Herbert Hoover Beliefs
Desperate times call for desperate measures, and the peoples support is important is what I have come
up with after reading through these documents. I think all three of the authors made valid points and
maybe some invalid points, as well.
During the difficult time in America s history, several different leaders suggested a multitude of
solutions to the growing crisis; Herbert Hoover wanted decentralized federal government, Franklin
Roosevelt experimented with federal relief and regulation policies, and Huey Long opted for a
socialistic Share the Wealth solution. These three leaders differed with one another in perspective,
purpose, and opinion over the best anticipated outcome of the United States.
Herbert Hoover felt that as a country we needed to stray away from Government power and pride
more on responsibilities as individuals again. He stated that this would put the Government back into
its position as the umpire instead of a player in the economic game. He ... Show more content on

He started his audience with a statement about fear. His statement was, ...let me assert my firm belief
that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. He then hints that all other times the United States had
been in trouble in their national life that a leadership has come up and been supported by the people.
Then, Roosevelt went on to say that this support was essential to victory and that he hoped he could
also get that support. He noticed many people needed to put to work and even proposed the idea that
the Government directly recruit people (like in time of war) and that through the employment the
country would also accomplish projects to reutilize the natural resources. Then, in hopes to keep from
getting in the same boat or in trouble again he thought they needed to implement two safeguards for
strict supervision of all banking and credits and

I Love Monologue
There are places in my heart that are yours alone. In them I linger, thinking of you. As you plunge
your quivering lips into mine, I gasp for my final breath in the softness of your mouth with teardrops
in our kiss. Closing my eyes to this bittersweet suffocation, memories of our first emerge... Your lips
break free from mine, our fingers untwined. I watch you drifting from my touch as you dance into the
night. Your flowered summer dress barely touches you and I envy the glow of streetlights, kissing the
silk of your skin. Midnight breezes rush toward my way as I savour your alluring perfume; my sweet
intoxication. You re my ecstasy. Your whispers caress my addiction. The inviting air of your radiance
evokes my desire to join your melodic waltz within the shadows surrounding us. There s only silence,
yet music still resonates in the tranquillity of night. Our slow dances in darkness are the embraces I ve
longed for, through aeons in space and time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

infinite wonders above could never compare to your beauty. Here in your arms with your gentle breath
upon my face, the rhythm of your heart is my lullaby. I finally understand the place where I belong.

Forms Of Oppressionation Of The Holocaust
Many when discussing the events of genocide often analyze the systems of oppression used against
the targeted groups. These forms of oppression are often systemic and multilateral. When examining
the Holocaust, one of history s, and humanity s, most infamous and darkest moments, we see the
varying forms of oppression in cases such as political censorship in the form of imprisonment of those
who leaned left, economic persecution when their means and standard of living was forcibly taken
from them such as their businesses, houses, and jobs, as well as the forced relocation and deportation
to the ghettos and finally the concentration camps. Many however, do not see the effects of oppression
post genocide, as many could argue that silencing different interpretations and mediums that
memorializing genocide can actually be forms of oppression towards survivors, as their stories and
expression are not utilized when creating the holistic memory of the Holocaust.
The idea of an official narrative of the Holocaust and its memorialization is rooted more closely in its
recall of emotion than in establishing factual and divergent interpretations of experiences, this
constructive forgetting, (Christie, 2) meaning that creating a singular memory narrative of pain and
suffering is more pressing than in attempting to portray divergent and intersectional experiences
during the genocide. While this constrictive forgetting can be very successful in spreading awareness
of the genocide, it can also sometimes ostracize works of memorialization by actual survivors
representation of every victim and survivor s narrative, meaning their own purpose and experience of
the Holocaust can sometimes be sacrificed for the purpose of invoking greater emotion in order to
spread the national consciousness of the gross violations
Case in point, both works examined, Maus: A Survivor s Tale: My Father Bleeds History by Art
Spiegelman and film Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni offer different interpretations that diverge
from the central narrative voice used when memorializing genocide, and as such may be looked down
upon. Maus first began as a serialized comic strip, which employs and is associated with thoughts of
boyhood and adolescence

Essay On Dielectric Materials At C-Nanowires
Flexible nanodielectric materials with a high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss have immense
potential applications in the modern electronic and electric industry. The use of high aspect ratio fillers
is a promising route for achieving high dielectric constant and low loss materials at a low filler volume
fraction. However, the poor filler/matrix interfacial adhesion always imposes difficulties in
suppressing the dielectric loss of the composites, thus significantly limiting the potential of high
aspect ratio fillers in enhancing the dielectric constant of polymer composites. In this study, cable like
structured Ag@C nanowires with high aspect ratio ( 600) were prepared by a facile and
environmentally friendly approach. Because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compared to conventional ceramic based dielectric materials, polymer composites have many
advantages such as good flexibility, easy processability, lightweight, and low cost to meet demands for
miniaturization of microelectronics that has become a mainstream trend in microelectronic industry in
recent years. Thus, flexible polymer composites with a high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss
are highly desired and essential for practical application. In recent years, polymer composites with
dielectric constant have been prepared by two routes. The more traditional route is introducing high
dielectric constant ceramic fillers, such as BaTiO3, Pb(Zr,Ti)O3, and CaCu3Ti4O12 into the polymer
matrix. However, the high loading (usually over 50 vol%) of ceramic fillers required for enhancing
dielectric constant inevitably raises the issues of inhomogeneity and aggregation of the ceramic fillers
in the polymer matrix, deteriorating the characteristics resulting in poor mechanical properties such as
high dielectric loss. Furthermore, the dielectric enhancement is usually low. Another route focuses on
dispersing conductive fillers such as graphene, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), conductive fibers, and metal
particles into the polymer matrix to achieve percolative systems. As the volume fraction of the
conductive fillers increases in the vicinity of the percolation threshold, where the conductive fillers
connect with each other to form a continuous conducting path, the

Utilitarianism, Virtue And Care Ethics
The three ethical theories I will discuss from Chapter 1 include: utilitarianism, virtue and care ethics.
First, the utilitarianism is moral standard and a theory of action by humans that are morally right in
action. Utilitarianism is an action that is morally right if its consequences are more favorable. One
way for businesses , as our reading suggests (Fieser Moseley, 2012), is make a list of all the good and
bad for any particular act. If the good outweighs the bad then that action should occur. If the bad
outweighs the good, then the action should stop. Utilitarianism theory attempts to keep things on the
positive, happier side of the spectrum. A company using this theory is probably functioning well due
to their morale analysis of actions related to safe products, good quality products and customer care, a
fair price, and fair and equal treatment to their employees. In addition, because utilitarianism is a
morale standard, a company would be environmentally conscious and find ways to help the
community and the world. A company would work at making their products in an environmentally
safe way, recycle surplus and make their products within the United States to support the economy. A
company would also look at balancing goods over harm produced to the environment or people.
Lastly, if a company were to be very successful, they should donate some of their proceeds back into
the community (environmentally or local community support) or employees (bonuses,

The Bogota River In Colombia
Talking about the center of Colombia is referring the contrast of mountains and rivers. However, the
Bogota River is the most important river of the landscape of the Altiplano Cundiboyacense. This
hydric source has an indelible mark in the history of the country. During the Pre Columbian era, this
river allowed the Muisca civilization establishment. During the colonial and the republican era of
Colombia, the river permitted the development of several towns. Nevertheless, the has resulted in the
river contamination. Currently, the Bogota River presents unhealthy conditions areas. Studying this
environmental issue requires describing the actors interaction among the river trajectory. Besides that,

The Theme Of Knowledge In Seed By Lisa Heathfield
Seed, a book by Lisa Heathfield, applies the idea that knowledge is power, but ignorance is bliss
through the character development of Pearl, the depth of settings and ambiguity. Seed s narrative
quality explores that knowledge does not always make one influential, however, not acquiring
knowledge is a relieving sensation.
The development of Pearl was highlighted through the narration of the book, explicitly describing how
she felt when Ellis would express his conflicting opinions on Papa S s practices. The narrative of Pearl
conveyed her as an innocent character who was unaware of the good from people outside of her cult,
named Seed. She preferred not to bother herself with teachings other than what Papa S taught the cult.
Nonetheless, her beliefs changed gradually from the appearance of Ellis. He told Pearl about his
experiences outside the cult, which signifies the power he could have with his knowledge. Ellis was
more educated than the children of the cult, therefore, he would ... Show more content on

Pearl s encounter with Papa S shows how uncomfortable she is when he laid on the bed with her when
she said, Papa S touches my arm. And I hate it. (pg. 236 237) The ambiguity of the scene leads the
audience to believe how inappropriate Papa S s actions were. Pearl s point of view during the scene
suggested reflection on Ellis s comment about Papa S corrupt behaviour, causing her to flee from Papa
S. The knowledge of Papa S actions lead her to doubt his guidance which was unsettling and
frightening for Pearl. Her reaction provided perception into how recognising dangerous situations is
significant to her survival and improves awareness rather than being oblivious. Although the narrative
of Pearl provided vague details on the scene, the reader s mind is encouraged to wander and reflect on
what Papa S could have

My First Thoughts Of Buffalo State
My first thoughts of Buffalo State, I had many different ideas on what I should expect. First I was very
excited to step foot in a place that I never been. I love experiencing new places. Considering I never
been to the Buffalo State college or even orientation I expected the best. I figured the campus be
beautiful and very spacy. I researched facts about Buffalo State and I was very surprised to see how
many students attended. I love the fact that the college presented a lot of diversity. I also expected that
the college life would be very social since I asked the former students of Buffalo State about it. Of
course I was a little nervous that there was a little chance that it May not be anything close to what I
expected. The helping hands on the college life I expected would be top notch since there were so
many students living on campus. When I received the letter that I would be attending the EOP
program which I applied for I was very excited. I wasn t really sure exactly what EOP actually was but
I hoped for the best. My mom gave me a brief description on what the program was. I didn t like the
fact that it was three weeks long and the first thing that came to my mind when I heard that was my
summer was coming to an end quite early. I didn t think too negative about it but I hoped that it gave
me all the tips I needed to know about the college and the college life on campus. I like to think
positive and expect positive because it s only right in my mind. When I step

St Vincent de Paul is a non profit organisation that aims at achieving awareness and improving the
lives of those who face social injustice in Australia. These issues include, homelessness, poverty and
asylum seekers (St Vincent de Paul, 2016). This non profit organises many fundraising events
throughout the year as well as having Night Patrol volunteers each night go out into Sydney CBD and
give the homeless food and beverages. Homelessness is a large issue within Australia, as
approximately one in every two hundred people spends the night out on the street (Homelessness

Drug Use And Substance Use Disorder Patients
The Unites States is at an epidemic status with substance use disorder patients. There are many
reasons to why we all should be concerned as a nation; however, this very problem is an essential
topic globally. 230 million drug users are found worldwide and 19.9 million of those are Americans
that have used illicit drugs in the year 2007 alone (as cited in Michael s House, n.d); Furthermore,
America makes up 4 percent of the global population and our nation manages to occupy two third of
the illegal drug use worldwide (as cited in Buggle, 2013). The National Institute on Drugs (NIH)
(2011) cited 1.8 million people in the year 2008 admissions were from alcohol and drug use disorder.
Ages greater than 11 years old was implicated in the 23.5 million People seeking substance use
disorder treatment from illicit drug or alcohol in the year 2009. The greatest need for treatment was
leaded by alcohol use with a 41.4 percent, drug related admissions by 20 percent was followed by
heroin and other opiates, and 17 percent was related to Marijuana used in the year 2008 (National
Institute on Drug Abuse, 2011). Men are at a higher rate of substance use disorder than women.
African Americans are at the highest risk of developing substance use disorder as indicated by the

Christian Symbolism and Chivalric Ideals in Sir Gawain and...
Upon first Reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I noticed that it comes off as a romantic
normative poem about chivalric ideals and traditions of the ruling class with covertly Christian
Images. The protagonist character Sir Gawain stands out as the role model of the chivalric ideals of
the 14th century while displaying Christian images on his armor. The combination of Gawain s armor
and actions throughout the poem exemplify his characteristics of Christian perfection and chivalric
ideals. The very first scene with Bertilak of Hautdesert known as the Green Knight begins to mold
your perception of how chivalrous Sir Gawain is by portraying him as valiant, humble, and virtuous
knight to Arthur. I felt that the interruption of Arthur ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the armor without the pentangle had a religious importance in medieval literature because to be
adorned in armor was to be strengthened in the lord, in the might of his power ... [and with] the armor
of God that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil (Green 126), which comes into
play when Bertilak s wife tries to seduce Gawain. In this instance Bertilak is representative of the
devil and he is using his wife to test Gawain to see if he would commit sodomy and break his religious
and knightly code. This scene is extremely important since he has been divested of his armor, relived
of his helmet, horse and his coat (Ashton 60), basically everything physical that reminds him of his
faith. However, even without his armor being a constant reminder of his faith and honor he proves he
is truly faithful and chivalrous by turning down Bertilak s wife. To get a better understanding of the
meaning and importance of the pentangle we must analyze the author s description of the meaning of
it or lack thereof. The author does give examples of the meanings of the symbol being explained as
Gawain being faithful in five ways which he describes. However, the author doesn t tell us what he
means when he talks about the things we call meaning (Arthur 221), this gives the assumption that
either at the time readers would have already known the meaning in the time period it was

Immersion In Art Realism
In the beginning video games such as Spacewar! (1962) started with little to no graphics displayed on
small black and white oscilloscope screens. As technology in video games improves so does our
ability to display larger more detailed graphics and images, leading to beautiful hand drawn and
animated games such as Dark Stalkers (Capcom 1994) and Lori and the blind forest (Moon Studios
2015). Along with this improvement in technology and graphics, the search for more immersive
experiences has also grown whether it be the NES Power Glove (1989), Battle Tech centres (1990) or
the HTC VIVE (2016) the game industry wants to take the immersion that one step further. But how
important is realistic visual representation to the flow of a game? Csikszentmihalyi believed that there
are eight elements of flow within video games; a task that can be completed, the ability to concentrate,
clear goals, immediate feedback, a sense of control, player skill matching challenge, self concern
disappears, sense of time being altered. The aesthetics within video games don t seem to effect any of
the elements Csikszentmihalyi has given us and yet we strive for bigger and better graphical
experiences to increase the realism of our gameplay.
Immersion in art Realism was broadly considered the beginning of modern art due to the belief that
everyday life and the world around us was a suitable subject for artists who wished to portray the truth
within our society. Unfortunately when photography

The Roles Of Male And Women In The Victorian Era
In today s era both males and females being seen as equals is a widely accepted belief; however, in the
Victorian era this thought would be laugh at. In fact, men were viewed far more superior to women.
Where as, the men were put on a pedestal the women seemed to have little to no use. Although,
women only had a few tasks to accomplish in life, what she was tasked with was highly expected of
her. These were things such as do not be a burden, act as expected, marry well, and have a son.
In the beginning, of a girls life if she had hope to live the average life span she would have to beat the
unruly high death rates for females. Despite the fact that all children, in any social classes, were a
mouth to be fed, they were still a potential source to help the family prosper. This however, did not
stop parents from malnourishing their daughters so their sons may live or giving far less access to
many essentials, such as clean bathing water. This lead to the daughters also being prone to infections.
If that or other accidents did not kill the girls; however, some time the families would result to outright
killing their own daughters. On the other hand if the girls lived through their early years they would be
groomed for something specific in life. It was more often than not up to their parents to decide what

Transfer File Using TCP Protocol And Socket Programing
The purpose of this project is to implement application that can transfer file using TCP protocol and
socket programing. The application should be able to perform six main function. The client should be
able to upload files to and downloads from the server. In addition, server should be able to change the
directory as per client request and list the files in each directory by the client. Also, a unique PDU type
was used in this implementation. The PDU contains 3 block such as type, length, and data. The two
main technology used for this implementation of the file transfer application were TCP and socket
programing. Socket programing is technique to connect two points on a network to communicate and

TCP also controls how the application data should be brake down into packets when the data is too
large to send, so the network can transfer between the serve and the client. Moreover, TCP also
manages the flow control between the server and the client by providing the error free data
transmission and handle the retransmission of dropped or distorted packets as well as
acknowledgement of all packets that arrive. Implementation As it was mention above, this file
transferring application implemented by using TCP and socket programing. In this project, the client
server model is used to demonstrate the application. First, the system establishes a TCP socket on the
client side by using the socket function. The next step is to connect the created socket to the address of
the server using the connect() function. Since the connection is established between server and the
client now, the client can do read or write operation using read(), write() function. Finally, it will end
the connection with the server by using close() function. In other hand, server will also flow similar
steps to establish a TCP socket with the client. Firstly, it will also create a socket using socket()
function. Then, it will bind the socket to a client s address using bind() function and will keep Liston
for a connection request from the client side using listen() function. When it gets a request from the
client, it will accept the

The Impact of Information Technology Infrastructure Flexibility on
Strategic Alignment and Applications Implementation
Abstract ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
II. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
We develop our theoretical framework by first reviewing definitions of IT infrastructure and its
components. We then define the concept of IT infrastructure flexibility and its relationship to strategic
IT business alignment and to applications implementation in the organization.
Information Technology Infrastructure
The topic of IT infrastructure has been a key issue for both researchers and practicing managers for
some time [see e.g., Brancheau, Janz, Wetherbe, 1996]. The organization s IT infrastructure basically
integrates technology components to support business needs but the IT infrastructure concept is more
complicated. The definition of IT infrastructure encompasses a variety of components. Based on
previous studies, Duncan [1995] stated that IT infrastructure includes a group of shared, tangible IT
resources that provide a foundation to enable present and future business applications [Broadbent
Weill, 1997; Davenport Linder, 1994; Earl, 1989; Keen, 1991; McKay Brockway, 1989; Niederman,
Brancheau, Wetherbe, 1991; Weill, 1993]. These resources include: (1) computer hardware and
software (e.g., operating systems); (2) network and telecommunications technologies; (3) key data; (4)
core data processing applications; (5) shared IT services. Duncan [1995] also stated that IT
infrastructure includes the alignment of IT plans to business objectives, the IT

Essay about Folic Acid Supplementation and Pregnancy
Scope of the Research Proposal
The purpose of this study is to analyze the preventative effects of folic acid supplementation during
preconception and pregnancy in women. Folic acid supplementation is a standard recommendation
among a variety of vitamins and minerals during preconception and is said to prevent congenital
defects, primarily neural tube defects in children. However, various studies suggest that folic acid
supplementation is not directly correlated with the prevention of neural tube defects, but other factors
such as socioeconomic status, healthcare, and education come into play (Banhidy, 2011). The use of
folic acid to prevent neural tube defects is widely accepted and recommended by health professionals
and researchers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the weakness of the study was that the mothers were not picked at random and some were
voluntary participants. This factor may have affected the study since the volunteer mothers may have
practiced healthy behaviors prior to the data collection, such as prenatal care and avoiding unhealthy
lifestyle habits. With these factors, it is unclear if FA supplementation has a direct impact on the
lowered risk of NTDs (Li, et al., 2013). Another study analyzed a different portion of FA
supplementation effects. The preventative effects of FA supplementation were evaluated and
estimated. Pregnant women with malformed fetuses and women who had healthy babies, with or
without FA supplementation, were studied. Based on the data that was gathered, the assumed
beneficial effects of supplementation against congenital abnormalities are clear, but other factors may
have a role in the perceived effects. It was concluded that FA supplementation in women before
pregnancy lowers the risk of congenital abnormalities, but socioeconomic status and medical care
were not taken into account during the study, possibly skewing the results (Banhidy, et al., 2011).
Other studies found very similar results in terms of lowered risk of congenital abnormalities with FA
supplementation. A study reported that FA supplementation in early pregnancy reduces the risk of

Lying To Parents Among Adolescents
1. I found this source by logging into MavZone and registering my account, which was a horrible
experience. I went to the Tomlinson Library on the CMU website and under the article tab I typed in
the keywords lying to parents . There were other articles that came up talking about the researched
effects of parents lying to kids and such but this source addressed the fact that lying is a part of life,
but when is it acceptable is the real question.
2. The article The Right To Do Wrong: Lying to Parents Among Adolescents and Emerging Adults is
about the capability of a kids/ emerging adults to lie to their parents. They found that the kids ability to
lie and their acceptance of lying was different according to the circumstances in which they

The Last Supper Painting Comparison
Comparing and contrasting is a very simply thing to do, you take two images or structures and you
look at them side by side. You look at every detail the artist has put into the image and then you see
what one image has that the other does no. Then you look at what they both have in common.
Depending on the artists, you may find many similarities and differences, or you might not find any. In
the two images The Last Supper and Interior I found a variety of similarities and differences. To start
with, there are many differences in these two pieces of work. First, the artist are different. If you were
to study both artist you would understand that they have different techniques. Leonardo da Vinci was
alive during the 14th and 15th century. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another difference is the time period the painting were created. The Last Supper was painted in 1495
1497, long before any of us were thought of. Interior was painting in 1981, this was around the same
time our older siblings were being brought up or even some of our parents. There is about 484 years
between when each painting was painted. The next difference in the two pieces is the subject. In The
Last Supper the subject is easy to spot, Jesus is right in the middle of the painting for all eyes to be on
him. If you look up the meaning behind the painting you begin to understand why da Vinci created
this piece in the first place. The Last Supper was the last supper Christ had with his Apostles in
Jerusalem before he was crucified. I feel like the meaning has a lot to do with the subject. As you read
more into paintings history, you understand more about that painting. Interior has a while different
subject, but it might not be easy to spot at first. You have to do more research to find out the subject.
The painting is a copy of Adolf Hitler s office of state. I believe that the subject is the fire in the
middle of the room. The reasoning for the first in the room is said to be an

Albert Fish And What Fueled This Gruesome Behavior
The Disturbed Life of Albert Fish and What Fueled This Gruesome Behavior Albert Fish was born and
raised in Washington, D.C. on May 19th, 1870, to his parents Randall, and Ellen. Fish s father was
American, and his mother was Irish American. His father was forty three years older than his mother,
and was seventy five at the time of fishes birth. Albert was the youngest child of three siblings: Annie,
Walter, and Edwin. He wanted to be named after a dead sibling to escape from the given nickname
Ham Eggs which was given to him at St. John Orphanage where, he spent most of his childhood. The
family had a history of mental illness. His mother suffered from visual hallucinations, his brother was
in a mental hospital, his sister was diagnosed with mental illness, and uncle suffered from mania. Fish
s father was a boat captain and a fertilizer manufacturer. He soon died of a heart attack in 1875 at the
Sixth Street Station of the Pennsylvania Railroad in Washington, D.C. ( Blanco, 2017) Once Ellen,
mother found out she put her son in Saint John s Orphanage in Washington, which he was constantly
mistreated and abused. He was so used to the frequent beatings he found pleasure in physical pain.
While living at the orphanage, Fish remarked, I was there til I was nearly nine, and that s where I got

Notes On Sherlock Holmes And The Scientific Community
Within the scientific community some people believe that you cannot have a scientific mind and hold
to religious beliefs (p. 87). They come to this assumption because they see religious faith as a form of
mental illness, which is limited to a certain population (religious people only) (p. 72).2 When
reasoning logically one most understand that not all things can be proven wrong or right. Sometimes
things do not lend themselves to a right or a wrong answer. However a person can see where a line of
thought leads too, which delivers a person to a certain conclusion even though it may not be a right or
wrong.
Every mystery and caper that Sherlock Holmes solved he credited it to deduction or elementary logic.

An endless series of causes and events does not make sense. This would mean a continual causal loop
which cannot exist, nor could a causal chain of infinite length exist without there being something to
first cause the loop to begin. This would require some kind of unrestricted or ultimate being which we
Christians and some philosophers call God.
The Apostle Paul speaks about natural revelation in Romans 1:20 and Albert Einstein alludes to
natural revelation3 when he says, I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but
expressed it clearly. If there is something in me called religious then it is the unbounded admiration
for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it. With natural revelation we see that one
can logically construct the belief in a God by simply observing the things present in nature.
The prevalent acceptance that the universe had a chronological origin meaningfully shifted the stance
in favor of belief in a first cause or an intelligent designer of the universe, which caused the universe
to appear (Pg. 84).2 Many scientist hold to the theory that the universe is continually moving out away
from a central focus point. What is this central focal point? Christians can point to this being the
creator or the creation form which God created the universe Ex nihilo.

The Characteristics Of Narcissism
INTRODUCTION
Being attractive is a mandatory virtue for any individual, considering the fact that the media today
heavily influences us to an extent that certain physical features are fantasized to devalue those of other
physiques. As subjective as it is, the perception of beauty is a controversial phenomenon. Dionne and
Davis (2012) believed that personality is a lens through which this view [perception of beauty] is
filtered and this lens of personality can also serve to bias the judgments we make about body size and
shape and the consequences of these judgments on self worth (italics added).
Narcissism
To what owes such judgment on this particular subject lies rather under one s personality. Such
complexity is introduced as narcissism; a term defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders in 1987 in their third and revised edition a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in
fantasy and behavior), lack of empathy, and hypersensitivity to the evaluation of others, beginning by
early adulthood and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Morf and Rhodewalt (2001) believed that self affirmation has a significant impact on how a narcissist
is born. When self needs were not met in childhood, they would seek to achieve them in their later
relationship, causing it to be imbued with hostility and mistrust (Morf Rhodewalt, 2001). Likewise,
Patricia described herself as not good enough for her parents and thus, reacted with enraged when
criticized or treated badly ; of which this behavior was seen under high angry hostility (Corbitt, 2002).
In addition, a narcissist also exhibits grandiosity and self importance repetitively (Morf Rhodewalt,
2001). Such selfishness was evident when Patricia showed lack of empathy for other employees to be
in charge of an unpleasant job that she was first assigned to (Corbitt,

variable: marketing campaign and the dependent: brand loyalty. From the table IV was shown the

quality, and brand association as the independent variable into the equation. The second model is

We concluded that perceived quality is the most significant dimension for creating brand loyalty,
followed by brand association and brand awareness. The low cost airline should plan marketing
strategies and allocate marketing investments and focusing on perceived quality first and has the
highest priority to build the customer loyalty which, it will affect to increasing the profit and market
share. It means the brand has a competitive advantage and be the leader in the market. However, the
low cost airline must produce their product and service with the best quality and make diverse
marketing strategies for creating a brand association especially the good image of the airline and
consumers recognize the airline name depends on creating awareness to arise in the consumers mind.
Thus, the airline should always investigate brand equity dimensions for building a strong low cost
airline brand in Thailand market. Further research should focus on other variables such as emotional
branding, brand performance, brand preference and brand identity because they might have a
significant influence on low cost airline market share in

Real Estate Debate
Probate real estate investing refers to purchasing property from estates held in probate. When a person
dies all of their assets, including real estate, are transferred to probate. Depending on the complexities
and circumstances, probate can last between six months to three years. If the decedent has an
outstanding mortgage on their real estate holdings, the estate is responsible for making payments.
Insurance, taxes and utilities must be paid through the estate, as well as property maintenance. Probate
real estate investing provides an option to beneficiaries who are struggling to make ends meet. This is
particularly true for estates which are managed by a probate executor who resides out of town.

Many sellers/buyers that have had bad experiences with amateur real estate agents have the
conceptions that all agents are the same. I have compiled this list on the best actions you should
perform before hiring any agent. 1.Real estate agents and Realtors are not the same. Realtors are
licensed to sell properties by the national association of Realtors (NAR). Realtors also have to sign a
list of 17 articles containing the standards of practice they must follow making them slightly more
trustworthy than a real estate agent. 2. Ask people in your neighborhood for recommendations, if you
have any friends that have recently moved in a new house ask them about their experience with their
agent. Client testimonials can be one of the best ways to find out information about your agent. You
can also ask your previous real estate agents for referrals, agents usually connect with each other
which means that they know which ones are the best in the business. 3. Take your time before you
select which agent you want to hire, choosing your agent s in a haste can be a big mistake. Many
people make the mistake that when they are looking for fast sale they hire the first real estate agent
they can find thinking it would save them some time, this conceptions is very wrong as many real
estate agents take months to sell a property. 5. You must also sense

The History of the Hudson Bay Company
Fur trading started between the Europeans along with the Aboriginals when the most valuable beaver
pelts was a substituted for metal and clothing goods such as iron knives and axis, copper kettles,
blankets and trinkets. The beaver pelts were well desired by the Europeans for the reason that using
this fur for headgear provided an elegant way to keep dry. However these pelts were for fashion, as
men and women could be instantly noted within the social hierarchy by according to their beaver hats.
It was so valuable that the sand on the floor was filtered to save every hair that has fallen off. For the
Europeans, captivating advantages of the rich furs from the Indians in the New World was a major
factor in generating handsome profits, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the two adventurers arrived back to Quebec, they discovered something that wasn t on their
mind. This first attempt on escalating their fur trade enterprise was shattered As their first struggle, the
governor denied the men permission to continue their exploration, mainly frightened that the voyage
would shift the focus away from the St. Lawrence. In doing so the governor of New France, Marquis d
Argenson, seized 90% of the furs as taxes and fines! The punishment was activated because the two
men had violated the law for fur trading without a license. Not only did the confiscation of their pelts
were taken place, but they even jailed des Groseilliers! The anger was felt by the gentlemen and once
Groseilliers was freed, the two left the colony. During the next three years the two men tried their best
at persuading Boston clients to fund voyages to Hudson Bay. Their luck finally approached when their
idea of rising demand for furs into Hudson Bay attracted the attention of Colonel George Cartwright.
Cartwright was in New England to extract taxes from the new colony when he heard this opportunity
from Groseilliers and Radisson. He urged the two gentlemen to travel with him to England to seek
sponsorship. The coureur de bois heard many tales that the Cree nation (west of Lake Superior) had
valuable rich furs and they knew the best way to get these

Sandra Harding s Science And Social Inequality
A Review of Sandra Harding s Science and Social Inequality
In Science and Social Inequality, Sandra Harding argues that both the philosophy and practices of
modern Western science ultimately function to advance global social inequalities. Drawing on
feminist, postcolonialist, multicultural, and antiracist critiques of Western science, Harding supports
this argument and exposes the ways in which modern Western science engenders social injustices
particularly within the contexts of militarism, environmental destruction, and Western expansion.
Through the nuanced and multilayered review and analysis of these critiques, Harding proposes ways
to re conceptualize the sciences and formulates a persuasive case for the emergence of feminist,
practice focused philosophies of science.
Science and Social Inequality is divided into two sections; this paper will examine the structural
organization of Harding s text with particular attention to how the initial section supports her proposed
reconceptualization of the sciences on a global scale. My aim is to review themes and key points of
the text in order to evaluate the case Harding presents for the utility and necessity of a postcolonial,
feminist science studies.
Part I: The Social World of Scientific Research
The first part of Sandra Harding s Science and Social Inequality is comprised of 6 chapters that situate
science firmly within the social and political world and ultimately serve to question the outcomes of
its research

were injured. At 8:50 am on July 7, 2005, explosions tore through three trains on the London
Underground, killing 39 people. An hour later 13 people were killed when a bomb detonated on the
upper deck of a bus in Tavistock Square. More than 700 people were injured in the four attacks. The
bombings quickly shattered the joy that had accompanied the announcement the previous day that the
International Olympic Committee had awarded London the 2012 Summer Games. In response, the
London Underground was closed in central London and thousands of hours of footage from London s
ubiquitous closed circuit televisions were scanned for evidence. In the initial

Analysis Of The Arguments For Atheism
Theism or Atheism
By Sam Heney
This essay will discuss some of the arguments for theism and will rebutt them from an atheist s point
of view. Atheism is simply the rejection of the belief in the existence of deities whereas theism is the
opposite. There have been indications of theism stretching back to very early Homo sapiens with
evidence of rituals and superstitions. The dead were buried ceremoniously showing the belief in some
kind of afterlife. Atheism is seemingly a lot more uncommon throughout history with very little
evidence of our ancient ancestors ever lacking some kind of belief in a higher presence. This debate
has been going mainly since the Renaissance period but made great progress after the first and second
world wars. Between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would write this essay with arguments for atheism but that would be counter productive as the entire
point of theism is that it is suggesting the existence of a deity and therefore it is a theist s burden to
provide evidence and/or proof of the deity s existence. Presented in this essay are four of some of the
most commonly used arguments for theism (not including arguments that rely purely on faith) and
rebuttals to each argument.
Firstly I will introduce a very popular argument for theism is that there can not be a causeless cause;
someone must have caused the universe to come into existence. Of course the natural response to this
is to ask; who caused God to come into existence? This argument is obviously internally inconsistent.
Next I will put forth an argument for theism known as the Argument from Design . This common
argument suggests that complex things such as watches and televisions are created by intelligent
people. Surely the intricacy of life spawning from simple DNA, as well as the other examples of
complexity in the universe also imply the influence of an intelligence? A rebuttal to this argument
would be that god is certainly complex, so who created him? If one says that he has always existed,
then why can t one instead say that the universe (and life) have always existed? Besides, there are
clear examples of lackluster design in nature. For example the human eye has a blind spot when it
could have been designed like the squid s (that doesn t have

Muslim Group Synthesis Essay
It is hard to imagine a Western society fearing another group of people such as the Jews or Muslims.
Democracy or liberals, are supposed to be champions of minority rights, cultural diversity and civic as
opposed to ethnic nationalism (Parekh, p.5). Instead they are threatening by these groups. The fear the
West shows is a fear of misguidance. They start to see the Muslim make demands of their government
for appropriate for themselves and their children such as hala meat, facilities for prayer, and schools to
teach their children about their history and cultural (Parekh, p.7). Why does this seem so bad? Jews
and Christians both have houses of worship and should we not give the Muslim group one. Also like
the Muslims the Jews also eat hala meat but they call it Kosher. On the issue of the private school, if

This has made other Western states wonder about their own Muslim problem and whether or not
Muslim have now become a source of public anxiety. In Europe, where states have traditionally seen
themselves as nation states based on homogeneous national culture are now dealing with the mass
insurgent of Muslim refugees from the middle east and they need a way to deal with this problem
(Parekh, p.7). Citied earlier in the essay, France passed a veil law that prohibited the use of the hijabs
or any kind veil; this was a sort of assimilation by the French government. In Britain they opted for
integration, in the Netherlands they are using multiculturalism as a way to break the barrels between
the Muslims in their society, and finally other nations have tried one or two of the other models
mentioned in order to deal with their Muslim problem (Parekh,p.7). Even if these states begin to
integrate, assimilate, and even use any other form of system. It will take time and slow

INTRODUCTION Effective Communication is significant for managers in the organizations so as to
perform the basic functions of management, i.e., Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling.
Communication helps managers to perform their jobs and responsibilities. Communication serves as a
foundation for planning. All the essential information must be communicated to the managers who in
turn must communicate the plans so as to implement them. Organizing also requires effective
communication with others about their job task. Similarly leaders as managers must communicate

Any change in plans might be communicated with the employees in advance so that resistance may
not come from them. Communication helps the organization in this regard by supplying information to
the employee. CHARACTERISTICS OF COMMUNICATIONS: Segmented: Even in small
organizations, it is wrong to assume that all employees will have the same needs, interests and desires
when it comes to business communication. Effective business communication is segmented to meet
the needs of specific audiences. Employees working in an administrative setting, for instance, will
have different needs and different access to information than employees working in a manufacturing
environment. Specific: Generic business communication doesn t meet the needs of anyone. Effective
business communication is specific. The more specific communication is, the more it meets the needs
of its audience. Accurate: When information is inaccurate it loses its credibility. The sender of the
information also loses credibility. Effective business communication is accurate in terms of the content
conveyed and in terms of simple things that include grammar, spelling and punctuation. Timely:
Employees need to know what is going on in their organizations and in the external environment that
impacts them. Today s technology driven environment makes it more challenging than ever before for
businesses to communicate with employees in a timely manner,

  • 2. Herbert Hoover Beliefs Desperate times call for desperate measures, and the peoples support is important is what I have come up with after reading through these documents. I think all three of the authors made valid points and maybe some invalid points, as well. During the difficult time in America s history, several different leaders suggested a multitude of solutions to the growing crisis; Herbert Hoover wanted decentralized federal government, Franklin Roosevelt experimented with federal relief and regulation policies, and Huey Long opted for a socialistic Share the Wealth solution. These three leaders differed with one another in perspective, purpose, and opinion over the best anticipated outcome of the United States. Herbert Hoover felt that as a country we needed to stray away from Government power and pride more on responsibilities as individuals again. He stated that this would put the Government back into its position as the umpire instead of a player in the economic game. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He started his audience with a statement about fear. His statement was, ...let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. He then hints that all other times the United States had been in trouble in their national life that a leadership has come up and been supported by the people. Then, Roosevelt went on to say that this support was essential to victory and that he hoped he could also get that support. He noticed many people needed to put to work and even proposed the idea that the Government directly recruit people (like in time of war) and that through the employment the country would also accomplish projects to reutilize the natural resources. Then, in hopes to keep from getting in the same boat or in trouble again he thought they needed to implement two safeguards for strict supervision of all banking and credits and ... Your flowered summer dress barely touches you and I envy the glow of streetlights, kissing the silk of your skin. Midnight breezes rush toward my way as I savour your alluring perfume; my sweet intoxication. You re my ecstasy. Your whispers caress my addiction. • 5. Forms Of Oppressionation Of The Holocaust Many when discussing the events of genocide often analyze the systems of oppression used against the targeted groups. These forms of oppression are often systemic and multilateral. When examining the Holocaust, one of history s, and humanity s, most infamous and darkest moments, we see the varying forms of oppression in cases such as political censorship in the form of imprisonment of those who leaned left, economic persecution when their means and standard of living was forcibly taken from them such as their businesses, houses, and jobs, as well as the forced relocation and deportation to the ghettos and finally the concentration camps. Many however, do not see the effects of oppression post genocide, as many could argue that silencing different interpretations and mediums that memorializing genocide can actually be forms of oppression towards survivors, as their stories and expression are not utilized when creating the holistic memory of the Holocaust. The idea of an official narrative of the Holocaust and its memorialization is rooted more closely in its recall of emotion than in establishing factual and divergent interpretations of experiences, this constructive forgetting, (Christie, 2) meaning that creating a singular memory narrative of pain and suffering is more pressing than in attempting to portray divergent and intersectional experiences during the genocide. While this constrictive forgetting can be very successful in spreading awareness of the genocide, it can also sometimes ostracize works of memorialization by actual survivors representation of every victim and survivor s narrative, meaning their own purpose and experience of the Holocaust can sometimes be sacrificed for the purpose of invoking greater emotion in order to spread the national consciousness of the gross violations Case in point, both works examined, Maus: A Survivor s Tale: My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman and film Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni offer different interpretations that diverge from the central narrative voice used when memorializing genocide, and as such may be looked down upon. Maus first began as a serialized comic strip, which employs and is associated with thoughts of boyhood and adolescence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay On Dielectric Materials At C-Nanowires Flexible nanodielectric materials with a high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss have immense potential applications in the modern electronic and electric industry. The use of high aspect ratio fillers is a promising route for achieving high dielectric constant and low loss materials at a low filler volume fraction. However, the poor filler/matrix interfacial adhesion always imposes difficulties in suppressing the dielectric loss of the composites, thus significantly limiting the potential of high aspect ratio fillers in enhancing the dielectric constant of polymer composites. In this study, cable like structured Ag@C nanowires with high aspect ratio ( 600) were prepared by a facile and environmentally friendly approach. Because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Compared to conventional ceramic based dielectric materials, polymer composites have many advantages such as good flexibility, easy processability, lightweight, and low cost to meet demands for miniaturization of microelectronics that has become a mainstream trend in microelectronic industry in recent years. Thus, flexible polymer composites with a high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss are highly desired and essential for practical application. In recent years, polymer composites with dielectric constant have been prepared by two routes. The more traditional route is introducing high dielectric constant ceramic fillers, such as BaTiO3, Pb(Zr,Ti)O3, and CaCu3Ti4O12 into the polymer matrix. However, the high loading (usually over 50 vol%) of ceramic fillers required for enhancing dielectric constant inevitably raises the issues of inhomogeneity and aggregation of the ceramic fillers in the polymer matrix, deteriorating the characteristics resulting in poor mechanical properties such as high dielectric loss. Furthermore, the dielectric enhancement is usually low. Another route focuses on dispersing conductive fillers such as graphene, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), conductive fibers, and metal particles into the polymer matrix to achieve percolative systems. As the volume fraction of the conductive fillers increases in the vicinity of the percolation threshold, where the conductive fillers connect with each other to form a continuous conducting path, the ... • 8. Utilitarianism, Virtue And Care Ethics The three ethical theories I will discuss from Chapter 1 include: utilitarianism, virtue and care ethics. First, the utilitarianism is moral standard and a theory of action by humans that are morally right in action. Utilitarianism is an action that is morally right if its consequences are more favorable. One way for businesses , as our reading suggests (Fieser Moseley, 2012), is make a list of all the good and bad for any particular act. If the good outweighs the bad then that action should occur. If the bad outweighs the good, then the action should stop. Utilitarianism theory attempts to keep things on the positive, happier side of the spectrum. A company using this theory is probably functioning well due to their morale analysis of actions related to safe products, good quality products and customer care, a fair price, and fair and equal treatment to their employees. In addition, because utilitarianism is a morale standard, a company would be environmentally conscious and find ways to help the community and the world. A company would work at making their products in an environmentally safe way, recycle surplus and make their products within the United States to support the economy. A company would also look at balancing goods over harm produced to the environment or people. Lastly, if a company were to be very successful, they should donate some of their proceeds back into the community (environmentally or local community support) or employees (bonuses, ... • 10. The Theme Of Knowledge In Seed By Lisa Heathfield Seed, a book by Lisa Heathfield, applies the idea that knowledge is power, but ignorance is bliss through the character development of Pearl, the depth of settings and ambiguity. Seed s narrative quality explores that knowledge does not always make one influential, however, not acquiring knowledge is a relieving sensation. The development of Pearl was highlighted through the narration of the book, explicitly describing how she felt when Ellis would express his conflicting opinions on Papa S s practices. The narrative of Pearl conveyed her as an innocent character who was unaware of the good from people outside of her cult, named Seed. She preferred not to bother herself with teachings other than what Papa S taught the cult. Nonetheless, her beliefs changed gradually from the appearance of Ellis. He told Pearl about his experiences outside the cult, which signifies the power he could have with his knowledge. Ellis was more educated than the children of the cult, therefore, he would ... • 14. Christian Symbolism and Chivalric Ideals in Sir Gawain and... Upon first Reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I noticed that it comes off as a romantic normative poem about chivalric ideals and traditions of the ruling class with covertly Christian Images. The protagonist character Sir Gawain stands out as the role model of the chivalric ideals of the 14th century while displaying Christian images on his armor. The combination of Gawain s armor and actions throughout the poem exemplify his characteristics of Christian perfection and chivalric ideals. The very first scene with Bertilak of Hautdesert known as the Green Knight begins to mold your perception of how chivalrous Sir Gawain is by portraying him as valiant, humble, and virtuous knight to Arthur. [and with] the armor of God that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil (Green 126), which comes into play when Bertilak s wife tries to seduce Gawain. In this instance Bertilak is representative of the devil and he is using his wife to test Gawain to see if he would commit sodomy and break his religious and knightly code. This scene is extremely important since he has been divested of his armor, relived of his helmet, horse and his coat (Ashton 60), basically everything physical that reminds him of his faith. However, even without his armor being a constant reminder of his faith and honor he proves he is truly faithful and chivalrous by turning down Bertilak s wife. To get a better understanding of the meaning and importance of the pentangle we must analyze the author s description of the meaning of it or lack thereof. The author does give examples of the meanings of the symbol being explained as Gawain being faithful in five ways which he describes. • 15. Immersion In Art Realism In the beginning video games such as Spacewar! (1962) started with little to no graphics displayed on small black and white oscilloscope screens. As technology in video games improves so does our ability to display larger more detailed graphics and images, leading to beautiful hand drawn and animated games such as Dark Stalkers (Capcom 1994) and Lori and the blind forest (Moon Studios 2015). Along with this improvement in technology and graphics, the search for more immersive experiences has also grown whether it be the NES Power Glove (1989), Battle Tech centres (1990) or the HTC VIVE (2016) the game industry wants to take the immersion that one step further. But how important is realistic visual representation to the flow of a game? Csikszentmihalyi believed that there are eight elements of flow within video games; a task that can be completed, the ability to concentrate, clear goals, immediate feedback, a sense of control, player skill matching challenge, self concern disappears, sense of time being altered. The aesthetics within video games don t seem to effect any of the elements Csikszentmihalyi has given us and yet we strive for bigger and better graphical experiences to increase the realism of our gameplay. The Roles Of Male And Women In The Victorian Era In today s era both males and females being seen as equals is a widely accepted belief; however, in the Victorian era this thought would be laugh at. In fact, men were viewed far more superior to women. Where as, the men were put on a pedestal the women seemed to have little to no use. Although, women only had a few tasks to accomplish in life, what she was tasked with was highly expected of her. These were things such as do not be a burden, act as expected, marry well, and have a son. In the beginning, of a girls life if she had hope to live the average life span she would have to beat the unruly high death rates for females. Despite the fact that all children, in any social classes, were a mouth to be fed, they were still a potential source to help the family prosper. This however, did not stop parents from malnourishing their daughters so their sons may live or giving far less access to many essentials, such as clean bathing water. This lead to the daughters also being prone to infections. If that or other accidents did not kill the girls; however, some time the families would result to outright killing their own daughters. On the other hand if the girls lived through their early years they would be groomed for something specific in life. It was more often than not up to their parents to decide what they would be ... The application should be able to perform six main function. The client should be able to upload files to and downloads from the server. In addition, server should be able to change the directory as per client request and list the files in each directory by the client. Also, a unique PDU type was used in this implementation. Implementation As it was mention above, this file transferring application implemented by using TCP and socket programing. In this project, the client server model is used to demonstrate the application. First, the system establishes a TCP socket on the client side by using the socket function. The next step is to connect the created socket to the address of the server using the connect() function. Since the connection is established between server and the client now, the client can do read or write operation using read(), write() function. Finally, it will end the connection with the server by using close() function. In other hand, server will also flow similar steps to establish a TCP socket with the client. There are many heroes, known and unknown, in today s world that share one thing in common, the hero monomyth. As I analyze the movie, The Avengers, using Campbell s monomyth stages, there are several of Campbell s ideas that are seen throughout the storyline. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... II. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK We develop our theoretical framework by first reviewing definitions of IT infrastructure and its components. We then define the concept of IT infrastructure flexibility and its relationship to strategic IT business alignment and to applications implementation in the organization. Information Technology Infrastructure The topic of IT infrastructure has been a key issue for both researchers and practicing managers for some time [see e.g., Brancheau, Janz, Wetherbe, 1996]. The organization s IT infrastructure basically integrates technology components to support business needs but the IT infrastructure concept is more complicated. The definition of IT infrastructure encompasses a variety of components. Based on previous studies, Duncan [1995] stated that IT infrastructure includes a group of shared, tangible IT resources that provide a foundation to enable present and future business applications [Broadbent Weill, 1997; Davenport Linder, 1994; Earl, 1989; Keen, 1991; McKay Brockway, 1989; Niederman, Brancheau, Wetherbe, 1991; Weill, 1993]. Folic acid supplementation is a standard recommendation among a variety of vitamins and minerals during preconception and is said to prevent congenital defects, primarily neural tube defects in children. However, various studies suggest that folic acid supplementation is not directly correlated with the prevention of neural tube defects, but other factors such as socioeconomic status, healthcare, and education come into play (Banhidy, 2011). However, the weakness of the study was that the mothers were not picked at random and some were voluntary participants. This factor may have affected the study since the volunteer mothers may have practiced healthy behaviors prior to the data collection, such as prenatal care and avoiding unhealthy lifestyle habits. With these factors, it is unclear if FA supplementation has a direct impact on the lowered risk of NTDs (Li, et al., 2013). Another study analyzed a different portion of FA supplementation effects. The preventative effects of FA supplementation were evaluated and estimated. Pregnant women with malformed fetuses and women who had healthy babies, with or without FA supplementation, were studied. Based on the data that was gathered, the assumed beneficial effects of supplementation against congenital abnormalities are clear, but other factors may have a role in the perceived effects. It was concluded that FA supplementation in women before pregnancy lowers the risk of congenital abnormalities, but socioeconomic status and medical care were not taken into account during the study, possibly skewing the results (Banhidy, et al., 2011). Depending on the artists, you may find many similarities and differences, or you might not find any. In the two images The Last Supper and Interior I found a variety of similarities and differences. As subjective as it is, the perception of beauty is a controversial phenomenon. Dionne and Davis (2012) believed that personality is a lens through which this view [perception of beauty] is filtered and this lens of personality can also serve to bias the judgments we make about body size and shape and the consequences of these judgments on self worth (italics added). Presented in this essay are four of some of the most commonly used arguments for theism (not including arguments that rely purely on faith) and rebuttals to each argument. Firstly I will introduce a very popular argument for theism is that there can not be a causeless cause; someone must have caused the universe to come into existence. Of course the natural response to this is to ask; who caused God to come into existence? This argument is obviously internally inconsistent. Next I will put forth an argument for theism known as the Argument from Design . This common argument suggests that complex things such as watches and televisions are created by intelligent people. Surely the intricacy of life spawning from simple DNA, as well as the other examples of complexity in the universe also imply the influence of an intelligence? A rebuttal to this argument would be that god is certainly complex, so who created him? If one says that he has always existed, then why can t one instead say that the universe (and life) have always existed? Besides, there are clear examples of lackluster design in nature.
