Media Bias And Its Impact On Society
For the majority of history, newspapers have reported hard facts. Newspapers were a trusted source
that society depended on to form their own opinion. More than ever, today it seems to be more
difficult to find facts or truth. Just on that statement two significant and impactful questions are raised.
Why is there so much bias and discrepancies between reporting and why is society fine with this?
Anyone who pays attention to the reporting that is going on, they would notice the first question, but
do not take it a moment to question why the public or themselves allow it. This all ties back to
newspapers because they are beginning of this disaster. Although there hundreds of colleges and
universities offer reporting degrees, these two questions are the heart of the matter and affecting
society negatively.
The daily activity of reading and watching any news outlet becomes filled with garbage. This garbage,
of course, is media bias. It is ironic that every media outlet will call out the other side, yet committing
exactly the same sin at that very moment. This is dreadful for the audience or the public because one
has no idea what is going on or is true. Paul Farhi, Washington Post, points out, Meanwhile, just about
every new poll of public sentiment shows that confidence in the news media has hit a new low.
Seventy seven percent of those surveyed by the Pew Research Center in the fall said the media tend to
favor one side compared with 53 percent who said so in 1985. This

George W. Bush Speech Analysis
The central idea of the 43th president, George W. Bush Speech for the incident of dictator of Iraq
taking over Kuwait was that we are going to war with allies and soldiers who believe we have to fight
with the cruel dictator of Iraq because when we offered peace they only wanted war and now we have
to save the people of Kuwait. George immediately starts to play with our motions at the beginning
about the dictator of Iraq taking over the weak Kuwait, when the dictator of Iraq invaded a small and
helpless neighbor... was crushed; its people, brutalized. Five months ago, Saddam Hussein started his
cruel war against Kuwait ( Bush 2). Bush started using invaded , small , helpless neighbor , crushed ,
brutalized and cold war , all negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He subjected the people of Kuwait to unspeakable atrocities and among those maimed and murdered,
innocent children... more dangerous weapons of mass destruction... While the world waited, Saddam
Hussein met every overture of peace with open contempt. While the world prayed for peace, Saddam
prepared for war (Bush ?). Bush went further with his negative connotations and effective words such
as raped, pillaged, and plundered a tiny nation , unspeakable atrocities , maimed and murdered,
innocent children , dangerous weapons of mass destruction and Saddam prepared for war to show how
Saddam is destroying and hurting this little nation that had nothing to provoke them, even killing
innocent children, and that would play with a human s emotions making them feel this Saddam person
is awful and we should fight them for the protection of the Kuwaiti people. Also, when we were trying
to make peace with them they only prepared for war, making another human person think that the only
way to end this horrible situation is to go into war with the Iraq dictator. Developing the central idea
further and to make sure people on his side, starting with little bit of sadness and increasing as it goes
on, to make sure he doesn t spring all of this on one person because then the sadness won t have as a

The And The Great Depression
Introduction Because of the wealth afforded through the Industrial Revolution the beginning of the
20th century in the United States was filled with peace and prosperity. However, in the background
war was on the horizon. After two world wars and the Great Depression, some of the movements of
the 19th century were re established. Moreover, new movements emerged in response to the issues
created from the wars and the Great Depression. I will discuss the major religious, social and political
movements that emerged in the 20th century. Religious Movements During the 19th century, many
approaches were taken to Christianize the immigrants in the new nation. The living conditions were
crowded, people were abused and there was only a few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subsequently, the Pentecostal movement spread through different denominations in the United States.
The Pentecostal movement resulted in the creation the Assemblies of God, which is the main
Pentecostal denomination in the United States. In addition to the overcrowding and other urban issues
brought on by immigration, European ideas also immigrated to the United States. Darwin s theory of
evolution questioned the validity of the creation story in the book of Genesis. The theory taught that
through evolution humans would have the capability to solve problems and create peace, joy, freedom
and abundance. In response, Protestant Liberalism emerged and taught that humans were free to think
as they pleased. Gonzalez noted, Protestant Liberalism was an attempt to couch Christianity in the
mold of those ideas, and gained wide acceptance among the intellectual elite in the U.S. . Although
most liberals were Christians, there was a group of radical liberals called modernist who were not
Christian. In addition, the modernist did not believe in the Bible, instead they believed the key to
achievement was will power. According to Alister McGrath, The fundamental theme of modernism
was its desire to control . Because the theory of evolution was a direct contradiction of the Christian
faith, many Christians viewed liberalism as a threat. As a

Hitomi Cinderellana Alternate Ending
Konoha was in bloom. And Hitomi Hane hadn t seen anything so beautiful in a long time like this
village. From the banners waving slowly in the summer breeze to the decorations and tender feeling of
love radiating from every citizen, Hitomi couldn t imagine anywhere she would rather be. Not even
her homelands. Her eyes were wide behind the fabric that covered half of the genin s face, a small
smile appearing on her face as she walked through the streets alone. She would have to fly up later
and get a better view, before they did the fireworks, since she couldn t remember what the village
looked like from the air. Every village was different and if she wanted to train and become a scouting

She could buy Kiyoshi some flowers, maybe one of those wreaths she saw people wear? Would he
like that? Maybe...but if she got one for herself and then some for Kiyoshi? Or if she got one for
herself, found him, asked if he wanted one and then got him one? That way she could spend more time
with him. The teenager s face lit up as she jogged over to the flower shop s door, tugging it open.
Hitomi s senses were bombarded from all the blossoms and plants that filled the store. This is so
beautiful... Hi there, can I help you, sir? Too engrossed by the colors and scents of the flower shop,
Hitomi didn t realize that the employee was addressing her. It wasn t till the shop worker spoke again,
looking directly at Hitomi with a smile that the genin figured it all out. Sir. Suddenly Hitomi was
painfully aware of her brown robes, short hair, and...well her body. She knew she looked like a young
boy but she hadn t been called a guy in a long time as most in Kumokagure knew who she was as
heiress to the Hane Clan. But Konoha didn t know that. Hitomi s face flushed as she looked down at
her feet, shifting nervously, feeling confined in the shop, too stuck without the sky above her. But to
correct the shop worker would be even more embaressing, for both of them, so Hitomi said nothing to
the other woman. I m...I m looking to buy one of the flower crowns that people are wearing for the
festival... she muttered, trying to make her voice low,

How To Prevent Zika Disease
Preventing an outbreak of Zika in Mississippi Throughout the Caribbean, Central, and South America
there has been health crisis that s has been affecting the youngest generation of these developing
countries. Thousands of babies have been born with a birth defect known as microencephaly. This
birth defect can cause horrible problems such as seizures, mental retardation, developmental delays,
short stature and difficulties with coordination and balance. (Centers for Disease Control 2017) This
birth defect often leads to having to provide life term medical care and it was determined to be caused
by the mother acquiring a mosquito borne infection with the Zika virus. So, what is this Zika virus and

What are the prevention techniques our state is investing in? What can we do to try and prevent
ourselves and our families from getting Zika? The CDC is currently tracking the spread of the Zika
virus throughout the world and teaching local healthcare providers how to detect case of the Zika
virus. They are also providing support for local hospital laboratories to provide testing if the hospital
cannot provide it and preforming confirmatory testing for those labs that do provide that type of
testing. The CDC is also doing research on the link between Zika virus and the birth defects that it
causes. They also educate people about the Zika virus and issue travel warnings on the place that have
outbreaks. CDC is also recommending that all men that travel to countries with travel warnings to
practice safe sex for a while after returning from those trips because it is suspected that Zika can be
passed through semen. President Obama signed a release of emergency funds that has provided $1.8
billion dollars to help accelerate research into a vaccine for Zika. (USA Today 2016) Another method
that is being tried in countries like Brazil is the release of genetically modified male mosquitoes.
These male mosquitoes have genetically modified genes that will cause their offspring to die quickly
so that they will never reach maturity and since male mosquitoes do not bite they cannot spread
disease. The biotech company Oxitec which is behind this concept, has stated that it can reduce
populations by 80%. (Stein 2016) This has been deemed a safe method of mosquito reduction by the
U.S. Food and Drug Administration. (Stein 2016) This method is controversial but it does reduce the
overall amount of pesticide that is used to control the mosquitoes. Another method that is being used

The Dark Knight Dilogy Part 1
Hal Freeland 10/26/16 The Dark Knight Dilogy Part 1 Bruce Wayne, the Batman, leaned against one
of the many high reaching, cold, damp, and rocky walls of the Batcave. Not suited up, but wearing
khakis and an undershirt, he felt the cold of the wall while waiting for some crime information to
process. There was a particular robbery that he could not be the first responder to. But of course, the
Gotham Police are on a different level of skill in the crime stopping field, therefore, the offenders
escaped the scene. Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne s butler, enters the Batcave in his typical dress, a
tuxedo. Any updates on the robbery, Master Bruce? asked Alfred with his sophisticated English
accent. Bruce says with a sigh, I m afraid not, Alfred. Well, I brought you some coffee in case you are
down here for a while more. The butler said. Thanks Alfred. Said Bruce. Always welcome, Master
Bruce. Then the butler strolled into the industrial looking steel grate elevator, and exited the Batcave.
About 15 minutes later, the report had been fully processed. The report read: No sizable threat.
Suggestions: Let GCPD handle it. Bruce let out an exhausted sigh of relief. He concluded he had
gotten about three hours of sleep in the last week. Suddenly, he remembered with a startle that three
hours is the minimum amount of sleep for a person over the course of a week. The next morning, after
seven hours of sleep, Alfred woke him with a spinach smoothie and a protein bar in hand.

Similarities Between Iron Man And Batman
With great power comes great responsibility Ben the uncle of Spider man. Human beings with heroic
abilities are influential to most children. Superheroes must be very careful with their actions in order
to give children a good impact. For example, children always wear capes in their homes and act like
superheroes attacking villains that s why superheroes has a significant impact on children. Most
children have their favorite superhero depending on how each hero surfs justice through his way.
Whereas Batman and Iron man share numerous similarities, the differences in regards to income, suits,
and creators warrant further analysis.

Satire is Used in the Portraits, Gin Lane, by William...
What is satire? According to oxforddictionaries.com, satire is The use of humor, irony, exaggeration,
or ridicule to expose and criticize people s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of
contemporary politics and other topical issues. This literary device is portrayed heavily in both the
illustrations Gin Lane by William Hogarth and in Untitled by Paul Kuczynski. Gin Lane is basically
an illustration by William Hogarth that depicts life in the gin shops and shows the negative effects the
drink had on the people of London. It shines a light on the horrible circumstances London was under
when gin was introduced to its people. Unititled is an illustration by Paul Kuczynski that represents

In the top story of one the buildings fortunate to still be standing, is a man who has hung himself from
the rafters. Willaim Hogarth used all these startling scenes to grab the attention of the viewer and give
them an insight on London at its lowest. Through Gin Lane, Hogarth expressed the ravenous effects
gin had on the people of London and how it affected the living environment as well. Untitled by Paul
Kuczynski also contains satire, however the author of this portrait uses satire to depict the theme of
isolation, instead of misery, poverty, ruin and neglect. This simple, yet thought provoking picture,
shows a man looking through a periscope that is shaped like the Facebook symbol, to see through a
window above an open door. The door is not barricaded in any way, shape or form, so the man is able
to walk outside and see what is going on in the world first hand. Instead, he chooses to stay inside by
himself and view the world through Facebook. Through Untitled, Kuczynski conveys the message that
social media interaction is overtaking physical interaction. People are more likely to go on social
media to find out what is happening than to go out and experience it themselves. Kuczynski s painting
greatly showcases that even in its simplicity. Despite the fact that both pieces of art contain various
differences, they contain similarities as well. Some of the differences include the message portrayed,
themes and the style of drawing. In Hogarth s

The Sociology Of War And Violence Essay
Talking about war tends to make people feel emotional, feel a sort of adrenaline rush, mad, and even
proud. These emotions can at times, in my opinion, bring groups together and separate others because
of disagreements on views and beliefs. While it is not easy to talk to anyone about delicate topics such
as this one, it is important to acknowledge how war can influence societal behavior and culture. Many
can argue that war unites people, particularly speaking of the United States; a country is known for its
patriotism and pride when it comes down to its military forces and achievements across nations.
The book The Sociology of War and Violence , gives an insight of how war can be understood from
different perspectives. While war is believed by some that people come together in solidarity, the
chapters on nationalism and war as well as propaganda and war, analyzed important factors such as
the understanding of war and its impact on societies culture at a macro level. It is easy to argue that we
can easily assume war brings the best in individuals when society is facing mutual concerns and
worries. When society comes together as one it brings a sense of solidarity and strength giving us a
sense of power. This is a common feeling, for instance, lets consider us when it comes down to
support our military; above all things, despite our differences in religion, socio economic status, ages,
gender, etc.... majority support their actions because they make sense and they are in the

performance was played by the University of Houston Symphony Orchestra in Moores Opera House
at the Moores School of Music. The performance was conducted by two different conductors. The first
conductor was Carlos Guillermo Jung, he conducted the first piece which was a piece by Pyotr Ilyich
Tchaikovsky called Fantasy which is a Romeo and Juliet Overture. The next conductor was Franz
Anton Krager, he conducted the Cello Concerto No. 1 in A Minor, Op. 33, by Camille Saint Saens
which also included Vagram Saradjian, who was a guest cellist performer. The next piece conducted
by Fran Anton Krager was the Symphony No.5 in C minor, Op. 67 by Ludwig van Beethoven. The
performance overall was over two hours, but was very entertaining and captured my attention the
whole time. The first piece that was conducted by Jung called Romeo and Juliet Overture Fantasy,
which is an orchestral work composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky was one of the top
composers during the Romantic era who was inspired by the work of Shakespeare. The overture
outlines the plot of Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet. The genre of the piece is overture, the form
is sonata, and the meter is duple or to some people, it may seem like the meter is quadruple.
Throughout the performance, some themes were mostly led by the woodwind section, more
specifically the clarinets and bassoons, and another theme was led by

Comparative Essay On The Relationship Between J. PAnd Roxy
In Where I m Calling From J.P and Roxy represent the reality by J.P s narrative of their relationship.
Reality relationships are not as dream relationships, how it is all about love rather than life going in
the relationship and destroying it. The reality relation is structured by, the honeymoon stage, the
family stage and the life stage. J.P and Roxy are in the honeymoon stage when it says, He could feel
her kiss still burning on his lips, etc. J.P couldn t begin to sort out anything out. He was filled with
sensations that were carrying him every which way. (282) The quotes word choice of burning, and
sensation create a mood of passion which love is associated, showing a connection they have. Then

in sentence structure, before the quote had a passion but now the sentences are short and fast. The
sentence structure symbolizes the relationship change between J.P and Roxy. The reason for the
change is sentence length is because their relationship is going through the reting, marriage, family
and house their is no more spark. From the tradition the life stage occurs where as a cause of the lost
of spark unreasonable things happen. For instance, But for some reason who knows why we do what
we do? his drinking picks up. (284) The word choice of who, why, and what shows confusion in J.P
why he began drinking and the reason is life. Life is a serious of positive and negative events and J.P
had a bad one. The moment J.P picks up his drinking he is in the life stage when an event occurs and it
goes down or up. The reality relationship is a routine there s a spark in the honeymoon stage, one

Canada in the Global Economy Essay
Canada in the Global Economy
Over the past few years, Canada s economy has done comparatively well and has demonstrated some
resilience to the fluctuating global economy. However, Canada remains to be relatively less
competitive with respect to other developed countries. In this paper I will attempt to take a closer look
at Canada s position in the global economy today and examine the relevant issues.
Competition is an important driver of innovation and productivity growth. Looking at the domestic
Canadian economy, perhaps one of the most significant barriers to a strong domestic economy is the
lack of intense competition among domestic firms. There are many reasons for this. First of all, the
size of the Canadian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is in part due to the fact that the Canadian economy fails to support the development of domestic
giants because of the reasons discussed above. As a result, value added activities, for example R D, are
not performed in Canada. The branch plant operations simply carry out non strategic and non value
added operations that do not give the county any competitive advantages or innovative drives.
Furthermore, re investment is limited in the Canadian operations because the majority of the resources
are allocated to build the companies? competitiveness, which is often done elsewhere.
Besides a relatively non competitive business environment, Canada?s labour force also lacks the
competitive mindset. Structural employment remains high, which is partly due to the existence of
social assistance and unemployment insurance systems. Work incentives are low under the protection
of the employment insurance program, which indirectly contributes in a higher than the desirable
unemployment rate. Furthermore, unions and other similar groups do not promote many incentives for
workers to stay competitive in the workplace by continuously learning and improving productivity.
Countries that have been most successful in cutting unemployment are those that have improved

House On Mango Street
The house on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros is really a coming of age novel of a Mexican
American female developing in a working class Chicago neighborhood. The writer is similar to the
main character Esperanza in a number of ways. It being that Cisneros was in addition a Mexican
American female growing up in a Chicago working class community. While Esperanza is ashamed of
becoming a Mexican American around white Americans, Cisneros is proud to be considered a
Mexican American female. But she endeavors to defy the roles and limitations of this culture. In the
novel, Cisneros portrays the problems that Latino females face in a culture which respect them as
lower class people. A culture which is stressed by males, along with a general public which esteems
females for whatever they resemble, moreover not for what s on the inside.

The Deer Hunter Analysis
The Deer Hunter is a Vietnam war film directed by Michael Cimino released in 1978. It tracks the
lives of lifelong friends in a small town before and after three of them go to Vietnam. The main male
characters that go to Vietnam are Michael, Nick, and Steven. The beginning of the film shows the kind
of friendship they have with one another before becoming a soldier using up about an hour of
screentime. The middle of the film shows what they went through during the war, the last part of the
film was used to show how they were affected in their lives. What most likely influenced the film like
the many other war films at the time was the relatively recent end of the Vietnam war.
The setting of the film was realistic never did I think while watching that this was something that
wouldn t have happened. The atmosphere suggested that Pennsylvania was a quiet place free from
trouble, while Vietnam was a place full of mayhem and temptations. There was one very blatant
symbol used to foreshadow the events to come. The cups that Steven and his wife drank out of that if
not a single drop was spilled would be good luck for the rest of their lives.
The camera work of the film was executed well. The close ups helped to build the tension during the
Russian roulette scenes. There were very scenic wide shots of the mountains during hunting scenes
that helped contrast the intense scenes of the movie by making those scenes more intense when we see
them because of how tranquil much of the movie

Undocumented Immigrants Essay
Why Illegal Immigrants Should Be Granted Amnesty Whether to grant illegal immigrants full amnesty
or not is a very controversial and important question in today s society. As David Decrosse explains,
amnesty means, lifting a penalty associated with an entire class of people who have violated a law.
Some people might think that American authority deporting illegal immigrants with little
repercussions is amnesty, but full amnesty would mean letting the immigrants stay in America and
have a regulated job. If amnesty is granted the economy would benefit, it is morally right, and it would
not hurt the society in any way. If American society grants illegal immigrants full amnesty it will help
the economy. As James Dywer, an immigrant researcher states, illegal immigrants often perform the
worst work for the lowest wages. Illegal aliens are usually desperate for a job, sometimes to the point
that they take on more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything is against undocumented immigrants, they can be easily taken advantage of, don t get any
benefits, and more often than not they don t have a lot of money. In spite of all this they are not a big

rates are now between 13 and 31 percent above the white average, depending upon which age range
we choose for normalization purposes. Illegal immigrants are arrested only a fraction more than white
americans. This is very good, especially considering that they have a bigger reason to do a crime
because of their poverty and that they sometimes are discriminated against. As Hispanics in general,
and illegal immigrants, have been getting more money, their crime rates are going down (Unz). This
means if amnesty is given the crime rates of illegal immigrants would further plummet because they
will have more money and less reason to do

only silk, but also ideas for improving societies, religion, and nations to spread and develop. All of this
is explained in Life along the Silk Road, written by Susan Whitfield. Her book delves into the lives of
11 people who lived at varying times throughout 730 AD and the end of the first millennia, and shows
the many consequences and uses of the SIlk Road. Through these characters, we see how the Eastern
Hemisphere was ever changing, and being constantly stimulated. Additionally it reveals how even
though lots of people were traveling in generally speaking the same area and had common concerns,
such as climate, soldiers or bandits, they all had totally different experiences because of their reason
for being on The Silk Road.
The Silk Road allowed for all types of new careers and economic boosts. For example, merchant s
were now able to flourish more than ever before. Trading goods was the main currency at this time,
and merchants made a living doing this, it is comparable to the modern day stock exchange. An
example of a common trade during this time would be with bolts of silk, which were easily acquired in
the Chinese capital Chang an, although not nearly as

Cause And Effect Essay About Chicago
Downtown Chicago is the pride of Chicago, a mask of beauty and culture. Magnificent views,
amazing sky scrapers, wonderful land, the beautiful lake front and peaceful people are how most
people who visit Downtown Chicago from a different location would probably describe Chicago. This
is a place where children between the ages of thirteen through eighteen grow to discover their
potential being and most likely get a sneak peek on how bright their future will be. However, we
sometimes forget to mention how Chicago is one of the most devastating cities in the world today due
to the crimes that occur in the streets of Chicago, mostly taking place on the Westside and Southside
of Chicago every day. As we all know, Chicago was eventually named Chiraq ... Show more content

The reason why I say this is because one of the key things I feel that makes Chicago so violent, is
because most children and teenager s brains are not taught well that violence is not the way out to
whatever situation they have going on in their lives. According to United States Department of Justice,
Facts about Children and Violence, Children exposed to violence are also at a higher risk of engaging
in criminal behavior later in life becoming part of a cycle of violence. Whatever they have
experienced or been taught is how they will react to any situation which may just be violence or drugs
and alcohol. That is why the murder rate from teenagers is so high because they feel the beats and
lyrics in some of the music that they listen to and react how certain artists portray themselves and
others in their songs. They probably feel as though this gives them the power to do anything they want
to do far as killing people or selling drugs, much more because a lot of music artists today only talks
about violence in their songs. While talking to children and a few camp counselor I learned that
children feel intimidated when adults see them and don t speak so one of the things adults can do to
stand up to help the environment is to engage more with one another and children to make the kids
feel safe rather than on edge which can lead to

Faulkner s Barn Burning
The Analysis of William Faulkner s Barn Burning Theme
Barn Burning by William Faulkner talks about the relationship and loyalty of a son, Colonel Sartoris
Snopes or Sarty to his father, Abner Snopes. The story is told from the ten year old Sarty s perspective.
All of his life, Sarty has always been taught to value family ties. However, at ten, he understood that
his father has committed actions that are wrong, and these actions often hurt their family ties.
Although not even a teenager yet, Sarty had to face the fact that he needed to defend his wrong father,
a problem that no young boy should encounter. Because of the two contradictory things, the boy had
to experience inner conflicts. He described it as being pulled two ways like between ... Show more

This can be seen in the incident after the trial when Abner stroke his son in order to ensure him of the
ill will of the men who took Abner to trial. During the incident, Abner accused Sarty of almost
betraying him in court, which was a groundless accusation. However, he only wanted to make his
claims more believable when saying that these men only wanted revenge and that he was in the right
position all along. However, Sarty was not convinced and did not even speak a word. He kept what he
believed in inside his head, which was the truth, for fear of his father s wrath, and throughout the
story, Sarty s inner battle continues. On the outside, he pretended to always be on his father s side, but
in the inside, he knew that his father was wrong. However, this did not last long. Despite his actions of
defending his father when de Spain announced the fine, the doubts of his father was getting even
stronger than ever. When his father asked him to get oil, he loudly protested against the action as he
knew his father was about to use the oil for another wrongful act. In the end, Sarty decided to take
another road, a road that led to the separation of the family. Similarly, another study also mentioned
that although in the end, Sarty had to face the fact that he needed to part from his family in order to
satisfy his

A Modest Proposal, By Aldous Huxley And Jonathan Swift
Aldous Huxley and Jonathan Swift both have a different way of bringing society s attention to the real
problems of the world. Both authors utilize the New Historicism lense as an influence to each of their
pieces of literature. From 1729 to 1932, there were plenty of historical conflicts that could help each
author make society want to change the current problems that they were facing. Huxley satirizes the
sexual freedom and moral decay of the Roaring 20s in Brave New World and Swift satirizes the rising
problem of overpopulation in Ireland in his short story, A Modest Proposal . A popular theory by
Thomas Malthus on overpopulation could have been influenced by Swift s short story and Huxley
might have used it to contribute to his novel. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both pieces of literature use satire to raise awareness of the conflicts and to make society question or
feel the need to change the current problems. Thomas Malthus, a scholar that was born about thirty
years following the great Irish famine discovered a famous population theory. In general, he stated in
his theory that the population of a country will always be greater than the amount of sources it can
produce, like food. It is possible that he came up with his population theory after studying all of the
potential factors in the Irish famine. Overpopulation was one of the main contributors to the famine. In
Brave New World, the characters use Malthusian belts which held contraceptives like birth control and
condoms. These belts that the men and women of this book wore were used to control overpopulation,
which was the exact conflict that Jonathan Swift was trying to resolve in his short story, A Modest

Mandatory Voting In Canada
The civic issue that my point of view has changed on is the 1st speaker s issue for the second speaker s
corner reflection. The speaker s issue is that more Canadians need to vote. He states that only about
60% of the citizens voted in the last federal election. He also continues and says that if 60% of the
population is voting for a government that is representing 100% of the population, you can t really call
that a truly democratically elected government anymore. By having more people to vote, we can have
a government that represents our country the best since everyone s opinions are considered. This can
allow our country to develop into an even greater country. The speaker suggests that Canada should
introduce some form of mandatory voting legislation to encourage people to vote. This civics issue is
important to all Canadian citizens because our government represents 100% of the Canadian
population. This is also another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will have to start a petition for voting to be compulsory. Since this is a huge issue that can t just
simply can t be changed, it will be hard. However, say if we need over half of Canada to agree to
mandatory voting, it can be possible. The 40% of the population who didn t vote will probably not
support mandatory voting because they don t want to vote. However, the other 60% of the population
who actually cares about our country will probably vote and that will be over half. The federal
government will be responsible for making the change. They are the ones who are in charge of voting
and elections. However, since Canada is a democratic country, even the federal government can t fully
control if voting is compulsory. The person who has the most amount of say is the people. Even if the
federal government wants mandatory government, if the citizens don t want it, we won t have it, and
vice versa. So to make this change, we will have to get the citizen s

Taking Down Tyrants Analysis
Taking Down Tyrants Give me liberty or give me death, Patrick Henry. The pursuit of of their freedom
is the current mission of the American Army, who find means to standby their cause through
hardships. It s 1777 and there s a war between between the Americans and the British. George
Washington, the leader of the continental army, has struggled to keep his soldiers fighting for their
freedom. He is keeping his troops in Valley Forge, 18 miles northwest of Philadelphia, where the
British are located. My 9 month enlistment will be over on February 1st, , and I have to decide to stay
or go. I m going to stay for these three reasons. To be loyal to my country, to motivate and lift the
spirits of my fellow soldiers, and fight for my country. I m going to stay and fight because it means I
am being loyal to my country. Thomas Paine wrote elaborately about the importance of loyalty to your

Thomas Paine reaches a point in The American Crisis where he begins to describe the wrath and
cruelty of British rule. During this description, he describes, Britain, with an army to enforce her

circumstance and should be free from Britain s power. They are not treated the colonies with much
respect at all. Thomas Paine stays on the topic of Britain for a while, and continues to make analogies.
In one of the analogies of The American Crisis he states, if being bound in that manner is not slavery,
there is not such a thing as slavery on Earth (Paine.) Just the fact alone that he is comparing Britain s
rule with slavery is enough to make you think that they don t treat us Americans well. It makes the
will to break the connection with Great Britain even longer. This needs to be fought for. Our own
independance is worth the risk of staying to

Questions On Organizational Operating Environments
1. Compare the 2008 top 5 IT management concerns (Luftman et al) and the 2013 top 5 IT
management concerns (Kappelman et al). What concerns have changed in importance? Are there any
new concerns? In your opinion, what changes in organizational operating environments have resulted
in the differences in the priority of concerns? Please justify your answers.
Answer:
Aligning the IT process with business has been one of the top most concern in all the surveys
conducted in past 11 years. It holds true in 2008 as well as in 2013. Out of all the participants 92.6%
of the people have opined that aligning IT with business is important as per the survey conducted in
2008. In 2013 though still in the top five concerns there was a lots of progress ... Show more content

The third issue was that the organizations have to realize the importance of working for each other and
the fourth and final issue was that the organizations have to go beyond the fact that upgrading IT
infrastructure alone wouldn t solve the problem. In 2013 it is clearly realized that transformation and
alignment is not just a one time activity, it is a repetitive activity.
The second in the list of management concerns in 2008 is Building Business Skills where as in 2013
Business Agility took the position. In the year 2008 the norm for an individual s qualifications in the
business organization were looked at in a different perspective. Having rich technical expertise alone
was not sufficient, rather having a balanced set of technical and non technical skills were
recommended. This ensure that the associates hired by the company are not just code generators but
also business professionals who can see value and profits in the day to day business. Having such a
skill set can also help the individuals understand and implement technology in a better way that suits a
modern day business environment. In 2013, things have changes and Business agility was ranked as a
higher concern. Business agility denotes the capacity of a company to not just understand the

For My Comfort Zone Activity I Chose To Visit A Local Fantasy
For my comfort zone activity I chose to visit a local fantasy and fetish store here in Philadelphia called
the Kink Shoppe. I am quite a shy, hesitant person in general so you can only imagine what it is like
for me engaging in sexual activity. Most people generalize college kids and sex but that is not the case
for me. Personally, I have been in a committed relationship for two years now and we are sexually
active but very basic in terms of being erotic. A better way to state it is the penis inserted in the vagina
while thrusting the hips with occasional oral stimulation. Growing up in a reserved family that did not
openly discuss anything sexual is also a factor I blame for my bashfulness. The main reason I chose to

The day finally came and I ventured to the Kink Shoppe. The store did have all the items I pictured
being there along with many other pieces of equipment that are used for the stimulation and arousal of
people during sex. Dog collars, black leather masks that resemble a dog s head, and sharp metal doctor
tools were the first three items I noticed and wondered to myself about how they were used during
sexual play and activity. After taking awhile awkwardly browsing around by myself trying to be
casual, I finally worked up the nerve to ask the worker various questions about the toys and tools. My
face turning a bright shade of red is probably when the worker realized I felt very uncomfortable
asking. She gladly answered and explained everything to me and made me feel more comfortable
about being curious. In class, we briefly discussed BDSM which the worker talked about greatly while
explaining the leather collars, leashes, whips, and masks. I touched a great amount of different types
of dildos made from various materials such as glass, silicone, and rubber. The worker explained each
one and who usually prefers which type based on their personal preferences and overall goal of the
toy. Some vibrated, some were simple penis shapes. Touching fake penis at first made me feel like I
was being unfaithful to my boyfriend. If I bought one, I feel as if it would degrade my boyfriend and
make him feel as if he is not satisfying me which is not the case. That is when I

Walgreens Research Paper
In this essay, I will be explaining about the history of Walgreens and what it has to offer to its
customer. This will include the services and merchandise that has made them a successful company
for over one hundred years. My mission for writing this essay, is to give the reader some more insight
on what they may of not know about this nation wide store. I also want to provide the reader with
confidence to rely on Walgreens as their number one trusted pharmacy and drugstore.
The idea of Walgreens started off in the early 1900 s in a small town called Dixon, Illinois. Charles R.
Walgreen started working at a drug store, due to an accident that happened at a shoe making company,
ending his athletic career. He realized after working in this small town he needed to go somewhere

Why Is Dna Testing Wrong
Even with vast majorities of new technology today, DNA testing still finds people guilty in trials even
when they didn t commit the crime. America is known for having one of the most fair minded criminal
justice systems. We give every person, who is arrested, the chance to be proven innocent until they are
found guilty through evidence. Within these trials, DNA tests account for a majority of the convictions
or exonerations.
However, how much are these DNA tests really helping in finding the guilty and freeing the innocent?
According to William C. Thompson, author of The Potential For Error In Forensic DNA Testing,
Errors in DNA testing occur regularly. DNA evidence has caused false incrimination and false
convictions, and will continue to do so. As much as this system is doing well it s actually causing
harm because of the endless amounts of errors it generates and the problems that arise from the errors.

How can we as a country allow such a horrific problem to occur? As a citizen of America, I would
estimate the inaccuracy rate of DNA tests to be around 33%. Thus, the inaccuracy accounts for 1/3 of
the DNA tests performed leaving 2/3 of the tests to be accurate. I think this would be a reasonable
level of inaccuracy because the majority amounts of DNA tests are still correct and prove individuals
to be guilty of crimes they did commit. Additionally, if I was to participate as a member of a jury this
level of inaccuracy still looks reasonably low allowing me to still have faith in DNA testing and have
positive outlook in our nation s judicial

The Sharia Law And Islamic Law
The Sharia law is the build of Islamic law. It help Islamic law become what people know of it today.
Many people live under this legal system that is based on Islam which some private parts of life are
controlled. The Islamic law is the sacred legal system prevailing the members of the Islamic belief.
This one is resulting from the religious principles of Islam, mainly the Quran and the Hadith.
However, Sharia law is the law of Islam, This law is originally based on the actions and words of
Muhammad, which are named Sunnah, and the Quran, that he wrote (2016). The Sharia law covers
numerous of topics while some others may deal with public behavior, private behavior and private
beliefs. Out of all the legal systems throughout the world currently, Islam s Sharia law is the utmost
disturbing and firm, particularly contrary to women. For example, according to the law a man can beat
his wife for disobedience, a woman cannot speak alone to a man who is not her relative of husband,
and a female heir inherits half of what a male heir inherits and other laws against them. These laws
that have been made really shows no fairness to the rights women. Islamic law signifies one and only
of the world s great legal systems. As an illustration, the Judaic law influenced western legal systems,
Islamic law made as a significant part of the religion. The term Sharia is an Arabic term meaning the
right path and discusses the traditional Islamic law (2016). Subsequently the Sharia

Thesis Statement On Occupational Stress
This thesis explores the area of occupational stress at a well known construction company in Sweden,
by interviewing employees about their views and perceptions of causes and effects of job stress and
what areas that calls for improvement. To get a broader picture of the employee perceptions, an
employee survey was sent out to a larger group of employees working in the Gothenburg area. It is
clear that construction personnel suffer from a high level of occupational stress. A difference was
spotted between those who work on site, compared to those working at the office. Site managers and
supervisors working on site were the ones that experienced the highest level of stress. By working in
projects, they have both tight deadlines and budgets to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leaves the company, along with other construction companies in the industry, dependent on
unskilled labour, which in turn brings its own risks. It may increase mistakes and safety risks through
miscommunication and lack of knowledge of how certain tasks should be performed accurately.
However, this is in issue to the whole industry, as it is a scarcity of personnel. It is clear that
construction projects depend on the employees knowledge and skills in planning and executing the
work, but as mentioned, it is increasingly difficult to find those people. Moreover, this makes it
increasingly important to sufficiently train newly hired employees, as they are a necessity in current
projects. It was notified that newly hired personnel may not receive adequate training at all times, as
experienced individuals do not always feel they have time to take care of them properly. This in turn,
could be seen as very harmful to the business, as it may take longer time for them to learn, but the
company may also lose those individuals to competitors or even other

Familial Connections in Invisible Man
Family. It is a very fluid yet rigid idea. It has a wealth of definitions, all of which range in degree and
magnitude, and vary from person to person; yet the concept of how a family should work and operate
is very concrete in most American minds. Family is a bond that is crafted every second of everyday
until it is powerful, and this can shape beliefs, outlooks, and confidence. A study found that children
with father figures that are highly involved benefit because an immense range of emotions are
modelled to them as children, and consequently they will be more adapt at recognizing and expressing

of his culture and heritage. Bledsoe s utter disdain for his fellow black man leaves the narrator with a

as if Invisible Man treats his mentors like ever changing trends, abandoning one and immediately

Jack quickly opens his arms to the narrator and gives him a house, a great salary, and he even starts to

  • 2. Media Bias And Its Impact On Society For the majority of history, newspapers have reported hard facts. Newspapers were a trusted source that society depended on to form their own opinion. More than ever, today it seems to be more difficult to find facts or truth. Just on that statement two significant and impactful questions are raised. Why is there so much bias and discrepancies between reporting and why is society fine with this? Anyone who pays attention to the reporting that is going on, they would notice the first question, but do not take it a moment to question why the public or themselves allow it. This all ties back to newspapers because they are beginning of this disaster. Although there hundreds of colleges and universities offer reporting degrees, these two questions are the heart of the matter and affecting society negatively. The daily activity of reading and watching any news outlet becomes filled with garbage. This garbage, of course, is media bias. It is ironic that every media outlet will call out the other side, yet committing exactly the same sin at that very moment. This is dreadful for the audience or the public because one has no idea what is going on or is true. Paul Farhi, Washington Post, points out, Meanwhile, just about every new poll of public sentiment shows that confidence in the news media has hit a new low. Seventy seven percent of those surveyed by the Pew Research Center in the fall said the media tend to favor one side compared with 53 percent who said so in 1985. This ... • 3. George W. Bush Speech Analysis The central idea of the 43th president, George W. Bush Speech for the incident of dictator of Iraq taking over Kuwait was that we are going to war with allies and soldiers who believe we have to fight with the cruel dictator of Iraq because when we offered peace they only wanted war and now we have to save the people of Kuwait. George immediately starts to play with our motions at the beginning about the dictator of Iraq taking over the weak Kuwait, when the dictator of Iraq invaded a small and helpless neighbor... was crushed; its people, brutalized. Five months ago, Saddam Hussein started his cruel war against Kuwait ( Bush 2). Bush started using invaded , small , helpless neighbor , crushed , brutalized and cold war , all negative ... He subjected the people of Kuwait to unspeakable atrocities and among those maimed and murdered, innocent children... more dangerous weapons of mass destruction... While the world waited, Saddam Hussein met every overture of peace with open contempt. While the world prayed for peace, Saddam prepared for war (Bush ?). Bush went further with his negative connotations and effective words such as raped, pillaged, and plundered a tiny nation , unspeakable atrocities , maimed and murdered, innocent children , dangerous weapons of mass destruction and Saddam prepared for war to show how Saddam is destroying and hurting this little nation that had nothing to provoke them, even killing innocent children, and that would play with a human s emotions making them feel this Saddam person is awful and we should fight them for the protection of the Kuwaiti people. Also, when we were trying to make peace with them they only prepared for war, making another human person think that the only way to end this horrible situation is to go into war with the Iraq dictator. Developing the central idea further and to make sure people on his side, starting with little bit of sadness and increasing as it goes on, to make sure he doesn t spring all of this on one person because then the sadness won t have as a effect on ... The And The Great Depression Introduction Because of the wealth afforded through the Industrial Revolution the beginning of the 20th century in the United States was filled with peace and prosperity. However, in the background war was on the horizon. After two world wars and the Great Depression, some of the movements of the 19th century were re established. Moreover, new movements emerged in response to the issues created from the wars and the Great Depression. I will discuss the major religious, social and political movements that emerged in the 20th century. Subsequently, the Pentecostal movement spread through different denominations in the United States. The Pentecostal movement resulted in the creation the Assemblies of God, which is the main Pentecostal denomination in the United States. In addition to the overcrowding and other urban issues brought on by immigration, European ideas also immigrated to the United States. Darwin s theory of evolution questioned the validity of the creation story in the book of Genesis. The theory taught that through evolution humans would have the capability to solve problems and create peace, joy, freedom and abundance. In response, Protestant Liberalism emerged and taught that humans were free to think as they pleased. Gonzalez noted, Protestant Liberalism was an attempt to couch Christianity in the mold of those ideas, and gained wide acceptance among the intellectual elite in the U.S. . Although most liberals were Christians, there was a group of radical liberals called modernist who were not Christian. In addition, the modernist did not believe in the Bible, instead they believed the key to achievement was will power. According to Alister McGrath, The fundamental theme of modernism was its desire to control . Because the theory of evolution was a direct contradiction of the Christian faith, many Christians viewed liberalism as a threat. As a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Hitomi Cinderellana Alternate Ending Konoha was in bloom. And Hitomi Hane hadn t seen anything so beautiful in a long time like this village. From the banners waving slowly in the summer breeze to the decorations and tender feeling of love radiating from every citizen, Hitomi couldn t imagine anywhere she would rather be. Not even her homelands. Her eyes were wide behind the fabric that covered half of the genin s face, a small smile appearing on her face as she walked through the streets alone. She would have to fly up later and get a better view, before they did the fireworks, since she couldn t remember what the village looked like from the air. Every village was different and if she wanted to train and become a scouting shinobi, a kanchi taipu, practicing now wouldn t hurt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She could buy Kiyoshi some flowers, maybe one of those wreaths she saw people wear? Would he like that? Maybe...but if she got one for herself and then some for Kiyoshi? Or if she got one for herself, found him, asked if he wanted one and then got him one? That way she could spend more time with him. The teenager s face lit up as she jogged over to the flower shop s door, tugging it open. Hitomi s senses were bombarded from all the blossoms and plants that filled the store. This is so beautiful... Hi there, can I help you, sir? Too engrossed by the colors and scents of the flower shop, Hitomi didn t realize that the employee was addressing her. It wasn t till the shop worker spoke again, looking directly at Hitomi with a smile that the genin figured it all out. Sir. Suddenly Hitomi was painfully aware of her brown robes, short hair, and...well her body. She knew she looked like a young boy but she hadn t been called a guy in a long time as most in Kumokagure knew who she was as heiress to the Hane Clan. But Konoha didn t know that. Hitomi s face flushed as she looked down at her feet, shifting nervously, feeling confined in the shop, too stuck without the sky above her. But to correct the shop worker would be even more embaressing, for both of them, so Hitomi said nothing to the other woman. The CDC is also doing research on the link between Zika virus and the birth defects that it causes. They also educate people about the Zika virus and issue travel warnings on the place that have outbreaks. CDC is also recommending that all men that travel to countries with travel warnings to practice safe sex for a while after returning from those trips because it is suspected that Zika can be passed through semen. President Obama signed a release of emergency funds that has provided $1.8 billion dollars to help accelerate research into a vaccine for Zika. (USA Today 2016) Another method that is being tried in countries like Brazil is the release of genetically modified male mosquitoes. These male mosquitoes have genetically modified genes that will cause their offspring to die quickly so that they will never reach maturity and since male mosquitoes do not bite they cannot spread disease. The biotech company Oxitec which is behind this concept, has stated that it can reduce populations by 80%. (Stein 2016) This has been deemed a safe method of mosquito reduction by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. • 7. The Dark Knight Dilogy Part 1 Hal Freeland 10/26/16 The Dark Knight Dilogy Part 1 Bruce Wayne, the Batman, leaned against one of the many high reaching, cold, damp, and rocky walls of the Batcave. Not suited up, but wearing khakis and an undershirt, he felt the cold of the wall while waiting for some crime information to process. There was a particular robbery that he could not be the first responder to. But of course, the Gotham Police are on a different level of skill in the crime stopping field, therefore, the offenders escaped the scene. Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne s butler, enters the Batcave in his typical dress, a tuxedo. Any updates on the robbery, Master Bruce? asked Alfred with his sophisticated English accent. Bruce says with a sigh, I m afraid not, Alfred. Well, I brought you some coffee in case you are down here for a while more. The butler said. Thanks Alfred. Said Bruce. Always welcome, Master Bruce. Then the butler strolled into the industrial looking steel grate elevator, and exited the Batcave. About 15 minutes later, the report had been fully processed. The report read: No sizable threat. Suggestions: Let GCPD handle it. Bruce let out an exhausted sigh of relief. He concluded he had gotten about three hours of sleep in the last week. Suddenly, he remembered with a startle that three hours is the minimum amount of sleep for a person over the course of a week. The next morning, after seven hours of sleep, Alfred woke him with a spinach smoothie and a protein bar in hand. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to oxforddictionaries.com, satire is The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. This literary device is portrayed heavily in both the illustrations Gin Lane by William Hogarth and in Untitled by Paul Kuczynski. Gin Lane is basically an illustration by William Hogarth that depicts life in the gin shops and shows the negative effects the drink had on the people of London. Willaim Hogarth used all these startling scenes to grab the attention of the viewer and give them an insight on London at its lowest. Through Gin Lane, Hogarth expressed the ravenous effects gin had on the people of London and how it affected the living environment as well. Untitled by Paul Kuczynski also contains satire, however the author of this portrait uses satire to depict the theme of isolation, instead of misery, poverty, ruin and neglect. This simple, yet thought provoking picture, shows a man looking through a periscope that is shaped like the Facebook symbol, to see through a window above an open door. The door is not barricaded in any way, shape or form, so the man is able to walk outside and see what is going on in the world first hand. Instead, he chooses to stay inside by himself and view the world through Facebook. Through Untitled, Kuczynski conveys the message that social media interaction is overtaking physical interaction. People are more likely to go on social media to find out what is happening than to go out and experience it themselves. Kuczynski s painting greatly showcases that even in its simplicity. Despite the fact that both pieces of art contain various differences, they contain similarities as well. Some of the differences include the message portrayed, themes and the style of drawing. • 10. The Sociology Of War And Violence Essay Talking about war tends to make people feel emotional, feel a sort of adrenaline rush, mad, and even proud. These emotions can at times, in my opinion, bring groups together and separate others because of disagreements on views and beliefs. While it is not easy to talk to anyone about delicate topics such as this one, it is important to acknowledge how war can influence societal behavior and culture. Many can argue that war unites people, particularly speaking of the United States; a country is known for its patriotism and pride when it comes down to its military forces and achievements across nations. The book The Sociology of War and Violence , gives an insight of how war can be understood from different perspectives. While war is believed by some that people come together in solidarity, the chapters on nationalism and war as well as propaganda and war, analyzed important factors such as the understanding of war and its impact on societies culture at a macro level. It is easy to argue that we can easily assume war brings the best in individuals when society is facing mutual concerns and worries. When society comes together as one it brings a sense of solidarity and strength giving us a sense of power. This is a common feeling, for instance, lets consider us when it comes down to support our military; above all things, despite our differences in religion, socio economic status, ages, gender, etc.... majority support their actions because they make sense and they are in the ... It tracks the lives of lifelong friends in a small town before and after three of them go to Vietnam. The main male characters that go to Vietnam are Michael, Nick, and Steven. The beginning of the film shows the kind of friendship they have with one another before becoming a soldier using up about an hour of screentime. The middle of the film shows what they went through during the war, the last part of the film was used to show how they were affected in their lives. What most likely influenced the film like the many other war films at the time was the relatively recent end of the Vietnam war. The setting of the film was realistic never did I think while watching that this was something that wouldn t have happened. The atmosphere suggested that Pennsylvania was a quiet place free from trouble, while Vietnam was a place full of mayhem and temptations. There was one very blatant symbol used to foreshadow the events to come. Family is a bond that is crafted every second of everyday until it is powerful, and this can shape beliefs, outlooks, and confidence. A study found that children with father figures that are highly involved benefit because an immense range of emotions are modelled to them as children, and consequently they will be more adapt at recognizing and expressing their own emotions. Because a father s role is to lead by example and teach core values Invisible man accepts Bledsoe s ideology and beliefs with little hesitation; even when Dr. Bledsoe orders for him to leave the college, an order that would inevitably hurt his future, Invisible Man convinces himself that he has violated the code and deserves Bledsoe s punishment (Ellison 147). This early interaction with Bledsoe furthers the neglect and embarrassment of his culture and heritage. Bledsoe s utter disdain for his fellow black man leaves the narrator with a sense of shame of his southern black roots as he heads to New York and later discovers the brotherhood and Brother Jack. Gerald Lyn Early describes Brother Jack as, the latest father figure (96) as if Invisible Man treats his mentors like ever changing trends, abandoning one and immediately latching on to another. Down on his luck the narrator easily accepts Brother Jack into his life. Brother Jack quickly opens his arms to the narrator and gives him a house, a great salary, and he even starts to shape and mentor the narrator in his image. This leads to a need and desire for confirmation of his worth by Brother Jack about his speeches and work in the community. Brother Jack becomes, as the narrator puts it, the great white father (Ellison 473). But the narrator s faultless image surrounding Brother Jack ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
