Difficulties In The Election Of 1828
In 1828 the election rematch between then President John Quincy Adams placed him against
Democratic frontrunner Andrew Jackson. Factions appeared in the long dominant Democratic
Republican Party; the National Republican Party and the Republicans in which they both struggled for
control. The bitterness and divisiveness of the two factions showed a glimmer of what was to become
in the years before 1861.
In the South, states like Georgia had difficulties with the Cherokee Nation. These difficulties were not
due to tribal violence but rather with the Cherokee occupation of the Northwest Georgia. The
Cherokees flourished under the Civilization Program began by President George Washington after
signing multiple treaties with the Federal government since 1785. By the time of the election of 1828,
the Cherokee Nation had their own constitution, a written language, and capital at New Echota. Some
Cherokees also mimicked the cultural styles of their white neighbors such as privately owning slaves
used to work cotton farms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The call for the removal of the Cherokees to the Great American Desert across the Mississippi River
echoed stronger than in previous years.[1] In October of 1828 in present day Dahlonega, Georgia,
active gold mines were discovered near Cherokee land. For many whites, the time to completely
remove the Cherokees from the lands came. The newly elected President Andrew Jackson agreed to do
so with his signature on the Indian Removal Act. Jackson lived in the backcountry of North and South
Carolina for quite a bit of his youth as well as the territory of Tennessee. This paper is focusing on the
rise of Andrew Jackson as a war hero to presidency and his Indian policy that led to the heart
wrenching expulsion of the Cherokee Indians in the

Hypnosis Research Paper
The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of hypnosis is usually a magician convincing a
person to act like a chicken, however, hypnosis is actually an approach that doctors can use to treat
pain, depression, anxiety, phobias, and more. Hypnosis is a state in which a person appears to be under
a trance and is extremely concentrated (Brandt). It is not a new concept. In fact, hypnosis has been
used by the ancient Egyptians over 2,000 years ago (healing power). In the 1770s, the Austrian
physician Franz Anton Mesmer began to study hypnosis scientifically. More recently, it was used
during World War I and World War II to treat soldiers who experienced post traumatic stress disorder
and other mental disorders (World Book). There are some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be used to make patients less nervous before a surgery and can comfort them during recovery. It
can also be used to combat the side effects of chemotherapy, radiation, or a chronic illness (World
Book). Hypnosis can also help the 25% of Americans who avoid and fear the dentist. After a five
minute hypnosis session, patients can be relaxed enough to receive novocaine and the treatment they
need inexpensively and without medication (healing power). Finally, hypnosis can help burn victims.
These people must have their dead skin removed every day for up to a few months. The process is so
painful that most patients must be given powerful painkillers that can be addictive and can cause
confusion, gastrointestinal problems, and breathing trouble. Hypnosis can relax the patient and can
allow them to go through the treatment without experiencing pain. The hypnosis session is
inexpensive and does not require addictive medication (healing power). Despite the evidence that
supports the fact that hypnosis is a legitimate approach to treating conditions, many graduate schools
have little hypnosis training in their psychology programs (Smith). This needs to change so that more
people can become trained hypnotists so the approach can become more widespread. As previously
stated, it would benefit hospitals financially and patients physically. It is free, can treat a variety of
conditions, has no side effects, and is not addictive. Dr. Spiegel believes that it could even be used in
place of addictive opiates. More time and money must be put into research on hypnosis and its
practice as it could save hospitals and patients money in the long run and could help a variety of
patients heal

Historical Accuracy of the Film Good Night Good Luck Essay
The Movie good night good luck is incredibly historically accurate. The Movie uses authentic clips
that show McCarthy and many speeches Murrow used. World War ended in 1945 leaving a broken
Europe and a communist block behind. The United States quickly receded back to the red scare that
had existed before WWII. The United States quickly set an anti communist stance and prepared for a
war against the communists. While the war never came some enterprising individuals placed
themselves in powerful positions using the paranoia created. Among these individuals one came
forward and began one of the most controversial historical programs. Joe McCarthy a nobody

Using Edward Murrow s speeches means that the Good Night and Good Luck keeps close to the truth.
Using Authentic Material during this movie helps Clooney illustrate the true story. Some would claim
any movie made for entertainment must possess some historical flaws Good Night, and Good Luck
defies that rule even having the characters private lives straight. Don Hollenbeck committed suicide
because using gas for the exact reasons the movie listed. State Master Encyclopedia states He died
from natural gas inhalation... several reasons that it might have been suicide included health problems,
a broken marriage, and frequent published attacks by Jack O Brian (State master Encyclopedia). This
event was completely and well illustrated in the movie. Joe and Shirley Wershba the married couple
were really married which was forbidden through C.B.S. policy. Brooklyn College states, Wershbas
had to keep their marriage secret from their employers. (Brooklyn College). The movie even got
Edward Murrow s smoking habits right. Ed Murrow smoked huge amounts of cigarettes Shirley
Wershba stated in her interview. Murrow was a four pack a day smoker (Brooklyn College). Good
Night Good Luck shows the real people acting in the movie brilliantly. The care Clooney takes
showing the character s accurately exemplifies the care he takes ensuring the movies complete
accuracy. Filming this movie using material such as black and white camera s, actual clips, and the

Ellen Winner s Gifted Children
In the 1996 book Gifted children: Myths and realities by Ellen Winner, the author of over 100 articles
and four books, takes the opposing view in this work to the more current studies regarding producing
giftedness through effort, as her study here defends a heavier influence played by brain development.
She recognizes three characteristics found in gifted children: precocity, an insistence to marching to
the beat of their own drummer, and what she calls a rage to master, or better stated, a driving force to
gain mastery over what the gifted student has a special proclivity toward understanding and doing.
Winner also illustrates many of the myths that follow the idea of what gifted children should be able to
do. Through her research, one of

Exercise Physiology
Pate and Durstine (2004) define exercise physiology as the study of physical activity and the effect it
has on the body, including its tissues and cells, over brief or extended periods of time. Over the years
this discipline has made contributions to human health and has lead to athletic success through
maximizing human potential.
Clinical sports medicine has been greatly impacted by exercise physiology for a number of reasons,
but most importantly has made improvements in enhancing athletic performance through methods that
facilitate prevention and allow proper treatment for sports related injury, along with testing that can
give insight to further the success of athletes. Clinical physiologists focus on exercise design and

Regular participation in physical activity betters the body s ability to optimize oxygen consumption,
making it easier for oxygen to be transported to all areas of the body; this not only improves overall
health, but it also results in a less fatigued process when expending energy (Burton et al., 2004). Shaw,
B.S. and Shaw, I. were interested in determining whether resistance training would alter the VO2 max
levels of individuals, reducing the risks for coronary artery disease (CAD). They studied 28 male
subjects who were either matched to a control group exempting exercise or the resistance training
group. Through their experimental pre test and post test design, the researchers observed that the pre
test and post test VO2 max levels were relatively sedentary for the control group with values of
25.097 ml/kg/min and 23.778 ml/kg/min, but significantly increased for the resistance training group
from 26.674 ml/kg/min to 30.981 ml/kg/min. Their research concluded that with increased VO2 max
levels found in those participating in resistance training exercises, the risks of CAD were significantly
lowered, and as a result suggested that this type of training could be implementing into more training
programs to improve the health of individuals (Shaw, B.S. Shaw, I., 2005). To further support this
claim, a broader group of individuals and a larger sample size could be

Consumer Behaviour Towards Fmcg
Consumer behavior towards the new packaging of FMCG products. The importance of packaging
design as a vehicle for communication and branding is growing in competitive markets for packaged
FMCG products. This research utilized a focus group methodology to understand consumer behavior

purchasing decision model, by understanding Consumer s behavior towards the packaging of FMCG
products. When consumers search for and process information in store, the product s package can
contain relevant and useful information for the consumer. Product packaging forms the end of the

Samurai Dbq Analysis
The samurai the warrior for Japan, they were determined to defend their ruler no matter what the cost
is for example torture, Death or imprisonment. The knight was the warrior for Europe. They kept
order in Europe when there was none. Even though samurai and knights have many similarities, in a
one on one battle, the advantage would be to the samurai and this can be seen in their armor, training
and beliefs. The first way samurais would have an advantage is their armor. In document D written by
the DBQ Project it states The helmet bowl was made of 8 12 iron plates. This gives them the upper
hand because they had more head protection, this allows them to take more blows to the head. Another
piece of evidence that supports my claim is in document D written by the DBQ Project it says Below
it was a 5 piece neck guard . Their neck protection is probably one of the most important place to
protect because one hit to the neck can paralyze them or kill them. Although armor is important, there
are more subjects that could lead them to victory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

garbage collection in that area can be accelerated. The goal of our module is to automate garbage
management and keep the city clean and hygienic. 6.1.2 Overview of responsibilities of Developer
Building a prototype of an intelligent bin which will continuously monitor the level of garbage present
in the bin with the help of sensors. There are two different types of sensors used in this model:
HX711 sensor : It is present at the bottom of the bin and it will measure the weight of the bin and
garbage present in it. This value will be converted to digital value with the help of an ADC.
HC SR04 : Used to measure the detect the level of garbage. It works on ultrasonic waves similar to
that of a sonar based on proximity the level of the garbage will be detected. There are multiple sensors
installed based on the size of the bin. Using the current positions of the sensors the bin will be
calibrated. The value

Good Communication Within A Business Environment
Abstract
Communication is one of the most important skills that people utilize everyday. Mainly people use
this to exchange ideas and develop interpersonal relationships. The specific reasons it is key to have
good communication within a business environment is that it will assist in the success of a business as
well as developing required professional relationships. Research has been conducted into six of the
most key communication aspects that effect businesses in the previous sentences. These six are;
communication channel, non verbal communication, correct wording, cultural conflicts, personal
perception and he quantity of communication. If these aspects are not considered for a reasonable
amount of time before the commencement of a day they can have detrimental affects on the business,
by business relationships being damaged, or never formed, and without these relationships it will be
harder for a business to succeed.
Before we can discuss why communication is vital we must define it, it is defined as The imparting or
exchanging of information by speaking, writing, or using some other medium. (Oxford, 2015)
Communication is key based on this definition not only in business but also just in life. It is also a
difficult object to get right, and needs to be planned thoroughly before continuing. (Dewatripont Triole
2005, p. 1217) This supported by many other authors. The question has been posed, Does
communication always have a positive effect on a business?

Guillermo Del Toro s New Horror Film
Beware of Crimson Peak! no really beware.
Guillermo del Toro is the director behind this new horror film which does not seem to inspire a single
scream. The film becomes the opposite of what del Toro had in mind, who dared to think that Crimson
Peak would be a groundbreaking film in the horror genre. He thought this film could reach the level of
films like, The Exorcist, The Innocents, The Omen, or The Shining. No del Toro, no, it will not.
Heroine Edith Cushing (Wasikowska) is an aspiring American author with an eye for the supernatural.
She was compared to Jane Austen, however, Edith replied she will rather be author Mary Shelley

The murders, spoiler alert, are gory. In a way, too exaggerated; too over the top gory. In fact, one of
the murders, without mentioning who dies or who is the murderer, has incredibly and and implausible
strength. Not implying because the killer is a woman, but, perhaps, even considering a man, not all
men could not have employed such levels of strength.
It is for these and other reasons that Universal refused to finance this film and decided to only finance
the advertising and marketing campaign of Crimson Peak. It is also why del Toro had to pay out of
pocket, because he could not accept the studio s request, or rather stipulation, to make the film a PG
13 film. Out of stubbornness Crimson Peak, which is one of del Toro s favorite movies to have made,
the director and the entire film felt short.
The performances are decent, but since the characters are so idiotically written, the viewer is incapable
to feel any sympathy towards them. Instead of the script having drawn dramatic and frightening
performances, they became comical. Actually the film itself is a horror comedy by serendipity rather
than the gothic romance it yearns to

The Rationalist Tenets Of Thomas Paine s The Crisis
In The Crisis by Thomas Paine, Thomas Paine wrote about his support for independence against Great
Britain. This essay was written by Thomas Paine to boost the morale of soldiers fighting for this
independence against Great Britain. Thomas Paine wrote about the obstacles the colonies would face
if they did not fight against Britain to gain independence. Thomas Paine s essay demonstrates the tenet
of rationalism to show support for the self governing of America. Two rationalist tenets that Thomas
Paine uses are liberty and freedom are God given inalienable rights and the emphasis on logic and
reason over religion

Our patient called their primary care physician first, and reported that their 25 month old child had
diarrhea for the past two days with 4 5 watery stools each day. He was also vomiting, refusing to eat,
and was only able to keep down small amounts of water. The reason the mother called the physician
was today the child was acting very lethargically and became very irritated whenever she tried to feed
or give fluids. Upon hearing this the physician directed her to the hospital to seek help as he suspected
moderate to severe dehydration. Given this background two of the criteria for possible moderate to
severe dehydration have been met so a physical assessment is warranted. Patient did not have an

With this information we provided teaching using the teaching plan attached in appendix A. The
teaching plan can be summarized in three main points: 1) Parents need to understand the importance
of rehydrating with an oral rehydration solution (ORS) instead of water alone. 2) Child should be
given approximately 6 ounces of ORS for each loose stool or vomiting episode. This ORS should be
administered in teaspoons at a slow steady rate if the child is refusing to drink normally, or if vomiting
occurs after drinking. 3) Normal age appropriate diet should be offered to the infant, no special
considerations are required. Since the infant is currently mildly dehydrated we need to provide 6
ounces of ORS to restore normal hydration in addition to 6 ounces for each additional episode. Since
the infant has been refusing to drink this is the perfect opportunity for the mother and father to
practice giving ORS using a teaspoon. Family was instructed to provide a teaspoon full of ORS to
their child as often as he would accept it over a period of one to two hours until at least 6 ounces have
been administered. They were advised that the child may want more fluid as time goes on, so they can
increase the rate as tolerated. When an oral solution is administered by the caregiver in controlled
amounts (one or two teaspoons every one to two minutes, with gradual increases in amount as
tolerated), the familiar regimen of frequent small sips can deliver a volume

believe in the gentleness of a horse. After seeing all of that power and strength that a horse can make,
it can be one of the most gentle creatures on earth. They are so much more incredibly powerful than
you, yet they let you pet them, ride them, and pick up their feet off the ground. Even though there

A Defining Moment Essay
Many people influenced and events my reading and writing development throughout my childhood
from my mother, my elementary librarian, and Sesame Street, to getting my first pair of glasses. We
all have defining moments in our lives where we can look back and say, That moment changed my
life. This is the story of the defining moment that changed the way I read and write, and I learned it
from a whale!
It was the beginning of my seventh grade year. I was about twelve years old and, I guess you could
say a nerd. I did well in school so I was placed in the Gifted and Talented program with other nerds in
my class. As part of this program we were required to read at a certain level or read a certain number

I thought to myself, hey, I like whales. I ve read stories about ships and pirates and stuff before. This
looks like something I might like. I can still smell the old paper and threaded binding resonating in my
mind as I opened the book and scrolled through the pages, soaking in the vibrant illustrations of what
would soon become my obsession for the next six months.
Happy with my selection and feeling fairly proud of myself, I take the book to the check out desk. The
desk is occupied by the stereotypical librarian. She is an older lady probably in her sixties with gray
wiry hair and half square bi focal glasses that sit on the end of her nose. As I place the book on the
counter, she looks down her nose and through her glasses at me with a look of skepticism. Frowning
as she speaks, she tells me that maybe I should choose something else. Undaunted, I refuse and ask to
check out the book. She gives a few other suggestions but again, I refuse. She wishes me luck as she
slides it back to me and I stuff the hefty book into my backpack.
I start reading the book and right away it is intimidating from the very first paragraph. I am faced with
language and sentence structure I do not understand, what is a bedfellow and why does he carry a
purse? Is he gay? Immediately I am second guessing my decision but I am determined to get through
this book. It takes me the better part of a week to get through the first chapter. I

In J.D. Salinger s Nine Stories , there are two stories that indicate a death, and, remarkably, these two
short stories are what begin and end this captivating piece of literature. The first story is called A
Perfect Day for Bananafish and introduces a man who has been through the hell of World War II,
which allows him to see things from a different perspective. The latter is called Teddy and revolves
around a young, ingenious boy that seems to have a speculative mindset and very deep insight into
life. In both stories the reader is introduced to a genius , but the geniuses, with all the potentials at
hand, end up going mad and killing themselves. However, this proves to be Salinger s point. It

When Seymour takes his own life, we backtrack to his story and he is then seen as a celestial figure,
ahead of his time and full of wisdom. Metaphorically speaking, the bananafish ideology depicts
humanity in the postwar boom generation, where riches surround all people. However, amidst all the
possessions, we cannot help ourselves and we continuously and relentlessly consume, regardless of
what may happen as a result. We are each trapped in our own banana filled hole, in which Seymour
ultimately escapes from through his death.
In the final short story Teddy , the main character is a ten year old boy who is as intuitive and
intelligent as any character gets in this novel, with the exception of Seymour of course. Like Seymour
Glass, Teddy sees the world differently than his peers. The two tend to focus their a lot of their
attention on small details, such as orange peels, the colour of bathing suits, a woman that seemingly
looks at Seymour s feet, and appear to mirror a larger scale vision of humanity. Teddy s orange peels
recall Seymour s bananafish. Both their objects, in Seymour s case an imaginary one, are somewhat
allegorical in a sense that they seem to suggest a philosophical portrayal of humanity. To clarify,
Teddy first notices the orange peels floating and finds them interesting. The remnants of what was

The Importance Of Media Literacy
Indeed, the pervasiveness of media in its abundant forms in contemporary US culture is undeniable.
Almost everywhere one looks, one can find forms of media; a magazine at a doctor s office, a
billboard alongside a freeway, a painting at an art gallery, a performance on television or on stage.
Media, undeniably, is ubiquitous. However, in all the innumerous forms media comes to us in, every
one of these forms is created for a single purpose; to communicate an idea or message. Thus, it the
individual s ability to interpret these forms and decipher their meaning has become critical. But how
are students, as well as educators, supposed to interact and interpret media? Propitiously, just as with

7 8). Hoechsmann Poyntz furthers Buckingham s argument by eloquently writing, Rather than being
positioned as victims, a focus on media... addresses the complex ways youths become agents in their
life and the lives of others (Hoechsmann Poyntz, 2012, p. 109).
Indeed, because the singular purpose of media is to convey an idea or a message to the masses, media
must have an audience; which is to say a group who consumes it. Further, because of its omnipresence
in US culture, media will certainly almost always have an audience; for anyone who is exposed to
media may be considered part of its audience; whether they consciously acknowledge their
participation or not. Consequently, through a variety of forms, such as access to television and the
internet, children today are exposed to media from a very early age. Assuredly, as Buckingham
suggests, starting from a young age of even four or five, children have already started interacting with
media (Buckingham, 2004, p. 41 45). Subsequently, children, from a very early age, most certainly,
are members of the media s audience. However, the central question presented here is whether
children should be forced to remain a passive consumer or be encouraged to become an audience s
active participant.

are important factors to customer value perceptions. Although customer perceived value has long been
recognized in marketing research as an important concept in influencing preference, satisfaction,
loyalty, and other important outcomes (Cronin et al., 2000), most studies have examined customer
value in the context of offline rather than online customer behavior (Overby Lee, 2006). Although
customer perceived value in the online shopping environment is of crucial importance, previous
studies have neglected that variable (Chang et al., 2005). In an online environment, customers can find
alternatives easily; therefore building long term relationships presents a more difficult challenge for E
commerce companies (Chang Wang, 2011). Gummerus (2010) investigated the impact of three
resource inputs (i.e., service content, service process, and service configurations) on the perceptions of
value of a Finnish health care website. The results reveal that the service content of the discussion
groups had the strongest relationship with customer value, followed by article content and database
content. As to service process security, usability, and responsiveness were all

Kraft Foods, Inc.
Case Topic, Setting, and Perspective Kraft Foods, Inc. pursued an aggressive launch of coffee pods in
the United States, but had less than a month to decide whether Kraft should proceed with a similar
launch in Canada, or await the U.S. results. However, a Canadian launch withholds several decisions.
A suitable branding strategy is necessary, wholesale and suggested retail price for coffee pods, choose
which flavors to offer, and decide whether Kraft should use traditional distribution channels or direct
to store (DSD). Also, the development of an effective advertising and promotion strategy on a
relatively limited budget is necessary. From a consultant perspective, Kraft has chosen to pursue the
Canadian market. Kraft has chosen a Canadian test market because a test market assumes less risk,
less cost, and insightful information regarding the purchase of coffee pods in a foreign country.
History and background Kraft is an innovative company that started over 100 years ago, in 1903, by a
man named James Lewis Kraft. This man decided to get into the cheese business and purchased
wholesale cheese. He then began selling this cheese to small stores in Chicago, Illinois. With the help
of his brothers, the business grew exponentially and they eventually began manufacturing their own
cheese. With its continued expansion and growth, Kraft quickly became a common household name,
and by 1926 sales were $36 million. Over the years Kraft expanded its product line to Philadelphia

Anthony Fokker In World War 1
Topic 1 Pioneers
Anthony Fokker, discuss his contributions to the development of aviation during and after World War
One.
Anthony Herman Gerard Fokker, born in the Dutch East Indies, in what is now Indonesia in 1890.
However, the Fokker family soon moved back to their native Holland, where Anthony received his
early primary and early secondary education. Presumably, it was in these early years that Fokker
became intrigued by flight.
By the time he was 20 years old, while still in Germany, Anthony designed, developed and built his
first aircraft, and then taught himself how to fly it ( Anthony Herman Gerard Fokker, n.d., para. 3). By
the outbreak of World War One in July of 1914, Fokker had set up an aircraft manufacturing plant and
a flight school. Initially, Germany purchased his M.5 fighter, a mono wing aircraft based on a French
Morane Saulnier G design utilizing steel tubing and a new airfoil and tail design. In fact, it was this
aircraft that Fokker developed perhaps his most notable invention the Synchronization Gear. This
mechanism allowed the placement of the aircrafts machine guns behind the propeller and

The Trimotor was also the aircraft of choice for Commander Richard Byrd, who with the help of his
co pilot Floyd Bennett were the first to fly over the North Pole in 1926. Finally, Fokker immigrated to
the United States and established the Atlantic Aircraft Corporation, later renamed the Fokker Aircraft
Corporation. By and large, Fokker aircraft were among the most common used by both American and
European airlines. However, in the late nineteen twenties, due to his reluctance to invest in new
technologies and poor quality control. Consequently, Fokker was forced to sell a controlling portion of
his company to General Motor and finished his days out there as a consultant on various

Friedrich Nietzsche s Influence On Modern Intellectual...
Friedman Wilhelm Nietzsche was a German philosopher, poet, cultural critic, philologist, and a Greek
and Latin scholar. His work has had lots of influence on modern intellectual history and Western
philosophy in general. It revolved mainly around art, philology, religion and science. He wrote about
morality, tragedy, aesthetics, atheism, epistemology and consciousness. However, some of Nietzsche s
most profound elements of his philosophy include his powerful critique of reason and truth. He argued
for perspectivism. He critiqued religion and Christian ethics, developed the concept of Ubermensch
and the doctrine of eternal return to support it. Also, Friedman Nietzsche came up with his theory of
master slave morality and response to the death of God and nihilism. The philosopher s notion of the
Apollonian and Dionysian were prominent as well. The paper discusses, in detail, some of Nietzsche s
major philosophies such as master and slave morality. It looks further into his view on nihilism; his
definition, why he was so much against it and what he thinks should replace it. Also, the write up
explains Nietzsche s analysis of Christianity as a dominant religion and its teachings. Lastly, it points
out the prejudices of philosophers and the relationship between philosophy and truth.Beyond good and
evil is a detailed account of Nietzsche s mature philosophy. Distinction between master and slave
morality In his book, Beyond good and evil, Nietzsche describes the

I Am Depressed And Hungry
I am poor. I am depressed and hungry. I have nothing and own nothing. Survival is difficult.
Every night, I sleep outside, in the boiling sun or in the freezing moonlight, on the hard ground.
Whether it is hailing or raining, I sleep there with my mama and sister. But it never snows or rains
here. We have no water.
In the morning, I wake up early, hungry, bony, and weak. My mama can t afford breakfast like you
can. Nothing lives here, so we are lucky if we find a few strands of grass.
Today, my mama found a few bright red seeds. We tried to eat them, but we were too weak to crack
them open. The sun had made them as hard as pebbles. We are still hungry.
Mama and my sister, Heyla, made necklaces, pretending the seeds were beads. They really did look
wonderful, but Mama knew we had to sell them.
I walked with Heyla, barefoot, on the rock covered ground. It had cracks in it from all the heat and
sunlight. Heyla and I panted to the village miles away, the stones and solid pieces of dirt sticking
painfully into our feet. The kids in the village had food and shoes. They even had schools and homes.
They were lucky.
Heyla entered the village gates first, but we both gasped at its sight. It looked like a paradise to us. All
those things. . . .
I wish we could live here, Heyla. Mama would be so much happier, I told my sister.
She nodded, but didn t answer. We both knew we couldn t afford life here. Ever since Papa died, the
villagers kicked us out.
At first when the villagers saw

miscarriages, nurses and sick people. During her life, St Catherine herself suffered illness leading her
to be the patron as apparent. At the age of 16, St Catherine had previously disregarded marriage, as
she envisioned mystical experiences seeing guardian angels, transforming her into a brilliant minded
young woman even though she was not supported with formal education. Since going against her
mothers wishes of her 23rd daughter, St Catherine was left alone after the demands of her father to do

The Stone Age Poem
The poetess realistically depicts the burdens of domestic life, sickness, her ageing and decaying of
body, and the anticipation of death in the final passage: I shall be the fat kneed hag in the long queue
The one from whose shopping bag the mean potato must Roll across the road. I shall be the patient On
the hospital bed, lying in drugged slum And dreaming of home. I shall be the grandmother Willing
away her belongings, those scraps and trinkets More lasting than her bones. Perhaps some womb in
that Darker world shall convulse, when I finally enter, A legitimate entrant, marked by discontent.
(Gino) The Stone Age, one of the finest poems in this anthology, strongly expresses the note of
rebellion against male domination. The wife resents the restraints imposed on her. The husband who is
described as an Old fat spider weaves webs of bewilderment around her and confines her within the
four walls of domesticity. She painfully complains. You turn me into a bird of stone, a granite Dove,
you build round me a shabby drawing room, And stroke my pitted face absent mindedly while you
read. She dislikes him as other men haunt her mind. Yet, as day dreams, strong men cast their
shadows, they sink Like white suns in the swell of my Dravidian blood. (The Stone Age)
In the absence of the husband she knocks at another s door. She asserts her individuality and
challenges domesticity. A note of rebellion and defiance is strongly expressed in this poem.

The Youngest US President ever to Take Office
John F. Kennedy was voted into office during the election of 1960. To date, Kennedy is the youngest
person to be elected President. Surprisingly, at the start of the campaign, Kennedy was a long shot to
win the Democratic nomination. Without a distinguished presence in the political world and the stigma
of being Roman Catholic, Kennedy had a lot of ground to conquer. In not just politics, but society,
religion is and was a controversial issue. Kennedy, who was Catholic, struggled against critics who
were anti Catholicism. It was often insisted that Kennedy would turn to the pope for orders and
therefore run our country based upon the Church. Kennedy overcame this obstacle by reassuring
voters he would not act according to the Church ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a nation that is expected to be the leaders of other nations, he would not settle for second. In the
case of exploring space, that was exactly where we were. The Soviet Union was far ahead of the
United States in its space program. With Project Apollo, Kennedy was determined to play catch up
and asked congress to invest more that twenty two billion dollars into the project. The end goal was to
have an American man on the moon before the end of the decade. Neil Armstrong was that man in
1969. Not only was the Soviet Union viewed as a threat with their space program being more advance,
but they also had nuclear missile sites being built. An American spy plane secretly photographed
evidence that both Cuba and the Soviet Union were building nuclear missile sites. President Kennedy
remained collected and directed that a naval blockade was placed around Cuba which would prevent
the Soviets from obtaining more military supplies. On the brink of what could have been a nuclear
war, there was an agreement made, the Soviets agreed to dismantle their weapons sites in exchange for
a pledge from the United States not to invade Cuba. Tension slowly began to lessen as time passed and
the agreement remained respected. Another one of Kennedy s problems he was confronted during
Presidency was racial discrimination. In 1954 the U.S. Supreme Court had ruled that segregation in
public schools would be no longer

individuals self centered motives often improve society: By pursuing his own interests he frequently
promotes that of the society more effectually than when he really intends to promote it (Donaldson,
167). Given Celgene s perceived self centered actions, Smith would note that this type of free market
behavior is positive and is guided by an invisible hand which helps such behavior to be beneficial to
society as a whole. The next philosopher to be examined would argue that the invisible hand that
Smith speaks of is indeed separate from the political realm. Milton Friedman continues with Smith s
line of logic as he asserts that the chief concern of the businessman must be to make a profit under
socially acceptable means and that the defining of social responsibilities must be left in the political

Socrates Death Argument Analysis
Brian Frias
Professor Pereira
Philosophy 100 M/W 8 9:15
9 February 2015
Socrates Death Arguments Socrates was an ancient philosopher set in Athens, Greece. Socrates, being
known for stirring up arguments amongst the city s wisest men, grew widely unpopular in the
community. This unpopularity, and many other troubles led Socrates to be accused and sentenced to
trial for corrupting the youth, and of not believing in the Gods of the city. During Socrates trial, he
brings up arguments about why we should not fear death, just as he does not. In this essay I will cover
Socrates two arguments about death, their inconsistencies, and explain why Socrates changed his
position about death towards the end of the trial. While Socrates is being held ... Show more content

He starts to talk about how this penalty of death is actually a good thing for him, and he is not angry
for it. Socrates then clearly says that he has proof that death is good. He starts to say that death is a
blessing and there are either two different scenarios of death. The first scenario of death is having no
perception of anything at all and having your soul relocated, like a great dreamless sleep, which in
Socrates eyes is truly a blessing. The second is in which your soul is relocated elsewhere, you are able
to talk to others that have passed like great figures from the past. The alleged inconstancy is clear
between these two arguments. The first argument Socrates states that he does not fear death because
he has no clue what lies beyond. He cannot fear what he does not know of. With both arguments he is
very confident in what he is saying, especially with the second argument claiming that he has proof
that death is good. In the second argument Socrates says that death can be two things and then
proceeds to explain what death is. In that argument, by stating what death is, he is clearly saying that
he has some knowledge about death and is completely contradicting his first

Q1. Discuss some of the examples of poor quality in information technology projects presented in the
What Went Wrong? section. Could most of these problems have been avoided? Why do you think
there are so many examples of poor quality in information technology projects?

Using Synthetic Phonics For Improving Reading Essay
Using Synthetic Phonics for Improving Reading
Synopsis
For this assignment, I will first briefly discuss the value of early reading pre school and the stages of
reading. After that I will critically evaluate the history of introducing synthetic phonics reading in
primary schools in England. Furthermore, I will investigate the developments and issues which have
been brought about the different teaching strategies used in schools and using teaching synthetic
phonics in early years to teach first reading.
Introduction
Learning to read is a valuable and important skill that children acquire from a very early age. Children
gain an understanding of the different sounds in our spoken language from a wide range of different
experiences and social interaction with their environment. For example, singing and saying rhymes,
sharing books, making and listening to music, pretend play, listening to adults and joining in
conversations etc ect. as mentioned by Vygotsky (1978)
Children s learning begins long before they attend school.

Role of Arbitration and Mediation in the Legal System
Part1: Arbitration and mediation In general, arbitration is a more formal method of alternative dispute
resolution than mediation. Arbitrators generally act similar to a judge and make decisions about
evidence and give written opinions, which can be binding or non binding (Mediation versus arbitration
versus litigation, 2008, Find Law). There may be one or more arbiters selected by both sides, or a third
selected by the mutual arbiter. The methods deployed are often very similar to that of a court room. In
contrast, mediation is generally conducted before a single mediator who does not judge the case but
helps facilitate a discussion and eventual resolution of the dispute (Mediation versus arbitration versus
litigation, 2008, Find Law). Mediation has a high success rate, but this may be due to the fact that
parties which select mediation tend to be less polarized. Both forms of ADR can be advantageous,
given that they are less costly and also can keep the anger involved to a minimum. A compromise can
be reached that is mutually advantageous to both sides, and alternative solutions can be found that will
not necessarily be allowed in a more formal jury system. Mediation and arbitration can also be
embarked upon more quickly than a lawsuit, which enables the parties involved to engage in dialogue
before conflicts get out of hand. And in some disputes, such as divorce, there are often many grey
areas, with no clear, single person who is in the wrong or right.

Questions and Answers on the Sedar
1. How does the Seder link the present to the past? The Seder links the present to the past by telling
the story of the Exodus, and remembering the struggle they had to go through before regaining the
Holy Land. Freedom is the primary thing of the Seder. The Seder allow Jews to worship God through
prayer, and learning by taking part in the lesson of Jewish history, and religion. The Seder lets one
symbolically relive the Exodus, where past and present merge ( Bokser,2002, p. 147). Jews have
created script in order to tell the story of the Seder by using the Haggadah. It contains questions,
answers, stories, shows, tells, song, and symbol. 2. Explain the symbolic meaning of all the foods used
in the Seder? Every Seder has numerous ritual foods and other items. Each item has its purpose and
often its specific place on the Seder plate. The roasted lamb called zeroah, which symbolizes the
sacrifice made at the night when ancient Hebrews fled Egypt. The baytsah is a symbol of the
sacrificial offerings which was performed in the days of the Second Temple. Maror is the bitter herbs,
which bring tears to the eyes and recall the bitterness of slavery. Charoset represents the mortar used
by the Hebrew slaves to make bricks. Karpas symbolize the freshness of spring. Salt water symbolizes
the tears and sweat of enslavement. Often a single bowl of salt water sits on the table, which each
person dips their karpas during the Seder. A plate that has a stack of three pieces of

  • 2. Difficulties In The Election Of 1828 In 1828 the election rematch between then President John Quincy Adams placed him against Democratic frontrunner Andrew Jackson. Factions appeared in the long dominant Democratic Republican Party; the National Republican Party and the Republicans in which they both struggled for control. The bitterness and divisiveness of the two factions showed a glimmer of what was to become in the years before 1861. In the South, states like Georgia had difficulties with the Cherokee Nation. These difficulties were not due to tribal violence but rather with the Cherokee occupation of the Northwest Georgia. The Cherokees flourished under the Civilization Program began by President George Washington after signing multiple treaties with the Federal government since 1785. By the time of the election of 1828, the Cherokee Nation had their own constitution, a written language, and capital at New Echota. Some Cherokees also mimicked the cultural styles of their white neighbors such as privately owning slaves used to work cotton farms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The call for the removal of the Cherokees to the Great American Desert across the Mississippi River echoed stronger than in previous years.[1] In October of 1828 in present day Dahlonega, Georgia, active gold mines were discovered near Cherokee land. For many whites, the time to completely remove the Cherokees from the lands came. The newly elected President Andrew Jackson agreed to do so with his signature on the Indian Removal Act. Jackson lived in the backcountry of North and South Carolina for quite a bit of his youth as well as the territory of Tennessee. This paper is focusing on the rise of Andrew Jackson as a war hero to presidency and his Indian policy that led to the heart wrenching expulsion of the Cherokee Indians in the ... • 3. Hypnosis Research Paper The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of hypnosis is usually a magician convincing a person to act like a chicken, however, hypnosis is actually an approach that doctors can use to treat pain, depression, anxiety, phobias, and more. Hypnosis is a state in which a person appears to be under a trance and is extremely concentrated (Brandt). It is not a new concept. In fact, hypnosis has been used by the ancient Egyptians over 2,000 years ago (healing power). In the 1770s, the Austrian physician Franz Anton Mesmer began to study hypnosis scientifically. More recently, it was used during World War I and World War II to treat soldiers who experienced post traumatic stress disorder and other mental disorders (World Book). There are some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can be used to make patients less nervous before a surgery and can comfort them during recovery. It can also be used to combat the side effects of chemotherapy, radiation, or a chronic illness (World Book). Hypnosis can also help the 25% of Americans who avoid and fear the dentist. After a five minute hypnosis session, patients can be relaxed enough to receive novocaine and the treatment they need inexpensively and without medication (healing power). Finally, hypnosis can help burn victims. These people must have their dead skin removed every day for up to a few months. The process is so painful that most patients must be given powerful painkillers that can be addictive and can cause confusion, gastrointestinal problems, and breathing trouble. Hypnosis can relax the patient and can allow them to go through the treatment without experiencing pain. The hypnosis session is inexpensive and does not require addictive medication (healing power). Despite the evidence that supports the fact that hypnosis is a legitimate approach to treating conditions, many graduate schools have little hypnosis training in their psychology programs (Smith). This needs to change so that more people can become trained hypnotists so the approach can become more widespread. As previously stated, it would benefit hospitals financially and patients physically. It is free, can treat a variety of conditions, has no side effects, and is not addictive. Dr. Spiegel believes that it could even be used in place of addictive opiates. More time and money must be put into research on hypnosis and its practice as it could save hospitals and patients money in the long run and could help a variety of patients heal ... • 4. Historical Accuracy of the Film Good Night Good Luck Essay The Movie good night good luck is incredibly historically accurate. The Movie uses authentic clips that show McCarthy and many speeches Murrow used. World War ended in 1945 leaving a broken Europe and a communist block behind. The United States quickly receded back to the red scare that had existed before WWII. The United States quickly set an anti communist stance and prepared for a war against the communists. While the war never came some enterprising individuals placed themselves in powerful positions using the paranoia created. Among these individuals one came forward and began one of the most controversial historical programs. Don Hollenbeck committed suicide because using gas for the exact reasons the movie listed. State Master Encyclopedia states He died from natural gas inhalation... several reasons that it might have been suicide included health problems, a broken marriage, and frequent published attacks by Jack O Brian (State master Encyclopedia). This event was completely and well illustrated in the movie. Joe and Shirley Wershba the married couple were really married which was forbidden through C.B.S. policy. Brooklyn College states, Wershbas had to keep their marriage secret from their employers. (Brooklyn College). The movie even got Edward Murrow s smoking habits right. Ed Murrow smoked huge amounts of cigarettes Shirley Wershba stated in her interview. Murrow was a four pack a day smoker (Brooklyn College). Ellen Winner s Gifted Children In the 1996 book Gifted children: Myths and realities by Ellen Winner, the author of over 100 articles and four books, takes the opposing view in this work to the more current studies regarding producing giftedness through effort, as her study here defends a heavier influence played by brain development. She recognizes three characteristics found in gifted children: precocity, an insistence to marching to the beat of their own drummer, and what she calls a rage to master, or better stated, a driving force to gain mastery over what the gifted student has a special proclivity toward understanding and doing. Winner also illustrates many of the myths that follow the idea of what gifted children should be able to do. Through her research, one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Exercise Physiology Pate and Durstine (2004) define exercise physiology as the study of physical activity and the effect it has on the body, including its tissues and cells, over brief or extended periods of time. Over the years this discipline has made contributions to human health and has lead to athletic success through maximizing human potential. Clinical sports medicine has been greatly impacted by exercise physiology for a number of reasons, but most importantly has made improvements in enhancing athletic performance through methods that facilitate prevention and allow proper treatment for sports related injury, along with testing that can give insight to further the success of athletes. Regular participation in physical activity betters the body s ability to optimize oxygen consumption, making it easier for oxygen to be transported to all areas of the body; this not only improves overall health, but it also results in a less fatigued process when expending energy (Burton et al., 2004). Shaw, B.S. and Shaw, I. were interested in determining whether resistance training would alter the VO2 max levels of individuals, reducing the risks for coronary artery disease (CAD). They studied 28 male subjects who were either matched to a control group exempting exercise or the resistance training group. Through their experimental pre test and post test design, the researchers observed that the pre test and post test VO2 max levels were relatively sedentary for the control group with values of 25.097 ml/kg/min and 23.778 ml/kg/min, but significantly increased for the resistance training group from 26.674 ml/kg/min to 30.981 ml/kg/min. Their research concluded that with increased VO2 max levels found in those participating in resistance training exercises, the risks of CAD were significantly lowered, and as a result suggested that this type of training could be implementing into more training programs to improve the health of individuals (Shaw, B.S. The knight was the warrior for Europe. They kept order in Europe when there was none. Even though samurai and knights have many similarities, in a one on one battle, the advantage would be to the samurai and this can be seen in their armor, training and beliefs. The first way samurais would have an advantage is their armor. In document D written by the DBQ Project it states The helmet bowl was made of 8 12 iron plates. Another piece of evidence that supports my claim is in document D written by the DBQ Project it says Below it was a 5 piece neck guard . • 10. Good Communication Within A Business Environment Abstract Communication is one of the most important skills that people utilize everyday. Mainly people use this to exchange ideas and develop interpersonal relationships. The specific reasons it is key to have good communication within a business environment is that it will assist in the success of a business as well as developing required professional relationships. Research has been conducted into six of the most key communication aspects that effect businesses in the previous sentences. These six are; communication channel, non verbal communication, correct wording, cultural conflicts, personal perception and he quantity of communication. If these aspects are not considered for a reasonable amount of time before the commencement of a day they can have detrimental affects on the business, by business relationships being damaged, or never formed, and without these relationships it will be harder for a business to succeed. Before we can discuss why communication is vital we must define it, it is defined as The imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, writing, or using some other medium. (Oxford, 2015) Communication is key based on this definition not only in business but also just in life. It is also a difficult object to get right, and needs to be planned thoroughly before continuing. (Dewatripont Triole 2005, p. 1217) This supported by many other authors. The question has been posed, Does communication always have a positive effect on a business? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is for these and other reasons that Universal refused to finance this film and decided to only finance the advertising and marketing campaign of Crimson Peak. It is also why del Toro had to pay out of pocket, because he could not accept the studio s request, or rather stipulation, to make the film a PG 13 film. Out of stubbornness Crimson Peak, which is one of del Toro s favorite movies to have made, the director and the entire film felt short. The performances are decent, but since the characters are so idiotically written, the viewer is incapable to feel any sympathy towards them. The reason the mother called the physician was today the child was acting very lethargically and became very irritated whenever she tried to feed or give fluids. The teaching plan can be summarized in three main points: 1) Parents need to understand the importance of rehydrating with an oral rehydration solution (ORS) instead of water alone. 2) Child should be given approximately 6 ounces of ORS for each loose stool or vomiting episode. This ORS should be administered in teaspoons at a slow steady rate if the child is refusing to drink normally, or if vomiting occurs after drinking. 3) Normal age appropriate diet should be offered to the infant, no special considerations are required. Since the infant is currently mildly dehydrated we need to provide 6 ounces of ORS to restore normal hydration in addition to 6 ounces for each additional episode. Since the infant has been refusing to drink this is the perfect opportunity for the mother and father to practice giving ORS using a teaspoon. Family was instructed to provide a teaspoon full of ORS to their child as often as he would accept it over a period of one to two hours until at least 6 ounces have been administered. They were advised that the child may want more fluid as time goes on, so they can increase the rate as tolerated. Salinger s Nine Stories , there are two stories that indicate a death, and, remarkably, these two short stories are what begin and end this captivating piece of literature. The first story is called A Perfect Day for Bananafish and introduces a man who has been through the hell of World War II, which allows him to see things from a different perspective. The latter is called Teddy and revolves around a young, ingenious boy that seems to have a speculative mindset and very deep insight into life. In both stories the reader is introduced to a genius , but the geniuses, with all the potentials at hand, end up going mad and killing themselves. However, this proves to be Salinger s point. It demonstrates a fine line that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Seymour takes his own life, we backtrack to his story and he is then seen as a celestial figure, ahead of his time and full of wisdom. Metaphorically speaking, the bananafish ideology depicts humanity in the postwar boom generation, where riches surround all people. However, amidst all the possessions, we cannot help ourselves and we continuously and relentlessly consume, regardless of what may happen as a result. We are each trapped in our own banana filled hole, in which Seymour ultimately escapes from through his death. In the final short story Teddy , the main character is a ten year old boy who is as intuitive and intelligent as any character gets in this novel, with the exception of Seymour of course. Like Seymour Glass, Teddy sees the world differently than his peers. The two tend to focus their a lot of their attention on small details, such as orange peels, the colour of bathing suits, a woman that seemingly looks at Seymour s feet, and appear to mirror a larger scale vision of humanity. Teddy s orange peels recall Seymour s bananafish. Both their objects, in Seymour s case an imaginary one, are somewhat allegorical in a sense that they seem to suggest a philosophical portrayal of humanity. To clarify, Teddy first notices the orange peels floating and finds them interesting. The remnants of what was once a living fruit, now floating, lifeless on the dark water. Almost everywhere one looks, one can find forms of media; a magazine at a doctor s office, a billboard alongside a freeway, a painting at an art gallery, a performance on television or on stage. Media, undeniably, is ubiquitous. However, in all the innumerous forms media comes to us in, every one of these forms is created for a single purpose; to communicate an idea or message. Thus, it the individual s ability to interpret these forms and decipher their meaning has become critical. But how are students, as well as educators, supposed to interact and interpret media? Hoechsmann Poyntz furthers Buckingham s argument by eloquently writing, Rather than being positioned as victims, a focus on media... addresses the complex ways youths become agents in their life and the lives of others (Hoechsmann Poyntz, 2012, p. 109). Indeed, because the singular purpose of media is to convey an idea or a message to the masses, media must have an audience; which is to say a group who consumes it. Further, because of its omnipresence in US culture, media will certainly almost always have an audience; for anyone who is exposed to media may be considered part of its audience; whether they consciously acknowledge their participation or not. Consequently, through a variety of forms, such as access to television and the internet, children today are exposed to media from a very early age. Assuredly, as Buckingham suggests, starting from a young age of even four or five, children have already started interacting with media (Buckingham, 2004, p. 41 45). Subsequently, children, from a very early age, most certainly, are members of the media s audience. However, the central question presented here is whether children should be forced to remain a passive consumer or be encouraged to become an audience s active participant. Most assuredly, ... • 20. Service Quality Is An Antecedent Of Perceived Value Essay Service quality is an antecedent of perceived value, and it will cause a significant influence on perceived value (Bojanic, 1996; Oh, 1999; Sweeney et al., 1999). Ostrom Iacobucci (1995) found that price, level of quality, friendliness of service personnel, and the degree of customization of the service are important factors to customer value perceptions. Although customer perceived value has long been recognized in marketing research as an important concept in influencing preference, satisfaction, loyalty, and other important outcomes (Cronin et al., 2000), most studies have examined customer value in the context of offline rather than online customer behavior (Overby Lee, 2006). Although customer perceived value in the online shopping environment is of crucial importance, previous studies have neglected that variable (Chang et al., 2005). In an online environment, customers can find alternatives easily; therefore building long term relationships presents a more difficult challenge for E commerce companies (Chang Wang, 2011). Gummerus (2010) investigated the impact of three resource inputs (i.e., service content, service process, and service configurations) on the perceptions of value of a Finnish health care website. The results reveal that the service content of the discussion groups had the strongest relationship with customer value, followed by article content and database content. However, a Canadian launch withholds several decisions. A suitable branding strategy is necessary, wholesale and suggested retail price for coffee pods, choose which flavors to offer, and decide whether Kraft should use traditional distribution channels or direct to store (DSD). However, the Fokker family soon moved back to their native Holland, where Anthony received his early primary and early secondary education. Presumably, it was in these early years that Fokker became intrigued by flight. By the time he was 20 years old, while still in Germany, Anthony designed, developed and built his first aircraft, and then taught himself how to fly it ( Anthony Herman Gerard Fokker, n.d., para. 3). By the outbreak of World War One in July of 1914, Fokker had set up an aircraft manufacturing plant and a flight school. Initially, Germany purchased his M.5 fighter, a mono wing aircraft based on a French Morane Saulnier G design utilizing steel tubing and a new airfoil and tail design. His work has had lots of influence on modern intellectual history and Western philosophy in general. It revolved mainly around art, philology, religion and science. He wrote about morality, tragedy, aesthetics, atheism, epistemology and consciousness. However, some of Nietzsche s most profound elements of his philosophy include his powerful critique of reason and truth. He argued for perspectivism. He critiqued religion and Christian ethics, developed the concept of Ubermensch and the doctrine of eternal return to support it. Also, Friedman Nietzsche came up with his theory of master slave morality and response to the death of God and nihilism. The philosopher s notion of the Apollonian and Dionysian were prominent as well. The paper discusses, in detail, some of Nietzsche s major philosophies such as master and slave morality. It looks further into his view on nihilism; his definition, why he was so much against it and what he thinks should replace it. I shall be the patient On the hospital bed, lying in drugged slum And dreaming of home. I shall be the grandmother Willing away her belongings, those scraps and trinkets More lasting than her bones. Perhaps some womb in that Darker world shall convulse, when I finally enter, A legitimate entrant, marked by discontent. (Gino) The Stone Age, one of the finest poems in this anthology, strongly expresses the note of rebellion against male domination. The wife resents the restraints imposed on her. The husband who is described as an Old fat spider weaves webs of bewilderment around her and confines her within the four walls of domesticity. She painfully complains. You turn me into a bird of stone, a granite Dove, you build round me a shabby drawing room, And stroke my pitted face absent mindedly while you read. She dislikes him as other men haunt her mind. Yet, as day dreams, strong men cast their shadows, they sink Like white suns in the swell of my Dravidian blood. (The Stone Age) In the absence of the husband she knocks at another s door. Given Celgene s perceived self centered actions, Smith would note that this type of free market behavior is positive and is guided by an invisible hand which helps such behavior to be beneficial to society as a whole. The next philosopher to be examined would argue that the invisible hand that Smith speaks of is indeed separate from the political realm. Milton Friedman continues with Smith s line of logic as he asserts that the chief concern of the businessman must be to make a profit under socially acceptable means and that the defining of social responsibilities must be left in the political sphere. • 36. Role of Arbitration and Mediation in the Legal System Part1: Arbitration and mediation In general, arbitration is a more formal method of alternative dispute resolution than mediation. Arbitrators generally act similar to a judge and make decisions about evidence and give written opinions, which can be binding or non binding (Mediation versus arbitration versus litigation, 2008, Find Law). There may be one or more arbiters selected by both sides, or a third selected by the mutual arbiter. The methods deployed are often very similar to that of a court room. In contrast, mediation is generally conducted before a single mediator who does not judge the case but helps facilitate a discussion and eventual resolution of the dispute (Mediation versus arbitration versus litigation, 2008, Find Law). Mediation has a high success rate, but this may be due to the fact that parties which select mediation tend to be less polarized. Both forms of ADR can be advantageous, given that they are less costly and also can keep the anger involved to a minimum. A compromise can be reached that is mutually advantageous to both sides, and alternative solutions can be found that will not necessarily be allowed in a more formal jury system. Mediation and arbitration can also be embarked upon more quickly than a lawsuit, which enables the parties involved to engage in dialogue before conflicts get out of hand. And in some disputes, such as divorce, there are often many grey areas, with no clear, single person who is in the wrong or right. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
