The document classifies and describes different types of reflexes. Reflexes are involuntary motor responses initiated by stimuli to peripheral receptors. Reflexes are classified clinically by the structures stimulated (superficial, deep, visceral, pathological), anatomically by the pathway involved (segmental, intersegmental, suprasegmental), and functionally (flexor, extensor, righting, postural, withdrawal). Reflex arcs can involve different numbers of synapses (monosynaptic, bisynaptic, polysynaptic). Reflexes can also be unconditioned or innate, or conditioned and acquired through learning.
