The Hobbit Character Analysis
The Hobbit is a fantasy novel, by J.R.R. Tolkien that tells the story of an unexpected story. Rather than
being about a main character who is brave and noble, this story is about Bilbo Baggins, a predictable,
mild mannered hobbit. He lives in his cozy home and avoids anything out of the ordinary until he is
presented with the opportunity of an adventure with Gandalf the wizard along with 13 dwarves. The
goal is to take back the homeland of the dwarves from the dragon, Smaug, who has attacked and taken
over. The journey entails mountains, forests, and creatures such as trolls, goblins, elves, and more.
And even though no one sees much potential in the seemingly weak hobbit, Gandalf sees traits of a
hero within Bilbo. This journey results in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point in the novel, the narrator describes, On they went, Gollum flip flapping ahead, hissing
and cursing; Bilbo behind going as softly as a hobbit can (85). Once Gollum gets angry, Bilbo slips on
the ring and becomes aware of its power invisibility. He takes advantage of this and follows Gollum
until navigates his way back to the dwarves. This demonstrates Bilbo s cleverness because it shows his
ability to quickly read a situation. He has to think on his feet and independently if he is to return to the
others. Bilbo has never been put in a situation where he has to quickly think on his own quite like this,
so clearly, he has exhibited cleverness which has commenced his transformation. Through his
experience in Mirkwood, Bilbo exhibits selflessness, which continues his transformation. In this
episode, Bilbo and the dwarves enter the dark forest of Mirkwood and encounter giant spiders they
have to fight off. The spiders entrap the dwarves in their silk, leaving Bilbo (with the ring) to find a
way to save everyone. Bilbo shows his selflessness at this point when the novel says, Bilbo saw that
the moment had come when he must do something. (159) and then later continues to say, In this way,
[Bilbo and Fili, who he had just rescued] rescued Kili, Bifur, Bofur, Dori, and Nori (162). This shows
Bilbo s selflessness because he s so determined to rescue the other dwarves and he once again has to

Real Estate Data Set
This task involves trying to give an educated guess on a linear regression model for pricing real estate
using a real facts date set using numbers and facts. Normally two approaches are used for valuing a
real estate property: income and sales comparison. The sales assessment approach values a real estate
property based on sale prices of similar properties. In this case the properties with familiar
individuality are basically on the same price level, it would be typical to use a linear regression model
to complete this demonstration. Our team will examine the significance of numerous independent
variables to a real estate value. Two important strategies to regression testing is to run all test, and run
a subset of the test based on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The correlation is 41% between Bdrm and Size. We have concluded that there is no problem of
multicollinearity in the data. We also found that Price and Size have relatively large scales compared
with other variables. So it is natural to consider the logarithmic form of these two variables. We will
run a new regression in which the regressor is log (price) and the regressand Size is replaced by its
logarithm log (size). The R squared of this new model is around 60%, even a little lower than the
original model. The statistical significance of other independent variables keeps almost unaffected.
The analysis of coefficients in this model with logarithms is not intuitive. So we still stick to the
reduced linear model estimated in (a). We analyzed the OLS residuals to check for possible
heteroskedasticity for a cross sectional data set. We computed the fitted values of Price and OLS
residuals in our model. Then residuals are sorted by fitted values of Price, and a scatter diagram of
residuals is plotted against the fitted values in Figure 2. It is observed that all points are fairly scattered
and there is no obvious pattern for the dependence of the residuals on the fitted values. We conclude
that a linear model with homoskedastic errors is satisfactory for this data set. We evaluated the validity
of this linear regression model by checking the accuracy of its prediction. The linear model is
estimated by using 100 out of 105

Affluenza Research Papers
Affluent children are usually considered to be at low risk. However, in recent news 16 year old, Ethan
Couch killed 4 individuals and paralyzed a 5th in a car accident just after stealing beer from Walmart.
Couch was driving under the influence with a BAC of .24 as well as Valium and marijuana in his
system. When taken to trial Couch s defense was that he suffered from Affluenza a disorder due to
excessive wealth and parent s lack of attention. These problems consist of lack of motivation, feelings
of guilt as well as a sense of isolation (Klass Valiente ,2015). Affluenza has started to become a
reoccurring topic in the media. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary (2015), Affluenza is a
psychological illness that affects young wealthy individuals. Researchers are interested in exploring
the impact of excessive wealth on a child s development. Researchers plan to observe the impact of
extreme pressures to achieve and disconnection from parents on affluent American youth. Researchers

White Privilege And Black Privilege
The term privilege is when a person has the right or confused with having the right to do something.
For example, for someone to advance their education is not a privilege perhaps it is a right. In some
cases during certain situation person can be granted the privilege. White privilege is a word greatly
used in social rights that advantage individuals to be acknowledged as white in Western countries, afar
what is frequently proficient by non white individuals in the same social, political, or economic
conditions (Rothenberg, 2016). However, when a certain race color is treated more superior than
another race is giving the advantage or benefit to have the opportunity to do anything they want
without anyone trying to stop them.
According to the authors, what practice(s) create white privilege is viewed in their own unique
perspective but, it all fits up under one category of a specific race having the advantage to have their
freedom to do what they like. Based on McIntosh view that whites in Western societies adore
recompenses that non whites do not practice, as an undistinguishable package of unjustified assets
(Rothenberg, 2016). White freedom represents together evident and not as much of evident submissive
rewards that white people may possibly not identify they require, which differentiates it from explicit
favoritism or preconception. In fact, they have been accepted as the better social status in addition to
freedom to move, buy, work, play, and speak freely. It

Biopsychosocial and Biomedical Model of Health
Human beliefs about the causes of illness and injury vary from one era to another. In the Neolithic
times (c.a 8000 9000 b.c ), illness and injury being common phenomena s, were directly associated to
natural events manipulated by higher powers which also controlled climate changes and other natural
events. Overtime, healing ceremonies, songs, sacred objects, and incantations were developed as
means of pacifying the evil forces which were believed to cause diseases, and illnesses. Then, during
the period of intellectual development, ways of western medicine was first implemented by
Hippocrates, who was regarded to as the most celebrated Greek practitioner and till date is known as
the father of medicine. Hippocrates helped overcome the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This supported Sigmund Freud s proposal of the idea of illness, which stated that, physical illness such
as blindness occurred due to stress, harmful social relationships and emotional problems.
However, before Modern Greek theorists studied about the mind and other bodily mechanisms, it was
for long believed that animating spirits governed human behavior, their actions and functions. This
belief was known as animism; overtime theories and laws regarding physical elements evolved, these
laws mainly spoke about inanimate objects while the belief that spirits determined human behavior
and actions remained only due to lack of evolution of better explanations that could take over the
theory of animism. Then came Hippocrates and Galen who reformulated the idea and perception of
illness and diseases which were previously attributed to behavior as a result of evil spirit or demon
possession.; by proposing that an imbalance of humors ( yellow bile, black bile, phlegm and blood)
and that personality was determined on the basis of the levels of these 4 humors, where , if phlegm
was the dominant humor the individual tends to be apathic, dominance of blood leads the person to be
more cheerful, while yellow bile

Leadership Class Analysis
Over the course of this class I have learned about the kind of leader I am as well as the kind of leader I
prefer when being the follower in a situation. Whether or not it is common I am not sure, however I
react to a different leadership style than the one I implement myself. Above I have created my own
leadership model that I feel covers all of the aspects it takes to being a successful leader. There are
three elements to being a productive leader in any given situation and it starts with you as a person. In
order to be a leader I feel that you must first understand who you are as a person, you need to know
what drives you to succeed, and what motivates you. As the leader of an organization, business, or
large group you have to be able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning with yourself and moving through the phases until reaching your final outcome. One of the
lectures from week two, Cunningham Skills, is a great way to begin understand yourself as a leader. If
you as a leader can embrace and understand how to implement the six skills Cunningham believes are
necessary to be a successful leader than you have the first element of my leadership model taken care
of. My absolute favorite skill Cunningham discusses is the idea of managing symbols (Strong, 2016,
Cunningham Skills), I believe the reason it sticks out so much to me is because becoming a teacher is
something I have wanted for a while now and you have to know and understand how to conduct
yourself in a manner that represents who you are as well as who your school is. It is so important in
today s society to remember how much access others have to your personal life, whether your social
media is private or not. Therefore, creating an image for yourself is so essential and should begin long

Throughout the time of the Great depression many people were homeless and unemployed. It was
caused by enormous growth of goods and prices of shares in the United States during 1920s.
Companies were producing more products than they could sell, while most Americans could not
afford it because they were too poor. Also investors borrowed money from banks to buy shares so they
could sell them for quick profits when prices rose. In 1920s this caused share prices reached
unrealistic amounts and when investors lost confidence they rushed to sell shares, prices collapsed.
Results in this huge fall meant demands for goods vanished and people were left unemployed and
banks closed while poverty spread. Australia also was affected because Australia owed a large and
increasing amount of interest to overseas lenders. Many works were left unemployed and in 1932

The account of this story is that while travelling with his parents to the city of Jerusalem for Passover.
Jesus was inadvertently left behind and was later found among rabbis within a temple having an in
depth conversation over the Torah. It is said that even as a boy, Jesus was gifted with immense
knowledge and understanding of Jewish traditions, and a well had established a personal connection
with the God. An example of this connection can be witness in his reference through pray to God as
Abba , which is an Aramaic and Hebrew term for the word Father (Fisher pg. 289).
No further reports are made within the Gospel on the life of Jesus until eighteen years later, at which
point, it is stated that Jesus appears before John the Baptist on the Jordan River seeking baptismal. At
that time, John was calling people to the River for the purpose of repenting their sins and become
sanctified and through immersion in the river they would become spiritually purified. John was
reluctant to perform this ceremony on Jesus, under the premise that he (Jesus) is believed to be
without sin; however, it was Jesus that insisted. One interpretation behind this, as Fisher explains, is
that this was seen as Jesus consecration to God as the Messiah (Fisher pg. 290). An additional theory
offered, is that he (Jesus) was undergoing this ceremony of baptismal on behalf of all mankind. Lastly,
is it said that the baptism was

of migration, battles, food deprivation, and suffering for most of the kingdoms of Southern Africa .
This period of wars and migration in Africa become known as Mfecane. There are many schools of

Gump, however, has led us away from blaming Mfecane solely on Shaka, since Shaka only comes
after the start of Mfecane, thus could he as a great leader only worsen Mfecane by increasing the

political changes, but what made Web s study different he did not only blame one kingdom, he argued
the causes for Mfecane was due to three strong kingdoms, present at the same time. These three

The Book Of Ezekiel And The Destruction Of Jerusalem
The Book of Ezekiel is and the man himself is in the midst of historical event associated with the
demise of Judah and the destruction of Jerusalem (587 B.C.E) Ezekiel, along with other Judahites
were taken into exile in Babylon in 597. In effect there were two Judahs one in the land of Judah and
one in exile. One king, Jehoiachin was in exile and Zedekiah in Jerusalem. Under Babylonian bonds
and rejecting prophetic advice, they refused to pay their tribute. Within a few years, the temple, city
walls, and homes of Jerusalem were burned and leveled. More citizens were carried away to Babylon,
and those who remained soon fled to Egypt for security. Ezekiel was told to warn God s people that
there were consequences to their lack of fidelity. God cautioned them that refusal to live by the
covenant would bring its own discipline. The people did not listen to the Prophet Ezekiel: he was
disliked for his words, and alienated for his message. He told the people that God would allow them to
live as orphans if they chose to be orphans to live outside of God s covenant. After the fall of
Jerusalem, the Babylonian general Nebuzaraddan was sent to complete its destruction. Solomon s
Temple was destroyed. Most of the elite were taken into captivity in Babylon. Jerusalem was razed to
the ground.

The Feminist Theory Of Fargo By The Coen Brothers
Scrolling through Netflix trying to pick a movie, viewers can generally get the idea of the movie based
on the title shown. The first thought that popped into my head after reading the title Fargo , was how
far would an individual strive to achieve and/or accomplish a goal or mission and how far would that
individual run if caught in a unforeseen circumstance. The 1996 film Fargo by the Coen Brothers,
explores a handful of themes such as, life, death and evil. The idea of the movie is that the main
character Jerry Lundegaard is a car sales man and is not very good at his job. He is shown no respect
from his wife and child and his boss, which is also his father in law. The film takes place in a small
town in Minnesota. This essay will explore the Feminist and Marxist theory, seen through this film
Fargo and its characters. The Feminist theory and Marxist theory are mainly seen through the
characters Marge, the police officer and Jerry the main character, which the entire movie revolves

Effect of Stress on Beet Cells
The Effect of Temperature on Beet Cell Membranes Introduction In this lab, we are going to learn
how the stress of temperature affects fresh beets. We have come to learn that cell membranes organize
the chemical activities of cells. All cells are made of plasma membranes, often called fluid mosaics. It
is sometimes described as a mosaic because it is made of protein molecules that are embedded into
phospholipids. Phospholipids are the main structural support of the membrane and the proteins
perform most of the functions of a membrane. Together they form boundaries or barriers between the
cell itself and its surroundings, like the membrane of an egg. Plasma membranes also control what
substances come in and out and also dispose of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In tube 3, the water was at 40. This is still warm but not the color was not nearly as intense as the
previous tube. The next tube charted was tube number 4. The beet was subjected to a temperature of
only 22°c. That temperature I would chart as room temperature . I found that the least amount of dye
was leaked from the beet. For the cold methods I concluded that the amount of betacyanin that
escaped from the cell membrane was intense, like the hot treatment results. I concluded that it didn t
have to be hot temperature stress to release betacyanin. Tube number 5 was placed into the refrigerator
and the level of dye that permeated the water was charted at a 6. Tube 6 was placed in the freezer and
was documented at a level of color intensity of a ten. Also, when the tube was pulled from the freezer
the specimen has noticeably changed. It has a slight white, almost white frost or texture to it. Please

3 40 5 4 22 1 5 5 6 6 5 10 Discussion I believe the result came out the way they did because of level of
stress I put the beet through. When damage is done to a cell membrane it affects the entire vegetable.
When the beet was put in such hot temperatures the cell membrane started to break down and leak the
pigment through the cell wall, since the cell is semi permeable. Like we spoke

Analysis Of Sanford Meisner On Acting
In his book Sanford Meisner On Acting, Meisner teaches students in his class the techniques needed in
acting. The book is written in a way that is enjoyable to the reader because it is written in third person,
where an observer writes about what occurred in the class among Meisner and his students. In the
book, Meisner teaches the students about the importance of being genuine; they should stop
pretending and they should stop being polite. They should rather just do what feels genuine to them. I
liked that the book was written based on observed experiences and not just laying down the acting
techniques for readers to follow. By reading about the experiences, I felt as though I was in the class
with Meisner and this enabled me to understand the techniques better.
The first things that caught my eye from the book are the principles Meisner gives his students. On the
topic The Pinch and The Touch , he says, Don t do anything unless something makes you do it...what
you do doesn t depend on you: it depends on the other fellow (Meisner 34). He goes further to
illustrate the two principles by pinching John, one of his students, who reacts by shouting Mr.
Meisner! The principles caught my eye because I have heard my acting professor constantly tell us the
same thing. He always says that we should have an objective of why we are choosing to do a certain
action and our actions should be driven by what our partner does or says. I liked his way of illustrating
the principles

Introduction
Skill acquisition refers to the process that athletes use to learn or acquire a new skill. A skill can be
defined as an act or task such as typing or drawing, or in the instance of sport, catching, throwing, and
running. (http://www.hsc.csu.edu.au/pdhpe/core2/focus2/focus4/4017/fac2_4.htm)
The assignment we have been given this term is to identify and classify the skills that are required for
better performance with that of a professional player. Using appropriate resources plan and evaluate
methods of skill improvement.
Open skills: sports such as Netball, Football, and Hockey involve open skills. The environment is
constantly changing and so movements have to be continually adapted. Skills are predominantly

Correct use of feedback and applying multiple intelligences to the badminton skill matrix, can
significantly improve my skill, this is because according to my multiple intelligences results and
personal experience I find it easy to learn and adapt new skills via visual learning and feedback from
peers/teacher. Due to my lack to of experience and skill in badminton I am best of learning via
distributive practice which means I learn a multitude of skills frequently with short rest intervals, as it
creates a more controlled environment that helps with players such as myself adapting to the sport.
Continuous feedback is most effective to my learning ability, as I can change my execution of the skill
so I can do it properly and correctly, or I can figure out what I am doing

Dover Castle s Importance

Dover Castle s importance is primarily down to its location. It s in the narrowest section of the straits
of Dover with just 21 miles between England and France: in fact, on a clear day you can see France.
This makes the castle well placed to be the guard post of England .
The castle s incredible strategic location was acknowledged by William the Conqueror, Henry II, the
1770s British Government and even by the British Army in both World War I and World War II.
Through the ages, each of these individuals and organisations built new parts and strengthened the
existing castle. Their overall goal was to keep England secure.
Before Dover Castle was built it was an Iron Age hill fort, this made this location a perfect place to put
a castle because it gave fantastic views not only over their land, but also because of the
aforementioned view of France. This meant that when the castle was eventually built on this site it
was a lot harder to attack and a lot easier to defend. This proves to be the case as the castle has never
been successfully attacked. Furthermore this provided Dover with a strategic advantage locally and
also nationally because of its fantastic location.
The Romans arrived in southern Britain in AD 43, but not much happened on the south coast until 270
AD when 9 forts were built, including one in Dover. The English Heritage guide book tells us that the
Romans built a lighthouse (a Pharos) which probably dates to the first half of the second century AD

He rushed up the old, rugged stairs calling out victoria s name. Little did he know he couldn t find his

he would look around the village and ask anyone if they had seen her.
Have you seen victora anywhere? ,he asked his neighbour and others who lived close by,but they all

No I haven t seen hear or i m not sure. Nobody knew where she was . Everyone practically knew

Noco Soccer Academy
NOCO Soccer Academy is a successful youth soccer training program is the market that Dyer has

things working for it already; customer retention is very high, awareness of NOCO in its current

This type of new program offering and adding one on one training for his current customers would
increase NOCO s market penetration in the 10 13 year old group too. Using customer satisfaction
surveys would be a great market research tool for Dyer to use to identify the types of new programs
his customers are looking for. Diversification in NOCO s target markets is another avenue for Dyer to
explore to expand his business. Consumers in Colorado are very interested in soccer. Is there enough
interest to warrant developing adult soccer teams? Is there a market for toddler soccer training? What
about a childcare program for younger kids so parents can watch older kids compete in the
tournaments? Dyer needs to hit the pavement in his community and in the neighboring communities to
get first hand feedback from the demographics he is targeting. In order to increase awareness of his
business in the towns adjacent to Fort Collins, Dyer could host recruiting events in Loveland,
Longmont and Greeley. With the information he gathers at those events he could consider the viability
of bussing new customers to Fort Collins or offering camps outside his home base. This type of
market development could be instrumental in growing NOCO into the recognizable brand that Dyer
wants it to be.
Dyer should evaluate all opportunities available to him and weigh them against their opportunity cost

Women s Liberation Movement Of The 1960s And 1970s
History 304 Casey Bryant Section 4 Module 11
The women s liberation movement (or feminism as it is now known) of the 1960s and 1970s touched
every home, business, and school (WA, 705). The movement even touched the sports and
entertainment industries, in fact, There are few areas of contemporary life untouched by feminism
(WA, 717). The word feminism in the early 1960 s wasn t often used and when it was it was used with
condescension or hatred. However, in the late sixties that changed thanks to a new group of women.
This new diverse group of women included the: young, old, heterosexual, lesbians, working class, and
even the privileged. This diverse group came together and collectively created the second wave of
feminism.
The current counterculture and social upheavals of the civil rights movement and the Vietnam war
caused this new feminism to emerge, signaling the beginning of a transforming era in women s history

Symbolism In The Birthmark
From plastic surgery to botox, people try to morph their physical attributes in pursuit of achieving
their idea of perfection, but when is it enough? Nathaniel Hawthorne s short story, The Birthmark,
tells about a husband consumed by achieving the idea of perfection through his scientific knowledge
to dispose of what he believes to be a defect that resides on his nearly perfect wife s cheek a crimson
birthmark in the shape of a hand because he feels that the birthmark is the only thing that prevents her
from achieving absolute perfection. After seeing the disgust in her husband s face at the look of her

The birthmark represents Georgiana s humanity as well as an indication of her flaws to Hawthorne in
that it is human nature to be imperfect and mortal, and this defines what it means to be human.
Hawthorne symbolically refers to the birthmark as being deeply interwoven with Georgiana s
countenance to show the reader how a person s flaws are an inseparable part of their character
(Hawthorne 614). Hawthorne gives life to Georgiana s birthmark by showing how its visibility shifts
with the changing color of her face such as when she blushed it gradually became more distinct... but
if any shifting motion caused her to turn pale there was the mark again and also how it faded from her
cheek [along with] the parting breath of the now perfect woman to symbolize her mortality
(Hawthorne 614, 623). As well as showing mortality, Jeffrey Howard refers to the birthmark as being
a vital symbol in ascertaining Aylmer s motivation to remove his wife s blemish that exists as a
reaction to the birthmark which [Aylmer] perceives as a threat to his masculine dominance because of
the mark s placement on Georgiana s cheek (Howard

Misrepresentation Black Men
The media s representation on ethical/racial and colonial illustration is not always accurate; there are
many stereotypes and critics always find something to be false. Realism also plays a big role in
representing in what critics believe. (Shothat 178)
The sensitivity around stereotypes and distortions largely arises, then, form the powerlessness of
historically marginalized groups to control their own representation. Since Black people are the
minority, they have no control over how they are represented in the media. As Shothat had mentioned
in his article, In the media there is a tendency to represent Black males as potential delinquents. The

Comparing Vivaldi s Concerto For Four Violins And...
Project 5
Vivaldi Concerto for Four Violins and Orchestra in B Minor
Vivaldi s Concerto for Four Violins and Orchestra in B Minor bears some similarities and some
differences to his work Winter from The Four Seasons. The most prominent of these similarities
relates to the speed of the movements. The typical concerto from the Baroque period had three
movements. These movements often alternated their tempo: the first was fast, the second slow, and the
third fast again.
In Winter, Vivaldi utilizes this pattern. If one listens to the first minute or so Vivaldi s second
movement in that work, then listens to the anything beyond the first 30 or so seconds of the first
movement or past the first 45 seconds of the third movement, the contrast is obvious. Vivaldi s second
movement in Winter is by far the slowest of the three movements.
This Concerto for Four Violins follows this same pattern. The first thirty seconds, for example, of the
opening movement (0:00 0:30) are replete with up tempo music, as are the opening thirty seconds of
the third and final movement (6:17 6:47 on the YouTube video). By contrast, the beginning thirty
seconds of the second movement (3:50 4:20 on the video) are noticeably slower than their
counterparts in the other movements. This characteristic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pphl 25 Reflection
I am currently taking up PHIL 25, Philosophy of the Human Person, and it helped me interpret
complex things discussed in the 26 chapter text. The text as well helped me refreshed what were
already discussed on our PHIL 25 course and also aids in attaining a deeper understanding on
Philosophy. In the first chapters of the text, I already know that there is a big difference between
knowledge and wisdom; wherein not all knowledgeable are wise. And what the text provided me was
a better comprehension on the difference between the two, knowledge and wisdom.
I, myself, do not know what wisdom is. According to the dictionary, wisdom is the quality of having
experience, knowledge, and good judgment; but what does wisdom really mean. In the text, it was
described as the knowledge of highest causes. It is about seeing the larger picture of things. And
mostly the wise persons are the older ones. I have learned that most older person are wise not ... Show

The principle of identity states that each being is what it is, thus everything is determinate. Without
this principle we would not know anything at all and that what is something is the same as what it is
not. On the other hand, the principle of non contradiction states that something cannot be both true and
false at the same time in the same respect. Without this principle, for me, the world would be in chaos.
This is because, what would I want to mean could be the opposite of what would i want to imply. The
principle of the excluded middle states that a thing can only be is or is not, there is no such thing as in
between them. I have also grasp that becoming is being. This is for the reason that becoming means
changing into something. But before that change has come to happen, that thing to undergo change is
still the thing it is. I am quite confused

Ireland Fits Well Into Arend Lijphart s Consensus Model...
Scotland fits well into Arend Lijphart s consensus model of democracy, however only to a certain
extent. Arend Lijphart s strategy of the consensus model is how majoritarian a government is. The
consensus model aims to share out power so that it is not all down to the one governing party. The
consensus model is very important when it comes to Scotland as it can be argued that is only effective
for highly divided societies. There are a few significant elements such as party systems, proportional
representation and the comparison between the Scotland and New Zealand which will be investigated
in this essay.
Arend Lijphart could argue that Scotland is moving away from a firm two party system and drawing
closer towards a multi party system. Currently in Scotland, the Scottish National Party (SNP) is the
largest party in the country, with two medium parties which are the Scottish Conservatives and
Unionist Party along with the Scottish Labour Party. Moreover, the shape in which the Scottish
Parliament was designed is to promote consensus and grown up debate rather than the set up of
Westminster as it a confrontational style of politics. There are also two smaller parties which are the
Scottish Green Party and the Scottish Liberal Democrats. The multiparty system enables more than
one party to take charge of the country as it is trying to get as many people as possible governing for
the country which can be extremely beneficial as it allows power sharing and therefore in time

Richard Cory Essay
The American poet, Edwin Arlington Robinson wrote the narrative poem Richard Cory, which first
appeared in his second poetry collection, The Children of the Night and recalls the economic
depression of 1893. Throughout the poem, Robinson describes an envied, wealthy man who is seen as
the idol and poster child of the perfect life. But to their surprise, Richard Cory commits suicide, which
teaches the townspeople a great lesson: that material, wealth, normality, and fancy things are not what
bring a person eternal happiness.
He displays the theme through using imagery, diction, and situational irony.
Throughout the poem, Robinson uses imagery to help readers envision an image of Richard Cory
being someone who has everyone stopping and looking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Everyone in the town wants to be just like him due to the perfection which he seems to display. The
whole town stops and only thinks of the money he has and how amazing his life would be, but they do
not realize what he is feeling or never stop to really talk to him. In the reality, he lacks happiness, the
key ingredient to having it all. The irony of the poem is that this man, who seems to have everything
perceived to bring happiness, kills himself because he is unhappy with his life. Six lines in the poem

more importantly, with each repetition it places him higher and higher on this pedestal of power and
respect that the townspeople have placed him on. This use of repetition helps build towards the climax

is proving much tougher!
In the international context, the word progress relate to amendment in quality of life, including

achieve this aim while safeguarding the ecological processes upon which life depends. Locally,
progressive businesses seek a positive treble under line, (a positive offering to the economic, social,

Professor James Martin
Music 32 Music Appreciation
20 April 2016
Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven Prevailing from about 1750 to around 1820, Classical Period had truly
distributed many wonderful and unforgettable remarks that help defining the word Classical,
especially when referring to music style. Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven all left such remarkable and
significant heritages that not only characterize Classical Era but also differentiate incomparable
uniqueness among one another. Uniqueness such as styles, methods, and the ways of approaching the
master pieces tends to be quite small in term of how they sound; nevertheless, the differences to be
compared and contrasted are still and always there. Thus, the following ... Show more content on

The Role Of Hero In Aristotle s Tragic Hero
Hero is a specific character of many literatures. They are imaged as to worship, or character that saves
the universe on the literature. However, some heroes face tragedy by heading to their darkest abyss of
their path. In Aristotle s Tragic hero thesis, the hero gets called from adventure and achieves aids from
supernatural phenomenon. But by hero s own flaws, he/she transforms his/her identity with sinister
ambition to achieve the goal. However, the hero fails his/her goal because during the steps hero takes,
he/she commits evil actions that makes hero fall in challenges and temptations. The most important
cause that fails hero is the flaw of hero in him/her self. The definition of flaw is a feature that mars the
perfection of something; deflect; fault; Hero s tragedy is being caused by hero s antagonists or hero
transforming him/herself malice. In the play Macbeth, both of these ways are related to supernatural
phenomenon affecting tragic hero s journey. The steps of tragic hero are starting from call to the
adventure, supernatural aid, saving, transformation, challenge temptation and facing the abyss at the
end. By hero making a journey of this path, it consequences the great fall of him/her self. The
antagonists are also being an important part of hero failing. They plan conspiracies to make hero fail
in most painful and desperate way. In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the three witches are

Roots Movie Analysis
Roots, the movie or series, is closely based on Alex Haley s novel about his ancestors from Africa who
were forced into slavery. The series begins with the life of Kunta Kinte, a young boy from Gambia,
West Africa who has been captured and kidnapped by slave raiders. He reluctantly goes from being
surrounded by loving family and friends to being forced into slavery half way across the world from
everything he knows. Episode one of the historical series mainly depicts Kunta s home life in Gambia.
We observe as Kunta Kinte develops into a fearless, responsible teenager. He then attends manhood
training in his village of Mandika and is transformed into an adult man in his society. This is where
Kunta Kinte first witnesses the presence of white ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I ve only watched two episodes, I feel like I m connected to Kunta Kinte. His story is so sad,
inspiring, and exciting. It left me wondering what is going to happen next. It makes me question if
Kunta will survive and escape. Also it makes me question if he ll ever be united with Fanta and his
family again. This movie is very deep and difficult to watch because it forces me reflect on how badly
Africans and African Americans have been treated, but it also makes me proud that things are better. I
believe that this movie is historically accurate because the portrayal of the conditions on the ship was
as badly as they were during slavery. I feel this movie accurately depicts life as an African slave and
how hard it is to let go of everything someone has learned and conform to a new identity. I believe the
movie explains all points of perception from the slaves point of view to the slave owners to the
capturers and even the captain of the ship s experience. Although the movie is dramatized, it is very
believable. I would rate this movie an 8.5 so far because I haven t had the chance to see the whole
thing. I am intrigued to see what more there is in store for Kunta Kinte and his

Introduction Of Polonius In Hamlet
The introduction of Polonius in Hamlet is one of an elderly chief counselor to the king of Denmark,
but as his character develops, we see him evolve into a manipulator who worries about his self image
and how his family might jeopardize that; one would say Polonius fears being a simple man and will
sacrifice anything for status. As more events develop throughout the play Polonius turns into this
ruthless politician that won t stop at anything in order to manipulate and keep his status in the
kingdom; Polonius as the brilliant mastermind that he is, is always on the prowl for any information
he can get his hands on; he sleeps with one eye open and an ear on the ground. Polonius uses all this
information at the right moments to create his narrative.
Polonius is cleric who worries about his son Laertes s possible behavior, and how his son s behavior
might reflect bad on him. In previous acts Polonius gives Laertes sound advice so he doesn t go
embarrassed himself when he gets to France. Polonius worries about his son s behavior and is
intrigued to find out what he is up to. He calls to his servant Reynaldo and sets him with a task; to
inquire on his son s behavior before meeting him. In act II is clear that Polonius worries about one
thing only, and that s the reputation his son might be getting in France: inquire me first what Danskers
are in Paris, /and how, what means, and where they /keep, / what company, at what expense; and
finding /by this encompassment and drift of

  • 2. The Hobbit Character Analysis The Hobbit is a fantasy novel, by J.R.R. Tolkien that tells the story of an unexpected story. Rather than being about a main character who is brave and noble, this story is about Bilbo Baggins, a predictable, mild mannered hobbit. He lives in his cozy home and avoids anything out of the ordinary until he is presented with the opportunity of an adventure with Gandalf the wizard along with 13 dwarves. The goal is to take back the homeland of the dwarves from the dragon, Smaug, who has attacked and taken over. The journey entails mountains, forests, and creatures such as trolls, goblins, elves, and more. And even though no one sees much potential in the seemingly weak hobbit, Gandalf sees traits of a hero within Bilbo. This journey results in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point in the novel, the narrator describes, On they went, Gollum flip flapping ahead, hissing and cursing; Bilbo behind going as softly as a hobbit can (85). Once Gollum gets angry, Bilbo slips on the ring and becomes aware of its power invisibility. He takes advantage of this and follows Gollum until navigates his way back to the dwarves. This demonstrates Bilbo s cleverness because it shows his ability to quickly read a situation. He has to think on his feet and independently if he is to return to the others. Bilbo has never been put in a situation where he has to quickly think on his own quite like this, so clearly, he has exhibited cleverness which has commenced his transformation. Through his experience in Mirkwood, Bilbo exhibits selflessness, which continues his transformation. In this episode, Bilbo and the dwarves enter the dark forest of Mirkwood and encounter giant spiders they have to fight off. The spiders entrap the dwarves in their silk, leaving Bilbo (with the ring) to find a way to save everyone. Bilbo shows his selflessness at this point when the novel says, Bilbo saw that the moment had come when he must do something. (159) and then later continues to say, In this way, [Bilbo and Fili, who he had just rescued] rescued Kili, Bifur, Bofur, Dori, and Nori (162). This shows Bilbo s selflessness because he s so determined to rescue the other dwarves and he once again has to think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Real Estate Data Set This task involves trying to give an educated guess on a linear regression model for pricing real estate using a real facts date set using numbers and facts. Normally two approaches are used for valuing a real estate property: income and sales comparison. The sales assessment approach values a real estate property based on sale prices of similar properties. In this case the properties with familiar individuality are basically on the same price level, it would be typical to use a linear regression model to complete this demonstration. Our team will examine the significance of numerous independent variables to a real estate value. Two important strategies to regression testing is to run all test, and run a subset of the test based on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The correlation is 41% between Bdrm and Size. We have concluded that there is no problem of multicollinearity in the data. We also found that Price and Size have relatively large scales compared with other variables. So it is natural to consider the logarithmic form of these two variables. We will run a new regression in which the regressor is log (price) and the regressand Size is replaced by its logarithm log (size). The R squared of this new model is around 60%, even a little lower than the original model. The statistical significance of other independent variables keeps almost unaffected. The analysis of coefficients in this model with logarithms is not intuitive. So we still stick to the reduced linear model estimated in (a). We analyzed the OLS residuals to check for possible heteroskedasticity for a cross sectional data set. We computed the fitted values of Price and OLS residuals in our model. Then residuals are sorted by fitted values of Price, and a scatter diagram of residuals is plotted against the fitted values in Figure 2. It is observed that all points are fairly scattered and there is no obvious pattern for the dependence of the residuals on the fitted values. We conclude that a linear model with homoskedastic errors is satisfactory for this data set. We evaluated the validity of this linear regression model by checking the accuracy of its prediction. The linear model is estimated by using 100 out of 105 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, in recent news 16 year old, Ethan Couch killed 4 individuals and paralyzed a 5th in a car accident just after stealing beer from Walmart. Couch was driving under the influence with a BAC of .24 as well as Valium and marijuana in his system. When taken to trial Couch s defense was that he suffered from Affluenza a disorder due to excessive wealth and parent s lack of attention. These problems consist of lack of motivation, feelings of guilt as well as a sense of isolation (Klass Valiente ,2015). Affluenza has started to become a reoccurring topic in the media. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary (2015), Affluenza is a psychological illness that affects young wealthy individuals. • 5. White Privilege And Black Privilege The term privilege is when a person has the right or confused with having the right to do something. For example, for someone to advance their education is not a privilege perhaps it is a right. In some cases during certain situation person can be granted the privilege. White privilege is a word greatly used in social rights that advantage individuals to be acknowledged as white in Western countries, afar what is frequently proficient by non white individuals in the same social, political, or economic conditions (Rothenberg, 2016). However, when a certain race color is treated more superior than another race is giving the advantage or benefit to have the opportunity to do anything they want without anyone trying to stop them. According to the authors, what practice(s) create white privilege is viewed in their own unique perspective but, it all fits up under one category of a specific race having the advantage to have their freedom to do what they like. Based on McIntosh view that whites in Western societies adore recompenses that non whites do not practice, as an undistinguishable package of unjustified assets (Rothenberg, 2016). White freedom represents together evident and not as much of evident submissive rewards that white people may possibly not identify they require, which differentiates it from explicit favoritism or preconception. In the Neolithic times (c.a 8000 9000 b.c ), illness and injury being common phenomena s, were directly associated to natural events manipulated by higher powers which also controlled climate changes and other natural events. Overtime, healing ceremonies, songs, sacred objects, and incantations were developed as means of pacifying the evil forces which were believed to cause diseases, and illnesses. This supported Sigmund Freud s proposal of the idea of illness, which stated that, physical illness such as blindness occurred due to stress, harmful social relationships and emotional problems. However, before Modern Greek theorists studied about the mind and other bodily mechanisms, it was for long believed that animating spirits governed human behavior, their actions and functions. This belief was known as animism; overtime theories and laws regarding physical elements evolved, these laws mainly spoke about inanimate objects while the belief that spirits determined human behavior and actions remained only due to lack of evolution of better explanations that could take over the theory of animism. Then came Hippocrates and Galen who reformulated the idea and perception of illness and diseases which were previously attributed to behavior as a result of evil spirit or demon possession.; by proposing that an imbalance of humors ( yellow bile, black bile, phlegm and blood) and that personality was determined on the basis of the levels of these 4 humors, where , if phlegm was the dominant humor the individual tends to be apathic, dominance of blood leads the person to be more cheerful, while yellow bile ... Whether or not it is common I am not sure, however I react to a different leadership style than the one I implement myself. Above I have created my own leadership model that I feel covers all of the aspects it takes to being a successful leader. There are three elements to being a productive leader in any given situation and it starts with you as a person. In order to be a leader I feel that you must first understand who you are as a person, you need to know what drives you to succeed, and what motivates you. My absolute favorite skill Cunningham discusses is the idea of managing symbols (Strong, 2016, Cunningham Skills), I believe the reason it sticks out so much to me is because becoming a teacher is something I have wanted for a while now and you have to know and understand how to conduct yourself in a manner that represents who you are as well as who your school is. It was caused by enormous growth of goods and prices of shares in the United States during 1920s. Also investors borrowed money from banks to buy shares so they could sell them for quick profits when prices rose. In 1920s this caused share prices reached unrealistic amounts and when investors lost confidence they rushed to sell shares, prices collapsed. The account of this story is that while travelling with his parents to the city of Jerusalem for Passover. Jesus was inadvertently left behind and was later found among rabbis within a temple having an in depth conversation over the Torah. It is said that even as a boy, Jesus was gifted with immense knowledge and understanding of Jewish traditions, and a well had established a personal connection with the God. An example of this connection can be witness in his reference through pray to God as Abba , which is an Aramaic and Hebrew term for the word Father (Fisher pg. 289). No further reports are made within the Gospel on the life of Jesus until eighteen years later, at which point, it is stated that Jesus appears before John the Baptist on the Jordan River seeking baptismal. At that time, John was calling people to the River for the purpose of repenting their sins and become sanctified and through immersion in the river they would become spiritually purified. John was reluctant to perform this ceremony on Jesus, under the premise that he (Jesus) is believed to be without sin; however, it was Jesus that insisted. One interpretation behind this, as Fisher explains, is that this was seen as Jesus consecration to God as the Messiah (Fisher pg. 290). An additional theory offered, is that he (Jesus) was undergoing this ceremony of baptismal on behalf of all mankind. Lastly, is it said that the baptism was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This period was characterised as a period of migration, battles, food deprivation, and suffering for most of the kingdoms of Southern Africa . This period of wars and migration in Africa become known as Mfecane. There are many schools of thought as to why these migrations and wars took place. • 14. The Book Of Ezekiel And The Destruction Of Jerusalem The Book of Ezekiel is and the man himself is in the midst of historical event associated with the demise of Judah and the destruction of Jerusalem (587 B.C.E) Ezekiel, along with other Judahites were taken into exile in Babylon in 597. In effect there were two Judahs one in the land of Judah and one in exile. One king, Jehoiachin was in exile and Zedekiah in Jerusalem. Under Babylonian bonds and rejecting prophetic advice, they refused to pay their tribute. Within a few years, the temple, city walls, and homes of Jerusalem were burned and leveled. More citizens were carried away to Babylon, and those who remained soon fled to Egypt for security. Ezekiel was told to warn God s people that there were consequences to their lack of fidelity. The first thought that popped into my head after reading the title Fargo , was how far would an individual strive to achieve and/or accomplish a goal or mission and how far would that individual run if caught in a unforeseen circumstance. The 1996 film Fargo by the Coen Brothers, explores a handful of themes such as, life, death and evil. The idea of the movie is that the main character Jerry Lundegaard is a car sales man and is not very good at his job. He is shown no respect from his wife and child and his boss, which is also his father in law. The film takes place in a small town in Minnesota. This essay will explore the Feminist and Marxist theory, seen through this film Fargo and its characters. The Feminist theory and Marxist theory are mainly seen through the characters Marge, the police officer and Jerry the main character, which the entire movie revolves around. • 18. Effect of Stress on Beet Cells The Effect of Temperature on Beet Cell Membranes Introduction In this lab, we are going to learn how the stress of temperature affects fresh beets. We have come to learn that cell membranes organize the chemical activities of cells. All cells are made of plasma membranes, often called fluid mosaics. It is sometimes described as a mosaic because it is made of protein molecules that are embedded into phospholipids. Phospholipids are the main structural support of the membrane and the proteins perform most of the functions of a membrane. Together they form boundaries or barriers between the cell itself and its surroundings, like the membrane of an egg. Plasma membranes also control what substances come in and out and also dispose of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In tube 3, the water was at 40. This is still warm but not the color was not nearly as intense as the previous tube. The next tube charted was tube number 4. The beet was subjected to a temperature of only 22°c. That temperature I would chart as room temperature . I found that the least amount of dye was leaked from the beet. For the cold methods I concluded that the amount of betacyanin that escaped from the cell membrane was intense, like the hot treatment results. I concluded that it didn t have to be hot temperature stress to release betacyanin. Tube number 5 was placed into the refrigerator and the level of dye that permeated the water was charted at a 6. Tube 6 was placed in the freezer and was documented at a level of color intensity of a ten. Also, when the tube was pulled from the freezer the specimen has noticeably changed. It has a slight white, almost white frost or texture to it. Please see attachment and table below. Test Tube number Treatment °C Color Intensity (0 10) 1 70 10 2 55 7 3 40 5 4 22 1 5 5 6 6 5 10 Discussion I believe the result came out the way they did because of level of stress I put the beet through. When damage is done to a cell membrane it affects the entire vegetable. When the beet was put in such hot temperatures the cell membrane started to break down and leak the pigment through the cell wall, since the cell is semi permeable. Like we spoke ... • 19. Analysis Of Sanford Meisner On Acting In his book Sanford Meisner On Acting, Meisner teaches students in his class the techniques needed in acting. The book is written in a way that is enjoyable to the reader because it is written in third person, where an observer writes about what occurred in the class among Meisner and his students. In the book, Meisner teaches the students about the importance of being genuine; they should stop pretending and they should stop being polite. They should rather just do what feels genuine to them. I liked that the book was written based on observed experiences and not just laying down the acting techniques for readers to follow. By reading about the experiences, I felt as though I was in the class with Meisner and this enabled me to understand the techniques better. The first things that caught my eye from the book are the principles Meisner gives his students. On the topic The Pinch and The Touch , he says, Don t do anything unless something makes you do it...what you do doesn t depend on you: it depends on the other fellow (Meisner 34). He goes further to illustrate the two principles by pinching John, one of his students, who reacts by shouting Mr. Meisner! The principles caught my eye because I have heard my acting professor constantly tell us the same thing. He always says that we should have an objective of why we are choosing to do a certain action and our actions should be driven by what our partner does or says. • 22. Dover Castle s Importance Dover Castle s importance is primarily down to its location. It s in the narrowest section of the straits of Dover with just 21 miles between England and France: in fact, on a clear day you can see France. This makes the castle well placed to be the guard post of England . The castle s incredible strategic location was acknowledged by William the Conqueror, Henry II, the 1770s British Government and even by the British Army in both World War I and World War II. Through the ages, each of these individuals and organisations built new parts and strengthened the existing castle. Their overall goal was to keep England secure. Before Dover Castle was built it was an Iron Age hill fort, this made this location a perfect place to put a castle because it gave fantastic views not only over their land, but also because of the aforementioned view of France. This meant that when the castle was eventually built on this site it was a lot harder to attack and a lot easier to defend. This proves to be the case as the castle has never been successfully attacked. Furthermore this provided Dover with a strategic advantage locally and also nationally because of its fantastic location. The Romans arrived in southern Britain in AD 43, but not much happened on the south coast until 270 AD when 9 forts were built, including one in Dover. The English Heritage guide book tells us that the Romans built a lighthouse (a Pharos) which probably dates to the first half of the second century AD to keep ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Comparing Vivaldi s Concerto For Four Violins And... Project 5 Vivaldi Concerto for Four Violins and Orchestra in B Minor Vivaldi s Concerto for Four Violins and Orchestra in B Minor bears some similarities and some differences to his work Winter from The Four Seasons. The most prominent of these similarities relates to the speed of the movements. The typical concerto from the Baroque period had three movements. These movements often alternated their tempo: the first was fast, the second slow, and the third fast again. In Winter, Vivaldi utilizes this pattern. If one listens to the first minute or so Vivaldi s second movement in that work, then listens to the anything beyond the first 30 or so seconds of the first movement or past the first 45 seconds of the third movement, the contrast is obvious. Vivaldi s second movement in Winter is by far the slowest of the three movements. This Concerto for Four Violins follows this same pattern. The first thirty seconds, for example, of the opening movement (0:00 0:30) are replete with up tempo music, as are the opening thirty seconds of the third and final movement (6:17 6:47 on the YouTube video). By contrast, the beginning thirty seconds of the second movement (3:50 4:20 on the video) are noticeably slower than their counterparts in the other movements. This characteristic ... • 37. Pphl 25 Reflection I am currently taking up PHIL 25, Philosophy of the Human Person, and it helped me interpret complex things discussed in the 26 chapter text. The text as well helped me refreshed what were already discussed on our PHIL 25 course and also aids in attaining a deeper understanding on Philosophy. In the first chapters of the text, I already know that there is a big difference between knowledge and wisdom; wherein not all knowledgeable are wise. And what the text provided me was a better comprehension on the difference between the two, knowledge and wisdom. I, myself, do not know what wisdom is. According to the dictionary, wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; but what does wisdom really mean. In the text, it was described as the knowledge of highest causes. It is about seeing the larger picture of things. And mostly the wise persons are the older ones. Without this principle we would not know anything at all and that what is something is the same as what it is not. On the other hand, the principle of non contradiction states that something cannot be both true and false at the same time in the same respect. Without this principle, for me, the world would be in chaos. This is because, what would I want to mean could be the opposite of what would i want to imply. The principle of the excluded middle states that a thing can only be is or is not, there is no such thing as in between them. I have also grasp that becoming is being. This is for the reason that becoming means changing into something. But before that change has come to happen, that thing to undergo change is still the thing it is. I am quite confused ... • 38. Ireland Fits Well Into Arend Lijphart s Consensus Model... Scotland fits well into Arend Lijphart s consensus model of democracy, however only to a certain extent. Arend Lijphart s strategy of the consensus model is how majoritarian a government is. The consensus model aims to share out power so that it is not all down to the one governing party. The consensus model is very important when it comes to Scotland as it can be argued that is only effective for highly divided societies. There are a few significant elements such as party systems, proportional representation and the comparison between the Scotland and New Zealand which will be investigated in this essay. Arend Lijphart could argue that Scotland is moving away from a firm two party system and drawing closer towards a multi party system. Currently in Scotland, the Scottish National Party (SNP) is the largest party in the country, with two medium parties which are the Scottish Conservatives and Unionist Party along with the Scottish Labour Party. Moreover, the shape in which the Scottish Parliament was designed is to promote consensus and grown up debate rather than the set up of Westminster as it a confrontational style of politics. There are also two smaller parties which are the Scottish Green Party and the Scottish Liberal Democrats. The multiparty system enables more than one party to take charge of the country as it is trying to get as many people as possible governing for the country which can be extremely beneficial as it allows power sharing and therefore in time ... Richard Cory Essay The American poet, Edwin Arlington Robinson wrote the narrative poem Richard Cory, which first appeared in his second poetry collection, The Children of the Night and recalls the economic depression of 1893. Throughout the poem, Robinson describes an envied, wealthy man who is seen as the idol and poster child of the perfect life. But to their surprise, Richard Cory commits suicide, which teaches the townspeople a great lesson: that material, wealth, normality, and fancy things are not what bring a person eternal happiness. He displays the theme through using imagery, diction, and situational irony. Throughout the poem, Richard Cory appears to have it all: the looks, the wealth and the status. Everyone in the town wants to be just like him due to the perfection which he seems to display. The whole town stops and only thinks of the money he has and how amazing his life would be, but they do not realize what he is feeling or never stop to really talk to him. In the reality, he lacks happiness, the key ingredient to having it all. The irony of the poem is that this man, who seems to have everything perceived to bring happiness, kills himself because he is unhappy with his life. Six lines in the poem begins with and. The repetition of this word helps to build an idea of how Richard Cory looked. But more importantly, with each repetition it places him higher and higher on this pedestal of power and respect that the townspeople have placed him on. This use of repetition helps build towards the climax and creates a story behind the climax. This technique also builds more impact and shock of the last line of the poem, teaching the reader and townspeople that material, wealth, normality, and fancy things are not what bring a person eternal ...
