Last Mile Health Research Paper
Africa is usually thought of a poor continent. A continent pitted by famine, droughts, floods, and
sickness. The last Mile Health charity is trying to help the outlook of health in Africa. They are trying
to get health care to the rural communities of West Africa, because of several reasons since health was
beginning to be worse by the years in the early 2000 s. At the end of the civil war in Liberia there were
only fifty doctors to treat the ill. If you lived in city areas you could have lived. If you lived in rural
areas you would have died needlessly, from easy to fix situations. Last Mile Health helps because they
want to achieve a vision of a healthy work for everyone, everywhere, everyday. They work with

Williams Honors College Experience Essay
The Williams Honors College was extremely influential in my college experience. The Williams
Honors College provided me with peers, mentors, and experiences that allowed me to have an
unforgettable college experience.
My first experience with the University of Akron was through an Honors Scholarship Friday. When I
came to campus for that event as a high school senior, I went through a series of interviews. These
interviews, despite being nerve wracking, provided me with a first hand opportunity to interact with
and ask questions about the Honors College at the University of Akron. As someone who was very
interested in studying business, I had my heart set on Miami University. My mind quickly opened
after my exposure to the then University ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this lesson in mind, I joined the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, which deepened my friendships and
enthusiasm for service. Through Phi Delta Theta, I also had a chance to meet passionate University of
Akron alumni who deepened my commitment to the Akron community. I also sought out internships
earlier than most students in my field, and was able to complete two before entering my senior year.
During the summer following my sophomore year, I was honored to have the opportunity to complete
an internship with the J.M. Smucker Company. More recently, I completed an internship with Ernst
Young, LLP, one of the four largest professional services firms in the world, where I will be working
full time upon graduation. I would not have had the knowledge or the confidence to pursue these
opportunities without the mentoring I received through the Williams Honors College.
Though the Williams Honors College had a tremendous impact on my undergraduate days, I am very
excited about how it will impact my future. The Honors College has deepened my commitment to the
University of Akron and the greater Akron community. Though neither of my parents are from Akron,
they moved me here when I was two years old. Akron is my home and my time at the University has
secured my roots. I am appreciative of everything the Williams Honors College has given me, and I
cannot wait to give some of that back to the University of Akron and the Williams Honors College in

Rhetorical Analysis Of A Man For All Seasons
How can a person stay alive when his own beliefs go against the desires of King Henry? In A Man for
All Seasons, Sir Thomas More struggles to keep his head and morals when faced with the proposition
of King Henry s divorce. As the play progresses, the King s divorce becomes a pressing issue and
More uses rhetoric to go against the divorce and corrupted government. Silence turns out to be More s
most effective method of rhetoric, but towards the beginning and end of the play he makes a few key
statements to support his argument. During a meeting with Wolsey, More s skepticism of the divorce
is first shown. Wolsey is suggesting support of the divorce so that the King may conceive an heir with
Anne Boleyn. More makes the statement, A dispensation

Student Athletes Bad Behavior
Bad Behavior on Social Media Can Cost Student Athletes When you re a student athlete posting
things on social media it can harm you if you post the wrong thing. Yes, teens do tweet the darndest
things, but Hand and other coaches say it s usually fairly easy to differentiate between a cringe
inducing post and one that raises a serious red flag on a prospect. NCAA rules regarding contact
between recruits and football coaches have become more restrictive in recent years. Student athletes
need to behave appropriately at all times and in all forums. They should be particularly aware of social
networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, or other emerging technologies. Yes, teens do tweet

First, University of Michigan sophomore Csont e York was dismissed from the team after video
surfaced of him sucker punching a man outside a bar in Ann Arbor last month, leaving the man with a
broken jaw in three places. And then there s the case of University of Oklahoma freshman running
back Joe Mixon. On July 25th, one day after turning 18, he allegedly broke four bones in 20 year old
Amelia Rae Molitor s face when he punched her after allegedly shouting homophobic slurs at her
group. He was recently suspended for the 2014 season by the university. Is it fair to assume that
teenagers using social media to express themselves in a way that is not in line with university decorum
would be a problem in the locker room and at the university? Teenagers will say and do dumb things,
which are part of being a teenager. And for some of those teenagers, an athletic scholarship is their
only option when it comes to attending college. So despite a myriad of athletic achievements and
potential endorsements from coaches, teammates or even teachers, those college dreams can be
completely wiped out in 140 characters or less. On the surface, that may not seem fair, but the risks
associated with offering scholarships to players with potential character issues are extremely

The United Kingdom Of God
32. THE FUTURE I enjoy that Brunner talks about the already/not yet aspect of the future, because it
relies on a biblical approach to scripture. The Kingdom of God has come, but it has not yet come in its
fullness because the earth is not yet fully redeemed (142). This is an important distinction because it
shows that Brunner has done his research, and it also helps people understand exactly how he views
the Kingdom of God and how they should consequently view the Kingdom of God Near the end of the
chapter Brunner talks about how Christians must [wait] upon God for the Kingdom of Heaven (142).
While I agree with what he is saying, I think that Brunner should have qualified this statement to say
that believers now must be actively ready for the Kingdom of God to come in its fullness by doing the
work of Christ. While this may be implied in the message, stating it would have made Brunner s point
clearer and more powerful. 33. AFTERWARD? Brunner makes an excellent point when he states that
there is only one way to eternal life Christ (146). Many people shy away from the tough questions, but
Brunner rightly states the correct theological view that only through Christ are people saved. While
this declaration may seem trivial to some Christians, I believe that this statement is exactly why this
book is so powerful, because it clearly and assertively proclaims the truth about Christian doctrine,
which is then backed up by scripture. While Brunner is bold in many of his

Taking a Look at the Second Triumvirate
The Second Triumvirate was a formal magistracy legally appointed which could dominate the Senate
and the State (Scullard) and would prove to be the final straw in an already failed Republican system.
The Roman Republic was ruled by a Constitution, which relied on a balance of three elements; The
Senate; the Magistrates; the Assemblies. When the balance was upset either by ambitious magistrates,
armies or tribunes then civil war was the result. The Senate proved ineffectual in preventing the
Second Triumvirate from unbalancing this concept thus the played a significant role in the Republic s
fall. The Second Triumvirate, like those before them, had been able to take advantage of a vulnerable
Senate to achieve their own personal aims in defiance of the Senate. The lack of faith in the Senate,
which was present for this period of time, was what granted the Second Triumvirate to be the final
push in the fall of the Republic. The Sullan legacy continued to be displayed in unlawful acts
conducted by this three man rule. Marc Antony, Octavian, and Lepidus all knew the significance of
having an army at their hands and wealth that would ensure two things for them, power and civil war
at the hands of conflict. It is therefor known that the Second Triumvirate played a significant role in
the fall of an already fallen Republic.
In the place of the dictator Caesar, Rome had now appointed three dictators who would prove to
destroy a system in turmoil. Thus, a single dictator had

Art and Video Game
Historically video games have been considered a novelty or technical subject, but in recent year given
the increase in technology video games have been able to show that they are more. While not a
traditional art form, video games do have an artistic basis. Video games are increasingly becoming
more story and visually based. With these increased artistic elements it is increasingly becoming
harder to deny that video games are art, but maybe they are not the art defined by a traditional
definition. Critics state that that video games do not have the artistic values that art has but perhaps
there needs to be a new definition of what art is to include video games. Art can be divide in to two
different categories, literacy arts, art forms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Saints Row, a game some would argue immature do to its use of juvenile humor and phallic weapon
choices, is in fact a great example of video games maturing as an art form. As seen throughout the
history of movies, there is a pattern of genre creation and criticism of the genre through spoofs and
satirical works. Saints Row is an example of this development in video games, criticizing the gangster
crime genre made notorious by Grand Theft Auto. This development in the genre is an example of a
genre referring back to itself and poking holes in some of its conventions, a key element of a maturing
medium. Traditionally art has been produced by a single artist, a major criticism of the notion that
video games, a collaborative effort of a team, could be considered an art form. This criticism is limited
to mainstream video games, though, since many independently developed video games are the works
of a small team, as few as two, and they display the most artistic characteristics. Not burdened by the
heavy costs of triple a game development indie developers are able to put their hearts into their games
and produce wonderfully artistic games and not worry about if it will sell to the widest audience.
These games are evidence of the artistically heights video games can achieve. Video games are a
collaborative art form created by a team instead of a singular artisan (Hall). That is not to say that

Causes And Effects Of Phobias
Effects:
Phobias are rarely life threatening, but they can make sufferers unreasonably stressed. Some phobias
inhibit the quality of life of a person and make it difficult for them to gain employment or education.
Some effects of phobias include:
Life Limiting: Depending on what the phobia is, it may be found a struggle to run errands, go out with
friends or working every day. These limitations can make the person feel isolated. It also makes it
difficult keeping friends and develops doubts on why he/she are not like everybody else.
Embarrassments: Phobias can cause awkward and embarrassing situations. These kinds of phobias are
difficult to manage due to the underlying fear of humiliation. Having a phobic reaction can feel
humiliating, reinforcing the fear and making the phobia more difficult to manage.
Feeling out of control: Usually, the person experiencing it would be aware of it and that it is an
irrational fear but wouldn t be able to control the actions made. Wonders are thought about how life
would be different without those fears.
Helplessness: It may appear when one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not the way you live along your phobia as if it does not exist, but it is how you learn to overcome
this phobia in a way that it would cease to exist. Not every person experiencing a fear necessary has a
phobia. They are two different aspects in which it depends on the degree of suffering. For example,
fear is when you feel anxious and have a slight disruption during turbulence or flying. Phobia is not
going to your best friend s island wedding because you fear flying in an airplane. I think this is a
major conflict were people become unaware of the difference and directly jump into the assumption of
having a phobia. Every person has a fear that may conquer his/her body, but life is too short to allow it
to do so. Grow the courage to face your fears as it may take you into

Analysis Of The Book Matilda By Roald Dahl
This blog will focus on the storybook Matilda written by Roald Dahl. Matilda is about a special girl
forced to put up with a rough, distant father and mother. Worse, Miss Trunchbull, the evil principal at
Matilda s school, is a terrifyingly strict bully. However, when Matilda realizes she has the power of
telekinesis, she begins to defend her friends from Trunchbull s fury and fight back against her mean
parents with the help of her friends and her very kind teacher, Miss Honey. As a female, I believe in
empowering women and believing in the fact that women can become their own people and look after
themselves and accomplish achievements. This mainly links in with the gender role of identity as it
shows a huge part in Roald Dahls work within this book. Roald Dahl had grew up with his mother,
three sisters and a nanny, a house full of women. This enabled him to become an advocate of female
power.
As in a lot of children books, most of the time it is usually the boys that are playing the role of heroes,
and this is due to a gender stereotype as in a lot of cases it is shown that males are the strong ones and
should take care of the female. However, Dahl shows that girls are able to perfectly fit this hero role
just as well which I find very different to other sources of media as he empowers the females from the
start to the end. If other children were to read this book it will allow them to follow the notion that
girls could do what they want and are allowed to fight for

Summary Of 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
Throughout reading Sean Covey s 7 Habits of HIghly Effective Teens you made undergo
modifications in your own life if you are considering the life changing statements he made. The
purpose of this book was to inspire and change young adults habits that they have conjured up. I have
actually been able to apply some of these habits in my own life.He has taught me and some of my
classmates many lesson as we have read and overviewed the text. These principles or habits have
taught me about a healthy relationship, how to make smarter choices for my life, trusting that I have
self worth, and how to make me and my parents relationship better. When people talk about being
proactive they are most likely referring to the first habit in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. This
chapter is about controlling your responses to certain situations. For instance if you are in a tough
position instead of overreacting and handling a difficult situation badly you could calm down and
thoroughly think your response out.If you look in the listen to your language section it says, You can
tell the difference between proactive and reactive people by the language they use. This is true just by
the way you sound you can tell how people will react to a situation. This habit is crucial when it
comes to problem solving and if you end up in a bad situation. You can not control what happens to
you but you can control how you react. If you apply these concepts to your life things will not be as
complicated.

Physical Barriers And The Immune System Defend The Body...
The world is full of bacteria and germs that is a fact. One of the many jobs our body has it to protect
us from harmful pathogens which is when our natural defense mechanisms kick in. Do we know what
these natural defense mechanisms are? Our body has an immune system and barriers that play a part in
preventing and/or battling the diseases attacking our body. Is there a difference between the normal
functions of the body and the response it triggers that provokes a defense reaction?
Physical barriers and the Immune system defend the body against organisms that can cause infection
(Tunkel, 2015). The first line of defense is the physical and chemical barriers. Some barriers include
the skin, and urine flow. The skin being a primary barrier is

Analysis Of Bruce Wayne s Batman Essay
In Batman: Ego, Bruce Wayne struggles to fight his inner demons. These demons take on the shape of
Batman and lead to a power struggle with Bruce Wayne. Wayne fights to hold on to what he believes
in and show the world the true meaning of the Batman costume. This fight categorizes not only Wayne
s character but also the character of Batman. The comic pushes the characters into stereotypical roles
of what a hero and a villain are. Initially, Bruce Wayne is presented as the canon good guy or the hero,
while Batman is presented as the stereotypical bad guy . This representation is achieved by the comic
through its use of details. Due to the illusion of light and the use of colors, Batman: Ego represents
Bruce Wayne s character as a being of purity and innocence and represents Batman as a being of evil
and darkness.
Batman: Ego uses the illusion of light to portray Bruce Wayne s character in a positive way and the
character of Batman in a negative way. Every time Bruce Wayne is shown in one of the comic panels,
a beam of light is shown over his face or behind him. No matter the background of the comic, Wayne
is always clearly visible as if a beam of light is constantly aimed at him. By doing this, the comic is
setting Wayne up as a symbol of purity and light. Wayne is like a beacon of hope who strongly
contrasts with the dark reality that is Gotham. This use of light is most clearly seen in a panel on page
54. Within this panel, Wayne stands in the shadow of the villainous

The film starts by the two detectives arriving by boat accompanied by dark creepy clouds and terrible
weather which leads to hurricane type winds and stormy rain through the film. This helps contribute to
the already eerie and dark environment of the mental hospital/institution. The dull grey lighting of the
sky with the dramatic rocking of the boat and loud fog horns puts you on edge from the get go. From
the very beginning, it is apparent something strange is taking place on Shutter Island and the director
leaves the audience to gain the experience of watching everything unfold. The setting of the movie is
just as important as any other aspect of the film. The fact that it takes place in a mental
hospital/institution on a remote island surrounded by rocky cliffs, huge waves, caves, steeps along
with a creepy lighthouse, where it is said cruel experiments take place, screams suspense and thrill.
The island is surrounded with tall brick walls laced with electric fencing and only one port to leave
and arrive. The facility itself gives off an eerie feel with its creepy architect. Inside, the buildings are
littered with labyrinth style spaces that seem to almost consume its inhabitants. Flickering, somewhat,
unreliable lighting and approaching storm adds to sketchy scenery. I feel this makes the audience feel
at unease throughout the film, as if

Example Of Artifact Essay
In the examination of an artifact, many things can be deduced from the society that used this object.
For example, take the existence of a shirt which will be referred to as an artifact for the purposes of
this analysis. This particular shirt has a collar, buttons, and patches on its chest and sleeves. It is grey
in color with red stitching, black accents, and red lining. With further exploration, the shirt is found to
contain writing on one of the interior portions underneath the back side of the collar. It reads:
Chiliwear 100% Polyester M Made in China. This writing, while seemingly meaningless at first, is
highly enlightening on the sophistication of the shirt s creators. A second piece of the shirt near the
opening at the bottom contains a tag that reads: MACHINE WASH COLD LIKE COLORS. DO NOT
USE [SOFTENERS]. TUMBLE DRY LOW. DO NOT IRON. DO NOT BLEACH. All of these things
are inherently revealing about the civilization that produced it, but let us focus on a few of these
qualities in particular: the tag, the label, the material, and the implications created. ... Show more

They value the functionality of shelter that clothing provides. Judging from the embroidery on the
shirt, they also apparently value style. Should it have been a utilitarian object with no purpose aside
from covering the torso, it likely would not have the vibrant colors that accent the main grey cloth.
Therefore, the society values its appearance as well as its functionality. This would lead us to believe
that they are capable of rational thought and reasoning to decide what is fashionable and what is not.
This assertion serves us alongside with the very existence of the artifact itself as proof of their

Essay on The Duality of Light and Matter
In school you learned about the atom as though the electrons were particles. But what if you were
taught wrong? What if matter is in reality a wave? This is the question raised by Lois de Broglie and is
the focus of this essay. First we will cover the difference between particles and waves. Then we will
cover the origin of this debate, the duality of light and the double slit experiment. Then we will look at
the man behind this unorthodox idea, what his scientific background is and his reasons for suggesting
this unorthodox idea. Finally we will examine the data behind this experiment and see if it stands up
or not. What are the main differences behind a wave and the particle? A particle has locality, this
means it can be in only one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the photoelectric effect light was transmitted onto a metal surface, with certain conditions the light
could knock off electrons, its behavior could only be explained by considering light as a particle aka a
photon. In Compton scattering the radiation of high frequency waves off of electrons could only be
explained by considering the radiation in terms of quantified particles. So is light a wave or a particle?
Throughout the years the debate has gone back and forth and back and forth. In the 19th century Leon
Foucault Established that light moves slower in water than in air which is in favor of wave theory in
the same century Maxwell proved that light was an electromagnetic wave. But in the 20th century
Max Planck discovers that light is quantified and not continuous and Albert Einstein reestablishes
particle theory with his mathematical proof of the photoelectric effect. Interestingly a good example of
the ongoing struggle is the fact that J. J. Thompson got the Nobel Prize in 1906 for proving that
electrons were particles, but his son received the prize in 1937 for proving electrons to be waves. Of
course if scientists were questioning the properties of light why not matter as well? Enter in our main

fifteenth of August in the year 1892. He graduated from the Lycée Janson of Sailly in

Force 4: Bargaining Power of Buyers High
Walgreens is the largest national retail pharmacy chain and is considered the leader in innovative
drugstore retailing. The bargaining power of buyers is determined by two factors: price sensitivity and
relative bargaining power. Walgreens has several distinct divisions within a store that include a
pharmacy, nonprescription drugs, and general merchandise. Because these products and services are
undifferentiated for the most part, consumers are more sensitive to an increase in price. To combat this
price sensitivity, every aspect of Walgreens competitive strategy is focused on convenience, technical
innovation, and customer service, which has allowed the company to achieve financial success while
improving the level of service. Since Walgreens holds a large percentage of the industry market share,
they are able to help set the rules of competition but must be conscious of the consumers superior
bargaining power due to the number of competitors.
Force 5: Bargaining Power of Suppliers Overall High
Walgreens Company divides its sales into three distinct divisions: prescription drugs (65%),
nonprescription drugs (10%), and general merchandise (25%). The general merchandise division is all
the food, drink, seasonal, and cosmetic items that Walgreens carries.

William Shakespeare s Othello
ENG 1001: Nothing is funnier than unhappiness, I grant you that. Yes, yes, it s the most comical thing
in the world (Samuel Beckett).
Wilde, Shakespeare and Beckett incorporate two genres in their plays that nursed a strong intrigue
interest (Jones, pg 26) comedy and tragedy. According to Aristotle in his Poetics, tragedy in a play is
an imitation of an action that is serious, complete and of a certain magnitude composed of plot,
character, thought, diction, melody and spectacle, (Myers, pg 118). Conventionally, comedies end
happily in which real world conflicts are resolved. In this essay I am going to demonstrate how each
of the playwrights challenge the traditional ideology of comedy and tragedy.
Comical elements in Othello are limited, however a neoclassical critic stated, there is in this play,
some burlesque, some humour and a ramble of comical wit and therefore, Othello as a whole is none
other than a Bloody Farce (Rymer). To an extent I agree with this comment, however Othello is
evidently more tragic than comical. The distasteful comedy based on racial stereotypes further
delineates a tragic response to the play, Awake/...or else the devil will make a grandsire of you (I.I.90
91). The misogynous, racist and heretic language is explicitly apparent and distinctive to show the
idea of cross breeding, raising anxieties about reproduction and the classification of things, ... you ll

entirely, the world s population to alternative renewable energy is the only way to save Earth from the
decline of the ozone layer. The ozone layer blocks UV radiation that causes many health problems for
people and animals, but the ozone layer also aids in the regulation of the planets normal homeostasis.
Without this perfect balance life could no longer sustain as it is known to be, or even possibly not at
all. These renewable sources are far cleaner than conventional sources, which will in turn help
everyone in the world. Along with the higher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conventional energy sources cause damage directly to the Earth itself just to gather the oil. This large
amount of time and effort is essentially a waste when the oil gathered is used so rapidly, the earth can t
even replace it at a rate to keep up with demand. This will lead to the loss of this seemingly simple
commodity (Breede, Security and energy capture: the military perspective). The availability of the sun
is just as you see it daily. Along with that, the conversion of solar rays to usable energy does not
release any damaging greenhouse gases, unlike the beloved petroleum oil used to widely today. Where
understandably anyway we gather energy will have some sort of impact on the planet, but the impact
of the gathering, transportation, and burning (converting to usable energy) has a by far larger impact in
just about every way, compared to any form of renewable energy (Union of Concerned Scientist,
Environmental Impacts of Renewable Energy Technologies). Still with this knowledge the switch to
renewable energy has been slow to progress. So to increase availability of renewable discovery of
several different forms have been introduced to consumers, including the well known solar, wind,
geothermal but also the less common such as biomass, hydroelectric and hydrokinetic. This range of
options is to make sure that fuels should be an absolute last resort. Some

Charlemagne s Influence On Charlemagne
The life of Charlemagne is one of historical and utter greatness. He ruled in a time of turmoil and
disorder during middle ages in Europe. The successes of his past lineage prepared and propelled him
to take on the tremendous task of expanding, governing and reforming the Frankish Empire.
Charlemagne incredible accomplishment during his sovereignty. For he not only invented an efficient
way to govern his people call feudalism, he also created a way to keep the loyalty to his empire
through inspectors. He led countless conquests against the various adversaries that once opposed the
Holy Roman Empire, which expanded his empire across the greater half of Europe. With his grand
conquests a solidification between the Catholic Church and the State began to take hold. Charlemagne
being a keen individual saw great opportunity within the partnership with the Church especially ones
of the monasteries. Using them to usher in the Carolingian renaissance. The crowning of Charlemagne
as Holy Roman Emperor fashioned a turning point that would forever change the path of Europe.
Within years after his death, though, Charlemagne once boundless empire wasted away. Charlemagne
s reign indeed greatly influenced the course of Europe in ways he had only hoped it would. But as
history often shows for every one event there are often several incantations and interpretations.
Charlemagne reign is definitely not an exception to the rule, his tale is presented in two biographies;

Hetch Hetchy Dam Valley And The Longest Debate Between...
Hetch Hetchy Dam The Hetch Hetchy valley is the subject of one of the greatest and longest debates
between conservationists and preservationists. In short, preservationists look to safe the great Hetch
Hetchy valley from being dammed and flooded, and by doing that they prevent San Francisco people
from getting what is rightfully theirs, the clean water and natural resources of the Hatch Hatchy valley
and the Tuolumne River. Conservationists are on the other hand, they try to use the most of the Hetch
Hetchy valley. Conservationists strongly support the Raker bill that allows the government of San
Francisco to build the dam and provide the clean water to the city and county of San Francisco.
Building the dam and flooding the Hetch Hetchy valley will destroy a part of the beautiful scenery
replacing it with a lake, but it also tremendously increases the practical use of the Hetch Hetchy
resources: it will provide electric power and the so much need water to the San Francisco district and
will still provide the surrounding irrigating districts with the normal amount of water, it is the best
project to solve San Francisco water problems considering the price and efficiency of the dam, and in
addition it will also improve the popularity of the Hetch Hetchy and make it more accessible to the
middle class people across the state. The damming and flooding the Hetch Hetchy valley will resolve
the insufficiency of a water supply in San Francisco. Approving the Raker bill will

Interconnections between Population Policies in China and Cultural, Historical Perceptions regarding
Sexuality, Reproduction, and Health
Introduction
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Chinese government put in place the One Child Policy in order
to limit the majority of families to one child each and reduce China s population growth rate. In
reality, China s One Child Policy consisted of many one child policies, which were generally better
implemented and stricter in urban areas than in rural areas. Variations of the general one child policy
included allowing the rural families in some areas, families of some ethnic minority groups, families
with handicapped firstborn children, and families with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(100) Because of the sharp drop in fertility rates and rise in longevity since 1980, elderly people
currently constitute a large, growing proportion of China s population. In addition to these
demographic transformations, the human consequences of China s population policies are widespread.
Women forced to undergo abortions and/or sterilizations suffer from emotional trauma, whereas non
firstborn children are undocumented and legally unrecognized by society, lacking access to education,
public services, and employment. In accordance with the goals of state population policies, China s
fertility and birth rates after 1980 have drastically dropped, yet the unforeseen consequences of these
population policies will continue to affect China for many years to come.
Many scholars have researched China s population policies and its consequences. The health effects
from sterilizations and forced abortions have been well investigated.1 The mental health of the first
versus second and third children has also been compared in multiple studies.2 In Just One Child,
Susan Greenhalgh argues that a lack of scientific judgment and input gave rise to the One Child
Policy. However, there is a lack of research into the cultural determinants leading to the development
of China s population policies and the effects that state population policies have had on ideas about
sexuality and sexual health in China.

Sexual Harassment Issues
Sexual harassment is an ongoing problem in our society and has been swept under the rug in most
sexual harassment cases in the workplace. The problem with sexual harassment, especially in the
workplace, is the fact that victims usually cannot escape the situation from happening more than once.
The victim is often in a position with their company that the victim cannot let authorities know of the
harassment because of financial obligation to their family and themselves through the company.
Sexual harassment is an issue that, is not only a major issue but an issue that needs to be stopped.
Sexual harassment in the workplace needs to be prevented from happening and we as a society need to
raise awareness for this issue. The sexual harassment epidemic in the workplace in America is
escalating quickly, but what exactly is sexual harassment? Sexual harassment is defined as unwanted
sex related behavior at work that is appraised by the recipient as offensive, exceeding her resources, or
threatening her well being (Barling). However, there is a difference between sexual harassment in the
workplace and workplace romance. Workplace romance is a risky game to play in the workplace
environment. Often in cases of sexual harassment, workplace romances have taken a turn in the wrong
direction and turn into more aggressive relationships. Sexual harassment does not only happen to
women but also to men. However, sexual harassment cases occur more with women as the victim than
men being

My Papa s Waltz By Roethke
My Papa s Waltz Analysis
My Papa s Waltz, by Theodore Roethke is a classic poem enjoyed by numerous people. This poem is
frequently analyzed it due to it s meaning that continues to be relevant after seventy four years. It can
be seen as a happy poem about a father and a son, but the diction and metaphors used lead to its
serious and sad implication. After continuously reading and analyzing My Papa s Waltz, I came to
realize this is a narrative poem written in a lyrical way. Using rhythm and beat, the speaker tells a
story about a joyful memory between a father and son that has an unfortunate connotation.
In this poem, the speaker is a male looking back at a memory from his childhood that he shared with
his father. The audience is his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sadness while reading the poem. My Papa s Waltz, has been analyzed by a plethora of scholars.
Through close analysis of the poem, the meaning is understood in a similar form by a great deal of
these scholars. There is a slight divide about the meaning, but the widely understood message is a
negative one. Although some readers see this poem as a happy memory and a fun waltz, there is plenty
of evidence to prove otherwise. While examining the diction and tone of the poem, one can easily

Preindustrial Society Compared To Today
Week one
Life in preindustrial society was very similar to today
During the 18th and 19th centuries, there were significant changes to lifestyles due to the industrial
revolution. This event allowed us to modernise and build the world we are living in today. Yet life
before the industrial revolution compared to today s society cannot be stated similar. In the modern
society, people rely on mechanisations and machinery for living, however, before the 1750, everything
was mostly done manually as countries had not yet adopted machines. This caused a significant
changes in lifestyles from the preindustrial times to the modern world.
The industrial revolution was a global turning point socially, economically and environmentally.

The Lucifer Effect Is An Eye Opener For Me
Reading The Lucifer Effect was an eye opener for me. It got me thinking do we really know anyone
for that matter do we know ourselves? There are times in of our lives, have we been astonished to
learn about the activities of someone we thought we knew very well. Are those who commit atrocities
people with serious character defects or psychopathology, or are they ordinary people responding to an
extraordinary situation? The Lucifer Effect delivers some possible rationalizations for these personal
mysteries in which we deal with. This book also gives some prospective on perplexed ideas of our
own actions that may contradict our previous thought of our own identities. In this reflection paper I
will be In The Lucifer Effect Zimbardo addresses a question, What makes people go wrong? (p. 5) He
defines the word: Evil consists in intentionally behaving in ways that harm, abuse, demean,
dehumanize or destroy innocent others or using one s authority and systemic power to encourage or
permit others to do so on your behalf (p. 5). As is evident from this definition, the study of evil is the
study of particular behaviors and motivations. As such, it could be argued that such a study is within
the legitimate province of psychology, although some may be disturbed by this. Zimbardo begins by
pointing out that the predominant paradigm in our culture for explaining human behavior is known as
the dispositional model, a model that focuses on inner individual personality traits and

My Life At The Hotel Room
One day in summer of 2015, my family and I went on a little vacation to Dallas,Texas. My mom and
dad went to hang out with their friends the whole vacation while me and my sister were bored in the
hotel room taking care of my little brat of a brother. But to our luck, there were two girls around my
age that are my friends. It kinda sucked for my sister because she had no one that was her age other
than three boys, but she won t talk to them. The adults wanted to have an adult day, but the whole
vacation it was adult days. I wanted to go swimming in the hotel room and so did the two girls plus
my sister.
They are responsible, They will be fine, let them go, all the adults said but maybe They were so
wrong. All the adults agreed to let us four girls go to the hotel alone.
Once we got to the hotel we sprinted up to the room. All of us decided to go to the pool. Everyone
took forever to get ready, but i was done in a flash. We got to the pool. Everybody was too chicken to
go to the pool. My sister being herself, she was paranoid because there was an old man who looked
creepy. One of the girls that was with us is very social and she didn t think before she does something.
her being herself called out to the old man
Hey how are you?
I m good how is the water? the creepy old man said
It s great, she responded
Well in that case i ll go and put my swimming suit on and meet you back in the pool, at that moment
we know that everything is going to go down hill. The old

The Awakening Of The Dark Corridor
Shattering across the floor, glass shards fly everywhere and the door creaks from no distinct origin, all
common occurrences of the tale tell signs of the supernatural, who haunt by creeping behind the lone
wanderer of the dark corridor. Most do not investigate the source of these sounds; however, as humans
the thirst for discovering the unknown lurks inside. To quench thrillers thirst without actual
confrontation, The Awakening takes viewers into a spaceous, eerie boarding school that used to be a
private mansion. This ghost movie derives from typical characteristics of the subgenre haunted
houses. Unexpected sounds, intense music, and a ghostly monster scare the viewer as this movie plays
out, but the twist is finding out the monster is not the ghost. The Awakening s twist in plot allows the
movie to surpass the layout of a haunted house movie by making the movie more interesting, suprising
to the viewer. To begin, haunted movie s subgenre characters usually come in five types known as the

Benefits Of An Alternative Product For Fresh Dairy Products
income of urban residents is 5 7 times higher than those in the rural areas, therefore, purchasing power
has mainly concentrated in urban areas. Meanwhile more than 70% of the population live in the rural
areas, this is a major challenge for businesses in raising the proportion of rural milk drinking. Due to
the nature of the dairy sector, all consumers considered that its useful value is nutritional for them and
their loved ones. Consumers are always thinking in one direction that the higher the price is, the
higher the quality is. While the Vietnam fresh milk market has been dominated by the large firms,
Vinamilk will not succeed if they position a similar product. Therefore, with a different positioning, by
focusing on creating an alternative product for fresh dairy products, they will create a strong position
in the consumers mind. Based on the survey, we found that, apart from cow s milk, many customers,
especially those of women and older people, like soy milk because it does not contain much fat and
effects which is good for their health. Therefore, Vinamilk should take interest in this issue to create a

Green Berets came to the defense of the film. One lieutenant colonel commented that when
Hollywood s doing it, you have to expect dramatization some exaggeration. But I thought it was a real

opposition to that? It was a good, low key, accurate picture...The accuracy was there and the
photography was real great. However, General Edwin Simmons, who fought in Vietnam and

I had a black slave in The Alamo, and I had a correct number of blacks in The Green Berets. He said
he was guided by clear criteria: If it s supposed to be a black character, naturally I use a black actor.
But I don t go so far as hunting for positions for them. However, one black character in The Green

African American soldiers who served in combat far exceeded their percentage of the population.
Thus, Wayne did not accurately portray the racial demographic of the military at the time. Roger Ebert

Are People Inherently Good Or Evil
The concept of whether or not humans are inherently good or evil is as complex and just as regularly
debated by philosophers as to whether or not there is an afterlife. Now if we temporarily ignore the
grey scale that is moral and immoral and the fluctuations it may have based on individual morals and
instead use a generalisation of what is good and bad, (this consisting of the obvious murder, rape etc)
we can freely debate if human nature is inherently good or evil. There are some philosophers like
Clancy Martin who argue that people are mostly good but there are also others like Alan Strudler who
are more pessimistic and comeback with The idea that people are good because they do mostly good

This compelling piece of literature explores the idea of two worlds; the world of light and the world of
darkness. The world of light is described by Sinclair as The parental home...its name was Mother and
father, it was love and strictness, education and example. What belonged to this world was gently
shining radiance, clarity, and cleanliness; quiet friendly conversation; washed hands, clean clothes,
good behaviour. (Hesse 1919, p.3) To be direct this parental world consisted of his home and the
church; all that was seen as good, pure and moral. While the other world was the opposite and
everything outside the home on the streets and the public schools. Sinclair firsts extends his hand to
the other world when he lies about stealing apples in order to impress a young boy named Kromer
which causes Sinclair to torment himself and thus allows Kromer to do the same when he blackmails
him. This is where Sinclair meets his first mentor, Max Demian. This mentor taught Sinclair many
wonders and causes him to go into a bout of self discovery. After years of switching between the two
worlds, he discovers a god named Abraxas. Damian had once discussed with Sinclair the God Jehovah
and how everything that is pure and sacred is given to him while everything that is sinful is seen as the
devils. He explains that he believes both worlds should be worshipped as a whole and you must either
find a god that is both the Father and the devil or have two gods. This is why the god Abraxas
intrigues Sinclair to such a degree as he is the god that reigns over both heavenly and demonic; the
combination of the two worlds. This ancient Greek and Egyptian deity shows Sinclair and the reader
that a person should not be so concerned and concentrated on immoral

Critical Analysis Of Forman One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest
McMurphy points out that Nurse Ratchet is the one who pecks the first peck , and then sits back and
watches the patients attack each other. He does not comprehend why the patients succumb to this
technique, particularly since they may be next in line as the object of criticism. The patients do appear
to have blinders on; they are so blinded by their own disgrace that they cannot see Ratched s actual
nature and the way she manipulates and controls them so easily. Nurse Ratchet held in place an
extensive system of rules and regulations, as well as an ordered routine. McMurphy taught the patients
that sometimes it is acceptable to rebel against the rules and that they do not have to rely on their
schedule to keep their minds together. For example, McMurphy states Is that what your schedule does
for you? (Forman One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Film). The schedule is a part of the
institutionalization of power that Nurse Ratched employs to maintain control and keep the patients
compliant to her sense of order. McMurphy points out that it is in fact a sham that cannot cover the
messiness of real life. Obviously, they all realize that the schedule is only a made up method for
arranging time. Be that as it may, none of them have ever been able to admit it. Other patients on the
ward begin to stand up to Nurse Ratchet and her rules. For instance, Cheswick hollers Rules? Piss on
your fucking rules, Miss Ratched! (Forman One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Film). A momentary
outburst from Cheswick is an indicator that McMurphy has been able to model a sense of indignance
at all of their treatment, and this is now being emulated by other patients through their behaviour
towards Nurse Ratched. Another instance of patients talking down to Ratchet is when Sefelt states
Maybe he ll just show Nurse Ratched his big thing and she ll open the door for him. (Forman One
Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Film). In this statement the use of sexual language is about
empowerment. This makes reference to the possibility that McMurphy holds the key to their liberation
from Nurse Ratchet s control through his capacity to dominate her both sexually and otherwise. His
ability to stand up to her and challenge her has captured Sefelt s

resources to plan, schedule and adjust project performance. There were Audit Teams that were
composed of seasoned Boeing managers, audit teams investigated every facet of the product
development process including finance, manufacturing, technology and management. These teams
promoted project development by catching errors early and directly reporting them to upper
management for resolution. The Management Visibility System schedules were prominently posted
for review, and weekly status meetings were held in which department supervisors notified each other
of their needs and potential problems. Supervisors were required to stand up at meetings and explain
why they were unable to meet production goals. Managers were then entrusted with clearing all
hurdles to achieving those goals. The Production Change Board (PCB) reviewed all engineering
related change requests and assessed their cost and schedule impact. A feasible implementation
approach was then developed for each approved request .By resorting to a wide variety of technical

Stress Inoculation
Stress Stress is the wear and tear our bodies experience as we adjust to our continual changing
environment; it has physical and emotional effects on us and can create negative feelings. As a
positive influence, stress can help compel us to action; result in a new awareness and an exciting new
perspective. As a negative influence stress can result in feelings of distrust, rejection anger, and
depression, which in turn can cause health problems such as headaches, upset stomach, rashes,
insomnia, ulcers, high pressure, heart disease, and stroke. (Koop,1998). The long term effects of stress

Mechanisms that explain why students perform badly under stress include hypervigilance (excessive
alertness to a stressful situation resulting in panic for example, overstudying for an exam) and
premature closure (quickly choosing a solution to end a stressful situation for example, rushing
through an exam). (Falk,1995). Students react to college in a variety of ways. For some students,
college is stressful because it is an abrupt change from high school. For others, separation from home
is a source of stress. Although some stress is necessary for personal growth to occur, the amount of
stress can overwhelm students and affect the ability to cope. Since World War II, changes in American
higher education includes growth has been a loss of personal attention to students. One measure of
excessive stress, or distress, in college students is the use of mental health services. Symptoms
commonly report by campus psychiatrists portray a general picture of school related stress, for
example, the inability to do school work and the fear of academic failure. One way for teachers to
promote more of a healthy learning environment is to reduce stress among students. Studies of
teachings that produces the most learning suggest that effective teachers use an analytical and
synthetic approach to the subject matter, organize the material well to make it clear, and establish

This poem addresses the conflict between social morality towards child labor and the realization that
the elite have influenced societies ways. As the original speaker in the poem sees something black in

the punctuations and quotations used within the stanza. Not only does the punctuation give the reader

Unlike other approaches to distributed file systems, the storage and processing of HDFS is done at
each node of the system. Thus, using the Hadoop or MapReduce is relatively easy for a computer

Corinthians 15
The Grace of God (1 Corinthians 15:9 10)
Corinthians 15 is intensively talking about the Resurrection of Jesus. Greeks believed in the
immortality of the soul, but did not believe in the bodily resurrection.
Corinthian church members who were affected by this Greek idea had a tendency to not believe in the
bodily resurrection of Jesus. In response, Paul proved the validity of the Resurrection by presenting
authoritative evidence of the Old Testaments and the evidence of witnesses to the bodily resurrection
of Jesus. The Resurrection did not happen in the corner secretly, but it was the historical fact that
many people witnessed at the same time. Thus, many people saw the resurrected Jesus as the spiritual
body.

comes from God, it is called, Charis to theo, which is the grace of God. The word grace is a word that
points to the grace of God s redemption that came to us in Christ. The mercy of God who loves the
sinner is the grace. Grace is the love of God who sent Jesus to this earth to save sinners. The grace of
God is that we have changed through Jesus Christ, in other words, the gospel, and that we live in this
earth as the children of God. Taking a breath today is the grace of God. Coming to church and
enjoying worship are the grace of God.
Everyone lives by the grace of God. There are people who realize that and people who don t realize
that. Please become a person who realizes the grace of God.
Paul deeply realized the grace of God. Charis, the word grace is the key word in Paul s letter. Charis,
the word grace appears 51 times in the whole bible other than Paul s letter. However, the word Charis
appears 101 times in his letter. Even looking at only these numbers, you can see that Charis is a
characteristic main term of Paul s letter. This would suggest that there was a deep enlightenment of
God s grace. I will introduce some of the verses in Paul s letter.

Ludwig Van Beethoven Was Born
Ludwig van Beethoven was born, in a small ish German Rhineland city of Bonn in 1769, 1770, and
1772 (it was characteristic of his singularity to be born not once but thrice). The first Ludwig was
indeed born in 1769, but, like so many children of that time, expired within a week. The second of the
same parentage followed some twenty months later, born (probably) on December 16, 1770, and
baptized (certainly) the following day; and the third never really existed, save in the lifelong confusion
of Ludwig the second (Siepmann 2006 p. 3) Beethoven had always been unsure of his age so he had
asked multiple acquaintances of his as he grew older for information in regards to his birth, yet, every
time a person had produced proof of his birth; Beethoven refuted the evidence. If Beethoven had
trouble with his age, others, including some who knew him, seemed to have trouble with his names
(Siepmann p. 4). Beethoven was referred to by many names throughout his lifetime, he was known
variously as Ludwig, Louis, Luis, and Luigi, thereby embracing four nationalities, while his family
name appears from time to time as Betthoven, Bethofen, even Bephoven, with van often being
exchanged for von (Siepmann p. 4) Sir Beethoven didn t exactly have the easiest of upbringing nor did
he have a very comfortable living in his very own household. This was primarily due to the fact that
his father was, a mediocre court singer better known for his alcoholism than any musical ability

The last Mile Health charity is trying to help the outlook of health in Africa. They are trying to get health care to the rural communities of West Africa, because of several reasons since health was beginning to be worse by the years in the early 2000 s. At the end of the civil war in Liberia there were only fifty doctors to treat the ill. If you lived in city areas you could have lived. If you lived in rural areas you would have died needlessly, from easy to fix situations. The Williams Honors College provided me with peers, mentors, and experiences that allowed me to have an unforgettable college experience. My first experience with the University of Akron was through an Honors Scholarship Friday. When I came to campus for that event as a high school senior, I went through a series of interviews. These interviews, despite being nerve wracking, provided me with a first hand opportunity to interact with and ask questions about the Honors College at the University of Akron. As someone who was very interested in studying business, I had my heart set on Miami University. My mind quickly opened after my exposure to the then University ... Through Phi Delta Theta, I also had a chance to meet passionate University of Akron alumni who deepened my commitment to the Akron community. I also sought out internships earlier than most students in my field, and was able to complete two before entering my senior year. During the summer following my sophomore year, I was honored to have the opportunity to complete an internship with the J.M. Smucker Company. More recently, I completed an internship with Ernst Young, LLP, one of the four largest professional services firms in the world, where I will be working full time upon graduation. I would not have had the knowledge or the confidence to pursue these opportunities without the mentoring I received through the Williams Honors College. Though the Williams Honors College had a tremendous impact on my undergraduate days, I am very excited about how it will impact my future. The Honors College has deepened my commitment to the University of Akron and the greater Akron community. Though neither of my parents are from Akron, they moved me here when I was two years old. Akron is my home and my time at the University has secured my roots. In A Man for All Seasons, Sir Thomas More struggles to keep his head and morals when faced with the proposition of King Henry s divorce. As the play progresses, the King s divorce becomes a pressing issue and More uses rhetoric to go against the divorce and corrupted government. Silence turns out to be More s most effective method of rhetoric, but towards the beginning and end of the play he makes a few key statements to support his argument. During a meeting with Wolsey, More s skepticism of the divorce is first shown. Wolsey is suggesting support of the divorce so that the King may conceive an heir with Anne Boleyn. Yes, teens do tweet the darndest things, but Hand and other coaches say it s usually fairly easy to differentiate between a cringe inducing post and one that raises a serious red flag on a prospect. NCAA rules regarding contact between recruits and football coaches have become more restrictive in recent years. Student athletes need to behave appropriately at all times and in all forums. First, University of Michigan sophomore Csont e York was dismissed from the team after video surfaced of him sucker punching a man outside a bar in Ann Arbor last month, leaving the man with a broken jaw in three places. On July 25th, one day after turning 18, he allegedly broke four bones in 20 year old Amelia Rae Molitor s face when he punched her after allegedly shouting homophobic slurs at her group. He was recently suspended for the 2014 season by the university. Is it fair to assume that teenagers using social media to express themselves in a way that is not in line with university decorum would be a problem in the locker room and at the university? Teenagers will say and do dumb things, which are part of being a teenager. And for some of those teenagers, an athletic scholarship is their only option when it comes to attending college. So despite a myriad of athletic achievements and potential endorsements from coaches, teammates or even teachers, those college dreams can be completely wiped out in 140 characters or less. • 6. The United Kingdom Of God 32. THE FUTURE I enjoy that Brunner talks about the already/not yet aspect of the future, because it relies on a biblical approach to scripture. The Kingdom of God has come, but it has not yet come in its fullness because the earth is not yet fully redeemed (142). This is an important distinction because it shows that Brunner has done his research, and it also helps people understand exactly how he views the Kingdom of God and how they should consequently view the Kingdom of God Near the end of the chapter Brunner talks about how Christians must [wait] upon God for the Kingdom of Heaven (142). While I agree with what he is saying, I think that Brunner should have qualified this statement to say that believers now must be actively ready for the Kingdom of God to come in its fullness by doing the work of Christ. While this may be implied in the message, stating it would have made Brunner s point clearer and more powerful. 33. AFTERWARD? Brunner makes an excellent point when he states that there is only one way to eternal life Christ (146). Many people shy away from the tough questions, but Brunner rightly states the correct theological view that only through Christ are people saved. While this declaration may seem trivial to some Christians, I believe that this statement is exactly why this book is so powerful, because it clearly and assertively proclaims the truth about Christian doctrine, which is then backed up by scripture. While Brunner is bold in many of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Taking a Look at the Second Triumvirate The Second Triumvirate was a formal magistracy legally appointed which could dominate the Senate and the State (Scullard) and would prove to be the final straw in an already failed Republican system. The Roman Republic was ruled by a Constitution, which relied on a balance of three elements; The Senate; the Magistrates; the Assemblies. When the balance was upset either by ambitious magistrates, armies or tribunes then civil war was the result. The Senate proved ineffectual in preventing the Second Triumvirate from unbalancing this concept thus the played a significant role in the Republic s fall. The Second Triumvirate, like those before them, had been able to take advantage of a vulnerable Senate to achieve their own personal aims in defiance of the Senate. The lack of faith in the Senate, which was present for this period of time, was what granted the Second Triumvirate to be the final push in the fall of the Republic. The Sullan legacy continued to be displayed in unlawful acts conducted by this three man rule. Marc Antony, Octavian, and Lepidus all knew the significance of having an army at their hands and wealth that would ensure two things for them, power and civil war at the hands of conflict. It is therefor known that the Second Triumvirate played a significant role in the fall of an already fallen Republic. In the place of the dictator Caesar, Rome had now appointed three dictators who would prove to destroy a system in turmoil. Thus, a single dictator had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Art and Video Game Historically video games have been considered a novelty or technical subject, but in recent year given the increase in technology video games have been able to show that they are more. While not a traditional art form, video games do have an artistic basis. Video games are increasingly becoming more story and visually based. With these increased artistic elements it is increasingly becoming harder to deny that video games are art, but maybe they are not the art defined by a traditional definition. Critics state that that video games do not have the artistic values that art has but perhaps there needs to be a new definition of what art is to include video games. Saints Row, a game some would argue immature do to its use of juvenile humor and phallic weapon choices, is in fact a great example of video games maturing as an art form. As seen throughout the history of movies, there is a pattern of genre creation and criticism of the genre through spoofs and satirical works. Saints Row is an example of this development in video games, criticizing the gangster crime genre made notorious by Grand Theft Auto. This development in the genre is an example of a genre referring back to itself and poking holes in some of its conventions, a key element of a maturing medium. Traditionally art has been produced by a single artist, a major criticism of the notion that video games, a collaborative effort of a team, could be considered an art form. This criticism is limited to mainstream video games, though, since many independently developed video games are the works of a small team, as few as two, and they display the most artistic characteristics. Not burdened by the heavy costs of triple a game development indie developers are able to put their hearts into their games and produce wonderfully artistic games and not worry about if it will sell to the widest audience. These games are evidence of the artistically heights video games can achieve. Video games are a collaborative art form created by a team instead of a singular artisan (Hall). • 10. Causes And Effects Of Phobias Effects: Phobias are rarely life threatening, but they can make sufferers unreasonably stressed. Some phobias inhibit the quality of life of a person and make it difficult for them to gain employment or education. Some effects of phobias include: Life Limiting: Depending on what the phobia is, it may be found a struggle to run errands, go out with friends or working every day. These limitations can make the person feel isolated. It also makes it difficult keeping friends and develops doubts on why he/she are not like everybody else. Embarrassments: Phobias can cause awkward and embarrassing situations. These kinds of phobias are difficult to manage due to the underlying fear of humiliation. Having a phobic reaction can feel humiliating, reinforcing the fear and making the phobia more difficult to manage. • 13. Analysis Of The Book Matilda By Roald Dahl This blog will focus on the storybook Matilda written by Roald Dahl. Matilda is about a special girl forced to put up with a rough, distant father and mother. Worse, Miss Trunchbull, the evil principal at Matilda s school, is a terrifyingly strict bully. However, when Matilda realizes she has the power of telekinesis, she begins to defend her friends from Trunchbull s fury and fight back against her mean parents with the help of her friends and her very kind teacher, Miss Honey. As a female, I believe in empowering women and believing in the fact that women can become their own people and look after themselves and accomplish achievements. This mainly links in with the gender role of identity as it shows a huge part in Roald Dahls work within this book. Roald Dahl had grew up with his mother, three sisters and a nanny, a house full of women. This enabled him to become an advocate of female power. As in a lot of children books, most of the time it is usually the boys that are playing the role of heroes, and this is due to a gender stereotype as in a lot of cases it is shown that males are the strong ones and should take care of the female. However, Dahl shows that girls are able to perfectly fit this hero role just as well which I find very different to other sources of media as he empowers the females from the start to the end. If other children were to read this book it will allow them to follow the notion that girls could do what they want and are allowed to fight for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our body has an immune system and barriers that play a part in preventing and/or battling the diseases attacking our body. Is there a difference between the normal functions of the body and the response it triggers that provokes a defense reaction? • 16. Analysis Of Bruce Wayne s Batman Essay In Batman: Ego, Bruce Wayne struggles to fight his inner demons. These demons take on the shape of Batman and lead to a power struggle with Bruce Wayne. Wayne fights to hold on to what he believes in and show the world the true meaning of the Batman costume. This fight categorizes not only Wayne s character but also the character of Batman. The comic pushes the characters into stereotypical roles of what a hero and a villain are. Initially, Bruce Wayne is presented as the canon good guy or the hero, while Batman is presented as the stereotypical bad guy . This representation is achieved by the comic through its use of details. Due to the illusion of light and the use of colors, Batman: Ego represents Bruce Wayne s character as a being of purity and innocence and represents Batman as a being of evil and darkness. Batman: Ego uses the illusion of light to portray Bruce Wayne s character in a positive way and the character of Batman in a negative way. Every time Bruce Wayne is shown in one of the comic panels, a beam of light is shown over his face or behind him. No matter the background of the comic, Wayne is always clearly visible as if a beam of light is constantly aimed at him. By doing this, the comic is setting Wayne up as a symbol of purity and light. Wayne is like a beacon of hope who strongly contrasts with the dark reality that is Gotham. This use of light is most clearly seen in a panel on page 54. From the very beginning, it is apparent something strange is taking place on Shutter Island and the director leaves the audience to gain the experience of watching everything unfold. The setting of the movie is just as important as any other aspect of the film. The fact that it takes place in a mental hospital/institution on a remote island surrounded by rocky cliffs, huge waves, caves, steeps along with a creepy lighthouse, where it is said cruel experiments take place, screams suspense and thrill. The island is surrounded with tall brick walls laced with electric fencing and only one port to leave and arrive. The facility itself gives off an eerie feel with its creepy architect. For example, take the existence of a shirt which will be referred to as an artifact for the purposes of this analysis. This particular shirt has a collar, buttons, and patches on its chest and sleeves. It is grey in color with red stitching, black accents, and red lining. With further exploration, the shirt is found to contain writing on one of the interior portions underneath the back side of the collar. It reads: Chiliwear 100% Polyester M Made in China. This writing, while seemingly meaningless at first, is highly enlightening on the sophistication of the shirt s creators. A second piece of the shirt near the opening at the bottom contains a tag that reads: MACHINE WASH COLD LIKE COLORS. DO NOT USE [SOFTENERS]. TUMBLE DRY LOW. DO NOT IRON. DO NOT BLEACH. This is the question raised by Lois de Broglie and is the focus of this essay. First we will cover the difference between particles and waves. Then we will cover the origin of this debate, the duality of light and the double slit experiment. Then we will look at the man behind this unorthodox idea, what his scientific background is and his reasons for suggesting this unorthodox idea. In Compton scattering the radiation of high frequency waves off of electrons could only be explained by considering the radiation in terms of quantified particles. So is light a wave or a particle? Throughout the years the debate has gone back and forth and back and forth. In the 19th century Leon Foucault Established that light moves slower in water than in air which is in favor of wave theory in the same century Maxwell proved that light was an electromagnetic wave. But in the 20th century Max Planck discovers that light is quantified and not continuous and Albert Einstein reestablishes particle theory with his mathematical proof of the photoelectric effect. Wilde, Shakespeare and Beckett incorporate two genres in their plays that nursed a strong intrigue interest (Jones, pg 26) comedy and tragedy. According to Aristotle in his Poetics, tragedy in a play is an imitation of an action that is serious, complete and of a certain magnitude composed of plot, character, thought, diction, melody and spectacle, (Myers, pg 118). Conventionally, comedies end happily in which real world conflicts are resolved. In this essay I am going to demonstrate how each of the playwrights challenge the traditional ideology of comedy and tragedy. Comical elements in Othello are limited, however a neoclassical critic stated, there is in this play, some burlesque, some humour and a ramble of comical wit and therefore, Othello as a whole is none other than a Bloody Farce (Rymer). To an extent I agree with this comment, however Othello is evidently more tragic than comical. The distasteful comedy based on racial stereotypes further delineates a tragic response to the play, Awake/...or else the devil will make a grandsire of you (I.I.90 91). I had a black slave in The Alamo, and I had a correct number of blacks in The Green Berets. He said he was guided by clear criteria: If it s supposed to be a black character, naturally I use a black actor. But I don t go so far as hunting for positions for them. However, one black character in The Green Berets is not the correct number that was actually represented in Vietnam, because the number of African American soldiers who served in combat far exceeded their percentage of the population. Thus, Wayne did not accurately portray the racial demographic of the military at the time. Roger Ebert vouched, The Green Berets simply will not do as a film about the war in Vietnam. It is offensive not only to those who opposed American policy but even to those who support it. However, though the film had mixed reviews, and unfavorable critical reception, the film did well at the box office in 1968 and continued to do steady and profitable business in subsequent ... Are People Inherently Good Or Evil The concept of whether or not humans are inherently good or evil is as complex and just as regularly debated by philosophers as to whether or not there is an afterlife. Now if we temporarily ignore the grey scale that is moral and immoral and the fluctuations it may have based on individual morals and instead use a generalisation of what is good and bad, (this consisting of the obvious murder, rape etc) we can freely debate if human nature is inherently good or evil. There are some philosophers like Clancy Martin who argue that people are mostly good but there are also others like Alan Strudler who are more pessimistic and comeback with The idea that people are good because they do mostly good things makes sense only on a desperately low ... The world of light is described by Sinclair as The parental home...its name was Mother and father, it was love and strictness, education and example. What belonged to this world was gently shining radiance, clarity, and cleanliness; quiet friendly conversation; washed hands, clean clothes, good behaviour. (Hesse 1919, p.3) To be direct this parental world consisted of his home and the church; all that was seen as good, pure and moral. While the other world was the opposite and everything outside the home on the streets and the public schools. Sinclair firsts extends his hand to the other world when he lies about stealing apples in order to impress a young boy named Kromer which causes Sinclair to torment himself and thus allows Kromer to do the same when he blackmails him. This is where Sinclair meets his first mentor, Max Demian. This mentor taught Sinclair many wonders and causes him to go into a bout of self discovery. After years of switching between the two worlds, he discovers a god named Abraxas. Damian had once discussed with Sinclair the God Jehovah and how everything that is pure and sacred is given to him while everything that is sinful is seen as the devils. He explains that he believes both worlds should be worshipped as a whole and you must either find a god that is both the Father and the devil or have two gods. This is why the god Abraxas intrigues Sinclair to such a degree as he is the god that reigns over both heavenly and demonic; the combination of the two worlds. This ancient Greek and Egyptian deity shows Sinclair and the reader that a person should not be so concerned and concentrated on immoral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Critical Analysis Of Forman One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest McMurphy points out that Nurse Ratchet is the one who pecks the first peck , and then sits back and watches the patients attack each other. He does not comprehend why the patients succumb to this technique, particularly since they may be next in line as the object of criticism. The patients do appear to have blinders on; they are so blinded by their own disgrace that they cannot see Ratched s actual nature and the way she manipulates and controls them so easily. Nurse Ratchet held in place an extensive system of rules and regulations, as well as an ordered routine. McMurphy taught the patients that sometimes it is acceptable to rebel against the rules and that they do not have to rely on their schedule to keep their minds together. For example, McMurphy states Is that what your schedule does for you? (Forman One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Film). The schedule is a part of the institutionalization of power that Nurse Ratched employs to maintain control and keep the patients compliant to her sense of order. McMurphy points out that it is in fact a sham that cannot cover the messiness of real life. Obviously, they all realize that the schedule is only a made up method for arranging time. Be that as it may, none of them have ever been able to admit it. Other patients on the ward begin to stand up to Nurse Ratchet and her rules. For instance, Cheswick hollers Rules? Piss on your fucking rules, Miss Ratched! (Forman One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Film). A momentary outburst from Cheswick is an indicator that McMurphy has been able to model a sense of indignance at all of their treatment, and this is now being emulated by other patients through their behaviour towards Nurse Ratched. Another instance of patients talking down to Ratchet is when Sefelt states Maybe he ll just show Nurse Ratched his big thing and she ll open the door for him. (Forman One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Film). In this statement the use of sexual language is about empowerment. This makes reference to the possibility that McMurphy holds the key to their liberation from Nurse Ratchet s control through his capacity to dominate her both sexually and otherwise. His ability to stand up to her and challenge her has captured Sefelt s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were Audit Teams that were composed of seasoned Boeing managers, audit teams investigated every facet of the product development process including finance, manufacturing, technology and management. These teams promoted project development by catching errors early and directly reporting them to upper management for resolution. The Management Visibility System schedules were prominently posted for review, and weekly status meetings were held in which department supervisors notified each other of their needs and potential problems. Supervisors were required to stand up at meetings and explain why they were unable to meet production goals. Managers were then entrusted with clearing all hurdles to achieving those goals. The Production Change Board (PCB) reviewed all engineering related change requests and assessed their cost and schedule impact. A feasible implementation approach was then developed for each approved request .By resorting to a wide variety of technical and human resource planning and coordination tools and strategies, Boeing was able to tackle the 767 development project ... Stress Inoculation Stress Stress is the wear and tear our bodies experience as we adjust to our continual changing environment; it has physical and emotional effects on us and can create negative feelings. As a positive influence, stress can help compel us to action; result in a new awareness and an exciting new perspective. As a negative influence stress can result in feelings of distrust, rejection anger, and depression, which in turn can cause health problems such as headaches, upset stomach, rashes, insomnia, ulcers, high pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Mechanisms that explain why students perform badly under stress include hypervigilance (excessive alertness to a stressful situation resulting in panic for example, overstudying for an exam) and premature closure (quickly choosing a solution to end a stressful situation for example, rushing through an exam). (Falk,1995). Students react to college in a variety of ways. For some students, college is stressful because it is an abrupt change from high school. For others, separation from home is a source of stress. Although some stress is necessary for personal growth to occur, the amount of stress can overwhelm students and affect the ability to cope. Since World War II, changes in American higher education includes growth has been a loss of personal attention to students. One measure of excessive stress, or distress, in college students is the use of mental health services. Symptoms commonly report by campus psychiatrists portray a general picture of school related stress, for example, the inability to do school work and the fear of academic failure. One way for teachers to promote more of a healthy learning environment is to reduce stress among students. Studies of teachings that produces the most learning suggest that effective teachers use an analytical and synthetic approach to the subject matter, organize the material well to make it clear, and establish rapport with their students. This poem addresses the conflict between social morality towards child labor and the realization that the elite have influenced societies ways. As the original speaker in the poem sees something black in the snow and approaches the object, it turns out to be a young chimneysweeper crying all alone. Once the speaker has approached the cries, the poem then transitions to a different speaker who is the young chimneysweeper expressing their perception towards their situation, which is being involved in child labor and how the sweepers parents along with a prominent source such as God, Priest Kings (12). bypass the morality of forced labor on the young. In the first quatrain stanza it introduces dialogue between the original speaker and the sweeper. You can see there is dialogue approaching because of the punctuations and quotations used within the stanza. Not only does the punctuation give the reader the idea that another person is involved, but the traditional rhyme scheme AA, BB in the first stanza makes the conversation flow smoothly. The first stanza is the only stanza with rhyming couplets that pairs the two speakers together identifying that both lines back to back is the same person speaking. A little black thing among the snow / Crying weep, weep, in notes of woe! (1 2). The first two lines show the rhyming couplet as the same speaker. The MapReduce was implemented using C + + and has interfaces to Java and Python. The MapReduce was developed by Google but there are some open source implementations, among which stands out the Hadoop (Hadoop 2010). The Hadoop is a framework of free code in Java to run applications that manipulate large amounts of data in distributed environments. The Hadoop is composed by the file system HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System) and a parallel execution environment. Within this environment, or better, the Hadoop framework, several subprojects can be found, such as the implementation of MapReduce, the distributed data management system called HBase, data flow language r and structure for parallel execution called Pig. The main characteristics of the Hadoop are: distributed storage systems, file partitioned into large blocks is distributed on the nodes of the system, blocks replicated to handle hardware failure and a location for temporary data. Unlike other approaches to distributed file systems, the storage and processing of HDFS is done at each node of the system. Greeks believed in the immortality of the soul, but did not believe in the bodily resurrection. Corinthian church members who were affected by this Greek idea had a tendency to not believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus. In response, Paul proved the validity of the Resurrection by presenting authoritative evidence of the Old Testaments and the evidence of witnesses to the bodily resurrection of Jesus. The Resurrection did not happen in the corner secretly, but it was the historical fact that many people witnessed at the same time. Thus, many people saw the resurrected Jesus as the spiritual body. Ludwig Van Beethoven Was Born Ludwig van Beethoven was born, in a small ish German Rhineland city of Bonn in 1769, 1770, and 1772 (it was characteristic of his singularity to be born not once but thrice). The first Ludwig was indeed born in 1769, but, like so many children of that time, expired within a week. The second of the same parentage followed some twenty months later, born (probably) on December 16, 1770, and baptized (certainly) the following day; and the third never really existed, save in the lifelong confusion of Ludwig the second (Siepmann 2006 p. 3) Beethoven had always been unsure of his age so he had asked multiple acquaintances of his as he grew older for information in regards to his birth, yet, every time a person had produced proof of his birth; Beethoven refuted the evidence. If Beethoven had trouble with his age, others, including some who knew him, seemed to have trouble with his names (Siepmann p. 4). Beethoven was referred to by many names throughout his lifetime, he was known variously as Ludwig, Louis, Luis, and Luigi, thereby embracing four nationalities, while his family name appears from time to time as Betthoven, Bethofen, even Bephoven, with van often being exchanged for von (Siepmann p. 4) Sir Beethoven didn t exactly have the easiest of upbringing nor did he have a very comfortable living in his very own household.
