In the poem The Iliad, Agamemnon s pride prevents him from being an honorable leader. The Achaeans
take captive two women named Chryseis and Briseis; Agamemnon, the leader of the Achaean army,
takes Chryseis as his prize, and Achilles, the Achaeans greatest warrior, takes Briseis. When Chryseis
father, a priest of Apollo requests Agamemnon to return him his daughter, Agamemnon refuses, and the
priest pleads Apollo, the son of Zeus, to help him. Apollo listens to the priest s prayers and begins a
plague in the Achaean camp which causes many soldiers to die. Eventually, Agamemnon learns that he
has to give up Chryseis for his army to be freed of the plague, but even after receiving this new
information, he grudgingly accepts to send her off in exchange for Briseis. In this poem, Agamemnon s
pride prevents him from being an honorable leader. Although he wishes to maintain his honor,
Agamemnon makes selfish decisions that negatively impact the Achaean army. Chryseis and Briseis are
valued as possessions of pride and honor.
As a leader, Agamemnon has a reputation which lets him feel superior to the soldiers and people around
him. He shows his superiority when the priest begs him for his daughter and brings ransom which
Agamemnon refuses. And all ranks of Achaeans cried out their assent: Respect the priest, accept the
shining ransom! But it brought no joy to the heart of Agamemnon (1.25 27). Though the Achaean
military pleads Agamemnon to accept the priest s offer, Agamemnon is concerned about himself more

The Claimant constantly informed senior management in the respondent organisation of the steps being

grievance letter to the Dean of his School, on the 21/01/08. On the 22/01/08 PD wrote to JD informing

On the 22/01/ 08 JD wrote the Claimant informing him that he had received his formal complaint and
as the Head of School he would take on the task of manager on the grievance.
JD commenced investigating the grievance process on the 24/01/08 by meeting and interviewing all

On 6/03.08 JD sent the Claimant a mail informing the Claimant of his decision not to uphold his
grievance, giving his reasons as well. The Claimant was concerned because some of his grievance was

In the Introduction, author Joseph T. Hallinan introduces the concept of what types of mistakes there are
and then with each chapter, breaks down these mistakes to the root causes by describing the mistake
and how, we as individuals made these mistakes. As the author describes each mistake, it is apparent the
constructed world that we live in, has the ability of covering these mistakes, even when, these mistakes
are in plain view. This oversight, although, is not so uncommon, as our brain seems to make things
clearer and we are able to remember things that never happened, or forget things that did happen, even
though they occurred right in front of us. As he progresses through the book, Hallinan describes human
beings as partial, overoptimistic, hypercritical, downright irrational creatures of habit who are blissfully
unaware of their limitations, which leads people to make many simple and horrible errors.
One such simple type of error that he describes is the word unicorns in the place of unicycles for an

Jackson Epiphenomenal Qualia Analysis
In the essay Epiphenomenal qualia, Jackson introduces the mental experience of qualia as an objection
to physicalism the idea that all true information is physical information. Beyond this conclusion,
Jackson further argues that qualia are epiphenomenal by rebutting three possible responses. I believe
that Jackson s objections are valid but unsound, and that epiphenomenalism of qualia is more plausible
than its counterargument. As for the knowledge argument which proves that physicalism is false, I
agree with Churchland that it is unjustified, but I concur with Jackson s conclusion that physicalism is
false.

conducive to survival or a by product of one that is conducive is false. Producing a by product is a
