The Poor Little Rich Girl Court Trial
Gloria has always been famous since the day she born and she was always in the paper . Her whole
family tree is pretty well known and mostly because of her money. When she was one year old her dad
passed away and her mom and Gloria went away to Paris, France to get away and they stayed there for
a few years. Her mother spent a lot of her money that Gloria s dad left for her, he left me 54,687,861
dollars when he died. That was the start of the Poor Little Rich Girl court trial. Gloria s aunt wanted to
take care of her and to have a better life and her aunt did win custody. Gloria s aunt her self was an
artist. That is when I started to get into art. When Gloria was 17 years old she married her first
husband and dropped out of high school.

Sn2 Reaction With 2-Bromobutane
In this experiment, the purpose was to create and observe the effects of a S_N 1 reaction. Silver nitrate
was dissolved in ethanol. The nitrate ion is a decent nucleophile, and ethanol is a fairly powerful
solvent. The difference in a SN1 reaction than an SN2 reaction is that a carbocation is formed. The
leaving group wants to leave on it s own, causing a multi step synthesis. The leaving group leaves,
creating a carbocation. The nucleophile finds the carbocation and attaches itself to it. More
substitution is preferred for SN1 reactions because the more stable a molecule is, the more stable the
carbocation will be. The following mixtures were combined with the silver nitrate dissolved in
ethanol: 2 chlorobutane, 2 bromobutane, 1 chlorobutane, 1 bromobutane, 2 chloro 2 methylpropane. ...

This is because chlorine is a poor leaving group, which is a critical characteristic of a SN1 reaction.
The reaction with 2 bromobutane formed a dense precipitate. This is because there is a lot of stability
present in this molecule and bromine is a good leaving group for the reaction. In test tube 3, the
reaction with 1 chlorobutane did not form a precipitate. This is because chlorine is a poor leaving
group and the molecule is primary, which means there s no steric hindrance, which is not ideal for a
SN1 reaction. In test tube 4, the reaction with 1 bromobutane formed some cloudiness after heating.
This should not have happened because there is no stability in this molecule. The cloudiness was more
than likely due to some sort of cross contamination. Finally, in test tube 5, the reaction formed a very
dense precipitate within the first couple seconds. This is because this molecule has the most steric
hindrance

Paralysis In Dubliners
Moreover, symbolism plays a big role in Dubliners by characters being symbols of their own
paralysis. In The Dead , Aunt Julie is paralyzed because of her lack of romance in her life and Gabriel
is paralyzed by lacking communication of his family and friends. The what if scenario of Eveline is
with Aunt Julie growing old and still not knowing where she was or where she was going due to her
paralysis of when she was young because she is in between what was and what is next, she is still in
that stage of liminality (Joyce 115). The same paralysis that Mrs. Sinico could have stayed with if she
has not committed suicide to solve her problems. Next, Gabriel Conroy s paralysis like Mr. Duffy in A

The Partition Of India And India
1. The Partition of India is the separation of India that occurred in 1947. This all began as anticolonial
elites in the Indian National Congress Party began to negotiate about a peaceful transfer of power
from the British. WWII caused a crisis in relations between the British, the Muslim League, and
Indian National Conference (Hindu dominated). Ghandi was the leading figure of the INC. He
advocated for a unified Hindu and Muslim Indian, but other officials however disagreed about what
kind of independent state India should have. The Hindus were the majority, and the Muslims were the
minority. There was much debate about which culture would define the new nation. Up until this point
it was the Hindu culture that defined Indian culture. In 1946 riots broke out between the Hindus and
Muslims, and the leader of the Muslim League demanded that British India be partitioned into
separate Muslim and Hindu states. So in order to avoid a civil war, colonial rulers decided to divide
the subcontinent in two parts: India and Pakistan. On August 14th, 1947 Pakistan gained
Independence from Britain and one day later India did as well. Unfortunately after this newfound
independence violence broke out. It is estimated that 1 million Hindus and Muslims killed one
another. As a result of the violence, 12 million Hindus and Muslims left their homes to relocate in the
new countries where they would be majority. On January 30, 1948, Gandhi was assassinated for his
support of a

How To Test Which Type Of Sunscreen Worked Better Than Lotion
The purpose of this experiment was to test which type of sunscreen worked better, spray or lotion. The
experiment was conducted by cutting a UV paper into squares and labeling each one with each of the
six sunscreen. A small amount of each sunscreen was applied to a square and was taken outside for
three minutes to be exposed to the sun. The UV squares were taken back inside to be soaked in water
for one minute each. The squares were left to dry for twenty four hours. Three trials were conducted
for each sunscreen. After the twenty four hours of drying time and for the results to fully come in,
immediately it was noticed that the lotions made the UV paper much lighter than the sprays. For all
three trials, sunscreen number two, made the UV paper the whitest, meaning it protected the UV paper
from sun exposure more.
It was already hypothesized that the lotion sunscreens would protect the UV paper more as all three
sunscreen lotions contained zinc oxide while none of the sprays contained this ingredient. Zinc oxide
is very helpful for sensitive skin when it comes to sun block and provides a broad spectrum sun
protection that helps prevent sunburns. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One error that did occur was that the lotions were applied very unevenly. The lotions were applied
evenly throughout the UV square and was just left as a thick material in the middle of the square. A
paint brush or using an even smaller amount may have helped apply the products evenly across the
small square. Another error that may have occurred was that the spray was applied directly to the UV
squares. This resulted in uneven and patchy coverage. This uneven coverage could have affected the
results as only parts of the paper had sunscreen applied to it. This may not have occurred if the spray
sunscreen was first sprayed into a small container and applied with a fingertip or a paintbrush to the

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure ( Vdi )
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) provides for the centralized administration, storage, and
provision of multiple computer systems via a centralized server which hosts compressed image files of
the operating systems as well as individual user desktops. The server that preforms this function is
called the hypervisor. In this way VDI functions as an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) architecture
that can seamlessly provide computer service to a client which can be as bare bones as a dummy
terminal or hearty as a full powered desktop workstation. This capability of VDI technology can alone
revolutionize computing, allowing for only a few centralized powerful systems to manage all of the
computer infrastructure within an organization, providing service to inexpensive, lightweight, and
portable dummy terminals to complete an organization s computer infrastructure. In addition to
identifying the general mechanics of VDI, benefits and pitfalls of the technology, certain legal
implications, and varying opinions of the technology, another primary element of research was
qualifying the sustainability of VDI technology as well. The research question for the purpose of the
paper therefore was formulated Can it be qualified that VDI is a sustainable technology? . If VDI was
qualifiable as a sustainable technology, its further widespread implementation could revolutionize
computing, transforming it into a commodity service based infrastructure, whereas if it were not

How Did Bo Jackson Have Done In His Sports Career
Have you ever wondered what Bo Jackson could have done in his sports career if he would have got

The Importance Of Search For Waldo s Life
So, where is Waldo? Yes, Waldo: the funny looking fellow in the red and white striped sweater,
identically patterned hat, black glasses, and blue jeans who has been evading the eyes of children and
adults since 1987. Ever since its publication 31 years ago, Waldo, with his ardent affinity for
backpacking and time travel, explores majestic castles and ruins, on a journey not yet named nor
realized. Once someone begins to go through the many pages of sublime color and intricate detail, it is
almost impossible to stop. At first, we want to find Waldo for the sake of entertainment, simply
flipping through pages leaving some of the oddities of the two page worldndiscovered. But before

Immersed in a huge crowd of people, we are expected to find Waldo, just like in our real lives we
happen to be crowded by people, money, school, and work. But what matters most in life is worth
searching in the chaos. Always placed in scenes of a chaotic nature, Waldo s adventures represent our
own lives. Much like looking for Waldo in a book, to find what we actually desire, we must ignore the
chaos happening around us and focus on what we really care and are passionate about. Our own
individual journeys can be seen to carry much similarity with our desire to uncover Waldo. Much like
how we strive for purpose, have many goals, and after attaining these goals, we lose purpose, and
must strive new feats to strive for. It make take a paltry seconds to discover the red and white sly guy,
or an entire lifetime. We may be searching for love, the perfect career, fortune, justice, or fame.
Whatever our endeavors may be, we shall look for Waldo. Though, there will be times where we see
apexes and nadirs, times we find him with celerity, or moments where we simply fail to find him and
must turn the page. But when we find Waldo, we turn the pages of life after a certain personal
milestone, ending that scene and it contents, whether they are like fairy tales and sandy bazaars. We
must go on to another chapter, onto another two fold spread to search for

eliminate all of the iphone cyborg people. Especially rosegold the leader of all iphones. Rose Gold and
his army only have one one goal to, and that s to make friends with the humans and live peacefully
together. Juan knows that the iphone s would never want to harm the humans so he plans to escape the

technological advancement of the clutch has had very little impact on clutch facing technology. Earlier
asbestos was used as friction material in single plate dry friction clutch. Asbestos is hazardous to
human health and detrimental to environment. So recently kevlar49/Epoxy material is used as friction

Clutch Facing Clutch facing is the heart of clutch assembly which actually transmits power from
engine to transmission or drive shaft. It is a friction surface which binds face plate of fly wheel and
pressure plate of clutch assembly. A major benefit to using a lining or facing is that it prevents metal to
metal contact within the clutch set, resulting in less wear and tear on the clutch components. Clutch
facings tend to have mid level coefficients of friction, and are responsible for removing most of the
clutch vibrations from the engine. They also aid in allowing engines to achieve high speeds without
damaging the components. Fig.1 Clutch Facing 3. Desirable Characteristics of Dry Clutch Facings
Clutch friction linings are subjected to severe rubbing so that generation of heat in relatively short
periods takes place. Therefore, the lining material should have a combination of the following
properties to withstand the operating

Importance Of Erformance Tuning And Partitioning
erformance tuning and partitioning go hand in hand, in that partitioning is one you can take to tune
performance from a database level, so I will start out with explaining tuning and then go into detail
about partitioning.
Performance tuning can take place from a DBA perspective, at the full database level, or from a
Developer perspective, on the level of individual packages/procedures/functions and SQL queries.
Before initiating performance tuning, you need to know where your performance bottlenecks are.
There are a number of ways a DBA can determine where the bottlenecks are, including AWR reports,
which can show the DBA what areas show the highest wait times. Once the specific SQL statements
or PL/SQL code has been targeted, we can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once a table is partitioned, it is easier and faster to access the data in the table, because a query can
access just one or a group of partitions on the table, rather than accessing all of the data in the parent
table. You can even specify a partition to use in your query. Queries can also work in parallel on the
table, running through multiple partitions at once, which is especially helpful if you find you can t
avoid a full table scan. So, even if your partitions aren t set up logically to your query, there is a
performance improvement to partitioning. There are several options for the type of partitioning you
can do. One common method is to partition by a range of data, for instance a date range. This is
helpful if your table has a lot of historical data, and only the newest data is normally accessed or
updated, rather than accessing ALL of the historical data, you can access just the latest data. It s
possible, on the other hand, that your table is usually accessed by a column with distinct values, such
as a department id, in which case it might be better to use list partitioning, or you could have a
composite partition, such as a range list partition, such as organizing the partitions by department id
and a date. There is a drawback to partitioning in that you have to specify each of the partitions. If you

Blood Doping, Human Growth Hormones, Steroid, Beta 2 Agonists
Erythropoietin (EPO), blood doping, human growth hormones, steroid, beta 2 agonists. These are a
few substances that come into mind when discussing the topic performance enhancing drug also
known as doping. Doping is defined as the use of drugs to enhance performance and gain advantage
over the other competitors, and it has been an ongoing problem in the sport community since the early
centuries, with an increasing trend showing today. Envision yourself competing against an opponent
who has been doping! How would you feel about that? Would you feel cheated? I know I would. As
all the hard work, dedication, and effort I have put into my training has been reduce down to nothing.
Can you also imagine what doping would do to the integrity of sport! The intrinsic worth that make
sports so unique and important to society, such as the capability to challenge and push ourselves
beyond our own limits, the honesty and sportsmanship qualities athletes learn and gain. So, does
doping destroy the integrity of sport? Some may argue yes and some may say no for a few reasons that
will be examined further into the essay. However, my response would be yes , as I personally believe
those qualities that creates the uniqueness of sport would be eliminate when doping is involved. The
manipulation of performance enhancing drugs will impact the sporting community in an unnecessary
manner, by giving it an appalling reputation. This appalling reputation will develop as doping conveys

School Uniforms Mandatory Research
The topic of whether or not school uniforms should be allowed has always been highly debated. The
reason why it is such a hot topic is because it pertains to a student s individuality and the possible
benefits they may bring. This is something that has sparked a bit of friction in the education world.
Hours and hours of research have been poured into this subject in order to find a definitive answer. If
the research has proved anything, it is that school uniforms are ineffective and they restrict self
expression. Contrary to popular belief, school uniforms do not provide the benefits that many claim
they do. School uniforms simply don t work in the real world. Now some may feel inclined to disagree

Analysis Of The Movie Miracle
Miracle review
During the Lake Placid Olympics in 1980. USA, a team that consisted of college kids defeated the
heavily favorite Soviet Union in hockey. Eventually, team USA won the gold medal against Finland.
USA s first gold medal since 1960 in hockey. The 1980 USA hockey gold medal victory is arguably
the greatest moment in U.S. sports history. The 2003 film Miracle is about the events that led USA to
victory. Also, the film exemplifies that an underdog can truly win. In my opinion, the film Miracle is
the best well made and most influential sports movie. I give it 10 out 10 stars, based on the realistic
action scenes, inspirational quotes and underdog story.
The first piece of criteria I used was Inspirational quotes. Quotes that have a deeper meaning in them.
In the movie, legendary head coach Herb brooks of team USA said, Great moments are born from
great opportunities . I find this quote inspirational because it s a huge opportunity to represent your
country and do something that hasn t been in 20 years, which was winning the gold medal. Russia was
going through the Cold war. In addition, another memorable quote is, Mike Eurzione Winthrop,
Massachusetts! . Who do you play for? . I play for the United states of America! . That s all gentlemen
. This quote happened right after when the U.SA tied the subpar Norwegian team 3 3. During the
game, some of the players were distracting themselves away from the

Disadvantages Of Intelligence Led Policing
In preparation for my debate on the topics of intelligence led policing and Compstat policing, I have
discovered the many advantages and disadvantages of using intelligence led policing and Compstat
policing. According to Carter Carter (2009), intelligence led policing is the collection of and analysis
of data relating to crime, used by law enforcement in developing tactical responses to threats and/or
strategic planning related to emerging changing threats (p. 317). When applied correctly, intelligence
led policing is a tool used for information sharing in identifying threats and developing responses to
prevent those threats from reaching fruition (Carter, 2011). One of the advantages of using intelligence
led policing is its incorporation of data analysts. The role of the data analyst in the context of
intelligence led policing allows them to take specially trained analysts to take raw data from
information found in reports and translate it into useful information for the officers, allowing the
police to deploy resources more effectively and efficiently (Griffiths, 2016). Another advantage is its
application through preventative and predictive policing (proactive policing), in which law
enforcement take data and identify crucial variables such as terrorism or the emergence of criminal
organizations, in hopes of stopping the problem at its roots (Carter, 2011). Terrorism is especially
important and emphasized after the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Centers in

Analysis Of The Canadian Salmon Fishy
The subjects presented in chapters1 3 in the Policy Analysis book are The Canadian Salmon Fishery,
What is policy Analysis and Toward Professional Ethics. The Canadian Salmon Fishery preview is in
chapter one. The chapter talks about how the product of policy analysis is advice. How the advice for
policy comes in many forms. The purpose is to show a comprehensive analysis that has a description

recommendation (Weimer, Vining pg.1). One of the stories in this chapter discuss, the Salmon fishery

Application Of Identification For Biometrics
In order for biometrics to work, there must be a database of information containing substantial
information on each individual. By nature, biometric systems collect more information than just the
users fingerprints, retinal patterns or other biometric data. An individual who uses a fingerprint contact
system allows government agencies and local law enforcement access to their every move. Most
systems will record the whereabouts of an individual at the time of scan. Organizations will have the
ability to anticipate the actions of an individual, and the loss of privacy will grow tremendously. Cross
trading of an individual s personal data will increase, as an organization will have the attainability to
share data in the market. If biometric details such as your fingerprints are compromised, it is not going
to be possible to provide you with a new scan right away. Pam Dixon s honey pot analogy has some
truth, but in the end law breakers will be held accountable for their actions. Individuals on probation
or parole already have to report their whereabouts to a law official. However, the common citizen is
placed under surveillance and constant security breaches that could ruin their credit, reputation and
lives. For those who have overcome their past mistakes in the judicial system, they will be constantly
criticize and monitored for their personal consumer purchases. No technology is perfect, any loss of
data, hackers or terrorist threats to the database would cause a

The Issue Of Child Onset Schizophrenia Essay
SOWK 506 Fall 2015
Assignment #3: Child Onset Schizophrenia Becki Kennedy and Mary Marrone
USC School of Social Work December 11, 2015
Martha Lyon Levine
Introduction This research paper focuses on the issue of child onset schizophrenia, specifically looking
at the prognosis, symptoms, stigma, and most effective treatment options for children. This topic has
become a significant social issue as a result of the recent mass school shootings throughout the nation
and the associated stigma. Severe mental illnesses, especially schizophrenia, are being severely
impacted by stigma. Society today views schizophrenia as dangerous , furthering this stigma. Further,
little research has been done of childhood onset schizophrenia (Hollis, 2003). However, research has
shown that individuals with an earlier onset or diagnosis experience more persistent and debilitating
symptoms than those with an older age of onset (Findling Schulz, 2005). Along with a higher
occurrence of more severe symptoms, child onset schizophrenia is a complicated issue because
children are being prescribed psychotropic medications at an early age during a period of critical brain
development (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2014). This greatly affects development and exposes children
to very severe side effects of the medication, resulting in a lot of patients refusing medication and the
treatment they deserve.
As social workers, it is important to look at different behavioral

The Effects of Anxiety on Adolescent Women Research This paper includes five articles that report
results from research conducted to observe how adolescents, specifically female, are affected by the
anxiety disorders. Blumenthal, Leen Feldner, Babson, Frala (2011) stated Adolescence is a key period
in terms of the onset and intensification of psychological diagnoses and symptomatology across
clinical domains (e.g., depression, panic attacks; and both empirical and theoretical work highlight this
phase in terms of social anxiety specifically . However, anxiety can affect those entering the pubescent
period in more than just socially based forms.
Blumenthal, Leen Feldner, Babson, Frala (2011) performed an observational study on various
participants to determine whether or not anxiety affects which ages and genders most severely. The
purpose of this paper was to compare the anxiety levels in those reaching the pubescent stages at
different maturity levels. They hypothesized that anxiety would be most severe in those who matured
earlier and hit a pubescent period younger. Procedures: Youth were screened for particularly erratic
criteria, and the eligible were scheduled for the experiment, only when participant and parental
consent, for child participation, was received. Once parents and youth

A Christian Art Analysis
As I write this post, a recent memory springs up in my mind. Earlier this year, my dad had an art show
at the Steffen Thomas Museum focused on Christian Art. One afternoon, Chris and I decided to go
over there so I could look at his show. I am always amazed at my dad s art and this was no exception.
As we went from painting to painting, I could not imagine the countless hours he spent on each one of
these paintings.
However, our trip did not last countless hours as I looked over 30 paintings in about twenty five
minutes. This was not due to my lack of interest, but more to my novice mindset towards art. Art is
similar to most skill activities in that people that are active in said activity can better understand and
articulate the small actions that lead to a great piece of art, a great football play, or a great movie. I am
embarrassed to say that I did not pay close enough attention to the intricacies of my dad s art, but I
accepted to write these articles in hopes I could learn more about my dad s favorite past time. ... Show

When I first saw these two paintings side by side on Chris s website I could not distinguish if one was
just the finished product of the other. The first painting seems to have larger and thicker brush strokes
than the second which has more white spaces separating the strokes. Both paintings are surrounded by
a black box that has an opening on the northwest corner. The opening could be an escape from
whatever the black box contains. But I do not believe that the box holds evil or Chris would have used
a different color than a calming light blue. Imagine the light blue being replaced by a dark red, the
paintings would have a menacing feel to it. The shapes inside the black box make the painting

Real Courage
I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in
his hand. It s when you know you re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it
through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do (Lee 149). In the book To KIll A

the book, Atticus wants to show his children that in some situations they may not come up as the

He wants them to apprehend that whether or not they triumph in a situation is not what matters;
however, it is the fact that they tried and did their absolute best. The one thing that doesn t abide by
majority rule is a person s conscience (Lee 140). This quote explains that Atticus will do what he
believes is honorable, even if other people don t agree with him. He tries to implement this lesson on
his children by teaching them that they shouldn t use violence to solve their problems. Scout tries to
take this into deliberation, but she fails when Cecil Jacobs remarks something crude about her father.
No matter what anybody says to you, don t you let em get your goat. Try fighting with your head for a
change... it s a good one, even if it does resist learning (Lee 101). Atticus tells Scout this after she
beats Cecil Jacobs for taunting her about her father defending a black man. In this quote, he implies
that more trouble will come their way and that she shouldn t take offense to what they were saying.
Atticus takes risks if he believes that what he is doing is the right choice. He takes the Tom Robinson
case, even when everyone in Maycomb believes he shouldn t. Yeah, but Atticus aims to defend him.
That s what I don t like about it (Lee 218). This quote clarifies, that Atticus believes in taking a stand
for what he believes in. Many people believe that he should not be defending Tom Robinson because
of his race. However, Atticus presumes that everyone in Maycomb should be evaluated equally even if
they are from a different ethnic

The Real Sex Addiction Essay
In this time period, there are many different disorders and illnesses that go unnoticed, and unknown.
Society creates stereotypes about illnesses such as obsessive compulsive disorder, clinical Depression,
and many other mental afflictions. Another that seems to remain controversial and misunderstood is
sexual compulsive behaviors. Many see it as an excuse to act a certain way, or think a certain way; in
reality it is a serious mental disorder that can cause devastating effects on the people that are
consumed by them and the people who are around them. Something that is however, known about
sexual compulsive behaviors is that there are certain things that can emotionally damage a person and
cause them to have these behaviors. The three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using the term sexual compulsive behaviors is more appropriate because it addresses the symptoms
that some term as sex addiction , but use a term that is more effective in describing what it really is
and how it should be treated. A person uses sexual compulsive behaviors because they lack in some
other area, such a coping mechanisms, or because they have insecure personal attachments. Something
has to cause these behaviors, they aren t caused by any chemical like drugs and alcohol.
Another major argument about this subject arises because it is in human nature to feel the need to
reproduce and to have sex. This makes treating the problem baffling , because it goes against human
nature to completely cut out all forms of sex. This is another reason why sex addiction is incorrect
terminology, because sex isn t hurtful to oneself, however it does become a problem when it starts to
affect a person s life in detrimental ways. It only becomes a problem when it is out of control. It is
normal for some people to have a higher sex drive then others, and it is healthy to want to have
multiple partners. The problem comes into play when it is needed for emotional purposes, to need
validation and affection. Only then is it considered unhealthy, because people should have secure
relationships, and coping mechanisms that can help them get the feelings they need. Just like many
other compulsive behaviors, sexual compulsive behaviors can be treated, just not

Essay On A Quilt Of A Country By Nadine Gordimer
A quilt of a country is an essay about the idea that every man in the united states is created equal.
Anna Quindlen says that the united states is like a huge quilt. That means that it is full of many
different crazy people who come together as one when it matters. Also this means if our country is in
danger like on 9/11 the people of the united states no matter what race help each other. Also in the text
she compares America to a mongrel what she means by this is that
America is full of all different people from all different races and people who are of two races. I
believe that the United States is better as a mixed nation with all different races.

important part of a person s life and can be seen everywhere.
What all these stories have in common is they all talk about something that is seen in our everyday
lives. The first story talks about how America is a nation full of all different people from all different
races. She refers to our nation as a mongrel of a nation meaning it is full of mixed people. The second
story talks about slavery in africa and how it affected her. You can still see forms of slavery in today s
society like in china were the kids work in horrible conditions for little pay. Lastly the third story talks
about symbolism and how a dad needed to pay more attention to his daughter. You can see symbols all
over the world in many different shapes, sizes, and forms.
In conclusion i believe that all of these stories are important in their own way. Also i believe that these
points need to be solved before we can move on. Child slavery in china is a huge problem that needs
to be resolved. Also neglective parents need to be talked to about what they are doing to their child.

Conformity And Rebellion In Popular Culture Analysis
Conformity and Rebellion in Popular Culture and Sexuality In the first lecture for this class, Professor
Creekmur asked the question; is sex popular (Creekmur Aug. 20)? As he often does in the course,
Creekmur doesn t give a simple, clear cut answer, but instead offers a paradox, that while sex is an
aggressively private act, it is also a good that is consumed, in our magazines and on our televisions.
This paradox ultimately sets the stage for the rest of this class, demonstrating how something as
intimate as one s sexuality can come to reinforce popular conventions of normalcy and deviancy
within society at large, and what this essay will attempt to address.
One of the first ideas that Professor Creekmur introduced to class was the fact ... Show more content

At the end of the nineteenth century, progressive movements emerged and affected many aspects of
the United States such as education, culture and politics. Since the rapidly increase of enrollment in
high school in this period, educators and reformers desired a apt method to teach these students and
debated what should be involved in curriculum. The ideals of progressive education led by John

Even though the progressive education was criticized in the mid 1950s because of cold war and
conservatism, I expect that it was still significantly influential in school in 1970s. The majority of the
teachers should not only teach following the textbook in a general way, but also use specific methods
for students of their peculiar characters. They are the guidance to help students acquire skill based on
students interest, not the controller to introduce knowledge to pupils in an ossifying method (Ravitch,
2000). However, there are only a few teachers teaching progressively. For instance, the favorite
teacher of my advisor was willing to leave for the better students many initiatives and help students
improve initiative and originality. The teacher required students using small timber to establish the
physical models and inspired them to do group work. The majority of the teachers were narrow
minded. They taught for testing in an ossifying way and never encouraged students to go outside for
intellectual development. Group workings were not allowed in the most courses. Teachers preferred
receiving homework or reports from pupils individually rather than the representative of a study
group. The majority teachers thought most pupils are not naturally desire to learn the knowledge.

Nefertiti Book Report
Nefertiti by Michelle Moran is an entertaining book about the famous Royal Wife of Akhenaten. The
novel is told from the point of view of Nefertiti s little sister, Mutnodjmet. It begins immediately
before Nefertiti is chosen to become Akhenaten s Chief Wife. The book follows Nefertiti and her
family throughout their life as the royal family in Memphis and then transitioning into the move to
Amarna. The story stops only after the death of Nefertiti and Meritaten and the crowning of
Tutankhamun as Pharaoh of Egypt. Moran captures a Nefertiti that is ambitious, powerful, and
sometimes scared. Nefertiti is thrown into the royal family as a teenager and was told to try and
control the heretic Pharaoh, Akhenaten. At many times, the reader gets a glimpse of that worried and
terrified young girl, but throughout most of the novel, Nefertiti is portrayed to be a strong and

The Basis for Judicial Reviews
Judicial Review is only available where public powers or duties are being exercised. It is not available
for Private Law decisions. The basis for Judicial Review comes from the Separation of Powers
doctrine, specifically at a Federal level Chapters I, II and III of the Constitution. The Administrative
Decision (Judicial Review) Act 1977 (Cth) was enacted to simply the procedure for seeking Judicial
Review of Commonwealth matters, however not all administrative actions are covered and the
Judiciary Act 1903 (Cth) is still relevant. The State of Victoria has similar legislation, the
Administrative Law Act 1978. Judicial Review will only look at the legality of the decision, not any
fact finding or factual conclusions. Merits review is essentially a fresh look at the original decision
where the reviewer can even consider new evidence. Merits review is characterised by the capacity for
substitution of the decision of the reviewing person or body for that of the original decision maker
Merits Review is only available if an Act provides this right. Such review can be conducted internally,
by the same department who made the decision, or to an external Tribunal. The Administration
Appeals Tribunal Act 1975 (Cth) created the Administrative Appeal s Tribunal which is the Federal
Merits review Tribunal. In Victoria, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) is the

Theme Of Evil In Beowulf
Beowulf versus Evil Heroes can be in our everyday life or someone you ve seen only once but all of
our heroes have something in common. Their heroic traits make up who they are and some character
traits my heroes have in common are kindness, courage, intelligence, and empathy. Beowulf is also a
hero in my eyes because he possesses all of these traits and more. What traits do your heroes have in
common? Robert Nye s long poem, Beowulf: a New Telling, is a fictional long poem about a hero,
Beowulf, who constantly battles the face of evil in many forms. The theme of this text is about good
vs. evil which shows up many times, one after another. To start, Beowulf as a young warrior portrayed

Bravery is an important character trait for heroes in order to help them defeat other monsters/ evil and
this is still the same for Beowulf as he defeats Grendel s reincarnation. Therefore, when Beowulf was
a young warrior, he had many character traits of a hero including being gallant, confident, and bold.
Continuing on, Beowulf as an older king has traits different from Beowulf as a young warrior such as
cunning and selfless which fuels my reason of why Beowulf is a dynamic character. For example,
Beowulf is strategic as he devises a plan involving bees against the Firedrake and so Beowulf releases
the Queen Bee just as, The Firedrake took a deep breath and swallowed [it] (98 103). During this
ordeal, Beowulf cunningly creates a plan to defeat the Firedrake by releasing the Queen Bee into the
mouth in which the rest of the bees follow, stinging the Firedrake from the inside. The word clever
means able to use your intelligence to do something, especially in a slightly dishonest way (Longman
dictionary, 178). Beowulf is dynamic because whilst Beowulf was a young warrior, he would have
never thought to attempt this. Beowulf needed this trait as an older king because he would have never
been able to finish off the Firedrake if he wasn t cunning. Additionally, Beowulf is caring as he says,
The Firedrake will pay for what it has done not only with its life, but with the gold he keeps watch

Extraction of plant material
Method of Hassan et al. (2015) was adopted for preparation of plant material and extract with minor
modifications. The 70% acetone (Merck, Germany) extracts were prepared by dissolving fine powder
of C. nutans in 1:10 solvent using ultrasonic extraction in an ultrasonic bath for an hour. Then the
extracts were filtered with the aid of a Bucker funnel and Whatman filter paper #1. The extracts were
preserved in airtight bottles at 40°C for further use.
Preliminary qualitative phytochemical analysis
Qualitative phytochemical screening of the extracts was performed using a standard procedure by
Sofowora (1993), Harborne (1984, pp. 4 16) and Trease and Evans (2002, pp. 23 67).
1. Test for alkaloids
A 2 mL of potassium iodide was added to crude extract, which forms brown precipitate with alkaloids
solutions.
2. Test for flavonoids
A 2 mL of sodium hydroxide solution (2%) was added to crude extract, followed by few drops of
diluted acid. Transformation from intense red orange color to colorless indicated the presence of
flavonoids.
3. Test for glycosides
A 2 mL of glacial acetic acid (1 2 drops of 2% ferric chloride) was mixed with crude extract. Then, the
mixture was poured carefully into test tube with 2 mL of concentrated sulfuric acid. Presence of
cardiac glycosides was determined by the

The Go-Between
The Go Between
The story The Go Between is a short story written by Ali Smith in 2009. The story was written for a
collection of short stories written to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the United Nations adoption of
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The story is inspired by Article 13, which stands for the
right to freedom of movement.
In the story we read about a 33 year old man who s name is not revealed. The 33 year old man is a
former microbiologist and has worked in a university. In the text we follow this man who gives the
reader a directly insight in how it s like to be an African refugee trying to cross the border between
Morocco and Spain. The narrator of the story has tried several times to cross the border ... Show more

I speak these, and also some others. (P.3, ll.31 32) Even with all these qualifications it is not possible
for the narrator to enter Europe. He is simply limited because of his origin and the color of his skin.
The narrator feels that he and the other refugees are invisible and not wanted, it s almost like he doesn
t exist. A flower will be planted for every single person in Tangier. But not us. Not me. I m not here...I
m speaking to you and I m not really here. (P.5, l.116 118)
The refugees wish so desperately to enter Europe that the narrator describes it as the Spanish
blindness. From the coast of Morocco you are able to see the lights from Spain and the Spanish border
and all the refugees can think of is how much they want to leave Morocco and enter Europe. The
refugees also pay all their money to a Network that promises them a boat, but the Network only takes
advantage of the desperate refugees so the boat never arrives. All the men in this building suffer from
it, Spanish Blindness. All you can see is Spain. All you can think is Spain tonight, Spain tonight. They
have paid all their money to the Network, and the Network has prom ised a boat, maybe tonight. This
boat never comes. (P.4, l.73 75) The narrator claims that he does not have this Spanish blindness
anymore, that belongs to the past and he actually says that he wishes he could go back, but that s not a
possibility, he have to move forward. My

How Does Poe Create An Allegory In The Masque Of The Red...
Whether people acknowledge it or not, most people s greatest fear is death. In the short story, The
Masque of the Red Death, by E. Poe, he shows how people were trying to escape death, but may not
see what was to come. Early in the story, Prince Prospero and his friends were trying to escape the red
death. With this, the Prince throws a masquerade. Instead of seeing what was right in front of them,
they were too caught up in things that they could not see. To strengthen his allegory of life in The
Masque of the Red Death, Poe expresses that avoiding something does not make it go away through
his portrayal of the castle, the courtiers, and rooms one and seven. Prince Prospero lived in a very
magnificent castle due to his immense wealth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Prince Prospero s castle, he had a hallway of seven rooms. The rooms went from one direction to
another, starting in the east, changing by color as they went. Poe mentioned, That at the eastern
extremity was hung, for example, in blue and vividly blue were its windows (84). The symbol of the
rooms one and seven represents new life and death. With this, Poe shows how the room started in the
eastern extremity, just as the sun rises from the east, and is blue just as blue symbolizes life. Poe also
writes, The seventh apartment was closely shrouded in black velvet tapestries that hung down the
walls (84). In this quote, he shows how the last room was black, which symbolizes death. This last
room was in the far western extremity. This shows that this was the last room, and everything must
end there. Consequently, many people did not notice the two different colors in the room. The first
color of that room was black, which was death. The other color was red which can symbolize blood.
Also, the colors of these rooms showed how the death could not be kept out. Above all, these colors
the stages of life. Therefore, the colors of the rooms showed what was

Timber Creek Camp Research Paper
Every year, The Barn Wesley Foundation provides us with the amazing opportunity to experience a
connection with God at Timber Creek Camp. We are blessed to enjoy three days at the camp and share
a unique, bonding moment with all of our peers from Perkinston and many students from other
colleges who also attend the event. I have been able to attend this event twice, and each time has
proven to be a wonderful adventure, helping each and every one of us surpass our difficulties and
leave our burdens on Christ. The camp is located in Morton, Mississippi, surrounded by a vast, yet
calm lake and countless trees. At the camp we stay in large cabins filled with twin bunk beds and a
peaceful atmosphere. This year, I discovered a trail that goes around the whole camp and it was quite
fun hiking through it with my friends. Although, before we get to the camp there is a pre determined
schedule to which we must abide. We ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The camp withholds a deep, meaningful sense to me and inundates my soul in a spiritual atmosphere.
The peace I am able to feel at the Camp is unprecedented, and I have come to realize it is due to the
perfect combination of nature and God´s presence. From the very first minute we get there and are
able to witness the alluring sight, we are able to feel peace and an overwhelming feeling of joy. These
sensations intensify during worship at the chapel, supported by the psalms sung by everyone in the
crowd. When I worship God, I praise him for all the good he has done in my life. I also ask Him for
wisdom and a clear perspective so I can see how I should live my life. It is unbelievable how I can
actually feel his presence in that place, and how He embraces me when I need it the most. The camp is
also a great opportunity for some students to give their life to Christ, or if they have wandered off his
presence, they are able to reconnect once

Comparing The Israelites And The Puritans
The Puritans believe they are morally superior to everyone else. The Puritans are about to leave
England. They are Israelites is what they are. They are fleeing Egypt. Good Riddance! Next stop, land
of milk/honey(4). Vowell uses a simile to compare the Puritans to the Israelites in order to reveal how
the Puritans consider themselves. The Old Testament Israelites, references specifically the Israelites
that escaped from Egypt in the Book of Exodus. After the population of Jews in Egypt had become so
numerous the Pharaoh feared what they might be able to do and put them into slavery. The Israelites
eventually escaped Egypt by crossing the Red Sea and eventually make it to land God had gifted
them, the land of Canaan. The Puritans compare to the Israelites because they too felt some religious
persecution. Catholic rulers like Mary I persecuted Protestants and had many executed. The Puritans
also flee from a land not as pure as themselves in order to start anew. Cotton himself tells the Puritans
that they are God s chosen, and America is their Canaan. The Israelites inspire the Puritans to get
away. The Old Testament Israelites are to the Puritans what the blues was to the Rolling Stones a
source of inspiration, a renewable resource of riffs(2). Vowell uses an analogy to compare two unlike
things like Puritans and the Rolling Stones. The blues is a genre of music originating in the Deep
South of the United States around the end of the 19th century. The emotion

Middle Passage Stage
The first stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade was known as the Outward Passage . This is where
ships carried goods from Europe to trade in Africa for captured slaves. The Middle Passage was the
second stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The last stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade was the
Return Passage which is where ships returned back to Europe from the New World, usually carrying
cargo that consisted of sugar and tobacco they got in exchange for the slaves. The Middle Passage was
infamously known as the most cruel and inhumane way to ship slaves from Africa to the West Indies.
The enslaved people were packed onto ships, forced to lay next to each other shoulder to shoulder.
The Middle Passage took about seven to eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the measurements varied depending on the ship. Women and children were usually not
chained and remained unshackled. Men stayed in separate holding areas that were on opposite sides of
the ship. Although there was only such little space provided to the enslaved people, the captain and
crew boarded more than 600 slaves onto a ship at a time. Between the 16th and 20th century, 10 to 15
million enslaved Africans were forcibly shipped across the Atlantic.
The conditions were incredibly harsh on the Middle Passage . When the ships docked at port for rest,
there was always a chance that they could be attacked from enemies or pirates. They were even
sometimes attacked by native tribes if they did not like their arrival. If the ships were faced with bad
weather conditions, it would make the journey longer. Due to this the daily food rations the slaves had
twice a day would be reduced greatly which resulted in many of them getting sick or nearly starving to
death. These weather conditions affected both the crew and captain as well as the enslaved Africans,
but the conditions were much worse for the enslaved Africans as they also dealt with mental, physical,
and sexual abuse/assault from the captain and crew. These punishments were mainly due to rebellion
of the enslaved Africans. Due to the slaves outnumbering the crew, they thought the rebellion would
be successful. In spite of the punishments, the slaves often rebelled or

Federal Regulation of Organic Farming
Is there a federal standard for what organic means when it comes to farm fresh milk?
Ruva (Ruvarashe) Munyariwa
Introduction to political Science, POS1001 Professor Schuman
January 23, 2011
With the organic industry booming and up until recently showing an annual growth rate of 20% it has
been necessary for the federal government to step in and regulate the previously self regulated
industry. Initially, regulation of this industry was implemented by private nonprofit organizations and
some state governments as a way to put an end to consumer fraud and to ensure the integrity of
organic food. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Preventive medical care in the form of vaccines, vitamins, minerals and any approved supplements is
strongly relied on to keep the animals as healthy as possible. The process used to bottle and pasteurize
the milk produced from these cows must also be certified and the organic milk has to be kept separate
from nonorganic milk to uphold its integrity as an organic commodity. Other ingredients used in this
process all have to be organic unless there is no organic equivalent. Organic chemicals like volatile
synthetic solvents and other synthetic processing aids are also prohibited during the bottling process
further upholding the integrity of the milk.
Critics of the certification system argue that it s easy to flout the rules either blatantly or by creatively
interpreting the rules and the regulations. An example of this occurred in 2004 when Bayliss ranch, a
food ingredient producer, based in California tried to use the fact that because the tap water that they
were using in their products had been certified organic, they could legally use the label organic on
their products. These critics also argue that the certification process provides a podium by which
special interest groups and lobbyists can press for amendments and exceptions to established rules and
regulations favorable to large scale operators meaning that conventionally produced

Lil Wayne Impact On Society
For any kid that was born in the 1990 s, it s rare that you will find a person that doesn t mention Lil
Wayne in the greatest of all time conversation. While many older fans seem to have a negative
reaction to that claim, it s hard to deny the impact that Wayne has had in hip hop. Wayne in his career
has created the term bling , made mixtapes a popular trend, and one of the few rappers to sell a million
copies in a week without the benefit of streaming. Though Wayne is one of the most influential
rappers in history, his career as of late has struggled to rival those of his peers in the greatest category.
Let me explain. A lot of the biggest rappers in the game eventually fall off, in hip hop it s inevitable.
With the solo projects that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When have we ever seen a superstar feel the need to be in someone else s shadow? After the drama
surrounding Wayne and his current label situation, he still would rather turn around and sign to
another artist. Wayne is a Legend, who needed Rick Ross to talk to Birdman like they were at a parent
teacher conference. Ross in one song has said more about the situation than Wayne has, in the last four
years. I don t know what Wayne has in store for music fans, and I honestly don t care. A few years ago
I absolutely hated Young Thug, and now Wayne seems to be the one following in his footsteps. I m
sure some of you may read this article in anger, but be honest for a second. While I m not discrediting
the legacy of Wayne, he s been saying his next album was coming soon since 2014. Why should we
still care? On Dj Khaled new trash song I m the One , Wayne seemed like the old man trying to fit in.

Ross explains that he understands that forensic psychology is a relatively new specialty area.
However, he added that working juvenile cases, domestic violence cases, and screening cases gave
him a much broader and clear perspective of the field. In addition, he stated that working closely with
law enforcement specialists and psychologists allowed him to gain more perspective. Both lawyers
and forensic psychologists assist law enforcement professionals in investigating and solving crime
(Baker De Long, 2009). Ross states that many legal issues that tangles with psychological nature
spawns from questions of human behaviors and mental states and processes of human beings. Ross
explains that these past works enabled him to appreciate the area of forensic psychology. He further
states some of the tactics and skills that this discipline provides. Forensic psychology furnishes his
skills to determine the competency of a criminal defendant, the extent to which an eyewitness is
reliable, psychological defenses a criminal defendant can rely on, and how much discretion should
judges have in sentencing. Ross explains the new approach that this field offers and how it may use
scientific research and empirical knowledge to handle these issues. (Counselor Ross was very general
when answering). First Deputy Prosecutor is generally responsible for overlooking other deputy
prosecutors.

  • 3. Sn2 Reaction With 2-Bromobutane In this experiment, the purpose was to create and observe the effects of a S_N 1 reaction. Silver nitrate was dissolved in ethanol. The nitrate ion is a decent nucleophile, and ethanol is a fairly powerful solvent. The difference in a SN1 reaction than an SN2 reaction is that a carbocation is formed. The leaving group wants to leave on it s own, causing a multi step synthesis. The leaving group leaves, creating a carbocation. The nucleophile finds the carbocation and attaches itself to it. More substitution is preferred for SN1 reactions because the more stable a molecule is, the more stable the carbocation will be. This is because chlorine is a poor leaving group and the molecule is primary, which means there s no steric hindrance, which is not ideal for a SN1 reaction. In test tube 4, the reaction with 1 bromobutane formed some cloudiness after heating. This should not have happened because there is no stability in this molecule. • 5. The Partition Of India And India 1. The Partition of India is the separation of India that occurred in 1947. This all began as anticolonial elites in the Indian National Congress Party began to negotiate about a peaceful transfer of power from the British. WWII caused a crisis in relations between the British, the Muslim League, and Indian National Conference (Hindu dominated). Ghandi was the leading figure of the INC. He advocated for a unified Hindu and Muslim Indian, but other officials however disagreed about what kind of independent state India should have. The Hindus were the majority, and the Muslims were the minority. There was much debate about which culture would define the new nation. Up until this point it was the Hindu culture that defined Indian culture. In 1946 riots broke out between the Hindus and Muslims, and the leader of the Muslim League demanded that British India be partitioned into separate Muslim and Hindu states. So in order to avoid a civil war, colonial rulers decided to divide the subcontinent in two parts: India and Pakistan. On August 14th, 1947 Pakistan gained Independence from Britain and one day later India did as well. Unfortunately after this newfound independence violence broke out. It is estimated that 1 million Hindus and Muslims killed one another. As a result of the violence, 12 million Hindus and Muslims left their homes to relocate in the new countries where they would be majority. The experiment was conducted by cutting a UV paper into squares and labeling each one with each of the six sunscreen. A small amount of each sunscreen was applied to a square and was taken outside for three minutes to be exposed to the sun. The UV squares were taken back inside to be soaked in water for one minute each. The squares were left to dry for twenty four hours. Three trials were conducted for each sunscreen. After the twenty four hours of drying time and for the results to fully come in, immediately it was noticed that the lotions made the UV paper much lighter than the sprays. For all three trials, sunscreen number two, made the UV paper the whitest, meaning it protected the UV paper from sun exposure more. It was already hypothesized that the lotion sunscreens would protect the UV paper more as all three sunscreen lotions contained zinc oxide while none of the sprays contained this ingredient. Zinc oxide is very helpful for sensitive skin when it comes to sun block and provides a broad spectrum sun protection that helps prevent sunburns. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Virtual Desktop Infrastructure ( Vdi ) Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) provides for the centralized administration, storage, and provision of multiple computer systems via a centralized server which hosts compressed image files of the operating systems as well as individual user desktops. The server that preforms this function is called the hypervisor. In this way VDI functions as an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) architecture that can seamlessly provide computer service to a client which can be as bare bones as a dummy terminal or hearty as a full powered desktop workstation. This capability of VDI technology can alone revolutionize computing, allowing for only a few centralized powerful systems to manage all of the computer infrastructure within an organization, providing service to inexpensive, lightweight, and portable dummy terminals to complete an organization s computer infrastructure. In addition to identifying the general mechanics of VDI, benefits and pitfalls of the technology, certain legal implications, and varying opinions of the technology, another primary element of research was qualifying the sustainability of VDI technology as well. The research question for the purpose of the paper therefore was formulated Can it be qualified that VDI is a sustainable technology? . Importance Of Erformance Tuning And Partitioning erformance tuning and partitioning go hand in hand, in that partitioning is one you can take to tune performance from a database level, so I will start out with explaining tuning and then go into detail about partitioning. Performance tuning can take place from a DBA perspective, at the full database level, or from a Developer perspective, on the level of individual packages/procedures/functions and SQL queries. Before initiating performance tuning, you need to know where your performance bottlenecks are. There are a number of ways a DBA can determine where the bottlenecks are, including AWR reports, which can show the DBA what areas show the highest wait times. Once a table is partitioned, it is easier and faster to access the data in the table, because a query can access just one or a group of partitions on the table, rather than accessing all of the data in the parent table. You can even specify a partition to use in your query. Queries can also work in parallel on the table, running through multiple partitions at once, which is especially helpful if you find you can t avoid a full table scan. So, even if your partitions aren t set up logically to your query, there is a performance improvement to partitioning. There are several options for the type of partitioning you can do. One common method is to partition by a range of data, for instance a date range. This is helpful if your table has a lot of historical data, and only the newest data is normally accessed or updated, rather than accessing ALL of the historical data, you can access just the latest data. It s possible, on the other hand, that your table is usually accessed by a column with distinct values, such as a department id, in which case it might be better to use list partitioning, or you could have a composite partition, such as a range list partition, such as organizing the partitions by department id and a date. There is a drawback to partitioning in that you have to specify each of the partitions. If you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Disadvantages Of Intelligence Led Policing In preparation for my debate on the topics of intelligence led policing and Compstat policing, I have discovered the many advantages and disadvantages of using intelligence led policing and Compstat policing. According to Carter Carter (2009), intelligence led policing is the collection of and analysis of data relating to crime, used by law enforcement in developing tactical responses to threats and/or strategic planning related to emerging changing threats (p. 317). When applied correctly, intelligence led policing is a tool used for information sharing in identifying threats and developing responses to prevent those threats from reaching fruition (Carter, 2011). One of the advantages of using intelligence led policing is its incorporation of data analysts. The role of the data analyst in the context of intelligence led policing allows them to take specially trained analysts to take raw data from information found in reports and translate it into useful information for the officers, allowing the police to deploy resources more effectively and efficiently (Griffiths, 2016). Another advantage is its application through preventative and predictive policing (proactive policing), in which law enforcement take data and identify crucial variables such as terrorism or the emergence of criminal organizations, in hopes of stopping the problem at its roots (Carter, 2011). Terrorism is especially important and emphasized after the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Centers in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Issue Of Child Onset Schizophrenia Essay SOWK 506 Fall 2015 Assignment #3: Child Onset Schizophrenia Becki Kennedy and Mary Marrone USC School of Social Work December 11, 2015 Martha Lyon Levine Introduction This research paper focuses on the issue of child onset schizophrenia, specifically looking at the prognosis, symptoms, stigma, and most effective treatment options for children. This topic has become a significant social issue as a result of the recent mass school shootings throughout the nation and the associated stigma. Severe mental illnesses, especially schizophrenia, are being severely impacted by stigma. Society today views schizophrenia as dangerous , furthering this stigma. Further, little research has been done of childhood onset schizophrenia (Hollis, 2003). However, research has shown that individuals with an earlier onset or diagnosis experience more persistent and debilitating symptoms than those with an older age of onset (Findling Schulz, 2005). Along with a higher occurrence of more severe symptoms, child onset schizophrenia is a complicated issue because children are being prescribed psychotropic medications at an early age during a period of critical brain development (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2014). This greatly affects development and exposes children to very severe side effects of the medication, resulting in a lot of patients refusing medication and the treatment they deserve. As social workers, it is important to look at different behavioral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blumenthal, Leen Feldner, Babson, Frala (2011) stated Adolescence is a key period in terms of the onset and intensification of psychological diagnoses and symptomatology across clinical domains (e.g., depression, panic attacks; and both empirical and theoretical work highlight this phase in terms of social anxiety specifically . However, anxiety can affect those entering the pubescent period in more than just socially based forms. Blumenthal, Leen Feldner, Babson, Frala (2011) performed an observational study on various participants to determine whether or not anxiety affects which ages and genders most severely. The purpose of this paper was to compare the anxiety levels in those reaching the pubescent stages at different maturity levels. They hypothesized that anxiety would be most severe in those who matured earlier and hit a pubescent period younger. Procedures: Youth were screened for particularly erratic criteria, and the eligible were scheduled for the experiment, only when participant and parental consent, for child participation, was received. One afternoon, Chris and I decided to go over there so I could look at his show. I am always amazed at my dad s art and this was no exception. As we went from painting to painting, I could not imagine the countless hours he spent on each one of these paintings. However, our trip did not last countless hours as I looked over 30 paintings in about twenty five minutes. This was not due to my lack of interest, but more to my novice mindset towards art. Art is similar to most skill activities in that people that are active in said activity can better understand and articulate the small actions that lead to a great piece of art, a great football play, or a great movie. I am embarrassed to say that I did not pay close enough attention to the intricacies of my dad s art, but I accepted to write these articles in hopes I could learn more about my dad s favorite past time. ... But I do not believe that the box holds evil or Chris would have used a different color than a calming light blue. Using the term sexual compulsive behaviors is more appropriate because it addresses the symptoms that some term as sex addiction , but use a term that is more effective in describing what it really is and how it should be treated. A person uses sexual compulsive behaviors because they lack in some other area, such a coping mechanisms, or because they have insecure personal attachments. Something has to cause these behaviors, they aren t caused by any chemical like drugs and alcohol. Another major argument about this subject arises because it is in human nature to feel the need to reproduce and to have sex. This makes treating the problem baffling , because it goes against human nature to completely cut out all forms of sex. This is another reason why sex addiction is incorrect terminology, because sex isn t hurtful to oneself, however it does become a problem when it starts to affect a person s life in detrimental ways. It only becomes a problem when it is out of control. It is normal for some people to have a higher sex drive then others, and it is healthy to want to have multiple partners. The problem comes into play when it is needed for emotional purposes, to need validation and affection. Only then is it considered unhealthy, because people should have secure relationships, and coping mechanisms that can help them get the feelings they need. This paradox ultimately sets the stage for the rest of this class, demonstrating how something as intimate as one s sexuality can come to reinforce popular conventions of normalcy and deviancy within society at large, and what this essay will attempt to address. Bravery is an important character trait for heroes in order to help them defeat other monsters/ evil and this is still the same for Beowulf as he defeats Grendel s reincarnation. Therefore, when Beowulf was a young warrior, he had many character traits of a hero including being gallant, confident, and bold. Continuing on, Beowulf as an older king has traits different from Beowulf as a young warrior such as cunning and selfless which fuels my reason of why Beowulf is a dynamic character. For example, Beowulf is strategic as he devises a plan involving bees against the Firedrake and so Beowulf releases the Queen Bee just as, The Firedrake took a deep breath and swallowed [it] (98 103). During this ordeal, Beowulf cunningly creates a plan to defeat the Firedrake by releasing the Queen Bee into the mouth in which the rest of the bees follow, stinging the Firedrake from the inside. The word clever means able to use your intelligence to do something, especially in a slightly dishonest way (Longman dictionary, 178). Beowulf is dynamic because whilst Beowulf was a young warrior, he would have never thought to attempt this. Poe mentioned, That at the eastern extremity was hung, for example, in blue and vividly blue were its windows (84). The symbol of the rooms one and seven represents new life and death. With this, Poe shows how the room started in the eastern extremity, just as the sun rises from the east, and is blue just as blue symbolizes life. Poe also writes, The seventh apartment was closely shrouded in black velvet tapestries that hung down the walls (84). In this quote, he shows how the last room was black, which symbolizes death. This last room was in the far western extremity. This shows that this was the last room, and everything must end there. Consequently, many people did not notice the two different colors in the room. The first color of that room was black, which was death. The other color was red which can symbolize blood. Also, the colors of these rooms showed how the death could not be kept out. Above all, these colors the stages of life. Therefore, the colors of the rooms showed what was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Timber Creek Camp Research Paper Every year, The Barn Wesley Foundation provides us with the amazing opportunity to experience a connection with God at Timber Creek Camp. We are blessed to enjoy three days at the camp and share a unique, bonding moment with all of our peers from Perkinston and many students from other colleges who also attend the event. I have been able to attend this event twice, and each time has proven to be a wonderful adventure, helping each and every one of us surpass our difficulties and leave our burdens on Christ. The camp is located in Morton, Mississippi, surrounded by a vast, yet calm lake and countless trees. At the camp we stay in large cabins filled with twin bunk beds and a peaceful atmosphere. This year, I discovered a trail that goes around the whole camp and it was quite fun hiking through it with my friends. Although, before we get to the camp there is a pre determined schedule to which we must abide. We ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The camp withholds a deep, meaningful sense to me and inundates my soul in a spiritual atmosphere. The peace I am able to feel at the Camp is unprecedented, and I have come to realize it is due to the perfect combination of nature and God´s presence. From the very first minute we get there and are able to witness the alluring sight, we are able to feel peace and an overwhelming feeling of joy. These sensations intensify during worship at the chapel, supported by the psalms sung by everyone in the crowd. When I worship God, I praise him for all the good he has done in my life. I also ask Him for wisdom and a clear perspective so I can see how I should live my life. It is unbelievable how I can actually feel his presence in that place, and how He embraces me when I need it the most. The camp is also a great opportunity for some students to give their life to Christ, or if they have wandered off his presence, they are able to reconnect once ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Comparing The Israelites And The Puritans The Puritans believe they are morally superior to everyone else. The Puritans are about to leave England. They are Israelites is what they are. They are fleeing Egypt. Good Riddance! Next stop, land of milk/honey(4). Vowell uses a simile to compare the Puritans to the Israelites in order to reveal how the Puritans consider themselves. The Old Testament Israelites, references specifically the Israelites that escaped from Egypt in the Book of Exodus. After the population of Jews in Egypt had become so numerous the Pharaoh feared what they might be able to do and put them into slavery. The Israelites eventually escaped Egypt by crossing the Red Sea and eventually make it to land God had gifted them, the land of Canaan. The Puritans compare to the Israelites because they too felt some religious persecution. Catholic rulers like Mary I persecuted Protestants and had many executed. The Puritans also flee from a land not as pure as themselves in order to start anew. Cotton himself tells the Puritans that they are God s chosen, and America is their Canaan. The Israelites inspire the Puritans to get away. The Old Testament Israelites are to the Puritans what the blues was to the Rolling Stones a source of inspiration, a renewable resource of riffs(2). Vowell uses an analogy to compare two unlike things like Puritans and the Rolling Stones. The blues is a genre of music originating in the Deep South of the United States around the end of the 19th century. The emotion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Middle Passage Stage The first stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade was known as the Outward Passage . This is where ships carried goods from Europe to trade in Africa for captured slaves. The Middle Passage was the second stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The last stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade was the Return Passage which is where ships returned back to Europe from the New World, usually carrying cargo that consisted of sugar and tobacco they got in exchange for the slaves. The Middle Passage was infamously known as the most cruel and inhumane way to ship slaves from Africa to the West Indies. The enslaved people were packed onto ships, forced to lay next to each other shoulder to shoulder. The Middle Passage took about seven to eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the measurements varied depending on the ship. Women and children were usually not chained and remained unshackled. Men stayed in separate holding areas that were on opposite sides of the ship. Although there was only such little space provided to the enslaved people, the captain and crew boarded more than 600 slaves onto a ship at a time. Between the 16th and 20th century, 10 to 15 million enslaved Africans were forcibly shipped across the Atlantic. The conditions were incredibly harsh on the Middle Passage . When the ships docked at port for rest, there was always a chance that they could be attacked from enemies or pirates. They were even sometimes attacked by native tribes if they did not like their arrival. If the ships were faced with bad weather conditions, it would make the journey longer. Due to this the daily food rations the slaves had twice a day would be reduced greatly which resulted in many of them getting sick or nearly starving to death. These weather conditions affected both the crew and captain as well as the enslaved Africans, but the conditions were much worse for the enslaved Africans as they also dealt with mental, physical, and sexual abuse/assault from the captain and crew. These punishments were mainly due to rebellion of the enslaved Africans. Due to the slaves outnumbering the crew, they thought the rebellion would be successful. In spite of the punishments, the slaves often rebelled or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Federal Regulation of Organic Farming Is there a federal standard for what organic means when it comes to farm fresh milk? Ruva (Ruvarashe) Munyariwa Introduction to political Science, POS1001 Professor Schuman January 23, 2011 With the organic industry booming and up until recently showing an annual growth rate of 20% it has been necessary for the federal government to step in and regulate the previously self regulated industry. Initially, regulation of this industry was implemented by private nonprofit organizations and some state governments as a way to put an end to consumer fraud and to ensure the integrity of organic food. Preventive medical care in the form of vaccines, vitamins, minerals and any approved supplements is strongly relied on to keep the animals as healthy as possible. The process used to bottle and pasteurize the milk produced from these cows must also be certified and the organic milk has to be kept separate from nonorganic milk to uphold its integrity as an organic commodity. Other ingredients used in this process all have to be organic unless there is no organic equivalent. Organic chemicals like volatile synthetic solvents and other synthetic processing aids are also prohibited during the bottling process further upholding the integrity of the milk. Critics of the certification system argue that it s easy to flout the rules either blatantly or by creatively interpreting the rules and the regulations. An example of this occurred in 2004 when Bayliss ranch, a food ingredient producer, based in California tried to use the fact that because the tap water that they were using in their products had been certified organic, they could legally use the label organic on their products. These critics also argue that the certification process provides a podium by which special interest groups and lobbyists can press for amendments and exceptions to established rules and regulations favorable to large scale operators meaning that conventionally produced ... While many older fans seem to have a negative reaction to that claim, it s hard to deny the impact that Wayne has had in hip hop.
