Methods Of Software Development Project Management
There are several methods of software development, out of these most practically used are agile
methodology and the plan driven approach this is a summary of both the approach and their
comparison and compatibly with the user requirement for the better results and hybrid technique
which resulted in combination of agile methodology and plan driven method with a comprehensive
spectrum of tools and options
Agile development is a methodology, it s not a tool, it s not the exact way of communicating, it s a
whole methodology, it s also a type of project management, but it s really a way of working as a team,
there are several ways of executing the agile methodology agile is a way of executing the software ...

It s very collaborative process, for a team following the agile methodology for developing an
application, everybody should be collaborating with each other at every stage of developing the
application, these are the key points about agile methodology, with the agile methodology the changes
can be made without getting the entire program rewritten, this approach not only reduced over heads it
also helps in upgrading of programs, the other advantage of agile methodology it ensures that bugs are
caught and eliminated in the development of each cycle and the project is tested every time. There are
different types of agile methodologies they are XP (extreme process), Scrum, Lean software
development, AUP (agile unified process), FDD (feature driven development) all these agile
methodologies are customer driven and are light weight approaches, they are collocated and
collaborative for developers, in the view of customers this method is dedicated, knowledgeable
,collocated, representative and empowered. Rapid changes in the requirement and need for new
requirements, architecture is designed for only current requirements and architecture may change
accordingly with the change in requirements. Refactoring is inexpensive, so n number of changes can
be made as it doesn t affect the budget, this process is best suited for smaller teams and products, and

Macbeth Diary Entry
Day 1
Today Three strange witches approached me when Banquo and I were coming back from battle. When
they approached me they told me that I Macbeth shall be named Thane of Cawdor and they also told
me that I will be king of scotland.... But how! Will something happen to king duncan. I m not sure if I
believe what they have told me. What would happen to Duncan that would put me in power? I shouldn
t focus too much on the witches because their witches for crying out loud they re probably crazy for
all I know. But enough about that we put down the rebellion at Cawdor today.Today s was an alright
day because we beat the rebellion at cawdor but I just keep thinking about what the witches say.. Who
am I kidding me thane of cawdor or king, as if. Only a madman would believe three crazy witches that
approached them outta nowhere I need to quit thinking something that great would happen .
Day 2
Ross met with duncan, and duncan had made me thane of cawdor! This is absolutely great I am
speechless all my hard work is finally paying off, but since this happened does that mean that what the
witches told me earlier is true? Because if so how would I Macbeth became king of scotland since
duncan is king is something going to happen to him..... ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Computer Literacy Is The Level Of Proficiency And Fluency
1. Explain computer literacy.
Computer literacy is the level of proficiency and fluency someone possesses amid computers.
Nevertheless, computer literacy commonly implies to the capability to manipulate applications rather
than to program. Entities who are vastly computer literate are from time to time identified as power
users (Computer Literacy , n.d.). Computers have affected each of our lives: the manner by how we
work, the manner of how we learn, the manner in which we live, yet even the means we play. It
virtually is unfeasible to progress complete a single day without coming upon a computer, an
apparatus reliant on a computer, information created by a computer, or a word that was established or
whose implication has transformed with the introduction of computers. However, because of the
importance of computers in today s world, it is essential to be computer literate.
2. Explain computer algorithms and its significance.
A computer algorithm is a method or formula for deciphering a problem, based on accomplishing a
sequence of quantified actions. A computer program can be regarded as an intricate algorithm. In
mathematics and computer science, an algorithm ordinarily entails a lesser technique that answers an
intermittent question. Algorithms are commonly managed thru every area of information technology.
A search engine algorithm, selects search strings of keywords and functions as input, explores its
linked database for applicable web pages, and returns findings. An

Essay On The Montgomery Bus Boycott
Imagine being deprived of your human rights just because of a difference of skin color. This is how
man African American people felt during the times of segregation in the 1955. One the thousand ways
African Americans fought back was the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The bus boycott was made
successful by the will and perseverance of the African Americans in the late 1950 s. Furthermore to
explain how the will and perseverance of the African Americans in the late 1950 s made the boycott
successful is stated by Buggey J., Danzer, G., Mitsakos, C., Risinger C. America! America!, The bus
driver told Rosa Parks that she would have to give up her seat to a white person. She refused and was
arrested. The next evening, black leaders, many of them church ministers, met to ... Show more

For months, the buses were almost empty because most of the riders had been black. Then, the boycott
spread to white businesses in downtown Montgomery. This example boldly illustrates how the start of
the bus boycott and the confidence that it will be successful helped the African Americans persevere
through the boycott. To continue, another strong example to show how the perseverance made the bus
boycott successful is the progress it made in a short amount of time. One boldly put together piece of
evidence from Excerpt from a letter written by Jo Ann Robinson, May 21, 1954, shows the progress of
the boycott, There were several things the Council asked for: 1. A city law that would make it possible
for Negroes to sit from back toward front, and whites from front toward back until all the seats are
taken. 2. That Negroes not be asked or forced to pay fare at front and go to the rear of the bus to enter.
3. That busses stop at every corner in residential sections occupied by Negroes as they do in
communities where whites reside. We are happy to report that busses have begun stopping at more
corners now in some sections where Negroes live than

Informative Speech On Mental Health
Attention Getting Device: All day, every day, life is like this. Fear. Apprehension. Avoidance. Pain.
Anxiety about what you said. Fear that you said something wrong. Worry about others disapproval.
Afraid of rejection, of not fitting in. Anxious to enter a conversation, afraid you ll have nothing to talk
about. Hiding what s wrong with you deep inside, putting up a defensive wall to protect your secret .
You are undergoing the daily, chronic trouble of living with this mental disorder we call social anxiety
disorder. How many of you know someone or have heard of mental health disorders such as anxiety,
depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, or personality disorders? Thesis/Central Purpose (ie. The
purpose of my speech is to) The purpose of my speech is to teach you about mental health so that you
know how to look out for the signs. I d like to get more specific and discuss mental illnesses in
schools. Justification/Why should we listen?: For years, mental health has had a stigma surrounding it.
In different cultures and religions, mental illnesses were thought to be a punishment or a demonic
possession. Currently, the taboo has not gone away and people are still suffering. More often times
than not, people are underdiagnosed, dismissed, or the stigma creates too much societal pressure to
say anything. Credibility/Why should we listen to YOU?: I have struggled with anxiety as long as I
can remember. When I was in second grade, I was diagnosed with social

Grandpa Interview
This is my Grandfather Lowell Fetters, my mothers father. He was drafted into the war at 19 in 1967
and shipped off to war at 20 in 1968 a year after graduating from Ludington high school. He is now 69
years old. He lived in Ludington Michigan with his wife before we were involved in the war. He now
lives in Muskegon Michigan He served in the war, and now he just plays pool with his friends. I
interviewed him on February 28th over the phone, we talked for 30 minutes. I asked my grandpa some
questions regarding his experiences in war, he had a very difficult time, he are some of the things he
shared with me. I asked him how his family and friends reacted when he told them he was going off to

have gotten out faster. It was hard for me to think of what what to ask my grandpa, I didn t want to
upset him, but i needed to get good information out, i decided what to ask him by asking questions
about his personal experiences and what he thought of the war in all. My grandpa seemed really
scared and worried about the questions i asked he was emotional and didn t seem like he wanted to
talk about it but he did anyway and I m very happy he shared this with me. I fell that the most
meaningful aspects of this interview were my personal questions. When I asked him about his

Wedding Tips For A Wedding
Getting engaged is a wonderful time in every woman s life; however the excitement can quickly be
overpowered by stress. In the United States the average cost of a wedding is $26,000! Personally,
when I learned how expensive weddings are, I immediately began brainstorming on how I could
shrink this number. One big way to save some money on your big day is to plan your wedding
yourself rather than spending thousands of dollars on a professional wedding planner. This essay is for
brides everywhere who wish to successfully plan their wedding on their own. First things first, you
need to decide on a month which you desire to have your wedding. This is an important part of
planning your wedding because you need to plan things months in advance and setting a general date
will help you do so. About nine months before the wedding you should begin to look at wedding
invitation designs and browse through wedding dress photos. Also, if you plan on having an
engagement party send out these invitations and decide on décor and snacks for the party. Engagement
parties are not generally for gift giving; however, if you do wish to receive gifts on this day, it is
important that you begin a wedding registry so guests can buy you what you would like. After your
engagement party you should begin your wedding guest list and decide who will be in your wedding
party. Last, but definitely not least, reserve your wedding venue! It is important to reserve your
wedding venue as soon as possible, so

Surrogacy Should Be Allowed In The United States
Surrogacy should be allowed in every state in the United States because it is some womens only
option to have a child. The Akanksha Clinic in Gujarat has drawn praise from Oprah Winfrey for
making mother dreams come true. Left unsaid is that these dreams come at a cost: surrogate mothers
from very poor are forced to live in rooms with 10 to 15 other mothers, away from families, for most
of their pregnancy (Persons, Not Products). Women are so desperate to have children they will go
under terrible living conditions to bear a child for another woman. Some women have illnesses where
they are not able to have children, but still want children. If a woman is having a hard time conceiving
chances are she has an illness that prevents her from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government does not always make surrogacy safe and surrogacy can be a very dangerous thing.
Surrogacy can get very dangerous because there is always risks for pregnancies and when something
bad does happen the families will argue and it will be a bad situation which is why it should not be
allowed at all (Surrogate Motherhood). Surrogacy should not be allowed at all it is a danger to our
world and is offensive to religions. Surrogacy is bad for children. When kids grow up they will be
confused on who their real parents are. It can be very scarring for children because they will wonder
why that would ever have to happen and how it happened. Surrogacy can be very awkward for
children when they grow up. It can lead to a very confusing relationship between the child and the
mother and no child should ever have to go through a damaging experience like that (Surrogate
Motherhood). The act of surrogacy is against many religions beliefs and many religions do not like
surrogacy happening around the world. Church leaders share these concerns and are working to stymie
commercial surrogacy legislation in states across the nation (Persons, Not Products). Surrogacy is
especially bad because women who bear another child for another woman or person can get money
from it and getting money from another human being for a child is offensive. Churches are against all
kinds of surrogacy and think it is against the bible. They are especially against commercial surrogacy
because it is like slavery. Humans should not be given to another family involving money it is very
inhumane. The Roman Catholic Church is just one of many religions that does not like the idea of
surrogacy. It is very inhuman, even if it does not involve money. Commercial surrogacy can be found
to be very offensive because a woman should never bear another child for a different family

The Culture Of The Gullah People
Culture is an ever changing, ever evolving entity. Culture is something that for many is taken for
granted as they have always had that connection to their past. It is not easily definable but it is an
essential part of every nation s composition. American culture itself is a conglomeration of several
different cultures that make up a unique and separate identity from each of the cultures it draws from.
Everyone knows about American Southern culture whether their perceptions of it is accurate or not.
Fewer know about African American culture in the south. Many people including some African
Americans themselves are not aware of the aspects of African culture that were preserved and its
influence on American culture as a whole. One major way in which this type of influence can be seen
is in the culture of the Gullah people. YOUR INTRODUCTION DEFIENTLY GRABBED MY
ATTENTION Who are the Gullah people? The Gullah are an existing community of people who
descended from West African slaves and have managed to retain important aspects of their African
culture. These people can be found from the coast of North Carolina to Florida otherwise known as
the Low Country. Gullah people are also referred to as Gullah/Geechee or Geechee. The main
distinction between Gullah people and Geechee people is that Gullah refers to those from the
Carolinas and Geechee is used for those from Florida and Georgia. This is in reference to the
Ogeechee River, therefore different terms were used to describe

Warren s Theory Of A Fetus Essay
According to Warren, a fetus is not considered a person. She argues that there are two senses of
human: the biological sense and the moral sense. She states that a fetus is not a human in the moral
sense of things. She argues that a fetus, whatever stage of its development, satisfies none of the basic
criteria of personhood, and is not enough like a person to be granted even some of the same rights on
the basis of this resemblance. Warren states that a fetus s potential personhood is not a threat to the
morality of abortion since the rights of potential people are invariably overridden in any conflict with
the moral rights of actual people. She argues that in order for a person to be a member of a moral
community there are five traits that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Warren has the reader think of a space explorer falling into the hands of an alien culture scientist who
is trying to replicate hundreds of humans by breaking the body of the space explorer and using his
genetic code. If executed correctly, the newly created society would have the potential to have all of
the skills, knowledge, and abilities of the original space explorer classifying them as a person. These
newly created men would be potential persons. However, the space explorer has the choice to escape
taking the potential of these people away as the explorer has his own right to life that outweighs the
right of the potential lives since they are only potential and not persons, leaving them no right. The
space explorer obtains no moral obligation to sacrifice his life, or stay in captivity for even a day, for
the creating of any number of potential people. Warren wants one to understand that the right to life of
one person outweighs the right to life of any number of potential people. Although a fetus is a
potential person, Warren still holds that abortion is acceptable in all situations. As we saw through
Warren s space explorer example, the rights of the women will always outweigh the right of the fetus
because the women is a person and a fetus is only a potential person. Because the fetus is a potential
person, it has no right to life and not allowing

Relationship Between Prison And Prison
How to go Along to get Along in Prison.
Prison life Nobody ever really wants to go to prison. Within the prison walls there is a certain
subculture involving norms, values, language, codes, and other miscellaneous items that the inmates
learn or use in order to survive prison (state or private for profit prisons). One of the goals for prison is
to protect the public while punishing the criminal by incarceration and then hopefully rehabilitate
them at the end of their sentence to become productive citizens in the free world.
Prison Subculture The words prison subculture describe the language, norms, beliefs, attitudes, values
and lifestyles of the inmates within a certain prison (Prisons: 2015). Research shows that many prison
subcultures in the United States are remarkably comparable to each other. It is believed that the
subculture developed in order for inmates to cope with being locked up for years at a time. When an
inmate enters a new prison or even their first prison it is not the guards that they have to worry about,
it is the other inmates. This is where the word prisonization comes in meaning that the inmate will
learn the subculture of the prison that they are in (Prison: 2015). Within hours/days of arriving at their
new cell the new inmates might be taken in by prison families depending on the intake procedures for
the prison. For some inmates this is a comfort to know they won t be alone and they have someone to
watch their back. These

The Watson Brake Mound Complex, located in Louisiana, has been dated to 5400 years ago. This
mound building tradition in the reaches far back into the Archaic. At Watson Brake, there is no
evidence of cultivation, no evidence of long distance trade, yet here sits the oldest mound structure of
a more hunter gather type of society with no influence of the Mesoamerican sphere, (Pringle,1).
Another site lies in Poverty Point, Louisiana, about 3500 years old, a record of 800 years of mound
building occurring in the Late Archaic. There is little artefactual evidence of material goods such as
pottery, and cultivation tools that lead to an agricultural society with the exception of unique clay balls
thought to be used for cooking are found here, which show no impact made by Mesoamerica,
(Ortmann, 675).
In discussions of mound building in the region, the Adena and Hopewell cultures of the Woodland
period, starting around 1000 BCE, cannot be forgotten. Preceding the Mississippian culture, these
groups have set a foundation that the Mississippian culture could have easily followed. Their earthen
works stretch all the way to Crystal River, Florida, (Kemp, vii) , are seen in the Appalachian
Mountains, and most notably along the Ohio Valley, (Bernardini,331). All these sites hold the

Why Do Drugs Increase The Smooth ER In Cells
drugs increase the smooth ER in cells, which increases the detoxification rate, which increases a
person s tolerance to a drug. Which means that a person would have to increase the dosage each time
in order to get the same original effect. The increase of the smooth ER as a result of abusing a drug
can lead to increased tolerance of other useful drugs, such as antibiotics. Storing calcium ions is
another function of the smooth ER. These calcium ions can be used to trigger the contraction of
muscle cells by being pumped in and out of the ER lumen. The release of calcium ions can also
stimulate other responses in different cell types, like secreting new protein vesicles. A function of the
rough ER is to make phospholipids and membranes and for

Cycling Advantages
Benefits of Cycling
Although cycling is not the popular choice among people, there is no doubt that it offers more health
benefits than other modes of transportations. An assessment done by the American College Health
Association reported that roughly 53% of students were not engaging in the daily recommended
amount of exercise (Bopp 359). To add to that, something that always comes to mind when thinking
about college and health is the infamous Freshmen 15. In the midst of their busy lives with classes,
friends, and extra curricular activities, many students, particularly freshmen, are unable to find the
time to work out. EZ Bike is a great way to help students incorporate a little more physical activity in
their day while obtaining utility to get to places faster. A university survey shows that roughly one
third of USC students did not even exercise for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes any day of week (
Healthy). By using a bike to ride around campus, students could easily obtain 20 to 30 minutes of
exercise each day without even having to go to the gym.
It is true that the implementation of a bike share program will not completely solve the problem of
college obesity or the Freshmen 15, but at the least, it can increase levels of physical activity and
promote fitness. By physically having EZ Bike and its stations on USC s campus, it serves as a trigger.

able to prompt action.

Speech On Monkey Mind
This surprisingly simple yet powerful trick will calm your monkey mind anytime, anywhere, with
little effort
Ever observed monkeys?
You would have noticed them jabbering non stop, slinging between tree branches, jumping, scratching
their body, combing the hair of other monkeys and what not.
The chances of finding them staying still are very rare. Maybe, when you offer them bananas, they
might calm down a bit. But soon they would become restless and fidgety.
Incidentally, you too have an in built monkey.
A monkey that s invisble, and dictactes your actions, your feelings, your happiness, and ultimately
your life.

make users feel relaxed and happy, with pleasant hallucinations which is the main reason of LSD
abuse. However, a bad trip can make users feel agitated and confused, with frightening hallucinations.

Secondary School Of Computing And The Arts
Introduction
Lostcause secondary school of computing and the Arts has asked us to design a new computer class
room to support both subjects of computing and arts, and since both arts and computing are both
excellent standard, we would need to match its excellent status. This would have a room where half of
the room which would be specialised in both specified, where if it was for arts, there would be added
software like Photoshop, and other editing software. I would say having one half of the room for arts
and the other half computing make sense because students will know where to find themselves for
specified subjects. Or they can be mixed but as long as there is specific software being added.
In this assignment, we would need to look ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
User requirements
In this section, we shall be talking about what is required to have an appropriate ICT solution for
computing and arts class. This will cover what is needed, what hardware and software are needed.
What needed/ specific computers/specific devices
There will be a lot needed into making the class to have computers which will support both subjects.
This is because computing and art are different subjects and having to bring both subjects together
could demand a lot. Computers will be the key feature to making this class. When it comes to setting
up the computers, we have a budget of £5500 on each computer.
There is more into art than just having a pen and drawing or painting pictures on a paper. The
technology has advanced and discovered new kind of art within computers. Most of the modern day
computers can support computing and basic art. In order to have a fully functioning computer that can
cover both subjects is having to get suitable software and having the right aspects in a computer. You
don t want to be buying a computer and having to install a software which will reduce the
performance of the computer. It s important to know the aspects of a computer before buying.
The most suitable computers we would recommend are apple based computers, HP, Dell and
Samsung. These are big brands and most reliable. There are more computer companies that are
suitable for both computing and arts but for now we choose to call out the big

Sacrifice Of Iphigenia
Iphigenia has been apart of many mythological stories, showing the harshness of people. The myth of
Iphigenia was said to be that she was sacrificed for the mistake of her father, Agamemnon. He was
setting out to fight in the battle of Troy. The story of Iphigenia represents the sadness and sorrow felt
for her and the identification of the struggle she experienced. Both The Sacrifice Of Iphigenia by
Giovanni Battista Tiepolo and Iphigenia by Alfred, Lord Tennyson use the myth of Iphigenia to
indicate that inhumane, egocentric people will sacrifice others in order to defend themselves. After
analyzing the poem Iphigenia, it can be acknowledged that Alfred Lord Tennyson takes in deep
consideration of Iphigenia s pain. This can be exhibited on line 1 of the poem as Iphigenia says I was
cut off from hope in that sad place (Analysis). The tone of the poem could be utilized as woe and
upsetting, establishing the fact Iphigenia is in distress and needs help. There is little hope,
contemplating the idea nobody will appear to help (Analysis). The quote The stern black bearded
kings, with wolfish eyes, waiting to see me die, is used in terms of her sacrifice, exterminating the
idea of hope for Iphigenia for the time being (Analysis). Alfred, Lord ... Show more content on

The Land Of The Long White Cloud Essay
Aotearoa, The land of the long white cloud , is known today by many people as New Zealand, the
third most beautiful country in the world. If one is planning on moving there or visiting, it definitely a
country that will not disappoint. New Zealand is known for many things, especially their outstanding
food and their successful economic situation. During 800 C.E. a group of people from Polynesia,
made their way over to New Zealand. In the 17th century the same group of Polynesians evolved as
the Maori, a spiritual group. The Maori are responsible for New Zealand s original name Aotearoa,
The land of the long white cloud . However, that name was changed when a Dutch explorer landed on
their land, he changed the name to New Zealand, after a Dutch province. When the Europeans came to
New Zealand, the Maori tribe was pushed out of their homes, farms and businesses. It was not until
1840 that Britain signed the Treaty of Waitangi, which protected the Maori tribe for fear of the
Europeans. New Zealand was a colony governed by the British until 1907. Now the queen of the
United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth, only has a small amount of control over New Zealand. The Maori
culture still exists in New Zealand today. Visitors who go to New Zealand can experience their food,
daily rituals, and song and dance if they would like to learn more about their culture. The New
Zealand rugby team before every game performs the traditional Maori war dance, Kapa Haka, to scare
their opponent. The

primarily due to the increasing importance and share of the service sector in the economies of most

Observation Of The Half Crabs
Observations The half crabs moved much slower in the minimum light environment. Their movements
would be intermittent, and interestingly the half crabs would wander around the centre of the bowl. In
contrast, the half crabs would continuously run in circles around the edges of the bowl in the moderate
and maximum light environments. Both behavioural patterns were observed over the two days and
across the two different groups of half crabs. Conclusion My results showed that the half crabs would
travel a further distance when subject to higher light intensities (such as the maximum light
environment) whereas the half crabs would travel a lesser distance when subject to lower light
intensities (such as the minimum light environment). This proved my hypothesis to be correct as I
predicted that the half crabs will move more quickly when subject to higher light intensities as a
negative phototactic response. Discussion A taxis (plural term taxes) is an innate response in which a
cell or an entire organism responds to an external directional stimulus. A phototactic response would
be a directional response to light sensitivity, therefore a negative phototactic response would cause a
cell or organism to respond my moving away from an external light source. In the half crab, a negative
phototactic response would mean that the crabs instinctively move away from light to seek shade. A
negative phototactic response would allow the crabs to find shelter, which offers them protection

more money in R D, marketing and banking on models to attract new consumers (Trefis Team, 2015).
Harley Davidson s Target Market As discussed from Cheema et al., (n.d.), when the company failed to
specify its target market, it has shifted the focus from old riders (traditional males between the ages of
29 to 55) to young and female riders. The products were also produced differently to meet those needs
(color, size, and height adjustment). Not only this could result in brand loyalty, but gave the company
a strong market position and a unique brand image that nobody else could replace. Marketing, shifting
and adjusting the products to meet the new target market was not a risk free decision, however, this
alternative made it easier for prospective buyers to learn about riding and helping the growth of
motorcycling industry (Trefis Team, 2015). In 2015, the company has planned to invest more in its
customer facing marketing by 65 percent and increase investment in R D by 25 percent, according to
Trefis Team (2015). Moreover, building plants and offering products with reduced tariffs to
developing countries like India would ensure the company more viable to the international market as
well as its market growth.
Consumer Demand and Cost Drivers
In order to satisfy the demand from consumers and cost drivers, a consistent re invention of models is
the best alternative for Harley Davison to effectively and efficiently diversify its products.

Democratic Peace
Paper: Intro. Many different explanations have been brought forth to explain why democracies do not
fight one another . Among academics, the most prominent theories can be divided among three
schools of thought: liberal institutionalist, realist, and liberal constructivist. Beyond academia, often
simplified interpretations of these theories have guided many Great Powers foreign policy decisions.
This paper will first seek to outline what most academics agree to be the empirical correlations
between democracies and war. This paper will then outline and examine the competing theories
behind the Democratic Peace. This paper will argue that although some of the realist critiques are
plausible and should not be entirely dismissed, the liberal constructivist theories offer the most
accurate explanation of why the Democratic Peace exists. This paper will finish by examining the
foreign policy implications of this thesis, with reference to recent and potentially future military
engagements undertaken by today s democratic Great Powers. Despite originally being theorized by

Candle Making Through the Centuries Essays
The Evolution of Candles
For thousands of years, before modern electrical lighting systems were developed, candles existed not
for decoration but for the sole purpose of providing artificial light in millions of homes.
Here s a brief history of how the candle making industry flourished, declined and regained its
prominence through the years.
The Ancient Times
During the ancient civilisation, candles were made from tallow, or animal fat, extracted from cattle
and sheep. The first candles were developed by the ancient Egyptians. These candles, known as
rushlights or torches, had no wicks and burned slowly. The Romans were credited for the first creation
of candles with wicks, the ones that resembled the candles that are used today. ... Show more content

It was in the late 18th century that the business of candle making with the use of the spermaceti, a wax
obtained by crystallising sperm whale oil, significantly flourished. The spermaceti wax, like beeswax,
burned clearly and do not produce foul, acrid odour. Also, the light being generated was significantly
brighter compared to the ones emitted by tallow and beeswax.
The 19th Century
In the 1820s, French chemist Michel Eugene Chevreul discovered a way to extract stearic acid from
animal fatty acids, which lead to the development of stearin wax. This type of wax, which is hard and
durable, is considered a fundamental element in candle making. In fact, the use of the stearin candles
remained popular in Europe until today.
In 1834, inventor Joseph Morgan developed a machine that allowed the constant production of
moulded candles by using a cylinder with a movable piston that ejects candles as they solidified. With
the introduction of this machine, candles became an affordable commodity for the masses.
In the 1850s, the paraffin wax was introduced after chemists learned how to effectively separate the
naturally occurring waxy substance from petroleum. Paraffin, an odourless and bluish white
substance, was considered a helpful element in the candle making process because it burned easily and
continuously. It was also more economical than any other candle fuel.

Power In George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty-Four
Power can be achieved through many different means in order to be successful. Living under the
control of a manipulating party is not the ideal way to live. Control that is obtained and not earned will
never lead to conditions worth living under. If a party obtains the influence over all states of being,
then their power will be quite difficult to destroy for good. People under this supervision can never
fully understand what needs to be done to stop the abuse for power for the reason that they have not
lived independent lives. This sense of powerful influence is what the Party has over the citizens of
Oceania. The Party is able to keep the society in check to its own beliefs through manipulation and the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Jfk Speech
In 1961, John Fitzgerald Kennedy delivered one of the most influential speeches in history.
Throughout his speech, Kennedy employs many rhetorical devices that further his appeal for
unification. Kennedy establishes his credibility as soon as he steps to the podium. For I have sworn
before you and Almighty God... Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States of America, proved
credible and true to the American people through his distinguished leadership. Kennedy discusses the
trials and triumphs of the United States of America in what will go down in history as a great
demonstration of unification. Throughout the text, he emphasizes the theme of patriotism and
greatness as well as prosperity in order to unify the nation through confident eyes. His emotional yet
logical appeal to America s patriotism helps further his argument towards national unification.
Kennedy s use of rhetorical devices allows him to maintain a conversational tone yet a clear and
compelling structure.
Kennedy successfully employs many rhetorical devices into his speech. For example, Kennedy uses
the literary device chiasmus when he utters, ...ask not what your country can do for you ask what you
can do for your country. He employs this literary technique again when he claims, Let us never
negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate. Kennedy most frequently employs anaphora
when he repeats again and again, To those old allies... To those new states... To those people... To
those nations... He uses this anaphoric phrase to employ a rhetorical device while, at the same time,
applying emotional appeal to bring his speech back to the theme of unification. Another example of
anaphora as well as parallelism is when Kennedy repeats the phrase Let both sides... five times. These
rhetorical techniques use repetition and the reversal of certain words/phrases to make Kennedy s
dialect clear and compelling to his audience.
Midway through the speech, Kennedy asks the rhetorical question Can we forge against these enemies
a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all
mankind? Will you join in that historic effort? Kennedy uses this rhetorical question to drive the

Limb Reduction And The Prosthetic Rehabilitation Process
Introduction
There is an estimated 1.9 million people living with an amputated limb in America, each day 500 more
Americans loss a limb (Ziegler et al., 2008). Of those who lose a limb later in life, 60 80% of them
experience phantom limb pain. (Nikolajsen et al., 2001) Phantom limb pain refers to a pain or
sensation that seems to come from the limb that was amputated. ( Nikolajsen et al., 2001) Of those
who are congenital amputees, an estimated 1500 of them are born with upper limb reduction, while
750 of them are born with a lower limb reduction. (Canfield et al, 2006) Limb reduction refers to a
defect during birth that causes a part of a limb or the entire limb to fail to fully form during pregnancy.
( Vasluian et al, 2013) A look within the quality of life of these various forms of amputees may
produce viable information that could be used to assist in the prosthetic rehabilitation process.
With such differences within the amputee community, there could be a possibility of certain factors
uniquely effecting the quality of life before, during, and after prosthetic rehabilitation. Amputees and
prosthetics are often viewed from a general perspective by the public. We often do not look further
then what we see with our eyes, allowing sympathy to take the place of genuine research regarding
amputees and prosthetics. The rehabilitation process for those who require limb prosthesis can be
long, grueling, and emotional taxing (O Keeffe, 2011). The prosthetic rehabilitation

Moreover, in The Three Apples, a man kills his wife due to his suspicion that his wife cheated on him.
The slave who is just a stranger, that the husband believes the wife cheated on him with, remains safe

husbands and their society since even her own father is on her husband s side. After the woman is

Ohio V. United States in Violations from the Constitution
Both the fourth and fifth amendment protect the privacies of individuals from governmental intrusion.
Appellant Boyd complained that she was denied her constitutional right to testify. The right to testify
comes from many amendments and clauses in the constitution such as the due process clauses, the
Fifth, and Fourteenth amendment. The court held that the search for and seizure of evidence within an
accused s possession might well result in compelling the accused to be a witness against himself.
Then, the court reasoned that the search was unreasonable ab initio and it makes it a violation of the
fourth amendment. Justice Black mentioned in his concurrence that if something is obtained illegally,
it cannot be used again the appellant. The Boyd s case was not the only case mentioned in the Mapp v.

The Impact Of Community Service On The Community
Community service is simply defined as non paid work done by an individual, group, or organization
that benefits the community. While community service is commonly interchanged with volunteerism,
these two terms should not be interchanged with each other since the former could be a mandatory
task or requirement in certain situations. These situations include requirements for being granted
citizenship to a country, class projects or requirements, and it can also serve as a corrective sanction
for criminal charges.
Before we discuss the value of community service and its impacts on the individual, let us first look
into the relationship of the individual and to the society. With man being a social being, one can never
separate himself not only from his immediate community but to the larger society as well. Since time
immemorial, man has relied on the various mechanisms of community in order to address his needs
for survival. We can observe man s reliance on the community even dating back to the prehistoric era.
During this time, the primitive communal mode of production was dominant among communities,
where everyone had a part to play in feeding and taking care of the community members. But this was
not only the duties of the community members. While survival was the primary interest during the
primitive communal stage of society, by staying and living within a community, mean learned to
develop values, culture, and of course a set of rules to govern the community and maintain

Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho ( Staring Janet Leigh And...
Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho (staring Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins) is one of the most influential
films in motion picture history. Hitchcock uses cinematography, dialogue, costumes and lighting, as
well as many other film techniques to thrill the audience and keep them on the edge of their seats from
the beginning of the film to the very end. The scenes we have just viewed are a typical example of
Hitchcock s great ability to tell a story in a horrific way and haunt the viewers for a long time after
their experience with the thrilling movie. He is able to get into the audience s minds and scare them
into never wanting to have another shower again. Psycho contains many symbols and techniques that
pushed the limit of acceptable filmmaking in the 1960 s. The film centers on the encounter between a
secretary, Marion Crane (Leigh), who ends up at a secluded motel after embezzling money from her
employer, and the motel s disturbed owner manager, Norman Bates (Perkins), and its aftermath. When
originally made, the film was seen as a departure from Hitchcock s previous film North by Northwest,
having been filmed on a low budget, with a television crew and in black and white. Psycho initially
received mixed reviews, but outstanding box office returns prompted reconsideration which led to
overwhelming critical acclaim and four Academy Award nominations, including Best Supporting
Actress for Leigh and Best Director for Hitchcock. It is one of Hitchcock s best films today.

Choices In John Steinbeck s The Maze Runner
In The Maze Runner, the creators use the plotline of the journey throughout the Maze to prove how we
as humans are left to make many choices and decisions in our lives and those decisions are what
sculpt out whether our path in life will lead us to happiness or helplessness. Choices can influence our
outcomes, and making the right choice in a crucial time will lead you to the success that you are
working for. In the beginning of The Maze Runner, Thomas is unwillingly put into the Glade without
any information as to why he is there and who anyone is. Thomas, as well as anyone who would just
appear in a random place with no memory, was scared and confused. He quickly finds out about the
Runners and the Maze. Thomas, who could not contain his curiosity ... Show more content on

In the end, their freedom represents their journey through the Maze and their rebirth when they
escape. A maze can be used to show confusion and the fact that you don t know where you are going
to end up. They need to face the maze in order to escape into reality and see what is beyond. This
represents their rebirth because they overcame their fears and dangers throughout their journey in the
Maze and finally being out of all the walls that consumed and surrounded them gave the characters a
sense of relief that they didn t have before. Clearly, the choices we choose to make in our lives affect
our outcomes. The Gladers journey throughout the Maze seemed to prove that. Their dramatic rebirth
in the end represents how even with all the hardships they had to face, they still accomplished their
goal. Out of the Maze, they are new people. They no longer have to feel like caged animals with no
say in anything that goes on. This shows that an end of a journey can change someone, sometimes
good and sometimes bad, but in the end you are not who you were when you

Lab Report Physics Paper
Physics Lab Report
How does the thickness of cotton cloth affect the light intensity measured by the Coach Lab light
intensity sensor?
Introduction:
During our physics classes, we have been focusing on astrophysics and specifically on different types
of light, light in space, light intensity and how to detect and measure the light transmitted. Light
intensity is the amount of energy transmitted from a light source and in this lab report I will be
focusing on one particular factor which affects the light intensity measured by the Coach Lab light
intensity sensor.
Aim:
My aim for this lab experiment is to find out how the thickness of cotton cloth affects the light
intensity, which I will be measuring using the Coach Lab sensor.
Hypothesis: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since this graph does not show any outliers, I thought that the line of best fit should be polynomial
since the polynomial curve. I think this because the curve passes through most of the data points and is
the closest R2. These are a bigger difference in the value of 0,02 cm and 0,04 cm. I think this
happened because the holes that were being blocked by the overlapping of the cloth in value 0,04 were
more than in the value of 0,02 cm. The more holes getting blocked by the overlapping of the cloth will
cause the light to not be able to pass through which then causes the results to be low. This is a pattern
that we also can see. Starting form value 0,04 to 0,10 then results do not have as big of a difference as
0,02 and 0,04

Rise Up By Andra Day Analysis
The first lines of Rise Up by Andra Day say You re broken down and tired, of livin life on the merry
go round . These first couple of lines drew my attention because at the moment, I feel like I m living
the same thing over and over again. It s the same thing every day. Go to school, get good grades, go to
the studio, do homework until midnight, get 6 or 7 hours of sleep, then wake up and do everything
over again. The next couple of lines say And you can t find the fighter, but I see it in you so we re
gonna walk it out and move mountains. These words made me think about everything differently. This
year I ve been under a lot of stress pertaining to grades, SATs, scholarships, and applications.
Sometimes I don t know how I m going to fit everything in. There s just not enough time in a day. I
realized that over time, once I get everything done, I will be going to college and then maybe change
the world afterwards.

Analysis of Rumble Fish by S.E. Hinton Essay
Analysis of Rumble Fish by S.E. Hinton
Rumble Fish is a great book for teens to read. It is a book about younger teens joining gangs. The
main character in the book is Rusty James who is a high school boy that is in a gang and likes to get
into fights. Also there is a guy named the Motorcycle Boy who is Rusty s idol. Some minor characters
in the book include Steve who is the best friend of Rusty James, another character is Smokey who is
another good friend of Rusty James, also Biff who wanted to beat up Rusty James because they are in
different gangs, and always are looking to fight each other.
In the story Rumble Fish, Rusty James is a greaser who has a lot of fights in and out of school. He
always sees the Motorcycle Boy and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bad things can happen to you if you don t have a knife in certain situations in his neighborhood. For
example, Rusty was in a fight with Biff and Biff had a knife but Rusty didn t have a knife. Nobody in
his gang had a knife, so Rusty lost. Then he met the Motorcycle Boy and everything was back to
normal until the big fight. Rusty got stabbed with the knife, and knocked out. Usually the Motorcycle
Boy would help him out, but instead he wasn t there, nowhere to be seen. Rusty was put in the hospital
for his stab wound. The main conflict in the story is Rusty James, and his fighting all of the time. It isn
t good for him or his reputation. Rusty usually wins and someone always is looking to beat him at his
own game, which is fighting, Rusty s specialty. The conflict is resolved when Rusty James is in a fight
against another greaser and the Motorcycle Boy isn t there to save Rusty. After all of this happens,
everyone starts making fun of Rusty. The mysterious thing is that the Motorcycle Boy is never seen
again. Now Rusty has no friend s what so ever. And his gang lifestyle did not pay off at all. Instead of
being cool he turned out to be the fool in the story.
I would recommend this book to any teen. It is a great sequal to the Outsiders and has a lot of action in
it. It has the excitement of gangs but there is also a lesson to be learned in the story as well. It does not
set a good example for kids but it is exciting to read about. Over all I

Essay about Dracula vs Van Helsing
Dracula reflects both Bram Stoker s context and his interest in controversial ideas. Use Dracula and
Van Helsing to demonstrate what concepts and concerns have endured and how they have been
represented in both texts.
JUSTIN LIANG
Dracula ( novel) written by Bram stoker is a text which reflects its English Victorian era context,
where gender roles were repressed and science and religion had a conflicting relationship. Van Helsing
(Stephen Summers) is a contemporary reproduction which demonstrates the same concepts and
concerns that have endured but evolved, and so they have been represented for the modern day
audience. The evolution of the concern of Gender roles and the idea of the new woman is very
obvious through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is armed, and ready to hunt the deadliest monsters of Transylvania, something the men in the
novel would not dare to do.
The gothic convention follows the idea that female protagonist needs constant protection and being
rescued by the male is still clearly incorporated in the text. Even though Anna, is depicted as a
beautiful and physically strong girl.she still needs protection by others, but the difference between the
original convention and the contemporary view is that she is not completely weak but not as strong as
the male protagonist, Van Helsing. This reflects the contemporary Van Helsing context.
During the Victorian era, The growth in science and technology was dramatic and challenged religious
theories. One discovery that is eloquently evinced in the story is Darwin s theory of Evolution, which
reflects the novels context as it was a controversial issue of the era. This theory is thought to be the
transformation of populations in the struggle for survival as the ones with the best characteristics will
be more likely to survive, and those desirable traits are likely to be passed off to offspring. Early in the
novel, as Harker becomes more uncomfortable with his lodgings and his host at castle Dracula, he
notes, unless my senses deceive me, the old centuries had, and have, powers of their own in which
mere modernity cannot kill Here, Harker states one of the central concerns of the Victorian Era:

Capital Punishment Of The United States
Capital punishment in United States also titled as decease penalty, which is a permitted verdict in
thirty one states and the American civilian and services lawful systems. Its application is restricted by
the amendment of the eight to intensified killings committed by psychologically competent people.
Capital punishment existed a consequence for numerous misdemeanors under English mutual
regulation, and it was imposed in entire of the early US colonies preceding to the Declaration of
Independence. The procedures of execution and the misconducts subject to the decease consequence

Numerous regions have never had capital penance, one of the example that Michigan, which
eradicated it soon after joining the side of the Union. Article four, Section forty six of Michigan s
fourth part of the Constitution forbids any regulation that provides the consequence of the death. Early
in the 21 century, a lawful amendment projected to permit capital punishment in particular situations

Alaska, eliminated the decease disadvantage prior to statehood.
Within the thirty one states that don t officially prohibit the death penalty, additional three states haven

Leonardo Da Vinci Conflict
Leonardo da Vinci
The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding. (da Vinci)
This quote shows evidence that Leonardo Da Vinci loved to learn and explore. This may explain why
he chose to follow various fields, such as engineering, art, and why people called him a jack of all
trades, master of none ( Leonardo Da Vinci , Authors) (also mentioned below). He created many
paintings and sketches, illuminated the world by creating many statues and buildings as well as
believing in the idea of human flight.
Leonardo da Vinci was a talented sculptor, painter, architect, engineer, and scientist. He was also the
illegitimate son of a Florentine (Italian) notary. This means that he was the child of 2 people that
weren t lawfully married. Leonardo s biggest conflict was probably being interested in many fields

anatomy in multiple dissections, which unfortunately , were put to a rest when the Pope and the Holy
Roman Empire found out about the dissections da Vinci conducted.
Iron rusts from disuse; stagnant water loses its purity and in cold weather becomes frozen; even so
does inaction sap the vigor of the mind. (da Vinci)
Leonardo designed and experimented many in many fields of science and art. For example, the
anatomy, engineering, and the Renaissance style of art. Leonardo da Vinci innovated a way to follow
many fields of science all at once as well as artistry. He created many engineering designs, paintings,
and architectural designs. Leonardo illuminated the workings of the anatomy, made the Renaissance
style of art popular, and his own household

  • 4. Computer Literacy Is The Level Of Proficiency And Fluency 1. Explain computer literacy. Computer literacy is the level of proficiency and fluency someone possesses amid computers. Nevertheless, computer literacy commonly implies to the capability to manipulate applications rather than to program. Entities who are vastly computer literate are from time to time identified as power users (Computer Literacy , n.d.). Computers have affected each of our lives: the manner by how we work, the manner of how we learn, the manner in which we live, yet even the means we play. It virtually is unfeasible to progress complete a single day without coming upon a computer, an apparatus reliant on a computer, information created by a computer, or a word that was established or whose implication has transformed with the introduction of computers. However, because of the importance of computers in today s world, it is essential to be computer literate. 2. Explain computer algorithms and its significance. A computer algorithm is a method or formula for deciphering a problem, based on accomplishing a sequence of quantified actions. A computer program can be regarded as an intricate algorithm. In mathematics and computer science, an algorithm ordinarily entails a lesser technique that answers an intermittent question. Algorithms are commonly managed thru every area of information technology. A search engine algorithm, selects search strings of keywords and functions as input, explores its linked database for applicable web pages, and returns findings. An ... This is how man African American people felt during the times of segregation in the 1955. One the thousand ways African Americans fought back was the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The bus boycott was made successful by the will and perseverance of the African Americans in the late 1950 s. Furthermore to explain how the will and perseverance of the African Americans in the late 1950 s made the boycott successful is stated by Buggey J., Danzer, G., Mitsakos, C., Risinger C. America! Then, the boycott spread to white businesses in downtown Montgomery. This example boldly illustrates how the start of the bus boycott and the confidence that it will be successful helped the African Americans persevere through the boycott. To continue, another strong example to show how the perseverance made the bus boycott successful is the progress it made in a short amount of time. One boldly put together piece of evidence from Excerpt from a letter written by Jo Ann Robinson, May 21, 1954, shows the progress of the boycott, There were several things the Council asked for: 1. A city law that would make it possible for Negroes to sit from back toward front, and whites from front toward back until all the seats are taken. 2. That Negroes not be asked or forced to pay fare at front and go to the rear of the bus to enter. 3. • 9. Wedding Tips For A Wedding Getting engaged is a wonderful time in every woman s life; however the excitement can quickly be overpowered by stress. In the United States the average cost of a wedding is $26,000! Personally, when I learned how expensive weddings are, I immediately began brainstorming on how I could shrink this number. One big way to save some money on your big day is to plan your wedding yourself rather than spending thousands of dollars on a professional wedding planner. This essay is for brides everywhere who wish to successfully plan their wedding on their own. First things first, you need to decide on a month which you desire to have your wedding. This is an important part of planning your wedding because you need to plan things months in advance and setting a general date will help you do so. About nine months before the wedding you should begin to look at wedding invitation designs and browse through wedding dress photos. Also, if you plan on having an engagement party send out these invitations and decide on décor and snacks for the party. Engagement parties are not generally for gift giving; however, if you do wish to receive gifts on this day, it is important that you begin a wedding registry so guests can buy you what you would like. After your engagement party you should begin your wedding guest list and decide who will be in your wedding party. Last, but definitely not least, reserve your wedding venue! It is important to reserve your wedding venue as soon as possible, so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Surrogacy Should Be Allowed In The United States Surrogacy should be allowed in every state in the United States because it is some womens only option to have a child. The Akanksha Clinic in Gujarat has drawn praise from Oprah Winfrey for making mother dreams come true. Left unsaid is that these dreams come at a cost: surrogate mothers from very poor are forced to live in rooms with 10 to 15 other mothers, away from families, for most of their pregnancy (Persons, Not Products). Women are so desperate to have children they will go under terrible living conditions to bear a child for another woman. Some women have illnesses where they are not able to have children, but still want children. If a woman is having a hard time conceiving chances are she has an illness that prevents her from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The government does not always make surrogacy safe and surrogacy can be a very dangerous thing. Surrogacy can get very dangerous because there is always risks for pregnancies and when something bad does happen the families will argue and it will be a bad situation which is why it should not be allowed at all (Surrogate Motherhood). Surrogacy should not be allowed at all it is a danger to our world and is offensive to religions. Surrogacy is bad for children. When kids grow up they will be confused on who their real parents are. It can be very scarring for children because they will wonder why that would ever have to happen and how it happened. Surrogacy can be very awkward for children when they grow up. It can lead to a very confusing relationship between the child and the mother and no child should ever have to go through a damaging experience like that (Surrogate Motherhood). The act of surrogacy is against many religions beliefs and many religions do not like surrogacy happening around the world. Church leaders share these concerns and are working to stymie commercial surrogacy legislation in states across the nation (Persons, Not Products). Surrogacy is especially bad because women who bear another child for another woman or person can get money from it and getting money from another human being for a child is offensive. Churches are against all kinds of surrogacy and think it is against the bible. They are especially against commercial surrogacy because it is like slavery. Humans should not be given to another family involving money it is very inhumane. The Roman Catholic Church is just one of many religions that does not like the idea of surrogacy. It is very inhuman, even if it does not involve money. Commercial surrogacy can be found to be very offensive because a woman should never bear another child for a different family (Surrogate ... • 13. The Culture Of The Gullah People Culture is an ever changing, ever evolving entity. Culture is something that for many is taken for granted as they have always had that connection to their past. It is not easily definable but it is an essential part of every nation s composition. American culture itself is a conglomeration of several different cultures that make up a unique and separate identity from each of the cultures it draws from. Everyone knows about American Southern culture whether their perceptions of it is accurate or not. Fewer know about African American culture in the south. Many people including some African Americans themselves are not aware of the aspects of African culture that were preserved and its influence on American culture as a whole. One major way in which this type of influence can be seen is in the culture of the Gullah people. YOUR INTRODUCTION DEFIENTLY GRABBED MY ATTENTION Who are the Gullah people? The Gullah are an existing community of people who descended from West African slaves and have managed to retain important aspects of their African culture. These people can be found from the coast of North Carolina to Florida otherwise known as the Low Country. Gullah people are also referred to as Gullah/Geechee or Geechee. She states that a fetus is not a human in the moral sense of things. She argues that a fetus, whatever stage of its development, satisfies none of the basic criteria of personhood, and is not enough like a person to be granted even some of the same rights on the basis of this resemblance. Warren states that a fetus s potential personhood is not a threat to the morality of abortion since the rights of potential people are invariably overridden in any conflict with the moral rights of actual people. She argues that in order for a person to be a member of a moral community there are five traits that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Warren has the reader think of a space explorer falling into the hands of an alien culture scientist who is trying to replicate hundreds of humans by breaking the body of the space explorer and using his genetic code. If executed correctly, the newly created society would have the potential to have all of the skills, knowledge, and abilities of the original space explorer classifying them as a person. These newly created men would be potential persons. However, the space explorer has the choice to escape taking the potential of these people away as the explorer has his own right to life that outweighs the right of the potential lives since they are only potential and not persons, leaving them no right. The space explorer obtains no moral obligation to sacrifice his life, or stay in captivity for even a day, for the creating of any number of potential people. Warren wants one to understand that the right to life of one person outweighs the right to life of any number of potential people. Although a fetus is a potential person, Warren still holds that abortion is acceptable in all situations. As we saw through Warren s space explorer example, the rights of the women will always outweigh the right of the fetus because the women is a person and a fetus is only a potential person. • 15. Relationship Between Prison And Prison How to go Along to get Along in Prison. Prison life Nobody ever really wants to go to prison. Within the prison walls there is a certain subculture involving norms, values, language, codes, and other miscellaneous items that the inmates learn or use in order to survive prison (state or private for profit prisons). One of the goals for prison is to protect the public while punishing the criminal by incarceration and then hopefully rehabilitate them at the end of their sentence to become productive citizens in the free world. Prison Subculture The words prison subculture describe the language, norms, beliefs, attitudes, values and lifestyles of the inmates within a certain prison (Prisons: 2015). Research shows that many prison subcultures in the United States are remarkably comparable to each other. It is believed that the subculture developed in order for inmates to cope with being locked up for years at a time. When an inmate enters a new prison or even their first prison it is not the guards that they have to worry about, it is the other inmates. This is where the word prisonization comes in meaning that the inmate will learn the subculture of the prison that they are in (Prison: 2015). Within hours/days of arriving at their new cell the new inmates might be taken in by prison families depending on the intake procedures for the prison. This mound building tradition in the reaches far back into the Archaic. At Watson Brake, there is no evidence of cultivation, no evidence of long distance trade, yet here sits the oldest mound structure of a more hunter gather type of society with no influence of the Mesoamerican sphere, (Pringle,1). Another site lies in Poverty Point, Louisiana, about 3500 years old, a record of 800 years of mound building occurring in the Late Archaic. There is little artefactual evidence of material goods such as pottery, and cultivation tools that lead to an agricultural society with the exception of unique clay balls thought to be used for cooking are found here, which show no impact made by Mesoamerica, (Ortmann, 675). In discussions of mound building in the region, the Adena and Hopewell cultures of the Woodland period, starting around 1000 BCE, cannot be forgotten. Preceding the Mississippian culture, these groups have set a foundation that the Mississippian culture could have easily followed. Their earthen works stretch all the way to Crystal River, Florida, (Kemp, vii) , are seen in the Appalachian Mountains, and most notably along the Ohio Valley, (Bernardini,331). Which means that a person would have to increase the dosage each time in order to get the same original effect. The increase of the smooth ER as a result of abusing a drug can lead to increased tolerance of other useful drugs, such as antibiotics. Storing calcium ions is another function of the smooth ER. These calcium ions can be used to trigger the contraction of muscle cells by being pumped in and out of the ER lumen. The release of calcium ions can also stimulate other responses in different cell types, like secreting new protein vesicles. • 18. Cycling Advantages Benefits of Cycling Although cycling is not the popular choice among people, there is no doubt that it offers more health benefits than other modes of transportations. An assessment done by the American College Health Association reported that roughly 53% of students were not engaging in the daily recommended amount of exercise (Bopp 359). To add to that, something that always comes to mind when thinking about college and health is the infamous Freshmen 15. In the midst of their busy lives with classes, friends, and extra curricular activities, many students, particularly freshmen, are unable to find the time to work out. EZ Bike is a great way to help students incorporate a little more physical activity in their day while obtaining utility to get to places faster. A university survey shows that roughly one third of USC students did not even exercise for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes any day of week ( Healthy). By using a bike to ride around campus, students could easily obtain 20 to 30 minutes of exercise each day without even having to go to the gym. It is true that the implementation of a bike share program will not completely solve the problem of college obesity or the Freshmen 15, but at the least, it can increase levels of physical activity and promote fitness. By physically having EZ Bike and its stations on USC s campus, it serves as a trigger. The myth of Iphigenia was said to be that she was sacrificed for the mistake of her father, Agamemnon. He was setting out to fight in the battle of Troy. The story of Iphigenia represents the sadness and sorrow felt for her and the identification of the struggle she experienced. Both The Sacrifice Of Iphigenia by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo and Iphigenia by Alfred, Lord Tennyson use the myth of Iphigenia to indicate that inhumane, egocentric people will sacrifice others in order to defend themselves. After analyzing the poem Iphigenia, it can be acknowledged that Alfred Lord Tennyson takes in deep consideration of Iphigenia s pain. This can be exhibited on line 1 of the poem as Iphigenia says I was cut off from hope in that sad place (Analysis). The tone of the poem could be utilized as woe and upsetting, establishing the fact Iphigenia is in distress and needs help. There is little hope, contemplating the idea nobody will appear to help (Analysis). If one is planning on moving there or visiting, it definitely a country that will not disappoint. New Zealand is known for many things, especially their outstanding food and their successful economic situation. During 800 C.E. a group of people from Polynesia, made their way over to New Zealand. In the 17th century the same group of Polynesians evolved as the Maori, a spiritual group. The Maori are responsible for New Zealand s original name Aotearoa, The land of the long white cloud . However, that name was changed when a Dutch explorer landed on their land, he changed the name to New Zealand, after a Dutch province. When the Europeans came to New Zealand, the Maori tribe was pushed out of their homes, farms and businesses. It was not until 1840 that Britain signed the Treaty of Waitangi, which protected the Maori tribe for fear of the Europeans. New Zealand was a colony governed by the British until 1907. Now the queen of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth, only has a small amount of control over New Zealand. The Maori culture still exists in New Zealand today. • 25. Observation Of The Half Crabs Observations The half crabs moved much slower in the minimum light environment. Their movements would be intermittent, and interestingly the half crabs would wander around the centre of the bowl. In contrast, the half crabs would continuously run in circles around the edges of the bowl in the moderate and maximum light environments. Both behavioural patterns were observed over the two days and across the two different groups of half crabs. Conclusion My results showed that the half crabs would travel a further distance when subject to higher light intensities (such as the maximum light environment) whereas the half crabs would travel a lesser distance when subject to lower light intensities (such as the minimum light environment). This proved my hypothesis to be correct as I predicted that the half crabs will move more quickly when subject to higher light intensities as a negative phototactic response. Discussion A taxis (plural term taxes) is an innate response in which a cell or an entire organism responds to an external directional stimulus. A phototactic response would be a directional response to light sensitivity, therefore a negative phototactic response would cause a cell or organism to respond my moving away from an external light source. In the half crab, a negative phototactic response would mean that the crabs instinctively move away from light to seek shade. Harley Davidson s Target Market As discussed from Cheema et al., (n.d.), when the company failed to specify its target market, it has shifted the focus from old riders (traditional males between the ages of 29 to 55) to young and female riders. The products were also produced differently to meet those needs (color, size, and height adjustment). Not only this could result in brand loyalty, but gave the company a strong market position and a unique brand image that nobody else could replace. Marketing, shifting and adjusting the products to meet the new target market was not a risk free decision, however, this alternative made it easier for prospective buyers to learn about riding and helping the growth of motorcycling industry (Trefis Team, 2015). This paper will first seek to outline what most academics agree to be the empirical correlations between democracies and war. This paper will then outline and examine the competing theories behind the Democratic Peace. This paper will argue that although some of the realist critiques are plausible and should not be entirely dismissed, the liberal constructivist theories offer the most accurate explanation of why the Democratic Peace exists. Candle Making Through the Centuries Essays The Evolution of Candles For thousands of years, before modern electrical lighting systems were developed, candles existed not for decoration but for the sole purpose of providing artificial light in millions of homes. Here s a brief history of how the candle making industry flourished, declined and regained its prominence through the years. The Ancient Times During the ancient civilisation, candles were made from tallow, or animal fat, extracted from cattle and sheep. The first candles were developed by the ancient Egyptians. These candles, known as rushlights or torches, had no wicks and burned slowly. The Romans were credited for the first creation of candles with wicks, the ones that resembled the candles that are used today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was in the late 18th century that the business of candle making with the use of the spermaceti, a wax obtained by crystallising sperm whale oil, significantly flourished. The spermaceti wax, like beeswax, burned clearly and do not produce foul, acrid odour. Also, the light being generated was significantly brighter compared to the ones emitted by tallow and beeswax. The 19th Century In the 1820s, French chemist Michel Eugene Chevreul discovered a way to extract stearic acid from animal fatty acids, which lead to the development of stearin wax. This type of wax, which is hard and durable, is considered a fundamental element in candle making. In fact, the use of the stearin candles remained popular in Europe until today. In 1834, inventor Joseph Morgan developed a machine that allowed the constant production of moulded candles by using a cylinder with a movable piston that ejects candles as they solidified. With the introduction of this machine, candles became an affordable commodity for the masses. In the 1850s, the paraffin wax was introduced after chemists learned how to effectively separate the naturally occurring waxy substance from petroleum. Paraffin, an odourless and bluish white substance, was considered a helpful element in the candle making process because it burned easily and continuously. It was also more economical than any other candle fuel. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout his speech, Kennedy employs many rhetorical devices that further his appeal for unification. Kennedy establishes his credibility as soon as he steps to the podium. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God... Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States of America, proved credible and true to the American people through his distinguished leadership. Kennedy discusses the trials and triumphs of the United States of America in what will go down in history as a great demonstration of unification. Throughout the text, he emphasizes the theme of patriotism and greatness as well as prosperity in order to unify the nation through confident eyes. His emotional yet logical appeal to America s patriotism helps further his argument towards national unification. Kennedy s use of rhetorical devices allows him to maintain a conversational tone yet a clear and compelling structure. Kennedy successfully employs many rhetorical devices into his speech. For example, Kennedy uses the literary device chiasmus when he utters, ...ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country. He employs this literary technique again when he claims, Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate. Kennedy most frequently employs anaphora when he repeats again and again, To those old allies... To those new states... To those people... To those nations... He uses this anaphoric phrase to employ a rhetorical device while, at the same time, applying emotional appeal to bring his speech back to the theme of unification. Another example of anaphora as well as parallelism is when Kennedy repeats the phrase Let both sides... five times. These rhetorical techniques use repetition and the reversal of certain words/phrases to make Kennedy s dialect clear and compelling to his audience. While community service is commonly interchanged with volunteerism, these two terms should not be interchanged with each other since the former could be a mandatory task or requirement in certain situations. These situations include requirements for being granted citizenship to a country, class projects or requirements, and it can also serve as a corrective sanction for criminal charges. Before we discuss the value of community service and its impacts on the individual, let us first look into the relationship of the individual and to the society. With man being a social being, one can never separate himself not only from his immediate community but to the larger society as well. Since time immemorial, man has relied on the various mechanisms of community in order to address his needs for survival. We can observe man s reliance on the community even dating back to the prehistoric era. During this time, the primitive communal mode of production was dominant among communities, where everyone had a part to play in feeding and taking care of the community members. • 37. Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho ( Staring Janet Leigh And... Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho (staring Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins) is one of the most influential films in motion picture history. Hitchcock uses cinematography, dialogue, costumes and lighting, as well as many other film techniques to thrill the audience and keep them on the edge of their seats from the beginning of the film to the very end. The scenes we have just viewed are a typical example of Hitchcock s great ability to tell a story in a horrific way and haunt the viewers for a long time after their experience with the thrilling movie. He is able to get into the audience s minds and scare them into never wanting to have another shower again. Psycho contains many symbols and techniques that pushed the limit of acceptable filmmaking in the 1960 s. The film centers on the encounter between a secretary, Marion Crane (Leigh), who ends up at a secluded motel after embezzling money from her employer, and the motel s disturbed owner manager, Norman Bates (Perkins), and its aftermath. When originally made, the film was seen as a departure from Hitchcock s previous film North by Northwest, having been filmed on a low budget, with a television crew and in black and white. Psycho initially received mixed reviews, but outstanding box office returns prompted reconsideration which led to overwhelming critical acclaim and four Academy Award nominations, including Best Supporting Actress for Leigh and Best Director for Hitchcock. It is one of Hitchcock s best films today. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Holistic Business Problem BUSINESS ETHICS Provide credible responses to a holistic business problem where industry conditions, business strategy, financial outcomes, marketing approaches, and human resource management policies must be taken into account together with considerations of ethics and CSR. A holistic business problem with ethical implications can occur within the overall proposal process. Timken, particularly due to its minority position within the European market, has a particular interest in the operations of Rulmenti Grei. These operations of Rulmenti Grei can provide Timken with operational efficiencies to better compete with its European counterparts. It is through this desire that ethical considerations occur. As the case indicates, Rulmenti Grei provides Timken with a broader more diversified product offering. The European consumer likes to purchase an array of products from a single provider. This is in stark contrast to the American market that prefers the niche companies who specify in a particular ball bearing. This contrast in consumer preferences creates ethical issues for Timken. For one, in order to better position itself in the bidding process. Management may overstate or over emphasize the financial prowess of the company. Introduction: During our physics classes, we have been focusing on astrophysics and specifically on different types of light, light in space, light intensity and how to detect and measure the light transmitted. Light intensity is the amount of energy transmitted from a light source and in this lab report I will be focusing on one particular factor which affects the light intensity measured by the Coach Lab light intensity sensor. Aim: My aim for this lab experiment is to find out how the thickness of cotton cloth affects the light intensity, which I will be measuring using the Coach Lab sensor. Hypothesis: ... I think this because the curve passes through most of the data points and is the closest R2. These are a bigger difference in the value of 0,02 cm and 0,04 cm. I think this happened because the holes that were being blocked by the overlapping of the cloth in value 0,04 were more than in the value of 0,02 cm. The more holes getting blocked by the overlapping of the cloth will cause the light to not be able to pass through which then causes the results to be low. This is a pattern that we also can see. Even though Anna, is depicted as a beautiful and physically strong girl.she still needs protection by others, but the difference between the original convention and the contemporary view is that she is not completely weak but not as strong as the male protagonist, Van Helsing. This reflects the contemporary Van Helsing context. During the Victorian era, The growth in science and technology was dramatic and challenged religious theories. One discovery that is eloquently evinced in the story is Darwin s theory of Evolution, which reflects the novels context as it was a controversial issue of the era. This theory is thought to be the transformation of populations in the struggle for survival as the ones with the best characteristics will be more likely to survive, and those desirable traits are likely to be passed off to offspring.
