that PAM showed a minor effect on 14C allocation in plant parts and soil in a short term 14C labeling study. Except the observations of PAM biotransformation, little information is available on the PAM efficiency on the microbial activity in soils. In contrast, the agronomic benefits of biochar (BC) application to improve soil quality and increase SOM is growing. Applying BC improves the physicochemical properties of soil and maintains C and N sources, owing to a pronounced increase in plant growth and yield. Moreover, wood biochar decreased the soil bulk density and enlarged diameter of aggregates, thereby reducing soil loss. However, little is known about the effect of BC on soil microbial populations and activities. BC or PAM showed minor effect on the decomposition of SOM based on CO2 evolution because of the stability of these conditioners. A high portion of 14C maize residues were stabilized in the soil after adding BC and PAM as the binders by the occlusion of labile residue C into aggregates. • 40. Presidential Success And Its Impact On The State Of Nation Throughout history, presidents have or have not wielded the powers and tools available to them to further their goals. Examining presidential power and success is to understand presidential leadership. These top tier individuals elected to the presidency uses the resources and personal characteristics to lead them to success and greatness, in some cases, some more than others. I have provided a case study between Presidents Van Buren and Roosevelt to show how the internal and external factors lead one presidentto be one of the greatest and most successful presidents in U.S history, while the other is regarded as one of the more unsuccessful and worst presidents. Presidential success is distinguished between internal and external factors. We should care about presidential success and greatness because it significantly impacts the state of nation. I argue that both internal and external factors are most important in determining presidential success. External Factors Building a coalition with Congress is vitally important. Presidents want to leave a legacy with essential legislation. Public policy legislation is especially important to the president because they want ground breaking policy. Presidents cannot manage the nation by themselves. It is necessary for Presidents to partner with Congress, even though it is frequently very difficult. The legislative and executive branches are responsible for compromises that consist of passing laws, adopting budgets, treaties, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are truly a small tribe but are able to attract large populations of humans who have just passed into adulthood. Causes Of The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire On March 25, 1911 in the New York City s West village 146 people mainly young women immigrants of Italian and Jewish background perished. The women, some just teenagers would work long hours in the factory sewing shirtwaist high necked cottons blouses which were the fashion staple of the time for young women. The owners of the Triangle Shirt waist factory would lock the doors while the women worked, said to prevent theft and the visit of union reps to the location. What lead to the fire was the unsanitary factory floor. This was the exact reason to why before the actual fire, 400 of the factories employees went on strike. During this strike the women fought for better wages and safer working conditions. Unfortunately they only won some of their concessions on pay, but little was actually done by the factories owner who continued to keep the workplace in shambles. As well as the doors still locked. Besides the doors being locked there were piles of flammable fabric scraps, over flowed waste baskets and many of workers crammed in multiple floors of the building. In 1977 the fire was ignited by what was said to be a match or cigarette tossed carelessly amid the debris on the eighth floor. The fire quickly spread through the open factory floors above. The actual shirtwaist building was fire proof and still stands today. Located in the West village at the corner of Greene Street and Washington Place one could still pay the original building a visit. Those on the 10th floor escaped to the roof and took the elevator until it stopped functioning. During those days fire engine ladders only reached to the sixth floor. Unfortunately during the fire for some reason workers on the ninth floor were not informed of the blaze, and due to a lack of a building alarm system this floor had the highest number of deaths. The poorly built and unmaintained fire escapes collapsed in the heat, sending a many of the workers on a free fall to their deaths. Every aspect of the life of an American changed drastically throughout this time of the Gilded Age. The entire era was focused on the enormous changes that each aspect of America was going through. As this is brought to attention, if we are to look into the way that America is in our time of today, we can find that there are many similarities to that of the original Gilded Age. The United Statesof America have currently found themselves to be experiencing the second era of the Gilded Age throughout the areas of economic, politic and social transformation. During the first Gilded Age that occurred in the late 1800s, economic growth was at an all time high. At this time, the wages that were given to American were at an increased rate compared to that of the wages that were given in Europe. Due to this, an abundant amount of European immigrants came over to the United States because of this inflated wage. These economic advances were due to that of several technological advances that had come about in this time. While these findings seem promising, there is no way to say that the differences in dual task and task switching performances were caused by video game play. Therefore, the investigators decided to perform another experiment. The purpose of the experiment was to see if action video games are responsible for the difference in performance on these tests. The researchers picked two video games for the experiment: Medal of Honor and Tetris. Medal of Honor is an action video game and Tetris is a puzzle game. It was hypothesized that playing Medal of Honor would create improvements in the dual task and task switching tests while Tetris would not create an improvement. • 48. A Direct Link Between Carbon Dioxide And Global Warming Damon Matthews, a professor in Concordia University s Department of Geography, found a direct connection between carbon dioxide and global warming. Matthew s studies show that same global temperature increase, regardless of when or over what period of time the emission occurs. The effect of adding more carbon dioxideis predicted in the theory of greenhouse gases. Swedish scientist, Syante Arrhenius, first proposed the theory in 1896, based on earlier work by Fourier and Tyndall. At the same time, many scientists have reached the same conclusion. If we increase the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the Earth s temperature will increase. Energy is absorbed from the sun in the form of visible light and ultraviolet radiation. The earth then releases some of this energy as infrared radiation. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere captures some of this heat, then re emit it in all directions. During this process, carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases keep the Earth s surface 33 degree Celsius warmer than it would be without them. According to an ongoing temperature analysis conducted by a scientist at NASA s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8 degree Celsius. Since 1975, two thirds of the warming has occurred at a rate of roughly 0.15 0.20 degree Celsius per decade. Our lives involve the emission of theses dangerous greenhouse gases (Bushnell 25). • 51. Burial Practices Of Neanderthal Usuals INTRODUCTION Throughout our lives, we have buried our dead. It is a normal process, embedded into our culture since, to what seems so to us at least, the beginning. However, we never thought to ask ourselves when actually this practice began. Also we never thought to ask if we were the only ones to entomb our dead in a ritualistic way. There is evidence of our distant cousins Homo neanderthalensis, or Neanderthal, exhibit similar burial practices that we do to this day. Neanderthal sites often have artifacts and possible different burial practices which can means that they have the ability to do ritualistic burials. They are one of the links that may play a huge role in understanding our past, and how our concept of death and the treatment of them began. The topic of burying the dead is a big subject being because it is proof of some higher thought in our ancestors. One of the major questions of human evolution is when we gained the ability to conduct more complex and advance thought. By understanding our past we can have a better understanding of our future. If we understood how our minds developed and formed we may be able to better predict where it is going or at the least understand how our brains came to be up until present day.
