Cleopatra And Elizabeth I Research Paper
Throughout ancient times there has been many rulers who ve made history. Two of the most famous
female leaders throughout history have been Cleopatra and Elizabeth I. These two rulers had a big
impact on their nations throughout their regime. With their intelligence and wits they did a great deal
for their people. They both influenced their people and demonstrated that women could also rule a
kingdom. Cleopatra was born around the time of 69 B.C. in Alexandria, Egypt. She was part of the
Ptolemaic dynasty and ascended the throne when she was 18 years old with her younger brother.
Elizabeth I was born on September 7, 1533 in Greenwich England. Elizabeth I was declared
illegitimate but she eventually claimed the throne at age 25. Cleopatra ruled from 51 B.C. to 30 B.C.
and Elizabeth I ruled from 1558 to 1603. Cleopatra and Elizabeth I both defeated plots against them,
were independent rulers, and were big supporters of the arts. However, although Cleopatra tried to
maintain Egypt s independence, ally with important Roman leaders, and be loved by her people,
Elizabeth I helped her nation the most by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Cleopatra was having trouble with her brother, Ptolemy XIII, she saw Julius Caesar as a
valuable ally in her fight for the throne. She ordered a servant to wrap her in a carpet so she could
sneak into the palace and present herself to him. It is said that the gesture won over Rome s future
dictator for life . Julius accepted to help her and they became intimate and had a child together.
Unfortunately, Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 B.C. After his death Cleopatra formed a political
and romantic partnership with Roman general, Mark Antony. They had three children together, and
opposed an enemy named Octavian. In 30 B.C., Mark Antony was captured and forced to kill himself
by Octavian. This resulted in Cleopatra s death when she committed suicide after hearing that Mark

Essay on Freddie Mac Ethics
Freddie Mac is in the home mortgage business. It is their jobs to help low income families find
affordable housing. Freddie Mac has been in business since 1970. They were created in order to get
more American families in to their own homes. Their mission statement says, Our statutory mission is
to provide liquidity, stability and affordability to the U.S. housing market (FreddieMac.com, 2014).
Despite this honorable mission statement, Freddie Mac was involved in a case of accounting fraud that
went on from 1998 to 2002. The lack of ethics at this company started with top brass setting the tone,
and the rest of the company following suit.
Rather than being sticklers for following GAAP accounting principles and internal controls, this ...

According to HUD Freddie Mac and Fannie May are both GSE s, government sponsored enterprises,
and in the U.S. they are the two largest providers of home mortgages. They were created primarily to
provide loans to underprivileged and lower economic areas. They are not subject to taxes. They do not
fall under the jurisdiction of the Securities Exchange Commission. They have direct access to a 2.25
billion line of credit, and their rates are significantly lower than their competitors, because of their
government backing, (Housing and Urban Developement, 2001).
The reason the company bought these risky loans was because they have a much higher interest rate.
Rather than paying 3.53 or 4% interest on a home loan these people were forced to pay almost double
that, between 6 and 7%. The conflict of interest arose from the fact that Freddie Mac was the one
whom the recipients of these loans had to try to get refinancing from. They did not want to refinance
the high interest mortgages into lower interest ones. This caused them to have a conflict of interest.
They were not interested in helping people to save their homes because they were making money off
the interest. Many people were in need of refinancing, which would effectively pay off the higher
interest rate loan and create a new loan with more affordable prices. Freddie Mac refused to help these
people out of their mortgages, effectively because they

I personally was not as excited about this piece as I hoped. I like louder and more exciting music that
changes from soft to loud and has a more upbeat tempo. The second piece preformed was, Sedona by
Steven Reineke. I really like this piece a lot. It reminds me of Christmas and happy times. I like how
in the beginning the piece starts off softer, but you can still hear all the different instruments playing
their part. The tone of the flutes is very beautiful to listen to and I really enjoyed how the piece slowed
down to really enhance that sound. Overall, I really enjoyed this piece and it was very well played.
The next piece played was, Salvation is created by Pavel Tschesnokoff and Bruce Houseknecht. This
piece starts off soft but then you hear the Timpani which brings in a louder sound to the piece. This
piece has a very slow tempo which was hard for me to keep my focus on. When I listen to this piece
and I hear the Timpani, I think of something exciting happening and then it goes back to being normal
again. Overall, I had a harder time concentrating but I didn t mind it. The next piece played was,

Retention Pond In Florida
There are retention ponds in Florida. A business built a building over one of these ponds. The pond is
a perfect circle, and the building is a perfect rectangle. The corners of the building are ABCD, and the
ratio of side AB to side BC is 4 to 3. The perimeter of the building measures 280 units, and the edge of
the pond is 4 units beyond the corner of the building. We want to figure out the area of the pond that is
not covered by the building. To find the area of the pond that is not covered by the building, I drew a
picture.
I labeled the length and width as 4x and 3x. I need to solve for the side lengths. So I made the
equation 280= 4x + 3x + 4x +3x. I solved the equation and found that x is equal to 20. So the length is
80 units and the width is 60 units. And I have to multiply the side lengths together to find the area. The
area of the rectangle is four thousand eight hundred. Now, to find the area of the circle, I have to find
the radius. I saw that if I connected the corners of the building to form a diagonal line, it would form
the diameter of the circle. So I made an equation using the pythagorean theorem. I found the
hypotenuse was one hundred. I then added one hundred and eight because the pond extends four units
on each side. So the radius is fifty four. And to find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the total cost of the plants needed to cover the available area. To find the cost of plants, I would take

hundred and forty five. But each plant costs a dollar and twenty five cents, so I have to multiply one
hundred forty five by one dollar and twenty five cents. So the total cost of the plants needed to cover
the available area is one hundred eighty one dollars and twenty five

custody of the children from his previous marriage. He and Mary tried to have kids of their own, but it
seemed to fail every time. They had a daughter named Clara, but she died after her first birthday of
dysentery. They tried again, this time they had a son, but he died of malaria in 1815. Mary also had a
miscarriage that she nearly died from. Their only surviving child was Percy Florence who was born in
1819. A few years later, the marriage ended because of Percy s death in 1822. Percy drowned in a

Abgenix Case Study
A. Introduction:
Abgenix was a company founded in California who had a unique method for generating antibodies
useful in treating a number of diseases, one of which was cancer. They named this unique method
XenoMouse. Abgenix spent 7 years and $40 million to produce XenoMouse which was a genetically
engineered mouse which could produce antibodies that would treat illnesses like cancer, transplant
rejection and inflammation. B. Abgenix Ways To Generate Revenue:

Abgenix was in the eve of its big decision. ABX EGF program was perhaps the biggest decision
management. In preclinical trials; ABX EGF was so successful that it had attracted a number of
potential partners. Abgenix had three different options. Pharmacol, Biopart and go it alone. Abgenix
had to decide whether to: License ABX EGF to a pharmaceutical company which would do all further
testing and commercialization. (This was the option of Pharmacol. Abgenix would bear little risk and
receive license royalties.)
Use a joint venture with a biotechnology company to complete the testing and commercialization.
(This was the option of Biopart. Abgenix would bear moderate risk but split profits.)
Pursue the ABX EGF project as a solo venture. (This was the option of going alone. Abgenix would
bear all risks but gather all the profits.)
F. Conclusion and Recommendations:
Abgenix was about to make an important decision.
The advantages of having a partner are as follows: Additional resources and cash to develop ABX
EGF properly, Decreasing the risk of Abgenix if ABX EGF runs of either not developing it properly or
that the product turns out to be unsuccessful after Abgenix invests a large amount of cash. Partner s

Significant Economic Changes In The United States
In the past 10 years, there have been numerous economic changes in the united states. Between
inflation, unemployment, the GDP and changes in government leadership, how money is spent and
saved regularly changed throughout the decade. These economic habits can be different based on age,
race, gender, location, education levels, and spending habits reflect each of these variables. Today i
will explore these variables, how things have recently changed based on then, and how i believe things
will change in the near future.
There isn t a pattern in the last 10 years for inflation changing. Inflation currently for October is 2.0, in
October of last year it was 1.6 so it raised quite a bit in the last year. But in October 2007 inflation was

2017 it was at 62.9 so it dropped a little since 2010. I think that it s just going to get lower and lower
in the future because that s the progress it has been in the last 10 years.
GDP now is in the US is 3.3%, GDP has lowered in the last 10 years. In 2007 the GDP in the US was
4.40%. There isn t a pattern for how much it changed in 10 years it kind of went up and down since
2007. In the future I think that GDP will raise more and more.
I am going to tell you how Hawaii is doing economically. Hawaii s inflation rate has doubled to 2% in
2016. For unemployment in Hawaii, its relatively low. Since the recession in 2009 Hawaii has been 2
to 3% lower than the national rate. In 2011 70% men 16 years or older were in the labor force and
60% of women 16 years or older were in the labor force. The GDP in hawaii in 2016 was $84.7 billion
and ranked 38th in the united states. In 2006 the GDP in Hawaii was $62.1 billion and still was ranked
38th in the united states. I think that the GDP in Hawaii is going to get higher because it has gotten
higher in the last ten years and It should continue to get higher. Hawaii also has the highest rate of
poverty in the

Positivist Theory And Deviant Behavior
Positivist Theory rose to dominance in the 19th century constituting a more hands on, scientific policy
where positivism was perceived as the belief that basic truths will rise once scientific methods to the
study of society have been applied. In regard to criminal behaviour, which will be further discussed
through biological and psychological positivism, positivism foretells that research has the ability to
demonstrate what the main causes are for crime within individuals and what measures can be taken to
eliminate it (Lundberg, 1939). The overall development of positivistic perspectives instituted a major
break within the classical condition where crime became a matter of individual choice (White, Haines
and Asquith, 2009). The 19th century was a period of consolidation and the rise of capitalism in the
commercial mode of production in Europe, along with this was also a time of new thinking about
society and the nature of human beings. The rise of positivism was also communicated through the
implementation of natural scientific methods and concepts in the study of society, where the
acceptance of certain ideas about human experiences and the rectification of social problems were
adopted. This essay will aim to unpack the institutions and organisations within the positivism time
period whilst focusing on both key and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to identify and explain criminal behaviour through biological means, whereas the second element

Title: Study of Evolution in Mitochondria through different species of plants and Animals.
ID#:04635
Introduction: The mitochondria is a double membrane organelle that is found in all eukaryotic
organisms. There is some evidence that proves some eukaryotes lack mitochondria, but there is no true
evidence about complete lack of mitochondria in the organisms. Mitochondria is known as a power
house of the living body cell. They store energy in the cell and release it as needed. Every structure in
Mitochondria have their own specific roles which helps in storing energy (See Figure 1 for details).
Evidence shows that mitochondria evolved from primitive bacteria. Is it really evolved from primary
bacteria or were they the new adaptation in the plant and animal body? In this paper we are going to
see how Mitochondrion have been evolved in different species and what methods have been used to
prove that evolution. There is still debate between scientists about whether mitochondrion really
evolved from bacteria or if it was present in the cells before bacteria were present. Yung et al. [1] says
that Mitochondria s cytochromes c (which is a mitochondrial intermembrane protein that is loosely
attached to the inner membrane of mitochondrial membrane) is relatively close to the bacterial
medium subunit in sequence of cytochrome. However,

During the period 2005 2011, the Board of Directors of Homeserve was comprised of directors who
had a financial or accounting background so there was an obvious deficiency in the Board being

Although Homeserve attempted to put female board members recently, they still failed to meet the
requirements of the Davies 2011 report to recruit more women to the board; Lord Davies stressed the
need to double the women at board level by 2015. (Davies, 2011) In recent times there has been one
female director on the board but if there had been a serious effort made to recruit more women during
that six year period when the corporate failings were highlighted these errors may have been
corrected. It is felt that female directors inspire a company to increase the company s corporate
governance profile, as they are more meticulous on ensuring the effectiveness of the board.

Delay Analysis Of Networked Control System Essay
Delay Analysis Of Networked Control System
Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loops are
closed through a communication network. In recent years, the use of Network Control System (NCS)
have gained increasing attentions due to their cost effective and flexible applications. But one of the
major challenges that need to be tackle in NCS is the delay of the data transmission which occurs
throughout the communication network and thus degrades the control system performance and also
causes the system instability. Therefore, this paper presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In
this paper, we have designed a model of delay control system for network induced delay using the
simulation model of network control system delay and thus analysed the effect of network delay on
the performance of the control system . The TrueTime simulator is used in this work.
Keywords networked control system, network delay, control performance, truetime, stability
I.INTRODUCTION
In conventional control systems, control signals are sent over the loop using analog or digital
technology, while in modern computer control systems, the control loop is almost entirely closed over
a communication network . The Networked Control Systems (NCSs) are one type of distributed
control systems in which sensors, actuators and controllers are interconnected by communication
networks. The defining feature

Campaign To Keep Guns Off Campus Analysis
Today thousands of young students go to colleges and universities here in America. With so many
young minds placed onto one campus with little to no parental supervision the question is asked: are
college campuses a safe place? Yes, most college campuses across America are safe. A study prepared
by the campaign to keep guns off campus shows that the crime rate for college is monumentally lower
than the rate for the city where the campus is located. For example, in 2013 the city of Jacksonville
Florida had 452 cases of forcible rape and 3,277 accounts of aggravated assaults. A staggering amount
compared to 1 forcible rape and 6 counts of aggravated assaults at the University of North Florida in

Puritan Beliefs In The Salem Witch Trials
Soon prisons were filled with more than 150 men and women from towns surrounding Salem. Their
names had been cried out by tormented young girls as the cause of their pain. All would await trial for
a crime punishable by death in 17th century New England, the practice of witchcraft. This excerpt
from an article about the Salem Witch Trials embodies the concept of punishment which the Puritans
embraced. As shown, Puritans applied ideals of punishment and discipline to prevent sinful behavior,
which proves to beneficial in controlling such events. Many individuals increasingly view Puritan
doctrines in a negative light. However, these morals actually keep communities well maintained and
religiously aware of sin and its consequences. Puritan morals are beneficial to societies because they
encourage the avoidance of unholy activities, increased self control, and moderation of behavior.
To begin with, Puritan communities largely condemned individuals for minor sins which usually are
not considered worthy of extreme punishment, such as excessive drinking. During the Industrial
Revolution in the colonial time period, the majority of male factory workers resorted to heavy
drinking to distract from the daily hardships and struggles which were prominent at the time. As a
result, alcohol was banned from the communities, leading to a major decrease in consumption.
Similarly, Puritans who condemned the ingestion of alcoholic beverages as immoral kept their towns

Occupational Challenges And Stressors Faced By Paramedics
Emergency services, in particular the paramedic profession, are categorised amongst the most stressful
occupations worldwide (Rybojad, Aftyka, Baran Rzonca, 2016). Recurrent exposure to emergency life
threatening circumstances in concurrence with ongoing operational stressors can be physically,
mentally and emotionally tiring. Chronically, this will have detrimental effects upon paramedic s
wellbeing and resilience and can result in reduced professional capability (Clompus Albarran, 2015).
This essay will decipher the specific occupational challenges and stressors faced by paramedics. It will
describe various opportunities for maintaining optimal mental health with short term management.
Additionally, ways of building long term resilience to effect improvement of personal and professional
proficiency will be explored.
Stress is an elusive concept of an internal retort to an external stimulus (ref). A certain level of stress is
certainly required and beneficial in short term use but when prolonged and in excessive amounts, it
can cause stress reactions burnout and mental health issues such as, depression, anxiety, insomnia and
PTSD (ref). The job description of a paramedic is inclusive of a multitude of stressors; such as
responding to highly stressful, life threatening situations in compromising and complex situations.
Quick appraisals of the situation need to be made in timely manner in order to administer lifesaving
aid prior to transport to higher medical facilities

Ballroom Scene Analysis
House and Ballroom Scene The House Ballroom scene is an intentional, multigenerational and
creative community which was founded by the Latino and black LGBTQ people. People from the
outside world came to know about this scene through researchers and journalist who were not
members of this community. The coverage of this community focused on dance form Vogue and it had
strong engagement with the movement against racism, homophobia, transphobia, cultural exploitation
and the barrier to healthcare (Valenti, 1989). According to some researcher, the Ballroom Scene
started as common occasion dubbed cabaret in where American menfolk in women attires came to
entertain the upper and middle class audiences. This was a clandestine activity and the member of the
LGBT community came to participate in the competition for recreation. Members of this community
formed a team or house. A house member who offer care and protection to the members when need be.
Ideally, members of these houses came from family backgrounds which did not support the activities
of the LBGT community. The US ballroom served as a home for escapees from reality and they acted
as comfort zone where people could seek acceptance for whoever they wanted to be. Wealth, glamour
and status are important factors in Ballroom culture. Different houses organized event which were

The conventional Victorian ideas are supported in Goblin Market . This is seen in the representation of
Laura and Lizzie. They have to be careful in how their actions might be perceived, You should not
peep at goblin men. / Lizzie covered up her eyes, / Covered close lest they should look (Rossetti lines
49 51). A power struggle between men and women is established in Goblin Market ; all men are
represented by the goblin men, Laura and Lizzie signify all pure innocent females. In the beginning
the struggle is barely perceptible. The men tempt and tease the girls to taste their fruit; however, the
struggle becomes more obvious when Lizzie returns to the goblins to purchase some fruit for Laura;
the goblins try to force her to sit and eat the fruit with them, but when she refuses the goblins cuss and
hit her. The struggle is resolved by Lizzie. She stands up to the goblin men and resists their
temptations, initially they try to trap her and when that does not work they try force. She triumphs by
remaining strong.
Goblin Market is a moral fable of sin and redemption because the fruit represents sin. The goblins use
the fruit to tempt the young girls. Laura is persuaded to try it; however, she has no money and is
coerced to give a part of herself, You have much gold upon your head, / ... / Buy from us with a golden
curl. (123 125) Laura succumbs to desire and develops an obsession for the fruit, I ate and ate my fill,
/ Yet my mouth waters

Family History Reflection
Reflection of My Family History
What can I say about my family? Honestly, hardly know jack shit about my family s history. As of
now, I know that both my Biological parents were born in Puerto Rico. In addition, please be mindful
that the man who is supposedly is my biological father; I did not have a chance to meet his ass until I
was 24 years old. Furthermore, I never would have met this fucking man had it not been for me calling
my Titi Carmen (Aunty Carmen) in Puerto Rico. Before I go too deep into my family s history, I think
it would be best for you guys to get a little bit of my background, my first family, the streets of New
York City.
For starters, I was born and raised in the most violent poverty stricken section of New York City, The
South Bronx. I managed to survive two epidemics, (the crack, and the aids epidemic). I was born in
the early seventies. The Bronx to me looked like a fucking warzone, a vast wasteland, where it was
not uncommon to see the rats roam free amongst the debris of the streets of New York City; along
with the huge water bugs (Cucarachas Grandes), it is what we Ricans in the hood use to call them.
These big ass roaches were disgusting; these motherfuckers had wings on them too. So them suckers
could fly and shit. I cringe as I writing this shit thinking about them nasty ass disgusting roaches. The
shit I had to deal with growing up in this bitch! I still remember, I swear to you guys going to the
bathroom was some scary ass shit, like a

Mesopotamia Cuneiform History
3100 BC Mesopotamia and Cuneiform
The first recorded history of writing tablets comes from Sumer in 3100 BC. The chief of the temple
called the sangu (accountant) was responsible for noting animals and other goods to tally the temple s
wealth. The images of these goods were simply drawn on lumps of wet clay and lines drawn in
accordance with the number of each, allowed to dry in the sun and became a permanent tablet.
In Mesopotamia, clay tablets became the most common surface for documenting and writing. A piece
of reed, sculpted with a tapered or rectangular end became the first writing instrument. This initial
human script consisted of wedge shaped characters called cuneiform. This became the standardized
method of writing and is seen in Mesopotamia, Persia and Ugarit. Scribes were able to record
messages to be read with the understanding and concept of long lasting notations passing through time
and space. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The combined concepts and suggestions of objects are similarly depicted. The hieroglyph name came
from the Greeks in 500BC. Heiros (sacred) and glypho (engrave) in Greek was coined because the
Greeks used this type of writing only for holy texts. Prior to the introduction of Papyrus, hieroglyphic
inscriptions were used on the walls of tombs and temples, created by sculptors, painters and craftsmen
who modeled these intricate images in relief on plaster.
Scribes began writing on papyrus, a smooth surface created from tall, pithy sedge plants that grew
along the Nile river. The hieroglyphic inscriptions had utmost importance, becoming more detailed
and delicate as the act of writing with a fine reed pen evolved. The scribe was a professional and
regarded as such. Three hieratic versions of hieroglyphs developed, formal for religious documents,
less formal for official documents and literature and even less formal for private

John Stuart Mill Weaknesses
Introduction
Although John Stuart Mill s form of utilitarianism is not difficult, procedurally, to employ, complex
thought experiments are not able to fully present the results of the theory in an individual s life.
Because of this inability, I set aside a block of two days where I could apply the theory to my decision
making, which allowed me to see the pragmatic side of the theory, so I can return to a place of
analysis with a better understanding of the problems utilitarianism faces. However, within a span of
two days, I cannot claim to have received an expansive experience with Mill utilitarianism, therefore
my discussion can proceed with what I did learn, but should not be considered a complete,
comprehensive picture. After a brief review ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By ignoring the more complex theoretics of the theory, the theory simply attempts to achieve the best
results possible. In normal life, you have no need to question if we are justified in punishing serial
killers, instead, we take and give pizza slices to who we determine needs it. Even if, by some chance,
we choose incorrectly, the minor consequences are barely significant, and occasionally they go
unnoticed. When I chose to arrive late for the SAT, at this point in time, the two individuals it affected,
my proctor and the other student, are unlikely to even recall the starting time of the test, much less
consider the minor inconvenience of any real damage, while I, on the other hand, consider the extra

A Brief Note On The Income Measurement And Revenue...
Income Measurement/Revenue Recognition A. IAS 18 Relationship A customer walks into her local
Wal Mart Supercenter to purchase a few necessities and Christmas gifts. Once the customer has found
everything on her list, she goes to the nearest register to pay for her items. Her groceries totaled
$102.50, her pet food cost $21.60, the videogame she picked out for her nephew is $80.00, and finally
she purchased two Wal Mart gift cards totaling $50.00. Even though the customer s total sale is
$279.10, Wal Mart cannot recognize any of the revenue unless the transaction meets all of the criteria
listed in IAS 18. IAS 18 is an accounting regulation that mandates how companies are to determine
whether or not a transaction constitutes the recognition of revenue. Revenue regularly comes from the
sale of goods or prepayment for services to be rendered, however, it can only be recognized if there is
an economic benefit on behalf of the seller and the reliability of the revenue is provable. Wal Mart is
in the business to sell goods to customers, so they can only recognize revenues from completed
transactions that are reliable in nature (IAS 18 Revenue 2009). Our customer purchased $279.10 in
groceries and merchandise, but Wal Mart is not able to recognize the full transaction as revenue. The
entire transaction does provide an economic benefit to Wal Mart, but the amount is not entirely

Animal Welfare Vs Animal Rights
These alternatives, once studied enough to be credible, could change the face of animal testing.
Unfortunately according to the John Hopkins Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing, scientists say
we simply do not yet understand the complexities of the human body well enough to be able to design
suitable non animal alternatives (Shany 85). This means millions of animals will be killed in the years
to come, but hopefully we take the time to find a safe alternative. Once an alternative becomes
available, we will be able to reduce the number of animals killed each year during testing. Animal

Quotes From Stormbreaker
Although death is one option, we choose to choose other options to get our way out of it, even when

but instead worked for an Agent corporation. Alex soon becomes a spy, working for the corporation
and goes into a life threatening mission, to stop Stormbreaker.
The novel is a life lesson for the children of our generation, especially in since everyone lies to get

Staffing At Tanglewood s Work And Quality Of Staff
Staffing at Tanglewood [Design] is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works
(Walker, 2003, para. 4). When Steve Jobs said this comment he was speaking about the first iPod, but
in actuality it rings true for any design, whether it is a product or a methodology. Tanglewood is a
retail store chain with an outdoors theme (Kammeyer Mueller, 2012). The organizational structure in
conjunction with recent growth is causing a disconnect between Tanglewood s mission and quality of

Analysis Of Don Sabo s Pigskin, Patriarchy, And Pain
When I hear the word patriarchy , the first thing I think about is male dominance. Our society has a
dangerously narrow view of masculinity, which limits what a man is allowed to be. Phrases like nice
guys finish last , stop acting like a girl , or be a man are told to boys at a young age. In Don Sabo s
article Pigskin, Patriarchy, and Pain , he shines the light on intermale aggression by sharing his
experience as a young football player and the detrimental risk upon ones body in the football culture.
The fact that the football field is an all male space connects it to patriarchy. It isn t just about men
dominating women, but also about men dominating other men. We become adept at taking the feelings

Sabo tells his readers I learned to be an animal. Coaches took notice of animals. Animals made first
team. Being an animal meant being fanatically aggressive and ruthlessly competitive (7). This shows
that the interference of acknowledgment of ones emotions caused by the normalized pain of injuries
and the tough love generated throughout the sport is unacceptable if you want to be seen. The
dogmatic belief of pain is more important than pleasure (10) is continuously being passed down
through generations of teams. Society is teaching boys to look at taking pain as a badge of honor and
courage. I learned that pain and injury are part of the game (6). Most people want to get into sports or
activities to have fun, but there are others, like Sabo, who play a sport to win a reward. Like a young
child who learns to dance or sing for a piece of candy, I played for rewards and payoffs (3). In high
school, I remember the teenage boys who succeeded in football were well known across the school,
dated the girls they wanted, and were accepted for the tough guys they seemed to be. Winning at
sports meant winning friends and carving a place for myself within the male pecking order (3).
Football became my ticket to a college scholarship which, in western Pennsylvania during the early
sixties, meant a career instead of getting stuck in the steel mills (4). Football is the number one

Summary Of Machete Season
Viewing the perpetrators of vile deeds as motivated merely by evil is a gross oversimplification. In the
introduction, Jean Hatzfield states that the story will follow the lives of the killers: the Hutu men who
perpetrated the Rwandan genocide and murdered their Tutsi neighbors en masse. The narration style
switches between chapters written in third person omniscient style and chapters composed of many
short sections of first person narratives from the perspectives of the Hutu men interviewed by the
author. The third person chapters provide context for the stories of the Hutus, while the numerous
stories themselves add a personal element that reveals the thoughts and mindsets of the Hutu s who

By establishing humans as inherently capable of evil, and perpetrators of evil as no less human,
Hatzfield encourages a nuanced understanding of the causes of genocide. In doing so, Hatzfield warns
readers of the ease with which genocide can take place and cautions against allowing prejudice to take
hold in communities. In Rwanda, Hutus lived with Tutsis as friends and neighbors mere days prior to
slaughtering them. However, the groundwork for the massacres was the result of plans and
preparations formulated essentially by collective decision long before the genocide began (52). Radio
propaganda drove tensions far in advance, and the assassination of the Hutu president was not the
reason for the genocide but the signal for it to finally begin. Hatzfield establishes this point by
humanizing the Hutus. One of the interviewees explains that when you receive a new order, you
hesitate but you obey, or else you re taking a risk. When you have been prepared the right way by the
radios and the official advice, you obey more easily, even if the order is to kill your neighbors (71).
While this could easily be dismissed as an excuse born of fear and guilt, understanding the truth of this
statement is crucial to the prevention of further mass violence; indeed, if the preparation through
propaganda and conditioning can be identified,

has been debated by students for many years. Although outdoor graduations may cost more than
indoor and require a lot more effort, they could be worth a student s time and money in the end. That
is why an outdoor graduation should be a student s first choice over an indoor graduation. First off, an
outdoor graduation should be a student s first choice because it would allow more people to attend the
ceremony. for example, if a graduating class consists of more than 500 people, then there would be

Trade has been one of the foundation of societies and cultures the world over, but while the concept

The arrival of airplanes and motorized vehicles has shortened the time it takes to trade goods along
time. This is continuing even further as robotic drones are taking to the skies in test runs for
companies like Amazon as the future of product delivery. Technology has reduced the time it takes
goods to reach their destination to the point that products on the other side of the world can reach a
buyer in less than 48 hours. Trade has also seen big changes, long gone are the days of the trade
system, replaced by money backed, not by gold or silver, but by governments GDPs. This global
system of trade and money is seen most pronouncedly by the the United State s national debt, which

as they were in the 16th century. However, just like technology has shaped how people trade, it has

a country with some of the highest rates of child labor. The country has made progress in making laws
and regulations, organizations and agencies and social programs that target child labor. The problem is
that these developments are not effective in reducing the child labor in South Sudan. It is important to
understand what the Sudanese government is doing that isn t working and why it isn t working in
order to reduce child labor significantly in this country. Background The leading causes for child labor
in South Sudan include poverty and the political crisis of the South Sudan government. The South
Sudan government has been fighting with rebel factions, which has ultimately resulted in child
abduction into the armed forces and young girls being trafficked to work as sex slaves. Poverty has
also served as a major contributor to child labor in South Sudan (Canagarajah Nielson, 2001). About
3.5 million children are without parental care due to poverty in the country (Plummer Kudrati El Hag
Yousif, 2007). With no parents to provide these children are forced to work. The political crisis
combined with widespread poverty in the country need to be

The Life of Spanish Baroque Painter Martolome Esteban Murillo
On January 1st, 1618, Bartolome Esteban Murillo was born in Seville Spain. Murillo was the most
famous Spanish Baroque painter of his time, known for his religious works.
Murillo was the youngest of fourteen children, born to Gaspar Esteban, a barber, and María Perez .
Murillo gained his surname from a traditional Andalusian custom, taking the name of his grandmother,
Elvira Murillo. In 1627, Murillo s father passed away, and his mother died a year later. Murillo was an
orphan at ten years old, and was sent to live with his older sister and her husband.
Murillo was exposed to the art world from a young age. His uncle was a painter, who married the
daughter of another successful artist. All the daughters of this couple went on to marry ... Show more

Even despite this, the 1660 s were the busiest in Murillo s entire career. His portraits from this time are
some of his best,.
In 1680, Murillo was commissioned to paint the main altarpiece for the Capuchins church in Cádiz.
This was an incredible honor. While working up on a scaffold, Murillo fell and died soon after.
During his lifetime, Murillo left an incredible art legacy. His style has similarities from his teacher,
and Zurbarán, the most popular painter in Seville before himself. In his early years, Murillo painted in
the style known as Chiaroscuro. Chiaroscuro is a style with strong contrast between light and dark.
Murillo used a lot of lighting techniques he learned from Zurbaran, but Murillo s works were lighter
and softer than Zurbaran. Overtime, Murillo stopped painting in Chiaroscuro, and his style evolved to
be lighter and more like the style of Federico Barocci. His trip to Madrid further changed his style,
encouraging him to use thick brushstrokes, warm tones, highlights, and richer color. In Murillo s late
life, his style changed again. Murillo used looser brush strokes, and sober colors. It is said that his
work during this time in his life was vaporous and more refined.
One of his more famous paintings is called The Young Beggar and is on display at the Musée du
Louvre, in Paris, France. This painting shows a sad beggar boy sitting alone on a street

Two of the most famous female leaders throughout history have been Cleopatra and Elizabeth I. These two rulers had a big impact on their nations throughout their regime. With their intelligence and wits they did a great deal for their people. They both influenced their people and demonstrated that women could also rule a kingdom. Cleopatra was born around the time of 69 B.C. in Alexandria, Egypt. She was part of the Ptolemaic dynasty and ascended the throne when she was 18 years old with her younger brother. Elizabeth I was born on September 7, 1533 in Greenwich England. Elizabeth I was declared illegitimate but she eventually claimed the throne at age 25. Cleopatra ruled from 51 B.C. to 30 B.C. and Elizabeth I ruled from 1558 to 1603. Cleopatra and Elizabeth I both defeated plots against them, were independent rulers, and were big supporters of the arts. However, although Cleopatra tried to maintain Egypt s independence, ally with important Roman leaders, and be loved by her people, Elizabeth I helped her nation the most by ... Julius accepted to help her and they became intimate and had a child together. Unfortunately, Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 B.C. They were created in order to get more American families in to their own homes. Their mission statement says, Our statutory mission is to provide liquidity, stability and affordability to the U.S. housing market (FreddieMac.com, 2014). Despite this honorable mission statement, Freddie Mac was involved in a case of accounting fraud that went on from 1998 to 2002. According to HUD Freddie Mac and Fannie May are both GSE s, government sponsored enterprises, and in the U.S. they are the two largest providers of home mortgages. They were created primarily to provide loans to underprivileged and lower economic areas. They are not subject to taxes. They do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Securities Exchange Commission. They have direct access to a 2.25 billion line of credit, and their rates are significantly lower than their competitors, because of their government backing, (Housing and Urban Developement, 2001). The reason the company bought these risky loans was because they have a much higher interest rate. Rather than paying 3.53 or 4% interest on a home loan these people were forced to pay almost double that, between 6 and 7%. The conflict of interest arose from the fact that Freddie Mac was the one whom the recipients of these loans had to try to get refinancing from. They did not want to refinance the high interest mortgages into lower interest ones. This caused them to have a conflict of interest. They were not interested in helping people to save their homes because they were making money off the interest. Many people were in need of refinancing, which would effectively pay off the higher interest rate loan and create a new loan with more affordable prices. Freddie Mac refused to help these people out of their mortgages, effectively because they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Retention Pond In Florida There are retention ponds in Florida. A business built a building over one of these ponds. The pond is a perfect circle, and the building is a perfect rectangle. The corners of the building are ABCD, and the ratio of side AB to side BC is 4 to 3. The perimeter of the building measures 280 units, and the edge of the pond is 4 units beyond the corner of the building. We want to figure out the area of the pond that is not covered by the building. To find the area of the pond that is not covered by the building, I drew a picture. I labeled the length and width as 4x and 3x. I need to solve for the side lengths. So I made the equation 280= 4x + 3x + 4x +3x. I solved the equation and found that x is equal to 20. So the length is 80 units and the width is 60 units. And I have to multiply the side lengths together to find the area. The area of the rectangle is four thousand eight hundred. Now, to find the area of the circle, I have to find the radius. I saw that if I connected the corners of the building to form a diagonal line, it would form the diameter of the circle. So I made an equation using the pythagorean theorem. I found the hypotenuse was one hundred. I then added one hundred and eight because the pond extends four units on each side. So the radius is fifty four. And to find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each plant costs a dollar and twenty five cents, and use up thirty square units of land. Abgenix had to decide whether to: License ABX EGF to a pharmaceutical company which would do all further testing and commercialization. (This was the option of Pharmacol. The 19th century was a period of consolidation and the rise of capitalism in the commercial mode of production in Europe, along with this was also a time of new thinking about society and the nature of human beings. Aayushi Shah shah.947 ID#:200404635 Title: Study of Evolution in Mitochondria through different species of plants and Animals. ID#:04635 Introduction: The mitochondria is a double membrane organelle that is found in all eukaryotic organisms. There is some evidence that proves some eukaryotes lack mitochondria, but there is no true evidence about complete lack of mitochondria in the organisms. Mitochondria is known as a power house of the living body cell. They store energy in the cell and release it as needed. Every structure in Mitochondria have their own specific roles which helps in storing energy (See Figure 1 for details). Evidence shows that mitochondria evolved from primitive bacteria. Is it really evolved from primary bacteria or were they the new adaptation in the plant and animal body? In this paper we are going to see how Mitochondrion have been evolved in different species and what methods have been used to prove that evolution. There is still debate between scientists about whether mitochondrion really evolved from bacteria or if it was present in the cells before bacteria were present. Yung et al. [1] says that Mitochondria s cytochromes c (which is a mitochondrial intermembrane protein that is loosely attached to the inner membrane of mitochondrial membrane) is relatively close to the bacterial medium subunit in sequence of cytochrome. • 15. Delay Analysis Of Networked Control System Essay Delay Analysis Of Networked Control System Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loops are closed through a communication network. In recent years, the use of Network Control System (NCS) have gained increasing attentions due to their cost effective and flexible applications. But one of the major challenges that need to be tackle in NCS is the delay of the data transmission which occurs throughout the communication network and thus degrades the control system performance and also causes the system instability. Therefore, this paper presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In this paper, we have designed a model of delay control system for network induced delay using the simulation model of network control system delay and thus analysed the effect of network delay on the performance of the control system . The TrueTime simulator is used in this work. Many individuals increasingly view Puritan doctrines in a negative light. However, these morals actually keep communities well maintained and religiously aware of sin and its consequences. Puritan morals are beneficial to societies because they encourage the avoidance of unholy activities, increased self control, and moderation of behavior. To begin with, Puritan communities largely condemned individuals for minor sins which usually are not considered worthy of extreme punishment, such as excessive drinking. During the Industrial Revolution in the colonial time period, the majority of male factory workers resorted to heavy drinking to distract from the daily hardships and struggles which were prominent at the time. • 32. Analysis Of Don Sabo s Pigskin, Patriarchy, And Pain When I hear the word patriarchy , the first thing I think about is male dominance. Our society has a dangerously narrow view of masculinity, which limits what a man is allowed to be. Phrases like nice guys finish last , stop acting like a girl , or be a man are told to boys at a young age. In Don Sabo s article Pigskin, Patriarchy, and Pain , he shines the light on intermale aggression by sharing his experience as a young football player and the detrimental risk upon ones body in the football culture. The fact that the football field is an all male space connects it to patriarchy. It isn t just about men dominating women, but also about men dominating other men. We become adept at taking the feelings that boil up inside us ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sabo tells his readers I learned to be an animal. Coaches took notice of animals. Animals made first team. Being an animal meant being fanatically aggressive and ruthlessly competitive (7). This shows that the interference of acknowledgment of ones emotions caused by the normalized pain of injuries and the tough love generated throughout the sport is unacceptable if you want to be seen. The dogmatic belief of pain is more important than pleasure (10) is continuously being passed down through generations of teams. Society is teaching boys to look at taking pain as a badge of honor and courage. I learned that pain and injury are part of the game (6). Most people want to get into sports or activities to have fun, but there are others, like Sabo, who play a sport to win a reward. Like a young child who learns to dance or sing for a piece of candy, I played for rewards and payoffs (3). In high school, I remember the teenage boys who succeeded in football were well known across the school, dated the girls they wanted, and were accepted for the tough guys they seemed to be. Winning at sports meant winning friends and carving a place for myself within the male pecking order (3). Football became my ticket to a college scholarship which, in western Pennsylvania during the early sixties, meant a career instead of getting stuck in the steel mills (4). • 33. Summary Of Machete Season Viewing the perpetrators of vile deeds as motivated merely by evil is a gross oversimplification. In the introduction, Jean Hatzfield states that the story will follow the lives of the killers: the Hutu men who perpetrated the Rwandan genocide and murdered their Tutsi neighbors en masse. The narration style switches between chapters written in third person omniscient style and chapters composed of many short sections of first person narratives from the perspectives of the Hutu men interviewed by the author. The third person chapters provide context for the stories of the Hutus, while the numerous stories themselves add a personal element that reveals the thoughts and mindsets of the Hutu s who participated in one of the largest and most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By establishing humans as inherently capable of evil, and perpetrators of evil as no less human, Hatzfield encourages a nuanced understanding of the causes of genocide. In doing so, Hatzfield warns readers of the ease with which genocide can take place and cautions against allowing prejudice to take hold in communities. In Rwanda, Hutus lived with Tutsis as friends and neighbors mere days prior to slaughtering them. However, the groundwork for the massacres was the result of plans and preparations formulated essentially by collective decision long before the genocide began (52). Radio propaganda drove tensions far in advance, and the assassination of the Hutu president was not the reason for the genocide but the signal for it to finally begin. Hatzfield establishes this point by humanizing the Hutus. One of the interviewees explains that when you receive a new order, you hesitate but you obey, or else you re taking a risk. When you have been prepared the right way by the radios and the official advice, you obey more easily, even if the order is to kill your neighbors (71). While this could easily be dismissed as an excuse born of fear and guilt, understanding the truth of this statement is crucial to the prevention of further mass violence; indeed, if the preparation through propaganda and conditioning can be identified, ... • 35. Outdoor Graduation Do you remember the day you graduated from high school? Do you recall the joy and happiness you experienced when you stepped up on that stage to receive your diploma? in general, students look forward to the day they graduate high school. Where the students have their graduation ceremonies has been debated by students for many years. Although outdoor graduations may cost more than indoor and require a lot more effort, they could be worth a student s time and money in the end. That is why an outdoor graduation should be a student s first choice over an indoor graduation. First off, an outdoor graduation should be a student s first choice because it would allow more people to attend the ceremony. for example, if a graduating class consists of more than 500 people, then there would be limited space at an indoor graduation for students and families. At an outdoor graduation, space is an available resource and more people would be able to attend. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The money would cover most of the expenses required to set up for an outdoor ceremony. I think it does matter, because a high school student only graduates once, and graduation should be a memorable experience. And where would you rather make good memories? This global system of trade and money is seen most pronouncedly by the the United State s national debt, which stands at over 1.9 trillion dollars owed to various nations across the world. Child Labor South Sudan And India Child Labor in South Sudan and India Tatiana Wettstein San Jose State University Chad 106 Laura Pirazzi Child Labor: South Sudan (Annet, 2011) Conflict and poverty are all too common in the country of South Sudan, along with one of the more overlooked issues of Child Labor. South Sudan is a country with some of the highest rates of child labor. The country has made progress in making laws and regulations, organizations and agencies and social programs that target child labor. The problem is that these developments are not effective in reducing the child labor in South Sudan. It is important to understand what the Sudanese government is doing that isn t working and why it isn t working in order to reduce child labor significantly in this country. Background The leading causes for child labor in South Sudan include poverty and the political crisis of the South Sudan government. The South Sudan government has been fighting with rebel factions, which has ultimately resulted in child abduction into the armed forces and young girls being trafficked to work as sex slaves. Poverty has also served as a major contributor to child labor in South Sudan (Canagarajah Nielson, 2001). Murillo was the most famous Spanish Baroque painter of his time, known for his religious works. Murillo was the youngest of fourteen children, born to Gaspar Esteban, a barber, and María Perez . Murillo gained his surname from a traditional Andalusian custom, taking the name of his grandmother, Elvira Murillo. In 1627, Murillo s father passed away, and his mother died a year later. Even despite this, the 1660 s were the busiest in Murillo s entire career. His portraits from this time are some of his best,. In 1680, Murillo was commissioned to paint the main altarpiece for the Capuchins church in Cádiz. This was an incredible honor. While working up on a scaffold, Murillo fell and died soon after. During his lifetime, Murillo left an incredible art legacy. His style has similarities from his teacher, and Zurbarán, the most popular painter in Seville before himself. In his early years, Murillo painted in the style known as Chiaroscuro. Chiaroscuro is a style with strong contrast between light and dark. Murillo used a lot of lighting techniques he learned from Zurbaran, but Murillo s works were lighter and softer than Zurbaran. Overtime, Murillo stopped painting in Chiaroscuro, and his style evolved to be lighter and more like the style of Federico Barocci. His trip to Madrid further changed his style, encouraging him to use thick brushstrokes, warm tones, highlights, and richer color. In Murillo s late life, his style changed again. Murillo used looser brush strokes, and sober colors. It is said that his work during this time in his life was vaporous and more refined. One of his more famous paintings is called The Young Beggar and is on display at the Musée du Louvre, in Paris, France. This painting shows a sad beggar boy sitting alone on a street ...
