Mary Shelley Mary Shelley, Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin, was born on August 30, 1797, in
London England. Mary Shelley married young in life. She soon became Mrs. Percy Bysshe
Shelley in 1816. Two years after she was married, she officially published her most famous

The Last Man, and Mathilde. Mrs. Shelley died of brain cancer on February 1st, 1851, in

The Mechanics and Impact of Finance in the First World War...
The nations of Europe utilized all available resources at their disposal in order to fight the First
World War. The war s massive costs included mobilizing millions of soldiers over a sustained period
of time, supplying and supporting armies, and incurring other indirect costs. The war did not stop
because countries could not pay for these costs. Instead, the belligerents found different ways to
finance their war efforts. The mechanics of financing the major Entente and Central powers
impacted the fighting and the course of the war. Political and economic circumstances dictated the
form and structure of finance. In return, the war financing impacted military efforts, political policy,
and the strength of alliances.

A constitutional convention which kept the Reich out of this field and assigned it to the states was
at bottom one expression of the attempt of an old elite to keep its control of a dynamic, new
industrializing nation. Otto von Bismarck unified Germany at the expense of a decentralized and
inefficient national government authority. The states directly taxed their populations and then
contributed funds to the Reichstag making it difficult raising centralized revenue. Austria Hungary
resembled a similar decentralized structure because it was a dual monarchy comprising two areas
loosely joined together as an Empire. Similarly, the Ottoman Empire had both a weak
administrative structure accompanied by a limited fiscal base.
Taxation did not cover the daily expenses of fighting or at least not to any significant degree. At
best (in the United States and Britain), taxation paid for less than a quarter of the war s ongoing
costs; at worst (in France, Austria Hungary, and Russia) for none of them. In both nations [Britain
and France] borrowing was the largest source of government revenue, as it was in Germany and
indeed in all of the belligerents. The direct consequence provoked government reliance on debt
financing.
Britain and France had large financial credit markets, but refused access to the Central Powers
because they were enemies. The naval blockade denied Germany and its allies access to physical
imports and financing

Psychological Effects Of Trauma
Trauma is when an individual experiences an extremely stressful event that leaves a helpless and
emotionally out of control feeling. Trauma can alter an individual s behavior, this can leave an
individual unable to trust others, disconnected, and feeling numb. Trauma resort from multiple
sources such as sexual, physical, or verbal abuse, neglect, bulling, serious illness and separation
from parent. Trauma can leave an individual to struggle with unstable emotions, memory loss, and
anxiety for a large part of their lives.
The impact of traumatic events can alter the developmental and function of the brain. When
experienced a traumatic event, it can affect an individual mentally and physically. Individuals in
chronically abusive relationships, of any type of abuse have shown to experience complex
symptomatology above and beyond that of individuals experiencing one incident traumatic events.
However, some researchers have found that psychological abuse, which would qualify for PTSD
diagnosis only if physical integrity was also threatened, is as s stronger predictor than physical
abuse of trauma symptoms ( Orzeck Chin, 2010). Traumatic events such as physical abuse cause

Modern Era And Its Impact On Society
A large percentage of ancient societies were developed around the concept of patriarchy.
Maintaining these societies was a man s work, females were solely there for childbearing purposes.
Certain Northern African societies defied societal norms of the time without consciously
understanding that they were doing so. Civilizations such as the Tuareg, Berbers and Egyptians all
formed gender equal societies. The men and women of these societies lived separate lives, each
with their own distinct duties. Despite these differences they were understood to be equal at a
fundamentally basic level that other groups of the time did not comprehend. Women in select
ancient North African societies were valued by their cultures and given significant duties in their
civilization which saw them as equal members.
Matriarchy can be defined as A society in which women not only have equality with men, but also
control, power and dominance or additionally the exact opposite of patriarchy. It has been
significantly debated by researchers whether or not matriarchal societies ever existed. This doubt is
primarily based upon the lack of matriarchal societies in modern era and a significant lack of
primary sources from the generations where these societies could have existed. Northern African
societies such as Egyptians, Berbers and Tuaregs had a system of equality in their cultures, whether
matriarchal, patriarchal or neither. These societies were not based upon women nor men ruling them,

Choosing A Career At Young Age
Imagination is everything. It is the preview of lifeВґs coming attractions. (Albert Einstein)
Choosing a career at young age expands the imagination in oneВґs mind. At the age of five, my
imagination was expanding because that was all I thought about. Growing up to me meant there
would be plenty of responsibilities that would have to be taken care of. This is something that our
parents teach us while growing up. What is more important of those teachings is the significance. If
you can pursue any career path, then do it without the ideas of others. This is what I did. The
actions of others affect your thoughts. My elementary and middle schoolyears changed my
perspective of how my life would be while growing up. I experienced bullying and behaviors that
left me surprised. There were careless teachers, rude comments of how I would grow up to be,
and the words, You will never be good enough unspoken, but still meant. I would just think this
was normal, but it would continue for years. Then bad things turn for the good. I was given the
opportunity to start over by going to a new school. There I was exposed to the career of Criminal
Justice. This is where I had my mind set. The past years of bullying affected my way of making
decisions. I felt like I had to run my decisions through somebody. That somebody were my parents.
Each one of our parents dream of their childВґs future, so I was hoping we both had the same
thoughts. After being at my new school for one year, I

Violence And The Problem Of Sexual And Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence is an issue that keeps increasing. The abusers usually have issues such as,
drinking, major aggression problems, and some may even have a mental illness. In domestic
violence there are many different types of abuse that a person can go through. Domestic Violence is
the most common but there is also Sexual and Mental Violence. There are many problems that lead
up to domestic violencebut also thereВґs many solutions.
A major problem of domestic violence is the abuser is gaining control over someone and their
life. ВЁDomestic violence and abuse are used for one purpose and one purpose only: to gain and
maintain total control over you. An abuser doesn t play fair. (domestic violence)ВЁ. The abuser
(man or woman) uses fear, shame, guilt, and will use the people you love against someone. The
abuser also threatens them and hurts them and people around them that they could run to for
help. The abuser uses their fear of them, makes them feel like they re worthless, makes all the
money and isolates them from family and friends unless they are there to keep them from telling
family or friends about what s going on or leaving them.
Many abusers have a drinking problem, and this is also another big leading cause to abuse.
Research shows that drinking and alcohol abuse lead to physical aggression. People who tend to
already have a problem with anger and drink get so much worse and get out of control. ВЁAlcohol
use has been reported in between 25 percent and 85 percent

Personal Internship Analysis
Personal Internship Supervision Model
According to Loganbill, Hardy, Delworth (1982), and Stoltenberg (1981), At the advanced student
level, an essential characteristic, according to our informants and other formulations, is the student
s variable confidence, the duality of feeling confident and professionally uncertain at the same time
(as cited in Ronnestad Skovholt, 2001, p. 400). This analysis suggests that there is a probability for
an intern to feel professionally insecure and confident simultaneously. Therefore, the supervisor s
role becomes crucial.
The personal internship supervision is an integrative model where the supervisor integrates her role
of a counselor, consultant, and a teacher based on the situation or the caseload. During the
internship process, it was noticed that the supervisee felt vulnerable about the paper work, but was
confident in building therapeutic alliance with clients. Therefore, the supervisor made conscious
efforts to understand the supervisee s attitudes and conceptualizations of the problem. She
relentlessly asked questions and concerns. The supervisor provided opportunities for the supervisee
to voluntarily reflect on the each week s progress. In the case where the client appeared to be
difficult, the supervisor exemplified patience.
As stated by Ronnestad and Skovholt (2001) the development stages of the supervisee during
internship when corresponds with the relationship between therapy and supervisor helps the

impact on the basketball world like no other. Creating an image was hard for Bird; he dropped out
of Indiana University after just twenty four days because he was unable to adjust to the crowded

career to spend time at home. Bird loved his time as a garbage man, where he learned to enjoy the

Bird had a rough road to success, when Larry Bird entered the National Basketball Association
(NBA) he was the Hick from French Lick, a country boy coming to live in the big city ( Larry
Bird ). Throughout Bird s basketball career he was known as the white boy that came out of the
heart of the Indiana basketball world (Katzeff). Scouts believed that he wasn t extremely fast,
not tall enough, and not a primetime jumper. Bird proved scouts and critics all over the world
wrong due to his extreme dedication to the game. He shot five hundred free throws on a daily
basis because he knew that if he committed to becoming great, he would indeed do so. Bird spent
hours upon hours studying the finer details of the game. To become a good rebounder, he
learned all he could about how the ball would deflect off of the backboard, studying every angle
possible until he mastered the art of the rebound ( Larry Bird, 3). Larry never thought that he
was skilled enough, so he would use every off season to work through his weaknesses and
strengthen his strengths. Even though he rapidly established himself as an NBA superstar, he
always hustled for loose balls, played rugged defense, and dominated inside the paint (under the
hoop). Most big time NBA players are remembered solely for their offensive play, but not Larry
Bird. Larry described his work ethic in one of his most famous quotes, Push yourself again and
again. Don t give an inch until the final buzzer sounds ( Larry Bird ) Bird was truly an
inspiration to all, without hardly any naturally given talents, he was able to prove to the entire
world that a little bit of practice can go a long way. With a work ethic like no other, Larry Bird will
be remembered for an eternity by friends, family, fans, and people all over the

Robert Moses Accomplishments
If there is one person who has left his impact on this century, it s a man named Robert Moses.
Moses had a vision of what New York City should look like and how it should function, and
through determination and ingenuity he transformed our culture. Moses was at the time the
only public official who not only had grand ideas, but also figured out ways to pay for them. He
did this by establishing a series of public authorities, which allowed him to make decisions as if
he was the CEO of a private company. Transforming New York into the urban landscape that we

Teen Mothers And The Rates Of Teen Pregnancy
According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), The United States ranks first among
developed nations in rates of both teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (Stanger
Hall, Kathrin F., and David W. Hall, paragraph 1). In 2015, there were a total of 229,715 babies
born to teen moms between the ages of 15 19 (Reproductive Health: Teen Pregnancy, paragraph 1).
It is not just becoming a problem; it has been a problem for a while. It does not help the problem
when there are reality television shows making it look glamorous to be a young mom. Shows like
Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant makes it seem like no matter what goes wrong, everything always
ends happily ever after. Unfortunately, for most people (teen moms included) life is not a fairy
tale, not everyone gets a happily ever after.
There are many reasons why we need to decrease teen pregnancy rates. The first of which is the
economic costs. According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) In 2010, teen
pregnancy and childbirth accounted for at least $9.4 billion in costs to U.S. taxpayers for increased
health care and foster care, increased incarceration rates among children of teen parents, and lost tax
revenue because of lower educational attainment and income among teen mothers (Reproductive

The Rna Guided Crispr Cas9 System
The RNA guided CRISPR Cas9 system has revolutionized genetic engineering by allowing
targeted genomic modification through the simple design of a 20 base pair guiding sequences.
This groundbreaking technology utilizes a short guide RNA (sgRNA) to direct the Cas9
nuclease to a specific genomic locus through complementary base pairing. The guide RNA or
sgRNA is responsible for the specificity of the CRISPR Cas9 system, and several consideration
need to be taken during its design process. In bacteria and archaea, the crRNA and tracrRNA
form a complex which acts as the homing device for directing the Cas9 nuclease to the invading
foreign genetic materials. The tarcrRNA s scaffolding ability along with the specificity of the
crRNA can be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

potential off target effects: Mismatch tolerance between the gRNA and target site is what leads

CRISPR is especially useful, because, unlike ZNF or TALEN, they rely on a guide RNA or

which makes CRISPR much more versatile, cheaper and easier to use. ZNF and TALEN required

Political Advocacy in Anarchist Punk Music Essay
Political Advocacy in Anarchist Punk Music
Anarchist political advocacy has been a driving force in punk music since its emergence in the
1970s. Although the basic philosophy has remained unchanged, punks have significantly altered the
ways they espouse their beliefs, over time becoming more militant and directly confrontational with
those that hold power. This paper attempts use quantitative and qualitative analysis to determine
how significantly anarcho punk political advocacy has changed between the early 1980s and present
day. Additionally, this paper argues that increased militancy is a byproduct of the progressive

Deviance In Psychology
Entry 7
Drugs were not acceptable for cool girls. Drugs however, were acceptable and even encouraged for
boys. I know one female who smoked pot, all the other cool females ostracized her, called her a
druggie . I know one guy who refused to try pot, and the cool guys called him a wuss (that means
wimp), and didn t ask him out to party anymore (pg 145).
The limit of what is socially acceptable for each gender to participate in seems to not exist for
males, however for females, reaching this point does not require much deviance. Deviance is
defined as any violation of norms. It is clear that the use of drugs is very gender specific, and if
identify as other than a male, informal sanctions are certain to occur from peers and parents. On ...

This is the feeling of disorientation upon venturing into a very different and unknown culture.
The difference between locations is referred to as cultural variation. This term relates to
behaviors such as ethnocentric attitudes, xenocentrism, and cultural relativism among others.
The sight of the seemingly countless designer possessions most peers owned in the same state
where she resides showed how drastically different two cultures can be within a distance of a
few miles. Her shock was the product of being exposed to two opposing cultures in a state she
previously believed was culturally very similar throughout. As a toddler, I made a similar move
from the city of Chicago to Deerfield, and while I have no memory of the cultural transition,
upon inquiring my parents, the differences were vaguely similar to the specific one s the girl in
the passage noticed. Reasoning for as to why the girl felt more poor within the suburbs as
compared to the city can be explained by relative poverty. This means what is considered to be
the poverty line or poor in one area may differ from the poverty line within another area.
Essentially, the area one lives is is generally relative to resources accessible to them, which is
relative to their social class/stratification. While the family of the girl may have been a middle or
upper middle class family within the city, her social class significantly dropped once

Philadelphia 76ers Case Study
The Philadelphia 76ers announced on Wednesday that they exercised team options on point
guard T.J. McConnell and forward Richaun Holmes. Both players are now under contract for the
2018 19 season and set to make a $1.6 million non guaranteed salary. However, they could
become unrestricted free agents next offseason, if not signed to an extension. It does not come as
a surprise to see the Sixers pick up both players fourth year options. They both played an integral
role in helping the team win basketball games over the years and ultimately making the NBA
playoffs this season. Last month, former Sixers general manager Bryan Colangelo told reporters

In its early years, GEICO was a small company that specialized in selling insurance to a small

senior military officers. As a non military person, Goodwin saw that his opportunities for
advancement into upper management at USAA were limited and he struck out on his own in 1936.

The organization known as AARP was originally the American Association of Retired People but
has dropped the full name for the less specific initials, an oft used strategy by groups or
corporations that are trying to broaden their markets, their customer base, or their appeal. How
many of us remember what the initials IBM, PPG, or SAS once meant? AARP has long sought
to include all people aged 50 or more, regardless of their employment status. Given the size of
the baby boom cohort AARP has a large pool of potential members and readers of their
magazine, which until 2002 was known as Modern Maturity. Images promted by that name, like
those caused by the former full association name probably cried out for something that sounded

Frankenstein And The Modern Prometheus
Introduction Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is a sci fi novel composed by Mary
Shelley. This is the story of a science understudy, Victor Frankenstein, who made a beast amid
one of his trials. This beast ends up being an inconvenience for Victor. The creature depicted as a
living being with all the emotions and feelings, and his appearance of beast was a huge issue
when he felt that individuals dreaded him, and they abhor him. He would not like to murder
individuals; indeed he attempted to spare a young lady, yet because of dread a man attempted to
execute him as a beast. Victor s sibling additionally attempted to shout when he saw him, in his
endeavor to keep the kid calm, he strangled the kid. To stay away from all these killings, he asked
Victor to make him a female with the goal that he can leave this spot with his mate and will never
come in broad daylight. Victor concurred, however when he understood the results of this entire
type of creatures, he slaughtered the fragmented female. Creature attempted to take reprisal and
murdered Victor s wives. The story was an incredible achievement and confronted negative
feedback before all else. Commentators consider it as a sickening awfulness story; however with its
prosperity it got different positive remarks. Thesis Statement The strongest topic in this novel that
changed the critics perspectives is the subject of alienation. Discussion One of the reactions

Cell Theory
Cell Theory is a way to describe the biology of living things. Cell theory says that the cell is the
basic unit of life. Cells by themselves are alive, but they can also be part of a larger living thing.
The smallest living organisms (like bacteria but not viruses) and the biggest ones (like humans
and whales) are all made of cells. Very small organisms like bacteria and amoebas are only made
of one cell each, so they are called unicellular organisms ( uni means one ). Larger organisms are
made of many cells, and they are called multicellular organisms.
Definition: The Cell Theory is one of the basic principles of Biology. Credit for the formulation of
this theory is given to German scientists Theodor Schwann, Matthias ... Show more content on

Questions On Teaching And Classical Players
This article discusses 8 vital things to remember as improvisers whether advanced or just getting
started:
1. Your technique is probably miles ahead of your ability to think.
This isn t just true for classical players. I ve known lots and lots (and lots) of jazz players who
have let their technique run the show as opposed to their brains.
Happens all the time.
With players who are just beginning to improvise, this is vital to keep in mind. Slow down! Even at
furious tempi, you can long meter melodic phrases that dance and skip over the fast tempo thinking
them in real time. And you can have great precision and musicality in doing so.
FYI, most players who play so fast you are asking yourself how can they think that stuff in real
time probably aren t really thinking that stuff in real time. Most are performing a memorized, yet
impressive move. Sort of a human software, sub routine call. To me, not the real thing.
Personally, I d rather listen to simple ideas that are inspired than impressive, over thought, over
prepared ideas any day. Particularly when they are masquerading as
improvisation.
2. You will be playing unexpected notes (mistakes) in the best of situations.
Yes, I know, we re supposed to KNOW what we are doing. But to get good at anything, we have to
stretch, and stretching means taking risks, and taking risks means making mistakes.
Over time, you really will be able to hear a melody and execute it flawlessly. But by then, you ll be

Summary Of The Aleph And The Garden Of Forking Paths
Postmodernism was a period that challenged the validity of accepted knowledge as social
constructs through explorations of different possibilities. Most of Borges s work follow similar
patterns and themes that capture the essence of Postmodernism by examining various philosophical
ideas of time and space. Specifically, in The Alephand The Garden of Forking Paths , Borges plays
with the idea of the infinite in various ways throughout each narrativein order to plant a similar idea
in the readers minds. [fix that last sentence] [body #1: talk about how he talks about infinities
differently through different writing styles (aleph: more personal style)] In both short stories,
Borges explores into the idea of multiple pathways and views in a single position. In The Aleph,
Borges himself is the main character who is given the opportunity to view the world and all its
possibilities in a basement. The focus of the story seems to be on the ability to see infinite points
from a single point. The Garden of Forking Paths explores the same idea through the discussion of
a book that also serves the purpose of a labyrinth. Though it does deal with the same conceptof
multiple pathways from a single point, The Garden of Forking Paths seem to apply more emphasis
on the actual concept of multiple pathways through thorough discussion and explanation of the
idea. [insert quote on how the book is a labyrinth] [While the The Aleph seems to discuss the idea

The Communist Manifesto, By Karl Marx And Emile Durkheim
Modernity has impacted many areas of day to day life in the 20th century, from the way that
society interacts with each other in the form of technology to the use of language and even the
way that members of society are expected to live their lives, with there being less of a balance
between work and leisure time in the modern area than ever before. This essay will look at what
has lead today s society to be where it currently is while analyzing the work of Karl Marxand Emile
Durkheim.
Clear history of theorists (3 4 lines) Marx Durkheim.
The Communist Manifesto, published the following year. In it, the two philosophers depicted all
of history as a series of class struggles (historical materialism), in this Marx predicted that the
upcoming proletarian revolution would sweep aside the capitalist system for good, making the
workingmen the new ruling class of the world.
Karl Marx was one of sociology greatest thinkers and philosophers, one of his most famous
pieces of work was das kapitial which has been linked heavily as a first part of the volume for the
working class, although Marx did not live to see his ideas on communism happen. however, his
writings did go on to form the base of modern communism (bbc history),
Emile Durkheim on the other hand has often been called one of the founding fathers of sociology,

Arguments About Refugees
What if someone told you that you weren t welcome somewhere because you weren t originally
from that certain place? Multiple people are told this every day, and many people are let down
every day because of this. Accepting refugees is one of the major problems in the United States
right now. I think that this problem is a very large problem that we have in the United States.
America tends to have this problem because there are many different opinions on this topic.
Some may argue that refugees should not be allowed into our country because they have many
risks. This argument is distinguished from others because it will affect the way we live. In other
words, we have many generations to come and when they come to the age where they are able to
vote and help make federal decisions they will be able to take consideration of what views people
have on this highly debated topic. But others may argue that they should be allowed into our
country because they could be a good addition. I think refugees should be allowed into the United
States under some certain conditions. One reason they should be allowed into the United States is
that refugees could make a positive impact on our economy. If we allow them into our country they
should be vetted to make sure that they are mentally and physically healthy to be around. Finally, if
they wantto be a part of our country they should follow the process of becoming a citizen of the

Paul comes with a thought of purchasing two franchises instead of one because he realizes there
are 13 of the franchisees have multiple stores. The reason behind having multiple stores is
because Mr. Paul thinks the start up costs and operating expenses would be no higher than for a
single store operation. Mr. Paul has two friends in mind that he would think would be a great
partner to operate the franchise. Two of his friends will purchase a minority equity position of the
franchise and it would be a great help for Mr. Paul because he would have additional capital.
City A, B or Both There are two existing locations that are available for Mr. Paul. One of the
stores is located in City A and the other one is located in City B. Both cities have different
advantages and disadvantages. Store that is located in City A is currently in franchise operation
but the owner is planning to sell the franchise on the market due to family problems. Size of the
store is inexpertly smaller than he has imagined. However, many people describe the location as
the only good retail location in the city. On the other hand, the store in City B is located in one
of the newest malls in an area surrounded by upscale housing and extensive development. In term
of size, store in City B is much bigger compare to the store in City A. Mr. Paul is certain that both
of these stores would be well above his expectation for start up operations. He also owns a house in

Caribbean Literature 1900 1929 In the Caribbean, specifically Jamaica, during the year of 1900
1929 there were two poets whose work truly stood out and made a statement. Those poets were
Thomas Redcam (1870 1933) and Claude McKay (1878 1972). Thomas Redcam was a Jamaican
poet who came from Irish ancestry. Throughout his life he promoted Jamaican literature and was a
notable poet. He was seen as helpful and encouragement to younger poets during that time period
including Claude McKay. Both poets had such a lovefor their country and made it clear in their

Though you cas me from your breas An trample me to deaf; My heart will trus you none de less,
My land I won t forget (McKay, 64). McKay makes it clear that he will never lose his faith in
Jamaica as well. In this poem Jamaica McKay believes that his country Jamaica is one that can do
no wrong.
Once again the ideas of nature, faith and love continue in his next poem Flame Heart but this
time the idea of nature becomes the more predominant one. In this work Mckay speaks how he
returns back to Jamaica. Throughout the poem he mentions aspects of nature in the land that he
can not recall but then mentions the one part of the land he remembers so vividly. McKay
speaks of poinsettia plants he remembers so well. He speaks of their beauty and color, I have
forgotten much, but I still remember The poinsettia s red, blood red in warm December (McKay,
70). He speaks so vividly of this one aspect of nature and not only does he mention the beauty of it,
he dives even deeper when mention of climate comes in. This statement about the poinsettia is
mentioned a few times in the poem giving off a strong vibe and conviction. Everything to the
speaker is a blur but through his blurs he is able to remember that red blood poinsettia plant in
warm December month.
In his last poem I Shall Return McKay touches upon all three themes in such strong points. This
poem speaks of someone who has left Jamaica but has intentions of returning. It speaks of how their

Senate Meetings Between The Republican And Democrat Party...
While watching the committee meetings between the Republican and Democrat party
committee I noticed many things that were the same while also observing many things that
were different. Every four years, the Democratic Party puts together our party platform, the
ideas and beliefs that govern our party as a whole. Not only does each party take certain stances
on specific issues , they also have a different guidelines and atmospheres surrounding them that
affects their decisions. Republicans are normally more conservative, their primary focus is
directed more towards a limited influence on government and a dominant foreign policy. They
are also for religion, anti beauracracy , and pro military. As to where Democrats are considered
to be more liberal and adhere to more improving the quality of people lives to achieve equality.
Although there were a handful of things to pick from that were different with each party they
were similar in how they incorporated their policy s and laws. They both voted by raise of hands
and saying yay or neigh to the topic. The first committee video I decided to watch was the
Republican committee, which was a short video compared to democratic video. During the video
they spoke about the first amendment, and asked delegate Wilson to present his ideas. they
presented the amendment on the screen and spoke about what should be changed. The amendment
spoke about how he felt that children should be raised in an intact biological family household.

Clearly, this poster supports the war efforts by encouraging the people of Canada to refrain from
talking about war, as spies that are associated with enemy countries could listen to their
conversations relating to war, and the spies could implement this information into their own war
plans. Therefore, this is a major issue that concerns Canada as Canadian civilians could leak out
unwanted knowledge to the enemy countries. The historical knowledge that the viewer must need

NURS 411.01 Issues and Leadership in Nursing
Delaware State University
The nursing shortage in healthcare has been a highlighted issue for many years. With the ever
growing health care system, hospitals and healthcare facilities often find themselves searching for
ways to acquire new nurses and retain their very own. Throughout the years, the number one
solution to this problem remains the same: decreasing nurse turnover, and increasing nurse
retention. This paper discusses the causes of high nurse turnover rate, the negative effects on health
care, and ways to improve the turnover rate. Before we can examine the consequences of high
nurse turnover, we must examine the reasons nurses choose to leave their employer and look
elsewhere for work.
According to Hunt (2009), feeling overworked is the number one cause for nurse turnover in health
care settings. Other reasons at the top of the list include, lack of support from employers and few
opportunities for advancement. Due to the nursing shortage, staffing has been an issue in many
healthcare facilities. As a result, units are consistently short staffed, causing nurses to feel
overworked and unsupported by management. Cline (2004) highlighted nurse frustration when a
participant in the study stated, When you re constantly short staffed and feel your managers aren t

The Main Reasons For The Fall Of Tsar Nicholas II In 1917
Was the impact of WW1 the main reason for the fall of Tsar Nicholas II in 1917?
The fall of the Romanov Dynasty in 1914 proved that the Tsar could not handle the problems of
Russia. Ironically, he would have been ideal as a constitutional monarch, but was adamant against
the idea. As the First World War started Russias problems arises, from short term and long term
causes. The war brought back inflation which led to demonstrations over food shortages
combined with workers grievances, (Hosking, 2012, p. 91) thus this destroyed Nicholas s image
as Father of Russia. Military became ineffective as the transport system was not adequate, thus
leading to food supplies decreasing in key cities such as Petrograd. Historians believe the
impacts of the First World War led to Russian society becoming unstable and was ultimately the
main reason of the downfall of the Tsar. However other factors, such as the Tsarina placing large
amounts of trust into Rasputin who was notorious for his reputation as an alcoholic and a
womanizer (Westwood, 2002, p. 215) and the role of the revolutionaries due to Lenin promising
peace, land and bread, eventually leading to the growth of the Bolsheviks Party. Although, it can
most rightfully be deemed that the impact of the war was the main reason for the fall of Tsar
Nicholas II in 1917.

Social Impact Of Industrialization In Germany
Mia Allen
HST 102
Paper 1: Industrialization in Germany and its Social Impact
The industrialization of cities, such as Berlin, greatly increased the price of living for the
working class. Because of this, children who were a cheap source of labor, were often times
expected to work daily for meager earnings. This process is exhibited in the engraving titled
Orphan Girls and Boys in a Welfare Institution. The images are set in Germany in 1846 and
display orphaned girls working in a sewing factory and boys working in a textile factory. This
depiction of boys and girls speaks volumes about gender roles when it comes to social standing
and job opportunities. In addition, these images show a very idealized version of child labor and
industrialization and argue that children should be a source of cheap labor to reduce the cost of
production and be separated based on sex. Many other sources such as Dronke s Excerpts from
Berlin and The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels juxtapose this
interpretation. The conflicting viewpoints of industrialization and gender roles will hence be
analyzed in relation to the engraving and child labor in Germany in the 1800s.
The industrial revolution began in England in the 1770s and expanded to areas in Prussia and
Bohemia by the 1840s. The scope of industrialization was huge and forever changed the landscape
of modern society by increasing production, national wealth, and technological advancement.
However, it also resulted

Introduction
Ceratopteris richardii, known as a C fern has a lifecycle referred to as alteration of generations,
which consist of neither haploid nor diploid dominant. C ferns are homospours plants which are
important in that they can produce hermaphrioditic gametophytes in order to be able to self
fertilize. However, some of the homospourous C ferns only produce male gametophytes .The life
cycle of Ceratopteris richardii starts as a diploid sporophyte which then, by meiosis, produces
haploid spores. These spores then undergo mitosis to produce a haploid gametophyte, which can be
either hermaphrodite( producing eggs and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Results The graph of our results showed the percentage of male gametophytes increasing and then
leveling off (Figure 1). This was our trend because most of the points followed this pattern,
however; there was a potential outlier at point (68, 32.3). The distribution of gametophytes on the
culture plates varied. Plates A and F had even distribution but were very crowed with gametophytes,
while plates D and C were evenly distributed but had less gametophytes. Plate E had clumping of
gametophytes in the top left corner and plate B had clumping the the bottom right corner.
Figure 1. The relationship between the population density and the percentage of male gametophytes.
Discussion
The prediction that the percentage of male gametophytes would increase as the population density
of the gametophytes increased, and the prediction that the percentage of male gametophytes would
decrease as the population density of the gametophytes increased were not supported by our results.
When the population density was low, the percentage of male gametophytes was relatively low
because there would not be enough eggs to fertilize the sperm produced from both the
hermaphrodite, and the sperm produced by the male gametophyte. When the population density was
high, the percentage of male gametophytes was higher but still less than fifty percent because of the
same reasons. The data from our results did support our

White Characters In The Great Debaters In The Great Debaters
During the mid 1930 s, racism against coloured people was a very prominent topic in America.
In the Film The Great Debaters created by Denzel Washington and Oprah Winfrey, the debate
team and their fellow African Americans are truly discouraged by the white characters.
However, these ambitious individuals decide to stick to their goals and push for success. James
is one of the main protagonists in the film who progressively becomes more confident. The
whole team also perceived racism and hate in such a way that made them want to bring change
in their own, and their people s lives. Despite oppression, the film demonstrates that the minority
are still motivated to succeed. James Farmer Jr. is arguably a very insecure individual, although,
as the film progresses his confidence does as well. To begin, James stood up against his father
when his father made inaccurate assumptions about him. For instance, when James came home
late at night, his father thought that he had been out with a girl and drinking. He used to be a
nervous child who would just listen and apologize to his father right away. However,
progression is shown in James character when he decides to protest against his father s false
accusations. He displayed a lot of emotion to get his message across as he showed tears and even
raised his voice. Evidently, James shows that he now has a voice as he now decides to go against
his father s wrong claims. He believes that he needs to stand up for himself as a result of

in his fist as a sign from the Gods saying that he was going to be a fierce leader. The Mongol
Empire had a major Positive impact on History and their people, including the Large rule of the
Mongols, the Pax Mongolica, and lastly the Pony Express.
Genghis Khan had fought his way to the top after successfully winning battle after battle. His
amazing strategies would later shape and develop the Mongol Empire. Genghis Khan would rule
over 12 million acres of land, more than any individual in history. But even after his death his
ancestors would still be successful. His sons and grandsons would continue his dream of fully

They forced law and order into their Empire. This period is often known as the Pax Mongolica
(Mongol Peace). It was guaranteed that the people were safe while making trade and spreading
ideas throughout their land. Trade was boosted during the Mongol Empire, between Europe and
Asia ideas, inventions, and goods were all passed along the region. Examples like Gunpowder,
weapons, cloth, pearls, carpets, leather goods, silver, live stock, (etc,) could all be found on
these trade routes. Laws like the Yassa (Great law) were put in effect, they made sure that tribal
disputes didn t break out into war. The laws were a major part in trading as well to keep the flow
of goods flowing smoothly, theft and rustling were outlawed and people were punished severely if
they were caught doing these acts so hardly never were there any issues at all making the region a

Ambition By Gary Soto Summary
Gary Soto, who among many things was a Mexican American poet, many times wrote about
what he knew best: his life. Growing up as a Chicano in America in the 50s and 60s, Soto
worked in fields as a laborer from a young age. It is evident that coming from a Hispanic working
class family greatly influenced his poem Ambition . As he is known for, Soto s poem is filled
with imagery of everyday life, while harping on important details and themes of things that he
may have seen around him., but in this instance, there was a bit of confusion. To begin with, the
poem Ambition starts off with the line For years our ambition was to eat/Chicken (1 2). Without
further analysis, at this point the reader is most likely confused, much like I was. Chicken? How
could eating be one s goal, one s aspiration in life? The word ambition is usually associated with
lofty goals. It would not seem out of place to say that one s ambition was to become a doctor or
to make a better life for oneself. So the speaker in the poem could not truly believe that all that he
wanted in life was to eat chicken. The outlandishness of this statement seems to be the speaker
pointing huge arrows towards places in the poem that invoke deeper meaning to... Show more

Cats are said to have nine lives, to have multiple, or one might say an abundance of chances to
get things right or to live. The actual cats came looking for food and in the last line of the poem
it says the cats can to us for/The love of chicken, but love all the same. (40 41). If the members of
this story are the cats, the speaker seems to be saying that, as I paraphrased in my pre write, that
although seemingly shallow, the love of something superficial like food or chicken was validated
because it was still love. Although superficial, the love of food translates to a love of a nessesity
for life which is an accpetable

Dean Smith Potholes Research Paper
On the night of May 23rd, 2015, a 15 year old boy walked home from a party. He was so
intoxicated, that he didn t know where he was going. The boy wandered onto Outer Ring Road
and he fell into a pothole. The pothole was so deep, that the 15 year old ended up in China. On
May 28th, the boy returned home. During his few days in China, the 15 year old boy learned to
speak Google Translated Chinese. 我иЁ
ЋеЋйЂ™дє›еќ‘жґј he said. Translation: I hate these
potholes. On June 23rd, 2015, another man fell down a pothole. Dean Smith hit a massive pothole,
while driving through Topsail Road. This pothole was so huge that it engulfed his entire vehicle,
which was a 1969 Impala. However, Smith did not end up in China. Instead, he ended up in Nazi
Germany. This was really bad news for Mr. Smith considering that he s gay, transgender, Jewish,
and African Canadian. Luckily, Smith manage to return to 21st Century Canada without the Nazis
noticing. However, he did leave his Impala... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After running scientific experiments, scientists have concluded that about 50% of these potholes
lead to various points in time, space, and dimension. For months, scienctists had no clue why.
That until now. Back in May of 2015, the Steve Harrison Institute of Technology (S.H.I.T) has
developed a new piece of technology to help students with their spelling, grammar, and
punctuation. It s called Spellcheck 2.0. Every time a student misspells a world, or uses incorrect
punctuation or grammar, they will recieve and electrical shock. English teachers are thrilled about
this about this new technology. I feel like I m wasting my time teaching said one English Teacher,

Interpreting Concepts of The World Is Flat Essay
The phrase: the world is flat can be interpreted in many ways. Basically what Friedman means by
flat is linked. The falling of trade and political barriers and technical advances have made it
possible to do business, instantaneously with billions of other people around the world. It has
allowed for parts of the world, which had previously been cut off, like China and India, to
successfully compete in the world market. Thus, the playing field is being leveled, and no one
nation has an advantage. Friedman could also refer to a flat world in a metaphorical sense. In a
spherical earth you cannot see around the world and cannot recognize the opportunities far from
where you live. If the world were flat you could see it all. There... Show more content on

In the new global economy, the US may no longer easily dominate. As a result of the flat world,
new parts of the world are beginning to successfully compete. Two of the more powerful ones are
India and China. These emerging nations are now competing not just for low wage manufacturing
and information labor but, increasingly, for the highest end research and design work as well. As
Friedman mentions in his triple convergence, roughly 3 billion people from India, Russia, Eastern
Europe, Latin America and Asia are now joining this, plug and play world in which they can
basically compete and collaborate equally. While these nations certainly pose a threat to historical
U.S. and European prosperity and power, the proper response is not to fight it, but rather to
embrace it, in order to thrive in the new world.
The ten flatteners in The World is Flatare 11/9/89, 8/9/95, work flow software, uploading,

11/9/89: The Berlin Wall for many years served as a barrier between West Berlin and East
Germany. It prevented a global view of the future as well by forcing the population of East
Germany to be totally secluded from the rest of the world. The fall of the Berlin wall on 11/9/89
changed everything. Not only did this weaken communism, it tipped the balance of power across
the world towards democratic advocacy, consensual governance and a free market economy. The

The Characteristics Of Hamlet From Hamlet And Walter White...
A Byronic hero is an anti hero of the highest order. In the seventeenth century, William Shakespeare
wrote the play Hamlet. Four centuries later, the television show Breaking Bad aired. Even with
though these two pieces of media were written hundreds of years apart they still shared something
in common, their main character was a Byronic hero. Hamlet from Hamlet and Walter White from
Breaking Bad display the characteristics of an ultimate antihero. They are Byronic heroes
because each have a troubled backstory, each are anti heroes, both are criminals, have high
intelligence and useful skills, and have deep rooted psychological and emotional issues. Each
character had to experience their own trauma to which led them to become the Byronic heroes
that they are. Hamlet s father, King Hamlet, was murdered by his uncle, Claudius, in cold blood.
While still in grief, his mother married Claudius no less than two months after the King s
passing. Walter White fifty year old man who is an overqualified chemistry teacher who has to
watch the world pass him up everyday. He must also humiliatingly work at a car wash to make
extra money to provide for his pregnant wife and his sixteen year old son who has been
diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Decades ago he started a multi billion company but sold his
share early in the business for a mere five thousands dollars. Then to make it all worse, Walter
White was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on his fiftieth birthday. Byronic heroes typically
have a troubled or empathetic backstory like Hamlet and Walter do. Their experiences affected
them both deeply enough that their personas would change throughout the course of their stories
and lead them to become more of a dark hero and then more villain like. Hamlet started to go
down a spiral of madness whilst debating on whether or not to commit suicide while Walter went
down his own spiral of slowly losing himself, his family, and his morals. Since a Byronic herois a
the ultimate antihero, one of the qualifications to be a Byronic hero is to be an antihero. They are
typically realists rather than idealists. Realist access situations and examining the facts without
using their emotions while idealists see situations with a

The Human Cost Of Natural Disasters
Tropical storms are an incredible threat to humanity. The International Disaster Database (EM
DAT) recorded 6,873 natural disasters worldwide, which claimed 1.35 million lives or almost
68,000 lives on average each year (The Human Cost of Natural Disasters 2015). Although
shelters are of great use, this form of relief requires days and often weeks to establish.
Additionally, shelters must be built by people and assembling teams of volunteers is not always
easy or time efficient. This pertinent issue combined with the leftover metal containers from the
shipping industry is a blessing in disguise. This trash scattered across the world has allowed
some individuals to make elaborate designs. For example, incorporating multiple containers to
mimic a permanent house. To quickly provide assistance to those negatively affected by tropical
storms, mobile relief shelters shall be made from recycled shipping containers. My proposal is
to design a fleet of specially crafted, repurposed shipping containers that will be stored on a ship
owned by the UN. These 20 or 40 foot housing shelters are designed to house maximum
occupants and to be deployable within a matter of hours after a storm takes place. This ready
reserve vessel will have to ability to be activated within a minutes notice. This fast response feature
will ease stress in the devastating and intense times of a tropical storm. Upon arrival, the ship will
have its own cranes and booms to unload the shelters shore

The war s massive costs included mobilizing millions of soldiers over a sustained period of time, supplying and supporting armies, and incurring other indirect costs. The war did not stop because countries could not pay for these costs. Instead, the belligerents found different ways to finance their war efforts. The mechanics of financing the major Entente and Central powers impacted the fighting and the course of the war. Political and economic circumstances dictated the form and structure of finance. A constitutional convention which kept the Reich out of this field and assigned it to the states was at bottom one expression of the attempt of an old elite to keep its control of a dynamic, new industrializing nation. Otto von Bismarck unified Germany at the expense of a decentralized and inefficient national government authority. The states directly taxed their populations and then contributed funds to the Reichstag making it difficult raising centralized revenue. Austria Hungary resembled a similar decentralized structure because it was a dual monarchy comprising two areas loosely joined together as an Empire. Similarly, the Ottoman Empire had both a weak administrative structure accompanied by a limited fiscal base. Taxation did not cover the daily expenses of fighting or at least not to any significant degree. At best (in the United States and Britain), taxation paid for less than a quarter of the war s ongoing costs; at worst (in France, Austria Hungary, and Russia) for none of them. In both nations [Britain and France] borrowing was the largest source of government revenue, as it was in Germany and indeed in all of the belligerents. The direct consequence provoked government reliance on debt financing. Britain and France had large financial credit markets, but refused access to the Central Powers because they were enemies. • 6. Modern Era And Its Impact On Society A large percentage of ancient societies were developed around the concept of patriarchy. Maintaining these societies was a man s work, females were solely there for childbearing purposes. Certain Northern African societies defied societal norms of the time without consciously understanding that they were doing so. Civilizations such as the Tuareg, Berbers and Egyptians all formed gender equal societies. The men and women of these societies lived separate lives, each with their own distinct duties. Despite these differences they were understood to be equal at a fundamentally basic level that other groups of the time did not comprehend. Women in select ancient North African societies were valued by their cultures and given significant duties in their civilization which saw them as equal members. Matriarchy can be defined as A society in which women not only have equality with men, but also control, power and dominance or additionally the exact opposite of patriarchy. It has been significantly debated by researchers whether or not matriarchal societies ever existed. This doubt is primarily based upon the lack of matriarchal societies in modern era and a significant lack of primary sources from the generations where these societies could have existed. (Albert Einstein) Choosing a career at young age expands the imagination in oneВґs mind. At the age of five, my imagination was expanding because that was all I thought about. Growing up to me meant there would be plenty of responsibilities that would have to be taken care of. This is something that our parents teach us while growing up. What is more important of those teachings is the significance. If you can pursue any career path, then do it without the ideas of others. This is what I did. The actions of others affect your thoughts. My elementary and middle schoolyears changed my perspective of how my life would be while growing up. I experienced bullying and behaviors that left me surprised. There were careless teachers, rude comments of how I would grow up to be, and the words, You will never be good enough unspoken, but still meant. I would just think this was normal, but it would continue for years. Then bad things turn for the good. I was given the opportunity to start over by going to a new school. There I was exposed to the career of Criminal Justice. This is where I had my mind set. The past years of bullying affected my way of making decisions. Personal Internship Analysis Personal Internship Supervision Model According to Loganbill, Hardy, Delworth (1982), and Stoltenberg (1981), At the advanced student level, an essential characteristic, according to our informants and other formulations, is the student s variable confidence, the duality of feeling confident and professionally uncertain at the same time (as cited in Ronnestad Skovholt, 2001, p. 400). This analysis suggests that there is a probability for an intern to feel professionally insecure and confident simultaneously. Therefore, the supervisor s role becomes crucial. The personal internship supervision is an integrative model where the supervisor integrates her role of a counselor, consultant, and a teacher based on the situation or the caseload. During the internship process, it was noticed that the supervisee felt vulnerable about the paper work, but was confident in building therapeutic alliance with clients. Therefore, the supervisor made conscious efforts to understand the supervisee s attitudes and conceptualizations of the problem. She relentlessly asked questions and concerns. The supervisor provided opportunities for the supervisee to voluntarily reflect on the each week s progress. Both players are now under contract for the 2018 19 season and set to make a $1.6 million non guaranteed salary. However, they could become unrestricted free agents next offseason, if not signed to an extension. It does not come as a surprise to see the Sixers pick up both players fourth year options. Cells by themselves are alive, but they can also be part of a larger living thing. The smallest living organisms (like bacteria but not viruses) and the biggest ones (like humans and whales) are all made of cells. Very small organisms like bacteria and amoebas are only made of one cell each, so they are called unicellular organisms ( uni means one ). Larger organisms are made of many cells, and they are called multicellular organisms. Definition: The Cell Theory is one of the basic principles of Biology. • 28. Questions On Teaching And Classical Players This article discusses 8 vital things to remember as improvisers whether advanced or just getting started: 1. Your technique is probably miles ahead of your ability to think. This isn t just true for classical players. I ve known lots and lots (and lots) of jazz players who have let their technique run the show as opposed to their brains. Happens all the time. With players who are just beginning to improvise, this is vital to keep in mind. Slow down! Even at furious tempi, you can long meter melodic phrases that dance and skip over the fast tempo thinking them in real time. And you can have great precision and musicality in doing so. FYI, most players who play so fast you are asking yourself how can they think that stuff in real time probably aren t really thinking that stuff in real time. Most are performing a memorized, yet impressive move. Sort of a human software, sub routine call. To me, not the real thing. Personally, I d rather listen to simple ideas that are inspired than impressive, over thought, over prepared ideas any day. Particularly when they are masquerading as improvisation. 2. You will be playing unexpected notes (mistakes) in the best of situations. Yes, I know, we re supposed to KNOW what we are doing. But to get good at anything, we have to stretch, and stretching means taking risks, and taking risks means making mistakes. Over time, you really will be able to hear a melody and execute it flawlessly. But by then, you ll be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Of The Aleph And The Garden Of Forking Paths Postmodernism was a period that challenged the validity of accepted knowledge as social constructs through explorations of different possibilities. Most of Borges s work follow similar patterns and themes that capture the essence of Postmodernism by examining various philosophical ideas of time and space. Specifically, in The Alephand The Garden of Forking Paths , Borges plays with the idea of the infinite in various ways throughout each narrativein order to plant a similar idea in the readers minds. [fix that last sentence] [body #1: talk about how he talks about infinities differently through different writing styles (aleph: more personal style)] In both short stories, Borges explores into the idea of multiple pathways and views in a single position. In The Aleph, Borges himself is the main character who is given the opportunity to view the world and all its possibilities in a basement. The focus of the story seems to be on the ability to see infinite points from a single point. The Garden of Forking Paths explores the same idea through the discussion of a book that also serves the purpose of a labyrinth. I think that this problem is a very large problem that we have in the United States. America tends to have this problem because there are many different opinions on this topic. Some may argue that refugees should not be allowed into our country because they have many risks. This argument is distinguished from others because it will affect the way we live. In other words, we have many generations to come and when they come to the age where they are able to vote and help make federal decisions they will be able to take consideration of what views people have on this highly debated topic. But others may argue that they should be allowed into our country because they could be a good addition. I think refugees should be allowed into the United States under some certain conditions. One reason they should be allowed into the United States is that refugees could make a positive impact on our economy. Nurse Turnover And Nurse Retention Nurse Turnover and Nurse Retention Stephanie Williams NURS 411.01 Issues and Leadership in Nursing Delaware State University The nursing shortage in healthcare has been a highlighted issue for many years. With the ever growing health care system, hospitals and healthcare facilities often find themselves searching for ways to acquire new nurses and retain their very own. Throughout the years, the number one solution to this problem remains the same: decreasing nurse turnover, and increasing nurse retention. This paper discusses the causes of high nurse turnover rate, the negative effects on health care, and ways to improve the turnover rate. Before we can examine the consequences of high nurse turnover, we must examine the reasons nurses choose to leave their employer and look elsewhere for work. According to Hunt (2009), feeling overworked is the number one cause for nurse turnover in health care settings. Other reasons at the top of the list include, lack of support from employers and few opportunities for advancement. Due to the nursing shortage, staffing has been an issue in many healthcare facilities. As a result, units are consistently short staffed, causing nurses to feel overworked and unsupported by management. The fall of the Romanov Dynasty in 1914 proved that the Tsar could not handle the problems of Russia. Ironically, he would have been ideal as a constitutional monarch, but was adamant against the idea. As the First World War started Russias problems arises, from short term and long term causes. The war brought back inflation which led to demonstrations over food shortages combined with workers grievances, (Hosking, 2012, p. 91) thus this destroyed Nicholas s image as Father of Russia. Military became ineffective as the transport system was not adequate, thus leading to food supplies decreasing in key cities such as Petrograd. Historians believe the impacts of the First World War led to Russian society becoming unstable and was ultimately the main reason of the downfall of the Tsar. However other factors, such as the Tsarina placing large amounts of trust into Rasputin who was notorious for his reputation as an alcoholic and a womanizer (Westwood, 2002, p. 215) and the role of the revolutionaries due to Lenin promising peace, land and bread, eventually leading to the growth of the Bolsheviks Party. • 39. Social Impact Of Industrialization In Germany Mia Allen HST 102 Paper 1: Industrialization in Germany and its Social Impact The industrialization of cities, such as Berlin, greatly increased the price of living for the working class. Because of this, children who were a cheap source of labor, were often times expected to work daily for meager earnings. This process is exhibited in the engraving titled Orphan Girls and Boys in a Welfare Institution. The images are set in Germany in 1846 and display orphaned girls working in a sewing factory and boys working in a textile factory. This depiction of boys and girls speaks volumes about gender roles when it comes to social standing and job opportunities. In addition, these images show a very idealized version of child labor and industrialization and argue that children should be a source of cheap labor to reduce the cost of production and be separated based on sex. Many other sources such as Dronke s Excerpts from Berlin and The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels juxtapose this interpretation. The conflicting viewpoints of industrialization and gender roles will hence be analyzed in relation to the engraving and child labor in Germany in the 1800s. The industrial revolution began in England in the 1770s and expanded to areas in Prussia and Bohemia by the 1840s. The scope of industrialization was huge and forever changed the landscape of modern society by increasing production, national wealth, and technological advancement. However, it also resulted ... However, some of the homospourous C ferns only produce male gametophytes .The life cycle of Ceratopteris richardii starts as a diploid sporophyte which then, by meiosis, produces haploid spores. Plates A and F had even distribution but were very crowed with gametophytes, while plates D and C were evenly distributed but had less gametophytes. In the Film The Great Debaters created by Denzel Washington and Oprah Winfrey, the debate team and their fellow African Americans are truly discouraged by the white characters. However, these ambitious individuals decide to stick to their goals and push for success. James is one of the main protagonists in the film who progressively becomes more confident. The whole team also perceived racism and hate in such a way that made them want to bring change in their own, and their people s lives. Despite oppression, the film demonstrates that the minority are still motivated to succeed. James Farmer Jr. is arguably a very insecure individual, although, as the film progresses his confidence does as well. To begin, James stood up against his father when his father made inaccurate assumptions about him. For instance, when James came home late at night, his father thought that he had been out with a girl and drinking. He used to be a nervous child who would just listen and apologize to his father right away. However, progression is shown in James character when he decides to protest against his father s false accusations. Growing up as a Chicano in America in the 50s and 60s, Soto worked in fields as a laborer from a young age. It is evident that coming from a Hispanic working class family greatly influenced his poem Ambition . As he is known for, Soto s poem is filled with imagery of everyday life, while harping on important details and themes of things that he may have seen around him., but in this instance, there was a bit of confusion. To begin with, the poem Ambition starts off with the line For years our ambition was to eat/Chicken (1 2). Without further analysis, at this point the reader is most likely confused, much like I was. Chicken? How could eating be one s goal, one s aspiration in life? The word ambition is usually associated with lofty goals. It would not seem out of place to say that one s ambition was to become a doctor or to make a better life for oneself. So the speaker in the poem could not truly believe that all that he wanted in life was to eat chicken. After running scientific experiments, scientists have concluded that about 50% of these potholes lead to various points in time, space, and dimension. For months, scienctists had no clue why. That until now. Back in May of 2015, the Steve Harrison Institute of Technology (S.H.I.T) has developed a new piece of technology to help students with their spelling, grammar, and punctuation. It s called Spellcheck 2.0. Every time a student misspells a world, or uses incorrect punctuation or grammar, they will recieve and electrical shock. • 48. Interpreting Concepts of The World Is Flat Essay The phrase: the world is flat can be interpreted in many ways. Basically what Friedman means by flat is linked. The falling of trade and political barriers and technical advances have made it possible to do business, instantaneously with billions of other people around the world. It has allowed for parts of the world, which had previously been cut off, like China and India, to successfully compete in the world market. Thus, the playing field is being leveled, and no one nation has an advantage. Friedman could also refer to a flat world in a metaphorical sense. In a spherical earth you cannot see around the world and cannot recognize the opportunities far from where you live. If the world were flat you could see it all. There... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the new global economy, the US may no longer easily dominate. As a result of the flat world, new parts of the world are beginning to successfully compete. Two of the more powerful ones are India and China. These emerging nations are now competing not just for low wage manufacturing and information labor but, increasingly, for the highest end research and design work as well. As Friedman mentions in his triple convergence, roughly 3 billion people from India, Russia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and Asia are now joining this, plug and play world in which they can basically compete and collaborate equally. While these nations certainly pose a threat to historical U.S. and European prosperity and power, the proper response is not to fight it, but rather to embrace it, in order to thrive in the new world. It prevented a global view of the future as well by forcing the population of East Germany to be totally secluded from the rest of the world. The fall of the Berlin wall on 11/9/89 changed everything. Not only did this weaken communism, it tipped the balance of power across the world towards democratic advocacy, consensual governance and a free market economy. The effect was ... • 49. The Characteristics Of Hamlet From Hamlet And Walter White... A Byronic hero is an anti hero of the highest order. In the seventeenth century, William Shakespeare wrote the play Hamlet. Four centuries later, the television show Breaking Bad aired. Even with though these two pieces of media were written hundreds of years apart they still shared something in common, their main character was a Byronic hero. Hamlet from Hamlet and Walter White from Breaking Bad display the characteristics of an ultimate antihero. They are Byronic heroes because each have a troubled backstory, each are anti heroes, both are criminals, have high intelligence and useful skills, and have deep rooted psychological and emotional issues. Each character had to experience their own trauma to which led them to become the Byronic heroes that they are. Hamlet s father, King Hamlet, was murdered by his uncle, Claudius, in cold blood. While still in grief, his mother married Claudius no less than two months after the King s passing. Walter White fifty year old man who is an overqualified chemistry teacher who has to watch the world pass him up everyday. He must also humiliatingly work at a car wash to make extra money to provide for his pregnant wife and his sixteen year old son who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Decades ago he started a multi billion company but sold his share early in the business for a mere five thousands dollars. Then to make it all worse, Walter White was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on his fiftieth birthday. Byronic heroes typically have a troubled or empathetic backstory like Hamlet and Walter do. Their experiences affected them both deeply enough that their personas would change throughout the course of their stories and lead them to become more of a dark hero and then more villain like. Hamlet started to go down a spiral of madness whilst debating on whether or not to commit suicide while Walter went down his own spiral of slowly losing himself, his family, and his morals. Since a Byronic herois a the ultimate antihero, one of the qualifications to be a Byronic hero is to be an antihero. They are typically realists rather than idealists. Realist access situations and examining the facts without using their emotions while idealists see situations with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. The Human Cost Of Natural Disasters Tropical storms are an incredible threat to humanity. The International Disaster Database (EM DAT) recorded 6,873 natural disasters worldwide, which claimed 1.35 million lives or almost 68,000 lives on average each year (The Human Cost of Natural Disasters 2015). Although shelters are of great use, this form of relief requires days and often weeks to establish. Additionally, shelters must be built by people and assembling teams of volunteers is not always easy or time efficient. This pertinent issue combined with the leftover metal containers from the shipping industry is a blessing in disguise. This trash scattered across the world has allowed some individuals to make elaborate designs. For example, incorporating multiple containers to mimic a permanent house. To quickly provide assistance to those negatively affected by tropical storms, mobile relief shelters shall be made from recycled shipping containers. My proposal is to design a fleet of specially crafted, repurposed shipping containers that will be stored on a ship owned by the UN. These 20 or 40 foot housing shelters are designed to house maximum occupants and to be deployable within a matter of hours after a storm takes place. This ready reserve vessel will have to ability to be activated within a minutes notice. This fast response feature will ease stress in the devastating and intense times of a tropical storm. Upon arrival, the ship will have its own cranes and booms to unload the shelters shore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
