A Cross Country Analysis Of Public Debt Management Essay
PUBLIC DEBT
A Cross Country Analysis of Public Debt Management Strategies* Martin Melecky: Banking and
Debt Management Department World Bank
In order to finance expenditures on public goods and services that promote growth and increase
nations welfare governments often have to borrow this decision of how much to borrow is that of
fiscal policy which determines the targeted level of debt based on a sustainability analysis of
government debt. The main cause for the increasing domestic debt and its utilization to finance
revenue deficit, is the rigidity and the restricted scope for further expansion of the tax receipts and
low nontax revenue to meet the growing non developmental expenditure. This rise in non
developmental expenditure is attributed to interest payments and defense expenditure, accounting
for nearly one third of total expenditure. It is essential to understand the composition of domestic
debt, an important feature of fiscal policy. Internal debt, small savings, provident funds, and reserve
funds and deposits are the main constituents. With respect to India, internal debt of the central
Government is secured under the Consolidated Fund of India and that of the States in the case of
the State Governments. The structure of domestic debt has been fluctuating over time in India and
the share of internal debt in domestic debt has been declining, but it still accounts for more than
half of domestic debt. In India, external debt can only be incurred by the Central

Daniel Robin s Mission Statement
Daniel Robin s article is about having a clear picture of your mission and vision to carrying out
the roles of leadership. Robin share that the vision, mission, and values are more than just writing
it down on paper, but it also consist of processing, planning, and input the make it complete. This
will get rid of fruitless efforts and save time. The vision and mission must be clear and defined to
eliminate confusion.
Robin s defines vision as a help guide to a preferred future; it s similar to a mission that has no
deadline attached. The goal for vision is achieving possibilities for the coming future. Mission is
defined as the motivation aspect of the vision. It looks at the big picture to bring forth purpose and

The roles will put together a narrative that will be used as a mission statement. And lastly,
monitoring your success is necessary to accelerated progress.
The three repeated concept from the quotes reflects:
1.Faith without works is dead
2.The people parish for lack of knowledge
3.Faith is the sustains of things hope for and the evident of things not seen
My favorite quote is Vision looks inward and becomes duty. Vision looks outward and becomes
aspiration. Vision looks upward and becomes faith (Stephen Wise). The inward duty looks at the
mind and heart of man that relates to their walk with God. Outward aspiration looks at the strong
desire or ambitions of man. And lastly, upward faith looks to the author and finisher of man faith to
see and understand vision. It set s vision about everything else because with vision you are
obligated or required to complete the task. And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in
his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it
is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever

My Writing Portfolio
Writing Portfolio Reflection Over the course of the last four months, I have developed
numerous writing skills each week from our classes daily Khan Academy lessons, and I have
learned new, strong verbs to incorporate into my english papers. I have also recognized who I
am as a writer and what my securities are as an author. My experience thus far in Mrs. Lahiti s
language arts course has been very successful for I have grown as an author. In this reflective essayI
will explain my strengths and weaknesses as an english writer, and give textual backup to prove
how I have grown. I would consider myself a good writer, but getting thoughts from my head to
paperhas always been a difficult and long process for me. So when given an in class essay
assignment, such as the identity of Marjane Satrapi, it s likely not my best work. In the
Persepolis essay, I misspelled a couple of easy words such as rebelled, against, and toward. I
always feel rushed when given a timed assignment and suffer the consequences of making a few
too many stupid mistakes. I have also struggled with thesis statements. For example, in the same
Persepolis essay my thesis statement was Marji was daring. The problem with this sentence is that
I didn t elaborate the three main traits of Marji s identity, I only named one. I think if I was given

have overcame in the last couple years. I used the five senses to embellish more details of taste,

Role Of General Practitioners And Primary Care Providers
2. Primary Care/General Practice Role of general practitioners/primary care providers in
diagnosing dementia Primary care physicians (PCP) play a crucial role in dementia diagnosis.
Older patients receive healthcare primarily from their general practitioners (GPs). [51, 52] Most
patients and carers prefer their GPs to be the first source of professional help when dealing with
dementia. [53 55] The Australian guidelines advocate early diagnosis by timely exploration of
symptoms raised by patients and carers. [14] It would be reasonable for GPs to initiate the
diagnostic process for suspected dementia cases before referring to specialists or memory clinics
for confirmation of diagnosis. Following a formal diagnosis, GPs are expected to provide ongoing
management and follow up, with adequate monitoring of efficacy and side effects of dementia
modulating drugs; detection, prevention and treatment of dementia complications such as
Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD), falls, malnutrition; and
appropriate referrals to support services. [56 60] The disclosure of dementia diagnosis should be a
shared responsibility between specialists and GPs, with GPs exploring patients perceptions about
symptoms and initiating tentative discussions about possible diagnoses prior to referral to
specialists and provide ongoing emotional and practical support post diagnosis. [61] Although
discussion of advanced care planning, legal issues and driving may be raised by

The Importance Of Environmental Justice
In todays world, there are a fair share of groups with opposing viewpoints as well as mindsets,
which often leads to conflict. Certainly the forestry world has had its fare share of people in power
making decisions based on whats best for them finically or personally, and not what is best for the
community and/or forest. Deep ecology includes a large majority of the same concepts in which
they want to work towards the best interest of the forest and environment, and for the majority
focus on the fact that humans are interfering with the forest to much as it is, and it needs to be
changed (Naess, 264). Environmental justice focuses on how currently there is an elitist
membership and narrow scope in the current conventional environmental practices and tries to work
towards sustainability(Gottlieb 1993). When both of these collide they create what is knows as
Wicked Problems , they go beyond scientific, economic, and techno rational analysis and
methods of problem solving ( Nie 307). Hence is is difficult to know when said conflict has been
solved, We use the term wicked in a meaning akin to that of malignant (in contrast to benign ) or
vicious (like a circle) or tricky (like a leprechaun) or aggressive (like a lion, in contrast to the
docility of a lamb) (Rittel and Webber 1973: p. 160) Recently there has been an increase in the
amount of drivers in the modern environmental movement, some of which are resource scarcity,
rise of outdoor recreation, changing

What anaesthesiologist must be aware of superior vena cava clamping.
A 45 year male patient presented with low grade fever and shortness of breath on mild exertion
since 1 month. His chest x ray showed large mass shadow in right lung field. Computed
tomography was performed which revealed large soft tissue density mass lesion with areas of
necrosis and internal calcification measuring 12.5 cm * 12 cm in right side of mediastinum. The
mass was compressing right main bronchus and encasing superior vena cava. Positron emission

Measures to reduce central venous pressure (CVP) and cerebral metabolic rate for oxygen
(CMRO2) can effectively allow to increase SVC clamping time [4,6,7]. To maintain mean arterial
pressure, fluid administration and vasopressor use plays important role. However fluid infusion
through cannula placed in upper limbs would cause further rise in cerebral venous pressure.
Femoral venous or right atrial cannula would be effective in fluid resuscitation. Neuroprotective
methods like use of thiopentone and mild hypothermia can be used. BIS monitoring is essential
during such surgery. As brain metabolism is decreased, bispectral index also decreases. SVC
decompression can be done by creating temporary veno atrial shunt or cavo pulmonary
anastomosis for drainage of the SVC. (5,8) J.Y. Perentes et al described a new temporary SVC
bypass technique preoperative jugulo femoral bypass or intraoperative innominate femoral bypass
using standard perfusion tubing. SVC clamping induced jugulo femoral pressure gradient drives
blood from jugular to femoral vein without any need of a pumping device or additional
heparinization beyond that required for SVC reconstruction.(9) Hemodynamic imbalance and
neurological effects of SVC clamping can be life threatening. Anaesthesiologist must be aware of

Case Study Bea Rosen
1. There are a few boundary issues that need to be addressed. The social worker developed a
personal relationship with Bea. Bea was in need of additional income, she wanted to find a
female to rent her spare room to. The social worker had a friend, a woman who might be
interested renting the room (Hoffman, St. Clair, 2003, p. 46). She asked for permission to let her
friend know of the room, asking to releasing Bea s information was appropriate. The boundary
issue is that the social worker should have not even offered her friend as an option to rent the
room. This situation becomes a conflict of interest and cross the boundaries of social worker and
client (NASW, 2008, p. 7). In addition to this situation the social worker admitted to having... Show

Case Study On Refactoring
Survey of Software Refactoring Summary: The paper published by Tom Mens and Tom Tourwe
provides us an overview of existing research in software refactoring. The refactoring activities,
techniques, formalisms and the types of artifacts are taken into criteria. Since the software has been
evolving with time, the code has become more complex, hence the software development cost s
major part is given to software maintenance. Refactoring or restructuring is the problem which
implies the need of techniques that reduce software complexity by improving software quality.
Refactoring is the process of changing a software system in such a way that it does not alter the
external behavior of the code, yet improves its internal structure . The classes,... Show more content

Here, automation, reliability, configurability, coverage and scalability or refactoring tools are
considered. Process Support: Software reengineering is important to restructure the old
software, which is essentially done by refactoring method. Evolution conflicts arise when
parallel refactoring is done. Same is the case with object oriented application frameworks,
software families/ product line. Critique: Firstly, refactoring cannot be applied for the codes
written in non object oriented languages. Secondly, refactoring cannot be done for the processes
with less delivery time, this is because refactoring requires considerable amount of time for
testing. Thirdly, the refactoring process fails even though it does not alter the behavior of the
program. Next, the refactoring process depends on the complexity of code and the errors and
the design of the code. Refactoring won t be a good idea for very complex codes. When the
refactoring process is applied to a complex and high error code, the rate of success is too low. The
entire system is affected due to the loss of so much time and the cost invested on the refactoring

Fast Times At Ridgemont High Feminist Analysis
The wave of feminism has remained an undisclosed matter to America s patriarch society, but
over the years it has gradually emerged and is being exploited in mainstream Hollywood films.
Two films that validate the feminist movement in an effective approach are Fast Times at
Ridgemont High and John Tucker Must Die. Both films elaborate on the feminist methodology
revealed in a high school setting surrounded by macho teenage boys and sexually frustrated
adolescent girls. The two films are directed by two eminent female directors. Fast Times at
Ridgemont High, which is directed by Amy Heckerling, is a 1982 Hollywood filmthat gives insight
on feminist discourse, but not subjecting or altering the mainstream patriarchy narrative structure.

The two films are successful at adapting to Wood s 5 pronged formula, which focuses on sex, the
suppression of parents, the variation of character identification, the method of the hunter/hunted,
and the repression of homosexuality. Although the two films take place in a school atmosphere,
there is no evidence of students learning. The assumption is being made that the characters are
only intrigued with sex. In Fast Times, Stacy s parents are mentioned throughout the movie, but
remain unrevealed. Her mother, who tucks her into bed, only makes one appearance on screen. In
John Tucker Must Die, Kate s mom, Lori is barely displayed on the screen. She is only shown
leaving to go out on casual dates with different men. In both films, the directors utilizes the
variation of character identification by using classical high school stereotypes and gender roles, such
as the popular guy, and the girl next door. In Fast Times, Heckerling practices the method of the
hunter/ hunted, which also signifies the looker and the participant who is being observed. During
the scene with Stacy and Mike, they are both shown equally observing each other as they both take
off their clothes. Another example of the hunter/hunted method is when Brad is being observed by
two women at a red light. In John Tucker Must Die, the girls who throw themselves at John are
perceived to be the

Examination Of Paul s Thesis
In Romans, the Apostle Paul creates a powerful proclamation that salvation and forgiveness of sin
is through faith in Jesus Christ. In a series of questions and historical facts, he builds a case for his
declaration. Examination of Paul s statements provides substantiation of justification by faith
supported by the apostle James teaching.
Paul exposes his thesis by declaring a righteousness from God separate from the law (Rom. 3:21
[NIV]). God s acceptance is available apart from the old legal obedience, foretold by the Law and
Prophets, to all people, through faith and belief in Jesus Christ. From this proposal, he would argue
that history and logic prove Christ as the savior of mankind.
Beginning the argument, Paul establishes his basic

The Colonists Did NOT Have Adequate Cause for the American...
Were the Colonists Justified in Their Rebellion against England? Yes Did the Colonists Have an
Adequate Cause for Revolution? No
Starting after the termination of the Seven Year s war, by the Peace of Paris, England repeatedly
violated the American Colonists rights. A series of events, happening between 1763(ending of the
Seven Years war) and 1775 (starting of the revolution), could be taken as motives for the American s
revolution. The Americans claimed that through both, the Sugar Act (1764) and the StampAct
(1765), the British dishonored their rights to taxation. The Townshend Acts also infuriated the
Americans, and as in all other circumstances, they were willing to fight for their rights. The final
justification for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Americans surely refused when asked, by the parliament to revoke the circular letter passed by
the Massachusetts assembly. This created more unity among the colonies, which added to the Acts,
were one more justification for their rebellion.
The Coercive Acts, passed in 1774, were the biggest justification for the revolution. They were
known as the Intolerable Acts. The Acts closed the port of Boston, restructured the Massachusetts
government, allowed British officials to be tried in court in either Canada or Europe, and allowed
troops to be quartered wherever needed. The Americans felt that all these were violations of their
rights and that they had been forced to obey laws that violated their rights.
All the above decribed Acts and laws, were a justification for the revolution. However, they are
not valid causes for the rebellion. Considering that the main justification for the revolution was the
passing of the Coercive Acts, these Acts, were only passed because of the Boston Tea party. The
Americans might have said that they were full of all the taxes, and that Englang went too far with
the Tea Act. However Most of the taxes the Americans paid, were much lower than the taxes the
Britsh paid over the same goods.
Ultimately, the colonists were justified in their rebellion against England. However they did not
have an adequate cause for revolution.

The Cause Of Celiac Disease
Celiac Disease Celiac disease is a disease that is characterized by an autoimmune reaction to
gluten. Because of the way that the body reacts to gluten, the mucosa in the small intestine
becomes damaged (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2013). The mucosa is able to heal itself in the absence of
gluten, so many utilize strict diets excluding gluten as a method of therapy for the disease. Celiac
disease has inspired many different scientists and researchers to look into the cause of the disease
and how to better cure it (Green, P. H., Cellier, C., 2007). There are many myths and
misconceptions about Celiac disease. One of the most prevalent misconceptions is that Celiac

H., Cellier, C., 2007). A strict, gluten free diet is difficult to maintain, especially due to the high
prevalence of grains as ingredients in foods, as well as the high likelihood of cross

an alternate to a strict, gluten free diet. The drug would assist with, accidental ingestion of gluten,
but also for refractory celiac disease and continuing symptoms despite a gluten free diet, (Horizons
for Those with Celiac Disease, 2015). This would decrease secondary symptoms of Celiac disease,
such as headaches and stomach pain. Larazotide acetate works by blocking gluten proteins, which
prevents them from being absorbed across the gut, which completely inhibits the debilitating
immune response that occurs in those with Celiac Disease (Horizons for Those with Celiac Disease,

Persuasive Essay On Boxing
Boxing has elements to it that teaches you more about fighting than you think is possible. People
who have never tried it think that because boxing only involves using the hands/fists without any
kicking or other moves that it s not real fighting. Those who have tried boxing know that it s tough
sport that involves strict training and tough competition. It s genuine athletics that requires raw
speed, stamina, and power. Your reflexed in boxing
need to be quick and that involves fast reaction
time on the part of the boxer.
All types of fighters from mixed martial arts should learn to box because they will benefit from it.
Even if the punches and techniques aren t interesting to you, it s still a good sport to learn and
master. It will improve your athletic performance, speed, stamina, and your reflexes and reaction
time. It builds confidence and gives you polished moves.
Here are 5 viable reasons why every fighter should get some boxing skills.

Speedy Reflexes are important in boxing. Boxing matches are faster paced than other fighting
/combat sports. The opponents are closer in proximity with both attacking and defending at the
same time. You don t hear the bell, walk out and walk around in boxing. You step out and start
fighting. Sure, that s great for hand to hand, but what about with weapons or kicking? The
techniques used in boxing improve your reaction time and reflexes, which helps you be faster
when you need to be, and teaches you how to use your hands when you re without a weapon or
unable to kick.
2.Master the Art of Slickness by learning to box. You can master the art of slickness known as
the sweet science of boxing. Art + Efficiency = Slickness. That s the equation. Being slick helps
you overwhelm and shutdown your opponent. While it s a rare occurrence, slickness looks like a

Population Control In The Lottery
Population Control The more time the Earth is populated with humans, the more overcrowded it
becomes. Shirley Jackson s The Lottery gives an example of how some people view they can
control the population. Similar to the The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, both stories provide
the extreme case scenarios for this control. Jackson using symbolism to suggest the non conformity
plays a role in the outcomes of someone s life. The Lotterytakes place on June 27th. The first thing
most people think about when they hear June is no school, or summer. For this small village, it
means someone is about to die. The process of the lottery is so normal for these people they do
not think anything of it, as long as they are home in enough time for noon dinner. ...but in this
village, where there were only about three hundred people, the whole lottery took less than two
hours, so it could begin at ten o clock in the morning and still be through in time to allow the
villagers to get home for noon dinner (Jackson 221). The characters throughout the story suggest
how normal it is by their actions. Mrs. Hutchinson shows up late to the lottery because she was

Taking a Look at Global Warming
Natural and anthropogenic substances like green house gases that alter earth s energy budget
are drivers of climate change. Radiative forcing (RF) quantifies the change in energy fluxes
caused by changes in these drivers and positive RF leads to surface warming. The largest
contribution to total RF is caused by the increase in the atmospheric concentration of CO2 (1.68
W m 2) followed by CH4, Halo carbons and N2O since 1750 (IPCC 2013). According to IPCC
2013 the CO2 concentrations will raise unprecedentedly from 391 Parts per million (p.p.m) in
2011 to 550 700 p.p.m. by 2050 and to 670 936 by 2100. Ironically, most of the CO2 is mitigated
by plants with photosynthetic reaction that converts solar energy into energy stored in
carbohydrates. A lot of research has been done through last few decades, to investigate elevated
CO2 induced changes in plants and to identify potential candidate tree species that sequester more
CO2 under elevated CO2. Elevated CO2 enhances photosynthetic rate, reduces stomatal
conductance resulting in a higher amount of plant mass and yield.
Photosynthesis and growth of most plants are stimulated by elevated atmospheric CO2
concentrations (Schortemeyer 2002). The continuous stimulation of photosynthesis in C3 plants by
elevated CO2 increases the availability of carbohydrates and in doing so, alters the balance of C
and N resources. The main C N interactions proposed to influence responses to elevated CO2
include down regulation of leaf N

Mr. Burns, A Post Electric Play
With the title alone, it is easy to assume that Mr. Burns, A Post Electric Play would not be a
typical play. Unlike other performances, Mr. Burns is not a simple narrative. Quite literally, it is
a play within a play. The narrative lacks structure due to how it stands as a social commentary on
the importance of entertainment to society. Mr. Burns began after what seems to be a traumatic
event that has affected everyone s way of life. From what we see as our survivors huddled around
a campfire in the woods. They recount a normalcy of how life used to be, an episode of The
Simpsons. Throughout the recounts on what happened in the episode Cape Feare , the play
introduces a new character which gives exposition to the current landscape of the United States. As
the play continues into its second and third act, there is a large shift on the scenery, lighting, etc. as
the cast begins to recreate the episode of The Simpsons which they discuss in the previous act.
While it is easy to get lost on why everything is happening, why they are performing, it comes to
the central conflict of reclaiming normalcy of the world which has past, an episode of television. As
the performance goes on, the costume designrepresents where our characters are at in their
timeline. While, in the first act, the characters are dressed in stereotypical post apocalyptic attire, it
does vary in from what we are presented in the last two acts. Around the campfire, the characters

Durkheim And Marx Research Paper
Durkheim and Marx ideas of law are completely different. For one, I understand as a citizen of
this country that law is comprise with all aspects of our social life. The legal system is
intertwined with the ideas, aims, purposes, and actions of society. It s all about social control and
social change, by setting out rules for society whether is positive or negative. The law has been in
our nation developments for centuries, for the fear social chaos. That is the general thinking of
law for any country but Durkheim and Marx go more in depth of who control laws and what is

Marx theorize that law is an economic social power. Law and economic power have a reciprocal
relationship. The legal system is control by the elite the 1%, and they create policies to better their

Our founding fathers were elites that try to wipe out the Native American, and created slavery
for African Americans. Once America was not owned by England, they created laws that were
beneficial for them. They create Declaration of independence, the constitution, the bill of rights,
and so many other documents. When they were writing the document, they were not thinking
about Native Americans, African American and the poor, instead they were worry about their
land and resources that they took. I believe that capitalism drives the law. Most of the problem
and debate that we have in this is the racially poor families. The voices are not being heard and

some of Durkheim ideas. In some aspect the law could be influence by collective consciousness,

Emily Dickinson s Success Is Counted Sweetest Criticism
Jirawoot Sararit (B.A. English Linguistics) 1st Class Honors, SWU, Thailand
Success Is Counted Sweetest Success Is Counted Sweetest is a well known poem written by
Emily Dickinson in 1859. It is obviously seen that the message of the poem is that people who
do not succeed are those who truly understand success for what it is (Cummings, 2013). In other
words, deprivation can lead to greater understanding and appreciation of what people lack. This
paper is composed of three points including how the unity of the paradoxical idea of the poem is
presented, how the poem can be viewed historically and biographically in feminist aspects, and how
the central idea of the poem is responded.
The Unity of the Paradoxical Idea in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, the use of the word nectar‟ along with the word sweet‟ in the first stanza
implies femininity. It can be assumed that there is a message from a woman‟s point of view.
According to history and her biography, Emily Dickinson had modernist ideas that women should
have as equal rights as men which they did not have at that time. In fact, women, especially wives,
were treated as the slaves of men in the eyes of the law even though women can do several duties
that men cannot. Therefore, women started to work and to express their voice. (Leiter, 2007). This
background knowledge can be understood to explain when success „to comprehend a nectar‟
changes to „victory‟ in the last two stanzas. The image of a battle which causes physical and
mental pain to the defeated soldiers (men) is mentioned as „agonized.‟ It is clear that even
though men are strong, they still have weaknesses as shown in the image of losing the battle. It is
showed that both genders have weaknesses. Therefore, both of them should be equal. This feminist
idea is considered to be a dominant one during Emily‟s lifetime.
The Response to the Central Idea of the Poem After reading the first stanza, the central idea of the
poem seems absolutely right to me. The whole poem captivates my attention to realize the value of
what I am deprived. It can be

Categories Of Homelessness
Questions type 1
Poverty is defined as the deprivation of opportunity, for example lack of access to education,
health are and basic needs such as food, shelter, clothes. In Seattle, the most common
characteristic of poverty is homelessness. Riv Rick, a representative of the Night Watch agency,
said that over 10,000 people in Seattle are homeless every night. He divided these people in
three categories. The first category consists of people who have no access to basic needs. The
second category consists of people with Seasonal Affective Disorders. The third category includes
those who have a one time homeless experience. To be homeless in Seattle means not having a

Katrina Hale, a representative of the Catholic Community Services, mentioned some of the
programs they have that help the homeless in Seattle. These include providing facilities for the
homeless to bathe, wash their clothes, have medical care, and other services that help to make
their lives stable. In addition, this organization also provides adoption, foster care, youth tutoring
and other services that help the children and youth to grow up in a more secure and loving
environment. Tara Hoyt, one of the speakers we had in class, explained her experience visiting the
tent cities and other homeless people in Seattle. She explained how different it is to learn about the
hardship pf poverty from books and from actually visiting the poor. There is such a small space
with a large quantity of people occupying it. She also explains how these places smell so bad
because people barely take a shower. The reason as to why they do not bathe is not because they
do not want to but because they have little or no access to a place where they can bathe from.
Therefore, these people are deprived of resources that most of us have and

The New House Bill 4321
The ombudsman is supposed to protect detainees who are part of the immigration system; to make
sure that their rights have not been and are not being violated by those belonging to the
immigration system. His position is supposed to change how detainees will be represented and
treated while being held in detention centers. The position also entails that they have the right to
give suggestions on how to improve the administrative practices, services, and responsiveness of the
Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration. They also have other responsibilities in which their
position is supposed to better the relationship of the Bureau, the detainees, and the people in the
United States. The new House Bill was giving the ombudsman more responsibility than what the
original bill had stated. There still was many issues within the Bureau of Citizenship and
Immigration. House Bill 4321 objective, for this section, was to increase the possibilities in how the
ombudsman could help improve the department. The new House Bill 4321 is fixing the issue that
the people in the United States have with the people working in the detention center and how they
function. People have many critiques on the cleanliness, structure, function, health facilities,
respect, and accountability that detainees are receiving while being in custody. Many people
criticize detention centers because they are not clean, and they have human being living in a place

Qfd3 Case Study
Qfd1 (labeled as Qbws1 on the chart) was found at River Mile 189.5 preserved between a Black
Ledge lava dam remnant and a basalt flow. The base of the deposit was 110m above the current
river level while the top of the deposit was 170 m above the current river level. The clasts were
92% basalt and had identical Rare earth element (REE) patterns, which indicated that they came
from the same lava dam source. The clasts ranged in size from hyaloclastite ash and lapilli to a 6
m diameter limestone boulder. Based on age and pattern of REE, Qfd1 deposits seemed to have
correlated with the dam produced by the Upper Prospect lava flows (Fenton et al. (2004)). While
the Toroweap Dam correlated in age to Qfd1, its REE pattern did not align in a parallel... Show

It was composed primarily of gravels, basalts, and glass. The basalts and glasses in Qfd3 did not
seem to be related based on the La/Sm ratio while their Gd/Lu ratios were somewhat similar.
Qfd3 deposits were complicating in correlating to a specific dam to the fact that the presence of
extralocal river gravels and quartz in the lower parts of the deposition could indicate two
separate flooding events. One correlation is with the Whitmore Cascade because its La/Sm and
Gd/Lu was similar to the REE pattern of Qfd3 s boulders. Another idea is that the failure of the
Toroweap Dam could have emplaced the existing outburst flood deposit thus explaining the
presence of extralocal gravels. The hypothesis with the most consistent result is that the failure of
a lava dam near the Whitmore Cascade reworked the previous Qfd3 deposit and deposited
boulders and cobbles from the Whitmore Cascade on top of Qfd3 glasses. This hypothesis is
consistent with the REE chart thus this explanation is seen as a strong candidate. Qfd4 deposits

Wind In The Willows Map Analysis
On page 30, we see the map that shows how limited the scope of her father s life was. The map is
drawn with an internal circular frame that simulates the effect of a magnifying class, as if pulling
the locations (which are likely truly separated by several miles) that much closer together. The
text box overlaying this image, resting inside the scope of the magnifying glass, informs the
reader that this impression of proximity is simultaneously misleading, and accurate. So far, we
have only seen it as misleading. However, if we compare the image produced by this map to the
very next panel, we see an image that zooms in even closer and demonstrates how reluctant his

The Writer in the Family
Pain Shown Through Symbolism
How does one show his or her pain? Jonathan s agony from the death of his father is
shown throughout The Writer in the Family by utilizing symbolism. To Jonathan, it s as if his
father did not die a complete death and that haunts him. This pain is shown in a unique way
throughout the story. Jonathan, as he tells this first person narrative, does not come right out and
put words to his feelings concerning his father. At the start of the story Jonathan plainly states
that his father died in 1955 and he explains the situation of how Jonathan s aunts on his dad s
side choose not to tell Jonathan s grandmother about his father s passing, but he does not reveal
the sorrow resulting from the death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jonathan then tells his mother that the suit is too big, since the sense of his father in
the jacket scares him. As with the symbol of a missing headstone, this image of Jonathan feeling
a little part of his father in the suit because of the lingering scent of his father, again shows how
Jonathan has not really come to accept his father s death. This symbol suggests a presence of
his father from which he has not freed himself ( Writer ). He has not been able to do so since
he is forced to keep the image of his father alive by writing letters pretending to be his father. In
the story, Jonathan does not come right out and explain his inner conflict due to the passing of
father, but instead he describes himself being uncomfortable while trying on his father s suits, to
address his conflict. Also, Jonathan s inner conflict stems deeper into the person that he will
become. Jonathan s discomfort and his sense of being less than his father are represented by his
uneasy feeling when he tries on his father s too large suit jacket (Heims 275). A suit jacket too
large for Jonathan symbolizes that Jonathan does not feel that he is living up to his father, and it
suggest his fear of being less than his father was. Being less than the man his father was, when
he was still living, scares Jonathan, readdressing the character s pain. In all, it is evident of

For over a decade our healthcare system has been flawed, and for over a decade several

Election, when President Clinton made health care reform a centerpiece of his campaign.
(Bok, 1998). After winning the election he quickly formed a committee to address the multitude
of problems healthcare was having. After appointing Mrs. Clinton as the head of the task force
and months of speculation, a 1000 page document was presented to Congress on September 1993
outlining the guarantee of basic healthcare for all Americans. In a forceful tone, he urged the
lawmakers to fix a health care system that is badly broken... giving very American health security

predecessors in the past, his plan would come to a standstill on September 26, 1994 when Senate

time President Bush took office there was change in the air, but overall healthcare reform for all

Saving Accounts and changes in code for healthcare insurance, instead for the millions who lacked

Biological Evolution Of Cancer And Its Effects On The World

development of medical science and technology, many terrible diseases in the history have been
eradicated or controlled such as smallpox, cholera, and phthisis. But why cancer is still threatening
human, making people suffering so much? The reason is that people still don t know the
mechanism of cell canceration.
In the view of biological evolution, the history of cancer is even longer than that of the human
being, because before the appearance of human, there have been other animals and plants living in
this planet, and the malignant tumor may just appear on any kinds of creatures. But the real

As for the theory about the origin of canceration, there are 2 main different opinions. One side
insists that the canceration is a result of the change of genes. In another word, it is because the gene
mutation under the influence of the many factors that cause the result. While another side think
that the gene will not change in this process, and the real reason is that the process of the control
and expression of genes comes about mistakes, resulting in abnormal cell differentiation and even
abnormal membrane features and defects of immune system.
The former is called the gene theories, and the latter is known as epigenetic theory. Later, some
scholars combined both of these two theories to explain the mechanism of cancer. And they can be
called comprehensive mechanism. And only after the discovery of oncogenes in human tumors,
there appears to be some breakthrough in the research of the mechanism of carcinogenesis. We will
discuss these different hypotheses of mechanism of carcinogenesis process separately next.
1.Genetic mechanism The theory of mutant of somatic cells is said to be the main representative
of this side. As early as 1914, Boveri, a German scholar has illuminated in his book the origin of

Personal Is Political
According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, political is defined as a situation that relates to the
government or the public arrangements and rulings for a country ( political ). Political can also
be viewed as the means and processes in which a country is able to govern their citizens and for
them to do same for the government. The political agenda can relate to the lives of an individual
person when it impedes on their natural rights. This can seen in many cases where a personal
experience or condition influences the choices of an individual. There has also been debate
about if the personal needs to be kept separate from politics to make unbiased choices. Two
examples of this topic of debate is the separation of church and state, and the ethics of war and
combat. However, the personal is political argument opposes this idea by stating that the personal
interests and experience of an individual can be used to shape a country s political and social
agenda (Harutyunyan 50). Using the argument of personal is political it can be shown that one s
experiences with their own body and psyche can help shed light on specific political and social
issues in a country such as veterandisability and mental illness. The body can help raise social
awareness for campaigns that advocate against air pollution by showing the deteriorating health of a
nation s population or help bring attention to issues such as veteran disability compensation. The

Analysis Of The Poem The Of Mendoza Utilises Onofre...
It is fair to say that Mendoza utilises Onofre Bouvila as a character to be portrayed as a direct
parallel to the development and aspirations of Barcelona. This is expressed in the novel, since; it

Therefore, one can surmise that Barcelona will never be able to consider it as the most significant
and influential city in Spain. This is mainly due to the fact that, it has the smaller population and is
not the capital city.
This is further illustrated with Onofre at the end of the book. When Onofre disappears on his
flying machine it is Mendoza s method to demonstrate to the reader that Onofre has given up on
his aspiration of achieving the highest echelons of the social ladder in Spain. This could be
Mendoza s intention to show that Barcelona s aspiration to escape the suppression by the hands of
Madrid is dissipating. Los que alertados por el ruido de los motores habГan salido a los balcones o

Mendoza, about the vociferous nature of which Barcelona and Catalonia attempt to gain
independence from Spain. He achieves this denigration by displaying Catalonia s cries for
independence as falling on deaf ears. Hence Mendoza uses the character of Onofre to express his
point of view that the objectives Catalonia

Protagonists of novels should be relatable and realistic. They should be individuals with whom

should seek to define his flaws and limits, and whether or not he exhibits spiritual imprisonment , as
Robert Stone terms it. Of course, it is necessary to identify exactly what spiritual imprisonment is.
At its core, spiritual imprisonment can be defined as someone being restricted by someone or
something else from pursuing what they value. The character of Stevens that Ishiguro draws in his
short narrative, and the personal values that Stevens subtly exhibits, suggest that Stevens, while
misguided in his values for a large portion of the book, is free to pursue those values, and
consequently is not spiritually imprisoned.
Before delving further into an analysis of Ishiguro s protagonist, it is absolutely necessary to
identify exactly what Stevens values. He values and meditates on throughout the entirety of the
novel dignity. Specifically, Stevens posit[s] that dignity has to do crucially with a butler s ability
not to abandon the professional being he inhabits (Ishiguro, 42). Moreover, he reflects that the great
butlers are great by virtue of their ability to inhabit their

Cassirer, Nietzsche and NiccolГІ Machiavelli s The Prince
When the word Renaissance is mentioned, an image of love for antiquity learning and fine arts
usually springs to one s mind. Yet this perception, however legitimate it may be in many areas of
Renaissance human achievements, shatters in the face of NiccolГІ Machiavelli s masterpiece The
Prince. Unlike his contemporary Baldassare Castiglione who exemplified subtlety, Machiavelli was
ruthlessly practical, nonchalantly callous, and admirably seamless in his logics about the bloody
art of political power.
By all accounts The Prince, is a handbook on the acquisition and maintenance of political power.
Neither can it be argued any otherwise, like Ernest Cassirer has acknowledged in ... Show more

(p164, New Theory of the State ) The keen observer that was Machiavelli merely organized and
publicized the thoughts that once were only whispered amongst the political elites.
However, while The Prince can hardly be convicted of being a product of malice, what the
readers cannot forget is that Machiavelli based his Political Ruler 101 on his fundamental and
unshakable personal philosophical conviction that men are inherently self serving. Cassirer
recognizes Machiavelli for his cynical side: we shall never understand [man] as long as we are
suffering from the illusion of his original goodness (p163, New Theory of the State ). Much like
Thomas More who had the fictional More and Raphael Hythloday two halves of his same
philosophical self arguing about the practicality of an ideal society in Utopia, Ernest Cassirer
attempted to draw a distinction between Machiavelli the idealist who cherished dreams of a
Republic and Machiavelli the pragmatist who was necessarily pessimistic about the natures of
human and politics alike. The liberal Machiavelli ventured that the aim of the common people is
more honest than that of the nobles (p28); while the cynical Machiavelli claimed that any man
who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not
good. (p42)
The darker Machiavelli s views are echoed in Fredrich Nietzsche s philosophy. In his Morals as
Fossilized Violence , Nietzsche charged that humans at

Essay On Stop And Frisk
Gun violence has been a great issue in America throughout the years. Although there are many
procedures and regulations that attempt to keep gun control in effect, it has not been enough to
completely rid unlawfully owned weapons and its violence. One of these procedures is known as
stop and frisk, which means to stop a person and thoroughly pat down their outer clothing if the
person is suspected to be armed and dangerous. This procedure is often used by police officers
when attempting to confiscate illegal weapons. But many question if stop and frisk alone is an
effective and acceptable way in dealing with America s problem of gunviolence. Since problems
such as gang violence, assault, robbery, and overall crime usually involving guns are still occurring
today, it is believed that stop and frisk isn t an effective... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though it could have some effect, there are many different aspects that should be
considered about the stop and frisk procedure. Aspects to consider would be the consistency of
stop and frisk, as well as its outcomes, thoughts and views of the civilians, and even the police
officers. Changes and additions to the stop and frisk procedure needs to occur if law
enforcements wants to rid the streets of illegal weapons. Wilson says in his article, But if we are
serious about reducing drive by shootings, fatal gang wars and lethal quarrels in public places, we
must get illegal guns off the street. We cannot do this by multiplying the forms one fills out at gun
shops or by pretending that guns are not a problem until a criminal uses one (128). Wilson makes a
great point in this piece of his article, saying that forms, regulations, and written rules won t
effectively stop gun violence, but action will. But the actions law enforcement makes towards the
civilians should have precision and

The And The Little Difference Within The 20th Century
Migration has always been a controversial theme since the early twentieth century not only because
of it s complex historical development, but also it is related to and can be influenced by various
social issues such as social status, gender, and society s attitude towards immigrants. The aim of this
essay is to argue the how the similarities and the little difference within them of the characters in
literature play the role in theme of migration. The first similarity is that Antonia and Janie have a
same special identity besides their nationalities immigrants. Both two articles portray their youth
life, as immigrants, in America. They were depreciated because they are immigrants instead of
native Americans. In other words, their youth experience reflects the general Americans attitude
towards immigrants at the beginning of The Great Immigration. When Antonia talks to Jim about
how her whole family immigrated to America and how her father ended his life because of
language barriers, unfamiliar farming skills and more importantly, homesickness, Jim,
surprisingly, responds to her: People who don t like this country ought to stay at home, we don t
make them come here. After Antonia leaves, he even hopes that snooping girl would never come
to see them anymore. Jim, from a child s perspective, his judgement to immigrants can be
influenced by his family and the society. It is crystal clear that Antonia is depreciated by her peers,
even by the whole society because of her

(Ellison).
These haunting words render the true essence of Ralph Ellison s novel, which is the Invisible Man .
The title within itself engraves a meaning so deep that it shines light within the deepest crevasses of
the reader s soul. The brief excerpt interprets the true meaning behind Ellison s novel. As ambiguous
as it maybe, it summarizes not only the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
O meally suggests that Ellison also incorporates the Blues within his character developments for a
very different purpose, other than those of mood and rhythmic sequences. He suggests that
Ellison intentionally focuses on the music of Armstrong so as to introduce a concept of
materialistic fascination within the narrator. Just as the catchy tunes of the Blues, the narrator
too is fascinated by the concepts of equality and justice and is haunted by racial imbalances
however, he is simply intrigued by such ideologies but never really tries to divulge his entire
aspirations into the cause. He waits for a magical idea, which for him will be the ticket to
success and consequently allow him to become visible. He is in many aspects selfish to his own
dilemma of invisibility and strives only to be recognized much as the various artists from the
Blues era. The narrator s obsession with recognition can be recognized early on in the prologue
where he strings 1369 light bulbs in the underground hole just to feel visible. Such a comparable
lunacy can be observed in the Blues where many musicians often transcend into another state of
consciousness where the singular focus of their cognizance is the beat similar to the narrator s
unrealistic obsession with

Context, Violence and Leadership in Cormac McCarthy s...
Cormac McCarthy s Blood Meridian does a marvelous job of highlighting the violent nature of
mankind. The underlying cause of this violent nature can be analyzed from three perspectives, the
first being where the occurrence of violence takes place, the second man s need to be led and the
way their leader leads them, and lastly whether violence is truly an innate and inherent
characteristic in man. Cormac McCarthyonce said, I think the notion that the species can be
improved in some way, that everyone can live in harmony is a really dangerous idea. (Overview)
This quote leaves us with the impression that humanity as a whole is innately violent, and we will
explore this idea by examining Blood Meridian. This paper consists of three... Show more content

The question to ask is what caused the West to be such a formidable location? The first theory to
explore is that which states the land Blood Meridian took place in, Southwest America and
Mexico, caused an absence of responsibility, which then caused the violent acts. In Blood
Meridian massacres occur almost daily, yet civilization is neither built up nor hurt because there
is no civilization to break down. (Kiefer) At the beginning of the book, The Kid has been brought
to Captain White to be interviewed for a spot in the company. Captain White exclaims to the Kid,
There is no government in Mexico. Hell, there s no God in Mexico. Never will be. (Blood
Meridian 36) While this statement may be the byproduct of racism on Captain White s part, there is
no doubt that some part of this statement holds true. On many occasions the gang of scalp hunters
engage in illegal behavior in Mexico and are met by little law enforcement. For three weeks the
gang of Americans make Chihuahua city theirs, feasting, drinking and whoring. It becomes so bad
that the locals write on walls of the city, Mejor Los Indios. This translates to, Better the Indians.
(Schopen) Of course the gang encountered little to no resistance during their three week takeover of
the city, proving the

Executive Systems Responsible for Visually Guided Movement
Land (2009) suggests that three executive systems are responsible for visually guided movements,
namely gaze, vision and action, and these are overseen by a fourth system labelled the schema
system. Figure 2.12 is an illustration a particular model that has been developed to explain visually
guided movement in natural environments, so it is relevant to sport.
Figure 2.12 illustrates the relations of the schema, gaze, visual, a from nd motor systems during the
performance of a visually controlled action. (Adapted Land 2009:51 62).
The gaze system, consisting of the frontal eye fields is responsible for locating and fixating
(targeting) task relevant objects. The visual system, located in the occipital lobe and much of the
temporal lobe supplies information to the other two systems, providing feedback as to what is
being fixated and directional guidance to the motor system. In this way the eyes act to gather the
information necessary for successful performance (Land 2009). In line with this thinking it is
generally accepted that eye movements tend to precede motor actions by about one second, this is
dependent on the specific task demands (Land Furneaux 1997, Land 2009).
It has been identified that the first visible response in visually guided action is usually an eye
movement corresponding to the direction and location of some feature important for task
execution. The eyes then fixate and

Her father played piano, guitar, and harmonica; her mother played piano and sang. Her brothers

The disappointment of not getting into Curtis caused her to give up music for a while. Holding
various jobs to support herself until she eventually started working as a pianist and assistant to a
vocal teacher. One of the college students she taught introduced the idea that she go to Atlantic City
and find employment as an lounge entertainer. Knowing that her mother would not approve of this
notion, she decided to take a stage name. She chose Nina an affectionate term that an ex boyfriend
used to call her meaning girl in Spanish and Simone after Simone Signoret a French actor, because
she though it sounded sophisticated. With her new stage name, she got a job in a small bar and
grill off the boardwalk. At first she just played the piano, but her boss told her that she had to
sing or she could not keep the job. Nina began to put her own style a mixture from her
background of classical and gospel to popular songs. This led to an unexpected career as a jazz
entertainer putting aside her dreams of being a classical pianist.
During the 1960 s, Nina got involved with the current events the civil rights fight as an activist.
Outraged by the events and her own struggles this led her to take action; She used her music to try
to change society. Her music was often anthems for civil right movements such as the Student
Nonviolent Coordinating Committee during the 1960s and 1970s. After almost 50 years of music,

  • 2. A Cross Country Analysis Of Public Debt Management Essay PUBLIC DEBT A Cross Country Analysis of Public Debt Management Strategies* Martin Melecky: Banking and Debt Management Department World Bank In order to finance expenditures on public goods and services that promote growth and increase nations welfare governments often have to borrow this decision of how much to borrow is that of fiscal policy which determines the targeted level of debt based on a sustainability analysis of government debt. The main cause for the increasing domestic debt and its utilization to finance revenue deficit, is the rigidity and the restricted scope for further expansion of the tax receipts and low nontax revenue to meet the growing non developmental expenditure. This rise in non developmental expenditure is attributed to interest payments and defense expenditure, accounting for nearly one third of total expenditure. It is essential to understand the composition of domestic debt, an important feature of fiscal policy. Internal debt, small savings, provident funds, and reserve funds and deposits are the main constituents. With respect to India, internal debt of the central Government is secured under the Consolidated Fund of India and that of the States in the case of the State Governments. The structure of domestic debt has been fluctuating over time in India and the share of internal debt in domestic debt has been declining, but it still accounts for more than half of domestic debt. In India, external debt can only be incurred by the Central ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Daniel Robin s Mission Statement Daniel Robin s article is about having a clear picture of your mission and vision to carrying out the roles of leadership. Robin share that the vision, mission, and values are more than just writing it down on paper, but it also consist of processing, planning, and input the make it complete. This will get rid of fruitless efforts and save time. The vision and mission must be clear and defined to eliminate confusion. Robin s defines vision as a help guide to a preferred future; it s similar to a mission that has no deadline attached. The goal for vision is achieving possibilities for the coming future. Outward aspiration looks at the strong desire or ambitions of man. And lastly, upward faith looks to the author and finisher of man faith to see and understand vision. My Writing Portfolio Writing Portfolio Reflection Over the course of the last four months, I have developed numerous writing skills each week from our classes daily Khan Academy lessons, and I have learned new, strong verbs to incorporate into my english papers. I have also recognized who I am as a writer and what my securities are as an author. My experience thus far in Mrs. Lahiti s language arts course has been very successful for I have grown as an author. In this reflective essayI will explain my strengths and weaknesses as an english writer, and give textual backup to prove how I have grown. I would consider myself a good writer, but getting thoughts from my head to paperhas always been a difficult and long process for me. So when given an in class essay assignment, such as the identity of Marjane Satrapi, it s likely not my best work. In the Persepolis essay, I misspelled a couple of easy words such as rebelled, against, and toward. I always feel rushed when given a timed assignment and suffer the consequences of making a few too many stupid mistakes. I have also struggled with thesis statements. For example, in the same Persepolis essay my thesis statement was Marji was daring. The problem with this sentence is that I didn t elaborate the three main traits of Marji s identity, I only named one. I think if I was given more than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Role Of General Practitioners And Primary Care Providers 2. Primary Care/General Practice Role of general practitioners/primary care providers in diagnosing dementia Primary care physicians (PCP) play a crucial role in dementia diagnosis. Older patients receive healthcare primarily from their general practitioners (GPs). [51, 52] Most patients and carers prefer their GPs to be the first source of professional help when dealing with dementia. [53 55] The Australian guidelines advocate early diagnosis by timely exploration of symptoms raised by patients and carers. [14] It would be reasonable for GPs to initiate the diagnostic process for suspected dementia cases before referring to specialists or memory clinics for confirmation of diagnosis. Following a formal diagnosis, GPs are expected to provide ongoing management and follow up, with adequate monitoring of efficacy and side effects of dementia modulating drugs; detection, prevention and treatment of dementia complications such as Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD), falls, malnutrition; and appropriate referrals to support services. [56 60] The disclosure of dementia diagnosis should be a shared responsibility between specialists and GPs, with GPs exploring patients perceptions about symptoms and initiating tentative discussions about possible diagnoses prior to referral to specialists and provide ongoing emotional and practical support post diagnosis. [61] Although discussion of advanced care planning, legal issues and driving may be raised by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Importance Of Environmental Justice In todays world, there are a fair share of groups with opposing viewpoints as well as mindsets, which often leads to conflict. Certainly the forestry world has had its fare share of people in power making decisions based on whats best for them finically or personally, and not what is best for the community and/or forest. Deep ecology includes a large majority of the same concepts in which they want to work towards the best interest of the forest and environment, and for the majority focus on the fact that humans are interfering with the forest to much as it is, and it needs to be changed (Naess, 264). Environmental justice focuses on how currently there is an elitist membership and narrow scope in the current conventional environmental practices and tries to work towards sustainability(Gottlieb 1993). When both of these collide they create what is knows as Wicked Problems , they go beyond scientific, economic, and techno rational analysis and methods of problem solving ( Nie 307). Hence is is difficult to know when said conflict has been solved, We use the term wicked in a meaning akin to that of malignant (in contrast to benign ) or vicious (like a circle) or tricky (like a leprechaun) or aggressive (like a lion, in contrast to the docility of a lamb) (Rittel and Webber 1973: p. 160) Recently there has been an increase in the amount of drivers in the modern environmental movement, some of which are resource scarcity, rise of outdoor recreation, changing ... Measures to reduce central venous pressure (CVP) and cerebral metabolic rate for oxygen (CMRO2) can effectively allow to increase SVC clamping time [4,6,7]. To maintain mean arterial pressure, fluid administration and vasopressor use plays important role. However fluid infusion through cannula placed in upper limbs would cause further rise in cerebral venous pressure. Femoral venous or right atrial cannula would be effective in fluid resuscitation. Neuroprotective methods like use of thiopentone and mild hypothermia can be used. BIS monitoring is essential during such surgery. As brain metabolism is decreased, bispectral index also decreases. SVC decompression can be done by creating temporary veno atrial shunt or cavo pulmonary anastomosis for drainage of the SVC. (5,8) J.Y. Perentes et al described a new temporary SVC bypass technique preoperative jugulo femoral bypass or intraoperative innominate femoral bypass using standard perfusion tubing. SVC clamping induced jugulo femoral pressure gradient drives blood from jugular to femoral vein without any need of a pumping device or additional heparinization beyond that required for SVC reconstruction.(9) Hemodynamic imbalance and neurological effects of SVC clamping can be life threatening. Bea was in need of additional income, she wanted to find a female to rent her spare room to. The social worker had a friend, a woman who might be interested renting the room (Hoffman, St. Clair, 2003, p. 46). She asked for permission to let her friend know of the room, asking to releasing Bea s information was appropriate. The boundary issue is that the social worker should have not even offered her friend as an option to rent the room. • 9. Case Study On Refactoring Survey of Software Refactoring Summary: The paper published by Tom Mens and Tom Tourwe provides us an overview of existing research in software refactoring. The refactoring activities, techniques, formalisms and the types of artifacts are taken into criteria. Since the software has been evolving with time, the code has become more complex, hence the software development cost s major part is given to software maintenance. Refactoring or restructuring is the problem which implies the need of techniques that reduce software complexity by improving software quality. Refactoring is the process of changing a software system in such a way that it does not alter the external behavior of the code, yet improves its internal structure . The classes,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here, automation, reliability, configurability, coverage and scalability or refactoring tools are considered. Process Support: Software reengineering is important to restructure the old software, which is essentially done by refactoring method. Evolution conflicts arise when parallel refactoring is done. Same is the case with object oriented application frameworks, software families/ product line. Critique: Firstly, refactoring cannot be applied for the codes written in non object oriented languages. Secondly, refactoring cannot be done for the processes with less delivery time, this is because refactoring requires considerable amount of time for testing. Thirdly, the refactoring process fails even though it does not alter the behavior of the program. Next, the refactoring process depends on the complexity of code and the errors and the design of the code. Refactoring won t be a good idea for very complex codes. When the refactoring process is applied to a complex and high error code, the rate of success is too low. The entire system is affected due to the loss of so much time and the cost invested on the refactoring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Fast Times At Ridgemont High Feminist Analysis The wave of feminism has remained an undisclosed matter to America s patriarch society, but over the years it has gradually emerged and is being exploited in mainstream Hollywood films. Two films that validate the feminist movement in an effective approach are Fast Times at Ridgemont High and John Tucker Must Die. Both films elaborate on the feminist methodology revealed in a high school setting surrounded by macho teenage boys and sexually frustrated adolescent girls. The two films are directed by two eminent female directors. The two films are successful at adapting to Wood s 5 pronged formula, which focuses on sex, the suppression of parents, the variation of character identification, the method of the hunter/hunted, and the repression of homosexuality. Although the two films take place in a school atmosphere, there is no evidence of students learning. The assumption is being made that the characters are only intrigued with sex. In Fast Times, Stacy s parents are mentioned throughout the movie, but remain unrevealed. Her mother, who tucks her into bed, only makes one appearance on screen. In John Tucker Must Die, Kate s mom, Lori is barely displayed on the screen. She is only shown leaving to go out on casual dates with different men. In both films, the directors utilizes the variation of character identification by using classical high school stereotypes and gender roles, such as the popular guy, and the girl next door. In Fast Times, Heckerling practices the method of the hunter/ hunted, which also signifies the looker and the participant who is being observed. During the scene with Stacy and Mike, they are both shown equally observing each other as they both take off their clothes. • 11. Examination Of Paul s Thesis In Romans, the Apostle Paul creates a powerful proclamation that salvation and forgiveness of sin is through faith in Jesus Christ. In a series of questions and historical facts, he builds a case for his declaration. Examination of Paul s statements provides substantiation of justification by faith supported by the apostle James teaching. Paul exposes his thesis by declaring a righteousness from God separate from the law (Rom. 3:21 [NIV]). God s acceptance is available apart from the old legal obedience, foretold by the Law and Prophets, to all people, through faith and belief in Jesus Christ. From this proposal, he would argue that history and logic prove Christ as the savior of mankind. Beginning the argument, Paul establishes his basic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No Starting after the termination of the Seven Year s war, by the Peace of Paris, England repeatedly violated the American Colonists rights. A series of events, happening between 1763(ending of the Seven Years war) and 1775 (starting of the revolution), could be taken as motives for the American s revolution. The Americans claimed that through both, the Sugar Act (1764) and the StampAct (1765), the British dishonored their rights to taxation. This created more unity among the colonies, which added to the Acts, were one more justification for their rebellion. The Coercive Acts, passed in 1774, were the biggest justification for the revolution. They were known as the Intolerable Acts. The Acts closed the port of Boston, restructured the Massachusetts government, allowed British officials to be tried in court in either Canada or Europe, and allowed troops to be quartered wherever needed. The Americans felt that all these were violations of their rights and that they had been forced to obey laws that violated their rights. All the above decribed Acts and laws, were a justification for the revolution. However, they are not valid causes for the rebellion. Considering that the main justification for the revolution was the passing of the Coercive Acts, these Acts, were only passed because of the Boston Tea party. The Americans might have said that they were full of all the taxes, and that Englang went too far with the Tea Act. However Most of the taxes the Americans paid, were much lower than the taxes the Britsh paid over the same goods. Ultimately, the colonists were justified in their rebellion against England. • 13. The Cause Of Celiac Disease Celiac Disease Celiac disease is a disease that is characterized by an autoimmune reaction to gluten. Because of the way that the body reacts to gluten, the mucosa in the small intestine becomes damaged (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2013). The mucosa is able to heal itself in the absence of gluten, so many utilize strict diets excluding gluten as a method of therapy for the disease. Celiac disease has inspired many different scientists and researchers to look into the cause of the disease and how to better cure it (Green, P. H., Cellier, C., 2007). The drug would assist with, accidental ingestion of gluten, but also for refractory celiac disease and continuing symptoms despite a gluten free diet, (Horizons for Those with Celiac Disease, 2015). This would decrease secondary symptoms of Celiac disease, such as headaches and stomach pain. • 17. Taking a Look at Global Warming Natural and anthropogenic substances like green house gases that alter earth s energy budget are drivers of climate change. Radiative forcing (RF) quantifies the change in energy fluxes caused by changes in these drivers and positive RF leads to surface warming. The largest contribution to total RF is caused by the increase in the atmospheric concentration of CO2 (1.68 W m 2) followed by CH4, Halo carbons and N2O since 1750 (IPCC 2013). According to IPCC 2013 the CO2 concentrations will raise unprecedentedly from 391 Parts per million (p.p.m) in 2011 to 550 700 p.p.m. by 2050 and to 670 936 by 2100. Ironically, most of the CO2 is mitigated by plants with photosynthetic reaction that converts solar energy into energy stored in carbohydrates. A lot of research has been done through last few decades, to investigate elevated CO2 induced changes in plants and to identify potential candidate tree species that sequester more CO2 under elevated CO2. Elevated CO2 enhances photosynthetic rate, reduces stomatal conductance resulting in a higher amount of plant mass and yield. Photosynthesis and growth of most plants are stimulated by elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations (Schortemeyer 2002). The continuous stimulation of photosynthesis in C3 plants by elevated CO2 increases the availability of carbohydrates and in doing so, alters the balance of C and N resources. The main C N interactions proposed to influence responses to elevated CO2 include down regulation of leaf N ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Mr. Burns, A Post Electric Play With the title alone, it is easy to assume that Mr. Burns, A Post Electric Play would not be a typical play. Unlike other performances, Mr. Burns is not a simple narrative. Quite literally, it is a play within a play. The narrative lacks structure due to how it stands as a social commentary on the importance of entertainment to society. Mr. Burns began after what seems to be a traumatic event that has affected everyone s way of life. From what we see as our survivors huddled around a campfire in the woods. They recount a normalcy of how life used to be, an episode of The Simpsons. Throughout the recounts on what happened in the episode Cape Feare , the play introduces a new character which gives exposition to the current landscape of the United States. As the play continues into its second and third act, there is a large shift on the scenery, lighting, etc. as the cast begins to recreate the episode of The Simpsons which they discuss in the previous act. While it is easy to get lost on why everything is happening, why they are performing, it comes to the central conflict of reclaiming normalcy of the world which has past, an episode of television. As the performance goes on, the costume designrepresents where our characters are at in their timeline. While, in the first act, the characters are dressed in stereotypical post apocalyptic attire, it does vary in from what we are presented in the last two acts. People usually hide their identity to obtain things that they want. It is common to be fooled by someone s appearance. Emily Dickinson s Success Is Counted Sweetest Criticism Jirawoot Sararit (B.A. English Linguistics) 1st Class Honors, SWU, Thailand Success Is Counted Sweetest Success Is Counted Sweetest is a well known poem written by Emily Dickinson in 1859. It is obviously seen that the message of the poem is that people who do not succeed are those who truly understand success for what it is (Cummings, 2013). In other words, deprivation can lead to greater understanding and appreciation of what people lack. This paper is composed of three points including how the unity of the paradoxical idea of the poem is presented, how the poem can be viewed historically and biographically in feminist aspects, and how the central idea of the poem is responded. The Unity of the Paradoxical Idea in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To begin with, the use of the word nectar‟ along with the word sweet‟ in the first stanza implies femininity. It can be assumed that there is a message from a woman‟s point of view. According to history and her biography, Emily Dickinson had modernist ideas that women should have as equal rights as men which they did not have at that time. In fact, women, especially wives, were treated as the slaves of men in the eyes of the law even though women can do several duties that men cannot. Therefore, women started to work and to express their voice. (Leiter, 2007). This background knowledge can be understood to explain when success „to comprehend a nectar‟ changes to „victory‟ in the last two stanzas. The image of a battle which causes physical and mental pain to the defeated soldiers (men) is mentioned as „agonized.‟ It is clear that even though men are strong, they still have weaknesses as shown in the image of losing the battle. It is showed that both genders have weaknesses. Therefore, both of them should be equal. This feminist idea is considered to be a dominant one during Emily‟s lifetime. The Response to the Central Idea of the Poem After reading the first stanza, the central idea of the poem seems absolutely right to me. The clasts were 92% basalt and had identical Rare earth element (REE) patterns, which indicated that they came from the same lava dam source. The clasts ranged in size from hyaloclastite ash and lapilli to a 6 m diameter limestone boulder. One correlation is with the Whitmore Cascade because its La/Sm and Gd/Lu was similar to the REE pattern of Qfd3 s boulders. Another idea is that the failure of the Toroweap Dam could have emplaced the existing outburst flood deposit thus explaining the presence of extralocal gravels. The hypothesis with the most consistent result is that the failure of a lava dam near the Whitmore Cascade reworked the previous Qfd3 deposit and deposited boulders and cobbles from the Whitmore Cascade on top of Qfd3 glasses. When Onofre disappears on his flying machine it is Mendoza s method to demonstrate to the reader that Onofre has given up on his aspiration of achieving the highest echelons of the social ladder in Spain. Who Is Don Quixote Insane Don Quixote by Cervantes The story of Don Quixote is about an old man named Alonso Quijano, dismayed by the current state of his life who was so into chivalric novels that he became insane and decided that he was a vagrant knight. Quijano renames himself as Don Quixote de La Mancha and decides to win eternal glory through the besting of wrongdoers and general upholding of the Chivalric Code. Though framed in the narrative of the chivalrous stories that so transfixed Quixote. In many ways, Don Quixote is a novel about how Don Quixote perceives the world and about how other characters perceive Don Quixote who often appears to be insane to those around him. Some, such as Quixote s friends the barber and the priest, initially try to persuade Don Quixote out of his knightly delusions. To get Don Quixote to go along with their efforts, however, they must play along with his world, pretending to believe in his wild fantasies. The way that the people around Don Quixote react, and even in some of the actions that he takes himself lies what modern medicine would consider schizophrenic tendencies. ... In the beginning of the novel, Don Quixote seems downright insane, failing to recognize people and objects that should be familiar to him, shamelessly attacking strangers such at the incident in the Inn, and waking up in hallucinatory fits. As the novel progresses, however, this lunacy begins to seem more a matter of Don Quixote s own choosing. Often times his madness translates into the rules of chivalry that he has taken up. In fact Don Quixote s plans often are quite meticulously planned. One such example is when Quixote plans to take penance in the Sierra ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Remains Of The Day Protagonists of novels should be relatable and realistic. They should be individuals with whom readers can easily identify, and consequently should be painted with as much humanity as possible. Mr. Stevens, the protagonist of Kazuo Ishiguro s novel The Remains of the Day, is no exception. He is meant to be an incredibly human character, and consequently it makes sense that the reader should seek to define his flaws and limits, and whether or not he exhibits spiritual imprisonment , as Robert Stone terms it. Of course, it is necessary to identify exactly what spiritual imprisonment is. At its core, spiritual imprisonment can be defined as someone being restricted by someone or something else from pursuing what they value. The character of Stevens that Ishiguro draws in his short narrative, and the personal values that Stevens subtly exhibits, suggest that Stevens, while misguided in his values for a large portion of the book, is free to pursue those values, and consequently is not spiritually imprisoned. Before delving further into an analysis of Ishiguro s protagonist, it is absolutely necessary to identify exactly what Stevens values. He values and meditates on throughout the entirety of the novel dignity. Specifically, Stevens posit[s] that dignity has to do crucially with a butler s ability not to abandon the professional being he inhabits (Ishiguro, 42). Moreover, he reflects that the great butlers are great by virtue of their ability to inhabit their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Cassirer, Nietzsche and NiccolГІ Machiavelli s The Prince... Cassirer, Nietzsche and NiccolГІ Machiavelli s The Prince When the word Renaissance is mentioned, an image of love for antiquity learning and fine arts usually springs to one s mind. Yet this perception, however legitimate it may be in many areas of Renaissance human achievements, shatters in the face of NiccolГІ Machiavelli s masterpiece The Prince. Unlike his contemporary Baldassare Castiglione who exemplified subtlety, Machiavelli was ruthlessly practical, nonchalantly callous, and admirably seamless in his logics about the bloody art of political power. By all accounts The Prince, is a handbook on the acquisition and maintenance of political power. Neither can it be argued any otherwise, like Ernest Cassirer has acknowledged in ... (p164, New Theory of the State ) The keen observer that was Machiavelli merely organized and publicized the thoughts that once were only whispered amongst the political elites. However, while The Prince can hardly be convicted of being a product of malice, what the readers cannot forget is that Machiavelli based his Political Ruler 101 on his fundamental and unshakable personal philosophical conviction that men are inherently self serving. Cassirer recognizes Machiavelli for his cynical side: we shall never understand [man] as long as we are suffering from the illusion of his original goodness (p163, New Theory of the State ). Much like Thomas More who had the fictional More and Raphael Hythloday two halves of his same philosophical self arguing about the practicality of an ideal society in Utopia, Ernest Cassirer attempted to draw a distinction between Machiavelli the idealist who cherished dreams of a Republic and Machiavelli the pragmatist who was necessarily pessimistic about the natures of human and politics alike. The liberal Machiavelli ventured that the aim of the common people is more honest than that of the nobles (p28); while the cynical Machiavelli claimed that any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. (p42) The darker Machiavelli s views are echoed in Fredrich Nietzsche s philosophy. In his Morals as Fossilized Violence , Nietzsche charged that humans at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Essay On Stop And Frisk Gun violence has been a great issue in America throughout the years. Although there are many procedures and regulations that attempt to keep gun control in effect, it has not been enough to completely rid unlawfully owned weapons and its violence. One of these procedures is known as stop and frisk, which means to stop a person and thoroughly pat down their outer clothing if the person is suspected to be armed and dangerous. This procedure is often used by police officers when attempting to confiscate illegal weapons. But many question if stop and frisk alone is an effective and acceptable way in dealing with America s problem of gunviolence. Since problems such as gang violence, assault, robbery, and overall crime usually involving guns are still occurring today, it is believed that stop and frisk isn t an effective... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though it could have some effect, there are many different aspects that should be considered about the stop and frisk procedure. Aspects to consider would be the consistency of stop and frisk, as well as its outcomes, thoughts and views of the civilians, and even the police officers. Changes and additions to the stop and frisk procedure needs to occur if law enforcements wants to rid the streets of illegal weapons. Wilson says in his article, But if we are serious about reducing drive by shootings, fatal gang wars and lethal quarrels in public places, we must get illegal guns off the street. We cannot do this by multiplying the forms one fills out at gun shops or by pretending that guns are not a problem until a criminal uses one (128). Wilson makes a great point in this piece of his article, saying that forms, regulations, and written rules won t effectively stop gun violence, but action will. • 43. The And The Little Difference Within The 20th Century Migration has always been a controversial theme since the early twentieth century not only because of it s complex historical development, but also it is related to and can be influenced by various social issues such as social status, gender, and society s attitude towards immigrants. The aim of this essay is to argue the how the similarities and the little difference within them of the characters in literature play the role in theme of migration. The first similarity is that Antonia and Janie have a same special identity besides their nationalities immigrants. Both two articles portray their youth life, as immigrants, in America. They were depreciated because they are immigrants instead of native Americans. In other words, their youth experience reflects the general Americans attitude towards immigrants at the beginning of The Great Immigration. When Antonia talks to Jim about how her whole family immigrated to America and how her father ended his life because of language barriers, unfamiliar farming skills and more importantly, homesickness, Jim, surprisingly, responds to her: People who don t like this country ought to stay at home, we don t make them come here. After Antonia leaves, he even hopes that snooping girl would never come to see them anymore. Jim, from a child s perspective, his judgement to immigrants can be influenced by his family and the society. O meally suggests that Ellison also incorporates the Blues within his character developments for a very different purpose, other than those of mood and rhythmic sequences. He suggests that Ellison intentionally focuses on the music of Armstrong so as to introduce a concept of materialistic fascination within the narrator. Just as the catchy tunes of the Blues, the narrator too is fascinated by the concepts of equality and justice and is haunted by racial imbalances however, he is simply intrigued by such ideologies but never really tries to divulge his entire aspirations into the cause. He waits for a magical idea, which for him will be the ticket to success and consequently allow him to become visible. He is in many aspects selfish to his own dilemma of invisibility and strives only to be recognized much as the various artists from the Blues era. The narrator s obsession with recognition can be recognized early on in the prologue where he strings 1369 light bulbs in the underground hole just to feel visible. Such a comparable lunacy can be observed in the Blues where many musicians often transcend into another state of consciousness where the singular focus of their cognizance is the beat similar to the narrator s unrealistic obsession with ... • 45. Context, Violence and Leadership in Cormac McCarthy s... Cormac McCarthy s Blood Meridian does a marvelous job of highlighting the violent nature of mankind. The underlying cause of this violent nature can be analyzed from three perspectives, the first being where the occurrence of violence takes place, the second man s need to be led and the way their leader leads them, and lastly whether violence is truly an innate and inherent characteristic in man. Cormac McCarthyonce said, I think the notion that the species can be improved in some way, that everyone can live in harmony is a really dangerous idea. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The question to ask is what caused the West to be such a formidable location? The first theory to explore is that which states the land Blood Meridian took place in, Southwest America and Mexico, caused an absence of responsibility, which then caused the violent acts. In Blood Meridian massacres occur almost daily, yet civilization is neither built up nor hurt because there is no civilization to break down. (Kiefer) At the beginning of the book, The Kid has been brought to Captain White to be interviewed for a spot in the company. Captain White exclaims to the Kid, There is no government in Mexico. Hell, there s no God in Mexico. Never will be. (Blood Meridian 36) While this statement may be the byproduct of racism on Captain White s part, there is no doubt that some part of this statement holds true. • 46. Executive Systems Responsible for Visually Guided Movement Land (2009) suggests that three executive systems are responsible for visually guided movements, namely gaze, vision and action, and these are overseen by a fourth system labelled the schema system. Figure 2.12 is an illustration a particular model that has been developed to explain visually guided movement in natural environments, so it is relevant to sport. Figure 2.12 illustrates the relations of the schema, gaze, visual, a from nd motor systems during the performance of a visually controlled action. (Adapted Land 2009:51 62). The gaze system, consisting of the frontal eye fields is responsible for locating and fixating (targeting) task relevant objects. The visual system, located in the occipital lobe and much of the temporal lobe supplies information to the other two systems, providing feedback as to what is being fixated and directional guidance to the motor system. In this way the eyes act to gather the information necessary for successful performance (Land 2009). In line with this thinking it is generally accepted that eye movements tend to precede motor actions by about one second, this is dependent on the specific task demands (Land Furneaux 1997, Land 2009). It has been identified that the first visible response in visually guided action is usually an eye movement corresponding to the direction and location of some feature important for task execution. The eyes then fixate and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
