Respiratory Tract Infections ( Rtis )
Respiratory Tract Infections (RTIs)
The upper respiratory tract consists of the nose, nasal passages, paranasal sinuses, pharynx and part
of the larynx above the vocal cord (Porth, 2011). Common cold (self limiting but can lead to
secondary bacterial infections), sinusitis, otitis media, croup, epiglottis, influenza and scarlet fever
are the most common complication of URI (VanMeter Hubert, 2014). On the other hand, lower
respiratory tract consists of the trachea and the lungs (bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli (Porth,
2011). Lower respiratory tract infection includes bronchiolitis (RSVP), pneumonia, severe acute
respiratory syndrome (SARS), tuberculosis, histoplasmosis and anthrax (VanMeter Hubert, 2014).

Practitioners are inclined to prescribe antibiotic when patients clearly requested it (Llor et al., 2014).
Antibiotics are usually prescribed for non specific upper respiratory tract infection to avoid small
risks for getting worst and becoming bacterial infection. Patients with acute respiratory infection
with antibiotic treatment were not at increased risk for severe adverse effect and had a small
decreased risk of hospitalization due to pneumonia (Meropol, Localio, Metlay, 2013). Similarly,
presence of risk factors such as age 65, COPD, diabetes, heart failure, atherosclerotic heart disease,
asthma, smoking, etc. had similar prescription rate of 62% to those patients without risk factors
(Grover, Mookadam, Rutkowski, Cullan, Hill, Patchett Noble, 2012).
Pathophysiology of Common Cold
The common cold is a self limiting upper respiratory tract infection with sign and symptoms of
nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, sneezing, and cough. It is a viral disease that does not
respond to antibiotic (Zoorob, Sidani, Fremont Kihlberg, 2012). The common culprits that cause the
infections are rhinovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza virus or coronavirus. This virus is usually
spread through droplets via inhalation, aerosol, and secretion on hand or direct contact with
contaminated object. This infection is highly contagious since it produces a large number of
infected nasal mucosa during the first few days and can live for many days outside of a body

Police Canine Police Dogs
Police canine dogs are rapidly becoming a major part of the criminal justice police force. You
may ask yourself why are they becoming such a large part of the operation. This spike in the use
of canine police dogs is the result of many different things. Three of them being the fact that they
can smell extremely well. They also can replace a policeofficer from having to enter a hostile
location. Finally dogs are extremely efficient trackers. This is why i believe dogs are a major asset
to the police force and are inexpendable to the force.
Dogs can smell very well. At first they tested dogs and their ability to smell a few particles per
million, then billion and even trillion and the dog was able to smell the particles and even track the
sent.

Mary Rowlandson Research Paper
Mary White Rowlandson was a colonial American who was held captive by Algonkian Indians
during King Philip s War. She was born in 1637 in Somerset, England. Her parents brought her
along with her nine siblings to the colonies when she was young. Her parents were John and Joan
White and she married Reverend Joseph Rowlandson in 1656. Their first child, Mary, died after
her third birthday and they had three other children named Joseph, Mary, and Sarah. While living
in Lancaster, Massachusetts, a large group of Indians attacked, as well as burned the town. Mary
and her three children were captured along with twenty one others on February 10, 1676 in the
midst of King Philip s war. During this time, her husband was gone to Boston to ask the
Massachussetts General Assembly for military protection against the indians. Her daughter Sarah,
who was six at the time, was fatally wounded a week later and eventually died. While she was
imprisoned, Mary travelled around one hundred and fifty miles. The captives traveled as... Show

they went back to where they had previously lived, Princeton, Massachusetts, they found that
their home had been destroyed, so they relocated to Boston. The Rowlandson s stayed in Boston
a year after they returned but then resettled their lives in Wethersfield, Connecticut in 1677 after
Joseph had accepted a job there. In 1678 Joseph preached a sermon about Mary s captivity that was

Analysis Of Virgin And Child Enthroned By Cimabue
Jeffrey Hinkle
1. The title of the work of art that I have chosen is called the Virgin and Child Enthroned; however,
there are many renditions of this painting with all sorts of names, and the painting that I will be
focusing on is called Santa Trinita MaestГ by Cimabue, who is also known by the name of Cenni
di Pepo. Now, the location of this work of art is at the Uffizi Gallery, which is a major art museum
located in Florence nearby Tuscany, Italy. Likewise, this work of art comes from the Byzantine art
period, so it should come as no surprise that this is a form of Christian art style. Likewise, the
medium for this work of art is Tempera and panel painting because this work of art was painted on
a wood panel with the use of egg yolks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first element of art that is used in this work of art is line, which can be seen throughout the
entire painting. Indeed, the first thing I noticed was variety of lines in this painting; for example,
there are straight vertical and horizontal lines on the throne, curved and organic lines within the
throne and the faces and bodies of the people, and diagonal lines within the border of the
painting. Some of the most interesting lines come in the shape of hair; for example, the beards on
the men have very organic lines that look realistic and full of depth. Now, another element of art
used within this work of art is tone. It seems as though this painting is full of vibrant colors except
for Mary s robes, and the wings on the angels, so this painting was most likely created with few
lines to allow a light and bright tone for the painting. Likewise, another element of art in this
painting is color, which has already been discussed, but it is clear to see that the colors in this
picture are full of richness and saturation, and there are not much dull colors outside of the
clothes on Mary. Also, it does look like there are a few hints of green in the background of the
angel wings, so there was most likely a mixture of colors to create the specific colors in this
painting. A fourth element of art that is prevalent in this painting are shadows and hightlights. In
this painting, it looks as though Cimabue was able to create shadows on the back of the angels with
the vast amounts

Examples Of Patriotism Or Love For Motherland
Patriotism Or, Love for Motherland
Introduction: patriotism is one of the most sterling qualities of human life. Patriotism rouses in him
a feeling of pride and glory.
Home, home, sweet home; there is no place like home.
Utility of patriotism: the utility of patriotism is too much to be described. Islam says Patriotism is a
part of religion . Motherland actually stands next to one s mother. A country cannot achieve her
desired development without the patriotic zeal and sincere participation of her people. Patriotism
inspires a man to shed even the last drop of his blood to defend the freedom and honor of his
country. A people can neither defend their freedom nor resist foreign aggression or free their
country from foreign domination without being inspired by the patriotic feelings. They must
remain ever watchful and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To the end like the glittering stars studded in the sky.
Fate of an unpatriotic: most hatred is the fate of an unpatriotic. A man without patriotism cannot
be called a man in the truest sense of the term. He is worse than a beast. He is said to be a man
with a dead soul. Sir Walter Scott says,
Breathes there the man with soul so dead,
Who has never to himself hath said this is my own, my native land.
He is looked down upon by one and all in the society. He lives a miserable life and dies and
ignoble death. He dies unwept, un honored and unsung. Let me quote the poet,
Living shall forfeit fair renown,
And doubly dying shall go down.
The world history of the unpatriotic persons bears out the fact well. Sirajuddowla, the last
independent nabob of bangle, had to meet with a tragic defeat and death in the battle of Plessey due
to the conspiracy of the traitors like Mirjafar, Umichand and others. But history did not escape
them. They were outright thrown into the dustbins of history. We cannot but hate

states that most e cigarettes are powered by a lithium ion battery which is mostly found in our
cellphones cameras and to our hybrid cars. When you take a puff out of an e cig, some of us just

Dbq on the Usefulness of Torture
The War on Terror has produced several different viewpoints on the utilization of torture and its
effectiveness as a means to elicit information. A main argument has been supplied that torture is
ineffective in its purpose to gather information from the victim. The usefulness of torture has been
questioned because prisoners might use false information to elude their torturers, which has
occurred in previous cases of torture. It has also been supposed that torture is necessary in order to
use the information to save many lives. Torture has been compared to civil disobedience. In
addition, the argument has been raised that torture is immoral and inhumane. Lastly, Some say that
the acts are not even regarded as torture.

between civil disobedience and torture is similar to the viewpoint that torture is necessary in order

There are some that do not constitute the United States treatment of the prisoners at Abu Ghraib and
Guantanamo as torture because there were different definitions of the word. According to the Third
Geneva Convention, torture is defined as acts of violence and any act by which severe pain or
suffering, whether physical or mental is intentionally inflicted. After the September 11, 2001 attack,
the United States changed its definition of torture to physical pain amounting to torture must be
equivalent in intensity to the pain accompanying serious physical injury, such as organ failure,
impairment of bodily function, or even death. To be regarded as torture, the act must cause some
lasting, though not necessarily permanent damage. Some disregard these acts as simply cruel

First Amendment Rights In Schools
Students don t have the same First Amendment rights they have in the public compared to school.
Four major cases were brought to the Supreme Court concerning students First Amendment, Tinker
, Fraser, Hazelwood, and Morse. The First Amendment states that Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the
freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition
the government for a redress of grievances. Only one ruled in favor of the student that being the

I agree with the decision of Tinker because the protest did not interrupt the teachings of the
school. The the majority opinion agrees that if the students First Amendment does not interrupt
the teachings of the school, it s okay. The dissenting opinion by Hugo Black says The truth is
that a teacher of kindergarten, grammar school , or high school pupils no more carries into a
school with him a complete right to freedom of speech and expression that an anti Catholic or
anti Semite carries with him a complete freedom of speech and religion into a Catholic church
or Jewish synagogue . This argument doesn t work because both a place of religion and school
have different purposes. An anti Catholic would interpret the teachings of a Catholic church.
While all that Tinker did was wear a black armband that caused no disturbance in the teachings of
the school. The ruling for Bethel v. Fraser is correct because Frasers use of sexual innuendo was
to a crowd who was unaware. The court ruled, saying A high school assembly or classroom is no
place for a sexually explicit monologue directed towards an unsuspecting audience of teenage
students . I agree with the decision since the audience were not aware of what was going to
happen as. Around 600 14 year olds were present for the speech.

Black people have suffered slavery, oppression, physical and emotional aggression for a long time

Difference Between Hiring A Professional
Graphic Design
Many assume that the only difference between hiring a professional to handle graphic design and
doing the work on their own is the price. Nothing is further from the truth, as the average person
doesn t have the skills needed to create a professional image, one that truly reflects the business
and its values in a positive light. A professional design goes above and beyond attracting the
attention of the viewer. It provides a call to action, encouraging the viewer to purchase the product
or service, yet many don t recognize this. They assume a logo or another design is nothing more
than a symbol of the company, but it is much more, and our designers understand this.
With the help of professional graphic design, companies find it easier to share their message with
the customer. Individuals continue to be bombarded by advertising messages everywhere they
look, and a professional design helps to attract attention in a crowded field while also providing the
customer with information about the company. Although these may not seem of importance to the
average person, technical aspects such as bleeding and cropping do play a role in the customer s
perception of the brand. They don t realize this, but it is truly the case. Our team of graphic
designers is familiar with these and other techniques and use them where appropriate to convey the
desired message.
Most importantly, graphic design involves more than creating a logo. Layout and production design

Nintendo And The Video Game Industry
Over the years, corporations in the video game industry revolutionized the concept of consoles and
videogames through strides of innovation. The videogame entertainment industry is highly
competitive and is largely driven by creativity in the products being created. All throughout the
1980s and 1990s, Nintendoredefined entertainment through its innovative consoles and
videogames. The company had skyrocketing sales. However, as new entrants such as Sony and
Microsoft entered the market, Nintendo was exposed to severe competition. As a result, their sales
and profitability started to plummet as the years progressed. Despite the shifts and changes in
technology and forms of entertainment, Nintendo is adamant about sticking to its videogame
strategy. In order for Nintendo to survive after the emergence of this technological substitution and
be active competitor in the market, the company should license its popular games for use on
smartphones and tablets. Incorporating and licensing popular Nintendo games onto smartphones
and tablets will be much more affordable to consumers who enjoy playing online games as a
form of entertainment. There has been tremendous global growth in owning smartphones and
tablets. This is largely attributed to the product s features where a smartphone or a tablet can
perform an array of tasks. Not only do they provide a lot of perks, they are also easily accessible
and portable. An article on the Market for Computer and Video Games states that

Comparing The Uffizi In Florence And Liverpool s Town Hall
The two building I decided to compare were The Uffizi in Florence and Liverpool s Town Hall.
The Uffizi, built by Alfonso Parigi and Bernardo Buontalenti in 1580 in a pre industrial Florence,
was primarily built to house the offices of thirteen Florentine magistrates and guilds in one place ,
and from this position they would have had authority over the entire Republic of Florence. Whereas
the Town Hall built from 1749 1754, during the industrial revolution, was designed by John
Wood , but was largely rebuilt in the early 19th century, adding a dome and south facing portico
to the existing building. It served a variety of functions, including the Mayor s Courtroom and a
customs warehouse. Since 1952 it has been a grade 1 listed building , referred to as one of the
finest surviving 18th century town halls . Unlike the Uffizi, the Town Hall, only had authority
over the local area and people. However this allowed them to have more control over people s daily
lives. The Uffizi, Florence (2016) Liverpool Town Hall (2016)

problem in our society today. But what is stereotyping? According to the dictionary, stereotypeis

Consequently, in the professional literature, there is a wide gap to be filled in the need for a critical
perspective within the profession. We feel that the important contributions made by outside groups
Gay liberation, the women s movement, mental patients union, trade unions and tenants
associations reflect lack of confidence in social workers, usually with good reasons. It is not
intended to demoralize those social workers who are themselves conditioned and controlled by the

Social Action as a Method of Social Work:
A strategy to obtain limited social change at the intermediate or macro levels of society which is
generally used in non consensus situation and employs both norm adhering and norm testing modes
of intervention. Three concepts are fundamental to this definition: the scope of change, the use of
power in effecting and resisting change, and the change strategies employed (By S.K.Khinduka and

Above definition revealed that social action is used as tool for mobilizing people. And it has the
scope of change within society with respect to a planned strategy. However such a mobilization

Popular Cars Any gearhead knows that not just any car will do for a project. What kind should
be chosen, though? This mainly depends on the person working on the vehicle. For any
newcomer, the range of possible project vehicles can be staggering to approach, for there are many
possibilities for a person to chose. An effective project usually focuses on a tuner car, muscle car, or
sports car. These are the differences between them all. A tuner car is defined as a vehicle that is
easy to modify and has mostly performance oriented modifications. Many of these vehicles are
sedans, or four door vehicles. They can be anywhere from small to medium in size and take to
forms of traditional sedans, mass produced coupes, and hatchbacks. This is the broadest of all of

African-American Independent Filmmaking History
Something I found interesting about the lecture on African American Independent Filmmaking
History, from 1915 to 1950, is how many African Americans went to entertain in the North after
the Civil War. If I had gone north, I would have wanted to be out of the spotlight. It is already
horrible enough African Americans had been in chains for so many years. Why would freedmen
go onstage and make fun of it when nothing about slavery is funny? Slavery should indeed be
addressed this country was built on immigration and slavery however, it should not be ridiculed.
Yet entertainers went onstage to make fun of themselves and of their ancestors, and everyone who
died so that they could live in freedom.
Before the Civil War, slave owners would claim... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most film portrayals I have seen, most famously Birth of a Nation, show African Americans as
lustful, lazy, violent, and unintelligent. In fact, in D. W. Griffith s entirely racist Birth of a Nation,
African Americans in the film, played by actors in blackface, continuously disrupt the peaceful
nostalgic way of life of the south after the war. Eventually, filmmakers such as Oscar Micheaux,
W. E. B. Dubois, Herb Jeffries, and Lorenzo Tucker sought to put an end to the racist films by
making race films where African Americans acted in, wrote, shot and directed their own films.
However, this wasn t enough. Some race films reverted back to racist films, where African
Americans were making fun of themselves, just to turn a profit. I liked The Cabinet of Dr.
Caligari. It reminded me of some of my favorite Tim Burton films. Burton s style is gothic and
sometimes mind bending. This makes him one of my favorite directors. His films, like Edward
Scissorhands (1990), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), and Dark
Shadows (2012), make me unsure of who to root for at times. And one of his first films, Vincent

(Hayter, 2011)Indeed workers have had very few rights, although China in response to adverse
publicity have introduced some minimum labour laws (Hollingshead, 2010)
The Scandinavian approach embraced by Sweden is strongly Pluralist (Hollingshead, 2010) which
guarantees freedom of association and is backed by the Swedish constitution. Additionally
collective bargaining agreements play a major role in the employment relationship, with trade
unions enjoying a very strong voice in Sweden (Xpert HR, 2014). In comparison to the UK,
Sweden takes its workers rights very seriously and many employee benefits are legally enforceable,
this along with laws protecting the rights of trade union members provide significant security and
benefits for workers (Work.Sweden.Se, 2014). Additionally Sweden has extremely centralised and
organised trade Union organisations with a particularly high level of union density, its highly
egalitarian society having low levels of economic inequality but with high levels of state
expenditure. (Upchurch et al, 2009). Mutual respect is the norm between trade unions and
employers and with close links with political parties, however rigid labour laws can inhibit Foreign
Investment. (State.Gov, 2012)
On the other hand, the UK adopts a voluntarist approach to employment regulation and avoids
direct intervention in employment relations, unlike Sweden, trade unions no longer

Modern Music During The Baroque Era
The term Baroque has been widely acknowledged as a period in Western European Art Music
lasting for 150 years from early 17th to mid 18th century. The word itself is originated from
barroco in Portuguese meaning oddly shaped pearl , which best describes the visual and details of
the buildings existed during that period. Its flamboyant and ornate details of the building is what
causes ornamentations and harpsichords to become an essential element of Baroque music. Bach,
ornamentation, and harpsichord are few of the most recognisable elements of Western Art music
during the Baroque period. Nonetheless, we all came to a second realisation that the Baroque era
lasted for more than 150 years, meaning that it has its own remarkable history and... Show more

S. Bach, G. F. Handel, and Domenico Scarlatti. Antonio Vivaldi, Claudio Monteverdi, Couperin,
Jean Phillippe Rameau and Jean Baptiste Lully are other popular names in the Baroque era. Each
composer specialises in different instrument compositions and techniques. Out of all the names
mentioned, J. S. Bach remains to this day, one the greatest composers of both the Baroque era
and all time. Each of these composers specialise in different areas or compositions and
instruments. Working extensively with keyboard instruments such as the organ and harpsichord, a
few of J. S. Bach s well known compositions include his Brandenburg Concertos, Goldberg
Variations, and St. Matthew s Passion. G. F. Handel himself composed Italian operas, oratorios,
anthems, and organ concertos. His most popular work of all time is the Hallelujah chorus from
the oratorio Messiah, which went on to become the most popular Baroque work and considered as
a choice of piece often performed in Christmas time. Domenico Scarlatti on the other hand
composed in a number of musical forms, but is best known for composing 555 keyboard sonatas.
As a major instrument of the Baroque era, the harpsichord has parallel strings used for the players
to pluck in order to produce sound. This instrument is highly used and heard in compositions such
as J. S. Bach s toccatas and Domenico Scarlatti s piano sonatas. Unlike the modern piano, the
harpsichord has no pedals so it is

Patchwork Personal Statement
Walk into any room, my friends jokingly encourage me, and then introduce us to everyone. Their
regard for my capabilities of befriending strangers is kind and inflated, but within their humor
lies a granule of truth. My patchwork history provides me with a basis for connecting with
people of all stripes. Growing up in a Navy family, I have moved around the country extensively.
With such a background, it is not hard to find similarities with people I meet or quickly learn their
customs and methods of communicating. And with such a transient youth, obtaining that skillset
was a matter of self preservation. Based on my research, it is important for lawyers to quickly
understand different perspectives and motivations of clients and opponents. With this
understanding, the lawyer can then develop a solution that addresses concerns of both the client
and opposing parties. I believe the skills I ve developed growing up in a military family will prove
helpful in my career as a lawyer.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Internal Analysis of the Disney Company
Internal Analysis
The financial ratio analysis of a company is a useful indicator to measure the success of a company.
By comparing financial ratios between companies in the same industry (competitors) it is a useful
way for investors and shareholders to determine the financial health and/or the sustainability of a
company. Disney s main competitors within the industry include Time Warner and 21st Century
Fox. There are five key areas of comparison that provide excellent financial analysis of a company.
They are short term solvency, long term solvency, asset management, profitability, and market value.
Liquidity Ratio
The short term solvency ratio is a measurement used to measure how well a company is able to
meet debt obligations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For 2013 Fox had the highest ROE, which was 35.05. However Disney has been consistent over
the past three years with a ROE around 14, whereas Fox s ROE is much more volatile (jumping
up to 35.05 in 2013 from 4.34 in 2012). Disney s ROE is therefore the more reliable and better
indicator of the company s continued growth and profitability.
Market Value Ratio
Market value ratios are probably the most important ratios for any publicly traded company; it s
an indicator of how well the company is perceived as a whole. It reflexes how investors view the
future performance and risks of the company. One such market value ratio that is used
commonly is the cash flow per share ratio. This ratio is measured by taking the operating cash
flow preferred dividends divided by the common shares outstanding. This ratio is more reliable
than the EPS or earnings per share ratio because it is less likely to be manipulated. Because of
this the cash flow per share ratio is judged to be a better indicator of a company s strength and
position within the market. For 2013 Disney had the highest cash flow per share ratio amongst its
competitors which was valued at 5.29. This was slightly better than Time Warner s which was 4.04
and was significantly better than Fox s 1.28.
Overall Disney is in a better financial position than its competitors Time Warner and Fox. Disney s
financial ratios have been rising at a pretty consistent rate which shows Disney s stability and

Fight For Independence
When the Americans began to fight, they started to believe that they were not actually fighting for
independence; they thought they were fighting for a cure for the objections toward the British
Empire. Throughout the first year of fighting, although, many colonists changed their minds and
understood that they were, indeed, fighting for independence. Many colonists were furious when
the British tried to recruit Indians, African slaves, and German mercenaries. When the British
government blocked colonial ports and rejected all efforts at conciliation, majority of the colonists
decided that independence was the only remaining choice. Thomas Paine clarified these feelings of
the colonists in his pamphlet, Common Sense. Common Sense was a 50 page

How Technology Change Over The Years And How Computers...
In today s society almost every information is just one click away. We have the freedom to search
anything we want to, whether that s on the go or just being bored to satisfy our needs. With the
technology we have like smart phones. Individuals now have the freedom to do anything on
their phones. Such as, take high quality pictures and videos, send e mails, play music, news
alerts, and most importantly having built in maps on our phones. It is really helpful especially
with these features when we are on the go. It is really surprising how technology change over
the years and how computers became handheld phones. We are absolutely living in the data age
with innovation that is only a couple of years was unimaginable. However, there are so many
things concerning with smart phones the most talked about right now is addictiveness. Now,
individuals of the world have this type of habit. Spending hours not putting them down, which
can lead to many other habits, for example texting while driving and many other things that I will
touch upon. Individuals also rely to mostly everything on smart phones. It has been said that if
we forget our phones we forget our brains too. Many individuals do not understand how this is
concerning. The reason for this paper is to help other people understand how smart phones change
society. Will it do more good or will it do worse? I argue the negative and positives of using a
smart phone. Also, comprehend the effects of using a smart phone and how

Melanoma Research Paper
Melanoma
Melanoma is a very serious type of skin cancer and can be extremely dangerous if it s not taken
care of properly. Melanoma usually develops in the melanocyte cells when the skin has been
exposed to ultraviolet radiation from tanning beds or from being outside in the direct sunlight for
too long or over a long period of time. When unrepaired skin DNA becomes too damaged, it can
trigger a mutation in the cells which leads to the skin cells to rapidly multiply, turning into the
cancerous growths. In some cases, melanoma can form in the eyes, nose, mouth, genitals and, in
rare situations, form in the intestines (Mayo Clinic).

Skin cells normally push the new healthy cells toward the top to replace the old cells that need to
be replaced but, in some cases, when the cell DNA is too damaged then the new skin cells start to
grow rapidly which turn into cancerous growths. Doctors believe that the main lead cause of
melanoma is too much exposure to UV rays that comes mostly from sunlight and tanning beds
(Cancer Research UK). The Melanoma Research Foundation says that, approximately 90% of
melanoma cases can be linked to exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays... Having blistering sunburns
during early childhood can increase the chances of getting melanoma, along with getting
sunburns and excessive exposure later in life can increase risks as well. According to the Skin
Cancer Foundation, people who live in places that have more sunlight like Florida, Arizona and
California have a higher chance of getting skin cancer. Lighter skinned people who live in the
colder northern states can also get skin cancer and some locations actually have a higher number of
skin cancer patients. The healthy amount of exposure to the sun is about 20 minutes to be able to

Advantages Of Zoos
Animals are everywhere. Even if you don t notice them, they are there. Animals are very popular
and one of the reasons why they are beloved is because of zoos. Zoos are great places for animals
to live and a great place for people to learn. Zoos allow kids and adults to explore the little world of
creatures that live a similar life. Zoos are a lot safer placefor the animals to live than the woodsor the

animals habitats the animals think that it is a special food delivery and try to eat your trash, now
that can cause health problems for the port little animals now do you want that, probably not. and

Forshadowing In Jack London s To Build A Fire
Some stories can have an emotional impact on readers, but every so often a story will reach out
and help the reader escape into it. Jack London s To Build a Fire is a fascinating story with a
remarkably well described setting, and geographical descriptions of the surrounding Yukon areas. It
portrays an overconfident man, whom because of his lack of intuition and stubbornness, succumbs
to natures unforgiving climate.
Claim 1: In 1897 London and his brother in law, Captain James Shepard joined the Klondike Gold
Rush. He used this experience to describe the settings of some of his first successful writings.
His time spent in the Klondike was very harmful to his health. Like many other men working in
the harsh conditions, London was malnourished in the goldfields, and he developed scurvy. He
lost four of his front teeth and he was plagued by constant pain in his hips and legs. His face was
scared by the rigid work he endured, and these hard ships inspired London to write his short story,
To Build a Fire . London s exceptional use of foreshadowing in the title and within the first
couple of lines of his story tells the reader that the character of the story will come into hardship,
his use of foreshadowing is expressed within the first sentence of his story, There was no sun or
promise of sun, although there was not a cloud in the sky. It was a clear day. However, there
seemed to be an indescribable darkness over the face of things. (London) of not traveling alone.

The Golden Age Of Islamic Thought And Its Cultural Impact...
Growing up I always wondered what was going on before the year 2,000. What about year

allowance of intellectual thinking. The sad thing being people were really dictating the way you

always wondered about. Although Islam has clearly had a significant influence on Europe,
Europeans denied this fact, their invents, thoughts, and ideas even being seemingly relevant all
while their society was highly influenced by said denied facts.
The historians and philosophers from Europe have denied Islam the credit that it really deserves for
the development of modern culture. One thing that is stupidly ignored is their impact on
mathematics. In today s modern word there is more math than you could ever imagine, very
difficult math at that. None of this would have truly been possible if it wasn t for Islam s
contributions but Europe will always turn their heads to this fact. The common European ego is
too large to simply give credit where credit is due (Something that Islam never had a problem
doing). Europeans would rather deny the facts than put their pride aside and realize that it is

Persuasive Essay On Childhood Obesity
A Deeper Look into Childhood Obesity The percentage of children with obesity in the United
States has more than tripled since the 1970s ( Healthy Schools. ). Childhood obesity is a
medical condition that affects children and teenagers who contain excess body fat. This
condition is very common today, having about 3 million cases per year ( Healthy Schools. ). A
sign that a child is suffering from obesity is when their weight is well above the average for a
child s height and age. Today about one in five school children, ages 6 19, are obese ( Healthy
Schools. ). I will be addressing the causes, health complications, treatments, controversy, and
supporting obese students. First and foremost, the most common causes of childhood obesity
are genetic factors, overeating, and not exercising enough. Although obesity may run in a
family, it does not determine whether a child will be obese or not ( Obesity in Children ). If a
child who comes from a family of obesity, happens to become overweight like them, the likely
cause is due to bad eating and activity habits. Many children today spend more time inside the
house eating and watching television, rather than being active outdoors ( Obesity in Children ).
This is due to the recent popularity of having electronics such as television, games, and phones
serve as entertainment. Another reason for the excessive eating is because parents are often too
busy to cook healthy foods on a regular basis, leaving children to rely on fast food or

Schell S Zero Homeless Family Strategy
Background Homelessness is a societal issues caused from deinstitutionalization, mental illness,
changes in the family structure, economics, violence, and personal crisis. Homelessness is not a
local problem; it is a national (and international) public health crisis. Most statistics show, in fact,
that there are about 8 10,000 individuals living in Seattle (King County) without shelter each and
every night. This may, in fact, be a low estimate, since it is based on one night only, and does not
county every area of the County (Heim, 2009). Within the Greater Seattle Area, many homeless
have chronic health issues. Diabetes is common, often based on alcohol or substance abuse, and
over half have some form of cardiovascular disease, 25% mental health issues. Many have
developmental disabilities, and at least 10% HIV. In 2008, the records reported show that there
were over 100 attacks on the homeless, almost 30 fatal, based on race, religion, or sexual
orientation, causing the Seattle City Council to pass a measure indicating that harassing a homeless
person is a hate crime (Ten Year Plan, 2011).
Part 1 Policy Choices Seattle Mayor Paul Schell had a variety of options that were possible
mitigating factors in addressing homelessness in Seattle. The King County Community
Homelessness Advisory Council had already developed strategies that Scholl could use to combat
the problem. For example, the City could improve maintenance, but not increase the existing shelter

Integration Of Media And Digital Media
Integration can be viewed from five aspects. The first aspect involves the integration of media
which comprises a mix of traditional media and digital media. The second integration is based on
the communication methods; these are the promotional methods used and include the traditional
methods, digital methods and word of mouth interactions and communications. The third
integration is based on the time the communicationhappens and interaction possibilities. This
further accounts for static and dynamic communications. The fourth integration seeks to explain the
actors and their roles in the IMC process, these actors are the consumers as well as the
organizations. The fifth integration is based on content creation, seeks to explain that IMC is based
on communications which are consumer generated versus marketingcontent created by the
organizations.

The U.S. Constitution is supposed to guarantee the protection of those rights. This is why we go
through countless lengths of looking for evidence and testimonies in our courts of law. Regardless
of who the person is or what they may have done, discretion should always be used because the
evidence will in many cases set the path for the sentence. If all the components are brought properly
to the case, then the investigations should work accordingly and as follows from courts to
sentencing. Nevertheless, those that are given a guilty verdict are not always the truly guilty
defendants, many innocent people have been led to prison and there is where their nightmare begins

When an innocent individual is incarcerated, it is an injustice to the individual being sentenced, the

How Does Priestley Present The Inspector In An Inspector...
JB Priestly (1894 1984) wrote An Inspector Calls after the First World War (it was first
performed in 1945); like much of his work, the play contains controversial, politically charged
messages. Priestly was a resolute socialist and had very socialist views. This essay will explore
some of the techniques Priestly uses to present the Inspector.
The Inspector as soon as he is introduced has authority and is commanding of the situation. You can
see this from the following quote, at once an impression of massiveness, solidity and
purposefulness . The quote shows that, the Inspector is probably confident and will be motivated to
do the tasks set for him/the tasks he has set for himself. Not only the family has an impression on

Priestly presents the Inspector as a strong believer in socialism, meaning that he greatly cares for
his fellow citizens and believes that everyone should be treated equally and fairly. You can see this
towards the end of the play when the Inspector makes a speech, which outlines his political
views. He says that we should look after each other and stop thinking about ourselves so much,
We don t live alone. We are members of one body. We are responsible for each other. This just
shows how extreme his belief in socialism is and how he thinks people should live. We know
that, Priestly also had socialist opinions, very similar to those of the Inspector. So you may say
that, Priestly used the inspector as a mouthpiece to deliver his left wing views and his ideas on
society at that time. However, you could think that the Inspector wasn t strictly socialist; he just
thinks that people no matter what their social class should be treated fairly ( I don t think this).
In my opinion, most of the audience would think of the Inspector as a socialist due to his
obvious beliefs and speech at the end of the play. They d probably agree with what he says and
also think that the Birling family was wrong to do and think the way they did. This would result in
them possibly thinking that capitalism is wrong. The audience might develop socialist views as a
result of agreeing with the Inspector; the 1945 viewers may realise that the rigid

price fluctuated within 10 cents for quite a long time, so I chose to sell(buy) it at the
higher(lower) price and then to buy(sell) it at the relative lower (higher)price to make a small
profit. In session 2, I made a loss based on my wrong expectation so I should take a bit more risk to
recover my losses in later sessions. For example, If I short many contracts but the market is going
up and the basis is widening, then I need to buy the contracts to close my position as soon as
possible, at the same time, I will long more contracts and sell them when the market go further high
to cover my losses and make profits.
In Game 3, I would be riskier to make profit. I take a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I made the trade in every session to catch the opportunity for profits. The main thing is that I
want big profit, which means I should focus on a long term position and increase my trade size
as well. In facts, If I see the basis keeps widening because the decrease of spot price is larger than
the decrease of future price, I will sell the contracts right away. However, it is not serious if I
make a loss just because of the fluctuation of future price, what I can do is to wait next session
begin and buy the contracts to close my position when the market falls further based on my right

Chem 112 Technical Abstract
Determination of Cations and Anions through Elimination and Confirmation Tests By: Symantha
Resendiz Introduction A topic of great importance to all scientists is the identification of
compounds, which is relevant in all aspects of their work in some way shape or form. Weather it
may be determining what is causing sickness or what is polluting the air, it is very prevalent in the
science world. In project 2, identification of cations and anions was preformed through a series of
confirmation and elimination tests that ultimately led to identifying an unknown ionic compound
made of cations and anions. Materials and Methods Part 1 Cation Tests To begin, 5 centrifuge
tubes were added 10 drops of one cation and labeled... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mixture was then transferred to a clean centrifuge tube via pipet, carefully not wetting the
upper walls of the tube. Zinc granules were then added and the tube was immediately plugged
with cotton 1/3 of the way into the tube. The tube was then warmed in a hot water bath for about
5 minutes, the folded red litmus paper was inserted at the top of the tube with a wet crease. After
a few minutes, nitrate is indicated on the wet crease of the litmus paper, turning it blue. For the
Carbonate test, 25 mg of carbonate sample was added to a centrifuge tube and 3 drops of 6 M
H2SO4 was added. A disposable pipet was used to transfer a drop of Ba(OH)2, that hung directly
from the pipet over the carbonate solution, and the observations of the drop were recorded. Part
3 Cation and Anion Analysis For the cation analysis, 0.566 g of an unknown compound was
dissolved completely in 5mL of distilled water in a centrifuge tube, thus confirming this solution
as a stock solution. A flame test was performed on the stock solution to give a general idea of
what test was to e preformed on the stock solution deriving the information from our logic trees
in part 1. The logic tree from part 1 and the flame test confirmed that we needed to conduct an
ammonia test on the stock solution. To being the ammonia test, 15 M NH4OH was added drop
wise (about 20 drops) to the stock and the color of the solution and the color of the solution was
recorded. 10 more drops of 15 M NH4OH

Character Analysis Of Holden Caulfield In The Catcher In...
Friendships are like goals; they are easy to make but difficult to keep. J.D Salinger s character
Holden Caulfield from The Catcher in the Rye is a lonesome sixteen year old. Salinger s novel
follows the story of Holden as he tries to rescue children s innocence from being lost to the
crippling world of adulthood. Although he perceives his friends as fake, Holden tries to flatter
his roommate Stradlater and old friend Sally Hayes into becoming a person like Jane Gallagher:
someone that will listen to him. Ward Stradlater is Holden s smug roommate at Pencey Prep.
Conceited yet friendly, Holden often dismisses his roommate s phoniness because Stradlater is
capable of having a little intelligent conversation with Holden. While tap dancing, Holden jokes,
I m the goddamn Governor s son (Salinger, 34). Stradlater laughs, proving that he can understand
Holden s unique sense of humor. Only around Stradlater, Mr. Antolini and Phoebe, does Holden
ever expose his aloof side, as he knows that they will be able to appreciate Holden s wit.
Contrarily, Holden reigns a superior attitude over those he does not think are intelligent, such as
his next door neighbor, Robert Ackley. However, the approachable behavior Stradlater exhibits
causes Holden to seek more of his attention. For instance, he decides to write Stradlater s English
composition. Before agreeing to the task, a shocked Holden marvels, I m the one that s flunking
out of the goddamn place, and you re asking me to write you a goddamn composition (Salinger,
32). Afterwards, Holden asks Stradlater about what he should write his assignment on; this
indicates that Holden does not care if he writes Stradlater a faulty paper, he just wants to charm
him. Moreover, Holden later wonders, I wished I knew who d swiped my gloves at Pencey,
because my hands were freezing (Salinger, 99). Evidently, Holden does not appreciate lending his
clothes or doing anyone favors, yet he is incredibly generous with Stradlater. Holden gives
Stradlater his hound s tooth jacket despite knowing that Stradlater will stretch it and then even
writes his English composition. Satisfying Stradlater gains Holden his roommate s company, as a
like minded individual s presence, is what Holder

Case Study Of Jamison s Bipolar Disorder
I believe that Jamison has bipolar type 1 disorder based on her symptoms and experiences. In
her very first manic episode, Jamison displayed 5 of the 7 possible symptoms, accompanied by
an abnormal increase in energy, for a manic episode found in the DSM 5: inflated self esteem,
decreased need for sleep, extreme talkativeness, racing thoughts with flight of ideas, and excessive
involvement in activities. The DSM 5 requires either elevated mood or increased energy with at
least 3 or more symptoms so it is clear that Jamison meets the criteria for maniain this episode. Her
other manic episodes, described above, display all symptoms of bipolar disorder and impair her
social, cognitive, and occupational functioning. In her first depressive episode

The Effects Of Obesity On The American Population
Obesity has substantially increased in the American population, affecting both adults and
children. According to the Mayo Clinic, the definition of obesity is defined as a condition of
increased body weight that is caused by an excessive accumulation of fat. Many factors
contribute to weight gain such as the two important ones, poor diet and physical inactivity. As
people are exposed to high fat foods and have very low physical activity, it s so easy for that
person to become overweight or obese. As in today s society children tend to overeat, many
changes in a child s life are the reason why there is an increase in overeating. The place where
children should be fed healthy and should influence them to eat healthy is actually where the
problem starts. School cafeterias have been known to serve food with large fat content and low
nutrition. School cafeterias even supply students with soda and candy machines (Kempster, 2004).
According to a study done by King et al. (1999) has shown that fruits and raw vegetables given in
school cafeterias has decreased substantially. Instead they provide unhealthy meals for these
children like, pizza, tater tots, and many other numerous high level fat foods. At school children
should have the access to eat healthy, however they are exposed to fast food choices everyday,
making it difficult to support healthy eating (Kuntzman, 2004). The lack of physical activity is
another major factor in the cause of childhood obesity. Due to the increase

The Polynesian migrations were a good example of human beings using their knowledge,

the Pacific Ocean and spread to so many islands around the Ocean. They might had contact with

The Swing Portrays by Jean-HonorГ© Fragonard
Jean HonorГ© Fragonard created The Swing in 1766 with oil paints on a 2 8.6 by 2 2 canvas. It
is located in London, England in the Wallace Collection. During the time this work was created,
France was an aristocracy and The Swing portrays a glimpse of the luxurious life of the ruling
class. King Louis XV ruled during a time when France was the most prosperous and powerful
country in all of Europe. Through the influence of Madame de Pompadour, the arts prospered
during this time. In the 18th century during King Louis reign the arts seemed to consume the
thoughts of not only the artists themselves but also the King and other wealthy and influential
members of society. This in turn resulted in neglect of the undertakings of the state, which had its
consequences. In 1789, the bloody French Revolution took place and soon after, the fall of the
monarchy. The Swing is undoubtedly the most famous of all Fragonard s compositions. It
epitomizes the Rococo style of the 18th century with tranquil colors and gentle light, exaggerated
diagonals, decorations, and nature. . The libertine Baron de St. Julien commissioned this piece. He
ordered that Fragonard paint the bishop pushing his Madame on a swing. Fragonard painted for
the baron de Saint Julien his first great masterpiece and from then on he knew that for the rest of
his life he would paint for people of wealth. He painted for many individuals including the king
because his talent was something that everyone desired. The

The language paper
Language is one of the most powerful mediums in the human world, and not only can language
be expressed through words, but also visually and musically. Language is everything from words
that are spoken and the silence that lies between one phrase and the next. I find out odd how in
our culture, we try to label things black and white. It s either this or it s that, yet when there s
something lacking in language, we try to assign colors to it instead of letting things be how they
are. I have two types of mediums that I feel shows the idea that things are visually and audibly
black and white, but it s difficult to leave it at that.
The first medium I chose is in fact a color picture, but what makes it similar ... Show more content

I must have spent a total of 10 minutes looking at that picture, even though there isn t much to it.
Even though it is a color picture, there isn t too much color associated with it. The overall
language that I get from this picture is pain. This is a really difficult picture to talk about
especially because it s a picture of me, but I think it became easier to talk about it and its
language because I didn t remember when the picture was taken. I also asked a few of my peers
to give me their overall impression of the picture and it was exactly the same as my impression of
the picture. They glanced at it then glanced at it again, noticing me off center. Then they spent a
few good moments looking at my expression and body language.
The second medium that I chose is a song by Sarah McLachlan. The song is called Angel . It is a
fairly simple song consisting of only a piano and her singing. There is no real intricate beats or
rhythms, and the song is really clear. Anytime I listen to it, I have to listen to it maybe three or
four times just to get the feel of it. I would categorize this song as black and white, but I find
myself trying to assign colors to the song, as well as texture and smell. From listening to the song,
I get the image of a rainy day towards the beginning, then the rainy day gradually changing to the
sun breaking through the clouds. When she starts singing the chorus, I feel like rays from the sun
are starting to break through

The Life Of Henrietta Lacks
What exactly is Public Health? Public Health entails generating facts about the health status of a
population. The population can be a community, a class or group of people, i.e., Male, Female,
White, Hispanic, African American, wealthy or not, and/or any of the above. Once facts are known
empirically, steps to improve the health status of that group can be designed, tested and ultimately
rolled out on a larger scale. In the novel The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, there are multiple
topics relating to Public Health policies (laws), research and education that are discussed and
argued. Eventually, this changed Health Care into what it is to date. Throughout decades, without
her knowledge, and with the use of her immortal, reproducing cancercell line known as HeLacells,
Henrietta Lacks along with various doctors and researchers changed the face of Public Health
policy, research and education. The use of her cancer cells and the outcomes of various
experiments and studies has been debated for a long time and causes people to question moral,
religious and ethical factors.
Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman during the segregation era in the 1950s, whose
life was changed by a quarter size knot in her cervix. Assuming something was wrong with her
body, Henrietta took a trip to visit a local Gynecologist, Dr. George Gey, in hopes of finding out
what this knot could be. After having her infected and healthy cells taken and tested for what Gey
believed was

  • 2. Respiratory Tract Infections ( Rtis ) Respiratory Tract Infections (RTIs) The upper respiratory tract consists of the nose, nasal passages, paranasal sinuses, pharynx and part of the larynx above the vocal cord (Porth, 2011). Common cold (self limiting but can lead to secondary bacterial infections), sinusitis, otitis media, croup, epiglottis, influenza and scarlet fever are the most common complication of URI (VanMeter Hubert, 2014). On the other hand, lower respiratory tract consists of the trachea and the lungs (bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli (Porth, 2011). Lower respiratory tract infection includes bronchiolitis (RSVP), pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), tuberculosis, histoplasmosis and anthrax (VanMeter Hubert, 2014). Upper respiratory infection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Practitioners are inclined to prescribe antibiotic when patients clearly requested it (Llor et al., 2014). Antibiotics are usually prescribed for non specific upper respiratory tract infection to avoid small risks for getting worst and becoming bacterial infection. Patients with acute respiratory infection with antibiotic treatment were not at increased risk for severe adverse effect and had a small decreased risk of hospitalization due to pneumonia (Meropol, Localio, Metlay, 2013). Similarly, presence of risk factors such as age 65, COPD, diabetes, heart failure, atherosclerotic heart disease, asthma, smoking, etc. had similar prescription rate of 62% to those patients without risk factors (Grover, Mookadam, Rutkowski, Cullan, Hill, Patchett Noble, 2012). Pathophysiology of Common Cold The common cold is a self limiting upper respiratory tract infection with sign and symptoms of nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, sneezing, and cough. It is a viral disease that does not respond to antibiotic (Zoorob, Sidani, Fremont Kihlberg, 2012). The common culprits that cause the infections are rhinovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza virus or coronavirus. This virus is usually spread through droplets via inhalation, aerosol, and secretion on hand or direct contact with contaminated object. This infection is highly contagious since it produces a large number of infected nasal mucosa during the first few days and can live for many days outside of a body ... You may ask yourself why are they becoming such a large part of the operation. This spike in the use of canine police dogs is the result of many different things. Three of them being the fact that they can smell extremely well. They also can replace a policeofficer from having to enter a hostile location. Finally dogs are extremely efficient trackers. This is why i believe dogs are a major asset to the police force and are inexpendable to the force. Dogs can smell very well. At first they tested dogs and their ability to smell a few particles per million, then billion and even trillion and the dog was able to smell the particles and even track the sent. ... • 4. Mary Rowlandson Research Paper Mary White Rowlandson was a colonial American who was held captive by Algonkian Indians during King Philip s War. She was born in 1637 in Somerset, England. Her parents brought her along with her nine siblings to the colonies when she was young. Her parents were John and Joan White and she married Reverend Joseph Rowlandson in 1656. Their first child, Mary, died after her third birthday and they had three other children named Joseph, Mary, and Sarah. While living in Lancaster, Massachusetts, a large group of Indians attacked, as well as burned the town. Mary and her three children were captured along with twenty one others on February 10, 1676 in the midst of King Philip s war. During this time, her husband was gone to Boston to ask the Massachussetts General Assembly for military protection against the indians. Her daughter Sarah, who was six at the time, was fatally wounded a week later and eventually died. While she was imprisoned, Mary travelled around one hundred and fifty miles. When they went back to where they had previously lived, Princeton, Massachusetts, they found that their home had been destroyed, so they relocated to Boston. The Rowlandson s stayed in Boston a year after they returned but then resettled their lives in Wethersfield, Connecticut in 1677 after Joseph had accepted a job there. • 5. Analysis Of Virgin And Child Enthroned By Cimabue Jeffrey Hinkle 1. The title of the work of art that I have chosen is called the Virgin and Child Enthroned; however, there are many renditions of this painting with all sorts of names, and the painting that I will be focusing on is called Santa Trinita MaestГ by Cimabue, who is also known by the name of Cenni di Pepo. Now, the location of this work of art is at the Uffizi Gallery, which is a major art museum located in Florence nearby Tuscany, Italy. Likewise, this work of art comes from the Byzantine art period, so it should come as no surprise that this is a form of Christian art style. Likewise, the medium for this work of art is Tempera and panel painting because this work of art was painted on a wood panel with the use of egg yolks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first element of art that is used in this work of art is line, which can be seen throughout the entire painting. Indeed, the first thing I noticed was variety of lines in this painting; for example, there are straight vertical and horizontal lines on the throne, curved and organic lines within the throne and the faces and bodies of the people, and diagonal lines within the border of the painting. Some of the most interesting lines come in the shape of hair; for example, the beards on the men have very organic lines that look realistic and full of depth. Now, another element of art used within this work of art is tone. It seems as though this painting is full of vibrant colors except for Mary s robes, and the wings on the angels, so this painting was most likely created with few lines to allow a light and bright tone for the painting. Likewise, another element of art in this painting is color, which has already been discussed, but it is clear to see that the colors in this picture are full of richness and saturation, and there are not much dull colors outside of the clothes on Mary. Also, it does look like there are a few hints of green in the background of the angel wings, so there was most likely a mixture of colors to create the specific colors in this painting. A fourth element of art that is prevalent in this painting are shadows and hightlights. In this painting, it looks as though Cimabue was able to create shadows on the back of the angels with the vast amounts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Patriotism rouses in him a feeling of pride and glory. Home, home, sweet home; there is no place like home. Utility of patriotism: the utility of patriotism is too much to be described. Islam says Patriotism is a part of religion . Motherland actually stands next to one s mother. A country cannot achieve her desired development without the patriotic zeal and sincere participation of her people. Patriotism inspires a man to shed even the last drop of his blood to defend the freedom and honor of his country. Fate of an unpatriotic: most hatred is the fate of an unpatriotic. A man without patriotism cannot be called a man in the truest sense of the term. He is worse than a beast. He is said to be a man with a dead soul. Sir Walter Scott says, Breathes there the man with soul so dead, Who has never to himself hath said this is my own, my native land. He is looked down upon by one and all in the society. He lives a miserable life and dies and ignoble death. He dies unwept, un honored and unsung. Let me quote the poet, Living shall forfeit fair renown, And doubly dying shall go down. The world history of the unpatriotic persons bears out the fact well. Sirajuddowla, the last independent nabob of bangle, had to meet with a tragic defeat and death in the battle of Plessey due to the conspiracy of the traitors like Mirjafar, Umichand and others. • 8. Dbq on the Usefulness of Torture The War on Terror has produced several different viewpoints on the utilization of torture and its effectiveness as a means to elicit information. A main argument has been supplied that torture is ineffective in its purpose to gather information from the victim. The usefulness of torture has been questioned because prisoners might use false information to elude their torturers, which has occurred in previous cases of torture. It has also been supposed that torture is necessary in order to use the information to save many lives. Torture has been compared to civil disobedience. According to the Third Geneva Convention, torture is defined as acts of violence and any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental is intentionally inflicted. After the September 11, 2001 attack, the United States changed its definition of torture to physical pain amounting to torture must be equivalent in intensity to the pain accompanying serious physical injury, such as organ failure, impairment of bodily function, or even death. This argument doesn t work because both a place of religion and school have different purposes. An anti Catholic would interpret the teachings of a Catholic church. While all that Tinker did was wear a black armband that caused no disturbance in the teachings of the school. The ruling for Bethel v. Fraser is correct because Frasers use of sexual innuendo was to a crowd who was unaware. • 11. Difference Between Hiring A Professional Graphic Design Many assume that the only difference between hiring a professional to handle graphic design and doing the work on their own is the price. Nothing is further from the truth, as the average person doesn t have the skills needed to create a professional image, one that truly reflects the business and its values in a positive light. A professional design goes above and beyond attracting the attention of the viewer. It provides a call to action, encouraging the viewer to purchase the product or service, yet many don t recognize this. They assume a logo or another design is nothing more than a symbol of the company, but it is much more, and our designers understand this. With the help of professional graphic design, companies find it easier to share their message with the customer. Individuals continue to be bombarded by advertising messages everywhere they look, and a professional design helps to attract attention in a crowded field while also providing the customer with information about the company. Although these may not seem of importance to the average person, technical aspects such as bleeding and cropping do play a role in the customer s perception of the brand. They don t realize this, but it is truly the case. Our team of graphic designers is familiar with these and other techniques and use them where appropriate to convey the desired message. Most importantly, graphic design involves more than creating a logo. Layout and production design along ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Nintendo And The Video Game Industry Over the years, corporations in the video game industry revolutionized the concept of consoles and videogames through strides of innovation. The videogame entertainment industry is highly competitive and is largely driven by creativity in the products being created. All throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Nintendoredefined entertainment through its innovative consoles and videogames. The company had skyrocketing sales. However, as new entrants such as Sony and Microsoft entered the market, Nintendo was exposed to severe competition. As a result, their sales and profitability started to plummet as the years progressed. Despite the shifts and changes in technology and forms of entertainment, Nintendo is adamant about sticking to its videogame strategy. In order for Nintendo to survive after the emergence of this technological substitution and be active competitor in the market, the company should license its popular games for use on smartphones and tablets. Incorporating and licensing popular Nintendo games onto smartphones and tablets will be much more affordable to consumers who enjoy playing online games as a form of entertainment. There has been tremendous global growth in owning smartphones and tablets. This is largely attributed to the product s features where a smartphone or a tablet can perform an array of tasks. Not only do they provide a lot of perks, they are also easily accessible and portable. An article on the Market for Computer and Video Games states that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Uffizi, built by Alfonso Parigi and Bernardo Buontalenti in 1580 in a pre industrial Florence, was primarily built to house the offices of thirteen Florentine magistrates and guilds in one place , and from this position they would have had authority over the entire Republic of Florence. Whereas the Town Hall built from 1749 1754, during the industrial revolution, was designed by John Wood , but was largely rebuilt in the early 19th century, adding a dome and south facing portico to the existing building. It served a variety of functions, including the Mayor s Courtroom and a customs warehouse. Since 1952 it has been a grade 1 listed building , referred to as one of the finest surviving 18th century town halls . Consequently, in the professional literature, there is a wide gap to be filled in the need for a critical perspective within the profession. We feel that the important contributions made by outside groups Gay liberation, the women s movement, mental patients union, trade unions and tenants associations reflect lack of confidence in social workers, usually with good reasons. It is not intended to demoralize those social workers who are themselves conditioned and controlled by the very institutional structures, in which they work, but to make them aware of contradictions, and to assist them to develop critical action. Social Action as a Method of Social Work: A strategy to obtain limited social change at the intermediate or macro levels of society which is generally used in non consensus situation and employs both norm adhering and norm testing modes of intervention. Three concepts are fundamental to this definition: the scope of change, the use of power in effecting and resisting change, and the change strategies employed (By S.K.Khinduka and Bernard J. Coughlin Washington Gonzaga University). Above definition revealed that social action is used as tool for mobilizing people. And it has the scope of change within society with respect to a planned strategy. This mainly depends on the person working on the vehicle. For any newcomer, the range of possible project vehicles can be staggering to approach, for there are many possibilities for a person to chose. An effective project usually focuses on a tuner car, muscle car, or sports car. These are the differences between them all. A tuner car is defined as a vehicle that is easy to modify and has mostly performance oriented modifications. Many of these vehicles are sedans, or four door vehicles. They can be anywhere from small to medium in size and take to forms of traditional sedans, mass produced coupes, and hatchbacks. This is the broadest of all of the categories of vehicles. African-American Independent Filmmaking History Something I found interesting about the lecture on African American Independent Filmmaking History, from 1915 to 1950, is how many African Americans went to entertain in the North after the Civil War. If I had gone north, I would have wanted to be out of the spotlight. It is already horrible enough African Americans had been in chains for so many years. Why would freedmen go onstage and make fun of it when nothing about slavery is funny? Slavery should indeed be addressed this country was built on immigration and slavery however, it should not be ridiculed. Yet entertainers went onstage to make fun of themselves and of their ancestors, and everyone who died so that they could live in freedom. Before the Civil War, slave owners would claim... Eventually, filmmakers such as Oscar Micheaux, W. E. B. However, this wasn t enough. Some race films reverted back to racist films, where African Americans were making fun of themselves, just to turn a profit. I liked The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. By comparing financial ratios between companies in the same industry (competitors) it is a useful way for investors and shareholders to determine the financial health and/or the sustainability of a company. Disney s main competitors within the industry include Time Warner and 21st Century Fox. There are five key areas of comparison that provide excellent financial analysis of a company. Jack London s To Build a Fire is a fascinating story with a remarkably well described setting, and geographical descriptions of the surrounding Yukon areas. It portrays an overconfident man, whom because of his lack of intuition and stubbornness, succumbs to natures unforgiving climate. Claim 1: In 1897 London and his brother in law, Captain James Shepard joined the Klondike Gold Rush. He used this experience to describe the settings of some of his first successful writings. His time spent in the Klondike was very harmful to his health. Like many other men working in the harsh conditions, London was malnourished in the goldfields, and he developed scurvy. He lost four of his front teeth and he was plagued by constant pain in his hips and legs. His face was scared by the rigid work he endured, and these hard ships inspired London to write his short story, To Build a Fire . A sign that a child is suffering from obesity is when their weight is well above the average for a child s height and age. Although obesity may run in a family, it does not determine whether a child will be obese or not ( Obesity in Children ). If a child who comes from a family of obesity, happens to become overweight like them, the likely cause is due to bad eating and activity habits. Many children today spend more time inside the house eating and watching television, rather than being active outdoors ( Obesity in Children ). The U.S. Constitution is supposed to guarantee the protection of those rights. This is why we go through countless lengths of looking for evidence and testimonies in our courts of law. Regardless of who the person is or what they may have done, discretion should always be used because the evidence will in many cases set the path for the sentence. If all the components are brought properly to the case, then the investigations should work accordingly and as follows from courts to sentencing. Nevertheless, those that are given a guilty verdict are not always the truly guilty defendants, many innocent people have been led to prison and there is where their nightmare begins in living color. When an innocent individual is incarcerated, it is an injustice to the individual being sentenced, the relatives of the sentenced, and the criminal justice system altogether. Years may pass and new evidence will be presented such as DNA testing and it will have confirmed that individual as innocent exonerated of their crimes. The challenge of being incarcerated is for the individual to make a change into a normal life which many times can be hard. Not only should our society do its part to improve the criminal justice system but also to support the responsibility in restoring those who have served their time under a wrong conviction. If there is anything we as a society should also provide to these once incarcerated, it is payment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Synthesis is the combining of separate elements or substances to form a coherent whole. They portray the female as a person who did the cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids while the men are doing the things they want going to work, going out with friends. Looking at the article by Samantha Olsen, it is about where we prepare boys to be tough, not to cry, suck it up if they get hurt or have their feelings hurt and to be a man at a young age. We can see how wrong this is in both articles because females are not a slave to their husbands and boys are not men and need to be able to feel what they want or need to at any age. In the first article, she uses personal experiences to show how men think of women as taking care of all their needs, as well as the children and their needs, also be able to fit in what her needs are while he does what he wants to do. In personal experience, I did not have this type of life we choose to do the chores and the other duties together as a family that works together to help each other not to put more stress on one or the other. In the second article, she writes about how boys are treated differently from girls. They are told if one of your peers also, need to be tough guys not to girls we are weak and emotional. However, the way we hit you hit them back that they are not supposed to cry, don t act that way be a man about it, expect and teach boys to be this big masculine, macho, tough person. • 39. How Does Priestley Present The Inspector In An Inspector... JB Priestly (1894 1984) wrote An Inspector Calls after the First World War (it was first performed in 1945); like much of his work, the play contains controversial, politically charged messages. Priestly was a resolute socialist and had very socialist views. This essay will explore some of the techniques Priestly uses to present the Inspector. The Inspector as soon as he is introduced has authority and is commanding of the situation. You can see this from the following quote, at once an impression of massiveness, solidity and purposefulness . The quote shows that, the Inspector is probably confident and will be motivated to do the tasks set for him/the tasks he has set for himself. Not only the family has an impression on the Inspector ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Priestly presents the Inspector as a strong believer in socialism, meaning that he greatly cares for his fellow citizens and believes that everyone should be treated equally and fairly. You can see this towards the end of the play when the Inspector makes a speech, which outlines his political views. He says that we should look after each other and stop thinking about ourselves so much, We don t live alone. We are members of one body. We are responsible for each other. This just shows how extreme his belief in socialism is and how he thinks people should live. We know that, Priestly also had socialist opinions, very similar to those of the Inspector. So you may say that, Priestly used the inspector as a mouthpiece to deliver his left wing views and his ideas on society at that time. However, you could think that the Inspector wasn t strictly socialist; he just thinks that people no matter what their social class should be treated fairly ( I don t think this). In my opinion, most of the audience would think of the Inspector as a socialist due to his obvious beliefs and speech at the end of the play. They d probably agree with what he says and also think that the Birling family was wrong to do and think the way they did. This would result in them possibly thinking that capitalism is wrong. The audience might develop socialist views as a result of agreeing with the Inspector; the 1945 viewers may realise that the rigid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Game 3 Game Analysis The basic way that I used to make profit is Trade on spread. I would take a long or short position based on the dynamic difference between the spot price and future price. Normally, I am willing to trade on the size of 20 contracts to ensure that I have sufficient margin to use when I firstly make a loss on these contracts. Some other matters will be explained in the following games that I have played in my personal game order. In Game 2, what I need to do is try to avoid trade losses and achieve net profits at the end of the game. At the beginning, the spot price and future price were a bit sticky to each other, the future price fluctuated within 10 cents for quite a long time, so I chose to sell(buy) it at the higher(lower) price and then to buy(sell) it at the relative lower (higher)price to make a small profit. In session 2, I made a loss based on my wrong expectation so I should take a bit more risk to recover my losses in later sessions. For example, If I short many contracts but the market is going up and the basis is widening, then I need to buy the contracts to close my position as soon as possible, at the same time, I will long more contracts and sell them when the market go further high to cover my losses and make profits. Chem 112 Technical Abstract Determination of Cations and Anions through Elimination and Confirmation Tests By: Symantha Resendiz Introduction A topic of great importance to all scientists is the identification of compounds, which is relevant in all aspects of their work in some way shape or form. Weather it may be determining what is causing sickness or what is polluting the air, it is very prevalent in the science world. In project 2, identification of cations and anions was preformed through a series of confirmation and elimination tests that ultimately led to identifying an unknown ionic compound made of cations and anions. Materials and Methods Part 1 Cation Tests To begin, 5 centrifuge tubes were added 10 drops of one cation and labeled... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mixture was then transferred to a clean centrifuge tube via pipet, carefully not wetting the upper walls of the tube. Zinc granules were then added and the tube was immediately plugged with cotton 1/3 of the way into the tube. The tube was then warmed in a hot water bath for about 5 minutes, the folded red litmus paper was inserted at the top of the tube with a wet crease. After a few minutes, nitrate is indicated on the wet crease of the litmus paper, turning it blue. For the Carbonate test, 25 mg of carbonate sample was added to a centrifuge tube and 3 drops of 6 M H2SO4 was added. A disposable pipet was used to transfer a drop of Ba(OH)2, that hung directly from the pipet over the carbonate solution, and the observations of the drop were recorded. Part 3 Cation and Anion Analysis For the cation analysis, 0.566 g of an unknown compound was dissolved completely in 5mL of distilled water in a centrifuge tube, thus confirming this solution as a stock solution. A flame test was performed on the stock solution to give a general idea of what test was to e preformed on the stock solution deriving the information from our logic trees in part 1. The logic tree from part 1 and the flame test confirmed that we needed to conduct an ammonia test on the stock solution. To being the ammonia test, 15 M NH4OH was added drop wise (about 20 drops) to the stock and the color of the solution and the color of the solution was recorded. 10 more drops of 15 M NH4OH ... • 42. Character Analysis Of Holden Caulfield In The Catcher In... Friendships are like goals; they are easy to make but difficult to keep. J.D Salinger s character Holden Caulfield from The Catcher in the Rye is a lonesome sixteen year old. Salinger s novel follows the story of Holden as he tries to rescue children s innocence from being lost to the crippling world of adulthood. Although he perceives his friends as fake, Holden tries to flatter his roommate Stradlater and old friend Sally Hayes into becoming a person like Jane Gallagher: someone that will listen to him. Ward Stradlater is Holden s smug roommate at Pencey Prep. Conceited yet friendly, Holden often dismisses his roommate s phoniness because Stradlater is capable of having a little intelligent conversation with Holden. While tap dancing, Holden jokes, I m the goddamn Governor s son (Salinger, 34). Stradlater laughs, proving that he can understand Holden s unique sense of humor. Only around Stradlater, Mr. Antolini and Phoebe, does Holden ever expose his aloof side, as he knows that they will be able to appreciate Holden s wit. Contrarily, Holden reigns a superior attitude over those he does not think are intelligent, such as his next door neighbor, Robert Ackley. However, the approachable behavior Stradlater exhibits causes Holden to seek more of his attention. For instance, he decides to write Stradlater s English composition. Before agreeing to the task, a shocked Holden marvels, I m the one that s flunking out of the goddamn place, and you re asking me to write you a goddamn composition (Salinger, 32). Afterwards, Holden asks Stradlater about what he should write his assignment on; this indicates that Holden does not care if he writes Stradlater a faulty paper, he just wants to charm him. Moreover, Holden later wonders, I wished I knew who d swiped my gloves at Pencey, because my hands were freezing (Salinger, 99). Evidently, Holden does not appreciate lending his clothes or doing anyone favors, yet he is incredibly generous with Stradlater. Holden gives Stradlater his hound s tooth jacket despite knowing that Stradlater will stretch it and then even writes his English composition. Satisfying Stradlater gains Holden his roommate s company, as a like minded individual s presence, is what Holder ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The DSM 5 requires either elevated mood or increased energy with at least 3 or more symptoms so it is clear that Jamison meets the criteria for maniain this episode. • 44. The Effects Of Obesity On The American Population Obesity has substantially increased in the American population, affecting both adults and children. According to the Mayo Clinic, the definition of obesity is defined as a condition of increased body weight that is caused by an excessive accumulation of fat. Many factors contribute to weight gain such as the two important ones, poor diet and physical inactivity. As people are exposed to high fat foods and have very low physical activity, it s so easy for that person to become overweight or obese. As in today s society children tend to overeat, many changes in a child s life are the reason why there is an increase in overeating. The place where children should be fed healthy and should influence them to eat healthy is actually where the problem starts. School cafeterias have been known to serve food with large fat content and low nutrition. School cafeterias even supply students with soda and candy machines (Kempster, 2004). According to a study done by King et al. (1999) has shown that fruits and raw vegetables given in school cafeterias has decreased substantially. Instead they provide unhealthy meals for these children like, pizza, tater tots, and many other numerous high level fat foods. At school children should have the access to eat healthy, however they are exposed to fast food choices everyday, making it difficult to support healthy eating (Kuntzman, 2004). The lack of physical activity is another major factor in the cause of childhood obesity. Due to the increase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. The Swing Portrays by Jean-HonorГ© Fragonard Jean HonorГ© Fragonard created The Swing in 1766 with oil paints on a 2 8.6 by 2 2 canvas. It is located in London, England in the Wallace Collection. During the time this work was created, France was an aristocracy and The Swing portrays a glimpse of the luxurious life of the ruling class. King Louis XV ruled during a time when France was the most prosperous and powerful country in all of Europe. Through the influence of Madame de Pompadour, the arts prospered during this time. In the 18th century during King Louis reign the arts seemed to consume the thoughts of not only the artists themselves but also the King and other wealthy and influential members of society. This in turn resulted in neglect of the undertakings of the state, which had its consequences. In 1789, the bloody French Revolution took place and soon after, the fall of the monarchy. The Swing is undoubtedly the most famous of all Fragonard s compositions. It epitomizes the Rococo style of the 18th century with tranquil colors and gentle light, exaggerated diagonals, decorations, and nature. . The libertine Baron de St. Julien commissioned this piece. He ordered that Fragonard paint the bishop pushing his Madame on a swing. Fragonard painted for the baron de Saint Julien his first great masterpiece and from then on he knew that for the rest of his life he would paint for people of wealth. He painted for many individuals including the king because his talent was something that everyone desired. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Language is everything from words that are spoken and the silence that lies between one phrase and the next. I find out odd how in our culture, we try to label things black and white. • 48. The Life Of Henrietta Lacks What exactly is Public Health? Public Health entails generating facts about the health status of a population. The population can be a community, a class or group of people, i.e., Male, Female, White, Hispanic, African American, wealthy or not, and/or any of the above. Once facts are known empirically, steps to improve the health status of that group can be designed, tested and ultimately rolled out on a larger scale. In the novel The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, there are multiple topics relating to Public Health policies (laws), research and education that are discussed and argued. Eventually, this changed Health Care into what it is to date. Throughout decades, without her knowledge, and with the use of her immortal, reproducing cancercell line known as HeLacells, Henrietta Lacks along with various doctors and researchers changed the face of Public Health policy, research and education. The use of her cancer cells and the outcomes of various experiments and studies has been debated for a long time and causes people to question moral, religious and ethical factors. Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman during the segregation era in the 1950s, whose life was changed by a quarter size knot in her cervix.
