Hurricane Devastation Of Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina Scandal
Without doubt, Hurricane Katrina has been the major catastrophe of the century suffered in the United
States. The category 5 hurricane which at first was on course to hit Florida drifted into the Gulf of
Mexico taking a direct route to New Orleans. On his way, the hurricane left hundreds of dead, affected
hundreds of thousands and left billions of dollars in damage. The largest number of deaths occurred in
New Orleans where the hurricane hit the hardest and which was flooded because its levee system
failed, collapsing many of them several hours after the hurricane had continued inland. Environmental
damage and serious threats to public health were among the other results of Hurricane Katrina. Given
the magnitude ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The environmental, social and economic chaos opened the way to abnormal conditions in the deviance
of the funds. In these cases there are always people who want to take advantage of the situation, part
of society responded generously while others reacted with greedy. The problem of the missing funds
was a crime because it violated not only the state but also federal laws regarding the use of false
documentation to receive funds. Hurricane Katrina caused the activity of the opportunists. As is
common, disasters bring out the worst and the best of any individual in our society.
As a result of fraud and as a result of the investigations many people ended up arrested. These people
were charged for breaking the law by taking funds illicitly from the Red Cross which were destined to
victims of Hurricane Katrina. In a way the punishment was appropriate, but at the same time, the
squandered money that these people never made it to the hands of the people who really needed it.
The ideal would have been to have these individuals give back what was given to them through a good
will deed and then serve a sentence for the bad action.
It is irritable to learn that there are always people who take advantage of very difficult situations, in
this case from the hurricane disaster in New Orleans. Society often is affected by many negative
decisions human beings make. Logically, a disaster

A Famine Primary Source Of The Irish Potato Famine
A Spud Famine Primary Source
More than a million Irish people died during the Irish Potato famine that hit Ireland between 1845 to
1849 (Pollard, pg. 551). Potatoes were the primary diet of the Irish, especially the Irish Lump potato.
When the fungal disease hit, known as potato blight, the Irish potato crops were lost. After reading
primary sources regarding the Irish Potato Famine, the reader can visualize the horrors that the Irish
people endured during the Irish Potatoes Famine including starvation, the physical and the mental
effects that go along with it, the loss of family members, and especially witnessing their children
starve and die. Both Trench and Bennet had the purpose and intent of recording conditions exactly as

Trench s excerpt focused on the housing and the sad, upsetting state of the children to appeal to the
reader. He depicted the inequality between rich and poor illustrated by coffins are only used for the
wealthier. The majority were taken to the grave without any coffin, and buried in their rags: in some
instances, even the rags are taken from the corpse to cover some still living body. Trench describes
seeing children in the home near death and several other children that had died. He describes the
peasant s condition, being pale physical beings. The mother and two children that were still alive had
only one dish of barley for the last four days. Even though his descriptions of what he witnessed may
have been the truth and he was relaying this to the reader, he was known as a ruthless land agent who
broke leases, leveled people s homes and banished the poor. Trench looked upon such schemes as a
cheap and efficient way to improve the estate.... the population decreased by 40.3% during the Trench
years, suggesting that in an attempt to clear the estate to make way for improvements, many people
were forced to leave, receiving little or no money from him (Offalyhistoryarchives.com). Critics said
of Trench, Even at his worst he gave his tenants the care that a good stock breeder gives to his stock

They Say I Say Is All About Figurative Language Quote
The Art of Quoting
Chapter 3 in They Say/ I Say is all about quoting. Graff and Birkenstein, not only explain to readers
the correct and incorrect way to quote a text, but also why it s important to use quotes the right way.
The authors insist that, in order to successfully compose an effective argument, the writer needs to
incorporate what others have previously said into their own text. By doing so, it enhances your
creditability, while at the same time makes sure your writing remains fair and accurate.
According to Graff and Birkenstein, some of the most common mistakes made when quoting an
another author include not quote enough or at all, over quoting, and lastly thinking that there is no
need to explain the meaning of chosen quote. They

My Reality Check Essay
My Reality Check
Two things didn t mix well in my life. One was being a full time student and the other an athlete.
It was great not having parents around telling you to do your homework or to go to class, of which I
never did. I had a choice, which was more important, playing lacrosse or studying. Like any first year
college student I picked lacrosse. At that point I didn t realize what I was getting myself into. Who at
that age would know either?
My worst nightmare came true in the summer of 1989. I was academically dismissed from the
university. I thought to myself no way, this could never happen to me, I played lacrosse, had a
girlfriend, and I was popular, how could this have happened . The worst part of the whole ... Show

This proved to be beneficial, for I received a 3.67 grade point average for that semester. That spring
was just as good, that year my grade point average was a 3.46. I was happy, and so were my parents. I
proceeded to reapply back to my former university and was accepted. I gradated with over a 3.0 in my
major and was offered a job in Washington D.C.
Being dismissed from college was one experience that I have never regretted and never will. I can see
why this happened; I was a student athlete, which doesn t mix. Being an athlete in college I had to
practice Monday through Saturday, I was always tired, too tired to study and go to class. I did learn a
couple things though, sportsmanship, self discipline, teamwork, cooperation, and concentration. Too
bad none of these attributes rubbed off on my schooling. The university said that they would help me
out with my schoolwork but that was just a lie, one in which they still use today. The school put me
into these easy classes which didn t teach me anything except how to fall asleep in class. The
university was only worried about winning games and being nationally recognized. They didn t help
me when I was doing poorly and even after I was dismissed.
After being dismissed I realized a few things, one that the university only cared about my money,
another was that everything I did I did for someone else, and that I was accomplishing

`` Afraid Of Heights ``
Everyone gets one chance at death, and honestly? I had always imagined that mine would count for a
little more. I never asked for much, just maybe dying a hero or a revolutionary or something like that?
Even just a graduate? I would have been happy with that, well, happy with anything really. But
honestly my death was, if anything, anticlimactic. It began, as you might say, by complete coincidence
on a commercial flight to Amsterdam. Me and my fear of heights, choose the aisle seat while a pale
looking businessman sat next to the window playing Candy Crush on his iPhone. I had to confess; he
was making me feel a tad edgy, constantly looking at his old antique silver watch and checking out the
window. We re taking off, he murmured, as he switched his phone into flight mode and slipped it into
his briefcase. I just smiled and turned away from the window, trying to avoid thinking about the
increasing space separating me from safety. Afraid of heights? he questioned inquisitively, before
giving a small smile You probably would have preferred the 4.50 flight to Dubai. I was meant to be on
that cursed plane you know. He gave a dramatic sigh and rolled his eyes. Got on the wrong one. What
do you mean I would have preferred the other flight? I asked. Trying to avoid looking at the fluffy
white clouds drifting past the window, like deceiving little safety nets. I mean literally cursed. He
turned and smiled There was a terrorist on board . He pulled open the in flight

Negotiation Essay
Negotiation
Point
quot;Effective negotiation is not about conflict. It is not about deviance or dishonesty. It is not about
posturing, or bullying, or threatening. Effective negotiation is about exhaustive preparation, utter
clarity, heartfelt communication, and a sincere, demonstrated desire to fully understand not just your
own needs, but the needs of the other party. quot; Leigh Stienberg: Winning with Integrity.
Reason
Does every thing in life revolve around negotiating? Your relationship with family, friends, significant
other, school, church, work, does every thing have to be a negotiated? I feel the answer is of course
quot;Yes. quot; I want to feel I get value for what I m spending, whether it is time, talent or money. As

The Second is setting your goals and limits. Set limits before you negotiate. Knowing what your limits
are will allow you to make more rapid decisions during the course of negotiations. BATNA?
quot;Your BATNA is your Best Alternative To a Negotiated Agreement quot; I first read this term in
Entrepreneurial Edge Magazine then I did some research and found it s source given to two different
parties one being The Harvard Negotiating Institute and the other being. William Ury and Roger
Fisher. Getting to Yes I believe the credit goes to both because Ury and Fisher were part of the
Harvard Negotiating Project. Anyway what does BATNA really mean; it is the best way to fulfill your
needs and interests without the other s agreement.
Knowing your limits gives you the strength and confidence to walk away when needed. Try and not
back yourself into a corner with no way out. Leave an alternative when ever possible. Having set
limits are good but don t make the bottom line so inflexible that you can t reexamine someone s offer
in a different light. Knowing when no deal is the best thing for you can be a hard decision at times.
What will happen if I can t reach an agreement? Letting go of the pressure for a deal may lead to
another deal down the road. Knowing when to fish or cut bait is important. quot; There s always
another Deal around the corner. quot;

Myers-Briggs Test
Learning how to socialize in big groups and thinking before acting can take you further in life rather
than the other way around. The purpose of the Myers Briggs test is to indicate your personality type by
using four scales. The four scales are 1. extroversion/introversion 2.sensate/intuitive, 3.
thinking/feeling 4. judging/ perceiving. According to the test, I scored higher of extroversion like than
introversion. I also I scored higher in thinking rather than feeling. In other words, using my head other

Running against me for the same position in office was a girl by the name of Rachel Monroe. She had
more experience than me because she has been in ASB all four years and won each position she ran
for and she was the vice president the previous year. She was tough competition but I knew if I stayed
focus and stuck to what I originally had planned I would be fine. Rachel went first, she had a great
plan of what she wanted to do for the upcoming school year but the only thing about her speech is that
it was dry, as in it felt like she talked forever, even though each speech had a time limit of five to
seven minutes. It was my turn, I told myself to Stay focused Kishawn and I will receive the position
that I desired. That is exactly what I did presenting my speech with putting my personality all
throughout the speech because I know how to use my personality and comedy I had the audience
laughing with tasteful jokes that I had in my speech but making sure my plans for upcoming school
year was believable and clear. I felt that I got a positive reaction from the one s who were deciding
who would get the position. At the end of the week, there was an ASB meeting announcing the
winning candidates. I was nervous but I knew I did my best. The meeting started at three o clock, not a
minute early nor a minute late. You can see nervous faces all around the room. I made casual

The intellectual centre of Islam is Al Azhar in Cairo. The ideas and attitudes taught here are spread
throughout the ummah, particularly through the population centers of Islam: Indonesia, Pakistan,
Bangladesh, India and Malaysia. The relative power of the different centers is shifting. Over time the
claims on and against the heartland from and by the peripheral Muslim communities will exacerbate
the tensions already present. The conservative centre will be under greater pressure from the more
vigorous, prolific and liberal Muslim societies on the periphery. Despite the increased prominence of
Islam, its history remains obscured by the focus on its role in current events. Through the actions of its
radical elements, many Muslims feel the tenants of the faith have been distorted (Aslan, 2005, p. 1).
Trying to live successfully in the modern world, being independent and according to Islamic
principles, Muslim countries have been talking about a great deal the significance of the role of
education and the importance of mastering Western science and Technology. Already in the 19th

Tourism In Azerbaijan Essay
Abstract Today, the Republic of Azerbaijan occupies a critical juncture between central Asia, Europe,
and the Middle East. Despite some significant challenges, Azerbaijan currently enjoys a healthy
petroleum based economy that is being increasingly diversified by the public and private sectors to
promote travel and tourism in this ancient land that enjoys a modern infrastructure and a wide range of
cultural heritage tourism destinations. Although many of the country s most widely acclaimed
destinations for international visitors are located in its capital, Baku, there are numerous archeological
and historical sites located in neighboring towns and regions as well that can form the basis of a
comprehensive cultural heritage tourism operation, providing certain factors are taken into account in
formulating the destination offerings. The Azerbaijan tourism industry has failed to provide positive
returns on its investment because the income that has been generated by tourism industry has grown at
a slow pace and gross domestic product attributable to the tourism industry has actually fallen in
recent years. Consequently studies such as this can help identify best practices to speed industry
growth and improve the return on the investment of scarce resources in the Azerbaijani tourism
industry. Acknowledgments [insert] Table of Contents Page Abstract

Overfishing In South Africa
Overfishing has become a devastating reality and priority concern to our Oceans in South Africa, as
well on a global scale. The interest of overfishing, is to eradicate hunger issues in developing
countries all over the world, as well as to create a vast improvement of job opportunities, however due
to our unsustainable fishing practices, it is just a matter of time before our oceans are completely
depleted of marine species, and the destruction of the aquatic ecosystem. This issue will resort to
irreparable socio economic and environmental circumstances that will be of severe consequence if we
do not alter our local and international commercial fishing operations. Due to overfishing throughout
the continents, South African waters has become a viable target for international role players to
maintain the demand of fishing operations and fish stocks that is required for global markets. Due to
inadequately monitored fishing operations, overfishing has left South Africa with a significant
shortage of food resources for the poor, who depend on fish as their staple diet. According to the
World Wildlife Fund, Seafood is the largest traded food commodity in the world. Approximately three
billion people worldwide rely on seafood as their primary source of protein. As the world tries to meet
that demand, 55 percent of the world s fisheries are fished to their maximum sustainable yield, while
30 percent have been pushed beyond their biological limits. Preserving healthy fish

prove her right. In one of the examples, an unknown car was following her on her way home, and
made her stop by flashing a blinding spotlight in her face. Another example depicts a man who was

own a gun. She provided an example of her and her friend being harassed and scared by men while
camping in the West. Moreover, looking for some help from the local rangers, she had to face with
their carelessness and unwillingness to protect and help. In addition to Hasselstrom s desire of
protection and safety, there is a desire of peace she was looking for which justified her to possess a

The start of the immigration movement erupted during the 1820 s 1860 s pre civil war, this is where

Ally, Jack, and Bree. Some secondary characters where Kenny, Melanie, Mr.Silver, Ally s mom and

You should have at least 3 5 events that were significant to the story. These should be exciting parts
before the climax of the story. Some events in the story that I thought was rising action were when
they all got together to make the solar eclipse perfect, when they all had to camp out together because
of the storm, and when they all worked together to find a signal for the planet that they found.
Climax
What is the turning point of the story? It s typically the most exciting part you read. The turning point
of Every Soul a Star is when everyone finally comes together to finally watch the solar eclipse after
lots of hard work.
Falling Action
What loose ends are wrapped up? Some events help lead the protagonist to a resolution for their
internal or external conflict. Some of the falling action may seem like rising action. The falling action
of the story was when they found out that they found a planet, and when they had to say goodbye to
each other.
Resolution
What did your character learn? In the story Every Soul a Star, the characters learned that even when
they think that a situation is going to be awful, amazing things can come out of it.
Task 2: Provide a summary of what happened distinct from personal opinions or judgments.

Leadership Is A Personality Change
Leader is somebody who inspires, can make positive change in somebody s, life or situation directly
or indirectly whether it is a big or a small change (Dudley, D., 2010). Leadership is a personality
change that develops over time with efforts and experience. When I think from Dudley s perspective, I
had been a leader always I guess, but when we talk about realizing it and consciously working to
improve your skills that started after I started working. My desire to learn and excel always pushed me
to learn new skills and improve myself. I believe this desire and effort from my end was recognized

Accountability comes when you realize you are responsible for something or someone, that can
impact somebody life or goals negatively or positively. Bolman, L. G. Deal, T. E. (2013), mentioned
that group accountability is important for organizations success. I learned accountability from the
attachment I developed with people who I work with and from my managers. My manager holds me
accountable for my responsibilities and contribution towards organization goals by clearly explaining
what is expected out of me and my team, my job responsibilities, my contribution, how it contributes
to organization success and Why my role is important? I replicate the same and hold myself and my
team accountable for high level of performance needed, for any misses, or for any tough decisions
needed for the benefit of the organization. When you realize that you made a decision that backfired,
you easily can blame it on somebody else but then how will that impact others, what will be your
credibility? Such things made me more positive towards taking responsibility of action and that had a
very positive impact on me and my team. My team when saw me doing this, was willing to take
accountability for their actions and responsibilities rather than shrugging it on each other. That really
helped in forming a strong team that is firmly bonded by trust. The components of a successful
evidence based leadership are aligning goals and behaviours and ensuring accountability (Studer,

Land Diving
A Rite of Passage is a ceremony that will change someone from one point in their life to another. The
people from the Southern part of Pentecost Island have their own Rite of Passage. Its called land

Causes And Consequences Of An Abusive Relationship
One in three women, and one in seven men, will become victims of severe violence by and intimate
partner in their lifetime (Vagianos2014). Chances are you know someone who is being abused but you
aren t aware of it. The commonly posed question is what would cause someone to stay in an abusive
relationship. There are many reasons for not leaving, but the most common reason is fear. For many
victims it seems financially impossible, or they still hold out hope that their partner will change.
Almost all of the victims have been told that if they leave there will be worse repercussions for them
and any children involved. The primary causes for staying in an abusive relationship are fear of
leaving because of finances, and fear that they will be found after they escape and guilt. In addition
children who witness domestic violence are more likely to mimic the behavior witnessed as adults.
It is common for abusers to keep their victims financially dependent. These victims are kept on an
allowance or have to ask for money. It is also very common in these cases for the abusive partner to
ruin the victim s credit by creating debt in their name and not paying for it. Without adequate credit it
is impossible to get an apartment, even if you have a job with decent pay. Account numbers,
passwords, credit cards are all kept hidden from these victims (Salamon, 2014). Even if they get the

Examples Of Monologue Of Lady Macbeth
Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow / creeps in this petty pace from day to day. These are words I
reflect upon during this terrible time of anguish and grief. We gather here in sombre circumstances;
the loss of an honourable wife, queen and woman that has added another casualty in nature s bloody

whose conscious ran deep, deeper than many here would have truly suspected.
Lady Macbeth, an intelligent woman, years before her time was the epitome of grace and elegance.
Even with all of Lady Macbeth s beauty and grace she was as strong as Birnam Oak. Without Chuck

a papal audience, passed admission tests to the Accademia Filarmonica, and performed many concerts.
Mozart then returned to Salzburg, but traveled to Italy for two shorter journeys in October 1771 and

Ode on Melancholy commentary
AP Literature 19 August 2013 Ode on Melancholy John Keats s poem, Ode on Melancholy , serves as
an instructional manual on how to cope with sadness and the feeling of melancholy. Through his vivid
use of lyrical language and allusions, Keats s is able to depict vivid images that haunt the soul and is
able to convey his message that the only way to deal with a sense of melancholy is to accept it. Keats
believes that once one can accept sadness and make it a part of his identity, then he can overcome the
overwhelming feelings of depression and find true happiness in life. The author also implies that
happiness must be earned; to find happiness, one must endure the travesties and turmoil to reach it.

In this statement, Keats is stating that should sadness appear, one should embrace the sadness and take
it in rather than to push it away. By absorbing the sadness and drowning it out with thoughts of
happiness, such as gazing upon her peerless eyes , one can find happiness once again. The third stanza
begins with Keats addressing the mistress as she Dwells with beauty beauty that must die . Continuing
with the metaphor of the mistress and the feeling of sadness, Keats says that beauty must die. By
saying that the mistress is beautiful, Keats is implying that sadness and happiness are linked. The
happiness, which is the beauty of the mistress, in life is evanescent and continuously leaving. This
comparison of happiness and sadness and the beauty of the woman reinforces the idea that happiness
isn t permanent. It is short lived and comes with its repercussions. Through his poem, Ode on
Melancholy , Keats tries to find the balance between happiness and show his readers how to achieve
it. He tells the readers that by accepting the sadness, one can find happiness, even if it is only
temporary. Through his allusions and lyrical language, Keats is able to paint the image of happiness
and sadness through comparisons to poisonous drugs and beautiful sceneries as well as convey his

and what mess it is creating? Basically, a trade agreement between the USA, Mexico and Canada
formed by Bill Clinton, and it has let many Americans without jobs because most of them have gone
to Mexico. That is the main reason Donald J. Trump hates this agreement and how it has destroyed the
United States economy to bits and pieces. Additionally, what makes Trump fierce is that China has
been stealing American trade secrets for many years. He clearly stated, If China does not stop its
illegal activities, including its theft of American trade secrets, I will use every lawful presidential
power to remedy trade disputes, including the application of tariffs consistent with Section 201 and

Analysis Of The Book Harriet Jacobs
Harriet Jacobs, or Linda Brent in the book, was born in 1813 near Edenton, North Carolina as a slave.
She was blessed with, in her words, unusually fortunate circumstances(Jacobs, Pg.3) until age six
when her mother died. She stayed with her mistress, Margaret Horniblow, until she was twelve years
old where on her mistress s death she was willed to her mistress s niece and as a result her new
mistress s father, Dr. Flint. Unlike with her previous mistress, her life with the Flints was harsh and
demanding. She eventually escaped from her life with the Flint s and hid herself away. She was free
for a time but she was eventually bought once again, though with a kinder owner who allowed her to
write her book while working for her. Jacob s father was an extremely talented carpenter whose skills
allowed him many privileges similar to those of a white man. He was allowed to work at his own trade
as well as manage his own affairs with the condition that he pay two hundred dollars a year to his
mistress and supporting himself. He wished to pay for his children with his earnings and tried many
times, however, he was never successful. She also had a brother that was two years younger than her
that she adored. While she loved both her father and younger brother, she had a special bond with her
mother and maternal grandmother. She had a loving, nurturing, and supportive relationship with the
both of them. While she knew she was a slave, she was shielded from the reality that she and

Why I Was The Only Person Who Was Ready
My thirteen year old mind could not handle waiting idly in an uncomfortable, wooden chair. By that
time, my powdered makeup had turned into beads of liquid. Can we please leave, I yelled we re going
to be late! In response to no response, I stood up from my chair and marched into my cousin s room. I
was startled as I walked in on one of the most frantic scenes I had ever witnessed. There were clothes
sprawled on the floor, makeup powder on the dresser and jewelry on the bed. My cousins and aunts
were running around the room; some were getting ready, some were arguing and some were talking on
the phone. The mixture of heat and expensive perfume was asphyxiating. We re going to miss the trip
tia ! I failed to understand why I was the only person who was ready. We had all been aware of our
reservations for the party boat in Old San Juan for almost a week.
We re almost ready Val, go start the car. Her response was almost humorous because I knew she was
nowhere near being ready. On her head, rested her shower cap and in the closet, hung her dress.
Respectfully, I continued to follow her orders and accept our inevitable lateness.

Is Facebook Making Us Lonely By Stephen Marche
In Stephen Marche s article, Is Facebook Making Us Lonely? he begins by stating the assumption that
there is research suggesting that we have not in any way been more detached from one another, or
lonelier, and the cause may be social media. Marche makes a point early on in the article that
Facebook is the forefront of most unexpectedly lonely interactivity. That during the crisis and intensity
of human loneliness, Facebook showed an attractiveness of promising greater connection. The author
then goes on to provide the reader s with statistics, but no sources cited, of how in the past 60 years

Instead it shows that we make decisions to isolate ourselves from others. The internet and machinery
makes it faster and more efficient. We have the preference of choosing which. We pick the smoothness
of the social machines, not the other way around. Throughout the whole article the author gives us the
sources and statistics, which make the report more credible, but majority of them reject his claim. An
Australian study showed that Facebook users had slightly lower levels of social loneliness , they felt
more bonded with friends and that Facebook encourages people to contact others outside of their
household. Moira Burke, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon, did a study of 1,200 Facebook users. Her
study showed that the more composed communication through Facebook, the less lonely the people
were, compared to people who only received one click communication had no change in loneliness.
This study shown by Burke completely challenges Marche s thesis for this article. Marche reiterates
by giving a counter argument to Burke s statement saying, that on Facebook, Everybody else looks
happy, with so many friends, that our own social networks feel emptier than ever in comparison.
Although Marche may have good statistics, they are only assumptions with no sources to back up his
claims, causing his thesis to be weak. Thus Marche having weak sources to back up his thesis makes
me infer that his thesis is inaccurate. A stronger, more precise thesis would be

The Pros And Cons Of The Overland Campaign
The Overland Campaign, which saw the bloodiest fighting in the continent of North American, was a
necessary evil to end the American Civil War. Starting on May 4th of 1864, the newly promoted
Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant committed to destroying Robert E. Lee and his Army of Northern

will examine previous major Northern victories and consider the differences between them and Grant

Nature Emerson Analysis
In Nature by Ralph Waldo Emerson, there are many ideas that Emerson explored during the passage.
One is the view we have on the stars. Emerson feels like we do not value the stars as we should. We
would view them in a whole new way if they were only present every a thousand years. We would
have a different opinion of them, and would watch out for them when we knew they would come out.
Another idea that Emerson focuses on in the excerpt is if an individual does have a bad attitude, they
look at nature in a bad way. If they have a good attitude, they look at it in a positive way. One other
idea that Emerson pursues is the idea of the transparent eyeball. We are following the over soul, we
are apart of the spirit. we can see everything, but not everything can see us. The last idea that I will
talk about is the view between adults and children. When children are young, they love to play
outside, be in the cool breeze, or play in the snow. Individuals as they grow to be adults they start to
lose that love. They lose the way nature is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this excerpt his ideas kind of grow to be the same thing. A idea that he talks a lot about in Self
Reliance is accepting yourself. A lot of people find flaws and mistakes in themselves. They get into a
slump, and try to form with society. Accept yourself for who you are, not for what others want you to
be. A second idea that Emerson talks about is finding happiness. He talks about when you put your
and soul into something, it will make you happy. When it turns out good, knowing you have done your
best, is an amazing time where you find happiness. Another idea that he talks about is not worrying
about being judged. Learn after you accept yourself, to not conform with society. Be an individual
who is not scared what others think. Do not let society hold you back from who you are. If you be who
you are individually, you will find life more

goes to get the bull, Mrs. Whipple is not worried about His safety but what the neighbors will think if

whether the neighbors were watching.

Strindberg permits mobility in personal development and reflects the complexity of the self. Through

brutal... one jealous... (Strindberg 59). Strindberg avoids the idiotically mathematical (Strindberg 57)
ideology where the big eat the small (Strindberg 57), instead employing a variety of characters and
plot, which mirror the irregularity of everyday life. Strindberg adds minute details to each character,
justifying his premise that [any] event in real life... springs generally from a whole series of motives

The Federalists
The ability to unify a nation in a liberal democracy and work towards obtaining a given objective is
incredibly difficult when everyone s opinion is supposed to be valued. However it s not just valuing
everyone s opinion that can cause concern, but the fact that people are allowed to act on their
opinions, no matter how radical or crazy they are to the majority of the population. This allows for
dissenting opinions against the general will to rise up and hold seats within the legislature; therefore,
legitimizing their claims by thrusting them into the public spotlight. This can be both good and bad
and it was explored in depth by James Madison in The Federalist Papers. In his work he states the
obvious concerns factions can have on a society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Madison s usage of the word most seems to the reader that he is assuming more than 50%, however,
those popular social movements consist of people of all economic standing on both sides. Therefore,
how can the unequal distribution of property be the cause of factions. Without factions (according to
Madison) society would have to be involved in a communist state to guarantee the equal distribution
of property so as not to cause factions to develop. However, society can t enter into a state of an
authoritarian regime because it needs to maintain liberty, a theme Madison believes is unreplaceable.
Instead of trying to remove factions by mandating a communist egalitarian world view (which some
people understand when they read Madison s work, not what Madison himself said), society should
embrace factions as an example of political and intellectual freedom working beautifully. It
demonstrates that dissenting views are able to properly lobby government officials, through either
being elected or organizing protests. There is validity to the claim that factions cause unnecessary
bureaucracy, however, the constitution of the United States formed a government that intentionally
worked this way, it was expected factions would rise up, that s why there is so many checks and
balances. The checks and balance system is the effective way of handling factions, not removing
liberty, and certainly not forming a communist egalitarian state. Factions are not only necessary to
maintaining a capitalist society, but they are also important in guaranteeing that dissenting views and
opinions are allowed to be heard. They serve a role and purpose in the echo

Q 1: In 1642 Berkeley was greeted with open arms by Virginia important planters who were alarmed
about the possibility of the Virginia Company coming back which in turn would threaten property
titles set after the company s end in 1624. Upon arrival Berkeley comforted the people that the
company would not come to be again which resulted in him gaining two houses and an orchard by a
grateful assembly. His reputation gained more height once he faced a threat on the colony from the
Powhatan Indians, who had delivered the lethal blow on the Virginia Company when they attacked the
colonists in 1622. Although after the second attack in 1644 Berkeley led a military force to squash the
Powatans resistance, and in turn made a treaty that ended the bad blood for a generation. Berkeley a

How Is Cleopatra Powerful
Cleopatra was born on 69 BC in Alexandria, Egypt. Cleopatra was the daughter of Ptolemy XII, also
known as Auletes, and Cleopatra V Tryphaena, who was believed to be her father s sister. She was
believed to have three sisters, two older and one younger, and two younger brothers. Many Romans
did not think Cleopatra could be a ruler. During that time, females weren t considered as powerful and
important as men. Throughout her life, Cleopatra was able to prove how powerful she was, and what
she was able to accomplish.
To begin with, Cleopatra s family ruled Egypt for about 100 years even before Cleopatra was born.
Cleopatra spoke six different languages including; Arabic, Egyptian, Ethiopic, Greek, Hebrew, and
Latin. Cleopatra s ability to speak several different languages was beneficial throughout her life;
helping her communicate with other people to get what she wants. For instance, Cleopatra could
communicate with Julius Caesar due to her knowledge of Greek. In 51 BC, when Cleopatra s father
died, the Egyptian throne was passed to Cleopatra and her brother. However, around 49 BC, Ptolemy s
advisers acted against Cleopatra forcing her to flee Egypt for Syria. Thus, a year passed and Cleopatra
returned to face her brother. Her main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On June 23, 47 BC, Cleopatra gave birth to Caesarion. When Cleopatra gained Caesar s trust she was
certain that Caesar would do anything in her favor; finally, she was able to get what she wanted and
that was the defeat of her brother, Ptolemy XIII. When Ptolemy died, Cleopatra was finally the only
ruler of Egypt. On March 15, 44 BC, Caesar was assassinated by the Ides causing Cleopatra to go
back to Alexandria. Upon her arrival, Egypt was suffering from famine and epidemics. This was her
chance to strengthen her position as the queen of Egypt and restore the glory of the Ptolemies who
were a powerful Hellenistic dynasty from 305 to 30

Benefits Of Avocado
2.2 Health and Medicinal Benefits of Avocado
Avocado has several medicinal and health benefits (Irvine, 1961 and Pamplona and Roger, 1998). The
skin of the avocado is used as an antibiotic, for ridding the intestinal tract of parasites, and as a remedy
for dysentery. The seeds are roasted and pulverized for the treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery. In the
powdered form, the seeds have been used as a dandruff treatment. Pieces of avocado seed are placed
in tooth cavities as a toothache palliative. It is recorded that Amazonian natives used avocado to treat
gout. When the pulp of the avocado fruit is added to the diet it helps to reduce cholesterol levels
(Pamplona and Roger, 1998).
Various studies have confirmed that apart from being a source ... Show more content on

However, because of the need to utilize surpluses and imperfect fruits, it has been of interest to
process the fruit for extended shelf life time and marketability. Unfortunately, avocado is very
sensitive to heating or freezing. The fruit develop off flavours (Bates, 1970) and discoloration (Golan
et al., 1977) even after the minimal thermal treatment needed to destroy spoilage microorganisms and
deactivate enzymes (Cruess et al., 1951; Brown, 1972; Gracia et al., 1976). Compounds involved in
off flavour and bitterness vary in polarity between neutral lipids to phospholipids (Bates, 1970) and
include 1 acetoxy 2, 4 dihydroxy n heptadeca 16 ene and 1, 2, 4 trihydroxy n heptadeca 16 ene (Ben
Et et al., 1973). Likewise freezing is detrimental to texture and flavor of whole avocado. Although
rapid freezing of avocado slices by liquid Freon (Smith and Winter,1970) or liquid nitrogen with
proper treatment with ascorbic and malic acids (Hanson, 1976) were claimed to produce an acceptable
product, these producers still wait for large scale implementation. In practice, since the available
mechanical equipment separates mashed pulp from the peel after manual removal of the seed, only
mashed avocado can serve as a raw material for processing. Indeed, a frozen puree known as
guacamole salad is the only avocado product of commercial relevance. This product can be stored for
weeks frozen at 18°c (Hester and Stephens, 1970; Salomon et

Taleah Keny On Oddness
Not everything is as it seems. But what if it is? I?ve always been the odd one out in vegas. I?m the
nerdy, annoying, brash white guy from north dakota who is out of his element there because of my
time here, and out of it here because I wasn?t born here. Don?t worry I plan to move back and claim
my birthright, getting a job and being a regular loser in a place with less people than here. Comment
by Taleah Kenney: This stands out as the thesis for your paper, but then gets no defense in your paper.
While I?m the odd one out, I?m the odd one out in 1.5 languages. I speak a little german and a big
english vocabulary. Those people take kindly to me using words bigger than my name,7 letters, will
often respond in spanish to punish me, only to confused as all hades when I yell at them in german. In
some ways it can be trouble. It can start arguments because others overthink everything I say, instead
of just trusting that I am not doing it because I think I?m better than anyone, but because I was

that already, I do it more obsessively. But I do not just demonstrate this in fidgeting, however, but also
in groups. I linger towards the back, keeping everyone close by. I can even irritate my friends by doing
it when I don?t even realize. Comment by Taleah Kenney: How does this paragraph tie into your

Relationship Between Abigail Williams And The Crucible
Everyone has things they want, but can t have, this leads to being selfish. Some people are able to get
over what they want, while others seem to think it s all they need. Everyone has this in common, for
many people its love. Love makes people do things they shouldn t do. The relationship between
Abigail Williams and John Proctor is completely inappropriate, which is why John ended it. Abigail
on the other hand still loves John. Through all her lies and awful intentions, Abigail Williams

The category 5 hurricane which at first was on course to hit Florida drifted into the Gulf of Mexico taking a direct route to New Orleans. On his way, the hurricane left hundreds of dead, affected hundreds of thousands and left billions of dollars in damage. The largest number of deaths occurred in New Orleans where the hurricane hit the hardest and which was flooded because its levee system failed, collapsing many of them several hours after the hurricane had continued inland. Hurricane Katrina caused the activity of the opportunists. As is common, disasters bring out the worst and the best of any individual in our society. As a result of fraud and as a result of the investigations many people ended up arrested. These people were charged for breaking the law by taking funds illicitly from the Red Cross which were destined to victims of Hurricane Katrina. In a way the punishment was appropriate, but at the same time, the squandered money that these people never made it to the hands of the people who really needed it. The ideal would have been to have these individuals give back what was given to them through a good will deed and then serve a sentence for the bad action. Chances are you know someone who is being abused but you aren t aware of it. The commonly posed question is what would cause someone to stay in an abusive relationship. There are many reasons for not leaving, but the most common reason is fear. For many victims it seems financially impossible, or they still hold out hope that their partner will change. Almost all of the victims have been told that if they leave there will be worse repercussions for them and any children involved. The primary causes for staying in an abusive relationship are fear of leaving because of finances, and fear that they will be found after they escape and guilt. In addition children who witness domestic violence are more likely to mimic the behavior witnessed as adults. It is common for abusers to keep their victims financially dependent. These victims are kept on an allowance or have to ask for money. It is also very common in these cases for the abusive partner to ruin the victim s credit by creating debt in their name and not paying for it. Without adequate credit it is impossible to get an apartment, even if you have a job with decent pay. Account numbers, passwords, credit cards are all kept hidden from these victims (Salamon, 2014). Tragically, over these past few months we have seen the deterioration of a great woman whose conscious ran deep, deeper than many here would have truly suspected. Ode on Melancholy commentary AP Literature 19 August 2013 Ode on Melancholy John Keats s poem, Ode on Melancholy , serves as an instructional manual on how to cope with sadness and the feeling of melancholy. Through his vivid use of lyrical language and allusions, Keats s is able to depict vivid images that haunt the soul and is able to convey his message that the only way to deal with a sense of melancholy is to accept it. Keats believes that once one can accept sadness and make it a part of his identity, then he can overcome the overwhelming feelings of depression and find true happiness in life. By absorbing the sadness and drowning it out with thoughts of happiness, such as gazing upon her peerless eyes , one can find happiness once again. The third stanza begins with Keats addressing the mistress as she Dwells with beauty beauty that must die . Continuing with the metaphor of the mistress and the feeling of sadness, Keats says that beauty must die. By saying that the mistress is beautiful, Keats is implying that sadness and happiness are linked. The happiness, which is the beauty of the mistress, in life is evanescent and continuously leaving. This comparison of happiness and sadness and the beauty of the woman reinforces the idea that happiness isn t permanent. It is short lived and comes with its repercussions. Through his poem, Ode on Melancholy , Keats tries to find the balance between happiness and show his readers how to achieve it. An Australian study showed that Facebook users had slightly lower levels of social loneliness , they felt more bonded with friends and that Facebook encourages people to contact others outside of their household. Moira Burke, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon, did a study of 1,200 Facebook users. We would have a different opinion of them, and would watch out for them when we knew they would come out. However, society can t enter into a state of an authoritarian regime because it needs to maintain liberty, a theme Madison believes is unreplaceable. • 42. Benefits Of Avocado 2.2 Health and Medicinal Benefits of Avocado Avocado has several medicinal and health benefits (Irvine, 1961 and Pamplona and Roger, 1998). The skin of the avocado is used as an antibiotic, for ridding the intestinal tract of parasites, and as a remedy for dysentery. The seeds are roasted and pulverized for the treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery. In the powdered form, the seeds have been used as a dandruff treatment. Pieces of avocado seed are placed in tooth cavities as a toothache palliative. It is recorded that Amazonian natives used avocado to treat gout. When the pulp of the avocado fruit is added to the diet it helps to reduce cholesterol levels (Pamplona and Roger, 1998). Various studies have confirmed that apart from being a source ... However, because of the need to utilize surpluses and imperfect fruits, it has been of interest to process the fruit for extended shelf life time and marketability. Unfortunately, avocado is very sensitive to heating or freezing. The fruit develop off flavours (Bates, 1970) and discoloration (Golan et al., 1977) even after the minimal thermal treatment needed to destroy spoilage microorganisms and deactivate enzymes (Cruess et al., 1951; Brown, 1972; Gracia et al., 1976). Compounds involved in off flavour and bitterness vary in polarity between neutral lipids to phospholipids (Bates, 1970) and include 1 acetoxy 2, 4 dihydroxy n heptadeca 16 ene and 1, 2, 4 trihydroxy n heptadeca 16 ene (Ben Et et al., 1973). Likewise freezing is detrimental to texture and flavor of whole avocado. Although rapid freezing of avocado slices by liquid Freon (Smith and Winter,1970) or liquid nitrogen with proper treatment with ascorbic and malic acids (Hanson, 1976) were claimed to produce an acceptable product, these producers still wait for large scale implementation. In practice, since the available mechanical equipment separates mashed pulp from the peel after manual removal of the seed, only mashed avocado can serve as a raw material for processing. Indeed, a frozen puree known as guacamole salad is the only avocado product of commercial relevance. This product can be stored for weeks frozen at 18°c (Hester and Stephens, 1970; Salomon et ... • 43. Taleah Keny On Oddness Not everything is as it seems. But what if it is? I?ve always been the odd one out in vegas. I?m the nerdy, annoying, brash white guy from north dakota who is out of his element there because of my time here, and out of it here because I wasn?t born here. Don?t worry I plan to move back and claim my birthright, getting a job and being a regular loser in a place with less people than here. Comment by Taleah Kenney: This stands out as the thesis for your paper, but then gets no defense in your paper. While I?m the odd one out, I?m the odd one out in 1.5 languages. I speak a little german and a big english vocabulary. Those people take kindly to me using words bigger than my name,7 letters, will often respond in spanish to punish me, only to confused as all hades when I yell at them in german. In some ways it can be trouble. It can start arguments because others overthink everything I say, instead of just trusting that I am not doing it because I think I?m better than anyone, but because I was encouraged to do so from a ... While I do that already, I do it more obsessively. But I do not just demonstrate this in fidgeting, however, but also in groups. I linger towards the back, keeping everyone close by. I can even irritate my friends by doing it when I don?t even realize. Comment by Taleah Kenney: How does this paragraph tie into your culture? You have to make the connection explicit for anyone who doesn t see/understand it. Comment by Tristen Jongeling Hamm: I said it made up a great part of who I am. Is there a way to communicate this more strongly? Comment by Taleah Kenney: Explain how, specifically, it effects who you are. Your actions, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
