- 2. Constructivism Constructivism can best be described that learning is an active and constructive process. Knowledge is constructed based on personal experiences and hypotheses of the environment. Learners continuously test these hypotheses through trials.
- 3. Constructivism As a teacher I want my kids to be involved while I am teaching. I don’t agree that children have complete control of what they take in and learn from their environment. This goes hand and hand with the saying “I’m a product of my environment”.
- 4. Behaviorism Behaviorism is a worldview that assumes a learner is essentially passive, responding to environmental stimuli. The learner starts off as a clean slate and behavior is shaped through positive reinforcement or negative reinforcement.
- 5. Behaviorism I believe that behaviorism is the best learning theory. We can condition students into avoiding bad decisions by enforcing consequences for their actions. The picture is an example of a how to use behaviorism in the classroom.
- 6. Essentialism This can be described as the teaching of basic skills that people need to be a citizen in our society.
- 7. Progressivism This is the theory that is concerned with “learning by doing” and proposes that children learn better when pursuing their own interest and needs.
- 8. The Adult Learning Theory Andragogy- refers to a theory of adult learning that details some of the ways in which adults learn differently than children. For example, adults tend to be more self-directed, internally motivated, and ready to learn unlike children that need to be motivated to learn.
- 9. The Adult Learning Theory Adults have all the essentials such as motivation, experience, readiness, self-directed, orientation, and need to know. Younger children do not have these.
