Internal Analysis of the Disney Company
Internal Analysis
The financial ratio analysis of a company is a useful indicator to measure the success of a company.
By comparing financial ratios between companies in the same industry (competitors) it is a useful way
for investors and shareholders to determine the financial health and/or the sustainability of a company.
Disney s main competitors within the industry include Time Warner and 21st Century Fox. There are
five key areas of comparison that provide excellent financial analysis of a company. They are short
term solvency, long term solvency, asset management, profitability, and market value.
Liquidity Ratio
The short term solvency ratio is a measurement used to measure how well a company is able to meet
debt obligations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For 2013 Fox had the highest ROE, which was 35.05. However Disney has been consistent over the
past three years with a ROE around 14, whereas Fox s ROE is much more volatile (jumping up to
35.05 in 2013 from 4.34 in 2012). Disney s ROE is therefore the more reliable and better indicator of
the company s continued growth and profitability.
Market Value Ratio
Market value ratios are probably the most important ratios for any publicly traded company; it s an
indicator of how well the company is perceived as a whole. It reflexes how investors view the future
performance and risks of the company. One such market value ratio that is used commonly is the cash
flow per share ratio. This ratio is measured by taking the operating cash flow preferred dividends
divided by the common shares outstanding. This ratio is more reliable than the EPS or earnings per
share ratio because it is less likely to be manipulated. Because of this the cash flow per share ratio is
judged to be a better indicator of a company s strength and position within the market. For 2013
Disney had the highest cash flow per share ratio amongst its competitors which was valued at 5.29.
This was slightly better than Time Warner s which was 4.04 and was significantly better than Fox s
1.28.
Overall Disney is in a better financial position than its competitors Time Warner and Fox. Disney s
financial ratios have been rising at a pretty consistent rate which shows Disney s stability and

Foodborne Illnesses Of The United States
1. Introduction
Foodborne illnesses is an important problem in the United States, which cause a total of 19,056
infections, 4,200 hospitalizations, and 80 deaths were reported in 2013. Moreover, foodborne illnesses
cost the United States an estimated $152 billion per year in healthcare (Scharff, 2010; CDC, 2014). E.
coli O157 belonged Shiga toxin producing Escherichia coli (STEC), it was usually classified
pathotypically as enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) (Bryan et al., 2015). Between 2000 and
2010 have 5688 cases of O157 STEC infections were reported by FoodNet sentinel states, while the
rate of O157 STEC infection decreased from 2.17 to 0.95 per 100,000 (Gould et al., 2013). By the
way, Magwedere et al. (2013) also reported retail ground meat samples were purchased at grocery
stores, local farmers markets, and online vendors, out of 16 ground chicken samples, 7 samples tested
positive for O157 STEC. On the other hand, E. coli also causes diverse extraintestinal infections by
uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC), urinary tract infections (UTI) is a good example to illustrate. The
economic burden associated with urinary tract infections is estimated to be approximately 1.5 billion
in the United States annually. According to previous studies, the food animal and meat reservoir might
exist and isolate from retail chicken meat products for UPEC (Jakobsen et al., 2010; Shortlidge et al.,
2013; Natalie et al., 2015). In recent research suggested UPEC besides the ability to

Effective Communication Practices
Effective Communication Practices
Communication is defined as the transfer and understanding of meaning (Robbins Judge, 2013) and is
the foundation of every relationship. There are four main reasons for communication in business. They
are to control, motivation, emotional expression and information (Robbins Judge, 2013). Without
effective communication the sharing of ideas, information, feelings and questions cannot be
completed. There is a process to communication and when the process is broken communication is not
effective. In business it is a manager s responsibility to understand the process of communication, the
functions of the communications and to minimize any barriers to communication so that there is
effective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some managers or executives are simply poor listeners causing communication to constantly break
down. When a peer or someone at lower or higher level of the organization is speaking to them, they
may be daydreaming, showing lack of interest, reading, looking around, or listening to another
conversation. Because they are not concentrating on what is being said, they may misunderstand part
or the entire message. They may even believe that they are really paying full attention only to realize
later that they cannot remember parts of the conversation. Receivers may also bring certain
predispositions based on past experiences to the communication process. They may already have their
minds made up, firmly set in a certain way. For instance, a manager may have heard that his or her
new boss is unpleasant and hard to work with. When the new boss calls the manager for an
introductory meeting, the manager may go into that meeting predisposed to dislike the new boss and
pay little attention to what he or she has to say.
Ways to Improve Communication Effectiveness
Considering how many factors can create roadblocks to successful communication, it is fortunate that
we can resort to numerous techniques for improving communication effectiveness. The single most
important individual skill for improving communication effectiveness is being a good listener. Being a
good listener requires the individual be prepared to listen, keep interruptions to a minimum,
concentrate on both

Dallas Symphony Orchestra Analysis
I recently got to hear a few works at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. These compositions were
written by Richard Wagner, Igor Stravinsky, and Antonin Dvorak. I had a wonderful time and a great
experience. The pieces were played very well by the orchestra and Daniel Muller Schott. Also, the
conductor, Jun Markl, seemed very passionate and involved, and I liked the fact that he acknowledged
when one of the performers did a good job. The concert was well received by the audience as a whole
and myself, and put me in a very happy mood. The first work that was performed was Richard Wagner
s Overture from the Flying Dutchman. This work gave out a strong sense of nationalistic pride in my
opinion. The horns are very prominent in the piece and the strings ... Show more content on

The vast spectrum of emotion that must be conveyed by a single person must be a challenging feat.
You must be able to play fast and without break for long periods of time. I also believe that it would
be merely impossible to play this piece without strong emotion and passion from the cellist, as they
are the main focal point of the concert. The orchestra and the cello compliment each other seamlessly
and in a way the I have never heard before. It s a perfect match and the piece wouldn t be the same
without both of them in unmitigated harmony. For example, the cello may be playing softly and slow,
then out of nowhere, the orchestra surprises the audience with loud, but simple tones. I believe that
this is where the passion from the piece is divulged. The accompaniment is almost always grand and if
I may, reminds me very much of a Beethoven like sound. The Cello Concerto s arguably second
strongest theme is sadness. To me it s not a conventional sadness. It s not one of petty sorrow, but one
of great loss and remembrance. As if you are remembering special times with a loved one that you
dearly miss, where while you may be sad that they have past on, but you also remember the good
times you had, and how they used to always make you laugh. So maybe it invokes sadness, but not a
necessarily bad kind, it just has a mournful tone at

The Four Brothers Research Paper
On the eve of the Renaissance, there were four brothers of wealthy pedigree. Their sundry stories were
as tightly knit as a twilled textile, always aloof with vigor and fraternity, in the small Welsh hamlet of
Cartref. The eldest, named Robert, was the beneficiary of the family estate, a sprawling sheep farm.
He spent his days crutching and herding the livelihood of the brother s elderly parents. The Second
brother, named Frederick, apprenticed a blacksmith, and learned the craft of coercing iron and steel
into tools of production as well as destruction. And the youngest two brothers, William and Harrison,
earned a King s Shilling, bringing home honor, for King and for Country.
These four brothers toiled and worked for the good of the others, ... Show more content on

They sharpened their blades and prepared for an ambush, and when Frederick returned, they
slaughtered him without word. The blades he had forged found home in his torso. Neglecting remorse
and blinded by wealth, the last two brothers ate and drank six meals worth of food polluted by poison.
And failed to awake when the sun had returned. Frederick had taken their lives in inadvertent revenge.
And so they all lied there, as dead as dear Robert, their final wish granted. Thanks to the leper, they

Essay On Still Alice Howland
In Still Alice, a college professor Dr. Alice Howland is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer s. We
see Alice struggle with slowly losing her memories and not being able to work anymore, something
Alice feels that defines her identity. Alice continues to try and remain herself by setting reminders and
taking a daily quiz. However, her mental faculties continue to decline drastically and her family
begins to treat her as something less than a person, and instead is viewed as a kind of burden on her
husband and children. By the end of the movie Alice is no longer the same, and fails to kill herself as
the former Alice instructed during a video instructing Alice kill herself when she could no longer
answer a set of personal questions. The final scene concludes ... Show more content on

Thus with this bodily criterion there is no ethical dilemma of murder, since Alice never ceases to be
Alice. Thus, if taking this view to be valid then there is no ethical dilemma present with Alice
instructing herself to how to kill herself. I will now state my own thoughts on personal identity and
whether the psychological criterion with direct memory connection determines personal identity or the
bodily criterion. Then I will give reasons for the validity of my perspective, and how it is incorporated
with the films view. Although Still Alice supports the psychological criterion with direct memory
connection, this criterion does not actually determine personal identity. Instead, the bodily criterion
with normal cause of the brain is the factor of personal identity. This variation of the bodily criterion
includes the most important organ in the human body, the brain. The brain controls the entire body,
and how information is processed from stimuli in the environment. I also defend the idea that only
half the brain is needed for brain continuity and normal

Cost Of Art Education
Pablo Picasso once said Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows
up. Think about this, when a child is young they are given crayons and paper to occupy their time;
mothers sing to their babies or play them classical music. From a young age we are taught to create,
and we really are all artists. We create until creation is deemed nonessential, and the art projects we
work into our everyday routine are demoted to electives. Funds for Education have been cut in over
80% of U.S. schools in the last 10 years, and the first programs to leave are often art education.
Harvard President Drew Faust recently wrote. The same classes we as a nation are deeming

School System needs to stop defunding art programs because art is important in our history. Without
art, we would have less interpretation of our history. In any history class we study the artists of each
time period and how they interpreted their times. Most of what artists do is tell stories, they help us
make sense of the world. It can connect us to the past, present and the future. Throughout history our
greatest minds have often merged discovery and art, the geniuses we learn about in history aren t only
math matachins or scientists, but artists on top of that. Einstein stressed the importance of having a
creative mind, once saying I m enough of an artist to draw freely from my imagination, which I think
is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world. Without art
we would have a much more narrow view of our past, and future generations will have a narrow view
of our current events. Sure, you could say that we still have a history without art; but without photos,
paintings, and sculptures would we really fully grasp our past? By cutting our generation off from art
education we are cutting off future generations from learning too. Without artists to document our
history, our great grandchildren will be without that connection to what s going on today. While art
connects us to the past, and the world s history, it connects us to so much

Ordinary People Sparknotes
In the book Ordinary People by Judith Guest the person I relate with most is going to be Conrad
Jarrett. Conrad is the son of Calvin and Beth. In the story Conrad was in a boating accident with his
brother which caused his brother s death and Conrad blamed himself for his death. Then Conrad a year
later tried to commit suicide and it forced him to have to spend time in a hospital to get better. When
Conrad gets out he still feels little purpose in life and no motivation. He starts to see Dr. Berger to help
him recover from everything he has been through. My relation with his problems isn t exactly the
same but I can relate in a way. My stepdad had a car accident and the car accident caused his death.
Me and my family were devastated when we found out. It can really change a lot when a family
member dies.
In chapter 13 Conrad gets into an argument with his mother. Beth hears from Lazenby s mother that
Conrad quit the swim team. Beth is mad because he quit and didn t tell them about it. Conrad says that
he just spends his time at the library, Conrad is getting angry and says that he would have told them if
he thought they cared. Then Conrad ends up telling Beth to go to hell. I can relate to Conrad in this
chapter because of him getting in arguments with his parents because I seem to do it every now and
then. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

used to have a passion for basketball and I always wanted to be better but I didn t like the people I

Unnatural Events In Macbeth Essay
Macbeth, a once courageous warrior, consequently became a tyrant dictating over the people of
Scotland. His tragic flaw, ambition, forces him to become power hungry leading to his decision to
murder King Duncan. This sends the kingdom into an immediate spiral of unnatural events and
eventually leads to an upset of political and social discombobulation. The severed link between King
Duncan and God ultimately changes the kingdom of Scotland from a prosperous country into a
kingdom ruled by fear. Macbeth, a thrilling tragedy, is more than a tragic play, but rather a story of
ramifications caused by the severed link between God and King Duncan, which is shown through
unnatural events, social upset, and political reign. Directly after the ... Show more content on

This power, Macbeth gains leads to his intense paranoia, which eventually deteriorates his entire
persona. Macbeth begins to hire murders to kill anyone who questions him or is seen as a threat to the
king. This leads to many deaths such as Banquo, Macduff s family, and more. During the murder of
Banquo, his son Fleance escapes and the news that there s one down, [and] the son fled travels to
Macbeth making him even more paranoid (pg 97). Later he proceeds to hire another set of murders to
kill Macduff s entire family, in order to stop him from trying to overthrow him. Macbeth becomes
very violent and the entire kingdom of Scotland slips into uneasiness. The people of Scotland become
sacred and anxious that Scotland is not a safe country, negatively affecting the social aspect of the
kingdom. With everyone on the edge of the next turn of events, Macbeth s reign alters the community
s perspective of the Thane of Cawdor. With the entire country of Scotland submerged in fear, Macbeth
does a poor job of dealing with politics. Once he becomes the Thane of Cawdor he does not deal with
political issues in the correct manner. With his spontaneous actions he is quick to solve issues with
violence and murder rather than logical solutions. Macbeth s lack of political reign proves to be very
disheartening for Scotland. In one instance when Malcom and Macduff are talking about the hurt
Macbeth is causing Scotland, Malcom

I believe the Right Stuff is a mix of courage, perseverance, ingenuity, passion for what is being done,
and resilience. It takes courage to use ingenuity to go against the tide. It takes passion to use courage
to persevere and continue through the toughest of times. And it takes resilience to be able to take many
failures and persevere to eventually succeed. I believe that one of the people we should nominate for
having the Right Stuff is Samuel Pierpont Langley. He had a passion for flight ever he created the

It might have succeeded in achieving its goal, it still didn t have the right stuff . The prize we should
award is a medal with a bird on it. An essential thing for a plane to fly anywhere except windy places
is a system of flaps (or High Lift Devices). They are a simple version of thrust vectoring, which
basically is how gasses are moved in a certain direction to move something in a certain direction. As
flaps, they move air down and back, providing lift and a small amount of thrust. Another problem with
the Flyer is that only the wings are covered by fabric. The wooden posts on the outside succumb to
vortex shedding. That is when air hits any cylindrical object and forms vortexes of spinning air behind
it. That causes violent, uncontrollable swaying, which can cause a plane to spiral out of control and
become unable to be recovered. The final flaw was that it had a forward elevator. Had the elevator
been positioned at the back, it would be easier to control and would let the plane climb higher without
stalling. This would be of more use to the military, and might even have saved Selfridge, the highest
ranking official with such a great knowledge of aeronautics at the time, had it been added. That would
get them the contract, and all of their hard work would pay

Raymond with selfish like characteristics for using Meursault for his own benefit and not returning the

Camus employs a change in routine, Meursault having food with other people, which reveals the
unexpected cause for him becoming involved and encountering bad situations. Meursault mentions
that I ate at the restaurant, at Céleste s, as usual (Camus, 3), which displays his every day routine. The

The Holocaust And Internment Camps
The Holocaust was the genocide of millions of people leading up to and during World War II. Adolf
Hitler, leader of the Holocaust, saw Jews as a threat to the German race after the country s defeat in
1918 and therefore, saw it necessary to capture and exterminate all of those of the Jewish faith. In
these years of the Holocaust, up to six million Jews were killed. Many Jews were held captive in
internment camps for years being nearly starved and forced to work till they were no longer needed
and killed. In 1944, the Allies began to take over the German s camps. The Soviets began to liberate
the Jews who had managed to survive the crucial camps. At the beginning of World War II, the United
Kingdom began to import most of their foods annually that would last their population of 50 million
throughout the year. It was one of the principal strategies of the Germans in the Battle of the Atlantic
to attack shipping bound for Britain, restricting British industry and potentially starving the nation into
submission. Due to shortages, the civilians of the United Kingdom were forced to ration their food.
They were given a ration book with coupons and had to register at chosen shops in order to buy the
rationed food. This made providing three full meals a day for your family nearly impossible for the
British. The Dunkirk evacuation was the evacuation of Allied soldiers during World War II from the

A New Phenomenon And Donald Trump
The recent rise in awareness has brought the concept of income inequality to the forefront of
American s minds; however, this is certainly not a new phenomenon. The United States has struggled
with income inequality since its birth 241 years ago; the much bigger issue today stands within the
mentality of greed that has developed in recent time. While income inequality has existed since the
nation s birth, the looming threat to societies wellbeing is the emergence of a mentality of greed that
has grown unbridledly in recent decades. America s capitalist economic system has made the
institution of income inequality as American as baseball, cheeseburgers, and pick up trucks. Arguably

Jung
Biography
Carl Gustav Jung was born July 26, 1875, in the small Swiss village of Kessewil. His father was Paul
Jung, a country parson, and his mother was Emilie Preiswerk Jung. He was surrounded by a fairly
well educated extended family, including quite a few clergymen and some eccentrics as well. The
elder Jung started Carl on Latin when he was six years old, beginning a long interest in language and
literature especially ancient literature. Besides most modern western European languages, Jung could
read several ancient ones, including Sanskrit, the language of the original Hindu holy books. Carl was
a rather solitary adolescent, who didn t care much for school, and especially couldn t take competition.
He went to boarding school in Basel, Switzerland, where he found himself the object of a lot of
jealous harassment. He began to use sickness as an excuse, developing an embarrassing tendency to
faint under pressure. Although his first career choice was archeology, he went on to study medicine at
the University of Basel. While working under the famous neurologist Krafft Ebing, he settled on
psychiatry as his career. After graduating, he took a position at the Burghoeltzli Mental Hospital in
Zurich under Eugene Bleuler, an expert on (and the namer of) schizophrenia. In 1903, he married
Emma Rauschenbach.

Causes Of The Great Purge In Russia
The collectivization efforts of 1928 came to a head with the central government essentially forcing
peasants to collectivize and attacking the kulaks. Initial efforts backfired with many peasants choosing
to slaughter their animals rather than give them to the collective farm. As for the kulaks, some fled to
the cities to find work while others decided to try and fight back. In retaliation, the OGPU (secret
police) acted quickly and arrested the troublemakers. Massive numbers were deported across the
country and into the Urals, Siberia, or the North. The intense crackdown was eventually a success. By
1932, the per cent of collectivized peasant farms had reached 62% according to official Soviet figures
(Fitzpatrick, 138). The path to collectivized farming in this time period is heavily significant for a
number of reasons, namely the social upheaval and the new state controlled ... Show more content on

It had roots in the repression of the kulaks and the Shakhty Trials, but branched out to attack political
opponents to Stalin within the Bolshevik cadre. A series of trials occurred in Moscow, the accused
were charged with conspiring to assassinate Stalin and other Bolshevik leaders. What makes these
trials so significant is that they showed the lengths that Stalin and his compatriots would go to ensure
their personal safety. All of the accused were found guilty of conspiring with the fascists and Leon
Trotsky (at this point in exile) to bring down the socialist state, and bring a return of capitalism. As
many Western historians have noted, these trials were far from fair. They are generally referred to as
show trials as they were highly politicized and resulted in the deaths of all of the accused without any
fair judicial proceedings (Fitzpatrick,

The Civil Rights Movement and the Kerner Commission Essays
The civil rights movement was a period of time when blacks attempted to gain their constitutional
rights of which they were being deprived. The movement has occurred from the 1950 s to the present,
with programs like Affirmative Action.
Many were upset with the way the civil rights movement was being carried out in the 1960 s. As a
result, someone assassinated the leader of the movement, Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. Many blacks were infuriated at this death so there were serious riots in almost
100 cities. President Johnson then appointed a committee called The Kerner Commission to study the
civil rights movement. They concluded the following: We are moving toward two societies one white
and one black, separate and unequal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this new political power they have obtained, blacks have the ability to elect other blacks to
represent them. There are over four times as many blacks in office today, than before the movement.
This helped the blacks because they could have a representative to speak for them. A few years ago, a
black named David Dinkins was elected mayor of one of the largest cities in America, New York. In
1968,
Chrisam became the first black woman in the House of Representatives and in 1984, a popular black
leader, Jesse Jackson ran for president. All this is a success because one of their goals was to have
political power and equal opportunity. A second reason why the civil rights movement was politically
more of a success than a failure is due to the fact that blacks are better off in the courts than they were.
Now, blacks are allowed to serve on juries, and they are hardly ever discriminated in court as opposed
to when the boy was over sentenced for stealing an ice cream. For example, O.J. Simpson, who was
accused of killing his wife, received a fair trial and was let off not guilty. In the 60 s in the south, he
would have been found guilty very quickly.
In the economic sense, the Kerner report has some truth today, but overall the civil rights movement
was a huge success in this area because blacks are much better off today than they were before the
movement. Before the civil

Explain how Oscar Romero s religious beliefs affected his work for social change
I will not tire of declaring that if we truly want an effective end to the violence, we must eliminate the
violence that lies at the root of all violence: structural violence, social injustice, the exclusion of
citizens from the management of the country, repression, Oscar Romero said in his sermon on the 23rd
September 1979. Six months later, Romero was shot and killed. During the 1970 s and 80 s the El
Salvadorian public experienced a brutal campaign of repression by the military government, which
claimed thousands of lives. The leader of the church, Oscar Romero began to speak out on behalf of

Romero s words to reach peasant farmers who did not believe they were welcome in church. In 1977
Romero became Archbishop of Santiago de Maria. Then, On 12 March 1977, Fr. Rutilio Grande and
two people Romero is travelling with are shot and killed. Asa result of this, Romero cancels all Masses

refuses to attend any government event until the murder is solved. Later that same year Romero
became Archbishop of San Salvador, the capital city. Thousands of people were going missing. The
president of El Salvador failed to investigate these killings, even after Romero demanded that he
should.
In 1979 Romero presented the pope with seven reports of kidnapping, torture and murder. By this time
the amount of people being killed was more than 3000 per month and Romero could offer no more to
El Salvador than hope and faith.
On March 23, 1980, Romero began to speak out to the soldiers: I beg you, I implore you, I order you...

while giving Mass in the Divine Providence Hospital. Romero became a martyr and is now regarded

In conformity with the social norms, people learn by imitating others. However, people don t learn
only the acceptable social behaviours, they may also learn beyond the norms behaviours. Knowledge
gained in this way will have the chance to be transferred to another situation. This may continue all
the time and everywhere. In the same vein, we can argue that students spend most of their time by
learning. This can happen in different situations. It can be seen in groups while with others.
(Woldetsadik Lumadi, 2014) In a school situation students continuously engage themselves in the
learning process. It can be observed when they do assignments, read books and do other related
academic activities. Obviously, this is a regular process exercised by most of the students in schools.
However, the habit of doing these things can t happen at a time. It needs careful observation and
systematic exercise. All these efforts lead students to make their own meaning/understanding of the
activities. Besides, it enables them to reach at a level of sharing their own experiences and to become

that the identification of best characteristics of both teachers and students, either in group or

Parody In Monty Python s Life Of Brian
Monty Python s Life of Brian traces the tragic last year of Brian of Nazareth, a man who shares his
exact birthday and town with Jesus Christ, the subject of countless biblical epic films. Comedy
distinguishes this biopic, which features a male actor playing the analog of the Virgin Mary, a cured
leper begging for alms, and spontaneous song on the crucifix. It is not sufficient, however, to relegate
the film to parody, which seems the obvious criticism, simply for taking a comedic outlook. The
unique style and construction of many scenes imply that comedy partially motivated the film, but
other stimuli clearly contributed to its simple message. Closely analyzing the film s principal
utilization of non realistic elements and scenes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, the viewer expects the Virgin Mary to accept frankincense, gold, and myrrh. The
feminized male voice, the hideous face, the slapstick, and questioning if myrrh is a dangerous animal
all interrupt anticipated conventions that are informed by Bible scholarship, history, and a host of
previous artistic works. The canonical information that contributes to the viewer s expectations is
restored when the mother tells the three wise men that her child is called Brian, thus relinquishing the
Christ parody that could have been. The realism that permeates the first few shots allows the payoff
joke to work. Production designer and group member Terry Gilliam describes the achieved realism in
relation to the intended overall style: We actually wanted to give it a very rich feel, we didn t want it to
be too lit. You very often find comedy is over lit, but we wanted it to look like an art film. I don t see
any reason why a comedy shouldn t be beautiful. I wanted it to look like an epic: to look rich and have
depth of color. The intricate scenes in the film reveal a balance between humor and historical reality
that allows it to creatively explore ancient culture without having to rely on other canonical films for a
cheap laugh. The movie going public naturally assumes comedy plus history equals parody, which is
usually appropriate considering, for example, Robin Hood: Men in Tights (Mel Brooks, 1993), which

Why Is George Soros Important
When it comes to investors, they oftentimes remain in a one dimensional setting. To expound further,
investors oftentimes only think of themselves and their interests. Therefore, it remains a rarity for an

to donate billions of dollars to charitable causes. Due to the lack of concern, these investors also fail to
realize the bigger picture. Moreover, these investors do not receive the same critical acclaim and

Does the Canadian Charter Effectively Protect our Human...
Apart from the other laws in Canada s constitution, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is
an important law that affects every Canadian s rights and freedoms. It was created in 1981 by former
Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau to provide legal protection for the most important rights and freedoms.
These rights include fundamental freedoms, democratic rights, mobility rights, and legal rights. Most
but not all articles included in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are protected in the
constitution. However, if a Canadian feels that their rights are violated, they can challenge laws and

To prove that the Charter protects some rights but not all, a court case that involved Dr Henry
Morgentaler and the Supreme Court of Canada was successful after trials. Before this case, women

Therapeutic Abortion Committee. Three doctors including Morgentaler set up an abortion clinic that
allowed women to have an abortion without a certification of approval. He was later charged with
illegal abortion under section 251 of the Criminal Code. Morgentaler argued that women had full right
on deciding whether or not they wanted an abortion. This law was struck down as unconstitutional as
it violated a woman s right according to section 7 on the Charter.
Another example to support my statement involves the case R. V. Big M Drug Mart. Before this case,
the Lord s Day Act prevented people from opening shops on Sundays because that day was for
Christian people to go to church and spend time with their family. Big M Drug Mart was charged in
Calgary for unlawfully opening their store on a Sunday. They disagreed to the Lord s Day Act because
not every Canadian citizen had to have a religion. This case was later released and the law was struck

Whose Time Had Come
Although many people moved to the colonies for religious freedom, it was not long before the morals
began to loosen and religious expectations became a small, unimportant sector of everyday life. As the
first and second generations of colonists began to age and eventually die off, the upcoming population
gave into temptations of the world and were soon far away from the hand of God. When the
separatists made the trip overseas to the new world, they embarked on the dangerous journey in sight
of a place to raise their children under a government that allowed them to have more of a say in the
religious aspects of their children s lifes. The move to the colonies allowed the parents to better
oversee the child s religious education, but this plan for a new land of religious freedom and
concentration on God would eventually become overlooked. The colonists became disinterested in a
relationship with God, attending church services, and even upholding moral standards. While being a
church member was crucial to a citizens role in the town, the adults eventually saw little meaning in
these requirements (Tracy, 2). In the early days of New England, none but church members could hold
any office, or vote at elections. (1) The Puritans laid a discouraging amount of weight on a colonists to

  • 2. Internal Analysis of the Disney Company Internal Analysis The financial ratio analysis of a company is a useful indicator to measure the success of a company. By comparing financial ratios between companies in the same industry (competitors) it is a useful way for investors and shareholders to determine the financial health and/or the sustainability of a company. Disney s main competitors within the industry include Time Warner and 21st Century Fox. There are five key areas of comparison that provide excellent financial analysis of a company. They are short term solvency, long term solvency, asset management, profitability, and market value. Liquidity Ratio The short term solvency ratio is a measurement used to measure how well a company is able to meet debt obligations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For 2013 Fox had the highest ROE, which was 35.05. However Disney has been consistent over the past three years with a ROE around 14, whereas Fox s ROE is much more volatile (jumping up to 35.05 in 2013 from 4.34 in 2012). Disney s ROE is therefore the more reliable and better indicator of the company s continued growth and profitability. Market Value Ratio Market value ratios are probably the most important ratios for any publicly traded company; it s an indicator of how well the company is perceived as a whole. It reflexes how investors view the future performance and risks of the company. One such market value ratio that is used commonly is the cash flow per share ratio. This ratio is measured by taking the operating cash flow preferred dividends divided by the common shares outstanding. This ratio is more reliable than the EPS or earnings per share ratio because it is less likely to be manipulated. Because of this the cash flow per share ratio is judged to be a better indicator of a company s strength and position within the market. For 2013 Disney had the highest cash flow per share ratio amongst its competitors which was valued at 5.29. This was slightly better than Time Warner s which was 4.04 and was significantly better than Fox s 1.28. Overall Disney is in a better financial position than its competitors Time Warner and Fox. Disney s financial ratios have been rising at a pretty consistent rate which shows Disney s stability and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Foodborne Illnesses Of The United States 1. Introduction Foodborne illnesses is an important problem in the United States, which cause a total of 19,056 infections, 4,200 hospitalizations, and 80 deaths were reported in 2013. Moreover, foodborne illnesses cost the United States an estimated $152 billion per year in healthcare (Scharff, 2010; CDC, 2014). E. coli O157 belonged Shiga toxin producing Escherichia coli (STEC), it was usually classified pathotypically as enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) (Bryan et al., 2015). Between 2000 and 2010 have 5688 cases of O157 STEC infections were reported by FoodNet sentinel states, while the rate of O157 STEC infection decreased from 2.17 to 0.95 per 100,000 (Gould et al., 2013). By the way, Magwedere et al. (2013) also reported retail ground meat samples were purchased at grocery stores, local farmers markets, and online vendors, out of 16 ground chicken samples, 7 samples tested positive for O157 STEC. On the other hand, E. coli also causes diverse extraintestinal infections by uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC), urinary tract infections (UTI) is a good example to illustrate. The economic burden associated with urinary tract infections is estimated to be approximately 1.5 billion in the United States annually. According to previous studies, the food animal and meat reservoir might exist and isolate from retail chicken meat products for UPEC (Jakobsen et al., 2010; Shortlidge et al., 2013; Natalie et al., 2015). In recent research suggested UPEC besides the ability to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Effective Communication Practices Effective Communication Practices Communication is defined as the transfer and understanding of meaning (Robbins Judge, 2013) and is the foundation of every relationship. There are four main reasons for communication in business. They are to control, motivation, emotional expression and information (Robbins Judge, 2013). Without effective communication the sharing of ideas, information, feelings and questions cannot be completed. There is a process to communication and when the process is broken communication is not effective. In business it is a manager s responsibility to understand the process of communication, the functions of the communications and to minimize any barriers to communication so that there is effective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some managers or executives are simply poor listeners causing communication to constantly break down. When a peer or someone at lower or higher level of the organization is speaking to them, they may be daydreaming, showing lack of interest, reading, looking around, or listening to another conversation. Because they are not concentrating on what is being said, they may misunderstand part or the entire message. They may even believe that they are really paying full attention only to realize later that they cannot remember parts of the conversation. Receivers may also bring certain predispositions based on past experiences to the communication process. They may already have their minds made up, firmly set in a certain way. For instance, a manager may have heard that his or her new boss is unpleasant and hard to work with. When the new boss calls the manager for an introductory meeting, the manager may go into that meeting predisposed to dislike the new boss and pay little attention to what he or she has to say. Ways to Improve Communication Effectiveness Considering how many factors can create roadblocks to successful communication, it is fortunate that we can resort to numerous techniques for improving communication effectiveness. The single most important individual skill for improving communication effectiveness is being a good listener. Being a good listener requires the individual be prepared to listen, keep interruptions to a minimum, concentrate on both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Dallas Symphony Orchestra Analysis I recently got to hear a few works at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. These compositions were written by Richard Wagner, Igor Stravinsky, and Antonin Dvorak. I had a wonderful time and a great experience. The pieces were played very well by the orchestra and Daniel Muller Schott. Also, the conductor, Jun Markl, seemed very passionate and involved, and I liked the fact that he acknowledged when one of the performers did a good job. The concert was well received by the audience as a whole and myself, and put me in a very happy mood. The first work that was performed was Richard Wagner s Overture from the Flying Dutchman. This work gave out a strong sense of nationalistic pride in my opinion. The horns are very prominent in the piece and the strings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The vast spectrum of emotion that must be conveyed by a single person must be a challenging feat. You must be able to play fast and without break for long periods of time. I also believe that it would be merely impossible to play this piece without strong emotion and passion from the cellist, as they are the main focal point of the concert. The orchestra and the cello compliment each other seamlessly and in a way the I have never heard before. It s a perfect match and the piece wouldn t be the same without both of them in unmitigated harmony. For example, the cello may be playing softly and slow, then out of nowhere, the orchestra surprises the audience with loud, but simple tones. I believe that this is where the passion from the piece is divulged. The accompaniment is almost always grand and if I may, reminds me very much of a Beethoven like sound. The Cello Concerto s arguably second strongest theme is sadness. To me it s not a conventional sadness. It s not one of petty sorrow, but one of great loss and remembrance. As if you are remembering special times with a loved one that you dearly miss, where while you may be sad that they have past on, but you also remember the good times you had, and how they used to always make you laugh. So maybe it invokes sadness, but not a necessarily bad kind, it just has a mournful tone at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Four Brothers Research Paper On the eve of the Renaissance, there were four brothers of wealthy pedigree. Their sundry stories were as tightly knit as a twilled textile, always aloof with vigor and fraternity, in the small Welsh hamlet of Cartref. The eldest, named Robert, was the beneficiary of the family estate, a sprawling sheep farm. He spent his days crutching and herding the livelihood of the brother s elderly parents. The Second brother, named Frederick, apprenticed a blacksmith, and learned the craft of coercing iron and steel into tools of production as well as destruction. And the youngest two brothers, William and Harrison, earned a King s Shilling, bringing home honor, for King and for Country. These four brothers toiled and worked for the good of the others, ... • 7. Essay On Still Alice Howland In Still Alice, a college professor Dr. Alice Howland is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer s. We see Alice struggle with slowly losing her memories and not being able to work anymore, something Alice feels that defines her identity. Alice continues to try and remain herself by setting reminders and taking a daily quiz. However, her mental faculties continue to decline drastically and her family begins to treat her as something less than a person, and instead is viewed as a kind of burden on her husband and children. By the end of the movie Alice is no longer the same, and fails to kill herself as the former Alice instructed during a video instructing Alice kill herself when she could no longer answer a set of personal questions. The final scene concludes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus with this bodily criterion there is no ethical dilemma of murder, since Alice never ceases to be Alice. Thus, if taking this view to be valid then there is no ethical dilemma present with Alice instructing herself to how to kill herself. I will now state my own thoughts on personal identity and whether the psychological criterion with direct memory connection determines personal identity or the bodily criterion. Then I will give reasons for the validity of my perspective, and how it is incorporated with the films view. Although Still Alice supports the psychological criterion with direct memory connection, this criterion does not actually determine personal identity. Instead, the bodily criterion with normal cause of the brain is the factor of personal identity. This variation of the bodily criterion includes the most important organ in the human body, the brain. The brain controls the entire body, and how information is processed from stimuli in the environment. I also defend the idea that only half the brain is needed for brain continuity and normal ... • 8. Cost Of Art Education Pablo Picasso once said Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. Think about this, when a child is young they are given crayons and paper to occupy their time; mothers sing to their babies or play them classical music. From a young age we are taught to create, and we really are all artists. We create until creation is deemed nonessential, and the art projects we work into our everyday routine are demoted to electives. Funds for Education have been cut in over 80% of U.S. schools in the last 10 years, and the first programs to leave are often art education. Harvard President Drew Faust recently wrote. The same classes we as a nation are deeming unnecessary are mandatory in countries that rank consistently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... School System needs to stop defunding art programs because art is important in our history. Without art, we would have less interpretation of our history. In any history class we study the artists of each time period and how they interpreted their times. Most of what artists do is tell stories, they help us make sense of the world. It can connect us to the past, present and the future. Throughout history our greatest minds have often merged discovery and art, the geniuses we learn about in history aren t only math matachins or scientists, but artists on top of that. Einstein stressed the importance of having a creative mind, once saying I m enough of an artist to draw freely from my imagination, which I think is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world. Without art we would have a much more narrow view of our past, and future generations will have a narrow view of our current events. Sure, you could say that we still have a history without art; but without photos, paintings, and sculptures would we really fully grasp our past? By cutting our generation off from art education we are cutting off future generations from learning too. Without artists to document our history, our great grandchildren will be without that connection to what s going on today. While art connects us to the past, and the world s history, it connects us to so much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the story Conrad was in a boating accident with his brother which caused his brother s death and Conrad blamed himself for his death. Then Conrad a year later tried to commit suicide and it forced him to have to spend time in a hospital to get better. When Conrad gets out he still feels little purpose in life and no motivation. He starts to see Dr. Berger to help him recover from everything he has been through. My relation with his problems isn t exactly the same but I can relate in a way. My stepdad had a car accident and the car accident caused his death. Me and my family were devastated when we found out. It can really change a lot when a family member dies. In chapter 13 Conrad gets into an argument with his mother. Beth hears from Lazenby s mother that Conrad quit the swim team. Beth is mad because he quit and didn t tell them about it. Conrad says that he just spends his time at the library, Conrad is getting angry and says that he would have told them if he thought they cared. Then Conrad ends up telling Beth to go to hell. His tragic flaw, ambition, forces him to become power hungry leading to his decision to murder King Duncan. This sends the kingdom into an immediate spiral of unnatural events and eventually leads to an upset of political and social discombobulation. The severed link between King Duncan and God ultimately changes the kingdom of Scotland from a prosperous country into a kingdom ruled by fear. The people of Scotland become sacred and anxious that Scotland is not a safe country, negatively affecting the social aspect of the kingdom. With everyone on the edge of the next turn of events, Macbeth s reign alters the community s perspective of the Thane of Cawdor. With the entire country of Scotland submerged in fear, Macbeth does a poor job of dealing with politics. Once he becomes the Thane of Cawdor he does not deal with political issues in the correct manner. With his spontaneous actions he is quick to solve issues with violence and murder rather than logical solutions. Macbeth s lack of political reign proves to be very disheartening for Scotland. It might have succeeded in achieving its goal, it still didn t have the right stuff . The prize we should award is a medal with a bird on it. An essential thing for a plane to fly anywhere except windy places is a system of flaps (or High Lift Devices). They are a simple version of thrust vectoring, which basically is how gasses are moved in a certain direction to move something in a certain direction. As flaps, they move air down and back, providing lift and a small amount of thrust. Another problem with the Flyer is that only the wings are covered by fabric. The wooden posts on the outside succumb to vortex shedding. That is when air hits any cylindrical object and forms vortexes of spinning air behind it. That causes violent, uncontrollable swaying, which can cause a plane to spiral out of control and become unable to be recovered. The final flaw was that it had a forward elevator. Had the elevator been positioned at the back, it would be easier to control and would let the plane climb higher without stalling. This would be of more use to the military, and might even have saved Selfridge, the highest ranking official with such a great knowledge of aeronautics at the time, had it been added. In these years of the Holocaust, up to six million Jews were killed. Initial efforts backfired with many peasants choosing to slaughter their animals rather than give them to the collective farm. As for the kulaks, some fled to the cities to find work while others decided to try and fight back. In retaliation, the OGPU (secret police) acted quickly and arrested the troublemakers. Massive numbers were deported across the country and into the Urals, Siberia, or the North. The intense crackdown was eventually a success. By 1932, the per cent of collectivized peasant farms had reached 62% according to official Soviet figures (Fitzpatrick, 138). As a result, someone assassinated the leader of the movement, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Many blacks were infuriated at this death so there were serious riots in almost 100 cities. Because of this new political power they have obtained, blacks have the ability to elect other blacks to represent them. There are over four times as many blacks in office today, than before the movement. This helped the blacks because they could have a representative to speak for them. A few years ago, a black named David Dinkins was elected mayor of one of the largest cities in America, New York. In 1968, Chrisam became the first black woman in the House of Representatives and in 1984, a popular black leader, Jesse Jackson ran for president. All this is a success because one of their goals was to have political power and equal opportunity. A second reason why the civil rights movement was politically more of a success than a failure is due to the fact that blacks are better off in the courts than they were. Now, blacks are allowed to serve on juries, and they are hardly ever discriminated in court as opposed to when the boy was over sentenced for stealing an ice cream. For example, O.J. Simpson, who was accused of killing his wife, received a fair trial and was let off not guilty. In the 60 s in the south, he would have been found guilty very quickly. • 35. Parody In Monty Python s Life Of Brian Monty Python s Life of Brian traces the tragic last year of Brian of Nazareth, a man who shares his exact birthday and town with Jesus Christ, the subject of countless biblical epic films. Comedy distinguishes this biopic, which features a male actor playing the analog of the Virgin Mary, a cured leper begging for alms, and spontaneous song on the crucifix. It is not sufficient, however, to relegate the film to parody, which seems the obvious criticism, simply for taking a comedic outlook. The unique style and construction of many scenes imply that comedy partially motivated the film, but other stimuli clearly contributed to its simple message. Closely analyzing the film s principal utilization of non realistic elements and scenes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, the viewer expects the Virgin Mary to accept frankincense, gold, and myrrh. The feminized male voice, the hideous face, the slapstick, and questioning if myrrh is a dangerous animal all interrupt anticipated conventions that are informed by Bible scholarship, history, and a host of previous artistic works. The canonical information that contributes to the viewer s expectations is restored when the mother tells the three wise men that her child is called Brian, thus relinquishing the Christ parody that could have been. The realism that permeates the first few shots allows the payoff joke to work. Production designer and group member Terry Gilliam describes the achieved realism in relation to the intended overall style: We actually wanted to give it a very rich feel, we didn t want it to be too lit. You very often find comedy is over lit, but we wanted it to look like an art film. I don t see any reason why a comedy shouldn t be beautiful. I wanted it to look like an epic: to look rich and have depth of color. The intricate scenes in the film reveal a balance between humor and historical reality that allows it to creatively explore ancient culture without having to rely on other canonical films for a cheap laugh. The movie going public naturally assumes comedy plus history equals parody, which is usually appropriate considering, for example, Robin Hood: Men in Tights (Mel Brooks, 1993), which barely ... • 37. Does the Canadian Charter Effectively Protect our Human... Apart from the other laws in Canada s constitution, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is an important law that affects every Canadian s rights and freedoms. It was created in 1981 by former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau to provide legal protection for the most important rights and freedoms. These rights include fundamental freedoms, democratic rights, mobility rights, and legal rights. Most but not all articles included in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are protected in the constitution. However, if a Canadian feels that their rights are violated, they can challenge laws and unfair actions using the justice system. In my opinion, I believe the Canadian Charter of Human Rights somewhat protects Canadians rights and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To prove that the Charter protects some rights but not all, a court case that involved Dr Henry Morgentaler and the Supreme Court of Canada was successful after trials. Before this case, women were only allowed to have an abortion after proper certification of approval from a hospital s Therapeutic Abortion Committee. Three doctors including Morgentaler set up an abortion clinic that allowed women to have an abortion without a certification of approval. He was later charged with illegal abortion under section 251 of the Criminal Code. Morgentaler argued that women had full right on deciding whether or not they wanted an abortion. This law was struck down as unconstitutional as it violated a woman s right according to section 7 on the Charter. Another example to support my statement involves the case R. V. Big M Drug Mart. Before this case, the Lord s Day Act prevented people from opening shops on Sundays because that day was for Christian people to go to church and spend time with their family. Big M Drug Mart was charged in Calgary for unlawfully opening their store on a Sunday. They disagreed to the Lord s Day Act because not every Canadian citizen had to have a religion. This case was later released and the law was struck down due to violation in section 2 in the Canadian Charter, which protected fundamental rights. In contrast, a case study involving Omar Khadr, the United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Whose Time Had Come Although many people moved to the colonies for religious freedom, it was not long before the morals began to loosen and religious expectations became a small, unimportant sector of everyday life. As the first and second generations of colonists began to age and eventually die off, the upcoming population gave into temptations of the world and were soon far away from the hand of God. When the separatists made the trip overseas to the new world, they embarked on the dangerous journey in sight of a place to raise their children under a government that allowed them to have more of a say in the religious aspects of their children s lifes. The move to the colonies allowed the parents to better oversee the child s religious education, but this plan for a new land of religious freedom and concentration on God would eventually become overlooked. The colonists became disinterested in a relationship with God, attending church services, and even upholding moral standards. While being a church member was crucial to a citizens role in the town, the adults eventually saw little meaning in these requirements (Tracy, 2). In the early days of New England, none but church members could hold any office, or vote at elections. (1) The Puritans laid a discouraging amount of weight on a colonists to be a part of the church. Exclusion from the Lord s table, that is, excommunication, was attended with the loss of certain civil rights, and, in most countries, followed by the infliction of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
