The Battle Of The United States
It had been over a year since anyone had seen an aircraft carrier sitting off the coast; it was a mother
hen looking over her young. The small armada had made good time and arrived in the late evening of
the fifth day. The USS Iowa with her powerful guns standing guard; Sailors were at their battle
stations twenty four seven now, in the morning the transports would make their way into Norfolk
followed by the Iowa. The USS Hornet would remain on duty off the coast; the Iowa would only be in
port long enough to drop off the Admiral, once that was done it would quickly return to the Hornet.
There had been no order to begin air operations for the Hornet, apparently the air space in and around
the Army of the Potomac was going to be somewhat busy very soon, that s all the Admiral knew. At
sunrise the transports and the Iowa made their way to Norfolk, they expected to dock by 0800, the
Admiral and his staff would exit the Iowa as soon as it was safe to leave it. Even though there was no
direct threat against the Hornet the Admiral didn t want to leave her unattended too long. The USS
Iowa was only expected to be in port no more than sixty minutes. She would than return to her duties
over shadowing the Hornet, the Admiral knew he was being a bit paranoid, hell no one even knew
there were here. The transports docked at 0748 and at 0810 the Marines started to disembark,
thousands of them. Once off the ship they formed into Companies, which formed the Battalions, from

The Gynamic Character In Raymond Carver s Cathedral
William H. Macy is well known for his role as Frank Gallagher in the hit TV show Shameless. From
the beginning, we learn that Frank, who is a father of six, is extremely narrow minded and selfish. He
has a hard time understanding his children s thoughts and feelings, which is unusual for the average
father. Like Frank, the narrator in Raymond Carver s short story Cathedral demonstrates his inability
to understand others thoughts and emotions because of his own narrow minded, selfish thoughts and
actions. This is portrayed throughout the beginning of the story. First, we are shown his prejudicial
thoughts towards the blind man simply because he is blind. He then expresses his selfishness as well
as a hint of jealousy when he comments on the relationship between the blind man and his wife, while
displaying an overall negative attitude about the man s visit. Despite his negative characterization,
much like many other intriguing dynamic characters, the narrator comes realize his own blindness
towards the end of the story. This encourages him to be more self aware, as well as sympathetic to
others and the world around him.
Raymond Carver chose to make the narrator a dynamic character to successfully illustrate how many
people, at some point in their life, will realize a certain, unsettling conflict they have within
themselves and learn from it. The narrator being a dynamic character, symbolizes those members in
today s society. In the story, the narrator realizes his internal conflict when despite the image of a
cathedral being on the TV right in front of him, he cannot verbally explain what it is. This creates an
unsettling feeling within the narrator. This then helps him to later realize his own shallow nature and,
in a sense, how he himself is blind . Many people experience this unsettledness within themselves at
some point throughout their life. Once they see these issues within themselves, and overcome their
conflict, they grow as a person, just as the narrator demonstrates throughout the story.
From the start, author Raymond Carver, expresses the narrator s selfishness by his inability to
understand others thoughts and feelings. This is a major factor indicating his overall blindness. In the
beginning of

The Development Of China s Undertakings For The Aged
4.1 Needs of safety Safety needs, are recognized as the fundamental criteria for successful aging
(Narushima, 2008), and the main aim of founding Chinese UAs, according to the white paper of The
Development of China s Undertakings for the Aged (2006). Questions were design to gain
understanding of the changes on physical and mental condition of older students after attending
courses and activities in the UA, from teachers and students perceptions.
Teachers
In order to know the changes after attending the UA, I asked teachers about the overview physical and
psychological condition of older students when they first came to the UA. Teacher A mentioned that
older students were required to state their health condition through filling in related content in the
registration form. Both teachers indicated that most of older students are healthy, while they have they
have chronic health problems generally, high blood pressure, hearth diseases, arthritis and so forth.
Teacher B: In general, female students choose dancing courses to keep good posture and nice shape,
which can be understand as the desire for good health condition and image. However, since some of
them had not exercise for a long time, their physical strength and endurance were not good when they
first came to my class. Even some of the students cannot take the whole class, or feel too joint pains.

Planificarea strategica orientate catre pita a inceput sa intre pentru prima data in atentia marilor

A Tribe Apart Essay
A Tribe Apart
To believe that no one in this world understands what you are going through on any given day. To feel
that you are the only person out of the almost seven billion people that populate this universe who can
experience the feelings of desire, hurt, pain, happiness, sadness, confusion, emptiness and joy.
Sometimes all at the same time can these feelings be amongst you. This is how, in my own words that
I would define the meaning of Personal Fable.
To be the center of attention when there is good and bad happening and the feeling you have thereafter
depends on what you think that others think of you. They are always watching you as you imagine.

The Sutter family is black. Being black makes it twice as hard to prove yourself. Black adolescents are
often labeled as Trouble and Ghetto . Even though Charles is in gifted and talented classes, plays
several sports and serves as the class leader he is considered a tightly wound young man acutely aware
of the restraints and responsibilities his race imposes . Charles never seems to be at ease because he is
constantly dealing with not feeling free of the burden of proving himself. He is Mr. Perfect Black . He
is the rare face of the class. He is the black sheep of the group who wants, solely to fit in despite the
color of his skin. Charles displays the acts of Imaginary Audience and Egocentrism both. Because
Charles is the rare black face he feels like he is never good enough nor as smart as them. His attitude
becomes that if he has to perform, he will perform and proves that he is better than them if he is tried.
Once he beat up another student just to prove that he is capable of protecting and defending himself as

My Experience With Mba Student Team Development
As a Project Manager (PM), developing high performing teams helps me deliver projects successfully.
Team members are like family; you don t get to choose them. In my 10 year Project Management
career, building productive teams of individuals with varying skills, gender, age, culture, work ethics,
has been my biggest challenge.
One of the most quoted Team development models was proposed by Bruce Tuckman in 1960. The five
developmental sequence are: Forming; Storming; Norming, Performing and Adjourning.
In this paper, I have used this model to compare and contrast my experience with the MBA student
team development exercise and my experience as PM in my current job. Why was my experience in
these 2 environments, different?
Stage 1 Forming: When enthusiastic individuals come together to form a team:
For the exercise, the teams were pre assigned. Our team consisted of a diverse group of folks from the
perspective of gender, ethnicity, age, professional background and experience. With the activity
duration set at 1 hour, the team did both, introduction and understanding of the assignment at the same
time. This team truly formed itself and equal leadership was established among the MBA students,
within the first minute or two
In the real world too, the project team members are pre assigned and they are excited and ready to
contribute. Unlike in the exercise, in the real world, team members don t establish equal leadership.
They look for a leader to lead and guide them. As

Three Messages From Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Analysis
Three Messages From Rime
( An Analysis of Three Messages from Rime of the Ancient Mariner )
In the poem Rime of the Ancient Mariner an old man spots a young kid, and just knows that he must
talk to him and tell him his story. Various feelings, emotions and actions are expressed throughout this
old man s story, and for whatever reason the young boy not only hears but completely listens to what
the man has to say. After the man s story was done, there were three messages that came form his
story and were now passed onto to the young boy s mind. Three of the messages that stuck out the
most in this poem were, the definite distinction between the young and the old, the next messages
would be guilt, and lastly having a respect for nature would be the last of the three messages that came
about throughout this story.
Many things can make the distinction between the old and the young. For instance, as young adults, or
even young kids, it is often that we get discredited and dehumanized for all that we do and of course
because of the age that we are. Young people, have the reputation for being immature and
unknowledgeable. This for some reason is how it s been for ages. Now on the other hand, elders or
anyone i d say thirty and up are known as more knowledgeable and definitely more mature. Simply
because they have walked this earth far longer than the youngins. Older people see the world and life
differently than younger people do. It s

underlying theme within this case as well as the reasoning behind the proposed strategic alternative is:
how to increase the sales and alter the consumption habits of the target consumer market. We describe
the industry and the company s position within the industry the behavioral aspects of the target
consumer market and its relationship to this company. After careful study of theoretical reasoning, we
ve found that consumers with lower self esteem tend to spend less. Our strategic alternatives therefore

Because of this plus size consumers purchase less plus sized clothes with the idea that they will be
returning to their normal size soon. Plus size consumers who feel this way would be more motivated
to purchase clothes that fit them if there were no negative or adverse perceptions and attitudes toward
plus size clothes. Furthermore if plus size consumers were more acceptant and confident about their
current body size and body image it would lead to a potential increase in sales. II. Discuss the real
world changes that appear to be occurring with respect to media images of women. What are the
reasons for this? With the plus size clothing industry at a critical turning point, where it has grown and
is continuing to grow it leaves room for Lane Bryant and other plus size retailers to expand. A market
research report conducted by IBISWorld returned the following results. According to IBISWorld
analyst, Nikoleta Panteva, the plus sized fashion industry segment is bucking the trend. Retailers in
this industry specialize in plus size women s clothing, which is clothing proportioned specifically for
larger women, including plus size dresses, plus size pants, plus size tops and plus size outerwear. The

Interests in the Persian Gulf
America s direct involvement in the Persian Gulf began in the early 1990s when Iraqi President
Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. Tensions that were building in the Middle East were unleashed
causing a chain reaction over the next decade of violent attacks on Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the
United States, and rebellions within Iraq. After the September 11th attacks, America s national
military strategy shifted from countering belligerent states to countering violent extremist
organizations that undermine transregional security of the Persian Gulf.
Despite the shift in adversaries, the interests in the Persian Gulf have not shifted since our previous
involvement. Currently, the United States military strategy in the Persian Gulf is shaped around three
key interests: democracy promotion, peace and stability, and securing an open international economic
system. These three interests seek to protect United States national security and can be achieved
through diplomatic measures.

Who Is Dennis Depue Responsible For The Murder Of Jeepers...
While most horror movies are made up with creepy ghosts, vampires and murderers, Jeepers Creepers
was originally based on a real story. The winged monster and other details were fabricated, but the
essential story was based on Dennis DePue. At the time of the filming, DePue had not yet been caught
for his crime. A Wife Is Murdered In 1990, Dennis DePue was on the run. According to authorities,
DePue murdered his wife and left her body behind an empty schoolhouse. Since he was never
charged, the real reasons for the murder are unknown. Most people think that DePue s wife filed for
divorce, and he killed her in a fit of rage. He would never have been discovered, but an unlucky turn
of events led to him becoming the main suspect. While DePue was finishing up with his wife, Ray and
Marie Thornton happened to drive along the same stretch of road. As he left, he followed them in his
van for a few miles and ultimately reported it to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While is it a thrilling (some might say completely terrifying) feature, fans may be surprised to learn
that the story itself might not be completely rooted in fantasy. Eleven years before Jeepers Creepers
was even created, fugitive Dennis DePue was on the run, being sought by the police, after the body of
his wife Marilyn was discovered abandoned behind a church. And episode of Unsolved Mysteries
aired the details of the brutal murder of Marilyn DePue almost a year after her death. The early part of
the movie copied the dialogue and scenes from the Unsolved Mysteries episode. Interestingly, film
director Victor Salva credited Steven Spielberg s Duel as the inspiration instead of Unsolved
Mysteries. He may have imagined that no one would make the connection, but the similarities were
noticed by viewers. The Final

Social Benefits Of Youth Sports
Research Findings on Social Benefits of Youth Sport * Playing informal, playercontrolled sports
provides young people with opportunities to organize group activities, resolve interpersonal conflicts,
solve problems, and sustain the consensus and cooperative relationships required to play competitive
games (Martinek Hellison, 1997). * Playing organized, adultcontrolled sports provides young people
with opportunities to participate in relationships with adult authority figures and engage in rule
governed teamwork in the pursuit of a shared goal. * Youth sports expand a young person s social
network when they are organized to facilitate meaningful interaction with teammates and opponents. *
Young people are less likely to engage in violence off the field when they participate in sport
programs that teach a philosophy of nonviolence, respect for self and others, the importance of fitness
and self control, confidence in physical skills, and a sense of responsibility to self and others. * When
young people participate in local, community sponsored youth sport, they are more likely to become
engaged in civic activities as adults. * Youth sport provides opportunities to meet adults who may
become helpful mentors and advocates in a young person s life. * Youth sport increases social
awareness and sensitivity when young people have opportunities to play with peers from different
social and cultural backgrounds and different levels of physical ability.

Feminist Theory
Feminism refers to political, cultural, and economic movements aimed at establishing greater rights,
legal protection for women, and or women s liberation. It includes some of the sociological theories
and philosophies concerned with issues of gender difference. Nancy Cott defines feminism as the
belief in the importance of gender equality, invalidating the idea of gender hierarchy as a socially
constructed concept.
Feminism has earned itself a bad reputation, but it never undermined gender differences that exist
between males and females. A man can never be as good a mother as a female can. Similarly, a
woman can never be as good a father as a male can. While accepting these anatomical and
physiological differences between the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They challenge the assumption that gender oppression is the primary force of patriarchy. They object
to portrayals of women of non Western societies as passive and voiceless victims and the portrayal of
Western women as modern, educated, and empowered.
Today, they struggle to fight gender oppression within their own cultural models of society rather than
through those imposed by the Western colonizers. They, thus, react against both universalizing
tendencies in Western feminist thought and a lack of attention to gender issues in mainstream
postcolonial thought.
Some postcolonial feminists, such as Chandra Talpade Mohanty and Black feminists, such as Angela
Davis and Alice Walker, are critical of Western feminism for being ethnocentric. Chandra Talpade
Mohanty criticizes Western feminism on the ground that it does not take into account the unique
experiences of women from third world countries or the existence of feminisms indigenous to third
world countries. This discourse is strongly related to African feminism and is also associated with
concepts such as black feminism, womanism, Africana womanism, motherism, Stiwanism,
negofeminism, chicana feminism, and femalism.
Pro feminism is the support of feminism without implying that the supporter is a member of the
feminist movement. The term is most often used in reference to men who are actively

Spiritualism is a form of worship that believes in both a world of matter and material things, such as

Hawaii was partially spiritualism and also polytheistic. Polytheism is the belief in many gods.

Many were driven from their homes to reservations, or forced to bend a knee to the white man s ways.
One tribe, the Cherokee, was compelled to leave their lands in Oklahoma by the United States

Duality Of War
I found Copenhagen to be intriguing and complex as Frayn combined science with philosophical
insight through the story of two of the most significant physicists, Bohr and Heisenberg. The play
delves into the battle of ethics regarding the use of science for war efforts. Rather than trying to
discover raw facts of the conversation between Bohr and Heisenberg regarding the formation of the
atomic bomb, Frayn focuses on the friendship between the two scientists. I find this approach
important as it highlights the humanity in the situation. The relationship between the two strains and

the structure of their relationship and the concepts of quantum mechanics, Frayn reaches for meaning

Through Heisenberg, Frayn points to the idea that we can never truly know a person and the things

acting and thereby die. Moreover, we never truly know what happened during the conversation

present is precious in part because of its uncertainty, of its well defined place and poorly defined
meaning. Through the historical conversation between Bohr and Heisenberg, Frayn expresses the
philosophy suggesting a degree of uncertainty that bleeds into every aspect of our relationships and

The results to the test have changed over time and as they should. We all constantly evolve on a micro
level and most of the time these changes are through the realm of mind and spirit and emotion. I have
become more introverted over time because I have realized that while I might have some knowledge
in some areas, other people have other knowledge in other areas. I love learning and I love hearing
other people s stories. When you have a discussion with someone, you want to feel listened to and you
want to feel valuable. If you just talk over someone the whole time, they are not going to be as
inclined to speak with you. As an ambivert I have the best of both worlds because I try my best to
draw on the positives of introversion and also extroversion while sticking to my true self which is
emotional, judgment infused with a healthy amount of emotion, and my preference to organization
and working systems, which is grounded in my love for history. Overall, I really love this test because
it is a good guide that tells me more about myself, my interaction with other people, and how I have

Comparing The Machine Stops And The Allegory Of The Cave
Suppose one day you were told you no longer needed to go to work, you could provide enough food
for your family, and your health was taken care of would you do it? Although we may think we want
to live in this kind of world, utopian societies are misleading: similar to the society s observed in The
Machine Stops by E.M. Forster and The Allegory of the Cave by Plato. No doubt, the natural intention
of human beings is to be virtuous and moral. Ironically however, striving to live in a utopia
consequentially is harmful for mankind. Those who strive to live in a perfect world are obligated to
surrender their freedom and frame of mind. Therefore, the intention of this paper is to analyze Plato
and Forster s approach about the consequences of what happens when a rational agent allows
something other than itself to take control over it, and how this can eventually dehumanize humanity.
Forster does a clever job of emphasizing the powerful destruction technology can do to mankind by
correlating man made machine and religion. In the story, Vashti is seen living in a utopia and is
unaware the Machine has taken control of her life. The story takes a dramatic turn when her son Kuno

It is essential to remember that the setting of The Machine Stops was published during America s
rebellion against government corruption and the transition from the industrial revolution to the
progressive era. The fear of living in a dystopia is why Forster warns society about the negative
impact of technology. What we consider utopian may actually be a dystopia in disguise. Once again,
society mistakenly gives technology the same power as god, and therefore allow it to control the

Code Talkers Chapter Summary
Code Talkers was written by Chester Nez with the help of Judith Schiess Avila. Chester Nez, a Navajo
WWII veteran, was one of the original twenty nine Native Americans who came up with and wrote the
top secret Navajo code used during the World War II. This code was a turning point in the war against
the Japanese. Judith Avila is a cod talker scholar with the New Mexico Endowment for the Humanities
Chautauqua Program, she conducted over eighty hours with Chester and his son Michael.
The beginning of the book starts off with Chester s early childhood on the reservation. During the
1920 s life on the Checkerboard Area of the Navajo Reservation was not an easy life for anyone to
grow up on. There was no plumbing, electricity, modern housing nor any cars and the winters were
harsh and summers long and hot. However, the mesas had its own beauty and it offered plenty of land
great for raising sheep and goats and the land was ideal for the Navajo people to celebrate and keep in
contact with their spiritual connects to nature. Chester treasured his memory growing up there and
described how in his early childhood he would follow his family around the reservation tending to
their flock of sheep and goats. He never had a worry in the world and took ... Show more content on

I had always taken that part of WWII as more or less just part of history and it really didn t affect me,
seeing as the war was over. This book has given me an even greater respect for Navajos. Being able to

what once got him beat if he spoke it changed how I view the way. Being about to see it though the
eye of Chester has put the war in color for me and I have so much more respect for that part of history
and it has made me more appreciative of what I use to take for granted. I would recommend it to

A Comparison of Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic Cells Essay
A Comparison of Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic Cells
There are two main types of cells in the world. The simplest cells such as bacteria are known as
Prokaryotic cells, and human cells are known as Eukaryotic cells. The main difference between each
of these cells is that a eukaryotic cell has a nucleus and a membrane bound section in which the cell
holds the main DNA which are building blocks of life.
Prokaryotic cells do not have a nucleus. The chromosomes which are found in prokaryotes are usually
spread in the cytoplasm. In eukaryotic cells the chromosomes remain together inside the nucleus and
there is a clear nuclear membrane that is surrounding the nucleus.
Another difference between the two cells is that, in prokaryotic cells ... Show more content on

The Stop And Frisk Police Essay
The stop, question, and frisk policy qualifies as a criminal justice issue that has captured the attention
of public nationwide. Empirical research has presented evidence that the stop and frisk police is
disproportionately used against minorities, which indicates the prevalence of racial profiling. Firstly,
statistical databases have shown that the New York Police Departments have stopped and frisked
approximately 685,000 persons since 2011, with 85 percent of those individuals representing African
Americans and Latino Americans (Zamani, 2012). Many of the individuals are male. The statistical
representation, unaccompanied, speaks volumes that the racial profiling is prevalent in the practice.
The racial profiling of minorities violates the constitutional rights of the individuals that are stop and
frisked based on their skin color.
Secondly, research shown that approximately 6% percent of the stops and frisk have caused
individuals being arrested and 2% in the recovery of illegal weapons ( Report of The NYPD S , 2013).
This statistical data demonstrates how the stop and frisk policy is ineffective at achieving the objective
of removing illegal weapons off of the streets, however, it is effective at removing illegal substances
off of the streets. In many of the cases, the police officer instructs the individual to remove illegal
substances from their pockets and then arrested and convicted of a misdemeanor for having marijuana

Abstract
The article Making the Most of Foreign Factories , written by Kasra Ferdows discusses how
companies can and should obtain the full potential of their factories abroad. She begins by stating that
there are two approaches to manufacturing and a factory s importance to the company is based on the
approach the manager of the factory takes. She also exclaims how she thinks the gap between
companies that treat their foreign factories as a source of competitive advantage and those that do not
is widening.
Next, Ferdows discusses the three current realities of global business. She follows by illustrating the

Powerful suppliers increase the cost of purchased materials. (Miltenburg). The next force is the
bargaining power of buyers. The more options buyers have for a certain product the more power they
have. Powerful customers decrease prices for finished products. (Miltenburg). The last force is the
rivalry among competitors in the industry. Tough competition decreases prices and increases costs
such as marketing and new product research and development. (Miltenburg). However, in the past
couple of years there has been a new trend, bringing manufacturing back to the United States.
According to Anne Kates Smith, the Boston Consulting Group predicts a manufacturing renaissance in
the United States to be in full gear by the year 2020. There are many reasons for this trend starting
with rising wages abroad and high oil prices, which have increased shipping costs dramatically.
Offshoring companies have also encountered hidden costs resulting from long lead times, quality
control issues, and the separation of production from design and engineering teams. (Smith). Another
main attraction to the United States is that the cost of factory powered natural gas is much less in the
United States than in other countries. This factory powered natural gas is not only a main component
in producing chemicals, but as more companies begin to focus on being socially responsible the

Selfies aren t always a bad influence and don t always make people judge themselves so critically. So

Selfies help people express themselves in ways they would have never before. You are usually very
comfortable with your own self taking pictures and not others, therefore you can be funny, nerdy, or
sexy without feeling judged. Time magazine reports that selfies can just be an outlet of self expression
and we shouldn t be so consumed with all the selfies floating in cyber space. Self captured images
allow young adults and teens to express their mood states and share important experiences, says Dr.
Andrea Letamendi, a clinical psychologist and research fellow at UCLA. As teens and adolescents try
to form their identity, selfies serve as a way to test how they look, and therefore feel, in certain outfits,
make up, poses and places. And because we live in a digital world, selfies provide a way of
participating and interacting with that world. Selfies has also allowed women to publicly celebrate
their flaws. For example, Demi Lovato has posted selfies to Instagram without any makeup on and has
encouraged her fans to do likewise. Other sites have been supporting women to take selfies everyday
for a year, regardless of how they

Essay Compare And Contrast Jamestown And John Smith
Two men came to America with a organization of people on a ship to set up their own colony. Both of
them had a goal and a reason for coming to the new world. When both of them came to set up a
colony they had high hopes. They soon realized it would be a struggle to survive and had to endure a
lot when they decided to come to the new world. They were not exactly the same though and had
some differences and came to the new world for contrasting reasons. Jamestown was settled by the
Virginia Company and Captain John Smith, who was the leader and was one of the reasons why
Jamestown was able to endure and withstand in such difficult circumstances. In Smith s narrative but

Archetypal Themes In The Poem Barter By Sara Teasdale
A person will experience some type of barter transaction in their lifetime. Some may be a reasonable
transaction although that s not always the case. In the real world, most barter transactions have cash
involved in the trade. But the speaker of this piece is explaining that this barter can not be bought with
money. However, it can be bought by a sentimental value that money can t buy, loveliness. Sara is
emphasizing the fact that humans need to open their eyes to what is in front of them. Through the
poem Barter , Sara Teasdale emphasizes the importance of living lovingly within the moment through
the archetypal themes of Carpe diem and love conquers all.

Although Sara uses the word as a different meaning and not literally, it plays a big role in the poem.
She describes in her second stanza about wanting love. The archetypal theme could also represent love
conquers all and the importance of living lovingly. Sara Teasdale talks about wanting several things in
the poem that she would love to own or be apart of. One could possibly describe wanting a significant
other by her side that has Eyes that love you, arms that hold (Sara Teasdale Line ten). To Sara, having
love is just as important as having happiness.
Life is too short to not enjoy it to the maximum potential. That is the message the speaker wants to
persuade the reader with this poem. It is important to appreciate the small materials or moments in life
just like Sara described For one white singing hour of peace (Sara Teasdale Line fifteen). The speaker
is imploring the reader to open their eyes and enjoy the small moments that will help live a lovingly
life. The title is interesting because the barter is technically between only the speaker. At the end of the

Executive Summary
This report provides an analysis and evaluation of the current and prospective delay problems of
Logan International Airport at Boston, Massachusetts. Method of analysis includes waiting line
simulation and historical data tracking as well as response from both local community and Massport.
Results of the data show that the major causes to delay are broken down in the following:
1. Increasing demand for annual operations
2. Adverse weather conditions, especially the northwest wind which Logan airport is not designed to
accommodate at normal capacity.
3. Continuous heavy air traffic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Turboprops and regional airplanes were to be diverted then their delay time would only be 10
minutes in adverse weather conditions. As the delay time would be significantly reduced for regional
and turboprops in this scenario, we believe that the small planes would be willing to make the switch.
This would also free up capacity by 56% at Logan airport so that the conventional planes would also
have a decreased delay time of 22 minutes as compared to an infinite wait time (Figure 2).
However, while this alternative might be favorable in the short term, it is rather unfeasible over the
long term as there would be a significant passenger cost in terms of loss of goodwill. We assume that
the loss of goodwill would be similar to the passenger cost of $30.9/passenger/hour and we include a
car rental cost of $9/passenger/hour for a total passenger switching cost of $40/passenger/hour.
Passengers would likely be upset at arriving at a different location resulting in many inconveniences
and additional costs incurred. If this happens on a regular basis, Logan airport s reputation will be hurt
and this may adversely affect its revenue as well.

The Political And Political Characters Of Israel In The...
God, when are you going to get us out of here? This was the cry of the Israelites when they were in
captivity. Before the book of Ezra, Israel was disobedient to God. As a result, God punishes them by
putting them under the captivity of another nation. During the captivity of the Israelites, God was
orchestrating a plan of restoring for His people and this plan a student can find His plan is in the book
of Ezra. When studying the book of Ezra, God s faithfulness floods over the book! Students need to
identify the political and spiritual background of Israel and key characters to understand the book of
Ezra.
The political background of Israel in the pre exilic era was disastrous. In Israel, there was not a king
who followed God s law, but in Judea there were some kings like Hezekiah and Josiah who followed
God (2 Kings 18:3, 2 Kings 22:2). Thus, when kings do not obey God, they tend to have a temporal
perspective on their ruling. This temporal perspective lends to a lack of prudence. For a nation to run
effectively, the king needs to make sure the national defense is secure and the nation s attitude is
healthy. However, the kings of Israel did not take care of their nation. King Hosea is an example of a
king who did not take care of his country (2 Kings 17:1 6). King Hosea reigned for nine years in
Israel, which was the twelfth year of Ahaz in Judea (2 Kings 17:1 2). During king Hosea s reign, he
become allies with the Assyrian empire, but he did not follow through with his tributes (2 Kings 17:3
4). Thus, the actions of king Hosea caused the kingdom of Israel to fall to the Assyrians (2 Kings 17:5
6).
The spiritual background of Israel in pre exilic era, like the political, was not good. Through the
leadership of the bad kings and the influences of other nations, Israel did not have a pure relationship
with God. Some of the things that Israel did were worshipping other gods, like Baal and Asherah, and
creating altars for other gods (2 Kings 17:7). Therefore, God sent prophets like Jeremiah and Isaiah to
warn the Israelites of their disobedience. However, the warnings from the prophets did not work
because the Israelites hearts were hard to the warnings of God (2 Kings 17:18 20). As a result, God
sent

Allos Musica Critique
The Allos Musica visited Triton College on November 4 to play a concert for the students. Allos
Musica played six pieces, one of them being vocal piece. The first song was called A Cord of Three
Strands. Between song one and two, Ronnie Malley played a solo on the lute. The next piece that the
Allos Musica played was called Shadow to Tomas (I did not get the full title). The Middle Eastern
ensembles played a cover to a piece that Erik Satie composed. Erik Satie is a French composer that
wrote Gnossienne No1. The fourth song was written by James Falzone. He plays the clarinet and is the
leader of Allos Musica. The translation of this song is called Sleepless Nights. I did not get the actual
title due to it being loud in the Parachutes Lounge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was the fist time the ensemble preformed this in front of an audience. Falzone informed us that
this piece was very hard to play. In this song the lute, accordion, clarinet and percussion are played.
This song has a lot of high and low pitches. The music starts off with piano dynamic than increases to
forte dynamic. I assume that the high and low pitch symbolize the sleepless night. To me the high note
symbolizes the moment when I am asleep. On the other hand the low notes are when I have to wake
up due to something sudden.
It is my first time hearing and seeing a harmonium. It is used in more spiritual pieces. A harmonium is
a keyboard instrument in which the notes are produced by air driven through metal reeds by foot
operated bellows. The concept of it reminds me of an accordion. They both work on the same
principle of blowing air to vibrate tuned reeds when keys are pressed. The accordion is played while
holding the instrument with two hands; however, the harmonium is played with it on the floor. On the
first look one would say it is a piano for a little

The Genzanian Genocide And The Rwandan Genocide
The Rwandan Genocide took place for in 1994 where the Hutus began to massacre the Tutsis due to
many years of oppression aided by Belgian influences. While the Palestinian Genocide occurred
between 1947 1948 and Zionists wished to overtake Palestinian land and remove all Arab influences
while expanding upon their territory. Yet, the Rwandan Genocide and the Palestinian Genocide had a
distinguished similarity; to ethnically cleanse the land. Post WWII, Jew s wished for land separate
from European Anti Semitic beliefs. The Holocaust had further pushed Zionists agenda to take
Palestine due to their historical and religious background within the land. Thus, a significant amount
of Jews from Europe and America called for a separate Jewish state. During this time, Britain had a
mandate over Palestine and were authorized to rule the land. However, given that the dispute was
becoming increasingly controversial, the British withdrew from the conflict and gave authority of the
land to the UN. Then the UN had formed the UNSCOP, United Nation Special Committee on
Palestine. Their objective was to separate Jewish and Arab land. There the UN authorized the Israeli
state and caused the displacement of thousands of Palestinians. They had forced the Palestinians to
flee their villages in order to place arriving Jewish settlers. Various tactics were used to remove
Palestinians from the land. For instance. Israelis used arab radio broadcasts to inhibit fear within the
arab community. Such

  • 2. The Battle Of The United States It had been over a year since anyone had seen an aircraft carrier sitting off the coast; it was a mother hen looking over her young. The small armada had made good time and arrived in the late evening of the fifth day. The USS Iowa with her powerful guns standing guard; Sailors were at their battle stations twenty four seven now, in the morning the transports would make their way into Norfolk followed by the Iowa. The USS Hornet would remain on duty off the coast; the Iowa would only be in port long enough to drop off the Admiral, once that was done it would quickly return to the Hornet. There had been no order to begin air operations for the Hornet, apparently the air space in and around the Army of the Potomac was going to be somewhat busy very soon, that s all the Admiral knew. At sunrise the transports and the Iowa made their way to Norfolk, they expected to dock by 0800, the Admiral and his staff would exit the Iowa as soon as it was safe to leave it. Even though there was no direct threat against the Hornet the Admiral didn t want to leave her unattended too long. The USS Iowa was only expected to be in port no more than sixty minutes. She would than return to her duties over shadowing the Hornet, the Admiral knew he was being a bit paranoid, hell no one even knew there were here. The transports docked at 0748 and at 0810 the Marines started to disembark, thousands of them. Once off the ship they formed into Companies, which formed the Battalions, from ... • 3. The Gynamic Character In Raymond Carver s Cathedral William H. Macy is well known for his role as Frank Gallagher in the hit TV show Shameless. From the beginning, we learn that Frank, who is a father of six, is extremely narrow minded and selfish. He has a hard time understanding his children s thoughts and feelings, which is unusual for the average father. Like Frank, the narrator in Raymond Carver s short story Cathedral demonstrates his inability to understand others thoughts and emotions because of his own narrow minded, selfish thoughts and actions. This is portrayed throughout the beginning of the story. First, we are shown his prejudicial thoughts towards the blind man simply because he is blind. He then expresses his selfishness as well as a hint of jealousy when he comments on the relationship between the blind man and his wife, while displaying an overall negative attitude about the man s visit. Despite his negative characterization, much like many other intriguing dynamic characters, the narrator comes realize his own blindness towards the end of the story. This encourages him to be more self aware, as well as sympathetic to others and the world around him. Raymond Carver chose to make the narrator a dynamic character to successfully illustrate how many people, at some point in their life, will realize a certain, unsettling conflict they have within themselves and learn from it. The narrator being a dynamic character, symbolizes those members in today s society. In the story, the narrator realizes his internal conflict when despite the image of a cathedral being on the TV right in front of him, he cannot verbally explain what it is. This creates an unsettling feeling within the narrator. This then helps him to later realize his own shallow nature and, in a sense, how he himself is blind . Many people experience this unsettledness within themselves at some point throughout their life. Once they see these issues within themselves, and overcome their conflict, they grow as a person, just as the narrator demonstrates throughout the story. From the start, author Raymond Carver, expresses the narrator s selfishness by his inability to understand others thoughts and feelings. This is a major factor indicating his overall blindness. Team members are like family; you don t get to choose them. In my 10 year Project Management career, building productive teams of individuals with varying skills, gender, age, culture, work ethics, has been my biggest challenge. One of the most quoted Team development models was proposed by Bruce Tuckman in 1960. The five developmental sequence are: Forming; Storming; Norming, Performing and Adjourning. In this paper, I have used this model to compare and contrast my experience with the MBA student team development exercise and my experience as PM in my current job. Why was my experience in these 2 environments, different? Stage 1 Forming: When enthusiastic individuals come together to form a team: For the exercise, the teams were pre assigned. Our team consisted of a diverse group of folks from the perspective of gender, ethnicity, age, professional background and experience. With the activity duration set at 1 hour, the team did both, introduction and understanding of the assignment at the same time. This team truly formed itself and equal leadership was established among the MBA students, within the first minute or two In the real world too, the project team members are pre assigned and they are excited and ready to contribute. Various feelings, emotions and actions are expressed throughout this old man s story, and for whatever reason the young boy not only hears but completely listens to what the man has to say. It includes some of the sociological theories and philosophies concerned with issues of gender difference. Overall, I really love this test because it is a good guide that tells me more about myself, my interaction with other people, and how I have changed as a person over time. • 20. Comparing The Machine Stops And The Allegory Of The Cave Suppose one day you were told you no longer needed to go to work, you could provide enough food for your family, and your health was taken care of would you do it? Although we may think we want to live in this kind of world, utopian societies are misleading: similar to the society s observed in The Machine Stops by E.M. Forster and The Allegory of the Cave by Plato. No doubt, the natural intention of human beings is to be virtuous and moral. Ironically however, striving to live in a utopia consequentially is harmful for mankind. Those who strive to live in a perfect world are obligated to surrender their freedom and frame of mind. Therefore, the intention of this paper is to analyze Plato and Forster s approach about the consequences of what happens when a rational agent allows something other than itself to take control over it, and how this can eventually dehumanize humanity. Forster does a clever job of emphasizing the powerful destruction technology can do to mankind by correlating man made machine and religion. In the story, Vashti is seen living in a utopia and is unaware the Machine has taken control of her life. The story takes a dramatic turn when her son Kuno ... Once again, society mistakenly gives technology the same power as god, and therefore allow it to control the human spirit. There was no plumbing, electricity, modern housing nor any cars and the winters were harsh and summers long and hot. However, the mesas had its own beauty and it offered plenty of land great for raising sheep and goats and the land was ideal for the Navajo people to celebrate and keep in contact with their spiritual connects to nature. Empirical research has presented evidence that the stop and frisk police is disproportionately used against minorities, which indicates the prevalence of racial profiling. As the delay time would be significantly reduced for regional and turboprops in this scenario, we believe that the small planes would be willing to make the switch. This would also free up capacity by 56% at Logan airport so that the conventional planes would also have a decreased delay time of 22 minutes as compared to an infinite wait time (Figure 2). However, while this alternative might be favorable in the short term, it is rather unfeasible over the long term as there would be a significant passenger cost in terms of loss of goodwill. We assume that the loss of goodwill would be similar to the passenger cost of $30.9/passenger/hour and we include a car rental cost of $9/passenger/hour for a total passenger switching cost of $40/passenger/hour. • 43. The Political And Political Characters Of Israel In The... God, when are you going to get us out of here? This was the cry of the Israelites when they were in captivity. Before the book of Ezra, Israel was disobedient to God. As a result, God punishes them by putting them under the captivity of another nation. During the captivity of the Israelites, God was orchestrating a plan of restoring for His people and this plan a student can find His plan is in the book of Ezra. When studying the book of Ezra, God s faithfulness floods over the book! Students need to identify the political and spiritual background of Israel and key characters to understand the book of Ezra. The political background of Israel in the pre exilic era was disastrous. In Israel, there was not a king who followed God s law, but in Judea there were some kings like Hezekiah and Josiah who followed God (2 Kings 18:3, 2 Kings 22:2). Thus, when kings do not obey God, they tend to have a temporal perspective on their ruling. This temporal perspective lends to a lack of prudence. For a nation to run effectively, the king needs to make sure the national defense is secure and the nation s attitude is healthy. However, the kings of Israel did not take care of their nation. King Hosea is an example of a king who did not take care of his country (2 Kings 17:1 6). King Hosea reigned for nine years in Israel, which was the twelfth year of Ahaz in Judea (2 Kings 17:1 2). During king Hosea s reign, he become allies with the Assyrian empire, but he did not follow through with his tributes (2 Kings 17:3 4). Thus, the actions of king Hosea caused the kingdom of Israel to fall to the Assyrians (2 Kings 17:5 6). The spiritual background of Israel in pre exilic era, like the political, was not good. Through the leadership of the bad kings and the influences of other nations, Israel did not have a pure relationship with God. Some of the things that Israel did were worshipping other gods, like Baal and Asherah, and creating altars for other gods (2 Kings 17:7). Therefore, God sent prophets like Jeremiah and Isaiah to warn the Israelites of their disobedience. However, the warnings from the prophets did not work because the Israelites hearts were hard to the warnings of God (2 Kings 17:18 20). As a result, God sent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Allos Musica Critique The Allos Musica visited Triton College on November 4 to play a concert for the students. Allos Musica played six pieces, one of them being vocal piece. The first song was called A Cord of Three Strands. Between song one and two, Ronnie Malley played a solo on the lute. The next piece that the Allos Musica played was called Shadow to Tomas (I did not get the full title). The Middle Eastern ensembles played a cover to a piece that Erik Satie composed. Erik Satie is a French composer that wrote Gnossienne No1. The fourth song was written by James Falzone. He plays the clarinet and is the leader of Allos Musica. The translation of this song is called Sleepless Nights. I did not get the actual title due to it being loud in the Parachutes Lounge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was the fist time the ensemble preformed this in front of an audience. Falzone informed us that this piece was very hard to play. In this song the lute, accordion, clarinet and percussion are played. This song has a lot of high and low pitches. The music starts off with piano dynamic than increases to forte dynamic. I assume that the high and low pitch symbolize the sleepless night. To me the high note symbolizes the moment when I am asleep. On the other hand the low notes are when I have to wake up due to something sudden. It is my first time hearing and seeing a harmonium. It is used in more spiritual pieces. A harmonium is a keyboard instrument in which the notes are produced by air driven through metal reeds by foot operated bellows. The concept of it reminds me of an accordion. They both work on the same principle of blowing air to vibrate tuned reeds when keys are pressed. The accordion is played while holding the instrument with two hands; however, the harmonium is played with it on the floor. On the first look one would say it is a piano for a little ... • 45. The Genzanian Genocide And The Rwandan Genocide The Rwandan Genocide took place for in 1994 where the Hutus began to massacre the Tutsis due to many years of oppression aided by Belgian influences. While the Palestinian Genocide occurred between 1947 1948 and Zionists wished to overtake Palestinian land and remove all Arab influences while expanding upon their territory. Yet, the Rwandan Genocide and the Palestinian Genocide had a distinguished similarity; to ethnically cleanse the land. Post WWII, Jew s wished for land separate from European Anti Semitic beliefs. The Holocaust had further pushed Zionists agenda to take Palestine due to their historical and religious background within the land. Thus, a significant amount of Jews from Europe and America called for a separate Jewish state. During this time, Britain had a mandate over Palestine and were authorized to rule the land. However, given that the dispute was becoming increasingly controversial, the British withdrew from the conflict and gave authority of the land to the UN. Then the UN had formed the UNSCOP, United Nation Special Committee on Palestine. Their objective was to separate Jewish and Arab land. There the UN authorized the Israeli state and caused the displacement of thousands of Palestinians. They had forced the Palestinians to flee their villages in order to place arriving Jewish settlers. Various tactics were used to remove Palestinians from the land. For instance. Israelis used arab radio broadcasts to inhibit fear within the arab community. Such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
