How to Treat a Stained Tooth Fissure
Introduction
The morphological configuration of the occlusal surface of the first permanent molar is the most
vulnerable and susceptible tooth surface to dental decay and the incidence of caries on these surfaces
is still rising. There are occasions where the fissures of these teeth are stained and at the time of
deciding the appropriate treatment the question arises whether we should or we should not treat them.
When there are dentists that think that seal over a stained fissure is the right treatment choice, there is
evidence suggested by others that a stained fissure should not be treated as a sound fissure.
There are teeth with questionable or suspicious occlusal surfaces, in which we can notice that there
have been changes from the clear sound fissures even without loss of surface and it is dubious to
decide whether or not it should be treated as it could be an incipient but not cavitated fissure. A stained
fissure means a fissure that is discoloured, brown or black, even an area of white or opaque enamel
where its normal translucidency is lost but it has no evidence of surface breakdown (cavitation).
Discoloured fissures does not necessary indicate an active caries process and they may represent
sounds surfaces (where the discolouration descends from organic material trapped in the fissure) or
non cavitated caries lesions (where the demineralised enamel has been stained and possibly arrested).
It is doubtful if a discoloured fissure expresses generally a viable

Essay on The Power of the Atomic Bomb in Shaping the...
The Power of the Atomic Bomb in Shaping the Post War World
There were few men in Washington who understood the role the atomic bomb could play in ending
World War II and shaping the peace. Military planning focused on two options, conventional bombing
accompanied by a blockade or an invasion of the Japanese home islands. Both options were so
problematic politically and militarily that policymakers who were familiar with the Manhattan Project
found it difficult to oppose the bomb s use. There were also few men who knew the role the bomb
could play in winning the peace. President Harry S. Truman, Secretary of State James F. Byrnes, and
Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson saw the bomb as a way to shape the post war world in the

It had the benefit of speed. Since the Casablanca conference, achieving Japanese surrender as early as
possible following the capitulation of Germany had been the strategic objective in the Pacific.
However, on May 25th, 1945 Truman had stated a new objective of economizing American lives to
the greatest extent possible. The Army plan for invading Kyushu was the most costly option in terms
of lives, but it was the quickest. It was based on a directive to end the war in the Pacific within 12
months of V E Day. Casualty estimates for the first thirty days of operations against Kyushu ranged
from 30,000 to 50, 000. The Army plan was grossly handicapped by its reliance on Soviet entry into
the Pacific War. General Douglas MacArthur considered a Soviet attack in Manchuria a prerequisite
for invasion. Considering the Polish crisis of April 1945 and growing tensions over Soviet behavior in
occupied Europe, Soviet involvement in East Asia was less than desirable. The best recommendation
of the Navy was a plan that offered no reasonable prediction of when Japan would be defeated. The
Army plan for invasion, which the JCS approved over the Navy plan, required Soviet entry into the
war to ensure success. Their entry would allow them to consolidate their Yalta concessions in
Manchuria and possibly allow them to exert influence over China. In addition to this diplomatic
problem, the invasion plan was the more costly in terms of casualties. Truman

In spite of the fact that Nike confronted monstrous misfortunes and substantial specialized issues, they

What Is The Comparison Of Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies
Fear and religion motivate human behavior in extreme situations. When confronted with catastrophic
situations, we often wonder if bravery is dissimilar to cowardice. In Lord of the Flies a group of boys
are marooned on an island during a war. The book portrays the struggle of Ralph, Jack, and the other
boys to survive alone when law, order, and civilization are removed. The Mist tells of a group of locals
stranded in a supermarket while deadly otherworldly creature roam the world. David Drayton initially
leads the civilians, but Mrs. Carmody, a mentally unstable religious woman, soon attracts a following,
acting contrary to the rules of civilization Mr. Drayton tries to maintain. [Although William Golding s
Lord of the Flies and the film adaptation of Stephen King s The Mist both portray human nature as
fundamentally evil, fear and religion in each story affect and motivate the characters differently and
combine to result in strikingly different resolutions.]
Both Lord of the Flies and The Mist define human nature in similar fashions. Golding explains the
darkness of man s heart through his characters descent into savagery (184). As the rules Ralph and
Piggy try to maintain are disregarded, an increasing number of boys soon turn to Jack, and therefore
anarchy, for leadership. In doing so, the boys progressively become more barbaric. Jack s tribe kill
Simon and Piggy and attempt to do so with Ralph. Thus, as the boys attempt to destroy what remains
of civility, their inner

Systems Analyst Vs. A Business Analyst And A Software...
Many run into the problem of differentiating between a systems analyst and a business analyst and a
software developer. In fact, in a lot of places one person could do all of those jobs or one could just
not be present. These jobs in the workforce, while similar in many ways simply because they re IT
jobs, are vastly different things. Systems analyst are those who take a IT system and study it trying to
make sure everything is good. A business analyst while helping with the system, forces on making
sure that the business side of things are running properly and always looking for a way to improve
them. A software developer is there to develop the software that keeps the business running as well as
be what the other two analyst look to, to make the system. Despite their differences, these three jobs
are finely interwoven together, making them all an important part of a company and to lose one would
only set a company back. Most notably, a systems analyst and a business analyst and a software
developer differ in what their duties are, and what these jobs roles focus on. The first difference
between all threes is what their duties are in a company; while all are vital to a company, each of has
very different duties in helping a company. A systems analyst is responsible for researching, planning,
coordinating and recommending software and system choices to meet the company s needs. This
means knowing what the company needs in terms of software, meeting those who will be using it

Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman Essay
Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman
In the book Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman, the central thesis that he tries to point out is
that emotional intelligence may be more important than I.Q. in determining a person s well being and
success in life. At first I didn t know what Goleman was talking about when he said emotional
intelligence, but after reading the book I have to say that I agree completely with Goleman. One
reason for my acceptance of Goleman s theory is that academic intelligence has little to do with
emotional life. To me, emotions can be just as intelligent as your I.Q. In this essay I hope to provide
sufficient evidence to show why I agree with Goleman s thesis on emotional intelligence.
The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goleman states, Emotional aptitude is a meta ability, determining how well we can use whatever other
skills we have, including raw intellect. People that have high emotional intelligence are more likely to
be satisfied and effective in their lives. Others who have trouble with this cannot manage themselves
so their ability for successful work and clear thought are altered.
In contrast to this, you can say that I.Q. is better than emotional intelligence. Having a high I.Q. does
offer a lot of benefits. Goleman states that people with a high I.Q. are ambitious, productive, and
uneasy with sexual and sensual experience. That high I.Q. people are the caricature of the intellectual,
adept in the realm of mind but inept in the personal world. And all of this is just for the men. Goleman
states, The profiles differ slightly for men and women. High I.Q. women have intellectual confidence,
are fluent in expressing their thoughts and have a wide range of intellectual and aesthetic interests.
Goleman also does point out that these are extremes and that everyone mixes I.Q. and emotional
intelligence in varying degrees. But this does give us an instructive look at what each of these
dimensions adds to a person s qualities.
In the book, Emotional Intelligence, Goleman talks about two psychologists (Sternberg and Salovey)
who have taken a wider view on intelligence and give terms of what they think it takes to lead a
successful life. They mention five

Analysis Of Martin Luther King Letter From Birmingham Jail
Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote a letter called, Letter from Birmingham Jail . This letter was written to
clergymen who criticized his nonviolent approach. It was written in 1963 during the height of the
Civil Rights movement. This letter s purpose is to show the way that King felt about his movement to
create a more equal society than what he was living in and what he thought about his nonviolent acts
contrary to the clergyman. In the beginning of this text, there is a letter from the clergymen that
critiques the protest that King led. The clergymen essentially say that King s protest is unwise and
there are better ways to fix the problem of racial friction. They write:
Just as we formerly pointed out that hatred and violence have no sanction in our religious and political
traditions, we also point out that such actions as incite to hatred and violence, however technically
peaceful those actions may be, have not contributed to the resolution of our local problems.(372)
The clergymen continue to state that the Negro community should completely stop participating in
these protests and handle the issue in the courts. The rest of the text is King s response to the
clergymen. He first states that the clergymen only mentioned the problem and not what caused it by
writing:
You deplore the demonstrations that are presently taking place in Birmingham. But I am sorry that
your statement did not express as similar concern for the conditions that brought the demonstrations
into being.(374)
He is saying that they are complaining about the fact that they are protesting in their town, but really
they should be thinking about what they are doing to cause these protests. If they were doing
something to prevent the segregation that is being protested then they would also be preventing the
protests. King then goes on to talk about the segregation in Birmingham and he writes, On the basis of
these conditions, Negro leaders sought to negotiate with the city fathers. But the political leaders
consistently refused to engage in good faith negotiation (375). Here King is responding to the
clergymen and how they told the Negroes to solve their protests in the courts. He is stating here that
the Negro community has tried that

History, Principles And Value Of Infant Observation
Introduction To quote child analyst Esther Bick, one may have to sit with children for a long time
completely in the dark about what is going on, until something suddenly comes up from the depth that
illuminates it. (Bick 1962, p.632). Infant observation is a powerful tool when working with children
that helps clarify what it is that comes up from the depth . This paper will briefly outline the history,
principles and value in infant observation. I will then further examine my own experience of infant
observation of four year old S. My observations of S had recurring themes of perfectionism, obsessive
compulsive behaviours and avoidance. S was extremely shy and constantly sought teacher approval.
By examining attachment theory, the emotions of shame and guilt, containment, the drive to know,
mental pain and false self, I was able to psychoanalysis S s unconscious thoughts and feelings which
were conveyed in her behaviour.
History of Psychotherapy and Infant Observation Sigmund Freud is known as the founder of
psychotherapy. Freud was interested in the emotional relationship between the past and the present,
and the feelings it generated. Subsequently Abraham (1924), Klein (1928), Fairbairn (1952) among
others, further developed Freud s work of the emotional life. They examined the earliest relationships
of infancy and the processes these set up within the developing mind. Winnicott (1949), Bick (1968)
Bion (1962) and Bowlby (1969) took this work further by

Reflection On Interpersonal Communication
Reflection Paper I have taken Interpersonal Communication before during the summer 2016, but I
didn t pass it mainly because I wasn t as focused as I was in this class. Professor Castro just made it
fun. Her lectures and her stories made it interesting. Every Mondays and Wednesdays, I had three
classes. Interpersonal Communication would be my first class to start my day. Then two classes after
that. I ended up dropping those two classes. I was supposed to drop this class too but I didn t because I
wanted to learn more. I ve been in a relationship with my girlfriend for almost a year and one of the
problems we had was listening. Sometimes she wouldn t listen to me or I just wouldn t listen to her at
all. The day we had a lecture about listening in class, that same morning, we got in an argument about
how I don t listen to her. I always listen to her but not when we argue. I usually avoid her when we are
about to start arguing. I found it funny how the professor somehow knew I was in trouble with
listening and she decided to have a lecture on listening. Unlike a history class or a math class or even
reading class, this class actually helped me outside of school. I also learned that my professor is a
volunteer basically everywhere. She participates in marches whenever she can. Her age doesn t stop
her from making the community better and standing up for what she believes in. She is an inspiration.
She asked the class to volunteer somewhere for three hours which was pretty cool. I haven t had any
class in college where volunteering out in the community was a requirement. Because I had to
volunteer for a grade in class, I am now volunteering for the resist march in Los Angeles, June 11. I
wouldn t be going out to volunteer for this event if it weren t for this class. Knowing that my professor
goes to protests and marches at her age, she is truly an inspiration. I don t usually have time to go out
to marches anymore but seeing that she still does, I d want to participate more in the community. Now
only problem I had in this class was that I never really had my own seat. I moved to different seats
every time we had class. I felt very comfortable sitting in the back, but the professor doesn t like

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Phased Effort Distribution
3.2.1 Phased effort distribution
Reasonable resources allocation to software phases is a vital factor for the success of software
projects‎
[52].Effort distribution to phases is the key to a more efficient resource allocation.
This approach is proposed to estimate the effort of migrated services. The effort is estimated for
different project phases. The service s cost often varies depending on the migration strategy used; this
is mainly because each migration strategy has its own cost factors. In this approach, the cost factors of
SOA are extracted from previous literatures .These cost factors are distributed among SOA project
phases. Each cost factor is given a weight for each migration strategy. These weights of different
factors are grouped by project phase. All the weights of all factors are aggregated per migration
strategy. The relative effort ratio for each phase is calculated by dividing the total weights of the phase
factors to the total weight of the migration strategy The whole process is summarized in Figure 12.

The Gilded Six Bits In the short stories, Sweat and The Gilded Six bit , by Zora Neale Hurston, both
take place in her hometown of Eatonville, Florida, during the early 1900s. Eatonville was one of the
first towns founded by African Americans in the US. Because they are set in the same town, the stories
characters speak in a broken, English dialect of the South, to reflect the era and location in which they
lived. These stories depict identical circumstances with different consequences. They illustrate the

Sykes. Sykes, what you throw dat whip on me like dat? You know it would skeer me looks just like a

as well. With Joe s constant praise of Slemmons, this ironically contributed to Missy s betrayal as he
constantly peaked her interest about him. Joe and Missy May dont realize that they possess something
far more valuable than gold. They have each other s love, which proves to be a very strong thing
nonetheless. Missy May almost throws this away for a gold coin, to which she finds out that it is just a

Argumentative Essay On Child Slavery
Today the world faces the horrible fact that child slavery and labor happens, and affects children all
around the world in places such as Africa, Asia, and Latin America, children are forced to work in
horrible conditions and work for small wages. They are also sold into slavery, never to see their
families again. The majority of these children are deprived the rights given to them in the United
Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In Article 3 it states that everyone has the right to
life, liberty, and the security of person. These children are having all this taken away from them. In
Article 4 it states that no one shall be held in servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited
in all their forms. These children are slaves and are being forced to do things that they don t want to
do. The United States was founded on freedom and liberty. They should help others achieve the
American standard of living. Also the United States should help based on these two articles and what
the document stands for is freedom to all. I believe that the departments that will help the most are the
Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, and Central

Ethnocentrism In Prejudging Places
Put on your thinking caps and think of the last time you pre judged someone based upon culture? I
think it is safe to assume everyone has experienced first hand the act of prejudging culture. Culture
comes in many shapes and forms, such as ways of dressing, dating, or eating, as we learned about on
January 3, 2017 lecture. Ultimately, judging someone in view of their culture, or way of living, before
getting to know them is called ethnocentrism (page 37 in Communicate!). We discover ethnocentrism
in a multitude of different places, for example in the market, workplace, school, or restaurants (page
191 in Communicate!). Many people are guilty of making these judgements of culture each day. These
predicaments of culture can be made by public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why does ethnocentrism exist? Well, I firmly believe it exists because of our lack of respect,
knowledge, and consideration for others. My impression perceives to be that the world we live in is
too fast paced. Everything we do is by a touch of a button! We do not take the time to gain knowledge
of other people s way of living, therefore we create automatic assumptions of others as if at a push of a
button, see the connection? Assumptions can happen as fast as a millisecond, because of looks, dress,
or makeup. Therefore, I read an article the other day about ethnocentrism in the hospital. If you have
never been a patient at a hospital, let me tell you the basics. When admitted to a hospital and the
procedure will require an overnight stay, the patient would be assigned a room for the night, as well as
a bed to sleep on. The patient, usually, would not be allowed to stand, or walk during their stay (for
precautionary reasons). That being said, to receive the attention of a nursing assistant or a nurse, the
patient is required to press a hand held red button in order to obtain assistance to go for a walk, go to
the bathroom, etc. This article that I came across told the story of a nurse, a patient, significant other,
and a nursing assistant. In the

The Pros And Cons Of Uniforms In Schools
School uniforms: a debate that has been tossed back and forth for years now. The percentage of
schools that necessitate uniforms and the percentage of the ones that do not are approximately equal.
This conveys a dispute that is difficult to find a definite solution for, due to the ambiguous negatives
and positives being drawn between both arguments. Uniforms being a part of school systems became
widespread first after Long Beach, California implemented them into their elementary and middle
schools. It is safe to say that since then, schools have become far more lenient with what restrictions
students have when it comes to uniforms. However, some others disagree with the policies on

Accepting uniforms in a school will help it present itself in a more professional and safe manner. For
instance, if someone were to come up to the school requesting entrance wearing clothing previously
banned, it would be a cause for suspicion. This could assist schools in being more efficient in the
event of a lockdown or emergency. Meanwhile, schools are still being regularly threatened to date; a
study states
In addition, school uniforms are generally a benefit for parents, economically. With uniforms having
the same style every year, albeit with occasional leniencies, there is not much cause for buying new
uniforms yearly besides from a child growing. Without a school uniform, teenagers quickly tire of
what they wear to school and want to get new clothes around every month. This is due to students
wanting to stay with the times and the latest trends. In the logic of the adolescent mind, if you have the
latest clothes, then it will boost your reputation and status on the school map, and so a time consuming
cycle is forged. This would cost the parents more of their salary that could be better spent on

18th Amendment Pros And Cons
3rd Housing soldiers was a common practice militaries used for shelter. It was a form of home
invasion by the government, and prohibiting this gave citizens more sense of security to their property,
and not involving them in the war which they aren t fighting. Although, the only time that soldiers
need housing is when we mobilize soldiers, otherwise they should be at bases. As much as this was
relevant in the 1800 s, we haven t had a need to use civilian s homes for military purposes. There isn t
much to say about this amendment anymore. 18th I know lots of other students see this amendment
flawed simply because you can t ban alcohol, then maybe even lead that into some fabricated
argument about marijuana because this is Arapahoe. Prohibition isn t some type of morality issue to
me, nor supporting it as a device to make you righteous. That being said, I find the presents of alcohol
and other feel good drugs in our first world useless. I repeatedly see articles saying how the 18th
amendment has done more harm than good, but the level of damages caused by alcohol s influence
unprsidenly sets that harm to shame and the ideology of the amendment is the only good. I can go on
and on about how pathetic I find people who abuse and rely on its effects, but I will spare you the
bantering of my thinks he s always right teenager opinion. I dislike this amendment not because I
disagreed with it, but because it failed and will forever be an argument against any future law

Standardized Tests Argument
Standardized tests argument Do we really need 20 25 hours for testing? Some people think testing is
fine the way it is. I think testing needs a change. We spend way too much time doing standardized
tests that don t even measure the skills people need in life. My main pieces of evidence are, the
government is suggesting shorter tests, many other factors can affect standardized test scores, and my
last piece of evidence is standardized tests don t measure all the skills people need in life. My first
piece of evidence is the government is suggesting shorter tests. Kids spend on average 20 25 hours

One thing standardized tests doesn t measure is creativity, or how well we think about it. Another
thing is verbal skills, it doesn t measure how well we speak or read. We ve been taking the same IQ

paragraph explains that standardized tests don t measure all the skills people need in life. Some people
believe the test does not need to be changed and that it is just fine. 20 25 hours of testing is just the
right amount of testing to give the correct data. I think not, it still does not measure life skills and it is
way too long. So now you know why the test needs changing. This essay explains why we need

Persuasive Techniques Used In William Lutz s The Language...
Advertisements cannot triumph unless they capture our attention. The advertisers uses different
strategies so those advertising messages do not screened out from our head. The language used in

Grandmother s Love
The Importance of a Grandmother s Love Many grandmothers are important people because many
times they give love to their family. Their love can make their family comfortable, make life easier,

grandmother ruled over her family with her authoritative personality. And also, Hampl s grandmother

Textual Analysis Of Sleep
Most people do not get enough sleep. We have created an all natural solution. Elite Sleep is a
wristband that uses all natural ingredients that will improve the quality of your sleep. After I came up
with the idea for this product I researched if this product already existed or not and it did not. Since
this product did not exist, no one knew anything about it. Based on this, I reasoned that the first
advertisement endorsing anything should be informative, so I ended up with a logos centered ad with
some pathos and ethos appeal thrown in. As far as demographics of my audience are concerned, I tried

Now I actually begin to describe the product starting with how it is an improvement on the melatonin

natural ingredients and their characteristics, which is an appeal to people who like natural, wholesome
products over chemicals as well as an implied thought process of, Do I want natural ingredients or
chemicals in my sleep aid? . I explain the natural characteristics of these oils later in the ad. I then
describe the actual wristband and the reservoir of oils and the background changes again, to a picture
of the oil resivoir. It is a simple design, which appeals to many people because if the design is simple,
it should be easy to use. Nobody wants to have to struggle with a complicated piece of technology at
bedtime, they just want to go to sleep, and this product is far from complicated. Next, I list the oils in
the wristband because people have heard of at least some of these oils before and believe that they are
beneficial, and thus I am appealing to the credibility of these oils. These oils naturally relax the body
for sleep, and I explicitly state this fact as a direct appeal to the natural, chemical free nature of this
product. I also mention the fact that these oils have their greatest effect when applied to the inside of
your wrists to complete the image of a product without flaws. The last strategy I use is a suggestion to
try Elite Sleep, which should be an effective strategy considering the evidence presented in the ad.

The Importance Of Being In The Policy Debate
Debate is an activity that has existed for an extremely long time. People all over the world have
participated in debates, whether a debate in a formal setting or a friendly argument between
acquaintances. Policy debate is a form of debate in which high schoolers and college students discuss
policy ideas to fix problems happening in society. This has also expanded to include philosophical
ideas to fix social situations. Numerous students enter debate hoping to learn skills that could help
them one day to actually fix the problems of the status quo. This idea of why students do debate begs
the question of How does being in the policy debate community change and/or support one s desire for

that helping others makes them better than those who don t. This also applies to those who run
affirmatives in which they discuss social issues that affect minorities, since they feel the need to help

David Wesley s Five Healthy Patterns

he terms healthy patterns, in congregational mission partnerships. Wesley observes that in the
emerging third way of missions that began at the end of the 20th century and is coming into its own in
the early 21st century is focusing on congregational partnerships. As such, Wesley seeks to lay out
common patterns for healthy global partnerships observed in these congregational partnerships.
Consequently, Wesley presents five healthy patterns around which common mission can flourish.

relationship model that describes a synthesis of the donor and recipient into something greater than the
sum of its parts. This is the pinnacle of congregational partnerships where reciprocity becomes the

Comparison Between Remember And Stop All Of The Clocks
Each individual has a unique way of coping with death, and this is evident throughout Christina
Rossetti s, Remember and W. H. Auden s Stop all of the Clocks . In the first stanza of Remember ,
Rossetti allows the reader to explore the narrator s thought about death. When she writes ......Gone far
away into the silent land;/ When you can no more hold me by the hand.... the narrator believes that
death is final because that connection cannot ever be re established regardless of how much one wants
it. The silent land and gone away are metaphors for death, and when the narrator says that no one will
be able to hold me (her) by the hand , this symbolises the one thing death takes, the physical presence
of the person. Likewise, Auden s Stop all of the Clocks , explores death with imperatives. Auden
writes Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,/ Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,/
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum/Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Because the
narrator wants life to cease, because with the death of their loved one, there is no purpose in life and it
simply cannot (........) . Similarly, as Stop all of the Clocks develops the narrator metaphorically and
onomatopoeically highlights that everything in life must acknowledge the death and experience it with
him. Outward signs of cotton gloves and bows with doves is a metaphor for the person s
acknowledgement of death. The importance of the deceased love extends to every facet of the narrator
s life because they belonged in every moment that the narrator lived. In this moment of grief, the
narrator feels betrayed because they invested in a love which was not eternal. ... Show more content

The On The Employment Rights Act
In 1996, The Employment Rights Act was introduced, an employee was defined therein as an
individual who works under contracts of employment, however it fails to define what is meant by a
contract of service . A retrospective view of the UK indicates that there is no generic denotation of an
employee created through legislative processes. It is imperative to note the court is the major
determinant of the status of the parties in an employment relationship. The court therefore put together
a series of tests to regulate employment contracts which involves an application of diverse common
law tests distinguished by Simon Deakin and Gillian Morris in 2000. The primary classes of those
tests are; The control test The integration test The economic reality test The mutuality of obligation
test The multiple test This essay will critically assess the tests that separate contract of services and
contract for services and if one test is a sufficient determinant. It will also explore the consequences of
concluding that a person is an employee. Initially, the courts used a single test known as the control
test . At this point employees were not specialized like what is obtainable today. This test emerged in
the connection with imputed negligence and it appeared to be sensible to consider the authority over
employee by an employer. Bramwell LJ said on account of Yewens v Noakes (1880) that an employee
is subordinate to his employer and takes instruction from his employer

Benjamin Franklin As A Representation Of The Enlightenment
Wade Cobb
Dr. Boeninger
DWC 201
19 October 2015
Benjamin Franklin as a Representation of the Enlightenment The Enlightenment was largely a rational
response to the 16th and 17th century Scientific Revolution, as well as major developments in
philosophical thinking, such as ideas proposed by Rene Descartes. During the Enlightenment, thinkers
emphasize rational and critical ways of thinking, rather than the complete reliance on religion that had
been previously accepted. In many ways, Benjamin Franklin was the human embodiment of the Age
of Enlightenment. Similarly to the Enlightenment as a time period, Benjamin Franklin is influenced
by, but strays from his upbringing in a strict Puritan context in order to establish beliefs based on
reason and the scientific method. Franklin used highly thought out and methodological techniques for
deciding things from a daily schedule all the way to his views on morality and virtue. He was a life
long learner, and like the Age of Enlightenment itself, he put reason as the ultimate factor for
knowledge and decision making.
Corresponding to the Enlightenment, Franklin was affected by his Christian background. His parents
were devout Puritans, and being raised in their household, the Christian outlook left its mark on
certain aspects of Franklin s beliefs. For example, in his letter to the Yale University President Ezra
Stiles in 1790 reveals an important commonality in his beliefs in relation to Puritan, and other Judeo

The New Zealand s Constitution Essay
LAWS121 Essay:
New Zealand s constitution is very unique and is the base of our legal system. The constitution is
unwritten allowing a variety of elements that make up our constitution some are; constitution
conventions and statutes. New Zealand s constitution structure is separated into three branches; the
legislature, judiciary and the executive . The executive is the decision making branch, it is believed
that the executive is where the real power of parliamentary supremacy lies, as the decisions they make
influence the process of legislation . Throughout this essay I will emphasise how statutes are more
important and effective in contrast to constitution conventions.
Constitution conventions are instruments that form the New Zealand constitution. They are customary
non legal rules that modify and regulate the nature of the constitution or government . Conventions
were introduced through customs that develop over time and are dependent on those who construct
and obey the law, becoming entrenched. The nature of conventions itself are flexible, therefore it
cannot be judicially enforced . Statutes are vital to the consitution, they are written sources of
legislation, where they can be legally enforcable especially in courts, therefore cannot be flexible in
ways that conventions are viewed . Statutes hold vital rules that are used to restrain the executives
actions, they also are used to enact authority through courses of actions or prohibiting certain matters.

Women Of The First World War I
A major part in the First World War was taking care of people and helping people. A woman who was
a nurse during the First World War, Edith Cavell, took a stand in history by using her skills for the
better and helped allied service men escape from Belgium, which was occupied by Germany. Because
of this act, she was executed for treason by being shot by a firing squad, and her death made her
internationally known. She became an iconic symbol for the allied cause and was most remembered
for her courage in facing execution with calmness and composure. She is a well known figure in
history.
Edith Cavell was a nurse who helped injured people in World War I. She was born on December 4th,

The Pros And Cons Of Whaling
The term whaling describes the inhumane hunting down and killing of whales. This happens on
expeditions that are carried out for the sole purpose of killing whales to collect their meat, oil, and
bones (Herrera and Hoagland, 2004). The most commonly killed are the Humpback whale (Megaptera
novaeangliae), the Right Whales (Eubalaena), the Minke whales (Baleanoptera) and the Fin Whale
(Balaenoptera physalus). Because of the major decline in the populations of these whales, a
commission was created. The International Whaling Commission, otherwise known as the IWC, was
created in order to help enforce and regulate laws regarding Whaling (Herrera and Hoagland, 2004). It

The increase in the fishing industry could be due to any number of things such as the weather, the time
of year, or even the lack of a whale s presence. It does not suggest that the whales are consuming the
fish or that they are depleting important fish populations. Also, it has been proven that commercial
whaling does impact the whaling industries in pro whaling countries. If money is the end goal for
some of these countries they could just adopt the whale watching industry rather than commercial
whaling because in the end, due to conservation movements, it will probably be making more money.
If Japan wants to continue whaling under scientific research pretenses, then I m sure they can find
more humane and less invasive ways to collect data such as studying beached or already dead whales
rather than killing them, as well as taking samples from live whales using minimally invasive
techniques. Furthermore, in countries such as Norway who commercially whale specifically for the
meat for human consumption, well they should be required to put warning labels on whale meat

Burger King s Successful Fast Food Restaurants
Burger King is one of the most successful fast food restaurants in the world. Burger King has been
very effective in applying their strategic vision and mission statement to build their brand. The
leadership team has positioned Burger King for a path of continued domestic and international growth,
because of a strong brand recognition and quality products. Burger King uses two generic strategies to
deal with competition, they are differentiation and cost leadership. Cost leadership within Burger King
is essential to minimize costs. This allows Burger King to control margins and operating costs. For
Burger King to offer such competitive prices, they have to reduce operating costs, but at the same time
they need to provide a quality product that the customers want. Burger King also uses a differentiation
strategy. A good example would be the way they grill their products and the specific techniques they
use for products such as the Whopper . The marketing teams has also formed slogans such as Have It
Your Way and the most current slogan Be Your Way . These slogans attempt to form a differentiation
pattern in the consumer s minds. These marketing slogans are also used to attract new customers
especially in the competitive market such as the fast food market. These techniques have allowed
Burger King to reach out to new and current customers.

According to Bosch et al., the 1990s produced the key results of case control and cohort studies, and
witnessed an increasing number of results on the clinical uses of HPV DNA testing in screening and
triage, [24] and, as Liaw et al. (1995) noted in their case control studies, it was also becoming
apparent that those with multiple HPV infections have a higher risk of developing cancer of the
cervix. [26]
With the changing dimension of research studies having confirmed that HPV was a necessary cause of
cervical cancer, epidemiological studies advanced to associating different strains of HPV to different
anogenital pathologies, categorizing different histological forms of cervical cancer in relation to HPV
strains and highlighting other risk factors that may play a prominent role or catalyze the carcinogesis
process. For instance, Ngelangel et al. (1998) in their hospital based case control studying the
Philippines detected HPV DNA in 93.8% case subjects with squamous cell carcinoma, 90.9% in case
subjects with adenocarcinoma/adenosquamous carcinoma as opposed to just 9.2% of control subjects.
[27] They observed the presence of fifteen different HPV types in squamous cell carcinoma, and six
different HPV types in adenocarcinoma/adenosquamous carcinoma while noting that, apart from HPV
16 and HPV 18, HPV45 had the strongest association with squamous cell carcinoma. [27] The same

Emerson, S Views Of Beliefs In Emerson And Emerson s Thoughts
1. According to Emerson, the genius idea, is the idea that an individual can speak their minds. As it
states, To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in our private heart is true for
all men, that is genius (Emerson 266). The individuals, who withstand from the lies and deception of
society and speak their thoughts truly are the ideal concept of a genius to Emerson. 2. Emerson s
opinions of envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide , display his thoughts that an individual should
not be jealous of others abilities and that impersonating their abilities, will not better the individual
and not create confidence in their thoughts. In other words, ...that he must take himself for better, for
worse, as his portion... (Emerson 267). Being able to accept yourself in the truest form and being able
to express yourself in every situation in life, is what makes covetous thoughts undesirable. 3. Emerson
values nonconformists, for they display traits of determination and strength when it comes to the
publics opinions, similar to Emerson s beliefs. To illustrate, For non conformity the world whips you
with its displeasure. And therefore a man must know how to estimate a sour face (Emerson 272). A
man needs be sure of his thoughts and can defend his thoughts when society disagrees. For the society
is too lazy to hold their own opinions and thoughts to withstand the majority s votes. 4. Emerson uses
the phrase, A foolish consistency is the

Paid Paternity Leave
My mother, like most mothers, took off work after I was born. Taking time off work post partum is
customary around the world, but living in Colombia when I was born, my mom received one hundred
percent maternity leave for fourteen weeks. Colombia is not the only country that offers some form of
maternity, in reality every country offers some form of maternity leave besides Papua New Guinea and
the United States. Most European countries even so far to grant some variation of paid paternity leave.
Why is the United States the only first world country that does not have a law that guarantees some
variation of paid paternal leave? Paternal leave gives countless benefits to the newborn child and the
parents. A research study done by Harvard Professor

My Life At The Market
When we arrived at the market it was blistering hot. I had on a blue and white tank top, some rugged
shorts, and some flip flops. My family and I decided they wanted to go shopping; my family consisted
of my cousin, grandma, my mom, and me. My aunt s birthday was coming up and my cousin, wanted
to get her something nice.
I think I should buy my mom a chain for her birthday since, it s coming up. I have this beautiful
Minnie Mouse charm and I just need a chain, my cousin pleaded. If we see a jewelry store we ll see if
we can find you one, my mom stated. The market was big, there was a whole bunch of stores crowded
together and a narrow walkway in the middle. I found a jewelry store three spaces down from the
opening. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her birthday is coming up and I want to get her a chain for the charm I bought her, my cousin said.
Well let s see what we got here, the owner said. He went around the big table in the middle of the
room. Opened one of the glass cases on the wall and pulled out a black, round, necklace holder. There
were all different sorts of chains hanging from the stand gold, silver, long, short, and even rose gold.
He sat the chains on the table. He was across from us on the other side of the table, with a nice
friendly grin on his joyful face and I had my poker face on. Here are some chains that we have, we all
took a look at the chains.
I m looking for a silver chain, my cousin explained. The owner puts the stand back and went under the
counter of the glass cases to the far back wall. He pulled out a stand with all silver chains.
Here you go, he exclaimed. We looked carefully at the chains. My cousin wanted a chain not too big
but, not too small. She finally narrowed her search down to two pretty chains the right size for her.
I like these two, she said. The owner laid the two chains on the table. I m the only one who was smart
enough to look at the price tag. One was $250 and the other one was $300.
300 dollars, For a chain? You have lost you your mind, I said bewildered.
My cousin and grandma carefully examined the price tags. I think the owner realized they weren t
happy and he wasn t going to make a sell when we shook our heads and started to

A Separate Peace Tree
A tree in John Knowles s A Separate Peace, symbolizes the true strengths and weaknesses of two boys
relationship during World War Two. This specific tree really corresponds with what is doing on with
the two boys relationship. When the tree is big and strong the boy s relationship is really thriving.
Once the tree starts to lose branches and weakens the two boy s relationship starts to weaken as well.
Which is implemented all over the book with weak moments in their relationship and strengths. In the
first chapter, Finny and Gene s relationship is strong and this is represented by the healthy tree branch
they and the other boys jump off of into the lake. Gene is not normally the type of person to just jump
out of a tree, but he is willing to because of his trust in Finny. Despite his own fear, Gene trusts Finny
enough to jump. Gene says, With the sensation that I was throwing my life away, I jumped into space
(17). This demonstrates that the trust between the two boys is very strong because Gene is willing to
do things that he is not comfortable with. Since Finny was there by his side he has no problem doing
it. Gene and Finny s relationship is able to thrive when it is healthy like the tree branch that they jump
off. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Gene says, I jounced the limb. Finny, his balance gone, swung his head around to look at me for
an instant with extreme interest, and then he tumbled sideways, broke though little branches below
and hit the bank sickening, unnatural thud (60). This shows how their relationship progressively gets
weakened over time just like the branches that fell from the tree. This incident causes for their
relationship to weaken to the lowest point because Finny s never able to fully recover. The end result
is that their relationship is foreverly weakened, with Finny never able to be completely

Ethics, morality and leadership: The AWB scandal
The series of corporate scandals and transgressions that have emerged over the last decade, including
those associated with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Alcoa, Enron, HIH, Merck, Lehman Brothers,
Parmalat, Union Carbide and WorldCom, have not only contributed to global financial crises. They
have also raised questions about the quality of corporate leadership and ethics, and damaged the
psychological relationships between such companies and their multiple stakeholders. Studies of such
scandals and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But whether this clears the government of responsibility for not acting on the many tip offs about
AWB s behaviour depends on whose test you use.41 According to Australia s prime minister at the
time, John Howard, the test should be one of reasonableness . In the press conference following his
appearance at the Cole Inquiry a few hours earlier, the prime minister countered arguments that his
government should have acted on the dozens of warnings by citing others who had been duped by
AWB. However, there had been numerous earlier warnings of AWB s unethical practices.42 For
example, just a month after AWB made its first payment of US$500 000 into the Jordanian account of
transport company Alia (half owned by the Iraqi government), the Canadian Wheat Board was told by
the Iraqis that to have its wheat contract processed it would have to pay US$700 000 into the same
Jordanian account. The Canadians duly quizzed the propriety of such trucking fees with the UN s
Office of the Iraq Program, to be told it was indeed illegal. If that was the case, then why was AWB
doing just this, they asked.
Questions:
Assessment AWB was a Govt owned company. clearly it had been violating not only the corporation
laws but also the morality and ethics principles. Awb was involved in the act of bribing its overseas
clients to keep

  • 2. How to Treat a Stained Tooth Fissure Introduction The morphological configuration of the occlusal surface of the first permanent molar is the most vulnerable and susceptible tooth surface to dental decay and the incidence of caries on these surfaces is still rising. There are occasions where the fissures of these teeth are stained and at the time of deciding the appropriate treatment the question arises whether we should or we should not treat them. When there are dentists that think that seal over a stained fissure is the right treatment choice, there is evidence suggested by others that a stained fissure should not be treated as a sound fissure. There are teeth with questionable or suspicious occlusal surfaces, in which we can notice that there have been changes from the clear sound fissures even without loss of surface and it is dubious to decide whether or not it should be treated as it could be an incipient but not cavitated fissure. A stained fissure means a fissure that is discoloured, brown or black, even an area of white or opaque enamel where its normal translucidency is lost but it has no evidence of surface breakdown (cavitation). Discoloured fissures does not necessary indicate an active caries process and they may represent sounds surfaces (where the discolouration descends from organic material trapped in the fissure) or non cavitated caries lesions (where the demineralised enamel has been stained and possibly arrested). It is doubtful if a discoloured fissure expresses generally a viable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Power of the Atomic Bomb in Shaping the Post War World There were few men in Washington who understood the role the atomic bomb could play in ending World War II and shaping the peace. Military planning focused on two options, conventional bombing accompanied by a blockade or an invasion of the Japanese home islands. Both options were so problematic politically and militarily that policymakers who were familiar with the Manhattan Project found it difficult to oppose the bomb s use. There were also few men who knew the role the bomb could play in winning the peace. President Harry S. Truman, Secretary of State James F. Byrnes, and Secretary of War Henry L. Since the Casablanca conference, achieving Japanese surrender as early as possible following the capitulation of Germany had been the strategic objective in the Pacific. However, on May 25th, 1945 Truman had stated a new objective of economizing American lives to the greatest extent possible. The Army plan for invading Kyushu was the most costly option in terms of lives, but it was the quickest. It was based on a directive to end the war in the Pacific within 12 months of V E Day. Casualty estimates for the first thirty days of operations against Kyushu ranged from 30,000 to 50, 000. The Army plan was grossly handicapped by its reliance on Soviet entry into the Pacific War. General Douglas MacArthur considered a Soviet attack in Manchuria a prerequisite for invasion. Considering the Polish crisis of April 1945 and growing tensions over Soviet behavior in occupied Europe, Soviet involvement in East Asia was less than desirable. The best recommendation of the Navy was a plan that offered no reasonable prediction of when Japan would be defeated. The Army plan for invasion, which the JCS approved over the Navy plan, required Soviet entry into the war to ensure success. Their entry would allow them to consolidate their Yalta concessions in Manchuria and possibly allow them to exert influence over China. In addition to this diplomatic problem, the invasion plan was the more costly in terms of casualties. Truman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When confronted with catastrophic situations, we often wonder if bravery is dissimilar to cowardice. In Lord of the Flies a group of boys are marooned on an island during a war. The book portrays the struggle of Ralph, Jack, and the other boys to survive alone when law, order, and civilization are removed. The Mist tells of a group of locals stranded in a supermarket while deadly otherworldly creature roam the world. David Drayton initially leads the civilians, but Mrs. Carmody, a mentally unstable religious woman, soon attracts a following, acting contrary to the rules of civilization Mr. Drayton tries to maintain. [Although William Golding s Lord of the Flies and the film adaptation of Stephen King s The Mist both portray human nature as fundamentally evil, fear and religion in each story affect and motivate the characters differently and combine to result in strikingly different resolutions.] Both Lord of the Flies and The Mist define human nature in similar fashions. Golding explains the darkness of man s heart through his characters descent into savagery (184). As the rules Ralph and Piggy try to maintain are disregarded, an increasing number of boys soon turn to Jack, and therefore anarchy, for leadership. In fact, in a lot of places one person could do all of those jobs or one could just not be present. These jobs in the workforce, while similar in many ways simply because they re IT jobs, are vastly different things. Systems analyst are those who take a IT system and study it trying to make sure everything is good. A business analyst while helping with the system, forces on making sure that the business side of things are running properly and always looking for a way to improve them. A software developer is there to develop the software that keeps the business running as well as be what the other two analyst look to, to make the system. Despite their differences, these three jobs are finely interwoven together, making them all an important part of a company and to lose one would only set a company back. Most notably, a systems analyst and a business analyst and a software developer differ in what their duties are, and what these jobs roles focus on. The first difference between all threes is what their duties are in a company; while all are vital to a company, each of has very different duties in helping a company. • 7. Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman Essay Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman In the book Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman, the central thesis that he tries to point out is that emotional intelligence may be more important than I.Q. in determining a person s well being and success in life. At first I didn t know what Goleman was talking about when he said emotional intelligence, but after reading the book I have to say that I agree completely with Goleman. One reason for my acceptance of Goleman s theory is that academic intelligence has little to do with emotional life. To me, emotions can be just as intelligent as your I.Q. In this essay I hope to provide sufficient evidence to show why I agree with Goleman s thesis on emotional intelligence. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Goleman states, Emotional aptitude is a meta ability, determining how well we can use whatever other skills we have, including raw intellect. People that have high emotional intelligence are more likely to be satisfied and effective in their lives. Others who have trouble with this cannot manage themselves so their ability for successful work and clear thought are altered. In contrast to this, you can say that I.Q. is better than emotional intelligence. Having a high I.Q. does offer a lot of benefits. Goleman states that people with a high I.Q. are ambitious, productive, and uneasy with sexual and sensual experience. That high I.Q. people are the caricature of the intellectual, adept in the realm of mind but inept in the personal world. And all of this is just for the men. Goleman states, The profiles differ slightly for men and women. High I.Q. women have intellectual confidence, are fluent in expressing their thoughts and have a wide range of intellectual and aesthetic interests. Goleman also does point out that these are extremes and that everyone mixes I.Q. and emotional intelligence in varying degrees. But this does give us an instructive look at what each of these dimensions adds to a person s qualities. In the book, Emotional Intelligence, Goleman talks about two psychologists (Sternberg and Salovey) who have taken a wider view on intelligence and give terms of what they think it takes to lead a successful life. • 8. Analysis Of Martin Luther King Letter From Birmingham Jail Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote a letter called, Letter from Birmingham Jail . This letter was written to clergymen who criticized his nonviolent approach. It was written in 1963 during the height of the Civil Rights movement. This letter s purpose is to show the way that King felt about his movement to create a more equal society than what he was living in and what he thought about his nonviolent acts contrary to the clergyman. In the beginning of this text, there is a letter from the clergymen that critiques the protest that King led. The clergymen essentially say that King s protest is unwise and there are better ways to fix the problem of racial friction. They write: Just as we formerly pointed out that hatred and violence have no sanction in our religious and political traditions, we also point out that such actions as incite to hatred and violence, however technically peaceful those actions may be, have not contributed to the resolution of our local problems.(372) The clergymen continue to state that the Negro community should completely stop participating in these protests and handle the issue in the courts. The rest of the text is King s response to the clergymen. He first states that the clergymen only mentioned the problem and not what caused it by writing: You deplore the demonstrations that are presently taking place in Birmingham. But I am sorry that your statement did not express as similar concern for the conditions that brought the demonstrations into being.(374) He is saying that they are complaining about the fact that they are protesting in their town, but really they should be thinking about what they are doing to cause these protests. If they were doing something to prevent the segregation that is being protested then they would also be preventing the protests. King then goes on to talk about the segregation in Birmingham and he writes, On the basis of these conditions, Negro leaders sought to negotiate with the city fathers. But the political leaders consistently refused to engage in good faith negotiation (375). Here King is responding to the clergymen and how they told the Negroes to solve their protests in the courts. • 9. History, Principles And Value Of Infant Observation Introduction To quote child analyst Esther Bick, one may have to sit with children for a long time completely in the dark about what is going on, until something suddenly comes up from the depth that illuminates it. (Bick 1962, p.632). Infant observation is a powerful tool when working with children that helps clarify what it is that comes up from the depth . This paper will briefly outline the history, principles and value in infant observation. I will then further examine my own experience of infant observation of four year old S. My observations of S had recurring themes of perfectionism, obsessive compulsive behaviours and avoidance. S was extremely shy and constantly sought teacher approval. By examining attachment theory, the emotions of shame and guilt, containment, the drive to know, mental pain and false self, I was able to psychoanalysis S s unconscious thoughts and feelings which were conveyed in her behaviour. History of Psychotherapy and Infant Observation Sigmund Freud is known as the founder of psychotherapy. Freud was interested in the emotional relationship between the past and the present, and the feelings it generated. Subsequently Abraham (1924), Klein (1928), Fairbairn (1952) among others, further developed Freud s work of the emotional life. They examined the earliest relationships of infancy and the processes these set up within the developing mind. • 10. Reflection On Interpersonal Communication Reflection Paper I have taken Interpersonal Communication before during the summer 2016, but I didn t pass it mainly because I wasn t as focused as I was in this class. Professor Castro just made it fun. Her lectures and her stories made it interesting. Every Mondays and Wednesdays, I had three classes. Interpersonal Communication would be my first class to start my day. Then two classes after that. I ended up dropping those two classes. I was supposed to drop this class too but I didn t because I wanted to learn more. I ve been in a relationship with my girlfriend for almost a year and one of the problems we had was listening. Sometimes she wouldn t listen to me or I just wouldn t listen to her at all. The day we had a lecture about listening in class, that same morning, we got in an argument about how I don t listen to her. I always listen to her but not when we argue. I usually avoid her when we are about to start arguing. I found it funny how the professor somehow knew I was in trouble with listening and she decided to have a lecture on listening. Unlike a history class or a math class or even reading class, this class actually helped me outside of school. I also learned that my professor is a volunteer basically everywhere. She participates in marches whenever she can. Her age doesn t stop her from making the community better and standing up for what she believes in. She is an inspiration. She asked the class to volunteer somewhere for three hours which was pretty cool. I haven t had any class in college where volunteering out in the community was a requirement. Because I had to volunteer for a grade in class, I am now volunteering for the resist march in Los Angeles, June 11. I wouldn t be going out to volunteer for this event if it weren t for this class. Knowing that my professor goes to protests and marches at her age, she is truly an inspiration. I don t usually have time to go out to marches anymore but seeing that she still does, I d want to participate more in the community. Now only problem I had in this class was that I never really had my own seat. I moved to different seats every time we had class. This approach is proposed to estimate the effort of migrated services. The effort is estimated for different project phases. The service s cost often varies depending on the migration strategy used; this is mainly because each migration strategy has its own cost factors. In this approach, the cost factors of SOA are extracted from previous literatures .These cost factors are distributed among SOA project phases. Each cost factor is given a weight for each migration strategy. These weights of different factors are grouped by project phase. All the weights of all factors are aggregated per migration strategy. We do not take the time to gain knowledge of other people s way of living, therefore we create automatic assumptions of others as if at a push of a button, see the connection? Meanwhile, schools are still being regularly threatened to date; a study states In addition, school uniforms are generally a benefit for parents, economically. With uniforms having the same style every year, albeit with occasional leniencies, there is not much cause for buying new uniforms yearly besides from a child growing. Without a school uniform, teenagers quickly tire of what they wear to school and want to get new clothes around every month. This is due to students wanting to stay with the times and the latest trends. It was a form of home invasion by the government, and prohibiting this gave citizens more sense of security to their property, and not involving them in the war which they aren t fighting. Although, the only time that soldiers need housing is when we mobilize soldiers, otherwise they should be at bases. As much as this was relevant in the 1800 s, we haven t had a need to use civilian s homes for military purposes. There isn t much to say about this amendment anymore. 18th I know lots of other students see this amendment flawed simply because you can t ban alcohol, then maybe even lead that into some fabricated argument about marijuana because this is Arapahoe. I repeatedly see articles saying how the 18th amendment has done more harm than good, but the level of damages caused by alcohol s influence unprsidenly sets that harm to shame and the ideology of the amendment is the only good. • 29. Comparison Between Remember And Stop All Of The Clocks Each individual has a unique way of coping with death, and this is evident throughout Christina Rossetti s, Remember and W. H. Auden s Stop all of the Clocks . In the first stanza of Remember , Rossetti allows the reader to explore the narrator s thought about death. When she writes ......Gone far away into the silent land;/ When you can no more hold me by the hand.... the narrator believes that death is final because that connection cannot ever be re established regardless of how much one wants it. The silent land and gone away are metaphors for death, and when the narrator says that no one will be able to hold me (her) by the hand , this symbolises the one thing death takes, the physical presence of the person. Likewise, Auden s Stop all of the Clocks , explores death with imperatives. Auden writes Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,/ Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,/ Silence the pianos and with muffled drum/Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Because the narrator wants life to cease, because with the death of their loved one, there is no purpose in life and it simply cannot (........) . Similarly, as Stop all of the Clocks develops the narrator metaphorically and onomatopoeically highlights that everything in life must acknowledge the death and experience it with him. Outward signs of cotton gloves and bows with doves is a metaphor for the person s acknowledgement of death. The importance of the deceased love extends to every facet of the narrator s life because they belonged in every moment that the narrator lived. In this moment of grief, the narrator feels betrayed because they invested in a love which was not eternal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The On The Employment Rights Act In 1996, The Employment Rights Act was introduced, an employee was defined therein as an individual who works under contracts of employment, however it fails to define what is meant by a contract of service . A retrospective view of the UK indicates that there is no generic denotation of an employee created through legislative processes. It is imperative to note the court is the major determinant of the status of the parties in an employment relationship. The court therefore put together a series of tests to regulate employment contracts which involves an application of diverse common law tests distinguished by Simon Deakin and Gillian Morris in 2000. The primary classes of those tests are; The control test The integration test The economic reality test The mutuality of obligation test The multiple test This essay will critically assess the tests that separate contract of services and contract for services and if one test is a sufficient determinant. It will also explore the consequences of concluding that a person is an employee. Initially, the courts used a single test known as the control test . At this point employees were not specialized like what is obtainable today. • 31. Benjamin Franklin As A Representation Of The Enlightenment Wade Cobb Dr. Boeninger DWC 201 19 October 2015 Benjamin Franklin as a Representation of the Enlightenment The Enlightenment was largely a rational response to the 16th and 17th century Scientific Revolution, as well as major developments in philosophical thinking, such as ideas proposed by Rene Descartes. During the Enlightenment, thinkers emphasize rational and critical ways of thinking, rather than the complete reliance on religion that had been previously accepted. In many ways, Benjamin Franklin was the human embodiment of the Age of Enlightenment. Similarly to the Enlightenment as a time period, Benjamin Franklin is influenced by, but strays from his upbringing in a strict Puritan context in order to establish beliefs based on reason and the scientific method. Franklin used highly thought out and methodological techniques for deciding things from a daily schedule all the way to his views on morality and virtue. He was a life long learner, and like the Age of Enlightenment itself, he put reason as the ultimate factor for knowledge and decision making. Corresponding to the Enlightenment, Franklin was affected by his Christian background. His parents were devout Puritans, and being raised in their household, the Christian outlook left its mark on certain aspects of Franklin s beliefs. For example, in his letter to the Yale University President Ezra Stiles in 1790 reveals an important commonality in his beliefs in relation to Puritan, and other Judeo Christian ... The constitution is unwritten allowing a variety of elements that make up our constitution some are; constitution conventions and statutes. New Zealand s constitution structure is separated into three branches; the legislature, judiciary and the executive . The executive is the decision making branch, it is believed that the executive is where the real power of parliamentary supremacy lies, as the decisions they make influence the process of legislation . Throughout this essay I will emphasise how statutes are more important and effective in contrast to constitution conventions. Constitution conventions are instruments that form the New Zealand constitution. They are customary non legal rules that modify and regulate the nature of the constitution or government . Conventions were introduced through customs that develop over time and are dependent on those who construct and obey the law, becoming entrenched. The nature of conventions itself are flexible, therefore it cannot be judicially enforced . Statutes are vital to the consitution, they are written sources of legislation, where they can be legally enforcable especially in courts, therefore cannot be flexible in ways that conventions are viewed . Statutes hold vital rules that are used to restrain the executives actions, they also are used to enact authority through courses of actions or prohibiting certain matters. ... The Relationship Between Hpv And Cervical Neoplasia Evidently, in the 1990s the relationship between HPV and cervical neoplasia was confirmed.[7] According to Bosch et al., the 1990s produced the key results of case control and cohort studies, and witnessed an increasing number of results on the clinical uses of HPV DNA testing in screening and triage, [24] and, as Liaw et al. (1995) noted in their case control studies, it was also becoming apparent that those with multiple HPV infections have a higher risk of developing cancer of the cervix. [26] With the changing dimension of research studies having confirmed that HPV was a necessary cause of cervical cancer, epidemiological studies advanced to associating different strains of HPV to different anogenital pathologies, categorizing different histological forms of cervical cancer in relation to HPV strains and highlighting other risk factors that may play a prominent role or catalyze the carcinogesis process. For instance, Ngelangel et al. (1998) in their hospital based case control studying the Philippines detected HPV DNA in 93.8% case subjects with squamous cell carcinoma, 90.9% in case subjects with adenocarcinoma/adenosquamous carcinoma as opposed to just 9.2% of control subjects. • 41. Emerson, S Views Of Beliefs In Emerson And Emerson s Thoughts 1. According to Emerson, the genius idea, is the idea that an individual can speak their minds. As it states, To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in our private heart is true for all men, that is genius (Emerson 266). The individuals, who withstand from the lies and deception of society and speak their thoughts truly are the ideal concept of a genius to Emerson. 2. Emerson s opinions of envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide , display his thoughts that an individual should not be jealous of others abilities and that impersonating their abilities, will not better the individual and not create confidence in their thoughts. In other words, ...that he must take himself for better, for worse, as his portion... (Emerson 267). Being able to accept yourself in the truest form and being able to express yourself in every situation in life, is what makes covetous thoughts undesirable. 3. Emerson values nonconformists, for they display traits of determination and strength when it comes to the publics opinions, similar to Emerson s beliefs. To illustrate, For non conformity the world whips you with its displeasure. And therefore a man must know how to estimate a sour face (Emerson 272). A man needs be sure of his thoughts and can defend his thoughts when society disagrees. For the society is too lazy to hold their own opinions and thoughts to withstand the majority s votes. 4. He went around the big table in the middle of the room. Opened one of the glass cases on the wall and pulled out a black, round, necklace holder. There were all different sorts of chains hanging from the stand gold, silver, long, short, and even rose gold. He sat the chains on the table. He was across from us on the other side of the table, with a nice friendly grin on his joyful face and I had my poker face on. Here are some chains that we have, we all took a look at the chains. I m looking for a silver chain, my cousin explained. The owner puts the stand back and went under the counter of the glass cases to the far back wall. He pulled out a stand with all silver chains. Here you go, he exclaimed. We looked carefully at the chains. My cousin wanted a chain not too big but, not too small. She finally narrowed her search down to two pretty chains the right size for her. I like these two, she said. The owner laid the two chains on the table. • 44. A Separate Peace Tree A tree in John Knowles s A Separate Peace, symbolizes the true strengths and weaknesses of two boys relationship during World War Two. This specific tree really corresponds with what is doing on with the two boys relationship. When the tree is big and strong the boy s relationship is really thriving. Once the tree starts to lose branches and weakens the two boy s relationship starts to weaken as well. Which is implemented all over the book with weak moments in their relationship and strengths. In the first chapter, Finny and Gene s relationship is strong and this is represented by the healthy tree branch they and the other boys jump off of into the lake. Gene is not normally the type of person to just jump out of a tree, but he is willing to because of his trust in Finny. Despite his own fear, Gene trusts Finny enough to jump. Gene says, With the sensation that I was throwing my life away, I jumped into space (17). This demonstrates that the trust between the two boys is very strong because Gene is willing to do things that he is not comfortable with. Since Finny was there by his side he has no problem doing it. Gene and Finny s relationship is able to thrive when it is healthy like the tree branch that they jump off. ... Finny, his balance gone, swung his head around to look at me for an instant with extreme interest, and then he tumbled sideways, broke though little branches below and hit the bank sickening, unnatural thud (60). This shows how their relationship progressively gets weakened over time just like the branches that fell from the tree. This incident causes for their relationship to weaken to the lowest point because Finny s never able to fully recover. The end result is that their relationship is foreverly weakened, with Finny never able to be completely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But whether this clears the government of responsibility for not acting on the many tip offs about AWB s behaviour depends on whose test you use.41 According to Australia s prime minister at the time, John Howard, the test should be one of reasonableness . In the press conference following his appearance at the Cole Inquiry a few hours earlier, the prime minister countered arguments that his government should have acted on the dozens of warnings by citing others who had been duped by AWB. However, there had been numerous earlier warnings of AWB s unethical practices.42 For example, just a month after AWB made its first payment of US$500 000 into the Jordanian account of transport company Alia (half owned by the Iraqi government), the Canadian Wheat Board was told by the Iraqis that to have its wheat contract processed it would have to pay US$700 000 into the same Jordanian account. The Canadians duly quizzed the propriety of such trucking fees with the UN s Office of the Iraq Program, to be told it was indeed illegal. If that was the case, then why was AWB doing just this, they asked. Questions: Assessment AWB was a Govt owned company. clearly it had been violating not only the corporation laws but also the morality and ethics principles.
