The Effects Of Aggression On The Human Brain
Aggression in animals has been studied using electrophysiology and behavioral tests. has been
traditionally stimulated on the surface of the mouse brain, but this process is Recently, optigenetic
techniques have given us a deeper understanding of the genetics which underlies the aggression. now
aided by a more genetic understanding of cell receptor Esr1 s role. The mouse hypothalamus has been
identified as a key player in aggression, and a receptor Esr1(WRITE OUT IN FULL) acts as a switch
to control aggression. In this paper, Here we review these new developments and their impact on the
study of aggression in the mouse brain. In addition, we discuss their potential applications to the
human brain.
Introduction Violence is one of humanity s oldest problems, but the neural pathways that underlie
violence are not well understood. Aggression stems from evolutionary roots, ranging from simplistic
behaviors such as defending offspring to potentially more complicated human mental disorders. The
study of aggression should improve not only our understanding of the properly functioning mind, but
also characterize poorly understood mental disorders.1
Laboratory experiments have been run on mice to identify cells that mediate aggression, but these
areas were difficult to find due to their small size.1 After discovering these areas, researchers are
beginning to study the underlying genetic pathway of aggression. Increasingly genetic approaches
combined with refined traditional

Social Media Has Become A Political Outlet For Civilians...
With the advancing globalized society that we live in, social media has become a political outlet for
civilians of the interconnected world. Through this technological circuit, citizens are able to speak
freely about the issues that concern them, giving them the ability to connect with others who share the
same perspective. Looking through a development perspective, it is evident that social media outlets,
for example twitter, have lead to major political uproar, such as the Arab Uprisings of 2011, or as
popularized by the Western media, The Arab Spring . At this time, the demands of the protestors in the
Arab region indicated their desire for greater social and economic justice and were made as a response
to the growing concern regarding the Egyptian economy s tie into the capitalist world market (Haynes,
2013). The Arab Spring was not solely a revolt against authoritarian regimes but also expressions of a
crisis caused by the imbalanced social order brought upon by neoliberal policies (Bogaert, 2013).
During this time, citizenry relied heavily on social media to spread information and promote insurgent
agendas. Globalization and the technological facets of our hegemonic society have allowed for regular
civilians to become part of the political system as exemplified through the use of social media during
the Arab Spring.

Early American Feudalism
We may never know when the first people step foot on the United States. In North America the first
human life and can be divided into three significant periods: The Paleo Indian era, the Archaic period
and the pre Columbian era. The belief for a long time is that the first people to arrive in the new world
did not come fame, fortune or even freedom. They came because they were hungry. The Paleo Indians
developed many languages, have many belief systems and made spears from stone and set up kill
zones to hunt large heard of animals. Some of the others began to sustain the agriculture. In the
Archaic era, there was a change in how the people lived because agriculture became the way of life for
the Native Americans. The began to cultivate corn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the decline, some nations were becoming more powerful. There are four particular causes of this
decline. The first is an economic change where there began an expanded trade system. Several trading
posts earned riches, and they also set up long distance trade routes. Adam Smith and some of the
Merchants did start the theory called mercantilism. Mercantilism means that the profits that were
made from the business are based on the volume of its trade. The second was religious because the
Europeans arrived looking for riches from the new world and the quest for wealth and power. In the
midst of their search, they were also extorting the expensive items from the Catholic Church which
begins the start of the crusades on the lands that was controlled by the Muslims. The third and the
most significant was the biological or The Black Death. The Black Death is most commonly known as
the bubonic plague which spread quickly did actually contributed a great deal to the feudalism in that
era (Schultz, 2013). The bubonic plague had a large impact on the on the death of the Europeans
which killed at least one third of their population. The plague did not care who you were; it attacked
the old, the young, the weak, the rich and wealthy, and even the powerful. The more serfs or farmers
who died from the disease, the more the living was susceptible to the illness which allowed the ones in
charge to give them more freedom. The Hundred Years Wars had begun because of political moves

The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In Schools
When it comes to cultural diversity in schools, a lot of issues have the potential to come up. Currently,
I feel that I am somewhat competent of the cultural diversity that exists in the world, but I have a lot
more to learn. Some important things to consider when working with diverse populations are the
morals and values that specific cultures hold and how they differ from what I know and live by.
Becoming more aware of other cultures will help me be able to work with everyone no matter what
culture they identify with. One thing that I think students will benefit from in schools is having a
group to identify with whether is may be a culturally diverse group of people from many different
places or a group solely for a specific culture. With these groups, we can help educate all students in
the school to help them become more aware of their peers and help create a healthier and more
accepting environment.
Section 2: Personal Application of Theory: Learning about all of the different theories that contribute
to the field of counseling has not only taught me a lot about the profession, but it has taught me a lot
about myself personally. I strongly feel that I have learned so much about myself that I never knew
before through learning about theories and potential interventions to use with my future students.
Reflecting back upon the content, I have found that the theories that I identify with the most are ones
that I think would benefit me the most or that I know have

Designing A Business Strategy For Business
Customizing Complex Buying Processes
Buyers with house accounts are easier to shepherd through complex buying processes such as
purchase order systems, gaining multiple approvals for business buys, authorizing multiple account
users and developing long term relationships and business partnerships. Many B2B companies are
moving toward using their platforms as marketplaces for multiple vendors, manufacturers and B2B
sales companies. Offering house credit is a good first step for positioning a B2B company at the top of
the chain for this forward thinking business strategy. When companies share financial interests,. it s
easier to work together from shared marketing platforms.
3. Fulfillment Convenience Applications
Customers enjoy faster processing of their orders when they ve been qualified for an account because
no immediate payment arrangements are necessary. B2B companies have all the information they
need to ship immediately, and customers with accounts generally provide more complete information
about their companies, buying habits and financial strengths so that eCommerce platforms can
segregate them with the high degrees of accuracy. When salespeople know a company s limits, they
can better target their sales efforts.
Gartner predicts that personalization on B2B ecommerce sites will enable companies to outsell their
competitors by 30 percent by 2018, and offering customers purchasing accounts delivers the kind of
personal service and easier ordering that ensure

Haggai, Zechariah, And Malachi
While there is some speculation in regards to the authorship of Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi, the
general scholarly consensus is that all three share titular authors. Haggai and Zechariah were
contemporaries; however, while Haggai s messages were only in a short period in 520 b.c., Zechariah
s ministry stretched from 520 b.c., until after 480 b.c. Malachi was likely a contemporary of
Nehemiah, and it is likely that his book was written in 433 b.c., right after Nehemiah returned from
Persia. (NIV Study Bible)
Haggai is divided into four different messages: He begins with a call to rebuild the temple, explaining
how the people s refusal to rebuild the Lord s house has brought curses upon them. He then
encourages the people in his second message, instructing the people ... Show more content on

His third message largely addresses the principles of being unclean. Haggai s final message speaks to
Zerubbabel of the eventual defeat of the Gentile kingdoms that have opposed Israel for so long. It is in
this message that he reveals that Zerubbabel is chosen of the Lord. Zechariah is also divided into four
sections. It begins with a call to repentance, then later describes eight separate visions Zechariah has
in the same night. The second section ends with an oracle about Joshua. The third message of
Zechariah rebukes the people for how they have turned away from God. It explains how the Israelites
have ignored God in their rituals and placed more importance in the rituals themselves than God. The
final area of Zechariah is about two oracles. One concerns the coming and subsequent rejection of
Christ, then the second coming and reception of

Cleary Death Penalty
Death to the Death Penalty Contrary to popular belief, the death penalty s approval ratings have
decreased throughout the years, as a study executed by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg explains how
only three states administer the death penalty these days. Capital punishment has worked for a few
years to scare those who desire to commit a federal crime, but because the usage continually
diminishes (despite in a few states), why would the government keep the death penalty if it costs them
millions per year? Cleary, the best option remains: to eliminate this form of punishment once and for
all. Carlos Moreno, a Supreme Court justice in the state of California explains how the process of

States like New York and New Jersey repealed capital punishment after their citizens spent over $170
million on cases where no executions were made, according to a study done by Richard Dieter. The
money could have been spent elsewhere, like making public education environments more
comfortable or buying more supplies for public service jobs, like the police force and the firefighters.
Even Pope John Paul II believes that capital punishment must be eradicated from societies, as he
stated how an end to the death penalty proves as an essential part of a culture of life. With his millions
of followers, he gained support over the years to eliminate the form of punishment. Punishment which
leads to the murder of a human being.
On the other hand, a copious amount of religions and people reckon that the death penalty proves as a
just form of punishment. In Christianity, people died for crimes, like coming out as a homosexual,
having sexual relations before marriage, and worshiping other gods. Considering these sins, which
they did, and living by the saying, An eye for an eye drove them to believe that the sinners must be put
to death. While these quotes have truth to them, murdering a human, even if one figures another
deserves it, is never the answer to

Malcolm Browne s Film, The Burning Monk
The Burning Monk. 11 June 1963
This photograph of Buddhist monk, Thich Quang Duc, was taken on June 11,1963, by photographer
Malcolm Browne.
The historical context of the photograph is that following the Geneva Conference in 1954; the
Republic of South Vietnam was set up in 1955, by the oppressive and corrupt, Ngo Dinh Diem. He
was supported by the United States, as he was anti communist. He was a catholic and he discriminated
against the Buddhists who made up approximately 90% of the population.
On May 8, 1963, South Vietnamese soldiers killed nine civilians, who were protesting the ban of the
Buddhist flag. Diem refused to respond to Buddhist leaders demands to end religious oppression.
Buddhists then organised demonstrations, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diem, however, refused to meet with Buddhist leaders, and did not stop his persecution of the
Buddhists. By August 1963, his troops had arrested and imprisoned more than 1000 Buddhists.
The photograph of The Burning Monk shocked the world, and brought the realities of the oppression
of Buddhists into the spotlight. President John F. Kennedy said: no news picture in history has
generated so much emotion around the world as this one. He then ordered a review of his
administration s Vietnam policy. The international community was outraged by the lack of religious
freedom and oppression of the peaceful Buddhists. This photograph marked a turning point in the
Vietnam War as the Americans no longer supported Diem.
The photograph is a primary source and is consistent with other photographs of self immolation in
South Vietnam, at that time. A limitation is that it depicts one specific moment, and does not give an
overview of the whole period. The photograph is limited to the oppressed Buddhists point of view.
This photograph is of value as it captured an important moment in history, which had many
consequences. The image was able to convey the message that the Buddhist monk was trying to
achieve, namely to request religious equality and an end oppression, through his

A Short Note On The De Los Datos
recopilada.

The Sneetches Analysis
When we think of prejudice, we often think of racism. However, racism and prejudice are not
interchangeable terms. Through the phrase power plus prejudice, we have learned that racism, for
example, can only be achieved with power. One can only be racist towards someone else if he or she
has the power to do so. Meaning, is this person white or black? If they re white, they have power ergo
can be racist. Throughout both Mixed Blood Stew by Jewell Parker Rhodes and the story The
Sneetches by Dr. Seuss, the concept of power plus prejudice is portrayed. The story of The Sneetches
offers an accurate portrayal of society today. In the story, we are told that there are creatures living on
an island called sneetches. Some are born with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Dr. Seuss uses strong words throughout the story, we can assume that the sneetches were either
privileged or not privileged and that there were truly only two options within their society. However,
at the end, when he uses positive word choice, we can assume that the sneetches living as a whole
society was the correct choice from the start. In the story Mixed Blood Stew, we are given examples
of miscegenation and how members of society with mixed race backgrounds are victims of prejudice.
Similarly to the sneetches without stars on their stomachs, mixed race members of society are often
looked at as lesser and not worthy of our time. However, we now understand that no matter what
background someone might have, we should always give them a chance without judgement. In Mixed
Blood Stew, many cultural references are made elaborating on this point. The one that sticks out to me
the most is the reference to Lucy, the oldest fossil found that shows human characteristics. The author
writes, Wasn t Lucy their mother too? (Rhodes) This reference is meant to enforce the message that all
humans come from similar fossils and should be considered equal. The entirety of Mixed Blood Stew
highlights the importance of recognizing that all humans are equal regardless of racial background. In
both stories, there is a similar issue present. Generally speaking, this issue is targeting a

Attack On Fort Sumter
The Attack on Fort Sumter took place on an island located in South Carolina on April 12, 1861.
Following President Abraham Lincoln s presidential election in November 1860, many threats were
brought to Federal troops guarding forts in the South during the secession crisis. The main purpose of
this battle was to guard Charleston Harbor. But the bombarding of the fort was the climax of a conflict
in which a small militia of Union troops in South Carolina found themselves isolated when the state
seceded from the Union. The Attack on Fort Sumter lasted less than two days and did not have much
significance other than the battle symbolizing both the North and South tremendously with no turning
back. The leaders that led this battle of the North was commander Major Robert Anderson and

Leading to the American Civil War, the Attack of Fort Sumter was an important event which was the
first battle to be fought. The situation taking place in Fort Sumter had become greatly tense as
conflicts rose. It began as South Carolina seceded from the Union and became nonexistent with the
forming of the Confederacy. The Southern Confederate leader, General P.T. Beauregard decided that
he would begin constructing his forces in the army around Fort Sumter located in Charleston Harbor.
The Union leader of the North, Major Anderson chose to move his men from Fort Moultrie towards a
much stronger fort. In doing so, he had asked the War Department for reinforcements and planned to
move his men to Fort Sumter near the harbor s entrance where the South were already there guarding
it with their forces. Unfortunately, as Anderson and his men approached Fort Sumter, they were
surrounded by the Confederate Army, and began to run out of food and supplies. The Confederates

Analysis Of Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Battle Of...
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born on March 6, 1806, at Coxhoe Hall, Durham, England, daughter
Mary Graham and Edward Moulton Barrett. They made their wealth from a Jamaican sugar plantation.
Elizabeth was the oldest of eleven siblings. She was educated at home which leads her to write at a
very young age. By the age of fourteen her very first book was published, The Battle of Marathon,
which her father released privately. Browning had many of her works published but in eighteen forty
four her collection titled Poems was published. These poems caught the attention of English poet
Robert Browning. Robert wrote to Elizabeth a letter, they both exchanged numerous letters over the
following months, this lead to their elopement in eighteen forty six. On eighteen fifty, she released
Sonnets from the Portuguese, it is a collection of forty four love sonnets that became one of the
greatest sequences of sonnets in history. The collection was dedicated to her loving husband and was
also written in secret during their courtship. Aurora Leigh was published in eighteen fifty six, this was
her longest work, this was a blank verse novel and poem. Elizabeth Barrett Browning died on June

Robert Browning s Porphyria s Lover
Many teenagers and even adults often struggle with the thought of being single. Some people would
rather be in an abusive non healthy relationship than in a healthy relationship so that they do not have
to be alone. Nowadays, relationships are put on such a pedestal that most young girls and even boys
think they are obligated to be in a relationship in order to fit in. Furthermore, many relationships lead
to abusive or obsessive relationships that can often lead to traumatic injuries and even death. For
instance, the poet, Robert Browning relates how an obsessive relationship can change someone s life
in a blink of an eye. Through the use of personification, imagery and character, Browning s poem
Porphyria s Lover proves that love can make anyone deranged.
First, Browning uses personification to demonstrate the idea that love can make someone disturbed,
for example, The sullen wind was soon awake, (Line 2). As the character in this poem sits in his dark
cottage pinning over his lover, he labels the wind as being sullen and awake as if the weather is
intentionally being unpleasant. In reality, the speaker is just so insane that he assumes the weather is
out to get him and is being irksome on purpose. Another example is, It tore the elm tops down for
spite, (Line 3). The writer uses the word spite to describe his feelings because the wind does not feel
spite during a storm. Once again, the character is so obsessed over Porphyria that he has gone crazy.
Therefore,

Grass Root Innovation Essay
This research aims at bridging important gaps in the way one conceptualizes the evolution of
innovations in the informal sector, by means of formally untrained minds, that have the potential for
Grass Root Innovations (GRIs). It also addresses important gaps in meeting needs of disadvantaged
communities, which formal systems like Science and Technology (S T) have not been able to address
so far, in a manner that is cost effective and affordable. While GRIs cannot provide solutions to all
problems, they can indeed provide solutions for some of them. The conceptual basis, or the heuristics,
underlying these innovations, can sometimes extend the frontiers of science, or improve efficiency in
larger mainstream technological systems, in addition to meeting the local needs. But, incentives for
developing technologies, which will have limited diffusion because of socio ecological conditions, are
difficult to institutionalize. The result being that such niches remain unserved. However, if difficult
regions, with poor market and bureaucratic infrastructure, have to remain outside developmental
impulses, then social harmony is unlikely to be maintained. In this case, it would be difficult to attain
sustainability. Effective inclusion of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

experience for me. Various things I have learned in this four month period such as education system in
the USA, learning and teaching culture in GVSU, last but not least United States health care system.
Before enrolling for this course, I thought I would assimilate what makes USA healthcare system one
of the best in the world. To my surprise, I learn more about why it is struggling in some aspects and
how can we improve. Both India and USA attempting to fortify their health care system and
approaching towards universal health coverage plan. Working as a medical professional back in my
country permitted me to comprehend this entire semester by comparing healthcare back in my country
and the USA. The thing which excites me more is to see the other side of the health sector, functioning
as a dental practitioner never gave me such an open door in past. Learning this course really matters
because things are working outside the doctor s cabin are really very intricate and to run a healthcare
setup effectively is extremely challenging and need an extensive knowledge and skills and everybody
need to perform their respective roles. Albeit everything is new for me initially however the thing
which I felt new is the way to manage this diverse class by forming a group on first day whose each
member is different than other, by perfectly united them as per their reasoning

Hypothesis For Abusive Relationships Essay
There are many different hypotheses that are being tested during this study. The first hypothesis is that
people who come from families with a history of domestic violence tend to be involved in an abusive
relationship themselves more often than people who came from normal families. The second
hypothesis is that people with more social support are less likely to be involved in abusive
relationships than people with less social support. The third hypothesis is that people with lower
socioeconomic status are more likely to be involved in abusive relationships than people with a higher
socioeconomic status. The fourth hypothesis is that people who are involve in an abusive relationship

How Canada Remained Independent of Foreign Control but...
How successful Canada was on remaining independent of foreign control, whilst being a part of
international decision making.
Canada remained independent of foreign control a majority of the time, but at others it did give in to
the pressure put upon it. Canada also got to be a big part of the decision making because it put itself
out there, got recognized as a middle power and proved its worth.
Some of the ways Canada remained independent of foreign control are: When president Reagan s
administration had a project they were trying to get Canada involved in called the Strategic Defence
Initiative (SDI, but also referred to as Star Wars). This was a plan to arm satellites that could destroy
soviet missiles from space. Not many people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When NORAD was put in place during 1985 many Canadians were angered because they felt it
threatened Canadian independence and since the soviet missiles would be intercepted and destroyed

Canada has maintained its commitment to NORAD. Canada and Americas economies are very alike,
to this day.
In 1945 when the UN was officially founded, Canada argues to be made a middle power, meaning
they would get recognition for being capable of holding their own, and the contribution they made
during World War II. Canada is very well known for their participation in every UN peacekeeping
operation. Lester B. Pearson even won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1957. When Egypt nationalized the
Suez Canal, Britain, France and Israel made a secret pact to invade Egypt. Israel attacked Egypt while
Britain and France took over the Canal. The situation grew tense when many countries denounced the
invasion. Lester B. Pearson proposed to the UN that Britain, France and Israel withdraw their troops
and the UN send a peacekeeping army into Egypt. His proposal was accepted. Canada also adapted a
new flag, which in a way was to show they had completely detached themselves from Britain. In 1949
Canada had signed the NATO treaty. That was the first time Canada had signed a military

The Influence Of Playing Soccer
When I was 7 years old I started playing soccer. I played soccer for 3 years before finishing up and
retiring the sport. During this time I learn a lot, and gained a lot of confidence for sports in the future.
During the time I played soccer there were many factors affecting my participation of the sport.
Soccer being a very popular sport played all over the world, where countries from England to Portugal
and having our own New Zealand team all enter the world cup every four years. In 2006 when I was 7
the current Fifa world cup had taken place and covered by media on channels like prime and sky

The accessibility of the sport was and is very high. There were many local clubs such as Napier City
Rovers (club I played for), Port Hill, Marist and more. Almost every school in the area also had one or
mores school soccer team you could join and play for. So this meant accessibility of the sport was very
high and easy. Early participation of the sport was influenced by school and was easiest to get
involved in and learn if you like and enjoy the sport or not. My friends from school where a big
influence of me playing the sport as I would play the sport with them and then we continued playing
the sport after the first season. My best friend at the time, Blake was a big influence on me moving
from playing for the school to joining the Napier City Rovers soccer club that he played for. Another
influence that affect my participation of joining club soccer was that the sports grounds (Park Island)
that the games and tournaments were held every weekend was a short ten minute drive from taradale,
where we lived at the time. After playing for the club one session I had made more friends on the team

Analysis Of Johnny Depp, By Edward Scissorhands
Johnny Depp, is one of the most talented physical actors of this age. His unique and often wacky
movements make each of his characters stand out. Most famous for his role as the ridiculous pirate
captain Jack Sparrow, form Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp is also widely known for a number of other
interesting characters in a number of other interesting shows, one of his earliest being Edward
Scissorhands, in Edward Scissorhands (1990). The expansion of Depp s use of physical movement is
tremendous between Edward Scissor hands ad Pirates of the Caribbean. And though they both differ
tremendously in personality and physicality, they still maintain the wacky persona that is so
characteristic of Johnny Depp. First let us analyze whether or not Depp centers each character. And
the answer is that he centers both, but each differently. Edward Scissorhands is very centered, but
definitely not comfortably centered. Although he stands erect, he stands with his head pulled back and
his back very stiff, and his adds to the bizarreness of his strange character. Who stands like that? No
one. It is interesting how just a little abnormality in posture can bring out abnormality in the entire
character. Additionally, the way that Depp centers Edward Scissorhands, with his head constantly
either pull back too far jutted forward in moments of interest add to the emotions of curiosity and
apprehension that are so strong in this character. Depp s second character, the famous Jack Sparrow, is

Dichotomy In Paradise Lost And Murder Mysteries
The common dichotomy of good versus evil is as old as the story of the world, and is timeless in its
relevance to almost everything we do in life. This simple concept is seen in many places throughout
our society including pieces of literature. After reading Paradise Lost and Murder Mysteries, it is clear
that Milton and Gaiman portray this dichotomy through Satan and God, however, they do so in two
very different ways. In Paradise Lost, John Milton uses detailed language and imagery to develop a
kind, powerful God, and a Satan that is an equal adversary of God. In Murder Mysteries, Neil Gaiman
also uses specific language and imagery, however, he creates the opposite: a monstrous God, and a
gentle Satan. The characters of Satan and God in Paradise Lost and Murder Mysteries participate in a
role reversal, causing confusion among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As readers, we see the use of Satan s diabolic pow r for evil actions (Milton IX 95). This omnipresent
demonic power creates the perception that Satan is abusing his power and using it for the wrong
purpose. Milton describes Satan as a very powerful character in order to show that he is a worth
opponent of God. Milton s description of Satan gives the reader the perception that Satan is very
powerful and controlling. In Gaiman s Murder Mysteries, the complete opposite viewpoint is
portrayed. After the angel Carasel is found dead, Lucifer appears in Raguel s cell and asks him to find
who was responsible for this... and take the vengeance... on whosoever caused this (Gaiman 300). In
this scene, Lucifer gives Raguel power and control over the situation, which is unlike Milton s Satan.
Lucifer also tells Raguel to take vengeance on the culprit, however in Paradise Lost, that is an action
that Satan would do himself. The conflicting perceptions of Satan throughout Paradise Lost and
Murder Mysteries are also seen in the character of

The Trans Canada highway was an important achievement for Canada and Louis St. Laurent s prime
minister career that was hugely beneficial for Canada due to its impact on the economy and the
convenience that was contributed by this amazing construction.
In order to build the Trans Canada highway, Newfoundland s decision to join Canada as one of the
marine provinces can be viewed as extremely meaningful. Newfoundland became part of Canada on
April 1st, 1949, and the following will be Louis St. Laurent s speech addressing on the entry of
Newfoundland into Confederation, representing Canada and on the behalf of the other nine provinces:
Newfoundland is in the very centre of the North Atlantic Community. Canada as a whole occupies a
large part of the North Atlantic area. The nations of that whole area will be more secure in the new
North Atlantic association. In the same way, Canada and Newfoundland will have greater security in
being bound together in federal union. From today all Canadians, old and new, will work as one to
preserve peace and to win security. And in a world where free people can work in security and peace,
the opportunities for the enlarged Canada, with its ten provinces, are immense. But while there is yet
room for improvement, there is no country in the world where that improvement is more possible, or
indeed, more certain. The wealth of Canada is

Development in Charter Schools Essay
In 1988, Ray Budde (A University of Massachusetts Amherst Professor) felt that something needed to
be done to improve the public education system in the United States. Falling test scores and rising
dropout rates provoked a movement for reform. Ray Budde pointed out many restrictions set by state
governments that inhibited the potential of many students and how these restrictions were damaging
the educational system rather than maintaining it. He proposed a plan that would eliminate these
restrictions and create a system where students would excel. This idea took hold when the American
Federation of Teachers adopted the idea and set up the first Charter Schools in Minnesota in 1991.

Although very risky, starting a charter school has its advantages too. A study performed by Phi Delta
Kappa International focuses on the differences between charter schools and public schools. This study
gives a comprehensive interpretation of the advantages charter schools have over public schools. The
study mainly focuses on the management aspect of the charter schools and shows how principals of
charter schools use their power to put their schools ahead of public schools. A former public school
principle interviewed eight charter school principals on how they hired teachers. The interviews
suggested that charters schools are serving as exciting seedbeds for new approaches to finding,
employing, and keeping better teachers. ( Finn) Interestingly enough some principals would be willing
to hire non state certified teachers to meet their standards of quality. These principals were looking for

liked kids. (Finn) Although they would be taking a risk hiring someone without the standard teaching
qualifications set by the state, they knew that with their intelligence and prestige, they would strive to
educate the children as they would themselves. The charter school system gives the principal the
power to hire teachers which enables them to select the teachers that match the needs and culture of

since Christ has come to earth and made known His rightful position, only those who chose to submit
to Him will be obedient (John 15:1 8). Yet, when He returns for the final time in His glory, at that

The First Ten Days Of College Essay
The first ten days of college are some other experience. When I arrived on campus for the Eagle
Incentive Program it was in the high nighties with some humidity. Moving in wasn t that bad, it was
just extremely hot. I was breaking a sweat walking up and down the Southern Pines stairs. The next
day was time to say goodbye to my family. After giving my mom a big warm hug and a kiss goodbye,
seeing them leave was a weird feeling. As I walked up the stairs to head back in my room the feeling
really crossed my mind that I wasn t going to see her again for another five weeks. It was an emotional
few seconds saying goodbye, but I knew my mom was proud of my accomplishments that I achieved.
Motived to work hard and make her even more of a proud mother; my sad emotions soon turned into
happy thoughts.

tail. Back at home, I could spend money here and there because I had a job and was getting paid
weekly. Unemployed now because of moving to Statesboro, I only get 35$ put on my debit card a

Over the years, America has been involved in numerous conflicts. One of the most controversial has
been the Vietnam War. Even though the United States Military failed in its efforts in the war against
Vietnam, the military has learned valuable lessons about our forces during the conflict. Anti Aircraft
weapons were used during the Vietnam War, and their capabilities have increased over time to become
what is now called Air Defense. Air Defense s equipment, units, and personnel played a critical role
especially during the ambush on Route 9 of the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War took place November

Physical Therapy For Becoming A Physical Therapist
Physical therapy is a passion for helping disabled people able to move parts of their body again. One
would need physical therapy if they hurt their joints or spine. One must want to pursue a career in

physical therapist then don t become one, because they will be around people all the time. Physical
therapist will have patients that didn t want a physical therapist, but was required by the hospital. With
physical therapy one is committed to helping others. One would have to want to work with others and
want to help them. One needs to be helped if they hurt their arms from like crashes or sports injuries.
They probably were recommended by a doctor to go to that therapist. Their injuries were probably
required by their doctor because they didn t know if they were going to be able to move it again.
Physical therapy would be good for one if one is a people person.
If one is doing physical therapy they will need the right education. One will need an undergraduate

or more years to become a physical therapist. One will have to get a license to be a physical therapist

The Anglo Saxon And The Epic Hero
The Anglo Saxon time period was an era full of storytelling and lyrical poems. Storytellers developed
an oral tradition during this period as they memorized, adapted, and passed along stories and songs.
Many of the Anglo Saxon stories were epics, which are long poems that tell a story of a heroic deed or
a legendary event from the past. These epics invariably included an epic hero, or a larger than life
figure that presented their courage, virtue, and skill against an evil or opposing figure. In addition to
the epic hero, the Anglo Saxon s incorporated their values into the epics. By incorporating these into
the songs, they were able to teach not only their values, but also life lessons to the audience.
A prominent Anglo Saxon epic is the song, Beowulf. In the song, protagonist, Beowulf battles the
following three evil forces: Grendel, Grendel s mother, and a dragon. In all three of these battles,
Beowulf manifests many of the values of the Anglo Saxon s such as loyalty, bravery, and strength. The
Seafarer is an Old English poem giving a first person account of a man alone on the sea. The poem
consists of 124 lines, followed by the single word Amen and is recorded only in the Exeter Book, one
of the four surviving manuscripts of Old English poetry. It has most often been categorised as an
elegy, a poetic genre common in Old English. After the battle with the dragon, when Beowulf gave his

The Problem Of Addiction Among Teenage Addiction
Eight grade, a time of merely adolescence. It has been recorded that by 8th grade 28% of adolescents
have consumed alcohol, 15% have smoked cigarettes, and 16.5% have used marijuana. A drug can be
defined as a something which alters your mind or body that is not food something all of these
substances have in common. As the years go by there has been a massive increase in underage
consumption of illegal substances. These substances which young people are using are known for
being very addictive, and being taken so young addiction is much more likely to occur, possibly
having more severe consequences. Throughout history, a plethora of cultures have contributed to this
problem of addiction which can be seen within their historical roots. The collective perception that
serious drugs could cure almost anything when used for medicinal purposes, was a major ignition to
the overall issue. As more and more countries began to desire these various drugs as they became
more available, the use of drugs spread rapidly through what is known today as the global drug trade.
Through expansion of familiar substances known as coffee, and opium during the earlier centuries, the
concept of addiction has evolved into what our society has become today. Use of drugs or illegal

Hasanie is arguing that Dynergie is not a competitor of Kaufel.
He is also arguing that he asked his direct superior if he could take this opportunity, and he agreed.
However, the direct supervisor is denying. There is not writing evidence of this authorization.
The last argument of Hasanie is that he was a victim of constructive dismissal. Basically a
constructive dismissal happens when an employer changes your working environment, inviting you to
leave. However, Kaufel argues that they offered opportunities for growth within the group and that
Hasanie was only waiting for his package. Finally they are arguing that they needed more time to
reorganize the group and assign responsibilities.
The judges conclude that Hasanie did not establish his case of having been dismissed without cause,
or having been constructively dismissed.

Susan B. Anthony As A Teacher Or Writer
Susan B. Anthony once said, I declare to you that woman must not depend upon the protection of man,
but must be taught to protect herself, and there I take my stand. Leader, dreamer, and believer are three
words that could easily be connected with Anthony. She consistently pursued and believed that her
dream of equality would someday come true, and led others away from a conflicting and unjust
society. Most people know Susan B. Anthony as a teacher or writer, but she has done so much more
than that. Considering her many contributions to women s rights, readers can conclude that Susan B.
Anthony devoted her life to numerous associations as well as other movements. She depicted an
impact and change in her legacy as an American civil rights hero.
Born in Adams, Massachusetts, Susan Brownell Anthony became the second of eight children on
February 15, 1820 (history.com). Growing up, Susan B. Anthony learned that women were
discouraged from voicing their views (Lifer 299). Anthony developed a sense of independence as well
as moral zeal starting at an early age, which helped her realize the need for equal rights granted to
women (Encyclopedia Americana 39). In her earlier life, reformers would gather in the family home
near Rochester, New York, and this influenced her views on social betterment in America
(Encyclopedia Americana 39). Anthony had excellent education at a time when most men were against
women learning, and she began a career as a teacher (Cooper 12). As a teacher

Roy Lichtenstein Whaam !
Whaam! Is a 1963 painting created by the American artist Roy Lichtenstein, which is one of the most
powerful monuments of the 1960 s pop art. Throughout the 60 s Lichtenstein drew on commercial art
like comic images and advertisements. Whaam! Has been in the Tate collection since 1966 and has
been one of the most well known modern masterpieces in Britain. The painting depicts a picture of
violence. An American fighter unleashing a round of fire that blows up an enemy plane. This painting
was greatly influenced by DC comic All American Men of war, drawn by Irv Novick in 1962.
Whaam! Is a very large painting, measuring 5 ft. 7 in x 13 ft. 4 in. With the use of vibrant colors and
expressive narrative, Lichtenstein made realistic paintings of an ... Show more content on

Roy Lichtenstein used bright and vibrant colors such as the yellow and red with black outlines in a
cartoon like style. Thick black outlines were very popular within pop art. Lichtenstein used acrylic and
oil paint on both canvases when creating Whaam!. The background, however, is changed to a blue
gray that compliments the remaining colors. The two panels are spatially and temporally linked. The
left panel shows the attacking plane and in the right panel, you see the exploding plane, which is
outlined by flames, accompanied by the bold word WHAAM! even though both canvases are separate
you can still see the left panel containing the missile launch and on the other side you see the
explosion, indicating two distinct events. Lichtenstein made the exploding plane more prominent
compared to the attacking plane, emphasizing the flames. The plane on the left is dramatically angled
making aggressive lines intensify the sense of motion and make the painting more captivating.
Whaam! is a subtle yet high level painting. I really liked this artwork because of Lichtensteins use of
color and comic like style. Roy Lichtenstein used a lot of realism within his paintings, everyday
imagery, and a heavy amount of irony. With the United States heading to war, pop artist liked to use
current events and shed light on them by using everyday consumer products and packaging. I would
display this artwork in my house.

The Fruit Fly By Drosophila Melanogaster
Drosophila melanogaster, often referred to as the fruit fly, is an interesting and dynamic insect that
provides humanity with important information in the study of genetics. The biological community is
extremely devoted to acquiring more information about the genetic process in order to improve the
health and existence of humans. The fruit fly may seem like an insignificant specimen; however, it has
a surprising number of parallels to the human genome. Humans have 46 chromosomes in which 23 are
gametes involved in the reproduction process. Although, the fruit fly has only 4 chromosomes they
behave very similarly to humans. This insight has led to new research and development that is
continuously explored by scientists all over the globe. The fruit fly has an optimal life cycle which
makes it convenient and efficient when studying its genetic information. A fruit fly incurs a life cycle
that last approximately one and a half to two weeks. Its life cycle manifests in four phases
respectively: egg, larva, pupal, and adult stage. Due to the short amount of time it takes a fruit fly to
be reproduced and developed, a plethora of information can be learned in a very short period of time
(Lewis 1998). Other benefits of using fruit flies are due to: low cost, production in large numbers, and
easy production (Lewis 1998). In laboratory, a dihybrid cross was performed in order to determine the
traits exhibited by the F2 generation. Fruit flies have a few physical

  • 2. The Effects Of Aggression On The Human Brain Aggression in animals has been studied using electrophysiology and behavioral tests. has been traditionally stimulated on the surface of the mouse brain, but this process is Recently, optigenetic techniques have given us a deeper understanding of the genetics which underlies the aggression. now aided by a more genetic understanding of cell receptor Esr1 s role. The mouse hypothalamus has been identified as a key player in aggression, and a receptor Esr1(WRITE OUT IN FULL) acts as a switch to control aggression. In this paper, Here we review these new developments and their impact on the study of aggression in the mouse brain. In addition, we discuss their potential applications to the human brain. Introduction Violence is one of humanity s oldest problems, but the neural pathways that underlie violence are not well understood. Aggression stems from evolutionary roots, ranging from simplistic behaviors such as defending offspring to potentially more complicated human mental disorders. The study of aggression should improve not only our understanding of the properly functioning mind, but also characterize poorly understood mental disorders.1 Laboratory experiments have been run on mice to identify cells that mediate aggression, but these areas were difficult to find due to their small size.1 After discovering these areas, researchers are beginning to study the underlying genetic pathway of aggression. Increasingly genetic approaches combined with refined traditional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Media Has Become A Political Outlet For Civilians... With the advancing globalized society that we live in, social media has become a political outlet for civilians of the interconnected world. Through this technological circuit, citizens are able to speak freely about the issues that concern them, giving them the ability to connect with others who share the same perspective. Looking through a development perspective, it is evident that social media outlets, for example twitter, have lead to major political uproar, such as the Arab Uprisings of 2011, or as popularized by the Western media, The Arab Spring . At this time, the demands of the protestors in the Arab region indicated their desire for greater social and economic justice and were made as a response to the growing concern regarding the Egyptian economy s tie into the capitalist world market (Haynes, 2013). The Arab Spring was not solely a revolt against authoritarian regimes but also expressions of a crisis caused by the imbalanced social order brought upon by neoliberal policies (Bogaert, 2013). • 7. The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In Schools When it comes to cultural diversity in schools, a lot of issues have the potential to come up. Currently, I feel that I am somewhat competent of the cultural diversity that exists in the world, but I have a lot more to learn. Some important things to consider when working with diverse populations are the morals and values that specific cultures hold and how they differ from what I know and live by. Becoming more aware of other cultures will help me be able to work with everyone no matter what culture they identify with. One thing that I think students will benefit from in schools is having a group to identify with whether is may be a culturally diverse group of people from many different places or a group solely for a specific culture. With these groups, we can help educate all students in the school to help them become more aware of their peers and help create a healthier and more accepting environment. Section 2: Personal Application of Theory: Learning about all of the different theories that contribute to the field of counseling has not only taught me a lot about the profession, but it has taught me a lot about myself personally. Through the phrase power plus prejudice, we have learned that racism, for example, can only be achieved with power. One can only be racist towards someone else if he or she has the power to do so. Meaning, is this person white or black? If they re white, they have power ergo can be racist. Throughout both Mixed Blood Stew by Jewell Parker Rhodes and the story The Sneetches by Dr. Seuss, the concept of power plus prejudice is portrayed. The story of The Sneetches offers an accurate portrayal of society today. In the story, we are told that there are creatures living on an island called sneetches. Some are born with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since Dr. Seuss uses strong words throughout the story, we can assume that the sneetches were either privileged or not privileged and that there were truly only two options within their society. However, at the end, when he uses positive word choice, we can assume that the sneetches living as a whole society was the correct choice from the start. In the story Mixed Blood Stew, we are given examples of miscegenation and how members of society with mixed race backgrounds are victims of prejudice. Similarly to the sneetches without stars on their stomachs, mixed race members of society are often looked at as lesser and not worthy of our time. However, we now understand that no matter what background someone might have, we should always give them a chance without judgement. In Mixed Blood Stew, many cultural references are made elaborating on this point. The one that sticks out to me the most is the reference to Lucy, the oldest fossil found that shows human characteristics. The author writes, Wasn t Lucy their mother too? (Rhodes) This reference is meant to enforce the message that all humans come from similar fossils and should be considered equal. The entirety of Mixed Blood Stew highlights the importance of recognizing that all humans are equal regardless of racial background. In both stories, there is a similar issue present. Some people would rather be in an abusive non healthy relationship than in a healthy relationship so that they do not have to be alone. Nowadays, relationships are put on such a pedestal that most young girls and even boys think they are obligated to be in a relationship in order to fit in. Furthermore, many relationships lead to abusive or obsessive relationships that can often lead to traumatic injuries and even death. For instance, the poet, Robert Browning relates how an obsessive relationship can change someone s life in a blink of an eye. Through the use of personification, imagery and character, Browning s poem Porphyria s Lover proves that love can make anyone deranged. First, Browning uses personification to demonstrate the idea that love can make someone disturbed, for example, The sullen wind was soon awake, (Line 2). As the character in this poem sits in his dark cottage pinning over his lover, he labels the wind as being sullen and awake as if the weather is intentionally being unpleasant. In reality, the speaker is just so insane that he assumes the weather is out to get him and is being irksome on purpose. Another example is, It tore the elm tops down for spite, (Line 3). The writer uses the word spite to describe his feelings because the wind does not feel spite during a storm. Once again, the character is so obsessed over Porphyria that he has gone crazy. While GRIs cannot provide solutions to all problems, they can indeed provide solutions for some of them. The conceptual basis, or the heuristics, underlying these innovations, can sometimes extend the frontiers of science, or improve efficiency in larger mainstream technological systems, in addition to meeting the local needs. But, incentives for developing technologies, which will have limited diffusion because of socio ecological conditions, are difficult to institutionalize. Most famous for his role as the ridiculous pirate captain Jack Sparrow, form Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp is also widely known for a number of other interesting characters in a number of other interesting shows, one of his earliest being Edward Scissorhands, in Edward Scissorhands (1990). The expansion of Depp s use of physical movement is tremendous between Edward Scissor hands ad Pirates of the Caribbean. And though they both differ tremendously in personality and physicality, they still maintain the wacky persona that is so characteristic of Johnny Depp. First let us analyze whether or not Depp centers each character. And the answer is that he centers both, but each differently. Edward Scissorhands is very centered, but definitely not comfortably centered. Although he stands erect, he stands with his head pulled back and his back very stiff, and his adds to the bizarreness of his strange character. Who stands like that? No one. It is interesting how just a little abnormality in posture can bring out abnormality in the entire character. • 27. Dichotomy In Paradise Lost And Murder Mysteries The common dichotomy of good versus evil is as old as the story of the world, and is timeless in its relevance to almost everything we do in life. This simple concept is seen in many places throughout our society including pieces of literature. After reading Paradise Lost and Murder Mysteries, it is clear that Milton and Gaiman portray this dichotomy through Satan and God, however, they do so in two very different ways. In Paradise Lost, John Milton uses detailed language and imagery to develop a kind, powerful God, and a Satan that is an equal adversary of God. In Murder Mysteries, Neil Gaiman also uses specific language and imagery, however, he creates the opposite: a monstrous God, and a gentle Satan. The fruit fly may seem like an insignificant specimen; however, it has a surprising number of parallels to the human genome. Humans have 46 chromosomes in which 23 are gametes involved in the reproduction process. Although, the fruit fly has only 4 chromosomes they behave very similarly to humans. This insight has led to new research and development that is continuously explored by scientists all over the globe. The fruit fly has an optimal life cycle which makes it convenient and efficient when studying its genetic information. A fruit fly incurs a life cycle that last approximately one and a half to two weeks. Its life cycle manifests in four phases respectively: egg, larva, pupal, and adult stage. Due to the short amount of time it takes a fruit fly to be reproduced and developed, a plethora of information can be learned in a very short period of time (Lewis 1998). Other benefits of using fruit flies are due to: low cost, production in large numbers, and easy production (Lewis 1998). In laboratory, a dihybrid cross was performed in order to determine the traits exhibited by the F2 generation. Fruit flies have a few physical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
