Government Over Regulation Of The United States
Camille Nelson
Kline
Honors English 10
10 April 2017
Government Over Regulation The United States has slowly conformed to the new ways of the Western
policy of democratic socialism in order to achieve equality in the eyes of the law, but with this the
necessary regulatory compliance of all citizens must be provided. If all American citizens do agree to
abide by the rules implemented by the United States, the freedom that they came here for would be
nonexistent, and they would no longer have the ability to truly live the infamous American dream .
The economy is also beginning to move away from the capitalist ways and move toward an ideology
of equality among the wealth and incomes of the people, and the only apparent way to achieve ...

Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves (Tanner 1).
Joseph Stiglitz, a Nobel Prize winner, Chief Economist at Roosevelt Institute, best selling author, and
a professor at Columbia University explains the problems with the current economy in the United
States in his book Rewriting the Rules of the American Economy. He explains that even though the
one percent of the United States population is living a prosperous life, the remaining ninety nine
percent are being hurt by this reality (Stiglitz 8). From this it can be concluded that the regulations
currently being pressed upon the majority of the population are hurting more than benefitting.
Capitalism is defined as an economic and political system in which a country s trade and industry are
controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state (Oxford Dictionary 1). There has been
a longing to find a balance between this and socialism. The laissez faire is the commonly known
economic idea of a government refraining from interfering in the free market in order to allow the
people to control their own means of production and selling of goods. This seems to be ruined by the
over regulation of the economy by the government because much of the US economic benefits rely on
the free market. Also, capitalism allows for people to voluntarily take part in making their own wealth.
Without this, competition among businesses would be gone and

Pierre Elliot Trudeau s War Measures Act
Just watch me are the defiant words uttered by Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau in
response to the Front de liberation du Quebec (FLQ), a Marxist group captaining Quebec
independence through indiscriminate political violence. His words are not those of an iron fisted
strongman, despite how strong and undetailed his comments were at the time, but those of a calculated
and well versed leader, whose decisions came at the behest of prominent Quebec politicians. The FLQ
instilled a decade of social violence in the streets of Quebec by systemically championing the
struggles of French minorities who perceived unjust treatment in everyday life. Their qualms quickly
evolved from protest to a Marxist movement, which incorporated elements ... Show more content on

LaPorte was later killed in the first assassination since Thomas d Arcy McGee and Cross s life was
traded for immunity for some FLQ members. These actions set off the only implementation of the act
in non wartime eras, reinforcing the limits of justice and political process. LaPorte was not an enemy
of the group, rather a Quebec minister of labour. Upon his death, it was stated, LaPorte was killed and
left in the drunk of an abandoned car. In addition to the murder of LaPorte, the FLQ s actions were
responsible for the deaths of seven people (Gurr, Ross, 1989). The murder of an elected diplomat, in
execution style displayed the absolute, unwavering need for Trudeau to rule with absolute power. The
FLQ had grown powerful enough to kill elected politicians and Trudeau needed to send a military
message that there would not be a violation of Canadian ideals. The military stance was an effective
message and provided necessary backup to police forces to deal with the threat of selective
assassination. This response was as moral as it was military, and enforced confidence in both Canada s
military, but also Trudeau. His actions could dismantle and scatter the youth of the FLQ, and brought

Shifts in the Fatherly Relationships in Those Winter...
Robert Hayden wrote about his strained relationship with his father in his childhood years. Yet, as
much as Robert Hayden seemed not to appreciate his father when he was young, his father worked
hard to ensure the comfort of his son, and to ready him for the adult life. This is understandable since
parent child relationships often go through phases. Robert Hayden used strong language to create a
tone that shifts from gratefulness to regret, painting a picture of his relationship with his father over a
lifetime. In stanza 1, Robert Hayden used detail and imagery to portray the grateful tone. Hayden s
father worked hard in any conditions to bring comfort to the household. Sundays too the poet s father
got up early Sundays are supposed to be a day of rest for the masses, a break from the labor in the
weekday . Yet, Robert s father is willing to give up his sleep and comfort for the comfort of his son.
This can be thought of like a parent in the Holocaust giving up some of their rations to their son or
daughter. Sacrificing common human comforts to give relief to family member is not an easy thing to
do, especially facing such difficult circumstances as that, yet, often; parents are willing to do it. Robert
Hayden now sees that he witnessed this in his father, and is grateful for it. Robert s father would not
just have to arise early, but also put his clothes on in the blueblack cold as well. Getting rid of the cold
is the very reason that the father gets up in the

Analysis Of The Poem Reluctance
In his poem Reluctance , he talks about being in denial and reluctantly carrying on as if the
relationship will fix itself. The narrator uses nature to describe the state of his relationship, both
longing for healing, but unwilling and unsure of how to go about it. The poem reads,
The last lone aster is gone;
The flowers of the witch hazel wither;
The heart is still aching to seek,
But the feet question Whither? (62)
The aster flower represents the absence of love and patience. Witch hazel, meaning pliant or bendable,
signifies that both parties in the relationship are unwilling to be flexible and understanding of each
other s wants, needs, and desires. Their hearts are aching to seek, (62) but they are in denial of any
possible way to make the relationship work. The relationship between the last lone aster , witch hazel ,
and the narrator connect the life and death cycle that is viewable in nature to his relationship. Frost
recognizes that knowledge of nature and man s self knowledge were thus interdependent. (63) By
understanding this, he can apply the wisdom to his relationship. A flower, as well as a relationship,
need to be tended to or will begin the wither. Nevertheless, the life of the flower or relationship is
never guaranteed. In love, one must remain flexible, knowing that even as a flower begins to wither ,
there may still be a way to bring it back to life. No matter how much knowledge is acquired
throughout a lifetime, wisdom is in knowing that

Essential Oils For Menstrual Cramps
Essential Oils for Menstrual Cramps
One of the most common gynecological complaints among adult and adolescent females is cramping
at the onset of menstruation. Some research has shown that over 80% of all college aged females, and
more than 50% of adolescent females, will experience painful menstrual cramps on a regular basis.
However, the next time menstrual cramps set in instead of going to the pharmacy for pain relievers,
consider using essential oils for menstrual cramps.
Essential Oils for Menstrual Cramps:

Claudius s Craziness In Hamlet
As Hamlet might seem like one to be thoughtful of his actions, he changes as he suddenly acts crazy.
This craziness is used as a cover for a plan to kill Claudius. It is almost as if this sudden change in
character causes Hamlet to garner the true characteristics of his craziness. He thinks on his feet as he
contemplates, Haste me to know t, that I, with wings as swift/ As meditation or the thoughts of love/
May sweep to my revenge (I.vi.35 37). Speaking to the ghost of old Hamlet, he suddenly pushes his
plan in response to the news of his father s murder. He reacts quickly without ambition to conquer his
motive. This evolving character proves to be hostile towards others as this revenge is no longer a train
of thought, but instead, an action ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With uncertainty of trusting the ghost, while pretending to be crazy, he organizes a play, wherein I ll
catch the conscious of the king (II.ii.634). Although it might seem like Hamlet inherits philosophical
aspects, it is the fear that is holding him back. He procrastinates the murder of the king, as he
apprehends facing death. This theme is further repeated when he says, Now might I do it pat. Now he
is a praying. / And now I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven. / And so am I revenged. That would be
scanned. / A villain kills my father, and, for that, / I, his sole son, do this same villain send / To heaven.
/ Oh, this is hire and salary, not revenge (III.iii.77 84). Hamlet begins to overthink his objective by
postponing the murder. This waiting represents the fear Hamlet contains. His conscience does not
allow him to follow through with the murder. These characters resemble correlative traits when
Claudius ordered Hamlet to be sent to England with fear and trepidation, To bear all smooth and even,
/ This sudden sending him away must seem / Deliberate pause. Diseases desperate grown / By
desperate appliance are relieved, / Or not at all, (IV.iii.7 11) foreseeing danger if he stayed around.
Afraid that his life may be threatened, Claudius sends Hamlet away, instead of confronting him like a
man. At this point, Claudius displays his fear of death and

The Importance Of Mindfulness Based Strengths Practice
Research Related to the Values in Action Inventory In a study done by Itai Ivtzan, Ryan M. Niemiec,
and Charlie Briscoe (2016), they performed an experiment to show that Mindfulness Based Strengths
Practice (MBSP) programs would improve the overall welfare of the lives of those who were part of
the MBSP group compared to those who were in the no intervention control group. The hypothesis of
this study was that, participants in the MBSP group would show higher levels of wellbeing, as
predicted by higher scores on the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), Flourishing Scale (FS), the
Positive Psychotherapy Inventory, and the Signature Strengths Inventory (SSI), compared to
participants in the control group (Ivtzan, Niemiec, Briscoe, 2016). To perform this experiment, two
groups of people were created from the general adult public. The first group was made up of twenty
participants whom did not receive any intervention. The second group was made up of those that were
put into the MBSP group. The MBSP group was made up of nineteen participants, which were later
split into two groups, a group of nine and a group of ten. The MBSP groups performed one right after
the other, each group was to complete eight weeks of intervention. This intervention was performed
online and participants would log on and complete two hours of practices and exercises. Participants
in both groups filled out a self report questionnaire, that took around five minutes to complete, to get a

Example Of Courage Research Paper
In my life I need a lot of courage to do the things I do every day, It takes a lot of courage to just come
to school every Monday and take that test I know I am not ready for yet. Although I may need a lot of
courage every day, one example really pops in my mind when I think of courage in my life. My dad,
My brother and myself were all traveling to Utah for a snowboarding trip, and up there in Utah, it is a
lot different than it is in Vermont or upstate New York which is where I normally go. I have been
snowboarding for many years and I have gotten a lot better than I used to be, but when my dad and

When I think of courageous people in our world one of the first people that come to my mind is Eric
Berry. Eric Berry is a safety for the Kansas City Chiefs and is actually a very talented player.
Unfortunately, Berry was diagnosed with cancer and had to stop playing in the NFL. After a long hard
battle with cancer, with all of Kansas City s support and help, Eric Berry returned back to the NFL
Playing just as well as he played before. No one treated him any different than they did before because
that is what he wanted, he wanted to be seen as the talented football safety, not the cancer survivor
who everyone pitied. To me, it seemed Eric Berry showed a lot of courage and it was really
outstanding how after being close to death and not being sure if he d come back alive, he returned to
the NFL facing his fears in the face. No one likes to face their fears because obviously, it s their fears.
For Berry to look fear in the face and keep moving forward, it took a lot of courage and that is why he
is such an influence on a lot of people. Courage is all over the place, but people don t realize it.
Courage is shown within ourselves, in arts, and all over our world today. Courage is something that
everyone should have because, without it, most people would not be in the place they are

Factors Influencing Nursing Among Nurses
Title: Factors influencing professionalism in nursing among nurses in a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi
Arabia.
INTRODUCTION
Statement of the problem
Healthcare organizations in Saudi Arabia are very dependent on expatriate nurses to meet the demands
of health staffing, a situation exacerbated by the current global nursing shortages and retention issues
(Almalki, Fitzgerald, Clark, 2011). I propose to study the factors that influence the professionalism in
nursing amongst nurses from different countries in a hospital in Saudi Arabia. I am particularly
interested in this field as I have encountered nurses behaving unprofessionally in a hospital setting.
According to Miller, Adams and Beck (1993), formal education in a university setting and education
with a scientific background are critical for professionalism in nursing. A study done by Rees,
Monrouxe, and McDonald (2015), expressed that while nursing students are shown professionalism
through formal educational module, they ordinarily encounter workplace based professionalism
dilemmas that are frequently created by registered nurses. Peer relationships in nursing is also
important in maintaining the standards of professionalism (Padgett, 2013).
Purpose of the study
The purpose of the study is to determine the factors influencing professionalism in nursing among
nurses in a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Theoretical framework
The theoretical framework that I would use in this research paper is the Hall s

Dunkirk Controlled Assessment

Dunkirk is a sea port located in The North East regions of France. Having WW2 commenced,
Germany has successfully invaded such countries as Poland, Denmark, and Norway with Britain
sending their forces to help Norway yet, the German forces and navy became very advanced in all
aspects of the war that it seemed no country would be able to even see a sight of victory against a
strong and well prepared German Side which had their Blitzkrieg (Lightening War) tactic which saw
them defeat the big countries of Europe. Soon enough the Nazis invaded Belgium and Holland also
and had another victorious spell with Belgium in surrender and Holland in no state to even stand a

had created the Plan of Operation Dynamo where now the only intentions was to retreat British and
even French soldiers to the Sea Port of Dunkirk where people sailed back and forth rescuing many.
The German forces were still advanced enough to exploit the gap left in the Allied Line which made
this process harder for the British. It is said around 345,000 allied troops were rescued from Dunkirk
and that this was more than expected even recusing more French Troops but yet some say this was not
a large enough total and many were captured by the German or went missing. Dunkirk can be seen as
both a defeat and victory or even both due to the different events which took place before and during
the battle of Dunkirk. Dunkirk will go down in history as a remarkable and history changing event

How To Write An Essay About The Vietnam War
Vietnam War Essay War is never pleasant for anyone, the shedding of blood and tears falling to the
ground. The Vietnam war was no exception; both the North and South Vietnam and their ally, the
United States used questionable tactics and equipment to survive and prevail in the war. Initially, the
war was fought between North Vietnam and South Vietnam, but the US intervened, later on, to fight
against communism(North Vietnam). The US had a crucial impact in the war, supplying South
Vietnam with military and economic aid to win against North Vietnam. North Vietnam didn t lose their
composure, despite given this news and instead fought vigilantly to cause a stalemate between the two
sides. Vietnam took a turn after this event, leading to an innumerable amount of deaths throughout the

Yellow Journalism In American War
Yellow journalism is a type of journalism that contained exaggerated stories paired with eye catching
photos, drawing many readers. Historians throughout the years have postulated that this is the cause
for the Spanish American War; however this is deceitful. Although many articles were intentionally
made to anger Americans, thus causing war, the yellow press had no effect on the decision to declare
war against Spain. William Randolph Hearst, a person often credited with beginning the yellow press
genre, made an unsuccessful attempt to start a war. President Mckinley had his own reasons to
announce war with Spain that were completely unrelated to yellow journalism.
The term yellow journalism was first used to describe William Randolph ... Show more content on

Newspapers that did not fit the genre, yellow journalism, also covered stories of the ongoing fight
between Spain and Cuba. Two examples are New York Herald and the New York Sun. These
newspapers were known for sometimes surpassing even the Journal in the amount of aggressiveness.
An excerpt from one of their articles proves without a doubt how antagonistic they could write. They
claimed the Spanish were, guilty of deeds which no other modern army would perpetrate. If there be
an American whose blood does not boil when he reads them, or who would not take up arms to put a
stop to them, his Americanism is bogus, and is manhood is a mockery of the world. The yellow press
was also not the only one that spread rumors. The New York Press claimed that the first move by the
American Navy would be to capture Havana if there were to be war with Spain. Both the New York
Press and New York Sun published an article of Weyler s possible dismissal and departure from Cuba.
It is completely unfair to only credit the yellow press for being the only type of newspaper to
continuously write aggressively about Spain s control over Cuba, and then saying they could actually

Aldous Huxley s Brave New World
Aldous Huxley s Brave New World kindles many questions about today s social order and considers
the questionable society exposed in the book. Throughout the book, Huxley presents a world much
different than the one we are accustomed to. Some question whether the novel portrays a dystopian or
utopian civilization. There are a variety of advantages and disadvantages of Huxley s world paralleled
to the one we live in today. Two major disadvantages considered consist of the lack of family,
monogamy, and social organization; as well as the need for soma in lieu of happiness, or rather the
fake happiness it compromises. In contrast, the benefits of the society are limited. These consist of
concepts behind the elimination of conflicts, commitments, and worries. Everybody observes the story
from a different perspective. Knowing the gains and losses of each society, which pertain to the family
system, monogamy, feelings of world peace, elimination of commitment, and the exclusion of disease,
will assist a person in concluding their belief on whether each culture is flawless or severely corrupt.
Some may argue that Huxley s removal of the normal family system and replacement of it with a
polygamous arrangement is an enthusiastic one. However, the concept behind monogamy and family
is a beautiful one. Monogamy is strength, it gives people a home and a person they can trust and
believe in with their whole heart. With polygamy arises drama, distrust, hatred, lust, and jealousy.

Good Ole American Way Essay
Good Ole American Way Though many feel that the American education system is a model of success,
compared to the educational system of Finland, the American system is in dire need of reform. The
focus of these reforms should begin with mandatory recess, teacher salaries, and high stakes testing.
Recess should be a necessary part of the student s day. Teachers, who are the key to student s learning,
do not make they salary they deserve. Standardized testing is unfair because one test cannot determine
a student s ability. Recess is as important as classroom time. It is critical in development and social
interaction (Rochman). Students should be able to go blow off steam, run around for a half hour, let
out some energy halfway through their day. Recess can also teach young kids responsibility. If he or
she gets in trouble, the school can take it away from them. This teaches children that their actions have
consequences. It helps children practice conflict and resolution. Play time benefits extend beyond the

Analysis Of Henrik Ibsen s A Doll House
Henrik Ibsen s play A Doll House addresses the importance of the roles women play throughout this
time period. Women are thought to be like dolls to their husbands, by obeying their commands and
keeping a good image. We see the main character, Nora Helmer struggle to keep her perfect image of a
great wife as troubles start to arise. Throughout the play we begin to see Nora push through her
troubles and find her true identity, Nora shifts from being the loving, perfect wife, to being a strong
and independent woman. Starting in Act one we see Nora Helmer as a loving, wife that likes to spend
all her husband s money. Although, she asks for money quite often and seems to spend freely, she
never spends the money on herself. She only purchases things for the house or her children. Nora
seems like a very selfless individual whose main concerns are her family. Through the statement her
husband, Torvald says that is, if you actually hung onto the money I give you, and you actually used it
to buy yourself something (800), we get the impression that Nora cares more about the happiness of
others than her own happiness. Instead of spending the money on herself, she would rather spend it on
her family. Nora plays the role of a loving woman who wants to please her husband and be the perfect
wife. We later realize there is more to Nora s spending habits than we know. When Mrs. Linde arrives
at the Helmer home, we see a shift in gears with Nora. At first Nora is very happy and

Having An Independent Director Essay
CONCLUSION
The Companies Act, 2013 has given Independent directors great empowerment so as to make sure that
management and affairs of the company run fairly and smoothly, at the same time making an
independent director accountable for all actions taken by him. Further this Act, 2013 empowered the
Independent directors to have a definite say in the management of a company, which thereby
immensely strengthens the corporate governance of the country. The Act also empowers independent
directors with proper checks and balances, so that such extensive powers are not exercised in an
unbridled manner, but in a rational and accountable way.
The new concept of having an Independent Director is a welcoming step for corporate governance in
India. The changes have been made so as take a step in the right direction. An Independent Director is
expected to enhance corporate governance and ensure the management and affairs of the companies
are conducted in the interest of stakeholders. It is expected that these changes will thwart corporate
scandals in future and insulate shareholders interest.
However it is also important to keep in mind that good corporate governance is not just the outcome
of appropriate selection and effective functioning of an independent Director. Every director, whether
independent/non independent, executive/non executive has a distinct role in the functioning of the
company. It is only when the entire board functions effectively which results to good

Dylan Thomas Essay
Dylan Thomas
Dylan Thomas was born on October 27, 1914 in Swansea, Wales. His father was a teacher and his
mother was a housewife. Thomas was a sickly child who had a slightly introverted personality and
shied away from school. He didn t do well in math or science, but excelled in
Reading and English. He left school at age 17 to become a journalist.
In November of 1934, at age 20, he moved to London to continue to pursue a career in writing. His
first collection of poems called 18
Poems was released in 1934. Many people loved his work, and he gained instant recognition. His

Thomas was a very creative and talented writer. He not only wrote poetry, but wrote prose and drama
as well. He was an individualistic writer, and was often referred to as the classic Welsh writer. He used
many different narrative elements, mostly metaphors, imagery, meter and comic wit. His themes were
consistent, he mostly wrote about life, death and mutability. Thomas favorite writer, D.H. Lawrence,
inspired his intense lyricism and love for fantasy. The literary period that Thomas lived in was staid
Puritanism, but he wrote mostly with a Romantic style. Most of Thomas imagery was based on Welsh
legend, Christian symbolism, witchcraft, astronomy and Freudian
Psychology.
His most important works were of all different styles. The two collaborations that gained him the most
recognition were of poetry, 18
Poems and 25 Poems. These poems were commonly read and entertaining to people of his time
period. Although his poetry was recognized while he was living, he became most famous after he died.
His prose writing was mainly sketches and stories. Most of his stories were altered autobiographical
with fantasy. Two of his most renowned prose writings are: Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog
(published in 1940) and
Adventures in the Skin Trade (published in 1955). He also wrote radio shows later in his career. His

Traffic Congestion and the Pollution it Creates is...
According to the Toronto Environmental Office, vehicles are responsible for 35% of all greenhouse
gases (GHG) produced in Toronto (City of Toronto, 2011), and the Clean Air Partnership estimates
that idling in the GTHA wastes 90 million litres of fuel each year (ibid), which further justifies the
need to combat gridlock and traffic congestion with effective government policies. Air is a
transboundary problem therefore no one jurisdiction, whether it is a municipality, province, country or
continent, can completely control the air in which its residents breathe in. In addition, each have their
own authority to uphold air quality for its residents but cannot control the air pollution coming in from
neighbouring provinces and countries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cooperation will be key in combating decreasing air quality as a result of gridlock and traffic
congestion.
Although air quality falls under different jurisdictions and is subject to various laws and regulations
that cross municipal and provincial jurisdictions, municipal governments can exert control, even with
their limited powers, by creating bylaws that help increase the air quality in Toronto. On top of
creating bylaws within the city, the municipalities must ensure that they work with the different levels
of governments to pass worthwhile laws and regulations across the province that will help reverse the
decreasing air quality in the GTHA and in the province in general. Traffic Congestion has been a
problem for those living in the city and those commuting to the city for years now. The Toronto
Region Board of Trade (2013) points out how investing in the regional transportation plan, also known
as The Big Move, which was developed by the Province s regional transportation agency Metrolinx, is
key to improving roads and highways for drivers across the GTHA (p. 2) and therefore decreasing the
negative affects from gridlock and traffic congestion. There a number of ways improvements can be
made including, but not limited to, investing in public transportation, improving intraregional
bottlenecks (ibid.) and increasing tickets and fines (Heisey, 2013, p. 2), along with many other
important changes, all of which will require legal action and political cooperation.

The Meaning Of Love, By John Clare
This poem was written by John Clare, an English poet. This poem is about love and he used the nature
to describe love because many poems of John Clare was about rural life and scenery. This poem will
present the love that is secret love. There are three stanzas, twenty four lines and eight lines in each
stanza. In the first stanza, in the line 1 2, when the speaker was young, he fell in love with a woman
and he kept his love all along. He never told her. The word buzzing of fly was like a sound of his heart
that was always loud in his heart and he cloud not control it. It was like he could not keep this secret
love. In the line 3 5, he did not dare to gaze her face. He felt that it had something in his mind that
made him could not dare to see her face like he had sin that was dark and could not touch the light.
The word light refers to her face. In the line 6 8, when he went to somewhere, he always thought of ...

word buzzing (line 2 in first stanza). In the first stanza the buzzing of fly was the sound of his heart,
but in the third stanza the sound of his heart was louder than first stanza because the line 20 said that
the fly s bass turned a lion s roar. It means that it was hard to hide his love and could not keep his love

The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Surgery
Plastic Surgery has become a wide topic in the United States. Plastic surgery is also known as, the
reconstruction surgery that involves the restoration of a function to a damaged body part and the
rebuilding of normal physical contours when parts of the body such as the nose, jaw, ears, or fingers
are missing or disfigured. Throughout the years, plastic surgery has become a well known surgery. The
overall percentage on plastic surgery dropped by forty percent for the first time in a decade, total
cosmetic procedures for women and men dropped below thirty one thousand that was the lowest since
the year od 2006. I believe that plastic surgery has very many cons towards it. There are many
statistics that prove that plastic surgery can be a harmful idea to the body. However, there is also many
positive thoughts when looking at the overall picture with plastic surgery. According to the article
Plastic Surgery pit is often done for purely cosmetic reasons, to remove blemished, make unusual
contours more normal, or improve self esteem. Plastic surgery has caused many people to reach the

Irony In Harrison Bergeron
Harrison Bergeron is a short story that takes place in a dystopian society where everyone has equal
mental and physical capabilities forced on them by the government. In this short story, Harrison
Bergeron supposedly plays a big role in society by being the savior, but his goal to protest against the

specific punishment to help prevent further offences. People caught drinking and driving can suffer a
large number of penalties even at the first offence. Some of the penalties include fines, license
restrictions, mandatory attendance at alcohol education classes or counseling, or community service

individuals. These individuals need help if they can hope to avoid drinking and driving. The class
generally will consist of a program for all addicts not just those who are charged with Driving Under

abuse it occasionally. For the moderate to rare abusers the program will force them to see and interact
with people who have a serious addiction, and seeing the addicts can help scare them away from bad
choices regarding alcohol for a while. The addicted people can not only benefit from the class, but
they can also receive more help if they desire or require it. Considering the punishments that drunk
drivers receive, people caught texting and driving should acquire a similar punishment. Sending texts

Literary Analysis Of Thomas Hardy s The Darkling Thrrush
Thomas Hardy s poem The Darkling Thrush presents a first person speaker, staring out onto the
unwelcoming frozen landscape, as he reflects on the living and un living, being on the hastened path
to death and decay. Considering his title, the use of the word Darkling , meaning becoming dark,
immediately, the reader is given a negative undertone. He explores the theme of death and decay of
the events of the 19th century, and the 19th century itself, The Century s corpse . Also, the use of a
first person narrative creates involvement and intensifies that feeling of isolation as I will explore later
in the essay, along with the techniques Hardy uses, and imagery he creates.
Hardy uses many techniques for the rhythm of his poem, some that work together and some that
disrupt the harmonious cadence that they create. The poem is written in an iambic meter, the pace is
preserved through as it has a regular iambic rhythm, alternating through trimeter and tetrameter on
each line. This rhythm effects the pace of the poem, making it slow and joyless, as it creates an
unsteady, eerie atmosphere by using the alternating meters, again enhancing the reader s imagery and
feelings of darkness and isolation. This is also maintained through the use of alternating rhyme at the
end of a line, gate [...] desolate as it presents a rhythm and almost relieves the tension that the speaker
creates for the reader. However, the iambic meter and the alternating rhyme is disrupted by the use of
imperfect rhyme throughout the poem, desolate [...] day this causes variation in tone and an
inharmonious feel, contrasting with the regular rhythm and rhyme, intensifying the eerie feel that the
descriptive language creates. Another technique Hardy uses that contributes to the tone and pace of the
poem, is enjambment, [...] broken lyres / And all [...] , the way Hardy uses this in his poem creates a
durable passage through time, it does this by slowing the pace of the poem down.
The theme of nature is explored through personification and symbolism, also the decaying element of
nature within the poem is illustrated through language of bereavement. Firstly, in the beginning stanza,
the personification through the capitalization of Frost and

Laundry Detergents As A Cleansing Agent
Introduction
Laundry detergents are a cleansing agent that is widely used in the industry to clean laundry. The term
detergent refers to mixtures of chemical compounds including Alkyl Sulphonates, which are similar to
soap but less affected by hard water (Farlex, 2014). Like soap, detergent increases the ability of water
to penetrate fabric and break down greases and dirt, however they are derived from organic acids
rather than fatty acids (Mifflin, 2005). A detergent is an ion or molecule that contains both polar and
nonpolar components. The polar component allows the detergent to dissolve in the water, whereas the
nonpolar component solubilizes greasy materials that are the usual target of the cleaning process.
Their molecules then surround the particles of grease and dirt, allowing them to be carried away thus
leaving your clothes clean. This EEI explores the performance of two different laundry powders (Fab
and Woolworths select Home brand) in different types of water; ranging from soft to hard. These
detergents were compared and analysed in different types of water from varying locations to
determine whether water hardness has an effect on the cleaning ability of detergents, and whether
products should be specifically formulated depending on the type of water.

that each play important roles in the laundry process depending on the cleaning tasks

Pros And Cons Of Miranda Rights
Anisha Wise July 7, 2017 Political Science 125 Summer Online
Getting Rid of Miranda Rights The Miranda rights are the rights a law enforcement will have to advise
an individual once the police officer arrests that particular person. It is actually the indication that
officers of the law provide suspects to ensure that they are aware of their rights before they are
interrogated. It was in fact a law created after the investigations of the Miranda vs. Arizona case. The
case was comparable because it was a 5 4 conclusion. The court determined that any form of evidence,
may it be incriminating as well as evidence of innocence, should be considered to be proof in a case;
but could only be considered whenever the police let the suspect understand that they have the right to
legal representation before and also throughout questioning and that the suspect may be quiet to
prevent self incrimination before an interrogation. This can be a staple whenever police arrests are
done. I am going to specify the reason why I think that the Miranda Rights are not needed any longer.
The Miranda Rights should no longer be needed. A single factor behind the introduction of the
Miranda rights are given that before Miranda vs. Arizona the law enforcement will continuously
exercise physical violence to get confessions as well as information from possible criminals. The
Miranda Rights reduce the continuous torment to obtain admissions of guilt. In the present day,
however modern

South Dakota Financing Case Study
In the financing market, there is an important need to balance the powers between lenders and
borrowers. In this market, the borrowers are in a relatively weak position to negotiate the interest rates
of their loans, being the party in need. Lenders, in accordance to the law of supply and demand, can
strategically withhold money supply to increase demand and interest rates. Historically, government
regulators ensured, through usury laws, that consumers were protected against financial predators
(Bowsher, 1974). However, the current trend in the financing market has moved steadily towards
loosening the usury laws and allowing the markets to dictate interest rates. This paper will attempt to
understand this trend through a series of six questions and answers.
1. What is the main purpose of the usury law? Short answer: The main purpose of the usury law is to
protect borrowers from excessively high lending interest rates. Norman Bowsher of the Federal

Why did South Dakota decide to eliminate the cap on interest rates? Short answer: South Dakota
decided to eliminate the cap on interest rates because it is not keeping up with the increasing costs of
money and the interest cap in the state is lower than the national interest rate. In 1979, the 9 percent
range mortgage loan rates had been increasing to 9.75 percent. Short term rates moved up faster
(Hajek, 2004). However, the lending rates, capped by usury laws, were trailing the rapidly rising
money costs nationwide. This is the time when the Federal Reserve Regulation Q had been phasing
out and Chairman Paul Volcker decided to let the rates float on supply and demand forces. The South
Dakota Bankers Association Legislative Committee (SDBALC) believed that eliminating the lending
rate cap would let it loose to keep up with the increasing money costs. The approach was not to
remove the usury law (a complex legislative move), but to gain exemption from the usury law for
regulated institutions (e.g.

The modern day nomad is any person who has to ask themselves where their travel begins and where
they end and what exactly counts as the whole soul searching shebang. The thing about those
collectors of cool things is that their routine is the lack of one. If that s so, what happens when they

decide that for this trip, they will become a minimalist like no other. This has never turned out so
picture perfect for m, but it does represent the start of sacrificing comfort in the hope of gaining
something from the lack of it.

opportunities and what conditions came with them. I strategized that if Top Foods first offered

Physics of Mining Essay
Mining is a necessary component of the world we live in and it has been practiced for thousands of
years. The mining industry produces billions of tons of raw product every year. The process of mining
is very complicated and involves plenty of physics! Two main components of the mine cycle are:
Drilling, and Blasting. Some important factors in mining are the pillars, rock elasticity, and the slope
stability of the ground being mined.
A basic method for destroying rock is mechanically induced stress, such as drills and erosion jets. A
turbine drill for example, uses a turbine to rotate a diamond faced cutter wheel. The power output, p,
can be calculated using the equation p=2 πNT where N is the rotational speed of the turbine and T is ...

It is normal for these shearers to have up to 1 megawatt of power!
Blasting is used in mining to break up rock or create space. Explosives are placed in a blasting hole
and then detonated. The velocity of the detonation of the explosives are enormous. The detonation of a
common explosive such as ANFO (an agent consisting of ammonium nitrate prills and fuel oil) can
reach velocities of 5,000 m/s in a 375 mm blasting hole. Blasting is very dangerous because it
produces fragments of rock moving at high speeds called flyrock. There have been cases of flyrock
weighing up to 500 kg being projected almost a full kilometer!
It is often necessary for miners to take into account the resistance of rock bodies to compression and
distortion when placed under stress. The ability of a body to resist forces is determined by elasticity.
The three moduli of elasticity are:
Young s Modulus: E= (Applied force/Area) / (Change in length/original length)
Shear Modulus: G= (Applied force/unit area) / (Angular deformation)
Bulk Modulus K= (Force/unit area) / (Change in volume/unit volume)
Young s Modulus measures the ability of a body to resist elongation or shortening.
Shear Modulus measures the ability of a body to resist a change in shape.
Bulk Modulus measures the ability of a body to resist a change in volume.
Slope stability is important when a judgment is needed

training on the SI and the CI during regularly scheduled class time. No one involved knew of the
details of the experiment or the types of techniques being tested. Interviewers received course credit
and monetary compensation for their participation.
The interview has long been part of the systems professional s repertoire of elicitation tools, used

Aperture Cameras Consistently Returned The Highest Net Income
Aperture Cameras consistently returned the highest net income (Fig.3), which provided the base for
strong earnings per share (EPS) and return on equity (REO). For example, Year 6 earnings per share
was $3.57 and increased in each subsequent year, ending Year 12 at $7.25. The improved EPS was
accomplished with providing consistent well thought out modifications to the business model and not
significant stock repurchase. The company did strategically make annual stock repurchases starting in
Year 8. Return on Equity (ROE) was maintained at a consistent weighted average of 23.7, representing
the average of ROE from a low of 21.0 to a high of 27.1. Management elected to operate the company
with sound business principals and avoid aggressive changes in the balance sheet and/or P L, which
could dramatically swing the ROE.
It was management s opinion what consistent reliable business practices would add a sense of security
to the company s operations, employees and shareholders. The financial consistency of the company
provided shareholders with comfort in their investment with the stock price at $43.92 in Year 6 and
steadily rising to $128.11 by Year 12. As previously noted, the financial results were accomplished by
providing consistent high net earnings on its operations each accounting year. The company did not
incur long term debt and operated its business without having to utilized its bank operating line of
credit (no interest cost), thus maintaining a healthy

Gen Y In The Work Force Analysis
If we take a look at my generation and previous generation one this is unmistakable, each generation
possess individual values, attitudes and goals. After reading the article Gen Y in the Workforce by
Tamara J. Erickson it became obvious to me that there is a generation gap between the traditionalists
and generation Y. I believe a number of things play a role in this gap one of which I believe is the help
my generation has received from previous generations. My generation has received more help from
the previous generation than they received at my age. The traditionalists in particular had to work hard
and struggle to earn a nice life. Since they achieved this and do not want future generations to go
through the hardships they had to endure,

The American War On Drugs
The American War on Drugs war created to keep an exorbitant amount of people behind bars, and in a
subservient status. First, America has a storied history when it comes to marijuana use. However,
within the last 50 years legislation pertaining to drug use and punishment has increased significantly.
In the modern era, especially hard times have hit minority communities thanks to these drug laws.
While being unfairly targeted by drug laws and law enforcement, minorities in America are having a
difficult time trying to be productive members of society. A famous quote attributed to Charlie
Fleisher says much about the 1960 s. If you remember the 1960 s, then you weren t there. By the late
1960s drug use had become a fairly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to spread lies about marijuana use, various agencies released propaganda films, most notable
of these films is Reefer Madness . In this film, high school students are lured into using marijuana,
which leads the students to commit murder, rape, suicide, and an overall decent into madness. Despite
the strong use of propaganda, marijuana use saw an upward trend between the 1950 s and the 1960 s.
Use of marijuana had spread to the white upper and middle classes by the 1960 s, partially changing
the negative connotations attached to marijuana use. The drug was used by these middle and upper
class whites to rebel against the older generation s way of thinking. Many teens were introduced to
marijuana use in college, where various other counter culture ideas were being expounded. While the
use of marijuana experienced a rise since the 1800 s to the middle of the 20th century, use of the drug
saw a strong downward trend in the 1970 s through the early 1990 s, in part due to the strongest

J.k. Rowling s The World Of The Olympics
Quidditch in the Olympics
Introduction
Would it interest you to know that the newest game in the Olympics was going to include flying on
booms 200 feet in the air and smacking away balls that are hurdling towards you at 70 miles per hour?
I would personally be VERY interested, but sadly we have to settle and fight for the next best thing.
Grounded (or mugglized, as the Potterheads would call it) Quidditch.
History of Quidditch
The sport quidditch was first played in 2005 at Middlebury College by Harry Potter fan, freshman
Xander Manshel. Xander had been looking for something he could start that showed his appreciation
for his love of sports and his love of J.K. Rowling s best selling book series, Harry Potter.
Once Xander got a team together it s popularity started to grow around campus and six more teams
were formed. In 2006 quidditch players told their friends about the newest sport and quidditch s
popularity grows to more campuses. In 2007 the first quidditch world cup is held between Middlebury
and Vassar community colleges. Quidditch becomes one of the most popular clubs on campuses.
Quidditch continues to grow in popularity up until 2010 when the USQ (United States Quidditch) is
established as the first nonprofit quidditch organization.
Description Of Quidditch
In the Harry Potter series the protagonist, Harry, is chosen to be on his school s quidditch team. Harry
s quidditch team has most of the same rules as the modern teams but his are a little bit more

The History of Tattoos
The Beginning of Tattoos
Different cultures tattoo for different reasons like, protection, rank in society, adornment of the body
and coming of age. Regardless of why people are tattooed, they have been tattooing since before the
birth of Christ. Throughout history tattooing has served many purposes. The earliest evidence of
tattooing was found in 1991 in the mountains of Austria. An Iceman was found, his bones dated back
to 3,300 B.C. which is over 5300 years ago. His skin had signs of blue tattoos. The scientists did not
understand the reasons for his tattoos, but counted fifty eight in total. (Wiman Rudzinski, 2002) Egypt
is generally accepted as the birth place of tattoos. Tattoos were widely accepted and ... Show more

Tribal tattoos have been used for many reasons. They were used to promote a relationship with a god,
and to help then get to the proper spirit world. Tribes also thought that tattoos would give them an
advantage when they arrive to the spirit world. Most of the primitive tribes used some form of tattoos,
scarification or body painting. For the Samoan men tattooing was a right of passage to manhood.
Typical the men were tattooed on the inner and outer thigh area to look like clothing. If a boy did not
have the tattoos they were not given the same respect as a man with tattoos. They could not speak;
they could not marry and were not allow doing certain jobs. When missionaries arrived in Polynesian
lands they tried to get the Samoans to refrain from tattooing because Christianity frowned upon it. The
missionaries wanted the Samoans to live by Christ word but instead they added it to their culture. To
this day tattooing is highly respected in the Samoans culture. In Tonga is where the Samoans and the
Polynesians tattooed. Tattooing was a way of life to the Polynesians, they were tattooing even before
the Europeans came to the South Pacific. The Polynesians and Samoans had some of the most skillful
and intricate tattoos in the entire world. The tattoos typically stood for their religious beliefs and for
warfare. Most of their tattoos were geometric shapes. They were tattooed in a way so they could

One application of magnetic fields in household appliances.
One thing that uses magnetic fields is the electric motor, which is used in many household appliances,
such as electric fans, microwave ovens, and other small appliances. In this instance the electric motor
has an electric current, giving it also this magnetic field. An electric motor converts electricity into
mechanical motion. Most electric motors work by electromagnetism, but motors based on electrostatic
forces also exist. The overarching concept is that a force is generated when a current carrying element
is subjected to a magnetic field. In a cylindrical motor, the rotor rotates because a torque is developed
when this force is applied at a given distance from the axis of the rotor. Most electromagnetic motors
are rotary, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fundamental principle upon which electromagnetic motors are based is that there is a mechanical
force on any wire when it is conducting electricity while contained within a magnetic field. The force
is described by the Lorentz force law and is perpendicular to both the wire and the magnetic field. In a
rotary motor, there is a rotating element, the rotor. The rotor rotates because the wires and magnetic
field are arranged so that a torque is developed about the rotor s axis. In physics, magnetism is a
phenomenon by which materials exert an attractive or repulsive force on other materials. ... An
electrostatic motor or capacitor motor is a type of electric motor based on the attraction and repulsion
of electric charge. ... Piezoelectricity is the ability of certain crystals to produce a voltage when
subjected to mechanical stress. ... In physics, the Lorentz force is the force exerted on a charged
particle in an electromagnetic field. ... Most magnetic motors are rotary, but linear types also exist. In
a rotary motor, the rotating part (usually on the inside) is called the rotor, and the stationary part is
called the stator. The motor contains electromagnets that are wound on a frame. Though this frame is
often called the armature, that term is often erroneously applied. Correctly, the armature is that part of

Generic Competencies
The acquisition of competencies can be achieved through talent, experience or training (Verma, 2006).
The author argued talent carried as individual attributes that contribute to the competence acquisition.
As indicated by Rush (2000, p; 5) in professional nursing development, talent is associate to the
generic competencies which is underpin effective performance at all level of nursing management.
However, according to Garavan et al., (2012) talent development in management is supporting the

and generic competencies or separately. Technical competencies refer to the competencies whereby

A Fine Balance
[GRABBER] Cultural artifacts are items that give information about the culture or society of the
humans that created it. With insight to the attributes of a society, life is memorialized and proved
existent. Literature, likewise, can be a cultural artifact, as the compositions are both social evidence
and testimony. A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry gives historical insight and evidence, describing
the culture of life in India. Both the corruption of power and the sufferings of the people spread across
the pages. Written by an Indian born Canadian, the events are gruesomely true and have the purpose to
educate and create more empathetic readers. Illustrating the downfall of life in India under the

Initially, Dina Dalal is not worried about the Emergency, she feels that since she is in the middle class
she has nothing to worry about: [The Emergency is] government problems games played by people in
power. It doesn t affect ordinary people like us (83). However, immediately after the plan affects her
personally, by de housing the tailors, she changes her mind: It s terrible, government makes laws
without thinking ... the government should let homeless people sleep on the pavements. Then my
tailors wouldn t have disappeared (431). Dina represents what many of the callous middle class
citizens of Bombay feel: unworried until personally threatened. Also sharing displeased emotions with
the government is Avinash who is part of the student body within the city. Students like Avinash are
similarly subversive, fighting for better conditions in college, but more importantly for India. Avinash
reveals that the fundamental rights have been suspended, most of the opposition is under arrest, and ...
[that] the press is being censored (285). Although this group of students have more opportunities than
many other, lower class, citizens, they are just as restless. Mistry continues to share how widespread
similar emotions are by describing from the viewpoints of different social classes.

  • 2. Government Over Regulation Of The United States Camille Nelson Kline Honors English 10 10 April 2017 Government Over Regulation The United States has slowly conformed to the new ways of the Western policy of democratic socialism in order to achieve equality in the eyes of the law, but with this the necessary regulatory compliance of all citizens must be provided. If all American citizens do agree to abide by the rules implemented by the United States, the freedom that they came here for would be nonexistent, and they would no longer have the ability to truly live the infamous American dream . The economy is also beginning to move away from the capitalist ways and move toward an ideology of equality among the wealth and incomes of the people, and the only apparent way to achieve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves (Tanner 1). Joseph Stiglitz, a Nobel Prize winner, Chief Economist at Roosevelt Institute, best selling author, and a professor at Columbia University explains the problems with the current economy in the United States in his book Rewriting the Rules of the American Economy. He explains that even though the one percent of the United States population is living a prosperous life, the remaining ninety nine percent are being hurt by this reality (Stiglitz 8). From this it can be concluded that the regulations currently being pressed upon the majority of the population are hurting more than benefitting. Capitalism is defined as an economic and political system in which a country s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state (Oxford Dictionary 1). There has been a longing to find a balance between this and socialism. The laissez faire is the commonly known economic idea of a government refraining from interfering in the free market in order to allow the people to control their own means of production and selling of goods. This seems to be ruined by the over regulation of the economy by the government because much of the US economic benefits rely on the free market. Also, capitalism allows for people to voluntarily take part in making their own wealth. Without this, competition among businesses would be gone and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Pierre Elliot Trudeau s War Measures Act Just watch me are the defiant words uttered by Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau in response to the Front de liberation du Quebec (FLQ), a Marxist group captaining Quebec independence through indiscriminate political violence. His words are not those of an iron fisted strongman, despite how strong and undetailed his comments were at the time, but those of a calculated and well versed leader, whose decisions came at the behest of prominent Quebec politicians. The FLQ instilled a decade of social violence in the streets of Quebec by systemically championing the struggles of French minorities who perceived unjust treatment in everyday life. Their qualms quickly evolved from protest to a Marxist movement, which incorporated elements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... LaPorte was later killed in the first assassination since Thomas d Arcy McGee and Cross s life was traded for immunity for some FLQ members. These actions set off the only implementation of the act in non wartime eras, reinforcing the limits of justice and political process. LaPorte was not an enemy of the group, rather a Quebec minister of labour. Upon his death, it was stated, LaPorte was killed and left in the drunk of an abandoned car. In addition to the murder of LaPorte, the FLQ s actions were responsible for the deaths of seven people (Gurr, Ross, 1989). The murder of an elected diplomat, in execution style displayed the absolute, unwavering need for Trudeau to rule with absolute power. The FLQ had grown powerful enough to kill elected politicians and Trudeau needed to send a military message that there would not be a violation of Canadian ideals. The military stance was an effective message and provided necessary backup to police forces to deal with the threat of selective assassination. This response was as moral as it was military, and enforced confidence in both Canada s military, but also Trudeau. His actions could dismantle and scatter the youth of the FLQ, and brought ... • 4. Shifts in the Fatherly Relationships in Those Winter... Robert Hayden wrote about his strained relationship with his father in his childhood years. Yet, as much as Robert Hayden seemed not to appreciate his father when he was young, his father worked hard to ensure the comfort of his son, and to ready him for the adult life. This is understandable since parent child relationships often go through phases. Robert Hayden used strong language to create a tone that shifts from gratefulness to regret, painting a picture of his relationship with his father over a lifetime. In stanza 1, Robert Hayden used detail and imagery to portray the grateful tone. Hayden s father worked hard in any conditions to bring comfort to the household. Sundays too the poet s father got up early Sundays are supposed to be a day of rest for the masses, a break from the labor in the weekday . Yet, Robert s father is willing to give up his sleep and comfort for the comfort of his son. This can be thought of like a parent in the Holocaust giving up some of their rations to their son or daughter. Sacrificing common human comforts to give relief to family member is not an easy thing to do, especially facing such difficult circumstances as that, yet, often; parents are willing to do it. Robert Hayden now sees that he witnessed this in his father, and is grateful for it. Robert s father would not just have to arise early, but also put his clothes on in the blueblack cold as well. Getting rid of the cold is the very reason that the father gets up in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of The Poem Reluctance In his poem Reluctance , he talks about being in denial and reluctantly carrying on as if the relationship will fix itself. The narrator uses nature to describe the state of his relationship, both longing for healing, but unwilling and unsure of how to go about it. The poem reads, The last lone aster is gone; The flowers of the witch hazel wither; The heart is still aching to seek, But the feet question Whither? (62) The aster flower represents the absence of love and patience. Witch hazel, meaning pliant or bendable, signifies that both parties in the relationship are unwilling to be flexible and understanding of each other s wants, needs, and desires. Their hearts are aching to seek, (62) but they are in denial of any possible way to make the relationship work. The relationship between the last lone aster , witch hazel , and the narrator connect the life and death cycle that is viewable in nature to his relationship. Frost recognizes that knowledge of nature and man s self knowledge were thus interdependent. (63) By understanding this, he can apply the wisdom to his relationship. A flower, as well as a relationship, need to be tended to or will begin the wither. Nevertheless, the life of the flower or relationship is never guaranteed. In love, one must remain flexible, knowing that even as a flower begins to wither , there may still be a way to bring it back to life. No matter how much knowledge is acquired throughout a lifetime, wisdom is in knowing that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This craziness is used as a cover for a plan to kill Claudius. It is almost as if this sudden change in character causes Hamlet to garner the true characteristics of his craziness. He thinks on his feet as he contemplates, Haste me to know t, that I, with wings as swift/ As meditation or the thoughts of love/ May sweep to my revenge (I.vi.35 37). With uncertainty of trusting the ghost, while pretending to be crazy, he organizes a play, wherein I ll catch the conscious of the king (II.ii.634). Although it might seem like Hamlet inherits philosophical aspects, it is the fear that is holding him back. He procrastinates the murder of the king, as he apprehends facing death. This theme is further repeated when he says, Now might I do it pat. Now he is a praying. / And now I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven. / And so am I revenged. That would be scanned. / A villain kills my father, and, for that, / I, his sole son, do this same villain send / To heaven. / Oh, this is hire and salary, not revenge (III.iii.77 84). Hamlet begins to overthink his objective by postponing the murder. This waiting represents the fear Hamlet contains. His conscience does not allow him to follow through with the murder. These characters resemble correlative traits when Claudius ordered Hamlet to be sent to England with fear and trepidation, To bear all smooth and even, / This sudden sending him away must seem / Deliberate pause. Diseases desperate grown / By desperate appliance are relieved, / Or not at all, (IV.iii.7 11) foreseeing danger if he stayed around. Niemiec, and Charlie Briscoe (2016), they performed an experiment to show that Mindfulness Based Strengths Practice (MBSP) programs would improve the overall welfare of the lives of those who were part of the MBSP group compared to those who were in the no intervention control group. The hypothesis of this study was that, participants in the MBSP group would show higher levels of wellbeing, as predicted by higher scores on the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), Flourishing Scale (FS), the Positive Psychotherapy Inventory, and the Signature Strengths Inventory (SSI), compared to participants in the control group (Ivtzan, Niemiec, Briscoe, 2016). To perform this experiment, two groups of people were created from the general adult public. The first group was made up of twenty participants whom did not receive any intervention. The second group was made up of those that were put into the MBSP group. The MBSP group was made up of nineteen participants, which were later split into two groups, a group of nine and a group of ten. No one treated him any different than they did before because that is what he wanted, he wanted to be seen as the talented football safety, not the cancer survivor who everyone pitied. For Berry to look fear in the face and keep moving forward, it took a lot of courage and that is why he is such an influence on a lot of people. • 11. Factors Influencing Nursing Among Nurses Title: Factors influencing professionalism in nursing among nurses in a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. INTRODUCTION Statement of the problem Healthcare organizations in Saudi Arabia are very dependent on expatriate nurses to meet the demands of health staffing, a situation exacerbated by the current global nursing shortages and retention issues (Almalki, Fitzgerald, Clark, 2011). I propose to study the factors that influence the professionalism in nursing amongst nurses from different countries in a hospital in Saudi Arabia. I am particularly interested in this field as I have encountered nurses behaving unprofessionally in a hospital setting. According to Miller, Adams and Beck (1993), formal education in a university setting and education with a scientific background are critical for professionalism in nursing. A study done by Rees, Monrouxe, and McDonald (2015), expressed that while nursing students are shown professionalism through formal educational module, they ordinarily encounter workplace based professionalism dilemmas that are frequently created by registered nurses. Peer relationships in nursing is also important in maintaining the standards of professionalism (Padgett, 2013). Purpose of the study The purpose of the study is to determine the factors influencing professionalism in nursing among nurses in a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Theoretical framework The theoretical framework that I would use in this research paper is the Hall s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The US had a crucial impact in the war, supplying South Vietnam with military and economic aid to win against North Vietnam. Historians throughout the years have postulated that this is the cause for the Spanish American War; however this is deceitful. Although many articles were intentionally made to anger Americans, thus causing war, the yellow press had no effect on the decision to declare war against Spain. Throughout the book, Huxley presents a world much different than the one we are accustomed to. Some question whether the novel portrays a dystopian or utopian civilization. There are a variety of advantages and disadvantages of Huxley s world paralleled to the one we live in today. Two major disadvantages considered consist of the lack of family, monogamy, and social organization; as well as the need for soma in lieu of happiness, or rather the fake happiness it compromises. In contrast, the benefits of the society are limited. These consist of concepts behind the elimination of conflicts, commitments, and worries. Everybody observes the story from a different perspective. Knowing the gains and losses of each society, which pertain to the family system, monogamy, feelings of world peace, elimination of commitment, and the exclusion of disease, will assist a person in concluding their belief on whether each culture is flawless or severely corrupt. Some may argue that Huxley s removal of the normal family system and replacement of it with a polygamous arrangement is an enthusiastic one. However, the concept behind monogamy and family is a beautiful one. Monogamy is strength, it gives people a home and a person they can trust and believe in with their whole heart. • 18. Analysis Of Henrik Ibsen s A Doll House Henrik Ibsen s play A Doll House addresses the importance of the roles women play throughout this time period. Women are thought to be like dolls to their husbands, by obeying their commands and keeping a good image. We see the main character, Nora Helmer struggle to keep her perfect image of a great wife as troubles start to arise. Throughout the play we begin to see Nora push through her troubles and find her true identity, Nora shifts from being the loving, perfect wife, to being a strong and independent woman. Starting in Act one we see Nora Helmer as a loving, wife that likes to spend all her husband s money. Although, she asks for money quite often and seems to spend freely, she never spends the money on herself. She only purchases things for the house or her children. Nora seems like a very selfless individual whose main concerns are her family. Through the statement her husband, Torvald says that is, if you actually hung onto the money I give you, and you actually used it to buy yourself something (800), we get the impression that Nora cares more about the happiness of others than her own happiness. • 29. Literary Analysis Of Thomas Hardy s The Darkling Thrrush Thomas Hardy s poem The Darkling Thrush presents a first person speaker, staring out onto the unwelcoming frozen landscape, as he reflects on the living and un living, being on the hastened path to death and decay. Considering his title, the use of the word Darkling , meaning becoming dark, immediately, the reader is given a negative undertone. He explores the theme of death and decay of the events of the 19th century, and the 19th century itself, The Century s corpse . Also, the use of a first person narrative creates involvement and intensifies that feeling of isolation as I will explore later in the essay, along with the techniques Hardy uses, and imagery he creates. Hardy uses many techniques for the rhythm of his poem, some that work together and some that disrupt the harmonious cadence that they create. The poem is written in an iambic meter, the pace is preserved through as it has a regular iambic rhythm, alternating through trimeter and tetrameter on each line. This rhythm effects the pace of the poem, making it slow and joyless, as it creates an unsteady, eerie atmosphere by using the alternating meters, again enhancing the reader s imagery and feelings of darkness and isolation. This is also maintained through the use of alternating rhyme at the end of a line, gate [...] desolate as it presents a rhythm and almost relieves the tension that the speaker creates for the reader. However, the iambic meter and the alternating rhyme is disrupted by the use of imperfect rhyme throughout the poem, desolate [...] day this causes variation in tone and an inharmonious feel, contrasting with the regular rhythm and rhyme, intensifying the eerie feel that the descriptive language creates. Another technique Hardy uses that contributes to the tone and pace of the poem, is enjambment, [...] broken lyres / And all [...] , the way Hardy uses this in his poem creates a durable passage through time, it does this by slowing the pace of the poem down. • 30. Laundry Detergents As A Cleansing Agent Introduction Laundry detergents are a cleansing agent that is widely used in the industry to clean laundry. The term detergent refers to mixtures of chemical compounds including Alkyl Sulphonates, which are similar to soap but less affected by hard water (Farlex, 2014). Like soap, detergent increases the ability of water to penetrate fabric and break down greases and dirt, however they are derived from organic acids rather than fatty acids (Mifflin, 2005). A detergent is an ion or molecule that contains both polar and nonpolar components. The polar component allows the detergent to dissolve in the water, whereas the nonpolar component solubilizes greasy materials that are the usual target of the cleaning process. Their molecules then surround the particles of grease and dirt, allowing them to be carried away thus leaving your clothes clean. This EEI explores the performance of two different laundry powders (Fab and Woolworths select Home brand) in different types of water; ranging from soft to hard. These detergents were compared and analysed in different types of water from varying locations to determine whether water hardness has an effect on the cleaning ability of detergents, and whether products should be specifically formulated depending on the type of water. It is actually the indication that officers of the law provide suspects to ensure that they are aware of their rights before they are interrogated. It was in fact a law created after the investigations of the Miranda vs. Arizona case. The case was comparable because it was a 5 4 conclusion. The court determined that any form of evidence, may it be incriminating as well as evidence of innocence, should be considered to be proof in a case; but could only be considered whenever the police let the suspect understand that they have the right to legal representation before and also throughout questioning and that the suspect may be quiet to prevent self incrimination before an interrogation. This can be a staple whenever police arrests are done. I am going to specify the reason why I think that the Miranda Rights are not needed any longer. The Miranda Rights should no longer be needed. In this market, the borrowers are in a relatively weak position to negotiate the interest rates of their loans, being the party in need. Lenders, in accordance to the law of supply and demand, can strategically withhold money supply to increase demand and interest rates. Historically, government regulators ensured, through usury laws, that consumers were protected against financial predators (Bowsher, 1974). However, the current trend in the financing market has moved steadily towards loosening the usury laws and allowing the markets to dictate interest rates. This paper will attempt to understand this trend through a series of six questions and answers. 1. What is the main purpose of the usury law? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why did South Dakota decide to eliminate the cap on interest rates? Short answer: South Dakota decided to eliminate the cap on interest rates because it is not keeping up with the increasing costs of money and the interest cap in the state is lower than the national interest rate. In 1979, the 9 percent range mortgage loan rates had been increasing to 9.75 percent. Short term rates moved up faster (Hajek, 2004). However, the lending rates, capped by usury laws, were trailing the rapidly rising money costs nationwide. This is the time when the Federal Reserve Regulation Q had been phasing out and Chairman Paul Volcker decided to let the rates float on supply and demand forces. The South Dakota Bankers Association Legislative Committee (SDBALC) believed that eliminating the lending rate cap would let it loose to keep up with the increasing money costs. The approach was not to remove the usury law (a complex legislative move), but to gain exemption from the usury law for regulated institutions (e.g. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The mining industry produces billions of tons of raw product every year. The process of mining is very complicated and involves plenty of physics! Two main components of the mine cycle are: Drilling, and Blasting. Some important factors in mining are the pillars, rock elasticity, and the slope stability of the ground being mined. A basic method for destroying rock is mechanically induced stress, such as drills and erosion jets. A turbine drill for example, uses a turbine to rotate a diamond faced cutter wheel. It is normal for these shearers to have up to 1 megawatt of power! Blasting is used in mining to break up rock or create space. Explosives are placed in a blasting hole and then detonated. The velocity of the detonation of the explosives are enormous. The detonation of a common explosive such as ANFO (an agent consisting of ammonium nitrate prills and fuel oil) can reach velocities of 5,000 m/s in a 375 mm blasting hole. Blasting is very dangerous because it produces fragments of rock moving at high speeds called flyrock. There have been cases of flyrock weighing up to 500 kg being projected almost a full kilometer! It is often necessary for miners to take into account the resistance of rock bodies to compression and distortion when placed under stress. The ability of a body to resist forces is determined by elasticity. The three moduli of elasticity are: Young s Modulus: E= (Applied force/Area) / (Change in length/original length) Shear Modulus: G= (Applied force/unit area) / (Angular deformation) Bulk Modulus K= (Force/unit area) / (Change in volume/unit volume) Young s Modulus measures the ability of a body to resist elongation or shortening. Shear Modulus measures the ability of a body to resist a change in shape. Bulk Modulus measures the ability of a body to resist a change in volume. Because the right half of the painting shows this scene, my prediction that Reed tries to show the audience that if the animal is weak, they are going to get eaten up by animal that stronger than them, it doesn t matter whether they come from the same species or not. • 40. Evaluating the Effectiveness and Efficiency of Structured... Agarwal and Tanniru conducted a field experiment to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of structured versus unstructured interviews, using both novice and experienced interviewers. The experiment was conducted to compare the efficiency and effectiveness of the cognitive interview with the standard information requirements interview. However, the experimental results did not indicate that structured interviews enhanced recall. This triggered the experiment using the Cognitive Interview. This experiment is to test the effects that the Cognitive Interview has on memory and recall. Two hypotheses are tested in this experiment. The use of a theoretically grounded interview technique will provide a more efficient collection of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By random, a reference librarian was interviewed using either technique by an interviewer trained in both. The dependent variables: (1) the number of events elicited per each interview (efficiency), and (2) the degree of completeness of details recalled per event (effectiveness) were examined. Cognitive interview was found to be both more effective and more efficient than standard interviewing techniques in eliciting episodic knowledge from reference librarians. In order for the cognitive interview to be considered an effective interviewing technique, more than one rater must determine that the degree of completeness of details of the events collected under the CI are higher than those collected under the SI. All interviews were conducted in private rooms individually. The interviews were conducted at the institute of each patron. Ten students enrolled in a senior level expert system class who received training on the SI and the CI during regularly scheduled class time. No one involved knew of the details of the experiment or the types of techniques being tested. Interviewers received course credit and monetary compensation for their participation. The interview has long been part of the systems professional s repertoire of elicitation tools, used extensively in both requirements analysis and knowledge acquisition. It is said that there are some drawbacks associated with the use of interviews. Open interviews are seen as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Aperture Cameras Consistently Returned The Highest Net Income Aperture Cameras consistently returned the highest net income (Fig.3), which provided the base for strong earnings per share (EPS) and return on equity (REO). For example, Year 6 earnings per share was $3.57 and increased in each subsequent year, ending Year 12 at $7.25. The improved EPS was accomplished with providing consistent well thought out modifications to the business model and not significant stock repurchase. The company did strategically make annual stock repurchases starting in Year 8. Return on Equity (ROE) was maintained at a consistent weighted average of 23.7, representing the average of ROE from a low of 21.0 to a high of 27.1. Management elected to operate the company with sound business principals and avoid aggressive changes in the balance sheet and/or P L, which could dramatically swing the ROE. It was management s opinion what consistent reliable business practices would add a sense of security to the company s operations, employees and shareholders. The financial consistency of the company provided shareholders with comfort in their investment with the stock price at $43.92 in Year 6 and steadily rising to $128.11 by Year 12. As previously noted, the financial results were accomplished by providing consistent high net earnings on its operations each accounting year. The company did not incur long term debt and operated its business without having to utilized its bank operating line of credit (no interest cost), thus maintaining a healthy ... After reading the article Gen Y in the Workforce by Tamara J. Erickson it became obvious to me that there is a generation gap between the traditionalists and generation Y. I believe a number of things play a role in this gap one of which I believe is the help my generation has received from previous generations. My generation has received more help from the previous generation than they received at my age. The traditionalists in particular had to work hard and struggle to earn a nice life. Since they achieved this and do not want future generations to go through the hardships they had to endure, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. One application of magnetic fields in household appliances. One thing that uses magnetic fields is the electric motor, which is used in many household appliances, such as electric fans, microwave ovens, and other small appliances. In this instance the electric motor has an electric current, giving it also this magnetic field. An electric motor converts electricity into mechanical motion. Most electric motors work by electromagnetism, but motors based on electrostatic forces also exist. The overarching concept is that a force is generated when a current carrying element is subjected to a magnetic field. In a cylindrical motor, the rotor rotates because a torque is developed when this force is applied at a given distance from the axis of the rotor. Most electromagnetic motors are rotary, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fundamental principle upon which electromagnetic motors are based is that there is a mechanical force on any wire when it is conducting electricity while contained within a magnetic field. The force is described by the Lorentz force law and is perpendicular to both the wire and the magnetic field. In a rotary motor, there is a rotating element, the rotor. The rotor rotates because the wires and magnetic field are arranged so that a torque is developed about the rotor s axis.
