Calbuco Volcano Essay
While there was so many different volcanos to choose from I chose the Calbuco volcano because it
was erupted very recently. Calbuco is a 6,570 foot high active stratovolcano located in Los Lagos,
Chile. Its coordinates are 41°19′48″S 72°37′06″W. The closest populated area to the volcano is Puerto
Varas which is located about 23.1 miles southwest of the Calbuco volcano as you can see in the google
image below. The last time that the Calbuco volcano erupted was April 22, 2015 and actually erupted
for a second time 7 hours later on that same day. Before that, the volcano hadn t erupted since 1972.
Both of the eruptions were about the same, releasing lava into the air and a mushroom cloud of ash
49,000 feet into the sky. Lighting also occurred, making it a frightening but beautiful sight to see in
the night sky.
Just before the Calbulco volcano erupted, they called for an evacuation and nearly 1,500 people were
evacuated from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the background we see a volcano on top of a mountain, with the tops covered in snow. In the
foreground we see green grass and a couple of trees, and in the middle ground we see what looks like
a grassy hill leading up to fields and fields of trees. The key element of this photograph is the huge
volcano located in the background. This photograph brings us to the Calbuco volcano on a sunny day.
This volcano is located in Los Lagos, Chile.
Most people would seriously question on why so many people throughout the world live in the
immediate vicinity of a volcano, and although we can only see the downside of that, there are benefits
from living so close to a volcano. One of the biggest reasons are the soils close to a volcano is full of
nutrients and minerals which keep the soil very fertile. This happens because of all of the lava and
rock that a volcano releases. This helps soil stay rich with nutrients and gives opportunities to grow
fruit, rice or other

The Pipeline Massacre From North Dakota And The Energy...
The Pipeline Massacre
The Sioux Tribe in North Dakota and The Energy Transfer Partners Company have been in a
disagreement over the pipeline that is supposed to go through the Standing Rock Indian reserve last
month. Sadly, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has approved the construction of the pipeline and
now the Sioux tribe has resorted to chaining themselves to backhoes and tractors to get their attention.
This article shows, showing the issue of constructing a pipeline through an Indian reserve, what
processes will take place if the pipeline is allowed to go through Standing Rock, and how it will affect
the Native Americans if they proceed with building the pipeline through the Standing Rock
reservation.
Understanding that America has made a treaty with the Natives, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
and the Energy Transfer Partners Company must also remember the Natives have the right to their
land and resources just as much as Americans have to theirs. There is a fine line between the two, and
what the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Energy Transfer Partners did was illegal and tactless. Our
constitution and laws has been violated many times throughout the process of constructing this
pipeline. They went through loopholes to get the permits without consulting with the Natives first.
Many times the Americans have failed to take into account that Natives have a certain way they want
to live. It is wrong how we oppressed them with our way of life, especially without

Why Are School Uniforms Or Bust
School Uniforms or Bust!
How would it feel to be made fun of every day at school just because of what you wear? Is that fair to
the person being made fun of when they have no control over the matter? I think not. If schools
required their students to wear uniforms, It would make student feel more equal, there wouldn t be
discrimination just because of what a person is wearing: everyone would be wearing the same thing.
Schools should require uniforms for the following reasons: an increase in test scores, a decrease in
school violence, and it will also help relieve the financial issues of buying school clothes. I certainly
think it will help. Having uniforms will reduce the financial burden on parents, it will eliminate dress
competition and it will reduce the number of instances of stealing or having clothing stolen, said
Lawson ( Will ).
People who support school uniforms argue that they will prevent students whose families can t afford
a lot of clothes from being bullied. There is some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People that oppose school uniforms say that they are a financial burden for poor families (Wilde). On
average, American parents spend around $130 on clothes for their kids each school year. While the
average annual cost of school uniforms are $249 (see figure 2). I know that based on this information
it would seem that buying regular school clothes would be a cheaper option than school uniforms, and
on paper it is. But, trending clothes have a huge impact on the cost of regular school clothes, explained
by the following excerpt of an article titled Pros and Cons of School Uniforms. In some cases, the use
of school uniforms is more affordable to families because there is not as much pressure to buy
expensive, trendy clothing. Uniforms are made to last, and can be washed easily, and frequently. After
the initial cost of buying uniforms, there is no need to spend as much money on clothing

The Teachability Dilemma of Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurs are a very, or perhaps the most, important boost in our economy. They do not only take
the risk for the sake of a business, but also they provide our economy with employment opportunities
and culture. A society can only be prosperous only when it rewards and encourages entrepreneurial
activity because in fact, it is the entrepreneurs and their activities that are the critical factor for
success, prosperity, growth and opportunity in any given economy. Entrepreneurship is not easy and it
comes with its own risks and up and downs. On the last decade, entrepreneurship has rose and
expanded, with this change and constant expansion, it has changed the rules of entrepreneurship once
again. But I certainly believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He or she must accept enough risk to innovate and create, but not so much that the business or activity
is not profitable.
Entrepreneurs also require certain characteristics that are necessary for success. The characteristics of
many entrepreneurs include spontaneous creativity and a willingness to make decisions in the absence
of solid data. He or she may be driven by a need to create something new or build something tangible.
As new enterprises have low success rates, a person in this role must also have considerable
persistence. He or she may have the greatest chance of success by focusing on a market niche either
too small or too new to have been dominated by established businesses.
One of the disadvantages of being an entrepreneur is that it has a lot of vulnerabilities. For example,
entrepreneurs may face social risk if their innovations challenge societal norms, or they may face
psychological risk as their hard work affects their families peace of mind. Many find that the
independence, notoriety, and feeling of contributing something valuable to society that often come
with being an entrepreneur outweigh these dangers.
All of this values mentioned above are characteristics required in a great, perhaps on all successful,
entrepreneurs. But everybody needs to find the characteristics needed in

Essay on 3-D Diorama Of the Novel Night by Eli Wiesel
This 3 D diorama illustrates a significant scene in the novel Night. This story originated during the
First World War in Sighet, Hungary. The Nazis were in power and they wanted to exterminate the
Jewish population; this was referred to as the Holocaust. The religious town of Sighet has not been
raided yet, so they re expecting for the best. The main characters are Elizer and his father. Sadly, the
Nazis reach Sighet and gather the Jews. They could only bring what they could carry, so homes and
other valuables were left alone. In this scene, the Jewish population of the small town are being
deported to Auschwitz. Auschwitz was the first concentration camp they were sent to, so this was
going to have a huge impact on their lives. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The significant colors used are red and black within the scene. There are ruthless officers in the camp
covered with blood from the assassinated victims. There is a huge crematorium where people would
be burned after being killed. There is a red light inside to symbolize blood, screams and death. There
are gray ashes rising from the crematorium and these are the only remains of the dead. The cattle car
has just reached the Auschwitz station and the officers are preparing for a new batch of Jews. This
scene shows the transition between the present and future. Furthermore, it illustrates what the victims
of the Holocaust had to lose and endure for several years during the Great War. This scene (selection
2) illustrates an important twist in the beginning of the novel
I have incorporated many presentation techniques to further enhance my diorama. For example, my
presentation uses many literary devices such as mood, juxtapositions, allusions, imagery and symbols.
On the stage, there are two different scenes. One half illustrates Sighet and the other illustrates the
Auschwitz station. Firstly, the outside of my shoebox contains two dominant colors: black and white.
On one side, it is completely black on the exterior. Black is commonly associated with power, death,
struggles and many other negative aspects. This technique better illustrates the literary term imagery.
The Nazis were in power and they violently killed the

Roman Art Vs Greek Art
I ve always been fascinated with Greek and Roman methodology. As a child I spent countless hours
watching classic films like Jason and the Argonauts or Hercules starring Steve Reeves. I d like to
begin by comparing a few pieces of art that I recently discovered at the University of Pennsylvania
Museum of Archaeology. I ve selected two pieces of art, one from the Roman and the other from the
Greek collection. Each of the pieces symbolize death and sacrificing. Vastly different in texture and
design each piece connects feasting and the celebration of life to sacrificing. First, Greek piece is a
Terracotta Votive Pinax, 450 425 BC and the Roman piece is a Umbro Etruscan Terracotta, 3rd BC.
Each piece represents a symbolic circle of life that celebrated life and honored the gods through
sacrificing. Both Roman and Greeks societies showed continued reference to the gods by practicing ...

Movie like Troy starring Brad Pitt and 300 starring Gerard Butler are hugely responsible for the next
wave of excitement associated with these cultures. While comic books may seem somewhat juvenile,
it s apparent that movie characters like the Flash are mirror images of mythological figures like
Mercury. They each possessed incredible speed and wings which were central to their physical being.
Another character Thor was a combination of Greek, Roman and Norse mythology all rolled up into
one as well. Many of these figures were intertwined with faith, culture, mingling human fathers or

reader on what a design patent is, what is the use of a design patent, the requirement of obtaining a

about what a design patent is, we first must know what a design is. According to the united states

), A design consists of the visual ornamental characteristics embodied in, or applied to, an article of
manufacture. A design could relate to the shape and proportion of an article, the surface of an article or
a combination of the two. For instance, a Donald duck telephone would be an example of a design
related to shape and proportion, and a picture of a race car used as a watch face is an example of a
surface design. A patent is a property right to an inventor. patents grant the right to exclude others
from making, using, offering for sale, or selling an invention in the United States or importing the

Minimum Wage Issues
Minimum wage is one of the biggest issues facing American society today. The government has been
involved in the minimum wage of workers for more than a hundred years, so government and people
have debated about what should be the minimum wage that would advantage the economy and society
in total. But unfortunately, after a long time arguing about this problem nothing change and the
American worker and breadwinner are still struggling with their income, so the big problem for the

between the citizen, so they facing a lot of problems in their society that poor people has to coping
with that and the same time the rich people with all the opportunity, they continue their fancy life .
These young people wants be famous and rich because they see result of pain of gap between the rich

any more, but it is about just be rich, and powerful and famous. Honesty, this is so painful for the
society that class differentials themselves are dangerous consequences for the democracy community.
Another issue that shows the minimum wage has to be raised is the lack of motivation for middle
class. The first problem these families face is the inability to provide basic living facilities that include
housing, spending, and other human needs such as health insurance, and so on. Manet noticed that

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Role Play Activity
The Role Play Activity
The Role Play Activity could be the best way to stimulate conversation. By this activity, 1st year EFL

by asking to perform dialogues, negotiate with your partner on an item such as computer or large piece
of furniture, and discuss things such as warranty that are found in (ESLGold, 2010). This activity will
help them to know the right place of each discourse and give them an opportunity to practice it well,

In simulations, 1st year EFL learners could bring items to the class to create a realistic environment.
For instance, if a learner is acting as a singer, she brings a microphone to sing and so on. Role plays
and simulations have many advantages. First, since they are entertaining, they motivate the learners.
Second, as Harmer (2001, p. 275) suggests, they increase the self confidence of hesitant learners,
because in role play and simulation activities, they will have a different role and do not have to speak
for themselves.
Storytelling
First year EFL Learners could create their own stories to tell their classmates or summarize a tale or
story they heard from somebody else. Story telling could help learners developing creative thinking
and to know how to develop ideas from introduction, body, and then conclusion without forgetting to
include the characters and the setting. Learners also can tell riddles or jokes. For instance, at the
beginning of each class, the teacher should call few learners to tell short riddles or jokes as an
opening. In this way, he will not only address their speaking ability but getting the attention of the
class.

that night due to the thoughts of having the chance to be a national champion the next day. Sunday
morning came, I woke up at 8 a.m. and left my dorm room to have breakfast with the team. After
roughly 45 minutes we headed down to the locker room to get ready for our light morning practice.
We waited around in our locker room till 10 a.m., then went up to the gym for the practice, which was
an hour. After that, we all showered and changed and left for the media room by 11:30 a.m. to review
game film and strategies. After a long 2 and a half hours we met for a large lunch prepared by the

Why Are Historians Important In History
Historians are influenced by countless features of their lives. As a part of any race, gender, religion,
nationality, time period, political identity or social class they have a unique world view. These factors
may help them see a primary or secondary resource in a new light and gain a fuller understanding of
the situation. Their views can also cause historians to overlook important features in resources or fail
to recognize a particular side of the issue. Historians can broaden their horizons by studying groups
that they do not understand. They must keep in mind that these resources also have all of these
influences acting on them. They are only a small piece of the puzzle. Historians must never accept and
resource as fact without analyzing it. Among all the competing influences a historian is always
searching for a new angle and a fuller understanding of events. These factors that effect historians lead
them to subscribe to different schools of thought about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historians must acknowledge that Americans do not all hold one view. They are a melting pot of
different experiences and opinions that all deserve to be heard. I am part of the Realist diplomatic
school of thought. The United States has made many poor foreign policy choices. They get involved in
too many wars and military power struggles. Most of these do not directly benefit the United States,
they become a money pit and source of international political unrest. Americans have historically
wanted to fix all the world s problems but their solutions are frequently rejected by other countries
because America does not understand that country s point of view. The United States should stop
trying to intervene in other countries and look out for their own interests instead. America stands to

The flashy advertisements broadcast in television generate impulse shopping in children. Children,
after watching the glitter of commercials, often lose the ability to live a life without materialistic joy.
The kids usually get more attracted towards the costly branded products, such as jeans and
accessories. They disregard the inexpensive, but useful, ones that are not shown in the commercials.
Advertisements have an indirect effect on the behavior of children. They might develop temper
tantrums, when deprived of the latest toys and clothes that are shown in the commercials. The
personal preferences in clothing, toys, food and luxurious of children are altered by the
advertisements, to a great extent. Junk foods, such as pizzas, burgers and soft drinks, are heavily
promoted during children s TV viewing time. This develops a craving for fatty, sugary and fast foods
in kids, thereby affecting their health adversely. BELOW ARE FINDINGS FROM SOME OF THE

Argumentative Essay On Ancient Aliens
Aliens are also written in ancient history. There is also a television series called Ancient Aliens .
Ancient Aliens explores the controversial theory that extraterrestrials have visited Earth for millions of
years. From the age of the dinosaurs to ancient Egypt, from early cave drawings to continued mass
sightings in the United States, each episode in this hit HISTORY series gives historic depth to the
questions, speculations, provocative controversies, first hand accounts and grounded theories
surrounding this age old debate. (HISTORY.com). There are tons of things like ancient ruins, ancient
alien technology and origins written in history to support the belief and proof that aliens are real.
Drawn into a high plateau in Peru s Nazca Desert, a group of ancient designs stretching more than
fifty miles has astounded archaeologists for decades. Along with simple lines and geometric shapes,
drawings of animals, birds and humans have also been made, some measuring six hundred feet across.
From their colossal size, the drawings can only be viewed and appreciated from way up in the air and
there is no evidence that the Nazca people invented flying machines. According to ancient astronaut
theorists, the figures were used as guidelines for spaceships as they came in for landing, and the lines
served as runways. (listverse.com). Things that were created hundreds and hundreds of years ago, the
technology was not around to help make the creations that were made. The only logical reasoning
would be aliens helping people long ago.
NASA has made statements recently that suggest that the discovery of aliens is a matter of when,
rather than if. (newsweek.com). NASA even announced an indication that there may be life on one of
Saturn s sixty two moons. The Cassini spacecraft orbiting Saturn has already detected underground
saltwater oceans on the moon Enceladus and Australian National University astrophysicist Brad
Tucker says he is ninety five percent sure that NASA will announce it has discovered changing levels
of methane in the atmosphere a phenomenon driven by organic life, at least here on Earth.

The Opera Of Turandot By Giacomo Puccini
Opera Paper Turandot Turandot is a dramatic opera that was performed in the Metropolitan Opera in
2009. Turandot was written by Giacomo Puccini. This rendition of Turandot was produced by Franco
Zeffirelli, and directed by Andris Nelsons. In this beautiful performance of Turandot, we see Maria
Guleghina as Princess Turandot, Mariana Poplavskaya as Lui and Calaf as play by Marcello Giodani.
With all of these talented actors and show personnel, this production remains one of the best known
film adaptations of Turandot. The composer of Turandot is Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele
Secondo Maria Puccini, who was born on December 28, 1858 in the small town of Lucca Italy.
Puccini came from 5 generations of musicians and began writing operas at the age of 21. His realistic
verismo style, which means truth or reality in Italian, allowed him to identify with his characters in a
realistic way and his operas reflect real life situations. Puccini liked to write operas with heroines
rather than heroes. His operas almost always include a death for the sake of love. Despite his operatic
genius, Puccini only wrote ten operas in his lifetime. He died on November 22, 1924 at the age of 66.
At the time of his death, he was only one act short of completing Turandot. His close friend and fellow
composer, Arturo Toscanini, finished Turandot shortly after his death. Puccini has been referred to by
many critics as the greatest composer of Italian opera after Verdi (Brittanica.com).

The Cult Of Womanhood
The cult of true womanhood also known as the cult of domesticity began to emerge in the 19th
century. As more men began to take over jobs and were able to provide for their families, the cult of
domesticity slowly emerged. The cult was an ideology of women that they were to be housewives and
mothers and were to follow the four cardinal virtues. The Four cardinal virtues were, piety, purity,
submissiveness, and domesticity. Many of the women that possessed these virtues and that were in the
cult, were considered to be middle and upper class. Women were to follow these virtues vigorously or

Atlanta, GA 30339, but by calling (770) 432 2663, you can see it for yourself! I like the concept of the
very reasonably priced Local Yokel . It is a three course meal containing locally sourced ingredients. I
didn t order it this time, but my date did, with wine pairings. We started by splitting the House
Smoked Salmon. I liked the smoked salmon itself, and the potato cake with goat cheese was quite
delectable, but it was slightly rich together. Personally, I like the simple taste of smoked salmon by
itself. With the cheese, I think it was too rich as a starter, so I did not finish it. Also, since they pre split
it for us, we both got a relatively large portion. They also bring around a bread basket and let you
choose from three different breads. The sourdough and spicy flat bread were awesome; I probably had
five or six pieces of that flat bread over the course of dinner. The poppy seed wheat was also good, but
my least favorite of the three. Since my date got the three courses as well, they brought out a chilled
white shrimp soup for his appetizer after we finished the salmon. I tried a bite and it was pretty good,
but I do not think I would order it in the future. His entrée was a plethora of pork consisting of pork
loin and barbecue pork belly. They were both exceptional. I had the George s Bank Scallops for my
entree. The Leek and Bacon Risotto was simply amazing, possessing a enjoyable bacon flavor. His
dessert course was a strawberry rhubarb cobbler with vanilla ice cream. He loved it so much that I
only got a small bite, but it was really excellent. I am not a fan of fruit cobbler or pies but I could have
ordered this and been perfectly satisfied. I opted for the Toasted Georgia Pecan and Walnut Pie

Technology In VLSI Technology
Abstract Advancement in the VLSI technology leads to the reduction in chip size and increase in chip
density. As the chip density increases the overall power consumption and the complexity also
increases. As the performance of any system is measured mainly on power consumption, it is
recommended to use low power VLSI Design techniques. In this paper, we would discuss the GDI
logic and its application in the modeling of adders for Vedic Multiplier design. Adders are of prime
importance, the design of reliable and efficient adder for a VLSI based embedded application matters.
This paper primarily deals with the design of Ripple Carry Adder, Kogge Stone Adder, and Brent

II. GDI LOGIC Gate Diffusion Input (GDI) logic is a low power Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI)
design technique which was introduced as an alternative to CMOS logic design. This technique is a
two transistor implementation of complex logic functions; Logic functions can be designed with fewer
gates. GDI provides in cell swing restoration when operated in certain conditions and use of
restoration buffers. Digital circuits designed using GDI logic will have less power consumption
occupy a minimum area, gate count and delay in the circuit is reduced. Because of fewer gates, there
is less design complexity.GDI cell is as shown in the below figure 2.1 GDI cell looks similar to the
CMOS inverter but the major difference is that the GDI cell has one PMOS and NMOS transistors
connected in cascade resulting in three input terminals N, P, G. where N is the input terminal of
NMOS, P is input to the PMOS and G is connected to the common gate of NMOS and PMOS. These
terminals could be given a supply VDD or Grounded or input signal depending on the circuit design.
In conventional CMOS inverter circuit, the PMOS and NMOS diffusion inputs are always either VDD

The On Liberty By John Stuart Mills
ON LIBERTY In John Stuart Mills profound work, On Liberty he preaches against the conformity of
the nations and outwardly encourages and restlessly defends voice of the individual. The philosopher
expresses the importance of individuality by warning against forces such as the government and other
citizens silencing their opinion. Though Mill s gives due recognition to virtues such as free speech,
liberty and individualism he also rightly places limitations on our freedoms to ensure our own
freedoms do not infringe upon the ones of those around us. In essence, I believe that Mill s
insightfully provides a logical answer to society on how to live and how to allow others to live; freely
unless harm will ensue. By Mills statement that, [i]f all mankind minus one were of one opinion,
mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person than he, if he had the power, would
be justified in silencing mankind one can gain insights into his justification for this argument, the
limitations that should rightly be placed on free speech, the assumptions that are the basis for this
argument. Throughout Mills essay he argues against the oppressive tyranny of the government in
silencing the opinions of others. He warns that, there needs to be protection also against the tyrant of
the prevailing opinion of feeling; against the tendency of society to impose... its own ideas on those
who dissent from them (Mills 9). Further, Mills justifies this statement by

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator
The study of personalities is often a complex and daunting task. Trying to determine why people are
the way they are, why they do what they do, and how they will react to certain situations has been the
focus of many personality assessments. One of the most popular personality assessments being the
Myers Briggs Type Indicator or the MBTI. The core idea of this assessment when being created was to
help individuals gain more insight into their personalities. In the words of the creators, Katherine and
Isabel Briggs Myers, this assessment was created to enable individuals to grow through an
understanding and appreciation of individual differences in healthy personality and to enhance
harmony and productivity among diverse groups (History, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These eight types Jung described in his book where shown in pairs of opposites, so a person is
identified as one or the other. The first pair being ways in which we adapt to or orient ourselves to the
world around us. These two ideas are described as extraversion and introversion. Extraversion is when
our energy moves toward the outer world; the world outside of us. Introversion is when our energy
moves toward the inner world or the world inside of us (Carl jung and psychological types, n.d.). Jung
believed that our orientation to the world, whether that be introverted or extroverted, is the foundation
of our personality. Although most tend to go back and forth these two energies on a daily basis
depending on the environment we find ourselves in, Jung believed that we feel most comfortable in
one of these worlds over the other.
In addition to being either more extraverted or introverted, Jung theorized that these alone could not
account for behavioral differences he observed in people. Therefore, he identified two opposite mental
functions in which we use to take in information. Sensing perception which is the process of collecting
data through our five senses and intuitive perception which is the process in which connections are
made and meanings inferred beyond our sensory data (Carl jung and psychological types, n.d.). Jung
also identified two opposite mental functions which we use to evaluate information or

Information from the informant and the urban residents provides background information concerning
the park, analyzing the importance of the park over the years, and also getting opinions and attitudes
of the park users. Based on this information, analysis of the goals for the park are developed and
articulated in well architectural drawings that will play part in setting the platform for the eventual
redesign and development of the park.

2.2.1 Provision of greater accessibility to the park
Major improvements in this area should be made with the help of qualified architectural designers
who will design and plan how the park should accommodate the ease flow of people within the park.
The park should be upgraded to provide for improved parking lots and access and also provide for a
more centralized public transportation access within the park.
2.2.2 Creation of more active and passive space
Parks have always been classified as either active or passive spaces. Active spaces within the park are
typically those that provide for formal recreational areas and organized for activities such as sporting
activities.Hard non green spaces, such as basketball and tennis courts can be referred to as active

The Meaning Of The Movie Maleficent And Sleeping Beauty
Maleficent VS Sleeping Beauty
Throughout many years fairy tales have changed from warnings and nightmares to life goals and
bedtime stories. The movie Maleficent is a modern day retelling for the story Sleeping Beauty. In
Maleficent there is a fairy named Maleficent who falls in love with a boy who later breaks her heart
and has a baby with another woman. When Maleficent finds out he has had a child, she curses the
baby girl so she will prick her finger on her 16th birthday, causing her to fall into a death like sleep
that only true love s kiss will wake her from. Maleficent sneakily watches over the child until her 16th
birthday and loves her like her own child. When the 16 year old girl pricks her finger the kiss from her
prince does not wake her, but Maleficent s kiss goodbye does. In the movie a lot of special effects are
used when Maleficent is using magic or flying, and it is also used when the other magical creatures are
in any scene. The music used throughout the movie sets the tone of what is happening and shows
emotion. Many of the costumes used are similar to Disney s movie of Sleeping Beauty like Maleficent
s all black outfit and horns. The movie Maleficent is a good retelling of the story Sleeping Beauty
because of the special effects, music, and costumes used within the film.
Special effects play a large role in movies now a days to better the quality and understanding of the
movie. In Maleficent special effects are used greatly when Maleficent is flying. When

trainer are having good communication skills, learning how to properly document medical
information, and always be keeping up to date with medical portals such as pyramed. Before the
athletes arrive for practices and games, I start off by getting the team a few water coolers and water
bottles set up at their designated practice area in order for the players to be properly hydrated. After

Research Paper On Osteogenesis Imperfect
Collagen is a fibrous protein which functions in the extracellular matrix and connective tissue. This
protein strengthens and supports tissues in the body, such as bone, cartilage, skin, and tendons.
Collagen 1 (alpha 1) is the most abundant type of collagen and is vastly distributed in connective
tissue, except in hyaline cartilage. Type I collage is found throughout the body in the skin, tendon,
vascular, organs, and it is responsible for strength and sturdiness. It is a triple helix formed by two
copies of the alpha chain and one copy of the alpha 2 chain. Type II collagen is the main element of
cartilage and it is formed by two or more collagens. Type III collagen makes up elastic tissues (skin,
lungs, blood vessels). Type IV forms the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This condition causes bone breakage with little to no trauma. Osteogenesis imperfect is a connective
tissue disorder in which the protein, collagen, has a defective synthesis. This defective synthesis is due
to multiple mutations in the collage encoding genes and the severity of this disorder depends on the
particular mutation. The genetic defect affects the production and formation of collagen 1. The four
subtypes of osteogenesis imperfect are Type 1 OI, Type 2 OI, Type 3 OI, and Type 4 OI. Type 1 OI is
the most common and mildest form of this disease. Type 2 OI is the most severe form, and it is fatal.
In type 2 OI, the body either produces low quality of collage, or it doesn t produce enough. Type 3 OI
is also a severe form, but not fatal. In this type, the body produces enough collage, but poor quality.
Type 4 IO is the most flexible form because the symptoms can range from mild to severe. Patients
with Type I or Type IV osteogenesis imperfecta can usually inherit a mutation from a parent with the
disorder. In some cases, clinical geneticists perform biochemical or molecular tests which can confirm
a diagnosis of Osteogenesis imperfect. These tests are thought to detect close to 90% of all collagen

Summary Of Mt. Hood, Oregon By Albert Bierstadt
Albert Bierstadt was a painter most remembered for his dramatic and large masterpieces that focused
on extreme color and contrast, especially with lighting. However, when it comes to his painting, Mt.
Hood, Oregon, he tends to defy those preconceived ideas. Painted in the early 1860 s, this painting is
representative of Bierstadt s earlier artwork. He uses lighter brushstrokes, a brighter and more
monochromatic color palette, and is depicting a minimalist scene in its natural state (Figure 1). The
painting is currently displayed at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH, and while it is
frequently described as small it is larger than you think. Measuring at fifty one inches by sixty one and
a quarter inches leaves the Mt. Hood, Oregon painting seeming small compared to his typical
artworks. Due to the smaller size of the painting, one is lead to believe that he did not have access to
the supplies or the desire to create a masterpiece of such grand scale such as The Rocky Mountains,
one of his most notable pieces. Bierstadt painted Mt. Hood, Oregon by sketching the location on a
canvas and then painting it with oil paint. When analyzing the painting up close you are able to see the
level of transparency in the paint, resulting in sections of the canvas to shine through the color (Figure
2 and 3). In order to achieve this look it is likely that Albert Bierstadt used large amounts of turpentine
to thin out the medium of oil paint, resulting in a transparent color.

A Brief Note On Depression And The Depression

Mrs. Fischer
Hours Worked: 22 Major depression, also known as unipolar depression, is one of the most common
mental illnesses. Over nine million adults each year suffer from depression. Many people don t
understand what depression really is, including myself until I did a lot of research over this subject.
Major depression is more than a temporary state of being sad. It is a persistent state that can
significantly impair an individual s thoughts, behavior, daily activities, and physical health. According
to The Stanford School of Medicine, they said that major depressive disorder impacts all racial, ethnic,
and socioeconomic groups and can occur at any age. (Depression Research Clinic) Depression is a
common, but serious illness that can occur in people of all ages; teenagers, adults, and older adults.
Depression is a condition that reportedly affects one in every ten Americans at some point in their
lives. The incidence of depression is actually higher in some states than others. Certain ethnicities also
report higher depression rates than others. According to Healthline, the number of patients diagnosed
with depression increases by approximately 20% each year. (Healthline) In the United States,
Oklahoma, Arizona, Tennessee, West Virginia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama have the highest
reported rates of depression. These states also show high rates of other negative health outcomes such
as obesity, heart disease,

Christians, Jews, and the Black Plague
Relations between the Christians and Jews of medieval Europe were always influenced by their
unequal social and economic statuses and the religious competition that existed between them. While
the Jews served a purpose in the Christian religion, this purpose meant that the more populous
Christians that had come to dominate Europe only tolerated the Jews. No premise of equality existed,
and the Jews came to depend on relationships with lower level rulers to secure their relative safety.
Rumors persisted that Jews had poisoned wells, and the Jews were often the targets of violence that
the Christians seemed exceedingly willing to deliver. Overall, life was better for the Christians and
worse for the Jews, although this would be of no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most documented Christian responses to the plague was the rise of the flagellants. A
spontaneous and unsanctioned movement, the flagellants sought to ward off the plague by physically
punishing themselves for the sins that had caused God to send the Black Death to punish them
(Tuchman, 1978, p. 125). Flagellant processions would typically remain on the move, marching from
town to town, while twice a day beating themselves with whips and other instruments until they drew
blood (Slack, 1988, p. 439). They were also known for their singing of religious songs while marching
and whipping themselves, which ran counter to the official Catholic Church position and caused
church officials no small amount of trouble (Lerner, 1981, p. 535 36). The official reasoning by the
Catholic Church was that the flagellant movement was an unnecessary and wrong reaction to the
Black Death, since there were equal death rates among Christians and Jews. The flagellants were also
part of a Christian movement known as premillennialism (Lerner, 1981, 534). The extensive deaths in
Europe cause many Christians to believe that the second coming of Christ was near, which would
result in the end of the world. This interest in the events that were prophesied to happen just before the
end of the world ran very high during this time. This interest was also a large influence responsible for
the rise of groups like the flagellants (Lerner, 1981, 538). Another common occurrence in

Essay About My Math Teaching Experience
My math teaching experience went with students who are in third grade. In my group I had four
students, where was one ELL student. They were struggling in math as per their teacher, especially in
subtracting big numbers with zeroes. I had to reteach subtraction, three or two digit number, as
needed, from three digit number. And concentrate on subtractions from zeroes. Everything started
great, the kids were exiting, as of they are going out of the room. We sat down in the hall and it was
not comfortable. The kids were sitting near the wall, I was sitting in front of them in the middle of the
walking area. As of kids were sitting on the floor and me too, we were several times distracted by
other kids or adults, who was walking through the hall, it was always disturbing us. I started my lesson
with math solving problem and my students easy were able to figure out what operation that needs to
do. They all said subtraction. I said great. Then, I asked them to solve this problem independently.
Student 1, was just sitting, Student 2 used her fingers to count, Student 3 did very fast, but not
correctly and Student 4 just copied that incorrect answer. Then, I asked to share their answers. Student
3 raised her hand and said, it was easy, we have 0 9, will be 9. Then 0 5, will be 5. Then 4 2 will be 2.
So, the answer is 259. From this answer I understood, that my students understand that ones must be
under one, and tens under tens, hundred under hundred, but students

Langston Hughes Remembers a Night at Church with his Aunt
The author Langston Hughes reminisces about when his Aunt took him to church when he was
thirteen years old; Every night for weeks there had been much preaching, singing praying, shouting,
and some very hard sinners had been brought to Jesus (1059). At the end of revival the children were
asked to approach the mourners bench To be saved! Langston s Aunt told him about how when you
were saved something happened to you inside. (1059) So Mr. Hughes went to the bench with the
fellow children in the church, the preacher preached, hymns were sung they keep saying wont you
come, Young lambs to Jesus? One by one the children rose to Jesus. Leaving Langston Hughes and
another boy Westley; the boy Westley got tired of sitting on the bench he stood up to be saved.
Langston Hughes sat there waiting for Jesus he too grew tired of sitting on the bench and he figured
that Jesus didn t smite Westley for lying; so he stood up. Later in the night he cried; his aunt told his
uncle that he was crying because of the Holy Ghost in his life; when instead he was crying because he
questioned if God existed or not for he did not come for him when he was on the bench with the other
children. He didn t believe there was a Jesus anymore. This is an appeal what happened to Langston
Hughes it plays on the emotions to be saved by god to stand up and be saved. The evidence is that
night I was escorted to the front row and placed on the mourners bench with all the other young

Human Oppressiveness in Two Kinds and A P Essay
It was Emerson who said it best, For nonconformity, the world whips you with its displeasure (Porter

quote is entirely applicable in the context of oppressiveness and in the likeness of coming of age.
These two stories document the different perspectives of two characters growing up and how the role
of the invisible hand of oppression guides developing adolescents into mature adults; without
prejudice or even forethought. The characters in question are: Sammy, an A P store clerk whose time

oppressive force ) as a whole.
In the biographical essay Amy Tan by Karen Stein, she mentions how Tan s parents pressured her to
be both medical physician and pianist. She grew up around California, moving frequently. At fifteen,
Amy s father passed away. This was when her mother, Daisy, took her children to Switzerland and
enrolled them in school there, only to return again to California in the late 1960 s. Despite her parent s
wishes, and her mother s pressure; Tan eventually switched her life course when she changed her
majors in college to English and Linguistics (2). As a now successful American novelist, Tan has
wrote such stores as the popular Joy Luck Club, a collection of stories involving many Asian
American characters involved in a Mahjong club and the trials and tribulations they face as Old world
American immigrants. Tan, today, is considered and important voice among the groups of hyphenated
Americans. (Stein 3) Two Kinds, in fact, was one of the stories in the short series. As a reflection of
her own past, Two Kinds itself was largely a piece of Tan s history written in fictional form. John
Updike, on the other hand, is a prolific American writer whose career began by writing about such
political issues like the Cold War and the Iron Curtain. As a child of the Great Depression and
enduring WWII, in similarity to Tan, Updike was no stranger to uncertainty and hardship (Greiner
195). While Tan and Updike s style differ greatly,

Hindus used these practices as a way to reflect on the stories of the gods such as Shiva and how they

The And Managing Student Behavior Essay
PBIS and Managing Student Behavior
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a multi tier strategy based on student
outcome as opposed to a set curriculum. In a classroom it is based on 6 essential practices, but the
strategies can, and should be implemented school wide for maximum benefit. The following will offer
some history on PBIS, a breakdown of the 6 essential classroom practices, and a brief description of
what a three tier strategy would encompass.
History
Positive Behavior Interventions and Strategies (PBIS) was developed in the 1980 s in response to a
need for a more effective management of students with Behavior Disorders (BD) behaviors (Sugai
Simonsen, 2012). Research done at the University of Oregon found that emphasis should be placed on
behavior prevention, and social skill instruction in a school wide system (Sugai Simonsen, 2012). In
1997 with the revision of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) a grant was included to
establish a National Center on Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. The national center was
established with the goal of providing technical assistance to schools for the support of students with
BD (Sugai Simonsen, 2012).
PBIS has its roots in intervention for students with BD, but a shift has taken place to PBIS being a
school wide behavioral support. PBIS is now defined as evidence based interventions to achieve
academically and behaviorally important outcomes for all students (Sugai Simonsen, 2012).

  • 2. Calbuco Volcano Essay While there was so many different volcanos to choose from I chose the Calbuco volcano because it was erupted very recently. Calbuco is a 6,570 foot high active stratovolcano located in Los Lagos, Chile. Its coordinates are 41°19′48″S 72°37′06″W. The closest populated area to the volcano is Puerto Varas which is located about 23.1 miles southwest of the Calbuco volcano as you can see in the google image below. The last time that the Calbuco volcano erupted was April 22, 2015 and actually erupted for a second time 7 hours later on that same day. Before that, the volcano hadn t erupted since 1972. Both of the eruptions were about the same, releasing lava into the air and a mushroom cloud of ash 49,000 feet into the sky. Lighting also occurred, making it a frightening but beautiful sight to see in the night sky. Just before the Calbulco volcano erupted, they called for an evacuation and nearly 1,500 people were evacuated from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the background we see a volcano on top of a mountain, with the tops covered in snow. In the foreground we see green grass and a couple of trees, and in the middle ground we see what looks like a grassy hill leading up to fields and fields of trees. The key element of this photograph is the huge volcano located in the background. This photograph brings us to the Calbuco volcano on a sunny day. This volcano is located in Los Lagos, Chile. Most people would seriously question on why so many people throughout the world live in the immediate vicinity of a volcano, and although we can only see the downside of that, there are benefits from living so close to a volcano. One of the biggest reasons are the soils close to a volcano is full of nutrients and minerals which keep the soil very fertile. This happens because of all of the lava and rock that a volcano releases. This helps soil stay rich with nutrients and gives opportunities to grow fruit, rice or other ... • 3. The Pipeline Massacre From North Dakota And The Energy... The Pipeline Massacre The Sioux Tribe in North Dakota and The Energy Transfer Partners Company have been in a disagreement over the pipeline that is supposed to go through the Standing Rock Indian reserve last month. Sadly, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has approved the construction of the pipeline and now the Sioux tribe has resorted to chaining themselves to backhoes and tractors to get their attention. This article shows, showing the issue of constructing a pipeline through an Indian reserve, what processes will take place if the pipeline is allowed to go through Standing Rock, and how it will affect the Native Americans if they proceed with building the pipeline through the Standing Rock reservation. Understanding that America has made a treaty with the Natives, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Energy Transfer Partners Company must also remember the Natives have the right to their land and resources just as much as Americans have to theirs. There is a fine line between the two, and what the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Energy Transfer Partners did was illegal and tactless. Our constitution and laws has been violated many times throughout the process of constructing this pipeline. They went through loopholes to get the permits without consulting with the Natives first. Many times the Americans have failed to take into account that Natives have a certain way they want to live. It is wrong how we oppressed them with our way of life, especially without ... • 4. Why Are School Uniforms Or Bust School Uniforms or Bust! How would it feel to be made fun of every day at school just because of what you wear? Is that fair to the person being made fun of when they have no control over the matter? I think not. If schools required their students to wear uniforms, It would make student feel more equal, there wouldn t be discrimination just because of what a person is wearing: everyone would be wearing the same thing. Schools should require uniforms for the following reasons: an increase in test scores, a decrease in school violence, and it will also help relieve the financial issues of buying school clothes. I certainly think it will help. Having uniforms will reduce the financial burden on parents, it will eliminate dress competition and it will reduce the number of instances of stealing or having clothing stolen, said Lawson ( Will ). People who support school uniforms argue that they will prevent students whose families can t afford a lot of clothes from being bullied. There is some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People that oppose school uniforms say that they are a financial burden for poor families (Wilde). On average, American parents spend around $130 on clothes for their kids each school year. While the average annual cost of school uniforms are $249 (see figure 2). I know that based on this information it would seem that buying regular school clothes would be a cheaper option than school uniforms, and on paper it is. But, trending clothes have a huge impact on the cost of regular school clothes, explained by the following excerpt of an article titled Pros and Cons of School Uniforms. In some cases, the use of school uniforms is more affordable to families because there is not as much pressure to buy expensive, trendy clothing. Uniforms are made to last, and can be washed easily, and frequently. After the initial cost of buying uniforms, there is no need to spend as much money on clothing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Teachability Dilemma of Entrepreneurship Entrepreneurs are a very, or perhaps the most, important boost in our economy. They do not only take the risk for the sake of a business, but also they provide our economy with employment opportunities and culture. A society can only be prosperous only when it rewards and encourages entrepreneurial activity because in fact, it is the entrepreneurs and their activities that are the critical factor for success, prosperity, growth and opportunity in any given economy. Entrepreneurship is not easy and it comes with its own risks and up and downs. On the last decade, entrepreneurship has rose and expanded, with this change and constant expansion, it has changed the rules of entrepreneurship once again. But I certainly believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He or she must accept enough risk to innovate and create, but not so much that the business or activity is not profitable. Entrepreneurs also require certain characteristics that are necessary for success. The characteristics of many entrepreneurs include spontaneous creativity and a willingness to make decisions in the absence of solid data. He or she may be driven by a need to create something new or build something tangible. As new enterprises have low success rates, a person in this role must also have considerable persistence. He or she may have the greatest chance of success by focusing on a market niche either too small or too new to have been dominated by established businesses. One of the disadvantages of being an entrepreneur is that it has a lot of vulnerabilities. For example, entrepreneurs may face social risk if their innovations challenge societal norms, or they may face psychological risk as their hard work affects their families peace of mind. Many find that the independence, notoriety, and feeling of contributing something valuable to society that often come with being an entrepreneur outweigh these dangers. All of this values mentioned above are characteristics required in a great, perhaps on all successful, entrepreneurs. But everybody needs to find the characteristics needed in ... I had done some career planning back in high school, they proceed to give us several personality and trait test. Along with those tests, I also had the ability to go to a mock interview as part of my graduation requirement to receive my high school diploma. Going forward my research efforts mainly entailed going to several different websites and finding out what options I had for jobs. In addition, it helped me to figure out to create a resume paper. The religious town of Sighet has not been raided yet, so they re expecting for the best. The main characters are Elizer and his father. Sadly, the Nazis reach Sighet and gather the Jews. As a child I spent countless hours watching classic films like Jason and the Argonauts or Hercules starring Steve Reeves. I d like to begin by comparing a few pieces of art that I recently discovered at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology. I ve selected two pieces of art, one from the Roman and the other from the Greek collection. Each of the pieces symbolize death and sacrificing. Vastly different in texture and design each piece connects feasting and the celebration of life to sacrificing. First, Greek piece is a Terracotta Votive Pinax, 450 425 BC and the Roman piece is a Umbro Etruscan Terracotta, 3rd BC. Drawn into a high plateau in Peru s Nazca Desert, a group of ancient designs stretching more than fifty miles has astounded archaeologists for decades. Along with simple lines and geometric shapes, drawings of animals, birds and humans have also been made, some measuring six hundred feet across. From their colossal size, the drawings can only be viewed and appreciated from way up in the air and there is no evidence that the Nazca people invented flying machines. According to ancient astronaut theorists, the figures were used as guidelines for spaceships as they came in for landing, and the lines served as runways. (listverse.com). This rendition of Turandot was produced by Franco Zeffirelli, and directed by Andris Nelsons. In this beautiful performance of Turandot, we see Maria Guleghina as Princess Turandot, Mariana Poplavskaya as Lui and Calaf as play by Marcello Giodani. With all of these talented actors and show personnel, this production remains one of the best known film adaptations of Turandot. The composer of Turandot is Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini, who was born on December 28, 1858 in the small town of Lucca Italy. Puccini came from 5 generations of musicians and began writing operas at the age of 21. His realistic verismo style, which means truth or reality in Italian, allowed him to identify with his characters in a realistic way and his operas reflect real life situations. Puccini liked to write operas with heroines rather than heroes. His operas almost always include a death for the sake of love. Despite his operatic genius, Puccini only wrote ten operas in his lifetime. He died on November 22, 1924 at the age of 66. At the time of his death, he was only one act short of completing Turandot. His close friend and fellow composer, Arturo Toscanini, finished Turandot shortly after his death. The On Liberty By John Stuart Mills ON LIBERTY In John Stuart Mills profound work, On Liberty he preaches against the conformity of the nations and outwardly encourages and restlessly defends voice of the individual. The philosopher expresses the importance of individuality by warning against forces such as the government and other citizens silencing their opinion. Though Mill s gives due recognition to virtues such as free speech, liberty and individualism he also rightly places limitations on our freedoms to ensure our own freedoms do not infringe upon the ones of those around us. In essence, I believe that Mill s insightfully provides a logical answer to society on how to live and how to allow others to live; freely unless harm will ensue. By Mills statement that, [i]f all mankind minus one were of one opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind one can gain insights into his justification for this argument, the limitations that should rightly be placed on free speech, the assumptions that are the basis for this argument. When Maleficent finds out he has had a child, she curses the baby girl so she will prick her finger on her 16th birthday, causing her to fall into a death like sleep that only true love s kiss will wake her from. Maleficent sneakily watches over the child until her 16th birthday and loves her like her own child. When the 16 year old girl pricks her finger the kiss from her prince does not wake her, but Maleficent s kiss goodbye does. In the movie a lot of special effects are used when Maleficent is using magic or flying, and it is also used when the other magical creatures are in any scene. The music used throughout the movie sets the tone of what is happening and shows emotion. Many of the costumes used are similar to Disney s movie of Sleeping Beauty like Maleficent s all black outfit and horns. The movie Maleficent is a good retelling of the story Sleeping Beauty because of the special effects, music, and costumes used within the film. Special effects play a large role in movies now a days to better the quality and understanding of the movie. In Maleficent special effects are used greatly when Maleficent is flying. When ... As an athletic training student, I hold a lot of responsibilities regarding the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, management, and treatment of these student athletes. Most of my daily activities can be separated into three groups, the pre practice, pre game, during the activity, and post practice and post game. Along with knowing human anatomy, other important characteristics of an athletic trainer are having good communication skills, learning how to properly document medical information, and always be keeping up to date with medical portals such as pyramed. Before the athletes arrive for practices and games, I start off by getting the team a few water coolers and water bottles set up at their designated practice area in order for the players to be properly hydrated. This protein strengthens and supports tissues in the body, such as bone, cartilage, skin, and tendons. Collagen 1 (alpha 1) is the most abundant type of collagen and is vastly distributed in connective tissue, except in hyaline cartilage. Type I collage is found throughout the body in the skin, tendon, vascular, organs, and it is responsible for strength and sturdiness. It is a triple helix formed by two copies of the alpha chain and one copy of the alpha 2 chain. Type II collagen is the main element of cartilage and it is formed by two or more collagens. Osteogenesis imperfect is a connective tissue disorder in which the protein, collagen, has a defective synthesis. This defective synthesis is due to multiple mutations in the collage encoding genes and the severity of this disorder depends on the particular mutation. The genetic defect affects the production and formation of collagen 1. The four subtypes of osteogenesis imperfect are Type 1 OI, Type 2 OI, Type 3 OI, and Type 4 OI. Type 1 OI is the most common and mildest form of this disease. Type 2 OI is the most severe form, and it is fatal. In type 2 OI, the body either produces low quality of collage, or it doesn t produce enough. Type 3 OI is also a severe form, but not fatal. In this type, the body produces enough collage, but poor quality. Type 4 IO is the most flexible form because the symptoms can range from mild to severe. Patients with Type I or Type IV osteogenesis imperfecta can usually inherit a mutation from a parent with the disorder. In some cases, clinical geneticists perform biochemical or molecular tests which can confirm a diagnosis of Osteogenesis imperfect. These tests are thought to detect close to 90% of all collagen ... • 29. Summary Of Mt. Hood, Oregon By Albert Bierstadt Albert Bierstadt was a painter most remembered for his dramatic and large masterpieces that focused on extreme color and contrast, especially with lighting. However, when it comes to his painting, Mt. Hood, Oregon, he tends to defy those preconceived ideas. Painted in the early 1860 s, this painting is representative of Bierstadt s earlier artwork. He uses lighter brushstrokes, a brighter and more monochromatic color palette, and is depicting a minimalist scene in its natural state (Figure 1). The painting is currently displayed at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH, and while it is frequently described as small it is larger than you think. Measuring at fifty one inches by sixty one and a quarter inches leaves the Mt. Hood, Oregon painting seeming small compared to his typical artworks. Due to the smaller size of the painting, one is lead to believe that he did not have access to the supplies or the desire to create a masterpiece of such grand scale such as The Rocky Mountains, one of his most notable pieces. Bierstadt painted Mt. Hood, Oregon by sketching the location on a canvas and then painting it with oil paint. When analyzing the painting up close you are able to see the level of transparency in the paint, resulting in sections of the canvas to shine through the color (Figure 2 and 3). In order to achieve this look it is likely that Albert Bierstadt used large amounts of turpentine to thin out the medium of oil paint, resulting in a transparent color. ... Christians, Jews, and the Black Plague Relations between the Christians and Jews of medieval Europe were always influenced by their unequal social and economic statuses and the religious competition that existed between them. While the Jews served a purpose in the Christian religion, this purpose meant that the more populous Christians that had come to dominate Europe only tolerated the Jews. No premise of equality existed, and the Jews came to depend on relationships with lower level rulers to secure their relative safety. Rumors persisted that Jews had poisoned wells, and the Jews were often the targets of violence that the Christians seemed exceedingly willing to deliver. One of the most documented Christian responses to the plague was the rise of the flagellants. A spontaneous and unsanctioned movement, the flagellants sought to ward off the plague by physically punishing themselves for the sins that had caused God to send the Black Death to punish them (Tuchman, 1978, p. 125). Flagellant processions would typically remain on the move, marching from town to town, while twice a day beating themselves with whips and other instruments until they drew blood (Slack, 1988, p. 439). They were also known for their singing of religious songs while marching and whipping themselves, which ran counter to the official Catholic Church position and caused church officials no small amount of trouble (Lerner, 1981, p. 535 36). The official reasoning by the Catholic Church was that the flagellant movement was an unnecessary and wrong reaction to the Black Death, since there were equal death rates among Christians and Jews. The flagellants were also part of a Christian movement known as premillennialism (Lerner, 1981, 534). The extensive deaths in Europe cause many Christians to believe that the second coming of Christ was near, which would result in the end of the world. This interest in the events that were prophesied to happen just before the end of the world ran very high during this time. This interest was also a large influence responsible for the rise of groups like the flagellants (Lerner, 1981, 538). Another common occurrence in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And concentrate on subtractions from zeroes. Everything started great, the kids were exiting, as of they are going out of the room. We sat down in the hall and it was not comfortable. The kids were sitting near the wall, I was sitting in front of them in the middle of the walking area. As of kids were sitting on the floor and me too, we were several times distracted by other kids or adults, who was walking through the hall, it was always disturbing us. I started my lesson with math solving problem and my students easy were able to figure out what operation that needs to do. They all said subtraction. I said great. Then, I asked them to solve this problem independently. Student 1, was just sitting, Student 2 used her fingers to count, Student 3 did very fast, but not correctly and Student 4 just copied that incorrect answer. Then, I asked to share their answers. Student 3 raised her hand and said, it was easy, we have 0 9, will be 9. Then 0 5, will be 5. Then 4 2 will be 2. So, the answer is 259. Langston Hughes Remembers a Night at Church with his Aunt The author Langston Hughes reminisces about when his Aunt took him to church when he was thirteen years old; Every night for weeks there had been much preaching, singing praying, shouting, and some very hard sinners had been brought to Jesus (1059). At the end of revival the children were asked to approach the mourners bench To be saved! Langston s Aunt told him about how when you were saved something happened to you inside. (1059) So Mr. Hughes went to the bench with the fellow children in the church, the preacher preached, hymns were sung they keep saying wont you come, Young lambs to Jesus? One by one the children rose to Jesus. Leaving Langston Hughes and another boy Westley; the boy Westley got tired of sitting on the bench he stood up to be saved. Langston Hughes sat there waiting for Jesus he too grew tired of sitting on the bench and he figured that Jesus didn t smite Westley for lying; so he stood up. Later in the night he cried; his aunt told his uncle that he was crying because of the Holy Ghost in his life; when instead he was crying because he questioned if God existed or not for he did not come for him when he was on the bench with the other children. He didn t believe there was a Jesus anymore. This is an appeal what happened to Langston Hughes it plays on the emotions to be saved by god to stand up and be saved. Despite her parent s wishes, and her mother s pressure; Tan eventually switched her life course when she changed her majors in college to English and Linguistics (2). Tan, today, is considered and important voice among the groups of hyphenated Americans. (Stein 3) Two Kinds, in fact, was one of the stories in the short series. The And Managing Student Behavior Essay PBIS and Managing Student Behavior Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a multi tier strategy based on student outcome as opposed to a set curriculum. In a classroom it is based on 6 essential practices, but the strategies can, and should be implemented school wide for maximum benefit. The following will offer some history on PBIS, a breakdown of the 6 essential classroom practices, and a brief description of what a three tier strategy would encompass. History Positive Behavior Interventions and Strategies (PBIS) was developed in the 1980 s in response to a need for a more effective management of students with Behavior Disorders (BD) behaviors (Sugai Simonsen, 2012). Research done at the University of Oregon found that emphasis should be placed on behavior prevention, and social skill instruction in a school wide system (Sugai Simonsen, 2012). In 1997 with the revision of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) a grant was included to establish a National Center on Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. The national center was established with the goal of providing technical assistance to schools for the support of students with BD (Sugai Simonsen, 2012). PBIS has its roots in intervention for students with BD, but a shift has taken place to PBIS being a school wide behavioral support. PBIS is now defined as evidence based interventions to achieve academically and behaviorally important outcomes for all students (Sugai Simonsen, 2012). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
