Write An Essay On The Assyrians
During the 7th century the Assyrians built a superpower reinforced by their military, political,
sociological, and artistic ideologies. The Army consisted of a 100,000 strong active force who trained
different divisions to perform certain tactics during wartime. Similar to modern day warfare, some of
the personnel wore armor, some were trained for the cavalry, some were foot soldiers, while others
were trained to construct equipment used to siege city walls (WeaponsandWarfare.) With each
civilization that the Assyrians conquered, they learned and developed new techniques. The Assyrian
combined the use of chariots with horses, developed roads, placed forts for security and storage for
food along the way. Their logistic strategy allowed for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Ashurbanipal was one of the last Assyrian Kings who reigned from 668 to 627 BCE. He created
a library in the city of Nineveh, located near modern day Mosul, Iraq. Ashurbanipal wrote to cities
across the empire asking them to send copies of their written work (Ashurnipal.) Our modern day
equivalent of this great library is the Library of Congress, located in Washington D.C. The Library of
Congress is the largest library in the world, composed of about 164 million items on 838 miles of
bookshelves. The Library receives approximately 15,000 pieces of literature each day and houses

The Sorrow Of Soreness Summary
In her article, The Sorrow of Soreness: Infirmity and Suicide in Medieval England , Rebecca
McNamara sets out to examine the interpretations of what it meant to commit suicide in the context of
the middle ages. Using bureaucratic records, McNamara analyzes how infirmity was used to frame
suicide and examines how it was an emotionally meaningful way of explaining it in its aftermath.
McNamara demonstrates how infirmity played an important role in the history of emotions as they
related to suicide in the Middle Ages. McNamara begins her article by describing how the emotional
history of suicide has largely been ignored by historians. She stresses the importance of understanding
how suicide was framed, and how the default connection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The textual records that exist that mention suicide are the ones in turn that offer the fewest details in
terms of emotions, that of legal records. These legal records provide the best source for information on
medieval suicides, and McNamara s use of them helps strengthen her article. These sources available
to her providing an intriguing connection between the daily lives and deaths of people in these times,
and their connection to the law, and how the latter can speak volumes as source material. While
certain emotions were marked as being inappropriate for description within the purview of legal
documents, infirmity, in contrast, was deemed to be appropriate for this type of text, and could be used
to explain the impulse to self killing and to frame responses to such an event. McNamara s central
concern is in examining how infirmity was the primary legal context existing that was used to frame
suicide. McNamara spends a considerable amount of her article depicting suicide as they were
described in the legal records of the age, particularly through an examination of the records that
survive from the reign of Edward I. Here, she uses several cases in which infirmity is mentioned to
make her point. McNamara notes that more records related to suicide survive rom this reign than any
other in a 150 year period. In her analysis, McNamara benefits from the writs that survive because
they help to provide validity for the conclusions she draws and support her argument. These medieval
english court rolls and crown writs demonstrate how infirmity was an emotionally meaningful way of
explaining and responding to suicide. McNamara demonstrates how there were consequences to
suicide and repercussions for one s property and goods. Under English law, suicide was regarded as a

Moral Revelation Theme
Moral revelation and redemption seems to be the focus of Flannery O Connor s theme in A Good Man
is Hard to Find, Revelation, and Everything that Rises Must Converge. O Connor s upbringing
stemmed from southern roots with a strong religious foundation from which she seems to center her
short stories. Although she is a master at integrating different themes throughout her stories, her dark
comedic style of writing allows her to question one s ability to live a good, proper Christian life,
without inducing hatred or bigotry. O Connor often questions her characters ethics, morals, and how
aware they are spiritually. She brings to light the sinful lives many live by interjecting a condemning
or judgmental attitude. She does however, infer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mrs. Turpin, a professed saved Christian, is quite judgmental, prejudice, and has an inconsistent view
of Christianity. She is critical of those she vies as below her economic status as less than she. The
revelation she receives comes from Mary Grace, a young girl Mrs. Turpin has heavily judged. The girl
s name is a symbol O Connor uses as a symbol of good as opposed to the bad ethics Mrs. Turpin
displays. The physical eye contact and focus Mary Grace had on Mrs. Turpin was a symbol of Mary
Grace helping Mrs. Turpin reach redemption. Again, as in the other two short stories, O Connor allows
the characters an option of seeking redemption. Mrs. Turpin had the option of facing her judgmental
falsities, by looking Mary Grace in the eye, or not choosing to r4ealize and change her behavior, by
looking away from Mary

George Orwell’s Down and Out in Paris and London Essay
George Orwell s Down and Out in Paris and London Days without food, nights without shelter and
clothes without buttons are reality for homeless people around the world. Many are incapable of
escaping their poverty and can not seem to find a way out of their bleak oppression. The few that do
escape often help each other find a way to make their lives better and do not forget how to maintain
friendships. George Orwell s novel, Down and Out in Paris and London, displays the ability of those
in poverty to escape their horrific lot in life through friendships and connections. The common goal of
shelter and freedom from oppression bonds many of the lower class. Many in poverty work together to

Boris, Orwell s Russian acquaintance, is no better off than Orwell, but when Orwell and Boris bond
together, they are able to cope with poverty together. In fact, when Orwell locates Boris, he is in such
a weak and emotionally distressed state that Orwell, hurried downstairs and bought a loaf of bread
(28). Orwell, who already has very little money, shares what he has with Boris in an attempt to support
a fellow member of the lower class. After this incident Boris and Orwell are allied in the search for
jobs. In the quest for jobs, Boris and Orwell trek across Paris together to apply for employment. Boris
often hinders Orwell because of his limp that often prevents them from finding occupations. However,
Orwell does not leave his friend. Boris also uses his connections to find jobs for both himself and
Orwell. Neither Boris nor Orwell gives up, Oh, we shall find something (29), because they support
each other both physically and mentally. Even when Orwell is in a tight bind for money, he asks Boris,
to let me share his two francs (38). However, because Boris has no money, they both decide to pawn
their overcoats. They work out plans together and help each other figure out the best way to make
money. Orwell and Boris feel comfortable asking each other for support and are able

Sword, armor, banner now the Maid was ready for her first military move (Yeatts, 29). Joan of Arc,
also known as the Maid of Orléans, led an army at the age of eighteen and successfully changed the
tide of the 100 Years War with her cleverness and bravery. Cunning and kind at the same time, Joan of
Arc used her belief in herself and in God to make everyone around her more hopeful for a better
outcome to the war. Born January 6, 1412 in Domrémy France, Joan of Arc began to hear voices at the
age of thirteen. Claiming to be guided by the Archangel Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret, the
Maid set out to Vaucouleurs to at age sixteen to say that she was destined to save France and to
request an escort to go see the heir, or dauphin, Charles VII. Although turned down twice before
Robert de Beaudricourt, the commander of a fortress near Vaucouleurs, gave in to her appeals, Joan of
Arc was insistent. After two years of nonstop effort, she was finally granted permission to journey to
speak with the dauphin. Joan of Arc gave girls in the world today a reason to be proud.
The Maid of Orléans, or La Pucelle d Orléans in French, is a symbol of courage and perseverance; she
was strong, fierce, and beautiful in every way, the beacon of hope for the Armagnacs. She was always

LACCD Metaphors
Introduction
The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is one of the largest community college
districts in the nation. The District is composed of nine colleges spread throughout approximately 900
square feet of distance. The purpose of this report is to analyze the LACCD using metaphors described
in Gareth Morgan s Images of Organization. In addition, I plan to reveal how the LACCD benefits
from maintaining a bureaucracy, the challenges the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD)
had while integrating new forms of technology into its organization, the obstacles with accreditation,
the number of crimes that have taken place at the LACCD, and the cost of providing security. After

According to Morgan, bureaucracies may achieve efficiency by dividing tasks and developing detailed
rules and regulations (Morgan, 17) for all employees. The procurement process begins with the desire
to purchase a good or service for example, a pencil. In order to purchase this supply at the LACCD
one employee must create a purchase order (PO) in SAP by logging into their account that is linked to
a budget. The PO must have the vendors contact information, details about the product including
price, quantity, model number, and taxes. It must also be approved from the department chair or dean,
the departments Vice President, and college s Vice President of Administrative Services. If the
purchase price of the good is over $5,000 the college performs an additional step and gets the approval
of the board of

An imperative aspect of art is that it is open to interpretation and analysis. If the piece of art is
significant, it will be thought or emotion provoking and uncensored. It is not the role of art take
cautious steps in an attempt to leave its audience unoffended, but rather to embrace diversity of
thought and creativity to portray untainted ideas. Filmmaking being a form of art follows the same
guidelines and thus shapes society through its objectionable and often jarring subject matter. The

Without the brutal violence in American History X we would not be able to take an emotional journey
of discovering a lost man as he regains his purpose after killing two people under the influence of a
neo Nazi gang. The hatred towards everyone as experienced in Taxi Driver is essential to
understanding the raging emotions flowing through Travis s mind as he goes on a killing spree. On the
opposite end of the spectrum, without the provocative homosexual romance in Brokeback Mountain,
the passionate strain of keeping a forbidden love covert would not be felt. Since homosexuality had
not been greatly explored in film this way before, Brokeback Mountain generated a confusion of
empathy for a love that society would not allow, as well as for those that were betrayed by it. The
audience is at war for and against both sides (the lovers and those that do not want the lovers together)
in some aspect throughout the movie and the controversy carried into real life. According to the Los
Angeles Times, people that identified with the cowboy role portrayed by the two main characters were
deeply offended by the homosexual association, which they believed tarnished their cowboy image.
The article also says the film s amorous relationship angered homophobic people across the nation,
but it also, contrarily, made others more empathetic towards members of the gay community s feelings

aerodynamic and HP loss have high rate because in lines/straight are taller engines as the engine block
needs to be fitted under the hood. This type of arrangement needs a large nose due to longer engine
and this could cause issue in bumper to bumper traffic. This type of arrangements has cooling issues.
This type of arrangements have high center of gravity as compared to layout. Horizontal opposed:
This is also known as a flat engine. Firstly this concept was given by Germen engineer Karl Benz in

communally used but according to engineering point of view it is a logical choice for a race engine.
This is also known as Boxer because the motion of piston is similar to the movement of boxer fists in
the horizontal plane unlike the boxer s fists that both move in the same direction, half of the Boxer
engine s pistons move in the opposite

Ab Isotype Switching Case Study
Before encountering an antigen, a naïve B cell expresses both IgM and IgD on its surface. A single
transcript of VDJ CμCδ is alternatively spliced to yield either the μ or the δ heavy chains.
There is no DNA switch region before the Cδ gene. Switch regions are found in DNA upstream of
each constant region gene (except in the δ chain). Ab isotype switching occurs by recombination
between switch regions (S), with deletion of the intervening DNA, and must occur before functional
transcripts of these genes are made. Isotype switching requires the enzyme AID, which is expressed in
B lymphocytes in response to signals from T cells

After completing the course it was pretty much true, the class discussed many inventions and how
they have effected society throughout the years, even how society has effected technology. One of the
main topics that was covered in the class was how many different definitions there was of what was
considered technology. The biggest lesson that was taught was how technology and society have been

Everyone has seen that kid with music blasting out of his headphones, or the girl rapidly texting on her
phone. The youth of today are constantly drawn in technological advancements that promote nonstop
communication and instant satisfaction, whether through cell phones, video games, laptops, or
iPod/MP3 players. Before the invention of these devices, family members would sit together around
the table and play games together. However, since the invention of video games, those kinds of
entertainment have changed to games played individually, and the impact of such games on family
relations is apparent. Nowadays instead of watching TV together or eating a family meal, everyone in
the family is in a separate room, either playing video games, watching football, on their computers or
on their phones. Though, in some cases, technology helps parents to communicate with their children
and know their location, it is not always enough for children s safety just to stay connected with the
family. People are so fascinated by their smart phones or laptops that they are blind to others around
them. Consequently, spending less time with family and more time with different gadgets can cause
the loss of tight contacts with close relations.
But are these technological advancements a good thing? I believe that the growth of technology has
negatively influenced the social interactions of today s youth because it isolates people from reality,

Native American Culture Research Paper
Native American culture has impacted America in many ways. Just some of these ways include
agriculture, language, and governmental ideas.
About four hundred years ago, when the pilgrims came to America, they met Squanto. After it became
obvious that they were going to struggle to farm, Squanto, a native American who spoke English,
taught them all about how to successfully farm in their homeland (Amenlnckx). Without Squanto and
his tribe, the Pilgrims would have likely starved that winter. Native American culture is probably best
known for its agricultural ideas. The indigenous people of North America have a deep respect and
knowledge for the land. They care for every living thing, and believe that everything has a purpose.

Each Native American tribe, also known as a band or a nation, is practically independent (Gibson).
They have their own laws, government, security, and services. This government was strictly
democratic, and all of their meetings were open to everyone (Bjornland 50). Many Native American
tribal systems were, or are, based on written law. This amazing culture is the earliest surviving
governmental tradition in the world that is based on peace (Bjornland 50). Decisions are made by
consensus, or a general agreement, and punishments could be death, depending on the seriousness of
the conflicts (Bjornland 50). The confederation, a group of magic Americans that worked together for
the greater good, was formed due to the fact that the Native Americans were tired of tribal welfare
(Bjornland 50). The League of Nations (also known as the confederation) consisted of each nation
running its own affairs and acting as a whole when dealing with outsiders. These ideas for a successful
government have certainly rubbed off on America. Many people would agree that the United States
government is also based on peace. When faced with the choice of war or trying to negotiate peace,
America will (most) always choose peace. Without this firm belief in trying to keep the peace, and
government, America would be a war country, and could be in

Social Networking Site
sCHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1 Introduction Social Networking Sites
Few years back, usage of social networking sites became popular around the world. Social networking
sites are also known as social networking website. Social networking sites (SNSs) are increasingly
attracting the attention of academic and industry researchers fascinated by their affordances and reach.
Social networking sites are web base service that building an online community of people that share
same interest, or activities and explore others people interest. Social network sites (SNSs) such as
FACEBOOK, TWITTER, MYSPACE, CYWORLD, and BEBO have attracted millions of users,
many of whom have integrated these sites into their practices.

Now, seems like all the population moved to FACEBOOK and MySpace now became less and less
visitors.
3) TWITTER
Twitter should be probably being at number two on this list. They average 628,759,806 inbound links
and weigh in with 23,000,000 monthly visitors, but their social impact is bigger than their numbers.
With fewer monthly visitors that MySpace, they re relegated to third. Twitter is the it boy in social
networking now, with some people leaving Facebook (way too gauche) for the more refined twitter.
The cool part about twitter is the ease with which you can find your favorite celebs and sports figures
to follow. Unlike Facebook (just trying friend with one of your favorite musicians in Facebook) you
can easily read stars and smart people s updates. Twitter could easily take over the number one spot on
this list as more and more people join.
Rounding out the list are LINKEDIN, CLASSMATES.COM, NING, BEBO, HI5.COM, TAGGED
and MY YEARBOOK.
1.2 Social Networking Sites in Malaysia In Malaysia, there is no doubt that more and more working
peoples are spending more and more of their time socializing and networking online. This due to
availability of mobile devices, services at an affordable price and also the availability of online
facilities. Technology has played an integral part of our daily lives. The fact that technology is
becoming more readily available at a lower cost has given more options and alternatives for us to

Animal Persuasive Speech
Hiding behind a big boulder in the hot and sunny Africa is a man holding a shotgun, he spots the large
male lion that he has been tracking for two whole weeks, he aims and you hear the gun sounding and
the male lion falls to the ground. All the man wanted was to say that that was the was the lion he
killed. As of being a kid, I have more of an imagination which makes me think more and want to come
up with ways to help solve problems and figure out how they affect us. As well, I like animals a lot, so
if the animals that are endangered are or have been being killed I am or would like to have a say or
help stop it. When I was researching my topic, I had been finding the perfect articles and videos to get
important and correct information. How many animals die each year. Do they have any laws or
anyone to stop the animal poaching? This was my driving question: How can I convince people to
help stop others from killing the animals for no reason? Once I finished my research, I understood that
in some way it is possible to help stop animal poaching. One of the biggest problems going on right
now is that illegal hunters are killing endangered animals just because of their skin or just as a trophy
hunt. It may not seem like it more and more animals are becoming close to being endangered to
almost extinct. This is happening all because of one thing that makes a chain of events, that is just
killing the animals. The problems that it causes is lack of food, extinction, and lack in reproducing.
The reasons that those are problems is because the lack of food means that the animals in the food
chain that die that are supposed to be food for other animals are dying and can t feed the other
animals, and they die from starvation and it will eventually destroy the whole food chain. With the
food part being said the animals have less and less reproduced because males are dying and it is not
possible, with this cause is less and fewer offsprings each year. As well, both these problems lead to
one exact thing, extinction. I think that the world should try and help stop this because it is a serious
problem and it is illegal. As well, with no animals, the world is not complete and all the things that the
animals do

The Prohibition Of The 18th Amendment
With the 18th amendment passed came about a new era, an era where the government was unable to
enforce the laws. The 18th amendment had banned alcohol creation and consumption. The reason the
amendment was passes was because workers became addicted to liquor ultimately becoming
ineffective workers. The 18th amendment gave young desperate men the chance to make big money
selling liquor. Eventually selling liquor will become the gateway for these men to becoming gangsters.
Through the years of the Prohibition three men would lead the gangster into a new style of organized
crime unseen ever before. Al Capone, Dutch Schultz and Charles Lucky Luciano became the big three
gangsters that led the era into a new direction of organized crime.
Although many gangsters came from an impecunious and or illiterate families, Al Capone s family
was an educated family. His father, Gabriele, was educated and from Naples, where he had earned a
living as a barber. Al Capone had lived in an area where crime did not influenced him but when he
moved he had met John Torrio. John Torrio was a big time gangster at the time and it was Torrio that
would teach Capone how to run a criminal organization. Torrio had represented a new era of criminal
empire, which he would be passing down to Capone.
Torrio had his boss assassinated giving him full power, which he passed down to Capone when he
retired. Capone became crime czar of Chicago, Capone s new position symbolized a new criminal

have the free people of color. They ranged in the number of 30,000. Half of which were mulattoes,
children of the slave owners and slave women. The other half were black slaves who were 500,000
strong, who had purchased their own freedom or was given freedom by their masters. The free blacks
were wealthy and that really didn t sit well with the petit blancs. Lastly, the maroons. They were a

Comparing Spongebob, Patrick, And Squidward
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Do you recognize that intro to one of the most influential TV
shows of all time? Or should I say what used to be one of the most influential shows of all time. Over
the years, the main characters such as Spongebob, Patrick, and Squidward have been downgraded
from their original characteristics. Now the show is just a mockery of the original Spongebob and
needs to just end. Spongebob started off his series as an intelligent, yet misguided figure. He was not a
character that was consistently making stupid mistakes. He knew what he was doing most of the time,
but did make a couple mistakes every once and awhile like every character does. Then after the
Spongebob Movie in 2004 he has become a floundering imbecile who is basically too stupid to live.
The Spongebob Movie is said to mark the end of the Golden Age of Spongebob. Now he is basically a
character that never makes any good decisions, but his mistakes somehow work out for a happy
ending. Spongebob used to make witty jokes that would make children laugh and parents laugh since
they constantly snuck in jokes that went over kids heads. Now all he does is make jokes that not even
kids laugh at, and all it does is annoy them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Motorcycle Helmet Debate
Over the years a debate has arisen about the necessity to wear motorcycle helmets. One side of the
debate is adamant that wearing helmets should be a free choice, while the other is certain it should be
a mandatory precaution. Helmets provide multiple layers of protection for the control center of our
body, the brain. Riders who refuse to wear a helmet are 40% more likely to suffer a deadly infirmity
form a motorcycle accident. Therefore, in order to prevent fatal injuries, I believe motorcyclists should
be required by law to wear helmets. There are four basic components that contributes protection to a
motor cycle helmet: the outer shell, impact absorbing layer, comfort padding, and retention system.
The outer shell compresses whenever a rider collides with a hard ... Show more content on

Analysis linked to CODES showed that in just three states if helmet laws were to be removed, the
extra inpatient charges would nearly double from $2,325,000 to $4,095,000. Another codes study
showed that patients with brain injuries pay 2.25 times the bill of a patient without a brain injury.
Furthermore, in 2002 alone, NHTSA estimated that motorcycle helmet use saved $19.5 billion and
during the same time period another $14.8 billion could ve been conserved if all motorcyclists would
have worn a helmet. This is no measly amount of money to be wasted because of an extremely poor
choice. The other side of the arguement is convinced that it is the right of the driver to decide whether
or not to wear a helmet. They believe the government should not be allowed to infronge on this right.
However, it is the responsibility of the government to protect its people s lives. Those who believe this
also argue that helmets don t prevent accidents from happening. However, they seem to overlook the
fact that helmets are the most effective way to prevent fatal injuries from motorcycle

The adolescent period of a human is the developmental phase of child to adult. During this time in a

can alter the development of the body, especially the development of the brain. When data from the
World Health Organization s Global Burden of Disease study were used to calculate cause specific

After reviewing the Kudler Fine Food network, a major network overhaul will need to bring the
network up to par with the latest technology. If Kudler Fine Foods is not able to upgrade their systems
then they will fall behind the technological curve and will not be able to compete with other
companies. Kudler needs to do the upgrade not only to keep up with the advances with network
systems but needs to install the proper systems to increase profits. If Kudler does not do constant
upgrades then they will be forced to pay a larger amount for the larger upgrades in the future. It is vital
to install the proper systems that will have the longevity and the capability for future network
expansion without having to spend money on unnecessary upgrades. Currently all the sites are still
running 56K modems, this technology is outdated. This is technology is hindering the communication
speed between each site. Having a high speed connection is crucial to provide real time updates. These
updates provide the profits made each day and the inventory sold so that those items can be restocked
in real time. These modems will be used as redundant system and a new Wide Area Network (WAN)
will be created, each site will be setup with a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The WAN will
connect all the WLANs together. This will boost the network speed of the WAN and improve the way
employees communicate. The network will be able to support a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)

The Events Of The Holocaust
Perhaps one of the greatest tragedies of morality in the modern world were those acts committed by
Hitler s regime in WWII. Wherein, several million people lost their lives, homes, careers, and rights.
The largest of these people were the Jewish, but also people that Hitler deemed as subversives
homosexuals, disabled, etc. In the holocaust these people were systematically oppressed through a
degradation of rights; murdered in gruesome methods; and enslaved for the duration of the war. It is of
the utmost importance that we do not forget about this great tragedy. It is my hope that we can all
remember those lost and learn the lessons of morality the holocaust taught us. Perhaps one of the most
important aspects of the Holocaust was the leading events to the final imprisonment and
extermination. These events allowed the German people to dehumanize Jews and subversives too such
a point that they thought of them as nothing more than animals. This was a complete degradation of
rights and respect. It is not easy to sum these events up as it follows a long timeline, however, there
are a few critical events I will mention. At the end of WWI Germany was fully blamed and owed a lot
of money in reparation. This eventually bankrupted Germany and caused a great amount of anger and
hate to build. On Jan 30th, 1933 Hitler is appointed as chancellor of Germany and all hell begins to
break loose ( Holocaust Timeline ). The Jewish people have many rights stripped away such as land

HR Management By definition, HR administration is a formal framework for the administration of

(HR) is an a great deal more unpredictable and vital part of a business. Actually, it is one of the most
imperative and key parts of an association. As more administrators are getting to be mindful of the
significance of their representatives aptitudes, information, and capacities, HR administration is
turning into one of the most grounded divisions in an organization. It is turning out to be clear that
human capital and representatives are the absolute most significant assets that an organization can
have (Bateman Snell, 2011, pp. 340 341). For an association to completely exploit their human capital,
their HR division must have a vital arrangement set up, be morally stable in their procedures, keep
laws and the legitimate consequences of their choices at the top of the priority list, and must be
mindful of their budgetary circumstance. A effective HR office experiences a three stage procedure:
arranging, programming, and assessing: To start with, HR administrators need to know the association

According to some reports, nearly 11% of women and 5% of men in the United States are currently
taking one or more anti depressant medications. These medications can truly be life savers, helping
people get through some of the most difficult times in their lives, and there is certainly no shame in
seeking a little help to get through a challenging period. However, most people are uncomfortable
with the idea of taking a mood altering, prescription medication for their entire lives. Some people are
concerned about the potentially unknown, long term side effects of anti depressants. Others just want
to experience life naturally, without any drugs. There are several factors you need to consider before
you make the decision to discontinue anti depressant therapy. First off, ask yourself if your depression
really has gotten better. How has your mood been, generally speaking? Has your appetite returned to
normal, or are you eating considerably more or less than you normally would? Are you sleeping
better? How is your social life? Make sure that your depression really has lifted and that you haven t
just learned to live with the symptoms of depression. If you ve been stable for at least six months, are
feeling confident, have a good support system in place, and have the desire to stop treatment, it may
be time to ask your doctor about stopping your anti depressant therapy. It is very important that you do
not just stop taking your medicine. Your body has gotten used to your medication and abruptly
stopping it could cause serious withdrawal symptoms, including dizziness, nausea, fainting, and even
a return of your depression. Your doctor will likely wean you off of your medicine by gradually
lowering your dose over a period of time, usually a few weeks to a few months. This can be frustrating
for some people who see depression as a chapter in their life that they are eager to close. However, by
following your dose

An Emotional Connection Made with Audi Commercial Essay
Audi, the maker of elite model cars, designed an advertising campaign for the 2013 Super Bowl that
claimed driving an Audi would allow the owner to feel more daring. The advertisement opens up with
a high school senior boy wearing a tux, with his mother pinning his boutonniere to his jacket. The boy
clearly looks unenthused about going to prom because he does not have a date to the prom, which his
mother attempts to sooth him by saying that there are many people who go to the prom without dates.
His younger sister antagonizes her older brother about not having a date. As the boy is departing his
house, his father throws his son the keys to his Audi S6. The son s face brightens and he quickly

With this advertisement, the Audi S6 is that object that provides the young man the courage to kiss the
prom queen and park in the principal s parking spot. The car provided the young man the sense of
security to tackle his inner demons and carry out his desires with no regrets. The Audi instills this
sense of sophistication and authority within the young boy and that because he drove an Audi, the
opportunity to be brave clearly outweighed the consequences of his defiance, as demonstrated at the
end of the commercial as he was driving with a black eye after being beaten up for kissing the prom
queen. The Prom commercial has a logical appeal. By creating the relatable story of an awkward and
dateless young man on his prom night, Audi was able to make an emotional connection with its
audience. Their slogan, Bravery. It s what defines us. , permits a logical appeal that if an Audi can
allow that young boy to be brave, than an Audi can evoke that sense of bravery within them as well. If
bravery defines a person, and an Audi defines bravery, than the car a person drives defines who that
person is. Therefore, the logical claim that Audi is making is that the car a person drives defines them,
and by driving an Audi, a person can be seen as classy, brave and sophisticated. In conclusion, Audi is
trying to make the argument that owning an Audi is more than owning a car, owning an Audi is an
experience that will instill a sense of class, pride and bravery. This

Homo Sapien Human Evolution
Charles Darwin stated that the evolution of man would take not thousands of years but millions of
years. In the case of the human species (Homo sapien) evolutionary theory posits that this has been the
case. Human evolution begins with the primate lineage which also includes new and old world
monkeys, and apes (Phelan, 2015). It is important to note that researchers have determined that the
chimpanzee is the humans closest living relative. While, humans and chimpanzees have similar
genetic and anatomical structure which signifies a close evolution relationship, it is also important to
note the anatomical differences that distinguish Homo sapiens. Unlike chimpanzees, humans evolved
toward bipedalism, grew larger brains and eventually became bigger in size (Phelan, 2015). As
Darwin suggested human evolution has branched down for millions of years and thus has many
significant events that result in the human beings that we are today. ... Show more content on

Marketing Theories Applied, And Calculations Essay
Marketing Theories Applied, and Calculations Return on Investment with Social Media Marketing
While these mobile opportunities were enticing, Ms. Bornstein still had to make a business case to
Suliteanu. It would be necessary to define key metrics to measure the success of social media, video,
and mobile for 2011 and beyond, as part of her long term strategy for Sephora s online media
spending. To measure its return on investment, Ms. Bornstein reviewed a Third Party Social Media
Evaluation Framework (Ofek Wagonfield, 2012, Exhibit 14). Using this framework, Ms. Bornstein
could measure the current investments Sephora was making in its social media and make three key
arguments in her proposal. First, Sephora successfully generated a wide range of interactions with its
social media (See Appendix, Exhibit 1). According to the third party, consumers could be sorted into
three categories based on their levels of engagement: Advocates, Followers, and Searchers. Using a
conversion rate, Sephora can see clearly that its social media participants turned into buyers. Ms.
Bornstein must direct her attention to these metrics as they provide the most straight forward return on
investment numbers for Sephora s social media outlet. Second, Ms. Bornstein already knows the value
of its Facebook followers. Sephora entered the Facebook scene in 2008 by creating a Facebook Fan

captures simple realities like walking around one s house, cutting bread, etc, and turning that narrative
into a warped and surrealistic reality that is eerie and chilling, but ultimately there is still familiarity in

there is also the inherent phallicism and violence that is attached to it s image as well. Through this

The Importance Of Play On Child Development
Introduction to the Issues and Literature Review Play is an important part of children s development,
as it helps us to understand their emotional, social, and physical/motor development. Interaction
during play, or lack their of, can help to explain a child s temperance, their comprehension of social
rules, and their understanding of others (Allen, 2008; Franklin, 2000; Rothbart and Jones, 1998).
Physical and motor movements in play can depict a child s sensory tolerance and preferences
(Williamson and Anazalone, 2008). Most notable, all of these systems work together in play to
understand the rates at which a child is developing and in which areas more support may be needed.
As Rothbart and Jones discuss in their piece Temperament, self regulation and education, children that
have a stronger Behavioral Inhibition System (fear or anxiety reactions) may be more likely to display
introverted or inhibited behavior (1998). These children may be more susceptible to becoming
discouraged and may require more positive feedback from their peers or adults. To further explain,
they might fear punishment for their actions and need positive reinforcement that their behavior is
socially acceptable or they may doubt their own abilities to perform in certain situations. A child s
estimation of their abilities and likelihood of their success in a given situation also may be affected if
he or she tends to be more fearful. They may avoid situations where they feel inadequate and avoid

sent a series of tweets saying that, The mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few
days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump. Such poor leadership
ability by the mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to
help. They want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort. 10,000 Federal
workers now on Island doing a fantastic job. Mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulin Cruz, said later
Saturday morning in an interview with MSNBC that, I was asking for help. I wasn t saying anything
nasty about the President. The situation quickly spread across Twitter where creator of the Broadway
musical Hamilton , Lin Manuel Miranda, tweeted: She has been working 24/7. You have been

The article attacked Trump accusing him for rebutting Cruz s comments when he was golfing for the
weekend in New Jersey, but after some extensive research I have found that President Trump has done
more to help Puerto Rico than Mayor Cruz has. Angel Otero Perez has said that Yulin Cruz s story
about how Trump is abandoning Puerto Rico doesn t match with what he has seen out of recovery
efforts. However, even if Yulin Cruz is fabricating a story to get people onto her side, I do not agree
with Trump s handling of the situation. Instead of posting tweets about how she wants all of the work
done for her, he should have waited until Tuesday where he was scheduled to fly to Puerto Rico and
meet with the general in charge of recovery efforts and spoke face to face with her

Schumpeter believe that management theory it Is becoming a collection of dead ideas. In other words,
he believe that most of what we learn today about management is outdated and do not accurately
describe how businesses operating in today s society. He opens his article by comparing management
theory to the reformation. At first the comparison seem unrelated but as I read along I realized that his
analogy was not so far fetched. The gist is that management theory is like the Catholic church because
in the 16th century the Catholic Church way of doing had numerous theological errors. So Martin
Luther, a Monk, came up with 95 these to fix the problem; his thesis gave birth to the modern world.
Schumpeter believe that Like the Catholic church, management theory needs to be reform. ... Show

The first theory is the idea that businesses are more competitive than ever. He states that popular
management theory books emphasize that we live in a world where businesses are always competing
with other businesses and that even a large corporation are constantly being disrupted. He argues that
what we are seeing in today s economy is consolidation. He states that since 2008 more than 30,000
deals a year worth 3% of the GDP is a result of consolidation. Schumpeter believe that the reason why
consolidation is so popular is because companies are enjoying record profits. I do agree with
Schumpeter that more company consolidating instead of competing. I constantly hear of large
companies taking over other companies. For example, Atena, one of America s largest insurance
company as partnered up with CVS

Erik Homburger Erikson s Life
Erik Homburger Erikson was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on June 15, 1902. Erik s parents
were both Danish. Erik s father abandoned his mother, Karla Abrahamsen before Erikson was born.
Karla raised Erikson alone for the first three years of his life in Frankfurt until she remarried Erikson s
pediatrician, Dr. Theodore Homburger. Karla and Theodore moved to Karlsruhe in southern Germany
and raised Erikson. Erikson went by Erik Homburger as a child and young adult until he eventually

Erikson is most famous for his expansion and refinement of Freud s theories of personality
development. Erikson argued that development functions by the epigenetic principle, which says that
we develop through a predetermined unfolding of our personalities in eight stages throughout our
lifespan. As we progress through each stage our success, or lack of success, in each stage is partially
determined by our achievements in the previous stage. Erikson believed that each person has a unique
personality, which gradually reveals itself through eight stages, and if we interfere with the progress of
our personality development (try to speed things up) we may ruin the development of that individual s
personality. Each stage involves certain developmental tasks that are psychosocial in nature. Erikson
coined the term identity crisis, a personal psychosocial conflict that shaped a distinct aspect of
personality ( Erikson, Britannica). The various tasks are referred to by two terms, the first is what the
individual is striving to achieve and the second is what the individual is at risk of developing if he or
she does not successfully achieve the first term. Each stage has an optimal time to be achieved as well.
Each individual has his or her own pace to go through life; therefore, the optimal time to achieve a
stage in is more of a general guideline. If a stage is managed well, we carry

The Ethics Of The Arco Avon
ABSTRACT On August 18, 2015, a fire broke out in the engine room of the dredger Arco Avon. This
vessel was in the process of loading sand roughly 12 miles off Great Yarmouth, UK when a fire broke
out in the engine room. The fire was started when the third engineer attempted to repair a failed fuel
pipe that was under pressure. This high pressure fuel in the pipe ignited and broke out into the rest of
the engine room and was then suppressed by the fixed CO2 system. The fire aboard the Arco Avon
resulted in one death, Anthony Jones, the third engineer. Throughout the investigation, it was
determined that there were many shortcomings within the engineering department including, lack of
communication, poor risk assessment, and lack of work permits. INTRODUCTION The Arco Avon is
a suction dredger flagged in the United Kingdom that is owned and operated by Hanson Aggregates
Marine Limited. It was built in 1986 with a steel hull, an overall length of 98.6m, and gross tonnage of
3,474. The vessel has a minimum safe manning of 8 persons issued by the Bureau Veritas, the
classification society for the Arco Avon. The propulsion for the Arco Avon is made up of a Mirrlees
Blackstone KMR6 Mk3, 4 stroke, single acting, 6 cylinder in line diesel engine that is coupled to a
controllable pitch propeller through a reduction gear. The main engine also has a shaft generator
attached to the free end that is called No. 1 generator (DG 1). In addition to the shaft generator the
ship also has an

The Army consisted of a 100,000 strong active force who trained different divisions to perform certain tactics during wartime. Similar to modern day warfare, some of the personnel wore armor, some were trained for the cavalry, some were foot soldiers, while others were trained to construct equipment used to siege city walls (WeaponsandWarfare.) With each civilization that the Assyrians conquered, they learned and developed new techniques. The Sorrow Of Soreness Summary In her article, The Sorrow of Soreness: Infirmity and Suicide in Medieval England , Rebecca McNamara sets out to examine the interpretations of what it meant to commit suicide in the context of the middle ages. Using bureaucratic records, McNamara analyzes how infirmity was used to frame suicide and examines how it was an emotionally meaningful way of explaining it in its aftermath. McNamara demonstrates how infirmity played an important role in the history of emotions as they related to suicide in the Middle Ages. McNamara begins her article by describing how the emotional history of suicide has largely been ignored by historians. The textual records that exist that mention suicide are the ones in turn that offer the fewest details in terms of emotions, that of legal records. These legal records provide the best source for information on medieval suicides, and McNamara s use of them helps strengthen her article. These sources available to her providing an intriguing connection between the daily lives and deaths of people in these times, and their connection to the law, and how the latter can speak volumes as source material. While certain emotions were marked as being inappropriate for description within the purview of legal documents, infirmity, in contrast, was deemed to be appropriate for this type of text, and could be used to explain the impulse to self killing and to frame responses to such an event. McNamara s central concern is in examining how infirmity was the primary legal context existing that was used to frame suicide. McNamara spends a considerable amount of her article depicting suicide as they were described in the legal records of the age, particularly through an examination of the records that survive from the reign of Edward I. Here, she uses several cases in which infirmity is mentioned to make her point. McNamara notes that more records related to suicide survive rom this reign than any other in a 150 year period. In her analysis, McNamara benefits from the writs that survive because they help to provide validity for the conclusions she draws and support her argument. These medieval english court rolls and crown writs demonstrate how infirmity was an emotionally meaningful way of explaining and responding to suicide. McNamara demonstrates how there were consequences to suicide and repercussions for one s property and goods. Under English law, suicide was regarded as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

O Connor s upbringing stemmed from southern roots with a strong religious foundation from which she seems to center her short stories. Although she is a master at integrating different themes throughout her stories, her dark comedic style of writing allows her to question one s ability to live a good, proper Christian life, without inducing hatred or bigotry. Joan of Arc, also known as the Maid of Orléans, led an army at the age of eighteen and successfully changed the tide of the 100 Years War with her cleverness and bravery. Cunning and kind at the same time, Joan of Arc used her belief in herself and in God to make everyone around her more hopeful for a better outcome to the war. Claiming to be guided by the Archangel Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret, the Maid set out to Vaucouleurs to at age sixteen to say that she was destined to save France and to request an escort to go see the heir, or dauphin, Charles VII. A single transcript of VDJ CμCδ is alternatively spliced to yield either the μ or the δ heavy chains. There is no DNA switch region before the Cδ gene. Switch regions are found in DNA upstream of each constant region gene (except in the δ chain). Ab isotype switching occurs by recombination between switch regions (S), with deletion of the intervening DNA, and must occur before functional transcripts of these genes are made. People are so fascinated by their smart phones or laptops that they are blind to others around them. About four hundred years ago, when the pilgrims came to America, they met Squanto. After it became obvious that they were going to struggle to farm, Squanto, a native American who spoke English, taught them all about how to successfully farm in their homeland (Amenlnckx). Without Squanto and his tribe, the Pilgrims would have likely starved that winter. Native American culture is probably best known for its agricultural ideas. When I was researching my topic, I had been finding the perfect articles and videos to get important and correct information. How many animals die each year. Do they have any laws or anyone to stop the animal poaching? This was my driving question: How can I convince people to help stop others from killing the animals for no reason? Once I finished my research, I understood that in some way it is possible to help stop animal poaching. One of the biggest problems going on right now is that illegal hunters are killing endangered animals just because of their skin or just as a trophy hunt. It may not seem like it more and more animals are becoming close to being endangered to almost extinct. This is happening all because of one thing that makes a chain of events, that is just killing the animals. The problems that it causes is lack of food, extinction, and lack in reproducing. The reasons that those are problems is because the lack of food means that the animals in the food chain that die that are supposed to be food for other animals are dying and can t feed the other animals, and they die from starvation and it will eventually destroy the whole food chain. With the food part being said the animals have less and less reproduced because males are dying and it is not possible, with this cause is less and fewer offsprings each year. As well, both these problems lead to one exact thing, extinction. I think that the world should try and help stop this because it is a serious problem and it is illegal. • 28. An Emotional Connection Made with Audi Commercial Essay Audi, the maker of elite model cars, designed an advertising campaign for the 2013 Super Bowl that claimed driving an Audi would allow the owner to feel more daring. The advertisement opens up with a high school senior boy wearing a tux, with his mother pinning his boutonniere to his jacket. The boy clearly looks unenthused about going to prom because he does not have a date to the prom, which his mother attempts to sooth him by saying that there are many people who go to the prom without dates. His younger sister antagonizes her older brother about not having a date. As the boy is departing his house, his father throws his son the keys to his Audi S6. With this advertisement, the Audi S6 is that object that provides the young man the courage to kiss the prom queen and park in the principal s parking spot. The car provided the young man the sense of security to tackle his inner demons and carry out his desires with no regrets. The Audi instills this sense of sophistication and authority within the young boy and that because he drove an Audi, the opportunity to be brave clearly outweighed the consequences of his defiance, as demonstrated at the end of the commercial as he was driving with a black eye after being beaten up for kissing the prom queen. The Prom commercial has a logical appeal. By creating the relatable story of an awkward and dateless young man on his prom night, Audi was able to make an emotional connection with its audience. Their slogan, Bravery. It s what defines us. , permits a logical appeal that if an Audi can allow that young boy to be brave, than an Audi can evoke that sense of bravery within them as well. If bravery defines a person, and an Audi defines bravery, than the car a person drives defines who that person is. Therefore, the logical claim that Audi is making is that the car a person drives defines them, and by driving an Audi, a person can be seen as classy, brave and sophisticated. In conclusion, Audi is trying to make the argument that owning an Audi is more than owning a car, owning an Audi is an experience that will instill a sense of class, pride and bravery. This ... In the case of the human species (Homo sapien) evolutionary theory posits that this has been the case. Human evolution begins with the primate lineage which also includes new and old world monkeys, and apes (Phelan, 2015). It is important to note that researchers have determined that the chimpanzee is the humans closest living relative. While, humans and chimpanzees have similar genetic and anatomical structure which signifies a close evolution relationship, it is also important to note the anatomical differences that distinguish Homo sapiens. Unlike chimpanzees, humans evolved toward bipedalism, grew larger brains and eventually became bigger in size (Phelan, 2015). As Darwin suggested human evolution has branched down for millions of years and thus has many significant events that result in the human beings that we are today. ... In 1896, French scientist Henri Becquerel discovered natural radioactivity. Many scientists of the period were working with cathode rays, and other scientists were gathering evidence on the theory that the atom could be subdivided. Some of the new research showed that certain types of atoms break by themselves. It was Henri Becquerel who discovered this experience while investigating the properties of fluorescent minerals. Marketing Theories Applied, And Calculations Essay Marketing Theories Applied, and Calculations Return on Investment with Social Media Marketing While these mobile opportunities were enticing, Ms. Bornstein still had to make a business case to Suliteanu. It would be necessary to define key metrics to measure the success of social media, video, and mobile for 2011 and beyond, as part of her long term strategy for Sephora s online media spending. To measure its return on investment, Ms. Bornstein reviewed a Third Party Social Media Evaluation Framework (Ofek Wagonfield, 2012, Exhibit 14). Using this framework, Ms. Bornstein could measure the current investments Sephora was making in its social media and make three key arguments in her proposal. First, Sephora successfully generated a wide range of interactions with its social media (See Appendix, Exhibit 1). According to the third party, consumers could be sorted into three categories based on their levels of engagement: Advocates, Followers, and Searchers. Using a conversion rate, Sephora can see clearly that its social media participants turned into buyers. Ms. Bornstein must direct her attention to these metrics as they provide the most straight forward return on investment numbers for Sephora s social media outlet. • 36. The Importance Of Play On Child Development Introduction to the Issues and Literature Review Play is an important part of children s development, as it helps us to understand their emotional, social, and physical/motor development. Interaction during play, or lack their of, can help to explain a child s temperance, their comprehension of social rules, and their understanding of others (Allen, 2008; Franklin, 2000; Rothbart and Jones, 1998). Physical and motor movements in play can depict a child s sensory tolerance and preferences (Williamson and Anazalone, 2008). Most notable, all of these systems work together in play to understand the rates at which a child is developing and in which areas more support may be needed. As Rothbart and Jones discuss in their piece Temperament, self regulation and education, children that have a stronger Behavioral Inhibition System (fear or anxiety reactions) may be more likely to display introverted or inhibited behavior (1998). These children may be more susceptible to becoming discouraged and may require more positive feedback from their peers or adults. To further explain, they might fear punishment for their actions and need positive reinforcement that their behavior is socially acceptable or they may doubt their own abilities to perform in certain situations. Erikson believed that each person has a unique personality, which gradually reveals itself through eight stages, and if we interfere with the progress of our personality development (try to speed things up) we may ruin the development of that individual s personality. Each stage involves certain developmental tasks that are psychosocial in nature. Erikson coined the term identity crisis, a personal psychosocial conflict that shaped a distinct aspect of personality ( Erikson, Britannica). This vessel was in the process of loading sand roughly 12 miles off Great Yarmouth, UK when a fire broke out in the engine room. The fire was started when the third engineer attempted to repair a failed fuel pipe that was under pressure. This high pressure fuel in the pipe ignited and broke out into the rest of the engine room and was then suppressed by the fixed CO2 system. The fire aboard the Arco Avon resulted in one death, Anthony Jones, the third engineer. Throughout the investigation, it was determined that there were many shortcomings within the engineering department including, lack of communication, poor risk assessment, and lack of work permits.
